D E C O R U S

h e i g h t x // x5' 8"

w e i g h t x // x135 lbs

h a i r x // xAndy has long brunette hair that in the sunlight shows slight traces of crimson. It has a natural wave that only gets more curly when wet.

e y e s x // xgreen

o d d i t i e s x // xShe has no tattoos and only the standard ear piercings. Andy intends at some point to get a tattoo, but currently she has nothing more than freckles and a few scars.

a p p e a r a n c e x // xAndy would not be said to be some great beauty or anything like that, but more of the girl next door type of attraction. A natural beauty, she isn't on who enjoys wearing makeup or trying to overly impress others. Her dark brunette hair perfectly accents her pale porcelain skin and heart shaped face. She has a slender body with slight curves, but most predominantly she is fairly muscular. Not to the point of looking like a meat head, but enough to where its obvious she's in shape and constantly practicing her combat.

A textbook tomboy, Andy doesn't wear the girliest of clothes. That's not to say she doesn't wear a dress on occasion or let her hair down. But, heels are definitely out of her wheel house. For one, she can't walk in them and then she also doesn't quite understand the purpose of them. She prefers logical clothing that have a function, if only comfort. But more often then not she is dressed for training, running or anything else. At camp she feels the need to be prepared for whatever.

P E R S O N A L I T A T E
xxxxxxxxxxxxā€¢ x passionate x ā€¢ x brave x ā€¢ x playful x ā€¢ x stubborn x ā€¢

Anyone who knows Andy, knows how passionate she is. She cares and feels everything so deeply, someone who feels everything to the strongest degree. She will stand by what she believes in without falter and die for it. This overflows into many aspects of who she is. Sheā€™ll defend those she cares about and stand beside them no matter what. She does everything with conviction and does not falter from anything she stands behind. This also means she fights for those she cares about to either save their lives, save them from themselves or help see themselves through her own eyes.

Andy is not one who is scared of death or pain. Sheā€™s no stranger to pain and death maybe final but if its for a cause she doesnā€™t bat an eyelash. Sheā€™ll be on the front line of a battle, running head first against the army. Sheā€™ll protect and injured friend using herself as a shield. Sheā€™d sacrifice herself or take someoneā€™s place if that means giving someone she cares about freedom. That does not mean she isnā€™t scared, but she is able to look past it to do what needs to be done, that no one else will do.

Being a daughter of Hecate, Andy canā€™t help but have a slight goofy or playful manner. It may not be to the level of her late brotherā€™s, but she still enjoys making people smile or laugh. She is not the type to prank others like her brother used to, but when sheā€™s in a good mood she still likes to do little jokes here and there. This also makes her very light hearted and friendly to most people. Itā€™s not often that there is someone out there who strongly dislikes her. They may not approve of her choice of friends, but rarely do they have a direct issue with her.

But one of the most well known things about Andy is that she is stubborn. It is almost impossible to make her do something she doesnā€™t want to do. With her selflessness and bravery this can make people worry about her exponentially because sheā€™ll plan something rash or dangerous and cannot be talked down. Sheā€™ll fight till her death, argue until someone sees her side, or stand by someone that everyone else thinks is long past saving.

H I S T O R I A R U M

Andy was born in Moscow, Russia on an American army base. It was hard enough growing up with a Marine Lieutenant for a father, never stationary for more than 9 months. But it just made things worse that her mother disappeared shortly after her birth. Andy grew up an army brat, which isn't a rare thing but all the other children thought she was strange and stayed away from her. Andy's father told her that her mother wasn't human and didn't belong on our earth, so of course when she was young she believed it. And when the other children asked her why her mother wasn't around, that was her answer. So it was easy for the other kids to think she was crazy between the tales she shared of her mother and her abundance of "imaginary friends."

As she grew older Andy really started to believe she was crazy, and her father made her feel like he was egging on her insanity. He would tell her someday she would save the world, that she was more powerful than any mortal... Mortal? He made her sound like she wasn't human. Maybe she wasn't, her only friends were people that no one else could see, and when she was alone... she could do things... things that weren't normal. When she was 16, Andy was more in her head than in reality, and her father finally began to agree that she wasn't stable, and had started debated about sending her away to an institution until she was better.

One night when Andy went to visit her father she over heard him having a conversation in his cabin on a aircraft carrier. She waited outside the door, ear pressed up against the cold metal. It wasn't for nearly an hour until her father said, "You gave birth to her, but you haven't been a mother to her!" Upon hearing that Andy pushed aside any amount of decency and barged through the door to find inside an ethereal woman. She was gorgeous, eyes and hair like... like Andy's, her body emitting a feint light and she wore... a toga? She thought it all was a joke, or maybe her insanity, she couldn't tell anymore. But after a very long night of talking with her "mother" she realized she wasn't crazy at all, but to the eyes of any regular person she'd seem completely delusional. She didn't want to believe it all. It would be easier to accept that she was crazy and her mother abandoned her, but that wasn't the truth no matter how much she wanted to fight it.

Ever since that night her mother, Hecate, promised to come visit or check up on her as much as she possible but... there was a stipulation to reappearance in Andy's life. She was sent to Camp Athens to live among other people like her, who were also children of a God. But Andy still resented her motherā€™s absence in her life up until that point. No matter though, her first year at camp she saw her motherā€¦ twice maybe three times in total.

Over her first year at camp so much happened to Andy, from helping take down a minotaur, being trapped and tortured in the Underworld and fighting along side the other campers in a battle for their life. But it was the after math of the battle that finally made her want nothing to do with her mother ever again. In the heat of the war, Andy entrusted her wounded and dying brother to Hecateā€¦ Only to be told he died in her care. Devastated, angry and heart broken she wants absolutely nothing to do with her mother. And any time sheā€™s tried to reconnect with Andy since that day, she doesnā€™t give Hecate the time of day.

Alex felt so much better the second she got herself to start working out again. Keeping in shape and feeling healthy had always been one of the important parts of Alex's life. Second important part of her life... friends, and family. They remained loyal to her, despite the constant gossip about last year. The new campers had only heard everything by hearsay, but not from Alex herself. They could have come and asked why she had killed Jennova, but no one had dared to even talk to her. She had never been a bad person, but a young girl who had made a terrible, emotional mistake. Why should her mother's murderer be free to walk around? and why wasn't she punished herself? Alex knew she deserved to be, but the Gods had yet again remained silent. Alex knew the way she handled justice was wrong. Jennova should have stood trial before the Gods, but it was too late, she was gone... just like the rest who had given their own lives to save the others.

"You got to engage your core," Duke said, and automatically held his as a demonstration. "Don't pull up on momentum, pull up with these." Alex fell off the branch the second she realized who was actually talking to her, then quickly got up from the ground. Her cheeks felt like they were burning.

"Duke, I..." she got lost for words as she took in the sight of him. How could anyone as handsome as him like her? to Alex, she felt like an average, half Greek female with nothing special to offer. Desperately, she wanted to tell him right there and then about how she felt, but couldn't. The words wouldn't come out. She quickly began to talk about the party instead. "Morning. I'll definitely work on that. Thanks. How've you been? I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you at the party. You looked like you were enjoying yourself, though. Some hot chicks this year, huh?" she pretended to be cool about it while she elbowed him gently on his side, and smiled. Hopefully, he didn't find them hot, but she knew he had his own mind, and he wasn't hers. Duke had every right to think and feel whatever he wanted. Her heart sunk, her stomach churned. The thought of him being with someone else made her feel bad.

Andy's words always made him realize how vulnerable he was around her. The second he thought she'd leave, it felt like his entire world was crashing down on him, suffocating him. Before he fell in love with her, he had almost closed himself off from life itself. He had been afraid to get close to anyone, but Andy had helped him out of that dark corner. She had shown him that he wouldn't make the same mistake again since Andy didn't have it in her to hurt him like his ex did. "We'll get through this, I promise. Everything will work out the way its supposed to, but before it gets better, sadly, we have to go through the worst. I'm here for you, and you don't have to bare any of the pain alone. You don't have to be strong in front of me. I'll be strong for the both of us." he took her hands in his and helped her up to her feet. He didn't let go as he leaned in towards her, his lips softly pressing up against hers for a second or so before he pulled back a little, his lips inches away as he spoke quietly. "I will be the one to fix all of this." he promised. He had a plan, but he knew many of the campers wouldn't like it.

Especially Andy, Duke, and his little sister.

They'd want to stop him but at this point... Ajax had made up his mind.

It was a selfish choice, but he felt as though it was the only option left. Hopefully, his plan would be enough.

Tomorrow he would head out of camp, alone, and visit the Moirai again. Last year didn't go well with them, but hopefully, this year would be different. He didn't want a favour from them... this time around was much different.

They controlled the mother thread of life of every mortal from birth, to death. They were independent, at the helm of necessity, directed fate. Every day they watched the fate assigned to every being by eternal laws, watching as fate would take its course without obstruction. The Gods and men had to submit to them, although Zeus's relationship with them is a matter of debate. He had been known to be the only one who can command them since Morai fear him.

"We'll get through this, I promise. Everything will work out the way its supposed to, but before it gets better, sadly, we have to go through the worst. I'm here for you, and you don't have to bare any of the pain alone. You don't have to be strong in front of me. I'll be strong for the both of us."

Andy looked towards him as a silent tear rolled down her cheek. It wasn't necessarily what she wanted to hear, but the plain simple truth. She sniffled as Ajax took her hands and helped her to her feet. But he didn't release her hands, instead leaning in towards her. His lips brushed hers for a brief moment. Andy kissed him back tenderly, but she was thankful he didn't go for another. Regardless of how good it felt to get things off her chest, it was still raw and takes time.

Ajax remained closer to her, lips maybe an inch from hers as he spoke. "I will be the one to fix all of this."

Andy's brows furrowed as she slipped her hands from his. She didn't like the sounds of that. "What are you talking about? You can't reverse time and change the past, Ajax."

For some reason it sounded like Ajax was trying to fix more than her own problems. But what else could there be to fix? The past cannot be unwritten. Daniel is dead. Jennova is dead. Wes has no arm. And no matter how much Andy tries to forget, she was tortured in the Underworld. That's just how it was. None of it could be fixed. She studied his face, but whatever he was thinking, he was certain in it. Sometimes in all her love for him, she hated how everything seemed an ultimatum with him. The world wasn't ending, it was just the rough aftermath. There was nothing more to do besides manage.

Andy sighed, glancing down slightly. "Please, just don't do something stupid."

Trinity pretended to be offended when Wes realized that she came to him out of pure competition. She wasn't fooling him when she tried to look surprised, and quickly chuckled. ā€œExcuse you, Mr. Smacktalk.ā€ He smiled waiting for her to start the contest. ā€œOn three. One." Her grip on his hand tighten as she prepared. Trin's game face was on. But, Wes couldn't help but just smile. "Two. Three."

Wes didn't hold back, but didn't put all his strength into it at the first moment. He wanted to gauge her own strength, and, of course, she was no weakling. A slight grin graced his lips as he then put his all into it. Her own grasp even wavered for a minute. Wes was glad he wasn't all talk. But, using a single arm for almost a year definitely would put some muscle into it.

He wondered if he should let her win. Trin seemed more like a deer in the headlights then intrigued by the idea of a date with him. After all, she didn't owe him anything. They shared a kiss... That was hardly binding. Sure, it made Wes realize all he wanted... All he'd ever want was her. But love isn't a one way street and he knew that. But, just as he thought about letting up, Wes felt a wave of energy.

Wes' smirk faded slightly as he stared at their hands. He was winning? He adjusted his grasp on her hand, and put forth another push. Then it happened... Trinity's hand fell back and hit the table. His eyes widened as he just stared as his hand continued to hold hers down against the table. When he finally looked up, he was even more surprised to see that she was smiling. He half expected her to get pissed and storm out of his cabin, demand a rematch or begrudgingly agree to the date. But she didn't. She just smiled. ā€œWell, how about that?ā€

His grasp on her hand slowly lessened, but Wes didn't move his hand. Instead, just for a brief moment he let his thumb brush the top of her hand. "Yeah," he chuckled, smiling towards her. "Look at that." He didn't feel the need to gloat, nor did he want to.

ā€œI hope you know what you're doing,ā€ she whispered toward him.

"I do," he replied softly while holding her gaze. Wes knew her, if she wanted him to or not. And he liked what he knew. He just hoped that this date wouldn't disappoint. If she was miserable... He wouldn't stop her from leaving. All he wanted was her happiness, even if, in the end, that wasn't with him.

Wes let her hand slip from under his as she then crossed her arms. Almost like flipping a switch, the vulnerable side of Trinity closed up and the sarcastic side was back out. ā€œSo are you walking with me to get some brekky or do I have to pretend I'm sane and sit with normal people?ā€

"What in the hell is a brekky?" Wes asked, then his brows furrowed as if he finally understood the weird slang. "Yeah, yeah. Just let me change real quick." He pushed off the table as he stood up, swinging his leg from over the chair and started toward his room. It didn't take him too terribly long to get into a pair of jeans, and put on some sneakers. He grabbed the first shirt he could find. Luckily it was already unbuttoned so half of the battle was over.

Wes walked out of his room, his left hand slowly and sometimes unsuccessfully trying to button his shirt. He could do it, it just took awhile. He would have Trinity here starving if they sat around waiting for him to finish fastening his shirt. So, he could afford to swallow his pride a bit since he won the arm wrestle. "Do you mind helping me?... I can do it, but you might be waiting for awhile." He laughed weakly as his thumb and index figure tugged at the buttons of his shirt.

Sloane cupped her hands around her coffee mug, sipping from it occasionally. From Kalani's nod, she could only assume the girl was about as thrilled for training as she was. After all, Ani was an Aphrodite kid. They aren't generally known to be fierce warriors or anything. Not that they could help it. Her brother Wes looked like he could kick ass, but Sloane knew better than that... She heard the stories.

"I get that," Ani replied. "What's a child of Aphrodite supposed to do?" She laughed, motioning to her small muscles. "Seems like we're in the same boat."

Sloane contemplated not replying, but she sighed, trying to be as social as someone like her could manage. "Wes has seen battle, hasn't he?" She glanced over at Kalani slightly. "He might have pointers." It was a dumb comment, but it was all that she could think of. Honestly, Sloane could put money on the fact that both of them would probably be some of the first people to get their asses handed to them.

"Or, at least tell you how to not lose an arm," Sloane added with a slight chuckle.

But, what little part of Sloane's shell had opened up, quickly snapped shut when another person joined them. "Morning, Ani!" She looked up seeing the other Annie coming straight for the two of them. Then she looked straight at Sloane. "Hello. Sloane, isn't it?"

"Yes," she replied curtly. Sloane was never a fan of those kinds of greetings. If someone wasn't sure about her name or if they had met previously but forgot, then they could simply introduce themselves again. It was more polite, and was easier than asking someone to verify who they were. She didn't say anything else, simply sipping from her coffee quietly.

"We were just talking about today's training. Neither of us are particularly looking forward to it." Kalani looked towards her briefly, and Sloane shared her glance for a moment. "You know I'm a lover not a fighter."

After what seemed like a polite enough time to sit around, Sloane finished what was left of her coffee. She then put her bag over her shoulder, and picked up her old mug in her other hand. She moved to her feet, and glanced over at Kalani. "Thanks again for the coffee... See you at training." Sloane nodded her head towards both of them, and then headed back to the main hall before they tried to stop her.

Sloane made her way inside, avoiding the campers that were there. She took the coffee mugs to the kitchen, setting them in the sink. She would have washed them but honestly had no idea where anything belonged, so hopefully that was good enough. As she exited the kitchen and headed toward the door, she noticed Dom sitting by himself. Sloane had half a mind to walk over him and take a seat, but then she saw that he was reading the book she lent him. She smiled slightly to herself. When their gazes met briefly, she raised to hand in a slight wave, then exited the main hall.

Mason laughed dryly at Sylas' comments. "I'm touched, but a few things, if I were to kill anybody on this camp or that even belonged to camp, I'd have a bounty on me. The whole anti-Hades mob would finally get an excuse to swarm. Second, thanks for your input and playing match maker but Andy's not my type and I'm not hers. She wants white knight, gallant hero, picture perfect. I want spunk, endurance, someone I can bring home to Hades."

Sylas remained quiet, picking at his food and listening to Mason. Of course, he was apprehensive of Sylas, who wouldn't be. Plus, it probably sounded like he was skirting around something or full of fake sympathies. Either way, Sylas wasn't the type to just throw in the towel that easily. Some people need a slow approach, and some, just need you to come out and say it. Black and white.

"And hey, if anyone decapitated Sloane when she was defenseless, I'd be on your side too, dude."

