"Perhaps you put too much faith in me...but I will do my best."

0 · 368 views · located in World of Fenarin

a character in “Defenders of Fenarin: The Kingdom of Secrets”, as played by ConnorTavarin

Description

Name: Jing Su

Character Themes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLFD2rXr ... l9oMg6Zw1w

Age: 21

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Face Claim: Xu Shu from Dynasty Warriors

Appearance: Image

Description: A tall young man standing at 6'3. Jing Su has a lanky build with slight amounts of muscle and is quite acrobatic. He has messy black hair, brown eyes, and he has a slight mustache and beard. He has no scars or blemishes to speak of.

Equipment: A long straight sword with a wired hook hanging off of the hilt. His clothing consists of a rather ornate green and white robe, black pants and boots, and leather arm guards. His robe has a hood, which he wears often when speaking with people he doesn't know well.

Strengths:
  • Intelligent: Jing Su has an intelligent mind, allowing him to take advantage of anything that might be useful in a situation. If given time, he may be able to think of a few strategies for potential threats.
  • Quiet Movements/Athleticism: Despite his height, he is capable of moving very quietly. In fact, moving quietly is how he naturally walks, barely making a sound with each step. This, combined with his acrobatic skills, allow him to take position in better ambush locations.
  • Capable Melee Fighter: Jing Su spent his youth learning the way of the sword from his father, and while he may not be a master yet, he can hold his own in most situations. The hook on his sword can be used as a mid-range weapon to grapple enemies or be used to lift him to higher ground.
  • Diplomatic: One thing Jing Su will be confident in is his supposed way with words. He would much rather talk his way out of a situation rather than resort to violence, but will not hesitate to fight if it comes down to it.

Weaknesses:
  • Self-Doubting: Has a tendency of believing he's not good enough to handle certain situations, believing others would be more capable than he would ever be.
  • No Ranged Defense: Jing Su has very little defense against ranged abilities, whether they be physical or magical in nature. This means he either has to dodge out of the way or hide until the attack is over, making it easy to pin him to one location.

Likes: Apples, writing, finding high points in various locations to survey his surroundings, helping others.

Dislikes: Arrogance, good people forced into doing bad things due to circumstance, shellfish, bugs with stingers, racism.

Personality: Jing Su is a quiet, humble man with slight self-confidence issues. He is also rather shy, preferring to hide his face in a large hood when conversing with people he doesn't know, claiming the lack of eye contact calms him down. When he gets to know someone, he tends to be rather happy being around them and is more likely to speak to them. He is also very loyal and swears to protect his friends to the best of his abilities. He's an aspiring novelist as well, wanting to take what he sees during his travels and write stories about them.

History: Jing Su grew up in a small, isolated village with few residents. It was there he lived with his parents, learning the way of the sword from his father and learning how to read and write from his mother. Everyone in the village enjoyed Jing Su's company, as he was very kind and generous, offering help around the village whenever he could. As he got older, he desired to see the outside world more and more. His chance came when his father gave him one final test to prove his skill with the sword, which was to go out into the world and become wiser in both mind and blade. At the age of 19, he departed his village, and he has been traveling ever since. The outside world was larger and more intimidating than he had initially anticipated, and it easily overwhelmed him for a while, to the point where he would never speak to anyone. He has since gotten over this, but still prefers to wear his hood when speaking to others. Regardless of his nervous behavior, he still wants to make his family proud by learning everything he can about the world. This means he could potentially get involved in something far bigger than he ever could have imagined.

So begins...

Outside in the castle town, a figure strode across the rooftops quickly, yet quietly. Jing Su had arrived in the castle town just two days ago, and both nights he had wandered the rooftops at night to get a better grasp of the city's layout. Tonight, he made it a goal to see the castle itself, at least from the outside. Standing atop one of the nobility's manors, Jing Su stared off towards the massive regal structure, intimidated by its sheer size. He had never seen a structure of such magnitude where he was from, so all he could do was look on in silent awe.

Meanwhile, there was a guard patrolling the streets after he had caught word of a strange man roaming the rooftops at night. He made his way to the roofs to better search for the suspect. After about an hour of fruitless searching, the guard spotted a man standing on a manor rooftop and reached for his sword "You there! Halt!" he shouted, approaching the edge cautiously. The guard couldn't make the jump to the next building, but there was no other building close enough for Jing Su to jump to. Turning around, Jing Su's face was obscured slightly by his hood. Knowing he had been caught, he raised his hands to the air and approached the guard, hoping he would get away with a minor punishment. Leaping to the other roof with relative ease, he dared not run, lest the guard be faster than he looked. The guard noticed his sword, which served to raise his suspicions. "I've heard word of a man running along the city rooftops. I take it that's you....why are you looking at the castle? And what are you planning to do with that sword?" he questions.

Jing Su realizes that the fact he had a weapon on his person would probably get him in even worse trouble. He looks down nervously, moving his hands behind his head "W-Well you see, I'm new to this city. I thought I would get to know the layout. I swear to you, I don't have anything bad in mind, I am just sightseeing." he says. The guard raises an eyebrow "The layout? You could have just asked any guard for directions...I'm sorry but I'm going to need to suspect the worst of you and ask you to come with me. You will spend the night in the dungeons and come morning you will be brought in front of the Regents. What happens from there, they will decide." he says, drawing his sword and standing close to Jing Su. Deciding that it would be a very bad idea to run at this point, Jing Su descends the rooftops with the guard and they make their way towards the castle dungeons.

