a character in “Cirque Du Soir”, as played by 0neTailedf0x

Description

Name: Callus Makara
Stage Name: Makra
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Role: Freak, entertainer.
Blood Type: O

~~~
Eye Color: Purple irises with yellow scleras.
Hair Color: Black
Dressing Style: He keeps his clothes nice, simple, and for the occasion. He usually wears a black performers suit, with voodoo-like teeth hanging from a necklace he wears. The buttons on his suit are made from a material people aren't very known to have. He wears white face-paint, resembling a skull and hiding the three diagonal scars he has.
Weight: 167
Height: 6'0"
~~~

Likes: Clowns, fire-breathing, murder, madness, dismay, entertaining, and carnivals.
Dislikes: Police, questions, geniuses, and early closings.
Habits: Occasional bouts of losing concentration, speaking quietly, and scaring people.
Crush:
Personality: Callus lives to entertain or kill, which is why he would rather entertain. He prefers making people try to figure out the trick behind his magic, which usually makes them come back for more. He will, when not performing, live in a made up world where he is the clown of a "Dark Carnival". He does quite a good job of hiding his three diagonal scars, which he hates to show people. He will, when needed, use his freakish power to change his appearance. He tends to stray from violence, but he can snap and let his urges free. He is at his best when performing, when he can let his power free without restraint. He may occasionally need to be kept in check, but a couple of words can usually bring him back to his senses. He takes a liking to those who work for the circus, usually thinking of them as family. He is mostly laid-back and lenient, which will probably lead to his death.

~~~
Skills: He has naturally pale skin, purple blood that fills his eyes and veins, horns on his head. He has a strange ability that allows him to cause hallucinations or illusions to people, from being burned alive to swimming in water. Usually these hallucinations don't affect the physical body, but there is the rare occasion where person's body tricks itself into fighting something that isn't here, as in contracting a trachea to stop from drowning.
Family:
Makra, Callus Makara, awoke in his caravan. He was mostly used to the strange schedule, but he occasionally woke up tired due to his internal clock being confused. He stretched his body, feeling slightly energetic. He had forgotten to ask if he had any performances scheduled that day, but he could ask later. He touched his face, feeling the scar that was on it. He would have to apply makeup and hide that scar, or he could end up scaring the people who would come to the circus. He wasn't very self-conscious, but three diagonal scars could get people asking questions, and questions usually led to trouble. He had a small bed made for sleeping, but that's all it was: a simple bed.
He got out of his bed and tidied it up, not wanting to be a slob. He never took off his necklace, for reasons he would rather not reveal. He looked towards the corner of his caravan, seeing his stage suit laid neatly down. He decided to not put the suit on, and to instead put on a simple shirt. The shirt was black with the sign of a Capricorn on it, not that he would his birthday. He went to the mirror on the inside of the caravan, and began hiding the scars he never showed anyone. He decided to to do the simple skeleton-like make-up he always used. He rarely needed anything for his acts, which was the reason his room appeared quite bland. He sighed, having no idea what he would do for a performance. He could do literally anything he wanted, but it was hard to choose what to do.
He exited his caravan slowly and calmly. His neck was a bit stiff from sleeping wrongly, but he could fix it with a simple crack. It was nuisance to sleep with horns on your head, but he had gotten used to it like many things. He didn't fear anything that went bump in the night, because he was one of those things. Most attendants to the circus thought that his horns and pale skin were simply part of a well-made costume, but he didn't care. It was better for people to think that his natural body was a costume than for them to know that he actually did have horns on his head. He didn't fear normal people, being able to easily change how he looked to them with a couple of seconds.
He wasn't quite used to the sun, his vision mostly nocturnal. He blocked his eyes from the sun's rays temporarily, then slowly let his hands away from his face. He stood still, looking upwards without anything to do. The day was seeming as if it would be boring.
Brink Orpheus
Brink was wandering about when he spotted Callus his friend. "Up early Callus?" Brink strode toward the man and blinked. His friend was unlike himself what they called a freak personally though Brink thought he was cool and fascinating and interesting but mostly he just saw Callus as a good friend he could actually talk to instead of like with everyone where he had to answer there questions approve things and well was seen as a boss not friend. Well there was always Nixie but him and his cousin had a very odd relationship he would worry about her and protect her and she despite her blatant innocence would somehow end up in some situation where she would nearly kill herself. Brink rubbed his temples at the thought of Nixie she was more helpful then disastrous but either way it was stressful...
