Violet Rose Petrie

Quiet and shy, but intelligent in her own right

0 · 550 views · located in Unknown Island

a character in “Crash”, as played by one-wing

Description

Name- Violet Rose Petrie
Age- 14
Gender- Female
Looks- She is short and angelic, with light yellow hair, and her bangs are dyed lilac. She usually wears modest clothing, but on the trip she's in a green cardigan, light blue tank top, and dark blue short shorts. She has long hair, almost down to her hips, and she has a small bust, and litte curves, due to being extremely thin. Her eyes are a greyish misty colour, and her lips are small and succulent. She radiates hope in her thin voice. She stands at about 4"9, and she weighs just short of 85 pounds. People say she's anorexic, and her pale skin, weak physical prowess, and yellowing palms are a definate sign of this. However, Violet denies all this. When she's nervous, she plays with her side bangs, and at times chews her lips. She looks like she's close to tears very often, with her wide eyes and soft mouth.
Image
Personallity- Violet is shy and reserved, but is usually alright in one-on-one conversations. She hates conflicts within people she's around, and also is very uncomfortable when people expect things out of her. She's naive, believing in Santa until recently, and she also thinks that everything can turn out alright in the end. Somewhat religious, and takes offense when people mock religion, especially catholic christianity. She's patient and kind, and it's hard to get her annoyed, but she absolutely has no patience for when other people go to her on a decision. She's too insecure to be of any help to anyone else, and too socially awkward to know better. She's known for asking or saying awkward things that are easily taken out of context, and when other people laugh she just feels embarassed and confused. She believes in cooperation and collaborating is the key to survival. It's hard for her to make friends, but if someone can get into her heart, she saves a spot in there forever, even if you betray her afterwards.

The screams. Violet would hear them forever. People screaming, panicking as the plane made it's lethal descent into the ocean. Violet was with the other students, en route to Italy. She was awake through most of it, until she passed out, still stuck to her chair, which was floating in the water in the middle of the flames of the wreckage. The water was red with blood and bodies floated lifelessly, horribly mangled in the water. She could strongly smell the smell of burnt steel mixed with salt water and the metallic smell of blood. She felt pain everywhere, everywhere and was mercifully alowed to lose ocnsciousness.

On a nearly deserted island, the form of a young girl began to writhe. Lifeless for what seemed like years, she coughed and struggled to breathe. Sand and salt water, as well as a bit of blood spilt out of her mouth. She didn't dare to open her eyes. She didn't want to see the bodies. She weakly laughed, and, after a brief internal struggle with her body, she stood up, swaggering and terribly off balance. Still, she kept her eyes fearfully and almost religiously closed against the horrors. Her long hair flowed messily down in dirty strands. She also had pain while breathing, or even moving around. And her chest area felt decidedly strange.

Violet let her hand drift around her ribs... some of whch were oddly mobile. Now Violet couldn't feel the pian at all- it was most likely shock. She felt completely and utterly disconnected from her body as she perused the pains that pulled her.

My ribs might be broken, I'm bleeding pretty bad from my leg I think. I probably had a concussion.

But her eyes felt weird as well. She wiped her hands over her closed and bloody eyelids, and felt contact with something steel. She wrenched it out, still not registering the impossibly agonizing pain awracking through her body. The object fell to the ground with an audible clunk, and a warm, somewhat saltine liquid gushed down her face slowly. Then she opened her eyes. Her eyes that were unseeing; would never see again. Pupils gashed and stabbed by little fragments of steel, and her left eye had a larger chunk imbedded in it. A gruesome hole, pumping a thick liquid, in her left, where the chunk she had taken out was there. A terrible feeling of horror swept through her body, and Violet knelt and decided to cry. Salty tears stung her wounds, the wounds in her eyes that would see no more. She faintly heard the sound of somewhat crying out for others. The voice was shrill and fear haunted her words, sounding terribly shaken and paranoid. Violet started heading in that direction, and tripped over something hard and fleshy.

So she had no other option.

"Im here, please come help me!" She wailed in response to the unknown girl, who didn't seem that far away from her.

Theo was walking the shore slowly, making sure to make whatever notes he could about his surroundings. He walked a little further but stop suddenly, looking down at a trail of blood on the floor, and a large piece of metal. Theo carefully knelt down and looked closer at the sharp steel chunk, squinting slightly as he made out the blood, before he heard a shout nearby. He turned his head towards the noise and stood up slowly, noticing the blood trail leading towards the shouting.

