Freak and Worker

4'5

~~~
Baking, Cooking, Mild weather, Night-time strolls, Making friends, Comfy clothes.
Dislikes:
Scary things, Getting embarrassed, Being called cute, Being mocked, Being teased, Burnt food.
Habits:
Nixie's head wings are a fairly good indication of her mood... Just don't touch them that embarrasses her and if she does get embarrassed then her head wings flap a little making her flustered.
Crush:
None of your business! She's straight.
Personality:
Nixie is a complete innocent puff ball. From a young age Brink has been protecting and shielding her from the outside world this has caused Nixie to stay fairly innocent. Despite her innocence though Nixie isn't stupid no she's a hardworking smart girl who understands that being what she is she will always be at a disadvantage in life. Nixie is fairly shy around new people but does well with those she knows. She's friendly and optimistic with a determined look about her. But beware cute and small as she is Nixie does have a temper but it can only get triggered if you hit the right notes on her emotions for example if you were to talk about her parents and mentioned her being a freak Nixie would go from small and cute to your worst nightmare... Brink doesn't understand how she does it but he thinks his little cousin may or may not have the ability to see into peoples nightmares and mess around without realizing it... Basically you will be fine if you don't get her mad.
~~~

Skills:
Nixie is just a worker really. She cooks, cleans and helps her cousin manage the place. She also tends to attract birds She doesn't have anything out standing about her or that's what she thinks. Believe it or not the small little thing actually has the ability to be quite frightening. Nixie without much realizing it has the ability to bring out of the depths of peoples minds there nightmares and in a sense terrify them without really realizing like-wise she has the same ability with dreams... Though she's completely clueless to this.

Family:
Mom - Alive
Dad - Alive
Cousin (Brink) - Alive

History:
Nixie's parents were both normals. This meant they expected a nice normal baby... Instead they had Nixie a girl born with wings on her head. Her parents were not happy with there kid and often looked at Brink a young normal boy and wondered why they were not born with him. Nixie could tell her parents did not love them and being a kid she blamed herself. After awhile her parents did not even bother to look at her the same. They thought she was a freakish creature and were ashamed to keep her around. This broke her parents marriage. Her mother started drinking and her dad started to see other woman. They both told her there lives would be better if she would just leave... And well she did. At the age of 10 she packed her bags cut off her hair so it was short and she did not look like her mom and left. Brink was the one who convinced his parents to take Nixie in. He nurtured her and took care of her and spends his time fussing about her in return she's worked madly to help out at the circus and is determined to continue.

Brink Orpheus

Brink woke up and exited his caravan. They had recently set themselves up next to a large town and as they usually did they would stay several nights until they felt it was time to move on. Originally Brink's parent's only stayed for two days but Brink found the Circus was more successful if they stayed 3 or 4 days giving everyone the time to rest and perform at least once... As well as there to be enough time for the very few rides they offered to be set up.

Running a hand through his messy blonde hair Brink blinked and looked around. Soon night would be hear and the performers would wake up and get ready this meant they would need food. Poking his head back into the caravan to wake up Nixie, Brink noticed his cousin was not in the small nest like bed she normally set up in her corner of the caravan. If she was not here then that meant she was already making breakfast. Well it would be dinner for most people but because the people at the circus worked on a backward schedule they normally ate breakfast or soup for dinner then stayed awake ate again at morning slept then during the day they might eat again but this was rare.

~ . ~

Nixie Blue

Nixie yawned sleepily as she forked off the bacon into a large plate. She was one of the few people at the circus who did most of the work work, luckily she'd been spared from running a food stall. She fed the animals, cooked the meals, helped set up shows tents and was one of the people who barely slept. Yet the wing headed girl was so use to her strange schedule that she barely noticed her lack of sleep. Nixie looked over the plates piled with food set up along the large table. She hoped there would be enough for everyone. She'd prepared french toast several omelets pile upon pile of bacon waffles toast and various other eggs cooked in different ways.

Yawning heavily Nixie turned back to the kitchen. She'd make a few more omelets she knew how much everyone enjoyed them... yes just a few more then she would help set up the acts anything to help... Anything to help. Nixie's head wings perked up a little. She had to get her mind of the ideas of her family and being adopted by Brink thinking of that either made her very sad or very optimistic today the memory of her parents hate was making her sad but she refused to be down on a day like today! There would be some many great performances and if she did all her chores maybe she could catch one of two maybe all of them! Nixie despite not being a performer herself loved just watching yes that was good enough for her.

Lenka hadn't slept a wink, and she didn't care in the slightest. Running a comb through her hair, she squinted at herself through the spiderlike cracks in the mirror, trying to make out her own reflection in the maze of hairline fractures running across its surface. Her eyes were set on a cleave between her eyes where nose met regal browbone. While she knew her own face well enough to know she hadn't sprouted horns overnight, it was certainly a disturbing sight when paired with the slight circles forming under her eyes. She dabbed on a spot of lotion and powdered her face from a tiny jar, which she hid in her trunk alongside the cracked hand mirror when she was finished. It was an empty thing; she'd hardly been here more than a handful of months, and not once has she gotten a day to herself to sew a new dress.

The one she sported now was formed of a pale blue gingham with a hint of thick summer lace at the bottom. She'd originally planned to sell it, but the seamstress had thrown her out before she'd had the chance to. Now, it was all she had. She smirked. Oh, pity on her— all she had in the world was a finely sewn summer dress. Her feet made quick work of slipping into her stockings, and her nimble fingers laced up the boots in good time, too. Her feet slipped in easily to the two, the former being stretched loose and the latter nearly worn to shreds. She hardly even had to think in winding the odd little pattern she made in tying them tight around her ankles. Slender and small-footed, she was sure her shoes would pass for a child's if given half a glance.

Lenka's feet were quick over the dirt, though she shivered slightly for the cold. Granted, the fine plaid gingham wasn't much protection against the morning chill when she didn't have a coat to wear over it. When she had enough money, she'd buy one, someday. She's buy a fine coat and a new pair of shoes and silk ribbons for her hair. She'd be out of the circus, someday. But with the thoughts, Lenka chastised herself; she shouldn't have been dreaming of her future so early into this new endeavour. She sped up, her once-soundless footsteps now making soft pattering sounds on the grass. Her eyes sought out breakfast, as did her stomach. It had been a nasty night, working on the star of her latest show, which she'd slung over her shoulder with pride.

