The sun was what awoke Shui. When she realized where the light came from she sprung up from her bed and skipped to her bedroom window and soaked in some sunlight. The rain had stopped during the night. Thank goodness. She put on her glasses and quickly did her hair and got dressed in her favorite dress, before calling Bai, her polar dog and walked out the door. She loved days like this, seeing the rain dry and the sun warm up the entire city, kids playing and bird singing.

As she passed a group of kids they immediately ran towards her and Bai, asking if they could play with him. Of course they could, she didn't have time to play ith him that often so this was great. Then her mind started to wander. It was soon time for the pro bending matches and she had been accepted as one of the healers at the tournament and since she loved watching pro bending, this was huge for her. Her thoughts got interrupted by her stomach. She hadn't had breakfast yet... She looked around and saw a cute looking Café named Oyaji, she had never been there and it looked so cute...and she was really hungry. She decided to leave Bai outside since it was probebly not the best idea to bring him inside...besides the kids would probably keep him company. She entered the Café and sat down by a table next to a window and smiled contently.

The Cafe was beginning to fill, and her staff was working at it's hardest. Her two waitresses went out to each table to take everyone's orders with cheerful smiles, as her two cooks in the back laughed and joked as they pumped out hot breakfast orders. Bacon and eggs could be heard sizzling in the back, as she tossed yet another fresh loaf to the back for the boys. A low urmble of pleasent chatter filled the dining room as the warm sun spilled in.
"Today is going to be a great day!" she cheered as she tossed her apron to Simon, "You work the counter while I mingle with the guests!"
"But Miss Yoshe!" he retorted after her, but eh was too late. As she passed by the doorway she saw a boy lingering, he was cute and looked like a Pro-Bender. Pushing ope the door she grabbed his arm and pulled him in, "Don't just stand there! You'll love it! Plus you get a discount if your a pro-bender!"
She lead him to a comfy chair seated close to a girl with long gorgeous black hair and a gentleman in a nice suit. Her waitresses were busy with them, so she grabbed a menu and placed it in front of him, as well as some silver ware. The menu had a nice leather cover on it, and the place mat was decorated with pastel colors with various simple patterns on them. Flipping open a pad and pulling out a green pen she smiled to him, "So what are you hungry for? I promise it will be absolutely delicious!"

“I’m hurt that you don’t consider me part of your group,” Huang feigned a mock hurt gesture as he pulled his hand across his chest. “Considering I am the one supporting your little team and on the contrary, Ling is following me today,” he added as Ling made a face at Mao. She stuck her tongue out in a childish manner and crossed her arms against her chest. Her eyes lowered into slits as Mao almost impaled her with his finger.

“I suggest you put that finger back where it belongs or I will bite it off. Or are you just trying to catch a feel?” Ling stated, a coy smile playing at her lips. She waved Mao off before turning her attention towards the café. There was a woman with long hair, almost as long as hers and a man dressed in attire a bit misplaced - to her at least - in their town walked into the café. Perhaps he was a butler or something of the sort. “And no Huang is opening the bar a bit early today. Instead of twelve, he’ll be opening it at eleven,” she replied to his question of Huang’s presence.

“Indeed I am,” he retorted as he gestured towards the café. “Shall we? My treat today as I’ve never been here before. It seems…interesting,” he asked, turning his attention to the waterbender and Ling.

“As long as you are paying this time, then I will agree. But so help me if you take off again to the bathroom,” she air quoted him with her fingers, “I will hunt you down and make sure you roast for hours on end,” Ling threatened as she smiled. She peered inside the café through the window and spotted a woman with green hair taking orders...or she assumed was the one taking orders.

