After a sea saw of fors and against they led Alex to the basin. It showed her stabbing her mother repeatedly and Trinity cringed as the girl became a wailing mess, pleading for it to stop. Well, fuck. Trinity looked hesistantly to Liam. “Would you be able to hurt your mum with Ares rage?” she whispered. She didn't think the rage and violence of even Ares could compel Trinity to hurt her family. Including on the worst day.

But then her eye caught Eve sitting with Theo. Fucking fuck. She lost sight of him during the fight. She was tempted to wave her arms around and warn him to the dangers of the succubus. The blonde already had a date with Wes, she couldn't cozy on up to Theo too. “Dirtbag,” she grumbled. Ultimately she didn't do a thing aside from commentating because the company the boys kept were their own decisions.

This fight wasn't hers. It was the Valises' and Mason's. She was tired. Trinity got up and chose to leave, thankfully as the particularly irritating voice of Liv stood out, detached and nosy as ever.

Right now for the welfare of herself and campmates, the only thing to do was leave early. She mounted a Pegasus. “Back to camp please.” She wasn't sure if they understood English or needed a command but there it was and the creature broke into a gallop and took to the skies again. If she had any control of the horse she might have flown around the Acropolis and given the bird to everyone, but straight to Camp would do.

* xxx * xxx * xxx *

Trinity let out a deep breath as she arrived back in camp, banned from the group outing because she couldn't promise to behave. The Camp was frightening when it was abandoned. Sure nature was still green, the ocean still blue and vibrant, even in the dark, but it was a ghost town without the bodies of camp drifting through.

She thought she'd be at camp and inner peace would be restored because she didn't have to look at any faces that would infuriate her but she just felt purposeless. Trinity wandered to her own cabin and took off her maroon cardigan, catching another glimpse of the bruises and claw marks on her arms. She smiled a little and lifted her top, checking the new little fight marks on her body. Trinity always could conjure a dash of respect to an opponent who fought back. The same opponent who had also said something about Wes's cabin being a mess.

Trinity decided to inspect the damage for herself. She didn't know why she was so compelled to see the state of his cabin. Probably because somewhere it meant there was no date at his cabin tonight, and that meant she could start finding reasons to be wrong. Trinity pushed the door ajar, slipping through the gap. “Oh, Wes,” she muttered, seeing the mess in the cast of moonlight. Furniture was turned upside down, she saw pieces of debris scattered along the floor by the things that hadn't endured his tantrum in one piece.

She sighed out and hooked up his speakers first so she could listen to something while she tried to restore the room. Wes had great taste in music but she just wanted her own crap on for the moment. A song came on that Trinity forgot she ever had. She pricked up her ears, contemplating skipping it. Initially, the song didn't seem aggressive enough, but it reminded her of a certain someone and turned therapeutic for her to join in with. She began turning the furniture upright then knelt on the floor to gather the broken pieces, wood chips and so on. “Maybe if I act like that, flippin' my blonde hair back, push up my bra like that, I don't wanna be a stupid girl.” She hummed along with Pink. She placed a couple of salvaged bits and bobs back on the table and got to her feet. “I'm so glad that I'll never fit in, that will never be me.” Trinity waltzed around the cabin and started imitating being a plastic blonde, flicking her hair about and sticking out her chest to name a few token moves as she cleaned up, and yes, at one point, using the furniture to slut drop and poke out her ass.

The freedom to act how she wanted and be mocking and bitter and a bit of an idiot, without judgement, was relieving. Why, it was even like she was unwinding which she was in desperate need of. Trinity didn't even think of an excuse if she was busted intruding in Wes's cabin, but it was all for the greater good. She knew her manners and she wasn't invading his privacy or snooping around, just repairing a cabin she was partially at fault for destroying.

Trinity stepped back, cocking her to the side. Everything was up again and it was no longer a safety hazard to walk through but it wasn't straight either. She nudged the furniture with her knee and stepped back again to see if things aligned better this time around. Trinity didn't have the patience or careful touch to do things delicately and bring it back to Aphrodite pristine standards. So while it wasn't perfect, it was better than him cleaning up from scratch.

Being attacked by the emotionally vulnerable was an inevitable byproduct of trying to remain as unbiased as possible whilst also attempting to reach the same goal: an end to the trial and the doubt once and for all. First it was Keith with his side comment, ”Sorry, we forgot to bring Jenn’s head to appease you.”. That came as expected, and she allowed it to roll off of her shoulder. Clearly her entire argument was dismissed immediately for bitterness.

Then there was Andromeda, of whom was understandably on the defense. Only a few words struck Poseidon’s daughter as particularly so, and she realizes that perhaps it was she who made an err in speech. Either that, or no one chose to listen to her - just like in Trinity’s case. Instead of listening, everyone just jumps to conclusions. It was impossible to help anyone here, honestly. ”As for evidence, what do you want? Her corpse? I buried her out of respect for the dead and her loved ones. And I won't exhume her body for spectacle."

Literally no one offered anything of value that would draw the trial to an end. Instead, emotions and pleas to her friendliness or tempered manner were being brought up - as if any of that had to do with anything. After all, some of the most notorious serial killers had families and were folks of charismatic persuasion. Friendliness meant nothing to those that were not capable of being emotional, or even worse, those that simply knew how to act without betraying the fact that they were psychopaths. All of their points were moot. The memory pool, something reminiscent of a past that may or may not have actually been (because everyone assumes all Demigods come here with knowledge of all of these things), is interesting - but it’s not proof of this murder.

“Sanity is an issue when we are talking about the capabilities of manipulations. Also, no one was asking for proof of a murder or that the girl is, indeed, dead. Rather, proof that it was an act committed by Alex alone and of her own volition. No one listens here. But please do carry on with your emotional ramblings so that we can be here forever for something that can be solved, irrefutably, with proof. But if you guys are fine just taking jabs at each other and taking sides without actually knowing the truth, well... Who the fuck cares? It's only a trial.” She would leave it there, crossing her arms over her chest and flinging her feet on the back of the seat in front of her (if that was possible). Alex was not her friend, and this whole trial had nothing to do with her. But if this was going to be how trials work and how illogical and ready her peers are to attack each other based on how they feel, then gods help any of them that land themselves in Alex’s spot in the future. Maybe they will be lucky to have another rational being up here, like Liv, trying to figure out the actual happenings instead of allowing them to be slaughtered by their personality.

Finally, voices of reason and logic break through all thr bullshit. This interested Liv. Her eyes swivel toward Ethan and Heath, head tilted. When their questions are addressed, it seemed half-assed. Jennova's brother had no interest in the truth; only in convicting Alex. A shame that all the logical bystanders were being quietly or vocally admonished while the emotional headaches were so heroic.

Since there was no one really listening, and everyone is so angry about trying to find truth and justice in a logical and rational manner, she closes her eyes, leans back, and pops some earbuds into her ears. There was honestly no one here worth the trouble, and daddy-dearest was doing gods knows what.

"Oh Cherise, I don't know how much your father told you about Iliana, but we are trying to keep what happened to her a bit private since it's up to Iliana if she wants to talk about it. Only gods who know about Iliana are Zeus, Athena, your father, Hypnos, Hermes, Hestia, and myself. Also my daughter can not speak at the moment so she communicates through her notebook. Have fun you two." She smiles at that, giving Demeter a rather goofy two-fingered salute. At least, from a distance she probably looked silly. Probably up close, too. ”Not a problem! The secret is safe with me,” she chimes, bouncing on her heels whilst rendering the famous gesture of zipping her mouth shut. Then she’d grab the girl gently by the wrist, if she was allowed to do so, and they’d be off! She hopes that her rather innocent and eccentric demeanor might give off a good vibe. Someone that does both the two-fingered salute and the zippy mouth is certainly not hostile!

Cherise guides Iliana to a chosen seat; ensuring that she settled down and was reassured before she, herself, sat. She offered her a quick pat on the thigh; a platonic gesture that further implies that she’s well within reach just in case anything should arise. Not that Apollo’s daughter was particularly strong or capable of certain things, but she was an amiable presence in the midst of all of this… chaos.

Next was Keith, as he also required something of a kind presence beside him. While Cherise did not know the depths in which Keith was dragged into during the events of the last year, there was an inkling of a feeling that the trial would be harsh on everyone. There were the bereaved, the bitter, those uncertain, and others that were friends to the accused. It was a motley of emotions all in one place and at once, and she knows a thing or two about demigod temperaments. She had done some homework regarding this place called Athens, in which she’d be forced to mingle for gods only know how long.

For a moment Evelyn looked back at him, and even for the timing of a half-heartbeat, as the redhead averts her gaze back to her present company, Cherise locks eyes with her. It’s not long at all. Fleeting. Curiosity lending her the desire to look to her side and gaze at Keith - to wonder if something was up. Though, the way he had looked at Evelyn earlier, it was probable that maybe the two of them had a thing for one another. She isn’t jealous, but she isn’t sure what to make of it. Then again, she’s new. If anyone looked at her, they’d notice her shrug at seemingly nothing - just a passing thought.

Fingers drum along her knees as she had witnessed the trial; and she found herself gently clawing and grasping at her skirt at the memory of Alex’s mother. Her nose wriggles back and forth, but she’s relatively calm. There wasn’t much that could be expected from her - input or otherwise.

”Sorry, we forgot to bring Jenn’s head to appease you,” pulls her out of the spell of just staring at a now crystal clear pool of water. Recess was called, and folks seemed to venture off and do their own thing. Cherise just kind of… stayed where she was; stuck in her own la-la land of thoughts.

The trial was not of much interest to him, to be honest. There were too many emotions for any of it to make sense, and he didn’t see a good ending for it anytime soon. His eyes roll as certain people spoke - even Liv because she’s so damned long-winded and punch-able. No wonder Trinity fucked her up.

“Would you be able to hurt your mum with Ares rage?” Trinity inquired, looking at him for something. His gut told him that maybe she was looking for some words of comfort - that he would tell her “no” and that they could control themselves like that. Even with the people they loved. Liam was the honest type of guy, and he wasn’t going to color some unicorn fantasy world where everything was cotton candy or puffy. Or whatever girls liked.

“Yes,” he replied tersely, and after waiting for her expression - and perhaps even a word or two, he sighs and turns to face her, “We can hurt even those we love and care about. But I think that…as long as you are aware of that, you can figure out how to calm your father’s curse down before it gets to that point. But Trinity,” he pauses, looking from her to the trial floor where Alex had been observed, “Don’t you ever forget the feeling that all this rage gives you. Don’t forget that rage makes us blind. If you forget it or you think you’re above it, that’s when you’re going to do it. Trust me on that.” There - one brotherly duty done for the day; sage words of advice from a meathead. It would probably not come again anytime soon.

He turned away and leaned back into his chair, “Dirtbag,” Trinity scoffs, and that causes Liam to look back at Theo and Eve. Oh, the busty blonde - that would give him a perfect in. Especially upon seeing that Sloane was otherwise occupied with another guy.

Not that there was jealousy, of course. She’s pretty, but if he went over there and shoved him aside, she’d probably not like that very much. He had the feeling that he’d probably just make her shrivel in her seat, and not in a good way either. There was a good way to do that, he thought idly.

When Trinity departs, he looks over at Andy and gives her a thumb’s up before she turns around and leaves. After all, the woman stood up and told it like it was, and it did look like she had been a bit scared of it.

Liam, himself, pushes his lumbering form from his seat and makes his way to Eve and Theo. Of course he sat himself next to the blonde, body turned to her and elbow propped on the back of the chair. He makes a little show of flexing his biceps - getting his arms in that perfect position so that they’d wrinkle his shirt in that muscular way. Whatever way that was because women loved muscles. He honestly didn’t have much else going for him.

Liam was good looking, obviously athletic, and had a lot of hidden intelligence that was more intuitive than book smart. He was a likeable guy, but he has one itsy bitsy fault, and it spills out of his mouth unabashedly. “I couldn’t help but notice that you have nice tits.”

There - there was the pig that all women hated to wake up beside in the morning. It was really appalling, but his inability to appropriately compliment a woman probably has a lot to do with the fact that it meant that they wouldn’t get too attached. “You’re blonde, too, which is even better.”

When she’d turn to look at him, which she certainly will anytime now - even if it was to deliver a justified slap to the face, Liam would drink her figure in like a glutton eyeing the baking aisle of a grocery store. It’s a bad metaphor, but Liam was full of them.

“I am Liam, the-” he paused, trying to get out the word son, but he couldn’t do it. The thought made him sick to his stomach. “I am Trinity’s half-brother.” That was better. So much better. Trinity, for all of her faults, was better than having to align himself with his father by calling himself his son.

Son of Zeus || Hex: Green Outfit: XXX

Image"Hi, I am Ethan, Hestia's son. I have a question for Ajax." Ajax turns his head to look at him. "Didn't you mention something about a bracelet that belonged to Alex and you believed it to be cursed and the cause of her actions toward Jennova. Do you still have it? If this bracelet is cursed it could provide some answers and physical proof." Ajax turns his head again, this time in his father's direction who was looking straight at him, waiting for his son to answer the question.

