Daughter of Zeus || Hex: #d63b71

"I'm Wesley Preston... Not that that matters," Alex never liked him doing that to himself, talking like he didn't matter. He did matter, and he was just as important to the Camp as anyone else. "Alex is my best friend. She is a good and kind person, who would sooner fall on her blade for someone else rather than be the one to take a life. There is no way that she did this without being under the influence of someone else. I would stake my life on her innocence." He looked towards her, giving her a slight smile which she returned. "She's not a murderer." Alex looked to the Gods that stood in the room. She tried to see if she could make out their reactions to Wes's words, but none of them even flickered any clue of emotion. Still, Wes had done his best to voice his thoughts about her, to try and show the rest of the room that she really wasn't a monster.

Duke came second. "I'm Duke Loycen, son of Hephaestus. I've known Alex for a couple of years, enough to say I know her well. Commonly, there's signs of a killer being born or a sociopath and she displayed and even now displays none of that. She's not a murderer or a monster. I know that hurting Jennova weighs on her conscience, so I don't think it was deliberate and I don't think it was premeditated. Killing isn't in her or her instinct. Something must have pushed her, whether circumstances or a person." He sat back down, and with his eyes on her, Alex smiled. She felt proud of both, him, and Wes. Both of them had stood up before everyone and not cared about what others might think of them for taking a 'murderers' side.

It was a good start, but Andy soon leveled everything with her speech. Of course, she would take Mason's side, but had they forgotten that Hades also tried to kill Ajax before Andy placed herself in harms way instead? It should have been Hades standing trial. Not Alex, who took in a deep breath to ready herself to hear what Andy now had to say. "I was the first person at the scene... I thought it might be beneficial to recount what I witnessed. I remember it started to rain... blood. There was no visibility, like walking through a blizzard. I somehow wondered my way to Jennova's cabin where I found her... them. Alex stood on the porch to Jennova's cabin. And Jennova... She was on the ground, decapitated. I then went and got Ajax. When I returned... I buried her. Jennova was unarmed. It looked like a murder... in cold blood." Alex remembered it now her memories were back in full swing, which is the reason why she lost most of her sanity. All of the memories hitting her like a sledgehammer to the gut with no intervals to catch her breath. Still, even if the memories had formed slowly over time, it still wouldn't have made a difference. She still felt guilt and disgust for taking another's life.

She could still picture the way it happened, blood, Jennova's blood, dripping from the blade of her sword. If she was murderous, then she would have killed Andy for bearing witness to a murder that Alex did not commit alone. "Trust you to take lover-boy's side." Ajax said, glaring at Andy without turning his head completely.

"Son.. be silent." Zeus warned, which caused Ajax to clench his jaw as he now kept silent and waited for an opportunity to make his own speech.

β€œLook- Trinity Wallace, Daughter of Ares. I don't know much about the actual events except word of mouth. Mason, Theo and myself were absent on a mission. I know Alex killed Jennova, but that doesn't make her a murderer. She doesn't have murderous tendencies, trust me I know. If anything, after she killed Jennova, was when she became a little unhinged. But I'm a strong believer of an eye for an eye, and I'm not sure who started it. So either payback is due and she should face some form of punishment in the eyes of the Gods, or Alex ended the cycle with Jennova.”

Alex wouldn't blame her if she decided to take Mason's side, or anyone for standing up for those they cared for since those who cared about Alex were only doing the same. However, Trinity's words had actually surprised her. She was smart to not go by hear-say. Trinity had placed herself in the neutral zone, so to speak. She hadn't been there, so to blame Alex outright without bearing witness, would have been crazy.

The newest campers seemed to be talking quietly among themselves, probably to try and guess if Alex was actually guilty of the crimes she had been committed with.

Many years ago, there was one God which had gone against the laws of their cosmos. He had slaughtered so many mortals, all because they chose to no longer worship him. This angered Zeus. This particular God was not placed on trial, for his actions were evidence that he had done it deliberately, and showed no remorse for his actions. Zeus destroyed him where he stood, and he was never mentioned in Mount Olympus again. Though he swore, that if anyone broke the laws again... he'd make them stand trial. That murderous god, the rotten apple of their roots had once been Zeus's friend. He couldn't allow that fate for his child, especially when part of her still remained.

Image The trial didn't seem too bad, but as soon as Hades stood to speak, Alex imagined she could feel the earth beneath her beginning to slowly open up to swallow her. Her soul would be damned to the firery depths of Tartarus, where Hades would never allow her to see the light again, or her mother who was hopefully at peace in the fields of Elysium, which is Persephone's domain - gifted my Hades himself. The snake opened his mouth and began to poison the ears of those who chose to listen. "I will remind those present that this trial isn't about intentions and an individual's belief, but the actions of the Daughter of Zeus. We all know what that was, and as a result, I have no daughter anymore. And he, without a sister. In robbing this one life, you have robbed others and you have forbidden growth. Jennova was a girl. Around the same age as the children present, no more powerful, no wiser. She attended this Camp because she wanted to better herself, like many demigods. Even I thought it would be a sanctuary, but it appears it is where the vile are permitted to roam." Alex remained silent, tears falling down her cheeks as Hades's words cut into the most. She thought that was the end until Mason added his own words. All of it made her feel even worse.

She could no longer look at anyone. Her gaze remained focused on the sand floor of the arena, wishing it would really open up and swallow her this time. Her heart felt like it was crushing along with her lungs. She held her hand over her chest, steadying her racing heart, and struggled breath.

Her brother was the last to stand. "Ajax Valis. Son of Zeus." he still didn't like saying that, still held a grudge against his father like an immature child, but this time... he finally decided to let it go. "You all forget, that it was Alex who did her best to keep everyone safe last year. She held the biggest threat back with me and our father, placing her own life at risk for everyone else to stand a chance. She held them back so the others could take out the lesser threats. Alex has been nothing but kind, and for a sudden change of personality, surely people should know that isn't right. No one can suddenly change overnight, especially when she's been such a lovely person her entire life. She was a rebel during her teen years before attending Camp Athens, but that doesn't mean she is a murderer. We all have a past.. every single one of us. Does that determine who we are, and who we choose to be now?" he sat down, fists clenched. He didn't want to take it any further, scared that he might say something he'd later regret. Her brother's words were honest, but it didn't seem to be enough. Even with Duke and Wes on her side, it just didn't seem to do her justice.

Image This was it. As Ares stepped down from the podium, Alex squeezed her eyes shut tightly, begging beneath her breath, sobbing as she readied herself for the fateful blow... but it didn't come.

She opened her eyes and looked up. Ares had taken hold of her arm instead, and lead her over to the luminescent liquid that filled the large basin. Were they going to drown her in that thing? without a word, he let her go and held out his hand, signaling for her to step into it. So she did.

***

Image She stood there, looking down into the basin as silence fell on the room. All eyes remained on her, and it wasn't long before the room also grew dark with only the Pensieve's light to be seen.

Memories began to form. They spiraled up before her which gave the others the insight of what exactly Alex was seeing. It formed clear images of the past, followed by whispers until they turned into voices, voices that echoed clearly around the room. Zeus swallowed as he recalled Susanna's voice.

"Alex!" she rushed over, both of her arms held open wide to embrace her child. With her cheek pressed against her mother's shoulder, Alex closed her eyes as her own arms wrapped around her mother's slender frame. Already, she hated this. The warmth of her mother's love was never forgotten. Not even the scent of her perfume that had been embedded in her skin and clothes. It had been a Greek flower - An Iris - one of her father's chosen favorites from Aphrodite's garden. "I take it the camp allowed you to finish and come home for the holidays?"

"Yes."

Susanna frowned. "What's wrong? are you not excited to be home? you and your brother get to spend time with me until you have to go back. We can plan something together. What do you think? Alex?"

She felt her hand squeeze around the handle of the blade she had suddenly picked up, and before her mother could even get the chance to leave, Alex began to plunge the knife repeatedly into her mother's stomach as she remained emotionless, even while her mother screamed in pain.

Susanna fell to the floor, bleeding to death as she begged for help, but Alex just stood there. She watched as her mother reached out toward her, her bloody fingers gripping at the bottom of her trousers. "Please..." she begged again, right before Alex finished it and exited the kitchen, leaving her mother's lifeless body in a pool of blood.

Image Part of her that remained in the present, stepped back and screamed out. She couldn't believe she was seeing her mother dead like that for the first time. That memory had kept itself from her... until now. "No!!" she wailed. Athena quickly moved to her side to support her.

"It's okay.. keep going." she whispered into her ear. "Dig a little deeper." but Alex didn't want to.

"No, stop! please... let me take a break. Please." she begged. Athena looked up at Zeus. He nodded once to give her the all-clear, so Athena gently leads Alex out of the memories.

β€œMore or less,” Sylas responded, making her smile. She'd take it. β€œI might add that you're not being very... subtle. Your pretty face might not last much longer if you do not learn some tact.” And she thought she had been unkind, holding Eve in similar regards to a child. But it was a potential reality for the daughter of Hera.

Evelyn so much as shifted her weight to follow Sylas before, true to her nature, Eve didn't respond so well to the comments made. β€œGod, Look at you both. Standing there so self-serious. You make something that is supposed to fun, tedious and boring. Speaking with big words and double meanings rather than actually doing anything.”

Evelyn tilted her head. What exactly was supposed to be fun that they made tedious and boring? β€œWe're sorry you feel that way,” Evelyn offered emptily. The words were unapologetic and instead translated to we're not changing for your benefit. Gods, more double meaning. Consider her called out to a degree.

When Eve's eyes moved to Sylas, she quickly understood the first jab must have been more for her and Sylas's was impending. β€œAnd you, you fancy yourself a little mastermind of some imaginary game you’re playing?” She laughed then approached Sylas's ear to have some more intimate words with him.

β€œContrary to what you've been lead to believe... Not everyone can be your puppet. Maybe you should refresh your knowledge of the Gods.”

Just give her the answers Sylas, but it didn't matter for all Eve called over her shoulder was, β€œI prefer to think of them as dolls.”

Evelyn tried her very best not to break out into a grin watching Eve wander off to a new victim and lick her wounds. She didn't often take such pleasure in another's faults, but Eve was so remorseless and shameless and just herself. β€œYou try to help a girl and she thinks you're playing 'riddle me this'. If I didn't know better, I'd say you upset her.” They hadn't blatantly told Eve what the problem was but they very well pointed her in the right mind path.

Once again Evelyn let herself be guided by Sylas into the arena. As she settled in, she couldn't remove her gaze from him and of course, it was rude to stare, but it was a compliment to ponder. β€œYou have much explaining to do,” she forewarned him and let a hint of a smile cross her lips before her eyes turned on Alexandria as the trial began.

Many spoke for her, claiming she was a good person at heart and this event held some extraneous variable propelling Alex into her actions. In the hall, even Ajax had said something about believing an item to be cursed by Hades. In Evelyn's version of court or a trial, the only thing that would truly stand and make a difference was hard evidence, or at least, a compelling argument. When did Ajax intend to show the bracelet? Unless it didn't give him all the answers he could hope. It was silly placing so much faith in one theory.

Evelyn's thumb tapped on her lips as emotions got involved. Mason chose to refer to the son of Hecate as dead because of the Valises and her gaze flickered to Keith. There were so many kinds of death after all. Reluctantly she tore her eyes from the boy with glasses to focus back on the present talkers. Then Ajax spoke, who still didn't bring the cursed item into the argument. She couldn't follow their logic, a trial was no time to withhold information. Then the Gods introduced the Pensieve luckily, and it allowed a large peek, larger than what would have been welcomed, into Alex's actions. Evelyn's eyes widened at the brutal attack and she sat straighter, thumb glued to her bottom lip in shock. If these were the moments prior, it was no wonder they thought her cursed. The shock factor took Evelyn's keen eye for detail out of the equation, however.

Alex begged for a break and her wish was granted. Evelyn sighed mixed with disappointment and relief as her hand finally moved to cup her own neck. Gods knew how long the intermission would be. She looked around to the rest of them, avoiding Sylas's eyes should he share an insensitive comment about the scene that unravelled before him. At the same time, it was important not to tip any weights so he could appear more favourable in her mind. Let it be raw. β€œEntertained so far?” she inquired, looking at him finally.

β€œAlso, I am terribly curious to see what you think of my matchmaking skills.” Evelyn gestured to Eve, who now latched to a boy whose name she couldn't recall. But he looked relatively vulnerable to the charms of a woman. He was definitely someone to stroke the blonde's ego. β€œBut I'm most curious,” she smiled knowing she was daring Sylas to answer her again, β€œto know why you interfered with Eve. That hand intercept of yours could almost be seen as a preserving move. Now, a man's intentions can remain his own, but if you don't tell me I'll just assume you have a secret soft spot for me,” she stated, mocking a matter of fact tone.

Poseidon's daughter stood up once all was said and done, interjecting just seconds after the break from the memory pool was both called and granted. Whilst Liv knew she was a newcomer, it was beneficial to both the prosecutor and the defendant to have an unbiased eye or two. This woman had watched enough crime shows to know that there were certain things that were necessary for a Trial, even if it might be different in the home of the gods.

”I am Liv Pfeiffer, Poseidon’s Daughter - and while I might be new, and perhaps even my interjection unwanted by the vast majority here, I wanted to offer up my own personal opinions on the matter. Though, you may call it a desire to hear facts not emotional ramblings. I don’t know if trials on Olympus operate the same way as it does on the earthly realm, but since we are half-human, maybe we deserve the same courtesies afforded to us in our own courts. It’s only fair, is it not?” She waits a moment, her eyes flickering from the gods to the demigods, of whom may or may not be utterly receptive to her words. It was always hard to hear the logical stuff, hence why everyone is attempting to appeal to emotions.

Her gaze lands on both Hades and the Son of Hades, ”I understand that you are deeply wounded emotionally from the loss of your daughter, however, what evidence do you have that the daughter of Zeus was - beyond the shadow of a doubt - the only one complicit in her murder? How do you know that the accused,” she points to Alex, ”... was in her correct state of mind given all that we know about the manipulations of her peers?” She looks pointedly to Eve, then to Trinity, then to Wesley. If one blond could create such chaos on the domain of romance, why not another in that of murder? Regardless, she continues on, "Furthermore, Hades, the son of Hades, and to all others that might be against the accused - what evidence do you have that the daughter of Hades did not instigate a fight that ended in her unfortunate passing? How do you know that Andy saw what she saw because she did say that there was limited visibility. One can't be convicted guilt of hearsay."