Now wasn't the time for that, though. Lenka grinned a bit and sat herself down, politely waiting for the others to arrive. She caught just the slightest glance of the wing-haired girl and called out a quiet greeting— it would be rude not to, wouldn't it?

Derrick had always hated the circus. It was strange then, that he would be working in a circus. Right? Well he couldn't really work anywhere else, not with fangs and an eyepatch that was always present. Most at the circus just assumed the fangs were fake, which was totally normal at a circus. But getting a normal job with fake fangs? Not so easy. As for the eyepatch, well, he supposed he could have taken it off if he wanted. Though even people at the circus would have given him a hard time about what was his right eye, because it certainly wasn't the same ocean-blue as his left eye. His dressing style was a bit strange too, considering it consisted mostly of Victorian London style topcoats and trousers, hats and buckled shoes. Of course he didn't dress like any old Victorian bloke, his coats and hats were the richest of colors, no ordinary brown or black for him.

The fifteen year old boy heard something moving around outside, and he slowly stood to get ready for the night. He didn't really sleep much, meaning he had been up almost all the day and would likely be up all night too. The noise outside was already assumed to be Nixie, who seemed to be like him, always one of the first awake. Though her reasons were probably to start breakfast and chores, while his were so he could effectively insult and outsmart everyone from the moment they woke to the moment they went back to sleep. Yes, not many people here enjoyed Derrick's company. Other than the snakes, his snakes certainly loved him. Most animals did, should he really think about it. But he didn't even have to try with snakes, they found him most of the time.

Making his way over to the kitchen, he spied his target. "Nixie dear!" he called out, British accent coming clearly. "Do you need any help, love?" Behind him, he heard Lenka call out a greeting to Nixie, and placed a hand on his chest in mock hurt. "No Good morning's for your friend Derrick?" he asked, batting his eyelashes at the girl. "Shame."

Brink Orpheus

Brink was wandering about when he spotted Callus his friend. "Up early Callus?" Brink strode toward the man and blinked. His friend was unlike himself what they called a freak personally though Brink thought he was cool and fascinating and interesting but mostly he just saw Callus as a good friend he could actually talk to instead of like with everyone where he had to answer there questions approve things and well was seen as a boss not friend. Well there was always Nixie but him and his cousin had a very odd relationship he would worry about her and protect her and she despite her blatant innocence would somehow end up in some situation where she would nearly kill herself. Brink rubbed his temples at the thought of Nixie she was more helpful then disastrous but either way it was stressful...

~ . ~

Nixie Blue:

Nixie was busy focusing on making food when she was greeted by Lenka, and jumped a little in shock luckily she'd not hurt herself. Nixie turned and waved at the girl before turning back right as she was about to grab the pan another voice jumped in causing Nixie to jump she was never the most alert. This time however her small jump caused her to move her small hand and burn it on the pan. Immediately Nixie bit down on her tongue so as not to yelp in pain. Instead she walked over calmly to the sink and ran cold water on the burn she always carried band-aid's as this was a regular occurrence.

Nixie looked over at Derrick and smiled her head wing's fluttering in both a form of annoyance and embarrassment at him calling her dear and love."Hi and no thank you really I'm fine I have everything ready I was just making a few more things... I always worry that everyone doesn't get enough." Nixie turned back and looked at her red burnt finger she would leave it under the water only a little longer. "Oh if there's anything specific you two want I'd gladly make it! After all I still have some time." Nixie's bright red eye's shimmered and her white little wings twitched and moved on there own accord reflecting her mood which at the moment was a strange mixture of pain, happiness and over all naive-ness to the obvious awkward tension in the room. Of course she could not feel it. Nixie believed everyone liked each other at the circus and each person was so unique the strange girl could not help but admire them all in some way.

Derrick frowned, "Tsk, too late dear." He could sense the annoyance in the girl, and he didn't appreciate it. Not that many people at the circus really liked him, but he didn't mind that. They didn't have to like him, they just had to accept that he was smarter, quicker, and overall better than them. It was then that he looked back to Nixie and saw her running her hand under the water, and he faintly recalled hearing a singeing noise. "Oh my, was that my fault?" the small boys eyes grew wide, and he moved quickly to her side. Just because he was an arrogant ass, it didn't mean he didn't have feelings at all. There were a few people at the circus that he actually liked, genuinely, even if he usually didn't act like it. "I'm so sorry dear, you must forgive my ignorance. I forgot how skittish you were."

As soon as her hand came out of the water, he gently took it with his own gloved hand- white today, since white was only the most elegant of colors; other than blue and red, and purple. His lips pressed gently against the top of her hand before he released it, bowing ever so slightly to the lady in front of him. "I'll have to make it up to you, is there anything I can assist you with?" he didn't really like being in debt to people, nor did he have to want to make this up to her later. But he still had to do something for her, or else it would simply eat him away. People didn't like let things go, they didn't just do things out of the kindness of their hearts. And if they ever said something like it, you can count on them being a liar.

She scrunched up her nose as she stood up. He knew she hated that nickname, but then again, she'd called him Leo. She never meant from his stagename, he just looked like a lion. Glad that he would help her, she'd turn on her heel, and walk to go get breakfast. She was hungry, and as she had learned before, never eat on an empty stomach, or people might think you're dead. She didn't mean to forget to eat... she was just busy with her stunt... it had slipped her mind. Gosh.. how Brink had lectured her about the importance of food after the show. Ever since then she would eat at least something. Walking in the kitchen she noticed how people had seemed to gather.

Her nose wiggled a bit as she noticed Derrick, near Nixie. I bet they end up dating.... She thought to herself as she grabbed a glass of juice. She'd give everyone a wave, without Julius here, she was the eldest. Though she looked messy, with her cockeyed messy bun and her pj's on. She still even had leftover makeup from last night on her face. She felt like a blue raccoon. "Has anyone seen Brink?" She'd ask biting her lip, now she had to make sure it was ok for Julius to be in her act tonight.... "It's about my performance...." Her eyes scanned everyone once more, as she smelled bacon. She'd refuse to eat it of course, she was a vegetarian. "Also... do we have any fruit left?" She'd add on, before stretching, putting together her outfit for that evening.

