Weight:
126 lbs.

Hair Color:
Blue

Eye Color:
Green

Skin Color:
As pale as snow

General Appearance:
Tawni is quite tall and she enjoys that, she also sports an almost too thin frame due to anorexic tendencies. Her hair is a dark blue and goes to the mid of her back. She keeps her bangs swept to one side, but her bangs generally stay tucked behind her ear to keep them out of her face. She exhibits heavy eye makeup, but it is the only type of makeup that she usually wears. Her attire is made up of a darker, more Gothic style. It is rare to see her in an actual color besides neutral colors of grey. She loves fishnets and garters and combat boots and basically any other type of accessory that fits her style.

Ability:
Can stop time, but can hold time still for a maximum of 20 seconds.

Personality:
Vitane has become a very independent woman. After the loss of her parents when the freaks (as she calls them) started taking over, all she's had is her grandma. She is hotheaded and lashes out sometimes. She can come off as cocky but it's only a cover up from the trauma she's endured. She's grown to distaste most men after dealing with an abusive father and a lover. She trusts warily, but once you have gained her full trust she would die for her friends. Before the takeover, she was kind and giving and always put others first. But ever since everything happened she's been protective of her only living family member and cares only for herself and her grandma.

She lost her breath as he spoke, he looked so pained and it was heart wrenching, she wanted to comfort and hold him. “I already can’t lose you.” She squeezed his hand, she believed him. “I’m just a human” she spoke softly with her voice quivering.

She slowly lifted her hand up to his cheek and gently wiped the tear from his face, she flinched a little, it was like touching boiling water. When he passed her the joint she shook her head. She took it from him and pressed it in a near by rock to extinguish it. “I think I’m high enough, never thought I’d say that to be honest” she laughed. She pushed some hair out of her face and tucked a few strands behind her ear. Then, a weird feeling melted into her. For the first time in her life she actually felt safe. Although she had befriended dozens of supernaturals and somehow made it through this world alive, as a human she was always on her guard and on the run. Yet here she was, with possibly the most terrifying creature she had ever researched, and she was calm “Am I under some sort of spell or something? For fucksakes you kidnapped me and for the first time in a long time I feel like I’m at home.”

She curled her lower lip inward and licked it. She shifted her gaze away from his eyes and her eyebrows furrowed “I need to know, why did you kidnap me, I mean out of all the creatures in this world, the women...you can probably have anything and anyone. I mean look at your house. So why did you pick me, it doesn’t make sense, especially if all you want is love. I age and death is no stranger to my kind.”

Jason’s heart pulsed uncontrollably as Vitane pushed him down against the couch. Something about this moment was different then with all the other women. He felt something with her that was so real, it was their first day and yet, this felt no where near a hook up. He slid his hand down her lower back and became slightly confused as she pulled away but immediately grinned as she said “You’re fucking hot.”

He brushed some hair out of her face and pulled her into him again. He kissed her a little more aggressively this time. He slid his hand up her back and unhooked her bra. He pressed his hand on her spine as the band separated. His breath was heavy between their kisses, he could barely keep up as he melted even further into her.

A sudden high pitch ring sounded in Jason’s ears. Deeply into his moment with Vitane, he hadn’t realized his fox ears had formed on his head. They twitched in random directions as if trying to alarm Jason. He ignored it, figuring it was just his mind toying with him as it always did. He pressed into her even further, he continued to kiss her passionately but then, his eyes shot open. They turned red in an instant and he sat up causing Vitane to fall back onto the couch. He glanced around him, the pitch grew louder. “Put your clothes on” he commanded and got to his feet. He rushed over to his leather jacket and pulled out his smartphone. He tapped on the screen and spoke into it like a walkie-talkie “Forrest, you’re going to want to come to the lounge.” He did everything in his power to remain in his human form, his eyes were glued to the door as his heart pounded even harder “Vitane, get behind me” he said demanded.

A moment later a group of five guards burst through the lounge doors. In the group there were two fallen angels and three lycans all in fighting stance as they stepped through the door. Jason recognized the dark angel the the lycan leading the crowd, it was Damon and Jasper, the two accused for miss handling Lola. Show yourself Jason! Jasper commanded.

Jason took a step forward into a clearer light, he gestured with his hands and a devilish smile appeared on his face “Your slaughter isn’t scheduled till three am boys, and the rest of you idiots must be guilty too if you plan on fighting with them.”

The only ones getting slaughtered tonight is you, your brother and your whores sneered Damon, who then charged for Jason.

Vitane eagerly accepted him pressing her into him more. Man, was he a good kisser. She wanted to envelop him into her, she wanted to feel his skin. She so badly wanted to rip his shirt off, but she barely restrained herself and continued to kiss him passionately.

With a swiftness he un-clipped her bra and she, too, promptly removed it and without hesitation grabbed his hand to squeeze her breast. She moaned into the kiss and her tooth grazed his lips as he suddenly pulled away. If she hadn't been thrown halfway across the couch, she would have been in a loopy, dazed state because the kiss was so amazing. She shook her head, refocusing her scattered mind.

“Put your clothes on” Something was clearly wrong. He would not have just thrown her away so quickly. No one had ever tried to stop her just because they weren't into it. So at least her self-esteem wouldn't be injured. She hastily re-clipped her bra then spun it around to slip her arms into it. She snatched her crop top and boots, but unwelcome visitors rushed through the entryway to the room. There were guards. And creatures. Vitane held the shirt up to cover her exposed chest. Even though she was never the modest type, she hadn't given these men permission to look at her. She pulled the shirt over her head as they conversed.

Show yourself Jason! Vitane's eyes widened. Instinctively, but surprisingly, she looked to Jason in concern. She didn't want to see him get hurt. Even though in the back of her mind she figured he could take care of himself, but if he even got a scratch, it would bother her. She wasn't sure why she suddenly became so protective over this man, but her brows furrowed towards the trespassers immediately as if they were her enemies too.

The only ones getting slaughtered tonight is you, your brother and your whores! Vitane's eyes shut tight and abruptly, through all of the hysteria, the room grew silent. She opened her eyes, fascinated. Everyone was still, unmoving. She must have been so emotionally invested that she felt the need to freeze the room. One of the potential perks and a downfall of her power was that it only affected her general vicinity, so Forrest would be able to aide Jason quicker since he was unaltered by the stop in time. Her power only lasted about thirty seconds, but in a fight, every second counted.

Before she could even count to thirty, the room was back in action, but Forrest was in the doorway only a moment later.

“I’m just a human” Forrest's head dropped, but when he looked back up at her, he was laughing.
"You don't understand, though, you're so much more than that." He hesitantly and slowly raised his rough hand to touch her cheek. He was so gentle and loving in his touch, something you wouldn't expect from someone with his...genes. He so badly wanted to kiss her in this moment, to show her just how much he really cared for her. But he abstained.

He laughed with her and nodded his head in agreement, glad that he would not be passed the blunt again. He, too, was plenty stoned. He watched her move, his senses seeming to be heightened even more. Her beautiful hair always fell perfectly over her face, no matter which way she moved it. He was intoxicated by her.

“Am I under some sort of spell or something? "No, but I think I am." He blurted out without hesitating, still holding her in his eyes. Typically he would have been nervous to say something in that manner, but he could barely think straight when he looked at her.

"So why did you pick me" Forrest's head filled with a million thoughts that swelled in the front of his brain all at once. For the first time in a long time, he was speechless. There were so many reasons.

"I don't need some fancy supernatural to hold on my arm. And originally this wasn't about love, but...Another reason I wanted a human is so that I may feel human." His head fell again and his jaw gripped tight as he thought back to his father yet again. He wanted that fucking man out of his mind. His fists tightened, impulsively. That's why he killed him. To silence the yelling. To silence the insults. To stop the pain. But it was still there, even after these decades.

His phone alerted him of a notification. His brows furrowed in confusion. He never used his phone except for business. So why was it going off? He didn't have an appointment until tomorrow afternoon. He slipped the Android device from his jacket pocket and saw it was a message from Jason. Shit, fuck! He thought, but coolly just responded, "I need to go." He stood abruptly and sprinted for the door to the house. "Go to your room and don't come out until I personally come tell you."

He was in the house now, drifting on the floors as he sprinted through the halls. "Go to your quarters!" He yelled out to the other servants. He didn't want them getting hurt, either. He was at the room in what seemed like forever, but he entered to see the fight had just begun. With no emotion, he grabbed the closest guard from behind and used his body weight to slam him into the floor. The guards head hit hard and Forrest heard a satisfying crack. He left him on the ground then grabbed a lycan by the throat, his fingers had elongated into incredibly sharp and long claws. He held one to the creatures neck as he wrestled to escape, but Forrest had little problems restraining him.

"What do you want?" He yelled through the crowd, saliva spewing when he did. He slightly lifted the lycan to show he was about to be extinguished if he didn't get some answers.

Lola pressed her cheek against his hand, he was so warm, it was so comforting. She closed her eyes and embraced the moment. She looked back up at him, her heart skipping a beat as he spoke of wanting to feel human. She understood him, she felt what he felt and she started to lean in for a kiss but their moment was interrupted by his smartphone. Alrighty then… Lola thought feeling slightly embarrassed as if she had done something wrong. She leaned back on her hands as he scurried to his feet. He seemed calm, but she could tell something was bothering him. “I need to go”
“Oh, did I-”
“Go to your room and don’t come out until I personally come tell you”
Lola’s heart sank as he sprinted off into the castle. Goosebumps rose on her arms as she glanced at her surroundings. “Okay then” she mumbled and got to her feet. She reached down and grabbed the blanket and began folding it as she hummed. “Well Lola, he may have ditched you out of nowhere and ordered you to go to your “room” but you know what, still one of the best dates I’ve been on” she sighed happily and hugged the folded blanket in awe. “You’re a dumbass, he’s a Demon Lo” she stated flatly. She shook her head and made her way into the castle.

Her surroundings were in chaos, servants were running in all sorts of directions in panic. Lola stood frozen in the entranceway to the garden and leaned forward glancing around, trying to make sense of the chaos. She was really high and found it difficult to focus, her mind was blurred.

She began to walk in the direction of her bedroom, too high to consider the actually urgency of the situation. Her path was interrupted when three guards stood in front of her This one’s Forrest’s the elf on the left side sneered
The little bitch that had to sneak her potion into the dungeon, because of you the “masters” get to slaughter another one of our people, this time, that’s not going to fly stated the fallen angel guard.
Lola lifted a brow and bluntly stated “Not my fault you can’t properly do your jobs”
The guards all exchanged looks and stepped towards her, Lola automatically took a step back. Run Lola. She turned on her heel and was about to bolt but the other guard that was also a fallen angel reached out and grabbed her by hair and yanked her towards them. She let out a small cry as she fell to the ground. “Weak human” he spat.
The guard began dragging her, she had a tight grasp on his wrist so he wouldn’t pull her hair out. Her nails were digging into his skin as she squeezed her eyes shut in agony.

Jason leaned forward into a fighting stance, he had no fear in his eyes as he watched his enemy charge at him. He smiled and with a swift motion he flipped into the air and kicked the guard in the face. The guard stumbled back pressing his hand against his cheek. Jason summoned his samurai sword and unsheathed it. He twirled it in his hand and swung it, with ease, he had sliced off the guards head.

