Full Name: Alistair William Talsworth *shudder* Don’t make me say it again.

Nicknames: Ali. Prounced like ‘alley.’ Or if I’m feeling really dramatic, Stormlord is rockin’.

Age: 18. Yes, ladies, you heard me right.

Hometown: The mean, dirty streets of... New Jersey. Okay, okay, I’m white trash. Hater.

Ethnicity Dactylos says my family was Greek originally, but that was a long time ago. We’re American now.

Sexuality: Sorry, guys, I know it’s heartbreaking, but I’m all about the ladies.

Coven: I’ve always fancied myself a tall, dark, mysterious Medean... You kidding me? Puck all the way.

Specialty: Okay, let’s get the obvious out of the way: Elemental magick, namely air. Bit of the water in there too. I dunno, air spells just... make sense to me.

Aside from that, I’ve got a talent for illusion spells. I be tricksy with my smoke and mirror magicks!

Non-magick-wise, I’m an athlete, parkour, generally a guy who likes to run, jump and climb. I’ve gotten pretty good at it. I’m strong, fast and agile, great hand-eye coordination, generally know my way around the gym. I ain’t one of those roid-monkey bodybuilders, though. That’s just gross.

I’m a good singer, too, and guitarist. I picked it up in school to impress girls. Totally works, and I have a natural singing voice. Guitar, less natural, but that just takes some work.

Abilities: Okay, Ali, like you rehearsed it...

Elemental power: Dactylos always told me there’s great power in my blood, hidden away and waiting for me to find it. He’s right. Though I’ve only started to unlock it, I already have some power over the air around me, and I can create manifestations around me of weather phenomena. Clouds, rain, all on a smaller scale of course. The most powerful thing I can do is a small bolt of lightning.

Flight: More like an extension of the above, it nevertheless warrants mentioning that among my most recently-mastered abilities is self-propelled flight. It requires significant concentration and isn’t very useful in a fluid situation where I need to react quickly, but I can bring as much as one more person with me, as long as they’re not too heavy.

Elemental resistance: This is something of a misnomer, as I am not resistant to all elements or even most of them. However, anything relating to weather, to the sky or to air in general simply doesn't harm me. Lightning, for example, feels fairly pleasant. My clothes, however, cannot say the same.

Spirits of Air and Sky: I can see, hear and speak with spirits of the air, or of weather phenomena like rain. Especially storms. I know their language and I can ask favors or barter with them. Spirits of wind in particular often come to me with rumors or gossip. They can’t always be trusted, though: Occasionally they make things up or give me a garbled version. Sometimes even on purpose.

Weather manipulation: This is purely theoretical. Right now I’m able to barter with weather spirits and sometimes they shift the weather for me, but Dactylos says one day I won’t have to, when I’ve unlocked my true power. Right now I can’t even clear up a rain without help, or at least an actual spell.

Familiar And here we come to the enigmatic Dactylos. I’m sure you’ve been wondering after the last few paragraphs. He is a majestic eagle, the symbol of Zeus, and incidentally a US symbol… Neither of which he’ll let you forget. He’s got an ego like a mountain and he’s about as friendly. Didn’t even know birds could have a pole up the ass before I met him. But I guess he’s okay really. He’ll never let you know it, but he’s weawwy just a big ow’ softy ohshithe’scomingthiswayRUN!

Personality: I am awesome. This is fact. I am the most awesome life form of awesomeness to ever grace the world with his awesomeness. Awesomely.

OW! Okay, fine, sticking to the facts. So yeah, I’m a pretty laid-back guy. Friendly, easygoing, outgoing, funny, generally a great guy. And I’m loyal, too. You wouldn’t think it to look at me, but in my heart there’s nothing so important as a true friend- *Snrkk* Okay, I can’t say that with a straight face, but I swear it’s true.

I guess I should mention I have a… dark side, too. Kind of a temper. Oh, not that I get angry easy, I can take a lot before I get angry. But when I decide I really don’t like someone, hoo boy. My last grudge lasted a year and a half, and then the guy moved to Phoenix. Some people think I also have an ego, but they’re just jealous. I will admit that I may have... some trouble taking things seriously. Depending on your perspective, of course.

One last little note: I like my freedoms. I am not amused when people try and hold me down with silly rules or laws or stuff. And especially not with stupid traditions and expectations. Your expectations can kiss my beautiful ass!

Likes: Me; physical activity; hot girls; jokes (practical or otherwise); snark; laughing; friends; hanging out; the outdoors; ‘bad’ weather; freedom; music.

Dislikes: People who can’t take a joke; downers; staying indoors too long; rules; traditions; being told what I should be; outright jerks; bullies; spiders; reading.

History: Ugh, I am so bad at storytime. How about I just answer the questions?

What was your childhood like?

Spoiler alert! Remember when I said I was white trash? That may have been a slight inaccuracy. I’m white as a pre-2008 president, but my family actually owns a large, successful and influential shipping company. I’m basically loaded. Shh! Don’t tell anyone. I was raised with the understanding that I would be inheriting that company, running it, et cetera. I hated every minute.

Now, my parents aren’t bad folks. A lot of parents with big business jobs can’t find time for their kids, mine made time. They were very supportive. But they piled a lot of expectations on me from an early age, and I did not take it well. I started running with some kids my own age, pretending I was poor and stuff so they wouldn’t treat me different. The habit stuck.

Did you always know you could use Magick?