Sylas laughed weakly, grabbing his juice and drinking from it. Mason seemed like the type of person where Sylas didn't have to wear this false facade of an average person around. So, almost like flipping a switch, he leaned forward resting on his elbows. His entire expression changed from some who was trying to make a friend, to the cold asshole he was. If a Hades kid couldn't appreciate it, then who could?

"But doesn't Hecate live in the Underworld?" Sylas quirked a brow toward Mason, while resting his palms on the table. "Andy doesn't know what she wants. It's all a matter of... Simple persuasion. And well, if the Valises are out of the way?" He shrugged his shoulders slightly, allowing Mason to connect the dots how he saw fit. Of course he knew that if the Hades boy killed the beloved Ajax, that would hurt any chances he had with the left over baggage. But, there were always other paths to take.

"There are more ways than one to accomplish what you want." Sylas' voice was low but full of intent. No, Mason didn't have the ability to get people to do what he wanted. Working alone, of course he'd get his hands dirty. But, Sylas had no problem dirtying his hands... Or better yet, making others do his dirty business for him. "There can't be a bounty on your head if you're not the one doing the killing."

Sylas grabbed a grape, popping it in his mouth, allowing Mason a moment to think. "Let me put it plainly." He held Mason's gaze as he spoke his next words only loud enough for him to hear. "Do you want help with the Valises, or not?" he asked, sliding his bowl of fruit towards Mason almost like a peace offering.

He knew he couldn't change the past, but he could do something about all their futures. They were only in danger because his sister and himself were still breathing. "I won't do anything reckless." he promised. Not too reckless anyway. "You go on ahead, I'm going to go for a walk." he kissed her head. "I'll come find you when I'm back."

With that, he grabbed his shoes and began to place them on. He wouldn't be gone too long since his duties as Camp leader would be needed for the game. Ajax was actually looking forward to it. He had no idea who would be on which team, but it didn't matter. Would still be a good game. His only concern was Alex. If she was going to be on the opposite team, then hopefully someone would look out for her where he couldn't.

Ajax sighed before he headed out. It's only a game anyway, so what could possibly go wrong? at Camp Athens, anythings possible, but since they fought off the Titan army last year, everything else would surely suffer in comparison.

He made his way towards the edge of camp once he knew he was in the clear from anyone who might see him crossing the magical barrier. Once he took the right directions to the cave where the Morai had taken their home, he made his way inside. It was darker than he remembered, but it didn't remain pitch black for long. The torches burst into flames as the three fates stood together, snipping at the silver threads of those whose lives had come to an end in the mortal world.

"You seek us out for the second time, Son of Zeus."
"Yes, but I do not come to fix the past. I want to see the future." he had changed his mind from his original plan.
"Not possible. We're not seers. Tell us the real reason you came."
"You already know why."
"We want to hear it from your own lips" their voices hissed like snakes.

Ajax closed his eyes as he pictured those he cared about. Just as he was about to answer, A crack of fire and smoke appeared in the cave, causing Ajax to open his eyes quickly. "Such a foolish, ungrateful child. You're the spitting image of your father." Hades scoffed. Hades knew Ajax wasn't on good terms with Zeus. For a long time, the son of Zeus has resented him for leaving their mother to look after a young infant by herself with the help of Ajax more than he should at his age. After their grandma passed from natural causes, their mother fell into depression, leaving Ajax to practically raise his sister by himself until their mother met their stepfather. "Given life, given loved ones, given fame and glory... yet you still want to put yourself in harm's way for those who might not even do the same for you." Ajax watched him but never said a single word. He knew Hades was trying to get a rise out of him, so holding back his own words was more than a challenge. Like their father, Ajax had a short temper. Especially when it was someone else getting personal about his life/family. "Morai, do as he wishes, or I will kill you." he glared in their direction, but they weren't going to twist fate for anyone. Not even for a God/Titan.

"Kill us, and you will have nothing to rule. For when we die, so does the entire universe." Hades would have caught on fire with how angry he looked, but the Morai had a better idea. "We have a better offer. Allow him to live, and we shall make him mortal. He will no longer be a threat to the throne. You cannot harm anyone he's close to, or the deal will be broken."

"He will never let the ones I love go. He won't stop until he's killed all of us."
"Even better... banish Zeus to Earth. Make him and his son mortal, and I will agree to the deal."
"No!" Ajax shouted.
"Deal." they quickly agreed with Hades as they did not want the rightful kings to die. Hades smirked as Ajax began to keel over in pain. All of the Morai were holding their hands up to him. Chanting. Hades loved the feeling of winning. This was it, this was his chance to rule Mount Olympus.

ā€œNo, yeah, sure,ā€ Trinity replied as she agreed to help Wes with his buttons. He glanced down at her slightly, noticing a little blush on her cheeks. He didn't smile, although he wanted to. Instead remaining quiet, and not moving to make it easier for her. Occasionally as she worked, her fingers would brush his skin. Wes thought nothing of it until she mumbled a quiet, ā€œSorry.ā€ His smile met hers when she finished. ā€œGood to go.ā€

"Thank you." Wes raised his hand, tugging at his shirt slightly to readjust it against his torso. He then took the loose right sleeve and tucked it inside the shirt so it didn't just flop around carelessly. The walk towards the main hall was quiet, aside from the sound of twigs and leaves crunching under foot. Wes was sure everything was probably overwhelming Trinity, and he didn't want to make it worse, so decided to opt for silence on his end as well.

Wes looked around at the other campers who slowly migrated towards the hall, noticing his sister sitting under a tree with another one of the newbies. She smiled and waved toward himself and Trinity. He raised his own hand to return the wave. Then his attention promptly returned to his present company as she finally spoke up. ā€œShe's lovely, your sister. You two seem to connect really easily. I mean it makes sense, you're both so...loving I guess.ā€

He smiled back toward Trin with a chuckle. "Right, an Aphrodite kid loving? Who knew?"

ā€œYou must be excited to have another person to bug,ā€ she added with a bump against his shoulder. Wes watched her as she spun around, walking backwards but still facing him. ā€œUuh, you should also probably teach me to be more socially pleasant so I can get a head start. You know, get the family to start liking me and approve of me in the early stages.ā€ She winked with a chuckle.

Wes quirked a brow slightly at the comment. He hooked his thumb in a belt loop of his jeans, studying her slightly with curiosity. "You go from a deer in headlights at the thought of an official date... To wanting me to prep you to meet my family?" He couldn't fight the smirk that crept across his face while he nudged her shoulder playfully with his own. "And for the record," he added, resting his elbow on her shoulder. "My family only consists of Kalani and my father. Ani loves everyone... And my father? Well, he hates me, so he'd probably like you." Wes chuckled softly.

Wes stopped in place when Trin grabbed a hold of his arm. His brows raised, looking at her curiously. ā€œCan you compel me? Like fill me so much devotion that I'd do anything?ā€

He cleared his throat, surprised by the question. "I mean... Well, yeah I could, butā€”"

ā€œDo it. Turn me into a teddy bear. Make me hug someone.ā€ Wes parted his lips to interject but Trin was on a roll, so he let her finish. ā€œCome on Ken Doll, make me do something un-Trinity.ā€ She then began to repeatedly poke him to egg him on and do it.

Wes stared at her poking finger with furrowed brows. "It doesn't quite work like that." He laughed and quickly grabbed her finger before she can poke him again. He doesn't release his grasp on it as he continues. "I can't make you do anything. I can only give you a strong sense of love, devotion or obsession... Then anything beyond that is whatever your twisted little psyche decides."

He wasn't necessarily saying no, he wouldn't do it. But, Wes wanted Trinity to understand the full gravity of what she was asking. No one likes their mind or emotions being meddled with. It'd make her feel like a puppet to something beyond her control. "Plus, if people can't accept you for who you are, then they obviously don't deserve you as a friend. Because I think you're perfect the way you are." With that, he shrugged his shoulders in a matter of fact way. He released her finger as he looked down at her. "But, if you really want me to do it... I will. But, you can't be mad at me if you don't like it or do something... Well, undesired."

Sloane hesitated for a moment in the doorway of the main hall. She was glad Dom was reading her book. She didn't know if it was out of obligation or general curiosity, but it was still nice to see. No one ever took interest in similar things to her. But... She did kind of practically shoved the book at him. Sloane had half of a mind to turn around and tell him that. That he didn't have to read her book if he didn't want to. Then Raven sat with him, and her mind changed. She could handle one on one interactions but once groups got bigger, she got more uncomfortable.

She scanned the hall until she was met by a piercing gaze from a far off table. Her brother gave her a mischievous smirk, no doubt in part to his current company. But also behind a somewhat innocent grin was more... A warning. He knew who she was looking at, and she could imagine his words ringing in her ears. You have a job here and that isn't to make friends. Sloane tensed. After a moment, her gaze briefly darted towards Dom once more before she inhaled sharply and ducked out of the hall.

Sloane made sure to walk in a different direction than the way she entered to avoid running into Kalani and Annie again. Once she was down at the far end of the field, her pace slowed as she came to the base of a large tree. Without a moment's hesitation, she climbed up into it, stopping on a thick branch. Sloane sighed, trying to relax in her solitude. She leaned her back against the trunk of the tree, her right leg dangling over the side of the branch, while her left was bent and brought towards her chest.

Up that high, most campers would walk right past her without noticing her there. Sloane liked that. It was easier to avoid doing whatever her brother or mother wanted her to do if she didn't allow people to get close to her. Unlike Sylas, who tried his best to mold to the camps standards, she preferred to appear like what most people assumed of an Eris child. It was her own repellent... Well, for most people aside from Kalani, who can't help it based on her parentage, and Dom. Which, Sloane couldn't put a finger on it as to why he doesn't seem put off by her.

With a soft sigh, Sloane reached in her bag and pulled out her leather bound journal. Writing seemed to be her only solace. She didn't have the luxury of talking to anyone about how she felt. She couldn't even really do it in her journals because Sylas would go through her things on a regular basis and read them. But, out of all the things her brother was, he was dense and poetry was greek to him. It was her only way to get out what she was feeling without writing it out in black and white. Sloane let her pen glide effortlessly along the page as the soft breeze blew loose raven hairs across her face. It was peaceful, if even for a moment.

Mason smiled and took one of the offered grapes. Check one for Sylas. "That's all you had to say." Sure, Sylas could have strolled on over, plopped a squat and been like 'hey, wanna partner?' But, he had more tact than that. Also, it'd probably seem less sincere and more like a joke just tossed on the table like that. There was a method to everything he did, even if it wasn't apparent to others.

"I could use the help. But with respect, I would prefer my..." Mason looked him over. "murder pal? to be someone who, at the least, I know isn't going to stab me in the back the first sign of trouble. No offence to your gifts."

Sylas shrugged his shoulders while pursing his lips. Sound thought, he was sure it probably crossed a lot of people's minds. It was nothing new. "No offense taken. But with similar respect, the same could be said of a Hades child." He didn't skirt around the apprehensions like Mason did. He knew it had to do with him being an Eris child, and it didn't bother him. "But, you can rest assured when I give someone my word, I follow through," he added, taking a grape and popping it into his mouth. "And I don't scare easily. I'm not frightened of a little bit of lightening."

What Mason might not know is that Sylas isn't all talk. Yes, he can induce mass chaos on many levels. The easiest being making others just begin fighting each other for no apparent reason. It's natural to assume Eris kids would be... Well, pussies. Once they have to get their own hands dirty, they don't know how to wield a sword or defend themselves. But, Sylas had the best education money could buy, with extensive classes in fencing. He could fuck up a Valis's day without a single drop of his abilities. He'd let Mason discover that for himself during training.

"I'm curious to hear your plan of action if you even have one. Or should I just trust you?" Mason asked. "Also, does this make us friends now?"

Sylas watched Mason toss the grape in the air and catch it in his mouth. He chuckled. "I think allies would be a more appropriate term. Friends aren't really in my wheel house." That wasn't to say a friendship wouldn't follow, but Sylas didn't have friends. A lot of that due to the simple fact that he was... Basically a high functioning sociopath. But, that's a technicality. "And no, I don't expect you to just trust me. Trust and friendship is earned... Not freely given."

He tapped his fingers against the surface of the table for a long moment, before finally speaking up again. "Well, I mean we could simply just corner one of them... Stab stab. Job's done," Sylas said dryly, obvious that it wasn't the best idea for a plan. "That lacks... Creativity, for lack of a better term. Sure, death is the end goal but we don't want it to be swift and merciful. It's more satisfying destroying someone, breaking them down and ruining them, root and stem." He paused for a moment to gauge Mason's expression before continuing. "I don't know how devious you are... But, I liked the idea of turning everyone they love against them."

Death is simple. It's quick, to the point and over in a blink. But, there is an art when it comes to truly ruining someone. You take everything away from them, their power, position and those they love. Leave them alone in the world with no one but themselves and the thoughts of their own transgressions. Then and only then, is it the time to kill them. Killing someone when they have everything makes them a martyr, but killing them when they are nothing? It's like erasing them from ever existing in the first place. You're not seen as a monster... But a hero. It's all about perspective.

"I won't do anything reckless," Ajax promised. But, something deep in Andy didn't believe him. She didn't say anything though, instead simply nodding her head. "You go on ahead, I'm going to go for a walk." He placed a kiss upon her head. "I'll come find you when I'm back."

Andy sighed. "Alright." That was all she could really bring herself to say before she turned and left Ajax's cabin. She walked as swiftly as she could through the woods, hoping not to cross paths with anyone. She wasn't in the mood for the rumors or whispers about her making the 'walk of shame' back to her cabin after spending the night with Ajax. Luckily for her, it seemed most of the campers were already up and not lingering around their cabins, so she made it back without any incident.

She let out a sigh of relief when she closed the door to her cabin, throwing her things on her bed. Andy trudged over to her bathroom, stopping before the sink. She looked up at her reflection, groaning at the sight of herself. Last night's mascara left trails down her cheeks. Her eyes were still blood shot and puffy. Then there was her hair... Andy gripped the porcelain sink, taking a deep breath. After gathering herself, she stripped down and got in the shower needing to wash the past day off of her. Of course, the water could only wash away the dirt, not her own racing thoughts.

Andy wasted no time once she was out of the shower. She got dressed quickly, and left her wet, curly hair free so that it could air dry. Then, like she had been for nearly a year now, Andy pushed all her struggles, worries and pains to the back of her mind. The moment she stepped out of the door, it was like nothing was wrong with her. She had gotten good at it over the past months. It was only a select handful of people that Andy let see what was really going on with her, but the new campers didn't need to know. She still had to be strong for camp, for her friends... And herself.

She made her way toward the main hall. Andy missed out on breakfast at Ajax's so her stomach was growling something fierce. When she reached the open field, she came up behind Wes and Trinity. They seemed extra smiley that day, which helped lighten Andy's own mood. Instead of interrupting them, she flashed them both a smile and a wave as she moved past them, beelining for the hall. Once inside, she grabbed herself a bowl of cereal and banana. Turning around, Andy scanned the room trying to decide where to sit. She had half a mind to sit with Mason, but seeing him with another camper, she simply smiled. It was nice seeing him make new friends. So instead, she opted to sit at an empty table and dig into her food.

Kalani offered a wave and Trinity twiddled her fingers in response. See, exhibit a. She was the perfect delightful little vegemite.

"You go from a deer in headlights at the thought of an official date... To wanting me to prep you to meet my family?"

She cringed at herself. ā€œWas it that obvious?ā€ She waved it off dismissively regardless. Her deer in headlights moment had faded. Hopefully.

"And for the record, my family only consists of Kalani and my father. Ani loves everyone... And my father? Well, he hates me, so he'd probably like you." Wes chuckled softly while Trinity's head cocked to the side curiously but still smiled. That didn't necessarily sound like a good thing since Wes had to live with him. Or certainly endure him in some form or the other.

ā€œAnd your mum,ā€ she said when there was no add on of Aphrodite. Trinity didn't know what part she played in Wesley's life but it still took two to tango and the Goddess was family.

Trinity awaited hisā€¦wellā€¦his command in a very real sense. "It doesn't quite work like that. I can't make you do anything. I can only give you a strong sense of love, devotion or obsession... Then anything beyond that is whatever your twisted little psyche decides."

ā€œLearn something new,ā€ Trinity noted, half-impressed and amused with her finger trapped in his hand. But his powers and love and whatnot were very much his domain so she couldn't exactly argue or prompt for it to work in a certain way.

"Plus, if people can't accept you for who you are, then they obviously don't deserve you as a friend. Because I think you're perfect the way you are." Ah, he said the p word. She should have figured he'd go for the just be yourself basis speech and it was hard for her to stop from rolling her eyes even as her head and heart soared. "But, if you really want me to do it... I will. But, you can't be mad at me if you don't like it or do something... Well, undesired."

