Jered

Its strange how just mer months ago this street in Northern Tokyo was busy with the hustle and bustle of the Japanese people, and now, now it was a wasteland. Around every corner the carnage stretched on for as far as the eye can see. Overturned and crashed cars littered the roads, leaking fuel all over the roads, coursing a massive hazard, one spark and the whole place could go up. The shops that line the street now lie in ruin, the glass was smashed by looters after the first thew outbreaks. And then theres the stench, where ever you are in Tokyo, all you can smell is the dead the line the streets. As it was January, and the ground was covered with an even sprinkling of snow, coursing most of the bodies were frozen.
There was only one set of footprints in the snow, and they belonged to seventeen year old Jered Harris. He had been wandering the streets looking for other survivors so he would have more chance of survival, but he was starting to think that he might be the only person left in Tokyo. He Saw a convenience store that looked like it had not been completely looted.
"Ah, this looks promising." He whispered to himself, trying to be as quite as possible. Jered climes into the shop through the smashed glass window being careful not to cut him hands on the glass.
It was a small shop, 4 rows and a small door at the back of the room, it was slightly open. There wasn't much left in she shop after looters had there go at it, but Jered too what he thought useful, he took all the cup ramen they had, 3 bottles of water and a battery flashlight with some extra batteries. He loaded them into his backpack and sat in the chair behind the counter where the worker would have sat. Looking over the chaos, he thought about how much destruction this pathogen had coursed.
He sat quietly thinking for thirteen minutes before looking at his watch, 11:58am. Remembering that the American's were sending radio broadcasts over to Japan for any survivors there might be every hour on the hour, he got out his phone with built in radio and, quite sure there was no undead around, turned up the volume to half way.
"This is an emergency broadcast to Japan in this time of great need" The lady on the radio said, it started like this every time, Jered was quite bored of it starting like this. Then she went on to talk about the main story of the day. "Today in Tokyo, a rebellious terrorist group, yet to be named, coursed a slur by.." at that moment Jered heard a loud moan from through the door at the back of the store, he turned the radio off immediately. The door swung open reveling one of the undead, starring in his direction. The zombie was male and must have been a worker once as he was wearing an apron with a badge that said 'Welcome to the store, my name is...'
Jered climbed over the counter as quickly as possible, the zombie in pursuit, There was no time to be careful out of the window and Jered quite badly cut his hands when getting out, he tripped a little as he got through the window but continued to ran as fast as he could away from the zombie. The zombie, who can't feel pain had no problem getting out of the window and followed after Jered in quick pursuit .
Jered, who is quite athletic and speedy was running out of breath and he knew he couldn't run forever, so he started looking for a temporary weapon. He notices a hardware store and that there was a rack with shovels on it out the front of the shop. Grabbing the first shovel he saw, Jered turned to face the zombie, holding the shovel like a baseball bat, he smiled and shouted "Come at me!"
Just as the zombie was in range, Jered swung the and hit the zombie in the head with the flat side of the shovel coursing it to fall to the ground, he kicked it when it was down, but it slowly got back up again. Now holding the shovel with both hands, Jered pushes it into a parked car and then hit it downwards again. Then with one final blow, Jered stabs his shovel through the zombies neck, decapitating the foul beast, but, when doing this Jered accidentally smashed the cars window coursing the cars alarm to start. Jered stopped for a moment, he knew that dew to all the noise he had made there would be more coming soon.

From his vantage point he could see everything. All the carnage, all the death, all the destruction. He could see it all. His hands twitched as the cold metal began to numb them. He quickly took them off and shoved them into his pockets. He shrugged his shoulders to try and warm himself . He watched his breath leave his mouth in a stream of white smoke. "Whoo," he breathed. "This sucks, I need a jacket."

The fire escape held onto the side of the building, 15 stories above the earth. He wasn't afraid of heights. He wasn't afraid of anything anymore. well, that is, except for one thing. He heard it before he saw it. He looked down a few floors and saw a curious walker making his way out the window and onto the fire escape. "Bad idea walker" He breathed. He reached out of his pockets and grabbed the 6 foot long lacrosse stick at his feet. Once he had that he made his way down the stairs to meet his prey. It saw him and growled. It began to stumble up the stairs after him. His fingers tightened around the metal pole as the anxiety of the kill closed in. "game on" he whispered.

The zombie screamed and tore across the 13 feet of metal between them. He swung his stick with all of his might and grimaced at the blood curdleing crunch as his stick collided with the skull of the walker. It bent sideways over the railing. The man leapt in front of the walker and gave it one final push to send it over the edge. He didn't calm down until he heard the splat of the creature smacking into the concrete below.

He made his way back to his temporary home on the top floor of the escape. It was time to move out. If that walker had found him, he knew it was only a matter of time, and there was no way in hell he was going to die because he was asleep when they found him. He shouldered his book bag and bent down to tighten his laces. 'Better safe then sorry.'