Theo cautiously followed the sound and the trail of blood until he saw something. A girl was half kneeling half laying on somebody, but he couldn't see who they were. His face took on a sudden look of urgency, and he sped up as to get to them faster. Theo would have had no warning as to what he was going to see. The girl he'd seen before, he thought. She had been sat in front of him on the plane, and he recognised her hair. She seemed to be laid on one of the teachers, Dr. Watson, who was laying completely still. As he got just over the girl, he noticed something was wrong. Dr. Watson was mutilated almost beyond recognition. During the crash his face and slammed right into wall of the plane, but his body must have been ragged about pretty badly before he wound up here.

Theo lifted his hand to his face, covering his nose and mouth, "Jesus.." he spoke aloud, before looking at the girl, "Hey.. hey are you o-" he stopped suddenly when she turned her head in his direction. Theo winced as he saw her, her face pretty much torn up and half metal, "Oh.. fuck.." he turned his face away for a moment before looking back at her and kneeling down, pulling the girl away gently from the mutilated teacher. She must have been stumbling about and tripped over him by mistake, at least that's what Theo has deducted. Theo fell back onto his bottom and crossed his legs, pulling the girl back, using his legs and one arm around her shoulders to support her, side ways on, as he examined her destroyed eyes.

"Hey, I need you to speak to me.." he spoke in a gentle voice and awaited her response.

A voice. A miraculous voice. Violet wasn't alone. Maybe it was that fleshy thing she had tripped over. If so, the thing's alive.

"Jesus... hey are you oh-" The scared voice asked. Which was norma. Every voice was scared. "Oh Jesus." The voice exclaimed, now more obviously male, although it had a sick sound to it, as if one wanted to vomit. There was a long pause, and then gentle hands leped her sit down. The voice breathed irregularily, as if there was a big shock. But at least he could see a shock. "Hey... I need you to speak to me." The voice said soothingly, almost lovingly. Violet opened her mouth. It was a conscious effort to move her tongue.

"I can't see". Violet said plainly. She was still disassociated with everything, numb. It's almost as if her brain could detatch from it's earthy cage. Violet giggled a little at the thought. "Why can't I see?" She asked whoever was helping her. She could sort of recognize the voice, but she couldn't pick up a face nor a name to match.

"I'm happy I'm not the only one who survived? Violet babbled without thinking, her voice frighteningly monotone. "It'd be hard to survive like this alone, right? I can't see. What a laugh riot!"

Her voice was verging on hysteria, but maddeningly calm and collected. She could hear everything almost twice as well as she used to- every bird landing on the beach, every wave that crashed into the sand, even the hard ragged breathing of her new friend. She wondered who else survived. Maybe there were more.

"I'm tired. And hungry." Violet whined. She heard a rough sigh from in front of her. Whoever this person is, Violet hopes he would stay. They might be able to make it home, somehow.

"I always loved reading. Have you seen my book?" Violet asked conversationally, although there was a darker, more sinister undertone to it.

Theo held the girl in his arms and supported her, all the time examining her eyes, trying his best not to throw up at the grusome sight. He had seen things like this before, but only with animals, not humans. He remembered living close to a farm, and how the farmer used to kill the cows out back, chopping them up out in the open for anyone to see. Theo pushed the memory back and listened to the girl talking to him, seeming totally oblivious to everything that was going on. He wasn't sure what to say to her, he couldn't just blurt out that her eyes had more metal than the plane did. He thought for a moment and rubbed his head.

"You erm.. You got a name?" Theo continued to speak in his gentle voice, comforting her the best he could, and trying to figure out why she wasn't feeling this. "I'm gunna need something to call you arn't I..?" All the time he was talking, he was mentally planning the actions he would have to take here. Her eyes.. couldn't stay in her head, not like this, if they got infected she'd be done for. How would Theo even be able to tell her that?, "Erm.. We need to get what's left of your eyes out of your head.." No, that would never do. He would need to do this subtly, and make sure then she was ready enough to understand.

"I'm Theo.. And I'm afraid I haven't seen your books.."

