a character in “Conviction”, as played by CrashQueen

Description

Image

Charlene Lapore.
What could be said about her?

A once cheerleader, now self-proclaimed 'badass bitch', Charlene (or Charlie, as she likes to be called) made her quick, dirty transformation towards the end of her junior year after a spring break vacation to New York "changed her life". Her style is something vintage-grunge, though still too disorganized to be considered one of the school's trendsetters. She's alienated herself from her old friends more-or-less, and she's more often found hanging around a contingent of marching band geeks than anything else. It's suspected that she might be sleeping with the drum major- but nothing is solid in the world of high school gossip.

She also fronts a local band, a three-piece alternative thing called "Last Stop Mulholland"

She's lined up to go to FASHION school because that's what all kids who dress like idiots try to do.

Personality:
Once a control-freak, Charlie's philosophy became 'fuck-all'. She tends to think about herself before others until she's scolded, then she becomes the most THOUGHTFUL PERSON IN THE WORLD for like a week after before becoming selfish again. Despite this, she's not as impulsive as her looks make her out to be, but even if she thinks long and hard about something, there's a good chance she'll still make the wrong decision.

She's a tad flirty, but harmless about it. She smokes cigarettes because it makes her look so cool.

Fears:
Airplanes crashing, getting hooks stuck in her eyes, and ghosts because like, she totally used to see them when she was a kid, man. It 'really messed her up'.

So begins...

Entering the building he surveyed around and looked for nearest place to plan. Dropping his rucksack, he found a sofa.

Falling down on the cushiony material Patrick smirked and let his eyes wander towards each and everyone of the girls.

There was the grunge reject Charlie, she would be a screamer that's for sure. Although he wasn't into the whole look she had going for her. Dirty blond hair with more make-up than a Hot Topic's band catalogue. He heard stories about Charlie, if he was bored enough, drugs could tempt her. Not exactly last choice, but not the best candy he seen, plus virgins had more going for them, Charlie was as much a virgin as Patrick was a saint.

On to next girl, a natraul red head, but did the carpet match the drapes. He sniggered out loud, and continued. From trip he had heard her name was Callie, and she had a lot going for her, the innocent, the naivety and the ability to shape her according to his whims. Although would it be worth it? She would need a bit of coaxing, alcohol would help a lot, but he only had so much 'supplies'. Would it be worth it, was she a screamer, or was she quietly moaning? Hmm, she seemed promising, but Christmas presents can suck.

Low and behold we had the lithe one, flexible and very fit. This one could be a lot of fun if he could use her insecurities against her, to get her to be interested in him. Although he had been fooled by skin before, and those who show a lot, well they tend to not be as good when unwrapped. One thing though, it was easy to undress her in his mind, not much left to imagination leg wise, but top wise, well that could be fun.

Now there was the fake red-head but nothing else seemed fake no sirree, infact seemed very real, and though she wore make-up the 'lil whore, that was something you had to deal with often. Now as for her look very young looking, but she had said she was 16, that was good enough for him. So really sounds worth it, now would she be a first choice or would it be best to go with another one. The younger ones often wanted boyfriends and expected them as such, but broken promises never did any harm.

And finally the actual blond, pouty lips to boot and a great bod, he knew her name as Ella from school. Unfortunately not had a real chance to try her. But as for best chance he had, she seemed the most straight forward and probably was also a screamer.

Well that was that settled, time for a celebratory drink, his holiday was sorted, sex drugs and sex again.

“Nice place,” Charlie commented as she set her bag down at the side of the couch Patrick had flopped into, surveying the cabin with a thorough walk around the living room, picking at the décor and nodding and 'mmmhmm'ing like she was an actual appraiser. “Very-ah Frank Lloyd Wright, right?”

She eyed Patrick as he studied her before she clicked her tongue. “Psh, don't stare if you're not gonna make good on it,” she taunted with a sniff, placing bejeweled hands on her hips. “Toss me a beer, Richie Rich.” She held a hand out as part of the demand.

Patrick tugged his rucksack up and threw it open declaring loudly, "I christen this place PARTY CENTRAL. May we all bathe in the nectar of the Gods." he then pulled out a two packets of beer and ripped one off for Charlie and another for himself, "Hey nerd boy put on the fucking sound system we pulled you here for!"

Sitting back he smirked and replied to Charlie, "I wonder what you look like without that make-up, less like a Hot Topic's reject I bet."