Shui finishd her order and then looked around, sliding her glasses down her nosebridge, peering at the people. As her gaze made its way towards the doorway she saw a woman with long red hair, accompanied by two males. She recognized the female and one of the males..ah! That's right. She had seen them at the pro-bending arena when she got her tour of her new workplace. She smiled as she continued gazing and saw a cheery woman with long green hair and the woman's energy and enthusiasm made Shui chuckle and smile even wider. Then, her eyes landed on a man in a corner who wore what she assumed was a suit. He looked tired and somewhat mysterious...she raised an eyebrow but het thoughts were distracted elsewhere when she saw her food arrived. Freshly made scones, they smelled heavenly and she took her first bite and it was delicious. Her day couldn't have started any better.

Jun scowled inwardly as she neared her motorcycle. Someone had littered it with Equalist posters, the word "Traitor" pasted on them in bright red paint. Jun was willing to bet it was one of her parents' devout followers, no doubt trying to guilt trip her into joining. Somehow, calling her names and almost ruining her motorbike didn't seem convincing. With a sigh, she brushed off the papers as best she could, dumped them in the trash, and scrubbed off whatever cheap paste they had used off her seat. After about five minutes, she gave up and decided to fix it at home, rather than outside the university.

A few minutes later, she was making her way through one of the more commercial parts of the city. Several quaint shops and restaurants had taken hold, many of which had been praised as being some of the best of the city (within price range, of course). Jun had rarely shopped or eaten here, preferring to save her money and cook at home, but today she felt differently. Pulling up at one of the cafes, Oyaji was it? she parked her bike, locked it securely, and walked inside. It was bustling with customers. A few looked familiar...she recognized some as probenders from the papers, but she didn't know any personally, nor did she really care to. She chose a small, 2-seated table near the corner by the window and looked around some more. A friendly looking waitress asked for her order: a cup of ginseng tea and a small sandwich. Jun pulled out a couple books after the waitress left and began reading, picking up bits and pieces of conversation here and there, but not paying too much attention to it.

A cheery waitress came over quickly as Ryuu seated himself in the corner. She greeted and handed him a menu. He smiled, thanked her, and slowly opened it up. A simple order of bacon and scrambled eggs with water is what he ordered. She asked him what the occasion was for the suit. When he informed her "There isn't one. I almost always wear this." she lifted an eyebrow as any normal person would. He grinned, "Yes, I know, people usually don't. Say, I'm starving. Mind hurrying that order along?" The waitress nodded and took the menu back.

The feeling of weariness began to fade. The smell of food and the loss of sunlight pleased him greatly. Ryuu glanced around at the various characters around him. Many of the customers that came in looked strangely at him, being that they were all casually dress and looked like normal folk. A certain few he recognized to be Pro-benders. He didn't hold his gaze long on them. A lovely girl with green hair was socializing with their sort mostly. Another girl he saw glanced his way briefly. A fine young lady with long black hair and a beautiful dress. Though her food arrived and her focus was directed to that. Ryuu sat patiently and waited for his own food, with his mind now pondering his involvement in the Equalists doings.

Kaito was forced into a seat by a young girl, cute in her own respects, yet much smaller than himself, which leads to the question of was he really forced into the seat, the answer would still be a definite yet... He was then asked what he wanted without delay, but was then given no time to respond as the girl jotted off to another table. Well... that wasn't very professional... Kaito thought, opening the leather-bound menu. He quickly glanced through the options and decided just to let her handle it, whenever she were to come back that is... He glanced around at the other tables, they were all colorful characters to say the least...

His attention wasn't particularly grabbed until he noticed a women enter with some guards, he locked eyes with one of her protectors, and he sneered back. Kaito was unsure if it was the man's usual demeanor or whether he didn't like him for some reason... he was about to stand up and inquire as to which it was, but he decided against it, better to let it play out and make an accurate judgment before springing into action. Plus he was hungry, and still had a headache. Now where is that waitress... he thought to himself.

The waitress came back and served Ryuu his meal. While eating he observed the various people coming in. One especailly being a girl accompanied by two guards. Average rich girl I'd assume. He forked in a mouthful of eggs and bacon. He saw a certain few others in the cafe eyeing the many benders at different tables. Some eyeing with excitement, some with discomfort and dislike. Obviously fellow Equalists. Ryuu looked at his empty plate with sadness and pushed it aside.

