My defining skills

Image
ā˜£ He's a published writer ā˜£ He's a skilled writer and has wrote several books. Mostly under different aliases throughout the years. He's wrote at least twenty books and most of them are murder mysteries, typically based off his own murders throughout the years.

ā˜£ Toxicologist ā˜£ As a noble, he learnt a lot in his studies including medicine and toxicology. He can cure almost any known man-made poisons, and a couple supernatural brews as well. He is constantly testing his new poisons on living creatures, so it wouldn't be wise to anger him during his studies. He doesn't object to poisoning humans.

    ā˜£ Herbalist ā˜£
Herbalism is use of plants for medicinal purposes, and the study of such use. Reiji has been studying plants and their uses for many years. He has tested their effects on humans many times. Most often Reiji uses potentially toxic plants, but he also has an understanding of medicinal plants as well.

    Strengths

āœ” Determination || Once Reiji sets his mind on a goal, little can stop him from achieving it. Many believe that he planned the werewolf attack, due to his habit of typically getting what he wants, but also due to his grudge against Castiel. He didn't stage the event, but it didn't necessarily put him in horrible conditions. His only regret was losing Angelo to the battle.

āœ” Loyal || He is excessively loyal to those he values, though he would never admit it. Despite all these years his family holds a place in his heart that can never be replaced. He spent his banishment searching for Mirabelle, even though his gut kept telling him to give up. He couldn't stand banishment without his family. His hope that she was alive was the only reason he survived his time away.

āœ” Gentlemanly|| He can be a gentleman when it is required so he is exceptionally useful at public events and parties. He is charismatic towards those he must deceive and is expert at pretending to be a genuine person, to those who do not know his true nature.

      Flaws

ā˜  Emotionally Numb || Reiji isn't proud of this traint, but his life, memories, and personal experiences have caused him to isolate himself from his emotions. When faced with the macabre, or any other situation, people around him might find that he is inappropriate in almost every way. Most times it appears that he genuinely enjoys the pain of others. It isn't until something happens to those close to him that others are reminded he isn't completely numb to his own emotions. Though even when he lost his brother, Reiji showed relatively little despair, in fact he could still smile and make jokes. He always seems to have an understanding and eerie acceptance towards tragedy and violence, even as the people around him are terrified just observing him.

ā˜  Jealous || He is quite jealous of Castiel. He hates him for taking Edward's attention away from the rest of them, Mirabelle excluded. He spent his entire life planning how to steal their home right from under Castiel's feet. He has finally succeeded, but he cannot enjoy it. Castiel's amnesia removes the satisfaction of dethroning him entirely.

ā˜  Sadistic || He is very sadistic, the only reason he doesn't kill the help is because he would lose his sibling's favor. He pretends to like the girls, but his interest in Tanzy and Anise's innocence is quite genuine. He enjoys fear in others and will often cause it for his own amusement. He claims to be a Sociopath, but he is definitely a sadist.

" Life isn't worth living if you refuse to get your hands a little dirty.."

How I tick

Image

Personality

Generally, Reiji is Disinterested, fatigued, inattentive, and a tad irritable. Though when faced with a challenge, he's quite energetic and competitive. He hates to lose, and does everything in his power to prevent doing so. Reiji doesn't want to fall for anyone, he finds love to be a weakness he can't afford too much more of. He's terrified of deep water, despite being a vampire, Reiji cannot swim. His family, despite exiling him several times, are the only ones to understand and truly care for him. Losing them would drive him truly insane. He has a bad habit of pushing other's limits, testing their boundaries, and not taking 'no' for an answer. Also he smokes, but that is a little known factor. He's constantly toying with his glasses or random objects. He's jealous.. especially of Castiel. Reiji can be Arrogant when it comes to his own capabilities and he is quite bossy and impulsive. He's not very energetic, most of the time seen reading or napping in his free time. One must never disturb his nap unless for an exceptionally good reason. Being a man whom is quite difficult to understand, he doesn't attract many women.

Also he has a set of rules everyone is meant to follow:

  • NO ONE is allowed in his room...Not even his siblings.
  • He hates being woke up-Do so with extreme caution and at your own peril.
  • If you break one of his rules, he becomes immeasurably violent.

" I have no qualms with showing a woman her place.. "

The path that led me here

ImageImageImage As children Reiji looked up to Castiel, but as Edward began showing a favoritism toward Castiel and Mirabelle, Reiji grew bitter towards his eldest brother. Reiji was adopted, but he spent all of his time studying, trying to fill the gap. The only thing he wanted growing up was for Edward, the man he considered his father, to be proud of him. As the grew up Reiji was constantly attempting to outshine Castiel, and even started a couple fist fights with him. This continued even after becoming a vampire. Even while Reiji traveled the world with his siblings, sans Mirabelle seeing as she was kidnapped as a human child, He was envious of the blonde man. He was growing accustomed to their new lifestyle as they went, and he always seemed to enjoy the extra power more than his fellow siblings. He never invested his emotions in anyone, seeing as he was raised studiously. He was banished from Castillo after committing several crimes against the family, one including murdering a past love of Castiel's. He only returned as the vampire counsel ordered him, and his first night back in his home he was forced to fight for his life. He is head of the house, due to Castiel's accident and unfortunate loss of memory. He is far more ruthless and unforgiving so Castillo has been a lot less harmonious since his arrival. He took Castiel's maid, Tanzy and assigned Anise, Bishop's maid to his brother instead. He's stepped on several toes since he took the position and will more than likely step on several more. Though he has hired new help. Though he hasn't quite told Bishop, Mirabelle, or Demetri they're receiving new maids and a butler...yet.

So begins...

Ashlyn found the fact that Reiji would have caught her nearly instantly if she hadn't run unnerving though she didn't show it. To think that she was letting a skilled hunter, one known for his abilities, hunt her, without letting him kill her (presumably), was rather terrifying.

Ashlyn watched Reiji with an expression that refused to show him anything. He acted so casual. Leaning against the building beside him, he looked like he used to. Ash found that she wanted to reach out to touch him but refused to allow the thought to linger. Most likely, he would try to avoid her somehow and eventually end up making Ashlyn hate herself all over again.

She never really did understand why the family kicked her out. She was sure it was because they were just prejudice to her since her sister was such a horrible person. It seemed off since Demetri himself was never one to judge like that, yet, he too was one of the members of the family that had pushed her away after that night years ago.

Ash pushed the thoughts out of her head. It was absolutely something she would never like to think or experience again. Ash breathed deeply to steady her nerves. He was so close even though they were distanced. Ash was amazed that after she spoke he neglected to outright attack her.

Ash gave him a pointed glare at his being aloof as if she was trying to distract or lie to him. The fact that he also seemed to speak to her as if she was only another stranger twisted the knife in her back more. Reiji went on as if the danger was non existent.

Ash listened, her features showing she was attentive. When he spoke of Angel, Ash felt as if there had been another blow to her. She struggled to take air in as she felt the world around her spin slightly. Not Angelo. He couldn't be gone. The two were never very close, but he was still a part of the family. Ash found that she couldn't meet Reiji's eyes for the moment as she struggled to regain her own control. Ash assumed Reiji was speaking of either werewolves or her sister since Reiji had stated supernatural and since Ash knew of her sister's whereabouts a year ago, it couldn't be her.

Werewolves had killed Angelo. Reiji's arogant facade drove Ash crazy. She wanted nothing more to have him stop treating her this way. It had never been like this before. She crossed her arms as she stared at him, finding herself growing more and more angry as he pointed out that he could tell she was faking. How could she forget? Vampires weren't so easily amused with her illusions. Humans, they were simple, but vampires were much more powerful.

Ash dropped the illusion, letting her anger openly show. She wasn't nearly as good at concealing her emotions without illusions and why bother to learn when she could fake it anyway? "Has anyone in your family ever told you that you are infuriating like this?" Ashlyn asked with a raised brow. Normally, people wouldn't push Reiji, but she was as stubborn as him and had no qualms pushing the vampire.

Ash refused to allow her eyes to follow Reiji's movements as she watched him. She wanted to be the one running her hands through... No she didn't. She was mad at him. "If I wished to have you ambushed I would have actually taken that pink haired girl. Or, been in the shop she went into. However, I am here weaponless against you Reiji. Honestly, why would I want to hurt you and your family? I know... We don't have time for this," Ashlyn added after her comment about her sister coming.

"If you had bothered to listen to me when I tried to tell you about her the first time, you would know she is far more my enemy than you could ever believe. I don't even know what she did to you all. Reiji, please tell me what happened," Ash stated to Reiji, her tone turning to one that was hopeful yet without give. It worked on many people though she didn't think Reiji would succumb to it.

When Reiji stated he was the head of the household, Ash felt another loss of breath. "What happened to Castiel?" Ashlyn asked with concern lacing her tone. Ashlyn ignored the anger she heard in his tone and tried to keep the pain from reaching her.

As he began to walk away, Ashlyn whispered after him, "Reiji, you need as many allies as you can get." She couldn't help but want to go hide herself. She knew her sister was on her way and that the family would be in danger if they weren't careful.

Ashlyn's gaze was down as he continued to speak. "I didn't underestimate you Reiji. I counted on your abilities. Please, be ready," Ashlyn managed, unable to keep the sound of begging from her tone. She hated begging and anybody who knew her knew that. She could only hope Reiji was ready.

Ash went to lean against the wall behind her and slid down it. She let her head fall into her hands as she struggled to qualm her emotions.

Jane gave Camilla a smile that said 'thank you, but don't think too much about it', as if she were an older sister to the girl. In all honesty, she acted like the older sister to her older brother since he was so out of it.

Jane noticed as their small group was entering the building that Mirabelle broke off to give something to someone. Jane couldn't see it very clearly, and she didn't try to. It was Mira's business. As she had been told earlier, questions were not always a good thing. It didn't leave her mind as they stood in the store.

It did go out of her mind instantly as she saw what Mira expected to give her. It was easily the nicest thing she had ever seen much less owned. She shook her head at Mira as she looked at it. "There is no reason for me to shop around Lady Belle... It's beautiful," Jane stated with a smile that she couldn't hide from her face. It was definitely a work of art in Jane's eyes.

Jane nodded at Mirabelle's offer and followed her into the changing room. Jane, prepared to help Mirabelle into her dress first. She set Mira's robe to the side as she moved to help the younger appearing girl into her dress.

Jane helped Mirabelle into her dress before removing her own robe to begin putting on her own. She moved to lace up Mirabelle's dress first. With Mira's statement, Jane just gave a smile. "You needn't if we don't have time. It'll be warmer as the sun rises. And you need your cloak considering... well, considering."

Jane made the laces as tight as she dared without restricting breathing though she realized, Mira didn't really have to since she was... well, a vampire.

Jane smiled at Mirabelle upon having her own laces finished before opening the curtain for the youngest Santiago to exit first. Jane followed after, standing beside her and fingering the way the skirts were in texture.

Jason noticed the lack of a quip as Bishop told him to hurry. He was surprised but pretended it was nothing out of the ordinary as he thought about the words while changing. Jason couldn't help but admire himself slightly before leaving the room, amazed at the fit once again.

Jason looked to Bishop as he emerged and saw that he was marching toward him. When Bishop straightened, Jason nodded in response to Bishop's gesture. He stood, waiting with his hands behind his back as he wasn't sure it was a good idea to place htem in his pockets.

Jason watched from his spot as Bishop looked through display cases and seemed to be considering. A moment later, he came back and Jason dropped his arms as Bishop began placing things different places without any real explanation.

Jason thanked the red headed twin before he moved to go pay. Jason stood where he had been left, looking around and listening as he watched the scene around him unfold.

Jason moved to go to Demetri. He looked at the other twin and told him quite simply, "Sir, I need your opinion on something. You see, well... Perhaps I could steal you later for a few moments of your time so that I might ask you in a better place," Jason said. His tone was slightly uncomfortable and though he knew he wasn't being very specific, he hoped Demetri wouldn't ask too many questions and would just grant him his request later on.

He had to know if Demetri thought it would be a bad idea to give the letters he had so desperately wanted to give to Alice to her sister. Only to show the girl what he had felt for her sister. He was concerned Bishop might grow angry. It was then that Jason decided he would also ask Bishop if he was alright with it. It was obvious to Jason that Bishop had feelings for Anise to a certain degree that he didn't want to try to guess about.