~ . ~
Nixie Blue:
Nixie was busy focusing on making food when she was greeted by Lenka, and jumped a little in shock luckily she'd not hurt herself. Nixie turned and waved at the girl before turning back right as she was about to grab the pan another voice jumped in causing Nixie to jump she was never the most alert. This time however her small jump caused her to move her small hand and burn it on the pan. Immediately Nixie bit down on her tongue so as not to yelp in pain. Instead she walked over calmly to the sink and ran cold water on the burn she always carried band-aid's as this was a regular occurrence.
Nixie looked over at Derrick and smiled her head wing's fluttering in both a form of annoyance and embarrassment at him calling her dear and love."Hi and no thank you really I'm fine I have everything ready I was just making a few more things... I always worry that everyone doesn't get enough." Nixie turned back and looked at her red burnt finger she would leave it under the water only a little longer. "Oh if there's anything specific you two want I'd gladly make it! After all I still have some time." Nixie's bright red eye's shimmered and her white little wings twitched and moved on there own accord reflecting her mood which at the moment was a strange mixture of pain, happiness and over all naive-ness to the obvious awkward tension in the room. Of course she could not feel it. Nixie believed everyone liked each other at the circus and each person was so unique the strange girl could not help but admire them all in some way.
"Up early Callus?" Brink, someone Callus considered a friend, had just approached him. Callus didn't very much think his own name was appropriate, since 'callus' didn't mean anything as far as he knew, but he couldn't do anything about it. "I'm not used to the schedule yet." He admitted. He probably should have been used to it, but he was just not a normal person. "You look stressed," He started, "are you holding up well?" He asked, sitting down on the floor. He could attempt simple small talk, but that would probably not work, and he guessed that Brink would enjoy talking about himself more.
The wind made a strange noise as it went around his horns, but he had gotten used to the noise quite a while ago. He pulled back his hair with his hands, a half-hearted attempt to straighten it. The attempt didn't do anything other than provide Callus with something to do. God, was his hair annoying to take care of. He decided that he would no longer care for it, not that he could if he wanted to. His piercingly purple eyes were focused on Brink, as to not appear rude. Callus resisted the urge to touch his scars quite well, not even showing a bit of tension in his body.
Brink Orpheus
Brink laughed gently. "I'm only stressed because of Nixie... She's been wild as ever lately." Brink looked over at his friend and chuckled lightly as he messed around with his hair. "I think we should get food into you so you actually have energy to deal with the large amounts of people who will be drawn to your ever amazing show my friend." Brink ran a hand through his hair once again. He may have offered the food as a suggestion but really he was prepared to not give his friend a choice in the matter.
~ . ~
Nixie Blue
Nixie was starting to feel over-whelmed as people stepped in and out of the kitchen doing there own thing and eating. To be honest the wind headed girl was not sure how to deal with it all and was about to tend to everyone when Derrick called back her attention by pulling her hand out from under the water. She winced when he kissed it but that was soon forgotten when he apologized. "Oh no need Derrick It's my fault for not being aware of everything this morning." When he insisted on making it up to her, she flapped her head wings wildly and flailed. "No n-no! It's my job to take care of everyone I don't wanna burden you..." She paused. Derrick was fairly new and with all the errands she'd had to run lately she had not had time to actually see Derrick's performance. Huffing so as not to see like she was giving in to the boy she looked away. "But I guess if you insist... Then I hope to maybe catch your performance but aside that I forbid you going out of your way!" Nixie's head wing's opened widely to show that would be where she draws the line.
Nixie looked around at everyone else in the kitchen. "Brink is still busy I think or asleep... Oh I forgot about fruit! Oh Lenka Alynna everyone I'm sorry!" Nixie ran over to the fridge and opened it pulling out various fruits. "Ah... We only have some apples and peaches..." Nixie sighed and crossed her arms. "I hope you guys don't mind apples and peaches she smiled awkwardly making a mental note to talk to Brink later about going into town... They probably needed some meat as well for the lions and other animals. Maybe she would stay awake after the night and go into town she would end up dead tired but she could always catch up on sleep later.
