Name
Ajax Alexander

Age
Twenty-Two

Appearance and Build
Ajax physique can be very intimidating thing to come face to face with. He keeps his dirty blonde hair cut short and has a manicured scruff. He has intensely captivating crystal blue eyes that he is said to have inherited from his father. Broad shoulders, massive biceps and a shredded 7-foot-5, 295-pound frame. His height helps spread out his weight. His strength gives him a rather filled out form, but he is not regarded as being overweight, just muscular. Between horse back riding, sword fighting and training with the gladiators of Salamis the half-god has the body of a god and strength to match. When it comes to his attire you are unlikely to see Ajax dressed in the luxury robes of royalty. He days are most spent training so when he is seen it is commonly clothed in only protective garments around his waist while having a mostly bare upper torso adorned with wrist-guards and belts to hold further weapons and returned to using a shield. Majestic. Every thing about him carries dignity and authority with it; his look is meant to strike, sometimes with terror, and sometimes with gratitude, but always with respect.

What/ Who they are?
He is the King of the Kingdom of Salamis. He like his cousins is known as and often called the half-god because of his godly parent. He is the son of Jupiter and Queen Alcmene. He is also known as the Champion of Salamis as he has remains undefeated in the gladiatorial games held in the kingdom.

Where they live?
Ajax calls the Kingdom of Tripartite his home but he lives in the city capital of Aianteio in the kingdom of Salamis.

Allies & Enemies
The Kingdom of Tripartite has just entered in an alliance with the South Atlantic and North Pacific kingdoms. They don't have any enemies at this time but only time well tell if it stays that way.

Personality

Ajax is a man who would prefer to lead on the battlefield instead of ruling from a throne. He is a born warrior, and most of his skills lie in the area of martial expertise. He isn't a very politically ambitious man, much to his mother's annoyance, and often turns down her frequent urgings that he should remove himself from the forefront of battle and settle into his throne. He has little interest in politics and court intrigue; by his own admission. Political maneuvering is just not his way, he sees himself foremost as a soldier who when confronted with a problem would rather take out his sword and cuts its head off to be done with it all together.

Ajax is a brave, strong and caring man, though at times he can be stubborn, prideful and assertive much like his father Jupiter. He has high levels of inattention, is highly distract-able, impulsive and restless, hyperactive or hypersensitive (ADHA). While somewhat arrogant, Ajax believes in working hard to earn titles and position. Ajax is a man who's respect is earned never given. He doesn't care about what you think your birthright entitles you to if you haven't earned it than you do not deserve it. It is as simple as that.

He's time spent training with the gladiators has given him a great deal of respect for them. It is because of them that he doesn't view people by their social stature but by who they are inside. To him a person is only deemed worthless when they themselves have proven that they have no worth.

Ajax' religious beliefs are a matter of debate. At certain times he seems to deny the existence of any gods, although at other times Ajax seems to acknowledge them as presently involved in his life. He was the last of the four half-gods to actually believe in and acknowledge was the son of his godly parent. It wasn't until Ajax finally accepted who he was that he was able to untap his true potential and really become the son of Jupiter. While he now accepts who he is the fact that the Gods do not have contact with their mortal children makes Ajax resent his father. However, in times when Ajax has been in need of and asked for Jupiter's help has father has never let him down.

He has a strong sense of honor and justice as shown by his great compassion. He greatly cares for his friends and family willing to risk his life to protect or help them. He loves to laugh and make jokes, and would try to lighten up tense situations with his sense of humor. Unlike some of his family members, he never hesitates to speak his mind, which when paired with his rather sword first words later makes him a loose cannon.

During his free time, he likes to play competitive sports and games, especially anything that involves a physical challenge. He is well known to physical participate in the gladiatorial games of the city, much again to his mother's disapproval. His keen intellect and deadly skill combine to make him a true master of war. Despite his somewhat reckless nature, Ajax is a born leader and a great one at that. He has a love for his family, his friends, his People and his Kingdom that is undeniable. Ajax maybe a half-god but at the end of the day he sees himself as nothing more than just a man. He is a man before he is anything else and being but a man he is not perfect. He has many flaws as he is somewhat arrogant and his temper and caring tongue is not one that a King should probably have. However, it is part of what makes him human and despite his flaws he is a good man and a great king.

Skills and Abilities

Combat Prowess

Before his gladiatorial training, Ajax was already an adept warrior, being able to utilize sword and shield with skill as well as having impeccable aim in throwing a spear. His own fighting abilities allowed him to take on four gladiators at one time, even before his own training as one. Following his gladiatorial training, Ajax greatly develops his fighting abilities and eventually becomes the true Champion of Salamis. Ajax is skilled in multiple styles of combat and in use of a cross-section of weapons. Being able to fight with a sword and shield, single-sword, dual-swords and use of the spear, both as a weapon and projectile. He has also used an axe, cestus, hammer, aquila and is extremely proficient in unarmed combat.

Ajax "signature techniques" are;

• Skillfully throwing his sword at his opponent, impaling them. He was told by his instructor that throwing his sword in the arena is equal to death, so he generally throws his sword only when fighting as a Dimachaerus, leaving him with his other weapon to protect himself.

• Jumping towards the opponent (generally he jumps off something) and trying to stab them. He doesn't do this move to often as it is a difficult technique to use. In the times that he has done it thought it has proven to be successful.

Tactical Ability

Altogether, Ajax is a force to be reckoned with in both the arena and on the battlefield. His keen intellect and deadly skill combine to make him a true master of war. He is a skilled strategist and tactician and has knowledge of the strategies used across the lands. These traits, coupled with his bold, proficient tactics have provided invaluable leadership to the kingdom's army, giving them an unblemished record in battle.

Half-god Abilities

Half-gods are relatively stronger, more agile, and more durable than regular mortals, and have more resistance to diseases. As a child of Jupiter Ajax has strong abilities over lightning and the wind. He can send volts of electricity out of his hands without problem. He can control the wind, the older and stronger he gets the more dangerous and powerful the winds become. He can whip the wind at dangerous speeds. Able to summon lightning from the sky. He feel strengthened when in the air, and can breathe in the highest reaches of the atmosphere. Ajax being the son of Jupiter has a god-like strength that out ranks his half-god cousins. Heightened senses and natural aptitude for battle. He has greater battlefield reflexes and the ability to predict where an opponents will strike before they do. Being the son of Jupiter; Ajax holds divine authority over the creatures of the sky as well as weather, having powers that are greater than the children of nearly every other god. Ajax has the power of Aerokinesis, Atmokinesis and Electrokinesis.

• Aerokinesis: The power to manipulate the air.

- Create/generate/increase, shape and manipulate air and all forms of wind from tornadoes, hurricanes, vertical drafts, micro-bursts and other devastating forms of wind. Naturally can also create any less extreme air/wind movement.

- Air Attacks

~ Air Ball Projection: Create and launch spheres of air/wind.
~ Air Beam Emission: Release beams of air/wind.
~ Air Blast: Release air/wind over a specific target area.
~ Air Bolt Projection: Release many low powered projectiles of air/wind.
~ Air Bomb Generation: Create bombs/explosions of air/wind.
~ Air Breath: Discharge air/wind blasts from mouth.
~ Air Bullets: Fire in short sequence over a wide area.
~ Air Infusion: Empower and energize anything touched or used (usually a weapon) with air/wind.
~ Air Wave Emission: Send out a wave of air/wind that repels everything.
~ Expanding Air Bolts: Project air/wind that expands rapidly on contact with an object.
~ Formulated Air Blasts: Release blasts of air/wind in a form of a creature or object.
~ Hand Blasts: Release air blasts from hands.
~ Missile Generation: Create missiles of air/wind.
~ Omnidirectional Air Waves: Send out a wave of air/wind in all directions.
~ Razor Wind: Use air/wind to slice enemies.
~ Reflective Attacks: Release attacks of air/wind that can bounce off of any surface.
~ Scatter Shot: Release air/wind blasts that split into multiple fragments.
~ Sword Beam Emission: Release air/wind blasts from swords and other such bladed weapons.
~ Zap: A tiny short release of air/wind to cause pain or discomfort, usually too low-powered to be destructive.

- Air Solidification, Density Manipulation, and Pressure Manipulation via controlling air molecules.

~ Aerokinetic Constructs, including weapons, walls, armor or allies/servants.
~ Crushing works by increasing air pressure.
~ Vibration Emission works by releasing bursts of compressed air molecules.

- Atmospheric Adaptation: The lungs acclimatize and respirate in/on any gaseous mediums, whether hostile or deficient, users lungs also filter away non-gaseous substances such as dust, asbestos, etc. They can breathe toxic gases instead of oxygen and survive montane, aerial, or terrene air deficiency, which are among the longest and most painful deaths the average human can suffer.

- Electrical Immunity: Body is unharmed and immune to electricity

- Elemental Telekinesis by manipulating the air.

~ Repel projectiles by controlling air vectors.
~ Enhanced Strength/Tactile Telekinesis by using air pressure to lift heavy objects and land harder strikes.