Violet began to sway slightly, smiling brightly, almost dazedly at the clear blue sky. What remained of her eyes were starry, dazed, and perpetually confused. She wondered if this was total bliss: being completely free from the mortal pains of her body. She truly felt nothing, just a vast white emptiness. She listened peacefully to the crashing waves and the crabs and the swaying of the trees and the rustling of the leaves... but mostly to her breathing. She listened to that the most. Those who die can not breathe. So I know I'm alive, even if I can't see. She breathed out softly, imagining she could see her breath flowing gracefully with the natural movement of the air.

"Violet Rose Petrie. Born on February 24th, 1996, I live in North Carolina and I-" Violet suddenly turned to the boy, almost as if she could sense him.

"But I want to read." Violet pouted. "I want to read it helps calm me down. I'm at a good part, mommy! You need to let me finish. Please? I'll go to bed right after. I'm a good girl." Violet grinned toothily. "You can trust me. Please trust me!" She could faintly see the image of her mother, burned sweetly into her brain as well as anything. She could hear and feel the delights of reading in bed, before falling asleep, the mind always in that neutral mindspace, half awake and asleep. She continued babbling and rambling endlessly, repeating many things word-for word that she ever said previously in her life. The sadness of when her mother died; the elation of when she turned nine; or even the horror of when she had her first period. A small voice in her head, barely heard but it was there. She couldn't remember when it had started; it was almost as if it had always been there, with nothing to call her attention to it.

Please focus... if you want to live you have to focus. The boy is trying to save your life please you have to help him help you

(I wouldn't come to us Kurmix, something tells me it's about to get even more gruesome up in hither)

Theo looked down at her again, then across at Dr. Watson. "Violet.. Right, that's a lovely name.. As for your book.. I'm really sorry but there is nothing much I can do.." After a moment, he noticed that Dr. Watson had his bag still on him, strapped around his body. He had been that sort of guy, the nerdy teacher that never took anything off in fear of it being stolen, and packing everything he'd need in any situation, making this very convenient. Theo reached over and unstrapped the bag from Watsons body, turning his head away from the disgusting sight as he pulled the bag towards him and opened it up.

"Looks like we're in luck Miss Violet.. I may have found some things.." Theo slowly opened up the bag and started taking things out. His face became bewildered and slightly disturbed when he pulled out a soggy Playboy magazine and a bottle of Johnsons baby oil. "Oh my God.. I bet he lived with his mum too.." Theo shook his head and kept routing through the bag, smiling as he found a large green box with a white cross on it. "Perfect.." he spoke aloud and placed the first aid kit down on the sand, opening it to see what was inside.

Theo was quite shocked. This first aid kit was like a miniature surgery, filled with all sorts of strange equipment and disinfectants, something he suddenly realised he'd most likely have to use. "Violet.. I need to tell you something.. that may come as a shock.." Theo spoke as kindly as he could in his soothing yet serious voice, "Your eyes.. Your eyes are pretty badly damaged.. and I'm afraid that.. that you won't see again.." he watched her face as she reacted to his words. "I'm sorry but.. all we can do is.. we need to remove what's left.. or it could get worse.. and you could get very sick.."

Taking a quiet deep breath, Theo held it before speaking in almost a whisper, "I'm sorry Miss Violet, but.. It's the only choice we have.. are you getting any of this..?" he released the breath and half hugged her, trying his best to make the news as undistressing as possible. "I need your thoughts.. I need you to think straight for me.. can you do that Miss Violet..?"

(If anyone has a problem with Theo conveniently finding this stuff, let it be known. Being fair however, it's quite plausable, useful, and unless we want me to cut out Violets eyes with some broken coconut shell, we should let it go! xD)

Stephanie struggled from her knees up to her feet and looked around the beach, taking in some breaths and letting out a shakey noise. "Where.. Where is this place?" she thought to herself, looking up and down the beach. She noticed some smoke coming from down, probably part of the plane, but also probably the most dangerous part. Stephanie thought for a moment, Perhaps everyone had already moved north, in one big group and had already set up a place to sleep and live while they were stuck here. That was one thought. Unfortunately, she was feeling rather daunted by the thought that maybe she was the only one left, or maybe she was dead. In any case, she knew that she should still look, who knew, maybe she was right and everyone was fine.

Stephanie began to limp northward, keeping her eyes forward on the beach ahead, that seemed to go on forever. Soon, she stepped in something damp, unsure of what it was. She realised that she was nowhere near the sea, at least not close enough to where the sand was dampened by the tide. She looked down at her feet and noticed she was standing in blood red sand, making her face instantly drop. When she noticed she was standing in blood she hopped back slightly with a yelp. Stephanie hated blood, she didn't mind seeing it, but contact or a close view was a big no no unless it was her own. She looked at the blood and noticed a trail leading towards a more central spot of the island.

