Devin Lidrit

"Nerd, no. Bad-ass Techy, hell yeah!"

0 · 351 views · located in Pool

a character in “Conviction”, originally authored by Byte, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Image
[Name]: Devin Lidrit
[Age]: Eighteen
[Fears]: Coulrophobia(Fear of clowns), Dead silence, Lightning, and Needles.

[Appearance]:
Devin is a rather slim guy weighing a rough 139 pounds, short as well standing at about five feet and six inches.

[Personality]:
A rather awkward fellow with a knack for technology. Devin is bluntly branded as a shy guy, or so his appearance tells others. The actual thruth is that this techno-nerd is an outgoing guy, very cheerful and not afraid to let his voice ring. Strangers are just future acquaintances to him, whilst Devin's friends are more or less the closest thing he'll ever have to a really close group. Not that he'd ever tell you that.

As said, he's quite the tech-guy, and shows remarkable skill in fixing even the tiniest broken bits. Devin loves a good joke, mostly the ones that involve making a fool out of someone else by literally exclaiming blunt and sarcastic remarks.

Outsiders clearly view him as 'That-tech-guy', with all his beloved accessories and fancy-talking. It occasionally drags his whole personality into being branded as 'Nerd'. Which is something Devin definitely dislikes, as odd as it may be though, he has no problem if someone calls him 'Techy'. It's something he has grown accustomed to during highschool.

Ah, as long as his friends and family know who he really is, and take him for that.

[History]:
Devin has had a rather secluded past. He rarely ever befriended someone, afraid they might judge his odd hobbies, or even personality. His parents were rarely, ever home, too busy with their oh-so-important jobs, and completely fogetting they had a kid waiting for his parents to greet him with joy. Everything changed in High School though, he slowly but surely made some friends, and joined a close group he occasionally talked with. Devin grew more open, and rather swapped his secluded personality with a more cheerful one. Joking, laughing, and endless fun so to speak. Hell, it'd prove to be even more joy as he joins his friends on a long deserved trip...

So begins...

Patrick tugged his rucksack up and threw it open declaring loudly, "I christen this place PARTY CENTRAL. May we all bathe in the nectar of the Gods." he then pulled out a two packets of beer and ripped one off for Charlie and another for himself, "Hey nerd boy put on the fucking sound system we pulled you here for!"

Sitting back he smirked and replied to Charlie, "I wonder what you look like without that make-up, less like a Hot Topic's reject I bet."

Upon entering the cabin, Devin had already made a few back and foths to carry 'certain' accessories into the building. Hey, a tech guy can't go without his beloved technology! Still, he couldn't help but pause a moment in his virtual world, to admire the nice, comforting cabin.

"Neat. Now, where could I drop my gear?" The tech asked, as always he'd be the one asking such things first...

Devin shrugged lightly, just tossing said bag of gear in the hallway and take a seat on a free couch spot. He glanced at each of member of the friend group, well the ones he knew actually.

Ehh, always that hectic when you first arrive. No time to relax at all. Ah, Devin enjoyed the many noises, really made him feel homely. "Ah, I'll just grab whatever bedroom is left." The tech lightly shrugged as he rose up from the one-minute-rest and tried his best to not get into a giant mess with the others, by securing his bags safely on his person.

"Hey nerd boy put on the fucking sound system we pulled you here for!"

That much hated label. Hmm, wouldn't surprise Devin from someone he didn't really know that well. What was his name, Pete, Pat, Patrick? Something along those lines. "I was pulled here for a good time, not to work as your slave. And I suggest you call me Devin, I despise the 'Nerd' thing." Devin frustratedly glared at the jerk. He would've installed it anyway, would it not be for this annoying jack-ass to bump in and call the techy lame names. He turned his back to the guy, focussing his mind on installing the sound system and make it operational for some sweet ass music.

“I look like yer fuckin' mom is what.” Charlie scoffed as she cracked open the beer and took a sip, re-shouldering her bag and calling over to Gabe, who'd organized this whole mess and was kind enough to invite her, though she wasn't really sure why. She appreciated the gesture, it was nice to get out of that humdrum town they called home. She had wanted city lights and urban trendspotting- but she supposed a fancy cabin in the middle of bumfuck nowhere would have to do.
“So how's the room situation go, slumber party or is this a co-ed affair? And secondly who wants to room with me. I promise I keep my shit to my half and I won't go through your stuff.”

