"I... Ok."

Demetri immediately nodded after the girl finally chose to submit, a wise choice in fact. He didn't want to see her die so early, she had a whole life ahead of her.. a promising one if she'd allow him more trust. He could teach her so many things; Art, Literature, Fashion.. She would be a very dangerous woman when she grew up if she allowed Demetri to take her under his wing... which he doubted would happen any time soon based on her reaction to him mere minutes ago. A man can dream though, right? He almost considered this girl to be the daughter he'd always wanted, but never got the chance to have,

"Thank you, Camilla... I will be as quick and as gentle as possible.." He stated with kindness. He didn't want her hand to become grotesque simply because she didn't trust him. Within less time than it took to blink an eye, Demetri had bandages and a few pieces of thin wood in his hands. It wasn't very clear when he'd retrieved them, but they weren't there a fraction of a second before. He gently took her injured hand into his own, his mouth pursing a bit at the wound. It wasn't going to be fun to treat the broken and dislocated bones, but he could do it. Besides, Demetri doubted that the child would feel keen on drinking his blood to heal the wound so early in the game, so he'd settle with human methods for now..

Though despite knowing this, he couldn't help but despise this method. His blood would have been far less painful and exponentially quicker. She'd struggle with this wound for some time... Humans were so fragile, yet he envied them for many things.. Every moment with Camilla reminded him of how he wished for a child of his own. He'd nearly forgotten the miscarriage his first love had when he was a young man.. He couldn't even remember her face, but the pain of losing his child, he remembered that as if it happened yesterday. He'd bloodied his fists so badly that they were almost unrecognizable.

"This won't feel pleasant. You can grip my shoulder if you must." He informed her in a calm tone, and knelt down before her. He took a deep breath, seeing as this process would take a fair deal of time to complete, not to mention the fact that he wasn't sure how she'd respond to the pain. Seeing as all the wounds he'd ever dealt with as a human were male, Demetri had little experience with female pain tolerance... He'd never doctored up a woman before, typically he fed them his blood to heal them... This would be an entirely new experience for the red headed vampire, which was a rare occurrence indeed, considering his age, curiosity, and his old habit of constantly traveling all across Europe, "Okay.. one.. two... three..." at the word 'three' Demetri popped the bone of her finger back into place, putting a piece of wood below the finger and above it before tightly wrapping it with bandages. He continued this process until all her afflicted fingers were dealt with. He stood shortly after, a small smile on his face as he reach over and caressed her hair as softly as he could possibly manage, "My kind....we do have horrible tendencies, but not all of us are the monsters children hear about as bedtime stories..." He stated to Camilla, then looked to his window. Tonight seemed like enough excitement, but there was still more they needed to do. He'd ask Reiji if they could rave the town tomorrow night, directly after dinner. This night was nearly over, and everyone would need to rest.

"Shall I escort you to your room? I'd hate for Reiji to catch you out and about on your own.. I think it would be wise to retire for the night. Tomorrow night we will be preparing for Saint Valentines Day... so we'll all be going out on the town." He informed Camilla, before walking her out of his room and to her own, no longer waiting for permission. He truly did not trust Reiji around her, and he'd do anything he could to protect this girl....he already failed one.

Somewhere along the lines of their conversation, Castiel asked for her to leave his presence for the night. She wasn't quite sure exactly when it happened, mostly due to the severity of their conversation. She had other parts of the conversation on her mind and wasn't too concerned with the fact she was asked to leave. In fact, she never even made it to her room. She sat outside in the hall. She couldn't believe this. Suddenly she was Castiel's maid, he was confiding in her, and Bishop had a new servant. Alice was dead, Katerina was dead, Shuu, Angelo and Olivia.. Things were so different from last year that nothing felt real. Her entire body was numb as she sat on the stone floor, staring up at the ceiling. How was she supposed to move on like this?

Alice still plagued her mind... Most times she would just catch glimpses of her, but occasionally her sister would actually talk to her... She wasn't sure if she was going mad or if it was truly the ghost of her deceased sister, but either way, this being was truly angry with her. Nothing that this 'Alice' had to say to Anise was kind... In fact, she even dared Anise on several occasions to end her own life. Every day was a struggle, keeping this information secret.. Eventually, someone would figure it out and they'd probably kill her.. Insanity was an incurable disease... anyone plagued with it became a danger to all those around them..

She suddenly felt the urge to run away. Though she doubted she would get too far. She probably wouldn't even make it off the Santiago's estate, considering how fast the vampires of this house were. Though now she understood how Alice felt. Suddenly this mansion was suffocating... Despite it's luxurious size, she felt as if she were trapped inside of a small cage. She was almost panicking.. Her eyes landed on Bishop's bedroom door, then Reiji's and finally Castiel's. None of them would allow her to leave, and yet her gut wanted to test that theory.... She had nowhere to go, yet she wanted to try anyhow... Or perhaps she did...? Maybe Derrick hadn't married yet? Perhaps he would take her in? That thought alone made the thought of escape tempting enough..

Now that she thought about it, Castiel had yet to feed from her. She would probably have to continue Tanzy's method by putting it in the lord's food... seeing as he would die without sustenance. She had to admit that it was a lot safer than Bishop's method, but she also wasn't used to it. Despite being relieved that she wouldn't have to be on guard wondering when the next time she would be bitten would be... but the sudden introduction of this difference was a bit unsettling. Being bitten was one of the only things that remained the same in her life, regardless of how unusual it was... Now that was gone too, it felt like nothing was the same anymore. She felt.... absolutely helpless. She knew she needed to leave this situation, especially since having a man bite her neck and drink her blood was the last bit of stability left in her life. That was definitely not a healthy routine... She had to be mental to accept that as the norm. She was definitely losing her mind.

Somehow, she found herself at his door, instead of her own. She didn't even realize she'd gotten up until after she'd already knocked. She felt like fleeing the scene, and immediately she spun around on her feet to do just that, "M-my mistake..." she called in, doing her best to leave before Bishop made it to the door. She wasn't prepared to face him, what would she say? She had no explanation for why she ended up at his door, especially at this hour, at which both of them should be sleeping.

Bishop could practically feel the butler crumbling before him, eyes watching the man as he left for the time being. Stupid human. The redhead rolled his eyes as he listened to the footsteps retreat from his quarters, mind wandering as he idly wondered what the poor unfortunate human was thinking. He bet Jason regretted ever accepting the position. Even if he did though, there was no turning back, and Bishop would not let the human be a liability, regardless of whose butler he was. So long as Jason understood how serious Bishop was...and the legitimacy of his threats, he'd be able to at least tolerate the human's presence.

"Unfortunate sap. I already have a perfectly fine human plaything." Bishop muttered to himself. He was not adverse to men, but women were more likely to catch his tastes. As fine a specimen as Jason was, he was not the gentle and skittish Anise.

Once Bishop could no longer sense the butler, the red head sighed and checked himself in the mirror, ensuring no blood was on his person or his attire. After all, Demetri's blood lust was a force to be reckoned with, and he had no desire to trigger it accidentally no matter how unlikely a simple bloodstain would be to do so. As expected, he was clean, and Bishop turned to leave his quarters and pay his twin a visit.

As soon as his hand touched the door handle, Bishop caught a far more delicious scent than his meal, in the form of his maid. What was his little mouse doing up and about? Her footsteps stopped outside his door to his surprise, the male fighting a chuckle as he heard her soft dulcet tone murmur a mistake. Her mistake was a welcome enough one for him.

As soon as her voice trailed off, the door was pulled open to reveal the red headed vampire noble, brow arched in bemusement. His strong hand took Anise's wrist before she could retreat, careful not to grip too hard and injure the young woman. Bishop gave her an appraising look, the corner of his lip twitching with the hint of a smirk.

"What might you be up to at this hour my Anise? Why run away before you accomplish whatever it is you came to me for?" Bishop mused softly, eyes riveted on the human before him.

The voice that spoke was kinder and warmer than she expected from a monster. But again, they seemed quite normal when she first met them, and she wasn't dropping her guard around the family anytime soon. Who knows that it might be Ā a tactic of some sort. She opened her tightly shut eyes when nothing happened, and seeing the pieces of wood and bandages in Demetri's hands she was tempted to shut them again. What was he actually going to do to her hand? So far, she was able to avoid injuries of broken bones, in fact, this was one of the more serious ones she encountered. On the streets, when you were never safe, injuries are a thing that you must avoid, if not hide from view. It would only prove to be your downfall in the end.

She flinched on instinct as she felt her hand gently being taken into his, stopping herself from withdrawing it. It was not because it hurt, but she did not respond to touch well at all. People had only touched her on ill intent, whether to twist her arm behind her back or to injure her in some way, and she disliked it immensely. She took a sharp intake of breath as the man knelt down before her, preparing herself for the worst.Ā

"This won't feel pleasant. You can grip my shoulder if you must."
Of course it wouldn't. Camilla had dealt with too many situations to know that popping a bone into place would probably be very painful. When she was younger and still staying in the orphanage, a boy had dislocated his shoulder. His cries of pain when they tried to pull it back into place still haunted her worst nightmares. She never once wondered if he was overreacting to the pain, and even if he was she doubts that she would care. The pain would be sharp, but not unbearable, at least she hoped so. Even if it was unbearable, all hell would freeze over before she touched the man without being forced to. She couldn't name a person she was afraid of more than him and his kind in her life up to now, and it would take a lot for them to earn her trust again.Ā

"Okay.. one.. two... three..."
The count down ended with her hardly noticing, and before she knew it her finger was in place and held together with pieces of wood so it was secured. The pain wasn't too bad, like before, but she still bit her lip hard, forcing air through her teeth with a hiss of pain. The pain soon faded into a dull sensation afterward however, and after all her fingers were dealt with she felt pretty much normal. Sure, she couldn't bend them as they were straightened by the wood pieces, but she felt fine otherwise. She was testing them out, moving them gingerly to see how they turned out when she felt an odd sensation on the top of her head.

It wasn't unpleasant, just unusual, and she could feel her whole body grow stiff as she looked up at the redhead, perplexed by his actions. What was he doing, exactly? It hand being such a long time since someone touched her in an affectionate manner before, the young girl could hardly comprehend the meaning of that action. Still, it didn't seem like any ill intent was meant in that movement, so she accepted it begrudgingly.

