Therlynn Serpenthelm

0 · 451 views · located in Mythos

a character in “Chaos Reigns in Mythos”, as played by SarcasticZombie

Description

Name: Therlynn Serpenthelm
Nickname: Thea, Lynn, Huntress
Age: 25
Species: Half-Elf
Family:
Mother (human)-deceased
Father (elf)-living, but has nothing to do with the twins
Twin brother Elenthias-alive
Position: Thea is a hunter, selling what she kills in the Sword Coast
Appearance:Image
Hair: Dark brown, long landing at the small of her back
Eyes: Golden brown
Build: Thea is slender, yet toned from her way of life. She's stronger than she looks and many tend to underestimate her.
Skin: Being born of half human and half elf her skin tone is a perfect in between of fair and tan.
Identifying marks: She has a large scar across her back from a large animal that attacked her once.
Height: 5'6
Weight: 125 lbs

Personality:
Therlynn can be rather manipulative, learning this trait after years of distasteful looks from other races. Manipulating people was the only way she could get things she wanted. She has a lot of charm and won't hesitate to flirt with a person if it means it will get her something she needs. She doesn't easily trust a person due to years of people mistreating her and her brother. The only true one she can trust is her brother. If you take the time to get to know her, however, you'll come to find that she is very loyal and can be incredibly kind.

Background:
Born to a human mother and an elven father who only ever had a short season of love, Therlynn and Elenthias were never truly accepted by humans or elves. They spent their younger years living with their mother who was the more loving of the two parents. She did care for them probably more than she would have liked.

When the two were ten years of age they were taken by their father to live in Miella Planes. Neither child understood why they had to leave their mother to live with a man that would constantly give them disdainful looks. The man took care of the children, but always at a distance. While there the two learned the way of the bow and of the sword. Thea took more to the bow than her brother did, however.

When they were 17 years of age the two gathered their stuff in the middle of the night, including their favored weapons, and left their fathers home. Never have they looked back nor do they ever wish to return. They went to seek out their mother once more.

When they came to their childhood home they found their mother nowhere. After asking the towns people they came to find that their mother had fallen ill and passed away shortly after they left to live with their father. Things made sense now as to why their father had all of a sudden taken an interest in them.

So the twins decided they needed to find their own path now and have ended up in the Sword Coast. While Elenthias took to the city, making a living as a con artist and being hired to steal things for others, Therlynn stuck to the woods. She found comfort in being away from people for once and made her living by selling the game she caught.

So begins...

It was a cloudy day in the Storm Coast, after a light drizzle in the morning the clouds just, never went away. But to some, this day was perfect. Near the center of the region known as the Sword Coast, there was a large town centered by a hill. Smoke rose from fireplaces and the wooden walls were quiet, but inside the walls a whisper ran through the city. The city's lord had recently went to parley with the Roaring Thunder, and shortly afterwards, collected his possessions and rode off, and everyone knew why. He had sold the city.

Citizens, mercenaries, and criminals alike lined the main street which led to the town center, the combined conversations and whispering translating into a dull roar, waiting for the new ruler to pay her visit. Someone shouted out from the wall as they were finally seen in the distance, horsemen, led by a figure in the lead, the majority of her body cloaked, an orange, stripped arm sticking out. The gates opened for them, and Catherine let her hood fall, walking down the street with a smile as she was met with a combination of cheers and silent stares.

This "procession" went on for a while until the town hall was reached and Catherine and her escort stopped, facing the guild and criminal leaders at the hall. Talking to them for a bit she found an agreement and they, as well as the crowds, dispersed and returned to their daily lives. Catherine then nodded to her guards, "Go in and celebrate, I know I am." She said with a smile, headed for the nearest tavern

Elenthias

A half-elf sat in another corner of the tavern as a man sat in front of him playing his game. The human was way to drunk to realize that the game Elenthias had engaged him in was obviously rigged. His friends were also too drunk and stupid to realize this and they all kept losing money as they became stubbornly determined to win against the half-elf. Elenthias chuckled to himself as the man told him to go once more, at this rate he was going to be bled dry of his money. Elenthias had enough of a heart to refuse the man, he didn't want to cause someone to fall into poverty because he cheated at games in order to make some money. Plus his sister would probably end up yelling at him for it. So instead he turned down everyone else for the day and packed up his stuff.

