Description

Image
Name: Nicholas Kyle Soren

Age: 20

What are you: Shadronian

Human Appearance: He stands at five feet seven inches tall and weighs no more than one hundred forty pounds. Though he weighs that much, he doesn’t have a single ounce of fat on him. Nick has wavy/curly dirty-blonde hair and blueish grey eyes. He has a nice tan and six-packed abs. Nick happens to be a bit stronger than what he appears to be.

Eye Colour: Blueish grey

Hair Colour: Dirty-blonde

Height: Five foot seven inches

Weight: One hundred forty pounds

Personality: Nick tends to be friendly, fun and outgoing. He will stick with his friends through thick and thin. Though Nick is friendly, when it comes to his abilities, Nick tends to hold back a lot. He lacks the confidence with his abilities. He's affraid that if he goes all out, that he'll turn evil and start hurting the ones he cares about the most.

Power(s):
Shadow manipulation: The ability to control shadows to use as a weapon, or a shield.
Shadow walk: The ability to walk through shadows to another location. Once inside the shadows, he can't be seen, sensed, smelt, nor heard.
Shadow speed: The ability to allow a Shadronian to move much faster then anything else. The older the Shadronian, the faster they become. A Shadronian from the ages of 3 to 8 moves three times faster than a human, 9 to 13 moves just as fast as a werewolf or vampire, 14 to 18 moves five times faster then a vampire, and so on so forth.
Superior sense: They can hear, smell and sense someone or something coming at a much further distance, as well as having the ability to see in the dark, like it was day.
Hell's Vortex: The creation of a vortex (or black-hole whatever you wanna call it.) from shadows to destroy anything and everything is a large area. (This is a non-mastery ability. It's used only as a last resort. The more power that's put into it, the more energy it drains from the user.)

Role: Camp Coach

Camp: Keystone

Cabin #: Staff Cabin

Likes/Interests/hobbies: manipulating shadows to play pranks on people, soccer, swimming, running.

Dislikes: Nick dislikes humans, snakes, jocks and cheerleaders

Crush: None at the moment

Enemies: None at the moment.

History/Bio: Nick doesn’t remember anything of his life before he was adopted at the age of 5. Even though his adoptive parents knew that Nick was different, besides being able to see, hear, smell and sense things in shadows, and being able to step into shadows and completely disappear, his physical features were normal except when it came to his teeth. Nick has a mouth full of fangs. Nick’s entire life he tried to be as friendly as possible, but other kids just found it easy to make fun of him, instead of being friends with him. Though Nick has had a rough life of being picked on, he continued to be friendly and try to make friends. The past two years, Nick traveled, though he traveled as if he was searching for something. He was indeed searching for something, any and all signs of his race. Nick had come across some rumors about his race living in the high mountains of the Alps, but once he got there, there was no signs of any life. Several villages had burned to the ground along torn banners that bare the Shadronian mark, but what upset him the most was the hundreds of skeletons that were scattered all about. After Nick finished rumaging through the rubble, he received the called that Keystone was reopened, and he headed back. Nick has spoken to no one of what he found, though it places a ton of weight upon his shoulders.

Other: Nick is of a very old, very rare race, a race that is believed to be of myth, even amongst other mythical creatures. The last known sighting of the Shadronian race is believed to be several hundred years earlier. Though Nick knows what race he is, he plays it off as if he wasn’t one of the Shadronian race, and is just a mere Shadow Elementalist and the fact that everyone knows that a shadronian has black hair and black eyes, while standing at five feet ten inches, his appearance plays to his advantage in his cover story. Much of Nick's history is hidden, even from the ones he loves. Nick doesn't talk about his younger years, because he doesn't want anyone else to be scared of him.

So begins...

Bridgette
Bridgette grinned seeing Chase giggle, thinking it was pretty adorable.
"That'd be nice. Don' wan' to die on my way to see ya, right?" she said, though it was in a cheerful tone. She took a sip of her sugary tea and smiled even wider. "This is good," she commented, before sipping it again happily. She wasn't sure why, but she was in a really good mood then.

Ryan
Ryan gave Nick a weird look when he didn't say they were going to a doctor, and he went to the woods. Still, Ryan followed, not planning on leaving Avery. They came to a small fire, with people who looked ready to kill them as they approached. Nick introduced himself, in a way that made Ryan roll his eyes, and then asked for a Druid Healer. Ryan gave him another weird look. He'd heard the word before, but didn't really know much about those people. But he knew his mother wasn't fond of them. The people around the fire began to look at him and Avery, and Ryan couldn't help but feeling a little defensive. Though, Nick told them that they were with him and Ryan relaxed again.
"Stay with me, they won't harm us," Nick whispered to Ryan, and Ryan simply nodded. He then looked at Avery, slightly worried. "You holding up okay?" he asked, half whispering.