"My kind....we do have horrible tendencies, but not all of us are the monsters children hear about as bedtime stories..."
He spoke to her, looking to the window. She could feel her cheeks grow hot when she reslized the man had almost read her mind, and prayed fervently that the blush was unnoticeable. She would probably seem childish thinking that, and that was the last thing she wanted anyone to assume about her.Ā

"Shall I escort you to your room? I'd hate for Reiji to catch you out and about on your own.. I think it would be wise to retire for the night.Ā Tomorrow nightĀ we will be preparing for Saint Valentines Day... so we'll all be going out on the town."
There was actually a Saint Valentine's Day? She searched her memory for it, and realized that it was the time where she would find lots of chocolate in sweet shops, all wrapped up nicely and tied with a pretty ribbon. She could never understand the meaning of packaging it that way; it still tasted the same anyhow. And preparing for it? Her face fell once again as she thought of the ridiculous frilly dresses she had seen the giggling ladies wear from her hiding place in the alleys. Please, not those dresses. She hardly kept up with the current maid outfits, and more frills just sounded like torture to her. However did they expect one to walk in those cloth atrocities? Not to mention heels, her worst enemy.Ā

Before she could respond in any way, he was already guiding her out of his room and into her own, when she stifled a gasp as she thought of the dark. She was still unsure whether the room contained candles, but sleeping in the dark room was... She didn't even want to think about it. She looked up once again, her eyes filled with fear and panick but this time she wasn't thinking of hiding. Despite all the dangerous situations she had been through, she never forgot her matches. Darkness was forever her worst fear, probably one of the more serious ones in her life. "I... I'm sorry, do you have candles?" She was showing a side rather unlike herself, a side more of her age than anything else. In the face of fear, her cold mask was peeling away, revealing a more vulnerable girl underneath. However, that side didn't last long.

As what she had just done sank into her, her cheeks immediately flushed again, causing her to stammer in an effort to cover what she deemed as a mistake up. "I...I mean, it's not like I'm afraid of the dark or anything!" Her hands clapped abouve her mouth, realizing what she had done, and she stayed silent, glaring at the man. This day was officially the worst ever day of her life.

Locked in, Buried under my skin
Riding on the whispers, Restless in the wind
Hunted, I can feel it coming
Keep me under cover in what could of been..

"Unnerving?"

She nodded her head, very embarrassed. She never wanted to admit this much, but she really didn't have a choice at this point, he would be able to tell if she lied and that would only anger him...

"Well regardless, know that I have no intention of harming you. As for the prick, you tell me if he does anything. You may be on loan to Castiel, but no one else is allowed to touch what is mine."

.....He didn't understand me at all...... Anise would have slapped her hand over her face in disbelief, but at the moment she was grateful for his naivety. She was glad for once that she was being misunderstood. If he would have realized she didn't mean bodily harm, this situation would have been a lot more complicated. She could tell that he wasn't entirely satisfied with her answers, but the mention of Reiji seemed to get his mind off of the details she was hiding from him. She felt bad, but she honestly did not intend to ever admit what he was trying to interrogate out of her. She wasn't even sure, but if she admitted it out loud it would breathe life and that door would never be closed again. She had to think logically, she would be working here for the rest of her life.. Kat and Demetri didn't fair well, she didn't plan on allowing herself to become romantic.. As long as they kept a physical distance it would be easy.

"Stupid git. Very well, but he cannot fault me for escorting you to your quarters. Come."

Escort? Well, at least he was allowing her to retire. It meant she was off the hook and that he was finally satisfied with her answers enough to release her. He walked off in a nonchalant manner and she followed from a comfortable distance behind. It wasn't a very long walk, yet something seemed to bother Bishop still. She tilted her head at this, a curious expression on her face. Though the words that came next were highly unexpected.

"A smile is much more suited to you....not the lost and wary gaze in your eyes."

Her eyes widened as the words passed through her ears, completely shocked. In an entire year of service she never got a single comment from Bishop like this, it was unexpected and completely uncharacteristic.... yet it wasn't entirely unwelcome. Were his ears red? Was he seriously kind of embarrassed? A giggle escaped her lips despite her better judgement and she smiled up at him, a crimson blush still decorating her cheeks, but her mood was much brighter, "Thank you, my Lord. I will do my best to smile more... It just feels impossible to do at times..." Although her words were sad, her expression was still relatively happy. She gave a short curtsy before turning to open the door to her quarters. It was so early that glimmers of light bled through the curtains, meaning she wouldn't get more than a few hours of sleep, but it also meant she wouldn't need a candle to see, "Goodnight, my Lord." With that she retreated to her room and calmly shut the door. It wasn't until the door shut that she allowed herself to freak out. She placed her hand against her chest, her heart racing from his words and she could feel butterflies in her stomach. She had to get ahold of herself or she'd end up falling for Bishop, especially if he kept tossing her kind words and gentlemanly gestures. Then she saw Alice laying on her bed, brushing her eyes in disbelief.

"You're dead, this isn't happening. Why do I still see you!?" She snapped in disbelief. She was going mad seeing her deceased twin every day, especially since everything the girl had to say was negative and degrading, "You're not there!" She was almost panicking at this point.

"Is that any way to speak to your sister? You're practically throwing yourself on the enemy... When is the wedding?" Alice sneered at Anise in disgust, throwing herself from the bed to circle the living sibling. The look on her face was cruel and angry. This happened every day, the words were different but the expression was always the same, "You're repulsive, maybe you should have died instead."

Immediately a tear streamed down Anise's face. She approached her bed and sat down, cupping her ears with her hands and she attempted to ignore the shouts of Alice. Her twin was not truly there, but it felt real enough to drive Anise crazy. Alice made her work out every day until her arms felt like falling off.. She made her eat less and she also kept her up most of the day... It felt like torture. Sure she was gaining muscle from it, but she also was losing weight and was very tired.

"I... I'm sorry, do you have candles?"

The red haired man nearly chuckled at Camilla's response, but withheld his amusement for her benefit. She didn't seem comfortable expressing her fears so he refused to make a spectacle of them, regardless of how cute she was like this. He actually enjoyed this side of her. He somewhat felt like a parent when she chose to reveal tidbits of vulnerability to him. Was this Reiji's intention all along? Her presence warmed his heart and did well to fill most of the aching gap that Angelo and Katerina left behind.. He had to admit that Reiji was a sneaky bastard, brilliant, but also very sneaky.

"I...I mean, it's not like I'm afraid of the dark or anything!"

"Why not? The dark is full of terrifying things.. Werewolves, Rogue Vampires.. Witches... I wouldn't blame you for being scared.. If I weren't a vampire, I would definitely be scared too." He replied in a gentle and reassuring tone. He took a candle from the corridor's wall, seeing as he was taller than her by a great deal and did not have a candle on demand. He entered her quarters, lighting all of the candles before ushering for her to follow him inside. The room was now well lit, so he felt there was no further issue. Though after seeing her so worried, he had to stick around for a moment, "You're mostly here for my company, so don't fret over small things like this." Demetri stated in a friendly and smooth tone. He would probably spend his free time educating Camilla seeing as she did not grow up with the same childhood as he did. Mathematics, Ballroom dancing, Etiquette, Tailoring, even an instrument if she was curious and wiling.

He gave a polite bow, leaving Camilla to herself. She wouldn't get a lot of sleep seeing as he had midday plans for everyone. Though a smile crossed his face. He came out just in time to witness Anise flee to her room and overhear Bishop's words.

"A smile is much more suited to you....not the lost and wary gaze in your eyes."

He hung around until all was quiet and approached his twin, "I know who your Valentine is going to be." He nudged Bishop with a knowing smile. Demetri was always observing those around him.. He always had the most spare time on his hands seeing as his only tasks were to tend to their horses, his dog, and events, "How long have you two fancied each other? There is no mistaking it... You let her end Dante even though he killed our brother as well..." Then he smiled a bit thinking of Katerina. It had been over a year, yet he still wasn't entirely over the loss of her. Suddenly an interesting thought crossed his mind. He'd help Bishop realize his affections. Anise was a fighter, if anyone would survive it would be her and Tanzy. They survived the werewolves without even a scratch.. So, in the holiday spirit, Demetri decided he would play Cupid.

"When was the last time you were intimate with a woman, dear brother?" He inquired, quirking a curious red brow at his twin, emerald eyes sparkling with familiar mischief. Demetri loved aiding others in romance, he was a bit of a meddler. One might ask how whores would help Bishop realize his feelings, but he knew his brother would decline if he truly loved the ebony haired maid, "We could rent a few concubines after the Saint Valentines festivities.. like the good old days if you like.. It's been too long since I last bedded a woman." Demetri sighed. Honestly it was the last thing on his mind, but he did not have a heartbeat to give his white lies away like a human's would. Would Bishop take the bait, or would he start to accept the situation that was slowly wrapping it's claws around his heart?

"If I remember correctly, Castiel said he nearly chose her as his own maid instead of yours... I also caught him appreciating her in the past as well as her appreciating our fair headed elder brother... I'd make a move, she is quite a lovely, innocent, young thing... If you did not hold claim I would have already approached the sweet little dove myself... But I respect your claim, Castiel does not remember our 'hands off' arrangement..." He was not taunting his brother, nor did he intend to make him angry, but he had to speak up. He didn't want to watch his twin miss out because his mind was too stubborn to notice his heart. Castiel was his brother as well, but Demetri's loyalty always rested in Bishop first and foremost.

"I merely wish to say that if you wait too long, you risk losing her to another... We may be immortal dear brother, but not indestructible. I would love for you to make more bonds, because if something were to happen to me... It would pain me to see you isolated.." He rubbed his brother's cheek lovingly with his thumb at these words, thinking back to Angelo for a moment. He never would have guessed he would lose his brother so quickly.. and Demetri had a a horrible feeling that it was only the beginning.

"I am going to let Reiji know that we should be leaving within three hours. We will have to tend to the horses. Less daylight the better. We will just have to be careful and stick to the shade as much as possible. If we don't make another daylight appearance the townsfolk will begin to gossip." The last thing they needed was a human revolt because the peasants discovered the Santiago family was the vampires that plagued their villages and also governed them as well. He went through great measures to keep their suspicions low.. especially after his blunder when Katerina was slaughtered. He still heard about the massacre from Reiji at times, "I don't think that Castiel is fit to travel so I will sneak a certain someone onto our carriage... As her prior lord it would fall upon you to pick out her dress along with Jason's suit." suddenly he noticed that Anise was speaking to someone. His own talking masked it before, but he caught a tidbit of the muffled sound and grew concerned. He did not sense a heartbeat other than her own on the other side of the door, Is she talking to herself in there or is someone else in her quarters?" he asked his brother in a concerned voice, seeing as Anise sounded distressed and he could almost taste her depression. Though Anise was not his maid, nor did he hold romantic feelings for her. He did not feel obligated to protect her, nor would he go out of his way to do so unless asked by Bishop directly. The long haired silently bid his temperamental twin farewell and strolled off to Reiji's bedroom door. Bishop would suffice if he chose to investigate, besides Demetri had other matters to attend to. He knocked twice before announcing his business, "I shall prepare the carriages. We must go to town and make our daytime appearance so the locals do not suspect us.. I will tell Mirabelle as well. I have arranged for Mira, Jane, Tanzy and yourself to ride in the Master of house carriage, while Jason, Bishop, Anise Camilla, and myself ride in the second. Castiel isn't well enough to travel so we'll take on Anise. I will see you off in three hours brother.. Please tell the little dove inside to dress in casual attire." With that he proceeded to his sister's door, not even considering to knock on Castiel's. He was not going to risk bringing Castiel around that many humans especially in daylight. Castiel was a danger to everyone.