He made his way over to the bar and sat down as he ordered a drink. There were rumors of the new ruler coming into town and some people seemed to be on edge about that. Others were on edge because of a dark figure in the corner who he stole a quick glance at. Sure the man looked like someone you shouldn't mess with, but he didn't make him nervous. Maybe it was because Elenthias was a sketchy person as well. Or perhaps he really just didn't have much care about anything and neither the man in the corner or the thought of the new ruler coming into town fazed him at all.

----------------------------------------

Therlynn

Hidden in the shadows of the woods was a slender hidden figure. The figure watched her prey carefully, a small unsuspecting fox looking for its dinner. The only thing going through the hidden figures mind was that she could fetch a pretty price for the small animals fur and someone would eat the meat. The animal wouldn't be going to waste if she killed it at all, in fact it would be used to buy her and her brother their own dinner for the night.

Therlynn loosed the arrow she had knocked and it hit her target exactly where she wanted it. The animal didn't suffer, instead he died instantly before it knew what was happening. The woman approached the animal and retrieved her arrow before picking it up and putting it in her sack with her other findings of the day. Three rabbits, two pheasants, and now a fox. It wasn't much, but she could fetch a good price for it all so she decided her hunting was done for the day as she made her way back to the main road.

As she approached she was passed by a group of travelers that appeared to be heading into the city. Oh how she wished she could hop up onto one of those carts and ride it into town. It would definitely be much quicker than walking, but she also didn't know any of them. She wasn't very trusting of anyone and instead just continued walking as they went by, her hood still up as she carried her now slightly heavy bag.

Having traveled for another 2 hours since entering the border, Dirsus was carefully watching the second cart. They were nearing his stop, but he knew what the goblins would try to do the moment that they got into town. As he looked back to check on the odd lack of squeaks from the back, he saw one of the goblins roll out of the cart and a figure off in the distance.

With a angered grunt, Dirsus smacked his hand on the driver's seat, causing the lizardfolk to stop the carts. Leaping off of the side of the cart, Dirsus marched forward towards the little, green creature getting up off the ground. Without a moment's pause, his lips shot back, showing Dirsus's viscous teeth, and a deep snarl shot out.

The goblin shot up, sprinting towards the tree line, its hands hovering behind it as the squeaky scream blared. Without even a moment's pause, Dirsus bolted forward, his bone armor rattling as he charged towards the goblin. Almost at the tree line, Dirsus got a hold on the goblin, pulling it off the ground and twisting himself into the air as his back hit the tree, stopping him mid-air.

When his feet hit the ground, Dirsus calmly walked over to the second cart, tossing the goblin in carelessly. He stood over the second cart, growling at the four within, hoping this time they would finally get the message. However, there was something about that Dirsus doubted. Which was proven when another one tried to leap out, only to be caught by the palm of Dirsus's hand.

Elenthias

Elenthias took notice of the woman that sat next to him however he didn't turn to her right away. Instead he drank his drink and listened as she spoke. A small smile came across his face as she couldn't quite decide what he was. "You're very perceptive. You're on the right path by guessing I'm a half breed." He said to her, but not confirming he was raised by humans.

As she holds out her hand for a handshake he takes it, shaking her hand in return. "It's a pleasure to meet you Catherine. I am Elenthias and no I am not a part of one of the guilds." He said with a small chuckle. Sure he had been hired by some of the guilds at times, but he had never claimed to be a part of one. "Now I perceive you are this town new ruler am I correct?" He asked in return.

---------------------------

Therlynn

Therlynn watched as something came tumbling out of one of the carts ahead of her. Being untrusting, she quickly drops the bag she was carrying and draws her bow. She doesn't release the arrow, however, but instead watches as a large creature jumps off of the now stopped carts and makes its way towards the crate that jumped out. She stayed ready to shoot, but soon let her guard drop a little as the large wolf like creature grabbed the small one and made his way back to the carts.

Therlynn put her arrow back in its quiver and draped the bow across her body as she picked up her bag and continued to walk once more, now approaching the carts that were stopped at the moment. As she got closer she caught a small glimpse of what the wolf man had gone after. "Are those goblins?" She questioned more to herself than anyone in particular as she stared at the man, her pace slowing a little as she got closer to the group.

After another few escape attempts by the goblins while Dirsus towered over the second, he finally turned around to see what was causing the green pests to get so excited. Staring straight at Therlynn for only a few moments, Dirsus let his ears flick as he leaned forward trying to get a focus on what was nearing the group. This stopped the moment that Dirsus heard the side of the cart squeak, sending a flaming palm clean into the jumping pest as it tumbled into the cart. Finally seeming to show some sign of pain, the lightly charred goblin let out a high pitched squeal as it tumbled back into the cart.