He grinned and calmly walked towards the other enemies, there were three of them left now. Another guard began charging at Jason, he did a spin and mid-way he made eye contact with Vitane. His face was like stone as his eyes were so focused on her instead of the enemy but that did not weaken the attack. His sword sliced the enemy in half, cutting his torso from his legs, blood spewed out everywhere.

Jason sheathed his weapon, there was still two guards left but he didn’t care, Vitane had to be a priority. He walked over to her and took hold of her by the back of her head “Run to the far right of the room, there’s a mirror hanging there, press your hand against it. It will open a secret door, go through it and run to safety. Get to your room if possible. he instructed in a low and calming voice.

As he finished speaking, the guard that wasn’t in Forrest’s grasp charged at his back. Jason kissed Vitane on the cheek “Please go” he said softly. He spun on his heel to face his enemy and allowed his kitsune fangs to grow. Just as the guard reached him, Jason pounced on top of him and they fell to the ground. Jason leaned down and bit into his neck ripping off a chunk of his skin causing the guard to bleed out.

His mouth filled with blood, Jason got back up to his feet, his eyes became spotted. He wiped his mouth with the sleeve of his jacket and clenched his fist. He watched Forrest as he demanded answers from the lycan, Jasper, “Not worth the answers demon, just kill him.”

Vitane watched the room develop in awe. These two men were so graceful with their killing. Jason in particular, she couldn't tear her eyes away. Her jaw remained unhinged during the entire fight until Jason directly spoke to her.
It will open a secret door, go through it and run to safety. She nodded in understanding. His calming aura was so contagious. But how was he so well kept together during a fight? It was almost beautiful how trained he was. The kiss on the cheek caused Vitane to blush.

She followed his instructions and crept to the side of the room and pressed on the mirror he had pointed out. As she pressed, she seemed to be opening it.
"Cool." She said, remembering how drunk she was. She ended up in another room that looked like a guest bedroom. She shrugged and hurried out of the room.

Guiding yourself around the castle was...difficult. Doing it drunk? Practically impossible. Vitane slunk around every hallway, unsteadily wobbling from side to side throughout them.

Somehow Vitane circled around enough that she actually found her room. Her eyes widened and she leaned back while holding the molding of the doorway.

"How lucky am I?" She laughed and stumbled over to her bed and collapsed on it. She realized she had forgotten her boots back there. She giggled to herself then lit up a cigarette and enjoyed every drag.

Annoyed, Forrest watched Jason slaughter the rest of the group. After the last body fell, Forrest sighed heavily and slid the nail point across the lycan's throat. Blood spurted and he released the man from his grip, letting him bleed out on the floor.

Ten guards came rushing in at that moment and Forrest shook his hand to remove the blood from his nail.

"Get some maids in here at once," He ordered. He crossed the room to get to Jason.

"We could have at least found out who sent them," He said, scowling. He grunted and left the room. He needed to tell Lola everything was okay.

But apparently everything wasn't okay. He could feel the tension ahead in the castle and his eyes went completely black, filling the whites of his eyes. He sprinted and arrived in seconds. Seeing Lola on the floor made Forrest infuriated and without a seconds notice, he was in his full demon form. Spikes grew out of him and his tail moved around him constantly.

His eyes focused on the two guards to the side and they spontaneously burst into flames that engulfed their entire bodies. The guards screamed in agony, but Forrest chuckled and let out a sort of hissing laugh. He now averted his attention to the guard who had now decided to let go of Lola so she could get away. When she was out of harms reach, Forrest sank all of claws into the man's chest and lifted him up. He yelled in his face before releasing him from his grip and letting his body plunge to ground.

He stood there for a moment, seemingly admiring his kills. But he was letting his anger slowly flow out of him. He calmed himself. This was how he was able to control himself before. Yoga helped. So did meditating and working out. He tried everything and found his muse. He breathed out slowly and his form changed back into a human.

He was scared to look over. Terrified actually. He didn't mean to do that. She had probably run off already. He grunted as he closed his eyes then turned his head to see if Lola had seen.

Lola tried to squirm her way out of the guards hold but it was useless. Her adrenaline was pulsing and she started yelling “Let go of you me you fucking inbetweener!” The guard tugged at her hair and Lola let out a small yelp. Her body was giving out on her and she was slowly going into shock. She couldn’t fight much harder, they were five times her strength, she knew this fact and she knew it was worthless.

Amidst the chaos Lola could see Forrest sprinting towards her, her eyes grew wide as he approached, a feeling joy flooded through her until he became demonic. The guard must have caught onto his transformation too because he let go of her hair and broke out into a sprint, but it was useless. With ease, Forrest was able to eliminate the enemies. Lola crawled to a nearby wall and watched the scene in absolute horror.

When the guards fell to their deaths, Lola gawked. He was so smooth and powerful in his motions, his talent was like nothing she had ever seen but he was absolutely terrifying. She could see how tense he was when he returned to human form. She wanted to run but she was too frozen in place to make a move. When he turned to face her she sat there speechless for a long couple minutes. Finally she licked her lips and slowly got to her feet “Well” she started “This has been an interesting day, um, thank you for your chivalry, would have honestly died inside if anymore more of my hair came out...yea…” she swayed awkwardly back and forth and scratched her head. “I’m just gonna go to my room like you had instructed me and hide, for a while.” She nodded a couple times “Yup, that’s what I’ll do...alright well, goodnight…Forrest she said uneasily.

She turned on her heel, rubbing the back of her head Ouch, that will leave mark she thought sadly. She made her way up the grand staircase and dragged her feet across the hall. She stopped outside of her bedroom door and let out an exasperated huff. “Oh man” she rubbed her eyes “I’m so high. A shiver went down her spine, she glanced down the hall I really don’t want to be alone right now she thought in slight desperation. She slowly and uneasily walked over to Vitane’s door and gave a small knock in hopes that her prisoner friend had returned to her quarters.

“We could have at least found out who sent them”
Jason shrugged and replied casually “Doesn’t matter now demon, they’re all dead.”

When Forrest ran off, Jason didn’t bother to follow. He could hear the chaos with his fox ears and knew his brother would be okay. He gave his head a nod and his ears vanished, he ran a hand through his hair and sighed in exhaustion.

The maids began filing in and Jason crossed his arms unimpressed. He glanced over at Theresa, a maid, as she walked by “Sorry T, I know you just cleaned this place this morning”
The maid let out a small laugh Just another day master Jason, you should go rest, it will be all clean in the morning. Also, give me your jacket, you’re dripping blood.
Jason chuckled and slid out of his jacket Just another day, right?” He grinned and handed it to the maid. He made his way to the door and placed a hand against the frame as he glanced back at his disastrous lounger “Bastards” he mumbled and shook his head.

He walked over to the main entrance hall where he ran into Forrest who stood next to a couple dead bodies that were now being carried away by a few guards. He pulled a cigarette from his jean pocket and lit it with his thumb. He took a large drag and snicked “Just another day in paradise, demon.”

Vitane smoked her cigarette until the butt burned her lips.

"Yowch!" She complained, throwing the butt across the room in frustration. Her eyes widened and she quickly stood up to retrieve the butt all the while it was burning a hole in a silk table cover. She followed the smell and snatched the butt, cursing at herself. Damn, reflexes. She snuffed it out in the ashtray that was now decorating her bedside table. It held several other butts so clearly she had been chain smoking.

Vitane yawned and decided it was about that time so she stripped down to nothing again and hunted her closet for nightwear. An insubstantial knock was barely heard, but Vitane was right next to the door inside her closet. She peeked out, then swung the door open completely, revealing her bareness.

"Hey, Lola! Come on in! I was just looking for some pj's." It was as if being nude was second nature to her as she cast away from the doorway, and again delved into her closet to find something. She finally settled on a well picked outfit and scooted across the room in her now favored slippers to the bed and sat down, smiling at Lola. Even though they just met, Vitane was already grateful to have Lola here and to share some much needed girl time.

"Dude so like Jason and I were playing strip pool right? Well before anything crazy could happen these freaky dudes just bust in and then Forrest is there and then there was this huge fight and they were so amazing but it was pretty scary too and wow...today has been insane! I'm glad I have you though. We gotta be friends, because you're the only thing or person I feel like I can truly depend on in here. We need each other, ya know? Anyway, you may talk a lot, but I'm sure glad it's you and not some prissy, pansy, pussy girl." It was obvious from some slight slurring and her blunt honesty that she was a little intoxicated still and she giggled at Lola when their eyes met.

"I kissed you earlier!" When she said this she had rolled excitedly to lay on her stomach and one of her arms was completely extended to point out at Lola as she grinned from ear to ear. "Did you like it?"

Forrest turned away from her when he saw her barely held together composure. She had seen him for what he was. For what he really was. And no amount of chivalry or compliments could expunge that thought from her mind now. His teeth were clamped together behind tight lips. His jaw was involuntarily trembling. He wanted to yell out in exasperation. How could he have let himself lose control like that?! And in front of her?!

He listened to her words, not looking at her again, completely embarrassed and defeated. He wanted to slink down and cry like a baby. He wanted to hurt himself in some way as a punishment. His nostrils flared and he breathed angry hot breath from them as she turned to leave. He said nothing. Did nothing. He couldn't allow himself to wander off far or he may hurt someone innocent in his state of mind. He stood there alone and quiet, slowly, very slowly, trying to practice his breathing. As much as he didn't want to, he at least felt grounded in his thoughts. Barely.

Jason popped off the mouth behind him, but Forrest wasn't in the mood for his dirty names or smart-alecky attitude.
"For once, just shut your godforsaken mouth." He spat as he whisked away around the corner. His brows stayed furrowed as he barreled through the halls. Any maid or guard that wasn't assisting the ones in the bar lounge took one look at his face and found themselves going the opposite way they were headed. When either of the brothers were mad, everyone scurried in fear.

Forrest was at his room in the attic soon after. He had started on nearly the complete opposite side of the castle and had had to climb numerous sets of stairs. He sighed and collapsed on his bed.

Lola’s eyes widened in surprise as Vitane opened the door fully naked. She couldn’t help but smirk, this girl was so confident in her bareness. Lola stepped through the door and glanced around the room, observing it’s gothic nature and modern uniqueness. She could tell that Vitane felt right at home in this place.

She stood in the entryway until Vitane picked out an outfit and sat on the bed. Lola followed her and plopped down on the edge and let out a small sigh. She wanted to rant but to her surprise Vitane went off, slurring some words here and there but she seemed so excited.

“Prissy, pansy, pussy girl….” Lola burst out laughing “Wow, okay yeah, I’m glad I’m not that too” she chimed. “You’re so ecstatic about your night, you must not have seen what I saw…I saw Forrest turn full demonic. He was worse looking than my research. Dude, it was horrifying. I usually don’t come crawling but I’m genuinely afraid and I think we need to be friends too. This was some first day and I honestly don't think I can make it to my last without you.”

Despite her head spinning being next to this girl was somewhat soothing. She felt human again. “I kissed you earlier!” Lola blushed immediately then couldn't help but burst out laughing “Damn girl you did, you’ve been getting all kinds of action tonight haven’t you? Urg. I leaned in to kiss Forrest” she shivered. “But he ran off to the chaos you speak of. He told me to head to my room, was about too but some asshole guard grabbed me by my hair and dragged me until Forrest came to my rescue. I couldn't help but realize how helpless I am against these beasts. I need to spend my spare time, if Forrest will allow me, to conjure some potions and find a way to just, to just defend myself.” She felt exasperated, her cheeks were flushed and she was clearly exhausted.

