Personality
Lacie is very caring and kind. She cares immensely for Amber, and her maternal instincts are strong. She also cares greatly for her friends, and will do anything to support them. She isn't very forthcoming about her past, especially regarding Amber's father, but if she cares about someone and trusts someone greatly enough, then it all has to come spilling out eventually. When Lacie finally opens up to someone, you know that there is not a doubt in her mind that she trusts you.

History
Lacie was 19 years old when she got pregnant with Amber. The father was a man named Peter Malone, a real crowd pleaser. He gave her nice objects, said some sweet lines, and agreed to raise the baby with her and eventually marry her. And why wouldn't Lacie believe him? He was Amber's father, of course she could trust him. But he took all her money and ran, leaving her 7 months pregnant, broke, and completely alone. With no where else to go, she called her best friend from high school and got together. She helped Lacie get through college and the first two years of Amber's life. Now, Lacie, Amber, and her three best friends are just about to begin the race of life.

Lacie started her day with Amber in her left arm and a sippy cup full of milk in her right. She bounced Amber up and down while quietly trying to get out a bowl of cereal without waking her friends. She sat Amber down in her high chair at the corner of the table and placed the bowl in front of her.

"Okay, sweets, time for breakfast." Lacie whispered, kissing Amber's soft brown curls and handing her a spoon. The child had finally learned to feed herself, but still couldn't reach the table or sit still in a chair. While Amber was eating, Lacie started a pot of coffee, knowing everyone would need it. Kyler, Bruce, and Faith had moved in a few days ago and were still getting adjusted to living together, especially with a roaming toddler. But, everyone loved Amber, so it wasn't like it was problem. Turning to look at her daughter, Lacie smiled and Amber smiled back, spilling milk and cheerios from her tiny mouth. Lacie made a suprised face with cheerful eyes.

"Uh oh!" Amber said and Lacie chuckled, wiping her chin and discarding of the empty bowl. She picked Amber up out of the high-chair and placed her on the ground in front of the island. Lacie got an idea then and smiled mischeviously at her mini me. "Hey, Amber, want to do something fun to wake up Auntie Faith and your uncles?" She asked and Amber smiled, nodding her head erratically. Lacie smiled at her, nodding as well. "Alright, when I count to three, we're both going to scream as loud as we can, okay? 1...2...3!" And with that, they both screamed at the top of their lungs, effectively awakening the rest of the household.

Faith shot up in her bed, eyes wide in surprise as if a cold bucket of ice water was thrown upon her every nerve. Her heart was beating rapidly and for a second, she thought she was having a panic attack. She had not had one of those since she was ten and one of the girls almost dropped her in a stunt during a cheer-leading competition. However, after a few seconds, she found herself throwing her body back on the comfortable warmth and growling, kicking her feet childishly and covering her face with her hands.

Who in the hell told them that it was time to wake up?

After about three minutes, Faith tore the covers off her body and sat up again, this time sliding her legs over the side of the bed. Yawning softly, she stood, slid her feet into the slippers she took out last night (because God knows that even she knew she had a lot of clothes), threw on her robe, and headed towards the door. Finally, she swung her door open groggily. As soon as she entered the kitchen, she tossed a dirty look Lacie's way and grinned at Amber.

"Good morning, gorgeous," she cooed at the two year old and swooped her up in arms, throwing the toddler in the air carefully before catching her. She twirled them around while talking, "Did mommy tell you to wake everyone up?" Another glare was directed at Lacie over Amber's shoulders. "Well, thank you, pumpkin. I'd love to get waken up by you any day."

After setting a giggling Amber down and pecking the child's forehead, Faith trudged towards the thankfully full coffee pot. As she searched for a mug, she glanced at Lacie over her shoulder.

"So, what's the plan today, Lace?" She found a mug and proceeded to fix herself some much needed caffeine.

