o d d i t i e s x // xHis Romanian accent comes out slightly at times. Scars down his back from whippings.

a p p e a r a n c e x // xDuke can often come off as stern and intimidating with his solid build and sharp features and usually serious attitude. He has an even stubble now, making him appear even more of a man and oldie on camp. He is firmly sculptured from head to toe but can bury it in looser, generally darker clothing if not in his tank shirts and working in his warehouse, which he often is. As such, his body can often harvest beads of sweat and ash.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
xxxxxxxxxxxxx Calculating xx Brave xx Practical xx Guiding x

Duke is a stern individual. He often anticipates and calculates people and their motives and how dangerous they can be to the camp. It can make him seem overbearing at times but better that than any hostile surprises. He only has the best interest at heart. Beyond all the brooding, and the work-orientated man, he's a decent guy and doesn't have a rude comment to mutter. Brutally honest more likely, but not deliberately harmful.

[Another para para paragraph about loyalty and bravery.]

While Duke is happy to possess such intelligence accounting towards his observation skills, ability to calculate and the gift of insight, seeing situations as others may not, the truth is he's still a brawn in a lot of ways. Not just in figure and physical strength but in beliefs. Duke has little to no tolerance when it comes to whingers. As a man that's down to earth and highly action-based, he cannot see why others don't change something they don't like when there is always something people can do about it. This can often be expressed in a thick layer of sarcasm, bluntness or outright blind siding them. But if someone were to endure his snark and ask for help, they would certainly receive it.

Most of him operates by never surrendering, never backing down, taking action, and being productive. Duke himself is always aiming to better himself by training physically and testing the limits of what he can create. Without effort or risk, there can be no progress.

H I S T O R Y

Duke's mother died when he was very young. She was accused of witchcraft and eloping with one that could control fire and heat and seemed to be generations ahead with his inventions. Which was just as big as a crime to the skiddish people of the town. But she knew this barbaric witchhunt was after her and would pursue Duke too because they feared something they could not understand. So she passed him to the care of her sister.

With his aunt, Duke had to become the man of the house at a young age, and it wasn't just something he felt he had to do but something he was relied on and expected to do. His aunt worked as an exotic dancer to keep a steady income and fell pregnant with twins to a deadbeat father. Then, she fell into the influence of drugs because of stress or a lack of worth. Her addiction and income kept them barely afloat and some days she'd bring men over. Whether that was for bonus income or something else to relieve and forget the stress, he didn't know and he didn't want to know. Duke had to promote himself to bodyguard, carer to his cousins and financial keeper. The duties of a man were something he had to quickly take up.

He had high moral of discipline and respect to his single, busy aunt so followed any order she gave like an obedient dog. Camille needed what help she could get. Besides, she was always a little jumpy and worried outside her job, and as time grew, feared Duke's judgement. But he never did judge her, only hated that she had to return to her job where there was constant risk of low-lives and fanatics creeping on her with hungry eyes and touches. All the peace and discipline of a good solider went out the window when she returned with bruises and cuts and a tremor one night. He begged and pleaded for her to tell him who did it to her, but she didn't supply that information. Not because she couldn't confide in him but because she knew his true heritage and didn't want him being exposed.

Her little plan fell apart relatively quickly when Duke did some digging and found the assaulter. In the moment, Duke couldn't help himself and did give him a burn which led to a new commotion of witches still existing.

It never occurred to her that there was never an introduction on her behalf. So, when Penelope inquires as to what her name is, she popped off her best mimicry of a smile that she could muster. "You may call me Rae. Just Rae, not Reagan or anything else. Short and sweet,"then she laughed, but it was only because she is probably the only one to find her own wry jest the least bit funny, "I would say like me, but my mother says I am just short - sweet would be a far stretch." She'd shrug at that and waited for Theo to settle his butt down on a log.

As Cherise left and Penelope became preoccupied with a worrisome Iliana, she turned her sights back to Theo. He's intoxicated, and she can tell. Like her brother, she is imbued with the powers of observations. "You know, a pretty smile like yours should never end up alone at the end of a party like this. I imagine you could pick which ever one of these guys you would want," he complimented her. Rather, used a silly pick-up line of which was unnecessary, but he didn't need to know that. She liked to hear the many ways men try to woo their potential interests, whether they were inebriated or not.

In the meantime, whilst she allowed him to pull off all of the moves that make him feel - well, himself, she started to pick at and eat her burger. She had sat down a while ago, and she felt comfortable enough to utterly invade any and all of his personal space. If it weren't for the lack of every man in camp coming for her, one would almost surmise that she was an Aphrodite child. She threw her long limbs onto his lap, and they were bare and and smooth to the touch. If anyone saw anything else under the skirt, she didn't care. No shits given. No modesty. Rae was Rae, sneak peaks of the undercarriage and all. At least she crossed her legs at the ankles, so that had to count for something.

Mother didn't like her modern woman tendencies - but what do millennia old goddesses know about the freedom of a woman's sexuality anyway?

Her eyes caught that bit of disdain from Theo that followed the passing of the bottle to Trinity. She looked back at the blond with a canted head before her attention turned back to her potential bedfellow. "Interesting that you find my smile pretty. No one has ever told me that before. However, you are correct - I could." She makes a point by parting her lips and slowly slipping in her index finger, since she got ketchup on it. When she pulled it back out, it was a slow gesture and done so in a way that dramatically accentuated the thickness of her lips because she didn't want to ruin her lipstick. There was a specific second in which her eye caught Sylas, and then even Duke and Pete. It was purposefully suggestive.

Once the finger popped out, she looked back at Theo and smiled. "Tell me, because I am curious. Who would be your ideal closet mate?" It didn't seem like he had a girlfriend, but with the way he looked at Trinity, she thought that there was a chance. Rae loved boys, but she didn't need boys that came with female counterparts - either in the realm of interest, relationships, or otherwise. She needed the fun, but not the drama.

* * *

ImageMeanwhile, the original Best Friends Forever, Artemis and Apollo, watched from afar. They were just having some light-hearted fun - a stroll through the camp while the Demigods played in closets. They were both amused to death, and that was probably because they were just a little bored.

Apollo looked over at Artemis, "Are you going to tell Rae and Theo that they are siblings?" He inquired curiously, placing his hands at the small of his back.

She laughed and looked over at him, "And ruin the fun that will be them discovering it all on their own? Nope!" The pair was close by, but they were not going to be seen if they did not want to be. Perhaps their children might feel their presence in some way, but they were content to remain distant observers - as they both naturally were. "This will be a good lesson for both of my promiscuous children, I think."

He draped an arm over her closest shoulder and smirked, "And what lesson would that be, old friend?"

She grinned mischievously, "That these campers need to start asking their peers about who is birthed from what god or goddess. They will never make this mistake again."

He could get behind that idea. "When will you stop them?"

She sighed, "I am really hoping that I won't have to, but the way it's going... I will intervene if they reach certain... What is it that the humans say?"

"Bases."

She nodded at that even if it was not a well understood concept to her, "Bases. If they somehow end up in the closet, I suppose I can save them from utter embarrassment. Why break up the only amusing part of this whole thing?"

Apollo agreed, and the two gods laughed. They were such dicks.

Image Alex kept her eyes on Pete as he was about to spin the bottle, and with his eyes locked on hers, that thing soon began to spin. It wasn't long before it stopped, and when Alex looked down to see who it had landed on.. her heart sank. It had landed on Rae. Alex looked up at her with a glare as she found the redhead sprawled across Theo's lap. Was there any guy on camp that she hadn't tried it with yet?

As Rae entered the closet with Pete, Alex watched with dread as the door closed behind them before she looked away and saw Daniel with her brother. She managed a smile and made her way towards them.

"The ruler to be all alone, vulnerable, right for the overthrow or is it abduction I might benefit more from."

Ajax smiled, even chuckled. He didn't have to turn around to see who it was, and oddly, he was grateful that Daniel had shown up with his energetic personality. "You can try, though I won't go easily." he grinned.

Image With his elbows resting down against his knees, Daniel sat across from him with a smile of his own.

"Hey boss, how you doing?" Ajax took hold of Daniel's hand with his own, shaking it.

"Honestly? I could be better, but I'll be fine." Daniel could probably tell he didn't want to talk about it as he managed to change the subject.

"You know I've been thinking, literally just then, I think I want kids, but not full time. More like hang out for a bit then can get rid of them in a few hours - an uncle! When am I going to be an uncle?" Ajax froze at that question. Before Daniel could even gesture to Andy, he knew exactly who they meant. Ajax's eyes traveled over to where Andy was, causing to exhale slowly from his nostrils as he looked down, clasping his hands together as Daniel carried on to talk. "If he has more witchy powers - and I really think it's going to be a boy, I could definitely help out. I mean even if we want to crack the whip a little in this camp, I could conjure a monster. I've really wanted to try a kraken," he confessed, tapping on his knees.

As nice as the thought was, there was no chance of him having children with Andy. Especially not now. She was conflicted between two men, and there was no chance of him competing. Not because Mason was better than him, or anything.. it was just as simple as wanting Andy to choose for herself. So be it if she chose Mason. He would just have to accept that his love for her wasn't strong enough to keep her by his side. "So she didn't tell you then?" Ajax would have said, but Daniel changed the subject again.

"So how do you get bottle immunity anyway? Every other person is playing." Ajax looked in the direction he threw his thumb back to the circle. That game was toxic, and Ajax definitely wanted nothing to do with hormonal teens. "Even Alex's- " he did a double-take, causing Ajax to lean a little to one side, his line of sight just past Daniel. "boyfriend went in the closet with another girl...What is with the people on camp these days!? The mouth just isn't a sacred thing anymore."

Ajax snorted a laugh and shook his head with a slight roll of his eyes. "Tell me about it. I'm leaving tomorrow with Alex. We're going to mount Olympus to spend time with dad, and... well... Alex has asked Duke to come. Come with too if you want. It'll be better than this place at the moment. And umm...." thinking back on what Daniel said about Andy, and the question he wanted to ask earlier. "Didn't Andy say anything to you, about..." he started to say "Well, we br--"

Image Before Daniel could question him, or before Ajax could even finish to explain, Alex came rushing over and wrapped her arms around Daniel. She squeezed him slightly, then kissed his cheek and settled down beside him. "Finally get a moment with you. How are you? and what you boys talkin' about exactly, huh?" she smiled. "Gossiping about girls?" she grinned as she looked between the both of them. If they were, she'd want to know. It meant the world to her to see both men she cared about to be happy. Daniel especially with everything that had gone on for him last year. It was nice to see him back, and nice to see him being himself again. Hopefully, he'd be happy with someone soon too.

Image "And did you just see Pete wander off with Rae? - She's the camp's biggest slut here, and it's disgusting. She has not long tried to get Duke to go with her, then was flirting with Theo. I honestly thought that Pete had better taste and standards than that."

Was his little sister maybe a little jealous and annoyed that the bottle didn't land on her?

"Al... I really couldn't care less about their teen dramas. Just stay out of it, okay?"

She didn't protest and just nodded in agreement.

"If they wanna be like that, then that's their problem. Not ours."

He was right, she knew it. Which is why she didn't argue with him. She remained silent for a moment as her eyes wandered off into the direction of where Pete had followed Rae for the night. Her fingers played with the fabric of her shorts as she tore her eyes away, eliminating any thought of them together. This time, her eyes landed on Duke. She was curious as to what he was thinking at this point, especially about the redhead he had not long been talking to before Pete got his claws into her.

Alex folded her arms this time as her brother went back to talking with Daniel, but the second she heard him mention that him and Andy had broken up and gone on some break, Alex felt her fists screwing up in her lap. Ajax had been nothing but loyal to her, and now she was throwing it in his damn face, and for what? Mason? for a long time, it seemed as though those two had something there between them, but she didn't think Andy would try and act on it. Even though there was clearly a dislike for her, Alex still had hope that the girl's feelings were genuine for her big brother.

"I don't want to cause a scene anytime soon, so... I just want people to leave her alone." he looked to Alex when he said that, knowing that she might want to address the issue with Andy personally. "Besides, it's probably my fault because of... I never gave her much attention. Honestly, she's better off without me." Ajax shrugged. He had no clue how Daniel was going to react, but he did know that he couldn't force her to stay with him or to even keep her away from Mason.

Alex shot up out of her seat. "Don't do that for her! don't make excuses for her!" she shouted.

Ajax looked around at the others, hoping they were too busy to notice her outburst. He didn't want anyone bugging him with questions. "Sit down.." he warned her lowly, and she did after seconds hesitation. "Just leave it."

Alex glared off in Andy's direction.

Rae quickly cleared any confusion he might have had about her intentions and only added to it. "Yes, the drying out of my lady-parts is really depending on this conversation right here and right now. I am going to get a little fussy if I don't have a man or two to keep me satisfied while I am stuck here. I find this one rather cute, but I can come back later."

Her frankness was unique and it left Duke and Alex speechless. If he weren't mistaken it left Alex with a bitter taste in her mouth. "Sure you will..." was all she said before spinning on her heel and marching off leaving Duke alone yet again.

His arms hung there lost and confused as everybody parted like the red sea from him. Eventually, when concluding there was nothing he could do, he took a stroll. It was a long enough walk, his thoughts seemingly nowhere and everywhere at once that by the time he returned a few campers had called it quits for the night

It was Alex's turn for the closet, and even though she honestly wanted to enjoy the party, part of her at this point just couldn't stop thinking about how much she blamed Andy, and much she disliked her nowadays. There were times when both of them used to get along, but since Mason came along, it all changed. Her brother told her their decision was made, and mutual, but she knew him better. He only did things to please her, so she thought, but Ajax truly wanted Andy to be happy this time.

The bottle soon landed on Duke.

Thank the gods. She would have no doubt passed it onto someone else if the bottle had landed on Sylas or Mason.

A few steps on the beach and he found the bottle pointing in his direction then looked up at Alex. There were things he'd rather be doing than wedging himself into a closet with somebody but this was apparently a definition of fun.

Alex stood up, dusting herself off before she wandered over to the closet, and once inside with those doors closed to the outside world, she felt peace for a little while until Duke joined her not long after. The closet was actually more spacious than she had imagined but still shuffled up to give him some space.

Duke crossed his arms keeping as much personal space as he could muster between them. For the moment he wasn't feeling very receptive towards the one that made him look a fool then thought she could take him away from the present company...even if the redhead was a little too expecting of Duke. In the meantime he could only stare at her, desperate to cut the present tension and clear some air but he couldn't even identify why these uneasy feelings existed between the two or what he owed her.