It took him five minutes to traverse the jungle gym of broken metal to get back to ground level. He finally hit the ground and immediately held his breath. His eyes scanned his surroundings. He finally decided he was safe and took a step forward. nothing. another step. still nothing. He was satisfied, time to go. The second he moved he heard a very loud screech. "What the??" he didn't have time to finish swearing before a quintuplet of zombies came barreling around the corner. Guess it really was time to go.

He spun on his heels and ran a block or two before he turned a corner. He saw a small hardware store a block down the way. "That could be useful" He got the lead out and put everything he had into his sprint. He could have died of happiness when he saw another man sprint into the shop and decapitate a walker with a shovel. He wasn't alone! He had no tiem to celebrate now, he had to make contact and finish off the conga line of corpses behind him.

He skidded to a halt behind the other man, he had his back to him. He grabbed the man and spun him around. Gasping, he said, "...Salem...Wales...Zombies... help..." He finished this thought by pointing to the zombies on his trail.

Jered

Jered was startled by the sudden appearance of another man, but that would have to wait for now, as there was the matter of the Walkers. Five of them and two of us, this hardly seems fair, then again, nothing really seems fair anymore. Jered didn't think, there was no time to think, he had to help this Salem guy. The walker closest to him must have been a rather old man when he was alive, he was hobbling along, barley keeping up with the others, Jered thought this one wold be easiest and therefore attacked this one.

He struck the walker with the shovel in the back of the leg, knocking it to his knees. He then ran at the beast and kneed it in the chin with all him might, sending the elderly undead flying back towards to the ground, cracking his head on the cold hard ground. He decapitated it just to make sure it was finished.

"One down!" Jered shouted to Selem with an air of triumph in his voice, but now he had to deal with the others. Jered picked his next opponent, it was a zombie that was about to sneak up on a preoccupied Selem. He smacked it in the stomach with sharp edge if the shovel. The shovel head got stuck inside the zombie, this one was female walker, obviously been undead for quite a whirl as there was quite decomposed. He had to kick her to get the shovel out of the body, it tripped to the ground, Jered kicked her neck to the side, breaking its neck and stopping it the undead in its tracks.

As Jered turned to see how Selem was doing, but that moment one of the other zombies knocked Jered down, and got atop of him, try to take a bite from his face, Jered was resisting at the moment, but he didn't know how much longer he could resist.

Salem breathed a sigh of relief when the man jumped into action. He took a five milisecond breather and followed his peer's footsteps. The other man had begun combat with a nearby walker. Salem growled and took after a younger looking female zombie. It was probably a pretty attractive human, but being that it was missing half of its face, that was long ago. He readied his stick behind his head for a baseball swing. The second he got in range he growled, planted his left foot, and swung with all his might. The zombies neck cracked to the side and it tumbled onto the hood of a nearby sedan. Salem followed the zombies motion. He swung his stick behind his back and barreled the end of it into the walkers left eye.

He was keeping pace with his new friend. "One down" he heard from across the street. Salem spun and searched for another monster. "Same here" he yelled to keep the guy in the know. The guy didn't need the information though, because next thing Salem knew, the man came from behind and butchered a very sneaky zombie that was trying to get the jump on him. Salem turned and nodded in thanks and ran at a new victim. He positioned his stick like a spear, resting on his hip as he ran at his prey. He turned away and shut his eyes as he impaled the zombie through the chest. Only then did he realize this was a mistake. The zombie didn't die, he merely stared blankly at the man who stabbed him in the chest and screamed. Salem growled at his stupidity "Damnit"

Salem pulled with all of his strength and luckily the weapon came out. He spun the stick in a circular motion, partly out of habit, and partly to get the gore off. Once this was done he charged again, this time with a different approach. He jumped off of a downed trashcan and kicked the creature in the face. It fell to the ground with a growl. Salem landed next to it and, with momentum turned the zombies ear into a golfball and smacked it in the side of the head. It's skull caved in and it lied there motionless. Salem wasn't convinced and stabbed it in the head to be sure.

Salem turned to look for his companion and gasped. The man was on the ass end of an ass kicking. Salem took off towards the man. He was only about ten feet away, but Salem knew there was no time to waste. He dove at the zombie that was sitting on the man and tackled it to the ground. The zombie didn't waste any time reacting to the fall and immediately tried to feast on his attacker. Salem reached into his back pocket and retrieved a swiss army knife. In one motion he flipped out the kninfe and jammed it into the demons temple. It immediately stopped moving.

"Wheew."

Salem pulled himself together and got to his feet. He returned the knife to a safe position and pocketed it. He turned to the man and smiled. "Boy am I glad to see you" He said while walking towards him. He wished he had had more time to talk but to his dismay he heard a bone shaking screech. He bared his teeth and turned his head to look back. His eyes widened at the army of hellions that was fast approaching.