Suddenly, Stephanie noticed a boy, holding a girl in his arms. She quietly moved behind a tree and watched what they were doing. The girl seemed to have something wrong with her eyes, and the boy was helping. Not wanting to get in the way, Stephanie stayed hidden, and watched the two people before her, wondering what they would do.

Remove what's left...

Violet didn't want to get sick. Not at all. That would be horrible! Her subconscious had removed her from her mortal pains, bringing her into herself, sunken and crenallated. Nirvana. It means freedom from pain. Freedom from everything. Freedom from life. Freedom from fear of harm in every way. She was only aware of the soft breeze; the sounds of heavy breathing; almost panting, and the strange thick liquid, somewhat dried up and coagulated on her face. She was aware of these things, but she was also aware of something else. And that was what she focused on.

Violet was five. She had a dog. A happy looking Border Collie that barks and and gives that dopey doggy grin. She always liked the smile. She named him Smiley, which, in retrospect, was a totally lame name. But Violet was five and didn't know any better. Why would she know better? She's just in her room, doors and windows closed. Playing with Smiley. Feeling a faint breeze on her face, and enjoying the salty smell of the sea... but that couldn't mean anything bad. She's only five! She's happy and safe.

She knelt on the floor and looked at her dog: a pug. A second ago it was a border collie but now it's a rather small and snout-nosed pug. Smiley still gave that doggy grin. Violet giggled. She wondered how a dog could change but dismissed it. But her eyes felt weird and she could heart faint murmurs... murmurs that seemed to be beyond this world.

I need your thoughts... I need you to think straight for me... can you do that, Miss Violet?"

All the pain started rushing back in, and for the first time on the island, Violet's head was clear. She screeched as she searing pain bit into her chest and eyes, [i]Eyes? What eyes?
, and she struggled to keep quiet, breathing harsh and raggedly, and looked to where she thought the voice was coming from.

"H-how.. bad are they?" Violet asked tersely, through gritted teeth, trying to bite the aches away. She knew, but she didn't want to believe. Not her eyesight. How could she live blind? How?

"They might recover... right? And w-what if you mess up or something?" She moved her fingers gingerly to her face, but couldn't bear to touch her eye. She wanted to be back in that safe place inside her head. She wanted the Island to go away. But she couldn't go back in- her mind wouldn't let her. So she felt towards the voice and held him tight.

Theo's eyes widened when Violet clamped onto him in a hug, looking down at her. He felt kinda out of place, he was never one for hugs, or much contact really. Not to mention he didn't know this girl, or anyone that had been on the plane for that matter. Theo had moved to Carolina from England, where he was born and raised. He had only been in America for about half a year, and hadn't spent any time at all making friends. Not to mention, none of the people who came were in his classes, so he'd have to actually communicate with them, if anyone else was alive.

Taking a deep breath Theo finally replied, "I'm really sorry.. but I'm afraid they are beyond repair.." he looked over her eyes once more, the sight making his insides twist, but he didn't let himself lose concentration or become weakened. Theo noticed that Violets right eye was pretty much intact, with only a few pieces of steel in it. He wasn't sure if it could heal, but he was fairly confident that it wouldn't need to come out if it was taken care of, and disinfected. However, he knew for a fact the other eye would.

"Your right eye.. it might not need to come out.. but I'll need to take out some of that shrapnel. Your left eye though.. there's nothing we can do about that.." Theo spoke in his kind voice as he had the whole time. Although he didn't like being touched much, he carefully hugged her back, mainly because he wanted to comfort her, knowing what he'd have to do. Theo looked down at the open first aid kit, seeing a sterilized packet reading, 'Scalpel' in big green letters. "I'm afraid we have no other choice.. What do you want me to do..?"

"Okay." Violet said, in a slightly starry voice, and she slapped herself across the face. She was starting to lose it again; she couldn't let that happen. Not now. She wept unseen tears for her eyes, and took a deep, nearly neverending breath.

"Okay. Cut them off. Please." Was the whispered answer. "But please let me sleep first? I'm scared of feeling it." Without waiting for an answer, she laid her head against the soft sand, and tried to lose herself inside the confines of her labyrinthic mind. She tried to think about what her life had been; tried to overload her brain again. Insanity during a procedure like this was the key.