Sleep, that's what Kyler was enjoying at the moment. He was getting used to the new timezone again, but at least when he was asleep he wouldn't have to worry about all of that. Klyer smiled in his sleep, shifting slightly in his bed.
A scream ripped through the air and Kyler jerked his head up and fell out of his bed, hitting his head on the bedside table as he did. The young man swore under his breath as he clutched his forhead in pain. What the hell is going on? He thought as he stood up and quickly left the room he shared with Bruce. Bruce, Bruce, Bruce. He was a little more uptight then Kyler remembered. Oh well, he'll get used to it.

"What's going on?" He asked as he looked at Lacie and Amber, "Is there a guy trying to kill you or did you see a bug?" His lips quirked in a smile as he walked up to them, patting Amber on the head and looked at Lacie. It was obvious it was a joke, first day into the apartment and Lacie was already pulling tricks.

"But seriously, I am still getting use to the bloody timezone again, tricks aren't helping." When he spoke, a loud yawn escaped him and he walked into the kitchen where Faith was getting herself a cup of coffee. He probably looked like a mess, bedhead and wearing only gym shorts and a simple t-shirt. Whatever, didn't matter. He poured himself a cup of coffee and then continued to add creamer and sugar.

"So, what's the plan today, Lace?" Faith asked and Kyler's gaze flickered over at her and then at Lacie, "Yes, please tell." He asked, leaning against the counter that faced out towards where Lacie and Amber were standing. He caught the little girl staring at him and he smiled at her before looking back up at her mother.

His eyes opened slowly wanting to just stay in bed. A small headache arose from the bright lights and loud screaming. It had been a rude awakening and he knew that it was only the beginning, he was sure that other mornings would start off just as annoying and unnecessary as this one.
Each moment Bruce could feel his voice become audible and with a harsh tone he spoke from his bed.
"Some of us have to work and go to school and don't have time to just scream all day!" His face nuzzled back into the pillow and groaned, he could hear them complain in his head.
I guess I might as well get up. Bruce thought as he stretched and planted his feet on the ground, his whole body ached. He wore loose, light blue plaid, pajama pants and a white under shirt.
He slowly grunted his way to the kitchen where he met all his friends with a solemn look, and went straight for the coffee.
Bruce only gave a small nod, his way of saying good morning, before sitting down.
Short glances at each one was given by Bruce with a small smile. Lacie and Amber were together, and got the longest of the gazes, Bruce felt protected of them the most for Lacie had been truly hurt. They(Kyle, Faith, and Lacie) were all equal in his eyes as friends, but they did not need the protecting hand he felt Lacie deserved.
He patted Amber on the hand before have a sip of coffee.
"Yes please tell" Kyle had responded but Bruce, not knowing what had been said, asked.
"What?" His face had a tired and confused look, with a hint of agitation.

Lacie laughed and leaned against the counter as Faith twirled Amber in the air.

"Mowe, Auntie Faith, mowe!" Amber squealed, giggling as Faith put her down. She couldn't quite pronounce her r's yet, and it only made her that much more adorable. Lacie stuck her tongue out at her best friend who glared at her. Faith went to the coffee pot and Amber ran over to Lacie sticking her arms up in the air and smiling. "Up!" Amber demanded and Lacie laughed before scooping her daughter into her arms and giving her a loud smooch on her temple.

Kyler walked in then, "What's going on? Is there a guy trying to kill you or did you see a bug?" Lacie giggled and shook her head, her caramel-colored hair falling in front of her face.

"I think we did good, mini me." Lacie said to Amber and Amber giggled at the nickname. She understood almost everything, but she couldn't speak in fluent sentences quite yet.

"But seriously, I am still getting use to the bloody timezone again, tricks aren't helping." Lacie pouted and looked at Amber guiltily.

"What do we say, Amber?" Amber pouted back and looked at Kyler.