"shit..."

Alex stood there amongst the zombies dead corpses, the weight on the chain covered in the crimson blood. She stood there emotionless starring into the emptiness of the alleyway. Alex placed the chain and weight on the floor whilst pulling her ruck sack from her back, pulling a pair of black and red roller skates out, placing her ruck sack on the ground along with the skates, pulling of her combat boots and placing them in her ruck sack, Alex placed on her skates 'Its going to be quicker using these than walking around' she though to herself whilst tightening the strap around her ankle. Pulling herself up from the ground dragging the weight up with her. Throwing the weight of her shoulder as she tied the chain around the belt of her skirt, moving her rifle on her back to sit it more comfortably with the ruck sack on. Once Alex had checked the alley one last time to see if there were any left she set of pushing her feet against the ground hard as she glides down the lanes.

A frown forms her face as she looks around the city, destruction is all that is left. Nothing is the same since the world turned upside down, ever since people had given up on hope, nobody had bothered to fight. Alex had only met a few people who were fighting this but they were all dicks and didn’t know how to aim a gun let alone shoot one 'If your going to hold a gun be prepared to shoot and kill' she smiled at what her farther had told her when she first started to get into guns and how her mum was against her eldest daughter having an interest in them. Alex's body stiffened when she thought of her mum, ignoring the past and looking into the future she just kept moving forward. Skating down the roads looking around for any of the zombies not wanting to get attacked by any of them and most likely turn into one she was always on the look out. Spotting one of them at the end of the road. She immediately came to a halt, pushing her heel into the ground causing her skates and her to stop she removing the chain from her waist pulling the weight from her shoulder 'Might as well have some fun when there is only one' she thought smiling, Alex looked at the lamp post a few inches from the walker. Pushing of against the ground hard, she began to swing the chain above her body when she had enough momentum she threw the weight in the direction of the lamp post. Most would think she would aim for the walker, but due to the gravity the weight would drop causing her to hit walker but not in the head for a clean kill. Still holding on to the chain as the weight and part of the chain tangled around the post, pulling herself forwards with the chain she gained speed when she was finally within inches of it she pulled the chain hard and jumped at the same time, her feet smashed into the head of it her skates giving her more power causing it to fall to the floor. Looking down at the now dead zombie she skated over towards the lamp post pulling the untangling the chain and weigh slinging it back over her shoulder and to her waist once more.

As she was making her way down the road once more she heard the sound of a car, '”Do these people want to die?!” she spat. Alex speeded down the road, noticing two guy fighting five walkers. Digging her heal into the ground, causing her to stop. She watched as the two fought them, watching as each of them worked together and protected each other. “At least some people know how to fight them” she mumbled. When they finally killed all of them she was just going to skate of knowing that they are able to fend for themselves they weren’t going to need her help. Suddenly a piercing screech pierced her ears, wincing as she spotted a group of walkers were approaching them and fast. “Shit, they're so dead!” mumbling as she pulled the rifle from her back. Loading the magazine that contained twenty five bullets in. Wasting no time she skated down towards them as fast as she could, skidding across the ground when she reached them. Taking a deep breath as she attached the rifle to the clip on the straps on her chest. Positioning herself into a bladed-off stance as she placed her finger on the trigger “Names Alex, now if I were you if you have any guns I would use them if you want to live got it?” she told them in a commanding tone. Looking through the scope of the gun, she aimed at one of the closer walkers, squeezing the trigger causing her shoulders to jerk as the bullet hit the walker square in the head, moving the rifle to the left she began to shot more aiming each time at the head.

"Wait!" Akira shouted as the metal ladder was being pulled up. He jumped up and grabbed one of the steps; halting its ascension. "Let go, you bastard!" The baker shouted, red faced, grip strong on the roof.
"Please, I don't want to die!" Akira blurted out before he looked behind him, three runners, mouths messily covered in innocent's blood, sprinting towards him.

The baker paused; stonefaced as he looked at the young man. His fingers slowly slipped and the ladder came crashing towards the ground. The impact nearly caused Akira to fall over, but he quickly got a hold of the ladder and began climbing for his dear life.
As soon as Akira stumbled onto the roof of the bakery, the baker, pulled up the half of the ladder, wrapped a rusted link chain around the ladder and snapped a large lock on. Akira looked up, out of breath, to the baker, his wife, and his small son who must have been only six years older.
"Thank you...so much." Akira said, panting, beads of sweat dripping off the edges of his face.
"Just don't be infected." The woman said rather coldly with a crossbow held between hands. and the small son sitting in her lap.
The child was the first to be infected.
****************************************************************

Akira layed on his back, watched the blue sky, and reached his hand towards the bright sun. With bent fingers he tried to grasp the light but it was always too far from his reach. He sighed, tried to ignore the light in his eyes, tried to ignore the stench of rotten flesh and go back to sleep.
It was surreal. Not the zombies or the shit hitting the fan. Just that the time when one couldn't take a shower for at least a week; life smelled ten time worser then you did.
Weird.

