Physical Description:Image
There is much to be envied about Julien with his looks and overall appearance, for such had enticed many girls and hence caused him to be quite a rival for many guys. However for the girls, he was not one to envy, but one to seek after. He was tall and slim, with a muscular healthy body due to the amount of exercise he had taken and going to the gym. Julien takes great pride in his appearance, so he makes sure he looks after his body and nor is he ashamed of showing it off. He is clearly one of the popular boys as a result, hence the reason why alot of girls sought after him, as it wasn't only his body which caused girls' eyes to glow when they saw him at sports and seeing him sweat, but also his face with his high cheekbones upon the soft facial features of face, when he is anything but soft, except to girls of course.

❝Behind The Façade❞

Likes:Image

  • Money

Dislikes:
  • Working
  • Rejection
  • Being alone
  • Losing
  • Being told what to do

Personality:Image
Julien is a very independent man, an independent thinker, which is quite ironic when he is dependent on his parents, his parents' company and their future which all had helped make Julien in quite the spoilt child like any child would in his position. Where the lower kids took the school bus into school, Julien was dropped off by his chauffeur, and when he wished to eat, his cook would prepare him something. He didn't even need to make his bed since he had a maid, but as far as lifting his finger to put his clothes on, he did do that personally, just so his servants don't get any ideas.

Despite his situation, he held strong to principles, that low was low and high was high, that girls should be with boys and boys with girls, simple as that. Others would disagree but being from a wealthy and powerful family that had held onto tradition, tradition rubbed onto him, except the old courting methods were out the window and he preferred to try any cakes that took his fancy so to speak. He is a great guy to know however, he is of course a big flirt and charismatic and supportive in the way that if you gained his loyalty then he would defend you, though his downside was the whole 'class' thing. Course if the girl was pretty enough, he might let them slide just for a one-nighter or something, just to give them a taste of what to aim for.

He sees nothing wrong with the way he works, for he hates responsibilty and actually having to do things to get what he wants. Infact the only thing he really has to do is give orders or charm, both of which come easy. He does love to play games and joke about, but when it is time to get serious and if people get in his way, then he won't take it kindly. Once again, dependent on his family since any wrongs he does, it is upto the family to contact their contacts to clean sweep it, so Julien really has taken this whole lifestyle for granted.

❝My Past and My Present❞

Thoughts on Arranged Marriage:Image
Julien feels very strongly that it should be up to him who he wants to marry. He feels that it is unfair that his parents force him into a marriage with a girl that most likely hates his guts and where the feelings are pretty much mutual. This whole arrangement spoils his plans and no doubt Dalila's also no doubt, but that's what happens with single-parent families, but couldn't they of 'joined forces' some other way rather than making their children live a life of misery. So frustrating!

Background:Image
The Beaumont Family is a wed family in the region, affiliated with quite a few central figureheads and also a few contacts that makes sure that going against the Beaumont Family was a dangerous thing. What had gained them enemies however, was the fact that the Beaumont Family had managed to claim to power much quicker than already established families, and that didn't even including the hijacking of jobs as the Beaumont Family grew with his growth of associates and clients. However, the problem was that the Beaumont Family's future re single heir, Julien, who enjoyed the wealth he had too much and did not appear to be leadership material. To Julien, that was exactly what it meant as hard work was, well, hard work. Why work when you can sit back, relax, and enjoy what life had to offer, especia came to pretty gals. Who was he to argue?

Unfortunately, his parents had other plans and instead decided to re-open negotiations with the Emmessy Family, who was in the same predicament as themselves, only they had it worse as they only had a daughter. Julien's family managed to fix the problems and entered an agreement, later informing Julien of what had transpired and how the Emmessy Family was no longer a rival to their family as they decided to co-exist, which was both a joy and a shame by the fact they lost a rival that they could of bragged against. However, the news turned even worse when he was told that he'd be marrying their daughter, who as a result of the rivalry, as well as not getting on in college, was not exactly the wife he envisioned. It also meant that when it came to leadership, he as the male would now need to deal with two family businesses which was way too much. They were having a joke surely, and as such, Julien confronted them, but in the end, the choice was to accept the marriage and do his part, or find himself with no more income coming in unless he worked, leaving Julien with no other choice. Boy oh boy.....

There were four words that Julien had lived by, 'Less work, more play', for he simply was not the working type, and being part of a rich and wealthy family, as well as being the heir to such an estate, there was no need to actually do any work at all. With such wealth, he could focus on the joys of life and 'living for the moment' sort of stuff while charming girls along the way. By the time it came to him inheriting the estate, he'd be more mature by then, and sort of have a prodigal son effect where he comes home, welcomed with open arms and then doing what his parents wanted him to do, which again he would slander by having those assisting him do more work than they should till he got to grips with it himself. Afterall, there was the administration and business side of it, but there was also the dangerous area that was even more important.

He saw his laid-back ways as his quest to developing his persuasive and social skills, while seeking to read body language to aid him later on. It was quite the excuse to go out, but unfortunately the coin had dropped and now his parents had got him into something that he wanted no part of. How on earth did they expect him to marry Dalila Emmessy? In any relationship, it was important that love was present for any relationship to work, and another factor was trust. None of them were present between him and Dalila, as the only thing they shared was the rivalry that had been sewn into their psychy and as a result, their hatred to one another, and in no way do people love their enemies, especially trust them, trust them to stab them in the back more than likely if that counts for a successful relationship.

Therefore Julien decided it was important to come face-to-face with Dalila herself as he went to his father. "When will I be meeting Dalila father? and don't I get a say as to where we meet as clearly the male role should take a lead, would you not agree?", deciding to exercise what rights he did have left since he could not fight against it without losing all he did have a right to. However, Julien's father was cunning indeed, "Couldn't agree with you move son. However, I have already chosen your meeting place which I'm sure you'd agree with.....Central Park, since you don't want her...what is the word...'cramping your style'...that right?". As much as he hated to admit it, he was read like a book which was aggravating, "Sounds good to me. I'll have Jasper take me down", before leaving his father.

As soon as he arrived at the car, Jasper entered the door for him to enter, which he did so, before he too entered the car, but unexpectedly opened the window at the front so he could see Julien behind him. "Young Master, I understand your aggravations, but would your father place you in such a predicament without a reason....think about it....which reminds me, you better take this just incase. You are not the only one opposed to this agreement", before he closed the tinted window, started the engine and drove the car away from the Beaumont Mansion.

As they drove to Central Park, Julien opened the black leather case he was given, to reveal a silver revolver which hinted at the fact that he had to be armed. He wasn't quite sure how the two families came to such an agreement and why his parents were adamant that the arranged marriage succeeded, irrespective of the fact that the two did not get along, but maybe there was more to this from what Jasper told him and why he was being armed. Sure he had to be armed all the time by being a member of the Beaumont family, but the whole affair concerned him even more so than this marriage.

"We have arrived Young Master", Jasper called, as he climbed out his seat and opened the door which Julien moments later came out of. "Thank you Jasper. I have thought alot about what you said. Is such the case?", wishing for clarifications, but Jasper responded with a smile, "All in good time. Your father will enlighten you should you wish it, but it would mean that you start working for your father, which so far you have shown no interest in if you don't mind me saying. Now I must leave you, but if you need me, then give me a ring, but Dalila would be the closest to you mind", before he entered the car and drove away.

With nowhere else to go and having this meeting with Dalila, Julien walked more into Central Park till he reached the fountain and sat on one of the benches to wait for Dalila to arrive.....

Dahlia was a rich kid. She wasn't shy about and most everyone who knew her father knew she was right behind him. On the food chain she was listed right under her mother, which was high up considering she was still pretty young. She has never had to lift a finger to get any of things she owns. They were handed to her on a silver platter and she accepted gratefully. Dahlia was never gluttonous person. She never complained or even begged for more. She would expect it, but when she didn't receive she never throws a tantrum. She just finds some other way to get to it. Dahlia was on top of the world and she was supposed to stay that way until her parents dropped the bomb on her.

Marriage? A union between two people that loved and trusted each other. A bond that last forever. If there is one thing that she couldn't understand was why her parents would torture her in such way. And of all people to torture her with they chose Julien Beaumont. They hated each other and every time she sees him she wants to jump off the nearest bridge or even shoot him. Dahlia is disgusted by his very existence and she was happy to be his enemy. She never had to see him unless her father was in a meeting with his. He was always there. When she heard the news she locked herself away in her bedroom and hasn't left since. She was too upset to even look at her parents.