Callus smiled calmly, relieved that there wasn't anything too serious wrong with his friend. "I guess I don't have very much of a choice." He held his hands up in mock surrender. "You'd probably force feed me if I tried resisting." He joked, not sure if his friend actually would do that. He gently touched the top of his right horn, making a bit of blood come out of his finger. Yep, his horns were as sharp as ever. He could probably use them as a weapon, an inconvenient one at that. "I hope I don't pass out while in the middle of the show, that would be embarrassing." He had before passed out, but that was when he was just starting out in the circus. He had built up stamina since then, and he was fairly confident that he wouldn't exhaust himself.
Living in the circus wasn't so bad. Sure, he was a freak, but it was better than being a lab rat. His horns were sensitive, which was a reason for him not letting people touch them. He stood up, his tall stature clearly visible. He was beginning to resemble his father, mostly in appearance. He rarely talked about his family, preferring to keep his past a secret. Most signs of his normal self disappeared when asked a question, replaced by a violent and cold-hearted jerk.
"I'm going to eat now. I don't want you forcing me to eat." He joked, still unsure if his friend actually would force-feed him. He began walking in the direction he thought the kitchen was in. He just hoped he wasn't by chance heading to the lion's den. Big predatory animals tended to stay away from Callus, thinking of him as a monster-like creature. He probably resembled some species that died out a long time ago.
Brink Orpheus
Brink watched Callus walk off to get 'food'. Your going the wrong way genius! The blonde huffed before forcibly picking up Callus and swinging him up and over his shoulder. "And your right I will force feed you no one in my Circus goes under fed then is forced to perform this includes you!" Brink carried Callus away until they reached there destination. Walking into the tent he smiled seeing his little cousin Nixie being her oblivious caring self and the others though he noticed a few were missing.
Brink gently plopped Callus down before forcing him to sit. "Now eat!" The words came out harsher then Brink intended this was... The norm for him the older boy could not help but always seem rude, uncaring, cold or scary. On several occasion's he'd asked Nixie to teach him to not be but it always resulted in his cousin just un-sure how to help.
~ . ~
Nixie Blue
Nixie blinked as her cousin walked in and set down Callus. "BRINK!" Nixie's head wings opened widely. "Don't force the man to eat what if he's sick!" She huffed and crossed her arms only to have Brink stare at her. "If he was sick then food would give him strength." Nixie faltered at his remark. "Well! In any case Miss Alynna was looking for you!" Huffing annoyed by her defeat Nixie crossed her arms annoyed her cheek's bright red and her red eyes looking in any way that was not making contact with her older cousin's only gray eye.
Synthia woke up sleepy eyes under a tree, she had fallen asleep watching the sun-rise again, she stood up sore and pulled her knives out of the tree. She had been practicing for her show, she usually did that after catching a glimpse of the other performances she always loved that. She stretched out and carefully put her knives in a little pouch she had. She could smell Nixie's omelets, she loved thoughs so she followed the scent all the way to the kitchen. hesitantly sticking her head in and saw Brinks, standing next to Callus and Nixie was in the kitchen with Lenka looking through the cupboards. She bite her lip and walked in quietly and sat down and grabbed on of the plates, she stared down at the food she looked at Callus. His horns always fascinated her, she always thought they were real even though she heard people say they weren't she never really asked him about them though. She looked at Nixie and than at Brink she wondered why they were acting like this so early in the morning, she would listen and wonder about it until they said something. Barely whispering "good morning" she wondered where everyone else is, Julius might be sleeping in the Lions den again, Derrick was probably annoying someone as usual.
She grabbed a fork and set it next to her plate, than smelled the food it smelled really good it made her stomach growl even. She didn't eat the night before and she saw Brink give other people a hard time about eating afterwards, she wondered if he noticed that she didn't eat anything. Probably not, she usually kept to herself because no one would really talk to her.
pulling out a knife and used a cloth she had in her pocket and started polishing it, when it shone and shined some light in her eye she blinked and put it back in her pocket. She loved polishing her knives even though she ran out of shiner and was scared to ask Brink to get her some more, his cold demeanor sometimes sent a shiver down her spine.
Ash wasn't one for staying around people for long. Usually enough to get what she needed or listen in on what was going on and leave before anything way a miss. However, the smell of the food made her stomach protest her wandering. She looked behind her, watching her smaller kin stop behind her. She smiled to herself, turning around to lower herself and greet them. "Go see what the others are doing. I'll be back in a little bit." She said as they seemed to raise their front legs at her and scatter to different parts of the carnival as they usually did.