"Mira, we are leaving for town to pick out our Saint Valentines attire, the ball is nearly here and we each need to make an appearance so the locals we govern do not suspect our true nature, I am going to tend to the horses and prepare them for our journey.. Then I am going to rest for an hour before setting them up to the carriages." He called into the door, not aware that Jane was with her, mostly because he wasn't trying to snoop. He did however notice that Reiji was not alone. The nervous heartbeat inside the room was too loud to ignore. Everyone seemed to pair off today, how romantic. Suddenly he got a mischievous idea, "Sister.. Would you like to assist me in a prank? For old time's sake? I never let you as children.. But we can remedy that now.. Let the little dove inside prepare for our journey.. She should dress casually and I need a moment with you in private." His tone was mischievous, and he made sure that Bishop would not be able to hear him. Demetri was so... evil at times. He just hoped that Reiji would not find out. If this plan worked as he wished, Bishop would surely kill him later.. Good thing Bishop was the strong one and Demetri was the quick one. Hopefully he was still faster than Bishop's aim.

Jane found she was surprised that she felt the need to tuck Mirabelle in. It was refreshing and brought what she had loved at home here, to the castle. It brought the feeling that they were close, even if they just met. She was surprised by what Mirabelle said about her family, but smiled after a moment. It was true she guessed. Jane had never thought of it that way, but it was nice to hear that she did have some things she didn't think she had at one point.

Jane found she was extremely surprised at the abilities the vampires had. She didn't like the word as it always made her think of demons, but these people... They weren't demons. She understood what Mirabelle meant, about breaking things, at least... She thought she did. They did break the skin, but was that really what she was referring to when she said break? Jane nodded slightly, as if trying to wait for confirmation of what she thought was the answer. "I think I understand what you mean," She stated, giving a small nod as she continued to think through what Mirabelle had said. She was slightly embarrassed that she was on such a different level from Mirabelle on the way she seemed to view the world, but tried not to show it. It wasn't something she was unused to anyway... Then again, she only had one other person in her life and he was older than her by five years, raising children that weren't his own and managing expenses as a youth too.

Jane felt Mirabelle's hand on her out, the coolness of the touch rather surprising. Jane looked down at Mirabelle, surprised the girl was claiming to want to answer Jane's questions right after she had been chastised for asking certain questions. She found she couldn't find words herself. "Belle... Ah, lady Belle, I think... I'm too tired to come up with the right questions right now, but I can stay until you do go to sleep if you'd like," Jane offered. She had done it for her brother many times, she could do it for Mirabelle, she did appear to be the kind of girl who would need it, if her age was actually the same as her looks. Jane couldn't imagine waking up to find that you were no longer able to age, to grow up further.

Jane knew what being alone was like when trying to fall asleep and knew it was not always something all people could handle, or wanted to handle, by themselves. Upon the mention of Saint Valentine's day, Jane found herself surprised she had forgotten. She used to think it was the best day, it gave an opportunity to feel like everyone was looking for a soul mate, giving the day a feeling of romance and sweetness that no other day could provide. Jane smiled at the memory of the sweets her brother bought for her when they were children, saving up his money to do so. She had tried to buy sweets last year and had to use the money instead to buy some medicine that didn't work. The memory turned bittersweet, causing her smile to waver slightly.

"That brother of yours, he's different, not in bad way of course, but... He is different," Jane admitted, finding her thoughts were now on the red head. He was not like the others in her life and he seemed to... spirited? Was that the word to describe him? "What do you mean for the most part?" Jane asked as she moved to blow out the candles in the room. "Never mind, that can wait until morning... Or evening rather... Go on, try to sleep, it'll... it'll do you good," Jane stated, yawning slightly before her last remark causing her to pause. She moved to sit beside Mirabelle, uncertainly reaching out a hand to move the girl's braid out from under her head, then looking to the curtained window again.

Jane heard a voice at the door and jumped, looking up and expecting someone to enter though they stayed out. She could tell from the voice it was Demetri, or perhaps his brother, but it was one of the twins for sure. "Ah... I can go if you'd like to go with him. I'd love to help him prepare the horses if you don't need me for anything else in a bit," Jane stated, her excitement at the possibility written across her face in her joy at the idea. She would love to go see horses at the moment, it would make her feel more at home too, hopefully.

She thought to what she had to wear into town. What did she have? She had one casual dress that was the nicest one she had, so she supposed that would have to do. She just hoped it wouldn't be under dressed or unsuitable. Jane stood, ready to do what Mirabelle might ask, wondered what her reaction to being unable to sleep would be.

ā€œYes, Demetri is quite something else. It would be worth it to get to know him too. All of them really. I know they put up strong fronts, and maybe my views are faltered from only meeting them last year, but as kids they were always such wonderful men. Father wouldn't have it any other way." A smile lightly played on her lips as she remembered what it was like to be children. Her thoughts wandered to what it would be like to find love and have children of her own. Would she even be able to add to this family? She supposed it didn't matter, considering it wasn't possible anyhow.

ā€œGo on, try to sleep, it'll... it'll do you good," Jane said. As she spoke of sleep, Mirabelle's smile fell and she stared up at the woman for a long moment. "You have no idea." Her lips barely formed a whisper, her eyes closing as she felt Jane situate her. It was a nice feeling, to be mothered again. Mirabelle would have argued to anyone that she didn't need to be taken care of - that she spent all this time taking care of herself and she didn't need help now, but the only person she would be fooling was herself.

The woman tried to relax into the pillow, her eyes closing while her entire body fought against sleep. She focused on the sound of Jane's heart and the sound of her breathing, praying that she could finally get a full days rest of her own. She prayed Jane would be her savior, but luck was never on her side. It was the knock at the door that filled her with more joy than she thought possible. How silly did she feel at the moment, but the vampire was out of bed and pulling to door open before Demetri could even finish what she was saying.

ā€œThis is about Bishop, I know it because you don't do anything without him, but I don't care. I will do anything if it means I don't have to go to sleep." Mirabelle's face was bright, the looming doom of nightmares quickly fading. She smiled a bright smile, and then looked over her shoulder to Jane before she looked back at Demetri.

ā€œBrother, would you please take Jane with you when you tend to the horses? Will you show her where they are and how we do it here? I believe that she will be a better match at caring for them than getting into Tanzy and Anise's way. Besides, we aren't messy beings and those two are more than capable of cleaning the house. It's better if we let Jane do it instead of hiring some stable boy. Besides, the last one was too..." Mira bit her lip as she tried to think of a word that fit the situation, "Suggestive? Is that the right term? Poor boy would have done anything a pretty lady asked of him..." Belle was careful at the words she used, and her gazed turned to a slight glare towards her older brother in warning as not to scare Jane. Mirabelle sure wasn't a saint, there probably wasn't a drop of innocence left in her, but she always kept to her word. Jane was safe.

ā€œAnyway, Jane, in my closet there should be something suitable for going out to the barn. We don't usually allow women out there considering he stables are a mans work, but there should be a few pairs of pants in there.ā€ Mirabelle looked to Demetri, wondering if he would rat her out to the head of the house, but she suspected that Rei already had to know. Their sessions never lasted long, and Mirabelle always went out the moment the sun set. It was always still light out when she went to ride, but never under direct rays and the time most would still be asleep. Besides, he always seemed to know everything.

ā€œWhat ever it is, I'll help you, but if Bishop tries to kill me it'll be on your head!ā€ Mirabelle did keep her voice low so that she wouldn't out her brother to his twin, but loud enough to make her point, even if she did have a big smile on her face.

"I...The thought h-had crossed my mind sire..."

Her words brought a smirk on his face, but his eyes revealed the offense he was feeling. He would never speak it or allow his facial expressions to reveal his emotions. Just because vampires felt heightened emotions didn't mean he had to openly express them. He noticed her embarrassment from her flushed cheeks, fast heartbeat and awkward body posture, and it only brought a quiet chuckle past his lips.

She admitted, feeling oddly guilty for the assumption that violating her was on his mind. It was however, deeply relieving to hear Reiji assure her that he wouldn't do such things to her. Glancing down at him, Tanzy held her legs tucked under her as she remained sitting upright beside the vampire, swallowing hard at the deeply personal and embarassing questions.

"I...I...It's t-t-true I've never l-lay with anyone before..."

He knew, but hearing her admit it was much sweeter than knowledge he obtained through his senses. Not to mention the timidness that accompanied her answer. She was absolutely delectable.

He watched as she leaned forward to unbutton his shirt as he had instructed, remaining perfectly still as she proceeded. He did not verbally taunt her, seeing as the act alone seemed to stir enough embarrassment from her already. Though having her this close gave him a very, very, mischievous idea. Maybe it was the moonlight, or perhaps the fact that he'd just fed, but he was feeling very... affectionate.

After she finished unbuttoning his shirt, Reiji tilted her chin up with his thumb so that their eyes met. His hand snaked it's way into her hair behind her head and he suddenly planted a soft kiss on her lips, more than a peck, but nothing too sexualized. He was a gentleman and had certain standards to uphold after all. After a moment or two he pulled away, smirking down at her, "That is my way of saying you are not leaving my service until the day that either you or I leave this world, do you understand or shall I do it again to remind you?" His tone was that of a spoiled child, but perhaps he was laying a different sort of claim? For now he was too stubborn and defensive to ever imagine another purpose other than amusement and business.. Though his fun and explanation was cut short when Demetri knocked on the door. It earned a frown from Reiji, but he listened to his brother. Valentine's Day? Demetri and his blasted parties...

"I shall prepare the carriages. Please tell the little dove inside to dress in casual attire."

"Of course, I will send Tanzy off to get ready immediately. Right after she helps me dress." He replied back to his brother who left in a rush to deliver the information to their other siblings no doubt. Then his eyes returned to Tanzy, a mischievous glimmer in them, "Pick out a nice but casual suit for me to wear out on the town..." He then stood in a less cluttered space and removed his shirt entirely. He wasn't going to make her put his pants on him, but she didn't know that so he could have fun for a little while.

The giggle was an unexpected, but oddly welcome sound to hear from the ebony haired maid. Even so, Bishop glance back at her as she did so, giving her a pointed look. One could almost hear a 'What are you laughing at?' just by the expression on his face. Despite the scowl presented, he didn't look legitimately angry- something more akin to a young boy caught doing something uncool or embarrassing when trying to look the part. Turning his gaze forward, Bishop chose not to comment on her laugh, mentally soothing himself with the knowledge that he got a promising result. Fine. He said it, and all fixed!

He nodded at Anise's words, face solemn for a moment at the unspoken understanding of the tragedy. He didn't doubt it was hard on her. Truthfully, he feared nothing more than losing his beloved twin. He didn't even want to imagine what her loss felt like. He never cared for the impetuous Alice, but he did genuinely feel sympathy for Anise.

His lips twitched in the beginning of a smile as he regarded her flushed cheeks and her pleasing answer. "Of course it isn't possible all the time. But still, it doesn't change the fact. Bishop commented, nodding in a simple gesture of farewell as the door closed respectfully in his face. "Good night."

