CONDESCENDING ✦ BLUNT ✧ IMPATIENT ✦ QUIET ✧ HONEST

Lucian has always been a reserved person. Not one to let people in, he's quiet and cautious. Everything he does is meticulous, nothing done without motive or reason. Never one to be outspoken, Lucian is a shadow, a wallflower, constantly listening. He sees no reason to speak unless spoken to.

While some might think his quietness is out of respect, they couldn't be more wrong. He's blunt, willing to speak what he thinks without care of who it hurts. He always thinks about what his response will be, but he learned that the hard truth is far better than sugar coated lies. So he constantly tells what he believes and never beats around the bush. While blunt, his responses are never dry. He is condescending and humorous, even sarcastic at times, but truth is most important to him.

Lucian isn't all hard shells and brooding silence. Frankly, he's a decent guy. But he has layers, many of which are caused by his unfortunate upbringing and past life. He wasn't a good person in life, he's trying to be one in death. Lucian has a soft spot for the underdogs, the ones who have to fight tooth and nail to even get to the starting line. He relates heavily to those people and is constantly rooting for them to make a life he never got.

He doesn't like to sit around, twiddling his thumbs and waiting for his next reaping. Lucian is always in motion and hates waiting. One of his flaws is that he is impatient and doesn't have the capacity to be patient. It's not something in his skill set.

He's brash, quick to judge and to attack. Something he seems to have a hard time shaking. He's always been defensive, always ready to argue. Even if he's not one for being loud, he makes himself known if he has an issue. Foreboding and angry, he's a force to be reckoned with. Lucian didn't survive his past by being docile and sweet, he was out making decisions, ones with heavy consequences and that hasn't changed.

He was a leader, never a follower. He was his own boss, doing what he decided what was best. His life depended on making good judgement calls and it's hard for him to listen to someone else's reasoning if he doesn't think it's beneficial. This has caused him to be difficult when it comes to taking orders from others. He sees no desire to be a follower. No reason to listen to others. It's made him arrogant, as if his calls were the only ways to deal with situations. It was his downfall.

HISTORY
Lucian was born a bastard son, who's mother died when he was a baby due to a drug overdose. Both of his parents had been addicts, though his father was who raised him. His life wasn't a Sunday stroll, instead it was constantly trying to avoid the drunken rage of his father. He never truly cared for Lucian, seeing him as a burden.

Throughout his life, Lucian made one bad decision to the next. It wasn't until he was in his early twenties that he found something worth fighting for. A woman, a beautiful one that he fell in love with. He cleaned up his act and soon they were wed. They lived peacefully for a few years until she revealed she was pregnant. They couldn't afford to care for a child, but an abortion was out of the question and Lucian didn't want the child to have an unhappy life like he did.

Lucian made the mistake of going to some old colleagues for help. He had been wrapped in unfortunate business before he had met Cara, and now they felt he owed them. One final job that could make them all live comfortably. With his agreement, they attempted to rob a wealthy individual, but the plan backfired and ended with someones death. Lucian was the one who was convicted of the murder, just mere days before his son was born. His sentence was life in prison with no chance of parole.

His wife cut off all contact with him, divorcing him while he rotted away in a prison cell. For over twenty years he lived in there, until an unfortunate accident resulted in his death. He had gotten into a fight with another inmate, one who was constantly causing issues for others. Lucian had gotten fed up with the younger boy and confronted him. Unfortunately, the young man had a shiv and stabbed Lucian in the fight. It hit a major artery, causing him to bleed out before help was able to get him. He's been dead for two years with unresolved issues, causing him to be a reaper. Now he spends his days taking the souls of others, much to his dismay.

Kaydence couldn't believe what she was being told. She stood over her lifeless body with a man beside her, telling her life as she knew it was now over and she was now a reaper. She was now going to be a completely different person to everyone who knew her and she was not allowed to interact with her old friends and family again.

Even though she was shocked, puzzled, and even more scared than anything, she thought it would be best to follow the man who claimed to be Austin to a diner where he said they were going to meet up with the rest of the group.

When she arrived she noticed another person seemed to look as clueless and lost as she was and the rest of them sat there talking among each other as if they knew each other for years. "We have a new face," Austin spoke up, claiming the attention of the others.

He took a seat at the table just as he noticed another new face, "I take that back, we have two," he corrected himself and signaled for Kaydence to take the empty seat by whom she only assumed was new to whatever this was as well. The waitress made her way to the table and began taking their orders one by one before her attention landed on herself and the boy beside her. Go on, order something. You need your strength," Austin stated to the both of them.

Kaydence glanced down at the menu as she cleared her throat. "Um... I'll take a sausage melt with a side of hashbrowns and a vanilla cappuccino." Just because she was new to whatever life she was now taking part in, it didn't mean she was new to this diner. She used to come here everyday after the end of the school day when she was in high school.

Jayke had been staring at his plate, deep in his thoughts, ignoring conversations he wasnt interested in. His mind had been on his former sister. Her green eyes burned into his mind forever.

When he had realized that he was no longer alive, his sisters emerald eyes were the last things he saw. There, was the moment Milo stopped existing. Jayke was the new him and he was a Reaper and he was to do a job, reap souls.

He stabbed his eggs with a fork, watching the creamy yolk spread out across the whites of the eggs, he had earlier covered in salt and pepper. He took a bit on his fork and had just finished his bite when the Boss walked in with a young female, seeming anxious.

Milo smiled remembering he had looked that same way when he started, but the manlier less feminine version of scared and anxious and devistated. He picked up a piece of bacon and took a bite, it crunching as he chewed.

Two new reapers now sat at this table.

Licking his lips he perked a brow. "Can I get a refill of coffee please?" He asked the waitress, with a smile before looking at the two new faces. "Welcome, Welcome… you can call me Jayke." He figured he would be nice and at least welcome the poor souls.

After she finished ordering her food, she finally heard a male introducing himself to them just before the other "newbie" began to order for himself. There was no way she was able to shake all of the nervousness and awkwardness she was feeling right now. It was definitely something she was going to have to get used to. Being dead? Reaping souls? Was she really ready for all of this?

"Uhm, I'm Franklin. You can call me Franklin or Frank but never Frankie." Her fellow newbie introduced himself as well before adding, "What about yourself, pretty lady?"

Kaydence just looked between the two males who were speaking to her when the table fell silent. Was he just talking to her? Kaydence just gave a soft smile and decided to ignore the compliment and introduce herself, "Um, I'm Kaydence. Feel free to call me Kay for short if wanted," she stated to Jayke and Franklin.

At least they seemed to be polite. Though the entire time she sat there, there were two others who hadn't spoken a word to her. She began to wonder if they were of the friendly type. Kaydence had a feeling they probably weren't, but she wasn't going to jump to conclusions. Besides, her mother always taught her not to judge someone before you got to know them. Even then it's wrong to judge.

Honestly at that point, the words her mother taught her were no longer beginning to matter. Kaydence was dead now, the girl her mother knew was no longer there. Maybe now was her chance to be someone else.
