Stubborn - Protective - Strong - Leader

Behind his guarded tough exterior is a kind and caring man who would rather take the blame than allow someone else to suffer. He can be stubborn, but is sometimes able to be swayed by those he trusts and loves. He doesn't always like showing his softer side, though, as it makes him feel weak which isn't a good trait to hold when the entire camp expects him to be the leader they need.

He is known to be overprotective of his little sister which is obvious as to why. She is the only family member he has left besides Zeus, so he doesn't like to stray too far away, but he knows that he has to because he can't protect her all the time. That's just a part of life. He's just got to convince himself that she's not the little girl he once knew anymore - she's a grown independent adult.

He may be strong physically and mentally, but he has weaknesses just like everyone else.

He will only show emotion to those he trusts.

He doubts himself of being a good leader and is unsure of who he can trust half the time. Despite all that has happened, he still tries his best at being a good leader, a good friend, a good brother, and a good boyfriend. He still manages to fail, though, and struggles to swallow his pride. He doesn't like to say sorry when he's overstepped the boundaries and hurts those he cares most about, so when he does... you know for damn sure he means it.

Once people earn his trust, he is loyal to them until the very end.

After their grandmother passed away from stage 4 cancer, their mother became seriously ill with so much grief, that Ajax was frightened it would eat at her until there was nothing left.
He placed her into a private hospital where she spent years recovering with highly trained doctors. He even raised Alex the best he could by himself and had to reassure her many nights that their mother was fine. Alex, of course, believed him, and for a second... Ajax felt as though it was a lie. Their mother hadn't returned home for several years, but when she did come back... Alex was no longer the child she once knew... she was becoming a woman.

Susanna burst into tears. She was so proud of Ajax for taking care of her. The three hugged for what seems like forever until Ajax handed a golden envelope over for her to read. It was time for him to go camp Athens, and that Alex would attend soon after.

It felt like he was losing his mom all over again. "I'll come to visit as often as they allow. I promise." and he did, but it wasn't as often as he hoped. Visiting them was putting them in danger, so the visits had to stop until it was safe again, but it never was.

His little sister had to attend the camp sooner than planned which just left their mother feeling lost. Luckily, though, she managed to find her own happiness not long after. She married their step-father in the months of fall which was a beautiful wedding.

But their happiness and love weren't meant to last long, the fates had seen to that.

Their mother drew her last breath, and all Ajax could think about was how much he had failed to protect her. His sister eventually lost herself, became vulnerable to Hades curse, and became the uncontrolled storm within the skin. Ajax tried his best to bring her back, but the darkness within her was rooted too deeply.

He yet again blamed himself, and as the trials of the Gods took his sister as a prisoner, he had to learn that it was her who had killed their own mother under the influence of Hades himself. Ajax hadn't recognized his sister for such a long time, but after that trial, once her name was cleared.... he could see that little girl she once was. Lost, and afraid. He took her by the hand and promised that he would help her because he still loved her.

The war at camp when the Gods had taken to their children's side to force back the titans, and the endless body counts that soaked the marbled steps of camp, was part of the downfall of his own insecurities, and his sister's strength. That fire she had inside of her, that storm that raged yet remained controlled had died out.

He needs to fix everything... starting with himself.

Image He almost requested some real talk from Sylas when he implied Liv made the first move but he came to realize he didn't know the girl or guy well enough to know who came onto who first. And there were better things to lie about then time spent in the closet.

Mason growled Trinity's name as she snatched the pack from him then Sylas replaced it in his pocket pointedly. Mason nodded to him in thanks. Throughout their conversation, he was surprised how similar their minds worked. Just like when they both saw Cherise and Daniel stumble out of the closet, they looked at each other. Sylas's look was more inquiring while Mason's was proud. Another case made. Closet time wasn't to be wasted.

Iliana's friend strolled right up to them and passed the bottle onto Trinity. She was more disheveled than he thought having to tuck in her blouse and looking quite the hot mess.

"I guess it's your turn to get groped in the closet... I hope they're a good kisser." Sylas bidded Trinity his own taunting good luck and Mason rose his brows.

Trinity had been pretty subdued up to that point. “As long as it's not you, I'm sure I'll have a great time.” She gave an icy smile. “I decide what happens to my body, when, where and how.”

Mason knew that, and he'd dare to guess Sylas knew that. She wasn't one that went weak in the knees or let herself be seduced. When she left, Mason looked to Sylas. Spite, defiance and self-assurance. "Personally, I dig it. Bit of dominance about her and plenty of fire."

Yet he couldn't see himself sleeping with her. He laughed lowly as she tugged Eve away from her male. Wes was lucky to have the attention of a female alpha and Eve was far too pushy for her own good. As his gaze flickered through the party, Mason saw Andy dancing with the redhead from earlier. His smile faded as he watched her some distance away sway to the music. It wasn't particularly sensual but he found her stunning and she could move. That outfit showed her shape and body in a
modest but sexy way too. Mason tried to tear his eyes from her. "So you and Sloane decided on this game? Interesting. I mean I'm grateful, don't get me wrong." He enjoyed his time with Eve in there and the idea of the drama and heartbreaks across the camp it could bring. But it was an interesting suggestion apparently made by the Eris children.

"To keep our alliance intact, do you have any off-limits I should know about? People, mainly," he added smirking since apparently choking wasn't off-limits in private. Mason would rather not hear how much Sylas could withstand in the physical department, fascinating as it'd be.

His eyes shifted back to Andy helplessly. Mason took off his jacket for the moment putting it on his lap. He needed to drink more so his body was slower to react. Particularly when he really knew the girl wasn't just incredible looking but irritating and stubborn and ridiculously loyal.

One by one the numbers seemed to dwindle away from the fire and beach altogether. Normally that was him, the first to leave and call it a night. "And suddenly there's less contestants for the bottle to pick." Not that Mason was too disheartened. The girl disappearing with Pete was a pity and it did increase the chance of landing on Alex. The thought snapped him out of idle chatter. That was a damn ice shower for him. "Are you working on a Valis's demise or other things?" Mason asked somehow suggestive and a little annoyed at the same time.

Nobody really wanted the demise of a Valis more than him and all he could rely on was himself. But fair enough for Sylas to treat himself and do some other chaotic exercises. Then again, don't make a deal to be a partner in crime.

Image The atmosphere took a tense turn and when he thought he had relieved it, it came back. "Tell me about it. I'm leaving tomorrow with Alex. We're going to mount Olympus to spend time with dad, and... well... Alex has asked Duke to come. Come with too if you want. It'll be better than this place at the moment. And umm....Didn't Andy say anything to you, about..." Ajax seemed to hesitate. Daniel cocked his head to the side. "Well, we br--"

Suddenly, he was almost tackled into the sand as Alex hugged him and kissed his cheek. He chuckled and one arm hugged her back seeing as she pinned one of his others. "Finally get a moment with you. How are you? and what you boys talkin' about exactly, huh? Gossiping about girls?" she grinned.

"As you're aware, I'm super popular, kind of a big catch on camp," he winked "But I do my best to tend to the line and see everybody." Daniel chuckled then looked to Ajax hoping he'd take over for the second question. Technically, they kind of were gossiping about a girl and he fully wanted to get back to what Andy didn't tell him.

"And did you just see Pete wander off with Rae? - She's the camp's biggest slut here, and it's disgusting. She has not long tried to get Duke to go with her, then was flirting with Theo. I honestly thought that Pete had better taste and standards than that." Never mind. Apparently she had her own vent to get off her chest. Alex was never shy about her opinion.

Then Ajax stepped in with his wisdom. "Al... I really couldn't care less about their teen dramas. Just stay out of it, okay? If they wanna be like that, then that's their problem. Not ours."

"Ah," Daniel raised a hand, "question, are you carrying the torch for Pete?" he looked in the direction the duo disappeared. "Maybe they've just gone to cuddle? Or maybe," he smirked and waggled his brows "you should have made a better move." To be fair he did see Alex making out with him but maybe Pete needed more belt tugging and thought the sun was coming up. Or he just preferred red heads. Nervously, he glanced to Evelyn who was still in the company of Andy. Hopefully not.

Ajax spoke again, this time revealing that Andy and he had sort of broken up or were on a break. Daniel frowned. "I don't want to cause a scene anytime soon, so... I just want people to leave her alone." An interesting choice, because he didn't see Ajax letting her go, he thought he loved her. Without full context it didn't make sense. "Besides, it's probably my fault because of... I never gave her much attention. Honestly, she's better off without me."

Daniel scratched his jaw, perplexed. He had no doubt it must have been hard on Ajax and Andy yet they both kept their chins relatively up. The bursting question for Daniel was why.

Alex jumped to her feet. "Don't do that for her! don't make excuses for her!" she shouted.

Daniel lowered his eyes and played his fingers through the sand. "Sit down." After a moment she was able to bring herself back to a sitting position. "Just leave it." Daniel glanced up at her as she glared at Andy.

"Alex, that's my sister your sending daggers at," Daniel reminded softly. "It takes two to tango anyway. That applies to Andy and Ajax's decision, and...others." AKA the ones known as Rae and Pete. Disappointed as she might have been in him, Daniel didn’t see the Rae girl dragging him along.

These change of events and several new faces did make him wonder how long he was gone or just how oblivious and wasteful Keith was. He cleared his throat keen to move on. "As for your invite to Olympus, I just got back to Camp. While it may be thick in the drama department and lover quarrels and I don't know half the faces anymore, this is home to me." One of them anyway. "Not to mention I don't think I'll benefit from spending time with your dad." If that's what the matter was then good for them. He'd prefer it be something more urgent than family bonding but maybe he was just picky like that. "You don't think you're leaving camp a little vulnerable?" Daniel was the last person to rain on anybody's parade but that reality had to be addressed.

He saw Cherise wandering away from the party and frowned again. Wasn't it early? What was the matter? Daniel had half a mind to jump to his feet and check on her but he was in the middle of a relatively important conversation and he could catch up with her later. Maybe. It'd probably be strange to appear at her cabin by the time he was done with the party.

"As long as it's not you, I'm sure I'll have a great time." Trinity's words came with a bite, bringing a smile to Sylas's face. "I decide what happens to my body, when, where and how." She was feisty. He watched her make her way over to the circle and spin the bottle. He couldn't help but chuckle to himself as the blonde practically pried the son of Aphrodite from the clutches of the camp's minx.

"Personally, I dig it. Bit of dominance about her and plenty of fire," Mason said in regards to Trinity's sass and dominance.

Sylas moved his attention back to Mason as he spoke. He shrugged his shoulders while nodding his head agreeing. "Anyone beautiful can get my attention. But I'm a slave for a strong woman that keeps me in my place." He smirked, taking a sip of his drink. He couldn't help but notice Mason's gaze focused on a particular brunette dancing with the ever enchanting Evelyn. Although the man's comment was guided towards Trinity, he knew that it also held value with Andy. If Sylas had to put his finger on it, Mason's draw toward the daughter of Hecate was because he couldn't control her and she knew exactly how to keep him in his place. It's ecstasy for guys like them.

"So you and Sloane decided on this game? Interesting. I mean I'm grateful, don't get me wrong."

"Well, it's never as simple as just a game," Sylas said as he took a seat beside Mason. "I'd think you know me better than that." He smirked watching as Eve's brother was whisked away into the closet with a promiscuous red head. He leaned over a little more toward his company, lowering his voice so only the son of Hades could hear him. "I'll let you in on a little secret... Be mindful of who you want the bottle to land on. You'll find it knows what you want." He smiled as he sat back upright. The game was insightful into the desires, or weaknesses, of the campers. Regardless if Mason new the truth or not, it wouldn't alter the blessing upon the bottle.

"To keep our alliance intact, do you have any off-limits I should know about? People, mainly," Mason asked, smirking.

Sylas ran his finger tip along the brim of his glass as he contemplated the question. "I'm not the type to put down roots. So the camp is your oyster," he answered, motioning his hand to the plethora of attractive women perfect for Mason's debauchery. Even if there was someone in particular holding his attention, maybe like how Evelyn was, he wouldn't admit it. Emotional connections are weakness. He would never share information like that. He would rather the camp see him as a whore. And maybe hearing it enough would convince to not become preoccupied by a pretty face.

It seemed as the night continued on, campers trickled away. Some looking bored or tired, while others left together with more nefarious desires. "And suddenly there's less contestants for the bottle to pick."

"The odds grow in your favor," Sylas jested. Technically he wasn't wrong, the bottle would be entirely at his beck and call.

"Are you working on a Valis's demise or other things?" Mason seemed impatient to piss off the Zeus duo, not that he blamed him. But Sylas wasn't the type to rush into things like Eve, nor run in blindly trying to strangle everyone. It took time.

"Don't do that for her! Don't make excuses for her!" Alex shouted, catching Sylas's attention. The temperamental brunette stood beside the son of Hecate, he couldn't recall the guy's name, and Ajax. His brows furrowed slightly. He wondered who she was talking about. But then she stared daggers at the daughter of Hecate, it answered his question. The two men with Alex didn't seem thrilled about her outbreak. Maybe she was closer to the tipping point than he originally thought.

Sylas finished the rest of his drink before finally speaking. "Currently my attentions have been focused on the murderer. She's so close to the edge. Just needs a little push." His eyes squinted as he studied the sullen brother. Someone who was supposedly the leader at this shit hole of a camp. His lady love no where near him, nor had they shared a moment together since the start of the party. Yet the last bonfire, they couldn't be separated.

"As for Captain Zeus..." his voice trailed off as he looked toward Ajax, knowing Mason's gaze would likely follow. "He looks more miserable than anything I could do. If I had to guess? There's trouble in paradise." Unlike Mason, who would take that observation like a holy grail, Sylas kept his eyes on Alex. He barely knew the girl, yet so much anger and animosity raged within her. He made a mental note to pay her a visit before the party was over. Maybe even give her that little... push.

Theo allowed himself to relax as Rae entangled her legs in his. Even when drunk, Theo was a people watcher. The inability to turn off his acute observation skills could be quite the curse sometimes. The small talk with Rae and Nelly was enough to keep him entertained as the seemingly never-ending game of seven minutes in heaven dragged on. Still unaware he was making constant passes at his sister, Theo's head was heavy from the alcohol but his mind at ease. That is until he watched Trinity's turn with the bottle unfold. As Theo's worst luck would have it, the bottle came to a stop pointing directly at Wes. He felt himself tense up, jaw clinched, as he watched the duo head past him towards the closet. It wasn't just seeing them together that bothered Theo. It was the fact that 36 hours prior, Theo seemed to be in good standing in their complicated little love triangle. Now, it was like Trinity couldn't even take the time to acknowledge his presence at the party.

Theo let out a sigh. This is precisely why Theo liked running with the wolves. The wolves weren't complicated. They never deviated from what they were supposed to do in the pack. He never had to worry about things not going according to plan. Glancing at Rae for a moment, Theo started to tune out the world around him in order to zero in on the noise from the closet. He could hear talking, which meant there wasn't kissing, and he could remain satisfied at that. His gut screamed at Theo to keep listening, but it made him feel shitty and awkward. He let the noise from the party filter back in, drowning out the events of the closet.

Letting himself relax once again, Theo continued to chat with his newfound party mates. It wasn't long before Trinity was out of the closet, and Wes was handing the bottle to Pete. Theo was cognizant of the fact that he had yet to go into the closet, and he was pretty sure Rae and Nelly had not made their appointed visit either. It wouldn't remain that way though as the bottle spun right around to point at himself and Rae. All he could do was roll his eyes. For someone who never struggled with women in his old life, Camp Athens sure did feel cursed to Theo on that front.

"It looks like it's my go, and he doesn't seem like a guy that likes to be kept waiting," Rae said as she relieved herself of her place in Theo's lap. She wasn't wrong. Pete looked like the kind of guy who would take full advantage of this situation. Theo smiled at Rae softly as she looked down at him. "How does my make-up look?"

With a smirk on his face and his hand still in hers from helping to guide her to stand up, Theo gave Rae a compliment, "You're practically glowing love. Have fun." Theo released her hand, satisfied to let her go. Surprisingly, he wasn't miffed at all. Theo returned to his people watching as Rae walked away, and it wasn't long before he started to feel a certain drowsiness brought on by the combination of alcohol and inactivity. The seven minutes did not feel long at all, and before Theo knew it, Rae was approaching him again. He smiled at her, but it was clear she was not intent on cozying up with Theo again from the side eye action she was giving Pete. "I apologize Theo, but I hear it's bad manners to leave a job half done. If you catch my drift. So, I think I'll retire for the night."

Theo was content enough on his own to ignore the sexual innuendo from Rae. If only he knew this was his sister, he might respond differently. He bid her a good night and managed to get himself to grab another drink. Nelly was spinning the bottle, but Theo wasn't sure he was very interested in the game anymore. As he grabbed a bottle of his favorite beer, he spotted the trio sitting away from the party. Ajax, Alex, and Daniel looked like an inviting enough group. With all the fuss and drama of recent days, along with the camp newbies, the group of camp veterans hadn't had much of a chance to talk. It wasn't like anyone needed to do much reminiscing over the events of the previous year. War sounds cool and all, but after actually participating in one, Theo didn't find it all it was cracked up to be. Theo grabbed three much drinks and wandered over to his old friends.

Ya know, camp kinda sorta sucks now. Things were much simpler when it was just us around here," Theo spoke out as he approached the group from behind. He had a smile on his face, and it was apparent that he was half joking. Only half though, there was certainly some truth behind what Theo had to say. The oldies were like a family, and while Theo was more than willing to let new demigods have the opportunity to be a part of that family, more people made things more complicated.