Lenka's eyes lit up with a muted joy when she heard Nixie's voice, and she gave a small, real smile this time. She stood up and steeped into the kitchen, her eyes flickering like a flame over her new surroundings. She'd never set foot inside the kitchen before, having only caught wayward glances of it passing by each morning to gather breakfast. She felt as though she hasn't cooked in ages. The wing-haired girl hadn't exactly given her explicit permission to come in, but in her eagerness, all social conventions escaped her. Her air of delicacy receded a bit. Her mouth formed the words with a friendly softness, but her mind was elsewhere. In such a state, she almost seemed friendlier. "Do you have any milk left? Ah, and some flour and some sugar... if you don't mind. Have you ever heard of Hare's Feet?" It was a name she hadn't spoken in years, and she was eager to form the tiny pan-biscuits— the taste was already coming to life on the tip of her tongue. If anything reminded her of her sister, it was the smell of cooking oil, and the room abounded with the memory-laden scent.

Within moments, Lenka's eyes had dropped to the ground. She supposed there would soon be a sob to hold back if she continued to ponder the subject, so she forced it to the back if her mind. Glancing between Nixie and Derrick, she shuffled toward the cupboards to seek out her ingredients. A clean mixing bowl, first, and then the flower. She was hesitant in her movements, small hands swift but tentative in plucking the items from their homes. She wouldn't dare pour a drop of milk without permission, knowing how expensive it could be. Her brief flurry of movement slowed to a standstill, her hands folded in front of her like an obedient maid. Her hair had fallen in her eyes, but she didn't bother moving a hand to move it, frozen until she had worthwhile stimuli to direct her in her actions. She couldn't bring herself to speak, again, desiring no more attention than she'd already garnered simply with her presence.

More movement drew Lenka's gaze from the floor to find Derrick at Nixie's side laying a kiss on her hand. How odd. She'd read about such traditions before but never seen it for herself. Derrick was certainly a character cut out well for the circus, it seemed, his every move like a showman's flourish. She was torn between feelings of amusement and intrigue. Why did he act in such a way? Everything had motivation, Derrick included. Why did he bow to the girl— surely not of higher status than himself? She was new and certainly not lacking in questions.

It was then that a slight suspicion arose in her, burning and urgent. She didn't like at all the way this Derrick carried himself, so bold yet so well-versed in these obscure social conventions. She couldn't quite place what it was she felt so nervous about, but there was a world taking shape in the back of her mind— arrogance?

Ah, well. She could watch, and she could wait, the both of them an innate nature to her. It was interesting enough.

Brink Orpheus

Brink laughed gently. "I'm only stressed because of Nixie... She's been wild as ever lately." Brink looked over at his friend and chuckled lightly as he messed around with his hair. "I think we should get food into you so you actually have energy to deal with the large amounts of people who will be drawn to your ever amazing show my friend." Brink ran a hand through his hair once again. He may have offered the food as a suggestion but really he was prepared to not give his friend a choice in the matter.

~ . ~

Nixie Blue

Nixie was starting to feel over-whelmed as people stepped in and out of the kitchen doing there own thing and eating. To be honest the wind headed girl was not sure how to deal with it all and was about to tend to everyone when Derrick called back her attention by pulling her hand out from under the water. She winced when he kissed it but that was soon forgotten when he apologized. "Oh no need Derrick It's my fault for not being aware of everything this morning." When he insisted on making it up to her, she flapped her head wings wildly and flailed. "No n-no! It's my job to take care of everyone I don't wanna burden you..." She paused. Derrick was fairly new and with all the errands she'd had to run lately she had not had time to actually see Derrick's performance. Huffing so as not to see like she was giving in to the boy she looked away. "But I guess if you insist... Then I hope to maybe catch your performance but aside that I forbid you going out of your way!" Nixie's head wing's opened widely to show that would be where she draws the line.

Nixie looked around at everyone else in the kitchen. "Brink is still busy I think or asleep... Oh I forgot about fruit! Oh Lenka Alynna everyone I'm sorry!" Nixie ran over to the fridge and opened it pulling out various fruits. "Ah... We only have some apples and peaches..." Nixie sighed and crossed her arms. "I hope you guys don't mind apples and peaches she smiled awkwardly making a mental note to talk to Brink later about going into town... They probably needed some meat as well for the lions and other animals. Maybe she would stay awake after the night and go into town she would end up dead tired but she could always catch up on sleep later.

Synthia woke up sleepy eyes under a tree, she had fallen asleep watching the sun-rise again, she stood up sore and pulled her knives out of the tree. She had been practicing for her show, she usually did that after catching a glimpse of the other performances she always loved that. She stretched out and carefully put her knives in a little pouch she had. She could smell Nixie's omelets, she loved thoughs so she followed the scent all the way to the kitchen. hesitantly sticking her head in and saw Brinks, standing next to Callus and Nixie was in the kitchen with Lenka looking through the cupboards. She bite her lip and walked in quietly and sat down and grabbed on of the plates, she stared down at the food she looked at Callus. His horns always fascinated her, she always thought they were real even though she heard people say they weren't she never really asked him about them though. She looked at Nixie and than at Brink she wondered why they were acting like this so early in the morning, she would listen and wonder about it until they said something. Barely whispering "good morning" she wondered where everyone else is, Julius might be sleeping in the Lions den again, Derrick was probably annoying someone as usual.

She grabbed a fork and set it next to her plate, than smelled the food it smelled really good it made her stomach growl even. She didn't eat the night before and she saw Brink give other people a hard time about eating afterwards, she wondered if he noticed that she didn't eat anything. Probably not, she usually kept to herself because no one would really talk to her.

pulling out a knife and used a cloth she had in her pocket and started polishing it, when it shone and shined some light in her eye she blinked and put it back in her pocket. She loved polishing her knives even though she ran out of shiner and was scared to ask Brink to get her some more, his cold demeanor sometimes sent a shiver down her spine.

Ash wasn't one for staying around people for long. Usually enough to get what she needed or listen in on what was going on and leave before anything way a miss. However, the smell of the food made her stomach protest her wandering. She looked behind her, watching her smaller kin stop behind her. She smiled to herself, turning around to lower herself and greet them. "Go see what the others are doing. I'll be back in a little bit." She said as they seemed to raise their front legs at her and scatter to different parts of the carnival as they usually did.

She wandered into the tent, scittering in carefully as she tried to not get in the way of anyone for the moment. She tilted her head to the side, seeing Brink trying to force Callus to eat. Not that this was uncommon to her, but started to pace a bit. "M-Morning Brink. M-morning Nixie." She studdered, fidgeting her front legs a bit out of nervousness. It was well known that Ash wasn't the most socially adept out of everyone in the troop, but at least she tried in some cases rather than just staying in the back.