Avery was in a daze as Nick carried him, trying his hardest to keep completely still, curled into himself in the older man's arms. It was, if he was in the right frame of mind, degrading to be carried through camp like a wounded child. But his embarrassment would have to wait, he had more pressing matters on his mind. Every shadow hinted at some hidden horror, every flicker of movement of hidden monstrosities. He bit back a whimper of fear when he realized that, no, they weren't going to the nurse's office. Instead, they were heading straight into the forest.

For one delusional moment he wondered if this was another dream- if Nick would soon morph into...him and Ryan into the multitude of faceless tormentors. He bit his lip, eyes closing quickly, only listening to the conversation between Nick and... and the Druids. They were Druids. He let his mind latch onto that fact. Why were there Druids in the woods near camp? What were they supposed to do? The Fae were no stranger to them, so maybe... Maybe they could do something?

Bridgette
Bridgette gave Chase a 'You've got to be kidding me look'.
"Am I startin' to sound like you people?! People keep asking me where I'm from!" she exclaimed, eyes wide. "I'm from Ireland. Banshee, remember? I live near Easky," she said, her surprised look turning into a cheerful one. "You're welcome to visit anytime, but my moms a bit off," she added. She watched Chase put his legs up and rolled her eyes.
Ryan
Ryan watched the druids patch up Avery as he slept, and hoped Avery would have a somewhat nice dream for once. He then looked over to notice the druid lady, Shelly, had two guys put Avery on a stretcher and was having her cheek kissed by Nick. Ryan gave them both a blank look before Nick came over and asked if he had questions. "Quite frankly, I don't want to know why there's a bunch of druids in the back yard of our camp. But, I am curious why you're not more mad about...this..." Ryan said, waving his hand toward his unconscious hurt friend.

Avery's wide, green eyes remained trained on the approaching druids, watching every movement with distrust. Not that people should really blame him because, really, he'd just relived one of his worst memories and was subsequently carried out into the middle of the woods to be tended to by strangers.

He sputtered a little as the vial was brought to his lips but eventually complied. The liquid was bitter, coating his mouth in a noxious taste. He made a face as he swallowed and almost wished that he hadn't. Because now, now the exhaustion had returned sleep, creeping over him without his consent. There was a brief flash of fear that it would happen again- that nightmare, that memory, and this time he would never wake up. Then.... Nothing.

Ryan
Ryan turned to follow the druids, Nick, and sleeping Avery, but was stopped. It was the lady who'd helped Avery. Shelly or something. Ryan was about to walk off and ignore her, but she brought up knowing more about Nick. Pausing, Ryan looked at her and waited. After telling Ryan to meet her, Ryan gave a small nod and ran of to catch up with Nick. He wasn't leaving Avery with them longer than needed. Jeez, I feel like a worried mother, Ryan thought to himself.
Ryan soon fell into step beside Nick, and followed them back to their cabin.
Bridgette
Bridgette smiled at Chase as he explained himself, thinking it was kind of funny. He then wrote something down and handed it to her. Looking at it, she didn't really read it but instead stared at the writing. It didn't look like a guys writing. Smiling a bit more, Bridgette put the paper in her pocket and nodded to him explaining that it said how to get to his home.
"You have girly hand writing," she commented, not meaning it as an insult. She liked his hand writing, it was artsy, but it didn't look what you could call manly.