Ajax nods. "I had Hecate look at it before the trial began. It was cursed, but it's not cursed anymore. We left it too late to find out who left the mark." he said. His eyes land on Hades. He had a feeling in the pit of his stomach that it was him, since part from his son, Hades was the one who had a deep dislike towards his father. At least, they were the only two he knew about without any doubts lingering in the back of his head. He could bet his life on it.

Liv gave a long speech, and even though she did have a point, it was clear that no one was patient enough to find out what would come next. His sister had just managed to grab herself a break, and already everyone grew restless. He didn't blame them, but a trial wasn't supposed to be fun. Ajax's gaze moves to his hands as he clasps them together, rubbing at the skin on the back of his hand as he stares at his feet with his mind absent as he waits for his sister to continue with the memories that Ajax didn't like seeing, but if it's all that can prove Alex's innocence... then so be it.

Image "I had Hecate look at it before the trial began. It was cursed, but it's not cursed anymore. We left it too late to find out who left the mark." If only that cursed object had still been intact. The trial would have ended so much sooner. "No matter. Everything will be brought to light soon enough."

As his son's eyes travel to where Hades and Mason sat, Zeus also looked in their direction. It was easy to point the finger without hard evidence, which is why Zeus did not act. So many enemies lurked the very corners of Tartarus, their souls forever wailing in the depths of despair, unable to escape their torment for the gates to the underworld remained guarded by Hade's loyal beast. Cerberus. Though it was not Hades who had placed them there, not all of them at least.

So many of them still want their revenge on the King of Mount Olympus, and so many still prefer Hades as the king instead.

Hades no doubt had plans conjuring inside of that head of his, but Zeus's only concerns, for now, were on his daughter.

With his weight baring down into his hands on the arms of the throne, he straightens himself up to stand. A couple of the Demigods had left already, and he wasn't about to stop the others if they no longer wished to sit during a drawn-out trial. But every second counted for Alex. "Thank you, Miss Pfeiffer, but we are aware of what needs to be done. We will not allow my daughter's trial to be decided on emotions alone, hence why the method I am using is in progress."

He knew that she meant well, so he hoped that he wasn't too harsh. Gods didn't have much to them when it came to emotions, they lacked in areas which human's did not. But this didn't mean they felt nothing... their emotions just weren't as intense, which is why it was so easy for Zeus to leave Susanna after choosing to return to his realm. Still, he knew what love was and how much he did love her. Still loves her.

he looks down at his daughter and the goddess who is stood next to her. "Are you ready to continue?"

Daughter of Zeus || Hex: #d63b71

Image Alex sat on the sidelines, gathering the strength she'd need for round two of reliving the memories she wanted to remain forgotten. "Are you ready to continue?" her father asks.

Alex looks down for a second before looking back up and giving him the answer they all wanted. "Yes." as the Goddess who had stepped forward to help moves her back to the pensieve, Alex was regretting every second of ever coming in the first place. But it needed to be done to clear her name once and for all. "I am so tired, and I just... I want it to be done with. I'm ready." she stepped back into the cool liquid and closed her eyes.

The Pensieve lunged into action once more, throwing Alex into a much deeper memory this time. The night of Jennova's death.

Alex remembered it well now. Jenn's face was stoic and emotionless while she took a drink of her water before leaning her right shoulder against the door frame. "What do you want?" she said, right before Alex unsheathed the sword that was attached to her back. "What the hell do you think you're doing with that?" Jennova took a step back. "Ah... well, if you think you can scare me then you're wro--" THUMP, a severed head hit the ground. She hadn't given Jennova a chance to finish.

It was Andy and Wes who had found her, and Even back then, with what was right there before them... Wes still never judged Alex. He gave her a chance to explain. "We should get you to--" Wes cut off. He hadn't noticed that Andy had run off to get Alex's brother, but there Ajax was. He had arrived and was yelling so loud that the entire camp could have heard him.

"What have you done! what the hell were you thinking?" He looked at the headless body.

"He's going to kill me... Mason's going to kill me."

"I won't let anyone kill you" Wes promised.

The memories went on a little further until there was indeed evidence of the bracelet getting to Alex by Jennova's hand. All to please her father.

Image
God of War || Hex: #b32626

Image Ares let out a frustrated sigh as he watched the memories unfold. They were only going to point towards the God they had always suspected from the very beginning. As much as Hera still disliked Zeus, she had too much to lose and had been promised her Queen status on condition of keeping her claws out of the children. So it couldn't have been her.

"We have all witnessed that Hades manipulated his daughter to carry out his work against Miss Valis, so, with permission from Zeus himself, the Gods of mount Olympus hereby sentence Hades, ruler of the underworld... banished. To Tartarus." of course he wasn't going to stay there forever, no doubt he'd find his way out one way or another. The Olympian guards took hold of Hades, and escorted him out of the Acropolis. Thank god the trial was over. Ares still believed that it was pointless for everyone to have come. They could have easily found everything out without them having to see the young girls memories, but maybe it's because Zeus wanted them to know and see for themselves that his daughter wasn't the monster that many so believed. There was no bringing back Jennova, but at least all of them could move on in time, knowing that it was all done by the hands of Hades. again.

"To my knowledge there was no prior confrontation and Jennova was fine. Stop searching for exit points and a plea of insanity from her. Sometimes people are just monsters."

Heath arched an eyebrow at the last thing Mason said. It was pretty obvious that Mason hated Zeus's children, just by his mannerisms. One didn't have to be an empath to figure that out. Heath wondered if Mason would target Alex if she was to be found innocent. Deciding to see if that were to be the case, he spoke directly to the son of Hades. Before he did though, he pull out his cell phone and looked up the official Webster's definition of monster online.

"Mason, that's your name correct? You call Alexandria a monster. Do you even know what the word means? I am looking at the definition of it and it has several meanings. One is an animal or plant of abnormal form or structure. Obviously that doesn't fit Alex because she looks like a regular human being. Another meaning is one who deviates from normal or acceptable behavior or character. If Alex did kill Jennova intentionally then I can see that being the case, but I would argue that all of us are capable of doing non-normal things. Monster could also mean a person of unnatural or extreme ugliness, deformity, wickedness, or cruelty. There are other definitions but they have nothing to do with Alex whatsoever. So here's my question to you Mason, do you claim Alex as a monster as a fact, or is it an opinion? Because if you're trying to say Alex is a monster as fact, then you don't have a lot of good reasons for that."

With that, Heath stopped talking as the trial went on. Athena didn't show it, for she tended to be stoic as a rule, but she was proud of her son just now for keeping a clear head. She knew Mason wanted a guilty verdict because he wanted Alex to pay for killing his sister, but the situation wasn't as clean and dry as he thought. Her gaze traveled to Hades. The god to her knowledge had been a terrible parent and she wanted to see if her insights were correct about him being responsible for his daughter's death.

Ethan wanted to laugh at what Heath said. In his opinion, he thought Heath was using logic to basically put Mason in his place. The man was emotionally charged and needed to be aware of his actions more. But then again, Ethan had never lost anyone close before, even though he almost lost his own father. That had been terrifying.

Soon Ajax answered his question about the bracelet. Well that just stunk! However Zeus was the next to speak and the trial continued with Alex returning to the pensive and the truth was finally revealed. Ethan was disgusted by Hades's actions. He wonder though if the god knew that his actions would lead to the death of one of his children. He just hoped Jennova found peace. Heath was just satisfied they got to the truth of the matter.

Throughout the rest of the trial, Iliana remained observant and admired Alex for going through with the trial. There was another who she felt bad for though; Mason. He lost a sister and his father was the reason for it. She knew what it was like to lose someone close. She could feel his anger, even though she didn't know where it was directed act. But underneath, she could also feel his grief. He did truly care for his sister. When the trial was over, she quickly headed towards Ethan and Heath. She wrote something quickly.

~I am going to talk to Mason really quick. Don't worry, mother will be with me. Can you two check on Andromida and let her know what happened?~

"Heath, can you do that? I was going to spend some time with my mother really quick since I haven't had much time yet."

"Sure thing. Be careful Lia." Heath said before the two guys left.

With that, Iliana and Demeter approach Mason. Iliana wrote down something down before waiting to get Mason's attention and showed him what she wrote on her notepad.

~Um, hello, my name is Iliana and I am Demeter's daughter. I can't speak at the moment so this is how I communicate with people. Anyway, I just wanted to say I am sorry for your loss. I saw my . . own father get killed by a human . . when I was 5 and I still have nightmares. Momma told me to remember the good times though and that has helped. So maybe you can try to remember the good times. So I guess what I am trying to say is I know how feels to loss someone dear. I remember being very angry for a long time too and I withdrew from the world. I hope you have someone to lean on. That's really what I wanted to say.~