Sleeping was useless now, anyways. He looked ahead at the deceased mother; three metres ahead of him just lying there. The small child jumped off the roof when he turned and the Baker went after him; with the large bloody rolling pin he left behind as the last reminder of his existence. Akira started to tug on his black tie and wondered if he can pull it up so high it'll end up choking himself. He tried it, the first time with the collar, and the second around his bare neck. The velvet tie failed both times. "So much for fitting in." Akira thought as he arranged his tie back normally and went for a swig of water.

As a hand in his small pack brought about an Ipod; he pressed both of the earbuds to his head and scrolled down to The Beatles. He never knew why but it was always the American music from the golden ages that was...paradigm altering. Now that he had learned how to speak and hear english from school; the lyrics sung had meaning. Besides, it was soothing to hear "everything is gonna be alright" in a song when no-one else was willing to say it.
In the middle of the song though he knew something was wrong. There was a sound, not drums, guitar, or bass, but a subtle sound, repeating, over and over again. Slowly, Akira reilized it wasn't part of the song. He pulled out both of the earbuds and quickly scrambled up to his feet. It was a car alarm! He ran over to the edge of the bakery and saw the car blaring and- and survivors! Living and breathing! Fighting too! Three of them!

All the hope lost suddenly hit Akira like a burst of fresh air and rushed him from his lethargic state.
"Hey!" He shouted from the rooftop, jumping up and down, waving both of his hands in the air to get their attention.
"Get to the back of the bakery here! I'll let down the ladder!" He shouted, two hands cupped around his mouth to amplify his own voice.
"Get to the back of the bakery here! I'll let down the ladder!" Akira shouted one more time before turning around and ran towards the ladder. As he grasped the metal, he cursed under his breath. The chain! The lock! His hands grasped the chain and shook it vigorously and viciously but it wouldn't break. Pick the lock? Too much time plus the fact he never knew how to start lockpicking and now wasn't the time to start learning. Akira quickly turned around to find something, anything, that he could use to break the chain.
The rolling pin? Too light, too weak, too woodish. He turned his head to the crossbow in the dead woman's hands. Akira quickly ran over to it and picked up the crossbow. He didn't worry about the woman turning. When she was bitten she shot her own head with that same crossbow as he did nothing and watched. So he knew how to reload it.

Akira layed the front of the crossbow down on the ground and put his foot on the handle on the stirup, the handle at the top of bow, and used his bare hands to try to pull the string up. The string dug in his hand when he managed to get it up a few inches and the pain was unbearable as he let go of the string to save the flesh of his palms. Something was missing but what was it? How did the dead woman pull the string while keeping all five of her fingers? Akira turned around and noticed a glove, a hard brown glove, like something a construction worker would wear. Since it wasn't the time to care about stealing from the dead, he took the glove, wore it, and finally with what strength he could muster, drew back the string with the strength of two hands.
He flicked his wrist viciously as soon as the string was drawn back, pain coursing through his gloved hand. Akira picked up one of the bolts, loaded it, and looked down the scope. The crosshairs took aim directly on one of the rusted chain links, the vulnerable area, a small indent that marks where a steel piece has circled and connected. Akira pulled the trigger, sent the bolt flying, broke the rusted chain and sent it flying. The ladder thundered to the ground and Akira dropped the crossbow in joy. He laughed in disbelief before he ran up to the other end of the ladder.
"Come on, get up!" He shouted then extended an arm forward to pull up the survivors climbing the ladder. It was surreal. Weird.

Jered

Jered turned as he heard the sound of a new person approaching, it was a girl this time, the first one he had see in a long time, well, alive anyway. Upon her arrival she shouted "if you have any guns I would use them if you want to live got it?” Jered remembered that he had a handgun that he found 4 days ago from a firearms dealer, he had a full clip of ammo and 26 spares in his backpack.

He hurled his backpack to the ground and opened it, and heeding the advice of the Alex girl, he strated rummaging through his bag, under the cup ramen and bottles of water until finally he found the hand gun at the bottom of hes bag. This would have been the first time he had used the gun, he didn't want to before as he didn't want to raise awareness to his were abouts. He lifted the gun and shot one of the walkers in the throat, it fell to the ground, but Jered didn't know if it was dead.

Then, another new voice, from atop the bakery, a friendly sounding voice calling down to us "Get to the back of the bakery here! I'll let down the ladder!" as soon as he heard the voice he was overjoyed.
"Get to the back of the bakery here! I'll let down the ladder!" he shouted again, Jered could tell that he was also pleased to see some other living humans.
"Hey guys, if we wanna live, we have to get to the back of that bakery!" Jered said to the others, with an ounce of anguish in his voice. They ran down the small Ally as fast as there legs could carry them, down the Ally there was a turning and around that corner was a dead end, except for the ladder reaching up to the roof. They turned at the dead end, looking up at this new man trying to break a chain to get the ladder down.