Fast-forward a bit, here, to when Dactylos found me. Now I’ll skip the long, complicated story of how it came to happen, but I found out one of my really distant yet direct father-to-son ancestors back a long ways is the actual storm god Zeus from Greek mythology. Oh, and lord of the universe, all that bunk, I didn’t get any of that passed down. Just the storm stuff. Go figure. Anyway, he (Dactylos, not Zeus) has been teaching me for a couple of years now.

Can your family?

And that was shocker number two: Yes. In fact they knew about this whole thing. Another little expectation they had on my shoulders was that I’d be learning magic. Why, I don’t know, since I can’t remember them ever using theirs.

How'd you find out about the school?

Compared to the first two surprises I got that day, this one was pretty tame: In a couple of years’ time (now) I’d be going to a school where I would learn to control my magic. I mean magick- Magyck? Bah. I hate spelling. Everyone else would be told I’m going to a ‘very exclusive, private boarding school.’ Guess that’s true, actually.

How'd you react when you were put into your Coven?

I actually have this one written down:

“So, lemme get this straight,” Alistair said slowly, as if to make sure he had all the facts. “There is a house for people who have elementally-oriented abilities and magickal leanings that not only has strong connections to nature and the outdoors, but also has a reputation as the free-spirited, easygoing, funny guys around campus. Am I about right?”

The teacher across from him nodded. “It’s called a coven, but essentially, yes.”

Ali nodded back for a moment, then slapped his palms down loudly on the desk between them. “I demand to sign up for this coven!”

Momentarily baffled, the teacher could only respond “You’ve already been assigned to it.”

Ali paused for several seconds. Then he slapped his palms down on the desk again. “I demand to sign up for it anyway!”

Other: Now which is the more awesome use of my abilities: Shooting lightning or flipping skirts? Choices… choices…

So begins...

ALISTAIR WILLIAM TALSWORTH

A backpack and a gym bag dropped next to a tree on the edge of the courtyard, and a young man - maybe seventeen, eighteen - with short, dark brown hair, fair skin, a toned physique and a carefree smile leaned against it, looking out at the school. "So this is the academy," he remarked to no one in particular. "Love the decor, very nature-chic." He had no idea at all if that was a real term or even sounded like one, but it really did have a 'natural' feel to it. Much more so than any other school he'd seen, though that wasn't exactly a huge selection. Most of the time a campus had a park and some trees scattered around for that fresh, green feel. Here? They were in the middle of a forest. Didn't get much greener than that.

Alistair William Talsworth (who shuddered a little every time he heard his full name - partly because it meant trouble, but also because it was just so damn stuffy) looked out at the grounds for a while longer, then picked up his bags again, chose a building at random and started walking. Technically he was supposed to be dropping off his stuff at the Puck coven building, but frankly he had no idea where that was, so he figured he'd just keep trying places until he found it. No need to hurry - plenty of sunlight left in the day.

And that was how he ended up walking straight into the middle of the arena as it was being prepped for combat.

After several moments of irritable searching Ali had finally extracted from his backpack what he should have had from the start: A small pamphlet containing a map of the grounds. There. Now he should be able to find any place he pleased. And he could avoid another unicorn fiasco. How was he supposed to know that flower place was a sacred grove? He just got here. Weren't those things only supposed to appear for maidens, anyway? He was just unfolding the map when a familiar screeching, cawing sound reached him. He didn't even need to look up: Only one bird could screech with that much dignity, and sure enough the massive eagle Dactylos landed on top of a nearby building, staring down at him judgementally. "Lost, little one?" He asked in the language of the air spirits.

"I am not lost," Ali grumbled back in English. Dactylos couldn't form the words, but he understood English perfectly. That and ancient Greek, modern Greek, Arabic, Latin and, for some reason, Russian. He'd never said when he picked that up. "I don't get lost. I'm taking the scenic route. Not everyone gets to see a unicorn, y'know." Not that he'd had much of a chance to take in the glory, as it kept pointing that horn at him.

"The scenic route," Dactylos repeated, cocking his head. "Is that why you visited the kitchens twice during your 'tour'?" He was no longer even attempting to not sound condescending.

"I was hungry," the teenager growled through gritted teeth. "And they had a pizza. It was delicious and filling and you can't have any." He actually hadn't gotten anything at the kitchens, they'd just shooed him out. And very rudely the second time, too. It was an honest mistake, he just hadn't really been looking where he was going. "Besides," he added, waving the folded map, "I have a map now. I'll be there in no time."

"So, you were lost."

"You get lost!"

If it was possible for an eagle to shrug, the world may never know, but Dactylos certainly gave it his best shot. "Fine," he said calmly. "I'm sure your map will lead you to the Puck coven dormitories. I was going to help, but since you clearly don't need me I'll just go hunt." And without another word he took off majestically into the air like the big, feathery showoff he was.

"Pff, good riddance," Ali muttered to himself, unfolding the map at last. "Alright... That's the big tree in the middle, there's the kitchen..." He pondered this for a while, wondering if maybe he should've learned to read maps at some point in his life, but it seemed straightforward enough. "Dorms should be right over... there." Feeling rather pleased with himself, he folded the map, hitched up his bags and walked off toward a nearby, collosseum-like building, either missing or ignoring the sign that said 'ARENA' in big, fancy letters. He pushed open the doors and strode into the central area, which finally stopped him because it didn't look at all like a dorm house. In fact it looked like a sports field.

Seeing that there were people on the field, he raised his free hand tentatively asked "Uh, 'scuse me, new guy. Where exactly is this?"