"Um. Wait for me to go crazy again, okay?" Violet asked anxiously. Then she tried to burn the image of what her eyes could look like into her mind; using her brain's eye to see. It didn't work, and she didn't lose control of herself. That would be best. She just hopes she could regain control again, somehow. Violet didn't want to be trapped in insanity forever, especially not now. Not when there was a chance of survival; a chance to come home again, even if she wasn't whole. And with this boy, the chance was there.

Violet concentrated on home, and her mind began to blur; a whirlwind of memories and chasms and dreams and desires... spiralling down and down... down to oblivion.

(I'm sorry for the really long post, but I figured the faster I did this, the less posts I would need to spread it over. Anyway, yeah, sorry xD)

Theo listened as Violet talked to him, her voice filled with fear, or at least so it sounded. He thought for a moment about what she had said and intervined, "Wait.. what if I can't get you back? I don't know if I can look after your crazy self.." Theo's eyes slid down to the kit again, noticing multiple syringes and a few little bottles of chemicals. Luckily, Theo used to do science, and was almost top of his class. He knew all the elements and quite a few chemicals, being more into Biology, so this was almost like one of the disections he would have done, except Violet was alive.. and human.

A bottle caught Theo's eye, and he picked it up slowly and read the label. 'Ketamine.' He had seen this before, Ketamine was a chemical used in surgeries to put people to sleep. "What did Watson think was going to happen for him to need all this crap.." he looked around then sighed, "Good job he prepared.." Theo refocused and shook Violet slightly, bringing her back to reality, "Miss Violet.. I have something that can put you to sleep for about thirty minutes.. By that time I'll be done." He had guessed that she understood and agreed, and so reached down for a syringe, stabbing it into the foil top of the bottle, and retracting the plunger, extracting just the right amount from the bottle.

Theo took a deep breath and placed down the bottle back in the box, lifting Violets arm with his now free hand. He let it rest elevated on his knee and he used his free hand to flick the needle gently, testing if it was flowing correctly. It was. Theo lifted Violets arm from his knee and held it as straight as possible, wiping a certain spot with a disinfectant wipe. "Ok miss Violet.. I'm about to give you something that will put you to sleep.. It's going to feel like a hard pinch.. but when I'm done, start counting back from ten.. and when you wake up, everything will be just fine."

Carefully, Theo lined the needle up with Violets vein, and slowly penetrated her skin, and through to the vein. He then began to inject the Ketamine into her arm. "There.. there we go, the hard part's over.. now, count back from ten for me.." Theo listened as she only made it to seven. "Right.. that's the easy part over.." he spoke quietly to himself, and looked down at the first aid kit once again. Slowly he reached down and picked up the sealed scalpel, and a pair of latex gloves. He pulled the gloves onto his hands and carefully tore the top of the packet, removing the scalpel and running his eyes over it, his breathing becoming shakey.

Theo shook his head, letting his mind become clear. "I'm not going to lose concentration here.. Keep it together Theo.. Keep it together!" He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, then opened them and let it go, looking down at the now sleeping Violet. Theo took another deep breath and began to go to work, taking some things from the first aid kit. He used some medical tape to sterdilly hold open her eye lids, as he'd need both hands. Theo moved himself in a position so that the sun would hit his back, and not Violets eyes. He took a pair medical tongs from the kit.

"The left eye first.." Theo decided it would be a better idea to get the hardest part out of the way first. Slowly he used the tongs to take a loose piece of the eye, and sliced it cleanly with the scalpel. He looked away and took a deep shakey breath, before looking back and continuing. It took him ten minutes of slicing, wiping and cleaning, but Theo had finally managed to remove the eye. He had less trouble with the right, using a pair of medical tweezers to carefully remove the shrapnel.

Theo took more medical wipes and used them to clear up the leaks that dripped down Violets face. He took a cloth hankerchief from Watsons bag and held it against Violets left eye, letting the blood seep into it. It was no use, he needed to close to wound, and quickly. Theo scoured the bag once more, amazed to find a Zippo lighter. "How did he get all this shit on the plane?! no wonder we crashed, the airline doesn't have any security at all.." He took a deep breath and lit the Zippo, concentrating as he used the flame to heat the blade of the scalpel, watching as it became a glowing yellow. Holding his breath and wincing slightly, Theo used the now red hot steel to cauterize the gaping and empty eye socket. He listened to the sound of the burning, sealing off the wound, before taking the scalpel away and coughing.