"You know, would it kill a woman to tell a man that he is good looking? I mean, Rocco told me you were trying to sneak a peek back at the cabin." Sloane wasn't able to tell if the comment was a joke or not. But regardless of his intended reaction, she turned bright red making sure her gaze was fixed anywhere but him.

Luckily walking across the beach didn't involve exchanging looks. Sloane couldn't shake her blushing. They didn't exchange words, not that she was complaining. Although it only allowed for her mind to race. She clung to Liam like a life line, scared of drowning in her brother's wake. She couldn't help but feel like she was monopolizing his time and help. As much as she enjoyed having someone she felt like she could confide in, her mind kept trying to find ways to pull herself away from him. Maybe figure out a new cabin situation... Or leave camp. The thoughts gave her a headache.

Liam slipped from her grasp when they reached the refreshments. "I've been to so many bars, I'm sure this can't be hard. I mean, I bet you like fruity drinks."

"I wouldn't know," she said with a shrug. Sloane was never a drinker. She couldn't remember the last time she had a drink and if she remembered correctly, it was most likely wine. Out of the corner of her eye she watched Liam mix different liquids into a glass. While he did that she wondered down to the other end of the table. Every so often she'd pick up a carrot, cheese or any other finger foods to nibble on.

After a moment or two he held out a drink completely contradicting his own appearance. It was colorful with one of those little umbrellas, something most women would enjoy. Sloane reached out to take the glass in her hand. "Sex On the Beach?"

She hesitated a moment, her brows furrowing as she looks between the drink and Liam. How was she supposed to react to that? Of course, Sloane knew that it was the name of a drink, presumably the one in her hand. But with Liam, it seemed that half of the things that came out of his mouth had innuendos or a second meaning. If it was a proposition, there were plenty of other girls willing to oblige at camp. But instead of making a scene about it, Sloane just brought the glass to her lips and took a sip. She coughed, raising her free hand to her mouth. "It's good... Just strong." She coughed again.

Sloane traced the brim of the glass with the tip of her finger, then twisted the umbrella around. She sighed softly before finally looking up. "You can go... mingle." She noticed whenever he looked at another girl which only further made her feel like a burden. She didn't know how she felt about the idea of him around other women, it gave her a weird sensation in her stomach. But, she wasn't going to change his life because he witnessed something he shouldn't have. "I'm sure there's more thrilling company."

Once the bottle was handed off, Wes glanced around at the party. It was definitely dying down. His old seat was no longer an option, as Eve remained firmly planted in the same place he left her. He wondered over to the refreshments, nodding his head toward Liam in greeting as the guy mixed a drink. The look of all the drinks didn't appeal to him. So instead, he just picked up a bottle of water, opting to keep his mind clear.

As he scanned the crowd, he saw Trinity sitting by herself. So before he left the refreshment table he grabbed a second water for her. He made his way over to her. Wes held out the bottle to her and just before he was able to sit a small blonde made her way over to him. His lips curved into a small friendly smile as his gaze fell to Iliana's tablet. "Good evening. Are you feeling better?"

Wes's smile faded slightly as his free hand rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah, I was just... upset," he said quietly. His gaze drifted over toward Trinity as his cheeks flushed. They were getting back to better terms, like they were before. She saw the aftermath of his cabin and knew how upset he was the other day, but he still wasn't a fan of admitting it.

"I'm sorry I was an ass." He pursed his lips trying to find the words. "I don't get angry often and when I do... It kinda just implodes."

He then moved over slightly, motioning his left hand towards Trinity. "By the way, I don't know if you have met. But this is my..." Wes's voice trailed off before he finished the comment. Was she his girlfriend? They never put labels on it. He just laughed awkwardly and continued. "Trinity. Trinity, this is Iliana. I met her the other day when I befriended a rabbit." He smiled like a dork. He couldn't make that story up even if he wanted to. One thing Trin knew about him was his weird habit of befriending animals.

Wes smiled to both of the girls, before he lowered himself down on the log beside Trinity. "How have you been enjoying the party?" he asked, Iliana. "Hoping to get your chance in the closet?" He laughed before taking a drink of his water.

"Almost," Evelyn agreed to her comment. "Did you want to talk about it?"

Andy laughed and shook her head. Evelyn's words weren't funny. But the fact that the girl didn't seem to be up in all the drama was like a breath of fresh air. "You don't want to be swept up in all of that." She gave a friendly smile. "But I appreciate the offer."

Evelyn then took her arm gently. Neither of them stopped dancing, but she gave the red head her undivided attention. "For the moment, everybody's fine and this little circle." She drew an invisible circle around them. "Is drama free." Andy smiled, nodding her head in agreement. That is exactly what she needed right now. She kept her back toward the bulk of the campers while Evelyn seemed to scan the others. She paid no mind to it, just letting herself enjoy the music and dancing.

"7 minutes is a long time," the red head said. Andy laughed, it definitely was. Luckily, the only person she had been shoved in there with had no desire to make a move on her. She was thankful of that. She was already conflicted about so many things, she didn't need to toss something else in there and make it worse. But Andy would be lying if she said that she didn't have some desire to be locked in there with...

"I would never rob people the chance of spending closet time with a daughter of Aphrodite." Evelyn made her gaze evident as she looked around at the campers behind her. Andy's brows furrowed slightly. There weren't any Aphrodite daughters at camp. "It appears you're some sort of magnet." Then her eyes widened realizing Evelyn meant her.

Andy hesitated for a long minute, but then the urge to look took over. First, she saw her brother watching her. She would have thought he would have been happy that she wasn't moping in the corner, but his expression was more serious as he sat next to Ajax. She inhaled sharply through her nose knowing full well the conversation that must have happened between them. But she still tried to give Daniel a slight smile. Then she looked to Alex who was staring daggers at her. Whatever smile Andy had, faded into a glare. Her nostrils flared and jaw tensed. "I do believe some of those are death glares," she laughed. Andy let a slight smile grow on her face as she talked to Evelyn, but kept her gaze on Alex for a long moment. Maybe the moody brat would think she was talking about her. Andy didn't care.

She rolled her eyes as she went to look away. But then froze momentarily when she saw Mason, staring straight at her. Andy tensed slightly. Whatever smile she had slowly faded. Any other day, she would have grinned... Maybe made a face at him and beckoned him to join. But instead she just stood there, holding his gaze in silence for too long. Finally she cleared her throat and looked back to Evelyn. "There are far more interesting people here than me. Like that girl who shared her safe word... Or Eve." The annoyance practically dripped from her words. But she shook it off and got back into the flow of dancing.

"As for your question, I think I have an idea. Between you and me I'm reluctant to kiss him as much as I crave to kiss him."

Andy smirked at Evelyn's comment, taking a sip of her own drink. She fought the urge to look back over her shoulder one more time. But she nodded her head in agreement. "I know that feeling."

"But, ultimately, as strange as it sounds, I trust the bottle." Evelyn winked playfully causing Andy to laugh. "What about you?"

She sucked in a breath sharply through her teeth before taking a sip from her drink. "I mean... yeah," she replied nonchalantly with a nod of her head. Andy tapped the brim of the bottle against her bottom lip. "It's... complicated."

They swayed and danced in silence for awhile. Andy actually let herself relax into it, running her fingers through her hair and closing her eyes. She was lucky enough to have them open when Evelyn dropped her drink, able to back stepped quickly. She brought her free hand to her mouth, laughing softly. "Oops."

"Hm. That's a shame it was actually delicious. I'll remedy this situation later." Evelyn picked up the glass and Andy offered to take it from her. She then placed it and her own empty bottle on a table so they weren't encumbered by them. Her gaze fell slightly to the red head's leg where remnants of some of the drink remained. "At least now my leg will smell and taste delicious."

Andy laughed a true genuine laugh. Gods did it feel great to actually smile and laugh. "Call it foreplay," she teased. Now that neither of them were encumbered with a drink, she took Evelyn's hand and gave her a playful twirl. Maybe she was tipsy? Maybe Evelyn was? Either way, she didn't care. She was having fun.

Somewhere along the line Andy kicked off her sandals, letting her toes wiggle and pivot in the sand as she danced. Occasionally she'd twirl Evelyn since the girl was wear the perfect outfit to spin around in. It seemed like a lot of the camp melted away. She could feel eyes on her, watching them as they danced or maybe Alex wishing she'd keel over. But either way, she didn't care. For a brief moment Andy was happy and, at least for now, nothing was going to ruin that.

"Alex, that's my sister your sending daggers at," he said, catching her staring off at Andy like she secretly wanted the girl to just vanish into thin air. "It takes two to tango anyway. That applies to Andy and Ajax's decision, and...others." She left out a soft sigh and nodded. He was right, it was their choice, and she couldn't help but wonder that maybe she was a little harsh with her words towards the girl that Pete had left with for the night.

Daniel cleared his throat keen to move on. "As for your invite to Olympus, I just got back to Camp. While it may be thick in the drama department and lover quarrels and I don't know half the faces anymore, this is home to me. Not to mention I don't think I'll benefit from spending time with your dad. You don't think you're leaving camp a little vulnerable?"

Image "Maybe," Ajax began to imagine all the things that could possibly go wrong while off in Mount Olympus, and that list was endless, but he still needed to go. "I trust that many of you will be able to keep the place in order while I'm gone, though, and It won't be for long." at least, he hoped that was true. Rounding up the escaped souls of Tartarus wasn't exactly going to be an easy task without powers. "But I know for a fact who I'll leave in charge." she was the only option. A strong woman who was more than capable of handling herself and others without breaking a single sweat. "Trinity." the camp also had Liam for backup if she needed it. "I'll ask her first, of course. I don't want to spring that responsibility onto her without giving her a choice. If not, then... Liam or you who are the next best options." he chose Daniel because his powers basically had no limits with the witchcraft he and Andy had inherited from Hecate.

"Ya know, camp kinda sorta sucks now. Things were much simpler when it was just us around here,"

Alex smiled while Theo joined their little group. "I wouldn't say simpler." Ajax added without turning to face him. It wasn't that he didn't like Theo joining them, but because he had more important things on his mind. Camp Athens couldn't remain standing without the others.

ImageSylas was certain the bottle was favorable of the mindfullness of what he wanted. Normally Mason would have rubbed it off to crap but in camp where anything could happen...he couldn't. Still it was hard to fully believe. Slightly far fetched as far as bottles went and seven minutes in heaven.

"Currently my attentions have been focused on the murderer. She's so close to the edge. Just needs a little push."

Mason rubbed his head. "She's lived on the edge for a while now and nobody's blown her off." Nobody could see the monster he could. Not that Mason counted himself a saint or hero, but there was a huge denial around acknowledging Alex as one. That annoyed him more than anything.

"As for Captain Zeus..." Mason turned his gaze reluctantly to the uncharming site of Alex and Ajax coddled to each other as usual. "He looks more miserable than anything I could do. If I had to guess? There's trouble in paradise."

"Hm." Mason looked back to Andy dancing freely before sighing and running his hand through his hair. "Maybe. He's not all over her for once." That shouldn't have been an indication but sadly it was especially when contrasting the previous fire. He was literally all over her. Maybe he didn't fulfil her needs and she realized she'd always come second to Alex. It wasn't like him to be optimistic though so he didn't bother getting his hopes up, amusing as they were to think Ajax...insufficient and a bad performer.

Actually, Mason would say tension entered paradise after that night. Mason looked to his acquaintance and Sylas's eyes were still towards Alex and Ajax. He was wasting his time staring at them when there were better sights to see unless Sylas wanted to play the heartbreaker card. That'd be a shame as it'd make Mason nauseous of him for a while even when knowing it's an act.

Before he could comment, Penelope approached them and requested Sylas's presence in the closet without so much as flashing them a pretty smile. Then Sylas acted like it was a mix of pleasure and pain to be chosen for the bottle. Mason had faith that his buddy could survive the closet again.

Mason slipped on his jacket and sighed getting to his feet. He had a thought to check in on Andy and make sure she was coping but watching her with Evelyn, starting to spin the girl around suggested she was in fine enough spirits and Mason's company would only ruin that. The last exchange they had, he had the feeling she wanted nothing to do with him. Mason started looking for his troublesome blonde instead. Somebody, he could openly check out and admire without repercussions. If she wasn't in immediate sight, it was likely she was off tormenting that hair model again.

Apparently he had been standing there, drinking and looking into the fire for some time because when he spotted some movement it was Penelope and Sylas exiting the closet. Sylas shrugged causing Mason to smirk. Some bottle that knew what you wanted, hey?

Image Alex gave the death glare a break thankfully. Not that Andy seemed the least bit concerned by it but Daniel was.

"Maybe," Ajax replied in regards to leaving the camp in a state of vulnerability. Sounded like half denial to Daniel. "I trust that many of you will be able to keep the place in order while I'm gone, though, and It won't be for long. But I know for a fact who I'll leave in charge." Daniel quirked a brow and gave a drum roll for effect. "Trinity." Daniel stopped dead. Last time he checked Trinity had the strength and don't take shit attitude but that's where the "in charge" qualities ended. He even glanced to Alex questioningly to ask if her brother was fully sane and aware. "I'll ask her first, of course. I don't want to spring that responsibility onto her without giving her a choice."

Daniel nodded and laughed. Asking was a start. "A great choice if you want to have us earning our pulse every day."

"If not, then... Liam or you who are the next best options."

Daniel smirked and bowed his head grateful to be thought of no matter how deluded. "I would do the same. Six o'clock rise and shine time followed by a couple beastie conjurations. Then a small breakfast interval as reward for making it. In fact, I'll make a show of it." Daniel chuckled although the idea might have been tempting. Who didn't like a little money on the side and to play God. "Who's Liam?"

"Ya know, camp kinda sorta sucks now. Things were much simpler when it was just us around here," Daniel turned to Theo and smiled. Speaking of potential "in charge" people.

"I wouldn't say simpler."

Daniel stroked his imaginary moustache again. "Yes, you looked in a real predicament being drowned in lady companionship earlier." He chuckled but really, what was so wrong with the newer faces? He would have thought Theo joined the slightly grateful spectrum. More bodies did account for more drama and scheming though last year wasn't short of that. They should have been immune to the crap. "What does an unsucky camp even look like in the eyes of Mr. Smith?" Especially when Theo had come fresh out of being a literal stud. He had four women around him, including Cherise who Daniel stole away to the closet remorselessly. He wouldn't take it back either. Theo still had two red heads to seduce and a quiet blonde.

Since Ajax wasn't feeling chatty and fell back into doom and gloom mode, Daniel initiated conversation again. "We were previously discussing who would make a good second in command. If I had to be responsible I was thinking you," he gestured to Theo. "If I was being myself though, I'd vote for me." That was likely no surprise followed by his grin.

Then Slenderman approached, slinking in. "I believe it's your turn. Have fun," he told Alex followed by a twitch in his eye. Then he did them the great pleasure of walking away.

Daniel smiled at Alex encouragingly before looking back to Evelyn and Andy as they danced tirelessly. Daniel poked up his fingers silently counting how many people he had got to dance so far. "You know this is supposed to be a party. Why don't you fellas get off your butts and make some girl's night by asking her to dance? You too, Alex." Whatever their poor or selfish excuses, Daniel didn't care to hear that kind of negativity. 'I don't feel like it, boohoo. I'm too cool, therefore everybody else should be as bored out of their mind as I am.'

Ajax or Theo could easily have a little boogey with Alex after the closet because she was a party girl and she must have been bored to rant about a girl and guy she hardly knew and be stuck in her brother's company. Some other ginger was available and Eve, Wes, if that's who Alex preferred to dance with. There were options for the miserable sods.

Daniel made his way to Wes, Trinity and the quiet blonde. "Howdy folks. How we doing? Uh, question slash favor, Wesley." Yeah, he didn't particularly care how they were doing. There were things on his mind and the Valises hadn't given him answers. "One, I'm gonna need some love and or dating updates because I am super confused." He took his place beside Wes on the log. "Like, do Slenderman and red have a thing, do Alex and 'Pete' have a thing? I'm super behind in the goss. And, uh two, if I had to do a Freddy Krueger conjuration, who would fare better between these two lovely ladies?" He pointed between the two girls then nudged Trinity. "Hi, by the way. Good to see you too."

He chuckled then held up his hands in surrender, mostly for the girl he didn't yet know. "I would never do that. To a stranger. Probably."

Daniel smacked Wes's human shoulder. "But, look at you, do you feel like a bad ass? You look like one. Just get you some sunglasses, have you say 'I'll be back' and we have a terminator." He laughed again, then leaned towards Wes like revealing a secret. "I was going to borrow your girlfriend for a dance but I understand if you'd be intimidated. I'm no son of Aphrodite but the charm's there when we're dancing. If you don't go all Magic Mike in front of these girls, there's a chance somebody else will." It was unlikely Theo or Ajax would approach Trinity but there was a chance like he said. Daniel winked to urge Wes to make his move. Through all the taunting there were good intentions.

Both the girls looked like they needed something invigorating in their night again. Daniel patted the spot next to him for the young girl that remained standing with a smile.

Wes laughed and gladly shifted forward for Trinity to reach around behind him and shove Daniel. His own hand held her frame slightly to help keep her balance as she struggled a bit to make her arm reach the distance. The personality shifting son of Hecate nodded his head quickly at his comment about only stripping for one person. And, of course, Trin had something to add. "Iliana's a lucky girl." The blonde smirked toward him. Wes rolled his eyes and shook his head with a smile. "Since when have you turned all a private showman, anyway? You got nothing to hide." His gaze fell slightly when she tapped his abdomen.