Zombies were now coming around the corner, we were shooting them as they were coming, this was getting too risky. Just as Jered started to think the ladder would never come down, it thundered down to earth, hitting a zombie as it fell.
"Come on, get up!" the man on the roof shouted, Salem went up first as he didn't have a gun to fend off the threat of the undead, then it was Alex's turn, then when she was safely up, Jered climbed up, shooting any infected that came to close to the ladder as he went up. The man on the roof helped him onto the roof. They all worked together to pull the ladder up and when it was as far up as it could be, they wedged a metal pole between it to stop it from falling down to earth.
Exhausted and panting, they sat on the roof, fully aware that there was something like 50 walkers, maybe more on the streets below.
"I'm Jered..Jered Harris, nice to meet some other survivors" Jered said, with a smile reaching across his face"I know that i wouldn't have made it if it wasn't for you guys."

Once Salem was safely on the roof he helped the others to get to safety, and pull the ladder up. Once they were all safe and together on the roof he sat on the ground, tired. He sat with his head between his legs panting. He was tired, he must have sprinted for a good five minutes. "Ugh" He grumbled. He picked his head up to inspect the other survivors. They all seemed capable. At least there was that. If he had been stuck with a bunch of lazy people, or people unfit for zombie combat, like the elderly, he might be a bit more worried. But there was power in numbers, and He liked his odds more in this group.

He had almost lost hope until today. He was getting tired, he was getting hungry, and he was getting bored. When you get bored, you start thinking, and when you start thinking, nothing good happens, especially in this situation. He didn't need to dwell on his family now, all he knew was that he had to get out of here.

He inspected his trusty lacrosse stick. He remembered when it was brand new. Two years ago, those were the days. He was living large in Canada. He played for a campus lacrosse team and they had bought him a new stick as a welcome gift. He missed them, and wondered if they were ok. The stick that used to be painted navy blue, was now stained red. He left the blood on it. It helped him not to think of his canadian friends when he saw it. He didn't want any reminders. Aside from this, it was in good shape.

The man he met on the street, once he was done restraining the ladder, spoke up. "Im Jered...Jered Harris." Jered Harris...

He remembered on the street the woman with the gun had told them her name was Alex. The man who saved their ass didn't say his name, but he knew that was coming soon enough. Again, He liked his chances.

Alex fell backwards landing on her back, panting from skating most of the day then fighting, 'Note to self don't climb up stairs with skates one' she thoughts smirking to herself.
Sitting up to look at each of the guys realising that she was the only girl, letting out a soft groan as she fell back onto her back looking up at the sky “Girls these days need to learn how to defend themselves” she mumbled loud enough so the guys could hear.

Pulling herself up so that she was standing. Digging the heel of her skate into the ground to stop her from moving. Placing her slim fingers around the clip connected the rifle to the straps on her chest. Unclasping the rifle from her chest, letting a sigh of relief out as the weight left her chest. Placing the rifle on the ground her ruck sack soon following. Tugging the chain and weight off from her waist she let her body relax. “Nice to meet you Jered ” she asked looking towards him her eyes showing no emotion as she looked at him, looking other towards the guys who let the ladder down and the guy who was with Jered. “Im Alex, Alexis Blake.” She said with an emotionless face. Bending down to the ground, where she layed her rucksack. Pulling a new set of bullets out to reload the magazine on her rifle. Picking the rifle up from the ground. Slowly removing the magazine from the holder noticing she had not used that many bullets. Opening up the new pack of bullets, loading each one into the magazine carefully.

When she had finally finished loading magazine back into the rifle, Alex undid the straps on her roller skates, let out a sigh of relief as her feet relaxed. Placing her skates back in the bag and pulling the combat boots out. Lacing them up as she placed them on. Looking down at the military badge on her top that her farther had given her to remember him by “Dad” she spoke.

Akira sat upon the floor with his uniform, sweaty and amazed all at once, as he looked at the other three survivors. The first man, Jered, was the first to introduce himself and Akira even had to remark how big, in general he was in comparison to himself. The other guy, yet to introduce himself, seemed even older. "Girls these days need to learn how to defend themselves” a voice said, and Akira was reminded of the Baker's wife, who's body still layed decaying on the roof with them. The last survivor, a girl, introduced herself as Alexis Blake, and both of their light blue eyes met. Her's were more...stoic while Akira's were filled with hope and promise; slightly glancing over her red and black clothing before sheepishly looking away. How she was so well armed, with a rifle and bayonet combination, where she got it, was beyond him but it had to prove effective with those skates.