ImageThey both stood in silence for what seemed like the longest seconds of their lives until finally, it was broken. "Why did you do that?" she asked with a frown. He wouldn't have a clue what she meant if she left it at that, so she carried on with her words. "Why did you have to shut me down like that in front of that girl who was... Talking to you?" she held back from calling it anything else. "You've never done that to me."

Duke's eyes narrowed. "I didn't see it as shutting you out. We were talking, Alex, and the last I saw of you, you had your tongue down Pete's throat. You're better than that. So why did you do it?" Of course that was more rhetorical than him actually wanting an answer about how attractive Pete was or because she could. He didn't really care for any bratty responses and there were no good responses to give.

She looked down. Maybe he was right. Mixing with a guy like that who came off as one of the bad boys, but she just wanted to live on the edge a little, to feel something from someone else like she was more than just Ajax's little unhinged sister that had lost her way.

His hesitant hand that stroked her cheek was something she didn't expect, yet she didn't once flinch or draw away from him.

His lips pressed into a firm line, the mix of emotions she evoked in him made him contradicting. He wanted her to have fun and be herself, but he wished so desperately she didn't kiss Pete out of the blue either. Hesitantly a hand came up to stroke her cheek. She was a wild spirit, he knew that, but somewhere inside there was far more to her.

Image His touch calmed her, like a raging storm against an unsettled ocean as her eyes looked up and met his. The silence fell between them again, and before she knew it, he had stepped back letting her have her freedom.

She would never be tamable or change and that was reality.

Though with the right man, one that she could grow with and learn from... well, she would be his for as long as he wanted her.

A storm was always going to need its freedom, but once in a while, even storms settle.

"Duke, I... I'm sorry. I just..." Her head was a tornado of thoughts, her heart a blaze of warmth that still managed to stay lit within her towards those she cared about in her life, but the coldness of the dark still clung to her skin like ice, crawling its way through her veins which only her loved ones could thaw. But how could they if she just constantly pushed them away? things needed to change, or there was going to be no way of her turning back.

It was obvious that the trial hadn't fixed her completely. She needed more time to return to that girl she once was last year.

"I'll do better. I promise." she told him, hoping that he trusted her still. She was hesitant about the next choice of words, merely because she had always wanted to be able to stand on her own two feet, but everyone needs help from time to time. Even when we don't like to admit it. "Will you help me? I don't think I can do this on my own."

Looking Alex over Duke could only nod. Of course change had taken place in her and the reality was it had left a scar. He lowered his eyes. He knew Alex didn't mean to disappoint or harm others and he didn't want her being too hard on herself. "It's not about doing better Alex, I think you're incredible and have amazing potential. Everybody does but...especially you." Those kind of compliments didn't come lightly from Duke's mouth, he meant it wholeheartedly.

The corners of her lips began to lift up as she heard his words. That definitely meant a lot coming from him. Especially like that.

"I'll go to Olympus with you and Ajax, and Zeus, if he doesn't mind." Duke cracked a tight smile. It wasn't like the whole tension was completely alleviated between them but it was the beginning of getting back on track. She had asked for help and he'd try his best.

Duke allowed Alex to exit the closet first then holding the bottle around the neck, Duke approached Iliana who looked in the middle of a pep talk with Trinity and Wes. "Sorry to interrupt guys, but I believe one of you are yet to go in the closet and deserve to be included in a dreadful party game." Duke smiled holding out the bottle to Iliana.

7 minutes in heaven wasn't all awful in his kiss but typically it wasn't his game and it was meant for drama, gossip, deceit.

There was no way in the world Sloane would have been able to fall asleep, even if she wanted to. Her mind was racing with so many things. To say that her life was a whirlwind in the last 24 hours was an understatement. She took it all with a grain of salt and found herself able to breathe. But she didn't realize the new vulnerabilities that came with letting new people into her life. Liam in particular.

She didn't blame him, nor was she mad at him. Sloane had zero claim on the man and from what she had seen of him before crossing paths, he wasn't leading the race for Prince Charming. So, she shouldn't have expected any less. Regardless of what was or was not there between them, having someone she felt like she could rely on... maybe even trust was nice. She just obviously misinterpreted many things. Although Liam didn't make it any clearer when he kissed her a moment earlier.

Sloane sighed, rolling over onto her back and pinched the bridge of her nose. What in the hell was she going to do? She had no where to stay and sure as hell had zero desire to return to her brother's cabin. But before she could dwell at that fact too long, the sound of Liam's bedroom door opening caught her attention. The abrupt sound in the silence made her heart skip a beat. She pushed off the couch, lifting her torso enough so that she could peek over the back toward his door. Her body quickly sunk back into the cushions when she saw the giant lumber over toward her.

Before she had a chance to lift her feet to make room for him, Liam took ahold of her ankles gently, sitting where they once laid. Sloane had planned to withdraw her legs in toward herself, that was until he let them rest upon his lap. It was like he was trying his best not to disturb her anymore than he already had. And although there was silence between them, it wasn't awkward per se, but it wasn't exactly comfortable like their silences before were.

"You don't have to go, Sloane," he said. Liam's words sliced through the silence like butter. She found herself looking down the long couch toward him, directly into his eyes that seemed much heavier than they had previously. "I just - I can't read minds. I can't read women or hints or anything like that. I can do a lot of things, but I can't do those. I can't get my thoughts out straight or tell you how I feel, but I can try. Not that it will come out right, but I do try."

Liam's arms rested across her calves, while his leg began to bounce. But she didn't speak, afraid her own words would divert his thoughts. "You told me to mingle, but if mingling means I can't hit on other women, then you should tell me. I don't need other women."

Sloane inhaled sharply as her gaze fell to where his arms met her legs. Her own fingers tugger at the hem of her skirt as she searched for words. Why couldn't she say it? Liam sat her all but vomiting his feelings on her, yet she was silent. Her eyes closed when she finally forced words out. "You can do whatever you want, Liam... And hit on whomever you want. I just... didn't want to be a burden, or in the way." It was partly the truth anyway. She couldn't bring herself to admit she didn't like seeing him flirt with someone else. Not when she clutched his hand not a moment before. But those words didn't leave her lips.

"All you have to do is tell me what you want, Sloane. You seemed... happy since you left your brother, and that's what I want for you. You should be able to feel like you can be yourself, trust yourself, be open without fear. I'm not saying you need to do all of those things with me, but I was kind of hoping that we were headed in that direction."

"I am happier." Sloane felt the need to clarify that. No matter what happened between her and Liam, she was happy getting the brief glimpse of freedom she got, regardless of the end result. "And I... We were," she confirmed.

"I don't want to be just this man that follows you around so that your brother will stay away from you, is what I am trying to say. Judging from the party incident, maybe you don't want me to be, either." He sighed, running his fingers through his hair. It was only when he looked away that Sloane let herself look over at him. "I don't know what this is, but... If you go, Rocco would be very sad. He'd mope. Do you want to be responsible for a moping puppy?"

She smiled. It was brief and it faded as quickly as her gaze fell back to her hands that rested in her lap. "No... I don't want you to be my body guard." Sloane's words were quiet, nearly a whisper. It was only several moments after the words left her lips that she manage to meet his gaze. It was in that moment that she became very aware of her legs in his lap. She nearly pulled them from him and in toward herself. But she stopped herself. They just spoke of trusting and not being scared. Withdrawing into herself was a cowards move... a safe move. So, she forced herself to remain where she sat. Another small step forward.

"I do appreciate everything you've done for me, Liam... truly. And... I don't want to leave." Her voice trailed off, but she managed to keep her gaze on Liam. "But, I don't want to be in your way. I have no right to be... uncomfortable about what you do with other women. And if you want me to go... I'll go."

Sloane didn't move, but internally she prepared... Prepared to hear the words that he did want her to leave. Maybe he was trying to soften the blow. Regardless, whatever he wanted, she'd listen. This was his place and her life all but bombarded his own. She has no right to a spot in his cabin or being jealous of him flirting with someone else, although she wouldn't admit that it was jealousy. Now it was her turn for her leg to become slightly restless. Her toes twitched occasionally before her left leg began to bounce. Just rip off the bandaid.

"You know this is actually a pretty good normal day margin. Considering the other days we've had." Wes nodded his head at Trinity's words but had nothing to add. "Daniel will be fine and if he holds some grudge, he'll just conjure a killer in your cabin to get even."

He let out a genuine laugh at the comment, raising his mechanical arm to rub his temples while shaking his head. Wes smiled toward Trinity, but it quickly faded when he realized how serious a comment like that could be taken. He held out his other hand toward Iliana in a reassuring manner. "Not seriously. Ok, well seriously, but he has no reason to do that to you. He'd reserve stuff like that for Trinity or Andy... Or someone who genuinely annoyed him." He smiled weakly. Yeah, that wasn't going to be helpful at all.

Then it seemed Iliana had other thoughts on her mind. "Sylas scares me for some reason. He's hard to read."

Trinity looked towards him for help. Wes sighed, leaning forward to rest his elbows on his knees. He rubbed the back of his neck before speaking. "The same thing could be said about other people here as well. Personally, I'd worry about Eve." He shrugged his shoulders like he was brushing the thought off before it could fully leave his lips. "But that's just me."

"Do not let him see your fear. That douche is a leech, nothing more. Don't give him an inch of satisfaction. You can crush him under your heel." Trinity's fire always made Wes smile. Although he didn't know if he completely agree with the 'crushing him under your heel' portion. Iliana seemed to be the type to be afraid of her own shadow before standing up to someone else. But maybe he was wrong.

"You said you were Demeter's kid and your powers were linked to your emotions. So when you're sad or angry they just come out? Demeter's pretty nature-based right?"

"Trinity has a mind for battle strategy," he said, smiling as he looked over at the blonde. "She's probably trying to figure out how your abilities could be useful in a fight." Wes lightly nudged Trin with his elbow before he continued. "She's been trying to convince me to use my abilities more often since I can't fight for shit." He laughed, shaking his head at his jabs at himself. After all, it was the truth.

"Don't we all? Call me either. I have a twin, but we're never at the same place at the same time."

Sylas actually chuckled at the comment. It wasn't particularly a good joke but the added fact that he himself had his own twin made it resonate with him. He nodded his head, taking a sip from his drink before he spoke. "If only we all were that lucky. Although it would appear that she is no longer here," he added as his gaze scanned the party. He hadn't notice her depart but it seemed the lumbering idiot was also no where to be seen. An unfortunate side effect. He made a mental note to continue chipping away at Liam in the morning. He wouldn't dare miss the rest of the proceedings in the closet.

"A little bit." Andy's nose scrunched up as Sylas joked like they were all old friends catching up. She let out a sigh as Daniel moved out from behind her. She crossed her arms over her chest, but didn't look away from either one of them. After only some of the things she's encountered and heard, she was not a fan of leaving her brother alone in his presence.

"Speaking of interesting Slendy, what's the story with the neck?" Her brows furrowed slightly as she looked between her brother and the marks on Sylas's neck. Andy hadn't noticed them earlier. Perhaps her mind was too busy with other thoughts to care, but it made her wonder if that had to do with the conversation that happened between Liam and Trinity. Instinctually, she looked around at the remaining people at the party hoping she could find Liam towering over everyone else. But he was no where to be found.

Sylas inhaled sharply after another sip of his drink. His right index finger raised to trace along the bruises while he shrugged in a nonchalant manner. "Demigods are a lot... rougher than mortals. Not that I'm complaining." He smirked in a mischievous way before he downed the remaining contents of his drink. He was more than aware of some of the glares Daniel gave him while he spent time with Evelyn. Although he didn't explicitly say the redhead was the culprit of said markings, he wasn't going to stop the son of Hecate from thinking otherwise.

"You know I just got to say it is good to officially meet you, Sylas. To put a name to the face."

He shrugged and smirked slightly. "Happy to oblige." Sylas slid his left hand into his pocket while the other motioned towards Andy. "I'm sure you're thrilled to have your brother 'back'." His gaze drifted over toward Daniel as he continued. "It seems that your sister here has a habit of being at the epicenter of drama here."

Andy took a slight step back, furrowing her brows. "The hell does that mean?"

"Nothing," he replied. "Just that it might be nice to have someone in your corner. We could always use someone on our side." With his last word, Sylas placed his hand on Andy's shoulder. Before she could recoil he let subtle suggestions flow forth into her. At first he had every intention to give her feelings of guilt. But their touch enlightened him in that... she already was heavily weighed down with these thoughts. That and a juggle between Ajax and Mason.

So instead, he eased some of the guilt. Not much, just enough that Andy would have a nudge to act on impulse rather than worry about her effect on everyone else. The girl didn't know what she wanted. But maybe with one of her walls down, she'd let herself be drawn to Mason like she wanted to be deep down. He could see it in her eyes. And if Mason had Andy... Well, it'd only benefit Sylas in the long term. After all, what goes around comes around. Good karma and all that.

Andy shrugged her shoulder free from Sylas's grasp and took another step back so she was out of arm's reach. "Maybe you should listen to your own advice," she said with a sharp bite to her words.

"I have Mason. Last I checked that was more than you."

Before Sylas could say anything else, Andy pivoted on her heels and walked off. Daniel was more than capable of dealing with that snake's bullshit and just hearing Mason's name set something off in her. She didn't need to linger around and listen to his passive aggressive crap. Instead of joining any of the groups that lingered around the fire eagerly waiting for their chance in the closet, she wondered off toward the refreshment table. She scooped up the nearest shot and downed it, without even checking to see what it was. Just before she went to grab another, her gaze drifted toward the closet as the recent pair exited.

Alex walked out followed by Duke, looking far too content. It wasn't particularly a secret the crush she harbored for the son of Hephaestus. Her gaze met Alex's briefly. Andy groaned and rolled her eyes before turning her back toward the pissy brunette. "For fuck's sake," she muttered under her breath. Maybe it was time for her to leave this damn party and hermetically seal herself in her cabin for the next... decade at least.

Evelyn traced stray patterns in the damp sand deciding to spare fellow campers from interrogation and jumping through the mental hoops. She tilted her head back and closed her eyes sighing out to herself.