Watching her door for a few seconds longer, the redhead finally turned to head back to his and his twin's rooms, only for the twin in question to approach. The nudge earned a quirked brow, the expression rapidly becoming a mildly annoyed look of chagrin. If anyone could get away with being obnoxious, it was Demetri. Even so, it was vexing to have his twin be able to read him so well and know just how to push his buttons should it suit his fancy.

The trail of conversation quickly became more and more exasperating as Demetri went on, Bishops emerald eyes narrowing as his hands left thier pockets and folded across his chest. "Oh shut up. Who says anyone fancies anyone? And I thought we grew out of concubines. They're dirty anyway. Besides, I can tell when you're bullshitting me." Bishop rolled his eyes, only to begin growling low in his throat at the not so subtle jabs regarding his maid and her popularity amongst the castle.

"You must want me to kick your ass brother..." Bishop ground out, slowly but surely relaxing at his brother's loving gesture, his breath coming out in a huff that became a sigh as he gave in. He couldn't stay mad at Demetri for anything.

Except one thing.

The talk of him being gone sparked a rare and unparalleled anger and panic in his heart, a growl meeting his twin's words. Bishop gripped Demetri by his shoulders, all but hissing at his brother. "Don't even speak of such things! If something happens, it happens to both of us dammit! Nothing is going to happen...nothing. I won't let it!" Bishop snapped, his biggest fear above all else the loss of his brother. To think or even speak of it was synonymous with a sin in his mind.

Before he could scold his twin some more, Demetri caught what even he hadn't noticed until it was pointed out: sounds coming from Anise's room, and it sounded like her voice. Even more tense now, Bishop turned to face Anise's door even as he bid Demetri farewell for now. There was one rapid and frightened heartbeat. Something was wrong, she hadn't been this scared and upset when he left. What could possibly have happened?! He wasn't even ten feet from the door. Bishop listened for a moment more before cursing, giving the door a commanding set of knocks.

"Open the door Anise! I know you're hiding something!" Bishop barked, still frazzled from Demetri's concerns on top of puzzling over his maid.

Reiji's smirk and slight chuckle did nothing to assuage Tanzy's embarrassment or awkwardness, though thankfully he didn't comment or verbally taunt her further. She vaguely wondered about the man beside her as she silently managed to undo his buttons as instructed despite her slightly trembling hands.

About to pull back and regain some semblance of distance between herself and the vampire once more, Tanzy was prevented from doing so with another unexpected touch. Her eyes were forced to meet the ruby orbs of her master, confusion in her eyes as his hands met the back of her head. She had no chance to inquire about his actions as his fingers wove through her hair and he came even closer...

And kissed her.

It was closed mouth, but notably more than a simple peck. Tanzy's eyes went wide with shock as her face burned red at the gesture. The maid was frozen like a rabbit before a fox, breath caught in her throat and heart hammering in her chest. Even after he pulled away, she couldn't get herself to move, to speak, to do anything but stare at the vampire in stunned silence with an ever growing blush. He had kissed her. The thought alone was so unfathomable in the maid's mind that it took a second to even realize he had just begun to talk to her.

Do it again to remind her? Remind her of what? Thankfully she was spared from answering him by a knock and the voice of Demetri. Tanzy was barely listening to the twin as her brain finally began to noticeably function again and convince her to move. Hand at her lips, she shifted anxiously as Demetri made it obvious he knew she was in here with Reiji.

Once more Reiji added to her mortification with the decision she would help him dress. Her poor nerves weren't going to get any break from him it seemed, the young woman nodding as she thankfully approached his wardrobe to pick something for her master.

Looking through the clothes, her mind began to dwell on what had just happened. Reiji had kissed her on the lips. But why? It didn't make an ounce of sense to her. She was a maid, he was her new master. As far as she knew, she was just food and service. He had made it evident in the past that she and other humans were beneath him, that people were disposable. So why? Even when he had said she was pretty, he hardly seemed to be actually interested in her as a person.

Finally, Tanzy came across a suit that made her pause. It was dark blue, almost black, and didn't have any fancy embellishments like much of the dressier attire. A simple stitched trim of silver and plain sterling silver buttons were the only accents on the suit.

Deciding this would do, Tanzy brought the outfit out to her master, still dwelling on the kiss as she approached Reiji. His eyes had the mischevious look in them, and instantly her embarrassment and flushed face began to vanish. He was teasing her. Of course. She was a toy to him, something to play with for his amusement, and nothing more. He was having fun with her. The realization was strangely bitter in her mind.

Biting her lip and forcing her voice back into her throat as she had managed to do so far when agitated by the male, Tanzy began to help the vampire into a shirt and his suit. He had stolen her first kiss. Granted, it was closed mouth, but that didn't make it any better in her mind. Secretly a romantic, Tanzy had always wanted to fall in love someday, and have a sweet first kiss. She had begun to resign herself to the fact that her new life made such a possibility out of the question, but his gesture had teased that romantic daydream in her mind. Sure, she didn't dare have any whims of fancy regarding the castle's occupants, but she was still cruelly reminded of what she had once hoped for.

This is about Bishop, I know it because you don't do anything without him, but I don't care. I will do anything if it means I don't have to go to sleep."

Demetri had a devilish smirk on his face as his sister addressed his intentions directly. He couldn't contain his amusement, seeing as Mirabelle was as sharp as ever. Since birth the twins were thick as thieves. She knew them well, despite her tragic absence, "Very well. I will grant you a distraction then and yes it is our dear brother that we will be pranking." Demetri chimed, a bit more enthusiastic than usual, but that could easily be blamed on the impending party he would have the honor of arranging.

Obviously he missed something, but Demetri trusted that his sister would confide in him or one of their other siblings if she needed a shoulder to lean on. He'd seen enough as a vampire and assumed she endured quite a bit herself. He still kept secrets to himself, even from Bishop.

Brother, would you please take Jane with you when you tend to the horses? Will you show her where they are and how we do it here? I believe that she will be a better match at caring for them than getting into Tanzy and Anise's way. Besides, we aren't messy beings and those two are more than capable of cleaning the house. It's better if we let Jane do it instead of hiring some stable boy. Besides, the last one was too..."

"Of course. Though she'll have to get by Sebastian. He's a lady's man, I warn you."" He winked at Jane, a kind smile across his features. His wink was mildly flirtatious, but nothing too far out of his way. There was no way that Jane would know about Demetri's dog, so he was looking forward to working her up a bit. Then he snickered a bit, "You haven't seen Reiji's room? He's utterly slobbish. I've seen plenty of pig pens more organized than that man's quarters." He chuckled, but nodded in agreement. It wasn't like Reiji allowed anyone to touch his belongings, let alone organize them. His brother went to great lengths to keep his door from being accessible, even as children. Reiji was constantly spanked for having an untidy bedchamber. Though that was his only behavioral flaw as children. He was the golden boy in Elizabeth's eyes... Not that Elizabeth ever liked the twins in the first place, seeing as they were a constant reminder of Edward's infidelity.

"Suggestive? Is that the right term? Poor boy would have done anything a pretty lady asked of him..."

He felt that his sister was poking at his own habit of being flirtatious, not the poor stable boy.. Which only brought another smirk to his lips. She was worried he would harm the girl? Nonsense. He rather enjoyed her company to be honest, not that he got to spend a lot of time in it.. But she seemed to be a nice girl. Jason was his current favorite, but that was due to their man to man chat before dinner the night before.. He was sure he would get along well with the short haired girl. He had several questions for her. Though to put Mirabelle's mind at ease he gave her a wink when Jane wasn't looking, though this wink was not his classic flirtatious trademark, his facial expression was instead loving and brotherly. He would do everything in his power to keep his thirst in check.

Anyway, Jane, in my closet there should be something suitable for going out to the barn. We don't usually allow women out there considering he stables are a mans work, but there should be a few pairs of pants in there.ā€

"Keeping secrets now are we, dear sister? I won't tell if you don't." Demetri chimed in a teasing tone. He had a few secrets of his own that weren't exactly masculine so he'd keep her tomboyish hobbies quiet so long as she played along with his schemes. Blackmail was a wonderful thing. How he missed his younger sister all these years!

What ever it is, I'll help you, but if Bishop tries to kill me it'll be on your head!ā€

"We both know that I wouldn't let that happen. Besides, I'm sure you've got the upper hand now. You're his sister. Bishop might be rough, but he lives for his family.. Your existence is safe, I promise." He chimed, eyes shifting to the door before he decided to divulge his plan to his sister. He had to watch his tone, just in case Bishop was in close enough proximity that he would be able to eavesdrop. Demetri remained cautious, but the mischievous glimmer in his eyes was unmistakable, "Since Castiel isn't well enough to travel, what do you say we snatch up Jason? First Reiji, and Tanzy would leave in one carriage. Then you, Jane, Camilla and I would leave in another.. But only after we send off Bishop and Anise on their own."

Jane listened to Mirabelle at the door and wondered if things were really so bad as to cause her not to even want to sleep. Jane couldn't imagine functioning without it and decided that she would have to help Mirabelle try for some sort of rest eventually.

As Jane realized she was sort of eves dropping, she dropped her head slightly, finding she couldn't help but feel slightly embarrassed, or perhaps that was just because she was in the presence of Demetri. She stood upon hearing Mirabelle asking if Jane could go see the horses, finding she couldn't believe her luck that she had someone to nice as to be her employer. Jane smiled at Mirabelle, finding already that she believed the two could grow to be good friends. She stood, still wondering how lucky a girl could be when she was in a house full of vampires being offered the job she had always wanted.

Jane watched Mirabelle, studying her smaller form before looking up to the nearly looming Demetri, who was perhaps four inches taller than her. Jane heard Mirabelle's offer and found she couldn't help but smile and shake her head slightly in wonder. "Thank you so much," Jane managed, looking to Demetri for the final word of permission, that he was going to take her out to see them.

Jane's face looked at Demetri with gratitude and thankfulness written plainly across her features. She found her smile wavering in slight confusion though it was still plain to anyone that she was happy about the opportunity upon being told about Sebastian. She wondered why her face felt like it was growing flushed and willed it to remain it's normal color.

She gave him a nod of her thanks before moving to the closet to fetch a pair of trousers. She found one and was very appreciative of the fact that Jane and Mirabelle where the same height and very close in figure too. She moved quickly, making sure the closet door was securely closed before pulling the trousers on. She was unsure what to do about the dress considering it wasn't entirely long though it did look rather strange. She looked about, wondering and hoping Mirabelle wouldn't mind if Jane borrowed a tunic of some sorts. If she didn't, she could very well ruin the dress Demetri had made and she certainly didn't want to do that. She already had blood stains on the apron to clean up.

She managed to discover a tunic and though she removed most of the dress uniform she had been given earlier, she kept the shift on, tucking the longer part of the skirt into the waist of the trousers, knowing the loose tunic would cover them. She emerged, feeling more like at home in the clothing that wasn't so... fancy. She heard the end of the conversation on Demetri's part, "Since Castiel isn't well enough to travel, what do you say we snatch up Jason? First Reiji, and Tanzy would leave in one carriage. Then you, Jane, Camilla and I would leave in another.. But only after we send off Bishop and Anise on their own."

