What did you do before you put out the light? Whatever it was it's long gone and now is the time to fight for your life because things lurks in the dark you know, just waiting for their chances to have their fun. And to put it simply, you are that fun.

Introduction

Caught in a Nightmare

What did you do before you put out the light?

Read a good book, argued with your lover, studied before a really important exam? Whatever it was, maybe you should just kept on doing that. The least smart thing you did tonight was turning of that light and crawling down under your cozy sheets. Maybe it felt like a great idea in the beginning, being able to relax, letting go of everything and just fall asleep. Well, that was until it happened.

Suddenly, standing in a completely black ocean, nothing could been seen. Was it a room? Did you even have anything around you? How could you know what was in front of you when you can’t see? Maybe it was just a dream, a nightmare, a strange nightmare. Feeling cold, feeling nervous and somewhat curios. Wanting to get out of that dark room, taking a step forward, trying to find the light switch. But there is no light switch, there is nothing around you. Falling down, falling forever. It could have kept on forever, afraid of hitting the ground, thinking you should be waking up by now. Because that’s the way nightmares work, right?

But no, not this one. You just kept on falling, hitting the hard ground. The soggy cold ground. Dazed you rise up looking around, where are you? A graveyard? What kind of dream… nightmare is this? You should be awake by now! Hearing the thuds around you, looking down and seeing three others wail on the ground after the hard fall. You all look equally astonished, not knowing what the heck had just happened to you.

But you’re not alone on that inhospitable graveyard, you were being watched by some others. Sitting a short distance away watching you closely. This was surprising for them too, because all of them had been alone for such a long time – some shorter than others however. Being alone, wondering if this really was that heaven people had told them about, because they were dead. And they are your only way out of this land. They are your guides but, do they really want to guide you? Well give them a damn good reason to do that then! Fool them, charm them or just try to survive on your own if you think you can do that. But look out because those peo- things are not the worst things out there. This is the land were all nightmares comes from. So all creatures created by fear are lurking in this strange kingdom and what wouldn’t they do just to have something fun to do. Well, you are that fun thing so watch your back well.

Image

So you want to know a little bit more? No? Well either way I am going to explain how this strange thing works and how it happened.

By falling asleep the humans got sucked into another dimension, not their physical body but their mind. So their souls are trapped in the land of nightmares, but it’s not only theirs souls who are caught. Those dead guys, they are kind of trapped to, it’s not their physical bodies either but their minds as well. They were supposed to travel to the afterlife but got stuck on the way, being trapped in a lonely prison they can never get out from, being all alone – until now. What has happened to their mind after what happened to them, all alone for what could be decades and now suddenly some people who are not even dead just happened to land on their graveyard. Brining a lot of troubles.

So your soul is stuck in another dimension with a bunch of spirits of dead humans and creatures created by the fear of man, how do you get out? Well there is an exit, but you just have to find it and get there. In one piece.

If you do that, you survive, you get to live your normal life again. You will wake up from this horrible nightmare. Or is it really a nightmare? Yes it is a struggle but on the way, don’t you get close to each other? Aren’t you friends in the end, maybe not, you might as well kill each other’s in the end because you can’t take the pressure.

Well if you do find the exit sign flickering over that lonely door in the distant you can get out, it’s just a simple door. Looking like every other exit door you have seen, will you get there? Will you be able to leave, do you want to leave? Well it’s your choice, just try to keep your head on while traveling okay.

The Humans

Image

Well they are just unlucky fellows who got dragged into something they actually can’t control at all. They can be from anywhere in the world, in any ages, with any background. Hey they can even be bank robbers if you want that! But they must come from our time, no sci-fi and no medieval characters here.

The Dead

Image

They are neither zombies nor ghosts, they are just souls of people who died that got caught in this land of horror. You can touch them since they have the same form as the humans and the other creatures - spirit form, a form that can’t be seen by a normal human but lurks in your mind either way. They can’t be killed but they do feel pain. These characters can come from any time you want except the future, they could have died hundreds of years ago or just yesterday.

The Nightmares

Image

These creatures can have any form, they can be animals and they can be human like – with other words anything you want. They can use magic if you want them to, but the magic they use should be connected to what kind of nightmare they represent! Well only your imagination can prevent you on this, they can be any kind of monsters (vampire, werewolf, bogeyman, the creature under the bed). Just have fun making up some monsters.

Just a little last thing I want to tell you before you run away and start to plan out all your strange and wonderful characters.

If you play as a human in your first post you should be writing about that person’s last night in the real world before ending up falling down into the graveyard. It would be a lot more fun that way. You should include the crashing down on the ground part however and after that you can do whatever you want!

If you play as a dead person your first post should be – just like the humans – started before the others appear before you, give us a taste of that person’s lonely thoughts and reactions when he/she suddenly isn’t so lonely anymore.

If you play as a nightmare you can start your post doing whatever you feel like there is no restrictions for you.

  • Godmodding is under no circumstances permitted.
  • I would prefer it if we get by without Mary Sues.
  • If you want to join this RP then reserve a spot, don’t just send in a character from nowhere.
  • But the reservations only last for some days, if you don’t even have sent in a WIP by that time I will take your reservation away.
  • Literacy, proper grammar and spelling are a must. Please post at least a minimum of three decent paragraphs per post. Otherwise we'll most likely get stuck very quickly.
  • Please be friendly and show respect towards all fellow role players. This should be a given, but I'll say it anyway. Drama within the RP is encouraged, drama in OOC is completely forbidden.
  • Romance is also encouraged if you want that, but if it's getting a little too intimate I would like you to either move your conversation to PM, or fade to black.
  • This is a different kind of adventure RP and there will certainly be battles and close to death moments but those should be discussed BEFOREHAND, I don’t want people being angry because they didn’t get to do it the way they wanted it to. So please discuss those things in here Plot Discussion so no one gets hurt.
  • Please don't join and then never come back. If something should happen and you become incapable of posting, please notify me. It'll be easier that way, for everyone.
  • If you want to play two characters you can’t choose to play two of the same gender. Nope, one of those characters should be male and the other female.
  • Last but not least I hope for you to have fun and use your imagination!

Mary Rose Carew

You should just give up, I know you want it.

Mary Rose shook her head avoiding to fix her eyes on the creature in front of her hunching forward with rotting flesh, “No.”

You know you want it, it's tiring right? Being all alone. Being betrayed by your sister. Dying. The creature smiled, showing of its sharp and crooked teeth.

“She was not my sister, which was only the title society gave her. We had nothing in common but father and she never took care of him. I did all that by myself, she do not deserve to be titled as his daughter.”

Oh but she's the only one left now. You are forgotten, papa's favorite doesn’t exist anymore.

“Quiet!” Mary Rose stood up shaking with frustration, “Quite! I do not want to hear anymore! You are wrong! He do remember me! He do miss me! Charles misses me too! He never liked Anna! He liked me more!”

That is only what you told yourself while trying to convince the smarter part which said what you did was wrong that it was mistaken. If he liked you more why were you the shameful secret while she was his wife? You always knew he loved her and you were only an entertainment at the side, a guilty pleasure.

Mary Rose put her hands over the ears and shook her head more violently. “No, no, no!”

The creature approached her slowly, Shh it's okay. I can take over you know, no more pain and no more worries. The hands with flesh falling of them were placed on Mary Roses cheeks forcing her to look into the big gaps where there were supposed to be eyes. No more of anything. You can finally relax and let go. You don't need to feel lonely, you won't feel anything.

“Stop this Katarina, I do not want this. You were supposed to be my friend.”

I am your friend, your best friend. Your only friend.

“If this is what your friendship is like I do not want it. Leave me alone.”

The dirty nails pierced her skin while the creature made a sound that pierced everything, making goosebumps appear on the skin. Mary Rose wriggled out of its grip and took a few steps backward. “Leave me alone!” She turned around as fast as she could while picking up her skirt so she could run. Or run and run, it was more like waddle since the soggy ground made her slip but she tried her best to get out of there fast. But she didn't have anywhere to run, everywhere she went Katarina followed. It was an endless cycle.

Giving up after a while Mary Rose sunk down in front of her headstone. It was the same routine every day, never getting away. Well it was never day here, neither was it night. It was a constant gray darkness, the cloudy sky never showed what was above it. Maybe there wasn't anything above it. Who knows? Mary Rose sighed and started avoiding looking at Katarina again, trying to shut out her words but it’s hard to shut out a voice inside the head. It echoed in there, never taking a break, never leaving her alone.

“I wonder how it was to sleep, I can not remember. I guess it was relaxing, if I could I would sleep forever so I could escape you.” She sighed again looking up at the heavy clouds, it looked like it was going to rain. Well it looked like that all the time anyway.

Well there you are wrong, you wouldn't get rid of me by sleeping. I just follow you in there instead. And if you think about it, aren't you sleeping already? You are dead, the endless sleep.

Mary Rose gazed at Katarina for a while and got a troubled expression on her face, “I guess you are right.”