“You are not giving me much or a choice.... But, as much as I would love that. I can't. I'm so sorry, but, I told Ethan I would help him set up for his party.”

Atreyu pouted, hoping to sway her decision. Ethan was an alright guy, but all of a sudden, the Native American was feeling pretty selfish. And why not? Amarina was his girlfriend now. And forever. He wanted to spend their first day of being together with her and only her. When she started speaking again, he gave her his full attention.

”I get that you don't want anything or anyone, especially Divinia to ruin our first night together or to hurt me but, how about I make you a deal. We spend an hour or two at the party then we can leave and have the really sweet and romantic date. Ok? I promise. By the way, we should get back.”

He smiled down at her and stole yet another passionate kiss, holding onto the one that she had leaned up to give him. He couldn't help but to kiss and hold her so much! He wanted to be with her so long. For two years he had been longing to kiss her, hold her close, stroke her cheek, be with her. He grabbed her by the waist and picked her up, using his hands to guide her legs to wrap around his waist before moving them to her back. Her shirt was already see-through from being pressed against his sweaty body. He kissed her again and again, each kiss more hungry than the last as two years of bottled up love for her began to pour out of him. He muttered in between kisses that would fall to her lips, cheek, and neck. “Whatever you want, my love. As long as we're together.” He couldn't wait for tonight! Sex wasn't on the menu, but lots of kissing and cuddling was. By now, he had her in his lap. He had become overwhelmed and weak-kneed, holding her close. He had stopped kissing her when he sat down, instead holding her against him and listening to their hearts beating. Almost as one. A light smile graced his face as he closed his eyes. “I love you so much.” He felt like this was all just a dream – As though he'd wake up in the middle of Professor MacLean's class and see Amarina sitting next to him as usual, looking at him funny. But...It wasn't a dream. His dreams were reality now. He simply held her now, stroking her gently from her ankles up to her ass. He grinned and gave her butt a squeeze before resting them on her thighs. “Though – I thought that we didn't have any classes today?” He had heard that Professor Guarini's had canceled his classes for the day so that he could prepare the Arena. Professor Romanov had also canceled her classes so that the Merlinites and Medeans that had her class could prepare for the Trials. He shrugged and let Amarina make the call, kissing her neck.

It was his first day at a new school – But this school was so much different that any other school in the world. A young man with striking blue eyes and golden blonde hair was wandering around the halls and rooms of the large Academy. He was wearing a suit that was obviously expensive and obviously Gucci. DeAngelo was a bit excited, though it didn't show in his eyes as he lugged his violin case and duffel bag. He had people take things ahead to his designated room – He wanted to explore some, but he wouldn't let anyone touch certain things of his. Running his fingers through his hair, he turned a few corners before spotting a girl that was...crying? She had a violin as well, which piqued his interest. He moved closer to the girl with jet black hair. She had two ravens sitting on her shoulder that also piqued his interest. He himself had a black rattlesnake that was exceptionally long curled around his neck, canting its own head to its side. The snake slithered down and made its way to the girl. Coiling near her feet, he poked out his tongue and hissed. What's wrong with the brat? DeAngelo wasn't like the kids in Puck who could understand animals, but like all the other kids here, he could understand his personal Familiars. “I dunno – Why don't I ask?” Kneeling down, he also set down his violin case and duffel bag before taking a better look at the girl – Or what he could see of her – She was cute. Adorable even. But she had a strange weirdness about her that attracted him...This must be Sunday that his sister kept telling him about. “Hey – Are you alright, Sunday? I'm DeAngelo Pagliarelli....Divinia's little brother.”

As Pippa's petite hands reached under her shirt and her lips littered Div with kisses, Div pressed closer to her and returned the soft, affectionate nibbles. One hand snaked underneath the pale woman's shirt, grasping her breasts shamelessly. “Babysitting? No. Just making sure that he doesn't kill anyone.” She chuckled as her hand moved from under Pippa's shirt to one upon her ass and the other grabbing her by the hair. She tugged and squeezed as though ready to throw her on the ground and have her way with her best friend, biting on her neck. “I've told you that he has a short fuse, my love.” She moved her lips up and purred into her lovely one's ear before nipping her earlobe. She enjoyed being so roughly affectionate with Pippa – Especially with others watching. She briefly recalled a rather exciting night that involved herself, Pippa, Professor Guarini, and Professor Romanov. All just so she would pass her Elemental Magick test. She groaned and moaned into Pippa's ear, letting her hands now roam freely, caressing and squeezing her luscious curves. “Do this for me and tonight will be a night that you won't soon forget.” She promised Pippa, stealing another kiss. “Deal?” She could hear Sunday crying and her brother DeAngelo approaching her. But she didn't bother – Her attention was on her Porcelain Queen right now.