"M- Ms.Belle, I hope you don't mind about the tunic. I can put it back if you'd rather," She offered, feeling as if she were not going to give the outfit back even though she knew she would. She would be to guilty not too. She'd probably even wash it and make sure it was in pristine condition to make sure her guilt of everything didn't extend to the clothing as well.

She had folded the dress Demetri had given her, realizing only then that she still had the cuffs on her wrists yet not on her neck considering she had just... well, allowed Mirabelle to drink. She removed the cuffs, struggling briefly with one though having no difficulty with the other before moving forward to stand by Mirabelle.

"I don't think I have felt more at home than right now," Jane admitted with a smile that showed the Jane that she normally was, not the shy one that didn't know people and was only pretending to not be absolutely terrified. It was how Jane liked to be, and was not even worried at the moment that the two employers before her wouldn't like her.

ā€œSince Castiel isn't well enough to travel, what do you say we snatch up Jason? First Reiji, and Tanzy would leave in one carriage. Then you, Jane, Camilla and I would leave in another.. But only after we send off Bishop and Anise on their own.ā€

ā€œAnd ruin the whole day of shopping? Oh brother, you were always quick to get to your point. You did the right thing by coming to meā€¦ā€ A gleam shone bright in her eye and a hint of a smirk played on pale pink lips.
ā€œDemetri, we have to go about our shopping as normal as not to attract any attention. Then you will have her try on the most beautiful dress you can findā€¦ Preferable in Bishopā€™s favorite color and considering you are his twin after all, that should be common knowledge. We will get our hair done and our lips colored and we will find a way to get some sun on that girlā€™s skin to get a little color in her face. Then there is no way he will be able to deny what everyone already sees. Then at the end of the day we will send them off on their own. That way, if it goes horribly wrong, it wonā€™t ruin the day for the rest of us!" Mirabelle put her hands on her hips and arched an eyebrow up at him, wondering if he would argue.

ā€œMs.Belle, I hope you don't mind about the tunic. I can put it back if you'd rather. I don't think I have felt more at home than right now,ā€ Jane said, causing Mirabelle to shake her head in dismissal.

ā€œOh donā€™t be silly. They look wonderful on you. Youā€™re the one to take care of me, so the least I can do is take care of you too. Which reminds me.. Speaking of being sent off alone, I think it best that the three of us ride alone on our way there. Jane, there are some things you should know and I figured that as I tell you, itā€™s probably time I finally fill in my brother on whatā€™s going on." Mirabelle could have sworn she felt her heart jump in her chest, anxiety of spilling truths making her uneasy, but she knew that with Rei occupied with a new maid that she would have to learn to confide in not only him. Besides, if anyone out of the home would accept her for all that she was, she knew Demetri would.

ā€œEnough about this before a certain someone is no longer distracted. Hurry along and prepare the horses you two and I'll work on getting around, though Jane please do not take too long. Sometimes these men become irritably impatient and you and I still have to dress," she spoke with a warm tone. "Oh, and Demetri? This one is a curious little thing. Fair warning." Mirabelle giggled and lightly bumped her shoulder to Jane's with another smile before shooing them off so they wouldn't get caught.

ā€œAnd ruin the whole day of shopping? Oh brother, you were always quick to get to your point. You did the right thing by coming to meā€¦ā€

Demetri was intrigued by his sister's mischief. He knew she had the potential, but he was looking forward to working with her a lot more than he had anticipated.

ā€œ
Demetri, we have to go about our shopping as normal as not to attract any attention. That way, if it goes horribly wrong, it wonā€™t ruin the day for the rest of us!"

Demetri sat down in a chair as his sister spoke, quirking an orangish red eyebrow at his sister's additions to his plan. She makes a good point, I didn't think of that. Demetri thought to himself, but he would never admit that. He didn't want to stroke his little sister's ego too much, Mirabelle was the only younger sibling that Demetri had after all. After she was done, he finally added his input, "Is Anise really that pale? I haven't noticed. Brilliant alterations, might I add. We should team up more often, Belle." He winked at her with a playful expression on his face. His behavior was far more innocent with Mirabelle than it was when he spoke to the maids. There was a childlike quality in both his expressions and demeanor. It was almost as if no time had passed, like they were kids again, only living in the bodies of adults.

"Ms.Belle, I hope you don't mind about the tunic. I can put it back if you'd rather. I don't think I have felt more at home than right now,ā€

Demetri was intrigued by his sister's human, yet also a bit bothered by her announcement. She never felt more at home? She prefers men's clothes? That's a ridiculous notion. Women are meant to dress beautifully on most, if not all occasions. First Alice, then Camilla, and now Jane? It's an epidemic.

Oh donā€™t be silly. They look wonderful on you. Youā€™re the one to take care of me, so the least I can do is take care of you too. Which reminds me.. Speaking of being sent off alone, I think it best that the three of us ride alone on our way there. Jane, there are some things you should know and I figured that as I tell you, itā€™s probably time I finally fill in my brother on whatā€™s going on."

"Camilla seems to have taken to Anise I think, I see no harm in letting her ride with Anise, Jason and Bishop. Though we should take the large carriage, seeing as on our trip home Jason and Camilla will be joining the three of us. How pissed do you think our dear brother will be once he realizes the trick we've played on him?" Demetri's grin grew devilish as the thought processed through his mind. He truly enjoyed himself when it involved pranking others. He was very fond of mischief and debauchery. Demetri was a downright troublemaker at most times. Mirabelle seemed to be feeling stressed, but he knew she would speak her mind if it was important. He would give her space for now, because he wasn't the type to pry into heavy matters without a glass of scotch or wine at the ready.

"Enough about this before a certain someone is no longer distracted. Hurry along and prepare the horses you two and I'll work on getting around, though Jane please do not take too long. Sometimes these men become irritably impatient and you and I still have to dress."

"Me impatient? You wound me, dear sister. You must be mistaking me for Reiji or Bishop." He chuckled, though when it came to situations like this, he was right there with his brothers. Demetri loved clothes, especially crafting or picking them out. He definitely looked forward to finding a dress for his little darling Camilla. It would be pleasant to see the other girls in their gowns too. It felt like he was being given a sneak peek, and it was always exciting to know something the guests did not.

"Oh, and Demetri? This one is a curious little thing. Fair warning."

"I appreciate a thirsty mind, that shall not be a problem. More people should be curious, there is much left for us to learn." Demetri smiled, a bit of a tinkerer himself. He was always looking to improve his clothing designs and loved to interior decorate.

He waved farewell to his sister, ushering for Jane to follow him, "Right this way, little dove." He choked, far more chipper and enthusiastic than previous encounters. He was in an exceptional mood, and it wasn't exactly clear as to why. He obviously wouldn't say. He led Jane down the stairs, reminding himself to keep a 'human' pace. He was so used to zooming around with supernatural speed.

He led her to the stables quite promptly after the duo made their way outside. Once to the stables, Demetri opened the door and called out, "Sebastion!"

Soon after, the two could hear someone, or perhaps something, rushing in their direction. Though he warned Jane that Sebastion was a flirt, she soon found out otherwise as a rather large Doberman came to greet her. He definitely mislead her, quite intentionally.

He proceeded inside, the Doberman following him shortly after, but not before showering Jane with his love and affection. Sebastion turned out to be a dog in the end, "We're you expecting someone a little more human, little dove?" Demetri teased, pointing to the first stall with a beautiful black mustang residing inside "This one is one of Reiji's horses."[/color][/b] Demetri informed her. Pointing to an engraved name on the stall that read: 'Devil'

He then pointed to the horse directly across from the black mustang, and there was an identical horse of similar color, except this horse was female, "Also Reiji's horse, Davina. She is his pride and joy. They shall be pulling his carriage on this excursion."

He continued on, two white Spanish mustangs in the next corresponding stalls, "Mine and Bishop's. They are siblings, both male.. So it seemed fitting. Mine is a bit off an off white, and his name is Aries. Bishop's is named (_____). (I will replace the space when Stealth PMs me a name.) They will be pulling Bishop's carriage." and he finally halted in front of two brown mustangs, one was a light brown and the other was dark. The dark brown one had a white diamond on it's forehead and the light brown one had a star shape in the same spot, "The one with the diamond mark was a horse I bought shortly after Mirabelle's arrival... I'm not sure if she's named her yet, and the other is named Capella... I leave them in your care. I will fetch the carriages. Feed them and prepare them for fitting. Reiji's carriage leaves first."

Jane was happy to listen to the siblings as they seemed to figure the rest of the trip to town out together. Jane nearly wanted to roll her eyes at Mirabelle's warning. She wasn't that curious... Was she? As Demetri ushered Jane through the door, she glanced at him. He was at least three inches taller than her and she had to look up to see his face. How was it that someone who seemed so kind and generous was a vampire who relied on peoples' blood in order to survive? How was it that any of the family had to rely on blood? Could people so nice really require something Jane had always though of as bad, be nice? She stopped the thoughts, finding that she couldn't quite keep up with her confusing thoughts.

Jane found herself tired, rubbing at her eyes slightly as she suppressed a yawn, dropping back a step so Demetri wouldn't see. She thought about it for a moment, then realized he'd know anyway since he had wonderful hearing and could probably hear it even though she did suppress it.

Jane found she hated the fact that she didn't know more about them and that it seemed they could tell nearly everything about her while she couldn't tell anything about them, other than how they looked. Jane realized she was sounding that curious, and she was just thinking. She scowled slightly, finding that she was annoying herself, which wasn't a common thing.

Jane found that she was thankful Demetri was the one leading her. Out of the brothers, he seemed most approachable. As he led her to the stables she surveyed the grounds. It was such a nice place. A large house for a few people as it seemed was customary in the world. When Demetri called for Sebastion upon their entering the stables, Jane's eyes widened. She heard the approach of Sebastion before seeing a large dog approaching her. She smiled, laughing slightly at Demetri's words from earlier. A flirt he was, she thought as she kneeled in front of him and began scratching his head.

At Demetri's comment, she looked up at him, a giant now that she was kneeling. "I had expected, well, a lady's man," Jane stated with a smile as she went back to the dog. She liked dogs, had always wanted a lot of dogs, but had never gotten any more than one at a time, and only once.

Jane stood, smiling and scratching the dog's head as she looked to where Demetri was pointing. The horse, Devil, made Jane sober slightly at the initial silly moment with the dog. She looked at the horse with appreciation, for it was absolutely beautiful. Jane made a note of what Demetri said about Reiji's horses carrying his carriage. She followed Demetri, appreciating each one and finding she wanted to pet each one, but wasn't sure if she should. She had never seen such fine horses.