She had potentially met one of the nicest guys on camp and chose to test him and Heath instead. Even if a normal conversation was bland and dull, it was better than engaging in debate about the value of truth verse manners. Evelyn glanced in the direction of the fire and observed the odd mix of leftovers. The quiet blonde and Trinity, interesting. She wondered if the smaller one would come out unscathed. Then the bottle was passed into Mason's hands. She ended up closing her eyes and trying to relax, or let go of that habit to observe everything and everyone around her anyway. That was until she heard a rumble in the sky. Then she saw Alex pacing up to the closet and ripping Andy out of there followed by a punch. She was so shocked that only the next crash of thunder reminded her she could be indirectly a target of Zeus's wrath. She quickly withdrew her feet from the water and jumped up only to be drowned in rain. Yet like many of her peers, she could only watch in amazement: amazement that the two girls could hold so much rage and violence towards one another and didn't care they were the spectacle of impulse.

Just as the dispute appeared to reach a conclusion, Alex yelled to the skies and sent lightning out at Andy. Evelyn jumped. It was only then Ajax decided to intervene. Evelyn hugged herself becoming transfixed on Andy's motionless body. There was no sign of obvious breaths from her distance and through the rain. When Mason picked the brunette up, Evelyn's eyes darted to the Valises. She thought about offering them words of advice but in total truth, she didn't want to approach them. They wouldn't listen. After being deemed not guilty in the trial via the effects of a curse, Alex thought she was off probation and could endanger another life? It didn't make sense.

Evelyn's eyes scanned the last of the demigods on the beach gauging their response. The party was well and truly over and it wasn't safe with all the voltage coursing through the air. She didn't need enhanced senses to pick up on such a shift in the environment on its many levels. Without any more to do and nothing to say, Evelyn headed for the path, her soaked red hair plastered to her pale skin.

Of course, how could 7 minutes in heaven not end dramatically?

Trinity all but sipped on her drink when shit hit the fan. She rushed forward to see Alex and Andy trading blows and rolling about the sand for the upper hand. Her jaw set and fists clenched, edging closer to the fight but she couldn’t interfere as long as the odds were even. As much as the girls were out to kill each other, they played fair. And the rage in them needed to be released.

That was until Andy got barbequed by lightning. Mason hurried in the direction of Andy as Alex raved on and on at him. She watched him pick her up and have words said through his teeth with Ajax, then disappear. Trinity marched up to the Valises and shoved Ajax, trying to part the siblings. “Let her go Ajax, she could go another round!” she demanded, locking her fiery gaze on Alex, challenging and provoking her. “I tried to sympathise with you! You have no damn excuse for touching Andy.” Her nostrils flared and steam could emanate from her own body she was so mad.

She looked at Ajax next and jabbed a finger at him. “And you, people expect better of you. You're supposed to be a leader, but all you see and care about is your sister who frankly, puts the camp more at threat than helps it! You're both out of fucking control.” Her chest heaved as she had finally let it out. She sure didn't trust Alex and now she was losing faith in Ajax. Couldn't he have diverted the lightning or something? She thought he was the more powerful out of the two but he did nothing and continued to do nothing except hold Alex. “Wake up, Ajax! Your sister isn't the only one who needs you!” Trinity pushed Alex. She really was the golden girl, but not to Trinity and if she wasn't all bruised and battered already, Trinity would have swung. Even if Alex didn't deserve better. But the moment Alex broke free of Ajax and had a go, Trinity would retaliate and that's what she hoped for.

Image Daniel's eyes narrowed into a suspicious squint when Sylas traced his neck and an answer departed his mouth. "Demigods are a lot... rougher than mortals. Not that I'm complaining." Daniel inclined his chin as if in understanding, as if the answer was fair but there was suggestion packed under it with that smirk of his. One Daniel couldn't really do anything about, nor even be certain of the source. But he just hoped it wasnt a certain red head. She didn't seem like the kind to get super kinky and rough but...behind closed doors... the thought was disturbing.

Unlike his far more expressive sister, Daniel moved on to the next subject and pretended all was fine. And Sylas went along willingly. "Happy to oblige. I'm sure you're thrilled to have your brother 'back'. It seems that your sister here has a habit of being at the epicenter of drama here."

Daniel frowned and looked at Andy, who seemed just as taken back by the comment. And so unfolded another tense conversation between the two that resulted in Andy walking off.

Daniel reached for her arm, but Andy was gone like the wind leaving Daniel standing there as an awkward spectator. "So you and her...not the best of friends I'm sensing." He nodded to himself as that was all but confirmed throughout their entire interaction.

Not long after, Mason's bottle landed on Andy and the world went bibbity bobbity boo, here's some drama for you. A vicious fight unfolded. Alex conjured some torrential rain with her storm then threw lightning at Andy. Daniel tried to catch her, or cushion the blow with his magic but it happened too fast and she slammed into a tree. "Andy!" Mason was by her in a heartbeat, but the rest of the noise and surroundings Daniel blocked out. Alex looked like a savage animal, being held back by its trainer.

He shook his head. What the hell was wrong with her. Trinity stormed up to the Valises and in that moment he could only think one thing. Good. Break her arm and his nose like Andy should have. But he didn't have time to stick around and witness the event or thank her in advance. He looked back to where he last saw Mason and Andy but they were gone. Daniel broke into a run to join them, hitting aside branches, slipping up just before the infirmary then surged forward through the door. He stopped dead when he saw Mason and Andy. He was confronted by how poor she looked. "You actually brought her to the infirmary...thank you," he said and started forward.

Daniel slowly sunk into a conjured chair by Andy's other side. "Is she okay?"

"She's fine. They're keeping her stable at least and warm from what I can tell."

Daniel just nodded. "You know I - "

"It's not your fault." Mason cut off, his eyes trained on Andy. "You're not the one that summoned the lightning and you're not the cause."

Daniel looked his sister's motionless body over. "Whoever's fault it is, my sister's stuck in the infirmary." That was his first priority. Deal with Andy's situation then they could debate whose fault it was.

ImageDuke was stumped, and he was usually one who had a practical approach to everything. But Alex and Andy pummeled into each other like a couple of Ares kids then Alex sent lightning at the brunette. He watched Andy anxiously before he lowered his head, glaring away from the scene. This was all wrong, Alex was supposed to be getting to herself and being better. Calling lightning to strike a fellow demigod wasn't the way to go about it and it'd only turn the others against her or at least look upon her unfavorably.

Duke growled to himself in frustration then heard some more yelling. Trinity was in front of the Zeus siblings, antagonizing them. He walked up to them quickly before another fight broke out and put himself between the two girls holding out his arms. "Take it easy. Everybody needs to simmer down." He slowly lowered his hands, looking between both the parties then rested on the Zeus siblings. "I think you two should go." The party was over so it wasn't as if Duke was banning them from the now non-existent fire. "I think we should all retire for the night," he said, focusing on Trinity again.

Erasing the night couldn't be done with a simple sleep but for now, he just needed everybody to go their separate ways. Tomorrow the Valises would be gone from campgrounds and maybe that would allow some emotions to cool off and people to gain perspective again. More importantly, demigods could take the time as an opportunity to train and gain control of themselves. The trip to Olympus was needed, for the Valises and others as a break from the Valises.

When he was sure people had vacated the beach, Duke finally sighed and massaged his temples. He pursed his lips and cleaned up the bottles abandoned on the sand and leftover food. He'd usually give up on somebody by now but he couldn't give up on Alex and Ajax. Even when they were unwilling to change. But it couldn't be forgotten that Gods were cruel, and maybe that power in a half-human went to their head. Duke didn't like to consider it but it was possible.

With the beach cleaned up to the best of his ability or what he could see anyway, Duke headed to the Valis cabin. He didn't know if Alex would be fuming still or crying , but even through this hardship it was important they didn't disappear without telling the others, or at least a few, they were going with their father tomorrow. Besides, Duke wanted to see how they were going. "You two okay?" Duke approached Ajax, patting his shoulder. Some things were said to him that would play on his mind no matter how stone-faced he was. "I can stay here the night, and depart with you two in the morning. I also think you should try to talk to Andy before we go," he added lowly. "Vanishing without a word is only going to make things worse."

"Next time, shithead, how about you keep that bitch on a leash?"

Before Ajax could even give mason a warning, one daughter of Ares marched on over in their direction and shoved into him which made him drop his hold on Alex who stepped up to his side, her eyes watching the blonde.

Image “Let her go Ajax, she could go another round!” she yelled, locking her fiery gaze on Alex. “I tried to sympathise with you! You have no damn excuse for touching Andy.” Her nostrils flared.

Alex Scoffed, "Right... That's rich coming from the one who can't keep her own hands to herself."

"Al..." Ajax tells her, hoping she won't throw gasoline to the already blazing fire. Trinity turned her attention back onto him with a jab of her finger in his chest. He took a step back and just watched as she laid into him, giving him all her rage. “And you, people expect better of you." Ajax swallowed. it wasn't from fear, it was because most of the camp knew he had leadership issues, and now Trinity thought she could use it against him to cut him down before everyone that was staring on in shock. It wasn't like they hadn't seen drama before, but the way Alex lashed out at Andy, that was the tip of the iceberg with the daughter of Hecate now unconscious before Mason managed to carry her off to the infirmary. "You're supposed to be a leader, but all you see and care about is your sister who frankly, puts the camp more at threat than helps it! You're both out of fucking control. Wake up, Ajax! Your sister isn't the only one who needs you!” she wasn't wrong, and she was only fueled by witnessing her friend being hurt.

"Shut your damn mouth!" Alex growled toward Trinity, causing Ajax to clench his jaw. As he closed his eyes for a second or two to take a deep breath, Trinity pushed her before Alex pushed her right back, shoving the blonde back as hard as she could. His sister seriously needed to learn when to keep quiet. "Push me again.. I dare you!" Alex yelled seconds before Duke walked up to them quickly before another fight broke out. He held out his arms between both girls. "Take it easy. Everybody needs to simmer down." Alex's glared after Trinity, but she remained where she was as Duke slowly lowered his hands, looking between both the parties then rested on the Zeus siblings. "I think you two should go." Ajax nodded and steered his fuming sister away from the rest of the camp and back to their cabin. If he was right at thinking everyone was watching them leave, then he could feel the glares burning into his back as the pair of them walked away, leaving the tension to linger in the air like a bad smell.

Image It was peaceful back at the cabin, so Ajax lightly ordered his sister to take a seat as he grabbed the medical kit from the kitchen to patch her up.

She placed herself down on one of the chairs at the breakfast table, holding out her arm that seemed to be the most cut. "what's gotten into you lately? why are you so destructive all of a sudden? you were proven innocent, so you should have ignored the murder comment from Andy. All you're doing is proving them right about you. They are going to think you're better off away from this place. You'll end up by yourself if you keep pushing people away all the time."

I don't know why I pulled her out of that closet, I just... did."

"Well, this all has to stop, or they're all going to turn against us. Especially our friends, or those that somehow respect us still. Maybe this trip will do us both some good. You especially."

The door opened behind, and as Alex winced in pain from the stuff Ajax was applying to her skin, Duke entered the room. "You two okay?" Duke approached Ajax, patting his shoulder. Ajax sighed heavily down his nose, shifting slightly in his seat before he nodded and dabbed more of the medical stuff on Alex's cuts before placing bandaids over the top. "I can stay here the night, and depart with you two in the morning. I also think you should try to talk to Andy before we go," he added lowly. "Vanishing without a word is only going to make things worse."

Image
"Al, go pack while I talk to Duke... please." for once, she did as she was told. She stood up, looking at them both briefly before heading up the stairs.

Ajax sat there for a moment in silence as he played with his fingers and waited until he heard the door of Alex's room close behind her.

"Stay if you want, but as much as I want to, do you really think she's going to want to see me or speak to me after what just happened?" Ajax looked at him as if searching for that very answer. "As soon as she wakes, Mason is going to be the knight in shining armor after being there for her, sitting by her side in the infirmary while her so-called, whatever I am to her is here, tending to his.... unhinged sister." He hated that word. "And Trinity's right... I'm not fit to lead. All I have cared about, is Alex. I haven't thought about the others much at all. It's why Andy went to him... I've not shown her much love. He has. She was lonely. He reeled her into where exactly he wanted her and knows it will get to me. Should I fight for her? absolutely, but if she loves him, why should I try and convince her otherwise? I don't own her, I just...I don't know what I want. I love her, but... I'm afraid of being vulnerable to her." he quickly wipes his eyes, not wanting to even show how broken he felt lately, along with everything Trinity threw at him. His doubts to lead even stronger since Trinity more than likely spoke for most of them. "...I'll try." he didn't want her to hate him more than she already possibly did.

He handed the medical kit to Duke and thanked his friend before he headed out the door and towards the infirmary hoping she was alright.

Image Alex remained in her room, and just lay there, her eyes fixed on the ceiling as she thought about everything since she came to camp. It was all a mess, and she could tell how much she had changed. If Duke had agreed to stay for the night, at least with him around it would feel normal for both the Valises. Just the three of them like old times. Before Camp. "Duke..." She called out for him, hoping he was still in the cabin. How were they ever going to move on from any of this now? Alex and Andy couldn't exactly avoid each other with being on the same campus, and no doubt everyone hated Alex even more now. Especially her friends who always tried to help.

Image Alex felt like she was drowning all over again. She reached up, stretching her hand towards the surface as the air slowly left her body as the weight of her guilt, anger, and pain pulled her further down to the depth of the ocean.

Wild tendrils wrapped tightly around her ankles. As she sunk deeper and deeper, the voices of those she knew and loved became distant as they began to forget she ever existed.

That was where she'd remain if things didn't change...

Cold, and alone.

Forever.

It took her a little off guard that when she finished speaking, Liam seemed to nearly smirk to himself. Sloane couldn't help but replay everything she said in her head over and over on repeat wondering what she could have said that would warrant that response. Nothing came up, but it still puzzled her. But she didn't let on that it did, instead remaining quiet and patient for him to speak up in response.

"You're happy, I'm happy. I think maybe we're both making progress here," he finally spoke breaking the silence. When Sloane looked up to meet Liam's gaze, she could see the exhaustion that tugged at his eyelids and threatened to carry him off into a deep slumber. "You want to be here, I want you to be here. The world is simple, Sloane." She let out a quiet chuckle as he patted her leg as if it really was that simple. Nothing was, she knew that and he knew that. But in that moment, that particular night she would humor him with a subtle head nod. It was simple, for now.

Liam took a moment to let the silence sink in or perhaps his words. He didn't seem to be in a rush to move from where he sat, rather letting himself sink further back into the couch using her shins as arm rests. "I'm just..." He began to speak, but his eyes closed. Sloane figured it was a matter of time before his eyes closed for good, and would not open until morning. "I'm just glad we can all agree you'll stay. We got a lot of work to do, Sloane. A lot of work. Bright and early in the morning - you, me, and training. What do you say?"

