"Only the ignorant equate strong emotion with fear." He does not feel fear. He is apathetic towards the idea of getting caught, being interrogated, being tortured, or even being killed. He thrives off of the pain and agony of others, knowing none of his own despite what he's gone through in the past. It is aparent that he does not possess any human emotion besides sheer sadistic satisfaction. He's passionate in his drive to hold dominion over those who serve him, wanting nothing more than to reap chaos.

There is cruel elegance to blood spatter, elegance that only he would appreciate. However elegant, this man is mad—obsessed with power. Jim enjoys his role as a villain, showing a callous indifference for other people’s lives, happily murdering or organizing the homicide of innocent people simply because he enjoyed it. He considers life to be pointless. He is willing to do anything to stop himself from getting bored. He is incredibly sarcastic and condescending, never missing a moment to degrade you or bring up bad memories. Though sadistic and cruel, there is an air of mystery to him that makes him incredibly intimidating. You never know how far he'll go to get what he wants, what elaborate scheme he'll partake. All you know for certain is that he is insane. He holds a blatant disregard for any lesser mortal, and for him that's every mortal. The inanity shows in the way he smiles, in the grandiose way he speaks, and the glimmer in his eyes. The passion he displays for what he does proves that he has a heart, just one laden with greed and malice. He wants people to suffer, but no one knows why. James is a man with a brilliant mind, showing the prowess of an eidetic memory and the mental capacity to store all of it and then some. He uses his genius for all of the wrong reasons, setting up a network of people (other than those a Crime & Co) to either benefit him or simply amuse him. James Carmine isn't a man at all. He's a spider. A spider at the center of a web, a web of miserable people who sit on every thread and he knows precisely how each and every one of them dances. In a summary, Jim is a psychopath.

Born in the United Kingdom to an Irish family, James was raised Catholic—as is typical of people in his heritage. However, despite the diligent teachings of his pastors, Jim would never be accused of being a saint. As a child he was a bit of a sociopath, convinced he was smarter than his peers. In truth he was, but you'd never tell him that. His notorious reign of crime began when he was just eleven, when he murdered a boy who bullied him by poisoning his eczema medication. He was never caught and as a result, he continued weaving a web of crime. This web was intricate, spreading vastly over the United Kingdom. It's an industry of sorts, much like Crime & Co, where he services those who need a certain job done. Jim is the king of the criminal underground; the name no one ever says aloud. It wasn't until three years ago that he was actually held under custody, charged with attempted theft of the crown jewels. Having broken in to the Tower of London, Jim wore the crown jewels and there he remained until the police arrived. His reason? He was bored. Having the connections one would obviously acquire in his line of work, Jim was acquitted. However now, he wants more than just the crown jewels. He wants all of them, the royal jewels and all, as well as the death of the royal family. Seeing as all of his resources are currently used up, Jim had to resort to more distant measures. Hiring the Americans down at Crime & Co, he's willing to fly them all down to London to see this job finished. He'd do it himself but...he doesn't like getting his hands dirty. Not much is known about him other than this and there are few he'd ever tell his entire life story to.