Jane went to Mirabelle's horse, petting the head gently as she looked at Demetri to hear the rest of what he had to say. "Alright, thank you Deme, Mr, Lord Demetri. I'm sorry, I am really unused to all of these formalities. I'll have them ready," Jane stated finding the stuttering left her cheeks reddening. Why was she so embarrassed to be making such a mistake in front of someone she had only just met? She turned away, not wanting him to catch the red on her cheeks, burying her head in the neck of the horse.

She would have to gather the feed, the bridles, the reins, basically everything needed for a horse to be led about while guiding a carriage. She'd also have to start on Reiji's horses since they were leaving first. At the same time, should she move when she had already embarrassed herself in front of Demetri? She knew she shouldn't try to get so worked up over him being nice to her, so she turned, ducking her head as she tried to walk past him, much more subdued than earlier.

She moved to the front of the stable, reaching for the pitchfork leaning against the wall. She paused, turning to Demetri. "I'm new to a lot of things. Like, people, actually. In general, I am, really confused about a lot of things. I don't know if you had much to do with it, but, thank you for this job. Things would have been a lot different if I hadn't been given it," Jane stated, hoping to make her embarrassment less about being so close to a boy who appeared to be close to her age. She knew it was probably stupid and cliche, but it was true. She would have had to leave home and probably do a job far less kind and rewarding to her.

"Alright, thank you Deme, Mr, Lord Demetri. I'm sorry, I am really unused to all of these formalities. I'll have them ready,"

Demetri smirked at her slip of tongue and ran a hand through his hair, giving her a moment to sink into embarrassment. Suddenly his eyes widened. That blush, it was intoxicating. He loved that look on a woman, but it looked particularly well on Jane for some reason.. It was like a mild high to know it was put there because of him. Sure, he was a bit egotistical, but didn't he have a right to be? He was the womanizer in the family... He had been with more women than Reiji, and definitely Castiel. Bishop? Maybe, he wasn't so sure anymore. Most of their escapes into town left Demetri blood drunk and he didn't remember much of their raids at this point.

"I'm monopolizing that look on your face, okay?" He leaned in a little, quirking his right brow. He loved that look of embarrassment, and something about this unorthodox woman was intriguing. Though he couldn't do anything to disrespect her, Belle would have his head, plus he wasn't ready to continue womanizing. He reach forward, cupping a thin strand of Jane's hair and ran it between his fingers, "You may be my sister's maid, but don't blush like that for anyone else... and I'll let you call me Deme at times when no one else is around to listen. It will be our little secret. Do we have a deal, little dove?" He chuckled before letting go of her hair and standing back in an upright position, as if he'd never gotten intimately close to her at all.

"I'm new to a lot of things. Like, people, actually. In general, I am, really confused about a lot of things. I don't know if you had much to do with it, but, thank you for this job. Things would have been a lot different if I hadn't been given it,"

"Some part.. but not in the way you would think. Reiji was mostly responsible for that.. I guess my brother does have a heart, somewhere. Please avoid him when you politely can.. I don't want to see you harmed.." There was complex look in Demetri's green eyes, a mixture of amusement and sadness. He wasn't entirely expecting gratitude from the girl. Not to mention he wasn't sure what she was talking about. Sure, there were places worse than this, but why would she end up there? She was a very useful employee thus far, willing and able to do things that many girls couldn't accomplish if they tried. For a minute, he forgot that as the world currently stood, this was a man's world. He felt bad, because women like Tanzy and Jane would have made valuable contributions to society. Anise probably could as well, if she'd get over that adorable shyness. Tanzy was shy as well, but only when put in a compromising position... which Reiji, Castiel, and even himself were fond of doing on occasion.

"I will return to see your progress.. Don't disappoint, alright? I've got to go wake that little dove, Camilla. I spared her an hour. Oh, and little dove, the correct formality is 'Lord'. Try not to forget.." with that, Demetri waved to Jane and disappeared before she even got the chance to blink. He made it back into the manor with incredible speed, just in time to catch Anise and Bishop entering the main hall. He gave Mirabelle a secret wink, before finally approaching Bishop.

"You should have personally dressed your maid... The poor dove is dressed as if she's going to a funeral. Demetri teased, patting Anise on the head, considering there was around a seven inch height difference between himself and his twin's precious maid. Then he smiled to his brother, a mischievous gleam in his eyes as he decided to be a bit naughty before waking his own maid, "What's wrong? I figured you'd jump at the chance to watch her dress...or perhaps...undress? You could make her try on multiple outfits..." Then he broke into laughter, shifting out of Bishop's range of grasp. The last thing he wanted was to be caught in angry Bishop's clutches.

"Kidding, but perhaps that is the reason why Reiji plopped a child of a maid in my direction... There's no trust in this family, is there?" He feigned feeling a bit insulted, but the smile on his face told otherwise. This was the most Demetri had smiled since Angelo and Katerina's deaths, and this smile was the first time it was genuine. These new recruits were just what the doctor ordered, in Demetri's case of course.

He took his leave, before Bishop decided he wanted to serve Demetri a knuckle sandwich, "Got to wake up my little dove~" and with that, he disappeared once again, stopping right outside of Camilla's door. He knocked a few times, then invited himself in. He made his way over to her closet, picking out a nice, but not overly frilly blue dress for the girl. Then he smiled to her, "Wake up, little dove. We're going shopping in town. Reiji is going, so please be on your best behavior. I'll be outside... Change or I'll change your clothes myself." He warned her, but wasn't that serious. He couldn't treat a girl of Camilla's age that way, but he was hoping she wasn't aware of that little fact. He hoped she'd be oblivious and believe him, but if she didn't he had a plan B... and she wouldn't like it.

"Who're you laughing at? And I'm waiting on you...idiot"

Anise blinked a bit in mortification, realizing that she'd actually said that out loud and laughed at him. Though she really couldn't take herself seriously, because in a mumbled tone, Bishop also called her an idiot. She tilted her head at that, then laughed again. She couldn't argue with that, there was definitely something wrong with her for being this comfortable among vampires. Perhaps a few screws came lose over the duration of the last year? So she replied with a small smile, "I'm fine with being an idiot." She chimed in a positive tone. It was better than living in constant fear, as she did a year prior to now. Sure, at times Bishop still intimidated her, but her only real fear was of Reiji. She'd already crossed the man once before, and she hoped to never do it again. Bishop was going to fight him, and she'd never forgive herself if her poor actions caused harm to Tanzy. Seeing as he began to walk away, Anise scurried to catch up, walking a few paces behind Bishop.

"Quiet. Mind that tongue of yours. If you need to discuss something, choose a better time to do it."

Her eyes widened, and for a moment the scolding stung, but she realized it was a sensitive topic. Although she'd never mention it, she had also forgotten that Bishop and his siblings had supernatural hearing for a second. The way Bishop was acting today, he didn't come across as a dangerous blood drinking vampire at all, in fact, he was acting relatively human. This family was quite baffling. One minute the Santiago family would be dangerous badasses, then their personalities would make them seem nothing more than your average aristocrat. Which is the real Bishop..? The scary man that threatened to kill my sister, or the man that calls me an idiot and looks out for me in this odd, indirect way..? She asked herself as they descended down the stairs, sighing almost inaudibly to human ears. Though apparently he caught on to her excitement about the excursion, because he brought it up in his next statement.

"The hell you so happy about? The asshole is coming too, and I doubt he's going to allow mingling."

O-oops.. I-I've been found out... Anise smiled a bit, rubbing the back of her neck. How was she supposed to respond? She had a secret letter tucked into her dress, but she was unsure if she'd get the chance to mail it without being noticed. Perhaps she could pass it along to a child? She needed to send this letter, if it was the last thing she ever did. She couldn't have closure with Derrick until he knew how she felt before she was swept away to Castillo de la Muerte. She hadn't wrote anything about the family being vampires, but it was definitely a love confession of sorts, albeit quite late. The letter was written in past tense, but she couldn't rest until he knew that she'd felt the same way back then, "I-I don't care about 'mingling' really..I.. just wanted to mail a letter. I've never wrote one since I've been here.. I just want to let someone back home know that I'm okay."

"We need to make an appearance so no one forgets of us and our existence. And humans are only out during the day. Besides, when else do you do shopping?"

She twiddled her thumbs a bit nervously, and nodded her head. Her mother used to send her shopping in the evening, seeing as she didn't want anyone to know Anise was buying her alcohol. Anise was used to shopping quite late, arriving home just after dark. It was a miracle that she'd never been attacked by vampires before her arrival here seeing as her mother sent her out during their hours of hunting rights, "Life with my mother wasn't like this... it was far worse." that was her only reply, because she didn't like to speak of her family. Alice and her father were the only two she knew well enough to like, her mother was a hateful and abusive woman who didn't even deserve to be called a mother.

"I don't know if she owns any shawls or such that she can wear out on the town. Think you could spare her one of yours for the day sister?"

Anise's eyes looked up to Bishop, then at Mirabelle. She didn't even realize it, but she was a bit chilly, even with the dress on. How did Bishop know that? He didn't even touch me.. Anise turned her eyes away, cheeks burning a dark red. Just how much could he sense? Was he aware of her struggle to keep her feelings for him behind lock and key? Her face was as red as a tomato, and her heartbeat sped up as she grew rather anxious. Just the thought of him finding out made her feel as though she would die of embarrassment.

"You should have personally dressed your maid... The poor dove is dressed as if she's going to a funeral."

Anise's blush slowly faded, eyes lifting and seeing a very familiar face. It was none other than Demetri, Bishop's twin, the perverted brother. Demetri made all of the female help feel nervous, but she could have sworn he was bedding a few the night of the ball before Katerina came along. He was always disappearing with one or two.. Did he have no shame?

"What's wrong? I figured you'd jump at the chance to watch her dress...or perhaps...undress? You could make her try on multiple outfits..."

Immediately, before she even had a chance to drop her head and hide her embarrassment with her bangs, Anise's face turned a dark crimson red, "L-Lord Demetri!" Her heart stopped for a moment, D-Demetri's words... did he really just say that? She felt as though the entire world stopped spinning for a moment. She wanted to say something, but it was not her political place, or a good survival tactic. Her eyes were locked on Demetri in a sense of pure shock, rage, and complete embarrassment.

"Kidding, but perhaps that is the reason why Reiji plopped a child of a maid in my direction... There's no trust in this family, is there?"

He's so horrible! Why say things like that!? She thought to herself, hiding her face behind her hands. She really wasn't looking forward to this trip anymore. She couldn't even make eye contact with any of the siblings now. She kept her gaze on the ground, her entire face still rather red.

"Got to wake up my little dove~"

G-good riddance.. Anise thought to herself. She really couldn't put up with the mischievous brother right about now, especially since embarrassing her was his current favorite past time. Didn't he have other people to bother, like his own maid? She tried to calm her breathing, in attempt to make her blush go away before it got her in an even more awkward situation. She really wasn't fond of Demetri at the moment.

"Forgot to get the new moron."

I wonder why Bishop doesn't like him..? Jason seemed nice enough, although he spent a strange amount of time staring at me... but that was just over my sister.. I'm glad someone else loved her as much as I did..