The other half of the Pagliarelli twins was headed towards the Arena with a woman on his arm. A woman with brown hair that went all the way to the ground, done in a nice braid. Drago was chatting amiably with Professor Romanov as she escorted him to the Arena. He looked older than his brother and actually looked like he was about twenty-four years old. He was tall and muscular, very well built. He looked like he could bench press a truck...Which he could, really. Sasha was admiring the fine threads of his Gucci suit while he commented on her 'Tinkerbell' dress. She had her hair decorated with flowers and feathers of all sorts. Following behind them was a creature that looked like a Sawsbuck in Fall, a white King Cobra coiled around his antlers, and what appeared to be an eagle perched upon his head. What a strange troupe they were, indeed! Both of the blue-eyed beauties finally made their way into the Arena just as Alistair spoke. ”Uh, 'scuse me, new guy. Where exactly is this?” Sasha spoke up before Drago did, a smile on her face as 'Big Daddy' as she called her Roc, flapped his wings to land atop her head. “This is the Arena, Mister Alistair William Talsworth. Hey! I'm Professor Romanov – Your Mentor and Professor for Familiar Work and Elemental Magick. Now then – Unless you're here to put in a personal request to join Circe Coven, you really needn't be here. In fact, you're not supposed to be here right now. At all. Though – I'm going to be here for a quick minute to speak with Professor Guarini. Though he's not going to want you here – Hrutao can show you anywhere you need to go.” She smiled politely as Drago tipped the boy a two-fingered salute before sauntering up alongside Clarity, having grabbed the white cobra that was now curled around his massive bicep like arm jewelry. Sasha moved behind him and remained silent, rocking back and forth on her heels. The Sawsbuck-looking creature stood before Alistair with his head raised proudly. “Come with me.” He then turned to leave, making sure to walk slowly so that Alistair could keep up.

Ali was just wondering about all the people lining up on opposite sides of the big, big sports field (or whatever the place was) when one of them started talking. Something about 'arena' and 'covens' and 'beat the other team with a big stick' (he may have filled in a few blanks when he couldn't quite hear). Most interesting was the part about thinking of a place one of them knew very well, like the back of his hand if at all possible. And no sooner had he finished saying it than the arena began to shift. Trees sprouted from the ground and grew faster than water and baking soda, the earth changed color to a kind of rich brown, suddenly strewn with fallen twigs and leaves, and he had to stumble back quickly as one tree nearly grew right under his feet. He could hear what sounded like running water in the distance. "This is officially awesome," he muttered to himself.

It was only then that he heard his name called out from nearby. His full name. He winced a bit, turning quickly and expecting trouble, but what he found was... well, if that was trouble he'd have to get in trouble more often. A ridonkulously hot woman was walking his way, introducing herself as Professor Romanov, and what's more she'd be his mentor. Also professor for some things, but 'your mentor' sounded a lot more interesting to him. Hadn't he heard that all the covens had a mentor? And his was a supermodel who by the way seemed totally nice too? Maybe Zeus really was looking out for him... He snapped his head back down from the clouds in time to hear the rest of her greeting. Okay, this was an arena. Cool. He wasn't supposed to be here. Normally that would be incentive to stay and watch, but in his experience you didn't earn a hot teacher's love by ignoring her.

He chose to ignore the fact that she was arm-in-arm with his rival, whom he'd never seen before in his life.

Prof. Romanov rounded up by telling him to follow Hrutao, who apparently was the bigass stag, to where he needed to go. That was fine by him - she didn't accuse him of being lost (guys don't get lost) and he didn't have to admit it. Plus she pretty quickly vanished in the sudden forest, which by the way was still awesome. For those still counting. He picked up his gym bag loaded mostly with clothes and followed Hrutao out, silently at first. Then the silence began to get to him. Ali was not a man for awkward silences. "So," he said conversastionally, "Hrutao, is it? Y'know, I haven't seen many stags in my time, but I have to say you look exceptionally majestic. How do you get that sheen to your coat?" He also looked like a Pokemon he'd seen on TV once, but he wasn't stupid enough to say that out loud. Mostly he just figured, animal or human, anyone who looks good is particular about his/her/its appearance. Just look at Dactylos - his feathers were all sleek and shiny, and he thought he was the greatest thing since the invention of air.

Before the stag had a chance to answer his question, Ali spotted a kitten - the cutest little thing!... If strangely familiar - that seemed to be headed on a crash trajectory with Hrutao's hooves. "Hold that thought," he said, sticking his arms out in front of the buck to keep him from trampling an unfortunate kitten. He was pretty sure killing kittens was a capitol offense in first-world countries. And if not, then it should be because kittens are cute and adorable and harmless and... and...

At that point his train of thought jumped the rails, crashed into a mountain and exploded as the cat's owner came and scooped it up. Now, normally Ali wasn't one to be rendered speechless by a pretty girl (and the kitten girl really was very pretty) but it did occasionally happen in extenuating circumstances, such as if the girl was Ever Daniels, his ex-girlfriend from not that long ago who'd had to leave town (supposedly not an uncommon occurrence for her) after about a month of dating. She did mention going to study in Washington, now he thought about it... Wow, what were the odds?

"Zeus and his beard," he muttered, just as surprised as she was. "Ever? This is where you went to study?" A big, dopey grin broke out on his face. "No way!" He paused just long enough to add courteously to Hrutao "Sorry, bit of a reunion thing, one minute," then stepped around him to embrace Ever. More of a friendly 'good-to-see-you' hug than like a boyfriend hug. "Can't believe this, how you been, girl?"

Ooh... magicky. Of course he did magick stuff too, but that was more elemental. He mostly ignored the melatonin thing, since he had no idea what that was. Sounded like a type of shampoo. "Ah, y'know," he said, shrugging it off as nothing. "Found out I was movin' too, just a few weeks back. Man, no one tells me these things. I spent most of the time figuring out what I was gonna bring, sayin' some teary goodbyes - not teary for me, obviously, I never cry, but my fans were heartbroken." He gave a heavy, overdramatic sigh. "Oh, how I wish I could have told them where I was going... C'est la vie..."