Before Sloane had a chance to answer, Liam's head got heavy resting against the back of the couch while his breathing grew deeper. She had no intentions in arguing his point, but even if she did it would fall on deaf ears. She found herself smiling slightly as she let out a soft sigh and relaxed back into the sofa. For a brief moment she contemplated slipping her legs out from under him and helping the giant into a laying position, but she doubted she'd be able to get free, let alone adjust him in any fashion.

She grabbed a blanket that was draped over the armrest and covered them both with it. Sloane wasn't even fully settled when Rocco trotted out into the living room and pawed at her hand. With a little help, the puppy climbed up onto her lap and found a small spot to curl up in between herself and his sleeping owner. Just as she began to doze off, the sound of thunder rumbling overhead followed by a loud crack of lightning startled not only herself by the small dog. Sloane gently petted Rocco's head trying to calm him as her brows furrowed. She couldn't explain it but something about the sudden storm caused her stomach to churn. And for some reason the only thought that came to mind... was Sylas.

***

Well, it turned out bright and early was indeed bright as the sunlight poured in from the windows waking Sloane from her slumber. But it wasn't all that early. It seemed that the alcohol took a heavy toll on Liam. As she stretched, Rocco waddled up to her, tail waging, and greeted her with a few slobbery morning kisses. When she finally went to sit up she noticed that at some point during the night Liam shifted to be more on the couch while she used his legs as pillows.

Sloane cleared her throat as she quickly stood up. She spared the son of Ares a glance over her shoulder who remained asleep on the couch. So, rather than wake him up, she stretched once more and then headed toward the door. Rocco slept through the evening but she doubted he could hold it much longer. And since Liam had a strong possibility of a hangover whenever he woke up, she took it upon herself to let him sleep as long as he needed. Once at the door she grabbed Rocco's leash and hooked it to the pup's collar. The little guy sprinted outside the second the door was opened, Sloane slowly following after him. She descended a few of the stairs before taking a seat on the edge of the porch.

Sylas didn't move from where he stood as Alex stormed off in the direction of the closet. He was happy to stand there, a spectator, and watch as the following events unfold. If the circumstances were different, he might have taken more credit for the daughter of Zeus's unwinding. But he only gave the girl a nudge in a direction she was already heading down.

Unfortunately for him, the fight seemed to end quicker than he would have liked. It would have been far more interesting if people would have intervened. Luckily Liam and his sister were long gone, both of whom would have tried to intersect him before he even got to Alex in the first place. It wasn't much, but it was a start. Although the end of the fight concluded far more climactically than he would have expected with a large bolt of lightning throwing the daughter of Hecate along the beach.

It seemed that during all the commotion of the storm and fighting, the quiet one started up her own whirlwind. He squinted his eyes in her direction briefly, trying not to show too much curiosity or irritation. Was she trying to defuse the fight or draw attention to herself? It seemed the mousey blonde was as unstable as the rest of the campers, but she didn't need his help in going over the deep end. It didn't quite match up in his mind though. Why would she react in such a way? Either way, the events had quickly brought a party to an end.

Sylas slipped out while everyone else was wrapped up in the aftermath and started down the path toward the cabins. Several steps in front of him, he noticed a particular red head going in a similar direction. Given the circumstances, he decided to remain back although the temptation to approach her was definitely there. Once the paths diverted, he looked towards the back of Evelyn's head a final time before he headed toward his own cabin.

Wes kept to himself, sitting there quietly as Trinity wondered off into the closet with Iliana. And then before he knew it the bottle was passed off to Mason, which got Andy a second go at the tight quarters. It seemed as though the evening was winding down as people disappeared off into the woods towards the cabins. With a soft sigh, Wes pushed off his seat and made his way over to Trinity. He gently placed his hand on her back to get her attention. "I think I'm going to—"

Before he could finish what he was saying the sky above began to go grey and rumble in a way that only a child of Zeus could have conjured. Wes's gazed scanned the crowd and only found Alex the moment she ripped open the door to the closest and took Andy by the hair, throwing her into the sand. The sky's opened up and quickly covered the beach in a deluge of rain. Wes was on Trinity's heels as she hurried forward to get a better view of the fight.

It was an unsettling sight... Watching his best friend and her best friend going for blood in the sand before them. No one dared get in the middle of it. Both girls were deadly in terrifying ways, Alex with sheer power and strength, while Andy had whatever her mind could conjure up. Some blows were so hard and powerful he found himself flinching. At one point he even considered using his own powers to calm everyone down, but in the end he decided it wasn't his place. Sometimes it seemed that the only way to put a vendetta to rest was to let a little blood be spilled.

The fight felt like it went on for ages and neither of them seemed to lose steam. Finally, it seemed to seize... But, Andy had one final word as she walked away. Murderer was all he heard before the beach illuminated as lightning slammed into the daughter of Hecate. It seemed as though everyone else was quick into action while Wes remained frozen in place, falling quickly to the background. He watched as campers were at each other's throats. Mason looked like he was about to murder the Valises while Ajax tried his best to hold back Alex.

Wes didn't step forward until he saw Trinity bee line for Ajax, giving him a good shove. "Let her go Ajax, she could go another round! I tried to sympathize with you! You have no damn excuse for touching Andy."

"Right... That's rich coming from the one who can't keep her own hands to herself." Wes remained there, a few feet behind Trinity but remained removed. Deep down he hoped that another fight didn't break out. He didn't want to think of Trinity and Alex throwing punches next. He simply remained quiet and vigilant watching as the remaining events unfold.

"And you, people expect better of you." Trinity directed her anger at Ajax next. "You're supposed to be a leader, but all you see and care about is your sister who frankly, puts the camp more at threat than helps it! You're both out of fucking control. Wake up, Ajax! Your sister isn't the only one who needs you!” Things started getting physical as Trinity shoved Alex.

"Shut your damn mouth!" Alex pushed Trinity back, using all of her strength. Wes didn't know if it was lucky or not that he stood behind Trinity. She stumbled back into his chest where he stabled her, keeping the daughter of Ares from falling over. Wes's hands kept ahold of her upper arms, not in a way to hold her back or stop her, because he knew damn well not to get in her way when she was angry, but to just be there. Through their physical touch he could feel her emotions and knew that a lot of it stemmed from her concern for Andy. She was worried.

"Push me again.. I dare you!"

Wes was about to speak up, maybe try to defuse the situation but Duke showed up first, putting himself between them. "Take it easy. Everybody needs to simmer down."

"Hasn't anyone told you that telling people to calm down doesn't help anything?" Wes gave a sad attempt at a smile and chuckle. He wasn't very good at helping keep the peace. But this time, was one of the few times he used his powers. Not much, but enough to sooth everyone. Nothing more.

"I think you two should go," he said toward Ajax and Alex. Then he looked back toward Trinity, even though his words seemed to be geared toward everyone who remained on the beach. "I think we should all retire for the night."

Wes didn't pay much attention to what Duke said. He knew the guy meant well and was doing more than anyone else when it came to ending the fights, but the whole thing was delicate. He slowed moved in front of Trinity, keeping his hands resting gently on her shoulders. "I'm sure Mason has already gotten Andy to the infirmary. If anyone can help her, they can." He let his grip slowly slip from her arms and took her right hand in his left.

There was nothing else he could say, so instead he said nothing. Wes guided her slowly off the beach and through the woods towards the cabins. He remained quiet so she could yell, complain or worry however she wanted and he would listen. When they reached the path that diverted between his cabin and hers, he gave Trinity's hand a gentle squeeze. "If you don't want to be alone, you're more than welcome to stay with me. I can sleep on the couch. And first thing in the morning we can go check on Andy... If anything changes before then I'm sure Mason would tell you."

He then took a step forward, placing a tender kiss on her forehead. "Whatever you need, I'm here." It was a strange place, being in his shoes at that moment. Wes was Switzerland in the middle of a war between people he cared about. For the first time he could see the fragile place Andy has been for over a year now. But regardless of him not choosing sides, he would still be there for Trinity, no matter what.

Image "Stay if you want, but as much as I want to, do you really think she's going to want to see me or speak to me after what just happened? As soon as she wakes, Mason is going to be the knight in shining armor after being there for her, sitting by her side in the infirmary while her so-called, whatever I am to her is here, tending to his.... unhinged sister." Duke sighed, as if mirroring Ajax’s defeat, because that’s how he spoke, like it was over. I'm afraid of being vulnerable to her."

Duke stared hard at Ajax for some time. Everything coming out of his mouth was sincere but Duke didn’t give love advice, he was hardly qualified. "Don’t let others sink under your skin. I know it’s easier said than done but you have to stick to your own guns. Be your own person. Don’t get sucked into their worlds and views." That didn’t cover his Andy dilemma too well and even Duke felt like the conversing was incomplete. With a sigh, he continued. "Showing vulnerability is a good way to demonstrate trust. You got to stop fighting battles alone, nobody can do it."

There was thickness in the air before Ajax responded. "...I'll try." he finally said.

"At least if you see her you'll know you tried. You're at least giving her the common courtesy." Duke shook Ajax's hand firmly letting him know he still had an unbreakable ally as he took the med kit with his free hand.

Then they parted, Duke stranded with the medical bag in the middle of the Valis cabin. "Duke..." Alex called out for him.

For what he didn't know, but he headed towards her voice hurriedly and flung open the med kit. "What do you need? What's the matter?" She hadn't called him with urgency but his mind went to the worse. Better to be ready that way. He finally looked to Alex, her eyes miles away and staring vacantly at the ceiling. Duke seemed to understand then it was more emotional help than physical help.

He carefully sat on the edge of her bed, looking her over. "Do you want to talk about it?" Not that he was a particularly good therapist but if she needed to talk and unload, he was there.

After the long night and being there for the kids of Zeus, Duke crashed on their couch.

ImageMorning came and the Valis cabin was soundless and Duke had a desire to be productive with his time. He couldn't wake them up if they were sleeping and he couldn't wait around. In fact, the invite to Olympus slipped his mind, too flooded with last night's drama instead.

Duke stopped by his own cabin to get dressed for a workout and to flex his powers then he was off to the gym. It was his ideal destination, though upon arrival he saw someone else had the same thoughts. Only the area had been upturned, equipment on the floor, hardly anything left standing upright. After a moment of studying the scene, his eyes fell on Liv at the centre of it all. "Hey," he said, more as a way of announcing his own presence than a proper greeting.

The builder in him ached to sort the mess out but he couldn't bother returning the weights or cleaning up since she might not have finished in whatever it was she was doing. Being destructive by appearance. It wasn't exactly an accident when that much stuff was knocked over. But some demigods didn't have gentle powers to exercise. Duke stepped forward from the entry. "Do I bother to ask what's on your mind?" Liv was no open book but for whatever it might have been worth, his offer was there. He was actually a decent listener and her a decent girl.

Duke walked around the gym itching to use the equipment and make the most of downtime because like his peers, he had his own pent up energy to rid. But that depended on the company. "Do you want to do some resistance exercises then head outside to try your powers?" Coming from the likes of Duke it might have sounded like he was trying to move her along and kick her out, but it was an invite to train together. For her to display her powers in a more sensible environment, anywhere really except the gym and him to play with fire.

Pointedly, Duke began to gather the weights and replace them. Of course, by some resistance exercises, he meant the human version of quickly readjusting the equipment before some staff member or other demigod decided to have an input. The daughter of Poseidon wasn't one to fall into an obligation of doing anything so she could have been staring or walking away for all he knew. When he got to a barbell with a few bulky weights on its end he froze in thought. "Liv, a hand please." He hoped he was still graced with her presence because he'd take an eye roll, a sigh, a remark to see her lift this bar. Emptying a little gas from her tank couldn't hurt.

There she was, eventually standing in the midst of her own mini-chaos that sort of mirrored her emotions right about now. Liv closed her eyes, braced her back against a wall and rubbed the palm of her hand down her face. A sigh passed through her lips, and she tilted her head back and fought the urge to continue on this destructive path. Admittedly, it felt so good to have this kind of disastrous power just lurking somewhere waiting to be fully unleashed. That sigh turned into a bit of quiet laughter, now that she was daring to embrace the ruinous nature of being Poseidon's daughter.

Why the fuck not? Alex was free to kill and harm people, right? Free to do as she pleases to whom she pleases, and that was the most irritating thought. Then there was Trinity, the Camp's volatile powerhouse just laying out whoever pisses her off just a little bit. If those two women could be bad, then perhaps there was no harm in being worse. Liv wasn't going to be a beaten dog, and she certainly didn't like that certain people were forgiven no matter what they did. The justice in this world, with the gods - it felt biasedly... weighted more heavily on one side than the other. If she spent the next few days, weeks even, working on her deadly ability, those girls would think twice in the future.

Oh, but for now, Liv has to put her good girl face on as Duke enters the gym in its calamitous state. Not that she minded, of course. He wasn't bad company from what she could discern on their little Pegasus ride from Olympus. It was just unfortunate that she had other issues to take care of before they could properly engage. She pushed herself off of the wall, put on that veneer of meek innocence, and let him have the first word.

"Do I bother to ask what's on your mind?" He inquired, and she offered him a light smile as she bent down to pick up some of the displaced weights. Now, she wasn't Trinity or Alex, so she'd probably have to leave the obscenely heavy ones for Duke or maybe Liam later when he hogs the gym.

"Well, Duke - that depends on if you genuinely want to know," she responded with the shrug of a single shoulder as she placed the dumbbells in their rightful spot.

"Do you want to do some resistance exercises then head outside to try your powers?" He then asked, and she shook her head at the weight training. "I am not really a weights kind of girl, but I won't stop you from getting under the barbell." That was almost a tease as if to imply that she'd love to watch him try to get under a barbell. Of course, that meant he would have to pull off the plates that Liam used because that asshole never put anything back.

"Alex isn't with you?" She then asks, aware of his attachment to the girl - or rather, her attachment to him. Either way. Whichever it was. "I really don't feel like getting deep into conversation and training only for her to steal you away, as she often does with my other conversational partners. What is it with some people that they feel they are so entitled? It's annoying." There was a sharp tinge of resentment in her usual kind tone, but only for a few seconds.