"I'll also ask Lord Bishop, yet it depends first of all on whether or not you would believe it is a terrible idea," Jason explained so as to make it clear he was not going behind Bishop's back.

Although she was forced to separate from her friend prematurely, Anise was still quite happy, even if it didn't exactly show on her facial expressions. To know that Tanzy was excited about the ball, it warmed her heart, even if formal dances did not sit well with Anise herself. Her sister died the last time that the Santiago family threw a party, so she couldn't help but be a bit skeptical and reserved about the situation. She had a bad feeling about this, but she was simply a maid. There was nothing she could do to prevent the party from happening, so she resolved to simply keep close watch on the other girls. No one said she had to have fun, only that she must attend.

"Perfect. How's the fit?"

However, despite her resolve, she was rather shaken by Bishop's comment. Her amethyst eyes drifting to his form before blinking a few times in surprise, "S-spot on, mi'lord. Your attire suits you as well." Anise replied with a faint smile, shifting her eyes away from him once again. She could feel the light tint on her cheeks, and she had no intention of letting it morph into a full on blush. Seeing him in the daylight like this, it made everything else feel like it was just a long and horrible nightmare. He seemed nothing more than human standing before her, even though she knew for a fact that this was a complete lie. She was beginning to fully understand why vampires were so dangerous.. Aside from his fangs, everything about Bishop's physical appearance was inviting and was quite aesthetically pleasing.

"Am I that repulsive that you must sigh when you approach?"

Anise's heart skipped a beat at this, her eyes returning to Bishop quickly, both wide with shock. How did he come up with a conclusion like that? She immediately felt a sense of panic, and shook her head profusely, "N-no! I mean.. Uhm... Of course not! B-but not... I.." Immediately Anise's entire face was engulfed by the dark red tint of her blush and she turned her back to him without thinking it through. She could feel her heart beating quicker than normal, so she knew that he, and all of his siblings could definitely hear it. She had to calm down at any cost, because Reiji would definitely find a reason to torment her. He seemed to realize the one thing that Bishop seemed to not. Reiji obviously was having fun torturing her, because he knew about how she felt for Bishop. She attempted to focus on her breathing, clenching her fists around the sleeves of her dress. Relax.. Relax.. He's a noble, and a vampire. He doesn't feel that way about you. Did we forget to mention that Anise was also still somewhat in denial? She couldn't admit the full weight of her feelings, because she knew that once she opened that door, it would never close again.

"And where's the moron? He should be done changing by now..."

"I think he's.." Though she spotted Jason approaching soon after she began to speak. Her blush finally faded, so she returned to facing Bishop, but did not make direct eye contact, "I apologize.. I'm still not feeling well.." It wasn't a lie, but a fever definitely was not the cause of her insane blush just moments before.

"Hold still...Wait."

She watched Bishop wander off, and she was quite confused, her eyes shifting to Jason. What was left to add to his suit? In her opinion, Jason seemed to look fine, not that she would ever say that in Bishop's range of hearing. Seeing as she was unsure of the vampire's hearing perimeters, she chose to say nothing at all. When he returned, she couldn't help but smile. It was the first time she'd seen him show any positive look towards the butler yet. Perhaps he was slowly warming up to Jason? It made her a bit sad, but she was happy also, he needed to warm up to more people in her opinion. Perhaps he wouldn't be so testy? Her grin grew at the thought, she couldn't imagine a Bishop without that enormous temper. She wouldn't hold her breath, besides, she kind of liked his temper, he reminded her of a child... His temper was his sense of innocence in her opinion, but perhaps that was because she'd never witnessed him and Demetri 'hunting'... She didn't realize just how wrong she truly was.

"Anise, if you see any accessories you want or need, fetch them now."

"Of course, excuse me then, mi'lord." Anise replied with a rushed curtsy before immediately scurrying off towards a hair accessory she'd seen on the way to the women's changing quarters and carefully retrieved it before meeting Bishop where he stood to pay for everything and presented it to him, unsure if he would like it. This was her first time choosing anything to wear for herself, so she was kind of excited, but also terrified that he wouldn't approve. The hair piece was delicate, with three purple butterflies as the main focus. She loved it immensely, especially since her and Alice used to catch butterflies as children. It was the one thing about this party that made her excited, other than getting her hair done by Tanzy, that is.

"It suits her, so what the hell does it matter if it's more traditional? Besides, not like she can't just wear one of the gowns Castiel gave Tanzy if for whatever reason this one doesn't work out. Besides, I'm not some weak pathetic excuse for a man who can't control himself over something as simple as a dress. So do kindly mind your own damn business. He was talking to me, not you."

Anise was completely baffled. She couldn't hear the exchanges made between Demetri and Reiji, so she had no idea what Bishop was going on about, but she knew that he was referring to her, causing her cheeks to lightly flush once more. It was nice to hear that he wasn't a pervert like Demetri, though the teases and questionable remarks he used to make made her a bit skeptical about that. He might have not been a physical pervert, but occasionally his remarks were..

ā€œDonā€™t you dare.ā€

"I wouldn't dream of it, deary~" Demetri chimed as he waved off Camilla. He was incredibly fond of her, solely because she reminded him of his Alice. She was much younger, but that made her so much more adorable in his emerald eyes. He would die before he allowed any harm to come to his one. He'd already lost two in the past year, not to mention his beloved brother, Angelo. He couldn't bear to lose anyone else.. He was certain that he wouldn't survive it again. Over his extended life time, he had seen far too many of his loved ones die.

"It suits her, so what the hell does it matter if it's more traditional?

"I just thought that after an entire year.. that you'd be at least a little more curious about her... Or have you already seen more of sweet little Anise without sharing the details with your favorite brother?" Demetri asked in an offended and hushed tone, keeping to a tone only the vampires in the room could hear. He had an evident smirk on his features, enjoying himself immensely, "That would be rude, dear brother. I wish to live vicariously through you after all.. It's been too long since I last bedded a woman..." Demetri sighed as if depressed, but truly he felt guilty for joking so freely among his siblings. Katerina had been dead little more than a year after all.

"Besides, it's not like she can't just wear one of the gowns Castiel gave Tanzy if for whatever reason this one doesn't work out."

Demetri chuckled, realizing that they'd apparently hit a nerve. Well, he was mostly snapping at Reiji, but Demetri had been the one that instigated the current bickering. Usually Bishop was his partner in crime at moments like this, but this time his partner would be someone quite unexpected; Mirabelle. He had never teamed up with her as children, but now he wished that he had given his sister better recognition. She was far more diabolical than he had anticipated. The only flaw was her devotion towards Reiji, he simply hoped that it wouldn't make a debauchery of things.

"Besides, I'm not some weak pathetic excuse for a man who can't control himself over something as simple as a dress."

"So you HAVE seen more of her than you're letting on? Do tell, brother!" Demetri whispered in an excitable tone, quirking his eyebrows at Bishop in a goofy manner, the smirk raising now that Bishop had taken the bait, "Any freckles in unexpected places? Around the naughty bits perhaps?" He teased, his tone remaining below human hearing. He didn't want to tarnish his reputation too much in front of the ladies. Mirabelle was his sister, so unfortunately she had no choice but to overhear, because in his definition 'sister' and 'woman' did not hold any correlation.

"So do kindly mind your own damn business. He was talking to me, not you."

"Incredibly unlikely, but we can always fantasize, my brother. Come now brothers, that's enough fun for now. We must move along. Let us pay and get our hair trimmed for the event. I fear that the sun is growing brighter and brighter as we speak, and I do not wish to make a spectacle of myself by turning to ash in front of the entire village." Demetri whispered with a smile across his pale lips as he thought of the scenario. Despite his serious tone and the severity of his words, he still managed to feign a cheerful exterior. Very few who resided in the castle had keen enough eyes to realize that he was putting on a faƧade.

ā€œWell?ā€

Demetri smiled in a delightful manner before chuckling,"Well, well. Camilla, darling, aren't you simply a bonafide young woman?" There was absolutely no trace of sarcasm in his tone, in fact it was quite genuine. Whether she believed him or not was another matter entirely, "I apologize for the frills, but I have to admit you look far more adorable this way." He lightly teased, albeit still sincere in his compliment. His eyes scanned her form once more, a prideful expression on his features as he removed a wad of Spanish currency from his dress trousers. His suit was already at the manor, one that he hand crafted for himself, which he wished to keep as an ultimate surprise. He was incredibly dramatic when it came to appearances and grand entrances, but it was that exact quirk that made him so fantastically unique from his other siblings.

He paid the tailor, and waved for everyone to follow, "Camilla, you can wear that. Just put on the cloak that Jane and Mirabelle have lent to you. Your dress is short enough to not get muddy. I also have prepared stockings to prevent your legs from getting cold. It is still winter after all." He informed his maid, offering his hand to her so that she wouldn't get lost in the crowd, but also so that strange men would know to not look at her twice. She looked adorable and he knew what was inside of the hearts of men. Legally she was of age, but physically and mentally Camilla was still quite like a child. He couldn't take advantage of her like a woman, and he would not allow anyone else to even attempt until she were a few years older, "As I am sure you are aware, there are a lot of men worse than me out there praying to get the chance to abuse a cute young woman like yourself. Please accept my hand, little dove? If only just for my protection." He whispered to Camilla. He waited for her response, then began walking once she decided. Either way he kept a slow pace and a keen eye on his delicate cargo. He was NOT letting anyone lay a finger on this young woman even if his own life depended on it.

They eventually made it to the tailor's shop and Demetri inspected Camilla's hair before turning to one of the hair stylists, "A slight trim in the front, keep her original layers in the back. Only cut the dead ends. I like her long hair." He stated with a smile before gesturing for Camilla to sit in one of the many chairs say in a straight row. After she chose, Demetri proceeded in taking a seat next to her and a well endowed young woman approached the long haired lord.

"Ooo~ Lord Demetri, the usual mi amor?" She practically purred to the flirtatious male.

The woman had long, lusciously curled chestnut locks of hair, accompanied with tanned skin and bright brown bedroom eyes. By their body language alone, it was definitely safe to say that this woman was a past lover of his, judging by how the two 'made eyes' with each other. His eyes lingered on hers for a moment, and despite being quite perverse, his eyes never once shifted to her overflowing corset. He had those memorized so well, he had them down to a science. He would never forget any woman's breas-

"Yes, the usual. Take extra precaution, we have an event tomorrow and I wish to look my best, my dear Annalisa." Demetri replied with closed eyes, completely trusting the woman with his entire being. His guard was so low around her that it was almost alarming. He definitely had a certain level of attachment to each of his amours.

"Of course, I'm sorry to pry. I just wished to make sure master wasn't pushing himself too hard after being so busy recently. I do not wish to see you faint."

Reiji slowly leaned in towards Tanzy as she spoke, refusing her any chance of escape when he lifted her chin up with his left index finger, letting her chin rest on his knuckle. Gazing deep into her crimson orbs with his equally crimson eyes, Reiji purred his next words with a low and sexy tone of voice, "I could show you that you'll faint far before I will from...heat. If you sincerely wish to discuss high temperatures with me." Reiji teased the pinkette maid with narrowed eyes and an arrogant smirk adorning his thin, pale lips.

"It suits her, so what the hell does it matter if it's more traditional?

"Nothing, but while you're over there being modest, we're actually having a bit of recreational enjoyment." Reiji responded in a simple and unaffected tone. It wasn't like the hired help could hear Bishop's insolence, so there was really no need to feel angered by it, at least not today. He felt he was really striking a chord with his baby brother. Not to mention, everyone else seemed to be poking the tiger through his cage. Was there something going on that he wasn't informed of? His eyes shifted to Mirabelle suspiciously, but he decided to drop his supposition. It did not do any good to theorize on pure conjecture.

"I just thought that after an entire year.. that you'd be at least a little more curious about her... Or have you already seen more of sweet little Anise without sharing the details with your favorite brother? That would be rude, dear brother. I wish to live vicariously through you after all.. It's been too long since I last bedded a woman..."

Reiji closed his crimson eyes, letting Tanzy look about the store however she wished. He'd buy anything that she needs, and money definitely wasn't an issue for his family. He wondered if she knew just how privileged that she and the other servants were today? It wasn't often that a noble family bought their servants an entire ensemble.

"Besides, it's not like she can't just wear one of the gowns Castiel gave Tanzy if for whatever reason this one doesn't work out."