The food smelled like heaven, thought chairs where not. She simply lowered herself at the table and began to eat, watching the others as she tapped at the ground with her legs. Synthia was polishing her knife again, Callus...she wasn't all to sure and Nixie looking defeated from what she assumed was an earlier argument with Blink. She shrugged at bit, looking to eat as quickly as her she could without choking again.

Alynna grabbed an apple. "Apples are my favourite anyway Nix." She'd say before taking a bite out of it, letting the juice drip on her chin. Derrick leaving didn't bother her, they weren’t best friends, but they weren’t exactly friends anyway. Though she did enjoy seeing his performance, the way he charmed the snakes. Sometimes she wished she could do something with charming animals or taming big cats, but her role was important... she was supposed to keep the crowd believing in magic, in miracles...also make them believe in taking Risks. Maybe that's how she got her stage name? She'd shrug off the thoughts seeing Brink.

Putting down the apple, she'd half eaten, she wiped the juice off her face with her sleeve. Not very lady like, but she really didn't care. "Ah... yes.. Brink, I was looking for you... its about my performance... I have a little more for my finale." She'd give a very sweet smile, her green eyes glowing with pride, and a bunch of ideas. "I'm going to need Julius's help, and he's already agreed to helping me... I just need your permission and some birds." She'd chuckle, knowing that would get his attention.

After speaking her little speech, she picked the apple back up and polished it off. Looking at the fruit once more she'd shake her head, and grab a peach. "We need oranges, and bananas. That's where I get my vitamin C and Potassium." She was a nerd when it came to vitamins. It's how she made sure she got enough nutrients so Brink didn't force her to eat Eggs or Meat.

Maya sighed, laying down the soft, silver brush she was using to brush Mia's hair and turned to face her conjoined twin.
"Where do you reckon everyone is?" She asked in her soft, gentle voice which was, the complete opposite to her twin's.
Mia shrugged her single shoulder and gestured to say she was standing up, "Let's go find them, 'eh?"
Maya obliged, standing at the same time as her sister and deciding against arguing with her - although she really didn't want to leave the room, her shyness was embarrassing and yet Mia seemed to not acknowledge that.

Mia led the way, out of their very own colourful caravan and down the steps, after walking around for a little Mia spotted Risque, Brink and Nixie.
Pulling them over to the other acts, Mia smiles and then turns to Brink and begins talking - After Risque had finished.
"Our song for tonight is cleared, right?" She asks, her smile bright, as if her and her sister were only singers - Not siamese 'freaks'.
Her eyes sparkle as she thinks about the fire and craziness that was involved in her and her sister's performances; a lot of people think their show could potentially be boring, if only they know, the Darling Duo always go out with a bang.

Maya shifted her balance, looking at the ground. She was never the outgoing one, that was for Mia, Maya was the quiet, shy one that stays in the background (or as far as she can go into the background will being a conjoined twin) and yet when she got on stage - All her fears just melt away and she is just...Normal, a normal human singer, not some freak people pay to see because she's attached to someone else.
Snapping out of her thoughts, Maya looks up at the small group and smiles a little at them all, happy that at least Nixie was there - She seemed the nicest to be honest and yet, Maya still couldn't bring up the courage to even hold a conversation with her.

Brink Orpheus

Brink ran a hand through his hair and listened as people began to ask questions... "Alynna..." Brink's tone was it's cold serious-self when he stared at the girl. "I'm fine with you performing I know your capable... But... Just be careful." Brink touched his eye patch. "Even someone who thinks they know what there doing can end up hurt... I am all to aware of this." Brink let his hand drop from his eye patch and sighed. "You have my permission just take every safety precaution." More people were drifting in to eat... Well at least they were eating or sitting near food.

Brink finally directed his gaze to the twins Maya and Mia. They were kind girls and unlike most he wasn't bothered by the fact they were conjoined. He tried a smile but it came out awkward and strange as always... Brink was one of those people who only smiled rarely and forcing himself only made it weird. Finally he gave up and just nodded. "What would our Circus be without singers... Your tent for tonight was set up last night you should go there and make sure everything is as you need it."

Finally having taken care of the numerous questions tossed his way Brink looked over to everyone else and glared. "Nixie prepared this food now I expect it to be eaten and enjoyed! I have enough issue's to attend without the health of my friends being on my mind." Brink gruffly crossed his arm before finally taking his own seat with a huff.

Nixie Blue

Nixie watched Brink run a hand through his hair. Despite the fact her cousin looked annoyed or stressed Nixie knew from experience that wasn't the case. Brink just wasn't any good at socializing each time he did he sounded like an army general or a murderer. Of course alone in there caravan that wasn't the case mainly because her older cousin would try and treat her like a princess much to her dismay. I mean when she was younger it was pleasant but now a days being forced to sit in a chair why your cousin picked out your clothes and cleaned your feathers was just annoying.

Nixie barely heard Alynna say something about other fruit. "I-I'm sorry I normally don't let the fruit supply get this low... Il head into town after the circus closes up and get some fruit... Maybe I could even get some papaya's or pineapples." Nixie felt embarrassed as if she'd been caught not doing her job. And all for the sake of fruit. Nixie looked around her cooking duties were done for now everyone was eating or sitting at the table even Ash had come out of her hiding place. Nixie jumped toward the older half spider lady and wrapped her arms around her. "Good morning Ash! I think you needed a hug so tada!" Nixie now feeling accomplished flapped her little head wings that was until she noticed the clock... And realized she was late doing her other chores! Wide eye'd she quickly said her goodbyes said why she was leaving and ran out of the main tent trying to think about what she had to do first!

Callus blushed a bit, his cheeks turning slightly purple. He had a habit of getting lost at the worst times, it was almost comical. He wondered how Brink managed to carry him, but he decided to not ask. Questions were quite annoying. He laughed nervously.

He simply smiled when Brink told him to eat, trying to hold back a laugh as he watched the two cousins argue light-heartedly. He enjoyed speaking to most of the people at the circus, there being a few exceptions of course. He noticed Synthia coming in, but he didn't appear to. He had before been acused of having 'fake horns', but he didn't care. People could check for themselves if they truly wanted to be sure his horns were real, but he wasn't going to promise that he wouldn't punch them. He noticed Ash, but he didn't make any noticeable expressions. He looked down at the plate in front of him, wondering how it had gotten there. Had he put it there? Probably. He decided that he would try socializing with the others more, since he had rarely spoken to them. It wasn't that he was shy, he just rarely had any time to speak to others, and most people tended to stray from the horned demon-looking creature. He didn't blame those who called him a demon, and considering his past, this was as good a term as any to define him.