“Did you like it?
A warm smile appeared on Lola’s face, this girl was not what she had expected her to be. “Well, to be honest, you’re the best girl I’ve kissed and oddly enough, I’ve kissed a lot of girls. Jason must have just melted into you” she broke off into a laugh.

“Listen, as much as I came here to calm down, I don’t know why I care so much...but be careful. This place may seem like a palace but we’re not safe here…” She placed her hand on top of Vitane’s and squeezed. “Thanks for letting me in, your room rocks by the way” she said lightly and got to her feet and left the room without another word. She strolled to her bedroom and quietly shut the door behind her. She stripped down from her clothes and left them in a pile by her feet. She didn’t bother grabbing any pajamas, she preferred to sleep naked anyways. She fell forward onto the bed, her mind racing as she pulled the blankets over her head. She breathed heavily, counting down from a hundred in her head as she fell, uneasily, into a dream.

When Forrest snapped and stormed off Jason blew air out of his nose in response. He ran a couple fingers through his hair, the maids passing by were peeking at him to see if he too, was angry. But Jason was unnaturally calm. He shoved his hands into his jean pockets and began wandering through the castle to his bedroom. He reflected on thoughts of Vitane and became frustrated with himself The fuck did I do? Hypnotise myself? Jeez man, don’t do that. She’s your slave and you can’t let your guard down.

He walked up a winding staircase of the castle towers until he came upon a hall. Down the hall there was only one door, it was black with a skull knob. He walked into his bedroom and pulled off his v-neck shirt. He had a few more tattoos on his torso but not as many as on his arms. He stripped down to his silk boxers and he tossed his shirt and jeans into his laundry basket. He flung himself onto his bed and laid on his back. He stared up at the ceiling, he did everything in his power to remain present. He didn’t want to sleep, he hated sleeping, in all truth he didn’t really need it, only a couple times a month but tonight he was exhausted. His eyes became droopy and he couldn’t fight it anymore as he fell into a deep slumber.

Jason woke in a hellish dream. There was a house in flames in front of him, nothing unusual but the setting seemed a little too familiar. He grimaced at the scene feeling uneasy. Usually he was not bothered by his arson but something about this moment was unsettling. He brushed a hand through his hair and looked at his hand after he did, it was covered in blood “What the…” he mumbled. A sudden high pitch scream sounded in the distance, Jason’s head snapped up in horror. He had heard that cry before. He stared at the house, his eyebrows furrowed as if he was searching for something. He gave his head a shake, trying to escape whatever was about to come. He took a step back from the house and exhaled trying to calm his nerves. “Just walk away” he told himself. He turned on his heel and standing in front of him was a severely wounded and blood covered Vitane. Her eyes were black and the ends of her hair were on fire. She had a pained expression on her face as she said “From me?”

Vitane laughed with Lola at the appropriate moments and listened when she spoke.

"Damn girl you did, you’ve been getting all kinds of action tonight haven’t you?" Thankfully she wasn't sober and she was lacking in ability to overthink that statement to it's depth. Instead she cracked up with Lola again and couldn't help but feel so normal around Lola. Well at least the most normal she had felt all day. It was a comforting feeling. Vitane grinned when Lola agreed to be friends and they seemed to be on the exact same page as to how desperately they needed the other. Not only to potentially escape together, but to keep a sane mind.

"I leaned in to kiss Forrest” Vitane wanted to shriek and gossip about every detail together, but refrained when glancing up she saw just how serious Lola was. She almost looked to be visibly shivering. The poor girl was terrified. Sharing in her worry, Vitane felt a shiver slither up her spine. Lola was right. Vitane was too eager about all of this. Too comfortable. She needed to remember that she didn't come here cheerful. She was brought here angry, and even more so when she had been thrown into some nasty dungeon.

Vitane's spirit suddenly surged with anger. "...some asshole guard grabbed me by my hair and dragged me..." She jumped to her feet impulsively with almost a, "Let me at 'em!" look on her face, but Lola continued to explain Forrest had taken care of it. She sat back down, uncertainly, and listened still. She imagined seeing Jason in full form in the same way. Would she have been scared of him too? She wasn't sure. But this was definitely too deep of a topic to be thinking about for a person in her state. She zeroed in on Lola's eyes again and tried to stay focused to her voice.

"...you’re the best girl I’ve kissed..." Vitane's chest puffed up and she jokingly held her head high in affirmation. She smirked then returned to her usual posture and busted out laughing at how silly she was being. It was definitely past her bedtime as she was showing some sure signs of delirium.

"...but we’re not safe here…” Vitane slumped down. What a defeating thought to be left with. She waved goodbye to Lola and leaned back against the pillows of the bed. She pulled the blankets up over her chest and situated herself to a comfortable position. She tried not to dwell on Lola's words, but they warped and changed in her mind as she was lulled to sleep and she was driven into a nightmare.

After what felt like eons, Forrest eventually moved to pick himself up out of bed. He had to do something to distract himself. These thoughts would kill him. Just as the last nearly had. New reminders of the past came swarming up. The name Evie circled around his head and Forrest forcefully yelled to try and rid himself of his own personal demons.

"Get the fuck out of my head!!!" He screamed, falling to the ground in defeat. He crumpled there, his breathing heavy and his eyes watering. Spittle surrounded his lips due to his shouting and he swiped the back on his hand lazily across his face.

He definitely wasn't sleeping tonight and he knew that for a fact. He helped himself up and went to one of the corners of the room where there was an easel folded. He expanded the legs of it out in the middle of the room and stood there in front of his, his breathing still somewhat labored. After a couple of minutes he forcefully attacked the paper on the easel with a pencil and began sketching as the house gradually was veiled in silence.

Over the course of a week Lola spent much of her time apart from Forrest. She interacted with him as little as possible, feeling uneasy every time he approached. Sure he potentially saved her life, but she needed some space and oddly enough, he gave it to her. She spent everyday exploring through a new part of the house, a maid had given her a map. Most nights she or Vitane would stop by each other’s rooms and spoke of the day they had, Lola was growing to like her more and more.

On the third day Vitane had joined her for an excursion since Jason had disappeared for the day without warning. The girls spent their time in the library filtering through hundreds of books and blabbering in excitement at all the literature they dreamed of reading.

On the fifth day, a maid had shown Lola to an alchemy lab, this was surprising. She didn’t think she’d be allowed to dabble in her potion making for fear that she would be able conjure up something to help her escape. She spent the next two days with her head in her alchemy books testing out potions and combining ingredients she only dreamed of having. She only left when it was time for meals and asked to be excused every time she was done. There was a glow in her eyes, despite the chaos of her first day, the calm of the week had made her more comfortable here to the point that she nearly forgot her desire to leave.

At present, she was dabbling in a very difficult potion, the hardest she had ever attempted to make, an amplifier. This potion could make one’s powers double in strength and make any effect last twice as long. It was tricky because the ingredients had to be precise and they weren’t the easiest things to handle. She sat back on her lab stool and huffed in frustration, this was her third try “It’s goop” she mumbled. She glanced over at her ingredients, she was running low “Why am I so eager to succeed at this one? I wasted all of yesterday. I’ve been up since four am...I can’t waste another day trying to get this right. Urg. I could have made five health elixirs by now.” she grumbled.

Jason was shaken enough by his dream of Vitane that he avoided any physical interactions with her. Nonetheless he spent a good chunk of his days by her side but he was always spaced out and disconnected. His face remained blank most of the time and he always appeared calm despite his mind going off on gruesome tangents.

Every evening after dinner, Jason would go off to relieve some stress and burn a new house. Despite his nightmare he ironically found comfort in his hobby.

At night Jason would go off on his motorcycle into town and meet with a few friends. He partied and played poker. He always got a little too drunk and broke out into a bar fight with a different creature every night. Some mornings he’d return with a bruise or two but he never acknowledged them or commented when asked.

On the third day, Jason never returned from his night out. He spent the day with his good friend Eli, a centaur, they sword fought in a field for hours and got hammered through the course of the day. They parted ways as the sun began to set and Jason spent the rest of his night drunkenly burning not one but six different houses. The cries from the people inside gave him goosebumps as he watched them engulf into flames. A few of the town guards had tried to arrest him but Jason slaughtered them too. He walked home that night in his kitsune form and had only returned to his human self as he approached the gates to his castle. By the time he arrived home, it was morning. He casually made his way to breakfast and ate in silence like nothing had happened.

At present Jason sat in his bar lounge, there was no trace of the blood bath from a week ago. He sat at a table with three friends, Eli, Zack the vampire and Elise the sea nymph.
Why the fuck do we play against this guy!?” Eli groaned, and tossed his cards on the table.
Jason grinned and slid the pile of chips at the center of the table towards him.
Damn Kitsune Elise teased.
Jason ran a hand through his hair and chuckled “I offered video games, we don’t place bets on those.”
Fuck man, all three of us were cheating admitted Zack How the hell did you beat us?
Jason shrugged “You guys aren’t very good cheaters” he mused.
Jason got up from the table and made his way to the bar. He poured himself a rye and coke, he was buzzed. His mates all followed behind him, Zack and Elise sat on barstools and Eli leaned against the counter.
“So how’s the new slave? Elise asked curiously.
Jason lifted a brow, he took a sip of his drink and shook his head.
That bad huh? Zack stated.
Jason let out a small sigh, his face became hard as he spoke “I think it’s time for you guys to leave, it’s almost dawn.”
Come on Jace, what’s with you this week? Eli questioned.
Jason shook his head and shrugged “Nothing man, she’s just another human” he said flatly.

Vitane's dream had consisted of fire, a lot of screaming, and only one familiar face was being consumed by the flames. Her grandma shrieked as the flames grew to completely engulf her. Vitane awoke with a start. She looked at the clock and the purple numerals read 7:27. Well, she wasn't going back to sleep after that.

Over the period of the rest of the day, Vitane wandered the halls, not caring if she got lost or came back to the same room twice, it always seemed like there was something new to look at. That night she had tried on several outfits in her closet, just having fun looking at all of the amazing clothes she always dreamed of wearing, yet could never afford.

Nearly every night, she and Lola would sneak off to guest room's or random broom closets and smoke together and giggle again like they were teenagers who could get in trouble if they got caught. It was fun. Feeling almost child-like because of the wonder and thrills she had here. But every night she would coach herself and remind herself that this was only temporary. She couldn't let herself get close to really any of them. Maybe Lola. But not the boys. She couldn't truly open up. She wouldn't share her past. Gruesome memories haunted her and she never shared them. And she probably never would. She had complained during the struggles but no one reached out to her so at this point, if someone did, she blew them off. No one truly cared to know her. To know why she ended up sleeping with so many people. To know why she experimented with so many drugs. Especially to know why she starved herself and forced herself to vomit when she was weak enough to give into temptation. No one really wanted to know why.

With or without smoking with Lola, late at night when the maids stopped scurrying and she knew she wouldn't get any surprise guests, she drank herself to sleep. She had never admitted it, but she had been on the verge of becoming an alcoholic for months.