The lizardfolk sitting on the first cart turned at the sound of the goblin squealing. He looked over at Dirsus, then at what he could see of the goblins in the second cart. Shaking his head slightly, the lizardfolk looked around, trying to figure out what had the goblins testing Dirsus. Seeing what he thought was a darker human, the lizardfolk raised his hand in the air and waived towards the cart.

Elanthias

Elanthias couldn't help but chuckle a little as she complimented his manners. Little did she know his time of living with the elves and you had to have proper manners in his father's house. He understood why she would be surprised, however, because there were a lot of people now that had no manners at all.

"I thank you for your offer and I shall keep it in mind if I'm ever looking for a guild to join." He said as he offered the Roaring Thunder a kind smile while a dwarf approached them. He sat silently as he listened to the two, taking a swig from his drink. He began to wonder where his sister was and if she was okay. If she didn't show up soon he'd have to go out looking for her.

Therlynn

Therlynn watched the group closely and almost laughed a little as she watched the goblins keep trying to escape. She wondered why they kept trying when obviously the wolf man could keep catching them. He could obviously harm them easily as well.

She then noticed the lizard person waiving and she cautiously approached the group. "Are you all heading into town?" She asked as she looked in between the lizard folk and the wolf man. "If you are would you all mind if I hitch a ride into town?" She asked them while managing to give them a friendly smile. If they agreed she would hop up onto one of the carts, hitching a quicker ride into town knowing Elanthias would soon be worrying about her.

The lizardfolk kept a strangely friendly smile as he hissed and clicked. A moment later, the small leather necklace with a small white stone began to glow, and, in her native tongue, Therlynn would hear "Yes and yes. What is your name? I am Molut." Molut then leaned over patted one of the seat like sections of the cart. Leaning back up, Molut hissed again, this time the message "And the big guy over there is Dirsus, and if you sit in his spot, he would probably just sit on top of you."

After Therlynn took her seat on the cart, Dirsus would give one last snarl and a fire slap to the goblins. He then marched over to the cart, allowing his arms to sit idly off to the side. When getting back onto the cart, Dirsus slowly reached out and stepped on carefully, the cart creaking all the way till Dirsus had taken up his seat.

The cart arrived at the gates of town, only to be stopped by a closed gate. Several guards seemed to emerge from somewhere else in the wall, all with swords drawn. They walked towards the cart, before a deep snarl came from Dirsus, his pendent glowing and message "If you like having a gate, you won't keep hungry riflin still."

The closest of the guards, who moved in front of the two riflin that pulled the carts. The beasts looked up, each letting out a strange call before snorting and digging their feet into the ground. The guard didn't move till the one on the left threw its head down, letting the horn point directly into the crouch of the guard, who promptly moved out of the way. Letting out another call, the riflin marched forward outside of the control of those on the carts.

It was the fastest that Dirsus had ever seed a gate lift, but he still had to duck to not hit the gate on the way in. Guiding the two beasts to take the cart to a spot along the wall, Molut walked around the cart, the beasts calming at the familiar sound of the food sack reached their ears. Dirsus carefully exited the cart, stopping once his feet were on the ground to listen to the city.

Gram didn't know how long he had been running for someone with almost limitless stamina that kind of thing does not matter. The only thing that matters are the unfortunate victims who cross his path, even though this time Gram moved with a certain goal he would not reject the snacks that appeared on their own. The Monster stopped near to the walled town, it was a just wooden wall even if it was able to repel invaders or beasts with his strength break it, clim it, or simply jump over it.

Gram fought the urge to attack the prey guarding the perimeter, when it comes to hunting large herds you can't just attack the nearest prey since the others would be run in various directions even if you can chase them most would be able to escape. Becausa of that Gram developed a method of hunting after trial and error that guaranteed a lot of food. By using Spirit Magic began to invoke a lot of spirits, lizards snakes and similar critters began to appear one after another, weak beings who would disappear when hit by the weakest of the magics, useless beings exept for two things: Scouting and Magic.

Water Ball, perhaps the simplest and weakest magic, as the name implies creates a sphere of water whose offensive ability is almost zero it is usually used for daily chores like cleaning. It also can be used to chain with a spell of the lightning or ice type to increasing their effectiveness. Gram can only use basic Spirit Magic but somehow his memory contains a variety of spell unfortunately his spirits can only handle using Water Ball but that's all Gram need.