He gently took ahold of Trinity's finger with his real hand and chuckled. "You know who I meant," Wes corrected her with a slight smile. "And we both know you don't like to share. I think you'd smother me with clothes once I got past my shirt." His grin only grew at the comment, giving her a playful nudge with his shoulder.

"Not at the moment, Daniel, sorry. You know I'm just afraid we'll dance and I'll fall hard and fast for you," she then replied to Daniel's offer for a dance.

"I understand." Daniel tapped his heart and bowed his head.

Trinity then stood up and put her foot on the log where she was sitting. Her gaze was on him expectantly which caused him to raise a brow curiously. Wes adjusted how he sat slightly, letting his finger tips brush against her calf lightly. It was a brief touch. He couldn't help but smirk, looking up at her from the corner of his eyes. Before he could do it again a whistle cut through the noise of the small group. He jumped slightly, like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar, withdrawing his touch from Trin's leg.

Wes looked over in the direction the sound came from, surprised to see it was Iliana. He didn't know the girl was capable of any noise, let alone one that loud. "Can someone please explain to me what the deal is with this Daniel here? I thought his name was Keith? Was that a lie? What do you mean he's back? I am sorry, I am just so confused right now and it's driving me nuts here."

"Think of it as a split personality. Keith was here, now he's not," Daniel answered the question with a vague comment. Wes nodded his head in appreciation of the answer. But he felt someone curious like Iliana might not be satisfied with such a vague response. "Forgive me for not wanting to waste time now I'm finally me again. I think as a rule...as hard and confusing as it is on all of you...until another identity is implanted in your minds, you don't talk about how I should behave. Or, how nuts it drives you guys... See you later." He then turned and left the group.

Wes sighed, looking down. He didn't mean to upset Daniel, nor did he think anyone else did. But he didn't think he should be the one to chase after him. Luckily, as if she was on the same wavelength, Andy followed after Daniel. She was probably the safest bet to talk to him. That then left Wes with Trinity and Iliana once again. He tried his best to smile before looking between the girls.

"Does this camp ever have... normal days?" Wes asked rhetorically as he looked over at Trinity. He didn't whisper the question or anything but he directed it a little more toward Trin since she had been there even longer than himself. It probably didn't paint the best image for Iliana who had only been there a couple days. But it was a sad truth about the place.

At one point during the rapid fire conversation Andy caught a glimpse of Trinity who looked straight at her. The blonde gave a tight smile, like she knew that something was going on in her head even though she didn't say anything. Andy gave a similar smile in return but said nothing. Instead she remained more of a spectator as Trinity and Wes came to terms with Daniel being back.

Then there was a high pitch whistle that made Andy's face scrunch up. Was that necessary? She looked over at the culprit, like the rest of them, to be met by the screen of a tablet. "Can someone please explain to me what the deal is with this Daniel here? I thought his name was Keith? Was that a lie? What do you mean he's back? I am sorry, I am just so confused right now and it's driving me nuts here."

Andy didn't know why, but it seemed her patience with nosey campers was growing thin that night. Maybe it was her protectiveness over Daniel now that he was back. But she said nothing, instead chewing on the inside of her cheek quietly. "Forgive me for not wanting to waste time now I'm finally me again. I think as a rule...as hard and confusing as it is on all of you...until another identity is implanted in your minds, you don't talk about how I should behave. Or, how nuts it drives you guys... See you later." And then he left.

She sighed, raising her right hand to pinch the bridge of her nose. "Damn it," Andy huffed under her breath. She didn't mean to upset him or anything. She let Daniel head off a bit before she turned and followed after him. Her steps were quicker than his so it didn't take her long to catch up with him, gently placing her hand on his shoulder. "Daniel, wait." Andy wasn't going to force him to stop, but hoped he wouldn't fight her.

Once he slowed down, she walked around him until they were face to face. Thankfully, no one else followed after them. Andy wanted a moment with Daniel without others hovering around asking questions or whatever else. "Look... I'm sorry." She sighed, slowly dropping her hand from his shoulder. "I'm happy you're back. Truly. I just..." Her voice trailed off as she squinted her eyes trying to find the way to explain how she felt. "It's very overwhelming," she finally said with a weak laugh.

Andy shifted her weight from one foot to another. "Your death changed me. I don't know what mom told you... But I tried so hard to save you. I let her take you away, hoping that her being a God was your best chance at survival. And then she showed up the next day, telling me you were dead." She cleared her throat, looking down at the ground as she tried not to let her emotions get the better of her. "I never got to see you again. All I had was this." Her right hand tugged a chain around her neck, pulling off the locket that was hidden beneath her shirt. She then took Daniel's hand and placed the necklace in his palm.

After a long moment, she inhaled deeply through her nose before speaking once again. "If you want to know what happened while you were gone I'll tell you. All of it." Andy gently took his arm, giving it a gentle tug. She led them over to a farther end of the beach where no one would bug them or eaves drop. Then she told Daniel everything. Every single detail that happened over the past year, stuff he'd want to know... Some stuff he wouldn't, like her night with Ajax. Then there was the trials, the fights, the romances. But then her words started to falter when she focused more on her own life, in particular the past couple days.

"You're return just happened at a time where I am not even remotely emotionally stable." Andy laughed at her own misery. At least she had that going for her. She ran her hand back through her hair and scratched her head. "Ajax asked for a break... Because I am conflicted." She didn't know how else to word it, but her gaze drifted off in the direction of Mason in time to see him kiss Eve's neck. Andy inhaled sharply, quickly looking away as she clenched her jaw. She took a moment to calm herself before looking back toward her brother. "That's everything," she crossed her heart with her right index finger and smiled.

Then as if a large red target was painted on her back, Sylas seemed to miraculously appear, joining the two of them. Andy nearly cursed under her breath at his arrival. How much had he heard? That's all she needed was him taking her words and whispering them to Mason like a snake.

"Evening," Sylas said with a smile, raising his glass in a greeting toward Andy and Daniel. "I don't believe we've met. I'm Sylas," he said to Daniel, offering him his hand in a polite greeting. Honestly, he had no real meaning behind him crashing the sibling bonding moment... beyond perhaps ruffling Andy's feathers a bit. He liked to see what the feisty girl had up her sleeve and what about her drove Mason mad.

Before Daniel could reply she sighed and spoke up. "He's Mason's new friend... And broke my nose during capture the flag." She looked between her brother and himself, giving her best smile.

"Still upset about that? It looks like it healed up nicely. Perks of being at the demigod camp." Sylas smirked, raising his glass to his lips and took a drink, before looking back toward Daniel. "Daniel...? Keith...? I bet you have an interesting story."

Andy had no reason not to like Sylas, outright at least. She didn't hear everything Liam said, but whatever had happened between them pissed off the son of Ares unlike she had ever seen. Then there was her own encounters with him. It definitely was enough for her to not to want to be overly friendly with him. That and not wanting every single thing she does being used as fuel for Mason. She hadn't noticed that her stance had shifted slightly so that she was standing partially in front of her brother. "If you're that curious, ask Mason."

Sylas smirked, tapping the side of his glass with his finger. "My my. She is a protective one, isn't she?"

Theo felt the somber mood among the trio he had approached. Alex was upset about a boy, and, although that wasn't anything new, it was much better than her being upset about all the other crap she had dealt with recently. Ajax was as brooding as ever, bearing the weight of being the leader of the camp's band of misfit demigods. Daniel was Daniel, a good thing in Theo's opinion. That mischievous confidence was back behind Daniel's eyes, and Theo realized just how much he had missed the troublemaker at camp. The son of Hecate spoke up, and Theo turned to listen to him. "Yes, you looked in a real predicament being drowned in lady companionship earlier."

Theo couldn't help but crack a smile. Daniel was unmistakably back and already throwing playful barbs int he direction of the veteran camp members. "Oh yeah, it was dreadful. Too bad for them that I don't have the taste for one night stands any more," he stole a look over his shoulder towards Trinity and Wes as he spoke before cutting his gaze to the sand. Luckily, Daniel didn't pry and decided to turn the conversation to a more serious note.

"We were previously discussing who would make a good second in command. If I had to be responsible I was thinking you," Theo looked up at him to see if Daniel was sincere. It seemed as if he was. Theo simply shrugged as Daniel spoke again, trying to catch his drunk mind up with the idea of leading the camp, "If I was being myself though, I'd vote for me."

This drew a real laugh out of Theo, "Somethings never change. Good to have you back Daniel. Camp needs just your kind of spark. Maybe it should be you."

Almost as if on cue, Daniel shot up. He had never been one to sit still for long, and he was clearly ready to get back to the festivities."You know this is supposed to be a party. Why don't you fellas get off your butts and make some girl's night by asking her to dance? You too, Alex." Theo watched as Daniel walked off. As much as he wanted to follow him, he was making a bee line straight for the group Trinity was sitting with. Theo wanted no part of that. Theo figured there wasn't much else for him to do at the party. He had made his rounds, met some people, and he wasn't planning on hitting up the closet. He nodded to Ajax and Alex, "You guys come back safe. Catch you later."

With that Theo started the trek back to his cabin, taking one last quick look towards the party. For the night, even if he was a mess himself, camp was happy and peaceful... for the most part. The boy could smile at that.

Sylas's attention turned toward the newest development of the game, watching as Mason and Andy stepped into the closet. He raised his hand to scratch his jaw as he glanced around. Regardless if Mason ever said it out loud or not, this was what he wanted. Andy. He had to keep himself from smirking at thought of Ajax's hatred at the sight. No doubt it took everything in the son Zeus not to intervene. Sylas contemplated making his way over to him, just to give him a little push. But before he moved his gaze froze on Alex.

The camp has seen more than its fair share of scuffles between Mason and Ajax, at this point it had grown to be expected every so often. Although the prospect of any fight was intriguing to Sylas, that's not what he wanted. He wanted to bring forth anger, hatred and disgust that people harbored deep inside. The dirty little demons they hid away from the world. Their true nature. He recalled Capture the Flag and the trial, the sharp and bitterly truthful words Andy exchanged with Alex. And then how easy the daughter of Zeus was to trigger with a fraction of his powers.

He only allowed himself a brief smirk before he made his way across the beach. Sylas snagged up a cup of something from the refreshment table, a beverage in a red solo cup that no one ever questioned. With the drink in hand, he made his way over to Alex. "I hope you don't mind me saying, but you look stunning this evening." When she reached out to take the cup from him, Sylas's other hand gently took her wrist in his. He made sure that they stood close, intimately. So if anyone else saw them, nothing looked out of order beyond Alex flirting with yet another guy.

With the touch of her wrist, Sylas let his powers slowly flow into Alex. He first filled her mind with false thoughts about himself. Simple ideas, that made him not seem like the bad guy. He's charming and a good guy. It's just a drink. Simple persuasion so that she didn't recoil at his touch. Then he let the deeper thoughts coil through her subconscious. Of course, Andy gets what she wants... Mason alone in the closet. She loves him more than your brother. She'd do anything for him. What does she do for Ajax? Nothing. Ajax deserves better than her. The bitch spoke out against you at your trial. Andy would rather see you dead. But, she can't kill you... If she's dead first.

It was never a secret when a Zeus child was angry. The sky began to rumble as dark clouds slowly began to form. Luckily enough for Alex, that in the dark of the night they were unseen. Her jaw was clenched and nostrils flared. Veins protruded from her neck while her knuckles went white with rage. Her anger was like that of an Ares kid, seeing red... tunnel vision. All that continued to circle through her mind was Andy. The bitch that toys with her brother. The whore who has to have Mason and Ajax. Self righteous bitch, who called her a murderer.

Before she had realized it, Alex had crossed the beach and was standing in front of the closet. No one tried to stop her. Or maybe they did, but she didn't notice. She didn't hesitate opening the door with so much force it was a surprise it didn't rip it off it's hinges. Inside stood Andy and Mason, chest to chest, lip to lip. Alex didn't even take a moment to assess the situation or take it in. Instead, her hand reached out and took a fistful of Andy's hair. Then with a forceful jerk, she yanked the brunette from Mason's arms and threw her down onto the ground.

Andy had no idea what was going on as she was flung face first into the sand. She barely had time to spit the grains out of her mouth before Alex was there. She jerked Andy over onto her back and pinned her down on the ground. Still in a state of shock, she didn't have a chance to block Alex's first punch which clipped her in the jaw. Before she had a chance to swing again, Andy put up her hands. With the use of her powers she launched Alex off of her, throwing her several feet backwards.

"What in the hell are you doing, you psychotic bitch!?" Andy shouted toward Alex as they both climbed to their feet. Thunder crashed overhead, the rumbling shaking beneath their feet. Then the skies opened up causing a deluge of rain to fall from the heavens like a monsoon.

Image

Alex charged toward her, slamming her shoulder into Andy's chest and tackling her to the ground. It wasn't like the fights most girls had, screaming, pulling hair and slapping each other. This was the type of fight that could only happen at a place like this, rage in their eyes, attacking with meaning and intent to kill. It all moved so quickly, one minute Alex was on top and then another it was Andy. Neither one of them was in control for long, just enough to get in a good punch or two.

For awhile, it all was a blur. They both were bloody and soaked by the rain, slamming each other into the ground, pinning each other down and throwing fists. At one point, Alex wormed her way behind her opponent. Her feet hooked around Andy's waist, while she gripped her in a tight choke hold. For a minute, Andy struggled, clawing at Alex's arms and coughing as she tried to breath. She had to push the panic aside, trying to think through the rage and rain to find a way out. Finally, she threw her head back, slamming it into Alex's nose and dug her elbow into her side.

That was a pivotal turning point. They no longer just wanted to win but were out for blood. The punches were more direct, with all their strength. Their faces were cut, bruised and bloodied while the rain had them drenched and the sand clung to them as they rolled around. Profanities were muffled by the sounds of thunder. Knuckles were split. But neither one of them gave in.

The fight looked like it might never let up until one of them was dead. In one of the shifts of power, Andy managed to rotate her body and pin Alex to the ground, like they both had done several times before. But unlike before, her legs pinned Alex's torso with her arm stretched up along Andy's chest. She had the daughter of Zeus in an arm lock, and for a brief moment, she contemplated snapping it right on the elbow.

Andy kept her grip tight and jaw clenched as Alex struggled beneath her. But from under her soaked brunette locks she looked around and through the mist of the rain, she saw all the campers watching them. She growled, releasing Alex's arm and shoved her away with her foot. Andy stood up and spit at the ground next to daughter of Zeus's head. "You should be fucking rotting in Tartarus. Murderer," She kicked wet sand toward Alex before she turned and started to walk away.

Image Electricity began to crackle in the air around Alex as she moved to her feet. "I am not a MURDERER!" she screamed. Then a bright bolt of lightning surged down from the sky and slammed into Andy. The blast threw her back several feet in the air and then she crashed into the ground. She skidded through the sand, convulsing from the shock until she collided with a tree, knocking her unconscious. Steam rose from her skin in the cool rain, as Andy's body laid motionless in the sand.

Alex was still in a fit of rage and began to storm after Andy, even though the girl no longer posed as a threat. But Ajax was there, wrapping his arms around her to stop her from finishing the job.

"Al, that's enough!" His voice was firm as he kept his hold on her as tightly as he could.

Alex spat the blood out of her mouth as she turned her head and glared right at Mason. This was both of their faults. They had no doubt planned this all along so they could be together. If Mason wanted to fight her to defend Andy's honor? Then he was more than welcome to try. "YOU WANTED THIS ALL ALONG!" she yelled, not caring who was watching, or what they thought about her. "GET OFF ME!" She ripped herself out of her brother's hold on her. She didn't mean to lash out at him, he knew that, but with how angry she was, she was unpredictable.

Image"It's a shame they only threw him in Tartarus as he deserves death.. and one day!? I'll do it myself." She growled the threat through her teeth, though it was more a promise than a threat."He's a parasite.. just like you."

Ajax pointed in Andy's direction as he still kept hold of Alex. "Someone..." He didn't dare to think that she was anything other than just unconscious. Although her body remained motionless. "Take her to the infirmary. Al, stop now... it's not worth it."

Image Suddenly, Andy was thrown away from him and Mason hurried out of the closet. Before there was a chance to deescalate matters, fists were thrown, a storm raged overhead and the two girls engaged in combat.

Mason clenched his jaw and grit his teeth hating when Alex had the upper hand on Andy. That Zeus bitch had no right. Silently, he cheered Andy on and as much as he wanted to tear Alex off her, and get the animal away from Andy, Mason knew better than to intervene on a one on one fight, much more a girl one on one with plenty of rage behind it. There was nothing he could do except watch, tense as ever as they continued their brawl aching to hurt Alex.

Andy ended the fight when she could have snapped Alex's arm and he so badly wanted that outcome, but she walked away instead. He exhaled slightly in relief that Andy was free. But the rest happened so quickly. Alex screamed and sent a bolt of lighting at Andy. The daughter of Hecate hurdled through the air like a doll, skidded along the sand and hit a tree. Mason put one foot forward to fucking end Alex before he saw the state of Andy. Mason ran to her side without a second thought, kneeling beside her. He hovered his hands over her, unsure how much electricity was coursing through her body still.

There was some extra commotion happening behind him between the Zeus kids. Apparently Alex still wanted a go and Mason sent her a death stare. "YOU WANTED THIS ALL ALONG!" she screamed again.

Every fibre in his being was urging him to shut her up. Punch her lights out and do the camp a favor and at least shut her up. She was a stupid bitch yet Andy needed him more. He turned his back to Alex, fuming, and carefully stroked away Andy's hair from her face. "Andy..." he said softly.