Through the week when she was tired of trying to find ways around not eating dinner, she eventually started skipping meals. There was no point to go just to pretend. She would hide away in a game room or another smaller library to avoid questions. But she at least always made it to dinner since it was her favorite meal. She would pick at the food and stir it around her plate, then ask a maid to retrieve her dish when the others weren't looking. Later on she would heave it into a toilet and cry at its base. She had grown to hate this disease. But she was so far in she couldn't see a way out and it was her form of self punishment.

After four or five nights it seemed, Vitane was tired of sharing nights with Lola or alone. She was here for Jason wasn't she? She wanted to see more of him. She threw on a sexy outfit and headed for the bar lounge. She hadn't been as smart as Lola and gotten a map so she needed a couple of maids to point her in the right direction. She needed to remember to get a darn map.

She walked through the doors of the bar lounge unannounced, and although quite nervous about Jason's reaction, she thought she would stir things up some. She grinned devilishly and traipsed in, heading straight for Jason.

"Hey, you. I've been missing you. She said, her eyes melting into his but she tried to stay confident in herself. She smiled up at him and ignored the rest of the room.

After everything that had occurred, Forrest stayed strictly in his room except when he needed a break for fresh air or to take a quick shower. He skipped nearly every meal and if he did come down to eat he was always late and he would get his food to go. He wanted to be upset at Lola for being so reserved, but he couldn't blame her so he just blamed himself.

He spent long nights into early mornings making sketch after sketch, his hands and even face sometimes were constantly covered in charcoal. Half of the dishes he returned to the maids were covered in the black soot. He washed his hands after drawing, but his hands eventually took to staining. Every drawing he made, he would cast it aside once nearly complete and start over or start a new idea. Pictures of fire. Pictures of a gorgeous woman with dark hair and sad eyes. More of creatures that looked similar to him. Demons. Others were pictures that he had dreamed of.

When he wasn't drawing, he requested Nathaniel, his favorite butler, to retrieve some of his favored textbooks and novels. A stack about psychology, witchcraft, folk lore, fairy species, and then novels like Thomas Harris's Silence of The Lambs and Yann Martel's The Life of Pi. He read them all cover to cover over the week, but finally he was sick of this avoiding and these childish feelings. He needed to confront her.

He had a feeling he knew exactly where she would be. When he had picked Lola out of the several manila folders, he had immediately gone to the trouble of designing and building her alchemy lab. He did it alone, much combated by the servants, but he refused. He had wanted to do it alone, just for her. He had placed it at the end of his hall and made it to her swiftly.
"Alright!" He said, busting through the half opened door most likely startling her.
I-I can't do this anymore. Y-ya gotta tell me what you're thinking. I can't.....I can't think about how scared you were anymore. I need something to replace that image." He looked up from the ground suddenly and closed the distance between them in two steps. He was now holding her face.
"Lola, ya gotta forgive me. I-I-I don't want you to see that side of me, but I had to protect you." It wasn't that he stuttered, it was almost like every time he talked to her he could barely get the words out. Like word vomit mixed with overwhelming emotions of compassion and bashfulness towards her, but nervousness to even barge into the room.

Lola jumped in surprise and placed a hand on her heart as Forrest burst through the door.
“Oh my god.”
”I-I can't do this anymore. Y-ya gotta tell me what you're thinking. I can't.....I can't think about how scared you were anymore. I need something to replace that image."
“Forrest I’m just-” she began but suddenly he was right in face with her cheeks in his hands, she jolted her head back.
"Lola, ya gotta forgive me. I-I-I don't want you to see that side of me, but I had to protect you."

Lola bit her lower lip as her heart skipped a beat. He was so pained, she could feel her stomach churn with butterflies.
“Forrest” she said calmly and a warm smile appeared on her face. She took hold of his hands and dropped them to their sides without letting go “Please relax” she gave his hand a squeeze and let out a small sigh. “I’m okay, really.”

She wanted to discuss everything that happened but her eyebrows furrowed in sudden frustration. She shifted her eyes from his gaze, she opened her mouth to speak but she quickly shut it. She was perplexed, her mind was blank. “I uh” she stared at his chest as she tried to recollect her thoughts. She could feel her palms going sweaty and a searing pained pulsed in her temple. She winced and shook her head “I’m sorry...I uh... I actually don’t know what you’re talking about.” she stated honestly.

She let go of his hands and slid off her stool. She played with the lower fabric of her dress as she paced and pondered. She pressed a couple fingers on her temple, she took a breath and closed her eyes. Finally, after about a minute, she stopped in her tracks and looked up at him “I don’t know why I was so upset, honestly after a couple days I was fine again...I just figured you were avoiding me.”

Her eyes grew wide, she knew that wasn’t true. She knew this was because of her but she couldn’t at all remember why. Why is he so pained? What happened...when was the last time we actually spoke?” her mind flooded Lola, he seems really hurt. Say something, talk to him about it...but I can’t remember! she argued.

She began to fidget with her fingernails, as she searched and searched for a memory. She felt like child being accused of stealing someone's toy. Her cheeks were flushed, you could see the panic in her eyes. In effort to calm herself down she began counting in her head 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 She took another breath and remet his gaze, her mood shifted, she shrugged her shoulders “It must not have been that bad if I can’t remember” she said lightly.

The group was startled when Vitane burst through the lounge. Their conversation had stopped mid-sentence as they watched her strut up to Jason with great confidence. ”Hey you. I’ve been missing you.
Jason lifted a brow at her as he observed her outfit, he opened his mouth to speak but Zack was quick to jump in Damn Jace! And here we thought she was making you miserable. The group chuckled and Jason winced uncomfortably. He ran a hand through his hair and was about to say something again but this time Eli budded in. Lookin good sweetheart, why don’t you give us a little dance? he winked.
“Alright guys” Jason said with a grin on his face but the irritation was clear in his voice.
”What’s wrong Jace? You use to make the other girls dance for us”
“Zack just-”
"Yea agreed, remember that last girl, fuck what was her name? She lasted like three days!"
"Avery! Her name was Avery" Elise chimed.
"I remember Avery, damn she was a smoke show"
"So smoking Jace set her on fire” Eli laughed.
“Seriously that’s enough” Jason snapped.
Oh come on Jason! She’s just a human Zack teased and reached out to touch Vitane.

Jason grabbed Zacks arm and twisted it, in one swift motion he placed his hand on the back of Zack’s head and smashed his face into the counter, it instantly knocked him out.
"JASON!" Elise shouted and reached down to help Zack who had fallen off his stool. Eli bent down to help as well. Jason’s ears were ringing as he stared at the blood streak on the counter. “Go” he calmly stated.
"Eli he’s bleeding" Elise said whispered.
"Let's teleport to his house, lay him on the couch until he recovers" Eli responded.
They each took a hold of Zack, "You need to chill Jace, that’s too many this week" Eli cautioned. He exchanged a look with Elise "Let’s go" he said and pressed a button on his smartwatch. A vibrant light appeared in their place and just like that, they were gone.

Jason clenched his fist as he turned his torso towards Vitane. He could feel Vitane’s warmth as she stood closely to him. His mind was racing and his body was stiff. Finally he took a breath and glanced up at her, his tension quickly faded. She looked beautiful, he stared deeply into her eyes for a moment but then gave his head a shake as if cautioning himself. He took a step towards her and placed a hand on her hip. With the other hand he gently caressed her from her shoulder to her stomach. “Dammit” he mumbled and dropped both his hands. He turned away from her and reached for his rye and coke. He took a sip but then downed it without further thought. He smashed the empty glass onto the counter, his face became hard. He took a step back from her and then another. He brushed his hand through his hair and turned on his heel letting out a frustrated huff as he began to pace. His eyes were spotted, his adrenaline was pulsing and he was fairly buzzed. Finally, he snapped “What the hell are you doing Vitane? Why are you dressed like that! It’s barely eight am.”

Vitane almost instantly felt uncomfortable and exposed. Her eyes darted from each friend, then back to Jason as their disrespectful comments poured out. Yes, she may have been accustomed to being looked at as something, but it didn't mean she liked it or let people get away with it.

"...why don’t you give us a little dance?"
"Hey, fuck off, creep!" She spat, feeling her distance from Jason close some. She didn't mean to press into him more, but unlike any other man in her life, she felt safe with him. He hadn't brought out her vile temper, but something different altogether. A trust. A trust that no man had ever earned from her. And she hadn't even realized it yet.

"So smoking Jace set her on fire” Vitane audibly gasped and released her hold on Jason as if he had burned her to the touch. Set her on fire? Her eyes watered, but she quickly looked down and blinked them away. How could she be so stupid? Coming here was just the tip of the iceberg. She was so eager to impress him. But who? She didn't actually know him. Just like he didn't really know her. She wanted to leave, to run back to her room or back to Lola so she could break down, but Jason stirred much faster than Vitane could.

She saw the hand that had reached for her get broken behind the vampire's head. Her eyes widened into huge saucers. She'd never seen someone break a vampire. He just unleashed, all of a sudden, and slammed the vampire's head against the bar. His other friends were freaking out too and in a flash of bright light, they had vanished. Vitane didn't move, but stood there in silence, watching Jason with her eyes. She wasn't sure how to react, but he did.

“What the hell are you doing Vitane? Why are you dressed like that! It’s barely eight am.” That did it. Her worry of his reaction melted away and was replaced with boiling blood. He'd hit a nerve.

"What do you mean what am I doing? I clearly came to see you, but I guess I'm just interrupting? And what the fuck do you mean what am I wearing? You weren't complaining the first night I was here. Besides, I went over the top for you but again, guess I'm not welcome." She turned to leave the room.

Forrest was utterly confused. His arms dropped to his sides from holding her cheeks. He was so stunned, he couldn't place words in his mouth. He just watched Lola try to recollect herself under furrowed brows. His concerned eyes followed her and his mouth hung open slightly in awe that she was just passing this off as being him who had been the one ignoring.

He opened his mouth a little wider to say something but stopped himself, starting to actually worry for Lola. Was she sure that's how she felt? He had texted her on her new phone, and unless she wasn't a texter, she was ignoring him.

"...I just figured you were avoiding me.” Again he looked shocked, he went to hold her face again, to soothe or remedy whatever was clouding her mind.
"Darling, I could never ignore you. If anything, it was harder to stay away than a lot of occurrences in my life have been." But as she progressed, it was obvious that she had no recollection of what had happened in the halls that first night. He didn't press, he didn't want to confuse her further. He sighed and dropped his hands, then smiled at her with his most genuine look he could muster.

"Well, that settles it, I'll just have to carry on like you have been," He stated, trying to smooth past this awkward mix up. "So what are we making?" He asked, almost childlike. He sat atop the extra bar stool he had provided for days when he wanted to play in the alchemy lab with her. "Ah, an amplifier. Never could get that one myself. Lost patience. Were you able to keep the consistency? That was personally the hardest part to me.

A feeling of relief overcame her as Forrest lightened up, dropping the subject. She was scared he would have pried and that the situation would have gotten messy, she was thankful for his patience.

“So what are we making?”

Lola watched him as he took a seat, a warm smile appeared on her face but with his back too her she began to curse under her breath. Fuck, why can’t I remember, what did you do Lo?
She gave her head a nod as if trying to make the negative thoughts fade. She approached Forrest and sat down on her stool next to him as he enthusiastically spoke of her potion.