What happens when two magicians use the same magic at the same time with the same power against the same target?, The answer is simple, the effect is amplified the more magicians the greater the effect, of course the difficulty increases exponentially even so there priests and monks able to heal an army by gathering more than a hundred members. The same applies to the spirits, after half an hour when Gram did not move and at the expense of much of his magical power what should be a small amount of water under the influence of hundreds of spirits became a huge body of water that fell on the city.

The most fragile buildings collapsed under the weight and the cries announcing that chaos had begun reached his ears, full of joy Gram jumped over the wall and began to hunt down the confused prey, those who were carrying weapons and didn't lose them when the flood of Water hit them tried to fight back but in the end it was useless. For Gram the only drawback is that he can't afford to eat more than one or two bites, the faster he move the more prey he could hunt. He would take his timer to enjoy the feast once it's all over. In his mind someone capable of defeating him didn't exist here.

Once Elle stepped outside, she sighed softly, running a hand back through her coral waves. She didn't have much of a choice but to head back towards her ship, The Thorn, and towards another area of Mythos... Maybe even a completely different world all together if possible. As she headed towards the edge of the towards she froze mid step, glancing around curiously. Something felt off, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. But then she felt a small drop of water land on her cheek, causing her to look up but what she saw wasn't what she expected. Seeing a large amount of water over head, enough to fill a decent sized pond or lake.

Her eyes widen as she pivoted on her heels and ran back towards the tavern. But she wasn't fast enough. Her hand was on the handle of the door as the weight of all the water came crashing down on the town. The large amount of water slamming her into the door, knocking it over then flooding into the tavern. The water rolling her body into the bar. Her hands felt around vigorously in search of a stable object to grab onto, scared as her air supply was running out. She didn't want to die like this, drowning... it'd be the worst. Reaching up she finally felt the edge of the bar counter, gripping it tightly under with her digits, she hoisted herself up out of the flow of water, weakly pulling her torso over the bar. She laid her head there coughing up water and gasping for air, her drenched rose colored hair clinging to her peach skin. As she continued to gasp for air, she opened her ice blue eyes to the sight of the drunken dwarf that had locked eyes with her earlier, he was sitting at the bar next to where she coughed and chocked on the water.

When the flow of the water subsided, she stood up right weakly, bringing both hands up to brush back her dripping locks. Stray hairs sticking to her wet cheeks, while her clothing clung to her skin. She stood there dazed for a moment, trying to catch her breath and understand what just happened. She glanced back over to the dwarf who somehow still had a drink in his hand. "Can I?" She asked while already reaching for his glass, pressing it to her lips and drinking nearly half the contents before returning it to him. "Thanks... sorry... I needed a drink." Elle would softly laugh, quickly followed by another cough.

Dirsus stood still as the water rushed over his body, not phased by the force of the flood, even as it ran down the hill. Dripping for a few moments, Dirsus shook violently, the water flying off of his body as his bone armor raddled with the movement. Perking his ears up for a moment, which flicked around until Dirsus could hear something stir up the local humans. Taking two steps forward, he began to sprint, carefully taking turns and leaving ruts where slowed down for each one.

Normally Dirsus would have never have bothered, but whatever was causing the weaklings to scatter had caused the veer's fur to puff out like a snow dog. He hadn't spent nearly an hour this morning cleaning his fur for some weak, little mage to screw it up.

Coming around the corner, Dirsus saw the hideous desecration of a beast have a wind slash sent at it. Not even looking up to where the wind magic came from, the veer stabbed his feet into the ground and let out a deep, monstrous growl, and lit his hands ablaze. After standing for only a moment, or two, Dirsus began marching forward, his growl still going.

Elle, leaning against the bar, looked over towards this "ruler" curiously as the woman put her cloak over her shoulders. Her brow's furrowed in confusion at the gesture but nodded her head towards her in gratitude when the woman said, "You okay? If you have any injuries you should go to the town center, my officers know the drill and they should be preparing to help people." Then the woman whispered to her, "Oh, and don't work that magic on too many people, it'll get you killed with someone stronger willed." This rubbed Elle the wrong way. Regardless if she was a ruler or not what did it matter if she used her power or not? She was more than capable of handling herself in situations of trouble.

After she half drank the Dwarf's drink, he finally spoke to her "I can't say I wouldn't do the same." Well at least it was a bonus she didn't piss him off.