"It's a shame they only threw him in Tartarus as he deserves death.. and one day!? I'll do it myself." He replaced his hands in the sand ready to jump to his feet and hit her if she got any closer. "He's a parasite.. just like you." Mason clenched at the sand praying for strength to resist starting a fight of his own.

"Someone...Take her to the infirmary. Al, stop now... it's not worth it."

Because Alex was the one having a tough time and just got electrocuted. Mason slid his arms under Andy, cradling her to his chest before picking her up.

"Next time, shithead," he fought to keep his voice even though it came out through a growl, "how about you keep that bitch on a leash?"

Mason carried Andy to the infirmary. Something Ajax could have done but chose his sister's side instead. Mason travelled through shadow to get them there faster. Once in the infirmary, where everything smelt like disinfectant, he looked Andy over and lowered her down on a bed slowly and carefully. "Why do I always get stuck saving your ass?" he muttered, just before the staff rushed in and jostled him aside.

It wasn't a hobby of his to take Andy to the med bay but he preferred that than the alternative to let her suffer or be in pain. They bombarded him with questions like his relation to her, what happened, how long ago the incident occurred, most of which he answered. He was happy to stand back and watch until a doctor reached for her clothes. Mason lunged forward grabbing their wrist roughly. "What the hell are you doing?"

"We have to check her vitals and may have to run a few tests to determine the severity of the impact. In addition, it'd be nice for her not to wake up cold and dirty, wouldn't you agree? We don't want her coming down with some disease on top of it all."

Mason released the wrist and stepped back. That made sense. He was just so on edge and defensive. It was a stupid reaction. "Sorry," he said. "I'm sorry," he sighed out. He turned his back to them giving Andy and them a little privacy.

A minute or so might have passed but it felt far too long. When she was decent again, and some of the carers cleared out, Mason sat with her by the bedside. She looked so strange vulnerable, he wasn't used to seeing her in that state. Mason hesitantly caressed her arm gently with the pad of his thumb. Andy was strong but Alex's powers were strong too and he needed her to be okay. It was shit to think she got hurt in a fight because of him.

He sighed out, running his fingers back through his hair. Mason could feel it already, the inability to leave her alone in the infirmary.

Evelyn traced stray patterns in the damp sand deciding to spare fellow campers from interrogation and jumping through the mental hoops. She tilted her head back and closed her eyes sighing out to herself.

She had potentially met one of the nicest guys on camp and chose to test him and Heath instead. Even if a normal conversation was bland and dull, it was better than engaging in debate about the value of truth verse manners. Evelyn glanced in the direction of the fire and observed the odd mix of leftovers. The quiet blonde and Trinity, interesting. She wondered if the smaller one would come out unscathed. Then the bottle was passed into Mason's hands. She ended up closing her eyes and trying to relax, or let go of that habit to observe everything and everyone around her anyway. That was until she heard a rumble in the sky. Then she saw Alex pacing up to the closet and ripping Andy out of there followed by a punch. She was so shocked that only the next crash of thunder reminded her she could be indirectly a target of Zeus's wrath. She quickly withdrew her feet from the water and jumped up only to be drowned in rain. Yet like many of her peers, she could only watch in amazement: amazement that the two girls could hold so much rage and violence towards one another and didn't care they were the spectacle of impulse.

Just as the dispute appeared to reach a conclusion, Alex yelled to the skies and sent lightning out at Andy. Evelyn jumped. It was only then Ajax decided to intervene. Evelyn hugged herself becoming transfixed on Andy's motionless body. There was no sign of obvious breaths from her distance and through the rain. When Mason picked the brunette up, Evelyn's eyes darted to the Valises. She thought about offering them words of advice but in total truth, she didn't want to approach them. They wouldn't listen. After being deemed not guilty in the trial via the effects of a curse, Alex thought she was off probation and could endanger another life? It didn't make sense.

Evelyn's eyes scanned the last of the demigods on the beach gauging their response. The party was well and truly over and it wasn't safe with all the voltage coursing through the air. She didn't need enhanced senses to pick up on such a shift in the environment on its many levels. Without any more to do and nothing to say, Evelyn headed for the path, her soaked red hair plastered to her pale skin.

Of course, how could 7 minutes in heaven not end dramatically?

Trinity all but sipped on her drink when shit hit the fan. She rushed forward to see Alex and Andy trading blows and rolling about the sand for the upper hand. Her jaw set and fists clenched, edging closer to the fight but she couldn’t interfere as long as the odds were even. As much as the girls were out to kill each other, they played fair. And the rage in them needed to be released.

That was until Andy got barbequed by lightning. Mason hurried in the direction of Andy as Alex raved on and on at him. She watched him pick her up and have words said through his teeth with Ajax, then disappear. Trinity marched up to the Valises and shoved Ajax, trying to part the siblings. “Let her go Ajax, she could go another round!” she demanded, locking her fiery gaze on Alex, challenging and provoking her. “I tried to sympathise with you! You have no damn excuse for touching Andy.” Her nostrils flared and steam could emanate from her own body she was so mad.

She looked at Ajax next and jabbed a finger at him. “And you, people expect better of you. You're supposed to be a leader, but all you see and care about is your sister who frankly, puts the camp more at threat than helps it! You're both out of fucking control.” Her chest heaved as she had finally let it out. She sure didn't trust Alex and now she was losing faith in Ajax. Couldn't he have diverted the lightning or something? She thought he was the more powerful out of the two but he did nothing and continued to do nothing except hold Alex. “Wake up, Ajax! Your sister isn't the only one who needs you!” Trinity pushed Alex. She really was the golden girl, but not to Trinity and if she wasn't all bruised and battered already, Trinity would have swung. Even if Alex didn't deserve better. But the moment Alex broke free of Ajax and had a go, Trinity would retaliate and that's what she hoped for.

Image Daniel's eyes narrowed into a suspicious squint when Sylas traced his neck and an answer departed his mouth. "Demigods are a lot... rougher than mortals. Not that I'm complaining." Daniel inclined his chin as if in understanding, as if the answer was fair but there was suggestion packed under it with that smirk of his. One Daniel couldn't really do anything about, nor even be certain of the source. But he just hoped it wasnt a certain red head. She didn't seem like the kind to get super kinky and rough but...behind closed doors... the thought was disturbing.

Unlike his far more expressive sister, Daniel moved on to the next subject and pretended all was fine. And Sylas went along willingly. "Happy to oblige. I'm sure you're thrilled to have your brother 'back'. It seems that your sister here has a habit of being at the epicenter of drama here."

Daniel frowned and looked at Andy, who seemed just as taken back by the comment. And so unfolded another tense conversation between the two that resulted in Andy walking off.

Daniel reached for her arm, but Andy was gone like the wind leaving Daniel standing there as an awkward spectator. "So you and her...not the best of friends I'm sensing." He nodded to himself as that was all but confirmed throughout their entire interaction.

Not long after, Mason's bottle landed on Andy and the world went bibbity bobbity boo, here's some drama for you. A vicious fight unfolded. Alex conjured some torrential rain with her storm then threw lightning at Andy. Daniel tried to catch her, or cushion the blow with his magic but it happened too fast and she slammed into a tree. "Andy!" Mason was by her in a heartbeat, but the rest of the noise and surroundings Daniel blocked out. Alex looked like a savage animal, being held back by its trainer.

He shook his head. What the hell was wrong with her. Trinity stormed up to the Valises and in that moment he could only think one thing. Good. Break her arm and his nose like Andy should have. But he didn't have time to stick around and witness the event or thank her in advance. He looked back to where he last saw Mason and Andy but they were gone. Daniel broke into a run to join them, hitting aside branches, slipping up just before the infirmary then surged forward through the door. He stopped dead when he saw Mason and Andy. He was confronted by how poor she looked. "You actually brought her to the infirmary...thank you," he said and started forward.

Daniel slowly sunk into a conjured chair by Andy's other side. "Is she okay?"

"She's fine. They're keeping her stable at least and warm from what I can tell."

Daniel just nodded. "You know I - "

"It's not your fault." Mason cut off, his eyes trained on Andy. "You're not the one that summoned the lightning and you're not the cause."

Daniel looked his sister's motionless body over. "Whoever's fault it is, my sister's stuck in the infirmary." That was his first priority. Deal with Andy's situation then they could debate whose fault it was.

ImageDuke was stumped, and he was usually one who had a practical approach to everything. But Alex and Andy pummeled into each other like a couple of Ares kids then Alex sent lightning at the brunette. He watched Andy anxiously before he lowered his head, glaring away from the scene. This was all wrong, Alex was supposed to be getting to herself and being better. Calling lightning to strike a fellow demigod wasn't the way to go about it and it'd only turn the others against her or at least look upon her unfavorably.

Duke growled to himself in frustration then heard some more yelling. Trinity was in front of the Zeus siblings, antagonizing them. He walked up to them quickly before another fight broke out and put himself between the two girls holding out his arms. "Take it easy. Everybody needs to simmer down." He slowly lowered his hands, looking between both the parties then rested on the Zeus siblings. "I think you two should go." The party was over so it wasn't as if Duke was banning them from the now non-existent fire. "I think we should all retire for the night," he said, focusing on Trinity again.

Erasing the night couldn't be done with a simple sleep but for now, he just needed everybody to go their separate ways. Tomorrow the Valises would be gone from campgrounds and maybe that would allow some emotions to cool off and people to gain perspective again. More importantly, demigods could take the time as an opportunity to train and gain control of themselves. The trip to Olympus was needed, for the Valises and others as a break from the Valises.

When he was sure people had vacated the beach, Duke finally sighed and massaged his temples. He pursed his lips and cleaned up the bottles abandoned on the sand and leftover food. He'd usually give up on somebody by now but he couldn't give up on Alex and Ajax. Even when they were unwilling to change. But it couldn't be forgotten that Gods were cruel, and maybe that power in a half-human went to their head. Duke didn't like to consider it but it was possible.

With the beach cleaned up to the best of his ability or what he could see anyway, Duke headed to the Valis cabin. He didn't know if Alex would be fuming still or crying , but even through this hardship it was important they didn't disappear without telling the others, or at least a few, they were going with their father tomorrow. Besides, Duke wanted to see how they were going. "You two okay?" Duke approached Ajax, patting his shoulder. Some things were said to him that would play on his mind no matter how stone-faced he was. "I can stay here the night, and depart with you two in the morning. I also think you should try to talk to Andy before we go," he added lowly. "Vanishing without a word is only going to make things worse."

"Next time, shithead, how about you keep that bitch on a leash?"

Before Ajax could even give mason a warning, one daughter of Ares marched on over in their direction and shoved into him which made him drop his hold on Alex who stepped up to his side, her eyes watching the blonde.

Image “Let her go Ajax, she could go another round!” she yelled, locking her fiery gaze on Alex. “I tried to sympathise with you! You have no damn excuse for touching Andy.” Her nostrils flared.

Alex Scoffed, "Right... That's rich coming from the one who can't keep her own hands to herself."

"Al..." Ajax tells her, hoping she won't throw gasoline to the already blazing fire. Trinity turned her attention back onto him with a jab of her finger in his chest. He took a step back and just watched as she laid into him, giving him all her rage. “And you, people expect better of you." Ajax swallowed. it wasn't from fear, it was because most of the camp knew he had leadership issues, and now Trinity thought she could use it against him to cut him down before everyone that was staring on in shock. It wasn't like they hadn't seen drama before, but the way Alex lashed out at Andy, that was the tip of the iceberg with the daughter of Hecate now unconscious before Mason managed to carry her off to the infirmary. "You're supposed to be a leader, but all you see and care about is your sister who frankly, puts the camp more at threat than helps it! You're both out of fucking control. Wake up, Ajax! Your sister isn't the only one who needs you!” she wasn't wrong, and she was only fueled by witnessing her friend being hurt.

"Shut your damn mouth!" Alex growled toward Trinity, causing Ajax to clench his jaw. As he closed his eyes for a second or two to take a deep breath, Trinity pushed her before Alex pushed her right back, shoving the blonde back as hard as she could. His sister seriously needed to learn when to keep quiet. "Push me again.. I dare you!" Alex yelled seconds before Duke walked up to them quickly before another fight broke out. He held out his arms between both girls. "Take it easy. Everybody needs to simmer down." Alex's glared after Trinity, but she remained where she was as Duke slowly lowered his hands, looking between both the parties then rested on the Zeus siblings. "I think you two should go." Ajax nodded and steered his fuming sister away from the rest of the camp and back to their cabin. If he was right at thinking everyone was watching them leave, then he could feel the glares burning into his back as the pair of them walked away, leaving the tension to linger in the air like a bad smell.

Image It was peaceful back at the cabin, so Ajax lightly ordered his sister to take a seat as he grabbed the medical kit from the kitchen to patch her up.

She placed herself down on one of the chairs at the breakfast table, holding out her arm that seemed to be the most cut. "what's gotten into you lately? why are you so destructive all of a sudden? you were proven innocent, so you should have ignored the murder comment from Andy. All you're doing is proving them right about you. They are going to think you're better off away from this place. You'll end up by yourself if you keep pushing people away all the time."

I don't know why I pulled her out of that closet, I just... did."

"Well, this all has to stop, or they're all going to turn against us. Especially our friends, or those that somehow respect us still. Maybe this trip will do us both some good. You especially."

The door opened behind, and as Alex winced in pain from the stuff Ajax was applying to her skin, Duke entered the room. "You two okay?" Duke approached Ajax, patting his shoulder. Ajax sighed heavily down his nose, shifting slightly in his seat before he nodded and dabbed more of the medical stuff on Alex's cuts before placing bandaids over the top. "I can stay here the night, and depart with you two in the morning. I also think you should try to talk to Andy before we go," he added lowly. "Vanishing without a word is only going to make things worse."

Image
"Al, go pack while I talk to Duke... please." for once, she did as she was told. She stood up, looking at them both briefly before heading up the stairs.

Ajax sat there for a moment in silence as he played with his fingers and waited until he heard the door of Alex's room close behind her.

"Stay if you want, but as much as I want to, do you really think she's going to want to see me or speak to me after what just happened?" Ajax looked at him as if searching for that very answer. "As soon as she wakes, Mason is going to be the knight in shining armor after being there for her, sitting by her side in the infirmary while her so-called, whatever I am to her is here, tending to his.... unhinged sister." He hated that word. "And Trinity's right... I'm not fit to lead. All I have cared about, is Alex. I haven't thought about the others much at all. It's why Andy went to him... I've not shown her much love. He has. She was lonely. He reeled her into where exactly he wanted her and knows it will get to me. Should I fight for her? absolutely, but if she loves him, why should I try and convince her otherwise? I don't own her, I just...I don't know what I want. I love her, but... I'm afraid of being vulnerable to her." he quickly wipes his eyes, not wanting to even show how broken he felt lately, along with everything Trinity threw at him. His doubts to lead even stronger since Trinity more than likely spoke for most of them. "...I'll try." he didn't want her to hate him more than she already possibly did.

He handed the medical kit to Duke and thanked his friend before he headed out the door and towards the infirmary hoping she was alright.

Image Alex remained in her room, and just lay there, her eyes fixed on the ceiling as she thought about everything since she came to camp. It was all a mess, and she could tell how much she had changed. If Duke had agreed to stay for the night, at least with him around it would feel normal for both the Valises. Just the three of them like old times. Before Camp. "Duke..." She called out for him, hoping he was still in the cabin. How were they ever going to move on from any of this now? Alex and Andy couldn't exactly avoid each other with being on the same campus, and no doubt everyone hated Alex even more now. Especially her friends who always tried to help.

Image Alex felt like she was drowning all over again. She reached up, stretching her hand towards the surface as the air slowly left her body as the weight of her guilt, anger, and pain pulled her further down to the depth of the ocean.

Wild tendrils wrapped tightly around her ankles. As she sunk deeper and deeper, the voices of those she knew and loved became distant as they began to forget she ever existed.

That was where she'd remain if things didn't change...

Cold, and alone.

Forever.

It took her a little off guard that when she finished speaking, Liam seemed to nearly smirk to himself. Sloane couldn't help but replay everything she said in her head over and over on repeat wondering what she could have said that would warrant that response. Nothing came up, but it still puzzled her. But she didn't let on that it did, instead remaining quiet and patient for him to speak up in response.

"You're happy, I'm happy. I think maybe we're both making progress here," he finally spoke breaking the silence. When Sloane looked up to meet Liam's gaze, she could see the exhaustion that tugged at his eyelids and threatened to carry him off into a deep slumber. "You want to be here, I want you to be here. The world is simple, Sloane." She let out a quiet chuckle as he patted her leg as if it really was that simple. Nothing was, she knew that and he knew that. But in that moment, that particular night she would humor him with a subtle head nod. It was simple, for now.

Liam took a moment to let the silence sink in or perhaps his words. He didn't seem to be in a rush to move from where he sat, rather letting himself sink further back into the couch using her shins as arm rests. "I'm just..." He began to speak, but his eyes closed. Sloane figured it was a matter of time before his eyes closed for good, and would not open until morning. "I'm just glad we can all agree you'll stay. We got a lot of work to do, Sloane. A lot of work. Bright and early in the morning - you, me, and training. What do you say?"

Before Sloane had a chance to answer, Liam's head got heavy resting against the back of the couch while his breathing grew deeper. She had no intentions in arguing his point, but even if she did it would fall on deaf ears. She found herself smiling slightly as she let out a soft sigh and relaxed back into the sofa. For a brief moment she contemplated slipping her legs out from under him and helping the giant into a laying position, but she doubted she'd be able to get free, let alone adjust him in any fashion.