Knowing he needed to finish off, Theo placed the equipment down, and picked up a bottle of disinfectant, unscrewing it, and pouring some onto the cauterized wound. He dabbed it softly with the cloth, and padded it with a cotton patch. He removed the tape from the left eye lid and let it close, before he placed a cotton patch over that also. Theo finished by wrapping a bandage around her head, covering both her eyes. "There.. that should do it.. and with five minutes to spare.."

Stephanie observed the pair with great curiosity. She wasn't the only survivor and for that she was thankful, she knew next to nothing about survival skills, only the basics of food, water and shelter. Stephanie felt a sudden surge of bitterness, maybe if she hadn't had been so privileged before she could have learnt some of this stuff but now it was too late to regret taking things for granted. She had currently lost everything dear to her and it was unlikely she was going to get it back. It just proved that money was worthless in some respects, it wasn't going to help her now. Stephanie tried to listen in on their conversation but she couldn't make out much, still it was pretty obvious that they were in distress.

Stephanie watched as the boy began to take medical equipment out of what looked like a first aid kit. She watched him withdraw liquid into a syringe and flick the needle. Suddenly it came to Stephanie, the boy was going to perform some sort of surgery on the girl. Was he crazy? The boy looked around her age, he couldn't have much medical knowledge, he'd probably end up doing more damage rather than actually helping the girl. Stephanie knew she should probably approach them and tell the boy what he was doing was dangerous but she found herself just numb. All of this was so surreal to her, she wasn't sure it could really be happening, this alone stopped her from rushing out and stopping him. The boy lifted the girls arm onto his knee and Stephanie watched in horror as he slowly pushed the contents of the syringe into the girls body. She just had to hope he had done the right thing.

The boy seemed to be calming himself before he did anything else. She wondered again whether he had any idea of what serious risks he was taking. She watched as more and more equipment began to emerge from the box and he began to work. Stephanie couldn't see exactly what he was doing but she saw the scalpel and the tongs. Realisation hit her. Shit... he was going to cut out part of her eye. Stephanie couldn't watch anymore, she felt the bile rise in her throat as she mentally pictured what was about to come. She turned away and fell to her knees, finally succumbing to tears.

Violet woke up dazedly, and felt a great swelling pain in where her eyes were. Used to be. She got up, looked around, trying to see, and remembered that she's blind now. She plopped back onto the sand with a dry thud. She felt utterly defeated.

"Thanks." Violet mumbled quietly. "Why didn't you just kill me, give me mercy?" A wave of despair had washed over her, knowing she'd never see the faces of her loved ones ever again, be forever isolated from the world visually. Separated forever. Although the boy might be emotionally scarred when he returns home, Violet would be emotionally and physically destroyed. She'd never be able to see again. She wouldn't be able to get back to normal, unlike the boy.

"You should have killed me." Violet whispered. She felt strange- as if a part of her was missing, her head felt somewhat lighter. She started to make crying sounds, and huddled into herself, but she had no eyes to cry from.

(Hahaha xD No I'm not a doctor, just watched many medical shows! Hope I didn't kill you all with my damn over detail!)

Theo listened to her words as he began to dig a hole in the sand, making it deep enough not to be accidently uncovered. He placed the refuse and used equipment in the cloth and wrapped them up, tying it up with some medical tape. Once he was sure the hole was deep enough he placed the bundle into the hole and refilled it with sand. "You shouldn't say things like that.. You're alive.. You might have lost your sight, but you're alive. Which is more than alot of people on that flight can say.." Theo's words seemed to be more sharp and serious, as if he was telling it as straight as he could, eyesight or no eyesight.

"Anyway.. I'm sorry.." Theo took a deep breath and let it out as a sigh, "I'm not sure if you caught it before.. with being insane and all.. But I'm Theo.. Theo Gibson" He spoke kindly again, taking off the latex gloves and burying them also, before using some wipes to clean his hands. "I know all this is alot to take in.. but as bad as it is for us individually.. we're in the same boat.." Theo looked around carefully, "We may be the only ones that survived.." He had watched many documentaries on plane crashes and such, and even a few on survival. However, he didn't feel anymore knowlagable about this situation anyway.