"Liv, a hand please," Duke requested, and while Liv wasn't going to lift a barbell with all those plates on it, she did know how to remove them properly. The daughter of Poseidon placed two smaller plates on the ground, the 25-pound ones. Then she beckoned for Duke to help her roll the barbell on top of them which would, in turn, help with the ease of wiggling the plates that were not touching the floor any longer off. She'd do that, then lift up her end to remove the last plate and let Duke take care of his end. She'd let him, on his own, pick the barbell up and place it on the rack. He can lift forty-five pounds. She believed in him.

She turned to face him, head tilted after she combed her hands through her hair now styled in a short bob, and smiled again, "You know, I've been meaning to train with someone like you. If you think about it, you're kind of like the Yin to my Yang in terms of godly power." With the gym in better shape than before Duke had entered, she started to leave with him likely walking beside her.

"I hope you like the beach," she turned her head to him, her teeth biting her lower lip and eyebrows both lifting a couple of times kind of comically. It wasn't really a seductive move, but more like... fire didn't cope so well with water. "Oh, and swimming. You never know when you might need to save yourself from drowning..." she accidentally added that last part as more or less an ominous murmur, but she didn't address it at all or even care. If she had to do something drastic, maybe some of the people she liked could save themselves. Fuck the rest of them. They could drown.

Some part of her hoped these emotions were just temporary - just that part of her that was back and forth between happy, sad, and anger. Yet, it seemed the longer she stayed, the more permanently certain emotions ruled her.

Image "Alex isn't with you?" He stopped what he was doing to look at her, insulted at first maybe then just shrugged. She certainly wasn't in his pocket and with Alex, you knew when she was around. "I really don't feel like getting deep into conversation and training only for her to steal you away, as she often does with my other conversational partners. What is it with some people that they feel they are so entitled? It's annoying."

Despite the irritation shining in her voice, he smiled slightly. "I couldn't tell you." He knew it existed but why people threw their nose in the air and thought they could away with what they wanted. "Maybe it's a new hobby? Which is a lesser evil." Better than fighting and hurling lightning at someone anyway.

With Liv's aid he got the gym back in shape, including the heavier barbell and weights attached. It wasn't a big deal but still, he drew away glancing at her. "Do you know what's sad about that?" he pointed to the barbell. "That's the greatest display of teamwork I've seen in a while." Like he said, sad.

He naturally fell in step with the daughter of Poseidon as she headed out. "You know, I've been meaning to train with someone like you. If you think about it, you're kind of like the Yin to my Yang in terms of godly power."

He nodded his head side to side. "It's not the worse idea. Besides, I suppose your options are pretty limited if you're looking to train with the opposite elements." Behind his mock approval and smile there was uncertainty. Duke was always up for a challenge and bettering himself and others but there were a lot of variables when exercising their yin/yang powers.

As if to make matters worse, she turned to him. "I hope you like the beach," she said with a ridiculous gesture yet somehow wicked. They were going to walk right into her advantaged territory were they? She muttered something else, that Duke only half caught about swimming. He trusted pools and lakes but a beach had tides of varying strengths and this beach now had a daughter of Poseidon to rule it.

"That's cute, Liv. Tell me what do you get out of being in home-field advantage? Because I'm starting to feel a little like this training is more for me." Of course he didn't mind being challenged because most the time you could only evolve from failure. Or drown in this specific instance.

They drifted to the set destination and Duke's pace unwillingly slowed in the sand and he crossed his arms. He couldn't quite decide entirely whether he trusted Liv or not. In his eyes, she was one of the more mature demigods but there was something about her. The muttering that sounded like threats, the state of the gym...

He lifted a hand trying to summon a small flame. Some assurance that his powers hadn't suddenly left him. It was only heat at first giving him time to frown then his fingers lit up with flame, flickering uneasily in the beach breeze and damper conditions. He closed his fist extinguishing them before they disappeared by other means. Then his eyes wandered over to Liv. In a show to overcompensate his hesitance, Duke walked straight for the water. He took off his shoes and shirt, dumping them on the sand and marched through the dreaded element until it turned into wading his way further away from the shore. If the tide picked up or a powerful wave came then he'd be in a bit of trouble but it was manageable for now. Beaches normally had patterns to follow.

So there they were, in the domain of Liv. This was, perhaps the one place where she felt unconquerable, but her father's deeply scathing words had made her feel like she didn't belong in the majesty of the deep blue. Yet, as she stood in the sand and the crisp morning ocean breeze hit her nostrils, she was reminded that this was her space. No one could take away anything from her while she was here. Not even daddy dearest. Especially him.

Having seemingly gone from sweet to unabashedly deviant, she let her eyes roam when he pulled his shirt off. After all, she's a woman that could admire a man's body, and he was offering her the view - whether he believed so or not. Liv was very unashamed about it.

"Such a shame, really," she spoke, gently placing a fingernail between her teeth as she stares him down, but fails to offer any context for her commentary.

Once he turned his back toward her to begin his valiant march toward the gentle tides of the shore, that amiable smile of hers departed. It was as if, in that very moment, thoughts slipped into her mind that were of ill intent. She spared a glance over both of her shoulders, checking to make sure that there were no witnesses to anything. The gods may be watching, and maybe they should because anything could happen here, and no matter what Duke wanted to bravely tell himself - water always triumphs over fire. Always.

After she kicked off her shoes and peeled away her leggings, she was in nothing but her sports bra and some dark underwear. She didn't mind at all because she had better things to think of, and he's probably seen a woman's body before. It's nothing surprising. That, and Liv has never been anything worth staring at for a long period of time. She's petite and short, and all those womanly curves could hardly compete with your average woman.

She slowly walked to the shoreline, dipping her toes in to test the temperature. Warm as always. Then she began to slip further in, and when she could submerge herself - even if she could still stand - she dipped under the water. The way she swam was quiet yet swift, and before Duke knew it, the moment he thought to look down he'd see a full head of hair emerging from the surface followed by Liv rising in rather close proximity to him. Nearly touching, actually. No personal space granted. Everything about this picture looked really wrong from afar, and if a certain pair of eyes saw it - well, Liv might be sitting in a trial of her own. What was he going to do about it? Go back further into the ocean he's so scared of? Maybe that's what she secretly wanted - to be trouble because being good wasn't getting her in her father's good graces. She wanted to learn more, do more, and unfortunately that meant changing for the worse.

It wasn't until she was up close to him that she could appreciate that he is taller than her. Broader, too. She's so tiny compared to so many people here, but size wasn't everything. He'd learn that in a few minutes, but first she has to get something off of her chest since it is just them two. She doesn't quite know why, but she feels like Duke can be trusted.

"My father says that I'm not the daughter that he wanted. That... I could never be better than his sons," she began, tilting her head slightly to look the man in his eyes. That is, if he hadn't run out of the water yet. "I found myself wondering what kind of person my father wishes me to be. Then it dawned upon me as I watched my conversational partner be stolen, when I was having a good time - or when I was just trying to be a decent person. I let you all walk over me." As the words leave her lips, she pressed her chest against him to begin forcing Duke to step back. They had a long way to go before there was a sudden drop off and he would have to swim, but for now... she's just making some things perfectly clear. "First, Trinity, then Alex... and who's going to be next? I suppose that I've been going about dealing with you all the wrong way. Gods fear my father, and... I am beginning to believe that the iron fist rules mightiest than the velvet glove."

The daughter of Poseidon continued to press him further and further into the deep. She stopped them both just as the reached that sweet spot where she knew one more step back would feel like the ground has sunken beneath his feet, and then he will be in real trouble. Everyone here always expected that they would drown from her power, but the ocean is so much more than just water. Something... undeniably serpentine made a pass at one of his ankles, and by the way it slid across his flesh it was certainly something long and threatening.

She lifted a hand to the side of his face and cupped it gently, "Oh, Duke - there's so much more to fear than drowning. The children of Poseidon command all in the sea's domain." Then she pushed him against his chest hard, hopefully to send him plummeting into the water because there is no more ground to walk on. As his body submerges, he'd find a nightmarish swarm of sea snakes - long, venomous, schooling like a dark cloud in the deep blue.

She turned away from the scene, content that news of this might reach the ears of the people she'd like for it to. Yet... she trusted him, for some reason, and maybe he wasn't one of them. She turned back around, watched the scene unfold, and found herself curious about how he would handle it. If she should intervene. If she was too harsh. She didn't know - her emotions were mixed. He'd be a good ally to have if anything were to happen, but she had already spilled everything out her mouth in a horribly threatening way, and he must know that she meant every word of it.

Regardless, he wanted training, so here it is - snakes, drowning, and a potentially wicked Poseidon daughter in the making.

Wes wasn't sitting alone for long before Trinity passed Sloane off to Liam and decided to sit beside him. "Isn’t this nice? Demigods training to fight and defend themselves with powers."

He let out a soft sigh, with an eye roll, even though he still had a smile on his face. "You know, you're not subtle."

Trinity didn't seem to be letting the conversation end there. She turned around and took ahold of his hand, gripping it tightly. "Lie to me at least and tell me you’ll use your abilities on threats."

He knew she was just worried about his well being in the face of imminent danger. The last time they were in a battle for their lives he lost an arm, and he could tell she was worried he'd lose more... like his life. "I used them during capture the flag on that hellhound didn't I?" It wasn't the answer she was looking for, but it was something. He recalled using his abilities during the last battle as well. Although not much. Trin wanted him to be a warrior... but he just wasn't.

"Since we’re here how about you teach me something. Anything," she said with a smile.

Wes sighed, running his fingers through his hair. Being put on the spot and told to teach someone something is like being asked to tell someone about yourself. Where the hell do you start? It usually just leaves the person blank with no idea what to say. And that's where he was. "Hell, I have no idea. I could teach you how to introduce yourself in French. But it's nothing spectacular or helpful."

"You could probably teach Sloane a thing or two. Liam reckons she needs confidence and I feel like you'd be good at drawing that out of her." Jesus she was determined that day. It wasn't a new conversation. Hell, Trin has been trying to convince Wes to use his powers for over a year now. He admired her determination, but he didn't like messing with people's free will. He wasn't gifted with the ability to manipulate water or fire... but people. And that didn't sit right with him.

"Liam doesn't know the first thing about reading people." Wes laughed weakly. "I don't think her confidence is the problem... She's scared. I can feel it when I'm around her." He shrugged his shoulders slightly.

For a long moment, Trinity's gaze shifted to the training. Wes on the other hand was trying not the pay attention to it, but as he heard the harsh words Liam said toward Sloane, he winced. There was nothing more frustrating then people trying to force you to fight back. He knew that struggle all to well. The blonde beside him often trying to insight that in him. But Liam was making it personal. He supposedly cared for this girl, from what Wes could tell, yet the way he spoke to her. The idiot might have gone three steps forward defending Sloane from her brother, but talking to a women you care about like that would send him four steps back. It wasn't a pretty sight.

Trinity took their joined hands and brought them into her lap. But it was when she cleared her throat that he looked over at her. "You know your other friend suggested I help her with her own emotions? Umm, Iliana. I think you should start offering your service as a counsellor or trainer so people know you're the productive one."

"I don't know if I'm the one people should look to for guidance when it comes to controlling their emotions. Sure, I can tell people how to talk to a girl... or not too, in Liam's case. But, I don't have control over my emotions. Maybe hide them better than some on occasion. But... I don't know if it's possible to control emotions. Powers aside. We feel what we feel. Good or bad."

But the topic didn't keep their attention for long. They were both looking back to the training in front of them. It was uncomfortable. "What do you think of this? Who are you taking if things go south?"

Wes sighed. "I think your brother doesn't have a clue how to talk to women." Wes laughed slightly, but it was a serious conversation. If this went south quickly, they'd both have to be ready to act. "Liam, probably. He's stronger than me, but if I could get a hand on him I could calm him down."

Sylas watched as Evelyn struggled between him and the counter. Not to break free, but it was like she was trying with everything in her power not to look at him. "I'm uninhibited around you. It's thrilling and I feel insatiable and vigorous." He liked the sound of that. It nearly made him smirk, before he caught himself. There was a 'but' coming. There always was. "You’re forbidden desires wrapped in one package. I should stay away....I should."

Her words said she should. Yet, her hand found its way to the back of his neck, playing with his hair. Evelyn shifted up to her tiptoes, bringing her closer while she pulled him down toward her slightly. But then she froze. "You should," he said quietly in agreement as his hands fell from her sides.

Evelyn's hands still rested on his chest, but not in an affectionate way, instead requiring space. Sylas didn't argue and took a step back. "Let me summarise this. You so charmingly implied you may want me to stay, but you admit you are dangerous, and I should do the exact opposite. You can see how that's rather cruel of you."

"Yes. It is," he agreed as he looked down at her. She was not wrong and in this brief moment of truth, he would not argue it.

"You are wickedly tempting. But you already know that don’t you?" And then she smirked, raising a brow.

Sylas couldn't help but chuckle softly. "I've heard rumor."

"Now, unless you plan on keeping us cooped up all day, I’m going to go fulfill other basic needs. And you should put on some clothes before there’s a chance of burning more daylight."

He would have been happy spending the entire day in bed, but he wouldn't argue. Sylas stepped aside and let her pass, although he smirked, just slightly, at her hand that lingered upon his stomach. He watched her head toward the door, but didn't follow.

Evelyn stopped just before she exited and looked back to him. "Thank you again for...everything."

Sylas nodded his head as he lightly crossed his arms over his chest. "Any time." And he meant it.

Once she opened the door, Evelyn said her fair wells and closed the door behind her, leaving Sylas standing half naked, staring at the exit. He waited there for a moment or two longer, in case she changed her mind and came back in. But when he realized she wasn't returning, he sighed and finally decided to move. He made his way back to his bedroom where he let his gaze linger on the disheveled bed for a moment, before he stripped out of his clothing and wondered into the shower.

Sloane stood there, like a spectacle, waiting as Liam slowly made his way over to her. She didn't like being the center of attention. And with him standing before her like an oppressive giant, she found herself feeling smaller than she has before. He didn't say anything. So, she neither did she.

Then it seemed like everything got quieter. Liam began to breathe heavily as the air around him grew heavy. It was like all the hairs on the back of her neck raised and a cold chill ran down her back. But Sloane's gaze couldn't leave Liam. She just stood there in silence and watched him change before her. He was panting, his chest raising and falling with labored breaths. The veins protruded from his arms and neck.

It was a strong wave that slammed into her like a tsunami. It made her want to retreat. And she thought about it until Liam spoke. "Don't run," he said almost robotically.