He wondered what had Nixie flustered, but he knew it was probably something little and important to her. He began eating carefully and methodically, appearing to for some reason, have impeccable manners. His purple scars were beginning to show through his face-paint, but he didn't notice. He had been fairly certain that he covered his scars completely. He ate with his unnervingly sharp teeth, his knecklace ratttling slightly as he ate. Most of his past was a mystery, including his knecklace, scars, and family.

He honestly didn't know what to do. He could prepare for his show, but that would be easy and take little time. He could try talking to one of the other performers or workers, but he doubted any of them were free.

Synthia managed to say fare-well to Nixie before she ran off, after giving a hug to Ash she pushed her plate away from herself a bit. She laid out 10 of her knives carefully. She carefully polished each one, she liked trying to hit small targets from a long distance away, it was a talent of hers. She would ask the audience if anyone had an object even a bit of food or a fork and she would hit any part of it that the person who offered it up allowed her to hit. If someone wanted her to hit between their fingers she wouldn't let them but every now and than she would allow them but she would get them to be very still. She did not want anyone them to get hurt or anything so she would make sure that they were absoloutly sure they wanted her to. Looking at Brink as he sat down, she wanted to see Risque's performance now, her food smelled good but she wanted to finish polishing her knives.

"So, how did everyone sleep?" in a voice that was just barely above a whisper, she wondered if they would ignore the question. Finishing up polishing her knives. Putting them back in the leather pouch and than tieing it up to her belt carefully so they would not fall out. She looked up at Callus and than at Brink, she thought that he was soft sometimes but he acted cold but his cold exterior made it hard to tell. She still wasn't yet used to life in the circus even though she had grown up with it, but she was glad that she found some-place to show her talents to other people.

She had a small soft smile on her face as she gave people when she tried to have a conversation, she wanted to get to know theses people better. So starting a conversation seemed best way to do just that.

Brink Orpheus

Brink was eating when suddenly Alice plopped next to him and stretched. He blinked. "Umm... Alice?" He raised his eye brow un-sure what to do with her. Suddenly can go eat another purring fuzzy creature showed up this time claiming his shoulder. Brink smiled gently for once and pet the small fur ball on his shoulder. What could he say... Brink had always had a soft spot for anything small and cute... It was a horrible weakness.

Brink blinked when Alynna ran into him and dropped her cloak. "Here." He picked up the cloak and gave it to her silently. "Yes your outfit suit's you quite well for your show." Brink's voice did not hold much emotion then again it never did. Or not around people he wasn't yet accustom to. Picking up the feline off of his shoulder Brink nuzzled and pet it holding it in his arms tightly hiding his gleeful smile.

Nixie Blue

Nixie had run out of the tent and was now heading toward the bird caravan. The birds did indeed have there own caravan as they had birds of all kind. Many of which were attracted to her, hence why she was one of the few people who actually cleaned there cages and let them out for there flight. Nixie jogged over to the caravan and pulled off the caravan's movable wall revealing all the cages there doors were open so the bird's could fly out. Nixie pulled open the first cage door most of the birds flew out but a few of them jumped onto her shoulder and head and cooed before calming down.

"Mmm, I like this plan. I'm excited to be a part of it," Julius grinned, allowing his arm to be wrapped around Derrick's shoulders with no complaint, not making any attempt to remove it. No, he let his arm stay where it was, even pulling Derrick a bit closer to himself as they began to walk together towards the food caravan. The aroma was border-line heavenly, even at this distance, and his stomach grumbled appreciatively. The scent was acting like a siren call, drawing him ever closer to the promised meal- well, if there was anything left. There had been times when he'd shown up too late, either due to being distracted or simply oversleeping, and all that had been left were the dregs of breakfast- a bit of burnt toast and eggs that had just begun the process of congealing. And, while Julius could accept missing a meal every once in a while, that wasn't exactly something he would allow from Derrick.

Even now, with the younger boy pressed companionably against his side, Julius could feel just how skinny he was, a fact often masked by his elaborate outfits and big attitude. He worried about it, as much as he did about Derrick in general(which was depressingly often). The snake tamer always felt so frail in his arms and that wasn't just because he had a good nine inches and a bit more muscle than him. So, yes, it was a bit of a mission for him just to make sure that he ate something. It wasn't as if he force fed the younger boy, but if an extra piece of fruit showed up on his plate or the odd dessert making an appearance at their early morning dinners, well...

The food caravan was, unsurprisingly, packed right now, people milling about and having breakfast or simply talking, excitement sparking in the air as people began to prepare for tonight's show. While Cirque du Soir's resident chef didn't appear to be anywhere nearby, the fruits of her labor certainly were. There were still plenty of food, but, between the other hungry performers and acts, there was no telling how long that would last.

"Evening, everyone," He greeted with a lazy wave, only then removing his arm from around Derrick in order to grab a plate and a few pieces from the plate of rapidly disappearing bacon and two waffles still a crispy, golden-brown color. They were admittedly a little cold at this point, but beggars can't be choosers, and no one could really claim that Julius was a prima donna without being met by skeptical stares.

When Derrick had felt Julius pull him closer, he could bite back the breathy laugh that somehow made its' way past his lips. The naivety of his friend would never cease to amuse him, but it also left him wondering. Just how naive was he truly? Now, Derrick could see some definite advantages if somehow simply pretended to be innocent, completely uncaring for anothers body or appearance. Girls certainly would be less careful around you- not that Derrick was actually interested in girls -and if you happened to say something that wasn't entirely appropriate, it was much more easily brushed aside and just labeled an accident. Though there had to be disadvantages too, like the fact that you really couldn't do much, or you would lose that naivety for, well, ever. Either way, he was fairly positive no one saw him that way, so it didn't really matter. The only people he really ever spoke to was the man at his side, Nixie[ when she allowed ], and Synthia[ again, when she allowed ].

Derrick was immensely pleased when Julius waited until they were inside the caravan and seen by almost everyone before removing his arm. It made him feel special, he guessed, sort of in a he's mine, back off sort of way. Honestly, he wasn't quite sure what he would do if someone else began getting the attention Julius usually saved for him. Obviously he would be jealous but... how much would that affect his friendship with the older boy? Knowing himself, he would probably just tell Julius they couldn't be friends anymore. It wasn't like he hadn't done it before, though never had he been completely serious. But he couldn't be friends with someone he was crushing on if they were dating someone else, not going to happen, ever. It'd just be too hard, it was always difficult enough to be so close with Julius and pretend they were only friends.