"You are a better man than I pinned you for, little brother. I could never allow my dear Tanzy to wear anything that a man she's had past affections for had given her." Reiji made sure to mention, and put specific emphasis on Anise's mixed feelings toward Castiel. She had been the first human to run to his aid after all, and she so willingly offered up her blood to him, despite Castiel having his own personal servant. It didn't take a genius to realize that the ebony haired catastrophe had feelings for his elder brother, and that perhaps was the reason that he could not tolerate her. He knew that Tanzy had a degree of affection for Castiel, but he planned to snuff it out bit by bit, once and for all.

"Besides, I'm not some weak pathetic excuse for a man who can't control himself over something as simple as a dress."

"We were never talking about the dress making you unable to control yourself. We simply meant the extra..skin." Reiji taunted Bishop, the entire time his tone far too hushed for Tanzy's human ears. It was quite fun having full conversations that those around them had no chance in hell of ever hearing, in this lifetime or the next.

"So you HAVE seen more of her than you're letting on? Do tell, brother! Any freckles in unexpected places? Around the naughty bits perhaps?"

Reiji nearly chuckled at this, but managed to keep a straight expression, sans his cocky smirk. Demetri brought the conversation to entirely new level, and Reiji had to admit that he was interested to see how Bishop would respond to the new teasing. This was far more than innocent jabs. Demetri dived straight down, right into all of the dirty adult content. He realized that their sister was overhearing every appalling detail.

"So do kindly mind your own damn business. He was talking to me, not you."

"You wound me, Bishop." Reiji stated, placing one hand over his unbeating heart and clenching at the fabric of his suit that was right above it for a moment. Though he dropped the theatrics quickly, turning his attention to Demetri once more. He was actually enjoying himself far more than he assumed that he would have. Who'd have known a family outing would do the soul some good?

"Incredibly unlikely, but we can always fantasize, my brother. Come now brothers, that's enough fun for now. We must move along. Let us pay and get our hair trimmed for the event. I fear that the sun is growing brighter and brighter as we speak, and I do not wish to make a spectacle of myself by turning to ash in front of the entire village."

"Come Tanzy, we're leaving. Everyone needs to pay and finish up." Reiji commanded to his family and the hired help. His crimson eyes dared anyone to defy him, because he was looking for a reason to wrap his claws around an unsuspecting victim and sink his teeth in. Tanzy was enough as far as sustenance was concerned, but he wished to find someone that he could really dig into. He wanted the careless he once felt, the ability to tear some skin and possibly almost eliminate his victim emotionlessly. He wouldn't find that in Tanzy. He paid for himself and his maid, opening the door for her once the reach the exit. He gave her sufficient time to step out before proceeding through the doorway himself. The streets were far busier, and Reiji ushered for Tanzy to follow him closely, "Wander off on me and our little deal is off." Reiji warned, hoping his threat would keep her close. After seeing Ashlyn, he couldn't help but feel more than a little apprehensive about having her out of arm's reach, especially in a crowd as large as this.

It didn't take long, but they made it into the salon. Apparently Camilla and Demetri were already receiving their cut, so he gestured for Tanzy to take a seat, "Keep her current style, but cut off the rough edges. Precision will be rewarded." He stood next to her chair, opting out of a haircut. His own wasn't nearly as long as Demetri's, for the most part, besides, humans always seemed to mess it up in one way or another. If he needed a trim, he'd have his brother do it before he'd trust any human wench. Speaking of human wenches, Demetri seemed to be getting friendly with the one attending to his hair.

"Yes, the usual. Take extra precaution, we have an event tomorrow and I wish to look my best, my dear Annalisa."

"Never drop your guard around a woman, Deme. They're the deadliest of predators. You don't even realize it, until it's too late." He was speaking of Ashlyn and her sister, but that wasn't immediately obvious to anyone who wasn't aware of her, or his connection to her so many years ago. It was painful, and she couldn't believe that he actually had dropped his guard. She was the first, and the last woman to ever hurt him and live to tell the tale.

A slight smile and a hint of pink graced the cheeks of his favorite maid, the sight enough to temporarily ease any doubts Bishop had on her explanation of simply being tired. He let her eyes linger on him as long as she dared, taking secret pride in knowing he was a fine looking specimen of Spanish nobility. Anise's acknowledgement of his attire suiting his appearance groomed his ego considerably, and combined with her startled and frantic assurances he did not disgust her was enough to slightly soften his mood.

Bishop regarded Anise with an arched brow at her flustered response, only glancing away when Jason presented himself. Even as he fetched the last minute adornments for the butler, Bishop's senses were focused almost entirely on Anise, nodding at her explanation for now. As soon as she was given the go ahead, he noticed with some amusement how the ebony haired girl scurried off to fetch something without hesitation. Obviously she had had her eye on something, and the red head found himself curious as to what type of accessory appealed to her. Nothing gaudy he was sure.

As he began to take out the necessary funds to purchase his, Anise's and Jason's attire, Anise brought over the item that appealed to her, and his eyes lingered on it a moment. The silly girl seemed almost afraid of his reaction. Glancing from the butterflies to the maid's hair, Bishop nodded his approval as he handed over the money before carefully taking the hair piece and handing it over to be wrapped up. "Butterflies, huh? It suits you. Have your obsessive friend do it justice." he remarked, turning to wait for the rest of the household to be ready to leave.

Bishop's placated mood didn't last long, his twin and Reiji once more inciting his temper with very well placed verbal jabs. His eye started twitching in annoyance, glaring at his beloved twin and having half a mind to smack the man. Since when did Demetri taunt him like this? That was their job to do to others. "You're the vicarious one, brother." he remarked with a pointed look and roll of his eyes, able to brush aside the taunt, albeit with more difficulty than usual.

But when Demetri continued his line of assault, Bishop let out low hiss to his siblings, fighting to remain out of the human's audible ranges. Angry and defensive, the redhead found his siblings to be utterly infuriating by this point. Demetri's excited tone coupled with his vulgar probing- regardless of jest or not, was enough to make his temper return with a vengeance. "Dumbass! I swear if you were anyone else I'd kick your ass... I've half a mind to slug you in the face! Stupid!" Bishop snapped at his twin, only to seethe as Reiji of all people continued to butt in. "I'll gut you in your sleep, asshole!" Bishop snarled, Reiji's feigned misery earning a derisive snort. "Clearly I don't wound you enough."

Before they could argue more, Demetri then Reiji headed out towards the salon, prompting the rest to follow suit. Bishop cursed under his breath as he gestured Jason and Anise follow him, his eyes boring holes into Reiji's back.

It was only when they got to the Salon that Bishop actually gave though to one of Reiji's smart ass comments. Smirking, the hot headed vampire all but sneered at Reiji just loud enough for the finely attuned hearing their kind had.
"Your dear Tanzy? You have guts to scorn me for what you think is affection and leniency when you seem to be rather fond of your new toy. Your Dear Tanzy indeed..."

Motioning for Anise and Jason to take seats as well, he all but ignored the flirtatious and attentive eyes that picked him out of his siblings to land on. He tried to recall if he actually recognized anyone from the past, if any of the humans were skilled enough to be remembered. He pointed a different stylist to each of the servants, deciding on a cut.

"Keep hers mostly intact, so long as I can see her eyes and the hair frames her face naturally. Even it out on the ends. As for him...Trim his bangs back just a bit and even it out. Make him look more put together and sophisticated." Bishop plopped himself down between the two servants he was escorting, looking positively bored with the honey haired woman before him, asking in an almost reverent tone what he would like done with his locks.

"Even them out. Don't change style. Trim bangs slightly. Otherwise, leave it be, and don't nick my ears or neck!"

Just as she thought Reiji's teasing was over and she couldn't get any more abashed, Tanzy was once more proven horribly wrong as the vampire lord tilted her head up with a finger under her chin, his tone nothing short of seductive as he spoke. Face burning as red as a ripe tomato, the young woman released a soft squeak of mortification at the possible implications of his words. Her heart hammered in her chest as she all but panicked inside, embarrassed and startled at all the suggestive wording she'd heard in the past 24 hours, directed at her no less! The man was surely trying to make her die of shock.

Even upon being released, Tanzy didn't move about the store to browse, simply fanning herself to try and look composed and normal. Her eyes darted between the occupants of the Santiago estate, finally choosing Anise as a safe object of focus for the time being. Bishop still seemed busy with her friend and the new butler, so Tanzy chose not to interrupt for now. Starting to calm down once more, Tanzy watched Anise fetch a pretty purple hairpiece, smiling at the sight and the mental image of her friend wearing it.

Finally calmed enough to relax and glance around herself, Tanzy found it odd how the Santiago's seemed to be talking, but she could not for the life of her make heads or tails of what they were saying. Once in a rare while she'd be lucky to catch what sounded like the whisper of a voice or maybe part of something resembling what could be a word, but could easily be a sound in the wind or a ringing in her ears. It wasn't the first time the phenomenon happened around the vampires, but it was as uncanny as the first time she ever experienced it. She decided to give up the hope that she'd ever manage to find out what they seemed to be muttering to each other during such sessions.

Tanzy was brought out of her thoughts (and consequently, a lingering concern she might be imagining things and losing her mind), by Reiji's voice instructing her to follow him and his family. She gave a slight curtsy and thanked the vampire for holding the door for her, walking behind the aristocrat.

His warning had the desired effect, the girl nodding and keeping no further than a step away from the male at any time, careful to keep up lest he mistake her for trying to disobey. She didn't bother her new master with 'tedious questions' as master Castiel put them, simply keeping pace as closely as possible until they reached the salon.

Demetri and his maid already seated, Tanzy likewise took a seat as Reiji indicated she do so, offering no opinion or comment on his instructions for her hair. She'd never had anyone besides her mother cut her hair, and the maid was wondering what it was going to be like to go to a professional. She smiled at Anise and waved when Bishop and the two servants with him entered, earning a reminder from the stylist for her to remain still. Apologizing, Tanzy went still as she could be, only glancing over at Reiji with a quizzical expression. Was he going to just stand next to her seat? Did he not want his own hair styled? She said nothing, not wanting to invoke his anger or his teasing, especially not in front of so many people. Eventually, she began to relax as the tension seemed to ebb away with the soft snipping of scissors.

Ashlyn looked into her hands, taking off the stupid gloves and tossing them aside with the hat she so dearly hated. It was so much more convenient to wear mens' clothes and she did it often, when riding, when in her home, when with people she's comfortable with...

Ashlyn stood, finding that the skirts she was in were stifling and she was in need of pants. That, and a way to get into the Santiago's house without Reiji knowing until it was too late. He probably wouldn't be happy. In fact, Ash could almost guarantee he would be angry, furious maybe. Oh well.

Ash composed herself, leaving the gloves and hat as she began walking back to the street. She moved quickly, going to the inn she had rented a room at upon hearing the Santiagos were to come to town. Her house, or manor rather, was a half hour carriage ride and since Ash couldn't ride into town on a horse, she decided on an inn.

Her arrival was greeted with words of hello and welcome. She smiled and gave a courteous smile but didn't stop as she moved to her room on the second floor. It was the nicest inn in town and had recently been upgraded to contain some electricity. It was certainly interesting to see it all considering Ash remembered back when just trains were new.

Ash changed, finding herself having difficulty with the corset and resorting to just cutting the laces using a particular spell she had found helpful in similar situations. The tunic she traded the dress for was much more comfortable and movable in and it allowed Ash to breathe.

Ash walked out of her room dressed as a young man might, though her face was her own. She pulled on the illusion as she walked down the hall, feeling it wash over her. She didn't bother masking her scent or anything yet, just the looks.

She had a new plan. Reiji might not believe her, or if he does, trust her, but another one of his brothers might. Demetri, bless his heart, was someone she could trick if she pulled the right strings. Even Bishop, if there was a particularly annoying person in the household, could be convinced. She considered her options. She hardly knew Mirabelle since she had been so young and with Castiel... With whatever happened to Castiel she couldn't even consider him. One of the twins then.

Ash emerged from her inn and began walking back to the store Reiji had entered only to find it empty of the Santiagos. She nearly groaned out loud. She needed to find them then. She considered her options as she walked back outside. Perhaps waiting wouldn't be bad considering their carriages were still here.

She groaned inwardly, biting back her hiss of annoyance before standing by the carriages and looking as if she were waiting to discuss something rather important. She would need to speak to either twin in the form of the older woman which she held now, then give a reason for her to leave and her son to appear... It would work out. Hopefully.