- Enhanced Senses using wind:

~ Enhanced Touch by reading the airwaves and feel any disturbances.
~ Enhanced Hearing by amplifying air molecule vibrations.

- Enhanced Speed by reducing air resistance and utilizing pressurized air for propulsion.
~ Jet Propulsion by using compressed air pressure for supersonic bursts.

- Manipulate the various gaseous molecules within the atmosphere for various effects.

~ Combustion/Explosion Inducement forcing volatile elements to ignite via friction.
~ Deoxygenation by removing the oxygen in the atmosphere.
~ Generate explosive and propulsive energy via nitrogen.
~ Purification of the air by removing hazardous molecules.
~ Rot/Rust Inducement by oxidizing the target's area.
~ Vacuum Creation by removing all air molecules out of the area.

- Various forms of traveling:

~ Aerokinetic Flight: Able to take flight by riding the air currents, by a wind storm like a tornado, and/or self produced air/wind.
~ Air Walking: Can walk on the air, treating it like a solid matter. He can run and move across the air as if walking on the ground, giving them greater maneuverability in his environment.
~ Levitation: Can cause oneself/subjects/objects to hover/float in the air unassisted, allowing the user to carelessly float in the air and prevent their bodies from making contact with the ground below.

• Atmokinesis: He can sense, create, shape and manipulate weather, ie. the meteorological patterns, creating rain, wind, hail, lightning, snow, sleet, fog and temperature changes. This includes the ability to generate various natural phenomena or control the intensity of the weather in highly concentrated (inside room) or vastly extended (continental) areas.

There are four main factors of Weather manipulation:

- Air Manipulation - for wind and related effects.
- Electricity Manipulation - lightning in all variations.
- Thermal Manipulation - make it cold or hot.
- Water Manipulation - rain, snow, fog etc.

- Aerial Adaptation: Able to withstand extremely high or low air pressure (not becoming disoriented or deprived of the normal breathing capacity), and high wind friction; this is accompanied by an innate immunity to the vertigo and/or fear of heights.

- Electricity Manipulation for various electric effects:

~ Lightning Bolt Direction/Electrical Beam Emission: Can summon lightning bolts from the sky or project them from their hands, using them to blind, stun, and/or severely burn their opponents even to the point of death. They can range, from minor to fatal voltage. If enough power is generated he could destroy and/or vaporize matter. Unlike normal bolts of lightning, they could use them as concussive or even piercing forces.
~ Lightning Calling: Has the power to send lightning from the sky that could be used to blind, stun, and/or severely burn their opponents even to the point of death they can range, from minor to fatal voltage.
~ Create electric bursts and/or shock-blasts.

- Environmental Adaptation: The power to survive and adapt to any environment.

- Thermal Manipulation to affect the temperature.

~ Cold Air Manipulation
~ Hot Air Manipulation

- Thunder Manipulation

- Water Manipulation and all of its forms:

~ Cause Droughts
~ Precipitation Manipulation
~ Rain Manipulation
~ Snow Manipulation
~ Blizzard Creation
~ Sub-Zero Rain
~ Vapor Manipulation
~ Cloud Manipulation
~ Cloud Generation

- Weather Generation

- Weather Sensing

Electrokinesis: Can create, shape and manipulate electricity.

- Create/generate/increase, absorb, conduct, shape and manipulate electricity of various intensities.

- Death Inducement by overcharging the victim with electrical currents.

- Electric Pull to pull themselves toward something or to pull things toward them.

- Electrical Wall Crawling: Can crawl, walk, run up walls using static electricity.

- Paralysis Inducement and/or Jolt Inducement.

- Electricity Attacks: Works like the air attacks. May be able to generate enough power to vaporize matter.

- Electricity Solidification: Works like air solidification

- Electrical Constructs, including weapons, walls, armor or allies/servants.

Ajax has been given many gifts by his father. His sword also called The Lightning Sword was gifted to him by his father Jupiter. The Lightning Sword is the divine weapon of Ajax, he uses it to channel His lightning powers. The sword's compacted form is a small cylinder/baton which only at the touch of Ajax will glow and transform into its true sword form. It will revert into its dormant form unless he decides for it to stay in full form.

Ajax was also gifted by Zeus with the Pegasus, a beast no man has ever rode before. He was giving to him after Ajax and his half-god cousins killed the tyrant that once ruled what is now known as the Kingdom of Tripartite. He and his Pegasus have formed a strong bond and Ajax is the only person Pegasus will let mount him. Ajax's winged stallion acts as his noble steed in battle. The stallion is far from tamed and has proven to be unbreakable but it is also loyal and bravely fearless.

So begins...

Ajax, Jon and Amelia

Jon had suggested a small party for there expedition to the North. Ajax had never gone any further than the South Atlantic Kingdom, so as far as what laid ahead he was going basis completely off of what Jon said and thought. So if Jon said that a small party would be best a small party was what it was. His chosen battlemen that he selected to ride with him north were all former gladiators of the arena. His very best. Those that did not go with him were sent off with Jasunr and Castiel to battle the troops of Drake.

Jon didn't appear to be the most confident of guides which worried Ajax greatly. However, he was the only guide they had so Ajax and his men would have to trust the man's instinct and word. When the Mother of Dragons had said she would be joining them Ajax wasn't thrilled about the idea but what could he say. To question the mother was to risk having to answer to her children and Amelia's children were not the kind of children one wished to have to provide answers to.

Ajax hadn't imagined that the North would be so .. swampy. When he pictured the North he had pictured mountains of snow as white as Ghost's pelt and temperatures so freezing cold he'd be able to see his own breath in the air. The Neck, however, was the exact opposite of what he had imagined. The water they trudged through was so murky you could barely see below the surface. Pegasus moved along the left side of Jon's destrier moving in-sync with the equine in front of him. Jon rising a hand into the air had the column come to a halt.

"Dismount, we go on foot from here."

Pegasus whined in protest stomping his right hoof into the swampy earth below him. "Easy, Pegasus." Ajax said dismounting the winged black stallion. When each of the half-gods accepted who they were their godly fathers presented them with two gifts. Weaponry crafted by the god Vulcan himself and a creature. These creatures were not given to be gifts but guardians. The twins of Apollo each had their manticores, Dalila had her hippocampus and Ajax had pegasus. Between half-god and guardian a uniquely great bond was shared. "I'll return soon. Don't go getting caught in any of these sinkholes." He spoke as he rubbed his massive hand on the side of the stallion's neck.

"The swamps of The Neck are treacherous, I've heard tales of whole armies being swallowed up by the bogs. Best we take it slow and careful."

Coming to Jon's side he nodded in understanding. "Well let us pray to the gods that we are not among those men." As his men gathered ready to venture forward Ajax looked ahead at the swampy path ahead. "Lead the way Stark."