“I can’t figure it out, the last time I messed up a potion this much was for oblitus, took me a long time to perfect that one. God knows how rare the ingredients are too, but someone once gave me a large supply of them. Coincidently I don’t remember who or for what reasons but I have yet to run out of those ingredients. I don’t honestly know why I’m so keen on succeeding at this one though, maybe to amplify my memories so I can actually remember significant shit in my life.” She broke off into a laugh, she hated forgetting things but she tried to make light of it.

She felt a sudden nervousness as Forrest focused in on her last attempted potion, how was he so calm with her? “Thank you” she said softly “I know I can be frustrating and I know for a fact that demons don’t have the best patience” she giggled. “But I guess not all stereotypes are true.”

She dropped her gaze from his and stared at the table in front of her. She focused in on her beaker and then smacked the table in excitement. “Oh my god that’s it!” she grabbed the beaker and placed it in front of Forrest’s face “Spit in this!”

Jason’s face went from infuriated to suddenly calm as Vitane blew up. Goosebumps rose on his arms as he watched her lash out at him, why was he so sadistic? Why did he love being yelled at by her, why was she even more beautiful now that she was flustered? Jason’s eyes narrowed as she turned to leave the room, he suddenly burst out laughing. He shook his head and took a few strides in front of her to stop her from going further. He placed his hand on her shoulder and broke off in a chuckle. He was genuinely amused and just stared at her for a moment. But then his laugh fell silent and a touch of sadness painted his face “Fuck” he mumbled and dropped his gaze.

He let his arm swing to his side and plopped down on a nearby loveseat. He dropped his head in his hands and rubbed his face as he let out a frustrated sigh. “Fuck” he snapped and sat up against the sofa.
“I would have burned any girl for speaking to me like that you know?” he bluntly stated. He ran a hand through his hair as he watched her. “Damn” he mumbled and he became spaced out, falling into dark thoughts. He checked out for a couple minutes, feeling himself calm down despite the awful scenarios going through his mind.

Something about Vitane's energy and who she was made Jason feel empathetic for the first time in a really long time. He glanced up at her and just melted. “I didn’t mean to lash out at you. I’m sorry” he apologized. A weird feeling pulsed through him, he never apologized for his actions, ever. He blew air out of his nose and his face returned calm and blank.

When Vitane sat next to him he propped himself up off the back of the seat to face her. He brushed some hair out of her face and rested his palm on her cheek. “Why are you so determined to impress me” he asked.

Vitane huffed frustrated, and remained facing away from him as to not prod her temper. How dare he. Staying turned around in her own thoughts ended up hindering her further, but Jason came and held her for a moment. She didn't meet his eyes or return his sentimental touches. Then he cursed and looked so hurt, in a flash Vitane shared his rapport and wanted to hold him all over again. Damn her hormonal emotions.

She followed him with her eyes as he sat on the couch. She searched his movements and facial expressions to see what caused him to curse aloud. He seemed frustrated, but calm. Much like she was in this moment. They practically mirrored one another. Vitane raised a hand and began to spin her nose ring, an annoying habit she gained after acquired the piercing.

She slowly walked to Jason as he spoke.
“I would have burned any girl for speaking to me like that you know?” Vitane scoffed.
"Well, obviously I knew that was a possibility. But I don't give a fuck. You insulted my style and questioned my reasoning. I do not appreciate it," She said very matter-o-factly. She knew the danger all too well after watching the random vampire get his arm broken right in front of her. But when she was mad, she never thought of the consequences. If she had something to say, you were going to hear about it and she would gladly take the burning because at least she stuck up for herself. She sat next to him, calm, but a fire in her eyes to snap at him again if he pushed her.

“I didn’t mean to lash out at you. I’m sorry” Sorry? Vitane looked down into her hands and repeated the word several times in her mind. No man had ever sincerely apologized to her before. No one was sorry for taking advantage of her or raping her over and over. They would laugh, pat her on the back, and say, "Until next time.".
Vitane forcibly shook her head hard. She didn't need to think of them at a time like this. She tried to really connect and realize that this sorry was truly earnest.
Naturally, every ounce of irritation and restrained emotion released. How did he do that to her? As if when he spoke, she were under a spell.

Vitane sighed and pulled her legs up on the couch and leaned against Jason.
"What the fuck is wrong with us?" She asked, her head on his shoulder.
“Why are you so determined to impress me” Vitane threw her head back laughing then looked at him.
"I mean I'm not really trying. All I did was add a bit of kink to my outfit. I can actually try though, if you want." She laughed again and stretched up some to kiss him on the cheek.

While Lola spoke to herself -which Forrest easily heard- he searched his mind for any knowledge he had that could somehow enhance her memory. Although he didn't want her to remember that particular memory, he did however, want her to remember every second of their time together. He never wanted her to forget a single kiss, a single touch, a single word. Forrest already cherished their time together and his heart ached for Lola because she could not preserve the same memories.

Lola came around to sit with him and she began on a spiel. She mentioned her reasoning for making the potion and his heart sunk. But he was also encouraged. He needed to aid her in any way he could to relieve her forgetful mind. He could tell she was trying to brush it off, but Forrest took it much more seriously and you could tell by his silence and solemn expression that he was extremely determined to fix this.

“Thank you” Forrest looked up at her, all of the worried thoughts vanished as he looked into her dark eyes. A sharp pang hit his stomach and heart. He wanted to hold her, to kiss her smooth lips.
"You have nothing to thank me for," He replied earnestly, turning his head away.
"I do it for you. He chuckled to himself, thinking of different moments where he definitely had not been patient.
"I'm not patient with Jason. In fact, I give him a really hard time and bear down on him...kinda like a father should....." He trailed off, going back to the same thoughts that kept him up at night. He focused back on her before he got too swept away.
"It comes easy with you, for some reason. I want to be patient for you, but I don't ever feel pressed or annoyed. I feel......" He had to stop himself, he couldn't say that word. Not here. This wasn't the time. He looked at her and smiled.
"I feel like I could do this with you every day." His eyes crinkled from the smile making his face light up.

Lola got excited as she realized what she'd been missing. Forrest collected a small wad of spit in his mouth then let it fall into the beaker she had given him. He handed it to her and she went to work. Forrest had a feeling the potion would work this time.

Lola’s heart sank as he spoke so fondly of her and how patience came easy. It was ironic, no one was ever patient with her because she never stopped talking, or she said too much or was too aggressive when it came to personal opinion. It didn’t make sense to her, she didn’t understand why he gave a damn, and again, why she was chosen.

“I feel like I could do this with you every day”
But why? she thought, feeling a strike of sadnesses pulse in her heart Why? I’ll never remember it, the good or the bad. He’ll look back fondly when all I can do is look back blankly and spew out random facts that have nothing to do with this...pull yourself together Lo! Enjoy the moment for what it is.

When Forrest spit in the beaker, her conjuction immediately started to smoke. She placed the beaker on the table and jumped off her stool “It’s working!” she cheered and bounced in excitement “It’s because you can conjure fire, it’s in your DNA! It liquified my goop.” She placed her arms on the table and rested her chin on her forearm as she admire the yellow liquid. She straightened up and sighed, feeling pleased. She took the mixture and poured it into a small vial and rested it on the table “You literally just saved me from another searing headache! Alright, I’ll test this out later! I need to celebrate. Come on I have to show you something!” She took hold of Forrest’s hand and tugged at him.

She lead him through the hall and down a flight of stairs, her hair whipped behind her as she scurried. “I found this amazing room! It wasn’t on the map the maid gave me and when I found it, it was by accident. It looked like no one had been there in decades.” They made their way inside a small bar room, Lola let go of Forrest’s hand and pulled the cap off a crystal bottle of Whiskey. A door opened in the far corner, she glanced over at Forrest excitedly. She ran up to him again and took hold of his hand. They walked inside this dome like auditorium. The ground was grass, it was literally an empty space with the walls and ceilings looking like the night sky “It’s always night in here!” Lola chimed. “Or so I thought…” She waved her hand and their surroundings turned into a beach front, they were suddenly standing on sand, the ocean could be seen in the distance, the waves were peaceful, you could hear them crashing on the shore. The sky was clear blue and a small breeze could be felt. Lola’s eyes sparkled in excitement, and she waved her hand again. This time their surroundings became a modern cafe.

“It’s real, but it isn’t.” she pulled one of the cafe chairs and pushed it back under the table “All virtual, but I can feel it...I’m curious as to why this wasn’t on the map.” She shrugged and twirled. Their surroundings transformed again, this time they stood on a hill, the sky became dark. All was silent, but only for a moment, when a sudden burst of color illuminated the dome as firework explosions covered the night sky.

Jason’s cheeks flushed when Vitane kissed him, it had been years since a girl made him feel smitten. “Well, you’re trying harder than any other girl has in a while. Can’t say I blame them, I’m kindof a jackass” he chuckled.

He placed a hand on her knee and stared briefly at the floor in front of him, his buzz was dying down. He glanced up at her, what was this feeling? His heart was warm, it was like the flames of a fire every time he looked at her. He wanted her...no...he needed her.

He turned his body fully towards her and rested on his arm. He brushed his hand through her hair as he stared deeply into her eyes. “You’re so beautiful” he said gently I-I never want to hurt you” his eyebrows furrowed and his voice quivered. He recalled when him and Forrest were filtering through the files to choose their girls. He didn’t care to pick one but Forrest insisted It was your idea Jason, just pick one! he could hear his brother say. He had scanned over a few dozen files before he stumbled upon Vitane’s. Something about her had just pulled him in, it was instant. He read her file carefully, over and over again. He read it everyday until she arrived. He hadn’t prepared much for arrival, when he hasn’t reading her file he was too busy distracting himself from thoughts of her, he didn’t, he couldn’t get invested. She looked so pained, in her pictures she was smiling but the torture was clear in her eyes, he needed to save her. This past week he had put in minimal effort, he had disconnected himself, how was she still here?

Jason pulled his lip in and began pushing his lip ring with his tongue. His heart began to race as he wrapped an arm around her waist and gently pulled her closer towards him. He placed his other hand on her cheek and caressed it. Then, he leaned in and pressed his lips against hers. At first he was tender, melting into her as he felt her soft lips against his. He pulled her again even closer to him, almost on top of him this time. He grabbed some fabric from her shirt and squeezed it. He could feel his heart pulsing through his neck. He pulled away to take a breath and stared deeply into her eyes. He placed his hand beneath her knees and scooped her up into his arms. He stood up and watch her as he walked. He made his way over to a mirrored door, he leaned back against it and pushed it open. He stepped through and into a bedroom and plopped her down on the bed. He leaned over her, his hands pressing into the duvet, his face just an inch from hers. He kissed her again, this time more aggressively.

His mind was racing, it was yelling at him. Stop Jace! She’s not like the others, don’t do this to yourself. Stop! His mind then proceeded to flash disturbing images, images of the other girls, past relationships, the hatred, flames, anything that could divert his attention. But he didn’t stop, he kissed her neck and took a breath. He began to play with the ring on her shirt, he wanted to tear it off of her and so he did.

Vitane giggled with Jason.
"Well, I can see where they get that from," She joked, smiling while keeping her eyes on him. It was almost like she could feel his thoughts because as she watched him, her own heart felt completely warmed and full.

She blushed when he complimented her and she returned with, "You're pretty beautiful too."
"I-I never want to hurt you” Vitane was glad to hear this, but it made her wonder if beforehand, would he have wanted to? From the conversation his friend's had earlier, it seemed like that was his MO. She tried not to dwell on that thought for too long.