Obediently- like a puppy -, he followed Julius over to the food table. He grabbed a plate and put a few pieces of fruit on it, but otherwise left the plate empty. It was doubtful he would even eat the fruit, but he wanted to think that Julius would at least be somewhat pleased that he was considering eating. Again he adjusted the shirt, feeling extremely awkward since he wasn't wearing his normal clothing, but at the same time comfortable. Probably just because it was an item of his friends, anything relating to him made Derrick happy. After he sat down, he carefully picked at the fruit, never actually putting any in his mouth but still moving it around. With the hope that Julius had sat near him, he spoke quietly. "So what time should I be at your show tonight?" It was one of the first times he actually directly asked about one of his friends performances, since he was pretty sure he had never noticed Derrick in the crowd.

As soon as he noticed Alynna walk off and Moshe move away, Derrick raised his hand in a slight wave to Brink. The man had always interested Derrick, they were so much alike. Both acting as if they didn't care, it was interesting to watch, really.

Brink Orpheus

Brink froze when Alynna got close to him. Brink did NOT like people accept a few close to him. He stayed still until she left and he awkwardly shivered. Nixie had probably done this... He was not sure how but some-way that feather headed sweet heart had planned this. He hugged Moshe close until he lept from his arms and promptly turned into well... Moshe. Brink stared and felt his cheeks heat up. Yup Nixie had probably done this. Awkwardly Brink's face turned bright red and he lowered his gaze out of sight hiding it well under his hair before he slipped out of his tent and tracked down his cousin.

~ . ~

Nixie Blue

Nixie was done with the birds and was now carrying a crate way to big for her weak upper body. She was struggling wondering that in the name of Egypt was in the darn thing when she felt Brink barge into her sending her flying to the ground the box flying into the air before it crashed on one of her head wings. Immediately Nixie froze so as not to move the wing and hurt it further of course this was difficult with a demonic box of evil-ness crushing her head! (Or part of it). As soon as Brink lifted his eyes and actually saw Nixie he dropped his cold act and went full on panic mod. Freaking out he picked up and tossed the box aside like it was a feather before scooping up his cousin and rushing her to there caravan.

Nixie had no idea how long she sat there while Brink checked and re-checked her wings only to come to the same conclusion 4 times. It was sprained. Curling the injured wing closer to her head Nixie hugged herself upset. It took a little while after that for Brink to interview his cousin about everything from the accursed box to Moshe and Alynna. When Nixie finally finished explaining the pair decided to go back to the main tent where everyone would still be eating.

Brink Orpheus

After rounding up his cousin Brink awkwardly agreed to return to the tent. But he pulled out his hair this time allowing his odd not long not short gold hair to fall over his shoulder he also pulled out a few piercings, and dare I say it wore a very loose sweater that exposed his shoulder, he had decided today was to stressful for him to look like the punk that crawled out from under a rock. Nixie walked back with Brink to the main tent while she continued to fold out only to wince and re-fold her injured head wing. Much to Brink's guilt.

When they arrived Brink spotted Derrick by Julius. He realized only then he'd not asked the young boy what he would be performing that night and if he needed anything. Awkwardly Brink walked over to Derrick and poked the younger boy's shoulder. "Hey Derrick." Brink looked and gave a rare genuine smile. The boy was so small he could not help but be kind and calm around him. "I feel ashamed to admit it but with all the stress today I nearly forgot to ask about your ask... I feel ashamed I adore you performance so... I must ask... Is there anything you need?" Brink could feel eyes on him scanning the rare sight of his loose hair relaxed clothes and his gentle voice. And Brink resented the attention... He almost pleaded for people to draw there eye's over to Nixie who was asking who wanted a re-heated breakfast and fussing over how everyone needed to eat more...

((OOC: SORRY FOR THE LONG POST... I had to send Brink on a rescue mission to drag Nixie from whatever writing rut id plopped her in xD the box was the only darn thing that came to mind... Probably because I large crate fell on me today crushing my nose a little xD WOOT INSPIRATION ))

Leo? Again? This was the third time she'd used his hated stage name today. Either Alynna really wanted to try to coax irritation out of him today or she was feeling particularly mischievous. Either way, it didn't bode well for him. At least she'd gotten dressed, he noted as she sashayed out of the ten, the outfit probably what she'd use for the show tonight. Oh, right, the show. From what he'd heard in the chatter around him, tonight was a night for new and surprising things- additions in acts, extra stunts, people popping in to help each other. He was helping Alynna with her illusion, Moshe was going to join the lions for the act... Yes, tonight would be one to remember.

Predictably enough, despite the numerous open seats inside the tent(not nearly enough for all of the performers if they all came together, but certainly enough for the groups that tended to find their way inside), he plopped down next to Derrick, taking a bite of the bacon he'd liberated from the rapidly disappearing plate. It was cooked to a perfect crisp, just shy of being too cooked. A little cool since it had been sitting out for a while, but otherwise perfect. Nixie's cooking was an absolute blessing for all of the circus folk.

"I slept wonderfully, Synthia. And yourself?" He hummed, tucking into his breakfast- or was it dinner? Breakfast for dinner...? Regardless, it was food and he was starving, his stomach finally quieting down, appeased now that he finally had given in and had a meal. He really had slept well, but that was no surprise. It was just.... easier to sleep in the Lion Den, like being surrounded by good friends, the familiarity of them easily lulling him into a feeling of security that his lonely caravan couldn't claim.

It seemed like he was the only one at the table actually having breakfast, Derrick pushing fruit pieces around his place in a not so successful attempt to make it look like he was actually eating. Unluckily for the younger boy, Julius saw through it in a moment, having perfected that particular technique when he'd still been living at home. Still, the lion tamer didn't make any comment- he wouldn't be the one to poke and prod until Derrick ate. That wasn't quite his style, no matter how much he wished Derrick would just eat.

The question did manage to catch him off guard. It was not because he'd assumed that Derrick had no interest in his show- no, in the middle of acts as he entertained the crowd, he'd sometimes catch glimpses of the snake tamer, made all the more distinct by his distinctive clothing choices. After all, Victorian-esque outfits weren't quite able to blend into the crowd. No, what was surprising was that he was actually asking this time. Surprising, but far from unwelcome.

