1,197 readers have visited Cantarella: The Match since cat847 created it.

Introduction

(yes this is based off of kellycat122's roleplay: Cantarella, but I asked her for her permission to use it, but I have changed it a lot. Feel free to join!)

In a palace folded into the mountains and surrounded by a lake, there lives 5 princes, all at age 18. It is by law that each prince has to be married at age 18, so 5 unknown girls were brought to the palace without a choice. At the palace, they were told they were forbidden to see the princes until a certain special night, the princes weren't even told that they were there, until the night of the masquerade ball.

Image

During the night of the masquerade ball, the 5 princes were to pick which one they were going to marry out of the 5 girls. The 5 girls will have to wear a mask to the ball, and till after the 5 princes have chosen who they are going to marry, they can't take off the mask. But once the mask has actually been removed, will they really fall in love with the one they chose? Or will secret affairs and relationships bloom?

Races

Vampires: They are highly dangerous. They come out only at the night and they love to mess with the weak and tease them. They have dark hair and fangs. Their eyes are usually normal colored but at night they will turn red. Vampires usually trick other humans into loving them so then they will be able to drink their blood. They are very devious and can turn into bats. They are very dark creatures and they take the form of a human.

Angels: Everyone usually has a guardian angel, but some angels don't guard a human. They usually have light hair and light eyes, they also have white feathery wings on their back. They hate to see others in pain and they will always help the weak. They don't like to fight and they try to solve things with words, not fighting. They take the form of a human with white feathery wings on their back.

Nekos: These creatures are part human and part cat. They have catlike instincts and characteristics. They take the form of a human with cat ears and a cat tail. They are very sweet and they get along with others easily. They are always full of energy and they are very active and good and lots of things, like balancing and climbing. They can be good or evil.

Mages: These are very powerful creatures. They take the form of a human. They can be good or evil. The mages that are alive are very powerful and their powers are very strong. They usually can do anything with their powers. They can turn into animals but they usually stay as humans. Mages are very beautiful.

Cancións: These creatures take the form of a human and they have powers that they can use through singing. They have different songs for different things, but some Cancións don't have songs for everything. Like they can have a song for healing and a song that can cause pain to others. There are such things as Canción Mages, but they are very rare. Cancións are very beautiful. They can be either good or evil.

Armas: Armas are creatures that take the form of a human. They can bend metal and they can use any weapon that they get their hands on like a professional. Armas are usually warriors and they can be either good or evil. They are very tough and strong. If they don't have a weapon nearby they will usually just bend some metal into a weapon and use that.

They can be either good or evil, and they take the form of a human. They have the traits and personalities of their element, like for example if they can control dark, they are evil, dark, and love to mess with the weak people. If they are ice they are cold and rude, but beautiful and they always have a soft side.

Cambiars: Cambiars are creatures that can change into any type of animal. They can be either good or evil and they always have one main animal that they change into a lot. Cambiars have the symbol of their main animal somewhere on them as a tattoo. Cambiars have the traits and personalities of their main animal also. They usually live outside and not inside.

Demons: All demons have dark hair and dark eyes and they take the form of a human or they can take the form of an animal. They love to pick on the weak and mess with them, they usually will get close to someone weak and then kill them. All demons are usually evil, but not always, and they don't mind the daylight, but they don't love it, they usually prefer nighttime. You can see them a lot during the nighttime, but not a lot during the day.

Esperos: These creatures are part human and are part animal. Like for example one could be part fox and part human, they are part any animal. They have the traits and characteristics of their animal and they often tend to look like their animal when in human form. They also have something of the animal on them when they are in human form, like for a Fox Espero, whenever they are in human form they have fox ears and a fox tail. They can change into their animal and they can be evil or good.

Humans: Do I really have to explain? Humans can be villagers, warriors, and really just anything you can think of.

Hechizo: Hechizos are creatures that are very skilled at potions and spells. They can do any kind of potion and spell, and most of them last forever, well, besides the love spell, but the love spell can last for a long time. For some spells they have to have certain things to make it. They can be either good or evil.

(Yay! First post, XD If this post seems familiar it's because it was my first post on the original roleplay)

The main hall of the castle was filled with decorations and many people had already arrived, but every minute more and more carriages were arriving and more and more people would come out of each one and enter the main hall. Everyone had masks, you couldn't see what anyone's face really looked like, but you could tell the outlines of their facial details.
__

Shinku Haraku

Shinku Haraku watched the land of Cantarella pass by silently through the window of the carriage. She was wearing a dress similar to the one she usually wore, but it was longer. She was wearing a black and white masquerade mask that hid her face, except for her eyes, and she had her white cross necklace around her neck like always. After a couple minutes, the carriage she was in pulled up to the castle doors. The person who had been driving the carriage came around and opened the door of the carriage for Shinku. Shinku stepped out of the carriage and looked at what would be her new home.
It was big, Shinku had never been in a place this big before. There were so many people and carriages that is was somewhat overwhelming. Shinku wasn't used to being in big crowds, but it didn't bug her much. She walked through the main doors of the castle and into the main hall. There were so many people inside, most of them were talking but some were dancing. Today her and some other girls would be meeting the princes and it would be announced who they would be getting engaged to.
Shinku got lost in thought, wondering who she would be getting engaged to. She looked down at the black silk gloves that covered the identical cross symbols that were on her palms. For a while, she forgot all about what was going on around her. When she looked up, others were staring at her, probably wondering why she was staring at her hands.

Rainier Caligula de Alicante

Yet again, for probably the third or fourth time just that day, Rain thanked his parents for their weird crossbreeding. True, it made no sense for Ice to come from Water and Darkness, but he wasn't objecting. Not when a thin sheen of ice separated his face from the abhorrent three-quarters mask that disfigured it. Though his real problem with the piece was that it itched. Significantly. The rough texture on the bottom of the elaborate mask bothered the young prince almost as much as the realization that he was to be randomly married did. True, not that he'd ever independently get married, and she'd just be a vessel for his children, but still... Irksome.

Without much feeling in his eyes, cold and blue as they were, Rainier stared out the upper window at the brightly colored influx of guests, fluffing their feathers and decorations and primly adjusting masks, spurts of gay laughter and high pitched indignation soaring high, like a menagerie. A fast-moving shape caught Rain's eye, and he focused on it just in time to see a little girl break from her parents, rushing through the throng to stare around, awestruck. Unbeknownst to even him, a soft smile crept across Rainier's face, though it was swiftly snuffed out with the incursion of a servant into his chambers.

"Your Highness?" The mousy girl at the door spoke quietly, half-afraid of the young man turning around. However, she realized once he'd turned that he had much reduced power to terrify her. Cold gray eyes were ringed with decadent black, the mask covering half of his nose and mouth in addition to his eyes. When she looked closer, she realized that the mask resembled a dragon, spanning the length of the young prince's face. The overall blackness, set off by contours of delicate, icy blue detailing and pretty frost at the edges. If she didn't know how horribly distant he could be, the girl thought she might have fallen for the prince just based on how he looked. Slightly dangerous, regal, but also perhaps a bit soft and certainly handsome. She pitied those poor girls. They didn't know what they were getting into. "Your Highness, you've been requested downstairs. The party's starting."

"Oh." He nodded. "Thank you."

