XXXThe ancient myths immortalized within the curves and ridges of stone, legends left behind under direction of higher beings like ever-lasting footprints of the past, tell unimaginable tales of the Gods and Goddesses who ruled the Earth and then some. They describe such deities that were to be worshiped by the mere, powerless mortals for their immense control over everything from the wide, endless sky to the most minuscule grain of sand.

XXXPerhaps the most famous interpretations of sacred tales and fables derives from the Greek and Roman cultures, people from all over the world becoming entranced by the fantastical world of the ancients. Stories of kings who could turn all things to gold with a simple touch, or notions of three-headed dogs guarding the gates to hell would play at the imaginations of listeners without a doubt. Yet, as the modern world becomes increasingly fickle with their beliefs, science and reasoning overruling the incomprehensible, many choose to abandon such concepts for a truth that is more easily digestible. How foolish of the contemporary mind to hold vital mythology with such little regards.

XXXNo one is entitled to believe in the ancient Greek and Roman deities more than the living, breathing evidence of such supreme beings: the offspring of the gods. More specifically, rather, the half-mortal children of the gods and goddesses. Given the appropriate epithet of "demigod," the title directly implies just what these people truly are- the product of fortification between the divine beings of legend and the transient individuals of the concrete world. They walk among their fellow Earth-dwellers with ease, blending in and giving no indication of a realm that belongs to only them and would surely cause an uproar in the science-loving community.

XXXOnce discovered, the young demigods are ushered away to places where they may finally be in company of their own kind. Little by little they learn just why they are the way they are, and are taught to be comfortable in the skin which their godly parent had given them. They settle into a society that can direct them in the way that they need to be taught, unlike the populations that have led them to feel out of place. For the children of the Roman gods? Why, it's Camp Jupiter for them.

XXXWhile a relative peacefulness - the term being utilized loosely - has come to fall upon New York City and its Gifted inhabitants, most spending their days attempting to stay out of the limelight and avoiding the possibility that they be listed in the Gifted registry, a malignant force has come to threaten their harmony. Rumor has it that a murderer is in their midst. While this killer seems to have a penchant for offing those who are on the bottom of the food chain, or rather, the people who fall through the cracks of society - the homeless, the drunken fools, the unknown teenage runaways, and otherwise - it becomes very clear that there is a common element that links them together. Every single victim is a Gifted.

XXXRecently, the appropriate entitlement of serial killer has been accepted by even those such Gifted who carry themselves with skepticism. All corpses left behind by the killer share the same gaunt and cadaverous appearance, as if their souls were drawn from their very bodies, and the autopsies that return to authorities do little to help pinpoint the true cause of death. Like a ghost in the night the killer comes and goes, playing Grim Reaper, stealing the last breaths of the innocent, and leaving absolutely nothing behind. Not even one measly fingerprint. Though, what's it to police and media? After all, the killer isn't harming the good people of New York City, but rather, the unimportant.

XXXUndeniably imperiled by the sudden appearance of an agent of evil, the Gifted find themselves in a predicament where they can only rely on their own kind. With no one else willing to stand up for a trivialized peoples, a small group of particularly brave Gifted, most members young, determined, and debatably foolish, has stepped up to the plate. These individuals, fed up with the fear that has come to lace itself into the hearts of faultless Gifted, come together on their own accord, seeking others with the same goal to eliminate this threat. However... whether they succeed is in the hands of fate.