She wandered into the tent, scittering in carefully as she tried to not get in the way of anyone for the moment. She tilted her head to the side, seeing Brink trying to force Callus to eat. Not that this was uncommon to her, but started to pace a bit. "M-Morning Brink. M-morning Nixie." She studdered, fidgeting her front legs a bit out of nervousness. It was well known that Ash wasn't the most socially adept out of everyone in the troop, but at least she tried in some cases rather than just staying in the back.
The food smelled like heaven, thought chairs where not. She simply lowered herself at the table and began to eat, watching the others as she tapped at the ground with her legs. Synthia was polishing her knife again, Callus...she wasn't all to sure and Nixie looking defeated from what she assumed was an earlier argument with Blink. She shrugged at bit, looking to eat as quickly as her she could without choking again.
Brink Orpheus
Brink ran a hand through his hair and listened as people began to ask questions... "Alynna..." Brink's tone was it's cold serious-self when he stared at the girl. "I'm fine with you performing I know your capable... But... Just be careful." Brink touched his eye patch. "Even someone who thinks they know what there doing can end up hurt... I am all to aware of this." Brink let his hand drop from his eye patch and sighed. "You have my permission just take every safety precaution." More people were drifting in to eat... Well at least they were eating or sitting near food.
Brink finally directed his gaze to the twins Maya and Mia. They were kind girls and unlike most he wasn't bothered by the fact they were conjoined. He tried a smile but it came out awkward and strange as always... Brink was one of those people who only smiled rarely and forcing himself only made it weird. Finally he gave up and just nodded. "What would our Circus be without singers... Your tent for tonight was set up last night you should go there and make sure everything is as you need it."
Finally having taken care of the numerous questions tossed his way Brink looked over to everyone else and glared. "Nixie prepared this food now I expect it to be eaten and enjoyed! I have enough issue's to attend without the health of my friends being on my mind." Brink gruffly crossed his arm before finally taking his own seat with a huff.
~ . ~
Nixie Blue
Nixie watched Brink run a hand through his hair. Despite the fact her cousin looked annoyed or stressed Nixie knew from experience that wasn't the case. Brink just wasn't any good at socializing each time he did he sounded like an army general or a murderer. Of course alone in there caravan that wasn't the case mainly because her older cousin would try and treat her like a princess much to her dismay. I mean when she was younger it was pleasant but now a days being forced to sit in a chair why your cousin picked out your clothes and cleaned your feathers was just annoying.
Nixie barely heard Alynna say something about other fruit. "I-I'm sorry I normally don't let the fruit supply get this low... Il head into town after the circus closes up and get some fruit... Maybe I could even get some papaya's or pineapples." Nixie felt embarrassed as if she'd been caught not doing her job. And all for the sake of fruit. Nixie looked around her cooking duties were done for now everyone was eating or sitting at the table even Ash had come out of her hiding place. Nixie jumped toward the older half spider lady and wrapped her arms around her. "Good morning Ash! I think you needed a hug so tada!" Nixie now feeling accomplished flapped her little head wings that was until she noticed the clock... And realized she was late doing her other chores! Wide eye'd she quickly said her goodbyes said why she was leaving and ran out of the main tent trying to think about what she had to do first!
Callus blushed a bit, his cheeks turning slightly purple. He had a habit of getting lost at the worst times, it was almost comical. He wondered how Brink managed to carry him, but he decided to not ask. Questions were quite annoying. He laughed nervously.
He simply smiled when Brink told him to eat, trying to hold back a laugh as he watched the two cousins argue light-heartedly. He enjoyed speaking to most of the people at the circus, there being a few exceptions of course. He noticed Synthia coming in, but he didn't appear to. He had before been acused of having 'fake horns', but he didn't care. People could check for themselves if they truly wanted to be sure his horns were real, but he wasn't going to promise that he wouldn't punch them. He noticed Ash, but he didn't make any noticeable expressions. He looked down at the plate in front of him, wondering how it had gotten there. Had he put it there? Probably. He decided that he would try socializing with the others more, since he had rarely spoken to them. It wasn't that he was shy, he just rarely had any time to speak to others, and most people tended to stray from the horned demon-looking creature. He didn't blame those who called him a demon, and considering his past, this was as good a term as any to define him.