He stared wistfully into nothing for a moment, then grinned again. "So yeah, there was some packing, way too much advice from my dad, he's like an alumnus or something, had to cancel like a week's worth of dates- Don't look at me like that, you'd been gone like a month." In point of fact she hadn't necessarily looked at him like anything, but it was sort of a knee-jerk reaction. Tell your ex you've been dating, have explanation ready. "Anyway, just the usual moving stuff. I know you've done all that a dozen times, right?"

For obvious reasons he'd never mentioned being the descendant of Zeus to her. For reasons that were also obvious to him, he kept being rich out of it too. Well, his parents were rich, he just got pocket money... two weeks' worth of which could buy an XBox 360 and a bagful of games. So yeah, not something to talk about. Now might be a good time to reveal one of the two secrets, though. "And that basically brings us here. Hrutao's showing me to my dorm. Coven. Whatever."

Aedan frowned slightly when he saw Ever hug a guy from a distance. He trusted his girlfriend and bestie, of course, but he didn't know who that guy was. He couldn't recognize him. He glanced at Patty and grinned at the dog, "Keep an eye on Ev, will you boy?"

The dog cocked his head.

"Fine... I want to know who that new guy is, alright," he told him and the dog woofed in affirmitive before running off in Ever's direction. When his master's mate, he grinned wolfishly and sniffed at Alistair before turning to Ever and licking her hand and sniffing at Muppet. He whined. He was hoping that Muppet would be awake and be able to tell him about this guy or maybe play a little more. He looked at Ever questioningly as if to say, Are you going to introduce us?

Earlier today Ali had had a brief argument with an eagle in the language spoken by the wind about how he was totally not lost. Just now he was being lead around by a stag. So when Ever talked to the dog like it could understand English perfectly, he found himself easily able to believe it could. Wait, he, not it. Totally rude, that. "Call me Ali," he said casually, pronouncing it like 'alley.' He extended his hand to Patty, palm out, in case he wanted to sniff or something. "Ev and I were just catching up." He'd address the 'old friend' comment later.

For now, he looked back at Ever, still smiling a bit. He was usually smiling at least a little, he only really stopped when he was either acting or really mad. "So alchemy: That's like on that anime, right? With the badass walking armor guy. If my laptop breaks, does that mean you can fix it with one of those circles like that radio?" He paused thoughtfully. "Or is it more like lead into gold?" He grinned the grin of one plotting vast money gains. "That would be totally sweet, you'd be rich in like a week.

"I'm descended from Zeus," he added, making it sound almost like an afterthought. Nothing interesting, just answering the question, not really worth mentioning on its own.

Ali's grin widened. Feigned nonchalance aside, there was nothing he liked so much as to show off. "Oh, since you insist," he said, contriving to make it sound like a chore. He dropped the gym bag to free up his other hand and, without so much as looking at her, made a simple upwards gesture that caused a rush of wind up from under Ever's feet, the kind he used to flip skirts. It only lasted a few seconds but it was great to get that windblown look to your hair. Of course it might be hard to explain why it had been blown upwards, but this was a magic school. Why wouldn't it be?

"And that's not all, folks," he remarked when the wind ended, just waiting for an excuse to try out the next in his line of incredible showoff effects.

This was not the first time the sheer coolness of his magick had saved Ali's life. Well, okay, that was overdramatic - spared him a nasty kicking anyway. He took refuge in audacity. And speaking of which, he had another demonstration to give. He gestured out the window, directing her to look at a nearby pair of students walking by, minding their own business. With another, more drawn-out gesture, a small cloud began to materialize over their heads.

Before they could question the sudden drop in sunlight, a twist of the wrist and dip of the fingers saw flakes of fluffy, white snow dropping from the cloud and onto their heads. For a while they seemed quite amused by what was obviously a magickal display, but then the snow began to fall in greater and greater quantities until they were forced to run to avoid being buried alive in unseasonal chill. Ali snickered and banished the cloud. "It's not all indoor-friendly," he admitted. "But I'm saving the coolest part for when I need it. Call it the ace of storms up my sleeve."

"Ow!" Okay, he wasn't expecting her to hit him. Maybe there was such a thing as too much audacity... Nah. Must be bad luck or something. And, as it turned out, not all bad, as she apparently hadn't meant to hit him that hard. Clearly overcome with remorse, she had begun to massage the point of impact, possibly as a prelude to some kind of offer of recompense. Like dinner. Oh, wait, she has a boyfriend... Dammit! Apparently she remembered that too just then, because she withdrew her hand, looking sheepish.

Well, he couldn't let the dog spy go telling her boyfriend he was a wuss. So, instead of playing for sympathy, he brushed off the (slightly) hurt spot like he'd got a bit of dust on it and said "Ah, it's nothing. Guess I shouldn't snow on someone not even wearing a jacket... I'll go apologize or something later, yeah?" Damage successfully controlled. Now for a change of subject. "Hey, I could show off my bag of tricks all day, but how about you? Gonna show me some of those alchemy tricks?"

Now they were outside, Ali grinned wickedly. "Well," he said for a second time that day, "since you insist..." He extended the hand with the symbol on it, spread his fingers wide and began to focus, muttering in the language of air - not as part of the spell, just to help him get into the right mindset. Around him the wind picked up, ruffling hair and clothes. He'd done twisters before. Little ones, usually, tossing up sticks and leaves and twirling them around, easy really. If he applied himself he could do some real damage. With a boost like this he wasn't sure what the limits were, but he was about to find...