Dahlia laid on her bed staring at the dark purple ceiling. She was in her favorite blue shorts and a white tank top. Her hair was in a messy ponytail and she was barefoot. She wasn't planning on going out to see anyone important so she looked indecent. Just as she believed that she was safe from looking at anyone there was a knock on the door. "If you are my father, go away," she called out, but whoever it was walked it. "I said go away," she said sitting up. But it wasn't her father.

"Last I checked, I was not your father," Ray said. She rolled her eyes and laid back down on her bed. She still wasn't going to talk to Ray. Ray was her personal body guard, driver, chauffeur, and brother figure. She absolutely adored him despite the fact he was much other than her. Well only by four years. Ray sat down next to her on the bed and stayed silent for a while. Dahlia hated that. If he was going to be in her room he better explain why. "Why are you here Ray." Dahlia sat up. Ray turned his attention to her. "I am taking you to see your beloved," Dahlia rolled her eyes and got off the bed. "Does that mean you are going?" he asked, but Dahlia glared at him. Ray stood and walked toward the door. "Meet you in the car." Once he left she started to change.

Dahlia replaced the shorts with black skinny jeans and she changed the white tank top for a bright pink shirt that stopped right above her belly button. She took the bun out and ran her fingers through her hair so that it was down in a cute messy way. She applied a bit of mascara and eyeliner. She slipped her bare feet into a pair of Toms. She applied her all time favorite lip gloss and grabbed her cell phone. She walked out of the room and out of the front door. Ray was already in the Mercedes waiting for her to get in the car. "Why did you get all dressed up?" Dahlia got in the car and stared out the window. "I never let anyone see me when I feel like trash."

The car ride was boring and she didn't think they would ever get there, but eventually they rolled up to Central Park. Dahlia scoffed. 'He wanted to meet at the park' she got out of the car and walked into the front entrance. She clutched her cellphone as she walked the middle of the park. She pushed loose strands of her out of her face until she saw him sitting on the fountain ledge. She walked towards him. Letting out a sigh she stopped a good distance away. "Hi," she said.

As he sat upon the ledge of the water fountain to wait for Dahlia, he recalled what Jasper had said before he left, "Dahlia would be the closest to you mind". Was he having a laugh? so if there was a need to use the revolver he had been given and he needed back up, was he supposed to put his life in the hands of a girl who hated his guts and probably could careless if he was shot since such would end the arranged marriage to him...fat chance. However, he also could not forget what Jasper had said before they pulled away, "You are not the only one opposed to this agreement". His initial thoughts were immediately Dahlia, since they wasn't exactly best of friends, mortal enemies more like, so clearly she'd be against it, but clearly the need to be armed meant others also by having the Beaumont and the Emmessy together.

It was their parents' doing, this whole arranged marriage business, so neither he nor Dahlia had a say. It was why Julien wished to meet his chosen fiancee and see how she felt, seeing as they were both in the same boat. The Emmessy have long been rivals of the Beaumont and now suddenly they were friends which was pretty odd, but it was like Jasper said, there had to be a reason, but even so, though allegiances can change, changing a heart was not to easy when its been ingrained for the past 18 years of being taught that they were bad news. It was why they didn't get along well in school because of their upbringing, hence why it was best for them to meet by themselves before the two families met each other, altogether, as if one big happy family. Pah.

Nevertheless, he decided to look his best nonetheless, even if the meeting was at the park, but he felt it was the best place to be out in the fresh air and away from distraction. He wore a pair of black denim jeans and a plain black buttoned-up shirt, where the top few buttons remained undone. Even if it was meeting a former enemy, he still dressed for the occassion and still made sure that he looked good, having already done his hair and washed his face before he left the Beaumont Mansion, so all that remained was the inevitable meeting between the two. It did not take too long as he spotted her out the corner of his eye and it seemed that she too had dressed for the occasion, not letting the whole once-rivals thing stop her from dressing appropriately just as he had, which showed that she too had decided to carry out her parents' wishes just as he had, but it was another thing if she did wish to do this.

"Hi", he then heard her say. Short and sweet, said all that was needed to be said, or rather all that was felt was needed to be said. One corner of his mouth tugged, as was pleased that she had come, as both of them could of waited and allowed their parents to bring them both together but Julien didn't fancy waiting till then and have his fathers' eyes pushing him along, for at least this way he had some freedom. "Come...take a seat....I don't bite, honestly", motioning her to sit with him. They may of been enemies and probably still contain such feelings, but they were at least respectable and Julien was able to be polite, before asking, "so....how you feeling?", deciding to start simple for starters to see how she was.

Dahlia gave a quick look around before she sat down. She didn't feel safe when Ray wasn't around. Knowing him he would be lurking near, but she couldn't see him. That is what freaked her out a bit. He was always in plain sight for things like this and the one time when she wanted him here the most, he wasn't. Letting out a sigh, she threw her right leg over her left one and rested her hands on her knees. She might as well act like she wants to be here. Although she didn't. Dahlia wanted to be in her room listening to her music and avoid her parents. It was a simple task that didn't require much effort. All she had to do was lock the door and have Ray guard her bedroom window.

"so....how you feeling?" she chuckled softly so herself. Seriously? She was being thrown into a loveless marriage with the last person she would ever want to be with. Her dad has threatened to take away all her benefits. And Ray has left her all alone with her enemy. How is she supposed to feel. If the feeling of hatred and disgust is a good thing then she feels amazing. She turned her head so that she was looking at him and she pushed her a strand of red hair out of her face. "Like a pawn on a chess board," she answered honestly without sounding to harsh. She had thought of a lot vulgar language to say to her father when she calmed down enough to speak to him.

Dahlia sat up and ran her hand through the water fountain water shifting herself so that her chest was facing Julien and her head was looking down at the sparkling water. People walked around the fountain throwing coins inside for wishes. But what was the point of wishes if they never came true. She sighed. "How do you feel?" she asked without looking at him. She was too busy making ripples in the water with her finger. It was distracting her from the unwanted meeting and keeping her from walking away.

From Dahlia's approach, Julien knew that she felt the same way, so how on earth did their parents expect everything to run smoothly between them. They wasn't even asking them to be best buddies to watch each others' back, but asking them or rather ordering them, to spend the rest of their lives with each other. How on earth did they work that one out? His father was alot wiser than this, yet this act annoyed Julien to no end, well aware of the consequences that he'd lose everything if he did not do what was asked of him. It was not right at all and certainly not fair as his parents both got together by finding one another and falling in love, yet they did not even get the chance to.

Regardless of how they felt towards each other which he suspected to be mutual, he did have an obligation he felt, to ensure she was safe, even if she was a former enemy and hated his guts more than likely. As a result, Julien remained observant, looking around as she had to confirm her sightings before Dahlia had took the seat next to him and making herself as comfortable as she could be in this situation. The park was not exactly Julien's place to be, but it was the best place to talk and have an open view of everything around you so if Jasper was right with his warning, he'd be able to spot people from miles around, rather than the pub which had a much more limited view and not knowing whether those in close proximity were everyday people or people out to destroy the marriage, which he would welcome to be quite honest but not at his expense.

Even if he disliked the idea, it was his parents' decision and even she did not like it as she turned to him and replied, "Like a pawn on a chess board"[/b]. That about summed it up for him also. In the 'business' that their families were in, every move had to be calculated with their parents as the 'King' and 'Queen' of each board, but it was totally unfair and unreasonable to have their only offspring as pawns to send them across the board in dangerous territory. Clearly a 'Knight' would of been more cool, having the ability to move forward and backwards, but with pawns, there was no turning back, only can follow the instructions from what they've been told, but to enter a relationship without love or trust, wasn't even a relationship at all. It was nothing.

However, despite his feelings, he had to do what his father wanted, so if anything happened to Dahlia, then they'd be Hell to pay. Sure they were enemies and both wanted to be apart and doing their own thing, but each of them were following what their parents had said and were both here, so they wouldn't want anything to happen to the other or they'd be Hell to pay by their parents, as well as the consequence. Such was probably what Jasper meant that should any danger come, she was his nearest back-up, but personally Julien preferred to defend himself and if he needed aid, then he wanted it from his own men and not a girl who would rather be the one pointing the trigger at him, rather than the shooter. Then again, things could change, as she had at least heard him out and sat by him rather than the other side of the fountain so it was a start.