He wondered what had Nixie flustered, but he knew it was probably something little and important to her. He began eating carefully and methodically, appearing to for some reason, have impeccable manners. His purple scars were beginning to show through his face-paint, but he didn't notice. He had been fairly certain that he covered his scars completely. He ate with his unnervingly sharp teeth, his knecklace ratttling slightly as he ate. Most of his past was a mystery, including his knecklace, scars, and family.
He honestly didn't know what to do. He could prepare for his show, but that would be easy and take little time. He could try talking to one of the other performers or workers, but he doubted any of them were free.
Synthia managed to say fare-well to Nixie before she ran off, after giving a hug to Ash she pushed her plate away from herself a bit. She laid out 10 of her knives carefully. She carefully polished each one, she liked trying to hit small targets from a long distance away, it was a talent of hers. She would ask the audience if anyone had an object even a bit of food or a fork and she would hit any part of it that the person who offered it up allowed her to hit. If someone wanted her to hit between their fingers she wouldn't let them but every now and than she would allow them but she would get them to be very still. She did not want anyone them to get hurt or anything so she would make sure that they were absoloutly sure they wanted her to. Looking at Brink as he sat down, she wanted to see Risque's performance now, her food smelled good but she wanted to finish polishing her knives.
"So, how did everyone sleep?" in a voice that was just barely above a whisper, she wondered if they would ignore the question. Finishing up polishing her knives. Putting them back in the leather pouch and than tieing it up to her belt carefully so they would not fall out. She looked up at Callus and than at Brink, she thought that he was soft sometimes but he acted cold but his cold exterior made it hard to tell. She still wasn't yet used to life in the circus even though she had grown up with it, but she was glad that she found some-place to show her talents to other people.
She had a small soft smile on her face as she gave people when she tried to have a conversation, she wanted to get to know theses people better. So starting a conversation seemed best way to do just that.
Ash blinked at being hugged out of no where, not used to the feeling of it at all. She tensed up as bit, the chitlin that covered her legs making an aduble noise from them scraping together. She watched callus, mostly in fasinasion really. Most couldn't say that her body was the work of some extensive surgeries, so she kinda felt bad for callus in a way. Part of her always wanted to take a quick tug at them, but that would be rude in most cases and she wouldn't want someone putting on her legs to see if they were real.
She continued eating, mostly the eggs and meat but wrapped the fruit up in her silk for later. She looked around again at the others. Nixie had run off to the main tent and the others seemed to either be eating or milling around the place. She could see some of her spiders milling around the opening or following people, and started to wonder if any others were hanging around anyone else that she hadn't seen all day. Then again, her web covered caravan was the hub of news, most of it day to day things.
She tapped her front legs in thought, weaving her silk in to a a sort of very fine knit as she looked around a little. "Still need to figure out what I wanna do for the show...see if burtha and Lilith are up for it this time." She muttered to herself as the knit started to grow in shape.
She perked up a bit, hearing the question at hand. "I slept ok...a bit chilly but ok." she said, her knitting growing in size.
A soft moan escaped Stella's lips as her eyes adjusted to the dimly lit room. Waking up had always been a dread for the teenager, especially when she barely received any, like last night. She had had worse nights where she gotten none at all, and was barely able to stay awake while preforming. Gladly, she knew today wasn't one of those day. The thought of preforming caused Stella to jolt from her bed. Had the show already started? She was unaware of the time, and this made her skittish. Quickly throwing her normal attire on,-a tank top and a pair of leggings-she groped about for her hairbrush. The small, worn out brush glided through the upper half of her hair, but then refused to move through her knots. The bristles caught between the dead ends of white, tangled hair. Sighing, she took the ponytail on her wrist and wrapped it around her hair twice, creating a messy high ponytail. She'd deal with her hair right before the show.
By the time Stell had exited her sleeping area, she had been up for only a few minutes. The grogginess of sleeping had completely subsided, and her body was now alert. Her stomach seemed to be more alert than any part of her, considering its extremely loud and unnecessary grumbling. Placing her bony fingers on her abdomen, she made her way to the kitchen. Scents of breakfast wafted through the air, causing her mouth to water. Finally, when Stella had reached the caravan, she entered with a hop to her step. To the others, this was normal. From her third day here, Stella had always been so happy and upbeat, even though she felt like she was always dying. Over the years the dying feeling had diminished, and she was thankful.