For some reason, the young woman blushed as she left his room. Rain gave the area a perfunctory glance. He could see nothing that should have so embarrassed her. Perhaps she had fallen ill. Well, so long as that did not affect her standard of work, and she didn't infect anyone else, that didn't concern him. Rainier slipped on his gloves, making sure that they came high enough to cover his scar. As the palace staff had chosen to give him a slightly draconian look for the occasion, there were no sleeves on his shirt, and the young prince had no desire to be questioned about "those horrible marks". Odd enough to show sections of his chest. Slightly... risque, even. But as a regent, he could get away with that.

At least there was one benefit to disguise. As Rainier descended the stairs, no one stared, not a single person accosted him with unctuous flattery. Sure, he attracted glances, interest - it would have been odd if he didn't. But no shocked adulation. Apparently there were people from every land in this place, so without a mask, some of his own surely might have recognized him. Even after an almost decade-long stint in hiding.

In the midst of the chaos, Rain paused. Surely, in a moment, he would have to talk to someone, most probably one of his less scrupulous, or at least less reserved, fellow princes, but until that moment, the highness was content to stand in the middle of the throng, watching the vain birds parade.

Halo (last name forgotten)

'I'm almost there. C'mon... I can do this!'
This is what Halo thought to himself as he slowly crawled along the thick branch of an oak tree, yellow-green eyes narrowed in concentration as he crept nearer to his target. What an interesting target it was; for at the very tip of the branch sat a brightly colored butterfly, flapping its wings lazily in the sunlight. They looked so fragile, so easy to tear... Halo had never seen something look so precious. This aroused his natural curiosity and, of course, now he just had to touch it.
"I'm almost there." he muttered, raising a hand to his face to brush the hair out of his eyes. Careful not to lose his balance, he placed his hand back on the branch, vision now clear.
Suddenly, a loud cracking noise vibrated in the air, its small echo lingering for just a moment. It was enough to surprise the young prince out of his mind. Eyes widened slightly, a jolt shook his body as he started to lose his balance. "Erm..."
This was now a battle against himself. He teetered ungracefully on the branch, arms waving frantically as he struggled to fight gravity. But alas, if he was somehow able to regain his balance, Halo would simply not be very Halo-like. In what could have seemed like five seconds or five hours, Halo slipped off one side of the branch and plummeted towards the ground.
"Oof!" His head broke his fall. Halo felt the air rush out of his lungs as his torso slammed the ground, landing face-first into the grass and dirt underneath him. For a moment, the prince did not move; his arms were eagle-spread across the ground. After a few seconds, he flipped himself onto his back and stared straight at the sky.
"Hey, what's that on my nose?" Halo said quietly to himself. It tickled. He crossed his eyes in an attempt to examine the object on his face. There sat the insect that he had spent hours hunting; its wings continued to open and close slowly. There it was. Mocking him. Laughing at him. Apparently Halo had lost interest in examining the insect, because he shooed it away. He watched it as it flew into the sky, and continued to do so until it disappeared from sight.
Suddenly, a loud whine penetrated the air. "OWWWW!" Of course, this came from the prince himself. The pain in his head had been bothering him for some time after he fell, but only now did he feel that it was the right time to express himself. "That hurt! That hurt really bad!" Pfft. The man sounded more like a child than a prince.
'Oh yeah, what is it that made me fall off of the branch?' he remembered as he rose to his feet, his left hand rubbing the back of his head. It was throbbing; just barely, but it was throbbing all the same. Without hesitating he turned around and examined the forest around him, looking for the source of his fall. It was the same as usual; lush, and very green. Green was such a great color. It represented growth and life; and that is why it was his favorite.
"Halo, you're late!"
A scolding voice attracted Halo's attention. The white-haired prince turned to face it, and smiled happily at its source. There, standing on the road that led back to the castle, was Kazuhiko. "Kazu!" Halo said happily, his face lighting up like one of a five year old boy with an ice cream cone. "It's been forever, Kazu. How are you doing today?"
Kazuhiko, or "Kazu", was one of the soldiers assigned with the job of protecting Halo at all times. He also happened to be one of the prince's closest friends. They had known each other since they were little. Back then they were able to play and mess around all the time, but now that they were older they both had their jobs to do. There was simply no time to sit around and have fun. Halo failed to understand that, but Kazuhiko was not so blind.
Kazu brushed the hair out of his eyes, a look of exasperation and frustration on his face. "Halo, you're late for the ball. Everyone else has already arrived... You aren't even ready yet. If you don't look nice tonight, I'm never going to hear the end of it."
"Wait... what ball?" Halo raised an eyebrow, confusion flooding his innocent green eyes. After a few seconds of pondering this, he remembered. "Oh yeah, that ball. That's today?" A sheepish expression found its way onto his face. "But... But I don't want to go..."
It was clear that Kazu was restraining himself from rolling his eyes, and it took some effort. Halo would always and forever be Halo. "You don't have a choice. Now come on, you're late enough as it is. I'm going to get yelled at because of you; It's my job to make sure that you do what you're supposed to, remember?"
Halo grinned, his pearly white teeth seeming to light up his whole face. "Awh, come on Kazu, you're as bad as my mother. I'll go get ready, if that's what you really want." That was just an expression, of course. Halo's mother was long gone.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In about another forty-five minutes, Halo was ready. It probably would have gone by faster if he had not fought his maidservants the entire time about his appearance. He probably looked nicer than he had in his entire life. His body was covered with a silky black tux, the cuffs folded neatly back and his white shirt underneath nicely tucked in. Against his will, the maids had helped him put on a long tie. Honestly, he'd probably rather not wear something like that, but he had been forced to. Halo was hopeless with formal clothing. He wouldn't have been able to put the tie on himself if his dad had hired a private tutor to teach him how to do it. His hair was actually kind of combed; not obsessively so, but it looked nice enough (like it does in the pic).
"Bye." Halo said as his maids walked out of the room. No, he wasn't going to say thank you, because he did not feel thankful. 'Looking nice feels so... suffocating...' Halo thought to himself. Because he did not want to upset anyone at the party, he decided against making some changes to his outfit. However, if the other princes were as much against this as he was, then they would probably do what he wanted to do. If that were the case, he would follow.
"Oh yeah, almost forgot." Halo muttered, serious now. He turned back to the dressing table and looked at a white face mask laying there. "I can't go down without that. People would get angry." he murmured softly, grabbing the mask and putting it over his face.
Without further hesitation, Halo exited his room and walked down the cobblestone stairs, hands carelessly stuffed in his pockets. Of course, he got a few glances as he walked down; some admiring, others curious; some disgusted. Not many would think that Halo was a prince, for he surely did not carry himself like one. But that wasn't really important right now. As long as no one knew who he was, he would be fine. Halo hated it when people treated him nicely just because he was a prince. He wanted to be treated like they would treat him if he were just like everyone else; he wanted people to be honest to him, to not hold back whenever he asked him something. Halo greatly despised the people pleasers.
'This is it.' Halo entered the room, attracting no attention as he merged with the crowd. 'Oh yeah, I'm engaged, aren't I... I wonder who I'm marrying. She should be here right now; I'll probably meet her today.' The other princes would be around, too. Knowing Halo, he probably wouldn't recognize them if he tried.