Jasunr & Castiel

After the arrival of the Tripartite men the royals disbanded as the first battles of war had come upon them. Word had reached the castle that villages in the far south were being pillaged. Kenna figured this was the act of Moloch and his men as unless Wanehope was capable of teleporting an entire army he couldn't possibly be leading that charge. Separating the Kingdom of Beotia from the Kingdom of Tripartite close to three hundred thousand troops fought for the kingdom. These forces consisted of both a light and heavy cavalry, infantry and archers. The attack had come sooner than expected and there was no time to set up the field artillery that would have been fairly useful in the coming battle. Mounting their destriers, Jasunr with his manticore at his side and his men at his back stormed out of the city on the path to battle.

~~~
"I knew I should have gone to the North"
"I knew I should have gone with your sister."
Jasunr let out a small chuckle as he and the werewolf looked out at the sight before them. His whole life Jasunr had thought his cousin Ajax was the largest man in the world. Until today he would have died believing that was the truth. However, on this day he saw what a true mountain looked like. A savage brute of a man, freakishly tall at least 7 feet in height, and well over 30 stone in weight, was slaughtering helpless village men left and right.
"This cannot possibly be all of Moloch's men. You ride further south with Ajax's men. I shall stay here and take care of ... that beast."
Turning from the horrific scene the continued at the base of the grassy hill they stood on Castiel looked at Jasunr with skepticism. "I hope for your stake you truly are the son of Apollo. For I can see no mere mortal man going up a beast like that and making it out alive."
Jasunr again chuckled looking at the man at his side. "Good luck wolf-man."
"All the same to you half-god." With that Castiel rode away leading Ajax forces away with him. Looking down at his manticore who hungry eyes were deadlocked on the enemy below Jasunr smiled. Lifting his sword to the sun the sword ignited in flames. "Forward!" He yelled as his destrier broke in a cantering racing down the hill to the bloody battle below.
Fog flow heavy through the Neck, as the fluttering of wings broke the silence.
"The swamps of the Neck are treacherous. I have heard tales of whole armies have been swallowed by those bogs. Best we take it slow and careful" said Jon Stark.
"Let us pray to the gods we are not amoung those men." added Ajax Alexander.
"Have not another worry. We will guide you" called a haunting woman's voice through the thickness. Slowly, shadows appeared behind the trees, and a unnaturally tall woman with warm honey skin and an unhuman appeared through the fog.
Her shapely body was covered in a pale silk dress, looking almost like a spirit in the fog that hid her.
Her sharp-shaped eyes housed an ink black pit, so much so that it was near impossibe to know where she was looking, with a blink however the black ink that were her eyes, slid into a small disks in the middle, giving her a more human appearance, as a large spider crawled on to her shoulder.
The woman smiled, her eyes looking to Amelia before turning her attention to the men.
"Allow me to introduce myself," She said and the figures in hidden behind the tree stepped forward, revealing inhuman creatures with long limbs, with black eyes, some kneel down, other skittered in the trees
"I am Queen Tenanye, and we are the Spider Fae of Anansai."
Collaboration between TvAddict13 and Myself
Amelia had never been to the North before this and knew if she ever chose to return that this was not a path she'd be taking again. She had never stepped foot in a swamp and never planned to again. It was fairly humid and little incests buzzed all around her. The water was to murky to see past the surface, although giving the unknown mysteries of what laid beneath Amelia was somewhat thankfully for the murkiness.
Neither Jon or Ajax had wished for her to journey with them to the North but Amelia wouldn't hear it. She could not and would not just sit in the castle waiting with unbearable anticipation to see who returned and who didn't. With one stern look at both men they silenced whatever concerns they had. Ser Barristan had taught her the use of the smallsword at her request. She wouldn't claim to be the best swordswoman in any land but she could protect herself if need be.
When it came time for them to abandon their horses Amelia grimaced at the thought but she didn't speak a word. She had set out to do this of her own free will and she would see it through even if that meant wading her way through the swamplands. Coming to aid her with her dismount Jon offered her his hand which she accepted climbing out of the saddle.
"The swamps of The Neck are treacherous, I've heard tales of whole armies being swallowed up by the bogs. Best we take it slow and careful."
"Well isn't that a thought for comfort." Amelia spoke looking around the marshlands feeling uneasy.
"Let us pray to the gods we are not amoung those men."
As it looked liked they were about to get on the move an old friend from the past appeared. "Have not another worry. We will guide you." Tenanye smiled, her eyes looking to Amelia before turning her attention to the men. "Allow me to introduce myself, I am Queen Tenanye, and we are the Spider Fae of Anansai." Amelia was glad to see her. She hadn't been sure if the fae would reach her queen in time for Tenanye to accompany them on to the North. "It is good to see you again Tenanye. If you can guide us out of here without any of us being swallowed up I would be most grateful to you for it."
Hours later ....
"I was fourteen when my brother sold me to Khal Drogo for the promise of his army. I hadn't wanted to do it but Viserys didn't leave me with a choice. It was either please my brother or risk," Amelia paused for a moment as she could her hear her brother's voice in her head "waking the dragon." She rolled her eyes as she pushed her deceased brother to the back of her mind. Since Tenanye had begun leading the way through the Neck, Amelia and Jon had spent much of the time conversing with one another. It made the walk far more enjoyable to have someone to talk to.
"Anyways, when my brother grew impatient he threatened to kill me so Drogo killed him. A couple of months after my brother my husband to left me. An evil woman used her blood magic to take him from me." She could feel herself getting teary eyed as the memory of her suffocating him with a pillow ran through her mind. She had done it to free him but that did not make her feel any better whenever she thought of it. Fighting but the tears she continued on. "She had done with she did as an act of revenge for what my Dothraki had done to her people. I had had her killed for what she did to my husband. I had her tied to the funeral pyre and my eggs placed around the pyre. It was on that night that I walked into the fire. My people believed me mad. Ser Jorah had tried to stop me but I knew that I had to go. When the sun had risen and the dusk cleared I was alive. Unburnt and unharmed. The mother of dragons."
When her dragons had hatched Amelia had to. She had been reborn and had felt stronger than she had ever felt. The same sensation she had felt when the dragonflame had flooded over her in her dream the night before.
"I would love to say that things after that got better immediately but that just wouldn't be the truth. Having a khalasar of forty thousand men and three newborn dragons to care for was not an easy task. In truth had we not found Qarth we all would have most likely perished in the Red Waste. Qarth wasn't exactly perfect though. I was almost conned by a man for my hand in marriage for the promise of everything when he in truth had nothing. My dragons were also kidnapped by a warlock. Wonderful times." Amelia said jokingly. She noticed she had been rambling on about herself for far to long. "Enough about me. Am sure you've heard enough about me for the timing being. Tell me more about you Stark. Before all of this. Who was Jon Stark?"
"I was fourteen when my brother sold me to Khal Drogo for the promise of his army. I hadn't wanted to do it but Viserys didn't leave me with a choice. It was either please my brother or risk... waking the dragon."
Jon stepped though the mud, careful not to loose a boot as he walked but he turned to Amelia as she spoke. He could see the disgust in her face at the mention of her brother. Jon couldn't imagine Brandon selling him off at fourteen. His eldest brother Brandon was always so fair and noble, very... kingly.
"Anyways, when my brother grew impatient he threatened to kill me so Drogo killed him. A couple of months after my brother my husband to left me. An evil woman used her blood magic to take him from me."
Jon could see the hurt in her eyes, the pain. Like a scarred wound that still stung to the touch. Jon had a few new scars like that of his own now. He wanted to comfort her, he wanted to reach out a hand to her and tell her he understood. That he knows her pain and that it gets easier but he didn't. He couldn't say that because it hasn't gotten easier for him at all. So Jon stayed silent and allowed her to continue uninterrupted.
"She had done with she did as an act of revenge for what my Dothraki had done to her people. I had had her killed for what she did to my husband. I had her tied to the funeral pyre and my eggs placed around the pyre. It was on that night that I walked into the fire. My people believed me mad. Ser Jorah had tried to stop me but I knew that I had to go. When the sun had risen and the dusk cleared I was alive. Unburnt and unharmed. The mother of dragons."
Jon watched as her mood shifted. The sadness was replaced with resolve and strength. The tears were but a memory and in it's place was a fire, that fire that made her captivating emerald eyes shine. Amelia Targaryen was never more beautiful to Jon than when she had that look in her eye. Jon could see now what it was. What endeared him to this woman so. It wasn't just her beauty or her kindness but it was her strength. Strength forged through fire and blood. The Stark's say Winter is Coming and Amelia Targaryen has suffered a winter harsher than most her entire life but she survived and came through it and is stronger because of it.
"I would love to say that things after that got better immediately but that just wouldn't be the truth. Having a khalasar of forty thousand men and three newborn dragons to care for was not an easy task. In truth had we not found Qarth we all would have most likely perished in the Red Waste. Qarth wasn't exactly perfect though. I was almost conned by a man for my hand in marriage for the promise of everything when he in truth had nothing. My dragons were also kidnapped by a warlock. Wonderful times."
Amelia said jokingly.
"Enough about me. Am sure you've heard enough about me for the timing being. Tell me more about you Stark. Before all of this. Who was Jon Stark?"
"Not at all, I could hear about you all day."