Vitane stared into Jason's eyes as their amount of touching grew. Now she wasn't thinking of anything but him and this moment. At the same time they eased into a kiss and it was like fireworks from day one all over again. It was a gentle, passion-filled kiss that quickly morphed into what she had been fantasizing about since their first night together. She moaned lightly into his lips when he squeezed her and she was overwhelmed with desire. She chuckled lightly when he picked her up. Finally! She said in her head as she stared up at him with bedroom eyes.

They reached the bedroom and Vitane sighed in pleasure when he kissed her neck. She eased her heels out of her boots and wrapped her legs around him as they kissed. Jason went for her shirt and Vitane eagerly helped him with it then returned the favor back and helped him out of his own. She was ready to take this to the next step.

In desperation she pulled him back in for another kiss and held both sides of his face as she kissed him. She hoped that this time no secret brigade would interrupt them and they could move farther on.

Forrest was happy to see Lola so excited. He chuckled as she cheered and was glad that he was able to help her. Hopefully the serum really could help her to remember. And although he may have to go through her being terrified of him again, he felt like it was truly worth it because they could both share that same memories.

"Come on I have to show you something!” Forrest raised his eyebrows curiously and gave her a very intrigued look as he got up to follow her. He'd seen nearly every inch of the palace so it was highly unlikely that she would be showing him something new. Nonetheless he enjoyed their excursion and Lola's excitement began rubbing off on him as they preceded downstairs.

Inside a small bar it seemed like Lola had opened some kind of secret passage. There were several in the castle, but this one wasn't familiar. Forrest's brows slightly furrowed as he followed behind her skeptically. The cushion underneath his feet made him look down and he was further intrigued by this room, but also a little nervous. Inside the house not only were there secret rooms, but there were also hidden traps.

He watched Lola make deliberate movements and the room changed when she moved. The first time it happened, Forrest flinched. This was certainly new. But was it safe?

"How much time have you spent in here?" He asked with a little concern in his tone.

She admired the fireworks as a feeling of joy washed over her. “I wish I could remember things like this you know, real fireworks” she said softly. The dome returned to a neutral state, she sighed in awe and looked over at Forrest to see if he was as thrilled as she felt. He didn’t seem as excited. Lola walked up to him and wrapped her arms around his neck, he was so tall that she was basically dangling like a monkey.

“What’s wrong” she asked lightly.
“How much time have to spent in here?”

Her heart sunk at the question, she could see that he was merely asking but she felt as though she may have done wrong. She intertwined her fingers behind his neck, she stood uneasily on the tips of her toes and couldn’t help but laugh “You’re so tall!” she exclaimed and looked down at the ground. She glanced back up at him again and giggled, she was trying to avoid his question. She wanted to divert the subject, just to enjoy this moment, but she could sense his concern. Her face fell as she pondered “Um, I don’t know...I found it on...the last four days, I’ve come in here for about I’d say a few hours? No that can’t be right, I almost missed dinner the other day. Okay, so, many hours” she replied honestly.

She dropped on the balls of her feet and extended her arms at her side “It’s all good fun though! It’s just virtual reality!” She observed the dome and bit her bottom lip as she let her arms swing down to her sides. “Although, I do think I’ve made a small connection. These images” she waved her hand again, they stood in a field, in the distance was a forest and on the other side you could see the city “I mean, since I’m projecting them, they have to be linked to my memories somehow, right? I know I can’t be this creative to conjure such vivid images. That and I get a slight sense of deja vu with every picture I-” She cut herself off as she instantly fell silent due to a searing pain pulsing in her head. She bowed her head, squeezed her eyes shut it and pressed a couple fingers on her temple.

The images in the dome began to flash around them. First it turned back into the modern cafe, except this time it seemed eerie. Then it quickly switched to a new scene, they stood on a dirt road with rubble surrounding them and some of the debris was still on fire. Then they were transported to a mystic garden. They stood in a greenhouse, outside the glass walls you could see the castle in the distance. Suddenly a small echo in Lola’s voice could be heard “Are you sure you want to do this?” Lola’s eyes fluttered open and she glanced up, the room became neutral again as she regained control of her mind. She analyzed the room, goosebumps rose on her arms as she searched for the source of the echo.

She was brought back into the moment when she looked over at Forrest again, a small smile appeared on her face. Her stresses just vanished every time she looked at him, it didn’t matter that he was demonic, his calming nature was contagious. Their surroundings shifted once more. The dome became white all around as it started to snow. “Oh my goodness!” Lola chimed. She bent over and gathered some snow from the ground and formed a small ball in her hand. She admired it for a moment, her eyes sparkling “I love snow” she said, then she launched it right at Forrest’s face. As it slammed the side of his head the snow scattered into pixel-like flakes. Lola giggled excitedly and bend down to form another one.

This bliss. Jason leaned over her, he was perched up on his elbow and forearm, his other hand caressing her bare skin, from her shoulders to her thighs. He smiled at her. For the first time in what felt like a century his thoughts had grown quiet. It had been a few hours since any negative pestering thoughts yelled at him. He was here, he was present, he was with her.

He stared deeply into her emerald eyes, he could stay here forever. “This can’t be worth it” he said softly with a touch of sadness glistening in his icy blue eyes. He placed his hand over her heart and felt it beat, it was so different then his. He stared at his hand and took a breath. He looked back up at her, his mind was waking up, his adrenaline was fading.

She’s human. Of course it’s not worth it. What, you’ll love her? Cherish her? Take care and protect her? All for what? So you can watch her grow old while you stay forever young, while you stay immortal, she dies. You know the outcome. You know you can’t do this, she’s your slave after all. That’s all she is, a slave. A human.

Jason scoffed at his thoughts and fell onto his back. He stared up at the dark ceiling “Well, was nice while it lasted” he mumbled. His fingers twitched at his side, he could feel them spark. He wanted to burn something. He leaned over and grabbed a cigarette from his leather jacket and sat up against the headboard. He placed it between his lips and sparked a flame with his fingers to light it. He took a large drag and held it in for a moment before he huffed. He glanced over at Vitane and offered it to her “Why don’t you like fire?” he asked curiously.

Vitane had closed her eyes and ended up drifting off.

In dream land she was perched on a hill, sitting with her legs tucked. She sat atop a classic red and white checkered blanket. The sun was setting and she was surrounded by thousands of flowers. From lily's and tulips to dandelions and bluebonnets. All assortments and colors of flower you could imagine. A couple of wild rabbits and squirrels had wandered to study her and she was beckoning to them with an outstretched arm. But from far away, smoke billowed profusely from an unknown source. She stood to observe the phenomena and the animals all scattered. The surrounding trees were now ablaze and out walked Jason from the treeline. Vitane backed up quickly and stumbled backward, falling on her rear. Her face was that of utter horror and shock. There was no way she could love someone so destructive like that.

His voice woke her, but she hadn't heard what he had said.

"Hmm?" She asked, stretching out of her dreamy sleep, but his question made her eyes open in a flash.
“Why don’t you like fire?” Her eyes averted his and she looked across the room.
"Wha? Who told you I didn't?" Her mind traced back to hearing something about picking the girls from a stack of them. They probably had all kinds of information on both of them. She sighed, feeling defeated. She hated expressing her weaknesses, especially to men. Prior to being here, surprisingly, she hated all men and at first had hated these brothers. Somehow she'd gotten caught in the spell of it all and actually enjoyed their company instead of being a quick bang

"My parents died in a fire..." She trailed off hanging her head low. She picked her head up though to say, "Well, I didn't give a shit that my dad did, he was an asshole. But I lost her too. Woulda been my ass if it weren't for her. She pushed me out the door the second before a support beam fell. I passed out from the smoke and woke up to the news..." She swallowed and turned away from him. Then finally stood, returning her clothes to their rightful place.

"Hey, uh, maybe I'll catch you at dinner." And there she went. Out the door without another word or look.

Forrest watched the magnificent feature that the ceiling portrayed. But for some reason he had an odd feeling about it all.

He momentarily looked down at Lola when she put her arms around his neck, but not even she could break him from this intriguing feeling. He wondered how it all worked. If it was magic then that would worry him further, all magic came at a price.

"Okay, so, many hours” Forrest shook his head.
"I don't want you in here too much until we figure out exactly how this thing runs."

Forrest went to Lola as soon as she bowed her head down in agony. He held her and watched the globe's images flash by quickly. His eyes widened and he looked down at Lola, hoping to remedy his confused state. How was this all happening, he didn't get it. Clearly it was connected to memories, but how were they projected?

“Are you sure you want to do this?” The memory repeated over and over. Where was that line from and why was it repeating?

Then Lola brushed the entire swarm of memories off as the dome changed to a snowy wonderland. His eyes squint as he stared at the picture of snow falling. He wasn't as impressed as Lola.

Without thinking, Forrest stepped forward and waved his hand. A memory from his point of view played. Jason was on the ground, unconscious and bloody, and a fist continued to pulverize his face. The hand was owned by Forrest. He frantically flipped his hand to pass that memory. Another, even worse, played. A man having his heart ripped out by Forrest, cried and begged in agony. Forrest flipped his hand again and again and each memory was more gruesome and violent than the last. It finally stopped on a beautiful woman with dark hair blowing in the wind. She looked so peaceful and serine. But then she dove off of a cliff into the sea. Forrest turned away and this silenced the dome from reading his thoughts further. A single tear streamed down his face and he quickly exited the room.

Lola was ready to launch another snowball but it quickly dissipated into thin air as the scene around them changed. She slowly lifted her head up to see Jason on the ground being attacked by Forrest.
“What are you doing?” Lola shouted and ran over to try and stop them, but as she fell next to Jason the scene changed. Forrest was ripping a heart out, it was at this moment she clued in. There were two of him, one watching and the other acting.

She sat back on her knees with her jaw unhinged at the horror. Her heart pulsed feverishly. “These can’t be real.” She squeezed her eyes and gave her head a shake, she was terrified. She could feel tears streaming down her face, she had never seen something so horrid. When she opened them she saw a woman dive off a cliff and then the dome was silent. Before she could say anything Forrest had left the room. She placed a hand over her heart, it hurt as she perched forward. She wanted to throw up. “What was that” she mumbled. Her mind began to race, this time no images emerged just echoes in her own voice.

“Eli!” she exclaimed.
“What do you mean you’re leaving?” she cried.
”I’m more than just a human sweetheart” she teased.
“Are you sure you want to do this?”

The last sentence echoed continuously, louder and louder. Lola placed her hands over her ears. She let out a small scream, her head was inflamed and it hurt like a migraine. “If I take this, I’ll forget…” When the last echo sounded, everything went silent. Lola looked up at the dome, she was shaking. “These are my memories and those were his memories. I have to...the amplifier…”

Without hesitation she ran to the laboratory and snatched the amplifier vile off the table. She scurried back to the dome and stood in the middle. She glanced around, her hands were shaking. “Are you sure Lola?” she asked herself. She nodded and without further contemplation she downed the potion. She fell forward and began to slightly seize. She held onto her sides and squeezed her eyes shut, her mind then exploded with a hundred memories she had forgotten.