ā€œHave you tried it?ā€ She quirked up a challenging brow. But she could hear his response to that already. "No, it won't work,"or, "yes, it didn't end well" which she'd then feel bad for. ā€œFine, fine. I get it. The power of passion is dangerous.ā€ Trinity stalked towards the hall. ā€œHow would the primitive daughter to the god of war possibly be able to cope with lust?ā€ she ranted to herself through the kitchen and begrudgingly poured herself some cocoa puffs and milk in a bowl. Though it was for dramatic flare, Trinity couldn't help to infer some layer underneath, that he meant she particularly couldn't handle, love, devotion and obsession. Even when logic argued it applied to everyone.

ā€œBut you can point love and desire in a direction?ā€ she said returning to open conversation with Wes. ā€œThat's how you made the giant chase those stonemen last year. So what if you...ā€ It took one look at his right stump and she clamped her lips shut. Whatever the case, Wes only had control to an extent otherwise he woudn't have let that happen to his limb. And he preferred not to do it. Trinity sighed out then pressed her tongue to her cheek. Not because of Wes's decision and information but because she was exasperated with herself.

Perfect my ass. One day maybe she'd learn the art of shutting up. Trin then scanned the crowd and who to sit with. Andy was the first that popped out but Ajax would likely swoop in and bring a grin about her face. She felt very out of place with the lovebirds. Theo was there but could be counted as busy. Then there was Elias.

Trinity's body was already sinking slowly into the seat across from Andy, however. ā€œHey.ā€ She smiled and shuffled over assuring plenty of room for Wes. ā€œWhere's company?ā€ Trinity nodded to the vacant space next to Andy, no doubt in reference to golden boy.

"A magician never reveals his secrets, but if I might add the peachiness definitely makes it a bit easier". She chuckled. No doubt. Probably too easy. "If you'd like to see it in action however, I'd be more than happy to have you fetch me a glass of water." Her eyes widened and smile broke but before she could open her mouth to retort he laughed. "I'm just kidding, I've had enough fun this morning already".

She shook her head to herself with a grin. ā€œYou got me.ā€

To the feels of the party, he replied, "As much as I could. The damn thing ended before all the real fun would start. I guess I was a little let down, I expected a demigod party to be more exciting than the ones the frat boys throw on back home. Tell me, have you ever seen a nineteen year old boy take ten shots of vodka in a row, recite the Gettysburg address, and then jump through a window? It's more exciting than you think."

Harley laughed again, the picture he painted playing quite vividly in her head. She could imagine its entertainment ā€œNo doubt.ā€

"What about you? Everything you've ever hoped?"

ā€œOh, it's all a dream come true.ā€ She rolled her eyes like the answer was obvious then gave a smirk of her own. ā€œWell you pretty much said it. I seized what opportunities I could to pep up the night. It died premature. It was good for its drinks and a few snippets of entertainment then....poof. Gone. Party disbanded. But, I'm optimistic and hopeful for round two done right and to top any frat boy party experience.ā€ Then she leaned forward, looking around to check they were in the clear as the next secret words of wisdom departed from her lips, ā€œAlso, just generally, if another game of spin the bottle occurs, you might want to be the spokesman to suggest not kissing like its kindergarten.ā€ Harley beamed. Not that she had seen every kiss shared in the circle but from what she saw and due to the lack of commentary and commotion, she guessed it was pretty....G rated. Which was nice and sweet but for entertainment/party purposes it probably needed to offer a little more flare.

ā€œOh, not a stalker by the way,ā€ she added with a quick throw up of her hands in surrender. ā€œJust observant,ā€ she said, the same time as her fingers touched her shoulders.

Harley took a bite of her toast finally, too caught up in story time to pay her breakfast the attention it deserved. ā€œYou heard the latest gossip on camp?ā€ she inquired behind her hand. Harley stretched out a pause in case her company had some different and more juicy gossip to provide. ā€œCapture the flag is happening today.ā€ She waggled her brows. For the likes of Harley, there was nothing more invigorating than a competitive little game. For others it was probably something groan worthy. Particularly after a night of drinking. ā€œI'm sure camp's version of capture the flag will exceed any expectation.ā€

Atticus walked her to the hall and led them to a vacant table. "So, what would my dear sister like to eat this morning?" Atticus offered.

Evelyn smirked figuring this was his version of redemption. ā€œI wonā€™t be forgiving you so easily,ā€ she teased, ā€œbut since you're keen to be so kind I'll have porridge with sliced strawberries and banana.ā€ Eve looked around at the others and their variety of meals. ā€œAnd toast generously buttered, with eggs and bacon cooked to perfection, a little tub of yogurt and...ā€ Eve stuttered as she couldn't even think of something for the extensive list to go on and she laughed. ā€œI really would like some porridge, thanks Atti.ā€

She sat back and crossed her legs. Eventually they were going to have to talk about his absence at the party, unless the reason was transparent or would reveal itself sooner than later. But Eve figured she had been interrogative enough within 24hours, so instead offered up a confession of her own. In Kit's room he had asked what Evelyn said to get McKenna to mentally beat her though by the end of the night things looked slightly better. ā€œI didn't say or do anything wrong last night,ā€ Evelyn insisted to Atticus softly. ā€œI was just a bit...forward with her. She's young, she's pretty, she has mental fortress walls around her.ā€ Evelyn shrugged. ā€œI was intrigued. I initially wanted her to know she had someone on her side funnily enough.ā€ Funnily enough in this circumstance meaning poorly ironic again, Evelyn mused. Was that the only thing she could find humor in these days?

Her fingers drummed a gentle rhythm on the table. It was quite a thing to be misunderstood but she had long promised herself people could make their own conclusions on her. At least she had Kit who she gave a warm smile to. Luckily he was graced with a little more appropriate social ability even if trend suggested the eldest be gifted in that department instead.

Elias finished his meal. He did not mind being alone at the table. As he was taking his last bite he let his gaze run around the room. When it settled on Trinity, he noticed that her gaze had just left him. Then she headed over to a table. No most likely she'd just been scanning the room. He thought about what a big brother was supposed to be like. Ok, he wasn't a big brother really, still it seemed that despite his usual policy of keeping to himself he might need to reach out to a few people here. His half sister was certainly one of those people. He looked down to his plate for another bite but found nothing there. he gave a little sigh and stood up. heading over to drop the tray off, he headed for the Table that Trin and Andy were seated at.

He had seen her a few times working out, training herself. He'd seen her pushing a little too hard too. He'd imagined that her friends had said as much to her too so he'd not make any comment on that. He did want to get to know her a little bit and well that seemed the perfect introduction. He'd find out a little more about her for sure, and well, maybe even a bit of just how far she was pushing. As he approached he gave a nod to Andy, then Wes. "Sorry to interrupt. I've just got a quick question for you Trinity. You up for a run tomorrow morning? We're both here, and well just doesn't seem right to not know anything about my half sister, ya know?" He'd stay a good couple steps back and to the side. He hated when people stood behind him and he imagined that most of the children of the gods had similar feelings. After all the world wasn't really a safe place for them.

STAFF ANNOUNCEMENT - ALARIC HART

ImageHe headed to the hall with a large bag over his shoulder prompting the camp attendees outside to follow him as he passed so he could make the announcement. Other staff patrolled the camp rounding the strays up or those that chose to slumber in their cabins.

Once he was burrowed in towards the back of the hall, he begun. "Excuse me." He cleared his throat. "Excuse me." Having little success to gain their focus that way, he whistled loudly, its sound easily carrying through the hall.
"Great. Now, it has come to my attention that the camp has been making ill on its promises to help harness and flourish your powers and provide exciting activity. So today, we play an extreme capture the flag. And yes it's mandatory that you participate. As elementary as that may sound, you need it. Welcome to camp. The teams will be split up in two.."

He cleared his throat and read from his list. "The Red Spartans: Alexandria, Andromeda, Dominick, McKenna, Ji-hyun, Sloane, Theo, Harleen, Finley, Atticus, Adrianna, Kalani, Elias, Nikoloas, Lise, Mason."

He looked up from his list expecting the groans to roll in but protesting would get them nowhere.

"The Blue Trojans: Ajax, Gwendolyn, Trinity, Wesley, Sylas, Annie, Seung-min, Emery, Dimitri, Duke, Keith, Isobel, Mateo, Areum, Raven and Evelyn."

"You die, you lose. You tap out, you lose. You get your color taken from you, you lose and come back to the hall and watch."
He dropped his bag with a grunt on a nearby table with a clatter. "Your colors are at your base. These are your weapons. You do not have to use a weapon, they will not be given to you. You can use your powers." He smirked a little. "Welcome to the Hunger Games." The reference to the gripping YA book probably went over at least half the camp attendants heads. Most didn't give reading the time of day, and those that did read probably didn't concern themselves with something so modernized, their noses either stuck in the air or buried in work of literature and ancient tales instead.
Alaric was mostly referring to the cornucopia aspect. The weapons would be scattered among the woods and thereā€™s for the taking, most of which were right at the center of the woods, gleaming and beckoning to be taken in the crossfire.
The camp attendees could figure out for themselves that the pain they could experience would be no more than a phantom pain via the weapons, traps and beasts that the very gods themselves, and some demigods designed and helped set up.

It would be best to see them treat it as real as possible.

"Do not go for fatal blows on each other," he warned as the final and only rule. A demigod turning on another demigod that way was vicious and cruel, and Alaric as well as other staff had no tolerance for it. It had no place in their camp.
"There are currently some hostile beasts prowling the woods," he assured in case anyone was disheartened by the idea of no-fatality experience. However, their very jaws and beings were enchanted so when they clamped down on a demigod fatally, they'd be warped straight to the hall. "You have two minutes to get to the woods, get your colors on, hide your flag within these perimeters," he pointed to the map's red and blue colored area on opposite ends of each other -AKA their bases, "devise a plan and create a universal safe word if you have to."

"I hope you're all awake, because time starts now."

Image "No offense taken. But with similar respect, the same could be said of a Hades child."
It was refreshing to come across someone so wise and Mason nodded with the statement to show, likewise, no offense was taken. "But, you can rest assured when I give someone my word, I follow through," Sylas added taking another grape from his bowl. "And I don't scare easily. I'm not frightened of a little bit of lightening."
Mason found himself nodding again and shrugging. Many would claim so. Jenn wasn't scared of lightening but the psycho bitch cut her head off. If you weren't scared of lightening and submissive to the spawns of Zeus they were particularly hostile because you didn't spoon-feed their massive egos.

"I think allies would be a more appropriate term. Friends aren't really in my wheel house. And no, I don't expect you to just trust me. Trust and friendship is earned... Not freely given."
"That it is."
Giving Sylas another look over Mason guessed they wouldn't evolve to such a stage. Keeping things business or as strictly allies would fit them both best. Worry of each other likely wouldn't come into the picture until after the Valises were gone. But who knew what the future held.

"Well, I mean we could simply just corner one of them... Stab stab. Job's done." Thankfully his lack of enthusiasm demonstrated that was among the most plain ideas and not a real one. "That lacks... Creativity, for lack of a better term. Sure, death is the end goal but we don't want it to be swift and merciful. It's more satisfying destroying someone, breaking them down and ruining them, root and stem."
What did he think Mason was doing? In addition to waiting for the right moment to present itself, he was trying some behind the scenes works. But he liked that Sylas liked the slower route. It was a bit more of a gamble but if it was a job done right, it would be most rewarding.
"I don't know how devious you are... But, I liked the idea of turning everyone they love against them."
Mason actually threw his hands up in the air and gestured to the hall. "Thank you! Finally someone gets it! I know I'm pretty but I haven't been spending my time doing my hair and flossing my teeth and solely thinking of ways to kill them." Mason hadn't exactly been targeting people they love to turn against them either, for the sheer fact that he couldn't even stand to be in radius of a Valis worshiper and they were harder to convert.
Actually, Mason was doing little in truth. He was just being a bit more social and charming and Alex already did the murdering. Mason did have one good asset though, however that was more an ace up the sleeve for him.

After a long moment in thought with his tongue pressed to his cheek, he spoke again. "I wouldn't mind dying to make a point. Providing old Pops brings me back." The camp needed to see the monsters under the surface. That it wasn't a one off thing. Like Sylas he wanted to ruin and bury their reputations and ruin the trust fellow demigods mistakenly placed in them. And sure, just to make it really burn, make their world collapse, turn the people they love against them.

Then, a staff member paced through the hall capturing Mason's attention. As he could have guessed, he was on a mission. Once he gathered everybody's attention, he laid out the task ahead.

It was in moments like so where Mason really had to reflect on his life choices, or certainly the choice of returning to camp and not killing Zeus's kids. Now he was teamed up with the one he despised most of all. At first he was consumed in hatred and distaste but eventually it evolved to a glimpse of opportunity. Extreme capture the flag meant full contact. In this case, it meant letting the demigods run wild like animals. Mason glanced back to Sylas. "Is the boy next door facade still staying on in the heat of competition?" He smirked and got up. Now was the time to see what those twins were made of that so easily slipped under the radar.

His legs carried him there automatically and he was in another head space entirely, even as he wrapped the band around his arm. Except when he had to tune in on the team speech, Mason supposed that might have been important. Important to feign attention in anyway as winning or losing didn't really matter to him. How many rematches could happen down the track, and what did winning really prove? That you had a good team and the right players? That they were lucky? Mason crossed his arms and waited for any outgoing brains to take initiative.

ImageTwo minutes!? Duke paced off to what was temporarily known as the Blue Trojan's base. He wasn't going to hide the flag, leaving that duty instead to the likes of Ajax or better, Seung-min. He pulled a blue bandanna and wrapped it around his forearm.

Duke pressed his tongue to his cheek on his little over-eager team. The hype was good, but they needed a strategy implemented, especially when the opposing team had the likes of Lise and McKenna. "We need defenders, attackers and maybe a mid-field. We also need to consider our biggest threats. Harleen, she's quick, she's deft, you dont want your band taken off you without knowing you've even been touched. Likewise, Andy, military brat and witch, she'll be more confrontational and physical, keep your wits about you. Kalani can seduce you, stay focused. Adrianna, I've never seen her competitive side but I can guess she has one, and not to underestimate her."
He gestured to Mateo because the very same applied to him. Then again who wasn't a threat? He gave up. "Take out the Spartans brains, healers and manipulators first, then deal with the brutes. They probably think we're a confrontational side too, that we're going in with guns blazing, but let's try to be a little more subtle. Travel in pairs if you can. Not attached at the hip though."
If there was an ambush, heā€™d prefer one teammate to go down and not a collective of them.
"Wes, Raven, Dimitri, Isobel cover the middle, please." Together the four made a disarming pair, and a protective one too if they accessed the right emotions and triggers, and powers of course.
"Emery, Seung-min, Sylas and Evelyn, you're our secret weapons. Aim for the Spartan's flag. Avoid the heat of the battle if you can, use evasive or defensive techniques." The four could get creative. Their gifts and applications were always a surprise and they weren't the type that urged an immediate threat. "Ajax, Trinity; they'll be expecting us. Let's not disappoint." They were probably the renowned biggest war-heads. Without them near the front line of battle, the opposition would get suspicious about their presence.
"Daniel -uh, Keith, stay as a line of defense. Gwendolyn, I think you'd make a strong offense but it depends where you want to go, you'd know where you're best kept. Annie, I think we need you to press forward too. Look after our assault team and stun some opponents. If that makes you uncomfortable, stay back with Keith."
Duke looked between the remainder of Areum and Mateo. The demigods whose attitude he most struggled to grasp. Daniel needed some help in defense, but he felt their usefulness could be better spent elsewhere. In the middle as both offensive and defensive forces.

Then he caught himself, swept up in heat of the moment. "That's my suggestion anyway," he said so the more sensitive didn't kick up a fuss about him taking lead on a strategy or 'ordering them around'. After all, he was no child of Athena or son of Zeus. "Anybody else got an idea?"

ImageKeith tried not to be so evaluating and calculating of the new state of camp. It seemed to bustle with a few more energetic bodies than last year and definitely a few more brooding faces and vibes. He felt his heart sink in the knowledge that it'd be hard to make friends. There seemed so little room for the socially awkward and everybody else already had established their "clique".

Sometimes the camp could be exceptionally boring and dull, but that was something he simply had to endure like everyone else and hope the next day would be more rewarding. His degree of boredom would just be more though. His lips pressed in a line and he plucked out his earphones and shuffled through his phone for a tune that could ignite his soul. Keith smiled slightly when he found it. Some would argue it was a little too swaggerish for him but part of him really liked it and had a guilty pleasure listening to JT.

The son of Hecate traveled through camp territory for another year of learning and fighting evil, having to suppress the urge to walk in rhythmic bounces and pull some Michael Jackson move. He made his way to hall, typically the central congregation point of people, new and regular. That, plus some staff waved him over to and pointed to it.