Jason noticed how Anise seemed so fragile. She couldn't have always been like this, right? Yes she was clumsy and perhaps a bit... gentler, but not fragile certainly. Jason looked at her curiously before he returned his gaze to Bishop as he was awarded the extra trinkets for his suit.

The twins seemed to have a conversation judging by how they were moving their mouths, yet Jason heard none of it, perhaps barely a breeze of a word if he strained though he gave up, finding it wasn't worth it since what he did gain made no sense.

Demetri had chosen a frilly outfit for his new maid and Jason couldn't help but think she looked like one of his younger sisters. He turned to face Bishop, finding the noble was sort of distracted with Reiji and Demetri and Anise still.

Jason stayed quiet, taking in the scene around him and watching as individuals did what they do, keep secrets or tease or more.

Jason, upon Bishop going to pay, followed, though he was gazing at the things around him enough that his pace was more leisure than of joining Bishop. Jason glanced back to see that Anise was bringing up another object, what looked like something to go in her hair. It nearly stabbed at Jason to see her, so like Alice, yet not. Alice was dead. She was gone. He couldn't and wouldn't hold her again and that idea brought Jason's eyes back to Bishop in an attempt to forget Anise looked like her sister at all.

Upon payment, the group moved to a salon that Bishop seemed to know. Jason took his seat as was directed and watched curiously as Demetri flirted with the girl that he seemed to know all too well.

Jason hardly heard Bishop's explanation to the worker of what he wanted done to Jason's hair. Off the bangs made sense and evening out the longer locks wouldn't be a bad thing, so Jason went with it, smiling slightly at Bishop's comment about how he needed yet to be put together. It was true, Jason wasn't going to deny it, but it seemed rather funny to him that Bishop had no qualms about saying it out loud.

If it hadn't been clear earlier, it was clear then. Bishop was not a people person. Jason didn't really understand why he wouldn't want to be, bu he did understand Bishop's want at least.

Jason was quiet as his hair was cut, savoring it actually. Normally, his mother cut his hair and it came out well enough, but she was usually in a hurry and would be doing it by candlelight. This was by someone who did it for a living in broad daylight for money. He glanced over at Bishop, expecting him to be fearful of the money he was spending freely until Jason remembered, he was with some of the wealthiest people in his entire life.

"Well, well. Camilla, darling, aren't you simply a bonafide young woman? I apologize for the frills, but I have to admit you look far more adorable this way."

Camilla raised an eyebrow at that questioningly. She was unsure of his words, as she had taught herself to be suspicious of anyone's intentions. That and no one had actually called her 'adorable' before in her life. Camilla was always a little too rough and rebellious in her nature to be called that, even back when she was a child, frequently getting into arguments and brawls with the other children. Perhaps that was why she never got adopted... Most couples were apprehensive of getting a rowdy little girl for their daughter. Camilla soon gave up hope soon, but she still looked back upon it with some bitterness. "Camilla, you can wear that. Just put on the cloak that Jane and Mirabelle have lent to you. Your dress is short enough to not get muddy. I also have prepared stockings to prevent your legs from getting cold. It is still winter after all." Demetri beckoned for everyone to follow him with a wave, and Camilla could find no flaws in his reasoning to get upset over. Demetri seemed to have thought about everything, she noted as she slipped on the hood once again, fastening the strings skilfully with quick fingers. Come to think of it, it had been a while since she was in a crowd as big as this one.

"As I am sure you are aware, there are a lot of men worse than me out there praying to get the chance to abuse a cute young woman like yourself. Please accept my hand, little dove? If only just for my protection." Of course, she didn't really need it. Camilla understood what he was talking about, of course. It wasn't the first time she had been exposed to the horrors the place hides, but she had always been able to stay just out of sight, with enough protection for others to consider approaching her dangerous. Camilla was sure that she would still be able to protect herself now, if not for the lethargy and nausea being sick had left her with. She had almost forgotten her fever for a second, only for the light headed feeling to come rushing back. As a result, she nodded slightly and slipped her hand into his. Demetri's hands were cold, it's as if there was no warmth in him. An involuntary shudder ran down her spine as she remembered once more just who she was working with. He didn't act like what she had expected, but that was never a reason to drop her guard.

At last, they seemed to reach where they were going and Camilla dropped Demetri's hand immediately. They entered a shop, where people were having their hair cut, and Demetri gave instructions to a woman on how to cut hers before gesturing for her to sit. Camilla sat on the chair the closest to the door out of habit, jut in case she needed to make a break for it.

This was new. Camilla never understood the concept of a haircut before, neither did she see the need to have special people handling hair. Stylised hair is something that mystified her, she left her hair to grow on its own and only cut it down with whatever sharp object she had on hand should it get too troublesome to fight with. The real thing troubling her at that moment was that the barber was holding a pair of sharp scissors, and Camilla didn't relish the idea of having blades held anywhere near her head when she wasn't the one handling them. She glanced next to her quickly to check how Demetri was dealing with this newfound danger, only to find him completely relaxed. Was this supposed to be a normal activity for him? Compared to the attitude Demetri had, Camilla was of a sharp contrast, her body held tensely at attention as the scissors snipped away at the strands of her hair.

There didn't seem to be a way out of this, though she felt a slight sense of unjust seeing that Master Santiago didn't need to have his hair cut. At least he had the right idea about women, though Camilla never knew where he got that from. Perhaps he was betrayed by one before, it might explain his attitude. It was not as if those things were uncommon to her anymore, but she wondered what kind of women would have an affair when she might be engaged to a noble. The world is a big place. For now, Camilla chose not to think about it too much as she settled into her seat and shut her eyes tightly, willing for this experience to be over quickly. She wasn't enjoying it one bit.

"Butterflies, huh? It suits you. Have your obsessive friend do it justice."

The dark haired maid nodded quickly and let out a soft sigh at Bishop's words of approval, a small smile forming on her light pink lips shortly after, "Thank goodness.." Anise whispered under her breath, obviously relieved by his response, once again forgetting that Bishop was able to hear her. She normally would have said Thank God, as she was raised in in a catholic upbringing, but she lost her faith in Catholicism shortly after her arrival at Castillo de la Muerte. However, Anise never officially stated that she was no longer of the faith, it was simply something that she discarded subconsciously. Anise suddenly felt a bit dizzy, so she ran a hand through her hair, noticing that her throat was also quite dry, and that she felt thirst, despite having drank quite a bit of water before her departure. She still wasn't feeling very well, and they were all together in sunlight for the first time ever, so it was easy to forget that the man standing before her was a full fledged vampire of myth.

Anise followed Bishop after noticing his gesture for the two servants to leave the store with him. Anise hurriedly tied the cloak that she was loaned, pulling up her hood once she was outside. At first she followed behind the group rather well, keeping a close and steady pace, but she became somewhat entranced when she noticed a violin shop on the way to the salon. Anise wandered off a bit, just to steal a closer look. She'd seen a violin up close just once, so this was a rare chance she had to take. She absolutely loved the sounds that the instrument made, they were breathtaking, beautiful masterpieces.. As a child she believed that the violin was personally crafted by God himself, at that time there was no other explanation for their glorious sound, at least in the small child version of Anise's mind. Anise however jolted from her adoration and rushed back to the group. She had to run, but she caught them just before they had turned the corner. Reiji was already inside of the building, so she was somewhat confident that he was unaware that she had indulged in one of her few guilty pleasures.

Anise was behind Bishop and Jason again, biting her bottom lip. She wanted a violin desperately, but she sent a huge chunk of her pay to Tanzy's family, a family that needed the money far more than her drunkard of a mother did. The remaining portion was in the envelope that she'd given Bishop. She intended to help support Derrick financially, her first love was someone she wished to have a happy life, even if it was with someone else. Now that she was separated from him, it was becoming quite clear that she used to love him, but it was too late now. She gave up on her feelings for Derrick and properly mourned, realizing that she would never see him again, and came to this decision. Part of her hoped that Bishop wouldn't read the letter, mostly because of her growing feelings for Bishop, but she also feared that he would not deliver the letter if he knew that it was addressed to a boy that she loved and loved her in return. She could already practically visualize his anger.

Once inside the salon, Anise looked around in amazement. Several women were working, which was an odd occurrence, but also they were cutting hair. Anise's hair had been cut before, but never by a professional, it was always Derrick's mother..

Anise couldn't help but feel a bit apprehensive, and was reluctant to sit, despite Bishop ushering for them to do so. Anise let out one shaky breath before taking a seat, but her entire body was stiff, much like Camilla's. Anise didn't feel that she needed a haircut, but she wasn't exactly sure about that, seeing as she didn't get them often. Was this something that the rich did regularly? She noticed that Reiji wasn't getting his hair cut, and a frown immediately formed on her features. Demetri of all people was getting his hair cut, so why wouldn't Reiji? Why was he the only one who had the right to choose? Then a sudden thought struck her; Who said that the other nobles didn't have a choice? Were the servants really the only ones forced to get their hair cut? Suddenly she felt like an animal, she had no rights, and she was here for the noble's convenience.. When a stylist approached, Anise's entire body became incredibly still. She did not want this, at all.

"Keep hers mostly intact, so long as I can see her eyes and the hair frames her face naturally. Even it out on the ends."

It didn't sound like a lot of work, but Anise knew nothing about hair, other than a few tricks to styling it.. She swallowed hard, closing her eyes as the stylist approached and began to snip. With each lock of hair that fell, Anise felt that she lost more and more of her freedom. She was truly just a plaything, as Reiji said. She had no control of where she went, what she ate, or even who she met. Her whole life depended on what the Sabtiago family wanted, and the thought was suffocatingly heavy.

"As for him...Trim his bangs back just a bit and even it out. Make him look more put together and sophisticated."

Anise heard the words, but she was panicking so much that it felt as though she weren't truly experiencing the moment, but instead somehow watching everything from afar. Suddenly everything around her felt surreal and distant. It wasn't until the stylist tapped her shoulder that Anise stirred from her shock.

"Your hair is finished, darling.." The kindhearted brunette sang to the black haired maid, her hand lightly caressing Anise's shoulder, "You were the most well behaved customer I've had. You were so still.. What do you think of your hair, dear?" The bubbly and kindhearted woman asked quizzically, gesturing toward the large mirror before them.

Anise turned to look towards the mirror, gawking at herself in surprise. She had never felt more beautiful in her entire life, and she almost came to tears. This is what a professional could do with hair? She didn't change much, but that little change made a world of difference. Anise truly felt that her physical appearance matched the expensive cloak she was wearing. As she looked in the mirror, she almost forgot that she was a simple servant, because she truly fitted the appearance of nobility thanks to the hair stylist, "I-It's... It's lovely.. Thank you so much." Anise whimpered out, wiping her eyes before her tears erupted from her teat ducts.

"Time for your makeup. Gotta impress that special man in your life!" The woman chimed, leading Anise away from Bishop and over to the women with all kinds of minerals and small containers. She'd never worn a lot of makeup, mostly because it was expensive to make, and deadly if you used the wrong ingredients.

The tall and slightly overweight makeup artist that Anise's hairstylist led her to grabbed Anise roughly by the arm and forcefully sat the thin girl down, "Nice bone structure. You will do nicely." The woman stated in a stern Russian accent, but her smile hinted that she was somewhat pleased with Anise already. Anise wasn't sure what was going on, mostly because her eyes were closed, but her face felt wet at times, then dry. She wasn't sure what this woman was doing, but it felt comparable to witchcraft, considering all the different vials, containers, and ingredients involved.

"You are finished!" Came the Russian accent, and Anise stood, returning to Bishop's side, curious to see herself in the mirror. When Anise saw herself, she was shocked by her final appearance.

"The stylists said that I'm done, Mi'lord... I wonder how she curled my hair..?" She was baffled, and her question was definitely rhetorical. She didn't expect Bishop or Jason to know how the stylists had achieved the impossible. Her mother had tried to curl Anise's hair several times, but Anise got her stubborn hair from her grandmother. Her hair absolutely refused to curl, but somehow the stylists managed to work their magic on those ebony locks of hers. Anise wanted to ask how she looked, but she was afraid of what Bishop might think about it. He was ignoring the advances and adoring looks he received, so she began to wonder if he had a fiancƩ or someone else special to him. It would have made sense, especially since he was gone a lot the year before... She didn't want to ask him for his opinions if his heart belonged to another.