The creature nodded with satisfaction and Mary Rose posture got even more hunched. What was the meaning with caring about that either way, there was no meaning for anything. Everything was just pointless. She despised it, there was no meaning to be alive. Oh… Right she's not alive. There was no meaning with existing, why did she even exist. What was the point? She was dead, she was supposed to be in her endless slumber – or heaven – but this was neither of them. Why was she punished, she couldn't understand it. While sighing again she leaned her head against the headstone, covering her name and the date she died. She didn't like to see it anyway, she avoided looking at it. Being disgusted by the dates, there was supposed to be more years between them. But no. There weren't.

“Maybe it will rain soon.”

Big chance, it never does.

Mary Rose were quiet for awhile, “Right…”

It rained. Hanataro Iku laid within his night sheets and listened to the water drops clattering on the roof which kept him awake for several hours. It was another one of those days, where sleeping wasn't a solution, or rather an escape route, to choose from. He had to keep staring at his tatami mat floor, continue thinking. Thinking about his sweet shop, his future; but also soccer. He truly hated those nights; the rain distracted him. Made him think of unnecessary things he needn't to waste his thoughts on. Actually, he didn't understand himself in this special regard. Probably through the influence of all surround him; or just because he's getting old? Perhaps the lady from next door was right -- he really should find himself a girlfriend sometime. A light apologetic grin showed itself on his face which kind of meant that he knew he won't do such thing. Going for something with half-hearted feelings and ulterior motives weren't really anything he would do.

Thus Hana closed his eyes and slowly, the sound of the rain fall back to behind... until it was completely vanished from his mind. At that time he didn't know that a play of destiny will change his life forever.

It was a cold and muddy feeling. A distracted frown appeared on his face and quickly a hand went searching for the blanket which apparently wasn't there any longer while his eyes were still shut, stubbornly refusing to open themselves. From several hand stretching movements it suddenly stopped. Hana grew tired and thus he went for the second plan. To escape from the cold ground, he crouched there, taking his legs together on his chest and hugged them tightly. Yet the cold did not fade.

Where was his blanket? But more importantly, why was it so cold? It was summer season, right? He remembered that the yesterday was so hot, several kids and other passers-by who never bothered to visit his little shop came inside to cool themselves down and eventually bought ice cream and some sweets along their conversation. It was pretty nice; Hana honestly favoured warm days. It meant more customers.

The coldness started to spread, sought him to below his skin so much, he couldn't see any other way and thus opened his eyes. Darkness was surrounding him, not really blind blackness, but dark enough to make him feel insecure right in that same second. Plus, everything appeared so strange... so foreign... he wasn't used to this kind of feeling and urged for something he can refer to. Yet, nothing. Blinking surprised, he hoped for this to be a bad joke but it wasn't. The scenery of darkness, which gave off something like a graveyard similar feeling, was unchanging.

Whilst not understanding a thing about his current situation, he sat up from his lying position and noticed the earthy wet ground. Heck, where were his bed sheets? No -- where the heck was he? Suddenly there was like an ahah effect while he sat there in the correct way of sitting in japan (seiza) where he was kneeling on his own lower legs, with the feet under the buttocks, toes pointed backwards. Yes he knew the answer to the problem: Simply, he was dreaming. A creepy dream, but the thought that it was merely a dream comforted him tad bit. At least, for awhile.

Patiently, he waited for the dream to be over. To somehow awake himself with silently pinching his cheeks or pressing his eyes close. Yet whatsoever he may try, it did not work. Panic overcame him. He wasn't used to display much emotion, but one is able to see that frustrations might as well get the best of him soon. He needed to wake up. To feel secure again... but his wish did not come true. He stayed right on the spot, still sitting in that overcorrect way with his back straight (which truly looks weird for a random observer definitely) and had that frustrated glare on his face which probably may cause assumptions that he was going to do harakiri (suicide) in any second.

However, it never came close to such. Instead, he stood up. The cold was still bothering him, as he was wearing his usual night wear (which was a simple yukata) without having the sash which wrapped around his body, which on the other hand makes his wear loose and allow more cold to enter. No, he was definitely not in any kind of ideal condition to be facing this kind of situation. Still not wanting to accept what he saw, hoping that everything is still a dream he went for a nearby tree. Slowly, with shivering hands he touched the bark of that tree and felt that realistic feeling. Are you kidding me?

Suddenly, anger got the best of him and with brute strength, he kicked the tree just like that, hurt himself in the process then leaned on the tree to calm himself and slumped down to the ground. The pain from the kick wasn't as hurtful as he thought it'd be, yet it was burning like the injury he had back then. A sigh escaped his lips, as he gazed above. Black clouds were covering the skies, gave him neither hope nor any clue of what is happening. Eventually he looked around, meeting nothing but lonely naked trees and unknown range of darkness. At least, the earth here is not wet and cold; so his thought to keep being optimistic despite everything.

"The bulk of the blizzard is cutting across Quebec now - expect subzero temperatures in northern regions..."

The newscaster's voice faded into static, the howling wind and unrelenting storm outside probably interfering with the signal. Flakes of frozen snow battered against the windows, piling up against the doors outside. Even past the storm's cry, the bustle of the air strip could be heard as hunters, pilots, or anyone else with bushplane business chattered, or yelled into now-useless phones. It was a bit like chaos. Every aircraft was grounded, and most people wouldn't go on the road at this hour, especially with these conditions, and it was nigh impossible to contact anyone.

It had been a couple hours since the storm popped up. It was supposed to be nothing more than a mild flurry that was predicted, but what they got was the second coming of the ice age. Even inside the office building on the strip, Amelia felt a little bit nippy.

Unlike most, Amelia didn't really have anyone to call. She was sometimes gone for up to a week, and the only person who'd notice is her roommate. Her parents weren't talking to her anymore because of some petty argument, and her sisters were all the way in Germany.

So, she was calm. It was kind of like therapy for her, like sitting in the eye of a wild, humanistic storm, watching rich men and women in suits get in a huff over a little snow. Amelia figured they might as well make themselves comfortable, like she had.

A cheap dollar cup of watery cocoa, warm clothes, and one of her jackets as a makeshift blanket. It didn't get better than this. She listened to the report for a few more seconds, then huddled into her portion of wall, pulling the jacket tighter over her. The blizzard wouldn't end any time soon... she might as well get some sleep. It'll all smooth over once she wakes.

At first, it just seemed like a nightmare. A very vivid one. Everything was dark, but her senses were sharp. This was unlike any dream she'd had before. There was a cold feeling - one that seemed to nip at her bones, but without freezing her skin. It wasn't a pleasant chill, not like the ones Amelia enjoyed in the fall. This... felt sinister, almost. Unnatural.

She took a step. Part of her wanted to see more. Part of her wanted to leave.

But then she fell. It felt as if it lasted forever - and she didn't know which way was up or down, left or right. Like she was suspended in space. And then, just as suddenly, she hit the ground feet first, landing with a loud smack!

She crumpled, falling to her side with an agonized yelp, her injured leg sending a spike of pain through her spine. It would have probably hurt worse if the ground wasn't so spongy. It was almost like peat, hell, she could sleep on this if you gave her a pillow and blanket. Well, she would, if it wasn't so dirty. Her sweater seemed to be a bit stained from the fall, and half of her pants were nearly sunk into the stuff.

There was a second muffled collision as her jacket fell atop of her, obscuring her view for a brief moment. She threw it off, propping her body up to get a look around, her leg still throbbing.

It was a graveyard. She had landed in the middle of a graveyard. And as before... everything was so vivid. In a dream, some things would be dull, blurry... you couldn't hear or feel as well. But here, she could feel the exact texture of the ground, the unyielding, rough stone headstones nearby, and the distant splashing of waves. It was incredibly eerie... but for Amelia, it was fascinating, in a morbid sort of way.

Beyond a line of old, wrought-iron fencing, there were some trees, and beyond them - nothing but darkness. It looked like the beginning to either a really bad, or a really good horror flick. However, it definitely seemed like the start of a frightening nightmare.

And in the distance, she could see a lone man, facing a tree. His features seemed distinctly Asian, and he was wearing - !

"Oh my god, is that a dress?" She blurted out, having to stifle a bout of giggling. He seemed amusingly out of place, a lone, dress-wearing man in the middle of an evil, eerie, and murderous graveyard. She eventually held up a hand, finally composing herself enough to continue, "Sorry - sorry, ha! But, this doesn't seem like much of a nightmare! Where's the monster, or Jason, or a killer clown?"

Of course, she didn't yet suspect the true gravity of her situation. To her... this was just an odd, incredibly vivid dream. And she'd inevitably wake up, safe and sound in that airport soon enough.

Karo Shirakawa

It had been almost a whole week since he last saw him. He regretted it deeply but he just hadn't had the time. "I hope he's not mad" he murmured to himself and opened the door. On the other side of the door there was a single bed with a young man in it. If it hadn't been for all the beeping machines around him, one could easily think that he was just sleeping. "I'm sorry that it's been so long since I last visited, I've been really busy. But I brought flowers and cup cakes with some new flavour so I hope you'll forgive me." He smiled and picked up the vase with the old flowers and casually threw the flowers out the window. "So how have you been? Does the cute nurse still read to you at night?" After filling the vase with new water and putting the new flowers in it he sat down in the chair next to the bed. "I can't stay long today... Mom's been working for two days straight and she needs food when she gets home. But I'll be back tomorrow!" He carefully takes the young man's hand in his own. A smile spread over his lips when he whispered "You'll wake up soon, I know you will..." before he stood up and took his leave.