Tanzy visibly relaxed at his calm answer, a small bubble of hope in her heart as he revealed she could, in fact, communicate freely with her loved ones. She even felt a bit bad for inferring he and his family were cruel. Soon enough, Reiji began to point out more rules, setting the conditions to be followed as he had for everything else. His kindnesses always ended with some other clause or statement to make her more than just a tad wary of him once more. This time was no exception, her face blanching slightly at his declaration of hating heroes. Though his words made sense, he wanted to protect himself and his family, so she didn't feel unduly perturbed at his warnings. She nodded to indicate her understanding, faltering only slightly as his final words sunk in.

He would never allow her to leave the manor.

Not even if one of her siblings found a spouse? Not even if a family member was on their death bed? The realization of just what that would entail was depressing, the thought of going outside into town not enough to soothe the bitter feeling. She almost felt like crying. She was grateful for the freedom to write them, but surely he knew she wouldn't betray his family? She'd never dare speak of the Santiago's secret, even if she thought anyone would believe her. No matter how big and grand the manor was, it was little more than a prison as well as a work place if stepping off the grounds would be forbidden.

Tanzy said nothing more, finishing her last bite and cleaning up her dishes before bowing slightly to her master, heading to her room to change.

She came down just before Mirabelle could lead Anise up the stairs. Upon seeing her ebony- haired friend, Tanzy was overcome with feelings of gratitude, amazement, and a burning relief that she could actually protect the girl.

Before the blonde vampire girl could lead her further, Tanzy rushed over and took her friend in an embrace, holding Anise to her so she could whisper to her.

"Anise! You never told me you'd given up your pay to my family! You're so kind to me...I couldn't ask you to do that, oh, but Anise!" Tanzy pulled back, smiling and holding her fellow maid's shoulders. "But more importantly, you'll be ok from now on! You don't need to fear anymore- the master won't harm you." she exclaimed in an excited whisper.

Alas, she couldn't linger with her friend some more, Mirabelle escorting Anise away, much to Tanzy's chagrin. She never could accept the blonde girl.

Anise's soft voice had reached his ears, the red head wondering what about his words made her laugh. She had been so distressed, and still seemed a bit shy, but she was smiling. He vaguely wondered if he'd ever figure out the subtleties of the maid's moods. He could tell her mood, just not what prompted the swift changes in her day to day expressions. Even more confusing was her lack of distress at being called an idiot. She never complained when he did and was now even going so far as to say it was ok, but why? Was she somehow actually aware he didn't call her one out of true malice towards the human, or did she simply think so little of herself? Bishop wasn't entirely sure which he thought was worse.

He glanced at the maid out of the corner of his eye, trying to gauge how she was taking his subtle and rough warning to not speak of her troubles out loud where prying eyes could hear. Thankfully, though she seemed abashed at first, the look didn't last and he sensed no lingering depression of her mood. When he spoke again, he caught a slight smile as the ebony-haired girl rubbed her neck in what he could only describe as an almost sheepish manner.

To his surprise, she had been thinking on something else entirely, and he noted a certain determination in her objective. Her heartbeat, her tone, her eyes, something about her made the revelation seem significant to him. He wondered to whom the letter was addressed, since she revealed a sour now nonexistent relationship with her mother, and her sister was dead. Who else did she have? She never mentioned her father, nor any other siblings. It made Bishop wonder who she could be mentioning. She didn't sound like she had the most pleasant of childhoods. Despite this, he reigned in his curiousity for the time being, leaving his sister and Anise as he stormed off to fetch Jason.

To his credit, the human male didn't keep the impatient redhead waiting. Even now, despite being drank from and hopefully having the shit scared out of him, the human was calm and professional in his reply. Just to irk him more.

"Yeah, stop asking that. You really think I'd let you get away from me without doing something for me should I require it? Stupid. Now come on, don't keep me waiting. And remember my rules!" Bishop snapped irritably, motioning for Jason to follow behind him as he marched back down the stairs to his younger siblings.

Demetri's words were not unlike him,and yet, they did elicit a slight twitch this time. Bishop didn't even need to look at Anise to know she was upset by his twin, her heart and voice easy enough to read without trying. Sometimes Bishop almost worried that Demetri had his sights and his fangs set on his maid. As close as he and his twin were, there were certain things he did not share. Mainly food and women. Though in all fairness, the latter was more in part to how picky Bishop was in his selection.

"Is there some stupid made- up holiday dedicated to being annoying that I'm not aware of? Almost everyone seems to be doing a damn good job of pissing me off the past twenty four hours..." Bishop drawled in annoyance, rolling his eyes. To be sure, Demetri had a point, it was pretty satisfying the year before when he picked out a ball gown for Anise. But still, for just going out, he hadn't thought it anything to be concerned about. Besides, he wasn't particularly excited at the thought of playing with fashion as was his twin.

The mischief in Demetri's eyes didn't go unnoticed, Bishop's emerald orbs narrowing slightly even as Demetri patted his maid's head as he goaded him. Just as he was about ready to grab the nearest piece of decor and chuck it at a certain brother's head, Demetri made himself scarce by running off to fetch his assigned maid. Bishop scoffed, giving his brother a rather rude hand gesture. In spite of this, he was genuinely relieved to see a real smile on Demetri's face, his laughter something Bishop had dearly missed. He hoped being crass and uncensored with him would help rather than hinder. It was rare he was ever truly angry with Demetri, and this time was no different- his anger was simple annoyance and banter.

Demetri noticed that his poor little maid was breathing irregularly, so he grew closer. Immediately he noticed a fever on her cheeks. His eyes softened and he let out a sigh of disappointment, "I'll pick out your dress while we're out. Sleep tight and get better soon, okay? I'll be back later to check on you, little dove.." Demetri cooed as he ran gentle fingers through Camilla's hair. His eyes had a glimmer of sensitivity in them, but it evaporated, much like his presence. He couldn't waste time, even though his maid seemed to be very under the weather. There was a lot to do in town, and very little time to do it in, especially if he and his siblings didn't want to become toasted. He made his way back to his siblings, deciding to respond to Bishop's comment before Demetri was forced to depart to retrieve his maid. He was still sulking a bit, wishing he could watch Camilla try on all sorts of dresses, but it couldn't be helped. He'd have to find the perfect one on his own.

"Is there some stupid made- up holiday dedicated to being annoying that I'm not aware of? Almost everyone seems to be doing a damn good job of pissing me off the past twenty four hours..."

"Yeah, there is. Didn't I tell you? I created it dear brother. It happens every day or every year, ever since 1497. That's what happens when you're born with a younger twin." He winked to his elder brother. Though he was only joking. Though this was the first time he shared his birth year in front of the maids. That also meant that Bishop was born in 1497. He then looked to the windows, nodding his head. There was no more time to be wasted, he had to get things in motion, so he decided to cut this conversations short before it got out of hand.

"I am fairly certain that it is time to go. I'll run off to help Jane get the horses latched onto the carriages. Be ready Reiji, you and your little dove will be heading off first. Make sure you haven't forgotten the letters, dear brother." Demetri reminded his older brother, seeing as there would be no guests to the party if Reiji neglected to deliver those letters. Demetri would not allow that to happen, parties were one of the only things that kept him going during this extended life of his, and they were something he took very seriously. Planning a party was no simple task as far as Demetri was concerned and he treated every party as if it were a royal wedding.

Time Skip

Demetri returned with Jane and the first carriage, a hired human as the coach. He exited the carriage, helping Jane out as well before opening the main doors to Castillo de la Muerte. The sun had not yet come up, but light was in the sky. It wouldn't be long before the bright orb was among them, "Your carriage awaits, brother, little dove." and he waited for the two of them to enter before ringing a bell as their carriage went off on it's way down the dirt path. Finally the next carriage came, and he smiled a bit. This was going to be the start of the plan, although he'd take his sister's advice about not leaving the two of them alone just yet. Mirabelle had some girly things in mind such as hairdressing and makeup, so he would let his sister work his magic on the maid before sending his twin and her off alone in this very same carriage.

"Bishop, Jason, Anise.. your carriage has arrived. Too bad Castiel and Camilla are in no shape to travel." Demetri sighed, though he didn't seem nearly as effected by his brother's and maid's absence as he was implying. Demetri was in a good mood, far better than usual and it was completely unclear as to why. He was almost annoyingly cheerful, just like before Angelo's and Katerina's deaths. Demetri's eyes also had a mischievous gleam in them, he definitely had something planned. He was going to play a prank on someone, it was just unclear as to whom would be his target to the unknowing individuals. He was going to enjoy this day, and he knew it would be one he'd never forget. Well, unless Bishop decided to decapitate him for it, then perhaps he might forget it.

After the three boarded the carriage, Demetri signaled the driver to head off, and finally the last carriage came for Mirabelle, Jane, and Demetri. Immediately Demetri opened the carriage door for the two women, allowing them to enter first before sliding in as well. This ride was going to take about thirty minutes to an hour, so there would be plenty of time to talk about their plans for Bishop, as well as whatever it was that Mirabelle planned to confess to him. Demetri sat across from the two women, and turned his attention to the window as they drove off, "What was it that you wished to tell me, Belle?" He was curious, but there was also a pit in his stomach. Something told him that this conversation would not be lighthearted and typical 'chit-chat'. Though if she needed to vent, he would allow it, regardless of what it was she had to tell him. Demetri was just that kind of man, he hated it when others were forced to carry heavy burdens on their own. He always tried to lend a helping hand when he could, he just wondered how much longer he could keep going. This was growing maddening, he wanted to just give up. He'd lived for 398 years if you counted his years as a human and his time as a vampire as well. He was growing tired of his existence, he wanted to just die in peace so he could reunite himself with Katerina and start where they'd left off. Their love was new, fresh, and it made him feel human again. It was gone before it even began, and now he was just ready to give up.

Jane smiled at Demetri when he reappeared, thankful that he had. "Deme, um..." Jane cleared her throat before continuing on, "Nevermind." Jane didn't know how to phrase her question and wasn't even sure which one to ask considering how hard arranging her thoughts seemed to be at the moment.

As soon as the horses were in place, she rushed inside to dress since she knew going to town in slacks and a tunic would not be appropriate in the least whatsoever.

When Demetri helped Jane out after bringing her the carriage to work with the horses, Jane would have dripped had his hand not been there. She was surprised it was the first time it had actually happened. She was too clumsy for this to be the first time. She did wince slightly when he touched her hand, feeling it in the aching hands that hadn't been used to the rough wood of the pitchfork for years.

Jane gave the head of the house a nod of her head and a little bow, before standing to watch it go off. She jogged to the door upon thanking Demetri, ducking her head as she did so, walking in as she reached the interior and moved to go upstairs to dress.

As Demetri opened the carriage door for Jane, Jane gave an appreciative smile to him, as she climbed in. She wasn't sure where to sit, but eventually did. Jane looked to Belle as Demetri addressed her, curious about it though she didn't speak as she had learned the night before. In remembrance of it, she rubbed her neck where she had been bitten, unable to find where Belle's fangs had pierced her skin.