Liv was shameless, but she also has no personal stake in this Trial. She was not necessarily friends with many, and she most certainly made herself an enemy or two just moments ago, so the thought that she could be more alienated by her peers never struck her. The thought that the other gods could smite her never bothered her. The fact that she could earn herself more trouble was, well, it wasn’t at all in her thoughts. She just didn’t care. Perhaps not caring would glean more insight to the case that could put everyone at a relative ease.

”All of the testimony thus far has been circumstantial - it’s all hearsay. While we are glad to hear that many are friends to Alex, I am wondering if there is physical evidence for or against the accused. If there is, one should offer it up immediately. The memories of the death of her mother is relevant information, but it is still not evidence that she committed the murder in question recently. It’s just an attempt to sway her peers against her and cause Alex to place blame on herself based on past actions, and it further adds to the confusion that I am sure many of the campers feel. Offer evidence for or against her, or drop the Trial until you can find it. That’s all I wanted to say as an unbiased party that is neither for or against Alex.”

She finally took her seat again, crossing her arms over her chest and sighing. This was going to be a long day, but no one was offering up anything of use.

Sloane watched as the proceedings of the trial began to get underway. She half paid attention, but another part of her didn't see the significance in her being there. Perhaps a third party point of view was needed? Some neutral view like Switzerland that wouldn't be bias to the Valises holier than thou aura or the dark pull of the son of Hades. But in her mind, she couldn't care less of the outcome. It seemed no matter how many unbiased parties were present, the verdict would still be decided upon with a swayed heart.

Movement out of the corner of her eye brought Sloane out of her own head. She slowly looked over in time to see Pete making his way straight toward her, even taking a seat beside her. "Well," she said to him without looking away from the trial as she crossed her right leg over her left. "You aren't very smart, are you?" A rhetorical question asked quietly, so only he could hear, in regards to her previous comment in their earlier conversation.

Her right foot gently bounced as she continued to watch as, one after another, people spoke up in favor or against. When Trinity spoke up, Sloane noticed Pete shift beside her finally deciding to speak to her. β€œReckon she did it?” he asked quietly, showing some respect for the proceedings at hand.

Sloane slowly leaned back in her seat, she was about to give her own opinion when Andy spoke up. The words the nervous girl said got her undivided attention. That perspective definitely seemed to change her view on many things. Up until that point everyone spoke on feelings and emotions, rather unimportant things when it comes to facts and witness accounts. But this... this was real evidence, or something to actually go off to say the least.

She waited through the rest of the pomp and circumstance, even through Alex's memories being put on display for the rest of them. Then finally it seemed the girl couldn't handle much more and a recess had been called. With that Sloane let herself relax back into her seat and looked over at Pete. "Well I agree with Liv, that evidence is needed to some extent. But from where I'm sitting, the question isn't whether or not Alex killed this Jennova, but if the intentions were her own."

Sloane raised a brow slightly. "Your thoughts?"

Wes sat back down. He had no idea if what he said was going to be helpful or not. The court in Olympus seemed different than what he was used to seeing when he saw his father work back home. His fingers mindlessly ran across the surface of his new arm as he watched Duke move to his feet. Something must have pushed her, whether circumstances or a person."

β€œLook.” Wes's heart nearly skipped a beat when he heard her speak. He slowly spun around in his seat, looking toward Trinity as she addressed the crowd. β€œ- Trinity Wallace, Daughter of Ares.

Her words were true, not that he necessarily agreed with her perspective but he couldn't deny some of what she said. The truth of the matter was... Well no one knew the truth and how could they? Either way, he knew Alex was not a murderer, and if she took Jennova's life with her own hands then it wasn't on her decision, something else was at play. He could only hope that this trial got to the bottom of it.

It then seemed that the opinions went from positive to negative as Andy stood up and spoke of her account with finding the crime. Wes never thought to ask her what she witnessed and it seemed that her honesty opened the flood gates for the more negative opinions, in particular Mason's. He shifted in his seat as he spoke his peace that he was entitled to. Wes felt sorry for him, for losing a sister. He had no idea what that felt like, similar to the argument he made when he addressed everyone. But he also felt that clouded Mason's judgement. If the son of Hades had a say in anything, Alex would be long dead as fair payment.

Wes sat upright in his seat, watching as Alex was guided to a pool of water. He winced and looked away as the memory showed Alex stabbing her own mother. When she begged to end it, to take a break, Wes nearly stood up and pleaded with her for them to give her a break. But thankfully, they finally listened to her cries and allowed for a break. He sighed, slouching back into his seat, raising his hand to pinch the bridge of his nose. He hated all of this. It wasn't like watching the numerous court hearings his father worked at, this time he had a stake in it... this time the life of his closest friend was on the line and it took everything in him to not speak out of turn or yell at someone who called her a murderer.

β€œGod, Look at you both. Standing there so self-serious. You make something that is supposed to fun, tedious and boring. Speaking with big words and double meanings rather than actually doing anything.” Eve went defensive, like a caged animal, brushing everything off as good humor or what have you. It was to be expected from someone who could wrap most people around her finger. It was almost like a silent reminder to not let himself get that way. But unlike this impulsive woman before him, Sylas never did anything without a plan, and even then, he always had back ups for his back ups. After all, it couldn't hurt to be prepared.

β€œWe're sorry you feel that way,” Evelyn responded.

Sylas couldn't help but smirk at the comments. "I can speak plainly for you, if you'd prefer. But I doubt you'd like it. Might upset your delicate nature."

β€œAnd you," Evangeline added looking toward him. Sylas even faked surprise, pointing to himself like she could have been referring to someone else in the surrounding area. "You fancy yourself a little mastermind of some imaginary game you’re playing?” She smirked and leaned in to whisper to him, although his present company could no doubt hear it as well. β€œI prefer playing games in the real world.”

"I'm not the one with one foot in the grave, love," Sylas replied. This time there was no smirk or hint of witty banter that crossed his face. Instead his expression was serious, perhaps even frightening. This child had no idea what she was playing at nor the stakes. Sylas did not care for the games she was playing at nor the outcome it meant for her. But he refused to let her sloppiness drag him down with her. "You're making enemies quick, and not the good ones. If you keep at it like a child, then it'll only be a matter of time before we're here for the trial of your murder."

The blonde strode away like she didn't have a care in the world, but Sylas wasn't an amateur. Every word shared between himself and Evelyn dug under her skin. He didn't care if she wished to play the game along side him, he liked competition. But she was sloppy and lacked tact. Her actions were gathering speed and soon enough the downward spiral would take anyone close along with it. If one person at the camp was discovered to be manipulating the others, who's to say that wouldn't also implicate himself or Sloane. His job was chaos, after all. And he couldn't do that from behind bars or in the grave. Silly child.

β€œYou try to help a girl and she thinks you're playing 'riddle me this'. If I didn't know better, I'd say you upset her.”

"She could have said please and I would have enlightened her," he mused.

Sylas walked alongside Evelyn toward the arena, watching the other campers congregate together. Those of like minds huddled together hoping to build strength off one another. They took their seats among the crowd, not particular with a group or saddled up to anyone but among them. He couldn't very well hear everything nor learn anything from a distance, unlike his sister who seemed complacent to be as far removed as possible.

Evelyn found her spot beside him, and Sylas couldn't help but notice her staring. She wasn't subtle. He looked over at her from the corner of his eyes, a slight smirk working its way at the corner of his lip, waiting for her to speak whatever was on her mind. β€œYou have much explaining to do.”

He let out a chuckle and a slight nod. "As you wish."

Then everything began. Sylas had to hide his excitement or intrigue at the unfolding of events. But it wasn't what interested most people that got his attention. The endless chatter for Alex was mind-numbingly boring. In his mind, she had already made her bed and now it was time to lie in it. Just from his brief encounter with the girl she was unhinged. And what was wrong with that? If she wants to be a murderer so be it. But falsifying this sense of a good person under the manipulation of another was tiring. He felt it in her, her darkness. Anyone else who claimed not to see it was just fooling themselves.

Instead he focused on the second meanings behind words, and whispered comments for only friends' ears. A comment from the daughter of Ares about the unjustness of attacking an unarmed person. Mason's own words in regards to a dead son of Hecate... Another topic of interest he'd make note to talk about later. Or better yet, the comment from Mr. Camp himself, shit talking his own girlfriend. Sylas had to refrain from smiling at that nugget of knowledge. What could the daughter of Hecate have down to stir such outright disgust from him... In front of everyone? Sylas hadn't even laid the ground work for that part of the plan he promised Mason, but it had seemed as though things didn't need his help. Not that it meant he wouldn't nudge it along.

Sylas's attention did turn back to the proceedings at hand when the daughter of Zeus was lead to a basin of water, her memories laid bare for all of them to see. He watched as she plunged a blade into her own mother. Then the hysterics began, similar to what he saw earlier in the day when he only gave her a small nudge. Gods she was a ticking time bomb. Part of him wanted her to be spared just so he could push her over the edge at a later date and see the chaos she could cause when her madness overflows. But, if anything she seemed like a rabid animal in need of putting down. Either way, innocent or guilty, camp would not survive the verdict. They were all tip toeing on the edge of a civil war. It was only a matter of time.

β€œEntertained so far?” Evelyn asked as she looked back over at him.

"Immensely," Sylas replied with a single word. Oh, he could go on and share the things he was learning. But he liked leaving a bit of mystery, and enjoyed even more watching her try to figure him out. It was all in the thrill of the chase.

β€œAlso, I am terribly curious to see what you think of my matchmaking skills.” Evelyn motioned toward Eve who was preying on some other unfortunate idiot. β€œBut I'm most curious to know why you interfered with Eve. That hand intercept of yours could almost be seen as a preserving move. Now, a man's intentions can remain his own, but if you don't tell me I'll just assume you have a secret soft spot for me.”

"I can see why you came to your conclusion," Sylas answered as he looked in Eve's direction. "But she isn't quite my type. I like my women mature, calculating... unpredictable." He smirked slightly as he looked back to his present company. "Qualities she does not possess."

Sylas than ran the tips of his middle and index fingers across his bottom lip as he contemplated her second question. "Hmmm," he hummed as he looked Evelyn over. "Perhaps I don't like the idea of someone else playing with my toys. Maybe I'm selfish?" He quirked his head to the side. "Or I worry that her sloppiness could back fire onto me and I don't want to be in the line of fire for her impulsive and tactless nature?" Sylas then leaned in toward her slightly, lowering his voice to a whisper while holding her gaze. "Or maybe, I do have a soft spot for you."

He slowly leaned away from her, sitting back upright as he looked around toward the other campers, gauging their reactions to the events of the trial. "You wouldn't like being her puppet," he added with a sideways glance toward the red head. "She wouldn't be as fun as I am."

"Trust you to take lover-boy's side," Ajax said glaring straight at Andy.

She wanted to get up and just leave. She spoke her peace, only spoke truth to what she witnessed. That was it. Andy had no further obligations to anyone in the arena. Maybe she could just get up and walk out. Get back to Olympus before the others and shut herself in her cabin. If they weren't surrounded by their parents, the Gods or the other campers Andy would have defended herself... Maybe slapped Ajax too. Gods knew she was tired of this back and forth, pick a side bullshit between Mason and Ajax. She was done.

Then she heard Mason's voice as he addressed the crowd, saying things she had heard from him numerous times before. Things that Andy couldn't deny she partly agreed with. She could hear the sadness in his voice, she didn't have to see him to know that tears were filling his eyes. Her jaw clenched as she fought the urge to look at him. She sat there silent, clenching her hands together making her knuckles white as he spoke.

"...I wish I was a son of Hecate for a day." The words instantly made her spin around where she sat to look at him. What was he doing? "So I could show you all what it's like to come back to camp and hear your sibling is dead, the one time you left them unprotected. So you could see their heads disconnected from their bodies... But even the son of Hecate's dead because the children of Zeus only care about themselves and their emotions."

Andy sunk into her seat at his words, slowly turning forward as she stared blankly ahead. Why did Mason have to bring him up now? She couldn't remember much of the battle. All of it was a blur aside from Daniel... Watching him fall to the ground, trying to save him and sending him away with her mother who let him die. She didn't want to think about it. For so long she's been suppressing the memories, keeping them at bay... But even here it seems that they were destined to resurface. Was this over yet?

And then it was Ajax's turn to speak, of course he would. Andy didn't dare look at him, she didn't know if she could handle his judgemental gaze. "Ajax Valis. Son of Zeus. You all forget, that it was Alex who did her best to keep everyone safe last year. Does that determine who we are, and who we choose to be now?"

Wrong. Someone can change overnight. Andy has changed, maybe not over night but she is not the same person she once was. With enough motivation a person can go from a saint to a murderer in the blink of an eye. The death of her mother would have been enough to send Alex over the edge. She has never seemed the most stable in Andy's eyes. Maybe that was her own dislike of Alex, but in her own opinion, the girl makes bad choices and it only seemed to drag Ajax down with her. Andy couldn't remember the last time Alex did anything for the camp that was selfless that deserved this blind loyalty Ajax sought from them.

Andy wanted to pull her eyes away from the scene of Alex's memories being played before them, but she couldn't. So she not only killed Jennova but her mother as well? What did this have to do with Jennova's death? Wasn't that what this trial was for? Her mind raced with questions and few answers. Alex couldn't seem to handle the replaying of her memories so the Gods allowed for a brief break. And in that break Liv spoke up. A voice Andy did not expect to have anything to say. She looked to the girl and listened as she mentioned lack of evidence, comparing emotional stakes to the truth.

But Andy's attention wasn't undivided until she heard her own name. "How do you know that Andy saw what she saw because she did say that there was limited visibility. One can't be convicted guilt of hearsay." Liv then proceeded all but tell the Gods that trial was irrelevant with out circumstantial evidence. She understood that the girl was just trying to give a neutral unbiased opinion but it seemed the more she spoke the more annoyed Andy became.

With a sigh, Andy stood up once again. She didn't want to speak again, but looked as though she had no choice. "I would not have stood up and given a testimony that was going to make half of the people here hate me if it was just hearsay... Or if I wasn't certain of what I witnessed," she said at first speaking toward Liv personally. Andy might have been coming off defensive, but it was the truth. She would not have given some half baked excuse for truth if she wasn't certain. "If the Gods wish to see for themselves, I will gladly walk down to that pool and show you all." She pointed to the water that, just a moment earlier, Alex's own memories were presented for the crowd. "As for evidence, what do you want? Her corpse? I buried her out of respect for the dead and her loved ones. And I won't exhume her body for spectacle."