[i]"How do you feel?"
, she then asked, after she had re-adjusted herself to play with the water, while leaving Julien with her chest's undivided attention. Even as enemies in school due to their families' rivalry, Julien could not deny one fact which he decided to use here to try and lighten the mood which she could take as a compliment, regardless if she believed him or not, "Not bad for sitting next to one of the prettiest girls from school" as he then turned away slightly, "and before you say anything, yes I won't let it get to my head..", he added while under the impression she would respond in such a way. Afterall, they had spent quite a few years in college together, despite being enemies. Yes she was pretty, but it did not necessarily mean they were angels as she certainly weren't in school.

Turning his head back to her, he then straightened his face, "But honestly, I believe we finally agree on something as I feel the same way. It's all not fair at all, as they certainly didn't have their parents choose for them, at least what I'm aware of" in reference to her parents, "It's all well and good that our parents decide to become friends and work together instead of being bitter enemies, but now they expect everything will be alright if we kiss and make-up. Heck it even isn't just that. I'm not sure if you've got your eye on anymore, and I haven't as of yet, but still, we're 18, just finished college, and now expected to get married already. It's a bit quick isn't it", keeping his tone as quiet as possible for any passers-by, though thankfully the Park is not the busiest place, hence the beauty of it.

Dahlia stopped messing with the water and just looked at it. She was trying to think of a reason for the loveless marriage. Why her parents would go through so much trouble to put her in something she didn't agree with. Of all the times she has agreed with them to do something stupid this would not be one of those times. She was going to fight. Not like she wanted spend the rest of her life with someone she couldn't stand. She shook her head and rubbed her wet hands through her hair. It was that or rub them on her jeans which wasn't going to happen.

She looked up at him when Julien had complimented her. She was going to say something, but he had cut her off. It was strange to hear him say something nice about her. It actually left her speechless. She was just going to ask him why he would say that at a time like this, but he had moved on. They had been going to school together for a while, but never really talked to each other. She never sat next to him or even acknowledge his presence. To be honest, he was just another person. Not really an enemy. She hated him because her parents hated his. It was only natural, or common sense to be the enemy of your friends enemy.

Why were they enemies? She never asked or even tried to figure it out. They never actually did anything wrong that she knew about. It was like they woke up wanting to hate each other and it didn't make any sense. Waking up and wanting to hate someone is wrong. Her cellphone buzzed pulling her out of her thoughts. The entire time she was thinking she realized Julien was trying to talk to her. She caught the last part of it and nodded. "It is. And I won't let my parents do this to me," she said looking down at her phone. The message was from ray.

Invite your beloved to dinner. Order from Father he sent. She let out a frustrated sigh and put her phone away. As if on autopilot she started to mess with the tips of her hair. She looked at Julien and bit her lower lip. It was like she was asking him on a date. She didn't want him in her house and she didn't want him at the dinner table. "I have to invite you to dinner," she said with some disappointment. It wasn't exactly a question, but it was more of a command from higher up.

It seemed that so far, he and Dahlia were on the same wave length. For the past years, they had each been taught to despise the other and had done so, and despite their opposition to their parents' plans, they also agreed to meet each other and both felt it was wrong. She could of opted to not speak to him at all, she could of opted to not put on her best clothes or pretty herself up, but she had not, opting instead to be respectful and look her best just as he did. It was why he complimented her since he was pleased he did and that she did look pretty, as despite them being apart at school, she was like a rose that looked nice but had its thorns that made her someone to avoid, with the whole enemy thing being the reason, the only reason really.

Nevertheless, they seemed to be on talking terms now and seemed to agree with each other for once, "It is. And I won't let my parents do this to me" before looking to her phone. He hoped that now he had the opportunity to tell her what he thought and that they were of the same mind, that things will get better and that there was no need for this arranged marriage to keep them together if that was their parents' intention. Maybe this was the plan all along, to have the two of them have a common goal to make this transistion go alot more smoothly, that this whole arranged marriage thing was just a wind up. Julien dearly hoped so, so he could get back to relaxing again.

It was then that Dahlia turned to him, "I have to invite you to dinner", not sounding enthusiastic about it at all and nor was he, "Dinner? Is that just the two of us or with your parents too? If it's the latter, again, it's a bit quick isn't it for the whole meeting your parents thing", before Julien felt a buzz in his pocket, causing him to close his eyes as his hand slowly crept into his pocket as if removing something from his back, before opening one eye as he turned on his phone and saw the message and begun to chuckle.

"I got a message too. Can't have five minutes without being told what to do huh? My mother is telling me to make sure I get a bouquet of flowers, as if I don't already know, as if I have no idea how to treat a girl. Boy it's annoying", he sighed as he lifted his head back to look up at the sky and laying each hand either side of him on the ledge to support his weight, though unfortunately he knew he couldn't relax when any wrong move had a fountain right beside him, so he had certainly made a poor choice of where to sit already. He could remember how peaceful and relaxing it was yesterday, as he took his time and the only ones who contacted him was his mates to invite him places, but now he was like an errand boy doing chores that he didn't feel like doing.

"Dinner? Is that just the two of us or with your parents too? If it's the latter, again, it's a bit quick isn't it for the whole meeting your parents thing." For some reason that made Dahlia giggled. He did have a point. She never introduced any boyfriends to her parents until the third or fourth date. She and Julien haven't even been on one date. Just the thought of dating Julien put discomfort in her. She couldn't ever go that far with him. Right now they were working on being friends. Or acquaintances really. "I honestly have no clue," she said rubbing her hands on her thighs. It was a nervous habit she had. She has been trying to break it, but she is having difficulty.

"I got a message too. Can't have five minutes without being told what to do huh? My mother is telling me to make sure I get a bouquet of flowers, as if I don't already know, as if I have no idea how to treat a girl. Boy it's annoying"
Dahlia hated being told what to do by her parents. She could honestly care less about this supposed 'date' they were having. She ran her fingers through her hair, she pulled her phone back out and sent a quick text to Ray. When it sent she message, she pocketed the phone and stood. "My favorite flower is an orchid. Be at my house around 7 and dress up. You may be meeting the 'rents" she said slowly walking away. Dahlia waved goodbye and then continued walking towards the exit. Ray was just in time.

""How was it?" Ray asked her as she got into the car. She rolled her eyes. "Fabulous. We can't wait for the wedding and the dinner date tonight," Dahlia said with fake enthusiasm. Ray laughed at her and continued to drive towards the house. She went off into a daydream thinking about the outfit she was going to wear. Then it lingered to being able to get out of the wedding and marrying the one she loved. That was all she really wanted, but that was never going to happen.

The Beaumont and Emmessy have been rivals as long as Julien could remember. To think that he and Dahlia could even speak to each other has always been an impossibility as Dahlia would keep to her own while he kept to his own during their college life. Such was easy to do as Julien had his mates and Dahlia had her mates, so there was no trouble in ignoring one another and spreading the hate which had been drummed into their upbringing, but now they were ordered to spread the love to a sworn enemy. He certainly could not see him and Dahlia get along, he wasn't even one hundred percent sure that she'd even turn up to meet him in the park, afterall, she was an Emmessy.

Instead, she ended up surprising him by coming, though no doubt it was by orders from her parents that she had to attend, though she did dress nice and even surprised himself by complimenting her. Afterall, usually they kept their distance but now they sat next to each other and actually spoke for a change, and it seemed that she too agreed with him, which was just as he thought. Julien personally did not have any girl that was on his mind, as he was still young, no way near marrying age, this was the dating age, yet now the two of them were expected to marry so young when they had hardly dated, and now he had dinner with the parents to prepare for.

Seeing that Dahlia felt the same way, Julien decided to help bridge the gap that had formed throughout their lives by saying what was on his mind, and it seemed his comment made her giggle, which in itself made him smile though he didn't show such too much. Anyone could make a person smile, look at the clowns you see at the circus, complete strangers, and this was how it was between them now as they hardly knew each other properly, only by their rivalry which had built walls between them where such walls were slowly being demolished.