The sun is long gone and have been replaced by a million stars and the moon that shines through Karo's closed curtains. The boy, or young man if you prefer that, is sitting on his bed and changing his bandages. "Does it have to be so hard to change bandages on yourself? I just want to sleep..." A sigh escapes his lips and he looks at the moon. It's almost as if it's laughing at his stupid little problem. Just like the young man in the hospital used to do when he still was awake. A sad smile spreads over his face when he thinks back to all those times that the young man had laughed at him for getting worked up over so many stupid things. And it always ended with Karo getting so frustrated that he ended up laughing as well and just forgetting about all those stupid problems. But that was a long time ago. That was before the accident. Karo quickly shook his head. "Stupid thoughts..." he quietly whispers to himself before lying down on the bed. Maybe a good night's sleep will make everything better. He slowly close his eyes and falls into a deep slumber.

"Karo!" The young man came running with a big smile on his lips. Karo knew that this was a dream but it still made him so happy to see his friend smiling again. "What's the rush, Sora?" He knew very well what the young man wanted but like so many times before, he couldn't stop himself from asking. He couldn't stop himself, even though he knew that his question was the reason Sora slowed down. And like many times before, no sound left his mouth when he tried to warn his friend about the car. He knew that when the blood hit him, he'd wake up screaming. But this time was different. After the car hit Sora and Karo got covered in the blood, everything went black.

It took a while before he opened his eyes, only to find himself surrounded by darkness. He tried standing up or atleast find something he could grab. That's when he realised he was falling. Fast. When he saw a faint light coming from below, he started to panic. If he landed on the ground or anything else for that matter he'd certainly die so why wasn't he waking up?

He landed on the wet ground and let out a quiet scream. "Khh... What the fuck happened? Where am I?" He takes a quick look around. "A graveyard...?" He quickly gets on his feet and looks after all the flesh eating spiders he knows is lurking in the shadows, just waiting to attack. But his spider hunt stops when he hears the voice of a girl. His face turns white when he sees the young woman. "Oh no... Please tell me I'm not alone on a dark graveyard with killer spiders and a fucking GIRL!"

Hana stayed on his spot. As if he had anywhere to go to anyways. Leaning on the tree whilst sitting on the earthy ground wasn't the most comfortable ever, but by sitting cross-legged, it was sort of bearable. At least for a little while. Plus the cold couldn't bother him for the some thoughtful minutes he spent on thinking what exactly to do. He was not completely convinced yet that this wasn't just a simple nightmare, still tried to find a way to get him waking up and opening his eyes back in his room. Yes, then everything will be alright, everything will be okay. Then he'll fold the blanket and his night sheets, put it back into his wardrobe and like usual went downstairs for breakfast. Of course, it'll be the usual routine, it'll come right. Only in such situations you actually learn to appreciate, Hana understood with a slight frown, but shook it off. It was the first time he faced difficulty in staying optimistic.

Suddenly, he heard noises. Where before, deadly silence were covering the whole hazy atmosphere, everything aloof and unfamiliar, the noise was extremely close from him and reached to him as shock. A loud bang went shooing the dead silence, made him stare instinctively to the direction where he thought he heard it from; a stare that meant almost nothing to clarify the situation. Not only could he see nothing in particular because it lacked illumination, his eyes were additionally not the best around. He refused to wear glasses nonetheless, because he said they're inconvenient and not cheap. He argued that his bad sight will heal when his injury is gone anyways, and so refused to buy one; unfortunately.

"Oh my god, is that a dress?"

A voice of a young woman was heard. She spoke in an accent he was familiar with, having him to be a qualified English teacher anyways. Hana couldn't say whether he was glad to hear another person within his dreams he can't even see clearly as of yet, but it was pleasant to hear her amusement, even though he knew she was just making fun of Japanese traditional wear. At the time she was close enough, she appeared to him as a petite woman with short auburn hair who seemed to be around her early twenties. She did not come in sight her best condition, but at least her clothes were way thicker than his. It looked nicely warm...

"Sorry - sorry, ha! But, this doesn't seem like much of a nightmare! Where's the monster, or Jason, or a killer clown?"

For several seconds, Hana had to think. Slightly tilting his head, confused by her words, he only stared up to her without having taken a notice of her outstretched hand. Did this suppose to happen in a nightmare? Hana wouldn't know as every single time he had a dream, he'll most definitely forget the next morning he woke up. However, he could sense something wasn't particular right -- the woman was just too real, too graspable. He wondered whether he should just go ahead and mess around with her to verify genuineness, the realness.

After awhile of silent treatment and eyeing the girl with no particular expression displayed on his face, he attempted to reach for her hand, as a male voice took away his attention from her. "Oh no... Please tell me I'm not alone on a dark graveyard with killer spiders and a fucking GIRL!" Not nice, was Hana's first thought by the words, as he caught the sight of a... purple? haired teenage boy who clearly was Japanese. Although it did not matter and Hana made no particular difference between nationalities, it made him happy anyways to hear something familiar out of everything strange surround him.

Eventually, Hana took the woman's hand and a smile appeared on his previously emotionless face. "He does not mean any harm." Hana said with his soft and gentle voice, but added: "I think... Right?" seconds afterward, whilst gazing to his direction expectantly, of course only waiting for a positive answer. By the touch, he could feel the warmth of her hand, coming over to his and so shared the temperature until it reached a balance. Unlike his hand, it was small and soft; he liked it. Therefore instead of letting go, he held her hand within both of his palms while still smiling kindly, enjoying the warmth. "Mind me asking for your na--" Hana stopped midway, frowned as if he tried to remember something. Then he tried a different approach. "My name is Hana. Mind telling me yours?" To firstly introduce oneself before asking for another person's name; he was proud that he followed his friends advice. What he forgot was, that it were steps of a strategic way to flirt when his friend mentioned such thing, but that did not matter... for now.

Amelia Renard

The man stared for a rather long time. It kind of made Amelia uncomfortable, actually. Was something wrong with his eyesight? Or - wait, he seriously seemed foreign. Maybe he had no idea what she was saying at all, speaking Korean instead of English, perhaps.

Maybe he understood French, or German? She grew up with French as a second language, and she learned a smattering of German in public school. It couldn't hurt to try.

"Sie... uh - sie sprechen Deutsch? Or - or... parlez-vou-" She stammered out, seeming to have difficulty getting the words out at first. She was cut short when she heard a shout nearby, her attention diverted for a few seconds. She didn't even notice the man's initial approach.

"Khh... What the fuck happened? Where am I?" And lord almighty, this man - not even, really - this boy stumbled up as if he landed on hot coals. He looked like he had just left a punk rock concert, with his incredibly odd-colored hair, and equally odd choice of clothes. Honestly, Amelia didn't care too much for people like this - and she definitely wouldn't dream of them! But, at least he looked as if he spoke English.

"Are you okay?" She questioned, before realizing it came out more as a mutter. She was about to repeat it a bit more loudly, but the boy was already frantically speaking.

"Oh no... Please tell me I'm not alone on a dark graveyard with killer spiders and a fucking GIRL!"

Amelia was about to reply, her features having fallen to a grimace. And it was obviously not going to be pretty, but the other man spoke first, cutting her retort off before it even started, grasping her raised hand with both of his. The notion surprised her, both from the unexpected touch, and just how cold his own hands were. It brought her gaze to them - and an old tidbit of information surfaced from her mind.

In dreams, your hands and feet would typically be incredibly distorted or disfigured... that was one of the ways to tell you were dreaming. Or so she recalled. But not only were their hands all perfectly fine and normal, a lot of other things did not make sense. Her senses were normal - she could feel the cold temperature of the man's palms, she could see the surroundings in her typical, exquisite detail, and there were no oddly distorted noise. Not only that, but she could feel pain. Her leg throbbed horribly, and she did not wake up.

"My name is Hana. Mind telling me yours?" He asked, bringing her away from thought.

"Amelia... and - and you're freezing... here." She said, hesitating for a brief moment, before pulling her hand away. This was weird. She was supposed to be dreaming, wasn't she? But this didn't feel like a dream... it felt real. Hana looked real, and so did that brat in the distance.

She fished for her jacket, handing it to him. While it might not fit perfectly, it wasn't a tiny garment by any means. It was meant to stave off the cold elevations she often flew at, after all. Assuming that Hana took it, she grabbed onto a nearby tombstone, lifting herself up, using her good leg to aid her. She gingerly placed weight on her injured leg, and gave a low hiss as it shook and trembled.

She shifted her weight to her good leg, leaning on the stone. She finally spoke, casting her gaze between Hana and the new arrival, (albeit she gave more of a glare to the latter,) "So... where are we? This - this definitely doesn't feel like a normal dream..."

Leon Meyer

This could be it.