Reiji closed his eyes, quite impressed that Bishop caught his wording. He was starting to wonder if his brothers cared enough to play along with the game at all, "Of course. I meant my words just as I stated them, after all, I did not stutter. " Reiji replied to Bishop in a factual manner, his resolve never once wavering as he responded to his younger sibling, "All of my toys are dear to me, including Miss McNeal." Reiji stated, as if he were truly discussing wooden trains or spinning tops instead of actual human beings with Bishop. Reiji was definitely referring to people, Tanzy in particular. "Perhaps I do not cherish her in the same manner as you value your toys.." Reiji replied in a thoughtful manner, his eyes shifting to Jason, and then Anise. His gaze lingered on the ebony haired maid longer than what would be perceived as normal, simply due to the well known fact that Reiji still wanted to steal a taste of that defiant girl's blood. For now, however, he would just have to wait. His hands were figuratively tied by the legally binding contract he'd signed with his maid, but with Tanzy spying for him, all hopes of a surprise rebellion were for naught. The trade was well worth it, because Reiji valued his position far more than he felt he would enjoy sinking his fangs into Anise's all too frail jugular.

"I simply detest sharing what is mine.. I'm sure you understand, judging by your resentment towards the circumstances I've placed upon you." Reiji explained to the hotheaded Santiago sibling in a soft tone to be certain that none of the servants would overhear.

Anise approached the group, completely finished and he had to admit that she looked quite astonishing. The hairstylist that was in charge of Tanzy's hair was finished soon after Anise's approach, and Reiji smirked. He didn't even tell the woman what he'd wanted done to Tanzy's hair, yet somehow the result was exactly what he'd had in mind. He found the art of hair styling to be truly magnificent.

As the stylist finished Tanzy's hair, Reiji got a good look at her before smirking, "She always does as I expect." He sighed in satisfaction, enjoying the game he played with this stylist. He didn't care to know her name, but ever since he'd returned home, he always got this woman to cut his hair without breathing a word of direction to her, and thus far he had never been displeased. His opinion of her work remained in tact, and he quirked an inquisitive brow, "You've been quiet, love." Reiji commented in an almost sympathetic manner, caressing her cheek with his thumb to move a strand of hair into place, but his eyes told another story. He was simply using the close proximity as an excuse to check her out, "I haven't embarrassed you have I? I wholeheartedly apologize." He mused, his eyes sparkling with a sense of amusement. Though, he had to admit, he preferred Tanzy when she was talkative and squeaky.

Noticing some strange noise outside, Reiji dismissed Demetri, "Go retrieve Mirabelle. I believe our sister needs us.. I've got our maids covered." Reiji responded, rather worried about Mirabelle, but he felt it would be good for his sister to remember her attachments to the twins as well, seeing as she'd missed so much time with Angelo that she'd never get back. He did not wish to monopolize his sister's affections, else others might tarnish his pure intentions with her. He was not her brother by blood, after all. Nothing tied them other than childhood memories. And once, they believed that they were to be we'd. He could still remember the games they would play, including acting out their wedding, during the few times he had time to actually be a child. Her mother kept him studying quite a bit, Elizabeth was spiteful that way, using a child as a weapon to anger Edward.. Reiji didn't realize how cruel she was until he got older, as a child he assumed she was stern towards him out of love, but he was painfully misled.

"Come, we must get your makeup done. No lady is prepared for a ball without makeup." Reiji smirked, showing the two women to the makeup artists. He looked over both Camilla and Tanzy before deciding on what to do with them, "Go easy on the makeup. They're both quite attractive without it, okay loves?" He told both of the women in charge, before letting out a sigh, adjusting his glasses. He couldn't wait to see the final product. This was just as much for the women as it was for the men, the men would get to gawk at the ladies the entire ride home after all. I hope that Demetri returns soon. Judging by that noise, Mirabelle ran into some trouble, or there are some really angry cats outside and our little village needs an exterminator, because that was rather loud..

Although he'd handled Bishop with astonishing grace, the younger male's words began to eat at Reiji's subconscious. Was there a shred of truth to Bishop's point? He noticed he was teasing her quite a bit lately, not to mention his jealousy towards her prior relationship with Castiel.. The vampire shook off the thought, closing his eyes as he felt a grin spread across his lips. It was definitely his lack of rest. He hadn't slept well in weeks, due to his duties to Mirabelle, the family as a whole, and not to mention to their region in general. He was exhausted and decided to blame his behavior on that fact. Reiji mentally deduced that his sexual taunts were simply his own misguided attempts to vent his overwhelming levels of stress. The only logical explanation is I'm using Tanzy as an outlet. I've been using her to expel my pent up frustrations in a positive manner. That's all there is to it, why does that twit think there is more to it? He's overreacting, jumping to insane conclusions. His implications turn a mundane barnyard into the Taj Mahal.

Like his brother and the servants, Bishop subjected himself to the snipping of scissors as the stylist cut his red tresses, the stylist in question attempting to make conversation. Bishop ignored her, eye twitching ever so slightly as he resisted the urge to kindly tell her to piss off and simply do her job. He wasn't here to socialize. Especially not with some buxom woman who clearly was admiring him for nothing more than looks and status. The older he grew, the more it irked the temperamental vampire.
Once upon a time, he would have happily flirted and enjoyed the occasional conquest along with his twin, the two going out and each finding a lady they found pleasing enough. More and more though, his tastes became even pickier than they once were. To solidify his disdain, Bishop realized as his years went by that while everything of young adulthood was fun and pleasantries he went about without a care, the reality was that none of his lovers really wanted him for him. He was a noble, and a good looking one just like his siblings. Women would by vying for his and his siblings' attention if only for the fact that they knew what being associated with, or marrying, any of the Santiago's would grant them. The vampire lord knew that was the name of the game, but it was no longer something he didn't worry himself over. Instead, it made him all the more resentful.

About to brood on his disdain for the general populace some more, Bishop noticed something off about the ebony haired maid a seat away. Glancing at her out of the corner of his eye, he could clearly see how tense she was, and he frowned at the sight. What on earth was going on with her today? What was fretting her so? Was she seeing her sister again? Was she sick? Anise's distress was practically palpable, and for the thousandth time Bishop wondered if he'd ever figure her out and what triggered her swift changes in mood. He hadn't done anything! And he had made sure Reiji hadn't approached her. What other things would stress the human out...

Without any warning, Anise was ushered away to the powder room to have her makeup done. More than just a tad weary about her being out of his sight for too long, Bishop's gaze lingered on her for a few long seconds, only to growl as Reiji opened his mouth.

Even as Reiji also studied Anise for more than an acceptable length of time, the prick seemed too damn smug for his liking. "Right, you care about your toys. Same way you care about your damn dinner and your freaking experiments." Bishop muttered, fists clenching in anger at the next words out of the older vampire's mouth.

"So you get to have what's yours and I have to share? Self-righteous asshole. No one died and made you king. Now stop looking at my servants and go play with your 'dear Tanzy.'" Bishop's voice was just loud enough to be heard by his sibling, but his hiss was no less venomous.

Spared from arguing and picking a fight with the dark haired male some more, Bishop looked at his finished hair and decided it was acceptable. Still ignoring the stylist with her honey colored locks, he glanced over at the sound of Anise's voice, momentarily surprised by the effects of her hair and makeup. She was appealing as she was, but seeing her dolled up was admittedly worth the trouble and the wait.

All but knocking aside the stylist's hand as she tried to smooth out his hair in an effort to linger, he instead reached over to grab a lock of Anise's ebony tresses between his thumb and forefinger, admiring the smooth texture and the slight curl. His lips twitched as a smile threatened to form, though he held it back lest Reiji decide to comment.

"Perfect." he mused with an approving nod, glancing up to look Anise in the eyes. "What do you think? I take it you've seen yourself in the mirror?"

Tanzy kept quiet during her haircut, not wanting to move and be trouble for the stylist. Regardless, she was simply trying to keep out of trouble, and her mind was swirling with thoughts. The Santiagos. Anise. Anise helping her family. The kiss. Reiji teasing her. Reiji telling her she'd never see her family again. Despite her embarrassment at all the taunts and gestures from her newly appointed master, the young woman found herself more depressed than flustered at the moment, especially with Reiji seeming to be occupied with his siblings.

Tanzy was so lost in her thoughts that she almost missed the stylist telling her she was done, gesturing that it was now ok to leave the chair. Tanzy thanked the stylist, about to examine herself properly in the mirror when Reiji's voice caught her attention.

Looking over at him with the swiftness and attention of a well- trained dog (a thought that was more than just a bit unsettling), Tanzy's cheeks flushed pink as the vampire touched her skin with his thumb, feeling a slight tickle against her face as he brushed a stray strand of hair back. He commented on her silence, earning a slight bubble of worry. Had he expected her to talk? Was he upset with her? Watching his features, she was relieved he didn't seem to be cross or displeased with her, simply questioning her.

Despite his apology, Tanzy wondered how sincere he was, his amused eyes not matching his words in her mind. She simply shook her head gently. "I'm sorry, I mean no offense. I didn't want to bother you with 'tedious questions' or the like as Master Castiel called them. I was just thinking. And, I was embarrassed, but it's ok...I mean- I'm ok now sire." Tanzy answered softly, careful with her words lest she anger the male.

About to simply wait for her friend, Tanzy was escorted along with Camilla to the powder room for some makeup. Following a woman as instructed, Tanzy tried to sit still and not squint or flinch when something felt unusual. She had only had makeup applied once or twice before in her life, the last time just over a year ago.

Finally, Tanzy was pronounced finished, the maid staring in awe for a moment at her reflection in the mirror, amazed at the result. She certainly felt pretty, and to see how she could look when accented with hair and makeup, she almost didn't recognize herself.

Upon returning to the group, Tanzy let out a delighted gasp and admired her best friend, running over even as Bishop commented on her appearance. "Anise! You look gorgeous! Oh you're just so pretty!" she gushed, unable to contain herself as she grasped her fellow maid by the hand, eyes full of admiration.

Jason noticed the lack of Anise for a moment, glancing back to see she had stopped at a music shop. He wasnā€™t sure what the instrument was called, but sure it was between viola and violin. He could never tell the difference.

Upon taking his seat, the woman cutting his hair began. He was anxious, nervous of what she would produce. His mother had been the only one to do it until this professional had gotten a hold of him. She seemed inclined to stare at him and Bishop though he was thankful when she seemed to be more interested in staring at Bishop in the end. Jason had no problem admitting Bishop was good looking and the woman too had noticed.

She cut and snipped and Jason held his breath in fear of what would come out. Jason watched Anise for a moment, distracted by her similarity to Alice. When the lady was done, she showed Jason his appearance and had a broad smile on her face, clearly proud of her work. He wondered what could have made her so happy.

He glanced into the mirror, studying his hair. It was different, shorter, just enough to be off his neck and out of his eyes if he had it the right away and she had it just right. As much as he hated to admit it, Bishop was right, it did make him look more put together in the long run.

Jason heard Anise getting led away before looking to Bishop with a raised brow. He smiled at Bishopā€™s appearance as he was permitted to stand up by his own hairdresser. Jason was told to sit back down almost immediately as his hair dresser thought she missed a spot. She worked a few more minutes before finally actually letting him up.

He turned in time to see Anise emerge. His breath caught and he looked away immediately. It was clear Bishop had feelings and though Jason didnā€™t have them for Anise, he felt them when he looked at her from how much she looked like Alice. He turned entirely, walking away a few feet to give the two space.

Reiji and Bishop had spoken yet Jason hadnā€™t heard them and though he wondered what they had spoken about, he wasnā€™t stupid enough to ask.

Jane followed Mirabelle, moving with the girl as Mirabelle moved. She didnā€™t speak much, taking in the sites around her instead as she marveled at the luxuries she had never seen before up so close to her.

Ash found she was growing impatient until Demetri emerged. She practically pounced on him. Approaching with a swift and purposeful walk. ā€Hello lord Santiago. I donā€™t know if you remember me, but my name is Lady Rayna. My husband has recently passed and my son is in look of work. He has been hoping to work as a stablehand or such and I thought you might be in need of a servant or extra hand around your household,ā€ Ash stated simply, as if asking a favor from an old family friend. It would appear that way though it was, it wasnā€™t eh same exactly.

"Right, you care about your toys. Same way you care about your damn dinner and your freaking experiments."