Jon replied with a soft smile. He stepped up over a mass of vines and reached out a hand to help Amelia up and over. As the two traversed the vegetation Jon took a moment to scan the area. They were several hours in to the Neck, if they kept up this pace they should be out of the swamps and nearing the eastern coast soon. Jon had chosen this spot in The Neck to attempt to wade through because it was near the shore and would be less thick and treacherous than the heart of it. Jon was impressed however with Amelia's fae queen friend, Tennaye. For a foreigner she was moving through the swamps with ease but then she wasn't human and he assumed her magic allowed her to do so.
Turning back to the beauty on his arm Jon and Amelia climbed down the last of the vine blockage and continued their conversation.
"My story I'm afraid is not as exciting. Less dragons, more snow."
Jon joked as the two walked.
"I grew up the third son of Winterfell. My eldest brother Brandon was groomed to lead some day, my second eldest brother Edrick was groomed to do the same should the worse befall Brandon but not me. No one ever imagined it would come down to me. So I was left to my own devices for the most part. I liked it that way though. I enjoyed the solitude."
Jon could still feel the fresh snowfall on his face as he ran through Winterfell's Godswood. He used to play there for hours. Climbing the trees, talking to the carved faced in the trunks of the weirwoods, pretending he was a wolf on the prowl, freezing the pools of water so he could skate. The memory of his ease of use with his abilities when he was young jolted him from his memory. Jon began to turn away as he had a hundred times before when his power entered the forefront of his mind. Bury it, let the snow hide it like he'd always done. Yet walking with Amelia at his side, her eyes on him he didn't feel ashamed. He didn't feel embarrassed or frightened of the mere thought of his power. It was just like the dreams he'd been having of her. Walking through some distant land or strange place with her at his side and her strength filling him. He couldn't help but smile, just another thing he needed to thank her for.
"You know... I've been meaning to thank you Amelia."
He said.
"For the other night."
Jon's dark eyes, deep and mysterious as the night sky fell on her. He could look at her forever, her beauty was so pure.
"If I would have ridden north that night, I wouldn't have honored my family's legacy, I wouldn't have avenged them. I would have gotten myself killed. A short death for a fool boy."
Jon's voice was husky and heavy with remorse and shame but there was gratitude there too.
"You showed me what was important, you got through to me. Not many can do that. My father used to say that there must always be a Stark in Winterfell and if I had done what I had set out to do that night there may have never been one in Winterfell again."
Jon stopped for the first time, looking at Amelia he stopped walking and she stopped with him. The two orphan rulers born of fire and ice.
"You didn't just save my life that night Amelia. You saved The North. I will reclaim Winterfell, I will bring Wanhope to justice for his crimes and I will take up the ancient crown of the Kings of Winter to save my people. It's all because of you, all because you saved me that night."
Jon broke his gaze and looked down for a moment with the briefest of chuckles.
"I've been meaning to thank you for some time we just... never had a quiet moment what with everything that has been going on. But every time I'd see you or hear your voice or think about you or dream about you I'd tell myself 'Jon, you thank that girl.' So, thank you Amelia."
Tenanye smiled graciously at her old friend as she spoke and gave a simple nod. "This way,"She said with a small gesture of her head and the fae behind her skittered ahead, leading the way.
Tenanye noticed a large man and her curiosity got the better of her, she approached him and an almost avian turn of the head.
"I was not aware human man came as large as you." She said, even though -in height-she wasn't much shorter, but width was something else entirely.
"I don't believe I've had the pleasure." she said with smile revealing bright white teeth behind blood red lips.
"Ajax Alexander. King of the Kingdom of Salamis. The pleasure is mine Spider Queen." Ajax said introducing himself to the spider queen.
"Well I am not you typical mortal man. The son of Jupiter. I am half mortal and half god." Ajax said simply.
"Tell me Tenanye, why do you choose to join us in this fight? While I don't know much about your country one thing that I do know is that your kind doesn't typical leave Anansai. What is it about this fight that peaks your curiosity?" Tenanye drew Ajax's curiosity for more reasons then one. She was an exotic and inhuman beauty. She was a one of a kind sort of creature and that made Ajax's want to known more about her. It wasn't like they didn't have the time to kill.
Tenanye moved about the trees, avoiding too soft bogs that would have someone like Ajax, sinking like a stone in seconds.
"This is not of curiosity, but of duty." She spoke, her Anansai accent thick in her words. "Friend is not a word I use often but when I use it I take great pride in that bond and will do what I can to strengthen that bond." She said and turned her head to him. "Queen Amelia is my friend." She told him. "The fight does not interest me at all, Where it not for Queen Amelia's involvement I wouldn't be here." She said honestly.
"What of your, King Ajax? What is your involvement in this coming war?"
"Wanehope needs to be brought to justice. My involvement in this war will make sure he receives just that." Ajax stated without a second thought behind it.
"I could have gone my entire life never knowing this bastard existed in this world. However, now I do know of him and the acts he has committed and I can't just stand aside and do nothing. Plus it is clear that he means to expand and what is the North today can be Tripartite tomorrow. Best to eliminate the threat now and avoid a problem later." Tenanye nodded. She understood to a certain extent, Anansai was impossible to enter without the 'Spell of Might' or having Fae blood like Amelia but she could understand what it must be like to fear invasion, especially by surprise.
"Understandable." She replied.
~Hours later~
As they spoke, a spider fae skittered up to her, kneeling with it's hands and feet on the ground. Black eyes looking up at her and Ajax, it's mouth opening sideways with fangs protruding from it's maw. "Milady. Khalidorian soliders have an outpost up ahead, we aren't going to be able to sneak pass them without sinking into the bogs."It hissed, it's fangs clicking as it spoke. "Very well, Lividium" Tenanye said and looked at Ajax. "I can sense your power of the elements" She said "We may need them." She told him and asked the Spider fae to alert the others. "Can you thickening the fog, it may buy us some time?"
Ajax nodded as the Spider fae went to warn the others of the enemy that laid ahead of them. "Not a problem." Ajax stated. Building on the thin layer of fog that surround them he manipulated the molecules in the air and the fog in the air became thicker. Moments later the fog in the Neck was thick enough to conceal Ajax's slowly approaching party of soldiers.
Mira and Spartacus had been right to position themselves at the forefront of the castle. Mira along with the archers of her army and archers of the South Atlantic stood upon the wall. Sparatcus lead the cavalry and foot soldiers on the ground, which at the moment were under attack by Moloch's forces.
"Fire!"
Mira commanded and a rain of lite arrows flew down from atop the wall. Ten to twelve arrows being fired every minute. The arrow heads of the Tripartite archers were made from the talons of the Nemean lion and could pierce through any armor, even that of dragonbone. At the same time the arrows flew the trebuchet released and sent dozens of lite boulders flying through the sky.
"Release the lions!"
Along the wall cages were alined holding the Nemean lions that had been brought over from Tripartite. It had been Ajax's idea to train these powerful creatures for the purpose of war. He figured if the North could train dire wolves than the Kingdom of Salamis could train lions. As the lions along with Mira's manticore was released onto the battlefield they ran pass there alliances and tore fangs and claws into their enemies.
Mira wondered where Jasunr and Castiel were. They had been sent to the South in hopes of keeping the Drake forces at bay but that plan had obviously failed. As she kept her forces on the wall sending arrow after arrow she hoped Spartacus could hold the enemy off as Jasunr and Castiel would be returning as soon as they realized what was going on.
In Galapagos ...
Dalila had change plans after the meeting had adjourned and instead of sending the sea serpent and the merepeople to the waters of Galapagos she had come up with a far better plan. She decided she would unleash Charybdis. Charybdis was the daughter of Neptune and Tellus and lived as a loyal servant to Neptune. This made Charybdis a half sister to Dalila and any who would obey her faith gave her the same respect if not more in his name. For to disgrace or disrespect a child of Neptune was to evoke the wrath of the sea. Once the Atlantian ships had docked Charybdis was to do what she did best.
She had ordered the majority of the Galapagos fleet to retreat. To leave only enough ships for it to not draw attention and give the Atlantian Queen a sense of achievement. As Charybdis began to drink from the sea the whirlpools formed in the ocean. The currents of the whirlpool were so strong that the pulled in the ships all around. including those that had been docked. These whirlpools dragged the Atlantian fleet underwater sinking ship after ship. Whatever ships Charybdis didn't pull under Scylla did until there was nothing left of the Atlantian fleet that had come into Galapagos. This left the Atlantian Queen and those who had gone on shore with her now stranded in the city for Spartacus men who had already been tipped off.
.....
Dalila sense the coming of the krakens and had sent her hippocampi away as she didn't want her close companion becoming a causality of this battle. She had heard through the grapevine of the sea that there was a mermaid leading this charade against her. She was disappointed when she heard that a mermaid was going to be leading this fleet against her. Mermaid on mermaid was not the way she had wanted this battle to go. However, whatever the case she would defeat this average fish and her fleet without hesitation. Not all were as loyal to their own as others.
Fog rolled out of the swamps as if heralding some great demon from a time long since forgotten. The Khalidorian outpost was on the banks of the eastern shore and held about fourty men plus a war galley floating just off shore. Despite their number and the protection from their naval support the soldiers were unhappy. They hated The North, they hated it everyday since their Godking led them here. The invasion went as expected. The populace was caught completely unawares and fell quickly. The royal family was killed and the control of the region fell into their hands relatively overnight. It was the time after that was costly. Taking the North was one thing but keeping it, was something else entirely.