After years and years and years and years -

After a very, very long time of searching... Leon might have his answer. His ticket back. If the living could walk amongst the dead... maybe the same could be said in reverse. He wouldn't have to spend eternity stuck in this godless graveyard. He might be able to get a second chance, to right the wrongs done to him.

There was an... odor, that followed the trio. No, not an odor. A feeling. An aura, if you will. They were clearly out of place. They did not belong here, in this land of death. And unlike him, they were fragile, weak beings. They wouldn't be able to survive here. Not alone. The nightmares that crawl through the dark would get to them, tear them apart. Perhaps the place itself would drive them mad, as it had to him.

Wait - he wasn't mad. He was perfectly sane. A perfectly sane, ambitious man of ruthless determination. Though not even he could deny that this... this graveyard was grating on him. Perhaps it grated on his sanity as well. But only a little. For the denizens of the dead made poor company, the wailing, pitiful lot they are. He held no pity for any of them. They had given up long ago. He would never falter.

The humans were too far to discern him, likely too preoccupied amongst themselves to search through the fog and leaves. He wasn't exactly wearing camouflage, but a white shirt blended rather well with the fog, if he had to be honest.

And he'd like to keep himself concealed. He would not be the unfortunate sap to break the news to them. No, he'd sit, wait, and watch. Maybe they'd subconsciously lead him directly to what he wanted. Besides... if a nightmare did show up, he himself would fare better if he was out of sight. And maybe... it would be easier to distract from a distance.

So, instead, he approached the graveyard, keeping his distance. His feet eventually stopped short of a prone figure in front of a tombstone.

Mary.

He didn't like her much, to be honest. Out of them all, she self-pitied the most. But, he couldn't see any of the other dead around, and he wanted to share this with someone. His one glimmer of hope - his one shot of redemption. Even if it had to be Mary.

He knelt down, the tip of his tie barely grazing her eerie remains. He wore a triumphant smile, and whispered, with a bit of a singsong tone, "Mary, Mary. Stop fretting, look!"

"We've got visitors."

Mary Rose Carew

“Did you hear that Katarina?” Mary Rose looked around, she was positive she had heard a shout from close by. Well it was a long time since she had heard something like that, maybe she was starting to hallucinate more. If that was the case it’s getting worse, she sighed heavily. If things keep up like this she wouldn’t stay sane for long. Maybe she would turn out to become one of them.

Sulking again she started drawing with her finger in the mud, there was nothing more to do anyway. Katarina seemed upset however, she hissed and walked around in circles. Apparently not happy about something, well Mary Rose understood why when she saw him coming forward. Katarina didn’t like others.

“Mary, Mary. Stop fretting, look! We've got visitors.”

Annoyed at first she gave him a harsh look, her name was not Mary. How dare he call her Mary. If he was too lazy to say her name couldn’t he just said Rose instead? But when she thought about it, he had mentioned something else also. Visitors? Oh, oh, oh! Looking up at him with big eyes she started to rise up as fast as she could, and still trying to keep a little of her grace. Which was hard since she almost tumbled while doing it. Turning around she could see them, how unpleasant they looked this time. What was with those clothes? And that hair! How could he have purple hair, how was that even possible? Leaning forward over her headstone she inspected them more thoroughly.

“It is happening again Katarina”, an hopeful look spread on her face while Katarina frowned clearly annoyed. “It is happening again.”

No it’s not. You are clearly just making this up, so just sit down like a nice girl and it will go away.

“You can not fool me Katarina.”

Realizing that the man, Leon she thought he called himself, couldn’t see Katarina she gazed back at him with an embarrassed look. But she wouldn’t excuse herself or try to explain, she was clearly not the only one who was going insane in this place. Inspecting the trio again while she pulled the bangs from her eyes she noticed it. Their – disturbing – appearance resembled his, when she thought about it didn’t he show up for the first time quite recently?

“Are you also from their time? You all have the same strange way of dressing”, she didn’t want to look away from what looked like the living but she did. It was rude to address a person and not looking them in the eyes. Looking closer at what he was wearing she nodded apologetically. “You seem to have better taste in clothes however, but I can not understand how your hair turned blue. And that one over there, purple? Strange is what it is.”

Maybe they use witchcraft?

Startled by what Katarina said, she took a few steps back. Witchcraft was bad, really bad. And she had spoken to one of them! Well, when she thought about it maybe it was acceptable in their time? But still, it was unpleasant.

"Amelia... and - and you're freezing... here."

His expression showed blind concern and sorrow after she pulled away her hands from him. He did not want it, he still urged to feel the warmth of her hands, warming up his. Yet she pulled back, away from him. It was such a pity. Looking like a puppy which just lost his toy, he gazed at her hands for a certain amount of time so that he did not entirely notice her going and taking her jacket for him. It wasn't until she offered her jacket when Hana blinked and looked up. A woman's jacket, no mistake but for Hana, it was something he truly needed right now. "Thank you... Amelia." He uttered whilst taking the jacket and used it as sash substitute, wrapped it around his waist so that less cold is able to penetrate into his cloth. It did not entirely prevent it, but enough so that he took both of his arms into his cloth and pressing them on his stomach, for the warmth to increase.

Enjoying the new sensation, he failed to notice her injured leg but soon catched up to it after hearing her hissing silently. "So... where are we? This - this definitely doesn't feel like a normal dream...", she then asked, but Hana was slightly irritated seeing how carelessly she let her wound be. What will she do if she caught an infection? She wouldn't be able to use one of her leg properly and had to hobble all through his life. This woman... "It doesn't matter right now. Let me see your wound." He said, suddenly his tone of voice changed to a more serious and concerned kind. Cowering down to have a better look at her legs, he slipped both of his arms back through the sleeves of his yukata. "Excuse me." He politely announced before gently lifting her injured leg and slightly glaring at the wound, wanting to have the best clear picture of the situation.

Thus after awhile inspecting, he fall back on his correct way of sitting and without any other words, suddenly ripped a part of the sleeve of his cloth and took it to cover the injury. "Unfortunately there is no water around, but if we find one you have to wash it properly.", he continued strictly while wrapping the cloth around, then tying it tightly. Then he looked up and displayed an assuring smile on his face. "Hopefully this will do for awhile." Whether this was a dream or not a dream, it mattered little. When Hana saw an injured person, he couldn't help but do something about it; sitting at the side doing nothing only because it's a dream was definitely not Hana's way of doing. Plus at time, this seemed so realistic, almost made it surrealistic, that Hana was scared to throw in assumptions.

Suddenly, he heard faint voices. Although he could never rely on his eyes, especially not within this strange thick fog which screamed out a mysterious kind of feeling, he always could count on his sharp hearing senses. Strangely, everything was graspable. As if his inner limits of his hearing senses were switched off and he completely drowned into this 'dream world' with a max alert. It was not necessarily unpleasant... rather, it was frightening. To hear to strange, unfamiliar noises at the same time was enough to perhaps drive him crazy someday. However, this time, he was just curious. With the presence of others, he felt rather secure and gathered up courage to listen more closely, doing steps of the brave. "You hear that?" He asked after he pressed his point finger on his lips to give both a sign to be silent for awhile. "Voices. Maybe there are more people around?" Somehow, an intuition perhaps, made it that his question came off as doubting. Yet, curiosity got the best of him and he shouted: "Who is there?" In a dream, you can allow yourself to do everything you like, right? Soon afterward though, he regretted his actions and his curiosity gradually changed to a bad anticipation.

Karo Shirakawa

Karo saw a young man not too far away, talking to the young girl. Maybe he should go talk to him...? But the girl is standing there too. He takes a quick look around and it does feel like someone's watching him. No, he'd rather stand a little closer to a girl than being watched by flesh eating killer spiders. He takes a deep breath before he walks over to the others. Is that guy japanese? He wears the same kind of weird clothing like Karo's grandfather. "Hey, you two!" he calls out as he gets closer, careful not to get too close to the girl. When they doesn't take any notice of him his eye starts to twitch. How dare they ignore him! He opens his mouth to yell at them when he hears the young man talk.

Who is there?

Karo's eyes follows the young man's and he quickly freezes when he sees the two people behind the gravestone not that far away. How can that guy not see them? Well, it seems like those two over their can see us atleast. Could they be the one's he felt looking at him before? "You guys..." he says without taking his eyes of the watchers. "Are those two friends of yours...? Cause they look kinda... Weird..."

Weird indeed. It's both dark and foggy so he can't see clearly but it looks like a man and a woman. And could it be that the man has blue hair...? He tries to get a better look but no, it's impossible to know for sure. But there is something blue over there! And why do they look that much? Have they never seen other people before or what? He quietly shakes his head and mumble to himself "Great, just great... A weird graveyard, two girls, killer spiders and darkness... Hell, I haven't even ended up in weird places like this when I've drank too much!" No, he really needs a smoke if this shit plans on going on. He searches his pockets and takes out a cigarette and a lighter. He quickly lights it and drew the smoke down his lungs.

She was confused at first, when he knelt down, and almost took a step back. The man seemed to mean well, but she couldn't deny he was a bit odd. The motion worried her a bit.

"It doesn't matter right now. Let me see your wound."