Demeter watch the two. She remembered the day Iliana's father was killed and it was one of the worst days in her existence. She did love Iliana's father and had Apollo create a marble bust of him that was still in her private chambers to this day.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Heath went outside and soon found Andromida. He carefully approached her, making sure he came into her field of vision before addressing her.
"Good day, my name is Heath and I am Athena's son. I am also Iliana's adoptive brother. She wanted me to let you know that the trial is over. It turns out that Hades was the cause of Alex's actions for he cursed a bracelet of hers that caused her to become unhinged. I guess Jennova was a friend of yours and I am sorry for your loss. Hades has been banished to the underworld. Anyway, Iliana ultimately wanted to make sure you were going to be okay too. Would you like to be alone for now?
“It is too easy to take someone’s will for your own,” Pete said as he turned to Sloane. “Hard to prove though.”
Sloane looked him over slightly, while her fingers twiddled in her lap. He wasn't wrong. It was so easy to persuade people, no matter how much she disliked it. She tried to fight the urge to glance over at Liam, but eventually her gaze found her way to the brute of a man. And it seemed for the brief moment she looked to him, Liam's gaze met her own. She inhaled sharply and nodded her head in agreement to her present company's comment. "It's hard to prove magic. It doesn't leave a finger print."
Then, when Pete was presented with her question he flashed her a half of a smile. “Oh, I don’t give those away, even for a penny.” Sloane remained sitting upright and poised as he leaned forward to deal with some matter with his shoe. “She’s guilty alright. Just depends if they want her dead or not.” Her gaze followed the motioning of his hand toward the present Gods.
Honestly, Sloane didn't much care for the verdict. She ran a hand back through her dark hair as she studied the surrounding Gods and demigods, half wanting it to go one way and half another. Pete's tone showed he was as detached from the proceedings as she felt, although she tried not to be as open about it. Olympus court was nothing like the courts of mortals. There... Alex would be guilty. No contest.
“Though, I’m not the smartest lad.” Sloane smirked as he acknowledged their earlier comment. But then it quickly faded as she watched his attention shift from her to something past her. She slowly turned her head finding the red head that caught his attention. The girl sat with her brother and stared unabashedly toward her. “Despite your best efforts, you’ve drawn attention.” And then Sylas's own gaze found his way back toward her.
Sloane sighed, leaning back in her seat, sparing a side eyed glance toward Pete. "That's unfortunate. I thought I could go through life invisible."
The trial quickly resumed and it seemed as though how easily everything seemed to be turned against the Daughter of Zeus, one memory surfaced from the girl turned the tables entirely. Then as swiftly as the proceedings started up, they ended with the word of Ares gave the final sentence to Hades, banishing him to Tartarus. Nothing was said of Alex, but no doubt she was now innocent. If she weren't in the company of Gods and demigods alike she might have even scoffed at how easily the verdict flipped sides.
"Well... That was convenient," was all Sloane managed to mutter about the conclusion of the trial, speaking only quiet enough for Pete to hear. With a sigh, she pushed off of the seat, moving to her feet. She had no desire to linger around or mingle. "I think I've had enough of Olympus for quite some time," she concluded with a polite nod toward Pete.
Sloane was unsure if Pete would follow her or not. He was free to do as he wished, but she desired to have her feet firmly upon the mortal ground. Being one of the first to leave the Acropolis, she didn't have to snake her way around many others, only slipping past the daughter of Hecate who lingered by the exit. She found the Pegasus where they were left and quickly mounted it. Sloane wanted nothing more to take off and descend back down to earth, but remembering the ratio of campers to creatures, she sighed and decided to wait until someone wished to join her.
Sylas's brow quirked as Evelyn took hold of his collar, begging him to keep his attention on her. “If I had to pick one of the three, I'd say the first,” she said as she released the fabric of his shirt. “You do strike me as someone that doesn't like to share and is very self-orientated. Worrying about another's actions seems beneath you, especially with nothing to tie you and Eve together. As for the last option, as flattering as the thought is, I don't believe we've had enough time together for you to grow such attachment. Yet,” she concluded.
Evelyn definitely was much smarter than she let looked. It was rare for someone to surprise Sylas like she did. Of course, even he himself could not clearly agree or disagree with some of her assumptions, but that didn't mean he didn't enjoy watching her connect the dots to what she assumed was him. He couldn't help but smile as her stifled laugh in regards to his other comment. “I don't think I'd appreciate being anyone's puppet. No matter their fun value. I can imagine it though.”
Sylas hummed at the comment, like he took that as a challenge. But said nothing. He let his gaze drift back to some of the bullshit that could barely be considered a proper trial. More of he said she said, way too many character witnesses and people who have no stake in the matter feeling the need to state their peace when it was uncalled for. Then there was a recess. Surprising. It seemed as though the trial had barely been underway yet they were breaking. At this rate there wouldn't be a verdict for another decade.
“Eve wants gossip to collect information and to pull on a few heartstrings. She wants to be the embodiment of envy and jealousy to women, and desire to men. I'd be a great informant for her, but considering I'm not a male, she'd grow bored and release her spell. Now as your puppet, the bidding you'd have me do could vary.” He chuckled as he leaned back in his seat. “If you're lucky all you might have to do is ask rather than be domineering.”
"I'm not much of the... asking type. But I'll keep that in mind." Sylas turned his attention toward Evelyn, preparing to continue the conversation with more innuendos and presumptuous talking but found her looking toward the back of the arena.
He didn't really bother himself with what might have caught her attention, that was until she spoke. “Do you happen to know who that devilishly handsome man is by your sister?”
Sylas had to fight the urge to snap his head around in his sister's direction. But he knew an action like that wouldn't go unnoticed by Evelyn. He kept his expression unchanging as he slowly turned around and set her eyes on Sloane. He didn't know who expected to be sitting beside her, but definitely not the man he encountered earlier that day. What in the world were Eve and her brother playing at? His brows furrowed as he held Sloane's gaze for the brief moment she looked in their direction.
He smirked as he face forward. Sure, Sylas could have approached his sister... caused a scene. But her knowing that he saw it was torture enough for her, at least for the time being. "That would be the brother to our dear Eve." Sylas then ran his hand back through his hair trying to project the facade of someone unfazed. Sloane knew very well that her magic wouldn't work on the boy, yet she let him sit with her. So, either he was distracting her or she was dumb. And he knew his sister wasn't dumb. But he'd get the truth from her later. "No doubt he must be up to something nefarious, like his sister."
Then, before he knew it, the trial concluded. It was almost out of left field how suddenly Alex's memories brought forth sufficient enough evidence to convict the one God all the others hated. Interesting how they are so quick to incriminate him, yet drag on for ages to do the same for the girl. Prejudice bullshit. If it were a child of any of the other unfavored Gods like Hecate, Hades, Eris... or even Hera, they would have been damned from the moment they stepped upon the soil of Olympus. But no, Alex was a daughter of Zeus. Un-fucking-touchable. Sylas couldn't quite hide his disgust at the way things unfolded. Not nearly as entertaining as he'd had hoped.
With a sigh, he pushed off his knees and stood. "Well I do think that our conversation was the highlight of this trip. Because this trial was rather disappointing." Sylas looked over to Mason. He wouldn't be half surprised if he saw him leap over the side of the arena and attack Alex right there. Would he help the son of Hades? Who knew. But the trial was bullshit. He could only imagine how fuming Mason would be as the little mouse who couldn't speak tried to communicate with him... Probably trying to be sympathetic. Why was it whenever someone tried to give their sympathies they always had to share a story about themselves, like that made it any better? It never did.
Sylas scanned the group of demigods. Half relieved, half pissed... A melting pot of emotions, ready to bubble over at any moment. This was a recipe for chaos, even without the added help of himself or the Hera kids. It was only a matter of time before all hell broke loose at camp and they were all going for each others' throats. "I give it a week before half of the demigods here are going at one another."
"Hey," Mason's voice broke the silence. Andy quickly spun around on her heels, her right fist balled. She wanted to tell him to leave her alone, just go away but the words never found their way to her lips. Instead she crossed her arms as he held up his hands as a way to show her he wasn't there to fight. Not that time, anyway. "I come in peace. I just wanted to check you were okay."
"I'm not." Her reply was brief. She didn't try to mask her frustration and anger, letting it show in the way she stood, her facial expression and even the whole two words she spoke. Any other day, Andy would have probably rambled on about everything that had her pissed off. She wouldn't have been thankful at his presence. But not then.
"I also wanted to say I am grateful for your testimony and offering to have your memories looked into. I know it's not over yet but I wanted to say thanks, it means a lot. I'm scared shitless to see what you saw." He even laughed once. Was this his idea of fixing everything that had been broken between them? "But if it's evidence..."
Andy didn't move. She just stood there, staring at him, taking in his words. Part of her wanted to say she didn't do it for him. But they'd both know that was a lie. So, she settled for silence until he nodded toward her and returned to the Acropolis. She contemplated leaving. No Gods came to her, requesting her candor or memories. But she didn't want to be told what happened from someone else. Although the results would be pretty black and white, she didn't need someone twisting how that happened to persuade her to think one way or another.
She didn't re-enter the Acropolis, instead standing at the entrance behind everyone else and watched. Andy winced and looked away as the memories showed Jennova's head removed from her body. After a brief moment, she looked back up seeing a mirage of herself arriving at the scene along with Wes. And then there was a second memory... Jennova handing over the bracelet to Alex. Then that was it. Apparently to the Gods that was damning enough for Hades and Alex's saving grace. Andy had to fight the temptation to let out a disappointed laugh. Why did she expect a fair trial? She had no loyalty to Hades, she had more reason to hate him than most. Yet, this wasn't fair. Condemning a God from a single memory from one girl who is desperate to save her own skin. She rolled her eyes and shook her head and turned from the arena. Mason wasn't going to accept that. And this time, she wasn't going to stop him.
Andy was about to head back to the pegasi and go home, but a new blonde camper all but bee lined for her outside of the arena. She tried her best to seem as welcoming as possible because there was no chance of her dodging the conversation at this point. "Good day, my name is Heath and I am Athena's son. I am also Iliana's adoptive brother. She wanted me to let you know that the trial is over. It turns out that Hades was the cause of Alex's actions for he cursed a bracelet of hers that caused her to become unhinged."
"I saw," she managed to reply as politely as possible.
"I guess Jennova was a friend of yours and I am sorry for your loss. Hades has been banished to the underworld. Anyway, Iliana ultimately wanted to make sure you were going to be okay too. Would you like to be alone for now?"
Andy shook her head. "She wasn't my friend. I don't even know if we ever spoke to one another. I just..." Then she caught herself before she bared everything to Heath. She didn't want to unpack all of that, because the second the flood gates opened they couldn't be closed back up. So, instead she shook her head and brushed it off. "Never mind. Thanks." She gave her best smile. "I just want to go home." Before she got asked anymore questions or stopped by anyone else, Andy turned and headed for their rides out.
Just as she reached the Pegasi, a voice called to her. "Andromeda, I thought you might have come to see me?"
Andy stopped before the nearest Pegasus, not turning around as she addressed her mother. "Why?"
"Because... I'm your mother," Hecate replied.
"And what about Daniel?" Andy snapped, turning to face the Goddess.
Hecate sighed, extending her hand toward her. "Please, Andromeda... Just let me explain."
"No," Andy almost growled as she shoved her mother's hand away. "I don't know what you did to him. But that thing in there," She pointed toward the arena as she spoke. "Is not my brother."
Hecate was quiet as she tried to find the right words. She parted her lips, but Andy spoke up before she could. "Fix him... Or forget that I'm your daughter."
Wes watched as Alex's memories were displayed for them all to watch. A two-armed version of him even arrived, bringing back his own memories of his arrival at the scene. So many other things transpired that year that he nearly forgot he showed up when Andy did. The words his spoke echoed throughout the arena. It was weird having these images of himself displayed for everyone. It wasn't like a sex tape was plastered everywhere but it somehow still managed to feel like an invasion. No one ever liked watching themselves in videos or hearing their own voices... This was no different.
"So, with permission from Zeus himself, the Gods of mount Olympus hereby sentence Hades, ruler of the underworld... banished. To Tartarus."
His heart nearly skipped a beat with relief as the verdict was made. Hades was guilty, not Alex. Finally, Hades was being punished like he had deserved so many times in the past. Part of him wishes that the sentence was worse for Andy's sake along with Alex's but now wasn't the time to argue for a worser penalty. After all, could Gods even be killed? Well if they could, he deserved it.
Wes gave Duke a pat on the back, while flashing him a smile. Not that the two were the closest of friends. But he knew that he had to be feeling similarly how Wes was... relief. Then instinctually, he glanced over his shoulder to find Trinity in the crowd. And she wasn't there. Not that she would have been happy to find him looking a her. He sighed and moved to his feet, making his way outside the arena but he didn't see her. He wondered his way over to the Pegasi and found Andy arguing with someone, only catching the tail end of the conversation.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt," he apologized.
"Don't. I was just leaving." Andy said before turning her back toward the Goddess.
"I... uh... Wesley Preston," he offered his right hand to the Goddess, not really know how to act as he accidentally stepped into that conversation.
But before she could respond, Andy called to him. "Can you help me, please?" He gave Hecate an apologetic smile before he helped Andy onto the back of the Pegasus. "Are you going down?" she asked.
"Um, sure?" Andy was probably his safest bet for riding companion at this point and by the looks of her she was ready to get out of there. With or without him. Part of him wanted to stay behind and wait to speak to Alex, but no doubt her father, her brother... Duke and maybe even the Gods wanted to speak with her. So, he mounted the pegasus and they quickly descended back down to the camp.