She grabbed a blanket that was draped over the armrest and covered them both with it. Sloane wasn't even fully settled when Rocco trotted out into the living room and pawed at her hand. With a little help, the puppy climbed up onto her lap and found a small spot to curl up in between herself and his sleeping owner. Just as she began to doze off, the sound of thunder rumbling overhead followed by a loud crack of lightning startled not only herself by the small dog. Sloane gently petted Rocco's head trying to calm him as her brows furrowed. She couldn't explain it but something about the sudden storm caused her stomach to churn. And for some reason the only thought that came to mind... was Sylas.

***

Well, it turned out bright and early was indeed bright as the sunlight poured in from the windows waking Sloane from her slumber. But it wasn't all that early. It seemed that the alcohol took a heavy toll on Liam. As she stretched, Rocco waddled up to her, tail waging, and greeted her with a few slobbery morning kisses. When she finally went to sit up she noticed that at some point during the night Liam shifted to be more on the couch while she used his legs as pillows.

Sloane cleared her throat as she quickly stood up. She spared the son of Ares a glance over her shoulder who remained asleep on the couch. So, rather than wake him up, she stretched once more and then headed toward the door. Rocco slept through the evening but she doubted he could hold it much longer. And since Liam had a strong possibility of a hangover whenever he woke up, she took it upon herself to let him sleep as long as he needed. Once at the door she grabbed Rocco's leash and hooked it to the pup's collar. The little guy sprinted outside the second the door was opened, Sloane slowly following after him. She descended a few of the stairs before taking a seat on the edge of the porch.

Sylas didn't move from where he stood as Alex stormed off in the direction of the closet. He was happy to stand there, a spectator, and watch as the following events unfold. If the circumstances were different, he might have taken more credit for the daughter of Zeus's unwinding. But he only gave the girl a nudge in a direction she was already heading down.

Unfortunately for him, the fight seemed to end quicker than he would have liked. It would have been far more interesting if people would have intervened. Luckily Liam and his sister were long gone, both of whom would have tried to intersect him before he even got to Alex in the first place. It wasn't much, but it was a start. Although the end of the fight concluded far more climactically than he would have expected with a large bolt of lightning throwing the daughter of Hecate along the beach.

It seemed that during all the commotion of the storm and fighting, the quiet one started up her own whirlwind. He squinted his eyes in her direction briefly, trying not to show too much curiosity or irritation. Was she trying to defuse the fight or draw attention to herself? It seemed the mousey blonde was as unstable as the rest of the campers, but she didn't need his help in going over the deep end. It didn't quite match up in his mind though. Why would she react in such a way? Either way, the events had quickly brought a party to an end.

Sylas slipped out while everyone else was wrapped up in the aftermath and started down the path toward the cabins. Several steps in front of him, he noticed a particular red head going in a similar direction. Given the circumstances, he decided to remain back although the temptation to approach her was definitely there. Once the paths diverted, he looked towards the back of Evelyn's head a final time before he headed toward his own cabin.

Wes kept to himself, sitting there quietly as Trinity wondered off into the closet with Iliana. And then before he knew it the bottle was passed off to Mason, which got Andy a second go at the tight quarters. It seemed as though the evening was winding down as people disappeared off into the woods towards the cabins. With a soft sigh, Wes pushed off his seat and made his way over to Trinity. He gently placed his hand on her back to get her attention. "I think I'm going to—"

Before he could finish what he was saying the sky above began to go grey and rumble in a way that only a child of Zeus could have conjured. Wes's gazed scanned the crowd and only found Alex the moment she ripped open the door to the closest and took Andy by the hair, throwing her into the sand. The sky's opened up and quickly covered the beach in a deluge of rain. Wes was on Trinity's heels as she hurried forward to get a better view of the fight.

It was an unsettling sight... Watching his best friend and her best friend going for blood in the sand before them. No one dared get in the middle of it. Both girls were deadly in terrifying ways, Alex with sheer power and strength, while Andy had whatever her mind could conjure up. Some blows were so hard and powerful he found himself flinching. At one point he even considered using his own powers to calm everyone down, but in the end he decided it wasn't his place. Sometimes it seemed that the only way to put a vendetta to rest was to let a little blood be spilled.

The fight felt like it went on for ages and neither of them seemed to lose steam. Finally, it seemed to seize... But, Andy had one final word as she walked away. Murderer was all he heard before the beach illuminated as lightning slammed into the daughter of Hecate. It seemed as though everyone else was quick into action while Wes remained frozen in place, falling quickly to the background. He watched as campers were at each other's throats. Mason looked like he was about to murder the Valises while Ajax tried his best to hold back Alex.

Wes didn't step forward until he saw Trinity bee line for Ajax, giving him a good shove. "Let her go Ajax, she could go another round! I tried to sympathize with you! You have no damn excuse for touching Andy."

"Right... That's rich coming from the one who can't keep her own hands to herself." Wes remained there, a few feet behind Trinity but remained removed. Deep down he hoped that another fight didn't break out. He didn't want to think of Trinity and Alex throwing punches next. He simply remained quiet and vigilant watching as the remaining events unfold.

"And you, people expect better of you." Trinity directed her anger at Ajax next. "You're supposed to be a leader, but all you see and care about is your sister who frankly, puts the camp more at threat than helps it! You're both out of fucking control. Wake up, Ajax! Your sister isn't the only one who needs you!” Things started getting physical as Trinity shoved Alex.

"Shut your damn mouth!" Alex pushed Trinity back, using all of her strength. Wes didn't know if it was lucky or not that he stood behind Trinity. She stumbled back into his chest where he stabled her, keeping the daughter of Ares from falling over. Wes's hands kept ahold of her upper arms, not in a way to hold her back or stop her, because he knew damn well not to get in her way when she was angry, but to just be there. Through their physical touch he could feel her emotions and knew that a lot of it stemmed from her concern for Andy. She was worried.

"Push me again.. I dare you!"

Wes was about to speak up, maybe try to defuse the situation but Duke showed up first, putting himself between them. "Take it easy. Everybody needs to simmer down."

"Hasn't anyone told you that telling people to calm down doesn't help anything?" Wes gave a sad attempt at a smile and chuckle. He wasn't very good at helping keep the peace. But this time, was one of the few times he used his powers. Not much, but enough to sooth everyone. Nothing more.

"I think you two should go," he said toward Ajax and Alex. Then he looked back toward Trinity, even though his words seemed to be geared toward everyone who remained on the beach. "I think we should all retire for the night."

Wes didn't pay much attention to what Duke said. He knew the guy meant well and was doing more than anyone else when it came to ending the fights, but the whole thing was delicate. He slowed moved in front of Trinity, keeping his hands resting gently on her shoulders. "I'm sure Mason has already gotten Andy to the infirmary. If anyone can help her, they can." He let his grip slowly slip from her arms and took her right hand in his left.

There was nothing else he could say, so instead he said nothing. Wes guided her slowly off the beach and through the woods towards the cabins. He remained quiet so she could yell, complain or worry however she wanted and he would listen. When they reached the path that diverted between his cabin and hers, he gave Trinity's hand a gentle squeeze. "If you don't want to be alone, you're more than welcome to stay with me. I can sleep on the couch. And first thing in the morning we can go check on Andy... If anything changes before then I'm sure Mason would tell you."

He then took a step forward, placing a tender kiss on her forehead. "Whatever you need, I'm here." It was a strange place, being in his shoes at that moment. Wes was Switzerland in the middle of a war between people he cared about. For the first time he could see the fragile place Andy has been for over a year now. But regardless of him not choosing sides, he would still be there for Trinity, no matter what.

Image "Stay if you want, but as much as I want to, do you really think she's going to want to see me or speak to me after what just happened? As soon as she wakes, Mason is going to be the knight in shining armor after being there for her, sitting by her side in the infirmary while her so-called, whatever I am to her is here, tending to his.... unhinged sister." Duke sighed, as if mirroring Ajax’s defeat, because that’s how he spoke, like it was over. I'm afraid of being vulnerable to her."

Duke stared hard at Ajax for some time. Everything coming out of his mouth was sincere but Duke didn’t give love advice, he was hardly qualified. "Don’t let others sink under your skin. I know it’s easier said than done but you have to stick to your own guns. Be your own person. Don’t get sucked into their worlds and views." That didn’t cover his Andy dilemma too well and even Duke felt like the conversing was incomplete. With a sigh, he continued. "Showing vulnerability is a good way to demonstrate trust. You got to stop fighting battles alone, nobody can do it."

There was thickness in the air before Ajax responded. "...I'll try." he finally said.

"At least if you see her you'll know you tried. You're at least giving her the common courtesy." Duke shook Ajax's hand firmly letting him know he still had an unbreakable ally as he took the med kit with his free hand.

Then they parted, Duke stranded with the medical bag in the middle of the Valis cabin. "Duke..." Alex called out for him.

For what he didn't know, but he headed towards her voice hurriedly and flung open the med kit. "What do you need? What's the matter?" She hadn't called him with urgency but his mind went to the worse. Better to be ready that way. He finally looked to Alex, her eyes miles away and staring vacantly at the ceiling. Duke seemed to understand then it was more emotional help than physical help.

He carefully sat on the edge of her bed, looking her over. "Do you want to talk about it?" Not that he was a particularly good therapist but if she needed to talk and unload, he was there.

After the long night and being there for the kids of Zeus, Duke crashed on their couch.

"It's what I am here for," the girl spoke up after Andy thanked her. "Not all of us are selfish or wanting to cause some kind of harm. We are all in this together, so... if you need me any further, I am here. For both of you. My friend Rae is, too, as off-putting as she can be. We are good people, that's why we help. There is no other reason than that. Truly."

Part of Andy wanted to believe that, but it seemed that over the past year the darker sides of many of them have clawed their way out. But she didn't say anything. She didn't want to seem ungrateful or rude to a girl she barely knew. So, instead, she nodded her head and gave a slight smile.

"You may need pain medication because I needed to heal your head first, and there was... a lot of damage. I'll come to you and heal the rest a little bit later?"

"Thank you, again." Andy adjusted how she sat before continuing. "Please don't feel like you need to do that. I'm sure I'll be ok." Her gaze lingered over to Mason, who'd probably argue the opposite and demand she remains in bed until the girl could come back and finish healing her.

Mason actually managed to smile, once they were alone and she thanked him for staying with her. "I like the leverage it gets me." His smile only seemed to grow after that.

"And what kind of leverage is that?" She managed her own smile and soft chuckle.

"You'd do the same for me." And he was right. Andy would do the same thing for him in a heart beat. No questions asked.

After she asked about what happened, Mason sighed. By the look on his face he was trying to decide what to say, or perhaps where to start. "I don't know if you were unconscious when you hit your head or from the lightning strike itself. But you were in bad shape....a lot of people were scared." He nodded at the other empty seat beside her. Andy's gazed lingered over there briefly before looking back toward him. "Daniel was here all night with you too. But um I got a million curses to join my father in Tartarus and death, took you here." A sad smile crossed her face at the thought of her brother sitting there worrying all night. She had been in his place and knew the torment. Then the thought of Mason getting threats to join his father in Tartarus only made her groan. It didn't take much for her to guess that it was Alex who said this. But last time Andy checked, the daughter of Zeus was a murderer. Not Mason.

"Pretty sure the party disbanded after that. They had to get you dry and changed. Soon as it's okay, I'll get you out of here." Mason nodded toward the hospital gown that she wore. She hadn't even had the chance to notice it.

Then it grew silent for a bit. Andy remained patient and quiet as she sat there, although her stomach knotted as the seconds ticked on. Mason looked around the med hut, as if worried that someone was there who would over hear. "At the moment I'm just worried about you." She glanced down slightly, letting out a soft sigh. "I know you're strong and resilient but I don't want to be the cause of you getting hit by Zeus' kids again."

Andy's brows furrowed as her face saddened. She tried to sit up and lean closer to him, but her ribs had another idea. She winced slightly and whispered under her breath. "Pain meds, right." She took a deep breath before looking him in the eyes. "This is not your fault. Alex and I have been at odds for awhile now. I don't know what caused her to lash out like that, but she's about as stable as an atomic bomb. I'm sure on top of everything else, she blames me... and you," she added softly under her breath. "For breaking her brother's heart."

She paused for a long second, staring at the blanket that rested across her lap. "And Ajax... I don't think he'd ever lay a hand on me." At least she hoped. "I'm more worried about you," she said softly, under her breath like she was worried someone else could over hear. "They blame you for everything. That you poison and taint me, turning me against him." Her face twisted as the anger boiled in her. "Like I'm not capable of making my own decisions or have my own thoughts. That my indecision has to be because of you manipulating me, not me trying to figure out what I want... What makes me happy."

Then there was silence as Andy took a deep breath. "I just want to be happy," she whispered, concluding her rant.

Andy had accepted that that was probably the end of the conversation. Mason was never the type to talk about his feelings, unless they were negative. But then he spoke up. "I can't get the closet out of my mind either." It was one simple sentence, but the words churned in her stomach making her heart skip a beat. She could feel her cheeks turning pink as she diverted her gaze. Andy didn't have the time to think on the closet, but that didn't mean it wasn't there in her mind... lingering. He kissed her. That happened. But she also kissed him back.

Then, in the quiet, Mason's hand reached out and took hers, sliding his fingers between hers. The simple touch pulled her out of her mind and back to the present. She slowly let her gaze drift back over to him, although no words fell from her lips. Part of her worried that no matter what she said, or did... She'd somehow do it wrong, like she always did.

"Maybe I shouldn't have kissed you. I know you're going through a couple of things and it was bad timing." Andy's brows fell as her expression became weighted with guilt. "I care about you a lot and I'm going to do my best to be here for you."

Before she had a chance to reply or say anything else, Iliana entered the infirmary. Subconsciously, Andy's grasp on Mason's hand tightened slightly, like the presence of someone into their bubble would cause him to withdrawal. She put on her best amiable smile as she looked toward the blonde, trying not to show her slight frustration with being interrupted. The girl quickly began to write in her notepad, before showing them what it said. "Sorry for the interruption. I seem to be doing that a lot this morning. Andy, I brought you some aloe if you had any burns. If you don't need it though it's fine. I'll just leave it here for the staff if you don't need it. I hope you feel better."

"Thank you," was all Andy could manage to say before the girl left as quickly as she entered.

Andy took the opportunity to gather her thoughts and figure out what she'd say. Her thumb lightly tapped Mason's hand in contemplation before she let out a soft breath. "It was inevitable. We both know it... I'm not particularly fond of the circumstances leading up to it," she admitted laughing weakly. It was no secret that she hated how her and Mason argued. But they both knew it wasn't because they hated each other... but because of something else. "I don't regret it," she whispered.

She stared at their hands for what felt like an eternity. It wasn't long ago, during capture the flag, that Andy told him she loved him. It was true. She would always love him. But that wasn't the question at hand. The question was how did she love him and who was she in love with. For months her head and her heart have been at odds. "You know how I feel," she said softly while giving his hand a tender squeeze. Andy didn't need to say anything else, he knew. And while there was more meaning behind both of their words neither one of them would say the important word until it was right and encompassed everything they felt. But even then, the fog slowly seemed to be lifting.

For awhile now, Andy's mind had been nothing but turmoil. But now with Daniel back, and the playing field in her mind leveled to even standards, things were changing. Piece by piece she could feel her head and heart slowly aligning. It was only a matter of time before it became clear to her what... or who she wanted. The more terrifying part was, no matter what she did, she'd hurt someone.

"Why? Are you offering?" Andy joked laughing. Mason grinned with her, an impressed brow shooting up before he could help it but thought his instant reply was better left unsaid. He'd do what he had to for Andy in this state but applying a gel for her wouldn't be one of the most painful chores.

As she inspected herself and questioned what might be healed or happened to her body, Mason shrugged. How was he to know if she did or didn't have burns or what Cherise's powers did. He supposed they could catch up with the doctor that might have been an amateur but actually half cared later.

Most of the conversation Andy seemed honest about her pain and comfort levels. Though Mason wasn't assured by her 5-6 pain lingering and her saying she was okay. She'd be okay when there was no pain and she was more mobile. God how he wanted to kill Alex.

"I would love something to eat and something to wear that isn't an itchy hospital gown. Even if it was just a t-shirt." Mason nodded. Anything next to a gown was an improvement no doubt. Then she grimaced and Mason waited for the explanation, what was hurting, where was the pain? "I hate being useless."

He shook his head almost glad to hear it was a bruised ego rather than physical. That wasn't the reality at all. "You're temporarily incapacitated. Not useless." For now she'd just have to take the services offered to her.

It seemed along the way maybe he did persuade her to accept her current circumstances and his help. "Alright. Just... make sure you get food for yourself. Ok?"

Mason got to his feet. "No promises," he replied knowing she'd probably hate that. But his stomach wasn't speaking to him and food wasn't on his mind. "I'll be quick. What do you want?" Women were generally fussy eaters and he didn't want to come back with the wrong order or something that didn't appeal to her appetite. Andy wasn't one of the princesses among camp but it didn't hurt to get what you wanted.

Mason exited the infirmary, coming to a halt when he saw Ajax's retreating figure. "Shit," he muttered. He sighed. They hadn't done anything wrong in his mind, but somehow, he felt he had managed to worsen conditions on the Andy and Ajax thread. He of course couldn't care less about Ajax's feelings but Andy happened to be attached to the son of Zeus. He glanced back over his shoulder then went to her cabin. Somehow Ajax's back didn't look like it was walking away to sneak in to visit her. Guess they'd cross that bridge when they came to it.