"I still can't believe there are others." He remarked, with surprise and a wide grim, looking at each person in amazement. His hands grasped the crossbow on the floor and he pulled back the string with his gloved fingers. After pulling back the string, he set the crossbow aside, and knelt towards the other survivors.
"My name is Akira Yoshida. It's nice to meet you." He said his formal greeting, slightly bowing, and immediatly straightened up.
"God, this is amazing!" Akira shouted, a smile flashing on his face, and wiping his slightly watery eyes.
"Right. Uhhh...we need to move. Away." Stating the obvious.
"No one should be standing straight or else the zombies would probably follow us from the ground" He quickly said, turning his head back to the body of the wife, and carefully removing the strap around her body to unveil a quiver filled with bolts. Akira wrapped it around his own body and then loaded a bolt on the crossbow. He started to crawl away before turning back to the group and motioned for them to go with him with a wave of his hand.
"A roof is no place to stay on." Akira whispered back to them; hoping sometime before they get off the string of buisness' connected to one another a plan would be formed.

Salem Wales

Salem had forgotten to introduce himself. He shrugged and sat up. He looked at all the others and how well equiped they were. It seemed like you needed a projectile weapon to survive this after seeing these three in action. He wondered how he managed to live for so long in this hell. Alex stood up on her... rollerskates? Salem decided to let it go, he was sure she had a logical reason for them. To each his... or her own. She said that girls needed to learn to defend themselves. That, while a bit bitter, was very true. Salem had seen many a zombie who was probably a valley girl idiot who got eaten because she didn't know the difference between the sharp end of a knife and the handle. Salem nodded in agreement. Everyone seemed to be getting prepped to move on. 'good,' Salem thought.

He looked over the group. They were all ready and willing. They were all combat ready and armed to the teeth. He evaluated his stash, and realized he didn't have much to offer the team. He was sure he would find something usefull he could do, but until then he would just pitch ideas and see where it went. The other man stood up and bowed to the group. 'how nice' Salem joked. The man introduced himself as Akria Yoshida. He seemed pretty stoked to have the group with him. Salem was too, but this guy was practically shaking with excitement. He started rambling a bit but it was fine. Akira took a quiver of arrows off of a corpse in the corner. Salem swallowed a bit to keep his cool. 'thats nasty'

He finally stood and stretched his arms. He heard a satisfying crack in his back and returned his arms to his sides. "sorry to keep you guys waiting, I'm Salem Wales" He said. He quickly moved on from that topic and walked towards the edge of the roof. The alarm had shut off, but the zombies were still gathered. Salem strolled over to the dead woman who had the crossbow bolts. He started to form an idea. He turned to the group. "Uhm, guys... are you ready to run, cuz I have an idea," he said with a sly smile.

Jered

Jered looked over the side of the building at the group of walkers down on the ground, most were reaching up trying to reach the roof, but, as none of them were tall enough, this was useless. Some of them were feeding on the zombies that he and Salem had killed before they came up to the roof. Jered turned and giggled under his breath, he found the walkers trying to get up slightly funny, just now utterly useless they are when there prey wasn't directly infrount of them made him laugh. Snapping out of that trail of thought, he looked at the time on his phone, 12:41, another 19 minutes until the next news update on the radio.

Jered listened to the man on the roof introduce himself, Akira, it was obvious that he overjoyed to see other survivors, armed survivors who could help him, This made Jered smile more, the fact that people needed him and that he was helpfull for the first time in months made him happy. He watched him turn and walk to the dead woman. After Akira stopped talking, Jered put his attention back to his phone, there was no new news updates, and he had no new messages. He was borough back to reality by the Salem guy talking.

"Uhm, guys... are you ready to run, cuz I have an idea" said Salem. 'An idea?' he thought, smiling and putting his phone back in his pocket, 'what possible idea can he have, there seems like theres nothing we can do.' looking around at the others it is clear they had no idea what he was talking about, he turned and looked over the side at the group of zombies again, biting and clawing at the building, there really was nothing he could think of doing that would get them out of there, so he had to ask.

"Uhm, Salem wasn't it?" Jered asked, standing up to talk to his new companion "Whats your idea? If its gunna get us out of here its worth a shot" he smiled at Salem, eagerly awaiting the answer to his question.

Alex stood there nodding as the two remaining guys introduced themselves , nodding as they each told them their names. Watching as Akira pulled the strap from the women's corpse. “Point proven” she mumbled. Looking around the area, glancing towards the roofs and the ditches between them. “What ever your idea is, It better not kill us or attract attention” she said harshly, pulling the hair band from her wrist and placing it around the top of her fingers. Pulling her hair back into a pony tail which reached the bottom of her back, placing the hair band around the hair tightly to keep it secure.

Glancing back over towards the ditches between the buildings, she gave off a rather creepy smile “Now I know you said run but were on top of a building” She said with the smirk on her face.