He sipped on the glass of water and peered around once more. Hmm. Well I'm not quite tired anymore. Perhaps it'd be best to strike up a conversation with a lady. The green haired lady was conversing with the benders. I'll pass on that one. Another guy who seemed uneasy with the benders around began speaking with the rich girl. Have fun with that one. Guards are on close watch. He laid eyes on the black dressed, black haired girl. She seemed like a pleasant girl to talk to. Ryuu got up when she seemed to almost be finished eating. He paused after getting up, now getting a bit nervous. He glanced back at his own table. People were now occupying it. The waitress must have hurried to it once he got up. The place is getting packed after all.

Ryuu took a deep breath and went to the side of the good-looking girl's table. "Hello there," he greeted her with a kind smile. "mind if I take a seat?" he brushed his hair back to his ears to show both of his colorful eyes and gestured to a chair across from her.

Shui took another bite of her scone and was thouroghly ejoying it. As she chewed on the man in the suit approached her. He greeted and said "mind if I take a seat?" Then he swoed his eyes and they caused her to melt slightly. They were beautiful. She kind of had a thing for eyes since they were the one thing that could express the most. She was just about to answer as she remembered she had food in her mouth and talking with food still in the mouth wasn't very polite. So she quickly chewed and blushed slightly as she swallowed. She smiled widely at the man and said "Of course. I would love some company." As he sat down she straightened out her dress and made sure her hair and glasses were in their place.
She placed her empty plate aside and looked the man in the eyes. She placed her hands under her chin, resting it on top of her fingers which she entwined with each other. Smiling sweetly she jokingly said "So, what brings you here?"

The lovely lady quickly finished chewing her food as Ryuu ask for the seat. She blushed and smiled "Of course. I would love some company." Ryuu did a quick brush off of his suit and pants before he sat down and folded his arms on the table. He looked into her stunning blue eyes as she looked in his. She put her hands under her chin, smiled, and asked "So, what brings you here?"
Her gorgeous eyes captured him for a moment longer. "I...uh..." He blinked and averted his eyes to her teardrop tattoo on her cheek for a moment to get a hold of himself. "I like traveling around the city. Seeing new sights. New people." He stared back into her wonderful eyes and leaned forward to her. "Your eyes are quite the sight already," he smiled more widely.

Realization slammed into Kai like a boulder thrown by a Pro-Bender. He recalled the bakery he passed by everyday on his way to the Blacksmith's shop. There occasionally was a brown haired female he remembered seeing but the girl sitting in front of him, proper and seemed to have an almost royal stature-almost-looked nothing like the apron caped girl from the bakery, save for the hair and the bright eyes. Kai made his way closer to the girl, and stared at the hand reaching out to him, unsure of what to do, he simply grabbed it.

"Fang Kai, just call me Kai," He replied indifferently, before pulling his hand away, but accepting her offer; popping a piece of the moon cake into his mouth. "And yes, I think I passed by that bakery a few times on my way to the Blacksmith's shop," He responded. If glares could kill, he'd be dead a million times over judging from the holes Ya's guards were boring into his back.

Kai dragged his eyes back to the crowd of the Cafe sensing a few of the Benders moving around. He watched with focused eyes, as the voluptuous red head got up from her seat beside the man giving him the impression of a Fire Bender and approached a man dressed distinctly as an Earth Bender. He shifted his head in another direction and noticed a rather flustered raven haired female with piercing blue eyes talking to a man in a... Suit? His jade eyes snapped back to the previous group as the golden eyed man silently exited the Cafe, the brunette man talking with the red head staring after him before said red head simply brushed it off. Kai kept himself on his toes, popping another piece of the cake into his mouth, and an eye on the Benders at all times.