It seemed that the meeting had gone well, since it hadn't been Dahlia throwing insults at him and had gave it a try just as he had. Dahlia certainly seemed quite attached to her phone however, before she then replied, "My favourite flower is an orchid. Be at my house around 7 and dress up. You may be meeting the 'rents", giving her own orders to him which only made him smile before she left, waved goodbye and disappeared into the distance. Julien had no problems dressing up, but he still had to get his head around as to why such was happening as Jasper told him that there must be a reason but what was that reason. Growing up, he's been used to rejecting the Emmessy's and now he was to embrace them and even dine with them. Boy what was wrong with everyone lately.

It was then that the phone rang as he then picked it up, "Hey Julien, what you up to?", came a voice that made him smile. "Hey Beks, not doing alot, only trying to survive is all, I have no idea how I am supposed to get along with a girl that would love to see the back of me, and by back, I mean not seeing me", but her usual comforting voice ended up being not so comforting, "What do you mean by supposed Julien? If she doesn't like you, move on as you usually do". Rebecca has been quite the ally for Julien with her father being one of his fathers' associates, so he was surprised that she wasn't aware, "Well you know the Emmessy, well apparantly my parents are now best buddies with them, but not only that, you know Dahlia, I'm supposed to be, umm, marrying her", rubbing his neck and trying to believe he was dreaming and that he'd wake up elsewhere, but instead he heard laughter, "Oi, it's not funny you know, but I truly think something fishy is going on. I don't know what my parents are hiding".

Then a change in Rebecca's tone changed as a result, "I thought you were having a laugh but your not kidding are ya! I'm certainly not aware of any Beaumont-Emmessy alliance. As far as I'm aware, I'm still on orders that if the Emmessy mess with our plans, then I resist as per usual, and now I'm just confused", "And now you go and confuse me even more if your side don't even know about it. I have two tasks for you, first I need you to pick up the best bunch of orchids you can get, because I'll just pick any and until I know what's going on, I need to act the part and make sure they are good so I need the woman's touch", "Sounds like your liking this girl", "Shut up, I can't do a thing if I don't go through with this. Just....get what I asked please Beks and give them to Jasper, and after that, just enquire to your dad on any Emmessy activity. If it seems fishy to you, then clearly we have a problem on our hands, or this is some evil trick to get us to work for the company more which I don't care a monkey's butt about", "That's Julien Beaumont alright....I'll do it, you better be a good boy then, chow".

Julien then placed the phone back in his pocket and sighed, "I'll try but am certainly not liking it" as he then proceeded out the park where Jasper was waiting convienantly, no doubt keeping his eye out for Dahlia's own lift so he could follow suit. "I still haven't the foggiest what is going on, but if I don't get answers soon, I'm going to burst, and I still don't understand why you gave me this gun", he began to rant as soon as he got to the car before Jasper looked at him through the front mirror, "Doesn't hurt to be prepared young master, but suggest you keep your cool. Like I told you before, your father will tell you all in good time so you must be patient, but that's all I can say on the matter because that's all I know", before he then drove away.

(Outside Emmessy House)

Having time to get ready, Julien had been back home, had a fresh shower and traded in his black jeans and black shirt to a tuxedo, deciding to go with a red shirt and black tie with a rose, since red was the colour of love and this was what he and Dahlia were supposed to be portraying, as much as the thought of doing such was the last thing on their minds, but least they both understood the others' position and that it wasn't some game of the other of a secret crush and using their parents' to make their dream come true. It was nothing like that at all. It did however make him wonder if Dahlia did have any boyfriend or have any crush that she'd rather be with, which he couldn't blame her for. This whole thing was a shambles, but he'd make the most of it either way and look decent.

Being dropped off by Jasper, he approached the door and rang the chime. His shoes had been polished, his face washed, and carried a bunch of orchid flowers that he hoped Dahlia would like, as well as milk chocolates in a heart-shaped case that Rebecca decided to add to her shopping list. Talk about starting small, but then again, they really had no choice with their parents pushing them this way and that as if they were puppets. Now all that remained was facing all those behind this door and hoping it was not a slagging off the Beaumont session, so he had to make sure that there was no reason for them to do so. It was all the guys could truly do, as it would always be the women that looked the most amazing so he began to wonder how Dahlia would look, as she did make an effort and did look nice in the park, so it could only get better he presumed.

Dahlia wanted to kill herself and she could think of a few ways to do it so that it looks like an accident. Ray was afraid to talk to her since she was in a deadly state. He silently thanked the heavens she didn't have a weapon. She let out a sigh and tried to calm herself down, but Ray wasn't helping when he decided to bring up an ugly topic of conversation. "What are you going to do about Drake?" he asked. Dahlia let out a frustrated groan. She didn't even want to think about it. Ray took the silence as a way to tell him to shut up so he did. She hit her head against the car window during the drive.

The Andersons are close friends with her mother. Drake so happens to be their first born son. He was the same age as Dahlia and they are really close. She considers him a best friend and anyone that threatens him has to deal with her fury. Like Ray says, "hell hath no fury than a women's scorn." Just recently they have gone a few dates. More than three counts as a relationship, but now that is isn't going to happen anymore due to the Julien thing. How was she going to tell her 'boyfriend' that she can no longer see him due to a prearranged marriage. He wasn't even part of a Mafia group. He was just there on the side. So she would have to explain that as well.

When they pulled up to her house she got out without so much of a word to Ray. She walked right past her evil without so much of a glance. Her door slammed so hard that it rang throughout the house. She was going to have to break the heart of her best friend/boyfriend and marry the person she could careless about. Life isn't fair. She wanted to die. She decided to just get ready.

((AFTER HOURS OF GIRLY PREP))

Despite the person she was about to see and the people she was eating with, Dahlia dressed her best. With a well deserved bath she felt that she had done a wonderful job preparing for a date with an enemy. She was still confused to why this was happening. She ditched the jeans and top for a elegant dressed that her parents would not approve of. But she had never cared for her parents approval. Not now. Not ever. Definitely not tonight.

Her dress was strapless and stopped around her knees. The top part by her chest was completely black while the bottom part was yellow. It displayed her curves perfectly and it was just the way to get attention in the room. She straightened her hair completely which took out any wave and added a shine. Her hair was redder than usual. Her make up was flawless as usual. Only difference was light yellow eye shadow.

Ray went to open the door and let Julien in the house. "I'll summon her," he said while running up the stairs to grab Dahlia. He barged into her room when she slipped on her black 4 inch heels. "I'm coming, get out." Ray left without a word. Taking a deep breath, Dahlia left her room and descended down the stairs. Julien was holding the orchids and looked pretty nice. Cleans up well.. she thought to herself. She reached the bottom and fiddled with the ends of her dress. "Your father will be joining you two shortly," Ray said to Dahlia. She nodded in understanding. She was going to have to see him eventually. When Ray left she shifted her gaze from the flowers to Julien. "Where did you find those?" she asked with humor in her voice.

As he stood outside of the door, he begun to prepare himself. He begun to wonder how 'friendly' his parents and Dahlia's parents were, and if his parents have actually ever come to their home as he had. Sure Julien cared less about the family business and with all this arranged marriage stuff, he was caring even less and less by the fact he couldn't even choose a woman that he wished to spend the rest of his life with. There was no secret that Julien had little love for the company from those who knew him, but if he was starting to enter a political arrangement of his fathers, if this was the case, then surely he as the male should know about it, even more so than Dahlia. Why would Jasper give him the gun and making sure he was armed....it certainly would not be for no reason.

Just then, the door opened as a man let him in before running upstairs, no doubt to fetch Dahlia and giving Julien time to adjust to the surroundings. At the park, she arrived in a nice top and jeans and made sure to look her best, just as he did with his relaxing clothes, so he could only imagine what she'd be wearing tonight. Despite their opposition to this marriage which they both shared, they each had their principles and would not make a mess of things even if they desired such, but if he made no effort to do his fathers' bidding and his father caught on, then he was still in trouble seeing as his father felt this marriage was important, but why.

It was then that Dahlia arrived and he smiled as he saw her, but despite looking nice, he was well aware that she'd rather be presenting herself to a guy she can actually get close to rather than him, and the same could be said for himself. The butler then mentioned to Dahlia that her father would be joining them soon, meaning he had little time to prepare himself, especially to keep his cool and trying to behave but what Julien truly wanted was answers, and how their two warring families were suddenly best of friends. It made no sense and he was also concerned of how this dinner would go, since the pair of them could not even try and have a moment's peace without her father or his mother intruding and giving their instructions, so he certainly hoped that her father wouldn't come and start giving orders infront of them.