"Sowwy, Uncle Kylah." She said. Lacie giggled and gave Amber a high-five as Bruce entered the kitchen, nodding at them all and giving Lacie and Amber a long look. Lacie smiled at him, not really able to discern what the look meant entirely.

Faith and Kyler asked what the plans were and Lacie pursed her lips. Bruce asked and Lacie, turned to the three of them, a comical sight with coffee in their hands and robes wrapped around their bodies.

"Just discussing plans," she said, thinking. She sighed and cocked her head, bouncing Amber on her hip to keep her interested. "Well, we could go out, we could stay in, doesn't matter. Once Amber goes down for her n-a-p then we can do whatever. Although, do you guys have work?" She asked of her friends, wondering who would stay and play with Amber and her today.

Faith was just finishing when Kyler walked in. She grabbed her mug and propped herself up onto the island, crossing her ankles daintily. Sure enough, Bruce was in and it felt like...home to see all of them together again. It reminded her that two years was way too long to spend away from your best friends. These were the people that had seen her grow, that had always been there when those fake cheerleaders weren't. It wasn't until seeing them all together, the little ray of sunshine included, that Faith realized how much she honestly missed them. She almost missed Lacie talking and caught the end of it.

"Although, do you guys have work?"

"No, not really," Faith replied. "I still have a few designs I need to finish and my meeting with my board isn't until tomorrow. So, I'm relatively free." She grinned at Amber. "And I bet baby girl would looove to go to the park with Auntie Faith." She spoke lowly to the child as if the others would not hear her. "I'm a lot more fun than mommy." Faith sent a playful grin Lacie's way and glanced at the guys. "What about you two?"

"What about you two?" Faith turned to the now fully awake Bruce.
"I have work in about an hour, and then have classes all week till nine." Just the idea of the day seemed too much to bare. He let out a groan rubbing his eyes. With a low sigh he mumbled. "What a pain."
"I suppose skipping a day couldn't hurt." He smiled slightly to himself, he would regret speaking this out loud, but the idea of being all together with his friends was just too much to think about going to a full day of work and school.

Bruce looked at Amber and winked. Though children was not something Bruce could see himself having one day, he did find the young child cute with brown curly locks. But even the cuteness would never have Bruce speaking in "baby talk", it was something that he would simply never do.
"So it seems that Amber will have a fun day, with Faith, Lacie and myself, how about you Kyle? You in?" He turned to his friend with half-ass smile.

"Eh, I'm jobless at the moment." Kyler commented as he looked at Bruce, "So I'm in." He yawned again, rubbing his jaw as he looked at everyone else. It was so good to see his friends again. While he loved Europe, Boston was home and he was glad to be back. Two years had been a long time since seeing them, physically, and the fact that he was actually around them was somewhat comforting.

He looked at Amber, "Want to hang out with us today, Sweetheart?" He asked, a crooked smile on his face as he looked at the toddler. While Kyler never imagined himself having a child, he loved the little girl, despite he only met her a few weeks ago. He ran a hand through his hair, which he was sure was sticking up in every which way.

Lacie smiled in glee as everyone agreed to spend the day and not go to work. Especially Bruce, who was very into the workaholic personel. Amber smiled too as everyone spoke to her individually and Lacie hugged her close.

"Yay!" Amber exclaimed, clapping her hands, sensing the happiness in the air.

"Alright, so I'm assuming you guys want to get dressed fir--" The phone ringing suddenly cut her off and she reached to pick it up, holding it to her ear and placing Amber on the ground, who pouted at the lack of warmth, and settled with running over and motioning to Faith that she wanted to be carried by her now. "Hello?" Lacie asked, answering the phone and giving an apologetic glance to her friends.

"Hey, Racey Lacie." A familiar voice on the other line caused Lacie to freeze and suck in a sharp breath.

"Peter?" She whispered, walking away from the group and stepping out onto the balcony so she could speak in private. The only one she had ever really talked to about Amber's father had been Faith, and she didn't want the others to think anything was up.