The Khalidorians would march from castle to castle looking for the remains of the Stark army only to find empty camps and empty food stores. The constant marching was tiring and frustrating. Every man prayed to Khali that they would find the rebels soon if for no other reason than to get the fight they'd been hunting for for so long. Along the way they were hounded endlessly with mishap after mishap and the deaths toll kept rising. They'd lose a man to a slip on a melting snow drift or to wild predators like bears and wolves that seemed to constantly prowl these lands. Men would go missing in these soulless black forests with no sign of where they'd gone but their screams. Watchmen would vanish from duty only to show up days later lost to madness muttering about faces in the trees. Then there was the wolves, the damn wolves howled incessantly, not a member of the army has had a solid nights sleep in weeks. If that wasn't bad enough there was the rebels themselves that would march out of nowhere in force sacking entire encampments or routing their movements scattering their forces to go missing in the damned woods. On top of that there was the Wildlings, the native barbarians here who were a constant pests always looting their supply caravans or smaller outposts, raiding and thieving as they went.
Now they were positioned outside of an accursed swamp long as the eye could see. The locals called it The Neck and it was said to stretch from sea to sea, a veritable wall to guard from the south. Now there was this fog, thick as molasses and growing ever closer. The soldiers were uneasy, this near to the bog as it was and this weather was not improving their moods. One of the soldiers got to his feet as he stared into the mist. He was unable to break his gaze from the shadows he glimpsed within. Fear gripped his heart tight as he took in breath after quivering breath. Then the eyes met his. Red, and gleaming like rubies. He tried to call out, tried to alert his fellows but terror froze his tongue. In the fog he could almost make out the form of a great wolf, larger than any he'd ever seen, with fur white as snow. It was those eyes that terrified him though, those blood red eyes that seemed to sniff his soul hungrily. The soldier blinked and the wolf was gone, vanished into the mist if it was ever there at all. The Khalidorian took an unsteady step back and clutched his chest where his heart was beating faster than a war drum. It was only then that he realized he had wet himself.
Ghost had gone to scout up ahead as the rest of the force took cover in the swamps near the coast. Tenanye's spider fae had spotted the Khalidorian outpost and Ajax had shielded them with a thick fog. They were moving as close to the coast as they could hoping to rush the encampment from the tree line and take them out before they could mount any legitimate defense. From what they could tell they outnumbered the Khalidoirans but it was the war galley floating just off shore that would provide them the most trouble. If they got caught out in the open the war ship would bombard them with cannon fire. If the ship docked there was no telling how many men were aboard to take back the outpost should Jon and his men succeed. They had no choice however, they had to take the outpost if they were to continue into The North.
Standing there on the sea shore, where the swamps spilled into the ocean Jon stared at the waves as he waited for Ghost to return from his ranging. Jon couldn't help but hear a song in his mind as he watched the waves lap the shore. A song taught to him long ago by his dear cousin Clara.
Image
There she was, dancing and twirling in her white dress. Her bare feet splashing in the sea water as she skipped along the shore. Jon hadn't wanted to go to the beach that day but she'd convinced him. She loved the water and could spend hours in the sea. She had been trying to teach him a song called "Loreley" that she had learned in White Harbor. She sang as she danced and Jon watched with a happy smile.
He may have played the older cousin, too grown to frolic and play in the water but he had enjoyed himself that day. So much so that he still remembered the words to that song even now. Ghost loped up to his side and nudged his hand with his nose, it was time to strike. Jon nodded to Ajax and the others and the company readied to strike.
"And the winds would cry, and many men would die And all the waves would bow down to the Loreley..."
Jon muttered quietly to himself as he drew Longclaw and charged from the tree line with the rest of the men.
"Captain, we have made dock, we can leave on your order."
Robyn walked out without a word to Da’Karro, her hair was tied back, all her loose waves neatly tucked away from her face, her coat was filled with hidden daggers as well as her flintlock and long sword.
She made her way to the lower deck, finding Scarlet in the Kitchen. Scarlet’s eyes were wide and smiled. “ Captain...You look beautiful.” She said but Robyn all but ignored it. “Scarlet.” She said and stopped oddly. Scarlet looked at her. “ You are to stay on the ship.”
“No need to worry, I know where we are, and honestly, I don’t want to see what has become of it.” Scarlet said with a nod. Robyn looked at her. “Very well, Just-”
“I’ll look after Mr. Casey until you return.” She said and smiled. “Very well,” Robyn said and turned back toward the door. “You should wear your hair like that more often. You have a beautiful face, you shouldn’t hide it.” She said and Robyn just continued her pace.
Without another word, Robyn walked off the ship, her crewmen behind her.
“Halt Who goes there!” cried a voice from the dock. Robyn ignored it and kept walking “I said Halt.”The voice belonged to a Khalidorian soldier. He seemed new the lad as he stepped in front of her, he held out his hand. Clearly he did not know who she was.
Now whether he meant to or not, his hand pressed against her breast to stop her forward motion. It was a big mistake as in a flash, that hand was removed with the edge of a sharp 6in blade. The man didn’t know what happened as his hand hit the ground and blood pour from the severed wrist.
Robyn grabbed his head, as he cried out in pain. “ Shut up.” She spat, and he closed his mouth, even though whimpers still escaped. “The War ship, Is that yours?” She asked, her voice eerily calm. The soldier nodded. “ Do you have a doctor on board?” She asked. The soldier didn’t seem to know how to answer that question. Robyn was never a patient woman, she sunk the blade she used to remove his hand into his neck and let the lad dropped. “I’ll ask them myself.” She said and the men didn’t have to be told what to do next.
Robyn felt as if the world was passing her by, while everyone ran forward toward the ship, Robyn walked. They all were quiet, taking out a few of the foot guards outside of the ship. The Khalidorian men were good, they didn’t fall easily but ten to one was never great odds.
After finished off the two foot guards, the men climbed up the anchor rope and boarded the ship, Robyn right along with them
Once they boarded, they were met with an immediate opposition.
“The Crimson Lady?” called the Captain of the War Ship. Robyn turned only her head, as he came out of his cabin. He was an older man, obviously he knew who she was. “ Where is your doctor?” She asked him. The Captain frowned. “How did you get in here?”
“I am not going to repeat myself.” She warned.
“You’ll have to because clearly you are confused. This is a Khalidorian War ship, Love. Didn’t you know.”
Something in Robyn’s mind snapped and she lunged forward at a blinding speed and grabbed the Captain by the throat, forcing him to the wall. The two crews took up arms, but the Captain held out his, stopping them from attacking.“ How badly do you want to die?” She hissed. The Captain only grinned. “ About as badly as you want to anger the Godking, Lass. We are on the same side.” He said and Robyn narrowed her eyes. “I am on no side but my own.” She said and slide a dagger between his fourth and fifth rib. The Captain didn’t expect her to actually do it by the wide eyed look in his eyes as the blade pierced his heart. He swung out, knocking Robyn back, lucky for him, the dagger was small and was left inside.
Robyn shrugged off the blow and growled animalistically. “Kill them all!” she shouted and the battle began.
Tenanye knelled down as The scouts returned, and they readied themselves to strike. She heard Jon whispering a song to him as she closed her eyes and released her glamour.
Her once midnight hair blanched at the ends, leaving them a pale white, her slim figure elongated, making her taller then what she was. Her black eyes disappeared into inky black pit. She skittered into the trees, as did her Spider Fae, as Jon and the others charged from the ground.
Tenanye hung from the tree with an arm and a single leg, her tarantula, Nanji crawled up her arm before she held out her free hand, and released a cluster of spiders, from her hair. The spiders spilled from her hair and into the ground below, they moved around Jon and his men and moved to the outpost.
Tenanye dropped down from the trees and walked up beside Jon. " I hope you don't have a fear of Spiders." She said, her voice having a deeper, more mystical tone to it,she darted forward, accompany her spiders in beginning the siege on the outpost.
The Valyrian steel was second to none and cut through the Khalidorian armor with lethal efficiency. Jon's sword, a hand and a half sword also called a bastard sword, was named so due to it's length. It was longer than a traditional longsword but not as massive as a two handed greatsword. The added length allowed Jon the reach of a longer weapon with the ease of use and maneuverability of a smaller one. At the moment the ripples in the spellforged steel were coated in fresh blood as Jon cut down the soldiers in his path. Jon and his allies had clashed with the outposts garrison and their sudden rush attack was fairing extraordinarily well despite just beginning.
Jon parried a savage swing from a Khalidorian axe before smashing the pommel of his sword into the warriors face, forcing him to back pedal before he opened his belly with one clean swing. The warrior fell just as two more rushed in to kill the last Son of Winterfell. Jon was put on the defensive immediately, forced to match each of their strikes or be cut down. During the flurry of strikes one of the soldiers came at him with a powerful swing, meant to remove his head from his shoulders. Jon seized the opportunity and ducked under it, allowing the momentum to carry the warrior past him a step. That was all the time he needed to dispatch his fellow. With an expertly executed riposte Jon sunk his blade into the Khalidorian's throat before turning to engage his over zealous friend. The soldier roared as his compatriot fell to the ground and came at Jon with a heavy handed over head strike. Jon caught the strike with Longclaw's cross guard before shoving him off balance before slashing open his thighs with a single swing. The man dropped to the floor with a shout. Jon turned his sword in his grip before sinking it into the man's heart.
"I hope you don't have a fear of Spiders."