As she neared the others already in there, she smiled. The company of others always made her happy. She would eventually greet them, but not before she got her food. Grabbing a plate, Stella piled on eggs and a few pieces of bacon, never forgetting about her daily pear. Then, when she had gotten all her needed items, she seated herself. Once she scanned the faces and saw who was in the room, her smile grew. "Hey guys," she greeted. It seemed as if others were having their own conversations, and Stella didn't mind not being talked to. As long as she said hello to everyone and wasn't alone, she was a-okay.
Brink Orpheus
Brink blinked realizing that the group was getting more attention then he liked. Taking a deep breath he allowed his voice to go in between it's soft down and it's normal un-caring voice... The result made him sound... Well like a person who wasn't about to do something rude. That was good Nixie's tips on sounding like a not scary person were working. He looked over at his cousin and smiled for a brief second as she gave him a thumb's up. Of course the smile and signal were fleeting... Brink wanted no one to know that he was trying to be more sociable, if they found out he would certainly get awkward and end up hiding in some corner.
Brink blinked and his cheeks reddened when Derrick called him: 'Princey.' Brink did not sit preferring to stand yes awkwardly but stand he would with his arms crossed protectively over himself. He may be trying to open up but he wasn't ready for any hugs... Unless well it depended. "Something more daring... I'm sure Julius could help with that." Brink nodded to the lion tamer. "No one has a way with animals like him..."
Brink adjusted his eye patch before looking back at Derrick. "M-Me? Help... I don't perform... Never have... Don't think id be much help... I'm more of just a spectator... And well last minute rescue guy." Brink kept his voice calm. He would like to help but to be honest the thought of acting as more then his current job made him nervous, probably because he'd not dared try and perform sense the last time when he ruined his eye sight in one eye forever. He wore the patch over the cut and light gray eye over it so he would not be reminded of the incident and he honestly preferred to keep it that way. He glanced at Nixie and the two shared a silent conversation. He could tell she was hinting he should at least try. Maybe he would... Maybe.
Nixie Blue
Nixie kept quiet while the others talked. She fixed up the kitchen as quietly as she could all the while performing tests on her injured head wing. She stretched it until she felt the pain get to much she flapped it to feel the muscles. She bent it forward and back as far as she could. Finally she gave up. Brink often looked over at her for acknowledgement and Nixie would wave or they would exchange a silent conversation as the two of them had become so skilled at doing.
Nixie looked around at the nearly empty table where earlier food had been so piled up. She smiled happy to know that her food had been eaten. She walked over to the table and began to pick up plates and trays piling them up high. She reached where Callus happened to be seated. She blinked and smiled at him. Callus was Brink's best friend... Really they were mainly because Brink could not make conversation with anyone else. This meant though that Nixie knew him fairly well. She shared in much of his experience. While many thought Callus's horns were fake they thought her own head wings were fake until she flapped them madly at her accuser and they freaked out and normally left. She smiled at Callus and took his plate. "Hi Callus, got an awesome performance planned???" Nixie's bright red eyes lit up until they were huge and happy. Nixie as much as she was a work-a-holic most days loved spectating everyone's show. Callus was an illusionist and this greatly intrigued Nixie who really wasn't that special except for her head wings.
Callus spaced out for a bit, a habit of his. He heard ask everyone about something and some people enter, but he paid little heed to it. He, quite frankly, His thoughts were wandering around the subject of his father, another freak, but he returned to not-being-spaced-out when he heard his plate move. His first instinct was to cause pain to the noise, but he remembered that he had no reason to. God, he hated his natural reflexes. He smiled back after he registered that Nixie smiled at him. He still didn't notice his scars beginning to show more on his face, but he did feel a bit colder than usual.
He always was fascinated by how Nixie's wings worked, and if she could actually fly, but he highly doubted she could. He wondered what she would have been like if she had wings on her back, but he guessed not much different. He couldn't show that his horns were real unless he decided to break them and let them bleed, then it would take about a week for them to regrow. He didn't want to bother with breaking them, since it was as painful as breaking a tooth. "Heh," He laughed lightly. Him planning? As if. "I don't plan things out, usually plans fail." He said this from experience. "I'll just do what feels right." This sounded cheesy, but that was what he was going for. "Hey, you want me to dull the pain?" He asked, referring to the wing injury she appeared to have. He could use quite a bit of methods to dull pain, so that wasn't a problem.