Her gaze drifted over to Ajax, who, no doubt, was probably staring daggers at her that very minute. Her voice lowered a bit, this time not speaking as much to the crowd, but to him. "I'm over this petty feud bullshit. I'm over it. I'm on 'the side'," she made air quotes with her fingers showing that she used his words. "Of the dead. Of truth and justice. It's not right to be murdered in your home, in a place you're supposed to feel safe. She deserved a heroes death like the rest of us. And if it was to be at Alex's hands, then a fair fight. But it wasn't."

Andy held his gaze in silence. Her face was serious, but also sad and frustrated. "So, if what I saw... My memories, can bring peace for the dead then I'll happily give them," she concluded loud enough for the Gods to all know that they could take what they wish from her. "I am done being a pawn for the two of you to use against one another."

With nothing else to say, Andy didn't return to her seat, instead ascending up the stairs and out of the arena. Once away from the crowd she felt like she was finally able to breath. Her hands grasped at her sides as she paced outside the entrance to the Acropolis. For the first time in... longer than she could remember, Andy felt like some of her burdens were finally off her back. The constant fighting and tug-of-war between Ajax and Mason. The emotional rollercoaster they put her through. The weight of Jennova's death preying at the back of her mind... All washed clean in a matter of minutes. All that remained was the overwhelming guilt of being unable to save her brother and she was left with Keith. Whoever or whatever the hell he was.

Demeter and Iliana sat together just before the trial started. Ethan and Heath sat near them too. Just before the trial started though, someone suddenly appeared and bumped right into Demeter.

β€œOh, shoot - I am sorry! Today is just not my day. Well - I don’t know, I guess it’s all from a point of view. In some ways my inattentiveness was a gift.”

"It's no problem dearie. It could have happened to anyone. Is there something I can help you with?" Demeter asked.

Instead of answering her, the dark haired young woman turned to Iliana.

β€œHi! You look like Iliana. I’m Apollo’s daughter, and my father wanted me to sit with you during the Trial. I actually meant to catch you before we got to Olympus, but a really cute boy sidetracked me. Has that ever happened to you?”

The girl's enthusiasm really caught Iliana. She never met anyone with overactive energy too. She did know Apollo. He'd been her primary caretaker when she had been taken care of at Olympus after her ordeal. Those memories were foggy though since she had been fighting for her own life. Her kidnapping had been horrendous and during her healing in Olympus, she had been kept under. Even Hypnos got involved when constant nightmares caused her to thrash about in her sleep, delaying the healing process. Not wanting to remember that time though, Iliana continued to listen to Apollo's daughter.

β€œMy name’s Cherise, and I’ve got a spot saved for us. At least, I think I do,”

She saw the girl turn towards a guy with glasses. She honestly didn't know what to do either. She looked at her mother first.

Demeter smiled and replied, "Go on ahead Iliana. I am not leaving.

Iliana turned to Ethan and Heath next and they smiled back too. Cherise seemed like a nice enough person and if Demeter was fine with it, they would be also. Iliana turned back to Cherise and nodded before standing up. Before the two could leave though, Demeter said something.

"Oh Cherise, I don't know how much your father told you about Iliana, but we are trying to keep what happened to her a bit private since it's up to Iliana if she wants to talk about it. Only gods who know about Iliana are Zeus, Athena, your father, Hypnos, Hermes, Hestia, and myself. Also my daughter cannot speak at the moment so she communicates through her notebook. Have fun you two."

Iliana nodded and went ahead and sat with Cherise and the other guy with glasses.

As the trial started and people started speaking up, both Ethan and Heath played close attention. Ethan was reading the emotions behind the words while Heath was looking for possible lies. So far he couldn't detect none. One thing was obvious though, they really weren't making a lot of headway. It was almost like a "He said, she said" situation. Finally a daughter of Poseidon spoke up, basically asking for physical proof. Both Ethan and Heath agreed with her. These words though seemed to set Hecate's daughter off. It was pretty obvious too that she had been through a lot, especially when it was mentioned she lost her own brother. When Andy left, it was Ethan who stood up next since he recalled something Ajax said to him.

"Hi, I am Ethan, Hestia's son. I have a question for Ajax. Didn't you mention something about a bracelet that belonged to Alex and you believed it to be curse and the cause of her actions toward Jennova. Do you still have it? If this bracelet is cursed it could provide some answers and physical proof."

After that he sat back down and then Alex was brought to a pensive. The images scene caused her to fall apart again and this had a major effect on Iliana for her pain was overwhelming. Seeing her daughter in distress, Demeter rushed over to her and wrapped her in her arms, with Ethan not far behind. He started using his serenity inducement on her while Demeter cooed to her softly. In the meantime, Hestia rushed forward to Alex and had Athena give the girl to her.

"Come back to us Alexandria. Remember the good times with your loved ones. Breath, don't let your emotions take you." she told her, using her own Serenity inducement.

Being a goddess, her Serenity Inducement would not only affect Alex, but anyone else in distress, which included Iliana. Soon the blond calmed down. Seeing her daughter was alright, Demeter let her go while Ethan returned to his seat.

Heath was relieved to see his sister okay, but seeing Alex break down reminded him of that time when she almost unleashed her powers. He knew she had been provoked then and was a loose cannon. If she had indeed been mentally unstable when she killed Jennova, it would definitely helped her case. Wanting to find out more about the day of Jennova's murder, Heath stood up.

"My name is Heath and I am Athena's son. I have several questions regarding the day of Jennova's death and well as the actions of both the victim and defendant. Who was the last last one to see Jennova alive? Did she and Alex ever have any prior conflicts? Also, who was the last person to see Alex before the incident? How were both girls acting that day before the incident?" he asked.

Iliana listened to her brother ask questions, but her eyes stayed glue on Alex, feeling so bad for her because she could relate to her pain. Iliana herself was still in a fragile state of mind. If it wasn't for her mother, Ethan, and Heath, she could have easily turned out like Alex.

None of it really surprised Theo. Trinity lashing out so quickly he couldn't stop her wasn't surprising. It's not like there was much he could do to stop Trinity anyway. She was born stronger than he would ever be. As could be expected at a place like Olympus, the fight was over about as soon as it had started. Liv and Trinity exchanged some last venomous words, and then Trinity was taken out of their sight. Theo hung his head. Why did people always have to mess with him? He really just wanted to be there for the people he cared about... especially Trinity. She definitely mattered much more than anyone else at camp. Theo wandered over to the edge of a nearby fountain to sit down and think, observing the comings and goings of his fellow demigods and their parents. It seemed to Theo like everything was going to shit just at the wrong time.

It wasn't long before he heard a set of feet creeping up on his left side. He knew who it was, but he looked anyway. Sure enough, there was his mother, Artemis, standing there with her arms across her chest, mimicking his long face. Theo let his lips curl into a slight smile as he stood up and reached out to pull Artemis into a hug.

"Theo, what mess are you into now?"

It was typical of his mother to cut right to the thick of things. She had always shown concern for Theo, and she wasn't one to beat around the bush.

"Awwww mom, you know me. I just have to get caught up with some girl. I just wish I knew if she was caught up with me or not," Theo laughed it off like it was no big deal. He had always felt a need to make his mother feel like he was okay or happy, even if he wasn't.

Artemis nodded at Theo, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder as she spoke, "We need a hunt together soon. I feel like we haven't spent enough time together lately. As I'm sure you know, things have been very busy here. Speaking of, I must get to the trial. Don't be too long. Proceeding should begin soon."

Theo watched as his mother strode past him, golden gown flowing behind her with grace. The conversation had encapsulated much of their relationship for the past few years. There was much love and care underneath the words, but the communication was lacking. Theo let out a yawn as he reclaimed his seat on the edge of the fountain. He let his mind rest over the next few minutes as gods and demigods alike flooded past him into the trial room. Theo ignored it for the most part, keeping his head down and speaking to no one.

β€œTheo right?” Theo looked up, even though he recognized the voice. It was the Eve girl, the one who had played a role in causing the fight between Trinity and Wes. What on earth could she want? "Yes, what's it to you?" Theo let disinterest pour into his tone, hoping she would get the hint. The last thing he needed was Trinity mad at him over this random girl too.

β€œI- I’ve made this great huge mistake.” Theo was kind of caught off guard as Eve's eyes began to water. It took him slightly a back, feeling a sudden need to comfort the girl as she continued to speak, β€œTrinity, you’re friend? She’s- she’s kind of scary. I’m so scared to approach her, so I was hoping you could pass a message on to her for me?”

"Yeah, I can tell she's not a big fan of yours. I'm not so sure I can..." Theo started to speak but the girl's expression changed suddenly as she cut him off.

β€œOh, The trial! I have to tell you everything, come sit with me.”

Eve basically dragged Theo into the trial with him, but for some reason he didn't feel the need to complain, just a rush of desire to comfort her. It confused Theo because he knew that this would piss Trinity off, but he didn't much care.

As they took their seats, Theo scanned the crowd. Trinity was sitting right across from them. This drew a frown from Theo, but maybe she wouldn't see him. Theo wasn't sure is he wanted to say anything at the trial or not. It wasn't like he could say anything different than any of Alex's other friends were saying. Trinity, Duke, Wes, Ajax, Andy... they seemed to have it covered. Theo listened to them, but the trial was honestly boring. He turned to Eve, leaning towards her, "So ummm... what was it you had to tell me?"

Alex has been nothing but kind, and for a sudden change of personality, surely people should know that isn't right. She was a rebel during her teen years before attending Camp Athens, but that doesn't mean she is a murderer. We all have a past.. every single one of us. Does that determine who we are, and who we choose to be now?" Ajax said, obviously looking to appeal to everyone else except himself, and the warrior princess if she remembered anything they spoke about. Pointedly, he sought her out and smirked. Ajax was a joke to Mason at this stage.

The Gods continued leading Alex to the pensieve. There it showed her killing her own mother or something alike to the maternal figure. Alex stabbed her a few times. So she had murdered her own blood while she was in the mood. "No, stop! please... let me take a break. Please." She was drawn away from the pensieve and Mason took a break himself, sighing out and resting back.

Out of nowhere another girl rose. It’s only fair, is it not?”

He just wanted a damn recess. Mason rubbed his head as if the girl had conjured him a headache suddenly. ”I understand that you are deeply wounded emotionally from the loss of your daughter, however, what evidence do you have that the daughter of Zeus was - beyond the shadow of a doubt - the only one complicit in her murder? How do you know that the accused ... was in her correct state of mind given all that we know about the manipulations of her peers?” Her eyes pointed to Eve. This girl was just colder and colder from the right trail, Eve was nowhere near Athens last year. Nor were any spawns of Hera or Eris. Just a daughter of Zeus that couldn't be held accountable for her own actions. "Furthermore, Hades, the son of Hades, and to all others that might be against the accused - what evidence do you have that the daughter of Hades did not instigate a fight that ended in her unfortunate passing? How do you know that Andy saw what she saw because she did say that there was limited visibility. One can't be convicted guilt of hearsay."

Now she was questioning Andy's recall? She said she had limited visibility not hallucinogens. "It's so weird, it's like she's speaking to us but I can't make sense of it," he told Hades, who hushed his son calmly.

Mason opened his mouth to speak but someone else beat him to it with a scoff. "Sorry, we forgot to bring Jenn's head to appease you." Mason looked to the source doubtfully. A faint smile appeared. The comment wasn't as loud as an announcement, just a casual voice but Mason heard it and he liked it. Maybe there was a bit of Daniel in there after all. Instinctively he moved his eyes to Andy hoping she had heard the first good thing in a while. But she might have been too far off like Liv was.

"I would not have stood up and given a testimony that was going to make half of the people here hate me if it was just hearsay... Or if I wasn't certain of what I witnessed. If the Gods wish to see for themselves, I will gladly walk down to that pool and show you all." Mason swallowed the sudden lump in his throat. But if Alex could see her stab her own mother, Mason could see his sister beheaded...he hoped. "As for evidence, what do you want? Her corpse? I buried her out of respect for the dead and her loved ones. And I won't exhume her body for spectacle."

Mason glanced to Hades. He better not have touched Jennova's body or soul all for the sake of a point. "I am done being a pawn for the two of you to use against one another," he heard.

Andy left and there was some other movement going on to control emotions so he took the chance to exit the Acropolis himself before death gripped his arm. "Do not disappoint me," Hades said and let him go.

Mason exited and approached Andy, though didn't come too close to the girl. Especially with new knowledge of how much a slap from her could sting. "Hey," Mason rose his hands, "I come in peace. I just wanted to check you were okay." Mason looked her over and noticed her wreath. A few demigods had wreaths and it turned into another divide for Mason. Ajax and Alex's closest clan members were gifted with them. He shook it off and carried on with what he wanted to say. "I also wanted to say I am grateful for your testimony and offering to have your memories looked into. I know it's not over yet but I wanted to say thanks, it means a lot. I'm scared shitless to see what you saw," he admitted and laughed once. "But if it's evidence..." He'd have to bear it.

Sensing he was an unwelcomed presence, he nodded to her and turned on his heel and crept back into the Acropolis to finish the trial. He wasn't trying to magically erase how he spoke to her earlier, but he wanted her to know even when he was angry with her, and her at him, he appreciated what she did.

He returned to his seat to finish the trial. "My name is Heath and I am Athena's son. I have several questions regarding the day of Jennova's death and well as the actions of both the victim and defendant. Who was the last one to see Jennova alive? Did she and Alex ever have any prior conflicts? Also, who was the last person to see Alex before the incident? How were both girls acting that day before the incident?"

Mason frowned. He was gone all day so he didn't know who saw Jenn in the last 24 hours, except for Alex. But maybe the hair model had a point. But it was all getting very tiresome, the demand for evidence, the want to know the actions of the days prior to the death. "To my knowledge there was no prior confrontation and Jennova was fine. Stop searching for exit points and a plea of insanity from her. Sometimes people are just monsters." When Mason collected a soul for Hades, he didn't play the blame game, he owned his actions.

"This isn’t a debate of whether she did it or not. We all know she did. People just want to know why so why don’t you speak up and tell everyone already so we can move this thing along," he said to Alex. He didn’t even care if they decided not to smite her at this point because he would hunt her no matter what. Even in the Underworld.