Shui blushed a little bit more and placed her hands on her cheeks and smiled widely. "Aren't you sweet." She giggled and looked down for a quick second before looking back into the man's eyes. "I could say the same about yours...I've never seen anything like them before, they're quite...enchanting." She had now slid her glasses down her nosebridge, smirking at the man opposite of her. "So, are you attending a party or something? You are quite fance dressed and..is that grass in your hair?" She reached across the table and pulled out a straw of grass, twirling it with her fingers. "Or did you want to keep it there for decoration?" She smiled teasingly.

Ryuu laughed. "No, no. I actually dress like this most of the time. I don't really have too many other choice of clothes. And uh, yes," His face turned a bit red. "that is grass. My home at the moment is at the very edge of the city, and I... found it comfortable to sleep in the park because it was a lot closer." He thought about all he's said so far, and how he looked. "My, I must sound like a really odd guy." his hand went to his face in embarrassment. He looked back up to look in her eyes and shrugged, "Ah, well, I'm just... different. And aren't we all? I just show it more openly than others usually do," Ryuu smiled, "and I'm just fine with doing so." He now brushed out any other blades of grass that may have been caught in his hair, then returned his attention to the lady. "By the way," he gestured to her tattoo, "I like your tattoo. Must show that there is a little something 'different' about yourself than other good-looking girls?"

Ya Le

Ya Le nodded as the information sunk inside her head. Any one who's been a costumer of her grandfather's was no enemy. Seeing that his attention was somewhere else, she decided to look around the cafe, too.

She could somewhat hear people talking about bending and pros. From a group of girls behind her table, she aslo overheard the words Pro-Bending. '...Pro-Bending?' She's heard some of the guards talking about that before but she never really bothered to ask any of them what it was. How could she? She was forbidden to get close to any servants as her mother feared that wealthy people often fall in love with someone working for them once they got close. Ya Le would just scoff at her mother for being so paranoid and unreasonable.

The words 'Pro-Bending' echoed in her head again. Curious to know what the words meant, she spoke up, breaking the silence. "What's Pro-Bending?"

As the words came out of her mouth, one of her guards, Chen, suddenly popped up beside her with a sneer. "Only the worst thing that ever happened! Besides benders themselves that is." Xiu chuckled at this causing Chen to laugh rather obnoxiously. He had a cocky grin on his face until Ya Le gave him a stern look- signaling him to shut up. Finally realizing his place, he bowed in apology before standing back up and eyeing the other benders once more with distrust. "Trust me Lady Ya Le. Those benders are just a waste of your time."

"Well it looks great on you and I'm sure sleeping in the park is...comfortable. I might try it some time. I'm always up for new adventures." She chuckled and sipped the glass of juice she had ordered with her scones. "It's a good thing being different. That way people will remember you and rarely mistake you for someone else." She smiled and the man referred to her tattoo.
Shui smiled and crossed her arms across her chest leaning back into her seat and looked out the window, making the sun reflect on her glasses. "I do not feel special, well not anymore. And I do not feel different. But at this point of my life, I just feel that I should have run out of tears because I have spilled enough." She turned her head back to the man and once again admired his eyes.

Ryuu listened to her answer and his smile faded. When she again looked back into his eyes he took a moment to think about how to respond. He looked down at the table and spoke, "Everybody is special. Everybody has their own differences. And with the tears I can relate. I've had enough pain and sorrow in my lifetime already." Ryuu looked back into her chilling eyes. "Though you just have to find the right person who makes everything seem ok. Somebody who makes you feel special. who makes the only tears, tears of joy." He faintly smiled. "Or so I hope there's someone like that for me. With your looks and personality I'm sure you've got men lining up at your door."

The scene with the guards and bender caught his attention while it lasted. I think I know one of them... Equalists and benders should not be in the same cafe... As they all dispersed, Ryuu commented "Well, what a scene." He shook his head. "This is just the way things are these days." Ryuu's thoughts returned to the girl, and realized he had not gotten her name before now. "Oh! I'm Ryuu by the way," he smiled and stuck a hand out to her. "Ryuu Kaw."