“So anyone up for some parcor by jumping over the buildings?” she staid excitedly. Looking over towards each of the guys as she was practically buzzing and jumping getting ready to run, picking her ruck sack up from the ground and placing it around her shoulders on top of her rifle.
Turning to Salem “Now what ever you idea is I’ll be quite happy to help as long as those things die”
she said looking over the edge looking for area's that are not occupied with some zombie people. Noticing the sly smile on his face she couldn't help but laugh. Turning to Jered who seemed to have a phone? What use is a phone, well except for the time but what is it good for? “Um.. Jered, whats the phone for?” she questioned being rather interested in what he plans on using it for.

Jered

Jered looked up at Alex, getting his phone out once again and looking at it when talking, "My phone?" he said, not noticing that he was doing anything out of the ordernary "Oh, well I use it for the time, in some places there is still places where i can use the internet and every hour on the hour the americans are sending radio broadcasts over here, with news and updates about the state of the country, it kinda keeps me sane to know that people still care about Japan. I thought you guys would have known that." Jered smiled at her.

He looked over the side once again, his skin was crawling from the noice the zombies were making, it was a discusting moaning noise, and the noise of there finger nails scraping against the glass and bricks, he didn't like it one bit.

He was getting anctious now, he was in a group and one of them had a plan, Jered has always hated being kept waiting, and he also hate feeling trapped. He noticed a small bit of woon on the roof, not big enough to be used as a weapon, he picked it up and dropped it over the side towards the zombies, it his one on the head but it wasn't detured from trying to get to the group. Jered turned to face Salem to hear the plan.

Salem had still been formulating the details of his plan. Where they would go, how they would get there, who is in front, who is in back. He had been standing in silence for a while with his arms crossed. This helped him think better. He smiled once all the pieces went together. People behind him, he thought it was Alex and Jared, were talking. He turned away from the corpse and clapped his hands loudly to get everyones attention. He began to explain his plan, feeling like an army general giving a briefing.

"AAll right team." he began. "Heres what I'm thinking." he began motioned to the body. "I'm going to grab the dead woman and throw her over the ledge, Hopefully, this will keep the bastards down there busy while we high tail it across the roofs to get somewhere safer." He looked at the group to gauge their reactions. he didn't want to seem like he had it all figured out, because he didn't. But he needed to instill confidence in the group if this was going to work. "I think we should run in a straight line, jumping from rooftop to rooftop" the buildings were close enough together that this shouldn't be a problem. "I'll be in front, following me will be Jared, we will be taking down walkers that are in our way, if there are any. Alex will be behind us, tagging any walkers that come from either side with her rifle, I don't think there will be any, but better safe than sorry." he turned to Akira. "Akira?" he asked. "You will be at the end of the line with your crossbow, watching our back." He looked a few buildings down the way and saw a fire escape. "After a couple of buildings we will stop and judge the danger of hitting the street from there. We don't have an endless supply of buildings and we need to get somewhere fortified, I'm thinking a government building, bank, or electronics store with a gate. Maybe a jail." He knew they couldn't stay on roofs forever and this was the only thing he thought could work. He wasn't sure if they would take the plan well, but he didn't care. He said his piece.

"Anyone have any comments? feedback? complaints?" he asked. He sat down and waited for anyone to speak up.

Jered

Jered was very quite as Salem spoke, taking in every word of his plan, he liked what this guy was saying and could tell that Salem had put his all into the plan, it had a formation, most people would just have said 'Jump across and hope for the best' But this guy had really thoght it through. This guy is really worth traveling with. After Salem finished talking, Jered was slowly knodding his head in agreement. He was looking and examening the gaps between the buildings and Salem was right, the gaps we're big enough to jump across and if we were in a formation it really could work. Jered was in deep thought, rubbing his chin to help him think and he had a reply for Salem.

"I say we do it." Jered announced to Alex and Akira "I mean, this is obviously a well thought out plan and i think we should give it a go, at least we will be away from them down there." Jered looked back to Salem "And i would like to compliment you on the formation part, most people wouldn't have bothered." Jered was smiling at him.

Jered got his phone back out of his pocket to once again check the time, 12:45, 15 minutes until the next news update on the radio. He put it back in his pocket, at looked back at Alex and Akira.

"So, what do you guys think?" Jered went back to lean over the edge to look at the zombies in the street below "You think it could work?"

Alex nodded at Salems idea. "Im up for it. But like you said i don't think there will be many Zombies up here so the way we escape is a good idea" she said giving a slight smile.
Pulling the rifle from her back once more making sure that the bayonet was still attatched. Checking the magazine to make sure it was fully loaded before they moved out. ".., I'm thinking a government building, bank, or electronics store with a gate. Maybe a jail." One of the bits that Alex heard about where to run that mainly stuck out to her was the goverment building and the gates. Thinking to herself as she tryed to think of somewhere that would be well suited for them. 'Wherever were going i need a shower' she thought to herself.

