Varun is, by all accounts, a tried and true narcissist. His arrogance isn't subtle by any means--if there's a way to bring himself into every conversation he has, you can bet your butter he'll find that way. This seems to stem from insecurity rather than anything else, however--deep down, Varun is very self-aware of his own flaws and chooses to willingly ignore them in favor of what he sees as his best traits. That said, when people call him out of his less desirable aspects, it quickly makes him flustered and awkward--Varun has never dealt well with being called out.

He's also an idiot. He seems to know a surprising amount about space and space travel, but aside from that he's an idiot. Even his best friend says he's an idiot.

"Ugh, enough about that bear already! You should all be talking about me!"

Varun in an only child with two loving parents who kinda spoiled him.

"Kinda", because while they were loving and showered him with affection and gifts when they were home, this was rarely the case. Both parents worked long hours and often left Varun by himself for days at a time. Lonely and craving companionship, Varun began to make up things about his home life and started bragging about his stuff to try and buy himself some friends. Along the way, he met Enide Chabert, an equally lonely boy who spent time around Varun to attract friends of his own. Somewhere along the way, the two became best friends.

One day, Varun, along with a squad of kids that included Enide, a young girl named Aoki Moshihara, a talented boy named Noah Jacoby, a hungry young boy named Mitchel Anderson, a tough man named Leo Javier, and a flirtatious woman named Illustria Gallagher, was sent off on an ambiguous special mission from their mysterious town. Somewhere along the way, they crashed their vehicle and ended up forced to move in with college couple Bernard "Vinnie" Von Vital and Linda Rutherford. Stranded and desperate, Varun accepted Vinnie's guidance and went out to get a job as a tailor with Enide.

At first, Enide was clearly the better tailor--but being constantly outdone like this only served to motivate Varun even more. With an eye for fashion Enide lacked and a charisma that made him attractive to customers, Varun quickly set himself up as a star tailor and began gaining traction in their sleepy little town. Somehow, things spread enough for him to make a name for himself outside the town, an opportunity Varun gladly accepted.
