The Ak'teian are a draconian race from an acnient offshoot of the Tythens. The split happened hundreds of thousands of years ago and each race has since developed separately. The draconian take on a more humanesk appearance then their brother race. They Ak'teian are a relatively peaceful race. They are very capable fighters but rarely wish to enter warfare with other races or themselves.. The race is of an equal intelligence of humanity, but they attain a more tribal like society then the humans. They are viewed as uncivilized beasts in modern times but it is unfair to call them so.
They maintain a tribal society divided among 7 clans. The 7 clans are lorded over by a single ruler known as the Emperor or Empress. The Ak'teian do not have much regard to others borders. Each clan has a certain land of their control and the landmass is cut up among the clans. While conflicts do break out among clans it is rare for these to advance to much more then disgruntled feelings. When a conflict can not be decided upon the ruler may step in and simply choose who is right or the more popular trial b duel. The reigning Emperor has complete control over the clans with each clan chief acting as an adviser. Despite this each clan are different and they do not always like each other. Sometimes in times of weak rulers the clan system breaks apart. Each clan chief declaring himself or herself king. These wars have never ended well but the clan system has never broken entirely.
The Ak'teian are powerful hunters and carnivores. However they refrain from attacking intelligent races. Each intelligent race is considered sacred in it's own right and thus must never be consumed as prey. The Ak'teian have always been on rough terms with humanity. Humans being territorial to an extreme would sometimes hunt down Ak'teian who ventured too close to their kingdoms. Only rarely did these ever break into open warfare though. For a long time however the two races had communicated and shared relatively good relations. However in recent years with the growing xenophobia among humanity and it's king has caused great distress in the Draconian race. Envoys have been increasingly killed and all relations have deteriorated to nonexistence. It has even gotten to the point that the human cities and their lands are avoided in fear of being killed by humans. With the rise of General Zalith however the Draconian race has found itself increasingly on the run. The clans have grown distressed and slowly began to increase the ties to themselves and become more reclusive. The current emperor was a very intelligent draconian. He did what he could and successfully tied the clans together again. He was greatly loved and admired by the Ak'teian of all clans. A very rare and difficult task to accomplish.
Shortly before the complete rise of General Zalith, a small army commanded by General Zalith fell upon the sacred home of the Emperors. In a short but bloody fight the emperor and his family were all murdered save his youngest daughter, Hijian. She was only 7 at the time but the event gave her the steel she would need later in life. She was quickly crowned as Empress after a mournful burial of the Emperor. The Ak'Teian have since disappeared from their traditional grounds and are only rarely seen by humans. Much of humanity believes them to be scattered and broken into civil war. However they have built for themselves a city deep within the Dwarvic Mountains and our readying for war.
Empress Hijian
Empress Hijian is very young, She is 17 but one would never know it. She acts like a natural born leader and has won the respect and love of her entire people. She took the throne at the age of 8 and has had a very difficult time ruling. However she has overcome all obstacles and united the clans. She is a kind ruler and under her the Ak'Teian people have prospered in their new home. However they dream of a day when they can return to their homelands and not be hunted by the humans out of fear.
Hijian is kind, but this does not mean she is not hard. In fact she is like steel, She knows how to lead her country well, by fire and steel if need be. She is extremely intelligent and has the mind of a tactician. She is as of yet unmarried though, Much to the horror of her advisers. She is also the commander and chief of the now well trained and large Imperial Army. She has informats in the varying nations and has heard about the conflict that will soon start with the humans and the Tythens. The whole city is abuzz with the promise of a return back to their original lands.