As Jane looked out the window as well, she rested her hands in her lap, thankful she had grabbed her gloves from her room in order to hide her now pained hands. She wore a pink dress that was pale, her black cloak the only thing keeping her shoulders hidden from the world. She had nearly tripped in the shoes she was unused to, but was glad she didn't as the embarrassment would have been horrible.

Jane wondered what she should or could say in the carriage, or if she should or could. She found herself studying Mirabelle out of the corner of her eye before turning her eyes to Demetri and finding that she couldn't quite look away when she probably should have. She quickly looked away when she found she was doing it, studying the scenery outside instead.

Belle watched as Bishop thought everyone was against him today. She stayed quiet, wondering if what Demetri and her had planned would lighten his mood, or make it worse. Ever since her encounter with Reiji, she had a bit of guilt at the pit of her stomach. Mirabelle thought for sure that the idea of Bishop or Anise being happy, especially together, even just a little bit, would upset Rei. That caused a mental sigh and the slight deflation of her shoulders. Why did the happiness of one sibling have to cause such opposite feelings amongst another?

Climbing into the carriage when it was her turn, she sat herself beside Jane with Demetri across from them. She stared at him for a long time, glanced at Jane and then looked back at him. How did she even start? Could she ruin this mood that he was in? If she didnā€™t go now though, sheā€™d lose her confidence. At least here in this carriage, she knew it was only the three of them with no one around with their sensitive hearing to eaves drop.

ā€œI loved Rei,ā€ she blurted out. ā€When mom brought him home when I was real young, I thought he was meant for me to love. You know when two noble families plan their marriages, they let the children play at a young age so that there is less of a chance of rebellion? I thought that this is what it was.. I thought I was to marry, so I loved him. I didnā€™t realize it was just to get back at fatherā€¦ā€ She paused a moment, looking at her hands in her lap, lightly picking at her fingernails, still trying to find the courage to keep going.

ā€œWhen they took me, I thought it was all over. At first it wasnā€™t so bad. I was simply locked in a room. I got bread and water brought to me and a bed to sleep on. I was terrified, but I wasnā€™t hurt. I spent a lot of nights in that room, and then all of a sudden everything changed. After that, I no longer got a room and a bed to sleep on. I got a four by four cage. If I misbehaved, I got a room again, but the floor was lined with wide spikes that I would be forced to kneel upon for hours with no chance of relief, until I learned my lesson. I couldn't stand to give my knees a break for the ceiling was way too low, and I couldn't sit or shift. They would feed me their blood when my knees and shins would be so tore up I couldnā€™t move. They didnā€™t give me the luxury to scar. My body hurt so bad, there were days I would beg them to beat me in hopes they would mark somewhere someone could see, only to give me their blood... I begged for it. Anise was a dear to not cinch this dress to tight, but I can't even feel it. I can't feel anything but fingers in my hair, or a touch to my cheek.. I know I have something tight around me from how far my lungs can expand, but I could be injured right now and not even know it.ā€

Still refusing to look at him, she continued. ā€What I wanted to tell you isnā€™t about what happened to me. Itā€™s about this stupid civil war thatā€™s going on in our own home. I donā€™t know what happened while I was gone,ā€ light tears started to gather in her eyes, ā€but I hate this fighting. I hate that everyone has to pick sides. I hate that at the very end of this, I will be against you and Bishop, against Cassie too. Rei saved my life; about six years ago, I heard his voice. He was still looking for me and I couldnā€™t fathom why. I was supposed to be dead. It had been centuries, which lead to my confusion if that was even his voice. I wasnā€™t crazy, I couldnā€™t have been, but I found my will to live again, to be free. I started my plan to get out because I knew that if I did, I would have somewhere to go. Ever since Iā€™ve been back, Iā€™ve spent just about every night in the corner of his room. He taught me to read, and is teaching me about the theories of math and sciences. He taught me to writeā€¦ I have stacks and stacks of journals in the corner of his room, and in my closet. Some just practicing letters and words, others trying to write my nightmares out in the hopes of peace. My nightmares aren't of my past anymore, but what's going to happen to this family. Deme, please donā€™t make me pick. I love you, I love all of you, please donā€™t make me pick. I want us to be a family again, but I canā€™t do it on my own.ā€

Mirabelle then lurched forward in her seat and tossed her arms around his neck, pushing her face into his shoulder as she hugged him. She couldnā€™t talk to Rei about all of this, because she didnā€™t want to look weak. She wanted to be strong for him, to be someone he was proud of, but holding it all in was making it even harder for her to sleep at night, and she knew that Demetri would always look at her the same.

I loved Rei,ā€

Demetri's emerald orbs immediately grew wide. He knew that Mirabelle was always very close to Reiji, especially as children, but he never caught on to the prospect of Romantic feelings. He kept quiet, nodding his head as his sister made her confession. He might as well hear her out before jamming his two cents in, right? He didn't want to make Mirabelle self-conscious, because she would clam up and possibly never reveal what was bothering her. She seemed nervous enough, so his words would do nothing to help her until he understood her reasoning.

ā€When mom brought him home when I was real young, I thought he was meant for me to love. You know when two noble families plan their marriages, they let the children play at a young age so that there is less of a chance of rebellion? I thought that this is what it was.. I thought I was to marry, so I loved him. I didnā€™t realize it was just to get back at fatherā€¦ā€

This much he knew, the twin boys were a stab to the heart, physical proof of Edward's infidelity, but there was little she could do. Women did not have the sexual luxury that men did. If she were to let her own eyes wander, Edward could have had her hanged for unfaithfulness. Though that was not the end of Elizabeth's pain. Edward legitimized the twins after after they became a few years old, directly after their daughter Mirabelle's second birthday. she used Reiji. She adopted the poor child, his biological parents dying of plague and somehow the boy came out unscathed by the illness. The black haired boy was isolated as a child, barely fed and had to find his own shelter. Everyone avoided the small boy in the beginning, afraid that he might be infected with the plague as well, even though he was only four years old. After he was clearly unaffected by the disease, others treated him poorly for surviving, as if he were some kind of ill omen or a living curse. That is, until Elizabeth happened upon him on one faithful evening, just a few short weeks after the twin's legitimization.

She took him in immediately out of pity, but also to make him her own living weapon. Using Edward's affair to stir up feelings of guilt, Elizabeth managed to convince Edward to legally claim him as their son. Shortly after, Reiji began his studies. She forced him through rigorous lessons and barely ever let him play with the other children. She was dead set on him becoming the successor to the family, and Reiji began to want it as well, because after his real parent's died, no one wanted him for anything until now. Elizabeth gave him purpose, and he loved her, despite the fact that she stole his childhood and used him as a living, breathing, knife to stab Edward in the back with. Demetri understood why Mirabelle felt this way, because Elizabeth was never clear about her intentions with Reiji, not until they were all much older, and he assumed that by then, Mirabelle was already smitten with their adoptive sibling.

"None of us were aware of it, Belle.. We knew that they had problems.. but we didn't know. Hell, we didn't even know that me and Bishop were bastards until that farmer's son in town said it. Remember? Me and Bishop bloodied his nose. He never gossiped again" Demetri chuckled, thinking back on their childhood with a bittersweet smile on his features. Most of the memories were sad, but there were a few worth mentioning. He saw her nervousness and reach forward, squeezing her hand in his own in a reassuring manner, "No one would blame you, Belle. We were all kids, and you were kidnapped before the true reasoning was brought to light.."

When they took me, I thought it was all over. At first it wasnā€™t so bad. I was simply locked in a room. I got bread and water brought to me and a bed to sleep on. She couldn't feel the corset? Demetri was shocked. He'd never witnessed that kind of torture, but he knew that what she described was similar to how Reiji treated prisoners. He'd done plenty of torturing for this family, and he wasn't sure if Mirabelle was aware. He surely wouldn't tell her, because she had such a high view of their older brother. He didn't want to be the one to shatter her image of Reiji, he'd let someone else, if not Reiji himself, do it instead. He couldn't bear to do it himself. She'd been through enough and he didn't want to be at the other end of her future pain.

ā€What I wanted to tell you isnā€™t about what happened to me. Itā€™s about this stupid civil war thatā€™s going on in our own home. I donā€™t know what happened while I was gone,ā€

He noticed the tears, but said nothing. She wasn't crying yet, so he kept silent and chose to not act on her sadness. There was more to talk about, and he wasn't going to interrupt anymore. In fact, he could feel his own chest tightening. He never realized that she had been through so much, even though he was the first one to discover that she was alive.

ā€but I hate this fighting. I hate that everyone has to pick sides. I hate that at the very end of this, I will be against you and Bishop, against Cassie too. Rei saved my life; about six years ago, I heard his voice. He was still looking for me and I couldnā€™t fathom why. I was supposed to be dead. I started my plan to get out because I knew that if I did, I would have somewhere to go.

Hearing that Reiji was more valuable than him, it stung a bit, but he understood why. He couldn't fathom how much hell that Mirabelle had endured, and Reiji's voice was the only one she'd heard in so long? The others quit looking ages ago, because they assumed she was dead. What were the odds that she'd be turned into a vampire as well? Now, seeing her in the flesh, Demetri felt stupid for that assumption. He felt horrible for giving up the search, but what's done was done. He couldn't take it back, he just had to be a better brother to her this time around, "I understand." He responded, keeping his lips sealed otherwise. He doubted this story was over, but he interrupted to let her know that he was still patiently listening, not bored and disinterested.

Ever since Iā€™ve been back, Iā€™ve spent just about every night in the corner of his room. He taught me to read, and is teaching me about the theories of math and sciences. He taught me to writeā€¦ I have stacks and stacks of journals in the corner of his room, and in my closet. Deme, please donā€™t make me pick. I love you, I love all of you, please donā€™t make me pick. I want us to be a family again, but I canā€™t do it on my own.ā€

She didn't know how to read or write? Demetri felt like he was the worst brother ever, how did he not catch on to something like that? Why did he assume that she was capable? She was taken as a young girl, so it should have been evident to him that she was unable, but his mind was elsewhere. For a while the family hadn't been acting much like family, especially since Angelo's death. The events of the previous year definitely put a huge gap between the residents of Castillo de la Muerte, and it was going to take a lot more than loving words to fix the problems in this family. Demetri let his arms slide around Mirabelle's small frame after she launched herself into a very emotional embrace with him. He began stroking her back with one hand, gently hushing her, "I have to be there for Bishop, whatever he chooses.. but I will try and mend this family. I hate the constant bickering as well." He whispered, smiling over to Jane who had to feel very awkward witnessing all of this. So he decided to lighten up the mood a bit. A moment or two after the embrace began, Demetri ushered for Jane to join them with his free hand. He had a playful smirk on his lips as he sent the maid a rather flirtatious wink, "You're welcome to join us, dove. There is plenty of Demetri to go around." He teased, realizing that he might be reprimanded for his playful actions by both women, but he didn't mind, so long as everyone was smiling in the end.