Rave "Eagle Eye" Heartnet

At medium height, tanned skinned, and silver haired woman wearing a ball gown and had the top half of her face hidden behind a masquerade mask was standing in front of the castle after leaving the boat that she arrived on. Her mask made her ocean blue eyes and her platinum hair stand out more than they normally would. In a way, Rave's looks did look exotic to most people that weren't Armas, Armas tend to have odd combonations of their skin tones, hair color, and eye color. A few people stopped and stared at her as they went to go inside for the masquerade party, but they quickly made their way when Rave shot each group a death glare. Unlike most, if not all the guest, Rave had no other choice or say to coming to this stupid noble party. To think today did started out as a normal day with a few good twist. That was until she reached to this point....

Loud clanks of metal hitting metal fill the air around the semi-newly rebuilt blacksmith shop on the outskirts of Throncrest, her hometown. Ravelin continued to pounding her hammer against the iron was glowed red from the hot coals it came out of not long before. With each strike, yellow sparks flew from the hot iron to the stone floor. It was just over a year ago that they family blacksmith got rebuilt from the fire three years back. It was still a mystery how the fire got started, but it no longered mattered. She was just glad she could finally forge again on a daily bases. A few more minutes of loud clanking before Rave put her hammer back on the wall tool rack and took a pair of togs. Rave got back to the anvil and she picked up the iron, that now took the shape of a sword thanks to her and her hammer, and placed the nearly completed sword that still glowed into the barrel of water. The moment that the glowing blade touched the water, it set of clouds of steam. "Well, that's should be enough for now," she said to herself as she took her thick leather working gloves off. She wiped the sweat of her brow with her arm before taking her break. As she got towards the front of the shop, she wasn't surprised that Sado was there waiting for her. "Hey, Rave! On your break?" He asked with his normal lazy grin. She stared at him and act like she was going to punch him which caused him to flinched, but she stopped at the last second. A grin formed on her face, "Two for flinching, Sado." Then she playfully punched him twice. "Of course I'm on break, otherwise I would still behind the anvil," she finally answered his question. Weird to think that three years ago that she used to kick Sado's butt everyday for showing up at the shop and asking her out on her every break. Rave even broke both of his legs off hoping that would send the message to buzz of. That idiot came to the shop the next day! Long story short, they have been a couple for three years and still going strong, maybe even going stronger. "Want to grab a bite to eat at the usual diner?" She asked pointing her thumb to a building a little ways behind her. "Sorry, but not today Love. I got a few things to do before our dinner date and bring your old man and your bros. I got an announcement to make that they'll kill me if they weren't there for it. I just wanted to check up on ya' and see if you hadn't skipped town on me," he joked as he gave Rave a quick kiss before he headed off on his way. She already had an idea about what's his announcement was about, and the whole town has been talking about it. But nothing is for sure until dinner, if things go as what she's thinking it's going to be then she might end up like her married older brothers.

"Hey, Rave! Come spar with your old man!" Her father called over to her as she was on her way back to the shop after her break. After her training, her father only spared with her if he wanted to talk about something. That was a weird thing about the guys in her family, they could never say what's on their minds unless they're fighting. "Sure, it's been a while!" She called back with a smirk on her face and drawing her sword and rested it on her shoulder. Her father drew his sword as well and their fight began. They keep exchanging even blows and blocked each other's attacks. Somewhere in the middle of their fight, her father finally started to talk. "Hey! Remember when you were just a kid and I would tell you stories about princesses being rescued all the time?" A clack was made when her father tried to attack her but she blocked it and was able to push him off of her. It was her turn to make her counter attack, "Teach me how to not end up like a weak, good for nothing, lazy, prideless noble and make me the strongest I can be. If I'm not mistaken." She answered. Her father grinned and put away his sword, "Yep. I taught you and your brothers everything I know, but who to think you would have a natural ability to see through your opponents weakness and earn the nickname Eagle Eye. Now that I think about it, you hadn't tried to kill off any of your brothers lately over something idiotic they did." "I hadn't stopped plotting their deaths, but Sado kinda wants ALL of them to come to dinner tonight," she replied with a smile on her face. Her father's grin slowly shrinked into a soft smile as he walked towards her to only to put her into a head lock with his grin returned. "When did you grow up so freakin' fast? Are you trying to make me feel like an old man?" He asked letting her go, with her coughing. "You better tell me if that Sado boy ever makes you cry, ya' hear!" Ravelin finally stopped coughing and stared back at her father with one hands on her hips. "Now Pops, just because Sado invited you and the idiots to dinner with us and told you guys that he has something to say doesn't mean-" She was interupted by her father laughter as he patted her shoulder, "Yea, Yea. Don't you have to get ready?"

She was walking back home, the sun quickly went down after she finished talking to her father, when she felt a presence making her stop right in her tracks and places one of her hands on the hilt of her sword. "Pops?..... Sado?" No answer. Rave's sword was quietly was completely pulled out. "If this is some stupid prank, idiots, it's not funny. What will be funny is me tormenting you." She added breifly thinking it was one of her brothers, still no answer. Who had business with her at this time of night? Sado, Pops, and her brothers would be on their way to dinner if they weren't there already. Yes, she might've mad more than one person made during her lifetime with her comments or just hurting their pride by beating them in a fight. But no one would hold a strong enough gruge to play games like this. Then all the sudden, someone was singing a casting a lullaby spell making her slowly lost consciousness....

When she came to, here she was on this small but high class boat with a few maids holding a blue and black ball gown and one maid was holding a black masquerade mask. Rave tried to get up and to shove the maids out of her way off the rocking boat, but when she stood up her legs gave in and sent her crashing onto the boat's floor. Two of the maids rushed to help her back on the long beanch that she was probably was on moments before. Two guys dressed in green cloaks, they also has their hoods over their faces, came in the cabin. "What is going on here?" Rave demanded as she was trying to hold her top half up with her wobbly arms. One of them stepped forward, "You are going to attend to a masquerade ball at Canterella Castle where you will be engaged to one of the five princes that will be attending. We drugged you before hand so that you wouldn't cause these maids any trouble when they'll change you in your dress, and the drug will not completely leave your system until tomorrow morning."

Which brings her here in front of the castle, with whatever drug they used on her was slowly wearing off, but now at least she can walk straight and have normal functions. But fighting anyone to escape was out of the question, Rave might have enough power ti fight off maybe three Royal guards. Other than a three or at most five soliders, she would be absolutely useless because of the drug. Not only her fighting ability has been massively cut but now she has a monster of a headache. 'That's just perfect,' she thought sarcastically. But hopfully this wouldn't be much of a problem, all she has to do is make sure that to be her usual self and no one at this party will want her as a dance partner let alone wife. It wouldn't be hard to think that someone as high class as a freakin' prince would someone as rude and violent as her that was a mess in a dress. Seriously, she maybe only wore a dress only once maybe twice but those were simple dresses that were easy to put on and move around in unlike this dress. But soon enough she will be back at home with her father, idiotic brothers, and Sado. "Man, now I feel guilety leaving Sado alone with my family and with him being already being nervous without me being a no show because of this stupid ball!," she grumbled to herself. Well, she's just going to have to make it up to him some how even though he would understand, but she would still feel guilety if she didn't try to make it up to him some how. "Alright, let's get damn thing over with." Ravelin said to herself shocking the people around her with her crude language. '~This is gonna be easy~ ' She chimed in her head as she walked inside. All the decorations and the huge size of the place did catch her off guard, it seemed like everything inside was either shiney or sparkelly making her eyes hurt for a few second until she gotten used to the over the top, grand decor. Her best bet into finding a way to escape without much of a fight, was probably to seek out another of the "Choosen Five" girls- at least one of them to survive the night without seriously injuring one of these 'high and mighty' nobles.