Mason didn't mind letting himself in her cabin but going through her clothes was new territory. He got to her room and froze not knowing where to begin. Did he have to get matching stuff or random? Delicates? Happy to stall the inevitable for a few seconds he instead searched for a bag to carry her clothes in because walking out of a cabin with a woman's clothes really wasn't a good look. Where was Trinity when needed? He cussed and grabbed everything: underwear, a dress, top and pants. That way everything was covered. He threw the bag over his shoulder and headed for the hall not stopping for anything or anyone.

Although as he was making Andy's breakfast, he did lift his head to see Iliana and Daniel talking. Judging by the grin on his face, it looked like he was back to thinking he was the funniest guy on earth. Mason smiled to himself. He could almost feel sorry for Iliana. Instead he crept out without saying anything, spotting two newbies side by side. Well one of them was the Hermes girl, Penny or something, that he offloaded on Liv and took Sylas into the closet last night but the other was super new. He gestured back the way he had come. "That way freshies. Food, tour guides, the whole deal." Now he didn't have to stop and chat to them as they passed.

He returned to the infirmary without any heavy confrontations. "Hey. How'd I do?" He placed her breakfast on the bedside table and let the bag slide down his arm to the chair. "Come on, sit up." He held out his arms as support if she needed when she tried to sit upright. Mason hated seeing the slow and painful progress though. He closed his arms around her tenderly, getting low enough so her chin could rest on his shoulder like a hug and lifted her up the bed cautiously then fixed up the pillows behind her. "Good girl," he said softly. Andy wasn't disabled or immobile or likely even to be in this state very long but Mason had seen too much decay of the ones he loved and it became an effort and painful for them to move.

He set the overbed tray over her and replaced her breakfast on it then sat by her legs.

When she was done eating he scratched the back of his neck, dreading the moment Andy buried through the bag to find out where he had been in her closet and drawers. He brought the bag on his lap almost like signing his own death warrant. "I thought it was better to get fresh...everything." He handed it to her. "I tried to get clothes that weren't too clingy but they all looked the same to me. I can get some staff to help you get changed or find Trinity?" Whoever or whatever she was most comfortable with. As long as she didn't use her powers.

Image "At least if you see her you'll know you tried. You're at least giving her the common courtesy." As Duke reached out towards him, Ajax met him halfway to shake his hand back in return.

He felt, no he knew, that he would be the last person on earth that Andy would want to see at this point, but like Duke told him, at least he'd know he tried. If only it were as simple as that, though. Countless times he could have redeemed himself, corrected the wrongs with rights, and saved all the campers last year. He hadn't been there for Andy, he didn't stop the fight before it happened, and now she was sitting in the infirmary.

Alex was out of control, he knew it, but he didn't like to admit it to anyone... especially not to himself. He truly believed that everything would get better after the trial and that Alex would start feeling like her old self, but he was wrong. Again.

He began to chew on the loose skin that lay on his bottom lip while he made his way to the infirmary. He had no idea how Andy was going to react to him even being there. Maybe a slap to the face was what he deserved. He could stand beside her so she could watch as her friends came to visit her, slapping him on their way over to her.

His thick black boots carried him right up to the door almost. He froze. Right there in front of him as he could see the silhouettes of the healers inside the military-type tent as they moved around to check on Andy. He could imagine her swatting them away as she didn't like them fussing too much, which just made him smile behind that thick mustache of his. That smile soon faded, though, when he saw another silhouette sitting down with her. The voice confirming who it was. "I can't get the closet out of my mind either." Ajax's gaze fell to the ground as he sighed.

Mason was the better option that didn't constantly let her down, always took her side, and cared for her more than he cared about himself.

Before anything else could be heard, Ajax walked away.

He set his new path in the direction of the hall where Daniel and Iliana were talking. Without engaging with them like he was in his own world, Ajax grabbed some food and took a seat at the back of the hall with his back to them both. He'd finish, then head back to the cabin to pack since there was nothing left for him here. Not right now.

Peace wasn't for long in this place. "Hey Ajax.... you doing okay?" As nice as they were, his father's temper stirred in him. Not because this nice person was checking in on him, but because of earlier. The words that tumbled out of Mason's mouth, the returned affection that Andy now felt for the snake. His grip tightened around the fork he was holding in his right hand, the metal of the handle digging into the palm of his hand without realizing.

Image His mind pictured Mason and Andy kissing, and before he knew it, before he could even stop himself, the food bowl was launched up against the wall opposite him.

The food ran down the wall as the bowl clattered against the concrete and the marbled floor. The camper quickly stepped back in shock, shielding themselves as they instantly thought the son of Zeus was going to attack them.

Instead, Ajax stormed out of the hall, leaving the half startled and frightened camper to watch the back of him.

Image Standing in the bathroom in front of the mirror, toothbrush in hand, she thought about the night before. The pair had spent over an hour talking, or at least Alex did. Duke just listened. "It's okay if you don't want to stay... I'll understand if you even end up hating me like everyone else."

Duke had shaken his head, and with a weak smile, he squeezed her hand and said, "I'm staying." even though she knew he wasn't the type of person to allow others opinions to affect his own, she didn't expect him to stay. After all, she had promised him that she'd be herself again, but that promise had been broken the second she laid her hands on Andy.

With the thought of the days ahead, Alex closed her eyes for a second, took a deep breath, and let all her anxiety float away with the exhale of air before brushing her teeth.

It wasn't too long before she was ready, fully dressed, and heading down the stairs. The lounge was empty as Duke wasn't on the couch anymore, but his pillow and quilt were there, stacked neatly into a pile. He hadn't had time to get back to his own cabin yet by the looks of things, and given what time it was in the morning, the camp would be breathing life.

She slipped on her shoes that lay on the carpet by the door and headed out. She'd just missed her brother when she made her way over to Wes.

Image "Hey... I... can I talk to you for a moment? I need some advice and... well, that's not the only reason I want to talk to you. Please." she said, her brows furrowing as she gently pleaded to be heard. She looked passed him for a quick moment, her eyes landing on Trinity and that hulk brother of hers before she looked back at Wes. Once he gave her some indication that it was alright for her to talk, Alex got started. "A part of you probably hates me right now, and I don't blame you, but... I just want to say that I and Ajax are leaving soon and I couldn't leave without saying goodbye to you. I'm going to miss you, cupid."

hopefully, that sudden nickname for him didn't sound cliche or lame. "I hope, one day, you'll forgive me." she smiled a little. "I also feel like I should apologize to Andy, but... I don't think it will make any difference with how much she hates me." Alex also didn't blame Andy for that, or Trinity. Even Alex hated herself.

Heath and Ethan were still jogging as the path they took went into a wooded area.

"You'd think a place as nice as this wouldn't have such drama," Ethan commented.

"It just goes to show just how much looks can be deceiving. I hope there will come a day here that things aren't so tense."

"Still I am glad we came. I love your place, Heath, but I was getting tired of being cooped up in your place."

Ethan knew he could be completely honest with Heath. He was an extrovert, he could never stay inside for too long. Heath grinned at his friend, grateful for his assistance. He had started seeing the anxiety of staying inside, trying to help his sister, was starting to take its toll. It was a good thing their mothers told them to go to the camp when they did because he could tell that Ethan had been slowly going nuts.

As the two continued to jog, they soon started hearing voices. Finally, they came upon the source of those voices. It was Cherise and Rae. Ethan couldn't help but suppress a groan. While both girls were nice, they did freak him out last night when they dragged him on the dance floor. Heath saw his friend's face, but seeing how the two ladies already noticed them, he was the first to greet them.

"Morning ladies. Getting some archery in? We were just getting some jogging in before getting some breakfast."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I like this girl. She's beautiful and sweet and...owns a crossbow or two but, she's nice. Except when I met her I was different, and I'm not sure entirely how to explain that to her without her thinking I'm a liar or she's the butt of the joke."
This caused Iliana to think. She had only seen him with 2 girls so far, one was a redhead, and the other was Cherise. And when she first met Daniel, he had been someone else and had been with Cherise during the trial. So maybe it was her? Plus Cherise was the daughter of Apollo, whom she knew was into Archery.
~You're talking about Cherise right? I remember you two were in the closet together. Maybe if you start at the beginning on how you became a different person to begin with, that might help? And it looks like your sister, Trinity, and Wesley know what happened to you, so maybe one of them could help? My brother has told me that having those who can back up your statements can be an asset.~
Iliana might not be as smart as her brother, but she was still an observant person. And Daniel was definitely troubled by the idea of Cherise not liking him. Cherise had been in a much better mood after leaving the closet, so she was hopeful things would be fine between the two of them.
Soon those Daniel asked her a pretty personal question. Instead of answering, Iliana avoided it and got her breakfast before returning. His sudden question left her without thought and she tried coming up with an answer. Her attention was diverted when she saw Mason come in quickly before leaving. She was tempted to ask him how Andy was was, but with him in a hurry to leave, she felt it best to let him be.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Nelly watched as the young woman composed herself and greeted her. She giggled when the woman's stomach growled.

"So how long have you been at this camp? I know I'm a few days late, so I hope I haven't missed anything big."

"I just got here myself the other day, so I was late too. And you've missed a few big things. I've missed some big things here, and not just the past few days. Seems a lot of stuff happened last summer because some campers were here last year and what happened then is affecting events now. So what do you want first? The good, the bad, or the ugly? I can only tell you what I know, which isn't a whole lot unfortunately. Oh before I forget, what's your name and who is your divine parent? Mine is Hermes."

The girl then asked where the food was and Nelly was glad she knew where it was from here. Suddenly Mason showed up and told them where to go. Always wanting to have the last word, Nelly called after him.

"I know where it is, but thank you DADDY!" she yelled with a laugh.

Looking at the new girl, she said, "That's Mason, he seems to think I need a babysister. You best keep an eye on him, he's definitely part of the drama here. Still I don't know what to make of him."

Leading the other demigoddess to the main hall, she saw that Iliana was there with the guy who was with Cherise in the closet. Waving at them both, she led the new girl to the food.

Iliana waved to Nelly as she came in with another new face. She finally came up with an answer for Daniel when suddenly Ajax came in and sat by himself. His angry energy was easy to read and Iliana trembled in fear, trying her best to ignore it, but his angry energy seeped into her pours, making her nauseous. Suddenly a crash was heard and it startled both Iliana and Nelly as they watched Ajax leave the main hall. Iliana didn't want to admit it, but she was relieved when Ajax left because she was about to get sick. Taking deep breaths, she tried calming herself down. This had to stop. There had to be something she could do to help Ajax and Alex. What is was, she didn't know yet. Maybe walking around would help her? Decision made, she turned back to Daniel to finally answer his question and wrote in her notebook.

~Sorry, I wouldn't know who to kiss, I haven't even met everyone yet. Besides, it seems like all the boys I've met here so far are interested in someone and I would never want to step onto any toes. It was nice talking with you, but I am going to go for now. I wish you the best of luck with Cherise.~

With a bow she was soon out the door.

Nelly saw Iliana leave and looked to the guy she had been sitting next to. Looked like he could use some company. Turning to her companion though, she said, "Hey, sorry you had to see that. Things got intense last night. That there was Ajax, and I think he's Zeus's son. Feel free to get your breakfast. I am starved myself."

With that she got her own food and sat across from Daniel.