Shui listened to the man and thought about what he said. Though you just have to find the right person who makes everything seem ok... Of course it made sense. But what if you thought you had already found that person and in the end that person made you feel like the worst thing in the world. Useless. The man smiled at her and she couldn't help but smile back. She heard about her eyes being cold all the time, but his..they seemed so..warm and comforting. She looked down and gently grabbed her glass. "Or so I hope there's someone like that for me. With your looks and personality I'm sure you've got men lining up at your door." She looked back up at him and smiled a gentle smile. "I almost wish that was not true." She chuckled. "No I'm just kidding. It's not to that extent but I have had a few troubles with a bit too pushy men which have led to me avoid men for a while. But I guess got over it." Just as she was about to ask a quiestion there was a riot happening between a pretty girl's guard and a bender she guessed.
"Yes, these riots make me very nervous walking the streets these days."

"Oh! I'm Ryuu by the way, Ryuu Kaw." The man, named Ryuu, smiled and extended his hand. She smiled and shook his hand. "The name's Shui Yu, pleasure to meet you, Ryuu."

"A pleasure to meet you too, Shui." Ryuu drew his arm back and a man came by the table. He apologized for all the trouble and placed two muffins - which were wrapped up quite nicely - on the table for the both of them. Ryuu thanked him with a faint smile and nodded. The man went to the next table and Ryuu unwrapped the muffin, and took a bite out of it. Ryuu didn't bother to glance around the cafe to see the aftermath of the disturbance because he didn't care. While chewing on the delicious muffin he began to think about all this bending and non-bending, and hatred. For Ryuu, he much despised firebenders, though he found the rest to be okay. In his own Equalist dealings he only dealt with firebender related things, and the rest the other Equalists dealt with.

After a time of silence, and with all the pro-benders around he went ahead and asked Shui, "Do you like Pro-bending matches?" He himself enjoyed listening to them. He had no problem listening to benders fighting one another in an arena. It was entertaining, though he hadn't listened to any on his radio for some time, being that his radio was a long walk home away. Also, Shui's answer would pry tell him a bit of insight as to her liking of benders and perhaps association with any.

Shui smiled at Ryuu. He was really nice and it was rare that she felt this comfortable around someone she had recently met. As the muffin was placed in front of her, her face immediately lit up and she happily thanked the man who brought it.
She took a large bite and chewed happily. The ruccus from before was unpleasant but she had learned not to get involved with any equalist and bender business. She treated everyone the same, bender or not. Each time she thought about any equalists she immediately remembered soime unpleasant memories so she always pushed them aside. But now she focused on her lovely muffin.

"Do you like Pro-bending matches?" Shui finished chewing and put her hands together and happily answered. "Yes I do! I find it very exciting and entertaining. And, I actually work at the arena. So I get a very good view during the matches."

"Sounds like a very exciting job!" A lot better than my own... "I liked listening to them myself, never actually been to one though." Ryuu glanced outside and immediately something - or rather someone - caught his eye. A big bald man in a suit. If there was any smile on Ryuu's face before that it was gone now. The man outside was sitting on a bench, it seemed he was waiting for someone. "Ah, crap." Ryuu muttered to himself.

He sighed and then returnd his gaze to Shui for one more moment. She was so beautiful, and he felt strangely comfortable talking with her, even though they just met. He then spoke, "Um. Shui, I have somewhere I need to be." his face showed the disappointment that he had to leave this wonderful lady here. He darted his eyes to the suited man in the distance, and then back to her. "But..." Ryuu leaned forward to get as close to her as he could from across the table. He looked deeply into her blue eyes, "but I would very much like to see you again soon. How about before you go to work, we could meet up somewhere? Get some food before the match?" he grinned. "And I could come along with you, we could watch the match together."