She took a breath and stood up. Her surroundings began to change and mold into things that she had only dreamed of remembering. Her first kiss, it was with Liam a high elf. Where she got her cat, from the old lady down the street who had passed away. Her last birthday, her friend Eli had thrown her a surprise party, it was filled with a hundred supernaturals, all there for her. She partied all night and had the time of her life, twenty-three was a great year. Then she remembered the first time she significantly cried “Dad?” she mumbled. The words why are you leaving echoed as the strange man walked off into the distance, she stood on a dirt road. It was full of rubble with piles of debris on fire. Lola’s heart hurt, “Why?” she cried at the memory.

She fell once again to her knees with tears streaming, “But why don’t I remember any of this?”

Then the scene changed, she was in a modern cafe.
Lola! a male’s voice exclaimed.
“Eli!” Lola chimed. Lola watched her eighteen year old self give the centaur a big hug. Lo, there’s someone I want you to meet. This is my best friend Jace”
“She’s a human?”
Jason stated flatly.
”I’m more than just a human sweetheart”
Yea Jace, Lo is the best alchemist you’ll ever meet, she’s the one I was telling you about! I think she can conjure what you’re looking for.
”So what makes you so great?”
Jason asked unconvinced.
“I remember everything, every detail of my life, every fact I’ve ever read, everything I’ve ever seen, literally everything”
“that seems rather burdening, isn’t there things you’d like to forget?”

Lola stared in confusion “I knew Jason?” she mumbled.

Then the scene changed, she stood in a greenhouse surrounded by a mystic garden. The castle could be seen in the distance, Jason stood next to her. “Are you sure you want to do this?” Lola asked worriedly.
“I told you no questions”
“But this potion is dangerous!
“If you want your money, you’ll do what I say, okay?”
Jason snapped.

They were then transported into Lola’s old apartment. Jason and her sat on stools as they worked feverishly to get the potion working. “that’s the fifth try, oblitus is impossible” Lola cried and slammed the beaker down.
“Is there any way we could boil it?” Jason asked.
Lola eyed him for a moment “Here, spit it in”
“what, why?”
“Just fucking do it” Jason spat in the potion and immediately liquefied. “It’s because you can conjure fire! It’s in you DNA. Well it’s ready. You need to state the memory you want to forget for it to work.” She handed him the beaker and he immediately shoved it back at her.
“You’re taking it first”
“Now why would I do that?”
“You said it was dangerous, so if you don’t die, I’ll take it”
“But I’m human, and I don’t know if my mind could recover. Also, there’s nothing I want to forget.”

Jason scoffed and he took the potion and poured half of it into a nearby beaker. “Jason Carson” he stated and the blue liquid illuminated “You’re going to forget me”
Lola hesitantly took the potion “But I…”
“Do it, or I'll kill you.”

A minute or so passed, but he was threatening. Out of fear Lola downed the liquid and she stared at Jason for a moment. He gave her a nod and suddenly he was gone.

The dome then fell silent, Lola stared in shock at her memories “But why don’t I remember anything else?”

Then there it was, images of Lola flashed, scene after scene of her taking the potion over and over again. She had taken it at least a dozen times up to her first night in the castle, it was like a drug to her. She had taken it so much that her mind had no longer been able to store information, she had become addicted to it.

Jason listened closely to her words as she explained her hatred for fire. “I’m sorry that happened to you…” he stated blandly. It was hard for him to be sincere, even if it was Vitane, he found such joy in the flames that listening to her story was like a drug to him, he liked the pain. As she quickly got dressed Jason wanted to protest. He wanted her to stay, bring the moment back but before he could argue she was gone. Jason sat back in his bed and brushed a hand through his hair. He gave his head a small shake and glanced at the time, dinner was nearing.

He leaned over, grabbed his clothes and got dressed. He shoved his hands in his leather jacket pocket as he made his way to the dining hall. As soon as he walked through the frame of the hall, Lola body checked him against a wall. “You son of bitch” she yelled and pressed her hand against his chest.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” he leaned back from her and stared her face. Her eyes were red from crying so hard “You’re a fucking asshole you know that”
Jason’s eyes pulsed with fire, he took her arms and shoved her, Lola stumbled back a couple steps she was breathing heavily. The maids and butlers who were setting up for dinner had all frozen in place and watched in horror.
“I should have just fucking killed you” Lola spat.
Jason took a threatening step towards her, he was pissed. He wanted to rip her hair out, toss her to the ground, and light her on fire. “Watch yourself Lola” he cautioned, his face was calm but there was venom in his tone.
Lola shook her head “You ruined my life”
I didn’t pick you, Forrest did. You have a problem being here take it up with him.”
“THAT’S NOT WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT. she shouted. “Think Jason or Jace! How do you know me? Does oblitus ring a bell?”

Jason stared at her blankly for a moment, his mind was racing with gruesome images of him killing her right here. But then he focused on her words and a memory surfaced.

Vitane raced away from the guest room. She needed to get out of there before he saw her crying. The tears streamed down her face and she sniffled. Through her tears she barely managed to find her room. She collapsed there on her bed. Thoughts of playing with stuffed animals with her mom and building a castle with her wooden blocks. Another memory, her mother kissing her on the forehead then suddenly being grabbed around the waist and flung across the room. A hand swinging to collide with Vitane's face, knocking her off her feet. Her lip quivered as she watched her mother get beat while she hid in the corner. Then her father turned to find Vitane after her mother fell unconscious. The memory faded as he closed in on her. The pain was too great. She had to think of something else.

Her grandma. Her now bloodshot eyes flashed open, tears still dripping from them. She panicked and looked for the cell phone she had been gifted by Jason on her second day. Through blurred vision and unstable hands she successfully dialed her grandma's phone number. Blocked signal.

"Fuck!" Those bastards had thought of everything. Her poor grandma. What if she had been killed by a supernatural by now. Without Vitane there to protect her she was defenseless. She threw her phone against the wall. Now she was angry. She ripped through her closet and found a suiting outfit then headed towards the dining hall. She heard Jason talking ahead and was that Lola yelling? She put a little hop to her step and came in to see Lola shout at Jason with Forrest close behind her. She was so confused. What was oblitus? She looked between the three, hoping they would express what was going on.

Forrest wanted to break down. His eyes were shut tight but tears still pushed out of the slits.
Seeing that again. He could barely take it. Seeing it the first time had made him lose his will to live and he strictly stayed in his demon form for months. He had terrorized cities and he and Jason were forced to move often due to both of their destructiveness.
He shook his head, flinging a few tears away. He turned back to the dome to retrieve Lola. He needed to do anything besides be in this room. All it did was hurt him all over again.

The dome flashed images of what seemed to be Lola's memories. Had she taken the vile when he wasn't looking? These images were full of people now and complete conversations. He concentrated on every detail of every picture that burst across the room. He stood fully erect, his muscles tight when he saw Jason on the screen. His jaw clenched and his breathing got slow but labored as he tried to keep it all in. This didn't make sense! How did Jason know her?!

Then it all came together. Some potion called oblitus. His anger grew and he followed close behind Lola as they marched to the dining hall in search of Jason. He somehow managed to control himself and allowed Lola to get her point across. Every word they exchanged surged his blood pressure higher. He was on the verge of splitting out of his human skin. Jason had hurt her. It was unforgivable.

Vitane strutted up, but Forrest paid her no mind. He couldn't take it anymore. He moved around Lola and grabbed Jason by the jacket and pulled him up against the wall forcefully. His grip was inhuman and his face wore a mask of calm as he raged inside. His eyes turned black and he closed them to force himself not to shift.

“Lola” Jason said slowly “I made you take it once. To forget me, god knows I did you a favor!”
“FAVOR?!” Lola scoffed and rolled her eyes, she crossed her arms and shook her head “You mean for your own selfish reasons Jace! I shouldn’t have fucking done it, I shouldn’t have helped you.”
“Okay then why did you?!” Jason snapped.
“Because Eli told me all about you, you’re a fucking psychopath Jason! I wasn’t going to say no to you, I didn't want my house burnt down or my mother to get murdered over some fucking potion!”
“But the money was worth it right?” Jason argued ”I didn’t see you complaining when you moved into that fancy house, or pranced around in your designer clothes, Ruby.”
“Ruby?! Only my close friends call me that! I fucking knew it. I knew you remembered me!”
“Vaguely, it was like three weeks of my life-”
"Is that why I'm here? Is that why Forrest had my file? Did you need me here to make you more potions Jason-"
"No! I don't know how Forrest got your file, I had nothing to do with that. You were just another human on the list."
"I was fine on my own, I didn't need any of this, I don't need any of this! Fuck. I knew it. I knew my mind wouldn’t be able to recover. I became addicted and I-”
“Okay now wait a minute, I didn’t fucking spoon feed it to you every other damn time. You did that to yourself, it’s not my fault human’s have no restraint” Jason spat.

At that moment Forrest stepped forward, Jason’s eyes shifted to see his brothers rage “She’s a fucking human, Demon” Jason cautioned but before he knew it, he was off his feet and pressed against the wall. A devilish grin appeared on his face as he wrapped his hands tightly around Forrest’s wrists.

Lola had stepped closer to Vitane and took hold of her hand, she had snapped out of her fury almost instantly when Forrest intruded and she became petrified. She didn't want anything to happen, this was her war, her life, he didn't need to defend her and why was he anyways? Jason was right, she was just a human.

“It’s been a while” Jason stated maliciously. He grew out his kitsune claws and dug them into Forrest wrists. For a moment his eyes had turned completely red with rage before they glistened and turned completely white “She better be worth it” his voice had become low, sounding demonic and raspy as he spoke.

Jason’s kitsune fangs grew out as he bellowed at his brother. He swung his legs and with his whole body he pushed his brother down to the ground. As they fell Jason ripped through Forrest’s wrists and hands with his claws. He flipped himself away from him and rolled onto the ground. In a crouch like position with one hand on the floor, he huffed, he wanted to regain control of his body and mind, this fight wasn't worth it to him. No human was ever worth losing control over but he couldn't help himself. His control was quickly escaping him, madness had taken over. It was taking everything he had to not fully shape-shift but he was losing control of that too. With his fangs and claws already out, his ears grew on his head and his tail was slowly forming. He had conjured a ball of fire in each hand, he was ready to attack.

The help had all rushed out of the room in horror. Lola glanced up at Vitane, she wanted to faint, scream and cry but she was too terrified to move. "It's not wroth it" she wept, she could feel her lips tremble. She didn't want to see Forrest fight his brother because of her, but she could tell that Jason had surpassed all reason. She wanted to stop it and bud in, but she knew better and she always protected her own life above all others.

Vitane clasped a hand to her wide open mouth. The things they were saying. They couldn't be true. She didn't want to believe it.
Her mind zeroed in on something she said.
"I didn't want my house burnt down or my mother to get murdered over some fucking potion!” Her mind raced suddenly back to the case she had helped to file about the reason her parent's fire had started. There had been no leads and it was concluded that it was caused by arson. Was it possible? If these things Lola were saying really did back up...Could Jason really be her mother's murderer.

Hot tears poured again and her fists clenched so tightly that her nails dug into them and brought blood. Even if it was only slightly possible, she was livid. She wanted to scream and fight too, but now Forrest had a grip on Jason and her eyes widened. If Jason could control fire, what could Forrest do? She whimpered and backed away quickly, followed by Lola. They both clearly wanted to be nowhere near the firing range.