After a sea saw of fors and against they led Alex to the basin. It showed her stabbing her mother repeatedly and Trinity cringed as the girl became a wailing mess, pleading for it to stop. Well, fuck. Trinity looked hesistantly to Liam. β€œWould you be able to hurt your mum with Ares rage?” she whispered. She didn't think the rage and violence of even Ares could compel Trinity to hurt her family. Including on the worst day.

But then her eye caught Eve sitting with Theo. Fucking fuck. She lost sight of him during the fight. She was tempted to wave her arms around and warn him to the dangers of the succubus. The blonde already had a date with Wes, she couldn't cozy on up to Theo too. β€œDirtbag,” she grumbled. Ultimately she didn't do a thing aside from commentating because the company the boys kept were their own decisions.

This fight wasn't hers. It was the Valises' and Mason's. She was tired. Trinity got up and chose to leave, thankfully as the particularly irritating voice of Liv stood out, detached and nosy as ever.

Right now for the welfare of herself and campmates, the only thing to do was leave early. She mounted a Pegasus. β€œBack to camp please.” She wasn't sure if they understood English or needed a command but there it was and the creature broke into a gallop and took to the skies again. If she had any control of the horse she might have flown around the Acropolis and given the bird to everyone, but straight to Camp would do.

* xxx * xxx * xxx *

Trinity let out a deep breath as she arrived back in camp, banned from the group outing because she couldn't promise to behave. The Camp was frightening when it was abandoned. Sure nature was still green, the ocean still blue and vibrant, even in the dark, but it was a ghost town without the bodies of camp drifting through.

She thought she'd be at camp and inner peace would be restored because she didn't have to look at any faces that would infuriate her but she just felt purposeless. Trinity wandered to her own cabin and took off her maroon cardigan, catching another glimpse of the bruises and claw marks on her arms. She smiled a little and lifted her top, checking the new little fight marks on her body. Trinity always could conjure a dash of respect to an opponent who fought back. The same opponent who had also said something about Wes's cabin being a mess.

Trinity decided to inspect the damage for herself. She didn't know why she was so compelled to see the state of his cabin. Probably because somewhere it meant there was no date at his cabin tonight, and that meant she could start finding reasons to be wrong. Trinity pushed the door ajar, slipping through the gap. β€œOh, Wes,” she muttered, seeing the mess in the cast of moonlight. Furniture was turned upside down, she saw pieces of debris scattered along the floor by the things that hadn't endured his tantrum in one piece.

She sighed out and hooked up his speakers first so she could listen to something while she tried to restore the room. Wes had great taste in music but she just wanted her own crap on for the moment. A song came on that Trinity forgot she ever had. She pricked up her ears, contemplating skipping it. Initially, the song didn't seem aggressive enough, but it reminded her of a certain someone and turned therapeutic for her to join in with. She began turning the furniture upright then knelt on the floor to gather the broken pieces, wood chips and so on. β€œMaybe if I act like that, flippin' my blonde hair back, push up my bra like that, I don't wanna be a stupid girl.” She hummed along with Pink. She placed a couple of salvaged bits and bobs back on the table and got to her feet. β€œI'm so glad that I'll never fit in, that will never be me.” Trinity waltzed around the cabin and started imitating being a plastic blonde, flicking her hair about and sticking out her chest to name a few token moves as she cleaned up, and yes, at one point, using the furniture to slut drop and poke out her ass.

The freedom to act how she wanted and be mocking and bitter and a bit of an idiot, without judgement, was relieving. Why, it was even like she was unwinding which she was in desperate need of. Trinity didn't even think of an excuse if she was busted intruding in Wes's cabin, but it was all for the greater good. She knew her manners and she wasn't invading his privacy or snooping around, just repairing a cabin she was partially at fault for destroying.

Trinity stepped back, cocking her to the side. Everything was up again and it was no longer a safety hazard to walk through but it wasn't straight either. She nudged the furniture with her knee and stepped back again to see if things aligned better this time around. Trinity didn't have the patience or careful touch to do things delicately and bring it back to Aphrodite pristine standards. So while it wasn't perfect, it was better than him cleaning up from scratch.

Being attacked by the emotionally vulnerable was an inevitable byproduct of trying to remain as unbiased as possible whilst also attempting to reach the same goal: an end to the trial and the doubt once and for all. First it was Keith with his side comment, ”Sorry, we forgot to bring Jenn’s head to appease you.”. That came as expected, and she allowed it to roll off of her shoulder. Clearly her entire argument was dismissed immediately for bitterness.

Then there was Andromeda, of whom was understandably on the defense. Only a few words struck Poseidon’s daughter as particularly so, and she realizes that perhaps it was she who made an err in speech. Either that, or no one chose to listen to her - just like in Trinity’s case. Instead of listening, everyone just jumps to conclusions. It was impossible to help anyone here, honestly. ”As for evidence, what do you want? Her corpse? I buried her out of respect for the dead and her loved ones. And I won't exhume her body for spectacle."

Literally no one offered anything of value that would draw the trial to an end. Instead, emotions and pleas to her friendliness or tempered manner were being brought up - as if any of that had to do with anything. After all, some of the most notorious serial killers had families and were folks of charismatic persuasion. Friendliness meant nothing to those that were not capable of being emotional, or even worse, those that simply knew how to act without betraying the fact that they were psychopaths. All of their points were moot. The memory pool, something reminiscent of a past that may or may not have actually been (because everyone assumes all Demigods come here with knowledge of all of these things), is interesting - but it’s not proof of this murder.

β€œSanity is an issue when we are talking about the capabilities of manipulations. Also, no one was asking for proof of a murder or that the girl is, indeed, dead. Rather, proof that it was an act committed by Alex alone and of her own volition. No one listens here. But please do carry on with your emotional ramblings so that we can be here forever for something that can be solved, irrefutably, with proof. But if you guys are fine just taking jabs at each other and taking sides without actually knowing the truth, well... Who the fuck cares? It's only a trial.” She would leave it there, crossing her arms over her chest and flinging her feet on the back of the seat in front of her (if that was possible). Alex was not her friend, and this whole trial had nothing to do with her. But if this was going to be how trials work and how illogical and ready her peers are to attack each other based on how they feel, then gods help any of them that land themselves in Alex’s spot in the future. Maybe they will be lucky to have another rational being up here, like Liv, trying to figure out the actual happenings instead of allowing them to be slaughtered by their personality.

Finally, voices of reason and logic break through all thr bullshit. This interested Liv. Her eyes swivel toward Ethan and Heath, head tilted. When their questions are addressed, it seemed half-assed. Jennova's brother had no interest in the truth; only in convicting Alex. A shame that all the logical bystanders were being quietly or vocally admonished while the emotional headaches were so heroic.

Since there was no one really listening, and everyone is so angry about trying to find truth and justice in a logical and rational manner, she closes her eyes, leans back, and pops some earbuds into her ears. There was honestly no one here worth the trouble, and daddy-dearest was doing gods knows what.

Also my daughter can not speak at the moment so she communicates through her notebook. Have fun you two." She smiles at that, giving Demeter a rather goofy two-fingered salute. At least, from a distance she probably looked silly. Probably up close, too. ”Not a problem! The secret is safe with me,” she chimes, bouncing on her heels whilst rendering the famous gesture of zipping her mouth shut. Then she’d grab the girl gently by the wrist, if she was allowed to do so, and they’d be off! She hopes that her rather innocent and eccentric demeanor might give off a good vibe. Someone that does both the two-fingered salute and the zippy mouth is certainly not hostile!

Cherise guides Iliana to a chosen seat; ensuring that she settled down and was reassured before she, herself, sat. She offered her a quick pat on the thigh; a platonic gesture that further implies that she’s well within reach just in case anything should arise. Not that Apollo’s daughter was particularly strong or capable of certain things, but she was an amiable presence in the midst of all of this… chaos.

Next was Keith, as he also required something of a kind presence beside him. While Cherise did not know the depths in which Keith was dragged into during the events of the last year, there was an inkling of a feeling that the trial would be harsh on everyone. There were the bereaved, the bitter, those uncertain, and others that were friends to the accused. It was a motley of emotions all in one place and at once, and she knows a thing or two about demigod temperaments. She had done some homework regarding this place called Athens, in which she’d be forced to mingle for gods only know how long.

For a moment Evelyn looked back at him, and even for the timing of a half-heartbeat, as the redhead averts her gaze back to her present company, Cherise locks eyes with her. It’s not long at all. Fleeting. Curiosity lending her the desire to look to her side and gaze at Keith - to wonder if something was up. Though, the way he had looked at Evelyn earlier, it was probable that maybe the two of them had a thing for one another. She isn’t jealous, but she isn’t sure what to make of it. Then again, she’s new. If anyone looked at her, they’d notice her shrug at seemingly nothing - just a passing thought.

Fingers drum along her knees as she had witnessed the trial; and she found herself gently clawing and grasping at her skirt at the memory of Alex’s mother. Her nose wriggles back and forth, but she’s relatively calm. There wasn’t much that could be expected from her - input or otherwise.

”Sorry, we forgot to bring Jenn’s head to appease you,” pulls her out of the spell of just staring at a now crystal clear pool of water. Recess was called, and folks seemed to venture off and do their own thing. Cherise just kind of… stayed where she was; stuck in her own la-la land of thoughts.

The trial was not of much interest to him, to be honest. There were too many emotions for any of it to make sense, and he didn’t see a good ending for it anytime soon. His eyes roll as certain people spoke - even Liv because she’s so damned long-winded and punch-able. No wonder Trinity fucked her up.

β€œWould you be able to hurt your mum with Ares rage?” Trinity inquired, looking at him for something. His gut told him that maybe she was looking for some words of comfort - that he would tell her β€œno” and that they could control themselves like that. Even with the people they loved. Liam was the honest type of guy, and he wasn’t going to color some unicorn fantasy world where everything was cotton candy or puffy. Or whatever girls liked.

β€œYes,” he replied tersely, and after waiting for her expression - and perhaps even a word or two, he sighs and turns to face her, β€œWe can hurt even those we love and care about. But I think that…as long as you are aware of that, you can figure out how to calm your father’s curse down before it gets to that point. But Trinity,” he pauses, looking from her to the trial floor where Alex had been observed, β€œDon’t you ever forget the feeling that all this rage gives you. Don’t forget that rage makes us blind. If you forget it or you think you’re above it, that’s when you’re going to do it. Trust me on that.” There - one brotherly duty done for the day; sage words of advice from a meathead. It would probably not come again anytime soon.

He turned away and leaned back into his chair, β€œDirtbag,” Trinity scoffs, and that causes Liam to look back at Theo and Eve. Oh, the busty blonde - that would give him a perfect in. Especially upon seeing that Sloane was otherwise occupied with another guy.

Not that there was jealousy, of course. She’s pretty, but if he went over there and shoved him aside, she’d probably not like that very much. He had the feeling that he’d probably just make her shrivel in her seat, and not in a good way either. There was a good way to do that, he thought idly.

When Trinity departs, he looks over at Andy and gives her a thumb’s up before she turns around and leaves. After all, the woman stood up and told it like it was, and it did look like she had been a bit scared of it.

Liam, himself, pushes his lumbering form from his seat and makes his way to Eve and Theo. Of course he sat himself next to the blonde, body turned to her and elbow propped on the back of the chair. He makes a little show of flexing his biceps - getting his arms in that perfect position so that they’d wrinkle his shirt in that muscular way. Whatever way that was because women loved muscles. He honestly didn’t have much else going for him.

Liam was good looking, obviously athletic, and had a lot of hidden intelligence that was more intuitive than book smart. He was a likeable guy, but he has one itsy bitsy fault, and it spills out of his mouth unabashedly. β€œI couldn’t help but notice that you have nice tits.”

There - there was the pig that all women hated to wake up beside in the morning. It was really appalling, but his inability to appropriately compliment a woman probably has a lot to do with the fact that it meant that they wouldn’t get too attached. β€œYou’re blonde, too, which is even better.”

When she’d turn to look at him, which she certainly will anytime now - even if it was to deliver a justified slap to the face, Liam would drink her figure in like a glutton eyeing the baking aisle of a grocery store. It’s a bad metaphor, but Liam was full of them.

β€œI am Liam, the-” he paused, trying to get out the word son, but he couldn’t do it. The thought made him sick to his stomach. β€œI am Trinity’s half-brother.” That was better. So much better. Trinity, for all of her faults, was better than having to align himself with his father by calling himself his son.

Son of Zeus || Hex: Green Outfit: XXX

Image"Hi, I am Ethan, Hestia's son. I have a question for Ajax." Ajax turns his head to look at him. "Didn't you mention something about a bracelet that belonged to Alex and you believed it to be cursed and the cause of her actions toward Jennova. Do you still have it? If this bracelet is cursed it could provide some answers and physical proof." Ajax turns his head again, this time in his father's direction who was looking straight at him, waiting for his son to answer the question.

Ajax nods. "I had Hecate look at it before the trial began. It was cursed, but it's not cursed anymore. We left it too late to find out who left the mark." he said. His eyes land on Hades. He had a feeling in the pit of his stomach that it was him, since part from his son, Hades was the one who had a deep dislike towards his father. At least, they were the only two he knew about without any doubts lingering in the back of his head. He could bet his life on it.

Liv gave a long speech, and even though she did have a point, it was clear that no one was patient enough to find out what would come next. His sister had just managed to grab herself a break, and already everyone grew restless. He didn't blame them, but a trial wasn't supposed to be fun. Ajax's gaze moves to his hands as he clasps them together, rubbing at the skin on the back of his hand as he stares at his feet with his mind absent as he waits for his sister to continue with the memories that Ajax didn't like seeing, but if it's all that can prove Alex's innocence... then so be it.

Image "I had Hecate look at it before the trial began. It was cursed, but it's not cursed anymore. We left it too late to find out who left the mark." If only that cursed object had still been intact. The trial would have ended so much sooner. "No matter. Everything will be brought to light soon enough."

As his son's eyes travel to where Hades and Mason sat, Zeus also looked in their direction. It was easy to point the finger without hard evidence, which is why Zeus did not act. So many enemies lurked the very corners of Tartarus, their souls forever wailing in the depths of despair, unable to escape their torment for the gates to the underworld remained guarded by Hade's loyal beast. Cerberus. Though it was not Hades who had placed them there, not all of them at least.

So many of them still want their revenge on the King of Mount Olympus, and so many still prefer Hades as the king instead.