Aria Adonia Calista Syviis

Aria stared up at the castle entrance, her eyes narrowing slightly through the slits in her black masquerade mask. Her carriage was coming to a rolling halt, as she was the second or third in line to the entrance. Of course, her father had picked black horses to accompany the carriage, and of course her mother had insisted on a very light red coloring for the inside of the coach.

Aria really could have cared less about those things.

Didn't her parents get that she was to be officially engaged to a prince today? She was a bit excited at the prospect of it all, sure. But were her parents? Or did they only care about the presentation of it all?

Aria looked down at her dress; a bit sheer in areas that maybe should have been covered with darker fabric. Obviously they cared about the presentation. But Aria shook her head with a small chuckle - they also cared about her, and her happiness, and she knew it.

"Are you sure that you're going to go through with this?", her father had asked her while she was getting ready. She had touched her wavy red hair as she stared at her reflection in the vanity mirror. "Yes. I will. Don't worry yourself..." she had answered, a small smile finding its way to her face.

And now, here she was. Just outside the doors to the palace - her coach had pulled up while she was thinking, and the footman was helping her out of the door of the carriage. It still felt a little surreal to her, but the girl had yet to put her guard down. She had never been to a party of this calibre, especially one that involved her being engaged to someone she had never met, and never even known the name of.

"It could be anyone..." she muttered to herself as she stepped into the ballroom, finally inside. And her eyes found themselves once again narrowing slightly as she inspected the large crowd around her. Well, there was no luck of finding out who it was before the engagement announcements, so she figured she might as well not bother. She might a well have some fun before hand.

A pleased smirk found itself crawling up on her face, and she pushed through into the crowd, not even bothering to care where she was going. Might as well find something to do, she figured. With a muttering of a Haiku, she touched her finger to her dress, almost instantly brightening it up with sparkles that seemed almost alive as she made her way towards the center of the room.

"Spring rain is coming.
The droplets glitter freely
in the midday sun."

A few cast glances in her direction, and a few gave her confused looks. A few smiled. A few simply stared. But she payed them no mind. The music in the room was already getting to the Canción side of her; she showed her approval by lightly humming along as she found the refreshment table. Deciding thats where her trip was to take her, she picked up a glass of ice water, and sipped it, immediately feeling the cool rush of liquid in the semi-warm room.

Her thoughts soon returned to that of her future fiance. 'A prince...' she mused. 'He's probably got a stick up his butt or something. Here's to hoping he's an exception.'

Rave "Eagle Eye" Heartnet

Rave walked around the ball room aimlessly while trying to locate one, if not more, of the other five girls. Which is proven a lot harder than she first thought it would be. For starters, she never even met the girls before let alone knew what they looked like. For another, even if she knew what they looked like it was nearly impossible to recongize them with everyone wearing mask. 'I guess going with my gut and seeing if there were girls looking out of place was not the best of ways to search for them,' she thought as she gave up and went over to the drink serving table.... That had no sake or beer as a selection. "It figures that nobles would drink their weak and fruity drinks instead of real acohol," Rave grumbled to herself as she decided to get a water. It was probably a good thing that they weren't serving sake or beer, the last time her headache needed was a possible hang over later on. Not to mention it would be best to stay sober while thinking of an escape plan, being drunk and escaping a castle doesn't seem to be a friendly combonation. An annoyed sigh escaped from her lips as her ears couldn't help but to pick of the gossiping fools around her. Figures, nobles didn't care to lower their voices if the person that they were talking about wasn't higher of the power chain than they are. From what she gathered on the muttering, they were mainly complaining about Rave "Having eyes of a rapid dog", "Eyes of a killer", "Probably too stupid to socalize", "A mess in a dress, look how she could barely walk in her heels," etc. While a few others were talking about some red haired girl that came to the masquerade ball in a black and revealing dress, "It's a ball for crying out loud, not a harlet house!"

A smirk briefly formed on Rave's lips at the idea if the party's 'harlet' overheard them disapproving her dress.... As while as a stray thought. What if this red head was one of the other five girls? It was worth at least to check out after all. It was kinda hard to think that a noble would come in an outfit that would cause negative attention, well it was hard to think at all with this blasted headache of hers. "If I ever see those two casters when I'm at full strength, they will pay far worst when Kail hid my sword," Rave muttered under her breath as she took another sip of her water, glancing around to see if she could find the red head that group of pig-headed girls were complainting about. Sure enough, the girl was actually not far from where Rave stood now. The girl was just end of the drink serving table, which were a lot of due to the large number of guest. The clear glass that Rave was holding was given to a waiter, to refill it, before introducing herself to what she hoped to be one of the five girls. That was until three sons of nobles appeared in front of her. "Hey, beautiful. I hadn't see you around before, is this your first ball? How about a dance?" The one in the middle asked her as he stepped into her personal bubble. Another thing that rave has learned about nobles, some of them just do not respect personal space. Her free hand pushed the foolish noble aside. "How about you back up and go drown in a fire. I wouldn't waste my time on you fools even on my happiest of days," she replied as she took a step towards the red head girl only to be cut off by the same trio, who didn't look like the approved of her blunt honesty. The sight of the three made Rave rolled her eyes before saying, "Look. If I could bend any metal and crack any stone with a single punch, I can easily break your necks with the slightest of ease. Now, move out of my way or else you'll get a painful lesson that your mommy and daddy should've taught you long ago."

EVANIA SYLBR

Sipping a glass of water, Evania attempted to weed out the other girls, and only succeeded at spotting one. Walking over to the woman (who was wearing a beautiful black dress), she somehow managed to trip over the back of her dress, spilling her glass on the floor. Desperately holding her unraveling mask to her face, she hurried to clean up the mess, and was quickly interrupted by a waiter of some sort who told her not to worry. She was after all a guest, a princess in fact, and shouldn't be ruining her dress over a job for a maid. Looking up, Evania was embarred by the amount of accumilating people who stared at her with some sort of distgusted fascination. 'Nice. You've been here, what, ten minutes? And already this people think you're nuts.' Sighing, she picked herself up, refitted her mask, and stole the nearest chair. She had always had a knack for acting out of place, and some even got the impression that she was full on insane. 'Well that's not to far off, now is it Eva? That's just about the only thing you're good at. Being... odd.' Evania also frecuently talked to herself, especially when she was nervous (which happened quite often), but what could she say... it turned out her in-house monologue could be very useful, albeit very insensitive. Politely asking the nearest waiter for another glass of water, Evania decided to wait for her partner to come and find her. 'That way, while you're sitting down, we won't have any more accidents! Then again, anything's possible...'

Kail Levontes

The lush green and soothing colors of the forest flashed past a young Prince dressed in formal attire as he snapped the reigns of his stallion, urging the animal to push forward faster. The black stallion's hooves rhythmically pounded against the moist earth, making it easier for the Regal looking young man to relax in the saddle. It felt so good to be outside, with the wind blowing through his hair and the sounds of the forest whirling past him as his thoughts wandered back to the other day.

Sounds of metal and wood could be heard cracking against one another, and yelps of excitement and laughter echoed through the courtyard, cheering the name of the young Prince Kail as he was dueling a fellow soldier. Kail grinned widely as his opponent attempted to swipe his feet out from under him with his staff, failing as Kail reacted by leaping into the air, performing a back flip and landing on one hand, swiftly using his own staff to knock the soldier on his back with his free hand. Kail laughed and used both his arms to push himself off the the ground, landing on his feet in front of his friend, offering him his hand.