Once there, Andy didn't say anything else aside from a passing thank you after he helped her down. She quickly took off in her own direction toward her cabin, leaving him standing there like a big dumb idiot. What was new? Wes scratched his head as he trudged off toward his cabin, testing the reflexes of his new arm as he did, clenching the fingers, twisting and bending it in every direction to see if it did what he wanted. He had no idea a fake arm could do that.
Wes sighed, dropping his arm to his side as he made his way up the steps remembering the state he left his place in. Well, at least he couldn't lie about being busy the rest of the day because it would take that long for him to clean it all up. Then he could just, be alone. But when he opened the door he found everything picked up and back where it belonged... And a blonde standing in the middle of the room with her back to him. His hand slowly fell to his side. "Trinity?" he said, barely above a whisper.
Heath lectured on about the definition of monster according to google that he must have memorised. Did he really want an answer? No. Did he deserve one explaining how he came off as another blind worshipper of the Valises who would lick their boots if they asked, and it was a fact to Mason that she was a monster, yes. But the trial concluding held more importance to him so he let it be.
Ajax piped up again going on that there was some cursed item involved then Alex's second vision began. He inhaled sharply then closed his eyes as he heard the awful thump of his sister's head falling from her body. For some time, he kept his gaze averted to the ground until another God spoke. "We have all witnessed that Hades manipulated his daughter to carry out his work against Miss Valis, so, with permission from Zeus himself, the Gods of mount Olympus hereby sentence Hades, ruler of the underworld... banished. To Tartarus."
Mason looked to Hades accusingly, and rather than vanish in black smoke, Hades let himself be grabbed and taken away. Mason let it happen too, no retaliation or final goodbyes from either of them. Mason lowered his forehead on his fist. So Alex was innocent and Hades guilty according to her memories. Now he was as good as fatherless. Now there was no family to appease. Just more murderous thoughts. But he didn't want to brood about it in Olympus. As he got to his feet, somebody approached with a Goddess in tow and turned a notepad around to face him. What the hell?
~Um, hello, my name is Iliana and I am Demeter's daughter. I can't speak at the moment so this is how I communicate with people. Anyway, I just wanted to say I am sorry for your loss. I saw my . . own father get killed by a human . . when I was 5 and I still have nightmares. Momma told me to remember the good times though and that has helped. So maybe you can try to remember the good times. So I guess what I am trying to say is I know how feels to loss someone dear. I remember being very angry for a long time too and I withdrew from the world. I hope you have someone to lean on. That's really what I wanted to say.~
Was she a mute or what? Nonetheless, Mason sighed, preparing himself to be as civil as he could be. "Me too." At the moment it really was him against the world. "Do you know what happened to your father's killer? Did they walk away freely too?" Because they didn't so much as slap Alex on the wrist for her crime. Mason's eyes moved pass Iliana to Demeter. Gods were normally vengeful beings but he didn't think Demeter or Iliana had it in them to make the human pay. Unlike him.
"No disrespect, but if you hold me up, we're gonna have to ride together and you probably don't really want that. I'll see you back at camp." He shifted past her, patting the small thing's head gently and left the Acropolis. Then another dread struck him. The Underworld. Without somebody to keep it in check, many souls would cling to the hope of life, to try climb out of the place when they didn't belong anymore. "Fucking Gods!" He growled. It wasn't like the Underworld was a nice place full of fun and delight. That was already Hades' punishment.
He didn't have any gods or peers to catch up with. There was no reason for him to stick around. Looked like it was back to being a Hermit for a while. Or back and forth trips in the Underworld. A girl with dark hair and pale complexion was already saddled up and ready to go and as he got closer he knew the face. She was quiet and wouldn't bother him with idle chatter or as he recently discovered, writing. Perfect. "Hope you're not reserving a seat," he said and climbed on behind the girl. "Because you're my best bet."
Mason wasn't much for hugging strangers usually but he wanted to go and that took priority at the moment. He held her slim waist gently. "Sorry," he said in case she was uncomfortable. She'd have to deal with it though because he wasn't falling to his death today. He might have been more sympathetic and aware on other days, but today as she probably witnessed, wasn't his day.
Once at camp again, Mason dismounted and offered her a hand down. "Thanks. For tolerating me." Not that he had been much in the way of conversation, but a brooding presence holding onto her. Mason went to walk away but for some damn forsaken reason he couldn't just leave her casually. "Do you want to get food or something? Can I walk you to your cabin?" Even in his state, he couldn't just leave her without something to offer after flying with her. Besides a day or two earlier he was interested in getting to know what she was about.
Image Duke remained a silent and composed observer throughout the remainder of the trial. There were a few demigods tried to strip emotion from the equation, but it was an emotional case, to expect anything else was unlikely. He hurt for Alex seeing her stab her mother then decapitate Jennova. Neither action was truly hers and it was important people saw that, so though it hurt to live through again, it was vital peers saw the truth: that there was an extraneous variable in play, that no murder would be on the table if it weren't for the curse to begin with.
He was relieved when Ares said the final verdict. Apparently Wes shared the relief and enthusiasm giving him a pat on the back. Duke smiled in return. It was over. It was finally over. Part of him wanted to leap down the wall and hug Alex but brothers first. If Duke and Wes were relieved, imagine Ajax's flood of emotions.
So instead, he headed to another demigod. His counterpart in a way, if they were to address their power of elements. "You raised some good points in trial. You should probably just work on execution, might get more respect that way." Liv possessed a real don't give a shit attitude, like an angsty teen so maybe his words meant nothing to her. And judging by the blood on her dress, she had already picked the wrong person to give that attitude to. Maybe she didn't give much of a crap about being respected but what was the point of talking if no one was going to listen? In the end, it all came down to execution.
"Are you ready to head out or what?" He gestured out of the Acropolis, arm out for the taking or decline. Either option was one he could live with. Duke was ready to return to his warehouse/cabin. It had felt like an extensively long day.
Image He just couldn't find a comfortable way to sit, tossing and turning, folding one leg over the other, upright, slouched. Gods, to settle was impossible. When Alex had recovered, she was right back into the pensieive this time to reveal the night of Jennova's death. Keith frowned, upset to find Alex had murdered another in a fit of rage but somehow, as the memories were explored, they found Jennova and Hades had collaborated on a curse on her bracelet.
To Keith it still brought about a debate whether it was right or wrong. Sure, there were other options like a duel or holding Jennova on trial but if he had to fit his feet in Alex's shoes he wouldn't have had the most rational mind either. Nonetheless, the Gods dismissed it finding the villain behind it all and Keith let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
He turned his attention to the pretty brunette and shifted over to her. "So what did we think of that episode?" Despite the bad timing, Keith had to make light of a hefty situation otherwise he'd just crumble. Although it was arguably hyper insensitive. But Cherise didn't seem super PC. "There's so much drama and emotion present, it's actually a pretty accurate capturing of the atmosphere in camp. Are you and your sunshine and blossom up to the task?"
He sat up and looked all around the Acropolis, meerkat like. "Your friend didn't stay long." Self-consciously he thought he might have been the problem again, and almost asked if it was due to him but stopped himself. Keith had recently moved past the whole nervous rambling phase with Cherise and he didn't want to backtrack. He had learned by now the girl didn't bite.
"Did you um...maybe want to catch a ride together on the way back to Camp or...wait around here." Since he had taken so much of the girl's time he didn't see her talk to any God. He didn't even know which one was her parental figure. He'd be happy to wait around because there wasn't much back at camp for him so he was in no rush to return to his loner status.
In fact, a fraction of him saw an opportunity in the scenario of people leaving the Acropolis, either returning to camp or bonding with their parents. Maybe he could have a look at the magic pool himself. The more he toyed with the idea, the more it sung to him like a siren song. Keith had to know what had hurt him and he was attached to the idea that that water held a solution. It had accessed Alex's repressed memories.
Privacy or no privacy Keith edged towards the front row.
Image"That won't help."
Keith almost tipped over the edge of the Acropolis hearing his mother's voice. "Huh? I wasn't -"
"You've changed so much. It's no wonder Andromeda is upset with me," she said looking Keith up and down. "My poor boy, I do hope you can forgive me." She stepped by his side. "I cannot undo what's been done and consulting the Pensieve will merge memories and warp your mind. But if you bury deep...if you surround yourself with support and those who were there last year, I believe you'll get your answers." Hecate hugged him briefly and left with a smile.
What she really left him with was more turmoil. But at least she gave him hints on how to fill in the blanks. Keith still felt her eyes on him, however, was more preoccupied on who to approach for answers and who he could class as support. When he had enough wondering, he headed to the horses waiting for a partner to appear.
"So what did we think of that episode?" Keith so suddenly inquired, and by this time she was clutching the gentle fabrics of her dress as though she might implode from something unknown to others stewing in her head. She wondered quietly to herself while, Alex faced the waters - and then long after the pause and up until the very moment, Keith speaks to her - if she might have done the same to her step-father. She didn’t answer him because truthfully, she had no thoughts that fell outside of her what-if scenario. Her stepfather is dead, thankfully, and she didn’t have to do it. But still, how much more would it have taken?
"There's so much drama and emotion present, it's a pretty accurate capturing of the atmosphere in the camp. Are you and your sunshine and blossom up to the task?" She smiles at him, patting him on his thigh in a platonic manner. It never occurred to ask for permission to touch him, and she just so happens to be quite physical to one's dismay, or even to their delight. “My father told me that my timing of arrival was quite specific. So, I’d like to think that maybe my sunshine and blossom is exactly what someone here needs.” The smile she gives off is not a knowing one, nor does it imply that it is, in fact, him that she hopes to reach. It’s just something to match the glimmer of hope in her eyes that maybe, just maybe, she could find a way to live her life again. She wasn’t as happy as her brilliant aura implied. She’s miserable. She misses things - her mother, for one. Let’s not pretend that she still isn’t sickly attached to her ex-boyfriend despite the years in the past it had been since she last was with him. Her father ruined her life quite successfully, and ever since, she’s felt… empty. Unfulfilled. Like she never had a choice in what parts of her life came and went. Part of her needed to get that back somehow - her freedom of having control over her life. But for now, she thought that other people’s happiness would somehow make everything fall right into place. That, and well, she’s just a natural charmer — just pure goodness with a little darkness in her past.
"Your friend didn’t stay long." She shrugs gently at that, “I know it’s going to sound silly to you,” she begins, facing him and brushing some hair behind her right ear, “I just needed her to know who I was and that I was here. That’s all. I’m sure she has better things to do than hang around with me. Not everyone is easy to warm up to, no matter how nice you are.”
Just as those last words leave her lips, he’s asking if he’d ride with her. She would have answered if it were not for something about him going adrift. It would seem that right at that same moment he was pulling away from her to the source of his newfound attention, her father walks up behind her.
“Be careful, Cherise, you might burn a hole through the back of his skull if you stare at him any harder,” Apollo seems to laugh at her. She turns bright red for a second, pivoting to face him with a huffing breath of small but very unconvincing defiance of his implication. “I just met him. Goodness!”
Image“I have something for you,” he indicated with a lighthearted chuckle. In his right hand is a compound crossbow - the one she thought that had broken long ago. He lifts it and waits for her to take it, and of course, she does. “Cherise,” the normally cheerful tones drop to notes more serious, and he places a hand on her shoulder and looks her dead in the eyes. “You remember why I brought you here?” Cherise nods, her gaze moving off toward Iliana’s direction, and then flickers briefly to Keith the moment his mother embraces him, “It might come sooner than hoped. Choosing the right side will be confusing, but I believe that you will always do the right thing. It’s also okay to not choose any side. But you’re a protector, and that is why you are here. Remember what it felt like to be manipulated, weak, hurt - don’t let that become someone else.” His speech was terribly cliche, like off of some bad movie about the underdog that went through a tragedy and had great aspirations to be a superhero. Except, Cherise was terrified of the thought of Apollo’s suggestions.
She slung her crossbow over a shoulder and located Keith, maybe even right at that moment when he was thinking about who he could rely on for support. She was a new face, sure - but an honest soul. Maybe he wasn’t sure of it now, but who knows?
She waved and smiled at him. She catches herself in a light jog toward him and speaks now that they are in chatting distance, “I call front this time, and maybe a nice upbeat tune. Unless you're waiting on someone, then, well - I can just hop on a flying horse with someone else. I don't want to seem like I am just clinging to the first cute face I see.”
Sylas looked to the pair, then forward again. That would be the brother to our dear Eve.” Another spawn of Hera then. Interesting. He looked more promising than Eve but she wasn't going to make the mistake of underestimating either child. “No doubt he must be up to something nefarious, like his sister.”
Sylas didn't aim for humor but he certainly achieved it with irony. She thought nothing of the others' speeches until Ajax was addressed regarding the bracelet. “I had Hecate look at it before the trial began. It was cursed, but it's not cursed anymore. We left it too late to find out who left the mark.” She sighed gently. Evelyn did tell him curses were tricky to pinpoint.
Alex had stepped into the pool again to reveal further memories. Alex had her sword then the head dropped to the ground. Evelyn frowned at the object being passed between God and Demigod, the bracelet Alex had on during the murder of her mother but did she wear it when cutting off the Daughter of Hades's head. This trial left much to be desired, but her investigation schedule was rather full. No matter, the Gods reached their verdict claiming Hades guilty and he was taken away. If they were content then so be it.