"Where did you find those?", Dahlia asked as Julien turned to her, "Bouquet shop, where else?", he answered sarcastically but didn't want to be taking out his frustrations on her, "Sorry, didn't mean to burst out like that", it wasn't her fault. With that, he then walked forward and then presented the flowers to her, "I know I may not seem the flowery-type, but wanted the best for you, so not ashamed to say that this weren't by my doing. You deserve pretty flowers", before lowering his tone, "Just as you deserve to have the guy of your dreams, so let's try and get through this together shall we. I'll try to behave", giving a thin charming smile, before offering his arm as a gentleman would.

Personally for him, dinner with the parents would be so much later, but now they were thrown into the deep end, and the best way to survive in the deep end if you couldn't bare it, was to work together, such that he proposed. Not to mention that her father will be watching their every move no doubt, so he didn't want her father giving her grief for not doing this and that and making the situation worser than it already was. "You look amazing by the way", he then added, complimenting her choice of dress. If a girl went through so much trouble in getting ready, the least a guy could do was take note of that, which is what Julien did, even if he hadn't found the right girl for him. Infact he was truthfully a little picky.

Dahlia believes in first impressions whenever you meet with someone. Whether you already know who the person is, depending on the actions from the first few moments it pretty much tells her how the night is going to go. Julien started with a sarcastic comment and she was getting ready to just leave him there in the front to face her father alone, but he corrected his own mistake. His sincerity changed her mind. She knew Julien wasn't a mean person, it was just his aura. She gratefully took the orchids and smiled. "Thank you," she sniffed them and held them close to her. She loved these flowers, but she can't always get them.

"Just as you deserve to have the guy of your dreams, so let's try and get through this together shall we. I'll try to behave" Dahlia nodded. Behaving was what they would have to do if they were going to make it through the night. A rushed night. She would have preferred a date before he officially met her father. Her father honestly wasn't the first person you would want to meet in her family. He is the strictest and the meanest. It is going to be hell for both of them. Her thoughts were interrupted, but a compliment from Julien. "You look good as well," she said. And it wasn't a lie. He did look nice.

"You both look nice. Now are you both ready for dinner," Her father asked walking into the room. Dahlia rolled her eyes. "You say it like I have a choice," Dahlia muttered under her breath. Her father glared at her, but didn't say anything. Looking back at Julien, he gave a bright smile sticking out a hand. "Nice to see you on better circumstances," he said. Dahlia took a step back while clutching the flowers. She was trying to hid the disgust in her face.

It was nice to see a smile on Dahlia's face as soon as he had passed her the flowers that he had ordered for her. With this whole affair, it was no doubt hard for them both, but even more for Dahlia. He and Dahlia wasn't so acquainted with each other at school so he knew not of her affairs and her own love life, but being one of the prettiest girls in the school, despite being an enemy, Julien could assume that a guy probably wished to nab her up while he tried to get into a relationship and care for someone, before they decided to turn their back and move onto someone else, now that he had spent quite a bit of money on them and having what they wanted, but Julien had never learnt his lesson and still felt that money was power, and denying this whole affair would make him money-less, power-less, and what girl would want him then.

Speaking of that, what girl would want him now with this whole arrangement since he couldn't date any girls when he had this arranged marriage with Dahlia causing him to be 'already spoken for', yet the one he is supposed to be marrying is one who didn't even want to be with him yet was forced to just like him, it was only that which truly bound them. Nevertheless, they had their courtesies and he wasn't lying when he told her that she did look nice as she truly did, so he smiled in return when she complimented him so he must be doing something right, "You look good as well", before another voice entered and complimented them both before asking if they were ready for dinner, such a voice belonged to that of Dahlia's father, Mr Emmessy, once the arch-nemesis of his father and now best buds. He didn't mind the best-buds part but why all this? and he was really tempted to ask Mr Emmessy but as he told Dahlia, he would try and behave, so would constrain himself....for now.

"You say it like I have a choice", Julien heard Dahlia say, causing the corners of his mouth to tug slightly, before hiding his amusement by using his tongue to go over his teeth and looking around the place, but funnily enough, her thoughts were the same as his own since he too didn't have a choice in the matter, before he turned back as her father smiled at him and held out his hand, "Nice to see you on better circumstances", which Julien responded in kind to respect the host by shaking his hand, "Same to you", keeping it short and sweet as Dahlia had begun with him at the park.

In order to move the conversation on, he then asked, "So what is on the menu tonight....or is it a surprise...among other things...". Julien tried hard to be patient, but when he reaches his limit and when he is stressed and his father is unwilling to let on, then sarcasm like earlier kicks in, as well as saying what is on his mind openly. "Afterall, was a surprise when I found out I was marrying your beautiful daughter...Not that it was a bad thing, but a surprise nonetheless...If I had known earlier, we could of swapped daisy chains", giving a smirk and turning to Dahlia, before straightening his smile to ask, "So where is Dahlia sitting, so I can do the gentleman thing...I know I am a guest and all, but I feel I should...", wishing to be respectful regardless of how he felt about all this jumping out of him at once, as it wasn't only partnering the two of them up, but getting the pair of them married and so soon also. What was all the hype about...

Dahlia refused to speak during this get together or at least while her father was talking to Julien. She was always told that if she has nothing nice to say then she should keep quiet. It was something she was always good at. At the moment Julien was babbling away about surprises. The meaning behind it was the surprise marriage, but she kept that snide remark to herself. The joke about them swapping daisy chains made her giggle. Her dad glared at her and she silenced herself. "So where is Dahlia sitting, so I can do the gentleman thing...I know I am a guest and all, but I feel I should...", They finally entered the dining room and her father took his seat at the head table.

"Dahlia show Julien where you sit," he commanded. She rolled her eyes, but did as she was told. She went to the left side of her father's chair on the side. She always sat there. It was her dedicated seat. Ray would always joke about having her name carved into the chair. Without waiting for Julien, she said down in her chair. She was a big girl and did not need help sitting down. Her father looked appalled. "What? I'm a big girl now. I can sit down without hte assistance of a man." she looked to Julien. "No offense Julien," she assured him. Ray came out with the tomato soup appetizers. In addition to being Dahlia's best friend. He worked for her father.

"How is your family Julien?" her father asked while placing a napkin on his lap.

Unless there was a way to get out of what was now happening, in the near future, Dahlia's father would be his father-in-law and her mother would be his mother-in-law, but such didn't mean that he had to respect them at every turn. After all, as much as he cares about his own parents, when they keep things important to themselves when such involves him, it displeases him very much and her parents were doing exactly the same. The only one he was looking out for was number one, himself, which was pretty usual with his laid back manner and using his wealth to get some pleasure from life, such that was a cut away from being taken from him. Julien was a kind enough fellow to know, sure he jokes around and teases, but he does give respect where it is due, but what he dislikes very much, other than the withholding of information and blatantly lying in front of him, was threats. Julien clearly was not a 'happy bunny' but for a change, he seemed to be looking out for someone other than himself, Dahlia, which he could not imagine himself doing back in college.

He could not imagine himself doing a lot of things with the Emmessy family, but it seemed as of late that his whole life suddenly revolved around them with his father with a poking stick, prodding him towards him so he could not answer back, but he could only hold back for so long. A guy had limits, and when the limit was reached, then those angering him were causing him to reach boiling point, regardless of who it was. It was not that Julien had anger problems as he does not, but due to his laid back nature, he suppresses certain thoughts and holds them, so when he lashes out, it sort of empties his system. Nevertheless, Julien kept his cool by now, despite his snidy remark about the daisy chains which he was pleased to hear Dahlia agree with him with her giggle before she suddenly stopped, no doubt from her father. Dahlia was on a leash and being prodded much like he was, but he wouldn't be a good pet when he gets prodded too much.

Following her fathers' instructions, Dahlia showed him her seat and tried to hide his smile when she sat down and told her father that she didn't need any assistance of a man, before she turned to him, "No offence Julien", leading him to respond, "None taken", before taking a seat that he felt was right, which was on the other side of Dahlia. Afterall, they were partnered up to get married so shouldn't couples sit together. Besides, it felt like Julien had an ally by sitting next to her, rather than just have her across the table, as well as intentionally having her between himself and her father so if he was about to go off stream, he also had to think about Dahlia in the middle to keep his cool. If that wasn't enough, there was always the food as their butler, much like Jasper back home, served some tomato soup which Julien digged into as couldn't really go wrong with food afterall.