"Well," He said, chewing thoughtfully before swallowing a bite of waffle. A little soggy, but good all the same. "The town's pretty big, so maybe ten minutes before? I'll be sure to save you a seat just in case." The lion taming show always managed to draw in a good crowd(although, Julius was entirely convinced that if they knew just how tame his lions were for him, but crowd would be substantially less enthralled) but with Derrick actually asking, well, he'd make sure that he had the perfect seat. And maybe, just maybe, he could surprise Derrick by catching his show as well if he wasn't needed elsewhere. It had been a while since he'd last seen the snake tamer's show, much longer than he liked to admit, so maybe tonight would be the night to see how much he'd improved.

He opened his mouth to speak again, but quickly snapped it shut as Brink appeared looking less the stressed out ring master of a traveling circus and more like a normal young man acting in a very, well, un-Brink like manner as he smiled at Derrick, voice gentle and filled with flattery and a desire to help. Derrick and Brink seemed to have a mutual soft spot for one another and- Julius glanced down at his plate, suddenly not very hungry at all. It was like his guts were being tied into knots, an uncomfortable, dreadful feeling washing over him. He wasn't sure why, but scenes like the one playing out next to him, particularly(only) when the players were Derrick and someone else, sent a mild wave of nausea over him. Now, he could always just get up and leave but... He set his fork down quietly and instead did his best attempt at turning his attention away from them, looking at Nixie who had apparently hurt herself and various other people enjoying their first meal of the day. Anywhere but next to him and it bothered him that he didn't know why.

Synthia was caught of guard when Julius asked her about her sleep during the night before "well, it was sort of good I fell asleep outside again as I was practicing. So did you sleep with your warm friends again?" she moved and sat next to Julius and looked at Brink when he was in front of Derrick. She was a little jealous of the attention he got from everyone, but she was used to it so it bugged her less she could tell Julius was upset about something. Wondering if it was Brink being like this towards Derrick, thinking quickly "oh Alynna said she would be in my performance, to be my assistant. I just hope I don't miss were I am aiming" hoping that would work to get his attention away from Brinks un-like Brink attention towards Derrick.

She wondered if she should ask now if she could pet his lions sometime soon "uh Julius, do you think I could pet one of the lions with your supervision?". She was fidgeting a little bit, nervous about asking him and what his answer would be after all she was only 16 and not all that strong. looking at him she wondered what the felt like, if their fur was soft or coarse, she had seen his performance before but only once. It was fascinating watching him and the lions together but usually she was to busy doing other things instead, practicing a lot so she could do more dangerous things. Or hit smaller targets down to small bugs from a long ways away.

Just remembering that she wanted to ask Brink when she was preforming and who she was preforming after and if Alynna was before or after her but first she wanted to distract Julius who seemed to be nauseated by something. Usually he ate his breakfast and all of it but she looked at his plate and she still saw food on it. Looking back up at Julius, realizing that this is usually the most she ever spoke before and after preformances perhaps she was getting more social. The thought made her smile lightly, it meant that she was changing out of her cold shell into someone who spoke to people more.

Looking over at Nixie she saw one of her wings looked injured she wondered what happened to her, did someone hit her upside the head with something?. Or did something fall on her.

"It's Julius's actually, but I'll be sure to pass along the compliment." The words were said far before he had actually sat down with his plate, before Julius came to join him, and before Brink came to ask him about his act. Derrick was acting rather... kind, actually. At least, kind for someone like him. Most people appreciated when Julius was around with Derrick, simply because the young boy obviously tried to act on his best behavior when his man was near. Though, he was also considerably less arrogant-asshole-y when Brink was around, but definitely not near Julius standard. It was widely known that Derrick adored and crushed on Julius, as well as the kindness that he showed towards Brink was assumed as a small crush too. Both may have been correct, as far as he knew. But then again, he hardly even noticed the shift in his mood. Honestly oblivious to how different he acted around the two of them.

Derrick noticed his friend stop eating and seem to look... well, sick. It wasn't really an attractive look on him either. Derrick nudged him lightly with his shoulder, offering the older boy what he hoped was a reassuring smile- no one could ever replace Julius's place in Derrick's heart. Though he was also very thankful to Synthia, who seemed to also notice the change in Julius, and his smile changed to a grateful one when he glanced to her. Underneath the table Derrick made an attempt to grab Julius's hand, fully intent on drawing the shapes and words on the back of the mans hand like he would often do when he was permitted. It was a fun game for him, to see if Julius could guess what he was writing or drawing. Not to mention it gave him a chance to hold the other boys hand- sort of -, which pleased him very much. "I promise I'll be there tonight," he whispered, even though he knew he would be there every night he could.

Just about then was when he turned his attention back to Brink, motioning for the attractive man to sit beside or across from him, next to Synthia. "Hey Princey," it was his own nickname for the ring master, since he tended to carry himself like he was a prince. No matter how many times he was told to stop, the name stuck, and Derrick simply refused to call him anything else. "Hm," the young boy made the soft thinking sound while chewing on his bottom lip, trying to figure out just what he planned on doing that night. "I was thinking something new... something daring." Whenever he actually got a chance to speak out his act or about his snakes, the excitement was usually plain on his face. He would admit that his act was not the most popular in the circus, a crowd less than fifty usually showed, but he still enjoyed it. "Perhaps you would like to be in it?" He asked, curious as to what Princey would reply with.

Though he was very conscious of their small group growing, he oddly seemed not to mind it. Synthia was almost always nice to him, and he was pretty sure that she knew of his undying love for Julius, so he had the hope that she wouldn't betray him. Brink was just adorable in his regal, in-charge way, always seeming to be on top of things- Derrick was definitely going to have to get him to loosen up one of these days. They dressed somewhat alike, sort of, which was also interesting. Nixie wasn't really talking with them, but she was still near- and looking injured, he would have to ask her about that. Either way, he very much liked Brink's cousin? too, so she was no bother. And Julius... everyone knew what he thought about Julius. If everything went his way, Derrick would never leave his side.

Brink Orpheus

Brink blinked realizing that the group was getting more attention then he liked. Taking a deep breath he allowed his voice to go in between it's soft down and it's normal un-caring voice... The result made him sound... Well like a person who wasn't about to do something rude. That was good Nixie's tips on sounding like a not scary person were working. He looked over at his cousin and smiled for a brief second as she gave him a thumb's up. Of course the smile and signal were fleeting... Brink wanted no one to know that he was trying to be more sociable, if they found out he would certainly get awkward and end up hiding in some corner.

Brink blinked and his cheeks reddened when Derrick called him: 'Princey.' Brink did not sit preferring to stand yes awkwardly but stand he would with his arms crossed protectively over himself. He may be trying to open up but he wasn't ready for any hugs... Unless well it depended. "Something more daring... I'm sure Julius could help with that." Brink nodded to the lion tamer. "No one has a way with animals like him..."