The company beside her sighed and stood to his feet. “Well I do think that our conversation was the highlight of this trip. Because this trial was rather disappointing.”
“Happy to be of service,” she responded.
“I give it a week before half of the demigods here are going at one another,” he said next.
Evelyn hummed, regardless if he was addressing her or not. “Probably less.” A rift was already nearly visible between demigods. She stood up and caught Nemesis's eyes on her casting her to inferiority. No doubt mother was less than pleased in the company she kept and could catch their game from miles off. So that's how it felt to be gazed upon by judgemental eyes. No matter the nonchalant air Evelyn adopted, it stirred her nerves.
Out of spite, in an act to test Nemesis herself, Evelyn considered embracing Sylas. But that would be foolish even if Evelyn found some secret for context. Sylas was clever and she had to gamble the right way at the right time with such a man. He'd get far too much joy if he discovered he was some tool used to upset a Goddess, or maybe he'd consider it an insult. Clumsy to provoke a goddess and use him in that way.
Evelyn ascended the steps to leave the Acropolis behind her. There was something that paid off in her deep thoughts: Maybe she ought to act more impulsively to throw Sylas off. To him she was, well, she didn't know, but not dumb. Underestimating somebody was a gift in disguise and she may have needed to change his mind a little.
“Will we be riding together or do you have other plans?”
Evelyn walked to a steed and pat its snout. When the horse pushed back into her palm, she smiled. She didn't get much time to interact with animals or the akin, they were all lovely and raw creatures, always true to their nature. They could be powerful too but let themselves be ruled by other beings. It exhibited the power of control and will: brainpower. Still, she couldn't devalue a Pegasus or other creatures.
Either way, she was stuck with the creature waiting for somebody to help her on the Pegasus. She kept stroking it until a boost arrived, watching her hand's path down its neck.
She was still pondering if things were straight enough, tongue pressed to her cheek when she heard her name. “Trinity?”
Shit. She turned around hesitantly not sure what kind of reaction she would face from Wes for being in his cabin uninvited. “Hey,” she said. “I thought – I…um...” English! Come on, Trinity it’s your first language. What happened to the perfect justification she had thought of earlier? “I didn’t follow you.” Normally she would have smiled if she could afford to. Those were his lasts words to her after all, but it didn't make it okay to be in his cabin and she knew that.
“I just...” she looked around his cabin. “I'll leave. Sorry.” She lowered her head and went to brisk by Wes. She pulled herself short and snatched her iPod up then stopped in front of him. Trinity wanted to get out of there, particularly as she felt guilty for not obtaining his permission and from so many angles, it looked bad, but if she retreated, she'd regret it later. Trinity clenched her fists and took a deep breath in to compose herself, still not making eye contact with him. “I shouldn't have talked to you how I did. I don't own you or anything and your decisions are yours but it upset me that you would let some absolute crappy bimbo in your cabin to do god knows what.” AKA ruin everything they had progressed on. If he was going to fool around with someone, it could at least be someone better. “Then you have those stupid Aphrodite charms that wrap everyone around your finger and the Wes defence squad gets involved.” She put up a hand to stop him from arguing. “I know that's not your fault but it still bugs me.” She wasn't looking to fight or argue, just explain her mood.
She sighed out. Now that was out of the way...she still didn't feel much better. “I'm glad you got an arm back and that Alex made it in one piece.” Otherwise he probably would have entered bawling. Trinity brushed by Wes since the guy had to make everything more difficult and obstruct his own doorway.
She'd probably hang at her cabin for a bit then check on Theo. Unless he managed to obtain a date with the same blonde. Trinity was mentally done with the day, her priority was herself and sleep.
Theo leaned back, giving Eve an opportunity to talk. He was weary of what she might say, and he certainly did not trust her. Still, he felt oddly interested.
“Right.” Theo was trying to read her. She was on the verge of tears, and he couldn't tell if it was genuine or an act. He had heard how Eve interacted with Trinity on the walk to the hall, and this was an entirely different vibe from her. “Well, see Trinity overheard me telling my brother than Wes asked me out.” Theo feigned interest in this part of the story. For one, he didn't want her to know that he had eavesdropped on this part of the story. Also, he was not very interested in hearing about Trinity's jealousy over Wes. He had spent long enough being jealous of Wes' relationship with Trinity. Hearing that Trinity felt that over Wes and some random girl was not particularly fun. The girl continued nervously.
“But well, he- he didn’t.” Theo raised his eyebrows at this. It was news to him. Theo really thought Wes had done the stupid thing and hoped that he had. Theo had always felt insecure in light of Wes and Trinity's relationship, thinking he might never be able to reach that level with her. “It feels so dumb now. I didn’t mean for all this to happen... You believe me right?”
Theo was unsure what to think, but a rush of desire to trust Eve came over him as she asked the question, "I mean... it doesn't make sense for you to be lying about this to me now. I just don't understand why you felt the need to do something like that."
“See, Mason was the one who asked me out. Well- to his cabin tonight. That’s hardly the same thing is it?” Theo shook his head. Mason? That came out of nowhere. It wasn't really the same thing, but he let her go on anyway. “I didn’t even say yes! I’m- I’m not like that.”
"Okay... but that still doesn't answer my question. Why? Popping up at camp and causing drama is not the way to make friends, and Trinity is definitely not the one to mess with." Theo was trying to be assertive and to be mindful of Trinity, but it was almost like his thoughts were not his own. He was not the type to deal with dramatic people, but he couldn't seem to stop being drawn into the conversation.
“I just didn’t want my brother to worry about me, you know, getting involved with a son of Hades. So I just… used Wes’ name, it was a stupid little lie. I didn’t know she’d hear it.” Theo nodded. That made things make a little bit more sense. The girl was crying, and that didn't help anything for Theo. He didn't deal with his own emotions well, much less the emotions of others. “You’ll tell Trinity for me? I think she might rip me limb from limb if I try?”
Theo scratched the back of his head. He didn't know what to say. He definitely did not want Trinity mad at him over this, and while he didn't fully trust the motives of the new girl, he did believe her story. Theo felt for Eve. "I'll do what I can." He smiled down at her before returning his attention to the trial.
Things were unfolding in an interesting manner. For such a huge event, Theo realized that he had very little information on what had actually occurred. Alex's memories were vivid to the point that it was hard to watch. Theo felt the raw emotion of the moment, but the truth came to light. Hades had certainly manipulated Alex, and it appeared upon the verdict that he would receive his punishment for it. Theo wasn't naive though. It was a fair assumption that they would all see Hades again. He glanced towards Mason. Theo couldn't imagine what he would do in Mason's position. Mason usually looked strong and unbothered, but in this moment he just looked defeated. Theo also noticed that he couldn't find Trinity, and, for him, this was his signal that he needed to get back to camp.
Turning to Eve, he spoke kindly, "Remember, I'll do what I can. Just try to keep yourself out of trouble." With that, he made his way back out towards the flying horses, looking around for someone to hitch a ride with.
Iliana was uncertain on how Mason would respond to her. She wasn't surprised though about the emotions behind his question about the killer of her own father, but the question itself did catch her off guard. She barely registered the pat on the head too as Mason left. Her own thoughts were on his question. What did happen to her father's killer? Try as she might, she could recall. Even the night of her father's death was hazy and between seeing his murder to the time her mother found her, it was nothing. And her mother never told her what happened to him. She was actually too scared to ask.
Demeter saw the look Mason gave her after asking Iliana a question on what happened to her father's killer. She knew and it still haunted her.
~Flashback~
The rain pour down hard as Demeter appeared in front of the house that belonged to her daughter and love. There was silence and that was terrifying. She rushed in to find a horrifying site. Brambles of roots had burst through windows and were currently wrapped around a stranger and he wasn't moving. She check his pulse and found him dead. He had been constricted to death.
"Carter! Iliana!" Demeter cried out.
"Mommy?" a small voice could be heard behind the brambles.
The goddess made the roots go back underground, dropping the dead man, and there was a 5 year old Iliana trying to move the body of her father. He had been shot and blood was all over the floor and all over Iliana. She herself was unharmed though. The little girl was clearly in shock as she look at her mother.
"Mommy, daddy won't get up. I wanted to stop the man. Why won't daddy get up?"
Overwhelmed with emotions herself, the goddess dropped to her knees and swept her daughter in her arms. She didn't care if she got blood on her either.
"Mommy's here now Lia. Mommy will take care of everything."
~End of Flashback~
And she did, at least to the best of her ability. Shaking her head, Demeter brought herself back to the present to see her daughter staring at her. Taking a deep breath, she addressed Iliana.
"Well then, how about you go and apologize to Ajax for your previous behavior hmm?"
Iliana totally forgot about that but nodded in agreement. As mother and daughter approached Ajax, they saw he was with his own family. Demeter addressed them first.
"Pardon the interruption, but Iliana has something to say to Ajax."
Iliana had already started writing something down when her mother spoke. As soon as she wad done writing, she approached Ajax and showed him her notepad.
~I am sorry about my behavior before the trial when I gave you those flowers. I just felt your anger and it scared me. I am . . . able to feel the emotions of others and it directly affects me to the point where I can't control my actions or powers. So I left before I could hurt you and Ethan.~ she admitted, clearly ashamed of her actions.
While Heath knew Andromida was telling him the truth about her relationship with Jennova, it was apparent she wasn't going to tell him everything either, like when she dropped the subject. That was understandable considering they just met. He planned on keeping an eye on her too to see which side of the fence she would lay on when it came to Ajax and Mason. He recalled her testimony and it wouldn't surprise him if she was an emotional wreck right now. It would explain why she didn't say if she was okay or not. He watched her walk away and decided he was say good bye to his own mother before leaving with Iliana.
Returning to the Acropolis, he soon found his mother. Athena saw his approach and gave him a small grin.
"You did well today son."
"Thank you mother. Is there anything I should know before we leave?"
"Indeed, keep an eye on Mason and Alex when you're able to. I fear Mason may try to cause her harm. I have a feeling that sides may be drawn soon since not everyone is a fan of Alex either and there are those who would like to see such chaos, like a child of Hera and Eris. If such a time comes, I ask you been the middle ground for as smart as you are, you're not the warrior type."
While Heath agreed about the part with him not being a warrior, he still wished his mother hadn't said it so casually.
"Yes mother. I will do my best to make sure Iliana stays safe too. If such a conflict were to arise, it would be too much for her. I wish there was a way we could block the negative emotions she feels from others."
"Hmm, maybe an amulet of some sort? A stone of might help block them to an extent. Why don't we ask Zeus if he knows someone who can help. I know Nemesis and a child of hers give blessings, but I don't know if that would do the trick."
With that the two head towards Zeus and his family and find Iliana and Demeter there. Seeing Iliana interacting with Ajax, Heath goes right up to Zeus before bowing.
"Pardon me Lord Zeus, but my mother and I have a private manner we wish to discuss with you?"
Image With the trial now dealt with, and with Hades completely out of his sight, Zeus could finally grab a moment with his children before they'd have to leave him again for Camp. "I would like a word with both of my children."
Zeus said, causing the other Gods to leave the room and the arena. "My children... I have never doubted either of you of being good people, and once Camp Athens is over for the both of you, I want you to decide on something."
he held his hands together in front of him as he stood there before them, looking between them with a gentle smile. "It is your choice alone, so whatever you decide, I will be happy. You can either come and live here with me, or you can remain on Earth with your step-father." he knew it could be a possible hard choice for them, but he hadn't done it on purpose to get them away from their step-father. Zeus knew as plain as day, what that mortal man had done for both Alex and Ajax. Raised them as his own, loved Susanna when Zeus could not. He honored the man, but he wanted to remain close to his children, to get to know them better than he thought. "You do not have to decide right away." he assured them. "There is plenty of time." he promised.
Just after hugging both of his children, and before he was about to head out, someone else had joined them. First, it was Iliana. The adorable young lady from earlier. It was nice of her to apologize to his son, though Zeus did know or understand what she was being sorry for. Next, was Heath. Still polite as ever.
"Pardon me Lord Zeus, but my mother and I have a private manner we wish to discuss with you?"
"Of course. Follow me." He leads them both to a separate room. "We will not be disturbed here. How can I help?"
ImageHe couldn't contain himself. The second Alex was proven innocent, he vaulted over the wall and landed in the arena before he rushed over to her. He pulled her into his chest with his arms wrapped around her, and almost squeezed the air out of her. He chuckled as she wheezed for air. He let her go.
"You scared me."
"I know. I'm sorry. she said, her brows furrowed.
"Don't be. I'm just glad you're still with us." Mason wouldn't have agreed of course, neither would his own girlfriend, or anyone else behind them... but it didn't matter. None of it mattered anymore. Of course, Jennova was still robbed of life, but no-one could blame Alex for wanting to avenge her mother. So many would have wanted to do the same. Just as Ajax gave his little sister one more hug, their father had joined them.
Ajax stood there staring at him as Zeus announced his proposal to make a choice on where they'd both want to be, and honestly... Ajax was torn. He was already on the path towards Mount Olympus as future king, and Earth would be that home he'd miss once it was gone. Unable to step foot there, again. Unable to see the faces he cared and loved, again.
He knew his father was telling the truth. He had no reason to play manipulation with his children.
Ajax turned his head to look at Iliana with her mother. She was writing on that notepad of hers again. As soon as she was done, she turned it around for him to read it: ~I am sorry about my behavior before the trial when I gave you those flowers. I just felt your anger and it scared me. I am . . . able to feel the emotions of others and it directly affects me to the point where I can't control my actions or powers. So I left before I could hurt you and Ethan.~