"That is correct." Reiji responded to his brother in their typical too-low-to-hear tone, smirking a bit at the thought. It was amusing that his brother and other siblings thought so lowly of him, but he preferred it that way. It was too dangerous to get close to anyone, impossible to be exact. He couldn't let those he cared about die because of him, he wouldn't allow it. It was fair to say that he treated those he cared about most the worst. He could feel his enemies around him at times, spying, lurking in the shadows. If he showed any sign of weakness, they'd surely use it against him. He was reluctant to even get close to his siblings, but Mirabelle's return brought a soft, vulnerable spot of his heart to the surface. He couldn't contain certain bouts of affection towards his family, his youngest sibling especially.

"So you get to have what's yours and I have to share? Self-righteous asshole. No one died and made you king. Now stop looking at my servants and go play with your 'dear Tanzy.'"

"She's no longer your servant, dear brother. Remember? I relieved you of that obligation. She's simply tagging along with you in Castiel's absence." Reiji teased, eyes glimmering in amusement as his met those almost feral emerald orbs of Bishop's. He loved teasing Bishop, ever since they were children really, mostly because Bishop was the easiest out of the family to get riled up. He couldn't count how many times Bishop has told him to 'go die', so he wasn't too bothered by his brother's words anymore, "Afraid of a little competition? What if I was simply admiring her beauty?" Reiji replied in a quiet, challenging tone of voice.

"I'm sorry, I mean no offense. I didn't want to bother you with 'tedious questions' or the like as Master Castiel called them. I was just thinking. And, I was embarrassed, but it's ok...I mean- I'm ok now sire."

Reiji shot a very dangerous, yet quite dicreet glare towards Tanzy as she said 'Master Castiel', normally his mention wouldn't deem such a harsh expression, but she'd spoke the words that caused him to physically assault poor and unsuspecting Anise. It took every ounce of Reiji's being not to say something, but he kept it to himself, making a mental note to remind and reprimand her for her error. There was only one master of Santiago, and that was him, but also, the thought of being compared to that lowlife left a horrible taste in his mouth. Unable to do nothing, Reiji leaned against a pillar, a sour expression on his face as the elegant man gazed toward the ceiling, "I'm not Castiel, and I do not find questions to be tedious, unless you repeat the same one relentlessly. I am a scientist, I thrive on questions and detest pure silence. So speak up, unless it's about him" Reiji responded, saying the last word with particular malice, a somewhat childlike response, as if he were speaking about his least favorite vegetable. His arms were crossed over his chest, and he did not look to his maid directly, mostly to subdue his anger, but also because he was attempting to hide his jealousy to the best of his ability, and felt that if he met her gaze, she would be able to read him like an open book at that moment.

However, when the maid was pronounced finished, his curiosity bested him. He'd had enough time to simmer down, at least a bit, and his eyes widened for a moment, but it was so fleeting that it was almost impossible to tell that he'd reacted to her appearance at all. The braids and pulled back hairstyle suited her well, and the red tint applied to her cheeks gave her a sensual allure that he could not deny or take his eyes off of. If he'd had a functioning heart, it definitely would have beat faster at this moment, but thankfully his heart had not beat in centuries, "You look quite pleasant. I approve. The look suits you nicely, and makes you appear much more...womanly." Reiji announced, once he'd regained his composure. It only took a single minute, but afterwards, his voice was calm, deep, collected, and sincere. It took him a moment to find how to describe her appearance, but he was happy with his choice of wording, even nodding in approval after he had spoke the word aloud. They returned to the group, and he kept an eye on Camilla as promised, but he wasn't going to remain much longer, he was feeling slightly uneasy, much more so after running into Ash after all these years.

Reiji was not surprised by Bishop's reaction towards Anise, in fact, he sat idly by and watched the events unfold. Apparently Bishop hadn't taken the time to appreciate his former maid, because now Bishop was doing all of the gawking. Reiji smirked at this, quite amused that his brother had fell for the ploy of makeup and a little hair styling. Though Reiji never imagined that Bishop would actually lean forward and touch the maid. Tsk, Tsk.. She is no longer yours to touch, my dear brother. Reiji thought to himself in a chipper and amused manner, closing his eyes for a moment as he took in this moment. He enjoyed this, mostly because he was slowly forcing Bishop to admit that Anise was more to him than simply an 'excellent servant' or 'his property'. Bishop had that luxury, and Reiji coveted it. He forgot what true honesty was a long time ago. He got so used to putting forth a persona, that he actually forgot what his Anima was. Reiji couldn't remember what the 'real' Reiji was even like anymore, just fleeting glimmers of his past and the man, brother, and child he once was.

"Anise! You look gorgeous! Oh you're just so pretty!"

"It's rude to interrupt a moment, even if he is coveting what is no longer his to covet. Come Tanzy, you'll have sufficient time after we return to the manor to discuss wardrobe and beauty." Reiji responded, waving for her to follow him. He had to pay all of the stylists and makeup artists, and he was growing curious as to the noise outside, so he wasn't going to be kept busy for much longer, besides, he was growing quite tired and wished to take a nap, "Mirabelle and Demetri may catch up, we're leaving Tanzy.." Reiji responded in a fatigued tone, paying each of the working ladies before beginning to make his exit.

Once outside, he made quick work of returning to the carriages. He noticed Mirabelle, Demetri and a strange boy, but he was no longer concerned, Demetri seemed to be handling it. Reiji boarded the carriage, waiting for Tanzy to follow him inside. Once she did, he proceeded in shutting the door. With that, they were off, finally returning to Castillo de la Muerte.

Bishop's annoyance and loathing of the man intensified with each word that came out of Reiji's mouth, the red head barely refraining from shouting at the smug asshole and flipping him the rudest of gestures. "'Dear brother' my ass you stupid git....I'm not scared of competition, especially not from a snot nosed prick like you." Bishop hissed back, hating how Reiji brushed aside every insult and simply went out of his way to be the most fucking annoying asshole on earth.

Glaring daggers at Reiji, Bishop soon decided focusing back on Anise was more worth his time, especially since the asshole was back to whatever bullshit he did. Feeling the onyx black hair in between his fingers for a second longer, Bishop finally released it so it was all Anise's once more. Her even thinking her appearance would displease him earned a roll of his eyes. This woman seemed intent on driving him more than just a little batty.

Bishop followed the amethyst eyes of his maid as she glanced first at Jason, and then to the exit of the salon, her question prompting his gaze to linger at the doors himself. Despite his calm demeanor, the red head was admittedly more than just slightly concerned with Demetri out of his sight. While his beloved twin and his precious baby sister were capable of handling themselves, he was wary of them being outside. He himself hated being out during the day, it was straining enough on his nerves, add the ones he cares for to the mix, and uneasiness swam madly in his gut. Damn feelings!

"Yes, everything should be fine. Demetri is more than capable of taking care of himself. Regardless, we shall be leaving soon anyways, and we'll meet up with him." Bishop stood, deciding he may as well fetch Jason and the bull-headed child who now served his twin.

Before he could properly gather the growing number of servants he was handed to babysit for the time being, none other than Tanzy bounded over to praise and admire Anise, earning a frustrated sigh. He wasn't about to snap at the maid unlucky enough to be serving the prick, in part because she didn't cause him any trouble, but mostly because he wasn't keen on seeing Anise's expression become mournful any more than it had been recently. Still, he was obviously not happy with her drawing Anise's attention away from him.

"Yes, her appearance is rather fetching. Run along for now. You can chat with her later when we go back. Relax, she's fine with me, you'll see her at the castle." Bishop tried to not sound too put out as he muttered to Tanzy, lightly waving his hand in a shooing motion.

Gesturing for Jason and Camilla to follow him, he waited until Reiji had left with Tanzy before leaning close to the youngest human, letting a soft hiss into her ear.
"Don't even think of wandering off. You cause my brother any trouble or try to get away, I'll remove a leg, understood? Now follow with the other two and there will be no issues. Don't test me." Deeming this warning good enough, Bishop straightened himself and headed for the exit, ignoring his stylist even as she attempted to bid him a good day. He wanted desperately to tell her to kindly piss off.

Outside in the blasted daytime once more, Bishop approached the carriages with the three humans in tow. As he drew nearer, he frowned slightly at seeing a strange young man in front of Mirabelle and his twin. More people to bother them? Bishop was growing tired of dealing with strangers, but he was pleased to see his siblings appeared to be doing alright as predicted. He pushed Camilla towards his siblings and Jane, not wanting to deal with her any more than he had to. It was only as he moved to stick his hand in his pocket that he recalled the letter. Right, he promised to deliver this oddly heavy letter for Anise.

"Demetri, Mirabelle, watch mine for a minute while I go mail something." he said simply when there was a pause in the conversation, lingering a moment in order to make sure everything was fine. Something seemed off about his sister, and hi quirked a brow at his siblings in a silent question.

As soon as she saw the expression on Reiji's face, Tanzy realized she had made a mistake. His answer only confirmed it, especially with how he refused to say Castiel's name more than once. Even as he looked away and kept his tone mostly steady, his anger at her was palpable. Tanzy shivered at the thought of upsetting him, and her stomach knotted in anxiety. She was going to get herself killed at this rate.

"F-forgive me Master Reiji. I...I know you aren't him." she squeaked, hoping to remedy the situation. "I just...I guess I've become used to not chatting when with the masters of the Santiago house. That...and I don't want to make you angry. Especially if it means I might cause trouble or suffering to someone else..." the more she talked, the quieter her voice became as she expressed herself honestly. She was thankfully spared from further conversation when she was whisked away to get her makeup done.

As she was about to approach her best friend, Reiji got to her first, his words no longer hard and his gaze no longer dangerous. Despite how he seemed to enjoy teasing her, his tone seemed calm and sincere this time, and she couldn't see the usual amusement in them as he did before. Somehow this made her flush just as much as his teasing, the young woman feeling an odd mixture of flattered, surprised, and shy. Womanly? Did that mean she looked girly and young before? She wasn't entirely sure what to think of that, but he seemed to appreciate her look. "Thank you sire." she replied, daring to glance at him and wait to see if he had anything he needed from her before catching sight of Anise once more, hurrying over to her.

Tanzy certainly felt pretty, and hearing Anise reciprocate her own praise of the raven haired girl earned a shy but happy smile from the older maid. Eager to spend time with Anise, she was interrupted for what must've been the tenth time at least this day alone. Bishop wasn't being rude, but he nevertheless was shooing her away. Reluctantly, she nodded, especially at hearing Reiji inform her she was being rude. She apologized, earning a shrug and a nod from Bishop as she obediently followed Reiji's summons. Tanzy noticed her master sounded more than just a tad tired, and reminded of how asking about his physical status had worked before, she immediately decided it would be wise to keep it to herself. Even so, once in the carriage, she glanced at the man in his seat across from her.

"You seem tired Master Reiji...did you wish for me to remain silent and allow you to rest?"

"Hey, hey. Break it up. This isn't something that can be taken care of here. What's going on?" Demetri said, taking the man from her grasp. She attempted to dig her nails in to keep her hold, but Demetri was too quick.

"The hell it isn't!" She snapped, going after the boy once more, only to be pushed away and still utterly clueless about the burns forming on her arms. It was only when she reached again that she noticed and quickly tucked them back under her cloak with a hiss, moving to stand in the shade of the carriages. They have the power of a hundred men, and something so simple as light was enough to bring them down!

"He was there." She growled, a fire burning behind her eyes. "I don't care why he's here or what he's told you. He was there." It was then when she admitted it, that a panic started at the pit of her stomach while reason slowly started to break past reaction. Why was he here now, and why on Earth was he supposed to be in one of their carriages? She could feel her body start to shake as her eyes grew bigger, looking between the both of them. Was she too much of a risk? Did someone find out about her being illiterate? How stupid was she to go back to her family home - the same place she was taken in the first place!

"No, no, no..." She started muttering under her breath. Her fight or flight reaction was starting to turn in the other direction as she moved to take a few steps backwards and away from them. The excuse the man gave Demetri furthered her fear and her breathing halted, leaving her heart pounding in her ears. The boy must have been trying to get in with the family, to get them to trust him so he could get close. Her eyes darted around them before landing back on the two men. She couldnā€™t go after him here again, not with her brother in the way and the other two close by. She couldnā€™t just run and show weakness, but her limbs werenā€™t following her command. Instead, her feet continued to take her backwards until she bumped into Jane, automatically grabbing for her hand and pulling her off to the side, walking quickly.

