Personality: Sharaun is a deeply devoted person with an intense belief in his chosen deity. He views the will of the heavens as divine law and is determined to serve them the best he can. He is by nature a born leader which saw him enroll in clerical studies to begin with. Sharaun wanted nothing more out of life then to join the Church as a leading member. He is kind hearted although in a more lofty way then the earthly way most are use to. The boy views life as the great test and is determined not to fail it. Those around Sharaun praise his knowledge and quickness of mind although the boy himself is far more critical of himself, especially after realizing he could feel the winds of magic.
The only real negative part of his personality is the views of magic he harbors. Sharaun hates magic and distrusts those who practice it, for power corrupts absolutely, and mages have power enough. For history is littered with the horrors wrought by those consumed by their power, far too littered for his tastes. Some days he wishes he had been drown at birth then be cursed with magic. Furthermore the harder he resists the power flowing through him the more insistent it becomes. This has seen him of late fall into a more silent depression.

Sharaun was born the 9th son of Baezen,a merchant prince who had made his fortune in the gem trade. His mother Sornvrae died giving birth to him and so he was the last born son of Baezen. With so many heirs even the wealthy merchant prince was hard pressed to find enough money to go around but at least Sharaun made things easier. For even as a young lad of 4 the future mage viewed the wealth they lived in compared to a great many of the others in their city appalling. So much so he would often insist that his father help them, which Baezen remembering his own poor upbringing did. And it was the heart of gold that saw him enter the training of a cleric from a young age. For Baezen and Sharaun knew the training was long and hard.
So at the age of 6 Sharaun was entered into a seminary as a lay brother. His days composed of long hours cleaning and helping the cooks with study and prayer during the evening. And as he grew into a strong young boy days in the fields planting crops and learning of the martial skills practiced by the warriors serving the Church. It was here he earned the nickname Paladin, a role he aspired to with great earnest.
But one fateful day a month before his 15th birthday Sharaun felt something strange, a sense of awareness that defied every attempt to rationalize. He went to the Archbishop about and learned the gift of magic had awoken in him. And his world came crashing down, for the path of a Paladin was forever out of his reach. And so too was the freedom he had grown accustomed to. For he was enrolled in the Collage of Magic as required by law. And since that fateful day has grown to hate the power within him, for he did nothing to earn it and magic was a curse.