Brink adjusted his eye patch before looking back at Derrick. "M-Me? Help... I don't perform... Never have... Don't think id be much help... I'm more of just a spectator... And well last minute rescue guy." Brink kept his voice calm. He would like to help but to be honest the thought of acting as more then his current job made him nervous, probably because he'd not dared try and perform sense the last time when he ruined his eye sight in one eye forever. He wore the patch over the cut and light gray eye over it so he would not be reminded of the incident and he honestly preferred to keep it that way. He glanced at Nixie and the two shared a silent conversation. He could tell she was hinting he should at least try. Maybe he would... Maybe.

~ . ~

Nixie Blue

Nixie kept quiet while the others talked. She fixed up the kitchen as quietly as she could all the while performing tests on her injured head wing. She stretched it until she felt the pain get to much she flapped it to feel the muscles. She bent it forward and back as far as she could. Finally she gave up. Brink often looked over at her for acknowledgement and Nixie would wave or they would exchange a silent conversation as the two of them had become so skilled at doing.

Nixie looked around at the nearly empty table where earlier food had been so piled up. She smiled happy to know that her food had been eaten. She walked over to the table and began to pick up plates and trays piling them up high. She reached where Callus happened to be seated. She blinked and smiled at him. Callus was Brink's best friend... Really they were mainly because Brink could not make conversation with anyone else. This meant though that Nixie knew him fairly well. She shared in much of his experience. While many thought Callus's horns were fake they thought her own head wings were fake until she flapped them madly at her accuser and they freaked out and normally left. She smiled at Callus and took his plate. "Hi Callus, got an awesome performance planned???" Nixie's bright red eyes lit up until they were huge and happy. Nixie as much as she was a work-a-holic most days loved spectating everyone's show. Callus was an illusionist and this greatly intrigued Nixie who really wasn't that special except for her head wings.

Callus spaced out for a bit, a habit of his. He heard ask everyone about something and some people enter, but he paid little heed to it. He, quite frankly, His thoughts were wandering around the subject of his father, another freak, but he returned to not-being-spaced-out when he heard his plate move. His first instinct was to cause pain to the noise, but he remembered that he had no reason to. God, he hated his natural reflexes. He smiled back after he registered that Nixie smiled at him. He still didn't notice his scars beginning to show more on his face, but he did feel a bit colder than usual.

He always was fascinated by how Nixie's wings worked, and if she could actually fly, but he highly doubted she could. He wondered what she would have been like if she had wings on her back, but he guessed not much different. He couldn't show that his horns were real unless he decided to break them and let them bleed, then it would take about a week for them to regrow. He didn't want to bother with breaking them, since it was as painful as breaking a tooth. "Heh," He laughed lightly. Him planning? As if. "I don't plan things out, usually plans fail." He said this from experience. "I'll just do what feels right." This sounded cheesy, but that was what he was going for. "Hey, you want me to dull the pain?" He asked, referring to the wing injury she appeared to have. He could use quite a bit of methods to dull pain, so that wasn't a problem.

Brink Orpheus

When Alynna and Julius got up to go Brink nearly went full panic mode. He was too awkward to stand and have a one on one conversation with someone successfully. Nixie sure but he'd watched over her sense she was just a little chick... Or well child... Chilck? Realizing he was trying to distract himself he squirmed so he'd be forced to pay attention. "Yeah... I guess I'd be... But I do-" He was cut off by other people but did not bother to say anything about it. No he'd chose to just stay silent about it. Yeah that would work.

But of course it did not. Soon as Derrick was done his very fond farewell to Julius he jumped at Brink causing his cheeks to redden and him to freeze. Dang it! Why did Brink have to have a weak spot for anything smaller then him. Oh and the eyes as well? Brink blushed and stuttered but Derrick was already dragging him. Finally Brink moved a little. "Well... Alright..." He smiled ignoring the voice freaking out in his head telling him how did not want to loose his other eye like he did the first... Well lost wasn't the right word. Under Brink's eye patch was actually still an eye it just did not see anything. Yes he was blind as a bat in that eye with a deep jagged scar surrounding it. The eye itself unlike Brink's still very much working one was a pale light gray. Nixie often said it looked cool but Brink tried to forget it existed the memories it carried no longer haunted him as they did but his eye and how it scared people and made him look scary... He hated it.

Brink willed his legs to move and he let Derrick drag him. He took one last look at Nixie but he shared in no quick and silent conversation with her as she was too busy talking to Callus and making herself busy. He needed to remember to let her make friends... Maybe just one or too... Of course Brink was twitching at the fact he was making friends with Callus. Callus was indeed a friend of his but his little Nixie was well so small and fragile. Brink wished he could yell at Callus to be gentle with Nixie but decided not to embarrass her. But he might do that later...

Nixie Blue

Nixie laughed. "Yeah... Plans usually don't go well for me either... But I hope to catch your show anyway!" Nixie's ruby eyes opened why like an eager child. When he mentioned her wing she opened them both wide wincing as pain coursed through her sprained one. "O-Ow... No it's not that bad just a little sprain... Besides... I trust few people with touching them..." This was namely because when her wings were stroked like a cat she would suddenly relax and well namely it was embarrassing to be reduced to a happy cooing blob. Nixie smiled shyly and quickly folded her wings out of reach trying to hide the plee hidden in her eyes to not touch them. She wanted no one to know what would happen if they did. I mean she quite literally cooed like a bird that was embarrassing on several levels.

Wanting to change the subject Nixie poked Callus's horns about to ask if they could feel pain when she noticed Callus's face paint slowly drying and revealing three scars. They were still hard to see but Nixie's sharp eyes spotted them. "Callus..." Nixie leaned closer to the boy's face and her eyes went round and wide. "Why do you have scars on your face?" Her voice returned to it's normal innocent and clueless tone as she stared at Callus worry growing in her eyes. "Did someone hurt you?" She flinched at the thought. She herself had a few scar's from her parent's abuse but she told this to no one and hid them under baggy boy clothes trying to hide her shame and pain. So if someone had hurt Callus even recently she wanted to know. Her wings flared wide and her eye's darkened without her knowing. "Because if someone hurt you... Then that will not end well for them..." Nixie's tone became dark and she did not even realize that if it wasn't Callus sitting there they would be experiencing there nightmares horribly attacking there mind sleeping or not.