"How is your family Julien?", her father asked him as he begun making himself tidy. Personally Julien preferred to simply dig in because he knew for a fact that he wouldn't spill any food on himself and did not need a bib. It was not that he did not appreciate cleanliness since he wipes his mouth afterwards and eats in a dignified manner, but having to put on a bib every time he wanted something to eat was too much. What was next, a diaper in case he wanted to go toilet and not wishing to leave the table. Maybe these chairs had built in potties so they could talk all day, as the talking was now beginning, starting with none other than his family which he had distanced himself from since hearing the news. Now how to answer, "They are well...thank you for asking", keeping his rant to himself, though he couldn't really say much anyway as he didn't know anything about their business as he kept himself from it and preferring to reap in the rewards instead of all the work. "and with you? everything well on your end?", not really sure what to say since he wasn't into the whole politics of their families' endeavours.

Dahlia was so bored of this dinner. She had finished her soup and she was waiting for Ray to bring out the main dish so that Julien could go home and she could sneak out to see Drake. She wanted to talk to him about what was going on and the where their relationship was going to have to end. It would be hard, but it's not like she could stay with him and be married. Dahlia didn't like Julien, but she is faithful. Her mother taught her that. She hated this and she wasn't going to sit here and be tortured by her father. "and with you? everything well on your end?"

Dahlia good answer that with one word. Terrible. Everything was going downhill. They were being betrayed left and right. Her father has had to put down three people because of it. All their work has had to be done on the down low and Ray has to follow her everywhere. It was a pain in the ass and to make things worse, her parents won't tell her anything. But she already knows that her father was going to lie and say everything is fine. He didn't like looking weak, but Dahlia didn't give a shit. "Everything is doing well, thank you." She rolled out a sigh and pushed her bowl away from her. She put her head on the table. "Dahlia? What seems to be the problem?" She looked up at him debating whether or not she should answer that question.

"You and this dinner is my problem." she stood up out of her chair and Ray walked in with the main course. It was roasted pig, but she wasn't going to eat down here with them. "Send my meal to my room. I'm done here." she said walking out of the dining room and dashing up the stairs to her room. She wasn't going to do this anymore. She checked her phone and she got a text message and a phone call from Drake. She ignored it. She would talk to him later.

Her father let out a nervous laugh and pulled himself some pig. "Excuse my daughter. She can be a handful," he said trying to excuse her behavior.

The atmosphere on the table was certainly tense, so this whole dinner arrangement was going 'well' so far with a guest who wasn't comfortable being here and Dahlia who certainly didn't seem like she was enjoying herself when she was eating with someone she did not like as well as her father who put her in this situation in the first place. Surely if he wished this arranged marriage to work, then clearly the two needed to get used to each other, to give them space, pushing them together and having them at a formal dinner so soon was surely a bad idea, but Julien was convinced more and more that something must be going on.

His father was unwilling to give him any idea of what was going on, however parents tended to be overprotective over their daughters and there lies the weakness that Julien hoped to use with Mr Emmessy and see if he could get anything else out of him. He wasn't expecting the full story, but at least something basic as he was confident that he could fill in the pieces. When Julien didn't know something and felt missed out, then he would like to use what was at his disposal to find out what it was, he did not like secrets unless they was his own. So far he had gathered that there was danger involved by the fact Jasper gave him a gun, so he was curious what from.

"Everything is doing well, thank you", was his reply, before hearing Dahlia sigh and clearly showing her boredom by putting her head on the table as her father asked what was wrong before she stood up, "You and this dinner is my problem...Send my meal to my room. I'm done here", as she made her exit. So much for behaving and trying to last the night, now the space beside him was empty so he no longer had an ally by his side, nor did he have Dahlia inbetween him and her father to keep his cool, so now acting proper and behaving would certainly be a challenge. He'd of course do his best but it would be hard now.

"Excuse my daughter. She can be a handful", he answered after before responding, "There is no apology needed", before turning to the butler, "Sir, could you give these to Dahlia, tomorrow night and to take it easy", which he said with a smile as he passed two first-class tickets in the cinema for any screening of her choice, "My number is there too and I'll be sure to take her home", though on the back of the card which had his number on, Julien writes down that she can take someone else should she choose, but to tell him when to pick her up, which clearly was to avoid suspicion.

Julien's only concern was with the butler if he would look at the back of the card himself and see through his deception, though it did serve as a test to see where the butlers' loyalties lie. Afterall, Jasper was employed by his father yet gave him some clues so he couldn't really judge their butler when he was merely doing his told. Once handing over the tickets, Julien made sure to speak his concern after mere seconds past, so that the butler can hear as he turned back to Mr Emmessy, "As for being a handful, I do not believe so. Personally I believe she is doing admirably with the circumstances", before reaching out for his dinner before cutting it up.

It was his intention that should the butler pass on what he has said to Dahlia, then such would show that he was on her side. Right now however, he was doing his best to remain polite but what he wanted more was answers, as he then began to eat some of the meat. "This is wonderful", taking note of the taste that came from the pig, before turning to Mr Emmessy again, "I am certainly priviledged, honored, to take the hand of your beautiful daughter I must say...", he then added but left his statement unfinished to be able to give Mr Emmessy a chance to comment and see if he will say anything now that Dahlia was out the room.

Ray shook his head as he watched Dahlia leave the room. He already knew that she wouldn't last down here with them. She wasn't on the best of terms with her dad right now and Julien being in the room wasn't helping. He started to cut pig and put it on a plate for her when Julien handed him something. "Sir, could you give these to Dahlia, tomorrow night and to take it easy" He nodded and saw they were movie tickets. It was a sweet gesture, but Dahlia wasn't a movie person. Ah well. It's not like Julien knew anything about her. "My number is there too and I'll be sure to take her home", Julien took the number and put it with the tickets into the pocket. He didn't bother to check it. He may work for Mr. Emmessy, he was Dahlia's best friend.

He finished with her plate and he disappeared upstairs to Dahlia's room. He walked in there and gave a quick look around. She was not on her bed, but her bathroom light was on. Clearly she was hiding. "Dahlia? I have food for you." he said to her. He set the food on her bed along with the items Julien gave him. He walked out of the room back downstairs to the dining room area where Mr. Emmessy and Julien were. He walked by and disappeared into the kitchen. Dahlia emerged from her bathroom and ate the food that was given to her. She overlooked the movie tickets and picked up the card with Julien's number on it. She looked on the back and smiled. He was sweet at times.

Mr. Emmessy didn't try and send someone after Dahlia and he certainly wasn't going to embarrassing himself for her. He was going to continue to eat dinner and act as if the nothing out of the random has happened. ""As for being a handful, I do not believe so. Personally I believe she is doing admirably with the circumstances", He nodded to show that he was listening to what he was saying. "Good." was his response to that. If his daughter acted out it would ruin the plan that has been set. "I am certainly priviledged, honored, to take the hand of your beautiful daughter I must say...", At this he stopped eating and looked up at Julien.

He let out a sigh. "I care for a daughter and despite how much she dislikes this situation it is what's best for her. I don't know what your dad has to say about this, but all I know is that my daughter had better stay safe." he said with seriousness. He then went back to eating the food. He didn't have anything else to say on the matter of the marriage. He wanted to finish dinner.

While everyone else was downstairs, Dahlia had finished her meal and she had crept out of the window to see Drake. He has agreed to meet her at the park. Despite how dark it is outside she was determined to see him one last time. Once she safely made it to the ground she ran towards the park. She stayed well hidden in the dark making sure not to be seen.

Julien certainly hoped Dahlia was alright but clearly this was not the ideal situation she wished to be in, so he could not blame her decision to leave the table and stay upstairs as clearly such was the perfect place to vent out frustrations or simply have her time to relax. Afterall, a few hours ago she had met him at the park and now having to deal with him and her father who angered her as much as he angered his own father. It was a shame that she wasn't eating dinner with her, as such would be a whole lot more preferable than having dinner with her old man. Oh well. As soon as dinner was done, he could be out of there and he could see Dahlia tomorrow night to see how she was holding up since she no doubt wanted her space.