"Nice try, but you should know that move you tried would just come back to get you." He joked with a slight smirk as he pulled his friend up, patting him on the shoulder.

As he turned to bow to the other guys who were clapping as the match ended, he felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to see who it was. It was his father, King Rorick. All the Soldiers came to attention, but the King quickly waved them to continue on.

"Ah, Father! You just missed another one of my victories!" Kail said with a smile. "Indeed, but I do think I have seen enough of those to last me a lifetime." His father chuckled, "Come, take a walk with your old man.." He said, steering Kail away from the rowdy soldiers as they continued their training matches. "Yes, of course Father. What's on your mind?" Kail questioned as they walked towards the entrance of the Castle. "Me and your mother have something we need to tell you.." King Rorick continued, glancing at Kail from the corner of his eye "And I am not sure how you're going to handle this kind of news." Rorick said as they neared the throne room.
Kail's eyebrow raised in question, "Er...what do you mean pops? Is someone dead or something? Aww..don't tell me its Aunt Petunia! You know it's not true...that woman is always saying she's dying JUST to get me to come visit her.." Kail mumbled, shivering as he thought about his Aunt's horrible stale cookies she made for him, that he apparently just dies for. "It's a wonder she isn't dead if she eats her own darn cooking.." he scoffed, making his father laugh, although he regained a serious face immediately and paused, turning to face Kail before they entered the Throne room.

"No, Kail, it is not that kind of news. It's good news." He father continued, placing his hands on Kail's shoulders. "Son, you're getting married."

Kail's face froze in shock, his eye twitching as he tried to comprehend the words his father just spoke. "W-w-wait...What....did you say?.....M-Married?...ME?! ARE YOU CRAZY?! I'm too young and handsome to get Married!" He burst out, suddenly throwing the heavy grand doors open, stomping into the Throne room to see his Mother sitting in her thrown, bouncing Kail's little sister Lorna on her lap, both of them laughing.
"Mother! This can't be true! You guys are just trying to mess with me aren't you? You always play pranks on me when it's my Birthday, but this...this is just too much!" He huffed marching up the stairs. His Mother, Queen Lyvian, stopped laughing and stood up, setting Lorna in the Throne behind her, turning to face Kail with narrowed eyes. Kail's scowl immediately dropped and he took a step back when he saw the look on his Mother's face. He had forgotten in his outburst about the Wrath of his young mother. She had a way of turning you to ice with just one glare. He quickly recomposed, and tried to start over in a different approach.

"Er...dear, beautiful mother...don't you think It's just a tad too soon for me to get married??.." he pleaded, his eyebrows scrunching together. His mother took a few steps down the stairs until she reached Kail, taking his face into her hands. "No, I do not think you're too young at all! You're just the right age." She said, her smile coated in sweetness and her eyes becoming starry. "Oh, I remember when I was to marry your father...he was 18, and I 16.. It was perfect. Except for the fact I hated him at first...but oh, that was part of the fun!" She mused and giggled as she thought of the past. "Be sides," She began, tapping Kail's nose with her finger like a child "I am giving you the great gift of a beautiful girl for your 18th birthday, I do think that is quite good present myself. All you have to do in return is provide mummy with little Grandbabies!" she said with a slightly creepy laugh as her face drifted off into though. Kail's father coughed in the background at his Wife's immature ways.

Kail's nose wrinkled as his mother began to chuckle to herself, plotting the future he guessed. He started to open his mouth to say something, but saw his father shake his head, making him sigh. Kail knew, just as his father did, that there was no use arguing with Lyvian. His shoulders slumped slightly as he gave into defeat and sighed again. He stayed standing in the same spot for a moment as his Mother giggled on next to him, her head stuck in the clouds. Perhaps....it wouldn't be all that bad, getting married that is. Hopefully it just Sounded awful. Married to a beautiful girl, it couldn't be so bad. It was kind of like...a new challenge! Kail's usual smile re-emerged onto his tanned face and he grinned with this new thinking having entered his mind. Kail had always been one for challenges, and this was possibly the greatest one yet.

"Alright Mother...I accept your Challenge of Marriage!"

---

Kail resurfaced from his thoughts of the past as lights came into view as his Stallion broke through the edge of the forest. Kail pulled back on the reigns, letting the horse slow down to a slow gallop as they neared the bridge that lead to the Palace, which was jammed with carriages arriving for the Ball. It had been nice to get fresh air before the big night, and it had calmed his nerves, but now he was running a tad late...his mother was going to kill him! He reached into the hidden pocket in his jacket and slipped a black and golden Masquerade mask on as he strode past the carriages on his horse, nodding his head to guests as he passed them. He made it to the front of the Palace shortly, pulling up to the side slightly out of view and hopped off his horse, handing the reigns to a nearby servant. "Please take him to the stables right away, thank you." He flashed a smile, making the girl blush. Kail ran his fingers through his hair as he headed for the stairs, trotting up them with his head held high and a grin on his handsome face.

He got many looks from girls as he entered the breathtaking Palace, as well as men, although the men's looks were a bit disapproving. Perhaps it was because of his attire. Yes, he was wearing regal looking clothing, it was just the little tweaks that may be considered a bit risky. His jacket was black and sleeveless, with a stiff collar and gold trim. The front was short, ending at his hips, the back being split like coat-tails with squared ends and hung at the back of his knees. Under his jacket, he wore a plain white cotton shirt tucked into his pants with a deep V that went to the middle of his chest, strung together loosely by black string that didn't do much about hiding the bare skin beneath. He wore were simple heavy black cotton pants that tucked into his shin high leather boots with golden embroidery on the tips and sides. And to top off his attire he had his usual Red sash that was tied around his waist in a neat knot, the slack leftover hanging down the middle in an almost Egyptian way. Yes, it was quite the statement for a Royal Ball. But Kail did not seem to notice.

Kail strode through the crowd, stopping to say quick hello's to guests and soon made it near the back of the throng, near the main staircase that lead upstairs. He started to make his way up the stairs when something small suddenly clasped around one of his legs. He peered down with a laugh as he saw his 4 year old sister Lorna clinging to his boot, wearing a glittery blue ball gown and a tiara placed on her small head full of long brunette curls.

"Well, hello there pretty lady, where did you come from??" He chucked as he bend down to give her a hug, swooping her into his arms and standing up while holding her, "And how did you recognize me with this ridiculous mask on?" He said, kissing her forehead, then noticed she had no mask. "Where's your mask you little cheater?" He asked, pinching her cheeks in a big brotherly manner. "Too itchy!" Lorna replied, making a sour face. "Ah, I would have to agree with you on that one.." kail replied with a grin as he reached the top of the stairs, setting his sister down. Lorna turned around and hopped over to Lyvian, their mother, and hung onto her dress. Lyvian smirked at her son. "Hmm, so you decided to make it to your engagement party after all, I was beginning to think you may have run away!" She said, dramatically throwing her arm over her face to cover her fake look of despair, "That would have just been too much for your dear mother to handle. It would have hurt me so to have you personally hunted down and drug back here by any force necessary.." she peaked through her fingers to see Kail roll his eyes at her dramatic antics. "You really think I would have run away? Not a chance." Kail's lips peeled back into a grin. He was actually looking forward to tonight, and was interested to see whom he was matched up to be married to.