"Hi there, I don't think we've formally met yet. My name is Penelope Givens, but I prefer Nelly. My dad is Hermes. I saw you were enjoying yourself last night." she said with a grin.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Iliana was nervous and took slow steps, but then relief filled her when she saw other campers, one of them being Alex. Next to her was Wesley. Trinity was with the other huge demigod and Sylas's sister. Deciding to talk to Alex, the blonde walked toward her and Wes and saw instantly felt her emotions. Guilt, so much guilt. Holding back her own emotions, Iliana quickly addressed both her and Wesley. Going on instinct, she wrote something done.
~Morning. Sorry to interrupt you, but I wanted to talk to you Alex. I don't know if you remember me, we only met briefly before the trial. My name is Iliana and I just wanted you to know that I have problems controlling my powers when my emotions are all over the place. I hope you don't mind me asking this, but do you remember what you were doing before you lost control of yourself? My mother use to tell me that if I knew the cause of what sets me off, I could try to find a way to prevent it from happening.~
Internally, she wasn't sure if this was a true solution. She knew intense emotions set her off, but she still struggled to control her own reactions to them.
Wes was happy to linger in the distance as the training commenced. He knew full well this was not his area of expertise but Trinity seemed to want him there. And honestly, Liam looked like he could use the presence of another male to balance the odds out a bit. He couldn't help but quirk a brow when said male seemed to make his way back towards Wes. At first he thought Liam just wished to stand back and watch the proceedings. But when the large man leaned in toward him, his words had a different tale.
"What does it mean when you hit on a woman and the woman you are with is upset by it, but she is still saying that I should do my thing? On a scale of 1-10 - if I stared at another woman's boobs and told her that I would do bad things to her in front of said other woman, how much trouble am I actually in? And should I stay away from other women for the rest of my life?"
Now this was something he did know well, whether or not he liked it. Wes noticed Liam's lingering gazes toward Sloane. A curious predicament. He never would have imagined the two of them together. But opposites attract and for some reason the small awkward brunette vexed him.
Wes tried to keep up the ruse, keeping his face as plain as he could while turning his attention more toward Liam. "Ok, first of all," he started, extending his bionic arm in a cautionary manner. "Whenever a woman says to do what you want, that never means do what you want." Wes chuckled softly. "It means you can do what you want, but if you don't want to piss her off... Do what she wants. Most of the time, the woman is right and we're dumb. Then there's the off chance we're right and that... well that's something else. I haven't even figured out that territory yet." Given his recent circumstances with Trinity he was by no means an expert in trying to convince a woman she was wrong. Sure, they figured it out in the end. But it was a rocky road.
"As for the second part..." Wes sighed. His brows furrowed in sympathy and confusion. "Dude, never ever check out a girl or hit on a girl if you're in the presence of another girl, unless you've explicitly said you are only platonic friends. If you're just wanting a piece of ass, then I suppose you can do as you please. But what you'll need to ask yourself is how do you feel about this girl? And what do you want with her? Because if it's more than just sex... If you really want her, then yes, you'll need to stop looking at other women."
Wes's gaze fell to the ground as he slid his hands into his short pockets with a sigh. "If she's really someone special, she'll consume your thoughts." He slowly looked up, finding his blonde several feet away attempting to train Sloane. "And you won't notice other women."
It wasn't long into the training that Alex seemed to appear from the edge of the woods. Wes inhaled sharply, looking between Alex and Trinity. Not good. "Sorry, you'll have to excuse me," he said to Liam before heading over toward his friend, hoping that Trin was too preoccupied to notice her arrival.
"Hey... I... can I talk to you for a moment? I need some advice and... well, that's not the only reason I want to talk to you. Please." Wes nodded his head but said nothing. He gently took a hold of her arm and lead her further away from the training. Once they were out of ear shot, he released his hold on her. "A part of you probably hates me right now, and I don't blame you, but... I just want to say that I and Ajax are leaving soon and I couldn't leave without saying goodbye to you. I'm going to miss you, cupid."
He didn't like it. His stance probably said that. It seemed as the words left her mouth, Wes crossed his arms over his chest. He sighed. "If that's what you think is best. I know camp has been... difficult for you recently." He didn't know how else to say it, but it was true. Ever since Jennova, it's only gone from bad to worse. "I'll miss you too," his tone was softer as he gently patted her shoulder. "I hope it helps."
"I hope, one day, you'll forgive me." Wes nodded and gave his best smile. In time, he would. But even though Andy wasn't his closest friend, watching his best friend do that to someone left him a bit shook. "I also feel like I should apologize to Andy, but... I don't think it will make any difference with how much she hates me."
Wes inhaled sharply between his teeth. That was a true statement. Neither of the girls were particularly fond of the other, and for good reason on either part. But he wasn't going to voice that. "I don't know Andy well enough to know how that would go over. For that you'd have to ask my girlfriend," he said, nodding his head towards Trinity. It was the moment the word left his mouth that he realized what he actually said. Gods, would she kill him for labelling them like that? He tried not to think about it even though his heart began to race in his chest. "Or Daniel." He quickly continued the conversation. He would have said Mason. To be honest, it seemed the son of Hades knew Andy better than most but he knew that just saying his name would erase any chance at peace.
Before they could talk anymore Iliana snuck up on the pair of them. "Morning. Sorry to interrupt you, but I wanted to talk to you Alex."
He didn't say anything. Wes simply nodded his head while giving both girls a gentle touch to the shoulder. He excused himself and slowly made his way back to the group. When there was a temporary lull in training he passed behind Trin, placing a quick and brief kiss on her head. But he didn't linger there. He simply smiled toward her before making his way back to the log and taking a seat beside Liam.
“I would inquire what benefit you think we can gain from one another by me staying. Then worry perhaps you were getting attached or trying to distort my emotions,” Evelyn said after she let herself be drawn closer to him.
"You speak as though I have an ulterior motive." Sylas's gaze remain fixed on hers while his voice was deep playing into their little game of cat and mouse. He did quite enjoy the chase with her.
He didn't need her words to know that there, in that moment, Evelyn was his. Her words might have said one thing but her body moved with his every touch like it was hungry for more. And while manipulating the hypnotizing red head might have been tempting, he secretly found himself magnetized to her as she was to him. Maybe it was the mystery or her way to see through the veil, if only a little. She was a woman who wasn't scared by the potential beast within, but intrigued by it. That only made him more ravenous.
“I know,” she commented in regards to the question she still had in her arsenal. “But this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, I have to make it count.”
Sylas smirked slightly watching her nibble at her lip as he could see the wheels turning in thought. Part of him wanted to make another sly comment. Who's to say he hasn't been honest with her thus far? Maybe she thought everything that left his lips was a lie. Or maybe she just wanted this one particular question to count. He couldn't help but find his pulse quicken the longer it took her to think of what she wanted to ask. What could she want to know? And what would she think of his response? This was new territory for him... honesty.
“What's the most valuable lesson you've learned in life so far?” Sylas was surprised at the question, almost expecting something far more personal. He sat there in the silence, mulling over the answers in his head while Evelyn's hands gently ran along his shoulders and down his arms. The tip of his tongue grazed his lips when her gaze fell to them. But just before they could kiss, she guided his head sideways and placed her lips softly upon his neck. All the while, she moved her body ever closer to him until her knees rested on the bed as she straddled him. Once she was settled, he let his hands move to her backside, tugging her closer with a quiet groan.
"I've learned..." Sylas spoke quietly, tilting his head with her tender kisses. He let himself conform to her touch, as his voice grew quiet and serious, a small fraction was perhaps even vulnerable. "That I'm alone in this world." He didn't elaborate. Because it was that plain and simple. He let his gaze fall to hers for a long moment and his face showed the seriousness that was apparent in his tone.
“I should get one more request because you've been...somewhat distracting and in a way, I did two favors for you.” Evelyn's words caused him to chuckle and his smirk regaining it's place upon his lips. “It can be an easy one like a confession of your choice. You couldn't be afraid to overshare with all that power lurking in your veins.”
"She's had a taste and wants more," Sylas said as his smirk grew slightly. If anyone else was there, his comment would seem surface level and merely about sex. But she knew his meaning. Evelyn enjoyed having the power to pull secrets from him, something that seemed unobtainable to most. And she wanted more. "If that is the case, then it's only fair if you confess something yourself."
After a long moment, Evelyn sighed and wiggled her hips, presumably to get comfortable, although it still caused Sylas to raise a curious brow. “Part of me is tempted to test your endurance and stamina.” Her gaze trailed his bare chest while her fingers following suit. “But I'd hate to wear you out. Things to do, people to see, I'm sure.”
"You'd be surprised what I can handle." He remained sitting on the bed as Evelyn retreated. Sylas could have pulled her back and whispered velvet words to persuade her to stay. But instead he watched her exit his room, no shame in taking in her form as she walked.
He waited there, seated on the edge of the bed as he heard her move about his cabin. Sylas ran a hand through his hair as he took a deep breath. His gaze drifted towards the heaps of blankets strewn about the bed and along the floor, his mind letting the events that just transpired sink in. Part of him, wanted to let her leave. Let their moment in bed remain that and nothing more, but something else was drawn to her. Something he couldn't quite explain. She was different than other women. Evelyn challenged him. Her tongue silvered like his own and it was intoxicating.
He hadn't heard the front door, so she still lingered somewhere. Before Sylas could play out the possibilities or think of a plan of attack, he was on his feet, moving toward the door. For a moment he wondered, until he found her standing at his kitchen sink. He didn't announce himself. Quiet footsteps carried him across the room until his bare chest brushed against her back. His fingertips slowly found their way to Evelyn's hips as the tip of his nose brushed along the nape of her neck. "You want a confession?" he purred in her ear.
His voice was deep and graveled in the back of his throat. It was primal, not dripping with honey, but seductive and intense. Sylas's right hand ran up her arm and along her shoulder until it cupped the side of her neck. "I'm dangerous. And you should stay far from me." That was a confession no other would hear. A confession that is a brief glimpse into his true nature and his acceptance of it. Sylas was a dangerous person and he knew it. What they shared couldn't be described. Was it simply a game of discovery? Lust? Something more? They didn't talk about it. But everyday they grew closer. And as much as her curiosity and tests thrilled him, it only drew her closer to a black void.
He did not move, nor release his hold on her. Sylas stood there for a long moment, before he gently turned her around. He kept her there, pinned between himself and the counter, looking down into her eyes. "When I'm around you, I lose reason... Your presence is intoxicating."
“Well, that's something. How'd you feel afterwards?” Trinity said almost like there was some light at the end of Sloane's hopeless tunnel.
She found herself standing there silent with her mouth slightly agape as she searched for a response. "I don't remember... I just know that they deserved it."
“I was actually going to suggest you hit me... Or any other person or object. I just think you must be furious about being in your circumstances.”
Sloane's brows furrowed as she tried to put a finger on how she felt. Anger would be reasonable. That is to be expected. But she had grown used to how Sylas treated her. It was sad, but the truth of it. She knew what the pain felt like, his temper and his reactions. She no longer tiptoed around him to try and not set him off, because if it wasn't one thing it was another. She accepted it.
...Until someone intervened. That's when the fear returned. Before, she could talk back to him and accept her punishment with her head held high. But now, it was bigger than herself. When Sloane was his punching bag. It was contained. She could handle the pain because it was hers to bare. It was under control. And now, Liam was part of it... perhaps even Trinity, Wes and Andy simply because they knew the truth. Whatever courage Sloane once had was gone because whatever misstep she took would no longer be inflicted upon herself... but him. She no longer had control.
But she said none of this, although her face, no doubt, showed how deep in thought she was. "It's fear... Not anger," Sloane admitted, as her gaze fell to her hands. That wasn't something easy for her to admit. No one likes to admit when they are frightened. But this girl she barely knew was trying to help. Liam was trying to help. If she wanted to protect them from her brother, she had to let them help her. And secrecy wasn't the answer.
"My thought was that we teach her how to defend herself." Liam put up his hands in surrender before he continued. “All she has to do is get her hand on someone, right? We just have to train her to utilize quick defensive movements - brushing a hand away, whatever it may be - to allow her to use her own power to do the fighting for her. I mean, think about it.”
While, from a tactical point of view, what Liam said made sense. But Sloane didn't like using her abilities. Sylas did but she didn't. And on top of that, she had only been able to use her abilities on her brother once... once. Not that they knew that. But the moment she did, he knew. It was like an inner alarm went off letting him know that she was there, trying to slip her tendrils around him. And it was hard... Perhaps the most difficult thing she ever did.
"We're on a different playing field. Even in the normal world, people train for years to learn how to fight. We are not going to train Sloane in a day or even a week. She's small, so right there she's disadvantaged against at least more than half of the camp. But she knows her powers, so she just needs to learn how to use them to do the fighting for her. But her power is control over another person. It's no small power. It has... endless uses in a fight. You probably know the folks around here better than me. I think I dropped out of school before I learned anything about mythology. You're more experienced in this area..."
“Liam..” Trinity began to speak, but was cut off.
"She just needs to stop being afraid to do what she has to do. She has no confidence." A lump instantly grew in Sloane's throat as her gaze fell to the ground. She shifted her weight from one foot to the other as she tried not to show her discomfort. It was the truth, she could not deny that. But it still hurt. The words cut deep and it took all she had not to just walk away. "You can teach someone to fight... but that won't mean anything if... you know..." What made it all worse was he spoke to Trinity... Like she wasn't even there. So, rather than be offended, she acted exactly like he did... Like she wasn't even there.
“Right,” Trinity replied briefly.
Sloane didn't move from where she stood, nor look up at Liam as he stepped up to her and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Just tell yourself that today is the day you're not going to take any more shit. You got this."
She listened to his words but once he finished, Sloane shrugged his hand off her shoulder. "I know," was all she said in response, walking away from him and heading out into the clearing.
After Liam left them to take a seat on the log, Trinity joined her. “Size doesn't matter,” she added lowly, concluding the previous discussion. It wasn't much, but it was enough to make Sloane smile and remove a little of the chip on her shoulder that Liam, so kindly, put there.
“I guess I'll be guinea pig then.” Trinity clapped and moved in front of her. “Some of us have reflexive powers, but I need to know you're in control of yours.”
"I can control them," Sloane said in a factual way. This she knew for certain. She learned to do this years ago with her mother's aid and used this to refrain from using her powers all together. But she understood Trinity's concern and would not question it.
Then, quickly without warning, Trinity's hand reached out and grabbed her shoulder. Sloane was practically trained not to fight back or flinch whenever Sylas lashed out. So, contrary to what most might think, she didn't flinch nor blink. Her brow's furrowed as her gaze fell to Trinity's hand. It took a second or two before she realized what the blonde was trying to do. "I've uh... gotten used to it. Sorry... You want me to dodge or... something?" she asked rhetorically and then smacked the hand away.
It seemed the moment she pushed Trinity's hand away another came back faster. Sloane faltered a lot in the beginning, her reactions were delayed or she barely used any effort to push the girl away, not wishing to hurt her or be too forceful. But it seemed like the more she did that, the harder and faster Trinity went. It pushed her. Until it was almost subconscious to shove the hand away, not particularly worrying about how hard she went. Her form was not good and it would, by no means, block a real hit. But she wasn't standing still like a punching bag waiting for her punishment.
“Perfect.” The pace got faster. Trinity no longer withheld her hits. There were going to be bruises in the morning, Sloane was sure of that. But she tried to match the pace. Sometimes she missed, but sometimes she actually deflected. Then things shifted and before she knew it, Trinity's leg was behind her, knocking her off balance. Sloane stumbled backwards, but not for long before the blonde was behind her with an arm around her neck. She was standing on her tip toes, barely, without a clue how to get out of the hold. Part of her didn't want to hurt her, but this was all a test.
Sloane contemplated kicking Trinity in the knee or biting her arm, but before she could do either, she spoke to her lowly so that only she could hear. “Do you trust him?”
She hesitated for a moment, trying to figure out who Trinity meant. But then her gaze fell on Liam. Sloane swallowed before answering. "Yes..." She said quietly. His bedside manner needed some work... a lot of work. But even though she hadn't known him for long, he meant well. If he didn't, he wouldn't have gone to Trinity for help. And maybe that womanizing part of him was doing it hoping it would get him laid, but he was still helping her. Although something in her gut told her, that that wasn't it. Maybe part of it was her projecting her own emotions on him. But she didn't have time to think about that, not at that moment.
She shook off the thoughts after Trinity released her from the hold. Sloane sighed softly as she brushed loose hairs behind her ears. “Liam, your turn.”
"Wait, what?" Sloane quickly pivoted, looking towards a retreating Trinity. That was barely enough practice for her to be ready to go against... well, anyone, let alone a man over twice her size who could break her with a sneeze. She didn't argue. But she didn't like it. Instead she remained where she stood, twiddling her fingers, trying not to look nervous.
Mason seemed to have zero problems with going to get her food and clothes, which only made Andy feel worse. Knowing him, he blamed himself. She was in the closet with him and he was the one who had bad blood with Alex... worse than her own anyway. But there was nothing she could do to stop him. A strange foreign feeling she didn't enjoy. Useless.
"I'll be quick. What do you want?"
Andy hated being the person who abused a gift and at that point, she could eat anything. "Just something... bread. Toast, bagel, whatever. And a piece of fruit." To be honest, she listed off the first things she could think of. Something quick that he could grab, because she didn't want to be alone in that place any longer than she had to.
By herself, she sat there in silence. Andy combed her memory of what happened the day before. Part of her ached, not from the lightning, but from before. She had no idea where all her indecisive feelings came from. They seemed to appear almost over night. When you're in love, you weren't supposed to have feelings for someone else. But there it was. She felt guilty about it. Mason was there for her, always. No matter if they were just fighting or vowed to never speak again. If she needed him he was there. He always put her first. And to Ajax she was first... After Alex.
Andy never blamed him for that. Alex was family and she was just... some girl. But it seemed like each time it happened, it hit a little deeper. She thought maybe, this would be the difference. If it wasn't murder, then his sister nearly killing her would be the one time she'd come first. But still... he wasn't there. Worst of all, she found herself staring at the entrance, hoping that Ajax would come through. That he'd prove her wrong.
Her lips clenched as she tried to sniff back the tear that ran down her cheek. Luckily, she managed to wipe it away just as Mason came walking back in with a bag and food in tow. "Hey. How'd I do?"
Andy smiled, trying not to sniffle. "It looks great. Thank you."
He set down the bag and food before coming to her side. "Come on, sit up." He offered her his arm for support, which she used but her movements were slow. So, rather than letting her suffer through it, Mason lightly wrapped his arm around her. She rested her chin on his shoulder as he lifted her in a gentle hug to help her sit up. Andy quickly blinked back the tears and took a deep breath while her face was hidden, trying to keep her emotions in check. Then by the time he pulled away she was smiling once again. "Good girl."
Afterwards, Mason even moved the tray over to her so she could eat. Andy rested her hand on top of his while he still held the tray before he could withdraw. "Thank you for being here." She had already said it before and she was probably going to say fifty more times before she got out of the infirmary. His support meant more than words could say and if the only way she could show it was by saying 'thank you' too many times, then so be it.
Before her was a bagel and an apple, which Andy was all to happy to dig into. A few bites in, she held out the other half of the bagel to him. "Here... I won't take no for an answer." She waited there with her arm outstretched until he took it, which was quite a feat considering how sore she was. But she was stubborn. Mason knew that. She also made sure that every other bite of her apple she passed it off to him. Regardless if he admitted it or not, he also needed to it. Andy wouldn't have him withering away while he nursed her back to health.
Once she was done, Mason seemed to grow nervous as he reached down and picked up the bag. "I thought it was better to get fresh...everything. I tried to get clothes that weren't too clingy but they all looked the same to me. I can get some staff to help you get changed or find Trinity?"
Andy opened the bag and sifted through what he brought. When she came upon undergarments, her cheeks instantly flushed. She swallowed and took a deep breath before looking up at him and smiling. "It's perfect. I'll be ok. I need to try doing it on my own." She was determined not to be entirely useless. Even if she spent all her energy just changing. But this was something she had to. At least, try on her own.
She pulled out the baggiest clothes she could find and laid them on the bed beside her. Andy slowly and carefully draped her legs over the edge of the bed one at a time. She felt like she was moving slow as the grave, but she was doing it. Once there, she paused for a moment to take a breath then grabbed the sweatpants. Luckily, a hospital gown made it easy for her to pull them on to her thighs. She then, cautiously stepped off the bed. For a moment she lost her balance, grabbing Mason's arm for stability.