As he sat eating his dinner, he took note of Mr Emmessy's body language. He didn't comment on what he said about the circumstances Dahlia was faced with, so clearly he understood her position yet must feel it was for the best and necessary, exactly how his father felt, except he didn't know why this whole thing was all so secretive, so as soon as he stopped eating, Julien hoped that his ploy had worked and that he would spill, "I care for a daughter and despite how much she dislikes this situation it is what's best for her. I don't know what your dad has to say about this, but all I know is that my daughter had better stay safe". Unfortunately he did not spill, but once again, he got the impression something was wrong when he had that he wanted her to stay safe.

The question on his mind was safe from what? or safe from who? why did Jasper give him the gun? what did Jasper mean by he wasn't the only one against it....was this referring to Dahlia or someone else? What Julien wanted was answers but all he was getting was all vagueness, but the fact he returned to his dinner that he wouldn't get anything else out of him until dinner was finished, so he too returned to dinner and kept his thoughts to himself for now.

When dinner was over, he turned to the butler who came to collect the plates, "That was marvellous, compliments to the chef", using the tissue to wipe round his mouth, before turning to Mr Emmessy since he could not use dinner as an excuse, "So like you were saying before, you want your daughter safe and that this is best for her. My father told me the same thing, that this arrangement is for the best, but I'd like to know why, I'd like to know what is going on, even if it is just a little bit. You said that your daughter had better stay safe, be safe from what exactly? I am as much responsible for her as you are now, with respect sir", hoping for answers.

Dinner wasn't everything Mr. Emmessy hoped it would be. He certainly didn't expect Julien to be so cooperative and he didn't expect Dahlia to leave the table so rudely, but that all happened. In the end the dinner went somewhat well and him and Julien had survived the night. As they finished up, Mr. Emmessy called Ray over to clear the tables. The food seemed to be in liking of Julien which made Ray smile. He didn't cook it, but it wasn't something he heard everyday. "So like you were saying before, you want your daughter safe and that this is best for her. My father told me the same thing, that this arrangement is for the best, but I'd like to know why, I'd like to know what is going on, even if it is just a little bit. You said that your daughter had better stay safe, be safe from what exactly? I am as much responsible for her as you are now, with respect sir" Mr. Emmessy let out a sigh and stood up from the table. "In due time you will know, but not now," he said. "I am retiring for the night. Thank you for coming."

Dahlia had made it too the park and she was sitting on the bench looking around hoping to find Drake. He hasn't shown up and it has been over an hour. It wasn't like him to just stand her up, but there was a first time for everything. She looked down at the clock and sighed. Dinner was over by now. She needed to get home before they realize she is gone. She didn't want to face her father. He would lecture her about the importance of the marriage. And her mother would give her another lecture on the duties of a wife. She didn't want to sit through that. She wanted to be able to do what she wanted, when she wanted too. Ever since she was given freedom, she has hated taking orders and these were one of those times.

She stood up from the bench and started the walk home, but she took the long way. Trying to prolong what was to come. Behind her she heard footsteps she had a wide smile and turned around, but whoever was following her seemed to disappear. Drake wouldn't have done that or tried to freak her out this late in the night. She continued her walk just to hear the footsteps again only they were faster. She looked back and they were gone. At this point she started to run. Only it wasn't one set of footprints that were following her. There were several. She picked up speed and tried to find a place to hide. She made a quick turn and pressed her back against the wall. She saw the men run past her.

Dahlia pulled out her phone and scrolled through the list to see who could come and get her. Drake stood her up so that was out of the question. Ray couldn't leave the house with her father's permission and if he told her why then she would get in trouble. She could ask her mom, but she would just send Ray. Which would result in her getting in trouble. There was an obvious reason for why she couldn't call her father. The only other person she knew who would come and get her would be Julien. She decided to text him just in case the men were lurking around for her.

To: Julien
Help me. I was being chased by these men and I don't know where they are anymore. I'm a few blocks away from the park in an alley. Please hurry. And don't tell my dad.

She sent the message and put the phone in her pocket. She sat down on the asphalt and wrapped her arms around herself. She just hopes Julien comes to get her or she may have to face her father's fury.

Many questions were in his head and he believed he wasn't asking a great deal. Afterall, weren't they all on the same side now, weren't they all friends, because if that was so, then why all the secrets, why all the hush hush, as didn't friends tell each other everything, did family mean anything to them, afterall he was to be their son-in-law. It was just frustrating not to know something, especially something of extreme importance that all this seemed to be or was this a whole game to wind him up and break him. Sure they were doing a great job if they was, but they certainly had hell to pay once he does crack the code.

Julien had had the simple life, the life given to him on a silver platter where he gets what he wants and continues to use the wealth he has at his disposal for his own gain, but now what? All he wants is someone to explain, he was not asking for the entire reason, just a little bit since he believed that something was up with Mr Emmessy speaking of his hopes for Dahlia to be safe and how Jasper gave him a gun, but why is what he wanted to know. When he stood and sighed, he was hoping that he'd give answers, pleading with his eyes that he'd finally get something concrete to help put things in perspective, but instead, "In due time you will know, but not now. I am retiring for the night. Thank you for coming", before he left and causing Julien to get angry and losing it as he shouted, "Damn you!", slamming his fist into the table that thankfully was cleared now.

He decided to spend the next few moments to cool himself down, having no answers on both ends even from a father who cared for his daughters' life but clearly not enough, and then his phone vibrated as he picked it up and saw a message from Dahlia. That was an idea, maybe he could go upstairs to her to cool off and be with someone more likeminded, as he took some wine and downed it in one gulp, before reading the text, "Help me. I was being chased by these men and I don't know where they are anymore. I'm a few blocks from the park in an alley", but he stopped there and immediately closed his phone and put it away, banging his fist in the table once more, as his point to find answers was proven.

"I'm going!", pulling out of his chair, "I'll find my own way out", aware that the butler was still working so he did not wish to disturb him as he bursted out the door and back the way he came until he was out of there, and now on the hunt for Dahlia, as he got his phone out again, "Hey..", "No time Beks. Remember what I said earlier on about us having a problem, we have a big one. I need you and your team down to the park near the Emmessy state on the double. I don't suppose you got anything out your dad?", "No nothing I'm afraid but me and the guys are on our way, just don't do anything stupid", "I didn't quite catch that, think signal's gone", before he turned the phone off.

By now he was running towards the park area while making one more phone call, "How might I be of service young master?", "Jasper, I need you to get father down to the Emmessy house now. If he asks why, just say its from me and that if he don't, I'm going to start making some noise, because I truly don't know how long I can keep this up for", before turning his phone off and putting it away, while at the same time pulling out his gun as he closed in the area which Dahlia said, before seeing one of the guys appear infront of him who he then shot, before taking hold of a branch and pulling himself up to hide himself for the moment as another of the guys had come to check their fallen comrade, before Julian swung back down and knocked him unconscious and grabbed his gun, just incase he ran out of ammo.

With the place clear for the moment, so he begun to move around in the direction the guys had come from since she no doubt was hiding, before he found her and immediately went to her side, crouching down to remain incognito as he spoke, "I think you've taken a flare for the dramatic to a whole new level", clearly showing sarcasm once again but only done so to try and calm himself down, before he looked her over to see if she was hurt as he asked, "You okay?".

Mr. Emmessy ignored Julien's outburst and went straight to his room. He didn't want to worry him with such matters and he wanted to tell him and his daughter at the same time, but he couldn't. Not with her being locked in her room and him asking all these questions. It was too much and he wasn't going to respond to it. He heard him leave and he let out sigh. He stayed in his room and decided to read a book to calm his nerves. He wasn't as angry as Julien, but he wasn't all that pleased with the marriage either.

Dahlia stayed silent. Afraid that if she spoke she would be found. She didn't know what was going on and she was afraid to move from her hiding spot. Julien never returned her text message so she thought that he wasn't coming. All of a sudden a gunshot rang through the air. She quickly covered her eyes and ears. She was freaking out. She wanted to go home. Dahlia regretted her decision to leave and she regretted treating Ray like trash. It's because of Ray things like this don't happen. She was mostly angry with her father at this point, but it was being buried by fear. Then someone came close to her and she flinched away. "I think you've taken a flare for the dramatic to a whole new level" She relaxed once she realized that it was Julien.

"You okay?". Dahlia could answer this question in different ways despite the fact that it was yes or no question. She wasn't okay in the fact that she was forced to be married to Julien. She wasn't okay with her father and all the bullshit he was putting her through. She was okay that Julien had come to rescue her. She wasn't okay with Drake not coming to get her. She wanted to kill him at the moment. But due to what had just happened and the situation they were in she knew exactly how to answer this. "Yes. They didn't touch me." she said. All the other stuff is well known to Julien.