Then, he lifted up her pants leg. Amelia hesitated for a few seconds, not believing his audacity, seeming to stare and examine it. A mixture of fury and confusion welled up inside of her. It was far from pretty, and most people typically reacted negatively when they looked at it, but he didn't even blink. But then again, this jackass just went and started feeling up her leg!

He wrapped a cloth around it, which she angrily ripped off, tossing to the side. She pulled her leg from his grasp, taking a few careful step back with her characteristic limp. "Are you an idiot!? It's a gimped leg! There's nothing you can do for it! And I swear to god, if you go and start touching me up again - ESPECIALLY my leg..." She stopped here, just shaking her head with an aggravated huff.

The pain from walking was abated somewhat from the rage she felt. If she ever wanted any help, she would have asked for it in the first place. Not to mention you don't go lifting the pants of some woman you just met! Hell, you don't do that to anyone!

She placed herself away from Hana and the goth boy both. Honestly, she couldn't tell which one pissed her off more right now, and she tried to ignore both of their chatter as best she could, until Hana eventually shouted out.

"Who is there?"

Was there someone else here? "Please, god, let it be someone normal..." She muttered under her breath.

Leon Meyer

"It would seem so. Yes, we're from the same time. And yes, none of them dress quite so well as I do." Leon said, with a hint of pride in his voice. "And as for the one with purple hair, I'd say he dyed it. I dyed mine shortly before I died. I had lost a bet. And... infuriatingly enough, it seems to have stuck. Whatever they put in those stupid chemicals must last, even in the afterlife."

"But, listen, listen! Hair dyes aren't the point. Do you see them? If the living managed to come here... imagine if we could do the same. Return to the earth, even after dying..." Leon muttered, his voice almost too low for Mary Rose to hear. His tone was wistful... and desperate. There was a strong sense of longing in his words. He watched the group like a hawk, absorbing every detail he could.

But then... they took notice of the dead pair. First, it was the man wearing a yukata, who seemed to have heard their voices. Then the purple-haired one, while the girl seemed to take no notice at all. He could hear their shouts that followed soon after.

"Who is there?"

"So much for subtlety and, well, not being seen in general." Leon sighed, standing up. "Looks like we might have a bit of explaining to do, as much as I hate to say it. Though, I'll be honest, how do you explain this place? It's kind of like Limbo, right? I think it's kind of like Limbo." He cast a questioning gaze towards Mary Rose, giving a small shrug. He was new here, after all. Maybe she knew more about the place. All he knew is that nightmares roamed around and he didn't want to see a nightmare up close.

Mary Rose Carew

"It would seem so. Yes, we're from the same time. And yes, none of them dress quite so well as I do. And as for the one with purple hair, I'd say he dyed it. I dyed mine shortly before I died. I had lost a bet. And... infuriatingly enough, it seems to have stuck. Whatever they put in those stupid chemicals must last, even in the afterlife."

Mary Rose gave him a confused look, dyed? Like how you dye clothes? While furrowing her forehead she tried to put the pieces together. It was strange, really strange. No one tried to dye their hair when she was alive, she didn’t think anyone had ever thought about it either. What a strange place the future seemed to be.

"But, listen, listen! Hair dyes aren't the point. Do you see them? If the living managed to come here... imagine if we could do the same. Return to the earth, even after dying..."

When he said that she got a sad look in her eyes, no not sad it was a look of pity for him. That poor little thing didn’t know anything. It was probably for the best if she doesn’t mention it right now either, he would just… fall to pieces like the rest of them. Just like her. But maybe the outcome would make him satisfied, if they succeeded, she would be more than satisfied by that.

“Who is there?”

Mary Rose turned her gaze towards the living again. Oh, looks like they noticed. But shouting wasn’t a good choice. If one of them was around, it would have noticed. Too bad. Maybe they will fail again. Like the last time she had her chance. Poor humans, it was a nasty scene. She would prefer not to see it again.

I want to see it again, it was beautiful. So nice, that Nightmare really knew what she was doing. Hey, do you think we would meet her again?

“I would prefer not to Katarina, it is not that nice to get attacked by hundreds of snakes.”

Well, if you lend me your body you wouldn’t need to feel it anyway. Good right?

Mary Rose snorted, there was no meaning in answering that. Katarina was just being silly like always.

"So much for subtlety and, well, not being seen in general. Looks like we might have a bit of explaining to do, as much as I hate to say it. Though, I'll be honest, how do you explain this place? It's kind of like Limbo, right? I think it's kind of like Limbo."

“Well Limbo is a good way to describe it, even if it is not really the right way”, Mary Rose got quiet and started to think, how to explain it without destroying him. “This is where you get after dying and before you pass on. It is the… how did he explain it? Oh yes right, it is the dimension who keeps the living world and the afterlife combined. It is here you have to expiate your sins before getting to heaven. If heaven does exist.”

Maybe she had said too much, well it was better to explain it to him anyway otherwise he would become mad later when finding out. Maybe she should let him take in the information, he was new after all. And if he didn’t know that he probably hadn’t talked to anyone. Well there was people who didn’t know that even after being here for a long time. Most of them became Nightmares in the end, that’s why there are so many. When she thought about it, there wasn’t so many when she came here. Well if it wasn’t for that old soldier she wouldn’t know this either. Shortly after their loss he also became a Nightmare, it was sad. But he had been here for maybe as long as she had been now? Oh that is bad…

Katarina smiled big, showing of her teeth’s again and so Mary Rose slowly started to walk towards the living. It was probably for the best if she explained it, or maybe not explained it… But she did know towards which direction they needed to go. But it would have been better if it was Leon who had approached them first, he didn’t look that… dead as her sadly. Uncertain she placed a hand over her wound, trying to hide what was underneath. It would not be good if one of them screamed again.

When standing closer to them but still so far away that the fog made her unclear – it was for the best, they didn’t need to see her right now – she curtsied humbly. “My name is Mary Rose Carew, you seem lost and I know the way back to where you belong. It is better to start moving. You made to much noise and… things are going to come soon. I will explain further while we are moving.”

'Bloody' Mary

As the warning of "You made too much noise and… things are going to come soon. I will explain further while we are moving" came from the dainty mouth of Mary Rose, a chorus of harsh laughter echoed throughout the surrounding trees, even worse as it did not even come from a human throat. Vague avian-like shapes formed in the shrouded branches as a faint wind rattled the branches giving the strangers a glance of what exactly surrounded them. Ebony feathered ravens with cut throats shifted their feathers as they gave an encore of calls, while one raven in particularly stunning feature of blood red eyes, in comparison to the black beady ones of its fellows. Even more odd was around its weeping throat was that of make-up case, its mirror being dyed in blood. Its pointy beak opened its maw as a distinctly female voice came from it "Still trying to guide lost lambs..hoping to find your one true pet? I would have thought you would have learned by now little Lamb" . Within seconds it seemed like a torrent of ravens swept over the heads of the visitors as a singular entity, as the crimson-eyed raven dropped open make-up case on the ground in-between the visitors and the dead as the unkindness swarmed around it before vanishing one by one into the small mirror in moments. Until all that remained was that small make-up mirror at least for a moment as one single pale digit emerged followed by the rest of the hand as the Nightmare known as 'Bloody' Mary emerged from the mirror and picked up the case, pouting slightly as she checked her reflection by snapping it shut with her fingers.

A faint smirk appeared on her face as she mockingly wiggled her fingers in the lovely Lamb's direction before pivoting in the direction of the newcomers purring in a silk voice "I am one thing our darling little lamb spoke of. If I may introduce myself..you have heard of my legend as I am truly one thing to be feared or revered depending on how much you put your stock in luck. You may call me Mary..care to guess my legend. If you get it right maybe I will give you a head start..I will give you hint..reflections.." The fog had lessened around her elegantly gowned form as beads of crimson seeped from the wound in her neck. The wound itself was merely a line as it seemed to stitched neatly at least for now. Cold eyes looked from human to human as her smirk grew larger as she felt a chill of anticipation run up her spine at the thought of beginning another chase, "Get it right and I will give you a boon of my favor..tipping luck in your favor possibly...indulge a beautiful woman won't you gentlemen?" .

Her eyes blinked almost owlishly as she took in the eccentric features of the visitors ranging from the man in the dress-like clothing, a clearly angry young girl to the smoking purple haired boy. ~What an odd group of humans we have here..~ Mary pondered as she awaited their answers. Deciding the morals were of little danger to her own person, she turned her attention to the Lamb and one of the newer permanent residents who was of little interest to her. Yet Lamb was one who deserved pity as she had watched from afar a few times as the girl battled between her two selves..it almost moved her own long-since dead heart..if it only were not so pathetic. Waggling a finger at the Lamb she tutted "Now don't go ruining my fun, little Lamb and give away my game." Her tone was condescending as if she were speaking to a child rather than a perfectly able woman. Although in her eyes, anyone not a Nightmare was exactly that..a whimpering child too afraid to just embrace the darkness that was now their life.

This was getting absurd. The longer this went on, the more sure Amelia became. That she was in a nightmare, or a dream - whichever! And none of this would harm her. But, looking between the two women who arrived, she was becoming less and less sure that she was safe. Whatever was going on... it wasn't normal. It wasn't natural.