Theo looked down at Violet, bowing his head slightly, "If it makes any difference.. you still have your right eye.. Just.. I don't think it will heal" he felt pretty sorry for her, but he knew there was nothing more he could do. Shifting over to her, he placed his arms around her cautiously and gave her a gentle hug. "We're gunna need to find somewhere to sleep.." Theo looked up at the sky and noticed how high the sun was. "It's mid day.. so we might get burnt if we don't find shade.." He sighed once more and looked at Violet again.

Violet wept bitterly for a bit more, and felt the sun beating hard onto her back. Violet desperately wanted to see; but she also knew, deep inside, that it was too late. She'd be blind for the rest of her life, however long that may be. She gripped the boy's hand tightly. His name is Theo.

"Just stop calling me Miss Violet." Violet said in a small, defeated voice. "You probably saved my life. Whether or not that's a favor is still questionable."

She held out her hand, and Theo helped her stand up. Violet felt angry at herself again; she was now reduced to just being a useless load, a dead weight. Utterly useless and helpless to everything. And vulnerable. Vulnerable most of all. She still didn't completely trust Theo, but she sighed and decided that he was all she had right now.

"Why find shade? Why go somewhere? What's a few more sunburns?" Violet asked, with a hard edge to her voice, and stumbled over her own feet, and fall face first into the sand. She cursed her luck, apologized meekly, and held out her hand blindly again. "Could you get me like a walking stick or something?" Violet asked Theo, hating the way her life had progressed more and more with each passing second, with every ray of hot sunlight slamming down onto her pale and thin body.

Theo watched as she fell and moved to catch her, to no avail. He sighed as he held out her hand and her carefully helped her up. "A few sunburns, is a waste of medical equipment.. we need this stuff for more important things.. there has to be more people out there who need help.." Theo looked up and the sun and noticed that Violets shoulders were going red. He took the hoodie from around his waist, wincing slightly at his wound, and placed it over her exposed shoulders. "I see what I can do about getting you something to walk with.." he slowly packed the things he'd used back into the bag and strapped it on to his body.

"Stay here and don't move.. I'll only be a few minutes ok?" With that Theo turned and headed towards some trees, hoping to find a broken branch. It was only then that he heard crying, a girls crying. Theo looked around and followed the source, until finally he found a girl, kneeling and facing the other way from him. "Hey.. You ok Miss?" the girl didn't look hurt, but she had obviously been in the crash. Theo noticed a sterdy branch beside her and knelt down to pick it up, "Perfect.." He noticed the girl look at him, taking note of her facial expression. "You should come with me.. We need to find some shelter and supplies ok?"

Theo examined the girl and silently waited for whatever response she would give.

Alone in the darkness of a strange world. Theo went to leave to get her something, anything, but the animal panic started rising inside her. She sat there, listening to everything, trying to keep her heart from jumping out of her mouth, and weep for itself. She was surrounded by darkness, and yet; Violet was too afraid to lie down and rest to pass the time. Her hands were twitching, hating the fact that there was no book resting comfortably in their soft cradle. She longed for Theo to return, but deep inside her, Violet knew he wouldn't. She was just going to help him die. Dead weight. Useless. Just another mouth to feed.

She couldn't even cry. That was the worst part, the hell of it. She couldn't even cry. Not when she needed it most. Not when she needed to heal, to cry the poison out of her, cry out all the pain this new life had given her. She made a strange gutteral noise, and dry-sobbed, the feeling wracking through her body, trying to cleanse her soul but failing, as the tear ducts couldn't shed the poison out.

She was trapped, in the middle of the never ending darkness, with no way of eating or drinking, and no one to help her. Violet laughed a little at her predicament; and losing hope, she stood up, and fumbled, but tried to get up again and finally made it, with a series of crablike motions. She put her arms out, and walked around, taking small careful steps, feeling for something to hang on to. She fell over a tree stump, which was strange because she didn't remember there being a forest- unless there was a forest on the island. She got back him, and stumbled her way deeper into the jungle, suddenly aware of the smell of murky air in the foliage, and the chittering of strange and unseen insects.

Violet was trudging hatefully, still doing that mewling dry sob, like a cat with a hairball that just won't get out; or a dog that's been hit by a car. She waved her hands in front, pushing away anything that might get in the way as she took little baby steps, going to an unknown location. She moved reluctantly, like a dog being whipped through a strange and terrible place.