Sloane could feel his tendrils trying to worm their way into her mind. Maybe if her constitution was weaker. If she couldn't control emotions or manipulate others with her powers it might have effected her more. Perhaps even caused memories and visions of the past to flood into her mind. It was like something inside her was scratching at the walls, trying to get out. It was fighting to make her scared or angry, perhaps both. It was a strong sensation. Her breathing grew heavier as she tried to keep it at bay and remain calm.

"Look at yourself," he demanded of her. Liam's voice was cold and harsh. The words were sharp enough to make her double take and snap out of whatever magical hold he had on her. "Look at all the ways you've made yourself a victim. You. Not your brother, not me. You make yourself weak. No one else can do that for you. Who are you, Sloane? Is this the real you? Is this how you're going to live the rest of your life?"

It wasn't the air the spun around them that churned her stomach. It was his words. Sloane's nostrils flared as she clenched her jaw. Her gaze drifted over to a spot on the floor as she tried to remain calm. Why did it always seem that someone like Liam could do the right thing one moment, and negate it all with thoughtless words that flood out of his mouth like poison the next. It was like one moment, he wanted her there and to help. Then the next he saw her as a sheepish burden. Some damsel that needed saving and no idea what she had gotten herself into.

She had enough.

"You have no idea what you're talking about!" Her voice wasn't quiet and timid, but forceful and demanded to be heard. Sloane shoved her hands into Liam's chest, and while that normally wouldn't have made him budge, the powers in her demanded he stumble back when she pushed him. "I didn't make myself the victim. You did!" She shoved him again. Her abilities only getting more powerful, forcing him to stumble back again.

"I had everything under control before you came around and made it your problem!" She pushed him again. To those who watched it must have been strange seeing someone so small knock Liam back with every push. "I knew how he was! And rather than letting him take his sickness out on others, I let him take out his anger on me! Letting him hurt me, kept everyone else safe. But you didn't see that. You didn't ask about my side of the story."

Sloane took a step toward him and jabbed his chest with her index finger. "I wasn't scared until you came crashing into my life!" The poke wasn't intended to make him stumble back, but her powers were already coursing through her and it wasn't going to calm down anytime soon. "Because now, I don't have it under control. It isn't about me anymore. You brought yourself into this mess... Along with your sister, Wes, even Andy. Every single person you've opened your big mouth too is now in danger because you put your nose somewhere it didn't belong."

She looked like she was on the edge of tears. Not sadness, but angry tears. "I bore his anger so no one else would have to!" This time when she pushed him, all that pent up anger and the powers that tingled at her fingertips transferred over to Liam, telling him to stumble backwards until he falls upon the ground. Sloane moved to stand over him. "I am not a victim. And I'm am not weak."

After a second or two of looking down at him, Sloane stepped over Liam and walked for the edge of the woods. "Don't follow me," she said back toward him before she disappeared into the trees. She had no destination in sight, just the desire to get away. She felt like she was suffocating when she was around him, and with every step away she took it was like she could finally breathe.

This was one of those moments Sloane wished she had her own cabin. Not Sylas's and not Liam's. Somewhere she could go that was hers, where she could be alone. Instead, she continued to walk through the woods, going wherever her feet lead her. After a couple minutes of walking, the dirt beneath her shoes turned to sand and she stepped out onto the beach. When that ocean breeze hit her, she was overwhelmed with all the stirring emotions and just stumbled to her hands and knees.

She remained like that until she managed to catch her breath. Once she did, Sloane let herself shift back until she was kneeling, her weight resting back on her shins and feet. As she ran her hands back through her hair, she noticed far on the other end of the beach were two others. She was too far away to tell who they were and hopefully, that was far enough for them to leave her alone. Sloane slowly moved her feet out from under her and laid back in the warm sand.

"Sure." As Mason approached, Andy tried her best to move her hair out of the way. She stood as still as she could manage as he untied the strings of the gown. At one point his breath brushed her shoulder sending a chill down her spine. It made her nervous how close he stood. Not in a bad way, but it was different than all the other times they stood close before.

"Did...I...." Mason begin to say. She slowly looked back over her shoulder at him, being sure to hold the gown against her chest. Andy waited, patiently, to hear what he was going to ask. But he said nothing. She sighed softly as she turned back around, leaving her back to Mason. She set down the gown on an empty chair, then carefully slipped into a zip up hoodie. It was the easiest thing she could manage to put on.

"I've never seen you fight like that before," he said instead.

Andy sighed softly before she sat back down on the hospital bed, even managing to cross her legs under her Indian style. "She blames me for breaking her brother's heart. Like our relationship failed because of me, and Ajax had no part in it." She gave a small shrug. The best she could manage. "And I was tired of her blaming you... for everything, while no one ever holds her accountable for her actions." She slowly looked up to meet his gaze. "So... I did."

She rubbed her side and laughed weakly. "I'm not scared of Alex. I might not be able to control lightning, but I'm just as powerful as her, in ways that she couldn't imagine." Andy looked down at the blankets beneath her. Her fingers idly picking at the threads. "But I fight fair... And she doesn't. She shook her head with a defeated smile. "I should have broken her arm when I had the chance." Not that she would have. It might have felt good. But she was more proud of herself for being the bigger person and walking away. Even if it ended badly.

"We never really got to talk much after that whole bullsh-...the trial. After Alex's trial. What I said to you was crap. I'm sorry I said what I said and how I spoke to you. I meant the whole Jennova and looking into your memories thing but... With Hades gone, that leaves....a big role to fill. I'm not going now - especially not now but someday..."

Mason seemed to be at a loss for words, something Andy wasn't used to seeing. But she remained silent and waited for him to continue. "I know Hecate lives there too and she can manage things for a while but she doesn't deserve the duty to be thrown on her eternity. She didn't do anything wrong. I was thinking we could try make a device. Something that lets me travel freely between the Underworld and here because...I don't want to be there forever. Every second of every day and Gods are Gods. For all I know Zeus could seal me in there or Hades as some last trap sprung on me."

Her heart sank as he continued. She didn't like the thought of him leaving... again. Andy relied so heavily on Mason, probably too much. He was a rock in her life that she needed and the thought of him being out of reach saddened her. But she understood why he had to do it. Luckily, Hades wouldn't be there.

"Sorry. I know you have your own stuff to deal with. Just...wanted to come clean and wonder if that's something you'd be comfortable with doing when you've regained your strength."

"Don't apologize. I'm glad you told me. And you know I'd be happy to help you however I can." Andy's brows furrowed as she pondered the request. Instantly, a couple ideas came to mind. "We could always make some kind of beacon... A stationary object that you can travel to. Or, perhaps, items kind of like walkie talkies. They could allow travel between the two. So, the carriers could travel between the two with ease. Someone could travel to the Underworld to see you, or you could leave to go to them."

Andy didn't try to assume that Mason would want her to carry the other one. Perhaps he'd give it to Eve, or leave it somewhere hidden. But it was an option. And part of her liked the possibility of being able to travel to the Underworld to see him rather that waiting an indefinite amount of time for him to come see her.

"And for the record, I forgive you... for what you said before the trial. I..." Andy's voice trailed off as she tried to find the words. As she sat there her gaze fell to her hands. "I had no right to be jealous of Eve and lash out at you for it. It was selfish and rude."

She exhaled softly as she brushed loose hairs behind her ear. "I grew used to you being just mine. And... I don't like Eve, I don't. But, I had no right to get mad about it. Especially when you've watched me with Ajax for so long. I think... I think it made me realize how unhappy I was and I took it out on you when it isn't your fault. I haven't been fair to you." Andy inhaled sharply but couldn't look up. "If she makes you happy, then I won't make you choose between her and me."

It wasn't easy for her to say. Even as the word's left her lips, Andy's stomach churned at the thought. But she didn't have any right to be jealous over whomever Mason wanted. He wasn't hers. While the thought of it sat uneasily, in the end, she just wanted to see him happy. She couldn't recall the last time he seemed genuinely content. "I just want you to find happiness."

Everything was set. All the luggage was packed, or at least, all they needed was. He looked over the bags that lay on his bed to make sure he did indeed have everything. He jumped before quickly turning his attention to the door, and then began to run towards Alex's room.

She was fighting with her bedsheets as they tangled themselves around her legs. "hey, it's okay.. You were just dreaming. It's a dream. You want to talk about it?"

Image "no, it's fine... It was just a stupid nightmare. I'll be fine." she fixed herself and her hair before climbing off her bed, throwing the tangled sheets out of the way. "Is it time to go? How we even getting there? we can't exactly carry him. He's grown more muscle since I last saw him."

"Ares is coming apparently. I got an email from hermes." he explained, seeing the confused face she had since no god had stepped foot in camp since the trials.

"Email? I thought dad was against modern technology?"

"Doesn't mean they all are."

"Did you get to talk to Andy?" Alex asked him as she headed off into the kitchen to fix herself a bowl of cereal.

"No.... She doesn't need me anyway. She has him." the same thought of Mason being close to her made his blood boil, and it wasn't like he could walk up to him now and attack him. The entire camp would start thinking the valises were just mentally unstable.

Just as Ajax had managed to brew himself a coffee, the skies opened up, causing a loud crackle and rumble as a flash of light came rushing down towards the camp like a shooting star, its tail end like white fire.

"they always like to make a grand entrance don't they?" Alex comments as she peers out of the kitchen window. Ares chariot had landed directly in their backyard perfectly.

"Can't exspect anything less from them." he shrugged.

He wandered away from the window, finished off his coffee before placing it into the sink, and then headed outside to meet Areas who was taking off the spartan looking helmet of his.

"you ready to go?" Areas asked, his right hand stroking down the neck of one of the two horses pulling the chariot.

"Almost. Alex and I just gotta grab our things" he said, motioning his thumb back over his shoulder to the cabin behind him. "and we are just waiting for Duke. He shouldn't be too long. No doubt he saw you coming."

Image Ares smiled before he patted the horses neck. "Let me help you get your things onto the chariot then."

Ajax nodded. "I'll toss them down to you through the window."

Ares caught them with little to no effort before throwing them into the back of the chariot, placing them so there was enough room for his three companions.

Son of Hephaestus | HEX: #780707 | Outfit

Image He had come to accept Liv as a somewhat mysterious and unabashed individual who felt no need to justify what she said or her actions. But sometimes, he would love to get in her head and see what she meant, how she really felt. For example, why for a few seconds he all but felt devoured under her eyes. It wasn't enough to be uneasy around the environment but Liv herself was now adding to his self-consciousness.

Duke stole glances over his shoulder and around to check where Liv was. Not so much to save him from the water but because she was unpredictable and the commander of the element he was treking deeper into. Although he tried to believe, she wasn't unhinged and reckless. Entirely. It didn't take long at all to lose sight of her until she surfaced inches away from him. Duke's head jerked back startled again by her unapologetic and deviant behaviour. He almost put his hands on her to guide her a more appropriate distance apart but she probably wasn't a fan of man handling and it may be an implication that he was intimidated by the petite company.

Then she truly did the unexpected. "My father says that I'm not the daughter that he wanted. That... I could never be better than his sons." It was disarming when Liv finally opened up. Duke opened his mouth a few times to argue they weren’t all alike and Poseidon’s perception of her was unfair but his mouth clamped shut in a tight line waiting for Liv to say her whole piece uninterrupted. But it only got more alarming when she pressed against him and he automatically backed away. "Gods fear my father, and... I am beginning to believe that the iron fist rules mightiest than the velvet glove."

"So you want to be known as threatening and for evoking fear? You have to be better than that." Coming from Duke, it was a desperate plea. He always thought the daughter of Poseidon stood out for her single-mindedness. He'd never guess her to want to fit into the god's shadow or fetch approval so badly.

She only persisted in pushing him further back, Duke's eyes fixed on Liv's dark pair. But somewhere he had to draw the line. His hands came up finally gripping her upper arms, unbeknownst to him too late. "Liv.." he began. "Come on, be better than this." The seduction to conform to godly impulses was too easy and it ran in all their bloods. Sex, punishment and revenge, reckless power demonstrations, murder. There had to be some demigods that broke the cycle.

A certain something brushed by his leg making him stiffen. He looked through the water to inspect the undeniable source but Liv cupped his face. "Oh, Duke - there's so much more to fear than drowning. The children of Poseidon command all in the sea's domain." A feeling of doom hit him. There was no time for retaliation before she pushed him and suddenly he was submerged.

The first reaction was to surface. Scramble for air. Sharp pricks on his arms prevented him from swimming up immediately. All around him were a swarm of seemingly agitated snakes, an amount he had never seen in one vicinity before. When taken under the rule was to remain calm and when faced with predators, supposedly the same. He didn’t know he could play the patient game when he was losing oxygen though. His eyes burned and he squeezed them shut the same time he braced to swim through the thicket of snakes. His limbs were met with more bites and constrictions, his movements encouraging the serpents only to squeeze tighter until he felt numb.

Duke forced his eyes open again trying to rip a particularly peristent snake from coiling firmer around his leg. These creatures were smarter than usual...more coordinated.

Air. Air. His lungs burned. He desperately needed to breathe again. He was losing his fight. It became a struggle. His body naturally soared in temperature, some bred defence mechanism. That was it. Even for the cold blooded creatures there was such thing as too hot. He didn't need flames just needed to embody intense heat. Heat rose. With more consciousness involved Duke began to spread the temperature through his veins. Some were repelled from the heat he was giving off and he took that opening to kick and stroke with what power remained in his muscles.

A flurry of bubbles almost obstructed his vision but he knew up and up was the way to go. He gasped when finally his head reached above water, paddling desperately to keep himself above it. Duke located shore and headed for it.

Somehow he managed to haul himself to the shallows then collapsed on all fours, coughing and spluttering all the while trying to suck in breaths for air still. The adversary left him pale, chest heaving, droplets of water with a steady stream of blood sliding down his body from where bites littered his skin. There was a predominent sting on his side, making him wince and grunt. One of Liv's pet's still latched onto his hip hissing, body flailing to try wrap around Duke's large torso in vain. He pinched below the snake's head with his index and thumb giving the creature a chance to suffocate or let go. Nature chose the later and Duke tossed it back to sea.

Duke glared up at Liv, a murderous edge to his look. He wanted training not a death wish. There was such thing as too far but apparently she didn't care. "You made your choice then?" he asked. Because somehow and in some way he still hoped the daughter of Poseidon hadn't chosen to get her dad's attention in such a way. That she could be independent beyond anything and moody. Not a desperate murderous daddy's girl. But if he looked at the circumstances...felt how badly his body burned and how close to drowning he came...of course she made her choice.