Hades no doubt had plans conjuring inside of that head of his, but Zeus's only concerns, for now, were on his daughter.

With his weight baring down into his hands on the arms of the throne, he straightens himself up to stand. A couple of the Demigods had left already, and he wasn't about to stop the others if they no longer wished to sit during a drawn-out trial. But every second counted for Alex. "Thank you, Miss Pfeiffer, but we are aware of what needs to be done. We will not allow my daughter's trial to be decided on emotions alone, hence why the method I am using is in progress."

He knew that she meant well, so he hoped that he wasn't too harsh. Gods didn't have much to them when it came to emotions, they lacked in areas which human's did not. But this didn't mean they felt nothing... their emotions just weren't as intense, which is why it was so easy for Zeus to leave Susanna after choosing to return to his realm. Still, he knew what love was and how much he did love her. Still loves her.

he looks down at his daughter and the goddess who is stood next to her. "Are you ready to continue?"

Daughter of Zeus || Hex: #d63b71

Image Alex sat on the sidelines, gathering the strength she'd need for round two of reliving the memories she wanted to remain forgotten. "Are you ready to continue?" her father asks.

Alex looks down for a second before looking back up and giving him the answer they all wanted. "Yes." as the Goddess who had stepped forward to help moves her back to the pensieve, Alex was regretting every second of ever coming in the first place. But it needed to be done to clear her name once and for all. "I am so tired, and I just... I want it to be done with. I'm ready." she stepped back into the cool liquid and closed her eyes.

The Pensieve lunged into action once more, throwing Alex into a much deeper memory this time. The night of Jennova's death.

Alex remembered it well now. Jenn's face was stoic and emotionless while she took a drink of her water before leaning her right shoulder against the door frame. "What do you want?" she said, right before Alex unsheathed the sword that was attached to her back. "What the hell do you think you're doing with that?" Jennova took a step back. "Ah... well, if you think you can scare me then you're wro--" THUMP, a severed head hit the ground. She hadn't given Jennova a chance to finish.

It was Andy and Wes who had found her, and Even back then, with what was right there before them... Wes still never judged Alex. He gave her a chance to explain. "We should get you to--" Wes cut off. He hadn't noticed that Andy had run off to get Alex's brother, but there Ajax was. He had arrived and was yelling so loud that the entire camp could have heard him.

"What have you done! what the hell were you thinking?" He looked at the headless body.

"He's going to kill me... Mason's going to kill me."

"I won't let anyone kill you" Wes promised.

The memories went on a little further until there was indeed evidence of the bracelet getting to Alex by Jennova's hand. All to please her father.

Image
God of War || Hex: #b32626

Image Ares let out a frustrated sigh as he watched the memories unfold. They were only going to point towards the God they had always suspected from the very beginning. As much as Hera still disliked Zeus, she had too much to lose and had been promised her Queen status on condition of keeping her claws out of the children. So it couldn't have been her.

"We have all witnessed that Hades manipulated his daughter to carry out his work against Miss Valis, so, with permission from Zeus himself, the Gods of mount Olympus hereby sentence Hades, ruler of the underworld... banished. To Tartarus." of course he wasn't going to stay there forever, no doubt he'd find his way out one way or another. The Olympian guards took hold of Hades, and escorted him out of the Acropolis. Thank god the trial was over. Ares still believed that it was pointless for everyone to have come. They could have easily found everything out without them having to see the young girls memories, but maybe it's because Zeus wanted them to know and see for themselves that his daughter wasn't the monster that many so believed. There was no bringing back Jennova, but at least all of them could move on in time, knowing that it was all done by the hands of Hades. again.

β€œIt is too easy to take someone’s will for your own,” Pete said as he turned to Sloane. β€œHard to prove though.”

Sloane looked him over slightly, while her fingers twiddled in her lap. He wasn't wrong. It was so easy to persuade people, no matter how much she disliked it. She tried to fight the urge to glance over at Liam, but eventually her gaze found her way to the brute of a man. And it seemed for the brief moment she looked to him, Liam's gaze met her own. She inhaled sharply and nodded her head in agreement to her present company's comment. "It's hard to prove magic. It doesn't leave a finger print."

Then, when Pete was presented with her question he flashed her a half of a smile. β€œOh, I don’t give those away, even for a penny.” Sloane remained sitting upright and poised as he leaned forward to deal with some matter with his shoe. β€œShe’s guilty alright. Just depends if they want her dead or not.” Her gaze followed the motioning of his hand toward the present Gods.

Honestly, Sloane didn't much care for the verdict. She ran a hand back through her dark hair as she studied the surrounding Gods and demigods, half wanting it to go one way and half another. Pete's tone showed he was as detached from the proceedings as she felt, although she tried not to be as open about it. Olympus court was nothing like the courts of mortals. There... Alex would be guilty. No contest.

β€œThough, I’m not the smartest lad.” Sloane smirked as he acknowledged their earlier comment. But then it quickly faded as she watched his attention shift from her to something past her. She slowly turned her head finding the red head that caught his attention. The girl sat with her brother and stared unabashedly toward her. β€œDespite your best efforts, you’ve drawn attention.” And then Sylas's own gaze found his way back toward her.

Sloane sighed, leaning back in her seat, sparing a side eyed glance toward Pete. "That's unfortunate. I thought I could go through life invisible."

The trial quickly resumed and it seemed as though how easily everything seemed to be turned against the Daughter of Zeus, one memory surfaced from the girl turned the tables entirely. Then as swiftly as the proceedings started up, they ended with the word of Ares gave the final sentence to Hades, banishing him to Tartarus. Nothing was said of Alex, but no doubt she was now innocent. If she weren't in the company of Gods and demigods alike she might have even scoffed at how easily the verdict flipped sides.

"Well... That was convenient," was all Sloane managed to mutter about the conclusion of the trial, speaking only quiet enough for Pete to hear. With a sigh, she pushed off of the seat, moving to her feet. She had no desire to linger around or mingle. "I think I've had enough of Olympus for quite some time," she concluded with a polite nod toward Pete.

Sloane was unsure if Pete would follow her or not. He was free to do as he wished, but she desired to have her feet firmly upon the mortal ground. Being one of the first to leave the Acropolis, she didn't have to snake her way around many others, only slipping past the daughter of Hecate who lingered by the exit. She found the Pegasus where they were left and quickly mounted it. Sloane wanted nothing more to take off and descend back down to earth, but remembering the ratio of campers to creatures, she sighed and decided to wait until someone wished to join her.

Sylas's brow quirked as Evelyn took hold of his collar, begging him to keep his attention on her. β€œIf I had to pick one of the three, I'd say the first,” she said as she released the fabric of his shirt. β€œYou do strike me as someone that doesn't like to share and is very self-orientated. Worrying about another's actions seems beneath you, especially with nothing to tie you and Eve together. As for the last option, as flattering as the thought is, I don't believe we've had enough time together for you to grow such attachment. Yet,” she concluded.

Evelyn definitely was much smarter than she let looked. It was rare for someone to surprise Sylas like she did. Of course, even he himself could not clearly agree or disagree with some of her assumptions, but that didn't mean he didn't enjoy watching her connect the dots to what she assumed was him. He couldn't help but smile as her stifled laugh in regards to his other comment. β€œI don't think I'd appreciate being anyone's puppet. No matter their fun value. I can imagine it though.”

Sylas hummed at the comment, like he took that as a challenge. But said nothing. He let his gaze drift back to some of the bullshit that could barely be considered a proper trial. More of he said she said, way too many character witnesses and people who have no stake in the matter feeling the need to state their peace when it was uncalled for. Then there was a recess. Surprising. It seemed as though the trial had barely been underway yet they were breaking. At this rate there wouldn't be a verdict for another decade.

β€œEve wants gossip to collect information and to pull on a few heartstrings. She wants to be the embodiment of envy and jealousy to women, and desire to men. I'd be a great informant for her, but considering I'm not a male, she'd grow bored and release her spell. Now as your puppet, the bidding you'd have me do could vary.” He chuckled as he leaned back in his seat. β€œIf you're lucky all you might have to do is ask rather than be domineering.”

"I'm not much of the... asking type. But I'll keep that in mind." Sylas turned his attention toward Evelyn, preparing to continue the conversation with more innuendos and presumptuous talking but found her looking toward the back of the arena.

He didn't really bother himself with what might have caught her attention, that was until she spoke. β€œDo you happen to know who that devilishly handsome man is by your sister?”

Sylas had to fight the urge to snap his head around in his sister's direction. But he knew an action like that wouldn't go unnoticed by Evelyn. He kept his expression unchanging as he slowly turned around and set her eyes on Sloane. He didn't know who expected to be sitting beside her, but definitely not the man he encountered earlier that day. What in the world were Eve and her brother playing at? His brows furrowed as he held Sloane's gaze for the brief moment she looked in their direction.

He smirked as he face forward. Sure, Sylas could have approached his sister... caused a scene. But her knowing that he saw it was torture enough for her, at least for the time being. "That would be the brother to our dear Eve." Sylas then ran his hand back through his hair trying to project the facade of someone unfazed. Sloane knew very well that her magic wouldn't work on the boy, yet she let him sit with her. So, either he was distracting her or she was dumb. And he knew his sister wasn't dumb. But he'd get the truth from her later. "No doubt he must be up to something nefarious, like his sister."

Then, before he knew it, the trial concluded. It was almost out of left field how suddenly Alex's memories brought forth sufficient enough evidence to convict the one God all the others hated. Interesting how they are so quick to incriminate him, yet drag on for ages to do the same for the girl. Prejudice bullshit. If it were a child of any of the other unfavored Gods like Hecate, Hades, Eris... or even Hera, they would have been damned from the moment they stepped upon the soil of Olympus. But no, Alex was a daughter of Zeus. Un-fucking-touchable. Sylas couldn't quite hide his disgust at the way things unfolded. Not nearly as entertaining as he'd had hoped.

With a sigh, he pushed off his knees and stood. "Well I do think that our conversation was the highlight of this trip. Because this trial was rather disappointing." Sylas looked over to Mason. He wouldn't be half surprised if he saw him leap over the side of the arena and attack Alex right there. Would he help the son of Hades? Who knew. But the trial was bullshit. He could only imagine how fuming Mason would be as the little mouse who couldn't speak tried to communicate with him... Probably trying to be sympathetic. Why was it whenever someone tried to give their sympathies they always had to share a story about themselves, like that made it any better? It never did.

Sylas scanned the group of demigods. Half relieved, half pissed... A melting pot of emotions, ready to bubble over at any moment. This was a recipe for chaos, even without the added help of himself or the Hera kids. It was only a matter of time before all hell broke loose at camp and they were all going for each others' throats. "I give it a week before half of the demigods here are going at one another."

"Hey," Mason's voice broke the silence. Andy quickly spun around on her heels, her right fist balled. She wanted to tell him to leave her alone, just go away but the words never found their way to her lips. Instead she crossed her arms as he held up his hands as a way to show her he wasn't there to fight. Not that time, anyway. "I come in peace. I just wanted to check you were okay."

"I'm not." Her reply was brief. She didn't try to mask her frustration and anger, letting it show in the way she stood, her facial expression and even the whole two words she spoke. Any other day, Andy would have probably rambled on about everything that had her pissed off. She wouldn't have been thankful at his presence. But not then.

"I also wanted to say I am grateful for your testimony and offering to have your memories looked into. I know it's not over yet but I wanted to say thanks, it means a lot. I'm scared shitless to see what you saw." He even laughed once. Was this his idea of fixing everything that had been broken between them? "But if it's evidence..."

Andy didn't move. She just stood there, staring at him, taking in his words. Part of her wanted to say she didn't do it for him. But they'd both know that was a lie. So, she settled for silence until he nodded toward her and returned to the Acropolis. She contemplated leaving. No Gods came to her, requesting her candor or memories. But she didn't want to be told what happened from someone else. Although the results would be pretty black and white, she didn't need someone twisting how that happened to persuade her to think one way or another.

She didn't re-enter the Acropolis, instead standing at the entrance behind everyone else and watched. Andy winced and looked away as the memories showed Jennova's head removed from her body. After a brief moment, she looked back up seeing a mirage of herself arriving at the scene along with Wes. And then there was a second memory... Jennova handing over the bracelet to Alex. Then that was it. Apparently to the Gods that was damning enough for Hades and Alex's saving grace. Andy had to fight the temptation to let out a disappointed laugh. Why did she expect a fair trial? She had no loyalty to Hades, she had more reason to hate him than most. Yet, this wasn't fair. Condemning a God from a single memory from one girl who is desperate to save her own skin. She rolled her eyes and shook her head and turned from the arena. Mason wasn't going to accept that. And this time, she wasn't going to stop him.

Andy was about to head back to the pegasi and go home, but a new blonde camper all but bee lined for her outside of the arena. She tried her best to seem as welcoming as possible because there was no chance of her dodging the conversation at this point. "Good day, my name is Heath and I am Athena's son. I am also Iliana's adoptive brother. She wanted me to let you know that the trial is over. It turns out that Hades was the cause of Alex's actions for he cursed a bracelet of hers that caused her to become unhinged."

"I saw," she managed to reply as politely as possible.

"I guess Jennova was a friend of yours and I am sorry for your loss. Hades has been banished to the underworld. Anyway, Iliana ultimately wanted to make sure you were going to be okay too. Would you like to be alone for now?"

Andy shook her head. "She wasn't my friend. I don't even know if we ever spoke to one another. I just..." Then she caught herself before she bared everything to Heath. She didn't want to unpack all of that, because the second the flood gates opened they couldn't be closed back up. So, instead she shook her head and brushed it off. "Never mind. Thanks." She gave her best smile. "I just want to go home." Before she got asked anymore questions or stopped by anyone else, Andy turned and headed for their rides out.

Just as she reached the Pegasi, a voice called to her. "Andromeda, I thought you might have come to see me?"

Andy stopped before the nearest Pegasus, not turning around as she addressed her mother. "Why?"

"Because... I'm your mother," Hecate replied.

"And what about Daniel?" Andy snapped, turning to face the Goddess.

Hecate sighed, extending her hand toward her. "Please, Andromeda... Just let me explain."

"No," Andy almost growled as she shoved her mother's hand away. "I don't know what you did to him. But that thing in there," She pointed toward the arena as she spoke. "Is not my brother."

Hecate was quiet as she tried to find the right words. She parted her lips, but Andy spoke up before she could. "Fix him... Or forget that I'm your daughter."