Bridgette
Bridgette couldn't help but smile more when Chase's face turn red. It was just too... cute. "I'm sorry, but that's how i write." He said before getting up and asking about dinner. Bridgette grinned, getting up too. She then kissed Chase's cheek, before looking at him and grinning more. "I didn't mean it as a bad thing, I like your hand writing, it's better than mine," she told him honestly, before grabbing his wrist and half pulling him out of the cabin. "I wonder what they're serving... I hope it's good," she said, talking more to herself than Chase.
Ryan
Ryan followed Nick and Avery till they got to Avery's room. Then, he paused at the door, not sure if he should go him. After the druids put Avery down though, he did half step into the door way, glancing between his friend and counselor, who Ryan thought was taking this whole thing a lot better than Ryan.
Nick pulled a chair up to the bed, looking as if he was going to stay with Avery. Ryan shifted awkwardly on his feet, not sure if he should feel happy or annoyed about this. "Go ahead and take the counselor's room down stairs. It's shielded to prevent any loose abilities to harming anyone, inside that room or outside it. Try to get some sleep, i'll be here until he wakes up."
Annoyed, Ryan decided, giving Nick a blank stare. After what happened, Ryan really wasn't all that tired, and he wasn't sure about leaving Avery. But, why should he stay? He couldn't do anything, and for all he knew when Avery woke up he'd come to his senses and hate Ryan, not wanting him around.
Ryan winced at the thought. If Avery hated him he'd be a little sad. Okay, really sad. He was the first friend he'd made in quite awhile. And you nearly killed him, Ryan's mind scolded. Sighing, Ryan looked out to the hallway and back in his friends room, not sure what to do.

Avery did not wake up for quite some time, something due to the druid potion given to him as well as the exhaustion that had plagued him throughout the week. He just laid there, breathing evening out into deep breaths, body hardly moving as he slept. And, as he slept, the wound began to do a strange thing- it began to disappear like someone had pressed the fast-forward button on the healing process until there was nothing but a mild bruising and the stain of the blood that had not been washed off.

Which was why, when he woke up a few hours later, he didn't seem nearly as frantic as he had been before the meeting with the druids. He wasn't clutching his stomach, just barely noticing the dull ache that came with bruises and strained muscles, His big, green eyes blinked to life, the fog of sleep slowly leaving as he stared up at Nick, trying to figure out why the counselor was in there with him. Oh, yes. The dream. His mind was waking up slowly as memories came meandering back into his consciousness.

"How long..." His words came out garbled at first before he cleared his throat, bringing his tongue back into his own command. "How long was I asleep?"

(OOC: Sorry guys... mostly death... I'm feeling extremely unmotivated about....everything.... )
Bridgette
Bridgette woke up early, as usual. She thought it was funny, back home she always woke up really late, but here she usually was up before the sun was. Grabbing her iPod, she put on headphones and went down stairs to find snacks, her music on shuffle. They were out of cereal, still, and something told her that wouldn't change soon. She kind of regretted eating the cheerios so fast, but only a little.
Bridgette had a craving for tea, but unlike Chase, she was too lazy to make it and do it well. Sighing, she settled for a cup of orange juice and some chips. But they looked like "health food" chips, so she wasn't too sure how great they were going to be. Finally taking a seat, she heard someone coming down the stairs. "Mornin'!" she called.
Ryan
At some point, Ryan finally made his way to the counselor room and slept. He didn't dream at all, and he was more or less thankful for that. After the nightmare with Avery, he didn't want to ever dream again. Or, at least not remembering it. After a minute of just staring at the ceiling, Ryan decided he should get up and check on how his friend was doing. He wasn't sure if he was really concerned, or was just feeling guilty, though. Probably both.
He went upstairs, and as he approached the door he heard talking and stopped. That probably meant Avery was awake. Ryan picked up something about a bruise and Shelly, but that was it. He was too tired to eaves drop anyways. Sighing, Ryan thought maybe it was best if he just kept away from his cabin-mate.

Avery allowed himself to be guided back down, not even putting up a fight as his head was once more cushioned by the pillow. Fourteen hours? Well, that was much better than he'd been expecting, he thought, blinking tiredly. His sleep hadn't exactly been restful and didn't leave him feeling energized, but he did feel better, if only compared to his week with almost no sleep. He merely watched while Nick pulled off the green plant- apparently the druids knew their potions well enough if the lack of a gash on his stomach meant anything.
"Glad to be doing better," He agreed, voice slightly hoarse, tilting his head slightly into Nick's hand when he ruffled his hair, much like a touch-starved cat. "Is Ryan all right?" Well, of course the other boy wasn't hurt, per say, but Avery wasn't stupid. Accidentally causing a friend- and he did assume they were friends even if he wasn't well versed in the subject- pain was sure to cause some emotional problems. But he really couldn't blame Ryan- he had only made the problem of his memories harder to avoid. Avery had made the memories, they weren't some illusion created by the Alp's powers.