He turned away from her coughing out the last bit of ingested water. The rumbling and lights from the sky reminded him he had to get moving. Reluctant as he was. He shakily got to his feet without looking at her again. The thing with Liv was he was more disappointed because he placed blind faith in her. Considering she wasn't a fan of Trintiy and Alex what she just pulled was no better than those girls' lack of boundaries.

Respect wasn't earned between the two but he couldn't just walk off on her without her understanding why - in addition to nearly killing him. "Mm...Powerful but...'hought you were smart. Better..." he panted struggling to keep his eyes open. Struggling to stand on his own two feet. He got about two steps into the sand before collapsing again not able to catch himself this time. A dark haze clouded his vision and took over his mind.

Daniel Vadas
Hecate | HEX: #8b9068 | Outfit

Image "I had a great time, despite how it ended. I don't think I did so well with that game though. I never played it before. It got pretty awkward between Sylas and I hehe. What was the purpose of it? I know you and Cherise were in there and ya'll looked pretty happy exiting. Maybe you can explain to me what was suppose to happen?"

Daniel's face went from brows furrowed in confusion to a smile as some red tinted his cheeks. "There's no set in stone rule but most people..." he began, looking at Kohana for support, hoping she'd chip in. "tend to use the time and privacy to kiss. Or do what your heart or body desire. I'm surprised he didn't try anything." Granted, Daniel didn't know the guy but he came off super smug and using a participant or two in a closet didn't seem beyond him. But he was relieved for Nelly. Providing she wasn't developing a little crush.

Next came the question about how often they got force trained, the two girls suddenly possessing a new spark of energy making Daniel smile. Also neither of them could really help themselves from mentioning the lack of friends, though it was more an off hand comment made by him. "Rarely. Normally staff run events or ‘major exercises’ to test our skills, force us to bond but otherwise it’s up to us really. You could always contribute to the suggestion box." He opened his palm and gestured to it, as if the daughters of Hermes would scribble something down immediately and place it into his hand. Daniel was the man that could make things happen after all. And he would seriously pitch to staff if it was something Daniel thought would be more the merrier. Or the more the more chaotic and troublesome.

"Also," Daniel raised a finger, turning his head in shame and gulping. "It hurts that you don't look at us as friends." He let the dejected act linger for a beat or two before flashing a grin. Daniel knew the friendship status would unravel in time. Particularly with such easy girls to get along with.

He got to his feet. "You might have a super fast metabolism but 5 minute rule before training begins." Daniel looked between the lovely girls, knocked on the table and headed out.

At least that was his initial destination before he pulled himself short at Evelyn's table, the girl miles away from the present. "Rough night?" She didn't look in her usual pristine condition and he totally got that witnessing last night's events would be tough to sleep on. When he first saw a demigod violent fight he...well he actually kinda liked it because he was somewhat sadistic and liked the drama and action of the place.

"Did you want a coffee?" Daniel looked around ready to fetch her some pick me up at her word.

"A few of us are going to train a bit if you want to join." He shrugged nonchalantly. "Up to you. No pressure but you should definitely do it." He flashed her a last smile and left. She didn't seem mighty approachable or like someone to bug after a tough encounter.

Daniel wandered to infirmary from there, shoving his hands in his pockets once again struck by a case of ADD. But when he saw Cherise, how could he help himself. He lit up like a child at Christmas just seeing her and if he timed it right...Daniel placed himself right in her path. He didn't entirely know why he went full school boy around her because "hey Cherise" was probably as likely to get her attention as aiming to bump into her. "Oh my gosh, such a coincidence!" He brought his hands out of his pockets to gesture to her, smile in place.

"So - so how's Andy doing?" She saw her later than Daniel did. But it's not even what he wanted to talk to her about. He threw himself in front of Cherise because...she was great in short. Great women that were easy to get along with and super magnetic, but were bad ass on the side with their marksmenship skills didn't stay single long. If she was even single. Daniel rubbed his neck uneasily. Sure, they kissed but some alcohol plus heat of the moment...didn't mean he could assume someone like her was free, or even interested with the giant elephant he had to explain.

He slid aside wearing a tight smile so she could have the whole pathway unobstructed again. "I'm trying to hold a mini training session if you want to be medic on stand by or have live target practice. You, me, two newbies. Could make it a team session."

Somewhere inside he was facepalming. He knew he couldn't skirt around it forever but he just wanted to have fun with her, live easy while time and camp events allowed.

By the time the son of Hephaestus’ vision slipped into a field of black, the warm waters of the beach rolling across his ankles with the ebb and flow of a morning tide, Liv was standing just inches away. Dark hair blew in the wind, the fingers of the sun illuminating hints of red and gold. Her eyes stared out into the woods that were just ahead, and she just stood there quietly. Thoughts flooded her mind. Emotions flooded her being.

That was the curse of being a child of Poseidon; emotions are always as ever changing as the very sea itself. One moment she reeled in the bitterness of events that have already transpired, and the next she is feeling… horrible with the outcome. When the cold logic of her actions washed over her, she knew she had let the monster, that was her unstable emotional self, take over. When the thrill of anger was gone, there was only that sharp pang of regret.

Duke hadn’t done anything to her. If anything, he was one of the more agreeable Demigods. Yet, as she turned around slowly to glance at his unmoving body, he was laying there in the sand because she had taken advantage of his genuine nature. She tilted her head and continued to stare down at him in silence; her thoughts flirting with several things.

She could walk away and make her point. This would mark her as a threatening Demigod, and this was what her father would have wanted. However, she’d possibly alienate herself from everyone. Her father was right - she is not privileged like a daughter or son of Zeus. No one would spare her for her actions. No one would be able to see her point of view. She’d just be another monstrous spawn of the Earth Shaker. Part of her didn’t mind this idea, but Liv still had a rational mind - even if her emotions sometimes overshadowed it greatly.

She could help him; drag him into the sea and heal him. Water was a natural element of healing, and Poseidon could do it. Liv could do it. But then what happens after? She’d just be another Demigod that talked the talk but never walks the walk. Another big mouth. She would have made threats that she could not go through with. She’d definitely let her father down.

Either way, she doubted that it would matter. Nothing would change. She could stay or leave, heal or not - the outcome is the same. It settles nothing. Neither choice would make her feel worse or better about herself or her father’s approval.

All children seek the approval of their parents. It’s a perfectly natural phenomenon that contributes to confusion, hostility, insecurity, and more in both humans and Demigods. Poseidon was hard to please, and though he loved all of his children dearly, it didn’t mean that he had to treat them with kindness. He was either scalding hot or extremely cold. There’s no in between.

She ran both of her hands through her now short hair; a gesture of conflicted emotions that caused her to be confused and painfully aware of herself in this particular situation. With a heavy sigh, she looked back down at Duke and made her decision. Though she’d likely regret it, she knew that this was the best course of action. There was no pride in making an innocent pay for someone else’s slights. She’d settle her scores with the appropriate individuals when the time is right.

She moved behind him, leaned over and grabbed his ankles. Limp bodies are pretty damn heavy, and Duke was no exception to this. Liv was not the strongest, either. She pulled and pulled, the tide lowering a bit and the waves slipped further from the shoreline. She had to drag him back a bit more, and once she got him into a place where he was at least partially covered by water, she fell back onto her butt and cursed his weight. His head ended up on her lap, face up, of course. Somehow.

She closed her eyes, tapped into the gentle side of the sea’s power, and stayed her more dour emotions and thoughts to pave the way for her more docile and friendly nature. That’s how this was supposed to work, right? She was supposed to suddenly feel sorry, which she did, and that she was being irrational - and magically, the water was supposed to do something glowy and heal him.

But nothing happened. Nothing happened for a few minutes, and it was just awkward.

Until Poseidon entered the scene himself, as haughty as ever. His towering figure rose from the ocean, arms crossed over his chest as he walked toward them. The water that shallowly surrounded Duke and Liv began to work its healing magic, and the Hephaestus son would soon be able to awaken with no pain and no snake bites. He spoke as Duke healed, “It seems you are my daughter after all. The rage. The jealousy. The bittersweet thought of vengeance. Alas, you can not yet follow through. You will learn to get past the guilt when you realize that no one will ever care for you the way you care for them. Only then can you wash away the traces of your guilt. If you want my crown, you will have to bear its weight.” It almost sounded like he was reminiscing about himself. He looked down on Duke with a tilted head, then back to Liv. He cared a great deal about his children, but his love was a little more on the tougher side. “Fortunately for you, I was in the area. I would advise you not to use the power of the sea so… recklessly, unless you are prepared to handle the consequences. Wasteful.”

With that said, he turned away and disappeared into the ocean before his daughter had the chance to respond. This just left Duke, Liv and one awkward situation. Yet, she couldn’t find it in herself to just leave the scene, and she most certainly did not want to drag him back out. So, she just sat there, her hands limply laid on his shoulders, as the ebb and flow of the sea all but calmed.

Ethan and Heath watched others in the Hall. Evelyn was by herself and didn't look like she wanted company. Nelly and some new girl were talking with Daniel. The two of them ate in companionable silence and soon were done. It was at this time that Daniel talked with Evelyn before leaving the hall entirely. It wasn't long after that that Evelyn left.

"I wonder where everyone else is?"

"Who knows, probably doing their own thing. I don't want to know where Lia is though."

"Why don't you go look for her then? You have that locator stone."

"What about you?"

"Me? I am going to stay here and meet the new person. I'll catch up with you at some point okay?"

Heath nodded and taking his dirty dishes, left his friend to his own exploits before taking the dishes to the back and then left. Ethan soon cleaned up his area before coming over to Nelly and the new girl.

"Morning Nelly! Who's the new girl?"

Nelly was a bit surprised by Ethan but quickly bounced back, "Oh hey Ethan! This is . . . . . Kohana, right?"

That last part had been directed at Kohana. Nelly was glad to see Ethan. Of course she saw him and Heath come in but was too busy with Kohana and Daniel. It was then she remembered Daniel said training would start in 5 minutes.

"OMG! I totally forgot that Daniel wanted to train soon! I better take my camera back to my cabin so it doesn't get damaged! I'll be back soon okay? Let Daniel know that when he shows up."

With that, Nelly took off jogging, leaving her dirty dishes behind. Ethan looked perplexed. Training? Looking at the other girl, Ethan decided to introduce himself.

"Hi, I am Ethan. I am Hestia's son. There's going to be training soon? I take it you just got in? My companions and myself just got in a few days ago," Ethan said as he casually sat down in front of the demigoddess.