She couldn't help but smile at his comment, and chuckle softly, "At least I can cross 'Nearly drowning in a tavern' off my bucket list." She laughed softly.

It was then that the Dwarf rose from where he sat on the table, "Well, I guess it's my duty now to defend this city, you seem pretty tough. You're more than welcome to join me if you want." She sat there for a moment and contemplated after he ran off after the cat woman.

With a soft sigh, Elle stood up walking towards the door. As she walked past one of the tables she grabbed someone's ale and downed it, throwing the grog on the floor before exiting out the entrance. She slowly walked up the hill in the direction that the braver of the people headed in. She saw a tiger running up in that direction which she found odd unless they were some sort of shifter, entirely probable. Then the cat woman leader made her way up towards the person behind the flash flood, and when the woman was out of her sight, Elle heard a horn go off which she could only assumer was hers.

Taking her time as she headed up towards the epicenter of chaos, Elle reached behind her back hooking her fingers around a few throwing knives, being prepared for anything. She stood back though, watching intently as others were more likely to engage the creature than herself. She was prepared to defend herself, but also far enough away to flee if necessary.

Everything was going well, the place was packed with food, the preys barely tried to defend themselves and many just didn't know what was going on so didn't dare to flee. Gram's mouth watered releasing drops of poison that mixed with puddles of water while thinking of the future feast. He did not know how much time has passed since it began, Gram can't remember when but to him Time eventually lost its meaning. Whenever he have food he could survive and he can eat anything, whenever he can sleep doesn't need food or breathe, the type of creature that he became easily be defined as the Ultimate Predator.

While chasing a couple of preys he heard a horn and, within seconds, a blade made of wind impacted leaving a mark on his skin followed by a trail of blackish red blood he stopped. Basic wind magic, not strong enough to cause concern. Gram looked in the direction in which the blade came, standing there was a female with feline features and orange fur. With sword in hand and an aura of confidence that only those who fully trust their skills have. Probably the leader of the pack, sometimes happens, the leader goes to defend the weaker prey. Whether they can get enough time or not it's up to their skills, the preys has the absolute right to fight for their lives. Similarly Gram has the absolute right to devour them, he prepared for a fight.

"Hey buddy! Leave the people alone!"

Gram stopped when heard what the woman said, When was the last time someone called him in a remotely human way?. Gram has been called both Terror and Protector, but always with reverence and fear. And right now despite his appearance he was called "buddy" He could not help but laugh loudly, it was as if a child, a man and a snake were laughing at the same time, a completely unnatural voice.

As he laughed Gram realized that other prey were approaching, probably called by the horn, a growling wolf man , a dwarf, a tasty looking woman and other humans. "Gram, the name" said with the same unnatural voice before pouncing toward the cat woman, it's not as if she will be spared for making him laugh. Before coming to an attack range he stopped abruptly, the growling wolf man he had ignored before did something with his hands and for him everything went to red.

The pain and fear deeply engraved in his twisted soul, returned once again. The pain of his charred limbs, the pitifulness of having to crawl in the mud and dirt to eat every memory related to the fatidic day surfaced. Fire, his only fear and greatest enemy was present before him and threatened to finish what started decades ago. Gram jumped back and began to spit poison in large quantities.

Using the advantages of his body to the maximum, he ran, he passed over food and preys but he didn't even spare them a glance, his top priority was to get as far from the fire as possible. When he reached the wall Gram didn't bother to jump or climb, he rushed through the wooden wall, leaving behind a few drops of blood and wood chips. The aberration left the town on the hill as suddenly as it appeared. Without sleep, without stopping and without realizing it will head towards his first hunting ground. His birthplace Tiderpool.

Damon stalked down the hill when he heard the thud of large feet and rattle of bone armor. Great we have an angry Veer in the town. jumping out of the way just before the Veer trampled him. As he walked through the lower part of the city making sure that no kids got hurt he found the man he was looking for earlier pinned under two of his men, that had been knocked unconscious during the flood. The man looked up and Damon, "P-please help me get out of here." Damon smirked "I have a better plan." he responded pulling out his katana and slashing the man's head off.

Once Damon had searched the city, having to save a couple children, he looked up at the sky to find the creature gone. "Well looks like I have nothing else to do in the city. Time to go to another." As he got near the gates of the city he found a goblin harassing a kid. The goblin quickly found an arrow in it's head, looking around he saw a swarm of them in an area with two carts, a half-elf and a lizard man. Nope, not my problem, I'm out. He thought to himself walking out of the gates and following the road.