The first one, a young-looking girl, with beautiful, silvery blonde hair, and an old-fashioned dress. She spoke posh, and acted posh, almost like a noble girl of old. She gave off an eerie vibe, and didn't really seem to be all there. But she seemed harmless, at least. Her lilting voice and charming looks giving her a child-like demeanor.

But, the other. Amelia was not frightened by much, but she felt a chill run through her spine as their gazes met. This woman had arrived like Dracula, but with a flurry of flying crows, instead of bats. And she herself had an identical injury to them all, a festering, horrific wound in her throat. Every cruel word this woman spoke caused it to bleed. And that smile she wore, was far from friendly or kind. It was predatory. Murderous. She called them all lambs, as if she were a wolf for the slaughter.

This was what that girl meant. Is this what they had attracted? It was absurd and horrific at the same time. Amelia didn't know whether to laugh at the impossibility of the situation, or to run as fast as she could.

"You may call me Mary..."

"Care to guess my legend."

By this point, Amelia was backpedaling, looking at this 'Mary' with wide eyes. What did she mean, by legend? And honestly, did it matter? This woman had seemingly popped out of a mirror. As soon as that posh girl approached from the fog was the moment sense and rationality took a nosedive from the window.

"I will give you a hint... reflections." This clue really almost made it too easy.

Amelia's gaze fluttered from Mary, to that mirror that she held in hand. The one the woman had popped out from. Was this woman really suggesting...? And even if she were, would the two men with Amelia even know? They seemed foreign, this particular legend was a western thing, as far as she knew.

"Bloody Mary?" Amelia said, her stride stopping just short of the two men behind her. "You're saying that you're Bloody Mary? Are you serious?" The thing that scared Amelia the most, is not the claim, nor the legend of Mary herself. It's the fact that... she almost believed it. She almost believed this nonsense. The confusion and trepidation was clear, both in her tone, and expression.

She didn't want it to be real. She knew it shouldn't be real. But, this felt very, very real. And that scared her.

Karo Shirakawa

How long have he been here, ten minutes? And there's already some weird chick jumping out of mirrors and calling herself Bloody Mary! Isn't Bloody Mary a drink? He's probably had one or two of those and there might have been a girl looking like that in that picture but he doubts that she popped out of mirrors. So what the fuck is up with this weird dream? He lets out a sigh and looks at the woman dressed in black. Yes, she does look scary but what could she really do? Poke them with those pointy nails? No, that'd be stupid. He looks at the women. They're three now... Can't there be more guys instead? It's just him and the old man that's got the hots for the annoying girl. No, stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

He looks at the women again. The creepy one is talking about being some sort of legend, what's up with that? Did she escape from the nut house or what? "Geez... Does all of you girls have a screw loose or what? No offense to you blondie, you seem better than those two nut jobs!" He casually blows out smoke in the girls' direction. "Little girl, you voice is giving me a headache so just... Be quiet, will ya?" he says while keeping a safe distance and avoiding the angry girl's eyes. "What's a bloody Mary? Isn't that a drink?"

Western people have so many weird things. Weird drinks, annoying girls and weeeeeird chicks that pops out of mirrors. Geez, can't they be more like japanese people? That old man seems pretty nice so why can't they take after him?

Confused seeing his knot didn't properly work, he lifted his gaze to the girl; facing her anger filled face that demanded him to let go. Quickly, Hana made a distance between them, picking up the piece of cloth he just ripped with him after she tossed it away and watched Amelia with big eyes as she roughly mouthed Hana as if he just had made the biggest mistake in his whole short life. Was he an idiot? He couldn't really deny that. Yet he had difficulties understanding what exactly he did, that made her assume he was one. "Are you an idiot!? It's a gimped leg! There's nothing you can do for it! And I swear to god, if you go and start touching me up again - ESPECIALLY my leg..." Gimped... is it? After awhile, sitting on the ground utterly confused he blinked. Perhaps he was an idiot, not recognizing the difference between an injured and a gimped leg, but still it was difficult to see, also because of Hana's poor sight and the fog that began to get thicker and thicker every minute, as if wanting to intimidate and corner the three individuals there.

"I-- I am sorry..." Hana stammered, more surprised-scared than really sorry. He could not really help it, as of course he made a mistake and assumed she was injured from the fall seeing her movements; however what he still did not really get was the simple fact why she was bursting with such anger, as if Hana had just punched her or something. He remembered he did something similar in the past, wanting to treat a scar thinking it was an injury, but that woman just laughed amusingly. But Amelia...? The more he thought, the more it made no sense for him therefore he stopped. He was not the thinking type of guy anyways, it won't do any good. It is why he apologized one more time as he slowly stood up whilst doing a polite bow as in japan usual. "I apologize one more time if I have offended you in any way. I will not touch you again, I promise." With that been said with deep concern, even displayed on his face, he slowly lifted his head back up and searched for her gaze. However, he didn't catch it, seeing it was settled on something else...

Following the gaze, Hana narrowed his eyes to see clearer. The young purple haired man indicated towards two figures, for Hana blurry and unclear but enough, to see a blonde and a blue haired in the distance, probably facing them. It was an... how can one say?... odd feeling on the tongue catching their sight. It was as if he got goose bumps, but on another thought, it was only unusual; frighten unusual. Was this really a start of the nightmare? “This is where you get after dying and before you pass on. It is the… how did he explain it? Oh yes right, it is the dimension who keeps the living world and the afterlife combined. It is here you have to expiate your sins before getting to heaven. If heaven does exist.” The woman voice was heard, faintly, but enough for Hana to listen to. Nothing which means he understood the content though. Was he perhaps-- dead? No way, he didn't feel dead the slightest, actually he weirdly felt very alive! His hand slowly went up to his chest. Poundings. Thank God, his heart was pounding, he was alive!

The smell of smoke was distracting him, therefore he had to gaze sharply in the direction of the purple haired. He loathed the smoke of cigarettes. What was that kid thinking? Smoking in his age, did he want to ruin his body? As he wanted to step up to him, eventually get rid of the cigarette he was currently using, faint steps were heard afar and the blonde haired reduced the distance between them, yet didn't come so close that Hana could have a clear look at her face. However enough, to let Hana assume it was a woman. Was she the one talking just now? Whilst doing a polite gesture, letting Hana assume she was some kind of nobility or from a rich house, his question answered itself, as the same woman voice sounded out of her mouth: “My name is Mary Rose Carew, you seem lost and I know the way back to where you belong. It is better to start moving. You made to much noise and… things are going to come soon. I will explain further while we are moving.”

Mary Rose Carew... what a beautiful name. Hana always liked European names thus failed to understand he made a mistake by shouting just now. However, how could he know that...? All of a sudden, an ear-piercing laugh went through the air, made Hana to look around furiously. It was different than any other, made him cringe and step backward, to finally feel secure having the tree behind him. Suddenly a swarm of ravens appeared in their middle, croaking and flying in various of direction before settling on one spot. Not long afterward, they flew away with not less noise and revealed... it. Clueless, Hana stared at the creature as if hypnotized, did not really had an idea what exactly was, that appeared in front of him. What exactly happened just now?

As the creature spoke, with such rough womanly voice, Hana felt wobbly on both of his legs; it was so frightening real it scared him. Was this really a dream? Hana had to settle with a denial; no it wasn't. It was real and he was caught in the middle of it, whatever this might be. To the game, she referred to them answering her question, right? Hana assumed so, did not have any idea what she meant though. Then Amelia raised her voice and answered nothing Hana was able to bring; or nothing he would now so to speak. Then, the purple haired kid joined in "Geez... Does all of you girls have a screw loose or what? No offense to you blondie, you seem better than those two nut jobs!" As he casually blew out smoke into the girls' directions, Hana could only frown, slightly irritated. "Little girl, you voice is giving me a headache so just... Be quiet, will ya? What's a bloody Mary? Isn't that a drink?" Honest, Hana did not comprehend this youngling. Actually he never met anyone similar to this kid, hiis behaviour was just too unbelievable. Hana was sure that he was under-aged, and he was also positive that the "little" woman, Amelia, was older than him by few years. So how can he be so improper? Regardless of this almost ridiculous situation, Hana still put respect, politeness and correct behaviour highly. Plus smoking in front of other people;; that especially was a behaviour Hana refused to accept.

Few steps were enough to reach the purple haired teen as Hana suddenly with quick movements of his hands snatched the cigarette out of his mouth, practically destroyed it only remaining small little pieces and threw them to the ground. “I beg your pardon, but I do not assume you're old enough yet to be consuming cigarettes. Furthermore it is irresponsible to smoke whilst in presence of other individuals.” Softly, the words escaped from his mouth which formed a formal smile, as he faced the creature once more in new founded courage. Although he felt so small, so weak and in comparison practically nothing; he withstood her- or rather its- gaze bravely.

"Nice to meet you, Mary Rose. Nice to meet you, Mary. My name is Hanataro Iku, or simply Hana." An introduction he made was in his way of thinking the likely to be said in such situations, where regardless of what happened afterward, two individuals had introduced themselves while he had not. It was only proper to name is name, right? "Are you two possibly... related?" Simply assuming with the same name that they're related was pretty typical for Hana; in fact, it was so stupid that others may disregard his question and move on, ignoring him. Yet he was curious.