When Jason called Forrest "Demon" he sent an abrupt fist to strike against Jason's windpipe. Vitane's eyes enlarged to double their size. So Forrest was a demon. And he clearly didn't like being reminded of it.
Around that time, Lola had grabbed Vitane's hand and it was the only thing that gave her some peace in this moment. At least they had each other. Her eyes flashed to Lola's just for a moment and her heart sunk, seeing the pained expression on the beautiful woman's face.

“It’s been a while” Forrest merely grunted in response then watched Jason's claws dig into his wrists. His face didn't shift an inch as his eyes went back to Jason's. He lifted him away from the wall and slammed him even harder into it, only to be met with Jason's feet that shot him across the room.
Blood pooled around him from his wrists but the wounds soon closed and healed completely.
He was on his feet again in a second and his control was dwindling desperately. If the women hadn't been here, he would have already changed without warning, but decades of training were able to keep him together today.

His heart pounded and his still black eyes caused shadows to envelop him. He may have been able to conserve his power, but he couldn't conserve magic at a time like this. Magic was partially hinged on emotions and his were pretty sporadic right now. Lines of shadows raced across the room to Jason, one holding his neck and two more holding his wrists apart. As Forrest closed in on him, the darkness grew, shrouding them both and beginning to most likely suffocate Jason.

Her voice. Amidst all of the commotion, Forrest somehow heard it. The desperation and anxiety. The hopelessness in it. The shadows shrank back and in an instant they were gone. Jason dropped to the ground and Forrest's eyes turned back to normal. He was watching Lola, now. Her words repeating in his head. It's not worth it. He wanted to attack Jason again. Of course she was worth it. But he couldn't allow himself to scare her further. Against all of his will, he turned away from the three of them and started for the attic.

Jason was dangling in the air, desperate to catch his breath as Forrest’s shadows strangled him. His white eyes returned to their natural icy blue state, forcing tears down his face. He gasped. He kicked his legs, he wanted to break free and before he knew it, he was dropped to the ground. He fell flat on his front, he pushed up with his arm and flopped on his back. He breathed heavily as he stared at the ceiling, his kitsune form receding as he returned human. His mind was slowing down, he was regaining control of himself as if he was clueing into what just happened. The red lines on his neck from the shadow’s restraint began to heal.

Lola stared at Forrest’s face as he walked passed her. Her mind was racing, part of her was overjoyed that he stopped and the other part of her was petrified. She glanced down at her and Vitane’s hands, they were turning red from holding on so tightly. She let go and pressed her other hand's thumb in her palm as she clenched and unclenched. Her thoughts returned with logic and common sense. She felt as though being in this place was making her lose part of her humanity. She took a deep breath and looked over at Jason who was still regaining control of himself. She put on a brave face and slowly walked up to him. She extended her hand towards him. His eyes shifted from the ceiling to her face, he was perplexed. She gave him an encouraging nod, insisting. He took hold of her hand and she helped him up, his eyebrows furrowed as he examined her blank expression.

“It’s not his battle” she said softly “Are you okay?”
Jason lifted a brow at her, he was taken back by how calm she was, he nodded. “If you ever force me to do anything like that again, I will poison you, I swear on your mother’s grave she whispered the last part threateningly. Jason narrowed his eyes at her, he huffed air out of his nose, slightly amused and slightly infuriated.

Lola gave him one more look and turned on her heel. As she walked passed Vitane she frowned at her, she looked her up and down. “Sleeping with him was a mistake” she said bitterly. She shoved some hair out of her face and took a couple strides to catch up to Forrest. She leaned forward and tugged on his hand, trying to get him to stop walking. She took a couple more steps, and stood in front of him. She placed a hand on his chest “I’m not worth it” she said seriously “But thank you.”

She dropped her hand and intertwined her fingers with his "I think that's enough for one day" she said lightly. A small innocent smile appeared on her face “Now. I’m famished, could we go get something to eat?”

Jason was frozen in place. Lola had actually become the bigger person and basically forgave him. He hated it. He wanted to wash away this memory, this day. His mind turned to oblitus and he contemplated but then gave his head a shake. He closed his eyes and pressed a couple fingers to his temple. He was so pissed, at Forrest, at Lola and especially at himself. Thoughts of suicide circled in his mind as they usually did. Being immortal sure was a burden, he wanted to escape. He dropped his hand and breathed slowly, his fingers sparking at his side. He wanted to set hundreds of houses on fire, he wanted to torture, he wanted to kill. He brushed a hand through his hair and pulled a cigarette from his leather jacket. He ignited with with his fingers and took a large toke. He huffed the smoke out through his nostrils as he stared at the floor ahead. He needed to calm down and as he remembered Vitane's presence in the room, he did. His face returned to neutral as he looked over at her, he didn’t know what to say or do.

Everything happened so fast. The boys at each other's throats, then Lola chiming in, Forrest stopping. Vitane was already overwhelmed with emotion from imaging Jason as her parent's killer, but all of this could push her to a panic attack.
She clutched hard onto Lola's hand, but when she removed the grip, Vitane could feel how hard they had really been holding on to one another. She extended her fingers to stretch them.

Vitane watched Lola, mesmerized by her maturity. In her mind, Vitane wanted to lash out like Forrest had, beat his face in and turn away without a word. She wanted to unleash this anger that was continuing to be pent up. It wasn't like her to just stand by in silence, but she respected Lola and her need to finish what she had started.

“Sleeping with him was a mistake.” Vitane furrowed her brows. It was no place of Lola's to determine that judgment and how did she know they had anyway? Vitane brushed off her comment and now it was just her and Jason.

Her thoughts raced at what to say, what to do. Turn and run to go cry? Scream and yell and hit his chest? As her mind scrambled for an answer, an all too calm sentence spewed from her mouth.

"Where were you two staying in 2057?" Please don't say Dublin! She thought desperately as she awaited his response.

Forrest continued walking, hearing Lola's voice behind him. She seemed much calmer now and he was glad for that at least. He needed to get her out of here, this was no place for her. Even if he was falling in love with her, he never wanted her to possibly be in the middle of a fight again. As much as it hurt him, he needed to give her the opportunity to leave. If he really did love her, she had to come first. He sighed and closed his eyes hard to prevent further emotions from erupting.

Lola caught up to him and he couldn't help but smile. Her chipper, positive attitude had returned, despite everything that had gone down. This would have made Forrest ecstatic if he hadn't been so hard on himself for putting Lola in potential danger.

“I’m not worth it” Forrest had stopped and now he scooped her face up in both of his hands so she could see his sincerity.
"You will always be worth it." He stated, then kissed her on the forehead gently prior to lacing his fingers in hers. She melted away his worry and pain. She was so good at it too. Just a look, a word, a touch, and he was fine again. She seemed to be his muse. He kinda needed her here, if she really was. She could stop him from exploding again.

He chuckled lightly and nodded in agreement that he, too, was quite ready for dinner. They passed a still very heated Vitane and Jason and walked into the dining hall. The food seemed to have just been set down on the table because it was still steaming. Turkey, ham, and a chicken were all centered on the tabletop, surrounded by gravy, corn, stuffing, green beans, and cranberry sauce.

Forrest grabbed his chair from the direct end of the table and moved it around to sit on the side with Lola. It seemed like they would be the only two eating tonight anyway. He sat down next to her, waving away the servants so he could personally make her plate. He filled it with her requests then helped himself. His hand reached under the table and sat on her left leg since it was closest to him. Before they began eating, he leaned close to her almost touching her to say,

"Instead, I would like to thank you. You really covered my ass back there." He smiled and without considering his actions, leaned in and kissed her on the lips. Their first kiss. Why did it have to be at the dining table? You couldn't have made this more romantic, Forrest?

Lola’s eyes were fixated on Forrest as they passed Vitane and Jason. She paid them no mind, she had enough drama for one day and with the amplifier fading off, she wasn’t sure how long her memories would be in tact. She made a mental note to conjure a dispel potion, she needed to erase these effects to regain her mind. It wouldn’t be easy, there were some memories she had drank away for a reason but it wasn’t worth such a loss.

Her heart skipped a beat as Forrest took his chair and set it next to her. A feeling of glee and bliss washed over her. Through all this chaos and pain, he had, without saying a word, mutually agreed to leave it all behind and move forward. His patience still astounded her, she basically attacked his brother and yet he defended her a human.

Goosebumps rose on her arms as Forrest dropped his hand to her leg after he filled her plate. He was so warm, it was comforting, she loved it. Nevermind that he was demon, there was something about him that made her eyes sparkle. She stared at him in awe as he leaned close and said “Instead, I would like to thank you. You really covered my ass back there.” Suddenly, his lips was against hers. Her heart erupted at an uncontrollable pace as she just melted into him. She lifted a hand to his cheek and placed the other on the side of his neck as she leaned into him. His breath was so warm, his lips were a mixture of smooth and rough. Her stomach churned with butterflies, he was so perfect. She wanted to push him down, tare his clothes off and kiss him forever. She pressed her lips a little harder against his, she wanted to be closer. She pulled herself up, basically sitting on his lap as she breathed heavily.

The passion, the moment, she could have lived it for eternity if it wasn’t for her stomach. A loud grumble sounded causing her to break from him and she burst into laughter. “Oh my god” she chuckled and placed a couple fingers on her lips, her cheeks flushed in embarrassment. “I’m so sorry dear, it’s not you. I think I’m just starving.” she giggled. She slipped off his lap but kept her legs over his as she sat sideways on her chair. She brushed a strand of hair behind her ear and grabbed her fork. She stabbed a carrot and bit into it, smiling at him as she chewed. “While my memories are intact, fun fact for you.” she mused and took another bite out of her food “I was eleven years old when I first encountered a demon. He almost killed me” she chuckled “But a centaur came to my rescue. I later found a newspaper article with that exact demon! Apparently it was bad timing on my part, a leprechaun had stolen his gold. He must of assumed it was me because of my red hair" she burst out laughing. "That’s when I realized not all supernaturals are bad. I don’t know, maybe I’m just lucky” she shrugged. “I don't think this world is that scary anyways...just a little tortured.”

Jason uncomfortably shifted his eyes from hers. He brushed a hand through his hair as he pondered. “This sounds like a trick question” he stated blandly. At that moment Forrest and Lola walked back in, he immediately became tense. He watched as they made their way over to the table and took their seats, he cringed when Forrest moved his chair next to hers. Cutesy bullshit he thought and rolled his eyes. He made his way over to Vitane and took a hold of her hand and lead her to the entrance hall.

He let go of her and began pacing as he slowly burned through the rest of his cigarette. Once he reached the end of it he flicked the butt onto the ground. He walked over to one of the sets of stairs and sat on the third step. He stared at the marble floor in front of him, he could see Vitane waiting in his peripheral. Images of all the places he visited flashed through his mind. He hesitated, he didn’t want to tell her, a feeling of regret was waiting to erupt. He shifted his eyes to her face, his heart wrenched, she looked so pained. He hated question’s, he wanted to shrug it off but part of him knew he needed to answer her honestly.

“I was in Paris” he stated but then quickly shook his head. “No wait, that’s not right.” he mumbled.

He brushed his hand through his hair and huffed irritably as he locked his eyes with hers. A memory surface and finally, he remembered. “Part of me is screaming, I don’t know why, but I know I’m going to regret this. I was Dublin. Forrest and I were looking to move there after a mess in Paris, obviously that didn’t happen…” he trailed off into thought. He gave his head a shake to refocus and looked up at her curiously, a hint of caution in his voice as he asked “Why.”