Some larger species of male had bumped him. "Daniel," they said casually, but he was bowing to the ground to retrieve his glasses that were knocked down on impact. He carefully placed them back on the bridge of his nose, surprised to see the brute had actually taken to stop and staring. For a round two, he prayed not.
Keith slowly rose and for some time it seemed they just stared at each other. "I'm sorry," Keith said finally and spun on his heel to take an extended detour. It wasn't worth getting his teeth knocked out and he didn't want to cause any trouble. Keith had spent some time in the gym on his holidays and become a bit more solid in build, but it was nothing that girls would second look or enough to engage in a fist-fight confidently. The hall would still be there too. He wasn't missing anything.

When he slid into the hall an announcement was happening, and he shrunk into the wall then nestled into a corner and slowly pulled out his earplugs. An extreme mandatory capture the flag...what could go wrong. Inside, Keith wanted to die there and then or dissolve into a puddle. It was like high school P.E class and the untalented still had to participate even when no one really wanted them on the team, and they didn't really want to participate, and the teachers were the only ones that thought it was a good idea in the entire universe. He sighed out and was the first to exit the hall and make his way to blue base.

Duke started rattling off a plan, and while he was smart and confident and that was semi-contagious when it came to his plan, Keith was super insecure about being the last line of defense by guarding the base especially by his lonesome. That was enough pressure for him to develop a twitch and have a nervous breakdown. But externally, there was no more displayed than light levels of anxiety.

ā€œHave you tried it?ā€ Wes chuckled. He parted his lips to answer, but she continued on before he could answer. ā€œFine, fine. I get it. The power of passion is dangerous.ā€ He followed closely behind Trinity as she made her way toward the hall. ā€œHow would the primitive daughter to the god of war possibly be able to cope with lust?ā€

Wes shook his head, entering the hall behind her. "I didn't say that," he corrected her as grabbed himself a bagel and some bacon. With his plate in had, he moved beside her as she prepared her cereal. "I don't want to alter your emotions... What if I couldn't undo it?" Wes didn't like the thought of manipulating her emotions in any way. What if he accidentally made her devoted to himself? Even if he had her love, it wouldn't true or honest. He thought meddling in someone's emotions is an invasion of privacy and freedom. He only resorts to it in times of need.

ā€œBut you can point love and desire in a direction?ā€ Wes nodded is head in acknowledgement. ā€œThat's how you made the giant chase those stonemen last year. So what if you...ā€ Then Trinity trailed off when she looked to where his right arm used to exist. She sighed and pressed her tongue to her cheek.

Wes sighed. It was one time he wished he had his other arm because he wanted to wrap it around Trinity. But a nudge to her shoulder would have to do. "Hey... It doesn't bother me, what happened," he said wiggling his right shoulder barren an arm. "You can talk about it. I won't spontaneously combust." He followed her toward Andy's table, but continued on with his conversation. "And yes, I did use it for the giant. But that's because it was going after Andy," he said motioning his plate toward the brunette as he sat down at her table beside Trin. "Battle is different than messing with someone's free will for no reason."

Image

Once breakfast was over, the teams started to gather up. Wes was on Trinity's team and honestly, he had no idea if that was a good thing or not. After all it was just a training exercise, but Trin had power and ability. She didn't need to be worried about him and what others might do to him... Although, he knew better than that. So, instead of trying to give his opinion, he simply stood by and listened to Duke's plan of action. Seemed like sound logic to him.

"Looks like I won't be your burden today Blondie. You're on offense... And I'm... Whatever the middle is." He chuckled, nudging her slightly. That's alright. Wes would probably be one of the first people knocked out anyways.

When Duke mentioned Daniel... Or Keith, Wes just founded himself staring at him like an idiot. He leaned his head down next to Trinity's and whispered in her ear. "Uhhh... When did this happen? Does Andy know?" He sighed, scratching his head. He guessed they'd figure out eventually. Instead of speaking up or anything else, Wes just decided to hang back and do whatever everyone else told him to do. In the end he was a liability. An Aphrodite kid with one arm and no ability to fight wasn't worth much in battle.

"Thank you! Finally someone gets it! I know I'm pretty but I haven't been spending my time doing my hair and flossing my teeth and solely thinking of ways to kill them." Mason threw up his hands. It was apparent that he appreciated the fact that Sylas saw things on a similar level to him. It made him chuckle. Well he was definitely glad to see that they were on the same page when it came to plan of approach. Sylas could be helpful with the whole stab, stab too. But, where he really flourished was with manipulation.

"I wouldn't mind dying to make a point. Providing old Pops brings me back."

Sylas leaned forward slightly, scratching his chin with his thumb. "If you could guarantee you'd be brought back... That's not a terrible idea." The ideas start churning in his head. He made sure to lower his voice, leaning forward slightly more to be extra certain. "What if... A Valis killed you?" After a moment he looked up. "What if... Ajax killed you? Andy and Trinity's allegiance would be yours, without question. Especially if you came back. Ms. Bolton wouldn't forgive Ajax. Having a witch on your side? That's a strong ally to have."

A staff member gained their attention enough to talk about an extreme capture the flag game. Full on hand to hand contact and combat. This definitely intrigued Sylas, and no doubt it intrigued Mason as well. It was almost like he could see the wheels turning in the Hades child's mind. "Is the boy next door facade still staying on in the heat of competition?"

Sylas smirked. "I guess you'll find out if we come face to face... Now won't we?"

Image

Sylas joined his team, indifferent about many of the people on it. Of course, Ajax would be good to start working his magic on currently. Trinity and Duke could be good to start turning against the Valises, per Mason's wishes. Most of the rest of them seemed fairly useless. Other than this... Keith. He was getting a lot of weird looks from seasoned campers which peaked his interest. And apparently a son of Hecate. Interesting? Maybe Andy wasn't the player they needed after all. But Andy's emotional ties to Mason would be far more useful than some no body.

He stood by patiently listening through Duke's game plan. Sylas saw issues with it, in multiple areas. But, he wasn't going to argue. He didn't particularly care if he was on the winning team. As long as he kicked ass, that's all that mattered to him. But when he heard that Duke intended him to... To flank? And be defensive and go for the flag, Sylas stiffened at the thought. He waited patiently until Duke's whole pep talk was done.

Then Sylas cleared his throat and raised his hand. "I just wanted to add... I have extensive knowledge and training in combat, in particular fencing and martial arts. I feel sending me after the flag and staying fairly hidden or defensive would not benefit the team... Also considering that I can induce violence and chaos, turning the other team against themselves. I believe I belong on the front lines with you, Trinity and Ajax." Honestly, if he were told otherwise, he probably wouldn't listen when the time came. But, he's more useful in the middle of everything. He's more useful to Mason and himself close to Ajax.

Andy perked up where she sat seeing Trinity and Wes come to join her. She smiled toward them through her bite of the banana. Trin took the seat across from her. ā€œHey,ā€ she said as she made room for Wes beside her. ā€œWhere's company?ā€ Then she nodded her head to the empty seat beside Andy like there should be someone there who isn't.

Andy rolled her eyes, then took a bite of her cereal. "You know, it's not like we're attached at the hip." She took an aggressive bite of her banana. As she chewed her sarcastic facade seemed to vanish slowly until she was almost frowning. "It's complicated," Andy finally said, looking between Trin and Wes. "I'll tell you about it after training." She then looked down at her bowl of cereal, stirring her food around with her spoon but didn't know what else to say.

Luckily, before she had to try to find something to say to change the atmosphere of the table, one of the staff members proceeded to announce the training event. Intense capture the flag, that started immediately. She couldn't help but laugh when she heard the teams, shaking her head slightly. "Looks like I'll be seeing you all on the battle field." Of course, Andy would have preferred being on Trinity's team. They could have kicked major ass together... But, something about the idea of going against her was almost as enticing.

"Yeah, she's stuck with me. Hell of a trade," Wes joked looking between the two girls.

Andy pushed off the table and moved to her feet. With a snap of her fingers, her casual clothes quickly changed to her battle attire with armor and a bandana around her head of her team's color. She smirked at her friends. "Oh, shoot... You guys don't have armor," she said pursing her lips with a mocking smile. "That sucks." She grabbed up her trash from breakfast and then patted her free hand on the table. "Good luck guys. I hope, for your sakes, I don't come across you all on the battlefield." With that, she gave them a wink then went to find her team.

On her way to her team, Andy stopped behind Mason as he stood to leave his table and grabbed his shoulders. "Sorry to interrupt gentleman. Sylas, do you mind if I steal my teammate? We have scheming to do." She grinned mischievously, tapping her fingers along his shoulders.

"By all means," Sylas smiled, motioning toward them. "Maybe with the two of you working together, I'll finally get a fair fight."

Andy laughed. "Cocky. I like him," she said to Mason. "Sounds like Mr. Astor hasn't seen us in action. But that's alright, there's always a good view on your back." She gave Mason a pat on his shoulders and as she did so his casual clothes changed into battle gear. Was that technically fair to give herself and her teammates armor? Maybe not. But, they did say she could use her powers... So. Armor for her teammates it is.

Without any further objections, Andy grabbed Mason's arm and pulled him along with her. She knew this was going to be an interesting development with Alex on their team. But she made the decision that if they went at capture the flag as a pair, they could really do some damage. In and out in a jiffy. "So here's my thought. Since I have magic... What if I distract them but running straight into the heat of things, while you flank from the shadows and snatch up their colors? Unless you have a better plan of attack."

Sloane saw the camp staff member making his way toward the hall and something inside her told her that she needed to be there. She quickly shoved her journal back into her bag and climbed down the tree. She made her way into the hall just in time to hear what the staff member had to say about the capture the flag game. She couldn't help the sinking feeling she felt in her gut at the thought. Sloane was by no means a fighter and would most definitely be knocked out rather quickly.

Her gaze drifted over to Dom's when she heard his name and then her own. Both on the Spartan team. She didn't quite know if she was worried or relieved that she wasn't on her brother's team. But, she'd take the opportunity to get some separation where she could get it. Sloane swerved through the campers until she reached Dom. She gave him a shy smile. "It uh... Looks like we're on the same team." She sighed, rocking back and forth on her heels. "I apologize in advanced. I couldn't protect myself if I tried... And I'm not particularly dressed for combat," she added looking down at her attire.

It seemed just as she said that, Andy walked past her. Without a word from the veteran camp member, Andy simply tapped Sloane's shoulder. The change rushed over her like a wave of warmth. When she looked back down, she saw herself in more combat appropriate attire, including team colors and all. Sloane glanced over her shoulder to thank Andy, giving her a weak smile in appreciation. She then looked back toward Dom, giving a weak smile. "Ok, well... I'll still get knocked out just as easily no matter how I'm dressed."

Just as Theo had turned his flirting with Gwen all the way up, one of the camp directors came through the door and explained how the game of capture the flag would work. He rolled his eyes as Gwen was not among his teammates. As the director finished, Theo's mind immediately started spinning with ideas as he grabbed a map from a table nearby . His eyes widened as he saw which side of camp his squad had. He cracked a slight smile. They had the water at their back over by the Poseidon cabins. As his mind surveyed the landmarks of the camp he had completely memorized, he knew there was a certain rock formation on the shore that a person could hide in. His idea involved hiding the flag in the rock crevice.

He looked around at his group. Surely the newer campers would look to the veterans to formulate a game plan considering their more extensive knowledge of camp and their experience in battle. That left it up to Theo, Mason, Andy, and Alex. Theo decided it would be good time for him to step up. Mason was definitely not the type to tell everyone what to do. Andy would probably go along with anything as long as her talents were properly utilized. Alex was a Zeus child, but Theo knew she trusted him. Theo liked the opportunity to step up, and he didn't doubt that Alex would allow it. She might do her own thing out there regardless of the plan, but Theo knew for sure she could handle herself.

With that Theo stepped into the middle of the awkward circle they had formed as they got out of ear shot of the other team. "Okay, so here is what I am thinking. We have the shore on our side. Finley, you know that rock formation out by the cabin with the crevice surrounded by the taller rocks? I think we could hide the flag there. You could pull the tide out the the formation to make it even more complicated to search around there. After the flag is hidden, we need attackers and defenders. Dominick, I think you should stay back and help Finley defend the flag for sure. You could even hard freeze the water in the crevice with the flag in the very middle of the ice. That would buy us some time even if they manage to get to the flag because they would have to get it out of the ice.

Ji-Hyun, Sloane, Atticus, Adrianna, Kalani, and Nik... you guys should stay back on this side to defend. My best idea would be for you guys to pair off. This way if anyone gets in a sticky situation they always have someone to help them out. The longer we keep as many people in the game as we can, the better off we are. Two more of you should probably stay close by the flag with Dom and Fin, but the others pairs should post up somewhere else on their natural path to the flag. Think of an alert system and communicate with each other back here. As the game closes in on the flag you guys can work your way back. Right now try to defend the territory as a whole and knock a few people out. I can almost guarantee you Ajax, Duke, and Trinity are coming this way. Be ready. I'm not sure who else will be attacking though.

Andy, Alex, McKenna, Harleen, Elias, Mason, Lise, and myself would probably be best as attackers. I think we should probably go in pairs too. Think about who could complement you well. Elias I think I'd like to pair with you. I can go from high place to high place covering your back as you control things in close range on the ground. We should all spread out and canvas the area, looking for the flag, and trying to knock out their defenders. We need a signal too in case someone finds the flag or gets in trouble. Harleen, do your thing. Make their heads spin and if you have a run at the flag then get some cover and go for it. Lise and Mason... the two of you are probably the sneakiest of all of us. Try to pair up with someone aggressive who can cover you. When we find the flag, we need to go all in after the thing while the two of you try to slip in and slip away with the flag. Everyone else, let's put on a show. I think we have the better team here. Be patient. If we can knock several of their players out early, we will be in great shape. Be cautious with who you get into a fight with though. We need everyone out there as long as possible. Have fun. Stay focused. Be smart. Play to your strengths. If you can manipulate their minds, use that. If you can fight it our or shoot it out like me, use those things too. Remember, snatching their band might be easier than winning a fight. I think we can really win this thing. Anyone got any ideas for signals or anything else?"

Theo took a deep breath and looked around at his comrades for the day, satisfied with his plan, trying to judge if everyone else was too. He kept a positive tone, and he tried to make sure he didn't sound like a dictator.

"Nooo, that would ruin both our nights." He chuckled. "You don't want my big feet stepping on your little fairy ones." Alex laughed. She could picture that scene so well. "But if you wanted to dance for future reference there are children of Apollo. They are gifted in music and I assume rhythm. There will be a lot less foot stepping. And you could always dance on your own." He pointed out and shrugged. That was true. She didn't need a partner, she could have easily torn that dance floor up with her own little moves. Still, the thought of being close to Duke for just one song at least was a nice one.

"That's very true. Dancing alone is still a lot of fun, so I don't mind the gentle rejection." she teased.

He led her to a table after that. "So have you heard the camp's plans? Capture the flag. How do you think you'll go?" Duke inquired resting an arm on the table and leaning forward to get Alex's soul-bearing answer.

She had the urge to quickly lean in, plant a kiss to those lips of his, but it wouldn't have been the right moment. Wouldn't have felt special for either of them. "Honestly!? not very well. I mean, I'll be fine," she quickly added. "I'll absolutely love every second of it, but I think you and my brother will be much better than anything I decide to do. I was thinking about going all Assassin. At first, I thought I could use my flying, but that wouldn't really be fair on those who can't, so I decided to stun anyone who gets too close." she cringed. Her brain didn't work well when it came to tactics. She hated the feeling of disappointing Duke with her answer, especially since it looked like he was waiting for some explosion of fine art to pour out of her mouth. A child of Ares, Artemis, or Athena.. they were the artists of tactics, war strategy, and wisdom. "I'm sorry, I... I'm never good at this stuff," she confessed.

Image Later that morning, Alex side glanced in Mason's direction, anticipating the announcement of which team he'd be part of. The second he was put into her team, Alex twisted her jaw and looked away as her nostrils flared a little. Still, Mason was better than having that Sylas guy on the team. She didn't trust him one bit since she had noticed him getting cozy with the prince of the underworld.

Once The Spartans were out of the Trojans earshot, and sight, she listened closely to Theo's plan. She honestly thought the plan was well thought out. Better than anything she would have cooked up.

Using the water was the best part. Nothing too aggressive, but giving the other team a bit of a challenge to get that red flag of theirs. "Couldn't have said it any better," she complimented Theo. Alaric's announcement was perfect, had Alex feeling excited, and nervous at the same time. The beasts wouldn't be much of a problem. She hoped. They looked strong, vicious and highly dangerous. "I just want to add. No doubt others will want to take out the beasts, but we could use them couldn't we? Mason," saying his name felt like acid on her tongue, poison in her throat. "He could tame the beasts, or would that be considered as cheating? I mean, Alaric did say we can use our powers."