Charlie Lapore had settled in quickly, finishing the rest of her beer and popping down into the couch next to Patrick, though obviously she was miffed enough with him today to not spare him a second glance. She stared fixedly at the glass coffee table before her, making note of a small crack in the corner. Out of habit, she removed her phone from a pocket and clicked through it. As was the horror film cliché, there was no reception.
“Hnn. How the hell am I supposed to tweet shit now?”

Seeing Charlie sit back down next to him, she smiled a little, not even cruel smile just a smile. Whether he would admit this outside of his head, her and him were very similar. Highly similar, only difference was the money, usually the case wasn't it. Still he could see why he overstepped his usual banter, not that he cared, but someone he could get high with was fun.

Coughing awkwardly he simply said, "That last remark was too far, I've got some pot with me, care to share a draw?" Damn why was he being nice, well despite what he knew, but hell, he shouldn't be even this kind to girls. Then why was he?

Ripping another beer off, he popped the lid and started to drink some more, while pulling out his mobile and seeing the reception was down to two bars, not a problem really, but it certainly was strange as place did seem to have electricity.

“Maybe later, Pat.” Charlie responded, helping herself to a second beer as she watched Stefan totter over to the window. The kid had always been the quiet sort, and frankly, Charlie was hesitant to talk to him, for fear of pulling him out of some important reverie. So she drank the new beer, having no trouble in keeping up with the rich boy to her right. “Too far? Feh, hon if you go too far you'll know it because you'll have my foot up your ass.”

She laughed good-naturedly, turning around on the couch so her knees were on the cushions as she turned to watch Stefan be a wallflower. “Come socialize, Stef-” she started. “To be disgustingly cliche, we won't bite.”

Nodding he tried to reason to himself, this was over years ago, and things had changed so much, but something about her. Maybe it was fact she didn't really care about anything much, seeing her scowl at phone, he pulled out his own and offered it, "It's got some reception. Tell anyone I was nice though and..." He couldn't even finish threat.

Sighing he took another long sip and laughed a little, it was a holiday, it was time to have fun not mope over the past. Not mope over certain events, how things broke and why. No it was time to sit back drink illegally and get high.

Get a hold of yourself Patrick, the past is just that the past.

Although he could still remember, blood, blood and shattered glass.

“Gabe invited me,” she responded. “We have a few classes together and I suppose we're acquaintances. Maybe I just look like fun to vacation with. Maybe he likes my band. I don't know, and I don't care. I'm just happy to get out of town for a while. Did Gabe invite you too?”

She looked over to Patrick and back to Stefan. “Pat's an ass, sure- but he's a little bitch in the right situation ain't that right?” She reached behind her and gave the rich boy a playful cheek pinch. “Thanks for the phone offer. I think I'll live with being off the grid for a few days at least.”

A splash indicated that people were in the pool. “Looks like they've started without us.” She seemed a little put out. She rose to her feet. “Well that ain't happening. Not on my watch. Bitches.”
To the bedroom to put on something bathing suity!

Ella sat in the car while everyone else got out and went right in side. She still felt uneasy but she knew she had to get out because of that weird feeling in the car..it was almost like she wasn't alone. Quickly she got out, pulling her bag with her and all but ran to the house but she stopped at the door a pout setting on her lips before she spoke. "Well.. I'm not rooming with you. " she stated pointing at Patrick before crossing her arm's over her chest and leaning on the side of the door. "In fact i think i'll room with one of the girls, their all less likely to molest me in the middle of the night." she said glancing around the room. So far Ella had gathered that Patrick was the horny prick out of the group, and really she wasn't all sure if she could deal with him without going off on him right away.

Ashley Breeze headed into the building, feeling quite dizzy. That had a been a...strange journey. She looked around the room. Of course, that asshole Patrick had already jumped on the sofa and was taking out a few packs of beer. "Hey nerd boy put on the fucking sound system we pulled you here for!" he yelled. Ash rolled her eyes and dragged her heavy bag in through the door.

She looked around the house, trying to find the bedroom. She slipped her bag under her bed and went to leave the room, before noticing that there was someone else in the room. She looked over at her, and remembered her name was Callie. She gave a small nod at her direction, and left the room. She slumped into a chair by the sofa. Patrick was trying to flirt with Charlie. Ash rolled her eyes and took out her phone. Two bars. She sighed. Her phone was going painfully slow.

She returned a few minutes later with her hair pulled up, clad in flipflops and her black swimdress with pink skulls. You had to cross through the living room to get to the indoor pool, after all. Charlie cast a glance at Patrick who was still on the couch, tilting her head. “C'mon, you aren't sore about the little bitch comment, are you?” She reached out and offered him a hand to pull him out of the couch.