She had fallen multiple times, and she was bleeding all over, but hardly noticing as the thick and lucious red liquid gushed out of her many wounded. A bruise here, a few scratches there, a rather large gash where she walked into a rather sharp branch. She walked in a slowly winding zigzag, with droplets of blood lacing each and every step after monotonous step. Her clothes were ripped up, hardly covering much of her at all as she kept putting her feet in front of the other, one after another, heading to an almost certain fate with each and every painful step. She didn't know how long she took. She didn't know how long she's been walking limping. Limping through the hellish woods, smelling that maddenly ripe smell of leaves and rotted plants and dirt and mushrooms...

And feeling the side of a cool, hard rock. Perplexed, Violet was sure that something was up. Rock? And it was cool in here, not like the heat in the woodsy place. She was stumbling, her barefeet feeling the surface of cool wet stone, rather than the assortments of thorns, plants, dirt, and insects. One of her raw and swollen feet had went down with an audibly wet, popping sound. She felt a wet and cool sensation that reached up to her ankles. Violet bent down and felt the fresh feeling of water, and gulped up what she could. Then she kept on walking, at that deathly slow pace, wading through the spring.

Theo looked up at the sky which was now begining to turn a dark blue, welcoming night to this part of the world. He took on a concerned look and continued to wade along the Jungle like terrain. After a little while, he noticed a tree branch with some blood on it, and from there, noticed a trail of blood heading into a dark and threatning cave. "You think she's in there..?" Theo turned his head to look at Stephanie, a seriously look still posted on his face. He acknowlaged her response, "Well.. I think we should check it out.."

Walking cautiously to the entrance of the cave, Theo fished in his pocket for the Zippo, and lit it up, letting it instantly luminate part of the cave. As they started to walk a little further, the lighter died for a moment, and they stood in total blackness. "Ugh, Come on you piece of shit.." Theo attempted to light the Zippo a few more times, the flint letting off a few sparks now and then. Finally, the lighter lit up, and looking up, Theo saw what seemed to be movement of the caves ceiling itself.

"BATS!" Theo let out a shout that echo'd through the cave as the bats suddenly burst into life, swooping down and swarming around himself and Stephanie. He swatted at them with his arms, keeping them away from the two and they eventually fled the cave and out into the night sky. "Damn it.. Are you ok Miss Stephanie?" Theo was breathing a little faster, fatigue from the day begining to catch up to him. He turned and walked further into the cave, lighter in hand, when suddenly he noticed water below him. "Fresh water..?" he then looked up when he heard movement, "Hey.. Violet is that you?" Theo moved a little closer to the noise, and saw it was Violet.

She heard Theo and another girl walk in. She heard the click of the lighter, the sound of their footfalls, and swarm of the bats, but she most importantly heard his voice. Theo had returned with someone else. Violet turned around at the sound of his voice, and fell headfirst into the water, blood seeping into it, turning the water a faint tinge of red. She got up dizzily, and tried to get up, her left leg jutting out awkwardly, her thin hip swaying as she couldn't stand and fell back over on her side.

Then she lifted her head over the water, breathing hard, trying to ignore her helplessness, trying to focus on the feeling of relief, now that her saviour, and another girl were here.

"Thank you.. f-for coming back." Violet drawled, her voice sounding not too different from someone who was drunk. She laughed shamefully as she lifted her arm in the air, wishing desperately she could see, and felt a cold hang pull her to her feet, and arms catch arond her trembling body before she fell over again. Then, as she lay with her head in Theo's lap, she drifted off into her world, restfully and peacefully.

"Daddy, am I lovely?"

Yeah. Of course you are.

"If you were my age, would you.."

Would I what?

"Would you, um. Do me? Am I that lovely?"

What the fuck kind of question is that?

"Sorry. It's just that... aah nevermind."

.... yes.

"Yes what?"

I'm lonely, ever since Mom left.

"..."

I have to admit, it's hard being around such a pretty teenaged girl when you're a lonely man...

"Wh- what are you saying?"

Violet, dear... um. I have these photos. Of you. In the shower. Sleeping. I'm.. sorry.

"What the fuck!?"

Violet recited this conversation in a laughing, light hearted voice, ignoring the horror she had felt in her twelve year old body, quickly beginning to develop. She had no idea she was saying it out loud. She just knew she was happily dozing in her dream world, free, once again, from the mortal terror of her life.