He nodded. "Um.. okay..." He was confused as to why she needed to explain herself, but it was clear that she was more sensitive than the other girls, which was fine. Everyone is different after all."I honestly do appreciate it, but you, or your... brothers?" he couldn't remember if they were related or not. "Don't need to keep apologizing for what you believe to be wrong. What I'm trying to say is... it's fine. Just be yourself." He shrugged. "I should be sorry. I didn't mean to scare you, so... as an apology, how about I ride with you back to camp, huh? you can tell me a little more about yourself."
Image It felt good to finally be free, and she couldn't wait to get back to camp to be with her friends, her brother, and Duke. It felt good to have that monster inside of her head finally die, knowing that what she did, was not by her own impulse, but a cursed and manipulated one.
She looked up into the crowd, and even though some had left, and some that showed no sign of relief for her innocence... Alex smiled. Wes, Duke, and Ajax were still there, at least. For a little while. Her smile faded.
"Are you ready to head out or what?" She caught Duke say, his arm waiting for someone to hook their arm around it. It was the girl who had made such a long speech earlier. Clearly, she had impressed him for him to give her the time of day, and no doubt a ride back to camp. Alex watched, and expected even Wes to come to her... but neither of them did. Just her brother.
He ran to her and hugged her half to death, right before their father asked them to decide on something that Alex was more than happy to hear come from him. For years, she had wanted to meet him, and dreamt so many times of life beside him where she would get to see him every single day. But now that it was offered to her... she didn't know what to say. She had so much to leave behind.
She hugged her father. "We'll think about it." she answered for herself and Ajax before her father left to speak with Heath and Athena. It sounded important, but Alex wasn't about to eavesdrop. She wanted to be back at camp, so she headed out and made her way to the winged horses where Daniel stood alone.
It seemed he was waiting for someone, but the second some brunette girl arrived, Alex smiled. It was nice to see him moving on. She didn't know the girl, but Alex felt as though she was maybe what he needed to distract him. He had been through so much.
With everyone else partnering up, Alex climbed up onto the free horse, adjusting herself on its back. Maybe riding alone was a good idea. A chance to be by herself with her thoughts.
Pete watched Sloane out of the corner of his eye as she sighed against her seat. “That’s unfortunate. I thought I could go through life invisible.” She certainly made a good attempt at staying out of the limelight – he liked that about her. Though he was left with even more questions about why she’d shirk from the attention of her brother.
As the trial begun to start up again, Pete muttered back, “Unfortunately, pretty girls don’t really get the luxury of invisibility.” Then the whole thing came to a grinding halt, one small piece of evidence was revealed in Alex’s memories and the whole trial was called to a very sudden, and a very abrupt ending. Pete glanced across the watching crowd, knowing that this would not abate their desire for bloodshed. Things would only get worse from here – he was sure of it.
Sloan spoke up, though Pete had lean towards her to catch her words. “Well… that was convenient.” He couldn’t help a small chuckle that came out of him in reaction to her words. Convenient was and understatement.
He responded with a similar sentiment, though he spoke louder than Sloane not caring if he was overheard. He wasn’t speaking anything untrue. “I feel like I just watched an episode of telly that had to wrap up before the 6 o’clock news.”
“I think I’ve had enough of Olympus for quite some time,” Sloane said rising to her feet, a small sigh rolling out of her petite frame. Pete mirrored the sentiment, but was slower to do it. Watching at Sloane walked away, he rose to his feet, stretching his arms above his head, letting out a yawn. He intended to follow her, if he had to ride one of those beasts alone, he’d probably tumble to his death. But he meandered a little too much, and watched on as Mason stole away his riding partner.
So he hung back, lingering and watching Alex celebrate with her brother and father. He couldn’t help noticing that the cheer squad who had seemed intent on letting her know they were here for her, had already taken off. He waited for her to move away from the group, climbing up on one of the horses, before he meandered over, hands in his pocket. “That was certainly dramatic.” He said.
He glanced over at the few remaining campers still hovering about. “Couldn’t help noticing your cheer squad didn’t hang around. You know the one-armed one, and that walking six-pack.” Pete’s word might hurt, but it was the truth. They’d up and left, without so much as a ‘congratulations for surviving your trial for murder’ hug. He motioned to the horse she was sitting on, “I hope you weren’t planning on riding solo, ‘cause I definitely need help in not plummeting to my death.”
With that he swung up behind her, remembering Sloane’s tip about the back being easier, attempting to make himself look more a natural on horses than he was. And failing. “I’m not a horse guy,” He muttered by way of explanation.
Once they were in flight, he did lean forward for a moment to whisper in her ear, “I am glad you’re returning with your pretty head intact though.”
Eve watched Theo chew over the information, his thought process written all over his face. He really didn’t want to get involved, but he did trust what Eve had told him. Finally he spoke with a smile, “I’ll do what I can.”
Beating back a smirk, Eve forced out a relieved grin, and jumped up to wrap her arms around his neck. “Thankyou!” She settled back into her seat as they both turned to watch the finale of the trial – which ended with a sizzle rather than a bang in case you were wondering.
Eve actually felt bad for Mason as he was forced to watch his dad carted away and his sister’s murderer walk free. She didn’t know what she’d do if anyone killed Pete. Though the resentment that this trial would leave, was ripe for manipulation, a little push here and there, and she was sure she could force this whole situation to blow up. The trail having concluded, Theo turned back to her, his voice kind. Which was a good sign as it meant he trust her story. “Remember, I’ll do what I can. Just try to keep yourself out of trouble.”
“Oh, I swear it. I hate all of this drama and will stay a good ten metres away from all of it from now on.” She said replicating his kind smile. Before he could rise though, she leaned over and landed a quick kiss on his check. “Thank you so much.” She said, allowing her eye to water like she might cry again. Then he left.
She watched him leave, and her sweet smile dropped from her face. Trinity would absolutely hate it if he tried to get involved. And it would only can the next part of her plan all the more believable. Eve was interrupted from her thoughts as a body settled into the seat next to her. “I couldn’t help but notice you have nice tits.”
Seriously, not only was someone trying to pick up at a murder trial that was his opening line? She didn’t turn around, fixing her gaze forward, she hoped he’d get the message. Apparently he didn’t as he spoke again. “You’re a blonde, too, which is even better.”
With a sigh she turned around to face the internet troll come to life. And he made no secret of the inspection her made of her body, apparently he was pretty satisfied with the view. “Let me guess? You want to know if the carpet matches the drapes.” Eve responded, disinterest coating her body language and words. He was beefy, coating in an extra layer of muscle. Eve thought him the worst kind of human, one who fought battle with fists and no intelligence.
“I am Liam, the- I am Trinity’s half-brother.” A lifetime of watching other people and reading into their mannerisms taught Eve to notice Liam’s hesitation, and she locked it away to ponder on for another time. Though her ears caught on Trinity’s name, and she found a new reason to be interested in him – if only because it would piss Trinity off.
He wouldn’t get anything from Eve through such crude means, but that didn’t mean she had to act disinterested. Replicating his previous behaviour, she made a show of checking him out, running her gaze along the bulk of his muscles. Then with a smirk she leaned in towards him, placing a hand on his upper thigh. When she was close enough she whispered in his ear, “I’d call you repulsive, but I wouldn’t want to turn you on.” She squeezed his thigh, before using that hand to push herself out of her seat. She introduced herself as she got up, "I'm Eve. Sister of no one important."
She gotten a few steps away from him and was about to make a comment about him watching her ass, when she remembered the cursed flying horses. Looking back at Liam she decided he was a good an option as any to help her back to earth. “If you want to rub against me on one of those beasts, you better help me up first.” With that she turned and headed toward the waiting horses, approaching the first found, waiting for assistance to come.
Ethan was glad he had the chance to talk with his mother more after the trial. He ended up talking about his plans to return to college when camp was over and Hestia showed him her personal quarters for inspiration for inspiration since he was now taking senior courses in architecture.
"This place is amazing mother! I am just overflowing with ideas now. Do you think I can come back at some point and see more? Possibly areas the other gods watch over?"
"Oh, I am sure Athena and Demeter will allow you if you ask them nicely. I can't vouch for the others however. As far as returning here in general, there's a good chance you'll be coming back here more often then you think. So tell me, what do you think of the camp so far and I want your honest opinion on the results."
Hestia knew he would have to leave soon and she wanted him to think about what might happen next. Needless to say, she was very worried for her son in the coming days and weeks. He was a peacemaker and with the rising tensions between some of last year's campers, she hoped Ethan would became overworked. Ethan told his mother about camp and his true honest thoughts. He seemed to be on the same wavelength as her too.
"I am worried what will happen to Alex though. Some might see what happened as a waste of time and might try to stir the pot. If things do come to a head though, I don't know what I am going to do. I want to ease tensions between everyone, but I know I have my limits."
"Stick with Heath and Iliana. Seeing how all three of you are in the same boat, I can imagine they'll stay neutral as well.
"Good idea. Well I guess I better start heading back though. It was great seeing you mother."
"You too son. Good luck and be careful."
Mother and son embraced before going their separate ways.
Ethan returned to the Acropolis area and soon saw Heath and Zeus. Heath spotted his friend.
"Hey Heath, I am assuming Iliana will be riding with you right? Well, I am going to see if I can hitch a ride with someone else, so I'll see you two back at camp."
Bowing to Zeus, the demigod left the area towards where their rides back were. He saw a few others leave, including Pete and Alex. He came upon a red-head young woman, who looked she was waiting for someone to ride. He came up and smiled.
"Excuse me, are you waiting for someone? If not would it be okay if I got a ride back to camp with you? Oh, my name is Ethan and I am Hestia's son."
Ethan held out a hand in greeting.
After Ethan left, Heath turned back to Zeus.
"What I wanted to ask about concerns Iliana. I wanted to do something to help her with her empathy. She has made strides to become more open, but with all the negative emotions she has felt at camp, it appears like she's taking one step forward and two steps back. I've talked about this with my mother and we were thinking she could have an amulet of some sort to help her not absorb negative emotions so easily. At least until she's strong enough to reflect them on her own. So I was wondering if you know someone who might be able to help in that regard. My mom said Nemesis or one of her children could do a blessing of some sort, but she doesn't know if blessings work that way."
Soon Athena showed up just as her son asked Zeus for his help.
"If you have any other ideas, we would appreciate it. We don't need another situation that happened between Alexandria and Jennova. As sweet as Iliana is, she can become a ticking time bomb herself."
Heath had to agree with his mother and hoped something like never happened again. Both he and Ethan did learn from Athena that Iliana had unintentionally killed the person who killed her father and she had forgotten the whole incident.
Demeter giggled a bit as Ajax fumbled his words when talking to Iliana. Iliana herself had a hard time understanding the first part of what he said, but was caught off guard when he asked if he could ride with her though. She looked back at Demeter for assistance. Demeter came forward and decided to explain a few things.
"Iliana, I am going to tell Ajax a few things about you okay? Is that okay with you?"
Iliana hesitated, but knowing she could trust her mother, she nodded. Demeter smiled before turning back to Ajax.
"Iliana lost her father at the age of 5, Ajax. It had a major affect on her, so she briefly lived here with me. She eventually ended up living with Athena's son's family and Heath's father adopted her, so they are siblings now. Heath moved out when he was old enough and Hestia's son, Ethan moved in with him when he decided to study abroad in Scotland. Eventually after an incident happen, Iliana came to live with the boys, and she's still recovering from that incident. That incident is what left Iliana mute. Hopefully she'll find her voice again. So Iliana, do you want to ride with Ajax?"
Iliana was relieved that her mother didn't tell Ajax everything. She was still a bit leery of him, but decided she didn't want to be scared of him. She did wonder why she didn't get scared of Mason's anger. Probably because while Ajax's anger was more red hot, Mason's anger was stone cold. Seeing how she still needed to give Ajax an answer, she wrote something down and showed it to both Ajax and Demeter.
~Um, what about Heath and Ethan?~
"I'll tell Heath and I believe I saw Ethan heading for the horses. Both of them are big boys, they can take care of themselves.
Iliana sighed and wrote.
~Okay Ajax, I'll ride with you, but I won't be able to talk with you until we get back to camp.~
"Well then, I guess I'll go and find Heath now Lia. Now give me a hug goodbye okay?"
Realizing it might be awhile before she saw her mother again, Iliana hugged her mother tightly and tried not to cry. Demeter hugged her right back.
"You will be fine dear. We'll see each other soon okay? Stay strong and whatever happens, keep your chin up okay?" Demeter told her before hugging her one last time.
Soon the goddess left the two. Iliana took a deep breath before facing Ajax. She quickly wrote in her notepad again.
~Lia is my nickname. So, after you I guess?~
The blonde was feeling a bit awkward, but would be strong for her mother.
With the trial concluded, the daughter of Poseidon felt, well, probably as her father did - in between two really pathetic gods still fighting for this or that. She wrinkled her nose, her darkened eyes veered down toward Alex and then shifted to Hades as he was being banished. Or whatever it is that the gods do, Liv didn't really know. She crossed her arms over her chest; the earbuds in her ears hardly vanquished the conundrum of the trial's aftermath. Soon enough, everyone was departing.
Liv sat there for a little longer. Maybe she was hoping for a showing from her father, much like everyone else's godly parents. Yet, he does not come. Her lips did that thing where they kind of pouted, and then they thinned out with disappointment. Maybe he was also tired of being caught between the plague that is the eternal battle of Zeus and Hades.