Wes watched as Alex's memories were displayed for them all to watch. A two-armed version of him even arrived, bringing back his own memories of his arrival at the scene. So many other things transpired that year that he nearly forgot he showed up when Andy did. The words his spoke echoed throughout the arena. It was weird having these images of himself displayed for everyone. It wasn't like a sex tape was plastered everywhere but it somehow still managed to feel like an invasion. No one ever liked watching themselves in videos or hearing their own voices... This was no different.

"So, with permission from Zeus himself, the Gods of mount Olympus hereby sentence Hades, ruler of the underworld... banished. To Tartarus."

His heart nearly skipped a beat with relief as the verdict was made. Hades was guilty, not Alex. Finally, Hades was being punished like he had deserved so many times in the past. Part of him wishes that the sentence was worse for Andy's sake along with Alex's but now wasn't the time to argue for a worser penalty. After all, could Gods even be killed? Well if they could, he deserved it.

Wes gave Duke a pat on the back, while flashing him a smile. Not that the two were the closest of friends. But he knew that he had to be feeling similarly how Wes was... relief. Then instinctually, he glanced over his shoulder to find Trinity in the crowd. And she wasn't there. Not that she would have been happy to find him looking a her. He sighed and moved to his feet, making his way outside the arena but he didn't see her. He wondered his way over to the Pegasi and found Andy arguing with someone, only catching the tail end of the conversation.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt," he apologized.

"Don't. I was just leaving." Andy said before turning her back toward the Goddess.

"I... uh... Wesley Preston," he offered his right hand to the Goddess, not really know how to act as he accidentally stepped into that conversation.

But before she could respond, Andy called to him. "Can you help me, please?" He gave Hecate an apologetic smile before he helped Andy onto the back of the Pegasus. "Are you going down?" she asked.

"Um, sure?" Andy was probably his safest bet for riding companion at this point and by the looks of her she was ready to get out of there. With or without him. Part of him wanted to stay behind and wait to speak to Alex, but no doubt her father, her brother... Duke and maybe even the Gods wanted to speak with her. So, he mounted the pegasus and they quickly descended back down to the camp.

Once there, Andy didn't say anything else aside from a passing thank you after he helped her down. She quickly took off in her own direction toward her cabin, leaving him standing there like a big dumb idiot. What was new? Wes scratched his head as he trudged off toward his cabin, testing the reflexes of his new arm as he did, clenching the fingers, twisting and bending it in every direction to see if it did what he wanted. He had no idea a fake arm could do that.

Wes sighed, dropping his arm to his side as he made his way up the steps remembering the state he left his place in. Well, at least he couldn't lie about being busy the rest of the day because it would take that long for him to clean it all up. Then he could just, be alone. But when he opened the door he found everything picked up and back where it belonged... And a blonde standing in the middle of the room with her back to him. His hand slowly fell to his side. "Trinity?" he said, barely above a whisper.

Heath lectured on about the definition of monster according to google that he must have memorised. Did he really want an answer? No. Did he deserve one explaining how he came off as another blind worshipper of the Valises who would lick their boots if they asked, and it was a fact to Mason that she was a monster, yes. But the trial concluding held more importance to him so he let it be.

Ajax piped up again going on that there was some cursed item involved then Alex's second vision began. He inhaled sharply then closed his eyes as he heard the awful thump of his sister's head falling from her body. For some time, he kept his gaze averted to the ground until another God spoke. "We have all witnessed that Hades manipulated his daughter to carry out his work against Miss Valis, so, with permission from Zeus himself, the Gods of mount Olympus hereby sentence Hades, ruler of the underworld... banished. To Tartarus."

Mason looked to Hades accusingly, and rather than vanish in black smoke, Hades let himself be grabbed and taken away. Mason let it happen too, no retaliation or final goodbyes from either of them. Mason lowered his forehead on his fist. So Alex was innocent and Hades guilty according to her memories. Now he was as good as fatherless. Now there was no family to appease. Just more murderous thoughts. But he didn't want to brood about it in Olympus. As he got to his feet, somebody approached with a Goddess in tow and turned a notepad around to face him. What the hell?

~Um, hello, my name is Iliana and I am Demeter's daughter. I can't speak at the moment so this is how I communicate with people. Anyway, I just wanted to say I am sorry for your loss. I saw my . . own father get killed by a human . . when I was 5 and I still have nightmares. Momma told me to remember the good times though and that has helped. So maybe you can try to remember the good times. So I guess what I am trying to say is I know how feels to loss someone dear. I remember being very angry for a long time too and I withdrew from the world. I hope you have someone to lean on. That's really what I wanted to say.~

Was she a mute or what? Nonetheless, Mason sighed, preparing himself to be as civil as he could be. "Me too." At the moment it really was him against the world. "Do you know what happened to your father's killer? Did they walk away freely too?" Because they didn't so much as slap Alex on the wrist for her crime. Mason's eyes moved pass Iliana to Demeter. Gods were normally vengeful beings but he didn't think Demeter or Iliana had it in them to make the human pay. Unlike him.

"No disrespect, but if you hold me up, we're gonna have to ride together and you probably don't really want that. I'll see you back at camp." He shifted past her, patting the small thing's head gently and left the Acropolis. Then another dread struck him. The Underworld. Without somebody to keep it in check, many souls would cling to the hope of life, to try climb out of the place when they didn't belong anymore. "Fucking Gods!" He growled. It wasn't like the Underworld was a nice place full of fun and delight. That was already Hades' punishment.

He didn't have any gods or peers to catch up with. There was no reason for him to stick around. Looked like it was back to being a Hermit for a while. Or back and forth trips in the Underworld. A girl with dark hair and pale complexion was already saddled up and ready to go and as he got closer he knew the face. She was quiet and wouldn't bother him with idle chatter or as he recently discovered, writing. Perfect. "Hope you're not reserving a seat," he said and climbed on behind the girl. "Because you're my best bet."

Mason wasn't much for hugging strangers usually but he wanted to go and that took priority at the moment. He held her slim waist gently. "Sorry," he said in case she was uncomfortable. She'd have to deal with it though because he wasn't falling to his death today. He might have been more sympathetic and aware on other days, but today as she probably witnessed, wasn't his day.

Once at camp again, Mason dismounted and offered her a hand down. "Thanks. For tolerating me." Not that he had been much in the way of conversation, but a brooding presence holding onto her. Mason went to walk away but for some damn forsaken reason he couldn't just leave her casually. "Do you want to get food or something? Can I walk you to your cabin?" Even in his state, he couldn't just leave her without something to offer after flying with her. Besides a day or two earlier he was interested in getting to know what she was about.

Image Duke remained a silent and composed observer throughout the remainder of the trial. There were a few demigods tried to strip emotion from the equation, but it was an emotional case, to expect anything else was unlikely. He hurt for Alex seeing her stab her mother then decapitate Jennova. Neither action was truly hers and it was important people saw that, so though it hurt to live through again, it was vital peers saw the truth: that there was an extraneous variable in play, that no murder would be on the table if it weren't for the curse to begin with.

He was relieved when Ares said the final verdict. Apparently Wes shared the relief and enthusiasm giving him a pat on the back. Duke smiled in return. It was over. It was finally over. Part of him wanted to leap down the wall and hug Alex but brothers first. If Duke and Wes were relieved, imagine Ajax's flood of emotions.

So instead, he headed to another demigod. His counterpart in a way, if they were to address their power of elements. "You raised some good points in trial. You should probably just work on execution, might get more respect that way." Liv possessed a real don't give a shit attitude, like an angsty teen so maybe his words meant nothing to her. And judging by the blood on her dress, she had already picked the wrong person to give that attitude to. Maybe she didn't give much of a crap about being respected but what was the point of talking if no one was going to listen? In the end, it all came down to execution.

"Are you ready to head out or what?" He gestured out of the Acropolis, arm out for the taking or decline. Either option was one he could live with. Duke was ready to return to his warehouse/cabin. It had felt like an extensively long day.

Image He just couldn't find a comfortable way to sit, tossing and turning, folding one leg over the other, upright, slouched. Gods, to settle was impossible. When Alex had recovered, she was right back into the pensieive this time to reveal the night of Jennova's death. Keith frowned, upset to find Alex had murdered another in a fit of rage but somehow, as the memories were explored, they found Jennova and Hades had collaborated on a curse on her bracelet.

To Keith it still brought about a debate whether it was right or wrong. Sure, there were other options like a duel or holding Jennova on trial but if he had to fit his feet in Alex's shoes he wouldn't have had the most rational mind either. Nonetheless, the Gods dismissed it finding the villain behind it all and Keith let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.

He turned his attention to the pretty brunette and shifted over to her. "So what did we think of that episode?" Despite the bad timing, Keith had to make light of a hefty situation otherwise he'd just crumble. Although it was arguably hyper insensitive. But Cherise didn't seem super PC. "There's so much drama and emotion present, it's actually a pretty accurate capturing of the atmosphere in camp. Are you and your sunshine and blossom up to the task?"

He sat up and looked all around the Acropolis, meerkat like. "Your friend didn't stay long." Self-consciously he thought he might have been the problem again, and almost asked if it was due to him but stopped himself. Keith had recently moved past the whole nervous rambling phase with Cherise and he didn't want to backtrack. He had learned by now the girl didn't bite.

"Did you um...maybe want to catch a ride together on the way back to Camp or...wait around here." Since he had taken so much of the girl's time he didn't see her talk to any God. He didn't even know which one was her parental figure. He'd be happy to wait around because there wasn't much back at camp for him so he was in no rush to return to his loner status.

In fact, a fraction of him saw an opportunity in the scenario of people leaving the Acropolis, either returning to camp or bonding with their parents. Maybe he could have a look at the magic pool himself. The more he toyed with the idea, the more it sung to him like a siren song. Keith had to know what had hurt him and he was attached to the idea that that water held a solution. It had accessed Alex's repressed memories.

Privacy or no privacy Keith edged towards the front row.

Image"That won't help."

Keith almost tipped over the edge of the Acropolis hearing his mother's voice. "Huh? I wasn't -"

"You've changed so much. It's no wonder Andromeda is upset with me," she said looking Keith up and down. "My poor boy, I do hope you can forgive me." She stepped by his side. "I cannot undo what's been done and consulting the Pensieve will merge memories and warp your mind. But if you bury deep...if you surround yourself with support and those who were there last year, I believe you'll get your answers." Hecate hugged him briefly and left with a smile.

What she really left him with was more turmoil. But at least she gave him hints on how to fill in the blanks. Keith still felt her eyes on him, however, was more preoccupied on who to approach for answers and who he could class as support. When he had enough wondering, he headed to the horses waiting for a partner to appear.

Sylas looked to the pair, then forward again. β€œThat would be the brother to our dear Eve.” Another spawn of Hera then. Interesting. He looked more promising than Eve but she wasn't going to make the mistake of underestimating either child. β€œNo doubt he must be up to something nefarious, like his sister.”

Sylas didn't aim for humor but he certainly achieved it with irony. She thought nothing of the others' speeches until Ajax was addressed regarding the bracelet. β€œI had Hecate look at it before the trial began. It was cursed, but it's not cursed anymore. We left it too late to find out who left the mark.” She sighed gently. Evelyn did tell him curses were tricky to pinpoint.

Alex had stepped into the pool again to reveal further memories. Alex had her sword then the head dropped to the ground. Evelyn frowned at the object being passed between God and Demigod, the bracelet Alex had on during the murder of her mother but did she wear it when cutting off the Daughter of Hades's head. This trial left much to be desired, but her investigation schedule was rather full. No matter, the Gods reached their verdict claiming Hades guilty and he was taken away. If they were content then so be it.

The company beside her sighed and stood to his feet. β€œWell I do think that our conversation was the highlight of this trip. Because this trial was rather disappointing.”

β€œHappy to be of service,” she responded.

β€œI give it a week before half of the demigods here are going at one another,” he said next.

Evelyn hummed, regardless if he was addressing her or not. β€œProbably less.” A rift was already nearly visible between demigods. She stood up and caught Nemesis's eyes on her casting her to inferiority. No doubt mother was less than pleased in the company she kept and could catch their game from miles off. So that's how it felt to be gazed upon by judgemental eyes. No matter the nonchalant air Evelyn adopted, it stirred her nerves.

Out of spite, in an act to test Nemesis herself, Evelyn considered embracing Sylas. But that would be foolish even if Evelyn found some secret for context. Sylas was clever and she had to gamble the right way at the right time with such a man. He'd get far too much joy if he discovered he was some tool used to upset a Goddess, or maybe he'd consider it an insult. Clumsy to provoke a goddess and use him in that way.

Evelyn ascended the steps to leave the Acropolis behind her. There was something that paid off in her deep thoughts: Maybe she ought to act more impulsively to throw Sylas off. To him she was, well, she didn't know, but not dumb. Underestimating somebody was a gift in disguise and she may have needed to change his mind a little.

β€œWill we be riding together or do you have other plans?”

Evelyn walked to a steed and pat its snout. When the horse pushed back into her palm, she smiled. She didn't get much time to interact with animals or the akin, they were all lovely and raw creatures, always true to their nature. They could be powerful too but let themselves be ruled by other beings. It exhibited the power of control and will: brainpower. Still, she couldn't devalue a Pegasus or other creatures.

Either way, she was stuck with the creature waiting for somebody to help her on the Pegasus. She kept stroking it until a boost arrived, watching her hand's path down its neck.

She was still pondering if things were straight enough, tongue pressed to her cheek when she heard her name. β€œTrinity?”

Shit. She turned around hesitantly not sure what kind of reaction she would face from Wes for being in his cabin uninvited. β€œHey,” she said. β€œI thought – I…um...” English! Come on, Trinity it’s your first language. What happened to the perfect justification she had thought of earlier? β€œI didn’t follow you.” Normally she would have smiled if she could afford to. Those were his lasts words to her after all, but it didn't make it okay to be in his cabin and she knew that.

β€œI just...” she looked around his cabin. β€œI'll leave. Sorry.” She lowered her head and went to brisk by Wes. She pulled herself short and snatched her iPod up then stopped in front of him. Trinity wanted to get out of there, particularly as she felt guilty for not obtaining his permission and from so many angles, it looked bad, but if she retreated, she'd regret it later. Trinity clenched her fists and took a deep breath in to compose herself, still not making eye contact with him. β€œI shouldn't have talked to you how I did. I don't own you or anything and your decisions are yours but it upset me that you would let some absolute crappy bimbo in your cabin to do god knows what.” AKA ruin everything they had progressed on. If he was going to fool around with someone, it could at least be someone better. β€œThen you have those stupid Aphrodite charms that wrap everyone around your finger and the Wes defence squad gets involved.” She put up a hand to stop him from arguing. β€œI know that's not your fault but it still bugs me.” She wasn't looking to fight or argue, just explain her mood.