"And is Amelia, right? Are you.. Bloody Mary?" Was it a clever thing to be honest, and tell her- or rather it- that he did not know the legend she mentioned? Even Hana was enough intelligent to know that and silenced himself after the few sentences he spoke.

Karo Shirakawa

The shock from the man grabbing his cigarette and completely destroying it made Karo freeze.

“I beg your pardon, but I do not assume you're old enough yet to be consuming cigarettes. Furthermore it is irresponsible to smoke whilst in presence of other individuals.”

Not old enough? Who the hell does this guy think he is?! "What the fuck do you think you're doing?! I don't have more than two packs with me so don't waste them! And what's it to you if I'm not old enough? You a cop or what?" His voice got more and more angry and he clenched his hand. He admits that patience and understanding isn't one the things he'd write on his resume but that guy is clearly picking a fight, right? He's atleast acting very unpolite.

To avoid getting physical with the other guy, he turned his attention to the kind of weird looking women and the blue haired man...? Well, the person behind them. Should he introduce himself? The others seems to have done that... He pulls his hand through his hair and smirks. "I'm Karo Shirakawa." There, now it's done.

He takes out another cigarette and lights it, careful not to let the other man ruin that one too. After making sure his hair was in order he looks at the woman in black but quickly moves on to the one named Mary Rose. The woman in black just looked downright creepy and he'd rather not lay his eyes on her ever again. But the blonde one... There were something fascinating about her. His eyes carefully looked at every inch of her, as much as could with the fog in the way. She doesn't look old but certainly looks like she's from somewhere old. Dirty but still pure. But everything about her screamed that she was used to sitting pretty every day but at the same time she kinda reminded him of his mother. A woman that fights to stay alive.

Leon Meyer

Oh god no.

Leon sprung up, circling around the graveyard, loosening his tie. Where one Nightmare appears, more would surely follow. And just one nightmare was enough to kill all three of the humans, even with both him and Mary Rose present.

He couldn't let that happen. These humans were the first lead in a long time. The only actual chance that he might get to go home, and leave this god forsaken madhouse of terrors. They cannot die. He would not let them. And he definitely would not let a Nightmare touch them.

The three humans were reacting just as expected, with mixed degrees of shock and fear. But they didn't even know what a Nightmare was. They didn't know what it could do. If they did, they would have started running already. Though they wouldn't get far. And if they knew what a Nightmare was capable of, they'd stop their petty squabbling over cigarettes and etiquette. If only they even had an idea of how precious their own lives were. And how foolish it is to risk them by continuing to stay. Humans are all fools.

He approached Mary Rose, placing a hand on her shoulder, and bending to whisper in her ear.

"You need to leave. Get them all away."

He wrapped his tie around his right hand - a makeshift hand wrap, so as to not injure his knuckles. Although it's not like he'd even land a punch on the Nightmare anyway. He started to edge to the side, angling to walk behind the Nightmare. He knew that she'd likely notice, especially with his jury-rigged 'preparation'. So hopefully, she'll take enough notice to turn her back on the humans, and focus on him. Maybe it would give Mary Rose the window she'd need.

He didn't call out. He didn't do anything but slowly, and less-than-subtly try and move behind her. An action that would scream louder than any word. Garner more attention than any spoken challenge. His steps were sure, his hands were steady, but his eyes conveyed the hesitation and fear that he felt. For this could go wrong very, very quickly.

Voices. Unknown voices.

Screams. Unknown screams.

Scent. Unknown scent.

Fantastic.

Clown-ish sat up from his position, listening. Thus did not fail to perceive every foreign fragrance that gradually formed a presence within the dark realm. His golden orbs seemed restless, continuously searching for the exact position. Where? Where was it? From nothing, a grin formed itself on his pale face, showing off sharp animalistic teeth shining white into the darkness. He found them. Them whose smell he truly adored to the point he wants to crush them into tiny little pieces.

In the dark of darkness, his essence split; formed another, a doppelganger, which did not distinguish itself from him other than its cloth he wore and the colour of its hair; because the original is unmistakable, unique and an individual. Clown-ish then sent his doppelganger away for Clown-ish to play as observer. Clown-ish himself leaned back and closed his eyes, watched every step his doppelganger made.

Ravens in the sky as he came closer revealed the presence of his kind; the Bloody Mary, if he had to bet. A woman he found extremely amusing, but never had a chance to have a chat with. It was a great shame, as many refused to have a nice talk with him; they tend to attack like a threatened animal once he neared them. Yes, it was such a pity. How wonderful it would be to get to know, only to make it more interesting. Dramas were always one weakness of his, so entertaining; as betrayal is sweet and tears even more so.

At his arrival he vanished into thin air, watching the scene without lifting a finger. The blondie and the blue haired he recognized, seen them around but never they piqued his interest as they do now. Bloody Mary in their centre as always covered in black standing elegantly and fearsome; pretty much Clown-ish type of woman, very sexy. Eventually his golden frightful orbs settled on the three unknown individuals. The scent that although was perceived as unknown, he despised very much. Was it real, what he saw?

.. Humans? Living humans whose flesh was still fresh and young and delicious? Having hearts which pounded in time? Those selfish and vicious creatures that formed his essence? Non-involved, but still with enthusiasm and piqued interest, he watched how those dealt with the threat which was no one other than Bloody Mary and listened to every word, even chuckled realizing they started some kind of introduction round. How oddly interesting, it would be a pity to kill them just like that. Yes, such pity.

Suddenly, the blue haired sneaked up to Bloody Mary with an obvious suspicious stance that seemed to scream for a surprise attack. However, he needed an oddly long time for preparation and it felt very off; therefore betraying his intent to act as distraction. Such act of bravery, wanting to protect; Clown-ish eyes sparkled of amusement. That was it! The drama he urged for! It was so perfect, so beautiful; sadly very predictable. Getting a nightmare like that won't do; the blue haired dead one will be killed in that instant.

He won't let such drama end just like that, however. Clown-ish gradually created the illusion he had prepared since minutes ago. A manipulation that caused a thunderstorm wherein lightening crashed down, came dancing from the black clouds overhead. Letting trees and countless of trees ignite to form a grand heat that came closer... and closer... an illusion which heat was not some joke. It felt real; and from warm it quickly changed to torridly hot. Perceived by all possible senses it really seemed unfeigned and shifted the threatening silence in the very second the illusion succeeded. It was like a preparation, a foretaste for Clown-ish to bestow them his presence. As per the tempest appeared from nothing, Clown-ish popped up, resting his arm on the blue haired shoulders and giggled to him with a broad grin and frightful golden eyes. 'A wonderful day to have a chat, I presume?' Suddenly a voice went through every individual present. Telepathy was, that he used, while he continued to sound a creepy giggle.

As sudden as he appeared, he vanished once again only to pop up beside the three humans to bow down to them in a showy way and eventually to the others. His hat whilst he removed of course like a gentleman, with the difference that he slightly tilted his head to the side, having a wide grin on and started again, to giggle. 'Delighted to make your acquaintance, Clown-ish is the name.' He introduced himself through telepathy once again. With a slight wink he glanced to Bloody Mary with his ever-cheerful demeanour, wide-eyed like always revealing the full glory of his golden orbs. After seconds he appeared slightly to hover in the air, as he lifted his cane. Pointing to the direction where the fire creeped closer than ever to the bunch. 'Shall we play my game, for a change?' With the background music to be thunder and lightening, and the fire heating up the scene plus the wind that seemed to carry the heat closer to them; what perfect setting. Clown-ish giggled. It definitely was one sweet welcoming drama.

Mary Rose Carew

Katarina was ecstatic when the ravens started to fly around while Mary Rose started to panic, the only thought she had on her mind was how painful this would get. Shivering she shrank down into something even more pitiful, all she begged for was to not get hurt. The wounds began to hurt at the thought of pain, she just wanted to run away.

As she thought it was Bloody Mary who revealed herself and started talking, and what she heard was not scaring her at all actually. It made her twitch, Katarina laughed happily as she came closer.

Do you hear what she says? Do you hear what kind of voice she uses? She talks down to you, she acts like she is greater than you. That lowlife thinks she is something. She acts like she is older than you. But you know how pitiful she was before she turned out like this, right? So how dare she talk to you like that… Doesn’t it make you angry?

Mary Rose’s eyes got bigger as the twitching got worse, “It does.” Katarina started to dissolve as the anger grew, while Mary Rose clenched her hands and grinded her teeth’s. Losing control. Just as she was going to charge forward Leon was beside her, putting a hand on her shoulder making her snap back to reality – or her kind of reality. She stared down at the hand, how dare he touch her? You can’t just walk around and touch people however you like! He was not of her status so he should definitely not touch her.

“You need to leave. Get them all away.”

The humans? Oh, Bloody Mary… He doesn’t want them to die. How ridiculous, do he think he can do anything? Well as long as it’s not her who gets attacked she can go along with it. She followed Leon with her eyes as he tried to get Bloody Mary’s attention when suddenly, she wasn’t the only nightmare around.