She hugged him to show her gratitude. She honestly believed she was going to die out here, but here he was saving her from whoever those people were. She was grateful to have him in her life right about now. She let go of him and then wrapped her arms around herself. "How was dinner? And how did you survive?" she asked looking at him. It wasn't to break the ice or anything like that. Or even try to make conversation. She was confused to how her dad didn't murder him at the dining room table. She honestly thought they would have killed each other. But Julien was full of surprises tonight.

There was a knock on the door, but there was no answer, causing another knock and another to follow, before a voice could be heard on the other side, "Enter", as the door creaked open and an older man appeared with a bow, "Master, I just recieved a call from the Young Master, he wishes for you to make haste there at once or to use his words, he will make some noise". The man however simply grinned and begun to chuckle to himself, causing the butler to speak up once again, "He sounded quite serious over the phone, so if you will pardon me sir, I do not know how this can be a laughing matter". Even Jasper's serious face, made the face of Mr Beaumont widen even more, "Time and time again, Julien has wanted nothing to do with the family business yet now he is making threats. The boy's finally becoming a man. Lead the way", as he got up with another chuckle, before being escorted to his car with Jasper at the helm.

...

"Yes. They didn't touch me", Dahlia responded after a few moments of silence. She certainly was brave, he'd give her there, especially after the sound of gunshots and even moreso with the whole situation she found herself in, at least she weren't screaming around like an idiot so that they could find her. Now the task that remained was getting her back home, but he wasn't sure if the area was truly clear, but he was caught off guard when Dahlia had her arms round him, clearly shaken up by the whole ordeal, but clearly by his arrival it would show that he was looking out for her and that he was sincere. Afterall, she was the reason he had entered this dangerzone in the first place.

After pulling away from him, she then wrapped her arms around herself before asking, [i]"How was dinner? And how did you survive?"[/color][/b], as he smiled, "Being chased by all this guys and here you are talking about dinner. You are truly extraordinary you are", he said with a smile with his mood becoming alot cooler now, "but yeah, dinner was nice. I tried asking your dad at the end to see what all this was about but he wouldn't even throw me a penny. This whole thing frustrates me, this whole secrecy stuff not you, who would of thought it eh? us two sitting next to each other", remembering their time at college, before he took off his suit jacket and put it round her, "You must be cold in that dress, that'll warm you up, and don't worry, I don't have the lergies", giving a friendly smile, before looking round the corner but seeing nothing.

Seeing it clear for now, he then moved to sit next to her against the wall, as his head leaned against it as he spoke, "I feared something like this would happen as soon as Jasper, my butler, gave me this gun at our first meeting as he gave me a warning. I didn't think much of it until I confronted your father who said something about how you better be safe which made me wonder what he meant and then I got your text", before turning to her after speaking what has been on his mind, "I believe something big is happening and we're caught in the middle of it, I'll get us out of this I promise as I have my guys coming over which should be here shortly to brush this park with a fine toothcomb, and I'll get some answers for us too, okay?", managing a smile and holding his hand out to see if she was with him.

Dahlia wasn't so worried anymore. They were safe and Julien was looking out for her. Things were looking up for the two of them which was a shock considering they weren't supposed to like each other. Right now everything was confusing for her. She didn't know which was way was up and which way was down. She just wanted this to end. And most of all she wanted answers. She wasn't going to bother her father for answers since it seemed like he wasn't going to change his mind, but she was about to be attacked by some idiots and it probably had something to do with the marriage. That was her only demand. Answers.

"Being chased by all this guys and here you are talking about dinner. You are truly extraordinary you are", she smiled at that. If she was a normal girl she would have freaked out and got them both killed. But she takes after her mother and her mother was never a normal person. Always did things differently and liked to things her way at all times. "but yeah, dinner was nice. I tried asking your dad at the end to see what all this was about but he wouldn't even throw me a penny. This whole thing frustrates me, this whole secrecy stuff not you, who would of thought it eh? us two sitting next to each other" Dahlia nodded. She understood how he felt. They wanted to same thing, maybe he wanted just a bit more.

Then she felt a jacket over top of her. "You must be cold in that dress, that'll warm you up, and don't worry, I don't have the lergies", she accepted the jacket and pulled it tighter around herself. It should be Drake's jacket she should be wearing. But he was nowhere in sight and she hasn't heard from him in hours. She was almost tempted to throw her phone acrss the park and watch it shatter, but she needed it. "I feared something like this would happen as soon as Jasper, my butler, gave me this gun at our first meeting as he gave me a warning. I didn't think much of it until I confronted your father who said something about how you better be safe which made me wonder what he meant and then I got your text", she frowned. She never liked being the damsel in distress. She would much rather be the hero than anything else.

"I believe something big is happening and we're caught in the middle of it, I'll get us out of this I promise as I have my guys coming over which should be here shortly to brush this park with a fine toothcomb, and I'll get some answers for us too, okay?" she nodded. Dahlia leaned back against the wall. "This all happened because I was stood up. We shouldn't be in danger. I should be at home. You should be at home. Drake is such an asshole." she said all at once. She wanted to vent, but this wasn't the time or place to do it. She looked at Julien. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to put you in danger. I was meeting Drake here and he never showed up. That isn't like him. Maybe something bad happened to him because of me." she said with panic in her voice.

Dahlia was now angry and freaking out. If she finds out that these men have kidnapped or hurt her Drake they would not see the light of day. But if she finds out that she was just stood up then Drake would be digging his own grave. She took deep breaths to calm down, but at this point she was a ticking time bomb.

Dahlia certainly was getting her strength from somewhere, but she certainly seemed to be feeling a lot better now than the way she found her, but such would not last. As the saying goes, they were not out of the woods yet, because they had to get out first and of course get the answers that they both wanted. Julien also wanted to find out who was behind all this, so he'd want to go and find out exactly who he was dealing with, seeing as he was unsure how many 'men' were after her, and no doubt Dahlia was aware of how many when she was too busy running for her life and getting to safety. A wise move. Despite it all, she remained strong and even had the strength to smile, regardless of the circumstance, but such did not last for long when he sensed a panic in her tone as she spoke, "This all happened because I was stood up. We shouldn't be in danger. I should be at home. You should be at home. Drake is such an asshole" which he assumed was the guy she had feelings for, since being 'stood up' was a phrase usually used when a couple were dating, such clearly showed how hard it was for her by having feelings for one, but such feelings meant nothing when she was being forced to marry him.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to put you in danger. I was meeting Drake here and he never showed up. That isn't like him. Maybe something bad happened to him because of me". Julien wasn't quite sure if his actions would be accepted, but right now he saw her in discomfort, so when a person was discomforted, then it was best to remove that worry as he put his arm round her without a second thought, as he re-assured her, "Now don't go blaming yourself, you've done no wrong, and if something bad has happened to him, we'll get him out of it. This whole mess would have been a heck of a lot clearer if our parents actually told us what is going on, so if its anyone to blame it is them, okay? Danger however is something that will crop up in our families' line of work, hence the reason why I wanted the answers so badly before to avoid all this, but we're in this together, okay? We'll find out whose behind this, rescue Drake and then get the answers, but for now, stay close to me", as he stood up and offered his hand.

Once on the move, he looked around again, before running over to the two men he took out earlier where one was dead and one was knocked out and within minutes, a few more shadows arrived near them as Julien was examining the unconscious man to look for a sign. "Turn him over, back of the neck", said a female voice behind them. Julien looked up and smiled before turning to Dahlia, "These are my guys, your in safe hands", before turning the guy over and ripping his t-shirt at the top. "The Letiya. Doesn't this bring back memories", as Julien looked up curiously, "What you mean?", causing Beks to smile, "Thought you wanted out with all this business", as Julien sighed which said enough by itself, "The Letiya were the group that opposed my fathers' group until he joined your father which caused the Letiya to back off, but since then, the Letiya have been growing in number". "How many men you think they got in there", he asked as she replied, "No more than twenty I'd say for a kidnapping mission, half to get the target running and half hidden to spy and catch the target unaware once in distance". "We have....a hostage situation also", Julien added which made Beks smile, "Can't do anything yourself can ya", before her right hand was raised as she and a few others went in.