For a quiet moment with some somber tune with the timbre of a grown-up celebrity that caters to every teenager's angsty side, she watched as demigods paired up. She couldn't shake this feeling that nothing good will come of this, even with the verdict. How could anyone know what is real? Liv wasn't so sure about everyone else, but the more she thought about it -- her gaze traveling from one god to another, flitting to the demigods one by one. It was a calculatory gaze, similar to that of Liam's, but without the combat expertise.
She looked at the more passive voices; the children of the more peaceful and friendly gods: Cherise, Ethan, Iliana, Heath - and wondered where they might stand.
"You raised some good points in the trial. You should probably just work on execution, might get more respect that way. Are you ready to head out or what?" A much closer voice crawled through her earbuds as the song died down, just during that pause before the next one might chime in. She pulled the both of them out and looked at him pointedly, standing quietly. For the moment she hooked her arm into his but was otherwise very quiet.
They make way to the beastly, white-winged creatures and her arm untangled from Duke's own. She walked to the front, whispering something under her breath. It was enough for the horse's neck to lower so that she could give it a quick pat and some simple instructions. "I need to visit daddy dearest, so I am going to need you to get as close to the ocean as possible. Be careful with the other rider and make sure he doesn't fall off. Hmm?" Of course, speaking to equine creatures is on her list of capabilities, especially since Poseidon practically invented them. She smiles at it, and there was seemingly some acknowledgment of instruction there.
Without further adieu, she hopped on - likely with his assistance and behind him. Only then would she address his earlier comments, leaning in toward him and setting her chin on his shoulder so that her mouth might reach his ear. It wasn't anything other than the Pegasus was so fast, and the wind was incredibly loud - it was otherwise impossible to get a word in without screaming at him. ”It’s not about respect. It's about… being caught up in this millennia-old game that our parents have been playing with each other. It's about not being used. Maybe even about not falling into the same traps. If I were down there, I wouldn't want to be judged because of my godly parent." She pulled away and then gave him a tap on the side, "Hold on tight."
That said, she swung an awkward leg over and edged close to falling off of the horse. She took in a deep breath, and then - just as its hooves skim the ocean’s surface, she dove right in. The execution was flawless, and she hardly made a splash as she cut through the water.
Time to find her father and maybe figure out how to deal with all of this.
"I’d call you repulsive, but I wouldn’t want to turn you on." Oh, but Liam was smart. He is just ill-mannered - thought he could do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. There were no boundaries with him. He was like an Aphrodite child on steroids and with a dash of violence. For a mama's boy, he sure was pretty vile to the fairer sex. So, when she called him “repulsive” in that sly ‘she didn’t really want to but was thinking it’ manner, he didn’t hold it against her. In fact, he just grinned wide and cocked his head from side to side, as if thinking about that comment jokingly in the recesses of his own distorted cranium.
He leaned in close, likely as soon as she did herself, and let his eyes travel to her own, "I know I am repulsive. It doesn't turn me on, but I'm thinking that you're enjoying the attention. It's okay, though, you can pretend that you're not."
"I'm Eve. Sister of no one important," she informs him while squeezing his thigh like the conniving vixen she probably is. Not that he minded, naturally. She's a woman. He's a man. There wasn't going to be much that she could do to him otherwise. It's a sexist thought, but he wasn't exactly an upstanding gentleman rooting for the efforts of women to shed their physically inferior stereotypes. He wasn't as acutely aware that there are other ways to cause a lot of harm to someone.
Then she stood, and he just sat there. Right as he practically broke his neck from unnatural extension when he observes her rear end, she caught him. "If you want to rub against me on one of those beasts, you better help me up first." With that invitation, he all but jumps out of his seat and is well on his way toward her in a light jog, slowing as he caught him.
Not the invitation to rub on her. That was borderline sexual assault, and he knew better, but the one in which they would actually ride those Pegasus'. Now, those were some scary-ass beasts - diving and swooping in that kind of way that has even a hardass like Liam clenching his buttcheeks. Which they do notice, by the way - the horses. They know when the cheeks clench, and they seem to have taken it as a personal invitation to make the flight even more terrifying on his way to Olympus.
After all, now he has a lady that will ride with him, and he can't be seen clenching his buttcheeks.
After she approached one of the horses, his large hands grab her on either side of the waist and plop her right onto it. As for himself, he just clamors on like a hot mess. The Pegasus dreaded the weight of a man over two-hundred bounds, and with Eve joining him, this horse was going to need a godly chiropractor. He placed himself behind her so that she could be secure - a small glimmer of protective instinct flickering in an otherwise abrasive and surly guy. One of his hands grasp its white mane, the other arm snaking around her waist and ensuring that Eve was properly pressed up against him. Once he felt that all were secure, and his buttcheeks were relaxed, the beast took off.
Within moments they were on the beach, and as he had helped her up, he reaches up to assist her in dismount. Once she is settled onto the ground, he releases and then starts to walk. "What the fuck to demigods do here anyway? I mean, is it all underworld versus Olympus versus ocean, or is there some purpose?" Now that there was a conversation at hand that was not about Eve's body, he maybe looks a little less repugnant. At the same time, he's genuinely curious about the grand purpose of this place. He didn't want to be part of his father's home or his world, and he certainly did not enjoy the thought of being around a bunch of high school drama kids.
Not that he was any better. Truly.
Sloane adjust her stance upon the Pegasus, waiting for whomever decided to wonder up and ride along with her. Part of her assumed it be her brother who'd threaten to toss her from the mount mid flight. Or maybe Pete again. The dark, mischievous male seemed quite reoccupied by her all of a sudden, so it wouldn't shock her. But it looked like surprise was in the cards for the day, because yet another dark male made his way toward her.
Mason was attractive, of course. Any woman with eyes could see that. But it took her by surprise how he strutted over to her not even trying to appear as if he had intentions to ride with someone else. "Hope you're not reserving a seat," he said before he climbed up onto the creature behind her.
"Not particularly," Sloane replied as she scooted forward a bit to make room for him.
"Because you're my best bet."
She couldn't help but glance over her shoulder at him, her brows furrowing. "That's a first," she said more to herself rather than him. No one ever searched her out as their 'best bet'... It was more often that she was a last resort. In one single day she went from being a fly on the wall to sharing the company of three campers. Albeit, one she sought out herself.
Sloane tried her best to remain calm when she felt Mason's arms snake their way around her waist. "Sorry." She didn't say anything, just nodded her head, reminding herself to be calm. Her delicate hands took hold of the Pegasus's main gently. Before they took off, she glanced around at the other campers as they prepared to take off. She caught a glimpse of the hulking son of Ares stumble his way onto the back of a Pegasus behind Eve. He didn't waste time. Although he looked as though he might take the opportunity to also dip his wick while discovering the truth.
She then found Pete who showed up a little too late. When his gaze met hers, she gave him a slight smile like a silent apology. Then gently tapped her heels into the side of the Pegasus to get lift off. The flight back was silent. Sloane was fine with that. Mason didn't seem like he wished to talk about it or wanted empty sympathies... She knew she wouldn't if she were in his shoes. Instead she focused on keeping them both on top of their ride until its hooves were firmly planted on the ground once again.
She turned slightly to face Mason and helped him down. Then while he still stood close, Sloane placed a hand on his shoulder, using him for support as she dismounted. "Thanks. For tolerating me."
Sloane's brows furrowed as she turned to face him. "You say that as if your presence is usually intolerable."
Mason then went to walk away, not that she was surprised. Last time she checked her presence wasn't the most sought after either. But then he stopped and addressed her again. "Do you want to get food or something? Can I walk you to your cabin?" The truth of the matter, she had no desire to go back to her cabin. There, she'd only be waiting for her brother to show up and drill her with questions about Liam, Pete... and now Mason.
"You don't have to be so polite." She stood their silent for a minute trying to find the right answer to his question. "I just wish to avoid Sylas for as long as possible. And if you want to be alone, I understand." Sloane hadn't figured out where she was going to go, or what she was going to do. She stepped out of her heels, instantly sink another handful of inches shorter than her present company, then scooped her shoes up in her right hand.
Sloane took a step forward when another Pegasus ferrying Liam and Eve landed near by. Her gaze drifted between the familiarity of the two, then back to her present company. "Aren't the two of you... a thing?" she asked quietly so only Mason could hear her. She didn't pretend like she hadn't seen some of their interactions. Sloane had zero desired to get involved in any camp drama, but she couldn't help but be sympathetic to the day Mason has been through.
"I can go take Liam off her hands, if you wish to talk with her," she offered. That wouldn't be hard, especially with her magic already working its way on him. "I doubt my presence with you would make her jealous. I'm not the type of person that other women are jealous of," she concluded as she looked toward him, deciding to linger a little bit longer.
“Probably less.” Evelyn wasn't wrong. Sylas could see the rifts between others forming plan as day and it seemed that the trial might have been the catalyst. He waited for the redhead to stand and slowly followed suit, adjusting his shirt slightly as he stood beside her. He couldn't help but feel the judemental gaze of Nemesis from Acropolis. A smirk slightly crossed his face as he followed after the red head. Just before he exited the arena he flashed a wink to the Goddess, then exited.
“Will we be riding together or do you have other plans?”
"The question would be if you wish to be burdened with my presence further."Sylas followed her to the Pegasi. He watched as the horse was pleased by her touch, pushing back into her hand. He nodded his head toward the Pegasus, before he gently took her waist in his hands and lifted her up onto the creature's back.
Before he could reply or try to mount the horse himself, one of the insufferable goody-two-shoe trio approached. "Excuse me, are you waiting for someone? If not would it be okay if I got a ride back to camp with you? Oh, my name is Ethan and I am Hestia's son."
Sylas gave the horse a gentle pat before he took a step away. "Looks like you have a taker." His expression was less than amused when he looked toward Ethan. Everything about him and his siblings annoyed the shit out of Sylas. They were like the Valises... but worse. He was surprised to see one of them away from the others. With a smile and a wink to Evelyn, he wondered his way over to an unencumbered Pegasus.
With a sigh, Sylas hoisted himself up. Gods did he hate doing this solo. But he wasn't going to let that show on his face. He watched as the other campers partnered up, his sister even long gone. He noticed Ajax unaccompanied, but had no desire to ride with him and to the best of his knowledge the son of Zeus could fly. So with a tight grasp of the mane, he set off for camp.
Thankfully the flight was short and he arrived at camp in one piece... relatively. Sylas had to all but jump off the Pegasus wanting to have his feet upon the ground. But he remained calm and slowly climbed down. He looked around at the other campers, curious to see Sloane with Mason, while a large beefy guy talked to the blonde minx. He had half a mind to linger, but instead decide to head off into the woods, following the path back to the cabins.
The flight was quick, thank the Gods. Andy didn't even waste her time trying to talk to Wes or anything. He seemed be wanting to go to his cabin and she was in no mood to deal with anyone. She slid off the back of the Pegasus and gave Wes a pat on the arm before she walked around him and headed straight for the cabins.
Andy was hoping she was quick enough to disappear before someone caught sight of her... Mason, Ajax, whomever. A few feet down the path, she started hopping as she removed her heels. Dresses, heels, makeup, that wasn't her. She stepped over tree roots and took shortcuts to get her there faster, letting out a soft sigh when she saw her cabin. She hurried up the stairs, dropping her shoes on the porch before she made her way inside.
She a kick of her right foot, she shut the door behind her. Andy didn't waste time changing or anything, instead just made her way over to her bed and collapsed face first into her pillows. With a sigh, she shifted onto her side, leaving her back to the door. She wasn't tired, instead just stood as the wall as she curled up into a ball.
“Hey. I thought – I…um...” Wes didn't say anything, he just let Trinity speak. That didn't need to start yelling at each other. “I didn’t follow you.” He had nearly forgotten he said that earlier. His gaze fell at the thought of how angry he was earlier and how he yelled at her. “I just... I'll leave. Sorry.”
Wes didn't move or say anything as Trinity finally moved and went to grab her ipod. But before she exited, she stopped. She didn't make eye contact with him as she spoke, her fist clenched. “I shouldn't have talked to you how I did. I don't own you or anything and your decisions are yours but it upset me that you would let some absolute crappy bimbo in your cabin to do god knows what.” His jaw clenched as he remained silent, letting her finish what she had to say. “Then you have those stupid Aphrodite charms that wrap everyone around your finger and the Wes defence squad gets involved.”
Before he could argue his own side, she raised her hand to stop him. “I know that's not your fault but it still bugs me.” Trinity let out a sigh, as if she was relieved to speak her peace. “I'm glad you got an arm back and that Alex made it in one piece.”
Trinity went to go walk past him and leave, but Wes slowly reached out and took a hold of her arm to stop her. "I'm sorry I yelled at you earlier," he started, speaking softly before he turned to face her. "You may not own me... But I am yours, no one else's."
Wes slowly released his hold on her arm and took a deep breath. "Trinity... I think I... You know what, no I don't think I know. I love you." He just came out and said it. His face showed his own surprise at actually speaking the words. Yay for being a stupid son of Aphrodite, unable to even try to mask his emotions. "And if you don't feel the same way... or, don't want me to think of you like that. Then I'll accept it. I just want you to be happy, if that's with me, or Theo, or someone else, or no one."
It seemed as though everything got hot all at once. Maybe it was because he was blushing or he was nervous of what she might say or not say in return. Wes took a step into his cabin, pull his jacket off and tossing it on the couch. He sighed as he gripped the back of a chair and stared at the ground. "I would never do something to hurt you. I don't want other girls. I don't want to be with other girls. I want you and only you." He ran his hand back through his hair but couldn't bring himself to look toward her. "I just wish you trusted me."
