Name:
Viserya Luisant-Leger
Age:
Viserya is seventeen years old.
Appearance and Build:
Viserya has almost translucent, pale skin and despite being quite tall at her 5'8'' she has a small frame and her curves are barely noticeable. Her posture is always straight and her face only hints emotions making her appear almost like a living doll. The dresses she wears are lavish and made only from the finest materials.
Personality:
When talking about Viserya the words emotionless and distant are commonly used. Her persona can be described as mysterious. But that's it it's just a persona, a mask she puts one to make everyone believe she is the divine ruler the entire Empire of Espoir believes her to be.
In truth Viserya is a scared teenager not quite ready to rule but also too stubborn to let everyone make decisions instead of her. She is incredibly hot headed, impulsive and even a bit manipulative but if you said any of that in public you would get laughed at for the Viserya everyone knows is the epitome of grace and timidness.
It's hard for her to lead this double life and rule so she is constantly on the verge of breaking.
Where they live:
Viserya lives in the Empire of Espoir. She spends most of the year on on the main island Esentiel in Portuaire. The months in which the equinoxes and solstices occur she spends in the sanctuary on Sacre Ile.
What/ who they are:
Viserya, also know as the Empress of Light, is the ruler of the Empire of Espoir. She is the third ruler of the Leger dynasty.
History:
Viserya was born in the summer to Emperor Belor II of the Leger dynasty and his second consort Rinette Luisant. Her mother passed away at childbirth. She looked so tiny and frail that the medics predicted she won even make it through the night. She survived thanks to Mi-Hyun, a wet nurse from Anasai which is a publicly unknown reason to why, when trading, the Anasai pay lower tax rates.
She spent her entire young life confined inside Castle White. When she was six she followed some of the servants' children down to the bridges to play to find out her father had everyone in the city looking for her and already started accusing Mediterraneans' of kidnapping his precious daughter. From that day to when she was thirteen she hasn't ventured outside the castle walls. It was then that she realized just how important she really was and that the weight of the entire kingdom will one day be resting on her shoulders. She was adored by her father who was willing to give her anything except the carefree childhood she desperately needed.
Belor II was killed by what was rumored to be an assassin from the Mediterranean kingdom. She was crowned soon after at the great ceremony on the summer equinox. Having just turned fifteen Viserya was not remotely ready to rule. So her first desision as Empress was mindless and driven by revenge. Not paying any attention to her counselors and the Great Council she launched an attack on the Mediterranean kingdom. There was no new news of the troops for nearly three months. The the Great Council was just about to pronounce Viserya incompetent of ruling for sending of thousands of men to their deaths when the navy lead by Admiral Marcoux returned with news of victory.
They had surprised the locals and easily took control of the peninsula that belonged to the Mediterranean kingdom. The new conquered area was made into collonies. The natives have been named Roux because of their red priests and were made to leave their ways of witchcraft and wizardry. She made worshiping the Mediterranean Lord of Light forbidden and was pronounced Empress of Light. (And by she it is meant the Great Council because Viserya was still just a fifteen year old girl mourning her father's passing.) Her last names meaning gleaming light only made the cult stronger and she was excepted as the divine ruler.
More than two years have passed since her fathers death and Viserya Luisant-Leger is no longer as foolish and rash as she used to be. She is finally using her voice and ruling the way she wants not how the Great Council tells her to. She is fighting to repress her temper but the more she keeps bottled up the closer she is to exploding. The fact that she might be falling for the Captain of the royal Light Guard is not making things any easier.
Is it wise to let an unstable girl rule Espoir with the Roux rebelling and talk of Merpeople planing to attack? Only time will tell.
Skills:
Although she can use magic it is far from useful. She can conjure sparks and orbs of light only made to amaze the citizens. Even thought she has almost no fighting skills at all she is not an easy target because there are at least five knights of the Light Guard constantly by her side.
