P s y c h o l o g i c a l:
Kadesh is a man of infinite patience and endless cunning. For his entire life he has fought wars across the Dalelands, manipulated his enemies, rewarded his followers, loved his family and lost every friend he has ever made. For Kadesh the means always justifies the end and there is no person he cannot convince to his ways, or kill them if he cannot. His mastery of languages and a youth spent in the library of his fathers castle has earned him the nickname "Kadesh the Scholar", though there are many who have misinterpreted that for a lack of military skill, much to their dismay.

P r o f i l e :
Kadesh looks more like his mothers people than his fathers. Black hair, dark eyes and permanently tanned skin hint at his Kirhareshie lineage. His not taller or stronger than other men, in fact he seems rather average at five-feet nine-inches, his one-hundred and eighty pounds sculpted into a body of lean fighting muscle. His eyes however leave no doubt as to his intelligence and the steel of his soul.

K i n d r e d:
Kadesh is married, and in the tradition of his mothers people, but in a rather strange role reversal, he has three wives. They have given him fourteen children, only nine of which still live. His enemies are many, though most of them do not realize that the soft-spoken man is manoeuvring them into a position where he can strike swiftly.

F e a t s:
If a Northman were to engage in an arm wrestle with Kadesh, he would most likely tear the Counts arm clean form its socket. He is tough, wiry, and fast, but massive strength is not on of his feats. As a field commander he has shown that he can act swiftly and decisively whenever it is required and, like the best commanders, he leads from the front. He is respected by his men for his fighting ability and his leadership qualities. Off the battlefield he is soft spoken, friendly and even gregarious most of the time. Perhaps his greatest feat, and the one held in highest esteem by friend and foe alike, is his ability to lead a siege. There are few others in the world who can lay siege so flawlessly as Kadesh, nor claim as many fortresses taken.

A r s e n a l: P
Kadesh prefers the lighter, more flexible armour of his mothers people, though he has added some plates for extra protection. He fights with a long-sword and simple round shield. Like all men of rank he has items to mark him as such and the silver trim on his helmet marks him an important person indeed. He has taken the time to learn the art of the scimitar and bow to round out his fighting skills. Around his neck he wears a great golden sun inset with a fiery red ruby.

A r c h i v e:
Kadesh was born into the war between Croasaire and Kirharesh. His parents, a powerful female Kirharesh Countess, married his father, a Croasaire Baron, in the hopes of creating peace between their peoples and their shared border in the south of the Dalelands. It was not to be. As the wars tore the region apart a young Kadesh was sheltered for much of the early years of his life in his fathers castle at Kallai. He spent this time studying all he could on siege warfare, the art of war, and mastering foreign tongues so that he might one day takes his fathers place.

The time came all to soon when Kirharesh troops, led by his mothers sister, surged from the south and managed to kill his father and elder brother. They laid siege to Kallai Castle for three years. During that time the garrison took heart from the young Count, only twelve years old, who waged a stunning defence. His was the only Castle to remain untaken when the southern Dalelands at last fell completely under the rule of the Kirhreshie. The Kirharesh Queen, impressed by the young mans skill, agreed to leave him his fathers lands and title in exchange for swearing fealty. Faced with the prospect of an endless siege, Kadesh agreed, becoming one of the very few men to hold rank in Kirharesh.

There was peace for some time and the young Count soon married, at the Queens recommendation, and eventually converted, formally adopting his mothers lineage. The Dalelands rejoiced the peace that had come at last but Kadesh was no fool, he could see the clouds of war on the horizon and while others danced and sang, he built fortresses. When war came again to the Dalelands in 1400 and Kadeshj was waiting for it. As Croasairen troops smashed Kirhareshie stronghold after stronghold he welcomed the displaced soldiers of slain nobles until, as the Croasairen armies swept south, he made his stand.

The lands granted to him by his fathers death sat in the south-western portion of the Dalelands and straddled the border included lands granted to him upon his mothers death. The old borders had been drawn along a spiny ridge of mountains that looked like great razors, and he ruled everything between the mountains and the sea. When the Croasarian armies came they would break upon the Spine of the Dale like waves upon a cliff.

Vicious fighting began in the mountains and men died screaming in the narrow rain cut gullies or on the once wondrous trade roads Kadesh had ordered destroyed to prevent enemy troop movement. For two years the Croasarian armies would throw themselves against the line of Castles Kadesh had built and for two years their men died screaming beneath the walls.

It looked as if history was to repeat itself as Kirharesh was swept from the Dalelands and Croasarian armies marched deep into the enemy homeland. The Count of Kallai clung stubbornly to his holdings and even a naval assault could not dislodge his armies or break the spirit of his resistance. King Caederyn himself rode forth to demand the surrender of Kadesh and his forces, promising them mercy and continued rule for Kadesh if he agreed.

Kadesh requested a week to consider. It was within several days of this that King Caederyn was called away as news of a possible alliance began to spread. For the moment Kadesh and his small armies have been forgotten, hemmed in by Croasarian troops, their loyalty to the Queen of Kirharesh still firm.