Jon turned to his side to find Tenanye standing there but she was no longer the woman he'd met in The Neck but a tall, ink black haired, shadow eyed being that barely resembled the woman she was before. Jon turned his attention back to the battle and watched, almost in horror as Tenanye's spider fae swarmed over the Khalidorians. Arachnids big as small hounds skittered across the ground and leapt onto shrieking men to sink their venomous fangs into their bodies. The venom seemed to burn through it's victims almost instantly. A horrible death, Jon thought.
"I wasn't."
Jon Stark replied. No sooner had he spoken had a Khalidorian leapt at him, dagger in hand. Jon stepped in and plunged his blade into the man's gut, stopping him cold before letting him drop to the floor.
"DIE WITCH!"
Another Khalidoran shouted as he drew his bowstring from a few paces away. Jon turned to look at the archer just long enough to see Ghost pounce. The massive dire wolf sunk his fangs into the archers throat, tearing at the soft flesh with ease. The man's gurgled screams died quickly. Jon smirked and looked at Tenanye with pride.
"I hope you don't have a fear of Wolves."
Jon moved through the battle bearing Longclaw with Ghost at his side. The only time the great white dire wolf was absent from Jons heels was when it was preoccupied tearing chunks off still screaming Khalidorians. Jon took a soldier's sword arm off with one clean stroke before opening his throat with a follow up swing. Kicking the body aside Jon pushed on with Ajax and his men brutally overwhelming the Khalidorian encampment. The battle wouldn't be long now, it was theirs the Khalidorians had just not realized the horrifying truth yet. It felt good though, for Jon. To be back in The North, to be fighting for his country again. He'd spent so long in the south just waiting and talking and discussing plans to return home but now that he was actively doing it he felt that he was making some progress.
The Khalidorian numbers were dwindling and the soldiers were starting to realize it. To their credit they did not submit, they did not surrender. They were willing to fight to the last man. Three charged him, one bearing an axe, the other a mace and the last a short sword. As they charged they roared in unison.
"KHALIDOR!!!"
Jon gritted his teeth, remembering the battle cry from the fight for Winterfell. The hair on Ghost back stood on end as he growled savagely, his blood red eyes fixating on the charging enemies. Jon gripped his sword and rushed in with a battle cry of his own.
"WINTERFELL!!!"
Jon clashed with the men as Ghost did the same. He toppled one over instantly, his jaws clenching down on the mans neck with bone crushing power. Jon brought his sword down hard in an overhead strike that cut through the shaft of the axe wielders weapon before biting into his chest. The sword cut into the man's collar bone in a fountain of blood and screams. Jon ripped the blade out to parry the short swordsman. The warrior was bigger than Jon, and stronger but unskilled and undisciplined. Jon moved past his brutish guard with ease before burying his sword deep in the man's gut. Jon Stark shoved the man off his blade and surveyed the battle.
It was dwindling. Most of the Khalidorians were dead or dying. There was still a hand full or so that remained but they were outnumbered and would not last long if they did not surrender. Jon was standing nearer to the dock than he had been and found himself not far from where Tenanye had darted off to. She was standing beside a cutlass wielding woman Jon did not recognize along with a force of what appeared to be pirates. Jon was not aware of any pirate that had been hired to join their side so he was thoroughly confused. Jon had suggested days earlier to enlist the aid of Captain Robyn Sheva to dwindle Wanhope's support but the idea had been shot down. He was unsure of why they would hire not one pirate for another.
Jon moved toward them, having to dispatch two more soldiers along the way which he did with ease. Ghost padded along side him but Jon halted the big beast with a hand.
"Go on Ghost, go to Amelia. Make sure she's alright."
The massive white beast looked into Jon's eyes with a knowing stare. It blinked those blood red eyes once before heading off to find Amelia Targaryen and ensure she was safe and well at the edge of the battle. May the gods, old and new, save whoever thought to harm the silver queen when Ghost arrived. Turning back to Tenanye and her pirate companion Jon moved in to support them as they battled it out with the last survivors. Tenanye's power was terrifying and the pirates killing skill was effortless. Jon barely felt needed but managed to put his sword through a spear wielding Khalidorian that was charging the female pirate.
"I didn't know we had reinforcements coming."
Jon said as he pulled his sword from the dead soldiers back.
Captain Robyn Sheva, The Crimson Lady. Her reputation preceded her before she ever aligned herself with Wanhope. Anyone who has ever seen an ocean has heard tales of The Harbinger and its crew of hellions led by the fearsome Crimson Lady. When Jon had learned that she had joined Wanhope in his conquest of his home Jon had said a silent prayer to the gods that the rumors weren't true. Alas they were and The Crimson Lady joined Wanhope but not long after it had it vanished on the sea to raid far from The North. Jon didn't know what poor souls had suffered its wrath but he didn't envy them.
Now he was walking on her ship. Jon, Tenanye, Amelia, Ajax and of course Ghost. The large white wolf padded silently along at Jons side, his blood red eyes keeping a careful watch on all the sea raiders aboard Sheva's vessel. Jon was glad to see Ghost slow down and cast a glance back every so often to make sure Amelia wasn't far behind. The dire wolf was growing attached to the mother of dragons, Jon couldn't blame him. As they walked Tenanye and Robyn led the way aboard the gangplank and onto the deck. Behind them was Ajax, the hulking half god towered over everyone making even the burliest sailor look little more than a child in comparison. Bringing up the rear was Jon Stark and Amelia Targaryen, side by side with Ghost following close behind them.
Jon wanted to talk to Amelia about the decision to bring Robyn over to their side. At the council meeting she hadn't had a chance to weigh in on the topic. The other royals had no interest in working with a pirate and Jons suggestion had been shot down rather quickly but he still held that it was a good plan. Khalidor had no navy, what warships they were using were looted from White Harbor. They were Northern warships that Khalidor now controlled. To reinforce their stolen vessels was Wanhopes hired pirate and her fearsome crew. Take that away and he was left with only stolen ships with disloyal crews forced to man the boat under pain of death, hardly a navy to fear. Yet as they walked Jon was silent. It was Jons idea to enlist Captain Sheva but now that he was here, he had no idea what he was going to say to her. How was he supposed to get her to join their side? Wanhope was a god king, Jon was a king without a kingdom. Wanhope was wealthy, Jon was homeless. Wanhope had an army, Jon had a dire wolf. Jon looked down at Ghost who was padding at his side. He at least had Wanhope beat on that.
Tenanye was quickly led to where the injured man lay dying while the Captain, Amelia, Ajax, Jon and Ghost went into the galley. They were all seated a long wooden table with many chairs. Jon assumed this was where the crew took its meals. everyone found themselves a seat, Jon positioned himself beside Amelia while Ghost sat behind Jon, not yet calm enough to lay down the wolf remained alert. Jon took it upon himself to begin, he cleared his throat and spoke up.
"Captain Sheva, thank you for taking us aboard. I hope Tenanye can have your man back on his feet soon."
Jon opened respectfully. He was honestly hoping Tenanye could save Sheva's friend. Too many people have died in this war already, the concern in Robyn's face made it evident she cared for the dying man. Jon had no desire to see anyone else lose loved ones.
"Wanhope has an army in my country. He has Northern warships patrolling the waters and the only thing keeping the Northern sailors from mutiny and taking back their ships is you. Fear of The Crimson Lady coming to burn the ship to tinder keeps them scared. But now you have Khalidorian blood on your hands, same as us. You know they are no more your friend now than they were before they paid you. You know Wanhope is outnumbered, more than half of the world is against him. He can fight us for a while but he won't win. Join us and earn your reward, a reward of your choosing."
"Clara?..."
Jon muttered aloud in disbelief. He got up from his chair to unsteady feet that would not obey his commands, he almost stumbled as he tried to move. His eyes were fixed on the serving girl. He took a step forward, almost afraid to move too quickly for fear she'd vanish. Ghost however was not so tentative. The dire wolf rushed forward, tail wagging and licked Clara's face happily. Only Clara had ever managed to turn the enigmatic dire wolf into a bouncing puppy. Ghost slobbered all over her face as Jon looked on in utter shock. Jon could feel the tears in his eyes begin to form as he looked at his cousin. His cousin who he thought he'd never see again. His cousin who he had no idea as to what fate befell her. His family who he thought was gone from him forever was not but steps away.
"Clara..."
He said as he rushed over and scooped her up in his arms. He embraced her and hugged her tightly, caring little about the tear that fell down his cheeks. She was real. As he held her in his arms, he finally accepted that she was real. He spun her around with a happy laugh before setting her down. Jon hadn't been so happy to see anyone in his entire life. As Ajax and Amelia and the captain all looked on in confusion Jon and Clara were just happy because the Starks were together again. As Jon hugged his cousin Ghost bounced around them, it was odd to see the massive beast that had been killing men minutes earlier now as happy as a year old pup. Jon didn't want to let Clara go but he did, setting her feet down on the wooden floor and putting his hand to her face, cupping her cheek tenderly so he could look into her eyes still almost in disbelief.
"Gods be good, Clara you have no idea how good it is to see you. Beautiful as ever. What are you doing here? How did you get on a pirate ship?"
"Jon....They told me you fell."
She said with a whimper, the tears fell freely down her cheeks. Jon shook his head and tried to comfort her as best he could.
"I didn't Clara, I'm here. I'm here now."
"It was horrible, Pup, I watched the city burn but the Captain, she saved me, brought me here, gave me a room and everything."
Jon looked away for the first time to the room full of people and then finally realized they were still in the room. So enthralled with the reunion with his cousin he'd nearly forgotten every else. Ajax was still there with his mountain of muscle and Amelia with her ethereal beauty and the captain. The captain Robyn Sheva, The Crimson Lady, the bane of the sea had saved his cousins life. She'd taken her in and protected her when Jon wasn't able to do it himself. To say Jon was surprised was an understatement. Jon had always been told pirates and thieves were men without honor. Men who were cruel and brutal and disdained any form of kindness and justice. To find a pirate with a reputation as infamous as The Crimson Lady to have shown such kindness to his own blood was the last thing he expected.