Wait, is this really a good idea? He paused in his muttering and the winds that had started picking up died down quickly. With little effort he could create small displays of elemental power. By actually focusing he could create a very localized gale. With this boosting him, he might actually break something. On his first day, no less. "Uh, maybe this wasn't such a great idea," he said after a few moments' thought. "I mean, not that it wouldn't be awesome and all, but there's not a lot of ways to show this off that wouldn't catch the wrong kind of attention, y'know? Not a great first impression on the teachers of I blow all the leaves off the big trees." He shrugged apologetically.

"But on the subject of stuff breaking, you wouldn't happen to know the alchemy for lightning, would you?"

"Because lightning is awesome," Ali said simply. "Do I really need a better reason?" The most impressive (and awesome) thing he could do was to fire off a small bolt of lightning. Well, 'small' was relative - compared to an actual bolt, which leaves a bigass crater, it's fairly small, but he could still flash-fry most things. So far he'd only practised it on rocks or tin cans (lightning was remarkably easy to aim - he had a target, and the lightning seemed to want to hit it) but if there were going to be arena matches, well, he'd need every possible trick up his sleeve. Including maybe a few of these alchemy signs...

"Listen, Hrutao was showing me the way to the coven dorm, and I'm pretty sure he's tired of waiting by now-" He nodded to the stag, a gesture of gratitude for his patience. It paid to make friends with the literal teacher's pet. Familiar, whatever. "-so you wanna come along? We can catch up on what's been goin' on these last few years, yeah?"

"What can I say? I'm a fun-loving guy." Ali grinned a goofy grin and hopped into a brief cartwheel to illustrate the point. He always was an athletic type of guy. Funny that the average school didn't have a stereotype for someone who owned at gym and played class clown. "When I found out there was a coven for folks who're close to nature and love to laugh, I just demanded to be put there. Then they told me they'd already assigned me to Puck, but I demanded anyway. A man's gotta have his principles, dammit!" He thumped his palm with his fist.

"So, uh... What's Medea about? I mean, word on the wind is Circe are the evil witches with the poisoned apples and Merlin has the stuck-up guys in robes, but I didn't hear much about your end. Please tell me that's not where all the hot girls went." He covered his face overdramatically. "I'd be so embarrassed transferring after all that."

"My intel needs work," Ali muttered at the revelation that Merlin was not, in fact, the snooty type. This was what he got for relying on wind spirits for info. They were great gossips, but mainly because gossip was all about getting half of it wrong and making the other half up. "So that's covens in a nutshell, but how 'bout the teachers? You've been here a while, you must know'em by now. C'mon, gimme the dirt: Who do I smile at and who do I steer clear of?"

Whenever he went somewhere new Ali tried to get a feel for the place quickly. Usually this was a process of walking around, doing whatever and seeing how people reacted, but he wouldn't turn down free advice if he could get it. He knew he was going to be spending lots of time with Prof. Romanov, partly because she was the Puck mentor and partly because she was smokin' hot, but he hadn't met any of the other teachers yet.

"Wicked," Ali remarked. "Gotta admit, I've never been to a school with teachers this... interesting. I mean, aside from one of them being a vampire and another's, what, some kind of fairy? So, to recap: H.M. MacLean, big cheese and resident cool old guy; Prof. Angelo, classic case of pole-up-the-ass syndrome; Guarini, avoid at all costs- You never said what classes he teaches." He paused. "Eh, sure I could just skip that one. Anywho, Kwan Yin, sounds pretty nice, don't talk about Angelo; and Prof. Romanov is the supermodel fairy that I get to call my mentor and make everyone jealous. That about it?"

As he spoke he was turning the whole thing over in his head. He could see Elemental Magick being high on his list of priorities, and he could probably rope Dactylos into some Familiar lessons while he was at it. He had a weakness for hotness of the female form, and they had a weakness for his. Whatever Guarini taught sounded like something he could write off as 'Don't need that!' and never look back. Hopefully. Judging by Ever's shivery reaction to the thought of him pissed off, it was safest health-wise to just be somewhere else. Besides, his blood had Zeus blood in it. He'd probably look like some kinda delicacy. Oh, the perils of being special.

What exactly Kwan Yin defined as a 'stupid boy' he'd have to find out before her next spat with Prof. Angelo. Or he could just screw up and let his mistakes guide him, since it sounded like the worst he'd get was a tongue-lashing (woah, that sounded way dirty...). That did sound more fun. As to Prof. Apollo, well, maybe he'd take a healing class sometime, maybe he wouldn't. Didn't sound like the teacher was really that bad. And as for the H.M.O.C. (Head Mofo In Charge) he sounded downright decent for an authority figure.

Ever Daniels

Ever palmed her forehead. "Professor Guarini is the Battle Magick Teacher. You'll have to meet him so when I said steer clear. I mean, Don't do anything stupid." She said with a shrug. "So Yea basically but Professor Angelo is a nice guy, Professor Kwan Yin is always riding him about something so he never catches a break." She said with a laugh. There was a pun in there somewhere, Aedan would have found it and snickered at it. "Professor Romanov isn't a fairy. She's Mother Nature." She said and was going to explain more but Professor Romanov appeared she spoke to her horse then greeted them.
Ever smiled and hugged her, in usual Ever fashion. "Hey. Professor Romanov." She said and then her smiled faded. "Dark One?!" She gasped "I waved at you, you temperamental future glue stick" She said with a frown. Of course she didn't mean it, Professor Romanov knew by now Ever had a mouth but she was relatively harmless. She took no crap from anyone, not even a horse. She rolled her eyes and her smile returned when she looked at the lovely Professor. She would have loved to have Professor Romanov as a mentor. Kwan Yin was great but Sasha was Mother Nature. Ever had Mommy issues so having her as a Mentor would have been awesome. "Yea. I know." She said, still not happy with the dark one comment but didn't let it bother her too much. "I'll show him around." She told her with a shrug. "He and I go back. " she said with a quick smile to Alistair. The Professor then disappeared into the air. Ever was used to that. "You know, As hard as it is to believe, You get use to that. It blew my mind the first time I saw her do that." She said with a laugh.