ā€œI.. I have to go. Iā€™ll meet you guys at home.ā€ She stuttered with her back turned to them, about to take Jane and start the journey home on foot. Her entire frame shook and she struggled to keep at a walking pace for Janeā€™s sake, completely hopeless on controlling her own body. She had no idea that Camilla was there with Jane, or for the fact that Rei and Tanzy left, or that Bishop was there just moments ago.

ā€œWeā€¦ We canā€™t go home.ā€ She said quietly, her hand tightening on Janeā€™s as if the tighter she held, the closer Jane would be to her. She could feel her world spinning as the scent of the boy still lingered in her nose, her mind threatening to attack her with past memories.

ā€œIā€™m sorry!ā€ She cried suddenly, falling to her knees in the grass. She ducked her head between them and covered her head with her arms, curling up as small as she could manage. She was stuck in the past, waiting for the feeling of the whip on her back for trying to escape. She bit her bottom lip so hard it bled, but that was how she coped to make herself deathly silent. Noise always got her into more trouble. All of a sudden she was that little girl again, not the woman who stood with her family the last year and survived the attack of wolves. No, instead she was the little girl they had beaten senseless until she had no will to argue, no will to do anything but do as she was told.

If only she were as lucky as Cassie.

"You seem tired Master Reiji...did you wish for me to remain silent and allow you to rest?"

"Do I?" Reiji asked with a light chuckle, amused by her declaration and the following inquiry. He had surpassed mere tiredness quite some time ago. He was exhausted, but not in the way that humans were exhausted. As a vampire, his body did it require sleep to continue functioning, but mentally he craved the chance to shut off his thoughts. He needed a moment to himself to just bask in silence, but he knew that silence was something he'd given up when he'd became head of house, "Your definition of rest is only a requirement for the weak. I do not require it as humans like yourself do." Reiji stated to his maid as their carriage continued down it's path. His tone was casual and there was no hint of sarcasm. His status as a membe of the undead meant sleep was simply optional. None of Jo's organs functioned so there would be no physical consequence to sleep deprivation. True sleep was something he indeed misse. Vampires never achieved a deep sleep, they could dream, but their sleeping state was quite fragile and easily interrupted, very much like cats, "In fact, vampires do not necessarily have to sleep at all. It's simply a luxury We partake in for mental relaxation and to fit in with normal society." he informed her in a neutral tone. He did not seem angry or particularly happy, in fact he was rather serene. He was far too fatigued to change his mood at the drop of a hat, well, for the moment. Rest assured, his unusual state of tranquility would not last long.

Then as he gave the topic further though, Reiji realized that he had never gotten around to explaining how a vampire's sleep differed from that of human sleep. In fact, there was a lot about his species that he'd never told his maid. There were a few secrets that he would never trust in her care, but he felt that she must know the basics, not to mention the lethal allergy of garlic that all vampires shared, "Have you ever owned a cat Tanzy?" He inquired, his Crimson eyes practically staring into her soul as he awaited her answer. He knew that she came from a rather poor family, but he doubted that her siblings struggled for money considering the generous amount he agreed to pay her family until the day of Tanzy's death. He felt that if they couldn't afford a pet before, her family certainly had one now.

Their payment from Anise's wage and Tanzy's combined was enough to boost them to nearly middle class. If they spent it wisely, they might very well ascend to becoming what royals considered 'new money'. He however doubted that they would invest it very wisely, because most who were raised in poverty weren't very business savvy individuals.

Then his thoughts returned to what Tanzy had said back at the salon. She was afraid of him in every sense of the word, and although he knew that it was necessary, he did wish that she wasn't so frightened. He enjoyed frightening her at times, but he did not wish to be the vector that instilled that fear in her. He hated being the object of her nightmares, something he'd never even considered as an issue until recently. He did not wish for her to be frightened of him, he only wanted his words to frighten her, like the witch trial for example. He didn't mind scaring her that way, but he wished that she wouldn't walk on eggshells around him. He regretted that he could not confess the truth behind his cruelty, but it was for everyone's own safety. He had committed horrible crimes during his time away from his siblings and he knew his existence would sooner or later cease to be.

He didn't care who feared him, so long as it wasn't Mirabelle or Tanzy. He did not wish for them to be frightened of him. He hoped that Tanzy would grow to understand him before the day he died, without discovering his lethal secret of course. He'd take that to his grave, because he would not take the others down with him. His distance was for their own protection. Without a lot of thought to how Tanzy would respond, Reiji leaned toward her from the seat across the carriage and brushed a strand of hair behind her ear. His face was a few inches from her's, but he did not take advantage of her this time, "When I'm done with you, you won't be scared anymore.. You'll be strong." Reiji whispered reassuringly, although it was barely loud enough for his maid to hear. For a moment, there was a warm and soft sincerity in his eyes, but he quickly forced the coldhearted glaze to return to his Crimson irises. He could not show weakness, there were always someone watching him, he could feel it. Thankfully the curtains concealed the inside of the carriage, so as long as he was quiet, this would be okay every now and then.

Tanzy tilted her head slightly at the chuckle, puzzled that the vampire seemed amused by her question. She almost wished to ask about it, but decided it was probably best not to bother him too much. Despite his words that he was not like Castiel and actually liked questions, she couldn't bring herself to go about asking things left and right whenever she was curious or confused. Reiji's explanations of 'rest' and 'sleep' as related to vampires earned him a slight nod of understanding, mentally taking notes with the new information. She supposed that made sense. Thinking of him 'sleeping made her flush in embarrassment, recalling how she had mistakenly disturbed his rest when she was afraid he had gotten horribly ill or died.

Furthermore...why did it scare her to think he was possibly dead? She still had no answer to her own puzzlement.

Her gaze lifted to meet her new master's own crimson orbs as he asked her if she had ever owned a cat. Owned a cat? Why would he be interested in knowing that? It wasn't a weird question it itself, rather, it was simply an inquiry she didn't expect to come from Reiji's lips. Had she ever owned a cat? While she had taken care of cats, they weren't exactly her own or house pets. So logically speaking, she couldn't say yes. The maid shook her head, a wistful smile on her face. She wouldn't mind owning a cat though. "No master, I haven't. I would feed any strays that came by and would watch them, but I've never had one to call my own."

Wondering if he would give her some clue as to why he was curious to know if she owned a cat in particular, Tanzy watched Reiji for a reaction, noticing that he had his look of contemplation once more. Whenever he seemed deep in thought, she saw him looking as he did now. She wanted to ask the importance of the question, but she decided to not interrupt his silent musings. Speaking of his silent musings, was she imagining it, or did he look almost...upset?
Before she could dwell on whether or not she was seeing things, Reiji caught her off guard again, the maid thinking he had been doing so an awful lot lately. Tanzy felt her cheeks burn at the closeness of the handsome male, his touch making her spine shiver slightly as he tucked a strand of hair away from her face. The touch was gentle and his eyes warm, only adding to her blush. What on earth was he doing? Why was he teasing her like this? Despite his closeness, Tanzy had to struggle to hear him, and even then she didn't catch all of it.
When he's done with her? She was almost afraid to ask. "I-I beg your pardon sire? I didn't catch that...y-y-you said something about being done with me?" Had she displeased him? Was he going to kill her? She met his gaze, confusion in her eyes. The words she did hear made her anxious- fearful even. But his tone was gentle and soothing, not at all like his harsh or angry words when she upset him before. Threatening words didn't match the tone he was using now, so what had he actually said?

Despite Demetri's chuckle and composed demeanor, Bishop could tell his twin was starting to get agitated, and not just from the sun. Anxious to be out of the deadly rays of the sun himself, Bishop nodded in assurance. "Of course. I too dislike being warm. I shan't be but a minute. Hang out in the carriage." he said, already starting to walk off. He walked quickly, feeling the sun burning into his neck as he went. He was already a good twenty yards away from the group before Mirabelle began to have a meltdown, easily missing it despite his senses due to his focus on his task. He saw no reason to keep alert on them for the time being, simply trying to go as quickly as he possibly could without arousing suspicion and keeping to the shade.

Letting out a relieved sigh upon seeing the post building, Bishop quickly checked to ensure the stamps were good before handing it off to the uniformed postmen, barely exchanging a greeting before tossing a few coins on the desk and turning around to head back.

Aside from the increasing need to get out of the sun and the anxiety it naturally caused, Bishop managed to make it back to the carriages without incident, glad to see his brother had taken shelter in the safety of the carriage. As he headed for his own, Bishop noticed something seemed off. Why were Anise and Jason not waiting for him in his carriage? Surely they weren't all in Demetri's? Was his brother up to something? Huffing and hating the sun with a vengeance, the redhead marched over to demetri's carriage, his only warning a knock before opening the door.

"Demetri, the hell is going on? Where is Mirabelle? What-" Bishop froze, realizing that everyone except his sister and her maid were present in this carriage, and the strange boy was inside with them. Emerald eyes narrowed at the young man in distaste, ready to interrogate his twin some more when Anise began to struggle.

As soon as Bishop's gaze turned to the maid, she began to gasp for breath, choking out that she couldn't breath before passing out before his eyes. A rare jolt of panic and anger churned in his gut, reacting in an instant.

"Anise! Dammit, what's happening?!" Bishop was about to grab her, but the stranger beat him to it, earning a feral growl. He didn't have time for foolish humans getting in his way! Ready to tear the ebony haired girl out of the strange boy's hands, said stranger began to speak regarding Anise's condition. A fever, and....she needed Reiji's help? Suspicion, anger, and worry instantly seized his mind, and Bishop grabbed the stranger by the collar and shook him.

"Who the hell are you? How do you know Reiji? You're hiding something dammit, and I want to know what! Now TALK! And what do you know of what's wrong with her?! I swear on my grave I'll kill you right here if you don't start explaining you little shit!" Bishop snarled angrily, eyes livid.

"Anise! Dammit, what's happening?!"

Demetri reach forward and touched Anise's forehead, nodding in agreement, "She does have a fever... She's burning up actually.. There is a logical reason for this, trust me." Demetri explained as he began undoing Anise's black dress, revealing her white nightgown-like dress underneath. Typically it was taboo for a woman to be seen in such a state, but he knew that she needed to shed as many layers as possible. He was glad that Anise was out cold, because he couldn't argue with her and his soon to be fuming brother. There was no time for childish jealousy however, seeing as removing that hot dress would help lower her fever exponentially, "It will cool her down."

"Who the hell are you? How do you know Reiji? You're hiding something dammit, and I want to know what! Now TALK! And what do you know of what's wrong with her?! I swear on my grave I'll kill you right here if you don't start explaining you little shit!"

"We don't have time. I promise you that the boy had nothing to do with her illness... I personally set the boy's hand myself." Demetri tried to explain to his hotheaded brother. There was no possible way, especially since the boy had a broken hand and all. He knew that the situation did not look good, but he had to speak some sense into his twin. They were wasting valuable time arguing when they could get home to Reiji and possibly save the girl's life as the boy had said. Though he was curious as to how the boy knew Reiji as well. He would have plenty of questions prepared for this strange boy when they arrived at Castillo de la Muerte.

"Sh-She's not going to die, is she?"

"Of course not.. Don't fret, little dove." Demetri couldn't stand seeing the expression on his maid's face so he smiled to Camilla attempting to reassure her with a strong and assured expression, he reach over across the carriage ruffling her hair between his fingers for a moment. He knew that his plan was dangerous, for himself in particular, but there was no other option. He wasn't going to allow Bishop's maid to die right before his brother's eyes. His brother and his maid were both experiencing emotional pain from this so he had to step up. Demetri couldn't do much for his family, but he did know how to ride a horse and drive a carriage.

Reiji stepped out of the carriage, looking back to everyone inside "I'm going to drive us back. The carriage driver is nowhere to be seen and Anise doesn't have the time to wait. Everyone hold on tight, this is going to be a bumpy ride." He informed everyone inside, looking to his twin brother with an apologetic look. Even though this wasn't his fault, it happened while Anise was in his care. Demetri had no way of knowing that Anise had been poisoned hours before. He then mounted the seat at the front of the carriage, taking the reigns in his hands, "Get in, brother. She doesn't have a lot of time. You can interrogate the boy on the way, but try not to kill him. I have questions of my own." He stated with urgency in his voice. Time was of the essence and he was in a hurry to get moving. Every minute was precious when it came to saving a life, his time in the Spanish military had taught him that.