Once everything was decided, Alex headed off in one direction, scaling the buildings so she was high up for a good viewpoint. She wanted to plan out her path towards the other team players while remaining out of sight for the time being. The Spartans needed to set up the rock formation with the water frozen around their flag, and the others needed to get into their positions before they could push forward while the others hang back to protect the flag.

It wasn't too long before Ajax made his way back to the camp. Going to the moirai was a bad idea after all. No doubt now it would be his fault if Hades managed to take Mount Olympus from his father, and endangering everyone else's Godly parents. How the hell was he going to explain this to everyone? he could have spoken about his plans to all of them, but no, he just wandered off alone to carry the burdens as usual.

He kicked the steel bucket that sat near the Camps well, causing it to hit one of the center trees. The steel now indented. Most things that went wrong in this place, was because of a Valis because they took action without thinking things through.

Ajax made his way into the hall, but he didn't head to the front. Instead, he kept himself right at the back where no one could see him while Alaric dived into the ins and outs of the game. He then followed his team, and as Duke laid out an excellent plan and gave Ajax direct instructions to push up ahead with their brute force, Ajex looked around, but not directly at the team. His gaze was looking around at their feet. "I'll hang back, just in case any stragglers get through." he knew that wouldn't sound like him because he would have quickly grabbed the chance to show off his abilities in an event like this, but he couldn't let them know anything was wrong. Not yet.

"You know, it's not like we're attached at the hip," Andy remarked quite sassily. And while they weren't, they did look to be having certain fun last night so she just especially figured..."It's complicated. I'll tell you about it after training."

Uh-oh. Trinity nodded understandingly.

"Sorry to interrupt. I've just got a quick question for you Trinity. You up for a run tomorrow morning? We're both here, and well just doesn't seem right to not know anything about my half sister, ya know?"

Part of her was compelled to jump right out of her seat and stand to attention for her half-brother but that might have been weird. ā€œHundred per cent,ā€ Trinity assured with a nod and just as she was about to gesture for him to sit, a staff member strode into the Hall.

The more Alaric spoke, the more she was enthused. In days like so, Trinity admired camp for its lively and challenging nature. It had been what felt like forever since there was some ultimate challenge. And a team one at that. Something that tested them physically and mentally.

"Looks like I'll be seeing you all on the battle field."

"Yeah, she's stuck with me. Hell of a trade."

Trinity bumped her elbow into him and smiled. Then Andy snapped her fingers and was in battle gear. "Oh, shoot... You guys don't have armor. That sucks. Good luck guys. I hope, for your sakes, I don't come across you all on the battlefield."

Once she was out of sight and ear range, Trinity scowled. ā€œBloody witches.ā€ Then her gaze flickered back to Elias. ā€œHope you bring your A game, champ. I honestly look forward to seeing what you can do.ā€ Maybe Elias could mirror her own potential.

_______________________________________________________________

Trinity was so immersed in the plan of action by Duke, she felt his logic made sense providing you drew the lines and reasoning together for yourself. Granted, half of it probably would be improvised.

"Looks like I won't be your burden today Blondie. You're on offense... And I'm... Whatever the middle is." He gave her a nudge and chuckled.

She rolled her eyes playfully and bumped him back. ā€œI'm bait, Wesley Preston and the middle is good.ā€ Trinity spoke Duke's language. The middle could be offensive and defensive forces.

Also due to being immersed in all things war and winning, Danielā€™s existence didnā€™t hit her radar until Wes appeared in her ear. "Uhhh... When did this happen? Does Andy know?"

Trinity looked around then saw the source and cocked her head. How subdued he was, the glassesā€¦but that face! She couldnā€™t help but frown and stare. ā€œHe would have mentioned something if he had a twin, right?ā€ Trinity glanced up to Wes questioningly then back to this Keith.

Slowly she tore her eyes away from him and back to the group as Sylas piped up. That's why he wants you behind the scenes, she rebutted in her head with a scowl. Then Ajax with the most disarming of statements. "I'll hang back, just in case any stragglers get through."

She waited for his change of heart but it didn't come. Trinity's eyes darted back to Duke, almost feeling guilty to announce her views now. ā€œI'm happy to push forward as my primary role, and I will do it, but I'd also like to be a spare. Go where I'm needed you know.ā€ Trinity gestured towards Wes with her head and grinned, immediately patting him on the back.

ā€œAlso, as a bit of a forewarning, some of the reds are equipped with light armor but even through armor there's weakness,ā€ she assured her team. ā€œAnd I know from experience a few of them like to take vantage points so it should go without saying but be mindful where you are.ā€

Trinity wrapped her color around her like a buckle then held another blue out for Wes. ā€œWhere do you want it?ā€ As she tied it around him, Trinity spoke. ā€œSeriously though, Wes, use your powers and be an ass because people won't give you the same mercy.ā€ Trinity felt defeated even telling him that. He could be a stubborn one even when his moral code had no place on the battlefield. ā€œIf they're in red, they're the enemy,ā€ she muttered aloud her own logic that probably did nothing to likes of Wes. She grabbed his chin. ā€œDon't make me have to give you rage,ā€ she teased. She just wanted him to look after himself to the best of his ability.

Before Trinity headed her separate ways from the team, Trinity grabbed Ajaxā€™s shoulder but looked beyond him, painting the picture that they were talking no more than battle strategy or casual. ā€œYou okay, you seem kind of out of it?ā€
She asked lowly.

Evidently something was the matter but it just came down to whether he wanted to share or not. Trinity looked longingly to her calling of the vast vegetation that she had to travel to get to the Spartans base. ā€œI got to go but...stand strong.ā€
Trinity rose a fist mid air then started covering the ground she lost.

An announcement had never filled her with such joy. Normally they were long winded, boring, or on the topic of an incident or welcoming speech but it was capture the flag along with the teams and guidelines.

ā€œSee ya on the flip side.ā€
She saluted to Mateo beaming, and without losing a beat headed to the Spartans base.

Once there, it was Theo that took the reins when she expected a plan to come from Alex or Lise. But the Son of Artemis..it was a nice curveball especially when he spoke such strategy and edge. Harley saluted when he gave her her role. She could definitely make heads spin. Now she was just itching to put that plan in effect alongside her teammates.

When they were all on the same page, Harley didn't waste time darting off and neither did Alex which she assumed would be her complementing pair. Harley had lost the brunette regrettably but no matter, Harley was quite capable of being an independent scout and she could always speed back and forth to tell their defensive line how things were looking or if she found that blue flag. Just then her foot landed on something and before the rope could seize her by the ankle she skipped out of it just in time.

Handsome director Alaric neglected to mention there were traps laying about. But Harley found it all the more exciting. She grinned wickedly and sped off to see what else she could find.

After smugly enjoying her specially made breakfast, a higher member of camp entered the hall and took over the show. Unfortunately a dreadful announcement came from such a handsome face. However, it did spike her intrigue.

_____________________________________________________________

Any feeling of content, peace, even the mundane and boredom was erased in seconds as she lay eyes on a particular male with glasses. Evelyn felt like time stopped around her, there was no air, no space, everything seemed to drop, including her heart. It wasn't because he was good looking, though he was a fine specimen, but it was her instincts that plummeted and knotted at the same time.

Evelyn restrained herself from approaching him however, it was too hard to identify what her instincts were alerting her to. It wasn't bad like when she locked eyes with Eris's son and Hades child, but it was unsettling. Evelyn would remain at distance to observe him some more for now, who he mingled with or who approached him and gain more of a sense from there. She wasn't dumb enough to walk into the void of the unknowing. Besides, the game required her attention and Duke wanted her as a secret weapon. To become and serve as a shadow player. So that is what she would do.

Only after she voiced her own idea for an edge. ā€œCan we join hands for a moment or touch? Itā€™s not to pray, I promise you.ā€

Evelyn touched the closest team members on their upper arms. Those that did link up were so rewarded with heightened senses aside from touch and taste. She found when those senses were manipulated it made people paranoid or in a state of awe, it served as only a distraction and presently they needed focus. With their hearing, sight and smell peaked they could be more attuned to danger. Building on what Trinity informed them to - the armor and vantage points, it seemed they could use it.

ā€œI donā€™t know much about war strategy but I think we have a strong team to use misdirection to our advantage.ā€ Evelyn wasn't exactly sure what she could do yet, but in the moment, she had a feeling she'd know how to tip the scales in the blues favor.

Once the meeting of sorts was adjourned she trudged her way out wide.

Image Andy grabbed him, gave him some armor and pretty soon they were off to the planning phase. Andy, Theo and himself all had the same idea for him, basically being to flank and use the shadows to his advantage so at least they didn't expect anything outrageous of him. In turn, Mason repaid their non-stupid ideas with silence, unlike Alex. "Couldn't have said it any better." Mason glanced to Andy and rolled his eyes. Everything she said and did was punchable and irritating, other people had to see that. "I just want to add. No doubt others will want to take out the beasts, but we could use them couldn't we? Mason, he could tame the beasts, or would that be considered as cheating? I mean, Alaric did say we can use our powers."
She wasn't speaking directly to him, more about and around him. But he doubted someone would speak on his behalf. "Let's not pretend cheating matters to you,"
he remarked coldly.
"I mean, I could always help with that?" Kalani offered. "Since I'm pretty sure my abilities would come in handy to get them onside. Just a thought."
With great willpower he closed his eyes and replied as civilly as possible, "And I can try. We can try," he said pointing between Kalani and himself. He'd just have to have the unpleasant experience of encountering one first.

"Let's go." He gestured for Andy. Before they split up, her charging into battle and him slinking into the shadows, he decided to make conversation. "So what happened last night huh?" He saw the couple dancing and being all cute and loving, then they disappeared together for the night so he could draw the lines. Then again, he decided he didnā€™t need to hear it or be directly lied to. "You know, I actually had a little more faith in you. Whatā€™s worse is youā€™re supposed to be better than that. You know what heā€™s done, where heā€™s been but you act like a little teen girl with no self control. I mean whatā€™d he do? Blow in your ear, tell you he loves you? If I wanted to conquer someone in the sac, Iā€™d do that too, Andy!" He didn't even know he was biting back on the whole matter for so long until it exploded out of him like that. It wasn't even frustration alone but it was laced with disappointment. Any time he grew hope...

Honestly it was hard for him to even look at her. He really thought she had more brains than to give into a moment's desire. Mason put a hand in the air. "You know what, fuck this." Mason marched off and the pitch black enveloped him.

His pace gained him some ground and just when he was about to rip off his band, he heard some twigs snap and Mason looked up and saw Alex alone confronting two dog-like creatures with her hands up. While it wasn't the chance, it was a chance. Mason emerged from the shadow, and placed his hands on both the dogs flanks. They growled and spat at first at the contact but then he had them on his side. For a moment he stared at Alex. "Sic' her boys," he ordered, sending the beasts charging forward at Alex.

ImageHis teammates weren't exactly cosy with him, in fact they stared like he was some apparition or ghost or something. Basically the last person on earth they expected to see in their plane of existence. It made him feel uncomfortable, swallowing the lump in his throat then innocently trying to offer a smile but he was still the first to look away again.

Staring competitions weren't his cup of tea and when it came from a few different angles, it was a hard game to win or to even engage in. Thankfully a voice from the side emerged serving as a distraction."Hey- Will you be alright guarding on your own? I can hang back with you if you like, not that I'll be much help on the, ah, defence front." Then a warm smile graced her features. "I'm Annie, by the way."
"Oh, thank you," he answered. For taking initiative to introduce herself and for offering to hang back with him he supposed and being genuinely kind and considerate. Soon realizing that wasn't conversational or really answered her question, he added, "I'm Keith. But you already knew that cause..." Keith tried to grin at his foolishness but he wanted to die. "I'm sure I'll manage guard duty. I mean if things get bad people will just fall back and help defend anyway, right?"

ā€œAlso, as a bit of a forewarning, some of the reds are equipped with light armor but even through armor there's weakness,ā€ Trinity told the team just as he was able to feign confidence.
Keith's shoulders slumped. "Great." Nonetheless he looked back to Annie and smiled reassuringly.

ā€œCan we join hands for a moment or touch? Itā€™s not to pray, I promise you,ā€ a red head concluded. Keith frowned but drifted over to link up with his teammates. Whatever she did, Keith felt better. Like every color and shape was way more defined and vibrant, he could smell the woods. He inhaled deeply then came out of his daze as she spoke again. ā€œI donā€™t know much about war strategy but I think we have a strong team to use misdirection to our advantage.ā€
"Misdirection," he heard himself echo. It felt like there was sense in the world again. "I can do that." Keith didnā€™t have to be a brute force, just think outside the box a little. And if Duke only mentioned him as defense, well...that was a hella a lot of faith from a logical person. Surely it was in him to think out the box.

He rubbed his hands together as if warming up his magic. He had this. Plus according to Duke's plan there was a whole first line of defense pushed forward before anyone got to him.

Image His idea had a few protests or additional ones, or even additional tips/warnings from the likes of Trinity, but at least everyone addressed it with a certain respect. He was just afraid they weren't broadening their horizons or saw their own potential, instead choosing to play something more comfortable. Comfort and confidence were important to an extent but it didn't leave much room for development. And for something like capture the flag and victory, it was essential the team knew how to link up, but within moments he could tell that wouldn't quite be the case. Without training with each other for weeks at least, it would be impossible to have that team connection; know each other's limits and capabilities.

Evelyn suggested they gather which was odd to say the least so out of the blue but Duke obeyed and shifted into range of the girl and felt better for it. Then she threw in her extra two cents by saying they had the team for misdirection to be an advantage.
They did and could but that was up to how the team played to decide that. No matter, Duke nodded to them. "Okay guys, do what you will. You essentially know you best."

His eyes finally flickered to Ajax's sternly. "Hang back in case stragglers get through" he had said. It was a good excuse, but not himself. With all there was to say already said, he marched off, gesturing for the team to move out too. Duke didn't get anywhere in a hurry, instead, he moved at a pace that lingered for Trinity who caught up in no time and he saw previously having words with Ajax. "Is he okay?" Duke checked. He gave her a moment to answer before offering a bright side. "It's probably good that we raise a bit of suspicion. Cause a bit of doubt among the Spartans." Ajax's lack of attendance may have brought that about but probably needed reinforcing. And Sylas in the first line of attack would also be a contributing factor. "Split up. Then they wont know who's coming for them or at what angle. But hit before our flank can be exposed. Keep them busy. I won't be too far."

Wes found it hard not to stare at this... Keith. Who was he? Obviously, he was no Daniel. Everything about him, from what he could tell, was the opposite of what Daniel was. Wes didn't know him as well as some of the others, but he knew enough to know something was off. He shifted uncomfortably where he stood, pursing his lips in thought. He could only hope this interesting development reached Andy at a more opportune moment. Maybe she'd be lucky enough to first hear it from Trinity's lips, instead of discovering it on her own.

And speaking of Trinity. ā€œHe would have mentioned something if he had a twin, right?ā€

Wes rubbed the back of his neck, then sighed. "I think you should warn her," he cleared his throat before continuing. "Andy... That's if she doesn't run into him on the battlefield."

He remained quiet and attentive listening to the rest of the battle plan. It all seemed like sound logic in his opinion, but he doesn't particular have a mind for battle strategy. Hopefully, Wes could just hold his ground with whomever... Or, whatever crossed his path. There might be a small handful of people at the camp that he could take on, but that wasn't promising. Part of him wished he could be the one to capture the other teams flag. It definitely put him under a new light, instead of the Aphrodite kid that lost his arm in the war last year. Not that Wes was ever a force to be reckoned with in the first place, but he liked the idea... Even if he knew it wouldn't happen.

ā€œWhere do you want it?ā€

Wes' attention was brought back to the blonde beside him. He then glanced about himself trying to figure out the best place to put those. With one hand, his wrist wouldn't be the most practical place. His hand grabbed the hem of his shirt, while his index finger tapped his belt loop. Once she fastened it for him, he smiled slightly. "Thanks."

ā€œSeriously though, Wes, use your powers and be an ass because people won't give you the same mercy.ā€ He looked around at the other members of their team as Trinity tried to give Wes a pep talk. He knew this all was practice to prepare them all for real battle, but these were all their friends, companions and comrades. He exhaled deeply through his nose. ā€œIf they're in red, they're the enemy,ā€ she added.

He sighed, with a slight smirk and a roll of his eyes. "I'm battle inept, not color blind."