Sunday Cortez
Sunday watched as DeAngelo's snake stood up and hissed at her. Egdar and Allen cawed at the slithery beast. "Get back, Small Lady." Egdar said.
"We'll protect you, Small Lady" Allen urged. They flapped their wings manically. "Shh, Egdar, Allen." She said and DeAngelo grabbed his snake and reprimanded it. She watched curiously and grinned when he smiled and agreed to play. She sat down in the grass on her legs and listened. She closed her eyes as his music surrounded her. She sway to the haunting song. It was beautiful. She clapped with a smile when he was finished. "That was lovely." She said,, her voice was so light, everything she said sounded like a breath. Then he played another song, it seemed for the snake. She giggled when the danced along. She raised the violin to her chin. Her fair skin a clear contrast to her midnight black violin. She raised her bow but stopped when she heard Divina. She looked to see the gorgeous blonde looking at her with Pippa beside her. "Hi!" She beamed. She both looked up to and was slightly attracted to Divinia. She saw Divinia as an Angel of Death. Silky Blonde Hair, Fair skin and souless. Sunday just wanted to reach out and touch her. Her and her snake seemed to exchange words and Divinia spoke about pologamy. She wondered naughtly that maybe she and Divinia and Romeo could one day share a bed.

She nodded when Divinia waited for her song. Sunday beamed. "Right." She said and raised her bow again. She positioned her fingers on the frets and stroked her bow across the strings. Music filled the air and her mind wandered to one of her many daydreams about Romeo. She rose to her knees as she felt the music. Her bow sliding across the strings as the haunting tune rang out. Her fingers moving from fret to fret at an amazing speed. Her body moved to the music as she felt herself become wrapped up in the music and by the end of the song, she was so far gone, she'd forgotten about the group and her song had tried to 'Call' Professor Romeo. She didn't think he heard or responded which was good. He was busy.

She let down her bow and also found that she was standing now. Egdar and Allen chriped and cawed at her performance. She smiled sheeplishly and sat on her legs again. "Sorry, I believe I got carried away."

Battle magic. Well... crap. He was taking that class. Okay, no problem, he'd just have to keep his head down, not attract attention- Oh, who am I kidding? Even in a school like this I'm gonna stand out if it kills me. On the bright side it seemed very unlikely the vampire teacher would actually kill him. Just... be creepy. The 'riding' comment about Angelo cheered him up, though, and he snickered a bit.

Then Prof. Romanov showed up and suddenly he found his attention elsewhere. For the most part he didn't say anything this time, save for an awkward attempt to apologize to Hrutao, who vanished before he could finish. Okay, that one was on him. He'd been right about the ego, apparently, but was so distracted by meeting Ever that he'd forgotten all about him. He would have to apologize later, though it was looking like that might not work. When Prof. Romanov called him a diva, Ali just grinned and shot back "Remind me to introduce you to an eagle called Dactylos." On a more pleasant subject, Romanov didn't seem bothered (though she did call him Alistair, which he never liked) and her vanishing act was seriously impressive. So much so that he even forgot to try and catch a glimpse when she leapt into the air. Well, if this happened a lot then he'd have another opportunity.

He nodded a bit and, after a moment, laughed along with Ever. The day was starting to seem a bit surreal. He was used to magick, yes - of a certain kind. He was used to him having magick, to an eagle who spoke air language and to spirits of air, wind, weather and so on. Forests popping up out of nowhere and supermodel teachers vanishing in the breeze, not so much. He'd probably wake up tomorrow wondering how much of it he'd dreamt. Mental note: This is not a dream. Unless it's like Inception where it's a really vivid dream.

Back in what was probably reality, they were now officially at what he figured was probably the Puck dorm. "This is it," he remarked. "C'mon, let's find my room and dump this stuff." He gestured vaguely with the gym bag in one hand and the other on the strap of his backpack. He had some other stuff that was being sent along - discretely - but for now he just wanted to charge up his laptop and... and... "Okay, dumb question, just occurred to me," he said slowly. "This place has electricity, right? Internet? Wi-fi?"

"Do you even have to ask?" Ali grinned broadly. "First day here and I find out my awesome friend goes here, my mentor is hot and nice, I show up in time for the party - that's it, this is goin' down as the best first day ever!" Dactylos kept telling Ali that Zeus was watching him. It always sounded like just another expectation to fly merrily in the face of, but maybe the old man was actually watching over him. Or at least wanted a good first day for him. Either way, if he was involved and this wasn't just awesome happenstance, he was the new resident cool old guy.

"Let's drop this stuff off, then see who all is around the commons," he suggested after a few moments of just generally reveling in what a great day he was having. "Say, start off at the Puck lounge and move on to the main if there's no one there?"