She looked- good, despite the abundance of eyeliner. If there was one thing she still had going for her from the old days, it was a slamming body, emphasized in the cute onesie (she could have worn a two-piece, but she was still self-conscious about her stomach for no REAL reason). “Oh- wait, you're not hung up on- well you know...”

Her smile faded at the name. Jacob had been a good friend, and though it was nobody's fault but that of a drunk driver, she felt an incredible amount of guilt for his death. She said she'd changed because of New York, but she'd really changed to get away from her old self, the painful memories. It was Charlene that killed Jacob. Charlie was not her- Charlie was different- better.
“Of course, but you can't change the past. You know that, Pat.” She shifted on her feet anxiously. “I- I rather not think about it, you know?” She smoothed her fingers through her hair. “Harshing my buzz, man. Lets just move on. Come swim with the others- yeah.”

She wanted to avoid any bad vibes, if she could. “Please?”

Charlie Lapore was determined to make this vacation fun, despite ghosts from her past rearing their ugly heads. She was different now, that much she made readily apparent, from her bleach-blonde hair to the cigarette she now held between her fingers as she took a shaky puff. “Hope nobody minds if I do smoke,” she announced to the poolgoers. “If it's a problem I'll take it elsewhere.”

Charlie could have been in shock. She remained quiet, frozen, cigarette dangling from her lips as the lights went out, Patrick screamed the first syllable of her name- and all she could do was stare- stare as he was killed- murdered by the hungry darkness. “F-f-f-f-fuck!” she stuttered, even as she backed away from the angry water, back towards the 'safety' of the house.
“What the fuck just- how in the he- DEAD? Why? What the FUCK did you do, Gabe?!”

She powerpuffed the first smoke to shakily prepare another. “We were supposed to reconcile- settle things....” her voice was low, trembling. She wouldn't cry. Charlie Lepore didn't show weakness like that. “How is he just dead? I'm dreaming. That's all. It's gotta be. I must've fallen asleep in the car- yeah. Yeah.”

She glanced around at the others before shaking her head. "I'll- I'm going to my room. For a bit." As long as she stayed away from the pool, she was good, right?

Charlie had her arm thrown over her eyes to hide the fact her mascara was running. Dead? Patrick was dead? She couldn't fathom it. This had to be a nightmare, a bad trip. She would wake up any minute no- A bone-chilling laugh, and suddenly she was smothered, wet, warm. She almost didn't want to open her eyes. But she forced herself to, just in time to have the creature close its mouth over hers.
“Mmmf- mmmmmf!”

Was she the next to die? She kicked and clawed at the monster, her movements slow and clumsy as she fought against the slime. She fumbled at the bedsheets, jerking her knee up to knee the creature in its- hell did it even HAVE anything? Worth a shot. She pulled her mouth free. “Oh god- oh god! Don't kill me, don't kill me!”

“Get the fuck off of me!” She snarled as she arched her back, trying to pull her way from the unwelcome fingers in the dark. “Don't TOUCH me!” She spit in its direction, though it was only a lucky guess as they were bathed in complete darkness. Not even moonlight made its way through the window. Her panic lessened as it became apparent that she wasn't being killed. So she got bold.

“You, speak. Did you- did you kill Patrick and those other people? Was that you in the pool?” She didn't expect an answer, but she would at least feel better knowing that she tried to get an explanation before she was inevitably murdered by this...thing.
“What do you want from me?”

Charlie selfishly breathed a sigh of relief. She wasn't going to die- at least not now. She shivered at the voice, and the cold, unwanted hands. A demon's plaything, that had become her lot in life, suddenly. She tried to sit up, but couldn't. She felt glued to the spot by the monster's power. His voice reverberated through her chest cavity as the growl became feral and possessive in nature. “K-keep me? What do you mean?”

The first thing she did was sit up and gag, wiping the residue off of her body, but to no avail. Charlie whimpered pathetically, sitting for a long while before she could find the strength to stand, wrapping her arms around her. Clean. She needed to get clean. She felt filthy, horribly, unforgivably filthy, because for the briefest of moments, while the demon licked and nipped at her flesh and worked its otherworldly charm- she liked it.
It was fleeting, but it was there. And she HATED herself for it. Grabbing a towel, she quietly made her way to the bathroom to sit in the shower and scrub her skin until it went red.