She sighed out. Now that was out of the way...she still didn't feel much better. β€œI'm glad you got an arm back and that Alex made it in one piece.” Otherwise he probably would have entered bawling. Trinity brushed by Wes since the guy had to make everything more difficult and obstruct his own doorway.

She'd probably hang at her cabin for a bit then check on Theo. Unless he managed to obtain a date with the same blonde. Trinity was mentally done with the day, her priority was herself and sleep.

Theo leaned back, giving Eve an opportunity to talk. He was weary of what she might say, and he certainly did not trust her. Still, he felt oddly interested.

β€œRight.” Theo was trying to read her. She was on the verge of tears, and he couldn't tell if it was genuine or an act. He had heard how Eve interacted with Trinity on the walk to the hall, and this was an entirely different vibe from her. β€œWell, see Trinity overheard me telling my brother than Wes asked me out.” Theo feigned interest in this part of the story. For one, he didn't want her to know that he had eavesdropped on this part of the story. Also, he was not very interested in hearing about Trinity's jealousy over Wes. He had spent long enough being jealous of Wes' relationship with Trinity. Hearing that Trinity felt that over Wes and some random girl was not particularly fun. The girl continued nervously.

β€œBut well, he- he didn’t.” Theo raised his eyebrows at this. It was news to him. Theo really thought Wes had done the stupid thing and hoped that he had. Theo had always felt insecure in light of Wes and Trinity's relationship, thinking he might never be able to reach that level with her. β€œIt feels so dumb now. I didn’t mean for all this to happen... You believe me right?”

Theo was unsure what to think, but a rush of desire to trust Eve came over him as she asked the question, "I mean... it doesn't make sense for you to be lying about this to me now. I just don't understand why you felt the need to do something like that."

β€œSee, Mason was the one who asked me out. Well- to his cabin tonight. That’s hardly the same thing is it?” Theo shook his head. Mason? That came out of nowhere. It wasn't really the same thing, but he let her go on anyway. β€œI didn’t even say yes! I’m- I’m not like that.”

"Okay... but that still doesn't answer my question. Why? Popping up at camp and causing drama is not the way to make friends, and Trinity is definitely not the one to mess with." Theo was trying to be assertive and to be mindful of Trinity, but it was almost like his thoughts were not his own. He was not the type to deal with dramatic people, but he couldn't seem to stop being drawn into the conversation.

β€œI just didn’t want my brother to worry about me, you know, getting involved with a son of Hades. So I just… used Wes’ name, it was a stupid little lie. I didn’t know she’d hear it.” Theo nodded. That made things make a little bit more sense. The girl was crying, and that didn't help anything for Theo. He didn't deal with his own emotions well, much less the emotions of others. β€œYou’ll tell Trinity for me? I think she might rip me limb from limb if I try?”

Theo scratched the back of his head. He didn't know what to say. He definitely did not want Trinity mad at him over this, and while he didn't fully trust the motives of the new girl, he did believe her story. Theo felt for Eve. "I'll do what I can." He smiled down at her before returning his attention to the trial.

Things were unfolding in an interesting manner. For such a huge event, Theo realized that he had very little information on what had actually occurred. Alex's memories were vivid to the point that it was hard to watch. Theo felt the raw emotion of the moment, but the truth came to light. Hades had certainly manipulated Alex, and it appeared upon the verdict that he would receive his punishment for it. Theo wasn't naive though. It was a fair assumption that they would all see Hades again. He glanced towards Mason. Theo couldn't imagine what he would do in Mason's position. Mason usually looked strong and unbothered, but in this moment he just looked defeated. Theo also noticed that he couldn't find Trinity, and, for him, this was his signal that he needed to get back to camp.