Mary Rose looked around her confused by what she saw, she hasn’t seen this before. Was it a new nightmare? Or just a nightmare she hadn’t seen yet? Strange… She should know everyone around here, or everyone who was still active, some had stopped and just laid around waiting for their deaths. It was a funny, nightmares who thought they would die by time. Katarina who was clearly visible again and irritated, hissed towards Leon for destroying everything didn’t seem to notice anything.

“Katarina, look…” Startled Katarina turned her gaze towards Mary Rose and right after she seemed to notice the surroundings.

Who?

Mary Rose didn’t have time to answer because what seemed to be the cause of what has just occurring suddenly stood beside Leon. Both Mary Rose and Katarina were startled by that, well more startled by the fact that neither of them knew who it was. Somewhat he looked scarier than Bloody Mary since his appearance was… disturbing. Well disturbing for Mary Rose. What was that?

A wonderful day to have a chat, I presume?

Mary Rose’s eyes grew bigger, that was not Katarina’s voice… Why did she hear another voice? She started pressing her fingers against the skull while thinking over and over again “Get out”. For each time more desperately as the twitching started again. Was it getting worse? Was the end near? She didn’t even notice what the others did, she was to panicked by the voice.

Delighted to make your acquaintance, Clown-ish is the name. Shall we play my game, for a change?

Clown-ish? Oh! Was it him? Once again while the pupils got smaller she looked at the new face, was that Clown-ish? It wasn’t something in her head? She didn’t get worse? Katarina laughed slightly and tapped her on the shoulder.

I think you are getting worse by the minute.

Turning her head in an angel who shouldn’t be possible for a living person she stared at Katarina as she dissolved. The twitching got worse again as Mary Rose pressed her nails against the skull, she must keep it together. “Oh no… Oh no… Oh n-“ The icing laugh crawled out of the mouth, quietly at the beginning but grew higher and higher. “How pathetic you look, should this be scary?”

Emerging from the comfort behind the fog Katarina stepped before the other with a hideous grin as the body still twitched like it was possessed. Which it was to some point. Leaning forward with wide-open eyes she studied the two nightmares and smiled even bigger as she looked at Bloody Mary. “Don’t you dare talk down to me you lowlife. I am older than you are. I remember when you came here and how pathetic you were trying to vengeance your death. Is that what you do now? I don’t think so.”

She looked at the new one, “And you. I haven’t even seen you. Are you new? Because it looks like that.” She laughed. “And you are supposed to be a nightmare? What a joke.”

Karo Shirakawa

Everyone seemed focused on the creepy woman in black, it was probably only Karo who's mind had wandered somewhere else. To the young, blonde girl to be precise. He couldn't stop watching her, it was something about her that made it impossible to look away. That's when it happened. There was a voice in his head. Not the one that described the young woman, it sounded mean and manly.

"A wonderful day to have a chat, I presume?"

He quickly looked around, hearing a creepy giggle. Was he the only one that heard this? His eyes found the young woman again. She seemed both scared and upset. Should he do something? Yeah right, like what? He knew nothing about what was happening, had no idea who the voice in his head was or who was the owner of the creepy giggle. So how could he help her?

"Delighted to make your acquaintance, Clown-ish is the name."

There it was again. The voice in his head. But it wasn't just in his head this time. Before him, the little girl and the old man stood a man with golden eyes and a disturbing grin on his face. Then he disappeared, right into thin air. Karo looked around again and it actually started to get a little creepy. The voice sounded again, this time from above.

"Shall we play my game, for a change?"

The man was sitting in the air above him, pointing towards a direction from which you could see a red glow. This was almost too much for the young man and it started to get harder and harder to stand up straight. But then he heard blondie's voice.

"How pathetic you look, should this be scary?"

Who was she talking to? No, that didn't even matter because she moved towards the woman in black. But she didn't walk like a lady. All of it just looked weird. And that icy laugh, the ugly grin and her body twitching. It was uncomfortable and he didn't want to look at her. But he still couldn't look away. Damn it, why couldn't he take his eyes off her?! Stupid woman...

He looked at her again. She was leaning forward and looking at the woman in black, Bloody Mary was it? He doubted that her eyes could open any more than they already were and she was looking more and more scary. Then her grin got bigger and she started talking to the woman in black.

"Don’t you dare talk down to me you lowlife. I am older than you are. I remember when you came here and how pathetic you were trying to vengeance your death. Is that what you do now? I don’t think so."

What happened to the polite young woman that looked even more scared than him two minutes ago? Now she's standing there, reprimanding a woman that emerged from a mirror and smiling while doing it? She's getting scarier by the minute. Her head turns to the man with the golden eyes.

"And you. I haven’t even seen you. Are you new? Because it looks like that."

She laughed before continuing.

"And you are supposed to be a nightmare? What a joke."

She's clearly picking a fight and Karo could only stand there, praying that they won't kill him when the fight start.

Leon Meyer

What had happened was frightening, biblical, even. Lightning rang down from the sky, scorching the earth just as an unnatural wildfire consumed the forest around the graveyard, turning the chilled, misty air into a sweltering furnace. The heat bothered Amelia the most, with her heavy winter clothing causing her to quickly sweat. The lightning made Leon jump. The strikes reminded him too much like those familiar gunshots. Both combined worried them just as equally.

'A wonderful day to have a chat, I presume?' Leon felt a pressure on his shoulder, and partly out of reflex, partly out of fear, he turn and swung. He barely a glimpse of the new nightmare before the jolly, maniacal performer disappeared, his fist hitting only air.

Then, the deranged clown reappeared before the living trio.

"Delighted to make your acquaintance, Clown-ish is the name. Shall we play my game, for a change?"

At this, Amelia started to slowly step back, blindly feeling for tombstones to lean on for her leg. Compared to 'Bloody Mary', this Clownish didn't look as menacing. But the flames that surrounded them wanted to tell a different tale. Even Leon seemed to deflate, his previous zeal and foolishness visibly running out of him. One nightmare was dangerous. Even if both Leon and ghost Mary tried to distract her, the nightmare could still end up killing the humans.

Two nightmares...

But... the only one who didn't seem frightened was, in fact, Mary. Her eyes took on a fire that burned brightly, maniacally, while he looked between the two threats, his brain scrambling and churning for some idea - any idea, of how to get out of here alive. It was as if she adopted the zeal that he had just abandoned.

“How pathetic you look, should this be scary?” Mary spat out, the beginning of a long... and dangerous tirade against the two nightmares. Leon stared at her with a mixture of awe and anger. He knew that this new found bravery was likely due to her madness, but even so, she was insulting not one- but two nightmares.

On the other hand, she was insulting two nightmares. She was going to get them all killed, tortured, or worse. "Mary-! Not a good idea!" He muttered viciously, bending down once again to hopefully ensure no eavesdropping.

Amelia, on the other hand saw an opportunity. These nightmares... they had big egos, if she thought correctly. Appearing in flashy, creative, and downright destructive ways. Hopefully they wouldn't take such brazen insults too kindly. Hopefully they'll be preoccupied enough to not notice the humans.

She had backed up enough to where she could reach the odd-haired boy. She grabbed his arm tightly, pulling him down. While far from subtle, her words were hopefully quieter than her actions. "We need to go, and we need to go quietly. This... is not going to get any better."

She went to the boy first for a reason. For some reason, he really seemed to hate her, and she doubted he would even notice, or care about whatever signal or sign she wanted to silently convey. Hopefully Hana would be a bit more receptive to subtleties. She glanced over his way, giving a quick nod behind her.

Though she tried to hide it, Amelia was rather terrified. This entire situation was ungodly. Unnatural. And she was certain that none of them would walk away from it alive. So, her gaze held no anger towards Hana, at least, not for the moment. It was replaced by desperation. Fear.

Karo Shirakawa

He was still watching the blonde woman, not taking any notice about the scared man with blue hair. This woman... Even though she did look quite unpleasant with her body twitching and that mad grin, she still had an aura around her body, a quite nice one too. It made him want to keep watching her for all eternity. As long as she keeps her distance.

His thoughts was quickly disrupted by the young girl pulling him down on the ground.

"We need to go, and we need to go quietly. This... is not going to get any better."

He quickly pulled his arm away from her and was just about to scream at her for touching him when he saw how truly terrified she was. His eyes went to the man with blue hair and he could see how scared he was too. Was the old man scared as well? He couldn't see but he knew that if his mind hadn't been wrapped around blondie this whole time, he would've been scared too. And he should be scared. Not only because there was a girl, inches away from him, but also because the golden eyed man and the woman in black were truly dangerous and their little 'game' would undoubtely end in the death of everyone participating. And the young girl seems to have understood that so the best option is probably to listen to her. He takes a deep breath before whispering to her with a deep blush. Yeah, he's not that good at talking to girls... "W-Where s-should we go then...?" He swallows before continuing. "A-And how do we get away without them noticing...?" He nods towards the woman in black and the man with golden eyes. "They'll kill us if they see us trying to get away, or atleast torture us and have some fun..."