Without waiting for an answer, she clicked her way down the hallway where the bedrooms were and selected the first one that didn't already have somebody's bags in it before dumping her stuff onto the bed. She'd let Fate determine who her roomie would be. It was more fun that way, she thought. Throw caution to the wind. Maybe she'd actually make some new friends. She didn't know this group of people all that well.

Devin's sound equipment immediately caught her attention upon her return, the beer still grasped in her ringed fingers. “Ah, don't worry about it. Nerds are the best. Devin you said? Call me Charlie.”

She nodded at everybody else. “Because I didn't do much introducing in the car. I am a little scatterbrained like that- ya know?”

Devin sighed, a frustrated tone leaving his lips. "Well, at least you are ready and set to go." He patted the sound system on its head, tuning in for soft music as he pondered on what to do. The tech thought socializing would be one of the better options, and such he glared around the cabin in search for someone to get acquainted with.

Everyone seemed to have left though...

In one of the bedrooms, he spotted the silent girl. The one who had annoyingly been fiddling about with the car window. "Ah, I thought everyone had left me to do their dirty work. So nice to know that I am not the only one in-doors.

No response. "Hey? Don't tell me you're ignoring me as well..." Devin sighed, slowly approaching Callie. "Hey, something wrong?" The tech boy poked the girl's shoulder, trying a physical manner of getting her attention.

Ah, that explained why she didn't at all react to his chatter. Devin tried to figure out how to talk with this girl then. Or wasn't it deaf, deaf? But more like, partially deaf-ish? "Sorry, I didn't know that." The tech boy awkwardly tried to explain what he said with weird hand movements. He never spoke to a person who was deaf before. "I thought, since it seems we are the only ones in-doors. We could... Chat? A bit, maybe?" Devin laughed nervously, scratching the back of his head with his left hand.

Devin couldn't help but feel extremely awkward. "Ah, I see. It's just that... Never mind. I'm Devin, pleased to meet you Callie." The Tech buy gave the girl a smile of his own, shaking her hand as he did so. "So you like it, here?" Devin asked, pondering on what he should even say. Although his question was rather cheerful and confident in tone, it was difficult for him to get a simple chat started.

Devin turned around, Noting Stef in the background. "Al right, we'll be there." He turned to Callie, offering his hand to help her stand up. "We are asked to all gather at the pool it seems." He gave Callie another one of his soft smiles.

Devin walked outside to the pool, watching as everyone seemed to have gathered and witness Callie wave to who he thought was Andy then. Devin just leaned against the cabin wall near the pool, waiting for wahtever reason he was pulled here.

Devin watched in fear as something unspeakable happened. At that one moment, when Patrick jumped into the pool... "What the actual, flying fuck!" The tech boy yelled out after minutes of idle glaring. Shocked, scared, confused.

He just... What the hell happened? He wondered in a panic. His breath became more heavy with each passing second, unable to speak another word before Gabe spoke the words. "They're dead." Devin just gasped, finally realising that death was what happened. "Yeah, no fucking shit Sherlock."

They needed to get away, quickly. Whatever killed those people, it was bad news, very bad. The techno-nerd pressed with both hands on either side of his head. He needed to calm... Clear his mind, if only it was that easy. Odds were he wasn't the only one who was in shock...

Devin snapped out of his panic-pondering, hesitating not a second to run over to Stefan, and help the poor guy on his feet. "Let's go. This shit ain't safe." He just glared with a shocked expression at Gabe. "Just make sure you get inside as well! I won't close the door otherwise!" Even if his friend meant well, nothing, and he meant nothing would make him close that door until everyone was safe and sound inbetween these four walls.

The tech boy made a run for it, carrying Stefan as he slung the guy's arm over his own shoulder. Once inside, Devin gently dropped Stefan on the couch, immediately making his way towards the entrance of the pool. "Gabe, I am going to-" Did the pool just roar? What the shit was going on...? "Gabe! Get the hell inside, now!"