And what a crazy few days it's been.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Iliana was trying her best to find her brother and Ethan. She did end up checking their cabin first just to be sure. They hadn't been there. The next place to check out was the Hall. As she left their cabin, her thoughts once again drifted back to what just happened. Ares had said the Valises were going to Olympus for a bit. Why was the question. Maybe it had something to do what happened last night? Iliana wished she been able to do something about that situation, but it was all said and done. Iliana then thought about the incident she had just witness between Ajax, Mason, and Andy. She really ought to check on Mason and Andy at some point. But for now she would try to find Heath and Ethan and let them know what she saw this morning for they were bound to ask what she'd been up to.
Iliana's thoughts were dashed though when she came closer to the beach and saw a figure coming out of the water.
Now what was happening? Coming closer, she saw it was none other then Poseidon. She stopped where she stood, so she couldn't hear was was being said.
~I seem to be getting into the habit of stumbling upon situations. How am I suppose to avoid things that are none of my concern if stuff like this keeps happening?~ she thought to herself.
Iliana herself had only a few interactions with sea god. He was definitely the mysterious type. Soon the god left and Iliana soon saw he had been interacting with Liv. Iliana remembered her from the trial. Taking a better look, she saw someone else was there. Curiosity getting the better of her, Iliana walked up to see Duke on the ground with his head on Liv's lap. Concerned, Iliana sat on the sand next to the pair. Looking at Liv, she quickly wrote something down and showed it to Liv.
~Is everything okay? Hi, I am Iliana and I can't speak so this is how I communicate. You're Liv, Poseidon's daughter right? I remember you speaking up during Alex's trial. Did Duke get hurt?~
Son of Hephaestus | HEX: #780707 | Outfit
Image Duke sprang to life or so it seemed to him, chest heaving in and out, pale lips quivering. He joined darkness for god knows how long but due to the fact that Liv was nearby...it couldn't have been that long. He shifted to face the daughter of Poseidon, torn between giving her a coherent piece of his mind or thanking her for the humane help. Instead, he settled on a nod to her. Thanking aloud someone who put your life in danger in the first place was too bizarre.
It was only then he noticed the smaller more quiet girl next to Liv. How long had she been there? Did she watch the whole show or convince Liv to save him? Duke glanced down to his body, rid of the puncture marks her snakes had left in him. There was still a pinching sensation where the teeth had been and a burning in his lungs but likely that was his mind not keeping up with his body being healed. After sitting and recomposing himself for long enough, decidedly, he pushed off the ground and rose to full height and offered Liv a hand up. Then the blonde, still unsure of her involvement. She certainly didn't give off malicious vibes and until he gave her reason not to, he'd treat her with some respect.
Feeling no compulsion to talk or explain the situation, Duke looked to the sky where he had last seen the commotion of lights, brows pinched together, pensive. Had he missed his window to join the Valises in Olympus? He couldn’t imagine the gods waiting on him. But supposedly, his view of them was rather outdated. Even so, he couldn't say he regretted training / nearly dying. He turned his head away from the distance and back onto the present company. "Did you learn something at least?"
He hoped it was an experience for her too. Something revealing about her character or maybe it wasn't as deep as that at all. A simple power exercise for the slim brunette.
She didn't ask for feedback, but Duke gave it. "I think you have amazing potential. Good application and good understanding of your powers.... I'd venture a guess you know that too somewhere. It's just about how and when you use them." The daughter of Poseidon proved a degree of instability. Duke saw a live wire in her and a ticking bomb.
He spared a quick glance to the blonde, letting her know that was meant for her too. His last statement applied to most camp attendees. In the end it all depended what you used your abilities for. "You can tag team in for me," he told her and actually half smiled at the image of the two facing off with whatever powers. Maybe it'd bring the more timid out of her shell abruptly.
Duke picked up his top that was abandoned in the sand giving it a brief shake before pulling it back on. If the others were still around, he'd arrive in Olympus in quite a state. But again, it was something he was unapologetic for. And because of that he found himself moving towards Liv, placing a hand on a pale upper arm to grab her attention. "Thank you." Not for saving him but for being herself and honest. Unrestrained and raw. An experience even if it was a reminder why he hated large bodies of water.
"I'm going to Olympus for a while but otherwise, I'm usually here for anything. My cabin's open for a little retreat, warmth, anything."
"Next time, make it a tsunami with sharks." Once again, he flashed half a smile then nodded to Iliana before finally leaving that forsaken beach behind.
No, Liv didn't ask for his praise or criticism. In fact, she didn't want any of it at all. The pair of them were standing, and Poseidon's daughter had her arms crossed and expression flat. "Just stay away from me, Duke," she told him pointedly as he was done with his word vomit. God, that guy just talked on and on.
She was about to move when he decided to put a hand on her arm, and it was strangely comforting yet also slightly irritating. She almost killed him, and here he was - trying to be a good guy. As if Liv wasn't already greatly conflicted, Duke only served to add more to that plate. She wasn't going to correct him when he thanked her for something she didn't do, as that's what she believed the gratefulness to have stemmed from. Liv didn't heal him, her father did. She hadn't done anything other than nearly kill him. Yet, she also didn't want to put on her guilty face, even if she felt that way deep inside. That would imply she cared just a little bit, and she didn't want to. The people at this Camp were just snakes in a garden, and it was annoying.
"Then go, Duke. Enjoy Olympus," she swatted his hand away before he could withdraw it himself. "There won't be a next time," she promised as she stepped to the side. Poor Iliana would be harshly shoulder-checked as the emotionally volatile Liv moved past her. "You stay away, too, if you know what's good for you."
Liv didn't want to be around people. Today seemed like one of those days - one that would be slow and uneventful. She'd be glad about that. Without further words to be exchanged, she left the meek blond on the beach and wandered off to her cabin. Along the way, she had picked up and tugged on her clothes, walked past Liam, Trinity, and Wes, and eventually shut her cabin door behind her. She flopped onto her bed face-first once she got into her room and decided that she'd just nap this day away. If the world was fair, she'd just nap this whole Camp Athens experience away.
Whether Rae knew better than to bring up the fact that Sloane had clearly been crying at some point or she just didn't care, was up in the air. The redhead had very little concern over other people's emotions, given that there were few things at Camp Athens to shed tears over. In her opinion, anyway. At the same time, she was aware of the very real emotions of other people. Perhaps that is why she flashed a swift smile at the poor joke regarding the woman's lineage. Sloane was clearly not a daughter of Ares.
Both of the ladies agreed that it was way past the morning hours, as much as Rae hated to admit that she accidentally allowed time to fly by and missed breakfast. Or did she? Gods, she can't remember. So, the girls ventured down one of the Camp's many forested paths toward the cafeteria.
All was going well, and then there were two men before them. Two very handsome men, too. Of course, the redhead put on that flirty smile and gave them a cute finger waggling wave. There was Wes - she didn't know him. In fact, she doesn't recall ever meeting him. Then there was Liam - the one that practically ran away from her cabin door this morning. She stared at the hulk for a few seconds, recalling that humorous scene with a mute chuckle that simply shook her shoulders. Then it hit her - Sloane had been there that morning, hovering in the background. Curious. The women had long since stopped in their tracks, and Sloane and Liam seemed to exchange some kind of look.
Let's face it. It was not hard to put two and two together. Sloane had been crying, Liam looks like a wounded animal, and Wes was just... Wes. Before Rae could say or do anything, Sloane had grabbed her arm and was well on her way to dragging the Artemis child away from the scene. Naturally, she went along with it, giving the boys a parting wave as she was hauled away. Luckily, Wes and Liam seemed content to stay where they were.
When they finally stopped, and Rae's arm was released, she gave the spot where Sloane had gripped it a gentle rub. "Long story," Sloane informed her, and Rae raised a brow at that.
There was a light scoff to her lips shortly after they resumed their walk, "I'm going to go ahead and just say that it's probably not a story I haven't heard, and it really doesn't concern me." Rae wasn't trying to be an unfriendly person, but sympathy did not come easy to her. That, and she really wanted to avoid the drama of the Camp. There was something about a bunch of girls and boys together that created a nasty cocktail of love triangles, drama, etc - and with all the things that a Demigod could do, it wasn't wise to meddle in the affairs of others.
She turned to face her slightly as they walked, her steps taken sideways for a few minutes. She had her arms crossed over her chest, "Though, I do want to point out that I've never seen a problem solved by crying over or avoiding it. Honestly, women need to stop saying sorry and crying all of the time. Avoiding things... crying... it's so exhausting. It's a big problem with our sex, not that you asked."
They were at the Mess Hall in no time, and as the two ladies put their meals together and sat down, it was quiet. Rae was aware that her opinions were just that - opinions, and that they were not always well-received. Whether or not she was thought of as nice or rude was of no concern to her, and holding her tongue didn't do any party well. "I don't know what's going on, but..." she began halfway through their meal, "If you need any advice on men, I am pretty good at thinking like one. I can't promise that I will hold things back, but I don't agree in the whole white lie to spare feelings thing." She waved her fork around with those last few words, then went back to eating.
Daniel Vadas
Hecate | HEX: #8b9068 |
ImageOne last theatrical flip and - "Everyone to the arena, immediately." Splat. The pancake missed the pan and fell to the floor. But the voice that called out was one that demanded obedience. Or at least was one he personally didn't want to trifle with. Interesting though. It wasn't Zeus or his spawn.
Daniel turned off the Valis cabin appliances and hurried to the arena for this urgent summoning. He fell into a seat automatically, not caring for once who he ended up by, eyes only intrigued on the congregation of Gods and what was in store for him and fellow peers. From there, Poseidon laid down the law. Daniel's eyes shifted to the Witch-Goddess curiously as she summoned an archway for more of a sense of what was happening. The answer came after, being nothing but bad news. And for calling the attention of the gods and hell to pay, Poseidon even said who they could thank: being Slenderman and Mr. Roids. Usually, one to try find a bright side, Daniel couldn't and he gave a dirty look to the perpetrators. Basically, they all had to be exposed and raw for everyone to see because a couple of campers acted out.
One Sloane Astor was called first and Daniel didn't doubt for a second about how Poseidon told them they'd feel and know nothing else other than the illusion the moment they stepped through the portal. So good luck to her. Because he didn't know the girl, he naively expected less drama. Maybe like giant spiders, but no, they got a whole emotional, brutal and personal horror show. Once again fortifying what a vulnerable time this would be for them all. Nobody could escape the gods' powers or bury their own secrets, traumas, fears. The worst would come.
"Heath Taylor! Step forward!" Another person's deepest fears were put on display for them to see.
"Daniel Vadas!" A part of him wanted to shrink down and go back to having identity issues so he didn't have to stand and expose fears as well as face some buried trauma. But the combination of Poseidon and Ares stern gaze moved him onward and through the portal.
He found himself in the hall, something oppressive in the air. Around him the demigods looked like they used to, demigods he hadn't seen in a year, even Wes in his peripheral had two arms. Daniel stepped up to Andy. "You okay sis? You look like you're ready." And that she was, dressed in battle gear, light armor and armed. He gave her a weak smile before pulling her into a long hug, and he kept holding her for a time.
"I'm kind of terrified," she admitted in a whisper.
Something churned in his gut saying he didn't want to let go. Once he did, bad things would happen. He didn't want anyone to step out of the hall. But he let her go, like it couldn't be helped and tapped her chin unwillingly. "Wish I met you sooner."
"Yeah... Well, we're going to survive this so you can bug me more."
Those words made his heart sink. Oh no. This was worse than de ja vu. Daniel demanded he stop and do something different. Lock the doors, teleport away, etc. but it was like his body was on autopilot and two consciences were clashing. He approached Alex next, dropping off a comment to ease the tension. She sighed and bumped past him, and he couldn't even avoid her literal cold shoulder. He strode to Trinity next, looking for comfort in a plan the Valises hadn't given but most the demigods had already dispersed outside, prepared for a fight as individuals. And he himself followed in doomed footsteps.
Stonemen charged at the demigods, finding gaps through the barrier set around camp and they fought them off for the most part though Daniel felt off balance and like it was all too hectic to handle. They were playing heavy defence. But then the barrier that bought them time started to flicker and crash, making way for the giants to barrel through.
This is when it happened. He wanted to back away, even if his peers thought him a coward, he'd rather run and survive for another day. But he stood his ground, set to make the same mistake, and forced a giant to its knees with his powers. He gave the extra pull with all his might and power, appearing to make the giant's chest leap outward. Stop! Look over your shoulder. Let go! No matter what his voice demanded or how he hoped somebody else could alter this nightmare, he knew what was due.
A harsh pain suddenly emerged, puncturing through his body like a pin cushion, the tip of a blade poking out his chest. The giant smirked. The steel withdrew slowly and the battle continued on around him. "And..-" he couldn't say her name as breath left him. Shortly after, so did his whole life.
From that moment he faced a void. There was nothingness. No Styx, hospital room, Elysium, Underworld. Emptiness. And him all alone. Of course he tried some magic but to no avail. "Mom?" he called, pacing around.
Slowly, his limitless cage did begin to take on some cloudy shapes. The first that materialised was a pyre. Some demigods gathered around but no tears were shed and there was some bullshit organic speech made. "A good friend and acquaintance to us all, he will be missed." Daniel scoffed unimpressed, meanwhile people phased right through him when returning to their cabins. If this was the departure he got as the last farwell...where was Andy!? Or Mason. Despite his suspicions he did try snapping his fingers in a couple of demigods faces, demanding attention but he didn't exist to them.
It took a bit of wandering to locate his sister, but when he found her she had reserved herself to crying and scribbling on some paper. Daniel hated to see her in such a state so he crept closer. "I'm still here, you're not alone." But Andy didn't even twitch. He frowned stepping closer to see she had a small fire going, and she tossed in a locket, symbols etched into the table. "Hey, no, no, whatever voodoo you're doing, stop."
As expected his sister didn't respond. Hecate emerged from another room. "You're sure about this?"
Daniel's eyes narrowed into a squint and he peeked over Andy's shoulder spotting a memory spell. Before he could order not to, they were off with the chanting. Daniel stood there stunned she could do such a thing without second thought- even if there was a second thought, she did it regardless! Hecate was partly to blame but Andy he had more hope in, she had to have more sense than that. His heart pounded dangerously at the betrayal and consequences to follow. Andy's face went blank and her emotions seemed to subside, and she wiped away some tears like they were foreign.
Image "The effects of war toll us all. But at least you didn't lose anybody important," Hecate said.
His eyes lifted to a glare on his mother before he turned and walked away. Daniel paced off to inspect the domino effect of the spell. No photos of him, no cabin or possessions, no furniture, no gravesite. They had plunged him into a state of non-existence entirely. "What have you done?"
Somebody had to remember something or see him. He tried several attempts to get attention, from ghosting things to trying to shake his peers, the frustration and reality only settling in with every passing second. He'd rather the blissful abyss.
"Hey." A gorgeous brunette offered an assuring smile, emanating instant comfort, warmth and trust.
Daniel mirrored her smile and started towards her. Of course, if anyone could pull a miracle, it'd be her. Somebody passed through him, wrapping Cherise up in an arm and they walked off together.
Daniel fell against a wall in defeat. Before he knew it, his palm then fist struck at it a few times before sliding down. Erased from existence entirely.... He hugged his legs and hung his head down wishing there was no after life for him. That he died and the lights simply went out.
A breeze hit his skin and Daniel lifted his head from the ball he was morphing into. He was in the arena - no. He was back in the arena. A tear escaped his eye from what he was suppressing in the illusion and he returned to his seat with what left over dignity allowed.
He had showered, headed to the hall for something to eat, and just at the tail end of his breakfast, Andy came through. She only had to wait a little longer but he guessed patience wasn't her virtue. However that turned out to be the least of his worries.
The ground shook beneath them. Mason tried to jump to his feet, but as quick as it came it subsided, followed by a voice ordering them to meet in the arena. Mason gave the same startled and confused expression as Andy had to him when she flashed by his side. "What the hell was that?!"
He held her for a second though the semi quake had gone. "I have no idea." He looked her over, checking she was okay. The only outstanding condition being her emotional state, like a lot of people's in that moment. "Stay close, okay?" Mason rubbed her arm before releasing her.
The only thing to do from there was listen to the voice and head to the arena. When he saw the Gods lying in wait for them, he felt immediate dread and they all willingly signed their executions, trapping themselves in the Gods mercy. But, he had to note, at least there was no Zeus. Where was the big guy?
Mason let himself absently get dragged along with Andy expecting to see Zeus emerge and punish them all for not bowing before Alex and Ajax. Although there was no Zeus taking the reins, Mason wasn't far off the truth. Poseidon dove into a lecture of how pathetic there quarelling was. He didn't mind the scolding so much even if it did hit home but then there was the catch. A supposed solution that Mason hated right away. They'd enter an illusion where they bare all. It seemed he wasn't the only one to dislike the idea as Andy grabbed his hand, her demeanor changing into a frightened deer's.
He clenched her hand leaning towards her, eyes on the portal as Sloane approached. "It'll be over quickly. You and Daniel will thrive in an illusion."
Turned out watching the first victim's to the Gods punishment wasn't very quick or painless. The girl had layers of issues in her illusion and they all got to see it. Mason swallowed guiltily for offering Andy sweet nothings. Then Sloane was told to stay and watch everyone else's. Great.
The hair model was called next. His illusion was also soul bearing and a spectacle for everyone. Somewhere in the seats the emotional mute was getting antsy and causing scene. He supposed it did hurt seeing the ones you love in pain. Meanwhile Andy was gripping his hand tighter. "It's okay," he whispered.
Like the universe had to counter everything he said, Daniel was summoned next. Even he looked weary about the whole process. Once Daniel's began to play out, Mason quickly recognized it was the beginning of the war last year. Daniel had a giant down, and Mason found himself in Iliana's shoes for once, wanting to lunge out of his seat and help him or support him as one would a football game or something. Come on, buddy. He saw one of those stonemen slip behind him. The blade ran its course, piercing through Daniel and Mason winced.
Where was he at that time? Why wasn't anyone watching Daniel's back? Mason risked a look at Andy in the corner of his eyes as Daniel's hell rolled onwards until he was some forgotten ghost. Mason thought on that for a bit. A life without Daniel ever entering, or, knowing about him. He guessed if there ever was some poltergeist at camp, it'd be Daniel driving himself mad in loneliness.
Mason followed his friend all the way back to his seat. He'd be okay. Once they finished up here, Mason would see him and they'd talk some things out.
