Elizabeth noted his disinterest, as he looked about the room, while she spoke. Even with that smile plastered on his face. As expected. Still, she was disappointed that he accepted his role, but not truly accepted her. Her face was a mask of calm grace, when a storm was starting to brew inside her. Aiden was hers physically, but mentally he continued to shut Elizabeth out. It was rather frustrating. No matter, she had all the time in the world to change his mind.
βWell, perhaps I will go to the meeting along with you and Drake; I believe this would keep me amused for a little while if Darius does not come here.β Aiden's words pleasantly caught her off guard. He hardly took interest in the Council, this must be a good sign on Elizabeth's part. Her calm demeanor wavered and a small smile formed, maybe her patience was starting to pay off. She could only hope that was the case, anything else would be a disappointment. Elizabeth never handled disappointment well, everyone knew that.
βI do believe I am properly dressed for this occasion, am I not? Itβs been quite a long since I have attended a council meeting and I vaguely even remember the event.β Aiden commented looking down at his clothing choice. Elizabeth could only nod, truthfully he could go in a paper bag and she wouldn't care. The fact that he was simply attending was enough for her. She watched him pull out his phone once more, texting Darius no doubt.
He looked back at her. βAre you surprised?β She viewed that as a ridiculous question, she'd have to be a mind reader to not be at least slightly surprised by his choice to accompany her. She caught the flash of his teeth, she was prone to accept that as a true smile from him. Simply because she didn't want to see otherwise.
βA bit, my dear,β Elizabeth said, keeping that small smile. She smoothed her hands over her dress pants, out of habit. She tilted her head elegantly adding, βIt should be plenty amusing for you.β Wishing that Darius wouldn't come to steal Aiden away too soon.
βIf you donβt mind, I would like to ride with you and your beloved bodyguard.β That lovely smile of his vanished with those words. She frowned at the last bit of his comment. She knew the tow were not too fond of each other. She couldn't quite understand their distaste, and believed she never would fully get it. Just as soon as his smile had gone, it was back. She shook her head, males were such confusing creatures. βI think the car is ready.β Aiden moved past her out into the hallway. She sighed, tucking some of her ebony hair behind her ear. One moment she thought she as making progress and the next she really didn't know. Elizabeth straightened her spine, eluding regal grace. She then followed Aiden into the hall, she saw Drake approach.