Synthia looked down slightly "well I don't really have anyone to talk to anyways so I practice so I am not doing nothing" she pouted jokingly, seeing Derricks grateful smile in her direction. Shrugging lightly she looked back at Julius when he chuckled and she smiled glad that she was able to distract the lion tamer from lots of stuff. She shifted on the chair and wondered if this one would break just like the one before did, her head still hurt from hitting it twice.
"Ahh, cool it must always be warm in there" she laughed lightly, which was really rare to hear from her she had never really laughed before it felt good to laugh. She was glad her distraction was working, she wondered if it was Brink talking to Derrick so fondly that made him uncomfortable, taking a quick glance up at Brink, wondering what his thoughts were.
Looking back at Julius she smiled lightly "nice, well I don't think they are that dangerous especially when you are there" she had seen it, they were like little kittens towards him.
looking up at Brink when he said that, it almost made her laugh again when he turned red Brink was right though no one know their way around a lion like Julius did. Everyone was like that though, they were considered to be the best in their fields like Alynna was excellent illusionist. Derrick was an excellent snake charmer, it was because everyone was good at what they do.
"You can do it Brink I know you can, good luck with it" she wanted to see their performance as well, looking at Brink as he stood up.
Standing up "sure" she looked up at Brink than down at Derrick "talk to you guys later" she turned around again and followed Julius. She was so excited about seeing the lions up close, she wondered if she had to be cautious at first when seeing them. She had a big smile on her face, it was turning out to be once of the best days of her life. She looked at Callus and Nixie on her way out and waved to them, also waving to the twins as well.
Brink Orpheus
When Alynna and Julius got up to go Brink nearly went full panic mode. He was too awkward to stand and have a one on one conversation with someone successfully. Nixie sure but he'd watched over her sense she was just a little chick... Or well child... Chilck? Realizing he was trying to distract himself he squirmed so he'd be forced to pay attention. "Yeah... I guess I'd be... But I do-" He was cut off by other people but did not bother to say anything about it. No he'd chose to just stay silent about it. Yeah that would work.
But of course it did not. Soon as Derrick was done his very fond farewell to Julius he jumped at Brink causing his cheeks to redden and him to freeze. Dang it! Why did Brink have to have a weak spot for anything smaller then him. Oh and the eyes as well? Brink blushed and stuttered but Derrick was already dragging him. Finally Brink moved a little. "Well... Alright..." He smiled ignoring the voice freaking out in his head telling him how did not want to loose his other eye like he did the first... Well lost wasn't the right word. Under Brink's eye patch was actually still an eye it just did not see anything. Yes he was blind as a bat in that eye with a deep jagged scar surrounding it. The eye itself unlike Brink's still very much working one was a pale light gray. Nixie often said it looked cool but Brink tried to forget it existed the memories it carried no longer haunted him as they did but his eye and how it scared people and made him look scary... He hated it.
Brink willed his legs to move and he let Derrick drag him. He took one last look at Nixie but he shared in no quick and silent conversation with her as she was too busy talking to Callus and making herself busy. He needed to remember to let her make friends... Maybe just one or too... Of course Brink was twitching at the fact he was making friends with Callus. Callus was indeed a friend of his but his little Nixie was well so small and fragile. Brink wished he could yell at Callus to be gentle with Nixie but decided not to embarrass her. But he might do that later...
Nixie Blue
Nixie laughed. "Yeah... Plans usually don't go well for me either... But I hope to catch your show anyway!" Nixie's ruby eyes opened why like an eager child. When he mentioned her wing she opened them both wide wincing as pain coursed through her sprained one. "O-Ow... No it's not that bad just a little sprain... Besides... I trust few people with touching them..." This was namely because when her wings were stroked like a cat she would suddenly relax and well namely it was embarrassing to be reduced to a happy cooing blob. Nixie smiled shyly and quickly folded her wings out of reach trying to hide the plee hidden in her eyes to not touch them. She wanted no one to know what would happen if they did. I mean she quite literally cooed like a bird that was embarrassing on several levels.