"I suppose we'll finish this conversation some other time then."
The Captain said, no doubt feeling his eyes on her. Jon didn't have the words to thank her, he couldn't put into words such feeble things they were to truly express his gratitude. He could only give her a silent nod as he held his cousin. A wordless thank you from the king to the pirate.
"I've so much to tell you, Pup! So much to show you!" She said with a happy grin, bouncing on her feet. "I don't even know where to start!"
Clara said excitedly. Jon had to laugh happily, he hadn't been called Pup in a long time. Pup was Clara's pet name for him and she'd been calling him that since they were children. To hear it again brought him back to Winterfell, it brought him back to the Godswood running through the white trunks of the weirwood trees with his cousin. Jon reached down not being able to resist hugging her again.
"Clara Underfoot... How I've missed you."
Jon let her go and stepped back with a happy smile.
"Why not start from the beginning?"
Da'Karro eyed the group of apparent nobles as they were escorted back to the ship. It was a most unexpected turn of events, he would never have expected to run into such a esteemed group this far into the wilderness. The Fae Queen, Tenanye, she intrigued him especially. He had never met a Fae, and had for the most part thought them products of myth and superstition, or at least creatures that had died long before the age of man, to discover that they lived still gave him an odd joy.
"What wonders and sights I have yet to see in this world." He thought with a smile, "Scarlet and I should visit the Fae when this war is over, I am sure she would love to see such magnificent creatures."
The rest were human as far as he could tell, men and women from the east, their skin fair and features unweathered. One man stood out, his black hair alone in the group and pale skin denouncing him as someone from much colder climates. A northern lord perhaps? Joining forces with these nobles to retake his homeland. The Idea wasn't far fetched. They didn't concern him however, the Captain appeared to have business with them, but Da'Karro was only intrigued with the Spider Queen and her people, people? He wondered what he should refer to them as, he would ask when in less hectic times.
The Khalidoran camp was rich in supplies and commandeered some of the foreigners men to help him fill the Khlidoran carts with useful supplies to return to the ship while the Captain went ahead with the nobles. The scavenge didn't take long, the carts filled with everything from weapons to food to loot and gold. A pleasing haul. the bodies of the fallen left for the wolves, which seemed to bother the eastern men for some reason but he couldn't fathom why. They were enemy soldiers why waste the effort?
The men seemed less than keen to follow Da'Karros orders, but did so none the less, something about him being a "Filthy pirate" or somesuch. The trip back to the ships was uneventful, and Da'Karro had time to think over the repercussions of the day. The haul overall was bountiful, but their crew had been decimated, and He had serious doubts about their ability to engage in another assault for some time until new recruits could be found and trained. What little crew they had left would barely be able to crew the Harbinger, let alone both ships. The loot they had accrued would pay for a new crew, but they had to be found first, but that was a problem for the Captain.
They arrived at the ship and Da'Karro set the crew to unloading the carts while he went in search of Scarlet. Robyn was no doubt in her cabin with the nobles, so he gave it a wide berth. He would find the spider queen later, he had many curious questions for her. Did she believe in Ishka? What deity did they serve? was it simply another aspect of his Goddess?
Such questions wafted through his brain as he walked through the door of the Kitchen. Scarlet stood with her back to him, preparing some sort of drink, and towering behind her was the northman.
Da'Karros blade was out in an instant, his Kukri sweeping up and pressing against the mans throat as he grasped the his hair and pulled back, exposing his jugular vein.
"I hope you have a good excuse for being here friend," He hissed in the northmans ear, "Because I dont appreciate strangers alone with my Scarlet Princess."
Temple of the Nine, City of New Atlantia
“Necroesia hear my prayer guide me show me the path.” whispered Sylvia as she kneeled before the alter of the Goddess of darkness and death. She was about to speak when darkness covered the room.
“I know what you seek my child. Does the Godking plot against you? Does he wait till he has the world to turn on you? Can barbarians really be trusted or is it time for a change? What is the Godking without your ships? Without my undead? You know his evil. You are not bound as your sister. Do you see just gold? Or do you see what a godking’s world would be? Dark lies the trident and only you can decide it’s fate. You pray to me but you already know your heart.”
An image then flashed a battle, a wolf, a dragon, a spider, and a ship. Then the map of the neck and the image of a burning fort.
“You know your heart….”
The darkness lifted and Sylvia was left with a cold shiver and she just shared into the space before her for what seemed like days before calling her guard. “Prepare my ship.”
The coast of the Neck
The Reaper appeared from a mist only a musket shot From the Harbinger. A Flag of truce was raised and Sylvia shouted “I am Queen Sylvia of Atlantia I come to Trade words with the Allies of Winterhold” she then turned to her first mate and in a whisper “Ready the guns just incase they decide to fight and not talk.”
Da'Karro watched the exchange between Jon and Scarlet impassively. He had never had a family, the closest thing was those he met in the temple, but even then, his history and personality detriments garnered him few friends. Scarlet was the only thing he had ever loved, and he was unsure how to fit her love for Jon into his worldview. Did this diminish her love for him? They were cousins but the practice of cousinly marriage was not unheard of. Especially in times of desperation such as this. The thought troubled Da'Karro, but he forced it to the back of his mind, she was happy, and he was not about to ruin that.
"I've only just got you back, Jon and I can't lose you again, so I won't." She said, before quickly leaving the room.
Da'Karro and Jon were left in a tense silence in the kitchen. It appeared that the northman did not exactly dislike Da'Karro, but he still felt ill at ease. They were worlds apart the two of them. A slave and a king. A northman and a Jeddian. A murderer and a knight. a Lover and a brother. One fought with honor and strength, the other through viciousness and pain. Was this the man Scarlet wanted him to be?
Scarlet suddenly appeared again in the doorway, out of breath and apparently having ran, she was beaming from ear to ear, "The Captain wishes to make an announcement. I believe she is to join you in the War. We won't have to be separated." She said both of the two mens hands, "Come, Hurry."
They were led at a jog back up to the main deck, where the rest of the crew was gathered, along with the assorted nobles and another woman dressed in black. The woman in blacks ship was nearby, and Da'Karro was only slightly annoyed no one told him of its arrival.
"This is Sylvia, The New Queen of Atlantia," Robyn called out to the assembled group, "She has taken her sister's place and means to atone for her sister's sins. She means to join in against Wanehope..." She said and looked to where Jon stood beside Da'Karro and Scarlet. "As do I."
The crew cheered some, as did the assorted nobles present, even Scarlet grinned as Jon seemed please to be able to stay with Scarlet.
Da'Karro alone did not cheer.
"Captain, might I speak?" He said stepping forward, the eyes of the whole ship upon him. He better make this good.
"Go ahead." Robyn said, indicating for him to step forward.
Da'Karro cleared his throat and began, much rode on this speech.
"This ship is feared throughout these waters Captain, and rightly so, it has plundered, destroyed and wrecked hundreds of ships in its long history, the breadth and span of the sea. But if we go against the Godking as we are, we will die."
He paused for dramatic effect, he was good at theatrics when he had to be.
"We are without the crew or armament to take on a navy of the Tridents size. We could take on one or two ships at a time, but if we were outnumbered or surrounded, we would perish. And even if we managed to evade a direct fight, your crew is tired and few in number. We do not have the manpower for such a venture. I suggest a different path."
He paused again, collecting his thoughts, "Here goes nothing."
"Instead of sailing, north, I suggest we head south, to Jeddah, my homeland. We go to my temple and ask their aid. They will not turn down the chosen one. With the Temples aid we will convince the Sultan to help us and we can use his armies and navy to harry the Godkings ally, King Molloch of Drake, forcing him to retract his forces from the Godkings invasion."
Clara had rushed out of the kitchen and back in the blink of an eye. She told Da'Karro and Jon something about an announcement the Captain wished to make before dragging them up the stairs to the deck. Once out in the open sea air aboard the deck of the Harbinger Jon was surprised to see a new face. The Captain was standing beside a woman garbed all in black. The crew was milling around as they awaited anxiously for whatever announcement Captain Sheva had. As Jon waited himself he glanced around until his eyes fell on a vision from his dreams.
Image
Her back was to him, her eyes on the sea. Her silver hair cascaded down her back in soft curls and elegant braids. Her riding gown and cloak kept her warm in the cold Northern sea wind yet to see her standing there Jon struggled to even notice the chill. Her hands casually rested on the rail of The Harbinger and Jon couldn't help but remember some of the tale she'd told him in the swamps of The Neck. "What was she seeing?" Jon wondered to himself as he looked upon her. Did she see the seas around Astapor where she gained her Unsullied? Did she see the waves she passed after her flight from Qarth? Or was it an older sea? The sea on which she was born.
As he watched her Jon remembered something else as well. He remembered his fantasy in the kitchen where he'd walked up behind her and slid his arms around her waist. He remembered the sound of her laughter as if he'd actually heard it. The false memory almost pained him in the knowledge that it never actually happened.
Jon looked away, his gaze falling like the last snows of winter in lament. Jon turned to see if the Captain was ready to begin and mercifully she was.
"This is Sylvia, The New Queen of Atlantia,"
Robyn called out to the assembled group,
"She has taken her sister's place and means to atone for her sister's sins. She means to join in against Wanehope..."
She said and looked to where Jon stood as Da'Karro and Scarlet came to stand beside him.