Aika Mochika Kagamine

Aika fidgeted in her seat as the carriage that would take her to the castle drove along the bumpy road, which was quite uncomfortable for her. Aika was a bit anxious, she had never been to a ball before or had to wear a mask on her face but her mind was more on something else. She was supposed to be getting married to a prince, a prince! Something she never would have thought would occur in her life; the more she thought about it, the more it sounded like a fairy tale or of the sort. Most girls she knows would kill to be in her place, but for some reason she wasn't really feeling the excitement.

Suddenly her hands found their way to her long white ears, she grazed her fingers along the edges and pouted, 'Will I stick out like this?' Sure she had the masquerade mask on and a beautiful dress that seemed to fit the event, but she had long white rabbit ears coming from her head. It was the norm in her village but she was going to a different place where she wasn't even sure there would be others like her. Several times before leaving she had tried to hide them under a hat but it didn't look right with the outfit and they wouldn't stay, they'd just pop out forcefully. Then she figured that if her husband-to-be couldn't deal with her ears, it really wasn't meant to happen.

"Young Miss, we have arrived." In the midst of her thoughts the driver had come around and opened the door to the carriage for her to step out. "Oh, yes..."Aika realized this and hurriedly exited the cart but once she touched the ground she stared up at the palace in awe; she had never seen anything like it in person, only in books. Sure her village was in the neighboring forest of Cantarella, but she had never came anywhere near to see it before today. She watched as others exited their rides and entered the palace, they looked much more like nobility than she, which made her feel a little awkward; realizing she looked quite odd standing there, Aika entered the building also. Once she got inside she was overwhelmed by the scene "So many people..." She whispered to herself, she looked around to see different people of different species; the palace acted as a melting pot for all the different species today and it was exciting to Aika, she clenched her fists and smiled 'Alright, let's make the best of this!'

Seeing as it was quite difficult to just stand in the middle of the floor without some violation of personal space, Aika decided ti would be best if she just stood to the side. The rabbit eared Espero picked up her dress, to avoid tripping, and headed over to the far wall of the palace. After finally getting through the large crowd of people, Aika held her back against the wall and let out a exhausted sigh. At first she thought of trying to find the other four girls to be married today, but it would be a difficult task not knowing where to start looking, so she dismissed the thought.

Pandora Yorik

"Pandora, sit with me."

"Yes, Kaiser Yorik."

"At ease. There is no need for formality right now, son."

"Yes....Father."

"I have something important to speak with you about, and it concerns the future of our country...."

Kaiser Constantine Yorik, Pandora's father, explained to him that he was to be married. The engagement was to take place at a masquerade ball, with several other princes and princess's as well.

"Father, the tradition of our people demands that only the strongest may mate. How am I to know that this woman with be a fit queen for us all?"

His father laughed. "Yes, that's true! That tradition has lasted us for thousands upon thousands of years. However, my son, you are too young to see that the times are changing. Long have we lived fiercely, conquering and taking anything that was near to us. We have become powerful, one of the most powerful countries in the world. However, our time of war and conquer is coming to an end."

"What do you mean to say? Are you saying that we are not powerful enough?"

"Foolish boy. I mean just the opposite. We have grown far too powerful, and if we continue this road then we will all perish."

".........."

"You think that's nonsense, do you? Go on, speak your mind, boy. "

".......I do not approve of this marriage. This...woman....has not been tested, nor is she one of our own."

"Very well, then consider it an order from your emperor."

"........Very well, Kaiser Yorik....."

Pandora, like he had done so before for at least a thousand times, thought over the conversation that he had had with his father. What was his father thinking? Was he trying to throw away thier traditions, the way that they had always done things? He stood just outside of the training grounds as he pondered this. Blue, red, and green fire from various war magicks lit the air in the distance like fireworks, even though it was plainly daylight. Watching this, knowing the younger soldiers were training, only made him feel even more dread for what was to come....

"Herr Yorik!"

Pandora was jerked out of his reverie to see his father astride a war horse, smiling down at him.

"There you are! The messengers couldn't find you, so I decided to come look for you myself. You should be ashamed!" Constantine Yorik exclaimed jokingly, scratching at his rather large beard as he did so. "I see you've finally gotten dressed and watnot. Why aren't you on your way to the party? Need a ride?"

"No." There was no way in hell Pandora would take a ride from his father. There had been way too many times that he had almost died....but that story was for another day. Currently, his father was giving him that creepy smile he always did before he sent someone to the torture chambers. "I....wanted to request that I may be authorized to call a hellhound. For....transportation." More like use it to burn down the 'engagement.' "So...I could go...'in style'" Whatever that meant.

His father, for whatever reason, laughed heartily. "Your request is accepted! You are authorized to use your magic as you wish, for the remainder of the evening! Now get going, before I whip you!" His father said the last part jokingly, but for some reason it didn't really feel that way....

Without any further ado, Pandora put his hands together, bowed his head, and closed his eyes. He began to chant roughly, his voice sounding almost like it wasn't his own.

Komm, sage ich dir
Bediensteten der Cerberus
Beachten Sie meinen Anruf
Kreaturen der Hölle
Komm zu mir
Bis entlassung
Ich bin dein Meister