"Hey my dads in the military and he is stationed close to here. Where he is staying has a high security system and a tall gate as well as a fence so its hard to climb over and on each level door of the house can be opened through pass code recognitiong. Would that be any good?" she asked trying to remember details about the house. 'Well if were escaping might as well use my brain' she thought to herself.

Akira's eyes were focused on the deceased body of the baker, not because it could have turned, keeping in mind her head was in pieces, but of the plan. This woman killed herself so she wouldn't be turned into a walking corpse and be eaten by those... things. How they were just going to throw her body over the edge was just spitting on her spirit. It was despicable. Evil. Terrible. All of which pained Akira to say the following:

"Ok."

He barely whispered and nodded his head in agreement with the ultimatum. Akira bit the inside of his lip knowing full well that she needed a proper burial but this wasn't the time or place. The shuffling zombies, growling, practically begging for their flesh, was enough to remind him that the luxury to be good was gone. Everyone wants to live, especially the high school student, even if it meant doing this. There was a cross thought that struck daggers to his skin but he pushed it away. The trade was at least good: a little humanity in exchange to still be human.

With one hand gripped on the delicate ankle of the dead woman, he pulled the woman to the edge of the building, and looked down to the crowd of the rotten faces clammoring for their meal. The student dropped the heavy crossbow that was causing strain in his one arm and untied the satin black tie. Akira started stretching his hamstrings and calves; nervous but dedicated to what would happen.
"Any time." He said, taking out a pair of earphones from his pocket, and stuffing one into his right ear. Akira double checked his supplies in his small pack and the number of bolts in his quiver: Fifteen, sixteen if you included the arrow already loaded into his crossbow. Casting a side glance to Alex, he hoped that the base hasn't gone AWOL, or been overun.

Salem nodded at everyone as they accepted his plan. They all knew what they were getting into, and knew what it would take to survive. The girl, Alex had said that they could all go to a military installation she thought was heavily fortified. Salem nodded at this as well. "Once we get to a safer place than this we can make our way there, but youd have to lead the way." he said as he pushed himself from the ground. He wiped his hands on his jeans and walked to where Akira had dragged the body. Standing there and looking down at the horde waiting for their next meal, Salem understood the depravity of this plan. He was basically feeding a human being to animals so they could get away. Salem dropped his head for a second. "We've got to do it"

Salem looked at Akira. "I need help" he asked solemnly. He grabbed the wrists of the woman and nodded towards the heels. All they needed to do was throw her over and get the hell out of there. easy right? It would have been. If this were a video game, or if it were an animal. But it wasnt. This was a human being, this woman had a family, this woman had a life, and now that it was over, why did Salem have the right to feed her remains to a bunch of demons? He didnt know the answer to this, all he knew was that it had to be done. As he waited for Akira to assist him he closed his eyes and breathed. "Like ripping off a band aid, close your eyes, and do it fast. At least that was the plan

Jered watched as Salem and Akira picked the body up and dumped it over the side of the building, the lifeless body tumbled down the side of the building to the crowd of zombies waiting below. In his mind Jered understood that this was a bad thing and that they where basicly feeding a person to those savage beasts, but he didn't feel bad, 'This is survival of the fittest, and the fittest was us, up here on this rooftop' Jered Thought to himself 'If she was strong enough to live, that she would be alive helping us now'. Jered watched over the side as the body his the crowed, he was curious on if they would actually nosh on the dead body. It hit the crowed and they started eating her, weather it was because they were hungry or because they just don't care but they were taking the bait.

Jered looked over to the other building that they would soon be jumping across, this seemed too good to be true, soon they would have escaped from here and according to Alex be locked away in a cosy military base. The thought of a warm, cosy, clean place made Jered smile there and then, there was an air of excitment that Jered could not explain if he wanted too, but there was no time for that now, They have to act now!

"So, Shall we go be going?" Jered said to the others with a smile on his face, this must have looked weird to the others but Jered just wanted to be off this horrid roof. Jered, still smiling got into formation behind Selem, Alex was behind Jered and Akira was taking up the behind. Jered was so happy to start moving again, he could hardly hold in his excitment.

Alex thought about the route to her father military apartment down town trying to memorize each route via the back lanes and which ares were normally not zombie fested area. Nodding to Salem "Yea sure i've memorized most of the routes there anyway" she said with the words rolling off her tounge.

Watching as the guys pushed the corpse of the women off the edge of the building she couldn't help but feel bad for her, loosing family that she would of cared about and then died for nothing. Shaking her head to get all these thoughts away 'Alex you became emotionless for a reason' she thought. Attatching the rifle on to her straps around her chest as she made her way over behind Salem and Jered, pulling back the reload on the rifle as it shifted in her arms showing her that the cartridge had been changed and there was now a bullet present. " Lets get this show on the road" she spoke with no emotion whilst pulling her rucksack up slightly on her back.