"As do I."
Jon breathed sigh of utter relief. He hadn't been certain he'd convinced her and something told him his words had little to do with Robyn's decision but he was happy all the same. Not only had the fearsome Captain Robyn Sheva joined their cause but so too had the new Queen of Atlantia. Jon couldn't believe it. The gods were smiling on him as they damned Wanhope in the same breath. Wanhope's power was vanishing faster than snow under the summer sun. Now only Drake and Fuaria stood with him. The allied victory was all but assured. Jon would reclaim The North and if the gods were good, with minimal blood shed.
Before Jon could utter a response Da'Karro spoke up, garnering the attention of those gathered.
"Captian, Might I speak?"
No sooner had he uttered the words then did Jon feel Clara's arm interlace with his own. She clutched him tightly as if afraid of what the man might say. Jon turned to her in confusion before looking back to Da'Karro as he spoke. The mysterious man who loved his cousin spoke and told a tale of death and disaster if they stayed the current course. He warned of their short handedness and offered a solution. A far off land Jon had never heard of. Jeddah, he called it, and Da'Karro said it was where he was born. He called Clara The Chosen One and Clara assured Jon she would explain what that meant. Jon was quickly becoming concerned of what has been happening around his cousin since they'd been separated.
Da'Karro went on to explain that with the help of his temple they could convince the ruling Sultan to also join the allied cause and their strategic positioning would pit the forces from Drake who were battling with With Kenna's men against two armies on the northern and southern front. Robyn replied and was not opposed to the idea but explained that the very reason Da'Karro suggested leaving The North would prohibit them from venturing further south. The Harbinger was currently being manned by a skeleton crew and could hardly run like that much longer. Further more Robyn made note of the fact that Jon would not be able to join them since he must remain here to unite his people.
Jon could feel Clara's fingernails digging into his arm even through the leather of his jerkin. He turned to her and could see the herald of tears to come. Her eyes burrowed into Da'Karro with anger and betrayal. Jon knew his cousin better than anyone and felt her pain with complete understanding. Da'Karro's plan, sound though it may be, would split up the Starks even after Clara had just figured out a way to keep them together. Jon admitted he did not enjoy the thought of leaving Clara's side but neither could he deny the potential for further military support.
No longer being able to bear looking at the man further Clara stormed off in a rage. Jon wanted to go to her, to follow her and see how he could put her hearts suffering at ease but as it so often did duty stood in the way. Once Clara stormed off the eyes of those gathered were on him. Robyn asked if there was any way he could help gather men for her vessel and Jon needed only a moment to reply. An answer for Robyn, a solution to her need for men, a clear route for the future and a way to keep Clara close just a little bit longer.
"Most of The North believes me dead. I have no men under my command as of yet. Those that followed Amelia, Tenanye, Ajax and I were Ajax's own. Though if it is strong, hardy sailors you need I know where to find them. Clara grew up in an area of The North called white Harbor, it's our only true port. The men and women of White Harbor have an ancient and proud sea fairing culture. Finer men and women under the mast you will not find Captain Sheva, I assure you."
Jon paused as the hard truths reared their ugly heads once more.
"Problem is, White Harbor is currently under Khalidorian rule and we can't take the city with the men we have. If you help me track down the Northern resistance I will lead my men to White Harbor and free it. Once done you will have all the sailors you need and after you return with the ships from Jeddah I will put you in command of the Northern fleet to take the final battle to Wanhope and end this war once and for all."
As Robyn agreed to Da'Karros plan, outlining how they still required more men to even make it south, he could hear Scarlet run off form behind him. He bit his lip and did not go after her. Surely she could see the logic behind his suggestion? Surely she wasnt so blinded by her reunion with Jon that she thought Da'Karros motives were jealous in nature.
"Are they not?" A small voice whispered in the back of his mind.
"No," Da'Karro told himself, "I do what I must for everyone's safety, including hers."
Jon spoke up behind Da'Karro, and despite what he told himself he couldn't deny the urge to hit the honorable northman, "Most of The North believes me dead. I have no men under my command as of yet. Those that followed Amelia, Tenanye, Ajax and I were Ajax's own. Though if it is strong, hardy sailors you need I know where to find them. Clara grew up in an area of The North called white Harbor, it's our only true port. The men and women of White Harbor have an ancient and proud sea fairing culture. Finer men and women under the mast you will not find Captain Sheva, I assure you."
A good place to acquire a crew, true, but a crew that would be commanded by a pirate? Da'Karro and Mr Casey had enough issues keeping a crew that liked Sheva in line, what would a crew that despised her do?
"Problem is, White Harbor is currently under Khalidorian rule and we can't take the city with the men we have. If you help me track down the Northern resistance I will lead my men to White Harbor and free it. Once done you will have all the sailors you need and after you return with the ships from Jeddah I will put you in command of the Northern fleet to take the final battle to Wanhope and end this war once and for all."
The plan seemed sound, but Da'KArro couldn't help the feeling that there was some ploy of the northmans here, that he was somehow trying to use the situation to his advantage.
"He is your ally you ass, Scarlets cousin, he is not the enemy." He told himself, but it only made him feel slightly better.
"The plan is sound Captain," Da'Karro forced out, "However Northman, I am unsure of how much assistance we will be on the ground. We cannot leave the ship unattended, and with such a light crew, it may be only I or the Captain that could accompany you."
"Da'Karro ready the ship will you?" Robyn instructed before turning and returning to her cabin.
"Of course Captain," He replied, making his way to the keel, "Prepare to sail lads! The sooner were done with the North the sooner we can return to a more welcoming climate!"
He reached the top of the stairs and laid a hand on the balustrade. "Esteemed guests, if any of you plan on departing I would suggest you do it shortly, once we are away, we will not be making any convenience stops."
The ship buzzed with the remaining crew untying rigging and preparing the sails. He watched the assorted nobles follow Robyn into her cabin, and his eyes lingered warily on Jon.
The true King of the north...
It was bizzare thinking of him in such terms, he was Scarlets cousin. He had known Scarlet was of royal birth but it had never had any relevance or import, but now...
She was Cousin of a King, a Lady in truth, able to rule over much in her Cousins new kingdom. She would be wealthy and well looked after up here with Jon, she may even be happy. What could he offer her? What could the Captain? A life on a pirate ship? Constantly in danger and living of what you can steal? A life in the temple at Jeddah? A life... with him.
She deserved so much more than he could give her. What could he bring her but death, pain and a prophecy she had no control over.
He pushed his dark thoughts to the back of his mind and continued with preparations. Now was not the time.
Collab Post between me and Creativity
"We should've never let him go off alone." Amelia voice was laced with worry and concern as she paced back and forth. Ajax and her had found a seclusive place among the ship to go while they waited for Jon to return. Jon had been gone for about an hour or so now and the longer his absence the more worried she became. When he had come to her and asked her what she thought of him infiltrating the White Harbor with no one but that already proven backstabbing pirate wench she had been honest in her opinion on the matter. Her opinion being that Jon once again had proven himself mad to her in wanting to go off on what she considered to be another suicide mission. The woman had sworn her loyalty to Wanehope and had betrayed him. He had most likely promised her the world and riches that she could only imagine and in the end she had still sided with his enemy.
"He is not alone Amelia. Robyn is with him. They will pr-"
"Is that suppose to bring me comfort. She is a pirate. They cannot be trusted. She cannot be trusted!"
Ajax eyes darted around looking a bout their surroundings. A pirate ship was no place to bad mouth pirates. "I understand your concern for Jon's safety but please still yourself Amelia. Jon has proven himself to be a capable fighter and more importantly a survivor. Now I would not be speaking truth if I said that this pirate captain does not concern me. However, it is out our hands now. Jon is gone. All we can do now is wait and pray to our gods that his mad plan doesn't fall through and he finds those that he seeks."
Amelia knew that every word Ajax spoke was the truth and all the two could do now was wait and hope that everything went according to plan. "I cannot just stand here doing nothing. I'll go mad if I try." Amelia spoke as she began pacing again.
"If you keep pacing am afraid you won't be the only one to go mad." His words made Amelia come to a halt as she faced him. "Sorry." Ajax chuckled, "I think we could both use some fresh air." The mountain of a man slowly rose from the barrel of which he had been sitting on.
As Ajax walked away Amelia followed behind him as they went up above unto the ship deck. At the bow of the ship she saw the large white dire wolf with Clara, Jon's cousin. The Stark reunion had been one that none had expect but all had been happy to bare witness to. At least it had made her happy to see. It turned out that Jon in fact wasn't the only Stark alive. Amelia was happy that he still had family in this world. Something that she herself did not have.
"Now there lies the perfect distraction for you. You should go break words with her. If there is anyone on this ship who will share your worries and concerns it is she." Ajax said giving Amelia a friendly nudge in Clara's direction to which Amelia just laughed as she spun around to face him.
"I don't want you to leave me alone. I am still wary of these people."
Ajax nodded, "Than I shall not leave you alone. I will stay insight."
Amelia smiled and nodded as she turned walking away from Ajax and went to the bow of the ship where Clara sat with Ghost. As she approached the dire wolf tail thumped against the wooden floorboard. Kneeling down she scratched under Ghost's chin as she her eyes fell on Clara. She was dark of skin with a heart shaped face and beautiful brown almond shaped eyes. "Hello, am Amelia Targaryen."