Trin then grabbed his chin, forcing him to look down at her. ā€œDon't make me have to give you rage,ā€ she teased.

Wes subconsciously leaned his head into her touch, just a little. He gave her a final nod. "Yes ma'am," he replied before she walked away to talk to Ajax.

He stood there for a minute, his hand mindlessly tugging and adjusting his colors that were attached to his belt loop. Finally, Wes walked over to the bag of weapons Alaric left on the table for them. He stared down at what was left, trying to decide what to grab. He only had one arm, after all, which limited what he could carry and accomplish. Wes wasn't much of a fighter, so defense was always the best strategy but he still needed something incase he came upon one of the monsters out there. He sifted through the bag until he found a shield with a strap, that allowed him to wear it over his back similar to a backpack. With his hand free, he snatched up a spear, remembering he was somewhat decent with one against the Hydra last year.

With no more time to waste, Wes took a deep breath and headed out into the thick of things. He started out through the woods, making sure to branch out from the others. He moved in a forward direction, in what he could only hope was toward the other team's flag. After a minute or so of walking, he found himself in the thicket of the woods. Of course, he couldn't stay out in the open. Someone like Andy or Alex would be on him in the blink of the eye if he was openly visible. So he needed to be somewhere that he could see everything, where he could be mildly camouflaged.

He found a large evergreen tree, and slowly walked up to its truck. From only a few feet away the stalk of the tree is hidden behind the pine needles, but once under it you could see all the way up to the top. Wes sighed, slipping the spear between his back and the shield. "You can climb a tree with one hand," he muttered quietly to himself reassuringly as he wiped his palm off on his jeans.

It wasn't the most graceful thing ever, but Wes managed to ascend the tree. It took a couple slips and broken branches to fully get the swing of something so simple, that usually called for all four appendages. Once he was high enough up, he could see far enough back to their own flag, and forward to what he could presume was either the middle, or just beyond. He adjusted himself on the branch until he was steady enough to allow movement without throwing off his balance. His fingers then snapped a couple small twigs to allow for better visibility without removing his camouflage.

Then he waited. At least up high, Wes was out of reach of most monsters. He was at a good height to where he could jump down to help a team mate, or stop an opponent... Or try at least.

As Theo talked, assigning a plan of attack and defense for them, Andy did her best to make her rounds to her fellow teammates. Each one she gave a gentle tap on the shoulder, giving them some basic, light weight leather armor and such. It wasn't so much for going against the other campers, but for the monsters. She wasn't exactly sure what they would come across in the wounds, but a little extra protection never hurt any body.

She returned to Mason's side just as Theo finished. To no surprise, herself and Mason would be attackers. It made sense, and honestly, Andy would probably go crazy if she was told to stand around and play defense. She wasn't, by any means, a defensive player. Her mind was hard wired to attack, attack, attack. Luckily as well, Theo's mind was where hers was in the scheme of partnering up. That always seemed to be a strong strategy, especially when the two had varying abilities and skills which made them strong compliments.

"Couldn't have said it any better," Alex chimed in, catching Andy's attention. "I just want to add. No doubt others will want to take out the beasts, but we could use them couldn't we? Mason." Andy shifted uncomfortably where she stood, but only slightly. Something about actually hearing Alex say his name heightened her senses. Ever since everything that happened last year, she could't help but get tense whenever whenever Ajax or Alex mention Mason, or vice versa. "He could tame the beasts, or would that be considered as cheating? I mean, Alaric did say we can use our powers."

"Let's not pretend cheating matters to you," Mason replied coldly.

Andy parted her lips to reply, but thankfully Kalani chimed in in her own chipper way that quickly changed the tone. "I mean, I could always help with that? Since I'm pretty sure my abilities would come in handy to get them onside. Just a thought."

"And I can try. We can try," Mason added.

Andy nodded her head in acknowledgement. "I think that's a good idea. I can conjure up cages and help distract or corral them. I'd rather not kill them unless absolutely necessary. Mason was able to calm a minotaur last year," she added while motioning her hand toward him. "And Wes was able to make giants chase after their own kind of out obsession. Your powers could be really useful, Kalani." Andy smiled toward her.

"I could help Dominick and Finn, I can help heal wounds if they need, or blind enemies if they need that advantage....but if you need me to help follow the others and keep their wounds clear I can help," Nik offered.

Andy looked over toward Theo who was already partnering up and planning his strategy with Elias. And Alex was gone almost instantly. So, she took a step toward Nik with a smile. "I think defense is perfect. If anyone gets hurt, we'll have them retreat back to the flag. If things get... Intense, I'll shoot up a flare or something." She smiled, giving him a pat on the shoulder before she returned back to Mason.

"Let's go." Mason gestured toward her and she hurried to his side. As they started into the wood, her right hand hovered around her throwing knives while her left was slightly extended before her, ready to use magic at a moment's notice. They hadn't been walking for long when Mason spoke up. "So what happened last night huh?" His words took her by surprise, causing Andy to nearly trip over her own feet. This was probably the worst time for small talk, especially about that. Her heart began to pound in her chest as she swallowed hard, looking over at him.

If I wanted to conquer someone in the sac, Iā€™d do that too, Andy!"

Andy froze where she stood, her mouth a gape as the true sting of his words hit her like a knife in the gut. Part of her wanted to just walk away and not humor whatever Mason decided to be mad at her about this time. Part of her wanted to defend herself. And another part wanted to punch him. She could feel the anger boiling up in her, the anger and the pain. Her emotions have been so raw and unfiltered since the new year and camp. She found it more and more difficult to sensor herself or suppress her anger.

But she couldn't stop herself before the words fell from her lips like poison. "Conquer me? Is that what I am? A conquest?" Andy could feel the tears stinging her eyes when she finally spoke. "Well, which is it Mason? Am I supposed to be a virgin saint or a conquest?" She stepped in front of him, making direct and unwavering eye contact. "What fucking right do you have to judge me?" Andy jabbed her index finger in the air toward him with each word.

She took a deep breath as a silent tear ran down her cheek as she searched his face for an answer. Mason was supposed to be her best friend, yet he judged her and got mad at her every turn she made. There was no way to win. "Where in the hell is this coming from!? Why do you evenā€”" Then Andy froze, the realization hitting her over the head like a baseball bat. Jealousy. She exhaled a sharp breath and sniffled back the tears. "Gods, do you know how hard it is to tell how you feel about me? If you hate or love me? You are always mad at me. Nothing I do is good enough for you. You don't trust me. And you talk down to me as if it's only a matter of time before I turn against you and leave you!"

Andy took a step toward him, trying to lower her voice to not give away their location. But, in the same breath the deeper in anger she fell, the more vulnerable she became and the more truths came out. "I have never betrayed you and I won't. I care so much about you, Mason. I love you. You are one of the most important people to me... and you don't even care." Her hands fell to her sides as she shrugged, exasperated. "I guess you have your answer then, don't you? Maybe if you learned to trust me and open up to me..." her voice trailed off. It'd be you, not Ajax. Her eyes fell. She didn't need to say it.

"You know what, fuck this." He put his hand in the air out of frustration, then turned and left in a cloud of smoke.

Andy nodded her head, tucking her lips between her teeth as she nodded her head. She took in a shaky breath, raising her hands to wipe her eyes, but they froze as they covered her face. She just wanted to melt where she stood. Right then and there, she had half a mind to rip off her colors and storm off. She could get pretty far away before anyone noticed she left. Her fingers pinched the fabric of her colors as she looked down at it. Just as she was about to tear it free she heard footsteps approaching from behind and a deep guttural growl rumble in the foliage to her left.

"I'll hang back, just in case any stragglers get through."

Sylas quirked a brow at the comment. He didn't have to know Ajax well to know that it was out of character. From the stories he'd heard about Mr. Perfect-pants, he was always one of the first people to charge into battle right alongside his warrior woman that Mason was secretly lusting after. Yet, here stood the mighty Ajax himself, opting to stay back to take care of stragglers? Pathetic. This was the guy that all these campers looked up to? A man who out of no where loses his courage and pusses out? Of course, now this meant Sylas wouldn't be fighting alongside him during capture the flag. But, with the right about of leverage it could be the pinnacle catalyst to cause a turning point in power at this retched camp. Small moments like these cause a snow ball effect.

"Can we join hands for a moment or touch? Itā€™s not to pray, I promise you.ā€ He glanced over at the redhead, and at first he was apprehensive. But, regardless if he desired to or not, he had to keep up the pretenses. So, he extended his right hand and placed it on the shoulder of the person closest to him. Then like a wave that washed over him, his senses were heightened almost like a drug but without the crash.

Sylas went over to the provided weapons, glancing over the options. Unlike most of the others, he went for a more subtle, underestimated piece. A sword that looked similar to a pirate's or a fencing sword. Small, thin but light weight. It didn't look like it could do much damage, but a cut in the right place is always deadly. Unlike more common swords, one like this is light which makes for quicker and more agile movements. Speed is always crucial in battle.

With weapon in hand, Sylas walked over to Duke and Ajax just as Trinity headed off in one direction. "I guess I'll take the left side," he said while pointing his hand in the direction he intended on traveling. His gaze drifted over toward Ajax. "If you change your mind, just follow the West side of the forest. I'm going to try and flank." He gave them both a pat on the shoulder before he disappeared into the thick of the woods.

It seemed, so far, luck was on Sylas' side as he traveled through the trees with haste. He hadn't come across any of the beasts, although he heard a couple in the distance as they broke twigs under foot or started their pursuit of another camper. On occasion, he'd see a brief glimpse of a Spartan zipping through the tree line, heading in the opposite direction toward his team's flag. But he ignored it. Ajax was there to take care of stragglers after all. And if he failed? Well, wouldn't that be an interesting development.

Sylas' footsteps slowed when he heard two voices in the direction he approached. He came up behind a boulder, slowly and cautiously leaning his head around the large object. His gaze was met by the sight of Mason and the back of a brunette's head. Due to the fact Mason wasn't trying to kill the girl, he could only assume it was Andy. Making sure he was out of sight, he held his hand in Andy's direction and closed his eyes. Instead of feelings of anger, he let despair, worthlessness and dread flow from himself and into the woman. He didn't wish to aid her anger at Mason, but make herself worth fade. Like planting a seed, he placed feelings of hopelessness, and longing... Longing for Mason's approval and fear of losing him.

Giving it a moment or two after Mason left, Sylas held his sword at the ready and came out in the opening. He stopped a few feet behind her, holding the tip of his blade toward the back of her neck. His body tensed slightly, when he too heard the growl that came from the left. "Sounds like we're not alone," he replied with a smugness. "I give it... 30 seconds before whatever that is decides to join us. So, how about you hand over your colors now and make it easier on the both of us."

Theo listened intently as a few others called out their suggestions. He was generally fine with people doing what they were comfortable with. He watched as Mason and Andy went off ahead of the others. Harleen sped off. The flag was hidden, and the defenses were mostly set. Theo looked over his shoulder as Elias approached him.

"You call out the path. You know this camp better than I do. I'm gonna go spear and shield should let be be aggressive and defensive. I get outnumbered I should still be able to maneuver them to give you a clean shot. While we're heading out who are their best fighters on their side that you know of and any quick tips on how they fight."

Theo scratched his head as they started moving weaving through the trees quickly but quietly. "If we stay through this stretch of the woods, it bends around the center of camp. It'll take us up a hill that will give us a solid vantage point to devise a strategy from. We both know I want a crossbow," Theo let out a little chuckle. But so do the "game makers" and the other team. If we see one we have to be weary that it could be some form of a trap," Theo slowed his walk and his speech to make sure Elias got the next part clear. "I need you to very careful until I have a bow though. I have seen your sister fight and I know it can be hard for your lineage to resist running full steam into a fight, but I need you out there. I can fight well with any weapon, but I'm not a true threat to the other team until I have a bow. Once we found one, you can be more aggressive. I can cover your back," Theo patted him on the back just before bending down to pick up an axe he spotted leaning against a random tree.

He offered it to Elias before answering the last part of Elias' question, "As far as their fighters go, I'm sure you know your sister is a beast. Probably fights much like you. Duke is a handful. He is very smart, and his abilities include playing with fire. It is dangerous to fight him at any range. Ajax is obviously a great fighter, if not over aggressive. Emery will be a lot like me. If you can catch her in close range, you can handle her easy. Wes can't really fight, but he is smart, innovative, and has the ability to manipulate emotions. Don't underestimate him... other than that I don't know much about the others. I think that is one good thing about this exercise. We get to see where the new campers shine. So shine for me Elias." Theo kept his eyes ahead as he spoke. He knew he was approaching disputed territory. He could see the approaching terrain in his mind as he had memorized the camp to a tee. He knew there was an upcoming clearing, and he stuck his hand out to signal to Elias to stop. Theo crept to the edge of the clearing, not a sound coming from his footsteps. He let a sliver of a smile overtake his calm countenance. There it was, a nice sleek, gleaming black crossbow along with a quiver of arrows. Theo could not help but notice the different colored bands around the tail of each arrow in the quiver. It was like they had left this bow just for him considering his personal quiver contained his own set of specialized arrows. He saw several red banded arrows. Theo knew they must be explosive arrows. He saw green banded arrows. In his set, this signified arrows that deployed a net to trap whatever Theo was shooting at. He even saw blue banded arrows. These arrows were specially made for long distance shooting. Theo was almost salivating over the prospect of wreaking havoc with the bow.

But as usual, there was a catch. Right beside the arrow and the quiver was a stalking ugly beast. He motioned to Elias, pointing at him to go around and hit the beast from the side as Theo went for the bow. He waited on Elias to get into position, and then Theo stepped out into the clearing.

Well, sitting around and waiting for people to cross his path was less than thrilling for Wes. He lost track of how much time he spent high up in the branches, yet no one crossed his path. He'd come to accept that the chances of him capturing the flag were slim to none. But, he also felt like sitting around there doing nothing wasn't helpful either. Maybe if he were lucky, he could get a person's colors or two before his own is taken and he gets knocked out.

With a sigh, Wes slid his spear behind him between his back and shield. Then he began a very awkward and clumsy decent down the tree. When he was several feet above the ground, he lost his grasp and subconsciously his mind tried to make his right arm grab a branch to stable himself. But like a phantom limb, he felt the movement but nothing happened beside his nub flailing as he fell backwards, landing with a thud on his back.

Wes let out a loud gasp as the wind was knocked out of him. His hand clutched to his chest as he remained on the ground. After a long moment, he groaned, staring up at the large tree above him. He could now cross climbing a tree off his short list of talents.

Sounds of rustling in near by bushes and the breaking of twigs caught his attention, when he'd much rather lay on the ground until the game was over. He propped himself up on his elbow, but froze when he went to stand, feeling a breath exhaled on the back of his neck. Trying not to make any sudden movements, he slowly glanced over his shoulder to be met by a large snout less than a foot from his face. He gave a nervous laugh as the beast growled at him. Wes held up his hand in an innocent, surrendering manner.

"Easy now," he said in a soft, hushed tone. Wes made sure each word was smooth like silk, slipping through his lips similar to a siren song. But his subtle tactics didn't seem to work. Thankfully the beast didn't attack him, but it didn't stop growling or loosen its intimidating stance.

As calmly as he could manage, Wes shifted so that he was in a crouching position, with his hand still held out. He made sure not to make direct eye contact as he slowly extended his hand toward the creature. "Now, that's a good boy," he said, inching closer to the hound. But the second boy left his lips, the beast's nails dug into the dirt and a deep growl rubbled in its throat. "Girl, girl... That's what I meant."

Wes took a deep breath, turning his gaze toward the hound's. He extended the fingers on his hand as his palm was near the animals snout. While he spoke, he allowed loving, caring and protective emotions flow into the animal. "Of course you're a girl. You're too pretty to be a boy." He smiled slightly as he compelled her to concede and relax.

It was gradual. Wes could see the tension leave the hound as her growl slowly grew quieter and quieter until it all together stopped. When she seemed calm, he made the final move, placing his hand upon her snout. With that touch, a warmth spread out from his hand into the animal. And then, with just a brush of his thumb against her fur, her backside fell to the ground with a thud as she sat down. The hound's tail began to wag as she placed a rather large, sloppy, smelly lick across his face.

Wes sighed, allowing himself to fall to his knees and relax. He scratched the large beast's head and rubbed her ears. "That's a good girl." There was a sound not too far off of a twig snapping. Like a switch, the beast's ears perked up and she moved in front of Wes protectively, growling in the direction of the sound.

Wes hopped to his feet, quickly moving beside the hound, placing his hand on her back. "It's alright." He then carefully climbed onto her back. Once situated, he leaned forward, patting her side. "Wanna help me find a flag?" Her tail wagged affectionately as she awaited his direction. "Alright girl, lets go." Without a moments hesitation, the beast barreled off into the woods with Wes on her back, heading in the direction of the Spartan's flag.