Once everyone was inside of the carriage Demetri set the carriage in motion. They shot out of the town as fast as the horses could drag the carriage, and Demetri felt bad about leaving Bishop's horse behind, but it was for Anise's sake so he didn't mind going back to retrieve it later, or buying his brother a new one entirely. Anise's life was more valuable than money or a mere horse, because she was one of the only people that Bishop seemed to genuinely care about, humans and vampires alike.

The carriage stormed across the dirt road, shaking and bouncing against loose rocks along the path. This was the fastest that Demetri had ever ridden a carriage, but the only thought in his mind was getting everyone home alive. He couldn't do anything for Kat or Alice, but this time there was something he could do. For once, he could protect someone with his own two hands, and he felt empowered for the first time in over a year. It felt nice to not feel so vulnerable and weak.

He pulled on the reigns as they pulled into Castillo de la Muerte, right behind Reiji. The horses stopped, exhausted and angry with Demetri, but he didn't care. He hopped out of the seat, immediately knocking on Reiji's carriage, "Reiji! Anise is sick. We need to get inside!" his voice was desperate and panicked as he spoke, his words flying out nearly at the speed of light, and he did not bother to repeat them. He had too much on his mind and there was too much at stake.

Demetri sprinted back to the carriage everyone else was in with Vampire speed and swung the door open, "Get her inside!" she told Bishop, ushering for everyone to quickly follow him as he sped to the front door, opening it with his skeleton key before entering, clearing a table off with his arm. He watched the tea set and vases shatter, but he didn't care. He placed the white table cloth back on the table, "Get Anise on the table? Where is Reiji?" Demetri asked, before collapsing into one of the nearby chairs. His skin was red and hot, and in several places he had third degree burns. The bone showed in some places, but it began to heal, albeit VERY slowly. He needed to feed, soon. His healing was far slower than that of his siblings, not feeding properly since Camilla had come to be his servant, refusing to feed from her without her permission. He wasn't a monster, well, he wasn't a rude one at least...

Jason was rather surprised when Anise collapsed. He watched as the boy beside her declared her to have a fever before Demetri confirmed it. Jason wasnā€™t sure if this quantified Jason restraining the boy. If Demetri didnā€™t then Jason probably didnā€™t need to help.

Bishop appeared and was not happy at the sight before him, that much was clear. He was very, very unhappy really. Jason was surprised to hear the boy say Reijiā€™s name, but didnā€™t speak up, sure it would only make Bishop more angry or stressed.

Jason moved to catch Anise if she had fallen when Bishop grabbed the boy but was surprised to see the boy managed to keep Anise up even though he had been grabbed rather roughly away from her.

The youngest maid looked nervous from her seat about the situation. Demetria addressed her concern, but Jason looked over and gave her a smile and shake of his head, indicating she wouldnā€™t die. It was possible of course, then Jason realized what was happening. He was losing Alice all over again. Jason froze, his chest physically ached and he felt as if Anise before him was him watching Alice leave him one last time.

Demetri stepped up and declared they had little time. Jason wanted to argue, and even spoke up to do so, ā€Lord Demetri,ā€ Jason began before Demetri was already gone. The carriage ride was fretful and Jason couldnā€™t help but wonder how Demetri could possibly steer a carriage as he was without the entire thing breaking or falling over.

As the carriage stopped outside of the manor like house, Demetri ran to get Reiji while the rest of them exited the carriage. Jason could see Demetri was covered in burns and wasnā€™t doing much better than Anise other than the fact that he was conscious. Jason, upon entering, felt oddly out of the loop considering he wasnā€™t sure if he should step in to assist or back to allow the family access to Anise. Jason stepped further back than the others and ran a hand through his hair, freaked out. He didnā€™t even go to Demetri to see if he was alright, instead, staring at Anise in nervousness for her and her health.

Bishop appeared and Ash knew things were going to become more complicated. At least Demetri had the classiness to focus on Anise getting better rather than the odd parts of the situation, such as Ash.

She was studying Anise, trying to see any other indications of what could be causing the girl harm when Bishop grabbed her. Ash wanted to push him away but refrained, knowing heā€™d likely just push her back and considering he thought her to be a boy at the time. Ash realized how bad the carriage ride would be with Bishop in here. He wouldnā€™t be extreme with the others in here, but Ash wasnā€™t sure what heā€™d do, she hadnā€™t seen him in so long, people can change daily, imagine a change in many years.

Ash managed to keep her leg touching Aniseā€™s so that she could keep the girlā€™s throat open as much as possible while holding the illusion of her appearance. Any magic going into trying to keep Ashā€™s hand from hurting her was no longer there and the pain was bad, but not unbearable and not the worst she had ever felt.

ā€Iā€™ve known your brother for years. We once discussed medical practices together since I was looking into becoming a physician and he wanted to see what I knew,ā€ Ash explained, her tones similar to Bishops though hers was quieter. She had never been afraid of Bishop, rather, afraid of what his temper would lead him to do. She wasnā€™t fearful of either at the moment though she knew she probably should be nervous. Someone was in a bad condition and that was far more worth drawing her attention to rather than what Bishop could do to her.

ā€Question me later when you donā€™t have a girl struggling to breath. What you donā€™t realize is if we donā€™t keep her steady and move her so that the most air is available to her, she might not even make it back to your home,ā€ Ash bit back. She pulled away from Bishop, using his hands away before moving to tilt Aniseā€™s head back to allow her throat to be aligned and oxygen to flow through more.

Ash had no issue being so close to Anise in her white nightgown considering Ash was a girl herself and had one on only a few hours ago. She had risked everything helping the girl, the family knowing who she was, the family figuring out she wasnā€™t as she seemed, and the fact that Bishop could very well lose his temper towards her.

The youngest maid was nervous and Ash didnā€™t glance up from where she was to say anything. If they didnā€™t get her back to Reiji in time for Ash to consult then her use of magic would exhaust her and Aniseā€™s throat would close entirely until she suffocated most likely. It was a race against time and only Demetri seemed to recognize that. Ash caught Demetri not telling the truth though to the girl and was thankful for that so that the girl wouldnā€™t be overly stressed and distracting to the task at hand.

Ash nodded her approval to Demetriā€™s plan though she was sure she wasnā€™t a part of the decision, forgetting this family didnā€™t know her anymore and therefore couldnā€™t care less about her thoughts. Ash nodded her understanding to Demetriā€™s words. She motioned for the butler on her side to scoot to the other side of the carriage to give Bishop the option of sitting across from Anise or right next to her. He seemed the most concerned for her for whatever reason and Ash couldnā€™t help but wonder if there was something more there.

The ride was hard and to keep in contact with Anise the entire time while satisfying Bishop was difficult. Ash could only answer so many questions while focusing on so many things without giving herself away entirely. She took it all in though, allowing Bishop what he wanted and needed to satisfy him, knowing if she didnā€™t, he would realize Ash was touching Anise though it varied from her hand to her leg to her foot touching the girl so as to not draw attention to it.

The carriage stopped outside of Castillo de la Muerte and memories ran through Ash with wave of emotions. She paused slightly as she exited the carriage before getting out and moving aside. They were with Reiji now and that meant that he would recognize Ash needing to be near her and make the accommodations for that to happen, or work his own version of magic to help her and keep her alive.

Ash reached for a pillow off a nearby couch before tucking it under Aniseā€™s head as she was laid on the table. Ash noticed Demetriā€™s wounds but knew he wouldnā€™t her to help him until Anise was stabilized. At least, if he knew who she was he wouldnā€™t want her to help until then.

Ash could tell Demetri hadnā€™t fed properly for some time. He acted as all the brothers did when they hadnā€™t fed properly and had gotten hurt, somewhat lethargic in the way their body fixed itself. Ash somewhat wished she had that ability, to self heal without it taking magic, but it wasnā€™t something she had been blessed with.

Ash took a deep breath before dropping the illusion for Reiji but nobody else in the room. If he saw the odd boy, he might guess her appearance anyway since not many noble boys took to physicianing and had the knowledge as she did already. Ash didnā€™t know how Reiji would react and was somewhat nervous but was still focused on the girl, Anise, that she didnā€™t care enough what he would do. He wouldnā€™t kill her for sure until Anise was stableā€¦ Right?

ā€Her throat is trying to close,ā€ Ash explained as she looked down at the girl. If only Ash could study her more, and closer, it would tell Ash more and possibly help her determine what was wrong with the girl, but she was sure Bishop and the others wouldnā€™t want her so close though Reiji would know, however, if he didnā€™t trust her, it was likely he would just push her away.

"No master, I haven't. I would feed any strays that came by and would watch them, but I've never had one to call my own."

"Really? What a shame... Although pets can bring us great saddness, they can also make life seem quite fulfilling." He recalled the one time that the Santiago children had requested a pet. Demetri and Bishop had brought home a puppy, but Edward refused to let the boys keep it. The boys begged, so for a few days he allowed them to feed, play with, and care for the dog. One day, after a heavy rain Edward retrieved the pup and tied it up in a bag and threw it in the nearby lake. Castiel had nearly drowned trying to save the youngest brothers' dog. Thankfully that was so long ago that Mirabelle could not remember, but Reiji still remembered his eldest brother coughing water from his lungs and the sobs of his two youngest brothers. That day Edward taught the boys a valuable lesson that stuck with most of them even to this day. They learnt to never place one's love in something as fragile and as fleeting as a mortal life. None of the boys asked for a pet ever again.

"I-I beg your pardon sire? I didn't catch that...y-y-you said something about being done with me?"

Reiji immediately blushed, feeling as though she'd made a fool of him. He turned his gaze outside and leaned back in his seat, "Nevermind what I said. I am a Lord and I shall not repeat myself!" His tone was quite defensive, but definitely nothing like the danger that Tanzy had misunderstood there to be. He was quite embarrassed now, not that he would ever admit something like that. Before Reiji had the chance to grow irritated with the maid, Demetri knocked on the side of the carriage like a madman, but his words soon explained the hasty action.

"Reiji! Anise is sick. We need to get inside!"

Reiji swung the door open, zooming out, but stopped halfway to the entrance, looking back to Tanzy, "Come Tanzy. Time is of the essence if you wish for your friend to live." Reiji beat his brother inside of the house, but only to retrieve several basic herbs from his room. He wasn't sure what was wrong with Anise, but he brought down several different herbs that could help keep her alive depending on her symptoms. Though the herbs he had at the moment would only prolong the inevitable if they did not locate the source of her illness.

"Get her inside!"

He heard his brother commanding everyone, and Reiji began crushing up a mixture to ease Anise's pain, seeing as he was not sure what her most dangerous symptom was, yet at least. Reiji enjoyed botany, and now everyone would finally understand the usefulness of such a skill. While his other brothers learnt to play instruments or to tailor clothes, he had actually learnt a skill that could easily save lives.

"Get Anise on the table? Where is Reiji?"

Once Anise was placed on the table, Reiji forced her to swallow the mixture of herbs by drinking it himself and passing it along through Anise's lips, practically a kiss, yet for a much more serious purpose. He did not even glance in Bishop's direction, uncaring whether his brother was enraged by the 'kiss'. He realized that there was a blockage, so he immediately began mixing another concoction of herbs, "Her throat is rather tight, if this persists she is going to suffocate and die this night. If we wish to prevent that from happening, we must identify the cause." Reiji's voice was stern as he spoke, yet it lacked his usual cruelty. Despite somewhat loathing Anise, he was treating her gently and with a considerable amount of scrutiny.

"Bring me every chalice, book, and spoon that has been touched by this maid..... This girl has been poisoned and I believe one of us is next." Reiji ordered, waving off the servants. Once his second mixture reach absolution, he poured it into his mouth as well and forced it down Anise's throat with the same 'kissing' method. He wiped his mouth afterwards, eyes landing on Ash. He immediately recognized her, his eyes narrowing a bit, "Make yourself useful....boy." He hissed, pulling her over to Anise. He knew that Ash had similar abilities, but hers were towards the magical end of the spectrum while his were through natural roundabout means such as potions and herbal remedies. When no one was looking, Reiji tugged Ash toward him, "If you did this, I'll mount your head on a pike for all to see." He whispered directly in her ear, his harsh words spoken so softly that not even his brothers would be able to eavesdrop on the conversation. Reiji. Was. Not. Happy. At. All.