He could have mentioned Eve touching him earlier that day. How he sensed her trying to manipulate him. Maybe she did the same thing to Trinity? But either way, it wasn't his place to tell Trinity what she felt or thought was wrong, or discredit her emotions. That'd only make things worse. Wes just exhaled a deep breath as he slowly walked around the sofa before sitting down in it. His right arm moved to the armrest, his head resting in his palm. He was tired of fighting and being angry. There was nothing else he could say or do that'd make her believe him or trust him. At that point, if she wanted to leave he wasn't going to stop her.
“The question would be if you wish to be burdened with my presence further.” She could have laughed merrily but settled for a grin with her back to him. That wasn't the question at all, on a few counts now she elected Sylas's company. He was the one that had scheming to do.
“You shouldn't put words in my mouth,” she told him with a smile as he lifted her on the Pegasus, helping her to perch side-saddle. She leaned down tauntingly, now that she could leer at him from a height temporarily, “Besides, you're the one - ”
“Excuse me, are you waiting for someone?” She turned to the new face. “If not would it be okay if I got a ride back to camp with you? Oh, my name is Ethan and I am Hestia's son.”
She offered a smile to politely decline, before glancing to her favorite devil who spoke. “Looks like you have a taker.” The look he sent Ethan was unpleasant, standing out even more so with the smile and wink he sent her.
She redirected her attention back on Ethan. She shook his hand which contrasted with what she said, “What would you do if I said no, Ethan, son of Hestia?” She imagined his easy-going and pleasant attitude was hard to turn down, people often feeling obliged to react accordingly. But she was teasing the kind soul, even if he had interrupted Sylas and herself. He was a good fellow. “I wait for no man,” she replied more honestly and pat the horse invitingly as if it were her property.
Once both were comfortable upon the horse, she introduced herself in return. “I'm Evelyn. Nemesis's daughter.” Since the bloodline and parentage was such a defining factor. She wrapped her arms around him as they were no longer strangers and very much fancied staying on the creature at all times. “I would say you're free to call me Eve, but that might end ... differently.”
Evelyn couldn't find many conversations to fill in the flight time, that and she didn't want to yell even as she hung on tight. The flight wasn't all that long anyway and they soon arrived back on campgrounds. She let him dismount first. “A hand please,” she said then slid down carefully from the horse, using Ethan's frame as a brace. “Order manipulation, right? It's one of Hestia's powers. I'd hate for you to think me negative but you'll be a very busy camper.” In fact, perhaps Ethan and her would work together in the near future.
“Out of curiosity, do you consider yourself adept in your powers?”
This time when he grabbed her arm, it was gentler, less demanding. If she wanted she could have kept going but she stopped. “I'm sorry I yelled at you earlier. You may not own me... But I am yours, no one else's.”
Trinity blew out her lips slowly, not sure how to take his update. He released her arm and, like a doll, it dropped back down to her side. “Trinity... I think I... You know what, no I don't think I know. I love you.” She wasn't ready for that. She was just trying to wrap her head around him saying he was hers, then he goes saying he loves her. Her eyes widened, jaw dropped and legs felt weak. Trinity leaned against the door for support, stupified. “And if you don't feel the same way... or, don't want me to think of you like that. Then I'll accept it. I just want you to be happy, if that's with me, or Theo, or someone else, or no one.”
She could hear him but comprehending him, forming her own sentence or reaction beyond feeling overwhelmed and faint was not happening. He really was an idiot. “I would never do something to hurt you. I don't want other girls. I don't want to be with other girls. I want you and only you. I just wish you trusted me.”
Wes shuffled around and sat somewhere in the room. After a while of remaining mute and still, eventually, her eyes sought him out and her feet dragged slowly towards him. She knelt in front him and put her hands on his lap. “Why? Why do you want me?” She wasn't testing him or finding reasons for him to be the villain. Trinity genuinely couldn't figure out his attraction for her. A girl who loved all things blood, war and violence and he could have anyone.
She would have asked if he was sure if he hadn't stated he knew. Trinity bit her lip, and pulled his hand away from his face gently. She held onto his hands instead, her thumbs brushing back and forth against his skin and the metallic hand too. For a brief moment she wondered if he could even feel the contact on his bionic arm. “I don't think I know what love is to say it back,” she told him lowly and sincerely. But she did know that love was something you better damn well mean wholeheartedly when you say it. That's why she saved it. She felt strong adoration for him but needed to be sure it was love.
She furrowed her brows. “As for trust...I thought I was working on trust with you,” she confessed, confusing herself. For some reason, there was some barrier in place and she couldn't allow herself to trust him fully. She was in a stage earlier where she did trust him but then it just tumbled down and she was forced 10 steps back.
Everything she said probably felt like twisting a dagger in him instead, but she was trying to be as honest as possible. She got to her feet and wiped under her eye that had let a tear escape. “Can I see you tomorrow?” she asked softly, fretting he'd say he needed a break from her or something. But she'd respect his decision and deal with it.
Regardless, she needed a bit of breathing room after the bomb he dropped on her. Trinity kissed his head, unsure he'd allow a peck on his lips and left his cabin far behind, heading for her own.
Image As he escourted Liv to a pegasus in silence, she broke off and seemed to be whispering something to the horse. Strange behaviour had to be somewhat expected in a camp full of demigods so he waited back as if it were a privvy conversation. Once it concluded with Liv and the horse straightening, Duke lifted Liv on the back and climbed on, shuffling forward to assure plenty of room for the daughter of Poseidon.
She placed her chin on his shoulder and spoke to him during flight. ”It’s not about respect. It's about… being caught up in this millennia-old game that our parents have been playing with each other. It's about not being used. Maybe even about not falling into the same traps. If I were down there, I wouldn't want to be judged because of my godly parent."
Duke turned to face her as she pulled away. "I don't think they see it like that."
He didn't get the chance to explain further as she said to hold on tight and the horse lowered down by the ocean. Shit. Automatically Duke's grip tightened on the mane, ready to redirect the horse. Liv was moving around behind him and he paid a confused glance or two over his shoulder before she dove in. For a moment he looked at her diving space expecting her to surface and flag him down but he reminded himself she was a daughter of the sea and willingly dived.
He landed without a passenger which probably wasn't a good look to anyone that saw him pair with Liv. He climbed off with a huff patting the creature once, grateful that it hadn't thrown him overboard or diverted course. He walked to his cabin briskly. Duke had earned some rest and sleep.
Image Apparently the girl wasn't used to being a first to anyone and if he cared a little more, he would have assured her she had her perks.
"You say that as if your presence is usually intolerable."
Mason smiled a little. "I'm top three of most intolerable in camp." Because even when he was approached by the odd camper or two, he had an attitude that chased them away. It's just the way he was. He couldn't help but let the coldness in his heart show.
"You don't have to be so polite," she said. She stood like a statue for some time and Mason thought her preference clear. "I just wish to avoid Sylas for as long as possible. And if you want to be alone, I understand," she answered finally.
In honesty it probably was for the best that he headed his way and she heads her own. "If you say so," he shrugged and nodded. Just as he got a step or two away, she spoke again.
"Aren't the two of you... a thing?" Mason frowned, prepared to ask for context but when he saw the big guy and Eve, he drew the lines.
Mason narrowed his eyes on small brunette. Eve and he didn't play discreet but he didn't think they particularly drew attention to themselves either. He glanced between the pair on the horse and her, tongue pressed to his cheek. "Sloane, right?" He wanted to be sure that was her name since they'd never officially met and gone through all those formalities. "How long have you been playing fly on the wall?" Mason didn't really care for her answer or retaliation so he waved it off. "Let's say it's complicated."
"I can go take Liam off her hands, if you wish to talk with her. I doubt my presence with you would make her jealous. I'm not the type of person that other women are jealous of," she said.
Mason rose a brow and looked her over. Sure her dress looked like it belonged on a fashionable older woman but Sloane wasn't ugly. Actually she could have snuck in as one of his top 4. He appreciated the offer too, more so if he actually cared about Eve. "Don't undersell yourself. But if you want to take Liam off her hands for the sake of it," Mason nodded in their direction. "I'm not really the jealous type when it comes to our relationship." And the lack of jealousy was exclusive to their relationship.
"Goodnight, Sloane." He headed off. He was in two minds, one to see Andy and another to go direct to his cabin. The latter won. Andy needed some time to cool down and so did he.
Mason pulled his tie off glad to get rid of the foresaken thing. He should have checked the underworld but he didn't want to deal with another problem for the day. Jacket and shirt came off, then he kicked his shoes off.
Image He had a ready smile for Cherise, but it dropped when he saw the weapon she was now equipped with. A crossbow. Well it looked like it would be a nervous flight inbound and outbound. Keith rose his hands in surrender hesitantly.
“I call front this time, and maybe a nice upbeat tune. Unless you're waiting on someone, then, well - I can just hop on a flying horse with someone else. I don't want to seem like I am just clinging to the first cute face I see.”
"If you want the front and to pick the music, you can just shotgun you know?" He lowered his hands back on the horse. Then he picked up on some other certain words she said. "Cute face? Thank...thank you." Keith wanted to say her face was cute too but he wasn't good at the whole compliment business. Especially as the timing would have made it sound forced. Okay snap out of it. She probably meant nothing of it.
Keith hovered his hands out to lift her. "May I?" When Cherise was on, Keith clambered on behind her. He couldn't hug her as tight as he wanted on the rollercoaster with the crossbow in the way, so it was indeed bound to be a nervous flight back to camp as well. Before they took off, Keith brushed aside her hair softly to expose an ear and gently placed the earbud in, then handed her his music to pick a song and readied an earbud in his own ear.
He was relying heavily on company and music to distract him from the fear of falling and on uncertain angles, he would tighten his grip around her. Despite nerves etc, he did believe they made it to Camp in one piece. Being too eager to dismount, he stumbled a little, but other than that, they were dandy. "Made it again, woo." He went for the high five again before realizing he hadn't helped her down yet. "Sorry." He grinned and held out a hand for her.
"I think I'm developing a phobia of crossbows," he confessed uneasily. "You're not gonna live with that thing attached to your back, right?" That might have caused some friction in their developing relationship. A lovely girl with a crossbow was a real mixed message. The camp was already loaded with nasty, feisty and fighting demigods, she didn't have to add to those numbers.
Without any prelude, Liam’s muscled arms tossed Eve up on the horse like she weighed no more than a bag of flour. She was petite, but lifting her up shouldn’t have been that easy. Then he struggled his way on behind her, and the way the whole horse seemed to dip with his weight she wondered how safe it was to ride with a guy who looked like he broke horses in half for a living.
Naturally, he didn’t wait long before throwing an arm around her waist and drawing her snugly against him. She hadn’t expected anything else. Though the arm did have a slightly protective feel to it, which felt a little unnatural. Eve was far more used to be the thing girls needed protection from. Then the horse took off and all of her horrible feelings about plummeting to her death can rushing back. Her hands gripped Liam’s forearm that was locked around her, she used all her meagre strength, but she was certain he’d barely feel it – or at least he claim that he hadn’t.
After an eternity the horse touched down on the beach, and Eve let out a shaky breath. Liam got off first, before turning back to her and helping her down. Again looking like it took no effort. She placed a hand on his shoulder to steady herself on the sand, she was beginning to the appeal of carting around six and a half feet of pure muscle. And he even kept his mouth shut about the fact that his hands got a good grope as he helped her down.
It wasn’t until they were waking back up the beach that, he charming demeanour came back. "What the fuck to demigods do here anyway? I mean, is it all underworld versus Olympus versus ocean, or is there some purpose?"
Taken utterly aback, Eve snorted in laughter. An unattractive and actually genuine reaction. “God, you’re ever so charming.” She laughed once more before slipping back into her flirty act, punctuated with a sly smirk. Eve moved up close to him, close enough for the nice tits he’d been admiring early to push up against him. “I’m sure you’ll find something fun to do.” Her tone of voice suggested the things she wasn’t thinking of didn’t involve clothes, and only some involved a bed.
Then when the light laugh she strode up ahead of him, dropping the overly flirty act. The idea here was only to seem interested, she knew Liam’s type and all her power over him would end the moment he got what he wanted – to sleep with her. She turned back to him with a teasing grin. “I mean, there’s swimming, horse riding, nature hikes, making friendship bracelet,” She counted off the activities on her fingers before laughing. "You're going to have a great time here."
Drawing a serious look back on to her face, Eve looked out to the horizon behind Liam. She met his eyes again, swallowing once. “Being serious for a moment, you should really check on Trin. I mean, after what Theo said Wes did…” She raised a shoulder as she let the words trail off, hoping Liam’s muscled-out brain would draw all sorts of horrible conclusions. Too bad she had things to do, so she couldn't stick around to answer any questions he had about what exactly Wes did. “I’ll see you round.” She said before scurrying up the beach back to her cabin.
Though she didn’t hang at her cabin long, only picked up a few supplies before she headed out again. It didn’t take her long to get to Mason’s cabin, she used her shadow teleportation. Eve had seen him leave the beach earlier so she knew he'd be here. She knocked twice on his door. The items in her hand muffing the sound, a flask full of bourbon and a packet a cigarettes, exactly what a guy needed after today like today. Well, that and an uncomplicated, available blonde, which is something she could be.
Eve pulled a cigarette out of the packet and lit it up taking a long drag. She knew there was a strong chance of Mason slamming the door in her face once he knew who was there. But she’d give it a go, even if she had to talk through a door. “I could always poison her for you?” She offered, referring to her inherited ability, her poison could kill humans, she wasn’t so sure with demi-gods. “She’d get the sweats, and vomit real bad. If she doesn’t die, it’d at least incapacitate her for a week or two.”