She stood there for a moment or two until the room stopped spinning. "It's ok. I got it," she quickly reassured him before she let go. It took a little work and wiggle but she managed to get the pants on. Andy turned her back to Mason before she tried to reach behind her back and untie the gown. Her hand could barely reach up to her hip before she got a sharp pain in her ribs. She took a deep breath and tried again with her other arm to no avail. "Dammit," she cursed under her breath. For a long moment, she stood there with her face in the palm of her hand trying not to have a melt down about not being able to take off a damn gown.
Her face quickly grew red. She knew what she had to ask but was too embarrassed to speak up. It took her a couple minutes to finally open her mouth and speak. "Can you untie this... please?" she asked quietly, unable to look back at him.
Kohana froze a little as what Nelly said actually dawned on her. Hermes? She looked wide-eyed at Nelly as she responded to a passing camper. This has to be the person Hermes was referring to! She can probably do everything I can! As she was about to share her parentage, Kohana hesitated. If they shared a father, then this meant that they were sisters; they were technically family. She started to feel a knot form in her stomach, wondering how much Nelly knew of Hermes's past. Recalling how long it took for her to find out that she had divine parentage, she wondered if Hermes even bothered to alert Nelly. As the woman turned back to her and explained the other camper, Koa zoned back in. Not wanting to be rude and to buy herself some time, she replied, "A babysitter huh? I'll be sure to watch out. It's my first day and that'd be a bit soon for drama. My name is Kohana by the way. Friends can call me Koa."
She walked behind Nelly as they made their way to the food. Her stomach growled as she gazed at the spread laid out. Oh I'm going to love it here. A sudden crashing sound jerked Koa out her trance and back to reality. She watched the guy storm out the hall. "He aha lā…(The hell…)" She shook her head as she wondered how upset they'd have to be in order to waste good food like that. "Hey, sorry you had to see that. Things got intense last night. That there was Ajax, and I think he's Zeus's son. Feel free to get your breakfast. I am starved myself." Koa smiled and replied, "It's fine. A shame he wasted good food though." Kohana grabbed a plate after Nelly helped herself. She grabbed some oatmeal topped with sliced banana and nuts, a bowl of fruits with some yogurt and granola, water, and a couple small protein shakes. With her plate full and a handful of drinks, Koa turned. She looked around, searching for her new friend (and relative). Once she spotted Nelly, she walked over. Placing her things down, she smiled at the camper across from them.
"Hi there, I don't think we've formally met yet. My name is Penelope Givens, but I prefer Nelly.""And I'm Kohana." Koa started to eat as Nelly continued her conversation with the other camper, biding her time until she could speak with her about their shared parent.
Daniel Vadas
Hecate | HEX: #8b9068 | Outfit
Image He wasn't above whining and he could have whined when Iliana didn't play the game properly. Daniel wanted to push it, to emphasise, "somebody has a gun to your head and tells you to kiss one person" but she dismissed herself. And all within reason too after Ajax's scene. Through all that though, she left him with one powerful thought I wish you the best of luck with Cherise.
He smiled and gave a little wave goodbye. After only seconds, Daniel rested his chin in his palms, hitting his cheeks gently. Cherise, Cherise, Cherise. That beautiful little slice of heaven. Daniel smiled imagining himself trying to use one of those corny lines on her and the banter that would start from it.
Somebody shifted and Daniel brought himself back to reality to sight a redhead sitting across from him and another girl. "Hi there, I don't think we've formally met yet. My name is Penelope Givens, but I prefer Nelly."
"And I'm Kohana."
"Kohana," he repeated. "Is that an islander name? It's way too mystical to come from New York." It just sounded like a name where culture was still alive.
"My dad is Hermes. I saw you were enjoying yourself last night."
His eyes bounced between them as they talked and he beamed. He liked the company already since grinning and initiating non-dramatic conversation was rare. "Of course, that's what a party's for. I'm Daniel. I'm one of Hecate's kids." He stood up and reached over the table to shake each girls' hand. Providing they weren't too consumed in their food which he would forgive. "Are you two twins?" He grinned at the joke.
"How'd you find the night anyway, Nelly?" Part of Daniel wanted to say parties weren't always like last night but that’d be a lie. They always ended with a boom. Literally something had to be broken or the skies crack open with thunder and lightning.
"So being one of Hermes kids have you ever been to prison?" He laughed then returned to a slightly more serious get to know questions. Slightly. "What do you do with all that speed on your side? I would love to be swift and deft in everything I do, you could get away with a lot. Illusions and conjurations are so easy to point the finger at." Especially considering Andy was a lot more sensible with her powers and...as a person in general. Then again, he wasn't one to shy away from the dreaded pointed finger and blame. The initial reactions to his pranks and training scenarios were worth it. Honestly it was plain good to be him some days.
He looked around the hall. People must have been off doing their own thing or he was that distracted staring at his breakfast he missed people coming in and out before Ajax. "Would you like to be training buddies today? Or if you've got friends, you know, invite them along, we'll make our own group." Out of the blue as it seemed it was still totally valid to the girls sitting across from him. Daniel may have had one or two things to do before the power parade started, but it was no less legitimate.
Wes wasn't sitting alone for long before Trinity passed Sloane off to Liam and decided to sit beside him. "Isn’t this nice? Demigods training to fight and defend themselves with powers."
He let out a soft sigh, with an eye roll, even though he still had a smile on his face. "You know, you're not subtle."
Trinity didn't seem to be letting the conversation end there. She turned around and took ahold of his hand, gripping it tightly. "Lie to me at least and tell me you’ll use your abilities on threats."
He knew she was just worried about his well being in the face of imminent danger. The last time they were in a battle for their lives he lost an arm, and he could tell she was worried he'd lose more... like his life. "I used them during capture the flag on that hellhound didn't I?" It wasn't the answer she was looking for, but it was something. He recalled using his abilities during the last battle as well. Although not much. Trin wanted him to be a warrior... but he just wasn't.
"Since we’re here how about you teach me something. Anything," she said with a smile.
Wes sighed, running his fingers through his hair. Being put on the spot and told to teach someone something is like being asked to tell someone about yourself. Where the hell do you start? It usually just leaves the person blank with no idea what to say. And that's where he was. "Hell, I have no idea. I could teach you how to introduce yourself in French. But it's nothing spectacular or helpful."
"You could probably teach Sloane a thing or two. Liam reckons she needs confidence and I feel like you'd be good at drawing that out of her." Jesus she was determined that day. It wasn't a new conversation. Hell, Trin has been trying to convince Wes to use his powers for over a year now. He admired her determination, but he didn't like messing with people's free will. He wasn't gifted with the ability to manipulate water or fire... but people. And that didn't sit right with him.
"Liam doesn't know the first thing about reading people." Wes laughed weakly. "I don't think her confidence is the problem... She's scared. I can feel it when I'm around her." He shrugged his shoulders slightly.
For a long moment, Trinity's gaze shifted to the training. Wes on the other hand was trying not the pay attention to it, but as he heard the harsh words Liam said toward Sloane, he winced. There was nothing more frustrating then people trying to force you to fight back. He knew that struggle all to well. The blonde beside him often trying to insight that in him. But Liam was making it personal. He supposedly cared for this girl, from what Wes could tell, yet the way he spoke to her. The idiot might have gone three steps forward defending Sloane from her brother, but talking to a women you care about like that would send him four steps back. It wasn't a pretty sight.
Trinity took their joined hands and brought them into her lap. But it was when she cleared her throat that he looked over at her. "You know your other friend suggested I help her with her own emotions? Umm, Iliana. I think you should start offering your service as a counsellor or trainer so people know you're the productive one."
"I don't know if I'm the one people should look to for guidance when it comes to controlling their emotions. Sure, I can tell people how to talk to a girl... or not too, in Liam's case. But, I don't have control over my emotions. Maybe hide them better than some on occasion. But... I don't know if it's possible to control emotions. Powers aside. We feel what we feel. Good or bad."
But the topic didn't keep their attention for long. They were both looking back to the training in front of them. It was uncomfortable. "What do you think of this? Who are you taking if things go south?"
Wes sighed. "I think your brother doesn't have a clue how to talk to women." Wes laughed slightly, but it was a serious conversation. If this went south quickly, they'd both have to be ready to act. "Liam, probably. He's stronger than me, but if I could get a hand on him I could calm him down."
Sylas watched as Evelyn struggled between him and the counter. Not to break free, but it was like she was trying with everything in her power not to look at him. "I'm uninhibited around you. It's thrilling and I feel insatiable and vigorous." He liked the sound of that. It nearly made him smirk, before he caught himself. There was a 'but' coming. There always was. "You’re forbidden desires wrapped in one package. I should stay away....I should."
Her words said she should. Yet, her hand found its way to the back of his neck, playing with his hair. Evelyn shifted up to her tiptoes, bringing her closer while she pulled him down toward her slightly. But then she froze. "You should," he said quietly in agreement as his hands fell from her sides.
Evelyn's hands still rested on his chest, but not in an affectionate way, instead requiring space. Sylas didn't argue and took a step back. "Let me summarise this. You so charmingly implied you may want me to stay, but you admit you are dangerous, and I should do the exact opposite. You can see how that's rather cruel of you."
"Yes. It is," he agreed as he looked down at her. She was not wrong and in this brief moment of truth, he would not argue it.
"You are wickedly tempting. But you already know that don’t you?" And then she smirked, raising a brow.
Sylas couldn't help but chuckle softly. "I've heard rumor."
"Now, unless you plan on keeping us cooped up all day, I’m going to go fulfill other basic needs. And you should put on some clothes before there’s a chance of burning more daylight."
He would have been happy spending the entire day in bed, but he wouldn't argue. Sylas stepped aside and let her pass, although he smirked, just slightly, at her hand that lingered upon his stomach. He watched her head toward the door, but didn't follow.
Evelyn stopped just before she exited and looked back to him. "Thank you again for...everything."
Sylas nodded his head as he lightly crossed his arms over his chest. "Any time." And he meant it.
Once she opened the door, Evelyn said her fair wells and closed the door behind her, leaving Sylas standing half naked, staring at the exit. He waited there for a moment or two longer, in case she changed her mind and came back in. But when he realized she wasn't returning, he sighed and finally decided to move. He made his way back to his bedroom where he let his gaze linger on the disheveled bed for a moment, before he stripped out of his clothing and wondered into the shower.
Sloane stood there, like a spectacle, waiting as Liam slowly made his way over to her. She didn't like being the center of attention. And with him standing before her like an oppressive giant, she found herself feeling smaller than she has before. He didn't say anything. So, she neither did she.
Then it seemed like everything got quieter. Liam began to breathe heavily as the air around him grew heavy. It was like all the hairs on the back of her neck raised and a cold chill ran down her back. But Sloane's gaze couldn't leave Liam. She just stood there in silence and watched him change before her. He was panting, his chest raising and falling with labored breaths. The veins protruded from his arms and neck.
It was a strong wave that slammed into her like a tsunami. It made her want to retreat. And she thought about it until Liam spoke. "Don't run," he said almost robotically.
Sloane could feel his tendrils trying to worm their way into her mind. Maybe if her constitution was weaker. If she couldn't control emotions or manipulate others with her powers it might have effected her more. Perhaps even caused memories and visions of the past to flood into her mind. It was like something inside her was scratching at the walls, trying to get out. It was fighting to make her scared or angry, perhaps both. It was a strong sensation. Her breathing grew heavier as she tried to keep it at bay and remain calm.
"Look at yourself," he demanded of her. Liam's voice was cold and harsh. The words were sharp enough to make her double take and snap out of whatever magical hold he had on her. "Look at all the ways you've made yourself a victim. You. Not your brother, not me. You make yourself weak. No one else can do that for you. Who are you, Sloane? Is this the real you? Is this how you're going to live the rest of your life?"
It wasn't the air the spun around them that churned her stomach. It was his words. Sloane's nostrils flared as she clenched her jaw. Her gaze drifted over to a spot on the floor as she tried to remain calm. Why did it always seem that someone like Liam could do the right thing one moment, and negate it all with thoughtless words that flood out of his mouth like poison the next. It was like one moment, he wanted her there and to help. Then the next he saw her as a sheepish burden. Some damsel that needed saving and no idea what she had gotten herself into.
She had enough.
"You have no idea what you're talking about!" Her voice wasn't quiet and timid, but forceful and demanded to be heard. Sloane shoved her hands into Liam's chest, and while that normally wouldn't have made him budge, the powers in her demanded he stumble back when she pushed him. "I didn't make myself the victim. You did!" She shoved him again. Her abilities only getting more powerful, forcing him to stumble back again.
"I had everything under control before you came around and made it your problem!" She pushed him again. To those who watched it must have been strange seeing someone so small knock Liam back with every push. "I knew how he was! And rather than letting him take his sickness out on others, I let him take out his anger on me! Letting him hurt me, kept everyone else safe. But you didn't see that. You didn't ask about my side of the story."
Sloane took a step toward him and jabbed his chest with her index finger. "I wasn't scared until you came crashing into my life!" The poke wasn't intended to make him stumble back, but her powers were already coursing through her and it wasn't going to calm down anytime soon. "Because now, I don't have it under control. It isn't about me anymore. You brought yourself into this mess... Along with your sister, Wes, even Andy. Every single person you've opened your big mouth too is now in danger because you put your nose somewhere it didn't belong."
She looked like she was on the edge of tears. Not sadness, but angry tears. "I bore his anger so no one else would have to!" This time when she pushed him, all that pent up anger and the powers that tingled at her fingertips transferred over to Liam, telling him to stumble backwards until he falls upon the ground. Sloane moved to stand over him. "I am not a victim. And I'm am not weak."
After a second or two of looking down at him, Sloane stepped over Liam and walked for the edge of the woods. "Don't follow me," she said back toward him before she disappeared into the trees. She had no destination in sight, just the desire to get away. She felt like she was suffocating when she was around him, and with every step away she took it was like she could finally breathe.
This was one of those moments Sloane wished she had her own cabin. Not Sylas's and not Liam's. Somewhere she could go that was hers, where she could be alone. Instead, she continued to walk through the woods, going wherever her feet lead her. After a couple minutes of walking, the dirt beneath her shoes turned to sand and she stepped out onto the beach. When that ocean breeze hit her, she was overwhelmed with all the stirring emotions and just stumbled to her hands and knees.
She remained like that until she managed to catch her breath. Once she did, Sloane let herself shift back until she was kneeling, her weight resting back on her shins and feet. As she ran her hands back through her hair, she noticed far on the other end of the beach were two others. She was too far away to tell who they were and hopefully, that was far enough for them to leave her alone. Sloane slowly moved her feet out from under her and laid back in the warm sand.
"Sure." As Mason approached, Andy tried her best to move her hair out of the way. She stood as still as she could manage as he untied the strings of the gown. At one point his breath brushed her shoulder sending a chill down her spine. It made her nervous how close he stood. Not in a bad way, but it was different than all the other times they stood close before.
"Did...I...." Mason begin to say. She slowly looked back over her shoulder at him, being sure to hold the gown against her chest. Andy waited, patiently, to hear what he was going to ask. But he said nothing. She sighed softly as she turned back around, leaving her back to Mason. She set down the gown on an empty chair, then carefully slipped into a zip up hoodie. It was the easiest thing she could manage to put on.
"I've never seen you fight like that before," he said instead.
Andy sighed softly before she sat back down on the hospital bed, even managing to cross her legs under her Indian style. "She blames me for breaking her brother's heart. Like our relationship failed because of me, and Ajax had no part in it." She gave a small shrug. The best she could manage. "And I was tired of her blaming you... for everything, while no one ever holds her accountable for her actions." She slowly looked up to meet his gaze. "So... I did."
She rubbed her side and laughed weakly. "I'm not scared of Alex. I might not be able to control lightning, but I'm just as powerful as her, in ways that she couldn't imagine." Andy looked down at the blankets beneath her. Her fingers idly picking at the threads. "But I fight fair... And she doesn't. She shook her head with a defeated smile. "I should have broken her arm when I had the chance." Not that she would have. It might have felt good. But she was more proud of herself for being the bigger person and walking away. Even if it ended badly.
"We never really got to talk much after that whole bullsh-...the trial. After Alex's trial. What I said to you was crap. I'm sorry I said what I said and how I spoke to you. I meant the whole Jennova and looking into your memories thing but... With Hades gone, that leaves....a big role to fill. I'm not going now - especially not now but someday..."
Mason seemed to be at a loss for words, something Andy wasn't used to seeing. But she remained silent and waited for him to continue. "I know Hecate lives there too and she can manage things for a while but she doesn't deserve the duty to be thrown on her eternity. She didn't do anything wrong. I was thinking we could try make a device. Something that lets me travel freely between the Underworld and here because...I don't want to be there forever. Every second of every day and Gods are Gods. For all I know Zeus could seal me in there or Hades as some last trap sprung on me."
Her heart sank as he continued. She didn't like the thought of him leaving... again. Andy relied so heavily on Mason, probably too much. He was a rock in her life that she needed and the thought of him being out of reach saddened her. But she understood why he had to do it. Luckily, Hades wouldn't be there.
"Sorry. I know you have your own stuff to deal with. Just...wanted to come clean and wonder if that's something you'd be comfortable with doing when you've regained your strength."
"Don't apologize. I'm glad you told me. And you know I'd be happy to help you however I can." Andy's brows furrowed as she pondered the request. Instantly, a couple ideas came to mind. "We could always make some kind of beacon... A stationary object that you can travel to. Or, perhaps, items kind of like walkie talkies. They could allow travel between the two. So, the carriers could travel between the two with ease. Someone could travel to the Underworld to see you, or you could leave to go to them."
Andy didn't try to assume that Mason would want her to carry the other one. Perhaps he'd give it to Eve, or leave it somewhere hidden. But it was an option. And part of her liked the possibility of being able to travel to the Underworld to see him rather that waiting an indefinite amount of time for him to come see her.
"And for the record, I forgive you... for what you said before the trial. I..." Andy's voice trailed off as she tried to find the words. As she sat there her gaze fell to her hands. "I had no right to be jealous of Eve and lash out at you for it. It was selfish and rude."
She exhaled softly as she brushed loose hairs behind her ear. "I grew used to you being just mine. And... I don't like Eve, I don't. But, I had no right to get mad about it. Especially when you've watched me with Ajax for so long. I think... I think it made me realize how unhappy I was and I took it out on you when it isn't your fault. I haven't been fair to you." Andy inhaled sharply but couldn't look up. "If she makes you happy, then I won't make you choose between her and me."
It wasn't easy for her to say. Even as the word's left her lips, Andy's stomach churned at the thought. But she didn't have any right to be jealous over whomever Mason wanted. He wasn't hers. While the thought of it sat uneasily, in the end, she just wanted to see him happy. She couldn't recall the last time he seemed genuinely content. "I just want you to find happiness."
Everything was set. All the luggage was packed, or at least, all they needed was. He looked over the bags that lay on his bed to make sure he did indeed have everything. He jumped before quickly turning his attention to the door, and then began to run towards Alex's room.
She was fighting with her bedsheets as they tangled themselves around her legs. "hey, it's okay.. You were just dreaming. It's a dream. You want to talk about it?"
Image "no, it's fine... It was just a stupid nightmare. I'll be fine." she fixed herself and her hair before climbing off her bed, throwing the tangled sheets out of the way. "Is it time to go? How we even getting there? we can't exactly carry him. He's grown more muscle since I last saw him."
"Ares is coming apparently. I got an email from hermes." he explained, seeing the confused face she had since no god had stepped foot in camp since the trials.
"Email? I thought dad was against modern technology?"
"Doesn't mean they all are."
"Did you get to talk to Andy?" Alex asked him as she headed off into the kitchen to fix herself a bowl of cereal.
"No.... She doesn't need me anyway. She has him." the same thought of Mason being close to her made his blood boil, and it wasn't like he could walk up to him now and attack him. The entire camp would start thinking the valises were just mentally unstable.
Just as Ajax had managed to brew himself a coffee, the skies opened up, causing a loud crackle and rumble as a flash of light came rushing down towards the camp like a shooting star, its tail end like white fire.
"they always like to make a grand entrance don't they?" Alex comments as she peers out of the kitchen window. Ares chariot had landed directly in their backyard perfectly.
"Can't exspect anything less from them." he shrugged.
He wandered away from the window, finished off his coffee before placing it into the sink, and then headed outside to meet Areas who was taking off the spartan looking helmet of his.
"you ready to go?" Areas asked, his right hand stroking down the neck of one of the two horses pulling the chariot.
"Almost. Alex and I just gotta grab our things" he said, motioning his thumb back over his shoulder to the cabin behind him. "and we are just waiting for Duke. He shouldn't be too long. No doubt he saw you coming."
Image Ares smiled before he patted the horses neck. "Let me help you get your things onto the chariot then."
Ajax nodded. "I'll toss them down to you through the window."
Ares caught them with little to no effort before throwing them into the back of the chariot, placing them so there was enough room for his three companions.