Once finished, Pandora's hellhound clawed itself up and out of the ground, like some kind of dog-zombie. Viktor walked up to it and got on its back, holding on to the spikes for balance.
"Hyah!" The beast rushed forward as Viktor lightly tapped it's sides. He didn't bother yelling back a farewell to his father.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally, after hours of riding, Viktor made it to the ball. He rode the hellhound straight up to the main hall, even passing through the front doors with it. He stopped and got off just before the ballroom. His mask, coupled with the sight of the hellhound, made him look creepy and fearsome. That was alright with Pandora. He wasn't planning to make any friends tonight.
Pandora waved his hand in an outward motion, and the hellhound dispered into a harmless red fire and quickly faded away. The pawprints left behind faded away as well, leaving no trace of the beast's existence.
The sound of trumpets blew through the main hall and then there was a loud voice. "As you all know, the 5 princes have all turned 18, and at age 18 they all have to get engaged. We are now going to announce who they will be getting engaged to, will the 5 princes all come to the middle of the room along with the girls who have their names called?"
The man who had made the announcement pulled out a scroll and then opened it and started to read the names listed on the paper.
"Rave Heartnet, Aika Kagamine, Shinku Haraku, Evania Sylbr, and Aria Syviis. Once all the 5 princes and the 5 girls have came to the middle of the room we will announce who is getting engaged to who."
Shinku Haraku
Shinku looked up from her hands as she heard the announcement and her name being called. I guess it's time to figure out who I'll be spending the rest of my life with... she thought as she started walking to the middle of the room. No one else was heading towards the middle of the room yet, and Shinku wondered where the others were as she was walked towards the middle of the room. As she went, she kept looking down at the white cross necklace around her neck, as if she was hoping that it would all of a sudden somehow get her out of here.
After getting past the big crowd of people gathering around the middle of the room, Shinku reached the middle. Once she had gotten there, she sighed and hoped the others would get to the middle soon so she wouldn't have to be the only one with all the eyes on her.
'Oh no. Well, maybe you'll make it if you don't trip this time.' "Ugh." Evania sighed, finishing off her glass of water aand taking several deep breaths before attempting to get up from her chair. After spending the next few moments untangling her dress form the thing, she rose gracefully. Standing there, she felt like a paralyzed idiot. 'Move already! It's time to see who you're going to spend the rest of your life with... ha! Let's just hope that he's not an egomaniacle ass.' Evania knew she would never use such language unless alone... but her head was free range. And so, gripping her necklace until her hand began to ache, she stepped forward and joined a stranger wearing a beautiful black mask, painfully aware thta this night would go a long way to deciding her fate.
Kail Levontes
Kail was still standing at the top of the staircase when he heard the announcement echo throughout the room. It was time for the main event, his engagement. Lorna, his little sister, walked back over to him, tugging his pants with a cheeky smile, "Time to give momma her gwandbabies, wight?" She asked innocently, her tiny finger placed on her lip as she peered up at her big brother. Kail blinked a few times, being completely caught off guard. His mother must have been going on about grandchildren in front of Lorna all night, getting thoughts in her head. He rolled his eyes at the thought and knelt down in front of his sister, placing his hand on her tiny head. "Er....No, Lorna..that won't be for a long time...I think you're a little young to be an Aunt just yet." He chuckled and scooped her up, taking a few steps to where his mother Lyvian stood with her fuzzy blue hand fan covering half her face, looking a little sheepish.
He handed Lorna over to his Mother and kissed her head, then turned to Lyvian, "Do try to keep the talk of my future children on the down low Mother, because it won't be happening for quite some time." He lifted an eyebrow at her, as if challenging her to argue about it. Lyvian's eyes narrowed, but she remained silent and flipped her fan shut. "We'll see about that, but now's not the time. Get going!" She jabbed Kail towards the steps using the tip of her fan, pushing him to face his last few moments as a single Male. Kail took a deep breath and straightened his jacket, holding his head high as he descended the staircase. He towered over the sea of men and women dressed in suits glittering ball gowns. They parted as he passed, some looking wide-eyed at the sheer size of the Prince, some looking quite impressed, others giving him slight looks of disgust as they surveyed what he was wearing. He heard whispers about his scars, and his brilliant golden eyes. He was quite the sight to take in, and being 6'4" he was hard to miss, and people weren't afraid to gossip, even with him being a Prince. But it didn't bother Kail at all, he found it quite amusing.
But Kail disregarded any of the looks, for he was focused on the two girls who were standing in the middle of the room as he emerged from the crowd. He was the first prince to arrive, and stood on the opposite side of where the girls were. He smiled a nodded at both of them, a simple and polite way to greet them in a formal way. They were both quite beautiful, and now that he noticed, they stood out from the rest of the crowd. It was quite refreshing. All the girls he normally met and saw at Balls and parties were all the same, cloned in style and personality. He hoped these girls were different. He could hear whispers all around them, and couldn't help but glance around to see who else was entering the little group forming in the middle of the room.
Rave "Eagle Eye" Heartnet
The sparkling water filled wine glass began to crack under the pressure of Rave's fist as she slowly squeezed it until it shattered into diamond like pieces and clicked on the floor like little wind chims, when the man announce for the five girls and princes to come into the very center of the room. The three guys that were buzzing around her took a step back when the glass hardly cut into her dripping wet hand. No injury on her hand was probably due to years as a blacksmith and fighting. "Hey, what's you're problem?" The little ring leader of the trio asked while grabbing Rave's shoulder. She let out a grunt and shot a glare at him. "I tried to tell you to buzz off," she replied before punching him in the nose. A loud crack came from the contact of the idiotic noble's nose and her fist as bloof flooded out his nose. While the guy was kicking and screaming bloody murder and holding his broken, bleeding nose, Rave regretfully made her way to the center of the ball room where two girls and a prince were already standing.
Well, at least she knew two of the other four girls. Hopfully 'her prince' would see that she wasn't cut out for royality and maybe give her directions of the safest routin outta here and back home. Mutters quickly rose as people finally started to noticed that she was making her way to the announcer along with the other girls and the damn princes. Some were saying how she could be one of the future princesses from her eariler anti-social and glaring behavior, while others thought she was a brute from punching that noble's son in the nose. If she has any luck today, the princes would over hear and not pick her. If they can't pick out their birde-to-be, then hopefully they wouldn't want a crude brute of a girl as a future wife and send her packing. Rave stood next to a girl with pale purple hair, waiting for this part to be over and done with.
Rainier Caligula de Alicante
"Rave Heartnet, Aika Mochika Kagamine, Shinku Haraku, Evania Sylbr, and Aria Adonia Calista Syviis. Once all the 5 princes and the 5 girls have came to the middle of the room we will announce who is getting engaged to who." Though the names meant nothing to Rain, the simple fact of the announcement sent fingers of horror scraping across his skin. Some... girl? Who he'd just have to submit to marriage to? Of course he would, there was no question of it, but the entire episode just seemed so frighteningly sudden. As though they thought if anyone was given room to breathe, he or she would immediately use it to bolt. Something Rain would never do.
The birds swirled around him, looking for the princes hiding in the throng. Seeking the princesses-to-be, who would marry the beloveds of different countries for happily ever after and children until their wombs exploded. Not that the mass thought that far. No, their minds pecked and plucked, seeking the shiny bits of diamond amid the mica-strewn ballroom. All of these people dressed up to look like princes and princesses, but only ten fit the bill. Perhaps more, if families arrived. His certainly hadn't.
Though it appeared someone here was supported by the younger set. A soft smile crept up behind Rainier's mask at the sight of the little girl clinging so staunchly, for whatever reason, to her older brother. He would never act on the impulse, but he wished he could protect her and those like her from the world. Children didn't need to be sullied. Not when they could fly free without fear.
Measured, almost female or feline steps took Rain weaving in between the gawking crowd, the perfect combination of poise and respect as he neither yielded nor forced others to move. It had taken years to master. But the art of moving in a crowd could be essential to a royal, and he proved no exception. Rather, the challenge to Rain was slight as he took his place beside an admittedly obnoxiously taller prince he had never encountered before in his life. Critically, Rain looked across at the girls. They were fine, he supposed, though one looked as though she might kill someone at any moment and the other bore rabbit ears. Well. This would be... Perhaps they would prove more refined than they appeared.
Aika Mochika Kagamine