Turning to Eve, he spoke kindly, "Remember, I'll do what I can. Just try to keep yourself out of trouble." With that, he made his way back out towards the flying horses, looking around for someone to hitch a ride with.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Iliana was uncertain on how Mason would respond to her. She wasn't surprised though about the emotions behind his question about the killer of her own father, but the question itself did catch her off guard. She barely registered the pat on the head too as Mason left. Her own thoughts were on his question. What did happen to her father's killer? Try as she might, she could recall. Even the night of her father's death was hazy and between seeing his murder to the time her mother found her, it was nothing. And her mother never told her what happened to him. She was actually too scared to ask.
Demeter saw the look Mason gave her after asking Iliana a question on what happened to her father's killer. She knew and it still haunted her.
~Flashback~
The rain pour down hard as Demeter appeared in front of the house that belonged to her daughter and love. There was silence and that was terrifying. She rushed in to find a horrifying site. Brambles of roots had burst through windows and were currently wrapped around a stranger and he wasn't moving. She check his pulse and found him dead. He had been constricted to death.
"Carter! Iliana!" Demeter cried out.
"Mommy?" a small voice could be heard behind the brambles.
The goddess made the roots go back underground, dropping the dead man, and there was a 5 year old Iliana trying to move the body of her father. He had been shot and blood was all over the floor and all over Iliana. She herself was unharmed though. The little girl was clearly in shock as she look at her mother.
"Mommy, daddy won't get up. I wanted to stop the man. Why won't daddy get up?"
Overwhelmed with emotions herself, the goddess dropped to her knees and swept her daughter in her arms. She didn't care if she got blood on her either.
"Mommy's here now Lia. Mommy will take care of everything."
~End of Flashback~
And she did, at least to the best of her ability. Shaking her head, Demeter brought herself back to the present to see her daughter staring at her. Taking a deep breath, she addressed Iliana.
"Well then, how about you go and apologize to Ajax for your previous behavior hmm?"
Iliana totally forgot about that but nodded in agreement. As mother and daughter approached Ajax, they saw he was with his own family. Demeter addressed them first.
"Pardon the interruption, but Iliana has something to say to Ajax."
Iliana had already started writing something down when her mother spoke. As soon as she wad done writing, she approached Ajax and showed him her notepad.
~I am sorry about my behavior before the trial when I gave you those flowers. I just felt your anger and it scared me. I am . . . able to feel the emotions of others and it directly affects me to the point where I can't control my actions or powers. So I left before I could hurt you and Ethan.~ she admitted, clearly ashamed of her actions.
Athena ~ Goddess of Wisdom ~ #8A2BE2
xHeath Taylor ~ Athena ~ #808000 ~ x
While Heath knew Andromida was telling him the truth about her relationship with Jennova, it was apparent she wasn't going to tell him everything either, like when she dropped the subject. That was understandable considering they just met. He planned on keeping an eye on her too to see which side of the fence she would lay on when it came to Ajax and Mason. He recalled her testimony and it wouldn't surprise him if she was an emotional wreck right now. It would explain why she didn't say if she was okay or not. He watched her walk away and decided he was say good bye to his own mother before leaving with Iliana.
Returning to the Acropolis, he soon found his mother. Athena saw his approach and gave him a small grin.
"You did well today son."
"Thank you mother. Is there anything I should know before we leave?"
"Indeed, keep an eye on Mason and Alex when you're able to. I fear Mason may try to cause her harm. I have a feeling that sides may be drawn soon since not everyone is a fan of Alex either and there are those who would like to see such chaos, like a child of Hera and Eris. If such a time comes, I ask you been the middle ground for as smart as you are, you're not the warrior type."
While Heath agreed about the part with him not being a warrior, he still wished his mother hadn't said it so casually.
"Yes mother. I will do my best to make sure Iliana stays safe too. If such a conflict were to arise, it would be too much for her. I wish there was a way we could block the negative emotions she feels from others."
"Hmm, maybe an amulet of some sort? A stone of might help block them to an extent. Why don't we ask Zeus if he knows someone who can help. I know Nemesis and a child of hers give blessings, but I don't know if that would do the trick."
With that the two head towards Zeus and his family and find Iliana and Demeter there. Seeing Iliana interacting with Ajax, Heath goes right up to Zeus before bowing.
"Pardon me Lord Zeus, but my mother and I have a private manner we wish to discuss with you?"
God of the Skies & Justice / King of the gods || Hex: #00457a
Image With the trial now dealt with, and with Hades completely out of his sight, Zeus could finally grab a moment with his children before they'd have to leave him again for Camp. "I would like a word with both of my children."
Zeus said, causing the other Gods to leave the room and the arena. "My children... I have never doubted either of you of being good people, and once Camp Athens is over for the both of you, I want you to decide on something."
he held his hands together in front of him as he stood there before them, looking between them with a gentle smile. "It is your choice alone, so whatever you decide, I will be happy. You can either come and live here with me, or you can remain on Earth with your step-father." he knew it could be a possible hard choice for them, but he hadn't done it on purpose to get them away from their step-father. Zeus knew as plain as day, what that mortal man had done for both Alex and Ajax. Raised them as his own, loved Susanna when Zeus could not. He honored the man, but he wanted to remain close to his children, to get to know them better than he thought. "You do not have to decide right away." he assured them. "There is plenty of time." he promised.
Just after hugging both of his children, and before he was about to head out, someone else had joined them. First, it was Iliana. The adorable young lady from earlier. It was nice of her to apologize to his son, though Zeus did know or understand what she was being sorry for. Next, was Heath. Still polite as ever.
"Pardon me Lord Zeus, but my mother and I have a private manner we wish to discuss with you?"
"Of course. Follow me." He leads them both to a separate room. "We will not be disturbed here. How can I help?"
Son of Zeus || Hex: Green Outfit: XXX
ImageHe couldn't contain himself. The second Alex was proven innocent, he vaulted over the wall and landed in the arena before he rushed over to her. He pulled her into his chest with his arms wrapped around her, and almost squeezed the air out of her. He chuckled as she wheezed for air. He let her go.
"You scared me."
"I know. I'm sorry. she said, her brows furrowed.
"Don't be. I'm just glad you're still with us." Mason wouldn't have agreed of course, neither would his own girlfriend, or anyone else behind them... but it didn't matter. None of it mattered anymore. Of course, Jennova was still robbed of life, but no-one could blame Alex for wanting to avenge her mother. So many would have wanted to do the same. Just as Ajax gave his little sister one more hug, their father had joined them.
Ajax stood there staring at him as Zeus announced his proposal to make a choice on where they'd both want to be, and honestly... Ajax was torn. He was already on the path towards Mount Olympus as future king, and Earth would be that home he'd miss once it was gone. Unable to step foot there, again. Unable to see the faces he cared and loved, again.
He knew his father was telling the truth. He had no reason to play manipulation with his children.
Ajax turned his head to look at Iliana with her mother. She was writing on that notepad of hers again. As soon as she was done, she turned it around for him to read it: ~I am sorry about my behavior before the trial when I gave you those flowers. I just felt your anger and it scared me. I am . . . able to feel the emotions of others and it directly affects me to the point where I can't control my actions or powers. So I left before I could hurt you and Ethan.~
He nodded. "Um.. okay..." He was confused as to why she needed to explain herself, but it was clear that she was more sensitive than the other girls, which was fine. Everyone is different after all."I honestly do appreciate it, but you, or your... brothers?" he couldn't remember if they were related or not. "Don't need to keep apologizing for what you believe to be wrong. What I'm trying to say is... it's fine. Just be yourself." He shrugged. "I should be sorry. I didn't mean to scare you, so... as an apology, how about I ride with you back to camp, huh? you can tell me a little more about yourself."
Image It felt good to finally be free, and she couldn't wait to get back to camp to be with her friends, her brother, and Duke. It felt good to have that monster inside of her head finally die, knowing that what she did, was not by her own impulse, but a cursed and manipulated one.
She looked up into the crowd, and even though some had left, and some that showed no sign of relief for her innocence... Alex smiled. Wes, Duke, and Ajax were still there, at least. For a little while. Her smile faded.
"Are you ready to head out or what?" She caught Duke say, his arm waiting for someone to hook their arm around it. It was the girl who had made such a long speech earlier. Clearly, she had impressed him for him to give her the time of day, and no doubt a ride back to camp. Alex watched, and expected even Wes to come to her... but neither of them did. Just her brother.
He ran to her and hugged her half to death, right before their father asked them to decide on something that Alex was more than happy to hear come from him. For years, she had wanted to meet him, and dreamt so many times of life beside him where she would get to see him every single day. But now that it was offered to her... she didn't know what to say. She had so much to leave behind.
She hugged her father. "We'll think about it." she answered for herself and Ajax before her father left to speak with Heath and Athena. It sounded important, but Alex wasn't about to eavesdrop. She wanted to be back at camp, so she headed out and made her way to the winged horses where Daniel stood alone.
It seemed he was waiting for someone, but the second some brunette girl arrived, Alex smiled. It was nice to see him moving on. She didn't know the girl, but Alex felt as though she was maybe what he needed to distract him. He had been through so much.
With everyone else partnering up, Alex climbed up onto the free horse, adjusting herself on its back. Maybe riding alone was a good idea. A chance to be by herself with her thoughts.
Pete watched Sloane out of the corner of his eye as she sighed against her seat. β€œThat’s unfortunate. I thought I could go through life invisible.” She certainly made a good attempt at staying out of the limelight – he liked that about her. Though he was left with even more questions about why she’d shirk from the attention of her brother.
As the trial begun to start up again, Pete muttered back, β€œUnfortunately, pretty girls don’t really get the luxury of invisibility.” Then the whole thing came to a grinding halt, one small piece of evidence was revealed in Alex’s memories and the whole trial was called to a very sudden, and a very abrupt ending. Pete glanced across the watching crowd, knowing that this would not abate their desire for bloodshed. Things would only get worse from here – he was sure of it.
Sloan spoke up, though Pete had lean towards her to catch her words. β€œWell… that was convenient.” He couldn’t help a small chuckle that came out of him in reaction to her words. Convenient was and understatement.
He responded with a similar sentiment, though he spoke louder than Sloane not caring if he was overheard. He wasn’t speaking anything untrue. β€œI feel like I just watched an episode of telly that had to wrap up before the 6 o’clock news.”
β€œI think I’ve had enough of Olympus for quite some time,” Sloane said rising to her feet, a small sigh rolling out of her petite frame. Pete mirrored the sentiment, but was slower to do it. Watching at Sloane walked away, he rose to his feet, stretching his arms above his head, letting out a yawn. He intended to follow her, if he had to ride one of those beasts alone, he’d probably tumble to his death. But he meandered a little too much, and watched on as Mason stole away his riding partner.
So he hung back, lingering and watching Alex celebrate with her brother and father. He couldn’t help noticing that the cheer squad who had seemed intent on letting her know they were here for her, had already taken off. He waited for her to move away from the group, climbing up on one of the horses, before he meandered over, hands in his pocket. β€œThat was certainly dramatic.” He said.
He glanced over at the few remaining campers still hovering about. β€œCouldn’t help noticing your cheer squad didn’t hang around. You know the one-armed one, and that walking six-pack.” Pete’s word might hurt, but it was the truth. They’d up and left, without so much as a β€˜congratulations for surviving your trial for murder’ hug. He motioned to the horse she was sitting on, β€œI hope you weren’t planning on riding solo, β€˜cause I definitely need help in not plummeting to my death.”
With that he swung up behind her, remembering Sloane’s tip about the back being easier, attempting to make himself look more a natural on horses than he was. And failing. β€œI’m not a horse guy,” He muttered by way of explanation.
Once they were in flight, he did lean forward for a moment to whisper in her ear, β€œI am glad you’re returning with your pretty head intact though.”
Eve watched Theo chew over the information, his thought process written all over his face. He really didn’t want to get involved, but he did trust what Eve had told him. Finally he spoke with a smile, β€œI’ll do what I can.”
Beating back a smirk, Eve forced out a relieved grin, and jumped up to wrap her arms around his neck. β€œThankyou!” She settled back into her seat as they both turned to watch the finale of the trial – which ended with a sizzle rather than a bang in case you were wondering.
Eve actually felt bad for Mason as he was forced to watch his dad carted away and his sister’s murderer walk free. She didn’t know what she’d do if anyone killed Pete. Though the resentment that this trial would leave, was ripe for manipulation, a little push here and there, and she was sure she could force this whole situation to blow up. The trail having concluded, Theo turned back to her, his voice kind. Which was a good sign as it meant he trust her story. β€œRemember, I’ll do what I can. Just try to keep yourself out of trouble.”
β€œOh, I swear it. I hate all of this drama and will stay a good ten metres away from all of it from now on.” She said replicating his kind smile. Before he could rise though, she leaned over and landed a quick kiss on his check. β€œThank you so much.” She said, allowing her eye to water like she might cry again. Then he left.
She watched him leave, and her sweet smile dropped from her face. Trinity would absolutely hate it if he tried to get involved. And it would only can the next part of her plan all the more believable. Eve was interrupted from her thoughts as a body settled into the seat next to her. β€œI couldn’t help but notice you have nice tits.”
Seriously, not only was someone trying to pick up at a murder trial that was his opening line? She didn’t turn around, fixing her gaze forward, she hoped he’d get the message. Apparently he didn’t as he spoke again. β€œYou’re a blonde, too, which is even better.”
With a sigh she turned around to face the internet troll come to life. And he made no secret of the inspection her made of her body, apparently he was pretty satisfied with the view. β€œLet me guess? You want to know if the carpet matches the drapes.” Eve responded, disinterest coating her body language and words. He was beefy, coating in an extra layer of muscle. Eve thought him the worst kind of human, one who fought battle with fists and no intelligence.
β€œI am Liam, the- I am Trinity’s half-brother.” A lifetime of watching other people and reading into their mannerisms taught Eve to notice Liam’s hesitation, and she locked it away to ponder on for another time. Though her ears caught on Trinity’s name, and she found a new reason to be interested in him – if only because it would piss Trinity off.
He wouldn’t get anything from Eve through such crude means, but that didn’t mean she had to act disinterested. Replicating his previous behaviour, she made a show of checking him out, running her gaze along the bulk of his muscles. Then with a smirk she leaned in towards him, placing a hand on his upper thigh. When she was close enough she whispered in his ear, β€œI’d call you repulsive, but I wouldn’t want to turn you on.” She squeezed his thigh, before using that hand to push herself out of her seat. She introduced herself as she got up, "I'm Eve. Sister of no one important."
She gotten a few steps away from him and was about to make a comment about him watching her ass, when she remembered the cursed flying horses. Looking back at Liam she decided he was a good an option as any to help her back to earth. β€œIf you want to rub against me on one of those beasts, you better help me up first.” With that she turned and headed toward the waiting horses, approaching the first found, waiting for assistance to come.
With the trial concluded, the daughter of Poseidon felt, well, probably as her father did - in between two really pathetic gods still fighting for this or that. She wrinkled her nose, her darkened eyes veered down toward Alex and then shifted to Hades as he was being banished. Or whatever it is that the gods do, Liv didn't really know. She crossed her arms over her chest; the earbuds in her ears hardly vanquished the conundrum of the trial's aftermath. Soon enough, everyone was departing.
Liv sat there for a little longer. Maybe she was hoping for a showing from her father, much like everyone else's godly parents. Yet, he does not come. Her lips did that thing where they kind of pouted, and then they thinned out with disappointment. Maybe he was also tired of being caught between the plague that is the eternal battle of Zeus and Hades.
For a quiet moment with some somber tune with the timbre of a grown-up celebrity that caters to every teenager's angsty side, she watched as demigods paired up. She couldn't shake this feeling that nothing good will come of this, even with the verdict. How could anyone know what is real? Liv wasn't so sure about everyone else, but the more she thought about it -- her gaze traveling from one god to another, flitting to the demigods one by one. It was a calculatory gaze, similar to that of Liam's, but without the combat expertise.
She looked at the more passive voices; the children of the more peaceful and friendly gods: Cherise, Ethan, Iliana, Heath - and wondered where they might stand.
"You raised some good points in the trial. You should probably just work on execution, might get more respect that way. Are you ready to head out or what?" A much closer voice crawled through her earbuds as the song died down, just during that pause before the next one might chime in. She pulled the both of them out and looked at him pointedly, standing quietly. For the moment she hooked her arm into his but was otherwise very quiet.
They make way to the beastly, white-winged creatures and her arm untangled from Duke's own. She walked to the front, whispering something under her breath. It was enough for the horse's neck to lower so that she could give it a quick pat and some simple instructions. "I need to visit daddy dearest, so I am going to need you to get as close to the ocean as possible. Be careful with the other rider and make sure he doesn't fall off. Hmm?" Of course, speaking to equine creatures is on her list of capabilities, especially since Poseidon practically invented them. She smiles at it, and there was seemingly some acknowledgment of instruction there.
Without further adieu, she hopped on - likely with his assistance and behind him. Only then would she address his earlier comments, leaning in toward him and setting her chin on his shoulder so that her mouth might reach his ear. It wasn't anything other than the Pegasus was so fast, and the wind was incredibly loud - it was otherwise impossible to get a word in without screaming at him. ”It’s not about respect. It's about… being caught up in this millennia-old game that our parents have been playing with each other. It's about not being used. Maybe even about not falling into the same traps. If I were down there, I wouldn't want to be judged because of my godly parent." She pulled away and then gave him a tap on the side, "Hold on tight."
That said, she swung an awkward leg over and edged close to falling off of the horse. She took in a deep breath, and then - just as its hooves skim the ocean’s surface, she dove right in. The execution was flawless, and she hardly made a splash as she cut through the water.
Time to find her father and maybe figure out how to deal with all of this.
"I’d call you repulsive, but I wouldn’t want to turn you on." Oh, but Liam was smart. He is just ill-mannered - thought he could do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. There were no boundaries with him. He was like an Aphrodite child on steroids and with a dash of violence. For a mama's boy, he sure was pretty vile to the fairer sex. So, when she called him β€œrepulsive” in that sly β€˜she didn’t really want to but was thinking it’ manner, he didn’t hold it against her. In fact, he just grinned wide and cocked his head from side to side, as if thinking about that comment jokingly in the recesses of his own distorted cranium.
He leaned in close, likely as soon as she did herself, and let his eyes travel to her own, "I know I am repulsive. It doesn't turn me on, but I'm thinking that you're enjoying the attention. It's okay, though, you can pretend that you're not."
"I'm Eve. Sister of no one important," she informs him while squeezing his thigh like the conniving vixen she probably is. Not that he minded, naturally. She's a woman. He's a man. There wasn't going to be much that she could do to him otherwise. It's a sexist thought, but he wasn't exactly an upstanding gentleman rooting for the efforts of women to shed their physically inferior stereotypes. He wasn't as acutely aware that there are other ways to cause a lot of harm to someone.
Then she stood, and he just sat there. Right as he practically broke his neck from unnatural extension when he observes her rear end, she caught him. "If you want to rub against me on one of those beasts, you better help me up first." With that invitation, he all but jumps out of his seat and is well on his way toward her in a light jog, slowing as he caught him.
Not the invitation to rub on her. That was borderline sexual assault, and he knew better, but the one in which they would actually ride those Pegasus'. Now, those were some scary-ass beasts - diving and swooping in that kind of way that has even a hardass like Liam clenching his buttcheeks. Which they do notice, by the way - the horses. They know when the cheeks clench, and they seem to have taken it as a personal invitation to make the flight even more terrifying on his way to Olympus.
After all, now he has a lady that will ride with him, and he can't be seen clenching his buttcheeks.
After she approached one of the horses, his large hands grab her on either side of the waist and plop her right onto it. As for himself, he just clamors on like a hot mess. The Pegasus dreaded the weight of a man over two-hundred bounds, and with Eve joining him, this horse was going to need a godly chiropractor. He placed himself behind her so that she could be secure - a small glimmer of protective instinct flickering in an otherwise abrasive and surly guy. One of his hands grasp its white mane, the other arm snaking around her waist and ensuring that Eve was properly pressed up against him. Once he felt that all were secure, and his buttcheeks were relaxed, the beast took off.
Within moments they were on the beach, and as he had helped her up, he reaches up to assist her in dismount. Once she is settled onto the ground, he releases and then starts to walk. "What the fuck to demigods do here anyway? I mean, is it all underworld versus Olympus versus ocean, or is there some purpose?" Now that there was a conversation at hand that was not about Eve's body, he maybe looks a little less repugnant. At the same time, he's genuinely curious about the grand purpose of this place. He didn't want to be part of his father's home or his world, and he certainly did not enjoy the thought of being around a bunch of high school drama kids.
Not that he was any better. Truly.
Image She stroked the side of the horse's neck, and before she could leave Mount Olympus, Pete had made his way over to her. β€œThat was certainly dramatic.” He said.
"Trials usually are. I just wish the Gods didn't have to drag everyone, including yourself, to see every gory detail of my messed up head. At least now I know I'm not guilty. I can get my life back on track."
As Pete glanced over at the few remaining campers still hovering about, so did Alex. β€œCouldn’t help noticing your cheer squad didn’t hang around. You know the one-armed one, and that walking six-pack.”
She looked down after hearing those words, fighting the urge to tell him to mind his own business... but he wasn't wrong. Alex did her best to dig for excuses good enough for her to defend them. "They're probably tired. It's been a long day. Everyone just wants to get back home and move on from everything. They'll see me in the morning, so... it's fine." she was lying. It did hurt that they had just both left like that, but there was always tomorrow.
β€œI hope you weren’t planning on riding solo, β€˜cause I definitely need help in not plummeting to my death.” She smiled and held her hand out to him.
She pulled him up, letting go of him the second he was sat closely behind her. By accident, or on purpose... she didn't care. It had been a while since anyone had noticed her other than, 'AJax's Little Sister'.
"Maybe I can teach you how to ride some day."
β€œI’m not a horse guy,”
"Who said anything about horses?" She smirked. Teasing him. He was attractive, but part of her still couldn't trust him until he had proven himself. He was a good distraction to help kick back all the dark crap that had kept her from living. "Ready?" she shuffled back a little, making sure she was close to him. "Hold on." She lightly clucked her tongue, and the horse began to open its wings before it ran towards the cliff edge, diving into the clouds below before it's huge wings shot out to the sides. Gliding through the air.
Her skin tingled gently as Pete leaned forward to whisper in her ear. β€œI am glad you’re returning with your pretty head intact though.”
She turned her body and head to him, locking her eyes on him as she gave him a pearly white smile. "Why's that?" she finally asked. "Would you have missed me?"
Image ~Okay Ajax, I'll ride with you, but I won't be able to talk with you until we get back to camp.~ That was fine by him since he needed to go over his own thoughts anyway about the entire trial. Seeing everything his sister had done due to manipulation, and the feeling of not being able to protect her from it in the first place. He blamed himself, yet again.
~Lia is my nickname. So, after you I guess?~
He could tell she was finding it awkward, or that she was feeling anxious about the entire situation he had invited her into, but she would be ago once he had given her the time to warm up to him.
Ajax motioned his head to the horse with a smile. "Ladies first." he carefully took hold of her waist and hoisted her up onto the horse's back before hopping on behind her, before he took the reins and chuckled as he felt her tense up slightly with his arms either side of her. "Relax. I'm not going to hurt you, or throw you off mid-flight. I promise. That's only for those who start singing annoying songs." he joked, knowing that she wouldn't be able to with being quiet. It wasn't long before they were back at Camp. The horse executed its landing perfectly before he hopped off and helped Iliana down gently. "See, wasn't so bad was it?" he asked, and gave her shoulder a gentle, comforting rub. "I swear I'm not all Mr.Angry."
***
The following day, Ajax woke with the feeling that he hadn't slept that well. The trial still lingering in his head, the feeling of his own girlfriend hating him more than ever, and how everyone was going to be now Alex was free.
There was always going to be tension in the air no matter what, and after yesterday... they needed something normal. Something that could at least allow them to relax for a little while Maybe a beach party like last year? It would be easy to set up. Daniel was the only person, so far, that he knew was enthusiastic about music, or maybe they could set up a cushioned area on the beach, huge fabric screen to watch a horror movie or something like that?
He got out of bed and put on some clean clothes after quickly using the bathroom to wash etc, and headed outside and headed towards the canteen to get some breakfast.
He sat in the far corner by himself, for now, hoping that he wasn't looking unapproachable to those who needed him as the staff announcement came through the speakers. "As soon as you can, head to the staff cabin and vote for the poll that is pinned outside. Movie night and games with drinks and food, or Just a traditional Campfire, music, games, drinks and food." the speakers squeaked slightly as they turned off, and Ajax remained to enjoy his morning cereal of cornflakes. He had voted for the movie night.