Ryan
Ryan was about to walk downstairs and let himself sit alone worried, when he heard Avery say his name and stopped. Why would he care if he was alright? Ryan was the one causing the dreams to happen after all. Pushing the thoughts aside, he went back over to his friends door and giving a light knock, peeking inside without waiting for a reply.
"I'm okay," he said, and tried to smile. Though it was clearly forced. Ryan fought the urge to burst into a string of sorrys, knowing it would do no good. Instead he stepped inside, looking between Nick and Avery before settling on Avery, feeling more or less awkward. "You look a lot better," he offered, not sure why he even came into the room. Maybe he just didn't want Nick to tell Avery he was okay. Even though Nick was a nice guy, he still felt edgy about him talking about him.

Ryan
Ryan couldn't help but grin seeing his friend momentarily confused at his presence. It probably looked like he had been waiting outside, which he had, but not for as long as he guessed Avery thought. Though, he didn't really feel like clarifying the fact, as it wasn't really important.
Avery told him he was better, and even smiled. Considering the last time he saw Avery awake he was clutching his stomach in pain, this was an improvement. A big one. Grin widening a bit, Ryan leaned against the wall by the door and nodded. "I'm glad too. You scared me," he said, being honest. Glancing at Nick, Ryan still wasn't sure whether to be happy or bothered about his presence. A bit of both probably. Seeing Nick reminded him, he was supposed to meet Shelly at night. Frowning, Ryan sighed, wondering if he really should. He didn't know them at all, but he did want to know about Nick and why he was acting so "I know what you're go through" empathetic when they first met.
"Want breakfast? That's where I was headed before," Ryan said, which was the half truth. He had planned on getting breakfast.

"Yeah, sorry about that," He said and he was- sorry, that is. He really hadn't meant to cause a scene, hadn't meant to cause anyone undue fear, especially when they happened to be his only friend at the camp. Oh, he'd learned other names by now, could point out and name several other campers, but he didn't really talk to them, didn't eat with them, didn't play the fiddle for them. No, those things were for Ryan and Ryan alone at this point.
He watched as Nick made his exit, eyes watching the older man make his way out the door. Had he been there the whole time, the entire fourteen hours, waiting for Avery to wake up? That sort of concern was foreign to him, especially since he wasn't that close to the counselor. Still, the thought brought a warm feeling to him- what was it? Gratefulness? Happiness? The medicine working a bit too well? Whatever it may be, it felt nice.
"No, I'm fine. I'm not very hungry. You can get something, though," He said, trying a smaller smile for Ryan. No, he didn't feel very hungry right now, but he wasn't full or queasy either. Just... Content. Yes, that was the word. Content.

Avery didn't speak for a moment, biting his lower lip and gazing upwards at the ceiling. The ceiling fan was rotating slowly, almost mesmerizingly so, as it cooled the room. He let out a breath, then another, then one more before tilting his head to look at Ryan.
"No, you have a right to say that. I'm not going to lie to you. That was me... Many, many years ago. I've.... changed a lot since then." He let out a sigh and was silent for another moment, as if unsure what to say or where to even begin.
"I think I owe you an explanation," He said finally, but didn't look back at Ryan this time. "Friends shouldn't keep secrets, right? Take a seat." He gestured slightly to the chair Nick had occupied until just a moment ago next to his bed. "I may as well tell you now."

To be honest, Avery wasn't quite sure what he'd expected from Ryan. This was surely the most desired reaction- acceptance, hardly perturbed by his past. And maybe that unnerved him a bit- it was these damn human emotions, empathy, morality... Maybe he wanted someone to be at least slightly disgusted with him, to prove all the self-loathing nightmares weren't just him overreacting like Mab and so many other had insisted. Then again, over half the people at this camp might actually thank him for killing humans, but after living with them for seventeen years, the cheerful face of Miss Robinson as she helped her "son" make cookies, Mister Robinson's warm approval at a high test grade... Yes, he did have a soft spot for humanity these days or at least a realization that they had as much a right to the world as the other creatures that inhabited it.
But those thoughts were for another day, and, instead, he reveled in the unspoken acceptance, the general care coming from his friend. His lips quirked into a familiar smile.
"I did say that," He agreed. "Hand me the case-" He was cut off by the untimely arrival of the druid woman from the night before. He tensed slightly as she messed about with the still fading bruise, taking off the leaf and wiping off excess it had left behind.
"Thank you, Shelly. I'll be sure to do that," He said, some sincerity in his voice despite his discomfort. It was awkward enough to wake up with Nick by his side(although he much preferred that then to waking up completely alone after everything), so a relative stranger wandering into his room, even to check up on him, was disconcerting.
He did raise an eyebrow, however, when she asked if Ryan was still on for lunch. Lunch with a druid? A druid woman? Oh, he'd have to tease Ryan about this later.
