Sherry Lin | Myer's Residence | #6960EC | Outfit

As more people entered the party, the hairs on Sherry's neck seemed to stand. It was becoming harder discern people from one another and she was thanking the fact that she abstained from alcohol entirely. Aside from being lightweight, the Asian glow would be hard to hide even under her "natural" makeup. She could mildly make out Tommy, the King of the Keg and resident kamina, Hiroto following soon after, and finally...

"Lookin' good, girl."

She wanted to say AJ given that she'd come with her brother but her thoughts were so rudely interrupted by one of the few boys who didn't freeze beneath The Stareβ„’, no matter how much she might have tried.

Briceson Briggs.

His arrogant demeanor, athletic body, and overall gregariousness made him the apple of most girls' eyes at Beaumont Hills. It seemed to give him the idea that he was everyone's friend but she couldn't relate. He was the stereotypical jock, a meathead who excelled at sports but barely passed his classes. She didn't have many classes with him but it didn't take much to discern the face of a man who failed yet another quiz and definitely-did-not-care. Sherry had a cursory knowledge of lacrosse (for the sake of being cultured) but had never actually attended any games, much less seen him play. For all intents and purposes they should have never crossed paths, but being that the school was small and she took classes beyond her year it only made sense that he would make his way to her.

He buzzed around her as they approached the alcohol table, silently begging for some other person to catch his attention. At the back of her mind, an ethereal voice whispered in her mind's ear.

Find k-k. Find him

She winced as they approached the alcohol table before stopping entirely. The Banshee Network had a way of randomly messaging her and though she normally ignored such trivial (read: things that do not affect her) matters but she deliberately left herself open for the sake of getting AJ's late grandfather off her back. The tingle in her fingertips and the shiver down her spine seemed to intensify as she and Brice walked further into the household and his comments didn't help.

"I'll drink anything to make you less annoying," she replied icily before grabbing one of the least pungent drinks on the table and eying Tommy with particular scrutiny before wandering away.

She threw the cup in a nearby trashcan, looking for any empty couch or room available. The banshee needed peace and quiet to actively participate in the Banshee Network and a party was perhaps the worst place for either of those things. The noises of the party-goers, the music, and the ghosts of the Myers' former workers were overwhelming her and wafting smell of alcohol would only agitate her further. The only two options appeared to be a long line to the bathroom or a narrow door beneath a small staircase.

Sherry opted for the creepy door (naturally), finding that it led to a dimly lit laundry room. She sat on the washer and took a breath, opening her mind's eye to the spirit realm where a flood of faces and voices filled her senses.

"One at a time...please. I need to know what's going to happen and where."

Broke out. Find him. Find K-

"Kamina?"

No.

"Then who?"

There were at least two possibilities: that someone with a "k" sound in their name was going to die or that Tommy was involved. Perhaps both. The other option was that there might have been someone else, something else that she couldn't think of. In a world with banshees, kamina, and werewolves it wouldn't be out of the question for other species to exist and the phrase "broke out" only highlighted the possibility of this scenario being the case.

So the next question became where this would happen.

The network's free floating faces morphed into a blueprint of the mansion dotted blue with spirits that still haunted the estate. Most seemed content to observe the party but some were congregating.

Surrender yourself and you will find him.

The girl bit her lip as the voices continued swirling in her head. She didn't know these people, not really. And if it truly was a "him" that would die then AJ would be in no danger. She certainly didn't care for most of the other people in this school either so why would it matter if she chose not to follow her natural inclinations? She had nothing to gain from preventing another death.

She sighed. It mattered because she was a good person, a divining youth, if she was so inclined to call herself something. And she was already here so she would be a hypocrite if she didn't at least follow through this time.

"Fine, just this once."

Sherry's eyes rolled back for a few seconds as she left the room. Her practiced, graceful step deteriorated into an erratic, labored stumble to the Myer's backyard. Anyone observing her might have thought she was drunkenly wandering but it couldn't be further from the truth. Each step forward brought upon visions of death and the scent of chlorine once she arrived released the scream she had been suppressing all night long.