"Sounds like we're not alone," Andy heard from behind her. "I give it... 30 seconds before whatever that is decides to join us. So, how about you hand over your colors now and make it easier on the both of us." The voice was familiar, but not familiar enough for her to place who it was. She stood still while her right hand slowly moved toward her thigh holster. As she felt the prick of a sword against the back of her neck, she moved into action. In a swift move, her right hand grabbed a throwing knife between her index and middle finger. She spun on her heels, grabbing his blade in her left hand, yanking it to the side, aiming it away from her.

Andy came to face her attacker, Sylas. She raised her right hand, pressing the knife to his throat while she held a firm grip on his sword, keeping it at her side. "Didn't Mason tell you, him and I are basically masters at fighting beasts." She tapped her knife against his neck while smiling. "I'm content as a cucumber waiting until it makes its presence."

Sylas took a threatening step forward so that his chest was against Andy's as he glanced down at her. He smirked a sadistic grin, tauntingly pressing his neck back against her blade. After all, him and Mason agreed to be allies... Not friends. There were no boundaries set when it came to the daughter of Hecate. He was itching at the chance to see what she was worth, to see what the deal was with this seemingly ordinary girl. Sylas wanted to size her up, and if roughing her up got him bad standings with Mason, well so be it. After all, he wasn't here to make friends anyways.

"So... That hard way it is."

Sylas didn't hesitate. He grabbed Andy's wrist, pulling it away from his throat while he yanked his sword from her grasp. If she didn't know better, she would have thought he sliced open her hand. She glanced down for just a moment finding her palm unharmed, yet the pain continued. Enchanted weapons, she reminded herself. When she brought her attention back to Sylas, he was swinging his sword through the air, the blade aiming right for her neck. Andy stepped back, bending backwards. She watched as the sword passed overhead, nearly clipping the tip of her nose.

Andy quickly stood upright and threw her right foot into his chest. The momentum sent Sylas stumbling backwards. While off kilter, she threw a knife at his right hand. When the blade hit him, he winced, dropping his sword. She then dove forward, reaching for his colors but just before she could grab it, Sylas grabbed her wrist and twisted it. The uncomfortable position and force of his hold knocked her down on her knees. While she was down, he raised his fist and slammed it down on her, smashing into her nose.

When he went to punch her again, Andy moved her head out of the way, sweeping her foot behind his legs. Once she knocked him to the ground, she raised her hand to her nose, wincing when she touched it. As she pulled her hand away, she looked down seeing her fingers covered in blood. Something in her gut told her that Sylas had no intention in keeping this fight as a friendly spar. Before he could attempt to get back up, Andy quickly moved on top of him. She elbowed him once in the gut and upper cut him in the jaw. Then she grabbed his hands, pinning him down on the ground.

Sylas chuckled. "You have some fight in you." Even pinned, he threw his head forward, slamming his forehead against her nose again. He could feel the bone in her nose snap on collision. But it wasn't enough to throw her off of him, if anything it just made her angrier. "It all makes sense now."

"What are you talking about?" Andy hissed, digging her knee into his abdomen.

"I get it now... What Ajax and Mason see in you."

The comment made her freeze. Andy could feel the blood dripping down her lips from her broken nose as she stared down at Sylas. It was one thing when this was in her thoughts, but hearing someone else... Someone who knows nothing about her, or them, say what has been nagging at the back of her head... It twisted her gut. Before she could say anything else, she heard a scream in the distance that sounded like Alex's. The noise distracted her enough for Sylas to overpower her, flipping her over so that he was now pinning her.

That must have been the end of their 30 seconds because the beast burst out of the bushes and charged for them. Andy watched it get closer when the idea hit her. Just at the right moment, she focused her power on Sylas, throwing him in the air into the wake of the beast. The hound rammed into him and slammed him into a tree. With him distracted, Andy jumped to her feet and ran off into the woods in the direction of the scream. She wasn't the type to jump at helping Alex, but she knew what her screams meant... Mason and that meant Ajax wouldn't be far behind.

Andy sprinted through the woods, jumping over tree roots and ducking under tree branches. As she ran, her hand would raise up to wipe blood that dripped from her nose, wincing whenever she bumped the tender bone. It wasn't long before she came out into a small clearing. From the distance, it looked like everyone was calm, until Ajax moved toward Mason, Alex took the opportunity to move on him. Without hesitation, Andy ran over toward them, putting herself between Alex and Mason.

Alex's fist nearly hit Mason, and herself on recoil. Andy turned to face Mason, but with her attention on him she wasn't able to see Alex thrashing behind her as Ajax held her back. As she writhed in her brother's hold, one of Alex's kicks slammed into Andy's jaw. The forced knocked her off balance, causing her to stumble into Mason. Her left hand stabled herself against her friend, while her right hand raised to hold her jaw as she glanced over her shoulder at Alex with wide eyes.

"How about you tell everyone the truth?" Alex shouted like a mad woman. "Tell them what really happened, you piece of shit!"

Fed up everything, Andy turned around to face Alex. "Will you ever learn to stop accusing people of things before you have proof?" She shrugged her shoulders, sniffling from her bloody nose. "What has Mason supposedly lied about? There is nothing to lie about. You murdered Jennova... In cold blood, without any proof that she did what you claimed she did." She motioned toward Mason. "He has every right to want you dead. You have no idea what it is like to have lost a sibling... He has to live everyday with her murderer right in front of him. Do you think that's easy?" Andy cocked her head to the side.

She was tired of being the nice guy, never speaking her mind. She always tried to stop the fighting and kept her opinions to herself. But, she couldn't any longer. "This all," Andy motioned her hands toward all of them. "Is your fault... Two of the most important people in my life, can't stop trying to kill each other because of you." She sighed, shaking her head slightly. "The world doesn't revolve around you, Alex. Maybe you should think about that next time, before you try to kill someone else."

Her gaze drifted toward Ajax, a soft sigh escaping her lips. "She's never going to learn from her mistakes if you keep helicoptering. She made her bed," she said, motioning her hand toward Alex. "Now she has to lie in it." With nothing else to say, Andy wiped her bloody nose on the back of her hand. She slowly pivoted on her heels until she was half turned toward Mason.

Heeding Theo's directions, Sloane lingered back back while everyone quickly split off in their different directions. She glanced around at the other defensive teammates, then at the flag that was out in the open. With a sighed, she grabbed it and looked over toward Ji-hyun. "Neither one of us are... fighters." She rubbed the back of her neck, then motioned her head up in the trees. "If we put the flag high up in the tree, then it might give us enough time to do our... thing before they reach it."

Sloane wasn't a strategist, but it was something. All the offensive people were off doing their thing and who knew what half of the defensive people were doing. So, she took it upon herself to find a home for the flag that at least benefitted herself and Ji-hyun. To the best of her knowledge, the only person on the other team who could fly is Ajax... So, as long as they were prepared for that, the height of the flag would give them both more than enough time for either Ji-hyun to make them pass out or for Sloane to do... Something.

She tucked the flag into the back of her belt and walked over to the tree. "Watch my back?" she asked Ji-hyun before she began ascending the tree. Sloane was by no means the most active, but she made it to the top fairly easy. She found a branch that extended out farther than the others so that the flag would be visible... After all, that was the rule of capture the flag. Once it was secured, she climbed back down to rejoin her teammate.

Sloane dusted off her hands as she stood there awkwardly beside Ji-hyun. She definitely was not the most social person, but in a game like this, she didn't really have a choice. After a moment, she blew air out between her lips and looked over at him. "So... If either you can make them sleep, or I can manipulate their perceived reality... Hopefully that should buy us enough time until someone else grabs their flag. Right?"

Image The one blow to his ribs made Mason cradle his side but before he could lunge back at Ajax something lunged on him. Alex's arm locked around his neck heaving him backwards away from her brother with her on his back and before they got too secure around his neck he threw her off.

Mason advanced towards her. "Enough!" Ajax jumped between them. Mason actually halted to hear out his inspiring speech. His one good reason why they should stop. "This has to stop. Mason, I know you don't like my family, but this is all pointless."

His eyes shifted to Alex who he could tell wanted to go again, the fire and hate practically burning in her eyes. Sure enough the wild thing acted out and Ajax had to hold her back and battle to calm her. Let her try. Mason hadn't had his share of inflicting pain on her yet.
"Mason, listen..."
Alex raced around her brother and swung for him. Mason's head jerked back and went wide eyed, the fist set to connect to his face just missed then Andy was there. As Alex fought with her brother thrashing and kicking, looking like an animal that belonged in an enclosure instead of a girl, she kicked Andy's jaw. Mason caught Andy the same time she was able to steady herself against him and he looked her over checking she was okay before his dark glare moved to Alex.
"How about you tell everyone the truth? Tell them what really happened, you piece of shit!"
Mason took one stomp forward wanting to march up to the girl but Andy was there as a buffer and he pulled himself up short.
"Will you ever learn to stop accusing people of things before you have proof?" Andy said before he could say anything. "What has Mason supposedly lied about? There is nothing to lie about. You murdered Jennova... In cold blood, without any proof that she did what you claimed she did. He has every right to want you dead. You have no idea what it is like to have lost a sibling... With gritted teeth he watched Alex ready to push aside Andy if she lunged again.
"This all," she continued with a gesture to them. "Is your fault... Two of the most important people in my life, can't stop trying to kill each other because of you." He scoffed quietly. That seemed like giving her a bit too much credit. And screw Ajax's importance. "The world doesn't revolve around you, Alex. Maybe you should think about that next time, before you try to kill someone else."
For the most part, he agreed. Minus the civility. Alex didn't deserve it. She was selfish, impulsive and couldn't take responsibility of her own actions or admit she was a murderer.
Andy softened when directing her words to Ajax. She was no less tired of them but she was softer with him. "She's never going to learn from her mistakes if you keep helicoptering. She made her bed, now she has to lie in it."
"Just let it be a death bed, Ajax and we'll move on." He strained to keep his voice even. Mason was dead serious even when he knew it wasn't going to happen. He hated Ajax but he'd leave him be and the camp if he got Alex. "And you, I didn't even tell the whole camp you're a murderous psycho bitch who slaughtered my sister which is the truth." Mason started forward towards Alex. "And I haven't lied to anyone. I never claim to be a saint. Never claim to be a victim." Mason glanced to Andy then back at the Valises. What he was going to say next sounded provoking but it was the truth. "You two can't save anyone. Where's your exes, Ajax? Where's half the campers from last year? Where's your mom, huh? All you do is let people down and they normally pay for your consequences in blood."

Mason ripped off his band and dropped it on the ground, paying one last glance to Andy then took himself to the hall.
Alaric awaited readily with arms crossed and disapproving glare. Mason sighed out knowingly. "Yeah, yeah, I'll do camp maintenance for a week." He probably could have got away from the wrath of staff had it not been within camp activities, his own team and monitored.

Image He had strode on without a scuffle, without a hitch which meant majority of the reds were flanking or prioritized defensive measures. Or if he was really lucky, they were being lazy and slacking on the job though they didn't seem the kind and it was better to assume the reds were being proactive. A simple crack of a twig ahead had him spin into a tree in wait. It's like the wind took on a new form because whatever was approaching was approaching fast but was light. Lighter than a beast, though it wasn't to say the beasts couldn't be light and agile. The shape darted by and Duke quickly sent a ball of flame hurling forward. The flame hit near their feet and raced ahead then circled around them entrapping them in a ring of fire with a hand gesture and Duke ran to see the catch.
Duke puffed lightly coming to a halt and lowered the fierce flames to reveal a dark-haired woman. "Harley," he greeted and gave a court nod. "Didn't keep you waiting too long I hope?" Sometimes Duke lost perspective of what extreme heat was like to others. In fact the vision of her became somewhat distorted through the heat. Duke tightened the circle not allowing the daughter of Hermes room for escape or so much room as to devise an escape plan knowing her strengths were very much in movement, athletics and escapology.

Duke crossed his arms paying a conscious look to their surroundings then locked his eyes back on Harley. "You can give me your band or you can pass out. Torture isn't my thing but I would like to know the Spartan's strategy too." The flame spat near the ankle. Duke rarely bluffed.

She felt her brother's hand squeeze hers, which meant to be his way of quietly telling her to stay calm, but she couldn't stay calm when Andy was talking like she knew Alex, but knew nothing. Mason's words cut the deepest, and she knew that Ajax wouldn't react to them since he knew Mason was only saying it all out of anger and pain. Even there were some truths to it. Alex's eyes began to fill with tears as she hesitated a step forward with her brother holding her hand still.

She went to say what she felt needed to be said, to defend herself, but the words wouldn't come out.

Alex tore off her colors as she walked away, letting the red band fall to the ground. One of her feet stepped on it as she headed to the medical hut. She did not once look back and kept going until she was out of their line of sight.

For the first time, she felt like she didn't belong. This entire world would be better off without you. Mason's right, you are a murderer. You may know that it was Jennova since Mason wouldn't even go that far, and no one else would do it would they? but you still should have been certain it was Jenn who killed her. You're a fool. No one will trust you or even like you again. You'll be alone. Even those you care about will probably turn against you eventually. Even your own brother.

"Shut up" she said to herself whilst gritting her teeth with one hand on the right side of her head.

Once at the hut, she pulled the thin material aside that hung over the doorway, her eyes looking around as she entered. She dropped the material curtain behind her, finding the place luckily empty, and slipped onto the closest bed before she carefully lay herself down on it, turning her back to the door as she slowly curled into a fetus position.

She began to cry into the corner of her pillow, muffling the sounds against the soft cotton.

Everyone would have probably lived if Hades hadn't broken his promise to Zeus. Hopefully, this wasn't going to become the fates of those who were new to Camp. She could not bear any more death to befall them.

Andy wasn't going to stop from saying what she felt she had the right to since it was her opinion and same for Mason, but Ajax wasn't going to let their words bother him like Mason probably hoped. Ajax was much more grounded than that. He had years of training above Alex, so he knew his sister wouldn't be the same. Zeus's anger stirred wildly in her. Was that her fault? no. Every God/Demigod has their strengths, weaknesses, and flaws. Even the children of Aphrodite who had always been painted as perfect in their Greek mythology.

"Shut up." He told Andy before his eyes went back to Mason. His sister had left in a way he didn't expect. Quietly without another chance to get her claws into the both of them. Andy had said what she needed to but was taking it a little too far. Mason was too, but Ajax still remained calm.

"You know that isn't going to happen," he told Mason. There was no chance on Earth, Mount Olympus, or the Underworld of him getting Alex before peace could finally grace their camp. Was that ever even going to happen with Hades lurking among the dead? Mason would have to convince his father to let go of everything he wanted to take from Zeus. For Aeons, the Gods have been trying to kill each other. Zeus has to kill his own father after all since he was eating his own children.

"She may have done something that will never be forgiven, but that is a girl who is longing for the love of her mother, and the attention of her father. She cannot control her anger like I can, and Jennova did not help the situation by being who she was to prove herself to Hades. Mason, your sister would have killed you if it meant to have your father favor her over you. She killed our mother, and if I need to get proof!? then I will. But she had the motive. You, are smarter and have better morals. You would never harm an innocent mortal. You even saved Andy from your own father, so I know that you have emotions worthy of others to care for you. I am not asking you to be my friend, I never would, but I ask you as a brother to let this lie. Not for Alex, not for me, but for the good of the camp. I know the both of you are saying all of this out of anger, so I will let it slide."

Although Wes was heading toward the opponents flag, he wasn't going fast. He constantly kept looking from side to side, hoping not to get hit by any long range weapons. Sure, he was on a beast which you'd think would deter a decent amount of people, but that didn't mean it wouldn't be hard to knock him off with an arrow or spear. But at the same time, it wasn't like he particularly had a plan of action once he got close to the flag. It all depended on who was defending... If they were shit fighters, like himself, he potentially stood a chance. If it was Andy, well he was a goner.

Wes heard what he thought was struggling in the distance. He gently tugged on the beast's main, causing it to slow down and come to a halt. He sat more upright, looking around at the woods that surrounded him. Before his mount could begin to growling, he sent soothing feelings through his hand and into her, not enough so that she wouldn't protect him but enough so that she wouldn't give away their location.

While he was scanning the forest in one direction, he didn't hear someone quickly approaching from the other way. It wasn't brought to his attention until his beast quickly spun around, going into a prone position. Her nails dug deep into the dirt as a terrible growl rumble in her chest. Wes' hand went for his spear, but he froze when he saw the all too familiar blonde standing before him. He quickly lowered his hand to the beast, his touch caressing her while sending caring, protective emotions for Trinity into the hound. "It's ok, girl. She's a friend."