Aika watched as the other guests converesed and danced with each other; she longed for someone to talk to, just someone she could hopefully tell how she feels right now. Normally her mother took hold of that task, but she was all alone here. Well not literally since she was surronded by people, people that were strangers to her and will most likely stay that way.
Eventually, the thought of when they would announce the engagements came to mind. Aika couldn't help but wonder if they were going to do it soon; it was exciting to be at a ball surrounded by nobility, but the atmosphere she wasn't used to. 'I've never even seen or heard anything about the princes before a few days ago... I wonder what they're like.'
Almost as if to answer her question the sound of trumpets filled the room, all attention turned to a man standing above everyone; it seemed the main event would finally be starting. The man announced for the princes to all gather in center of the room along with the five girls to be engaged to them; he started to read off names from a list. "Rave Heartnet, Aika Kagamine, Shinku Haraku, Evania Sylbr, and Aria Syviis..." The sound of hearing her name being called out made her heart pound against her chest at an unhealthy rate. She watched as the guests all cleared the middle of the room for them to gather, she sighed and slowly moved her feet across the sea of people to the center.
She arrived to find three other girls and two princes already at the floor. Aika too one glance at a white haired girl who didn't look happy to be here at all; Aika dropped her shoulders in a sigh, "Feels like I'm about to be judged or something..." She said aloud noting at the countless stares from the other guests and standing in the middle of the large hall. Feeling a little awkward about the whispers and looks about her ears, they drooped in slight depression. She couldn't understand why, when she moved through the crowd before she saw a few other Esperos and some from her clan as well. Her eyes traveled to the floor, "Please...can we get this over with?"
Halo
'This tux... this tux is going to kill me.'
Halo pulled at the noose of the tie around his neck, what could be seen of his face grimacing in discomfort. This was such a pain. He had never been a fan of tuxedos, but to wear one that wasn't even comfortable to wear... torture, sheer torture. 'You know what? No. I can't take this anymore. I'm loosening up a bit.' Even his father's anger would be unable to prevent Halo from doing what he was about to do.
"First things first. I have to find a bathroom or something," the white-haired angel muttered under his breath, letting out a long sigh. He semi-consciously reached out and grabbed the arm of a female patron's arm as she passed by, hoping to receive some help.
"Excuse me," Halo spoke, giving her a shy smile. "I apologize for interrupting you, but I was wondering if you could point me to the direction of the bathroom?"
The woman paused, a bright look in her eyes. She was quite attractive, with emerald green eyes and scarlet hair. The red dress looked brilliant on her. But of course, he realized none of this. At the moment the only thing he was worried about was getting to a bathroom so that he could make himself more comfortable.
"It's right by the door," she said, giving him a nod. Thankfully, she didn't seem to mind that he had interrupted her. "Thank you," he responded, then turned and walked back the way he had came, towards the door.
Walking through this crowd was not as easy as it looked. People were pushing and shoving all around for no apparent reason; or at least, it seemed to be that way. But wasn't this supposed to be a formal dance? Why would people be shoving each other? Maybe Halo was just clumsy or something.
Once in the bathroom, the prince walked over to a mirror, intent on loosening the tie. He managed to undo the tie, and he draped it around is neck in a careless fashion. Halo's hands quickly unbuttoned the black coat of his suit, and he also unbuttoned a few of the buttons on his white shirt. 'I'll untuck it as well,' he decided. Tucked shirts always bothered him for no apparent reason. They always seemed to be too stiff and proper for him. While he was at it he fixed the collar of his shirt. Now his outfit looked like this. (http://s743.photobucket.com/albums/xx75 ... t=mjkl.jpg)
"...The five princes, now at the age of eighteen, must be married."
The voice of the announcer rang through the air as Halo exited the bathroom. He was immediately met with stares and mutters from all around the room. Some looked impressed, as if they thought that he was daring for showing up like this. Others looked disgusted, as though he were a filthy peasant. However, no one expected to walk up to the center of the room where the others stood. Eyes followed him, some disbelieving and others admiring. His outfit definitely gave him a laid-back impression; hands in his pockets, slouching, tie slung around his neck, collar up... Yup. That was basically Halo.
'I wonder who I'm going to be marrying,' Halo thought as he went to stand with the princes. Eh, not that he really cared. As long as he could live life as he wanted, he was happy to marry whomever. Hopefully the two people would get along well, at least. Halo had never really thought about love. He had never experienced it, nor did he plan to anytime soon. He cocked his eyebrow curiously as he saw another prince walking gracefully towards the princes. 'Wow. He's definitely a noble,' Halo thought admiringly. Yes, he did not think bad thoughts about anyone, even if they were being show-offs. The other prince that was there seemed to be freakishly tall. Intimidatingly tall. Meh. Ah well, that didn't bother Halo either. It is actually really hard to intimidate him. With a sigh, Halo stood and waited for the others to gather in the center of the room. 'I hope that I can leave soon.
[[Sorry, guys. I'd make this longer but I'm very rushed right now.]]
Aria Adonia Calista Syviis
Aria had been listening. How could she not when there were people not too far from her that had been gossiping about her? She smirked slightly, while eyeing the gossipers – they weren’t anything to look at. So what did she care? Admittedly, she did care, but the female would rather die than show it. If things took a turn for being nasty, though, she’d be sure to curse them. Her mind was already swirling with Haiku’s for possible situations.
Taking a drink from her glass, she handed the empty water off to a waiter who came around and took it off her hands. Her eyes focused on the group in her immediate area.
There were the girls who figured they could chit-chat about anybody. She paid them no mind, and she would continue to pay them no mind until such time as they said something about her family in particular. Then, there was a girl who had tripped on her dress. Aria felt a bit bad for the girl, but she was already back on her feet and off again by the time she could really think about the situation. There was also another female towards the other end of the drink table. Aria didn’t have much time to speculate as to who that was, before she heard the announcement for the girls who were to be engaged to join on the floor with the princes – that was where they were to be announced as engaged...
Aria made her way through the crowd, looks thrown in her direction once more, before joining the already growing group of males and females in the center of the room. She was able to get a good look at the girls to be married off, and recognized two of them. She gave them a faint smile, before turning her head to give the princes a once-over. They weren’t bad looking, she figured. But that couldn’t account for personality. Tucking some of her fiery red hair behind her ear, she fitted a smile to her face all the same, her hands clasping in front of her in her own little slightly nervous habit. After a few moments of that, she took a few deep breaths, before squaring her shoulders, and slipping the ever-famous half-smirk back onto her face. She would admit it though; she was starting to get really excited, and rather nervous at the same time.
Pandora Yorik
As he heard the trumpeting and the announcement for all the princes and princesses-to-be to go to the center of the ballroom, his face darkened considerably. Not only was he getting frivolously engaged, but it was going to be shouted out to the entirety of the castle. How.... embarrassing. Somehow, he had thought that all of this was going to be done quietly. Silently, he cursed his father.
I suppose I should get this over with....knowing my father, he probably picked the most incompatible woman to be my....wife.... At the thought of "wife," he inwardly shivered. He didn't even speak with most girls, so the whole 'courting' business was practically nonexistent to him. I think I'd rather eat a hellhound.
Pandora's secret weakness: girls scared him. The war mage, who has seen hell and has danced with death more times than he could count, was terrified.
Of course, however, there was no way he would ever admit that. He wasn't going to admit, that as he strode powerfully to the center of the ballroom, that his hands were shaking. He wasn't going to admit that as he stood there, waiting for that dreadful announcement, that he was staring over at the girls and trying to gauge which one his father had picked.
Hiro Feng
Guess what son, you're getting married!
Wow, thanks dad! Best birthday present ever!
That's right son. Glad you like it.
Hiro was pretty sure that this was the kind of conversation that his father had had in his head when he had sent him off to the ball. What else could have explained the look of supreme bliss on his face? That cocky, mischevious smile, that sparkle in his eyes? No, his father had definately had known.
Not that Hiro had a problem with it, he just wished that his father had told him before he went to the ball. So, here he was, standing in the middle of the ballroom, right when the announcer annouced the people to go the middle of the room. Hiro could imagine his father laughing at the look on his face, if he could see it. His face was masked by a simple silver mask, accompanied by a simpe black suit. Black wasn't really his color, but when his father had sent him off to the ball, his reasoning for it had been for Hiro to sing. Hiro had thought that he was here on business, not for pleasure.
Well, I suppose you could call it for business... Hiro thought to himself as he waited to hear who his future wife would be.