Ever seemed really lost in thought for a while there. Now he wasn't the most empathetic of folks, but Ali got the odd sense that she was... worried about something? Hm. He didn't really know enough about her situation here to know what it might be, but he hoped it was nothing serious. Maybe he ought to ask? But then she seemed to snap back to the real world and he decided to leave it for later. Then the mention of class as having already started shoved any thought of vague, nebulous concerns out of his mind. "Already started?" He repeated. "And we've just been wandering around here? Damn- C'mon, let's drop this stuff off and run."

She mentioned her Trials just then (Why is she pronouncing it with a capital T?) and that, furthermore, she might have to face off against her boyfriend on the fields of battle. Wow, that could really drive a wedge into a relationship. Well, could if it wasn't just a class thing. Hopefully he wasn't the competitive type. "Well, good luck... I think. Do I have that class too, or what?"

Ali did indeed know how competitive Ever could be. It was one of his favorite things about her, and his ability to switch between 'laid-back' and 'competitive' basically on a whim had intrigued and frustrated her to no end back when they dated - especially when he won, then made it out to be no biggie. If her boyfriend won this round, he'd better watch how he plays his next card. And unless she brought along a bunch of alchemygrams with combat spells on them, that was looking pretty much inevitable. Maybe that's what the wizards on TV have those spellbooks for, he mused.

Snapping back to the present he replied thoughtfully, "I did used to go out to a spot outside the city and blast stuff. Y'know, see how hard the wind can blow with a bit of my unique encouragement. Dactylos' idea, but one of his best. But go up against someone mano-a-mano? No, haven't been there yet." He paused, rubbing his chin a bit as they left his bags behind in his room, which he would be taking a better look at some other time. "I was at the arena just a while ago. Prof. Romanov said I shouldn't be there, so I figure that applies for your trial too. Hey, how did you know what classes you had when you showed up first time?"

"You did say those are only for second-years," Ali responded thoughtfully. "But I guess it wouldn't hurt to see what all I'm supposed to be doing. No classes, no trials, no clue. Wow, maybe showing up late was a bad idea..." He ruminated on this for all of .7 seconds, then smiled again. "Sure, it's on the way. Lead on!" He followed Ever down the corridors, trying to memorize the path for future reference. Didn't they have a map somewhere? One of those big boards with the 'you are here' dot? That would be so useful when he didn't have a guide.

Along the way Ali noticed Patty and Muppet seemed to be whining and mewling to each other. Now he didn't know much about animals, but he knew every other familiar he'd seen had enough intelligence to at least communicate with whoever they were linked with. His own comprehended several languages. It wouldn't surprise him at all if they had their own little animal-speak that only they and maybe a few others understood. He nudged Ever. "Hey, what do you think the furballs are talking about?"

"Who, Dactylos?" Ali shrugged. "Somewhere. Flying, hunting, I dunno. He doesn't really follow me around - just a little bit, ah, big for the buildings, y'know? He's an eagle. Not one of the little ones, either. He was the one who first told me about magick, Zeus, all that stuff. Which, considering I didn't even know eagles could talk or that I could understand his weird language, was a bit of a shock, I can tell you. He's kind of stuck up- Okay, he's really stuck up, and we don't always get along, but he's alright really. We just don't hang out much when he isn't pestering me to work on my magick."

Ali considered all he'd seen so far. "Does everyone's familiar follow them around wherever they go? I mean, I've seen you with Muppet and Prof. Romanov with Hrutao and... that other one, the bird. Then Aedan sends his to keep an eye on us and make sure we're not making out for old times' sake."

Ever Daniels
Ever listened to him go on about his eagle. Apparently he was temperamental too. “You know, I heard that Zeus took the form of an eagle. Maybe it’s your dad being weird?” She asked with a shrug. Her father unfortunately passed away long before she knew him. When her and her mother were on speaking terms, she told her that he was in the military. That he died in a car bombing or something. Ever always thought that should have brought her closer to her daughter but no, it brought her closer to God or something and she disowned her only kid. She hated her aunt for gaining abilities where she didn’t and now that Ever had them too, her mother resented her as well. At least that’s what Ever figured.

Ali then asked about the familiars. “Yea, Typically.” She said and than his last statement registered. “Hey.” She warned with a blush. That was the last thing she needed Aedan thinking or Ali for that matter. She needed to talk to Aedan about this in person. Hopefully they’d have time to talk before the Trials. They still had a ‘date’ during study hall. She didn’t really wanna ruin the mood with the talk of her ex. Maybe she’ll tell him at the party. Oh she didn’t know, she just knew she’d tell Aedan about him sometime today.

"Ancestor," Ali corrected, "not dad. My dad's-" He stopped himself just in time - he'd been about to say his dad was a businessman. He was supposed to have a poor background. "Well, actually, it's on his side, but still way back," he finished hurriedly before moving on to distract from the near-slip. "Though if it is Zeus, that would explain why he's always praising him to high heavens. Either that, or he's just Olympus' greatest suck-up." The only thing bigger than Dactylos, in Dactylos' less-than-humble opinion, was the gods, and Zeus at the very top of that pile. Granted that in most legends he'd heard Zeus was at the top of the divine pile, but still.

After the brief discussion of familiars it seemed the last part finally found its way past Ever's ears. To Ali's intense amusement, she was blushing at the idea. This could not go un-ribbed. "Are you blushing?" He teased, then struck a model's pose. "Well, I guess I can't blame you. Any girl would want some of this, and you already know what you're missing. But don't feel bad, you know what they say: Better to have loved Ali and lost him, then to have never loved him at all." Egotistical? Him? He didn't even know the meaning of the word!