"Well, hey, you recognized me. How you been, Lacie? How's my little girl?" The fake compassion in his voice made her sick with disgust.

"Since when do you care?" She accused, letting the venom in her voice mask the hurt she was feeling as the wound of his absence reopened after over two years.

"Now now, is that really the way you speak to your child's father?"

"You're no father to her, you bastard."

"I want to see her, Lacie." Lacie's eyes widened and she sat down hard on the balcony chair.

"You have no right. You've never been there for her. You don't even know her name." Lacie whispered angrily, unable to truly project her voice.

"Of course I do. Ambrosia." Lacie gave a sharp, sarcastic laugh at this.

"Her name is Amber. Like I said, Peter, no way in hell you're seeing my daughter." And with that, she hung up sharply and threw the phone across the balcony to the other chair. She blew out the breath she had been holding and put her head in her hands, wondering, why now?

Amber's smile had Faith grinning from ear to ear, her dimples forming with excitement.

"Yaaayyy!!" She clapped her hands together with her play-niece, giggling at the glee and utter happiness shining in the little girl's eyes. Just as Lacie began talking again, the phone rang. Faith's eyes narrowed suspiciously as Lacie's face froze. She picked up a pouting Amber and gave her a sweet Eskimo kiss, all the while watching her best friend. Faith wasn't even sure if the guys picked up on the seriously chilled look on Lace's face.

After only a few moments of Lacie being gone, worry bubbled up inside her gut. She paced back and forth for a second, bouncing Amber in her ears. The child only giggled and cheered and Faith twirled her just to keep the child occupied. She couldn't just leave her alone, but Lacie out on that balcony didn't sound like a good idea either...

"Amber, can you be a big girl for Auntie Faith?" She begged the little girl and set her down. The answering pout and nod touched Faith's heart and she knelt to the girl, holding her little face in her hands. "Stay with Uncle Kyler and Uncle Bruce. Auntie Faith will be right back and I promise I will spend all of my time with you, okay? I will buy you all the ice cream in the world." Amber pouted even more.

"Pinkie sweaw?" Faith found herself chuckling under her breath at the seriousness that gleamed in Amber's gorgeous dark eyes and she hooked her bigger pinky with the child's.

"Pinky swear." Faith stood and glanced at the guys, "Watch her for a moment, guys." She walked out towards the balcony and had just stepped out onto it when the phone flew past her line of vision into the chair. Faith's eyes widened in alarm as she took in her friend's face. Without even having to be told the situation, Faith's eyes widened and she placed her hands on her hips. "Who the hell am I killing? And please, Lace...for the love of all that is holy, don't let it be who I think it is..."

Lacie looked to Faith as she entered the balcony and seeing Amber with Kyler and Bruce, Lacie sighed, nodding.

"Yeah, it was Peter." She rubbed her eyelids with the heels of her hands and arched her back, stretching away the stress. "He wants to see her, Faith. I don't know what to do. Obviously, I can't let him, but he's never been one to just let things go."

She looked to her best friend pleadingly. "What do I do?"

The second Lacie turned those pleading eyes to Faith, Faith engulfed the other brunette in a warm hug, rubbing her back soothingly. On her face and in the way she held Lacie, she remained soothing and calm. On the inside, however, she was seething with a suppressed rage that many would be surprised to see her with. Faith did not hold in her anger often. After a few moments, she pulled back enough to stare into Lacie's eyes.

"You go in there and smile for your little girl. And you spend today with her and your friends as if nothing else is wrong," she told her friend. Emotion nearly choked Faith up for a moment, but she swallowed it down. "You do not let him have any power over you or that precious angel. You've been doing great so far without him and you will do even better with us, do you understand me?" She shook Lacie just a little, as if to emphasize her words. "And if that slimy bastard even considers coming after you or Amber, we'll be ready for him and he'll have one hell of a fight if he thinks he's taking her. But you are not in this alone, Lace. Not ever."