Wanting to change the subject Nixie poked Callus's horns about to ask if they could feel pain when she noticed Callus's face paint slowly drying and revealing three scars. They were still hard to see but Nixie's sharp eyes spotted them. "Callus..." Nixie leaned closer to the boy's face and her eyes went round and wide. "Why do you have scars on your face?" Her voice returned to it's normal innocent and clueless tone as she stared at Callus worry growing in her eyes. "Did someone hurt you?" She flinched at the thought. She herself had a few scar's from her parent's abuse but she told this to no one and hid them under baggy boy clothes trying to hide her shame and pain. So if someone had hurt Callus even recently she wanted to know. Her wings flared wide and her eye's darkened without her knowing. "Because if someone hurt you... Then that will not end well for them..." Nixie's tone became dark and she did not even realize that if it wasn't Callus sitting there they would be experiencing there nightmares horribly attacking there mind sleeping or not.
Callus smiled when Nixie laughed, relieved that she was still able to. He wondered what he would do for a show, but he decided to simply let the show plan itself. He frowned a bit when she tried convincing him that she wasn't hurt, since she obviously was. He wondered why she didn't want him to numb her pain, since he wouldn't have to touch her, but he decided to not ask. It was better to not ask questions, always better. He moved his hands up in mock defeat, signaling that he had no intention of touching them, yet.
He instinctively got a bit back when she reached to touch his horns, worried that she might reduce him to something embarrassing. He wondered why her eyes went wide, then he remembered his scars. He looked shocked. He did cover his scars, didn't he? He regained his composure and tried to keep calm, failing horribly at it. "Questions.." There was a dull tone in his voice, his body deciding whether to run or attack. He appeared confused, his brows furrowing. His gaze was cold and piercing, showing that he wasn't very much liking her inquiring. "No," This was partly true, since he had been the one to cause his scars. He had done it in a fit of rage as a child, when he was attacked by someone. He had beaten his attacker and grabbed the weapon, then proceeded to scratch his face and laugh at the same time. He had less sanity back then, and his father's influence didn't help. "Do you want to know what happened?" He asked this with a cold and serious tone. He would have never suggested this if he was speaking to someone other than Nixie, but he decided that he would eventually have to tell. If she didn't, he would return to normality and never speak of the situation again. If she did, he would gather his thoughts and tell what happened to him and most importantly, what he did.
Brink Orpheus
Brink's eyes widened when Derrick touched the scar. He thought for a moment. How did he answer that sorta question in a way that was both honest and not completely depressing. Brink finally decided to just let whatever he was going to say be said. "Well... I don't remember it well..." He smiled a little. "What I do remember is trying to be daring I got my friend to help me we were... Going to do something with flaming knives... I forgot to be careful guess I got cocky... Well something went wrong... When I woke up I somehow was well alive my friend was missing and when they pulled the bandage off my eye a week later..." Brink pulled off the eye patch. "Well I was surprised to find I could not see a thing... I started wearing the eye patch cause the eye freaks most people out... Nixie doesn't mind it oddly enough..." Brink arched an eye brow. "It doesn't scare you does it?" Brink backed up a little and covered his eye with his hand not wanting to frighten Derrick. "Well... Uhh now you know so... We should probably get on with the snake charming." He looked away his cheeks pink. Brink never really told anyone about his eye... Mainly because aside Nixie no one had ever asked, or when he showed them they got freaked out.
Nixie Blue
Nixie blinked before standing back up. "I don't want you to tell me unless you want too... But seriously if anyone's messing with you let me know! Il bash them over the head with a frying pan!" She looked over Callus's scars again. "And by the way... I can only see them cause your face paint is peeling... If you want I can put a new coat on... You clearly don't want anyone to know." Nixie's eyes softened and she smiled gently. She had her own scars she could understand why he'd wanna keep them hidden sometimes the stories that followed them should not be re-told. Brink was an exception he would tell anyone who asked about his eye they just did not ask... Probably because of him being the ring master. While waiting for his answer she grabbed a few more of the empty plates and piled them up high.
He returned to normality after she responded, deciding to hold off his history. He internally smiled, relieved that he wouldn't have to tell anyone. "No one's messing with me." He said this with a smile on his face, ignoring what had previously happened. "That would be best, but I don't want to force you." The purple in his scars now visible. He would have asked if she needed help, but he knew that he would probably end up breaking something. IT would be best to not make the circus pay for any repairs. He laid his head on the table face-down and listened closely, his hair flowing freely. There was nothing to do, and no one to entertain.
His mind wandered from thought to thought, its consistency less than water. He awaited Nixie's response while his mind wandered dangerously.