ā€œGod,ā€ Trinity said with relief. Wes didn't know what she was expecting, but by the look of it, she was proud it was him. She stood their, taking a breather but it didn't last long before another growl was heard near by. Wes' hound quickly shifted into a protective stance, preparing to attack. But his beast nor himself were needed as he sat there in awe watching as Trinity made quick work of the another animal.

ā€œOkay,ā€ she sighed and moved to her feet, while Wes sat there with his jaw dropped. He had seen her spar, and glimpses of her in action. But it seemed everyday she still surprised him, in the best ways. ā€œLet's get this over with.ā€

Wes was still silent until his gaze fell to the bleeding wound on her arm. He gave his beast a pat before he slid off her back. "Hold on Wonder Woman." He pulled the empty right sleeve that was tucked into his shirt and ripped it off at the seam. Wes held the fabric between his teeth as he took her hand and raised her arm to inspect the wound. He took the sleeve and wrapped it around her arm, then using his hand and teeth he carefully tied it as a makeshift tourniquet. "Better?" he asked while still holding her hand.

Once she was ready, Wes climbed back onto his beast. When he was securely mounted, he held himself in place by gripping the hound's sides with his legs. Wes then extended his hand out toward Trinity, "Let's go get a flag."

Sylas' eyes widened when Andy threw him into the path of the charging beast. Before he could prepared himself, the large creature slammed into him and tossed him into a tree. With a groan, he moved to his hands and knees, coughing as he tried to regain his breath. He looked over to the side, seeing the beast regain itself quickly and charge toward him once again. There was no time for him to get up and run away. Sylas shut his eyes tightly, turning his head away from the approaching beast. But then there was nothing.

He opened his eyes to find the beast curling in on itself as if being controlled by someone else. Sylas stumbled to his feet, using the tree for support. ā€œNow would be the time to use any nifty skills,ā€ a voice called out to him from beyond the beast.

Sylas didn't waste his time trying to figure out who was helping him or what they were. He quickly limped over to the bushes where Andy tossed his sword. With weapon in hand, a grin graced his lips as he raised it into the air. Then in a single swift moment, he plummeted the blade down into the skull of the beast. When the tip hit the dirt, he groaned, twisting it within the creature until it stopped fighting and the last breath was drawn from it.

He took a deep breath before pulling his sword from the beast, wiping the blade off with his sleeve. Sylas slowly limped around the corpse, coming to find the redhead who had helped him. "You're the last person I expected to show up." He slowly walked over to her. "Have any Spartans crossed your path yet?" He wasn't one for making small talk, nor did he particularly care. But, he needed a moment to regain himself before rushing into anything else. And he wasn't keen on crossing paths with Andy again at the current moment, because he had a feeling that she'd be holding a vendetta toward him for quite some time.

"Just let it be a death bed, Ajax and we'll move on." Mason spoke toward Ajax. Then he directed his words toward Alex. "And you, I didn't even tell the whole camp you're a murderous psycho bitch who slaughtered my sister which is the truth." He moved toward Alex, in front of Andy as she stood there silent just watching. "And I haven't lied to anyone. I never claim to be a saint. Never claim to be a victim."

Andy met Mason's gaze when he looked back toward her. "You two can't save anyone. Where's your exes, Ajax?..." The rest of what he said faded off as Andy focused on those words. As much as she didn't want to admit it, have they saved anyone aside from each other? Mason had saved her countless times. He helped her with the minotaur, went back to the underworld for her, used his wish on her... Had Ajax ever saved her?

Her attention was brought back to the present when she saw Alex walk off. She half expect the girl to lash out at Andy after what she said, but instead she just left. Part of her felt bad but not as much as she was tired of this feud and people thinking Mason is a monster for a rational reaction to his sister being murdered. But what happened next, she didn't expect. Ajax looked right at her and said two simple words, "Shut up."

Just those two words made her jaw drop slightly as she stared at him. Everything Ajax began to say toward Mason was white noise in her ears. Andy was over this... all of it. As they were both distracted, she waved her hand before her making herself become invisible. As she faded from sight her colors fell to the ground where she stood. No longer seen, Andy trudged off toward the main hall. She should of gone to the medical hut but she knew who'd be there and wasn't in the mood to deal with her either.

Once Andy reached the main hall, she walked through the doors and went into the kitchen. She grabbed a kitchen towel and made her way over to the fridge. She took a handful of ice and wrapped it in the towel. With a sigh, she made her way back out onto the porch and took a seat with her feet on the step below her. Andy carefully and slowly raised the ice to her nose, wincing at first from the pressure but allowed the cool to numb the pain.

She shifted so that her elbows rested on her knees while she still held the ice to her nose. Andy stared at her feet as everything began to sink in. How could everything at camp go from fine to hell in the matter of 24 hours? She was never the type of person to lash out or get overly emotional... But then here she was, mad at Ajax for things he did and didn't do in the past, regretting her night with him, furious that a single day can't go by where Ajax and Mason don't try to kill each other... And mad at herself. She was a shit girlfriend and a shit friend. Andy could barely stomach to look at her boyfriend's sister for the past year and Mason has done more for her than anyone at camp.

Andy sighed, pulling the ice away from her face to stare down at the blood stained towel. What was happening to her?

Now it was just a waiting game. Sloane perched herself atop a bolder near the base of the tree where the flag resided. She crossed her legs underneath her frame, resting her hands in her lap. She glanced over toward Ji-Hyun as he leaned against a tree and crossed his arms. "Right," he responded to her comment, glancing around at their surroundings. "I think I can take anyone that gets too close, as long as they don't snap me, as I said before. How far can your, ah, illusions reach? Because, if you could plant a few flags around the area, or even a few of those beasts to keep any approaching Trojan occupied for a little while, it could buy us more time. Or you could just mask our flag from their sight. Is that cheating?"

Sloane glanced down at her hands. "Umm... it's stronger the closer I am to someone. If I could sneak up behind them I could give them the illusion of being robbed of their senses, or an invisible beast or something. If they're too far away... I'll just make them get angry and fight their own teammates." She then looked up at the flag, then back down at him with a slight smile. "And yes, I do believe that would be cheating."

Her gaze fell to her twiddling fingers as Ji-Hyun spoke again. "Sorry. I might be accused of not pulling my weight if I didn't try to make this a little harder for the Trojans. So now that's out of the way - how are you? I don't see you socialising much around camp - can't say the same for your brother." Sloane raised her gaze to meet his as he shrugged. "But I have little to complain about, I could say the same for myself. How are you adjusting?"

"How am I?"' Sloane wasn't used to be asked questions like that. Usually no cared. "My brother and I... Are very different," she concluded from his statement, although it wasn't like that was new information. "But, I'm fine. Camp is... different," she admitted to him. "I'll adjust soon enough." Sloane gave a weak attempt at a smile as her fingers twiddled in her lap.

Image The most sickening part was Ajax pretending to know him. Even when he was deliriously wrong. He really had no idea what had happened to others over the year, including Mason helping his father in the Underworld. And 'as a brother', maybe he should have imagined looking at Alex's killer every day. Stupid prick.

Mason's eyes trailed after Andy walking out of the hall. He had half a mind to accompany her or at least say thank you but it seemed like a bad idea. Right now she probably needed space with too many raw emotions. He wanted to hug her, tell her things were okay and even that Ajax didn't mean to be so harsh and cold towards her. But he sat there in silence instead waiting for the next evicted player to torment.
If either of the pair were in a better mood, Mason might have taunted her that she could get smacked around by a minotaur, giant, stone men, hell, even Hades, but she let some sharp words from Ajax knock her down instead. But the truth was that bothered him. Granted, Mason wasn't the nicest guy on the block but he knew how to treat a girlfriend.

Some time passed and he found sitting in the hall alone was a bore, however, Mason knew it was better than being on the field. There, things could only get worse. He crossed his arms on the table and rested his chin upon them. Maybe a nap would be more beneficial. And if a raging child of Zeus decided to attack him in a vulnerable state then at least his point would be made.

Image Teleportation. Great. He cursed to himself as Harley got away. She was out of sight but definitely not out of mind. Duke had assumed she was someone to talk her time out but it seemed she wasn't feeling conversational enough, or him, stern enough . However, the silver lining was learning from his mistakes. It was almost good in a way to misjudge her capabilities and personality. Good for her anyway...

Duke continued marching onward, encountering a trap or two laid out in the battlefield by a well-hidden trigger plate, and truly he admired the setup to some degree. Something worth tipping his hat to: Beasts, traps, teamwork, opponent demigods, a great challenge all-in-all.

These thoughts and little admirations preoccupied Duke until he spotted trouble. More specifically a duo. Lise and McKenna. Maybe he could take one at a time, but both seemed a high-demand. McKenna could take his fire blows for Lise and Lise could turn invisible while he battled his sister. Lise was an expert in strategy; the map, calculation and conclusion quickly drawn from her. Add McKenna's own smarts to the mix and it was safe to say the situation looked grim.
"Congratulations girls, you make quite the team,"
he admitted. Duke slowly rose his hands in the air in surrender and dropped to his knees. The Trojan band was theirs to take.
Come on, Lise, feed your ego. Duke was ready, even if it was McKenna that approached, he knew his only chance was to grab at that moment of weakness and strike fast.

"From what? It was just a scratch," Trinity responded once Wes had finished addressing her wound. The makeshift bandage wasnā€™t perfect or pretty, but it did the job. Sure, it wasnā€™t a deadly wound or anything like that. But, that didnā€™t mean Wes enjoyed seeing her bleed. He usually wasnā€™t much help, more of a hinderance, but at least this was something he could help with. Small, but it was something.

After he had mounted his beast and offered his blonde partner in crime his hand, Trinity stared between him and the hound. ā€œIā€¦ā€ Wesā€™ brows furrowed as she seemed to be apprehensive. "I don't think that's a good idea. I've got like....its cousin's blood on me," she muttered.

Wes sighed, rolling his eyes in a teasing manner. When Trinity called the beast an it a gentle growl rumbled in the houndā€™s throat. "She," he corrected, then held up his index finger. "Hold up, It was you who told me to use my abilities, blondieā€¦ And now that I haveā€¦" Wesā€™ voiced trailed off as he let his hand fall to the beastā€™s neck, petting it softly. There was no winning with Trinity.

"I promise I'll be beh-" Trinity started before the sound of something off in the distance cut her off. Wesā€™ beast dug her claws into the dirt, lowering her body toward the ground ready to pounce. She growled, sniffing and scanning the tree line around them. "I'll catch up," she said toward him in a hushed tone. Before Wes could reply she was off investigating the noise.

The little voice in Wesā€™ head said something along the lines of ā€™Go, Wes. She can take care of herself and your one-armed self will just get in the way.ā€™ But did he listen to that? Nope. But instead of following after her, he held his ground. He figured either someone as clumsy as himself was trying to run from him and his beastā€¦ Well, mostly the beast, Wes wasnā€™t much of a threat. Or it was a diversion to distract or separate them.

After a few moments of weighing his options, Wes opted to hold his ground where he was. Itā€™d be easiest for Trinity to find him. And, he didnā€™t want to piss her off by following herā€¦ orrrrr go too far away so that he was unable to help if needed. He adjusted himself on top of the beast, then reached over his back and grabbed his spear. As he readied himself, Wes felt his beast stir beneath him. Even if he wanted to follow after Trin, the creature didnā€™t. Something about her wanted to stay right where they wereā€¦ That wasnā€™t good.

Evelynā€™s eyes narrowed at his comment, no doubt she wasnā€™t thrilled at the first words to come out of Sylasā€™ mouth. But did he care? Part of it was out of pride. It was below him to thank anyone, especially a woman, for helping him. Did he ask for help? No. If he died? Well, so be it. But, he wouldnā€™t have died.

"Iā€™m going to translate that to thank you."

Ah, she was smarter than she looked. There was no way the words would cross his lips and Evelyn didnā€™t seem like she expected it either. He walked in step with her deciding itā€™d probably be better if they stayed grouped up, at least for the time being. But his steps were slow as the pain in his leg flared whenever he put weight on it. Sylas wasnā€™t in a rush to go chasing after the flag. He was in the game for the blood and battle, not glory. Glory is for the weak who need reassurance.

"No. Things have been quiet for me," she replied to his question. It wasnā€™t surprising. Itā€™s not like they were all guaranteed to have run ins with the other team or beasts. Plus, large groups attracted more attentionā€¦ Look at Ajax, Alex, Mason and Andy. Case and point.

"So in future, for you to avoid disappointment again, do I let you become a beast's chew toy?"

Sylas quirked a brow, turning his head toward her slightly. For some reason, whenever people seemed unafraid or not effected by a glimpse at his true self, he always became intrigued. "I do prefer my head attached to my shoulders," he first replied with a slight sarcastic tone. Then after a moment, he let his eyes look forward while he took on a more serious tone. "I wouldnā€™t blame youā€¦ or hold some grudge if you left me to die."

He glanced over at her briefly then continued. "Everyone at this camp is so worried about being a hero. Save a life. Do the heroic thing. No matter the consequencesā€¦ Sometimes the braver thing to do is to not be a hero. Whatā€™s the point if itā€™d get yourself killed in the process?"

Sylas shrugged his shoulders. It was the raw truth. Heroes are dangerousā€¦ Some people are beyond saving. Helping them would only get yourself killed in the process. Call it selfish, but selflessness is weakness. Heroes canā€™t make a difference when they are dead. "The drowning man will always drag someone down with him."

Andy sat on the steps to the main hall until the ice in her rag melted, dripping blood stained water down her forearm as she held it to her face. It was surprising. She expected to see more campers eliminated, doing their walk of shame to the hall. But she only saw a few stragglers. At least no one tried to talk to her. She was grateful for thatā€¦ But at the same time, she would have been happy with someone distracting her.

When her nose had long stopped bleeding and the coolness of the rag turned lukewarm, Andy finally stood. She slowly ascended the stairs and went back into the hall. She froze for a minute in the doorway when her gaze met Ajaxā€™s. Then not a moment after they met, Andyā€™s head fell with her eyes locked on her feet as she beelined for the kitchen.

She tried her best to rinse the blood from the rag, but once she realized it was a lost cause, Andy just tossed it into the trash. With a sigh she looked up into the mirror. It could have been worstā€¦ Definitely could have been better but Andy still looked like Andy. The bridge of her nose was swollen and covered in a field of purple and blue that branched out beneath her eyes. But it wasnā€™t crooked, which luckily meant it wouldnā€™t need to be re-broken. It was just ugly. She could live with ugly.

Andy had half a mind to leave the hall and spend the remainder of the day in her cabin. She was prideful, and didnā€™t feel like dealing with anyone. But the part of her that wanted the comfort of a friend outweighed her stubbornness and pride. With a sigh, she weaved her way through the tables, her feet subconsciously carrying her over toward Masonā€™s table.

She slowly moved herself into the seat beside Mason. Andy didnā€™t say anything or even look over to meet his gaze. After a long moment of silence, she let herself lean against him, resting her head on his shoulder. "ā€¦ Your new friend fucked up my face," Andy finally said, barely louder than a whisper. It wasnā€™t much, but it broke the silence.

"You do know you're allowed to create experiences apart from your brother?ā€ Ji-hyun said gently. The comment took Sloane a little by surprise, causing her brows to furrow slightly. "You're allowed to be your own person, even while you're with him.Ā EspeciallyĀ when you're with him."

He then paused briefly. Maybe it was to check her reaction, but Sloane didnā€™t say anything. She remained silent, just looking toward Ji-hyun as he finished. "Anyway, I'm just speaking from personal experience. I have an older brother - for the first decade of my life I wanted to be just like him, wanted to do everything he did, until I got down to figuring out who I was when he wasn't around. I know a little about getting your identity mixed up with your siblingā€™s.

"Just my two cents."

"I donā€™t want to be anything like my brother," Sloane snapped, nearly talking over him. The moment after the words left her lips she winced, instantly wanting to take it back and regretting her tone with Ji-hyun. She didnā€™t mean to be rude, but being compared to her brother turned her stomachā€¦ And terrified her. Her gaze fell her to her hands while her voiced grew quiet. "ā€¦Sorry."

Sloane was silent for a long moment. She knew Ji-hyun was only trying to help. From what she could tell he seemed like the kind of person who never tried to put a toe out of orderā€¦ The type that couldnā€™t harm a fly. She sighed softly. "Itā€™s complicatedā€¦" She chewed on her lip while tapping her finger tips on her leg. "But Iā€™m not like my brother." Thatā€™s all she could say. Sloane always had to be careful with her words, especially where her brother was concerned. Not only for her own safety but for others as well. It was best no one knew the truthā€¦ This facade Sylas created hid his true monster, and if that mask kept it at bay then sheā€™d prefer it remained.