Jing Su is promptly locked away in a small, cold cell, and he simply sighs at his predicament. He had his encounters with local guards before, but nothing this severe. Lying down on the hard, uncomfortable stone bed, he thinks about what may happen. Will he be put to death? Will he be locked away for years to come? Either thought worried him greatly, and he simply hoped for the best.

Zaldir Kestal

Terror, confusion, an above all else, sadness crossed his mind. Because not only did he realize the weight of his long sleep, but the toll of said sleep, came at a terrible price. His memories were lost to him. He can only remember certain names, certain faces, but other then that, he couldn't burst the void to remember further. He then he turned to the man he killed and then the sword in hand that he took back from the woman.

"Why am I here, and what sorcery keeps me from remembering my past, that I do not know why?" He mused out loud. "Where is my home, my family, my loved ones? Where are they, I do not know."

Silently Zaldir sheathed his sword and turned to the one who awakened him. Arianrhod was in the torchlight but she looked sorry for telling him the answer he asked for. He frowned as he placed a reassuring pat on her shoulder and offered a small smile. It was then he finally noticed her right eye. Still holding his smile, but holding slight concern he looked a little closer at the eye.

"You've been through your fair share of evil in this world." The young elf said softly. "I guess that hasn't changed since I was gone. Seven Millennia and evil keeps crawling out of the gutter." He then sighed. He didn't know what else to say. But then he felt another pang. This time, it was his heart that felt the pain. He remembered something from within that portion of memories. Almost as if he said those words before.

"Can we leave this place now? The stench in here is suffocating to me." He said in a plain sounding voice. "And you need a wash Milady." He gave a small grin as he offered his hand to lead her back to the exit.

----

Meanwhile in the palace dungeons, A guard wearing different Armor, signifying as the captain of the castle guard went to the cell that seemed to hold the party of one. "The regents are too busy with state matters to deal with you. But from what I hear, you're pretty honest." The captain said as he pulled out a key to the cell door. "Just don't climb on rooftops anymore then you have to. There's an inn nearby with a room that has a lovely view of the western lands. The 'White Ram'. I suggest going and renting that room if you want to sightsee sir. Exit's down the hall, first door on the right."

Jing Su stood up from the bed and bowed, grasping one hand in the other and leaning forward slightly "Thank you, sir. Please forgive me if I caused you any inconvenience and thank you again for the recommendation." he smiles beneath his hood before exiting the cell. He picks up his belongings and his weapon from another guard and walks up the stairs. As he's walks up, he starts thinking on what his father told him about learning more of the world. "Was it that no matter what you do, some won't appreciate your actions...? Hm..." he brushes his chin a little, thinking on it.

When he reached a castle hallway, he knew something didn't feel right. Something in the air felt cold and terrifying, referring to Princess Arianrhod's curse. He thought about whether or not he should investigate, but if he stayed longer than he needed to, the guards might get suspicious again, so he makes for the exit of the castle. He had enough stressful events for one night and he hoped that this was the worst of it as he walked silently down the halls. Even after being led through here when the guard took him prisoner, he still marveled at the massive corridors of the castle, wishing he could stay longer and explore every room. He sighs deeply, knowing that he shouldn't stay long and turned right at the end of the hall. Smiling when he reaches the entrance hall, he makes his way towards the gate, eager to make it to the White Ram and pay for a nice warm bed.

Try as he might however, Jing Su couldn't shake the air of hostility that permeated throughout the castle, not just from within, but also approaching. He rubs the wire at the end of his sword's hilt between his thumb and index finger, meditating as he slowly makes his way towards the gate "Ancestors guide me through these chaotic times...let no harm be brought to those around me...grant me the strength to give protection and guidance." he whispers to himself as he walks.

Zaldir Kestal

"You may call out and shout, and tell the tale and then faint." Zaldir said nodding in slight approval. He had half wondered what will entail next after the guards hear the tale and such. Also he hoped he could find an excuse for his clothing and sword. All were smart ideas. He waited for her to start shouting.

When she did, several guards would enter the room. "What is it what's the matter?!" Would be the cries of the guards as they came.

Meanwhile....

"I wouldn't go in there if I were you, dear Child of Dark. came a chilling voice in Yuki's ears. It almost sounded like the selfsame voice that haunted Another's mind not too long ago. "You'll find only death there, Death and suffering at the hands of my greatest foe. Seek out a forgotten shrine to the south my child, if you can. I'll be waiting." and with that the voice fell silent.

White Ram Inn

The White Ram's public bar area of the inn was incredibly busy during this time of night. If one would call minding some drunks and tending to midnight travelers looking for a place to rest their bones a busy night. The Innkeeper was sitting on his chair bored as he wrote on a business ledger trying to make sure his supplies, orders, and stocks in the pantry were accounted for. The innkeeper, one Phillip O'Cyrus by name, was a simple man around aged forty, he had family over in the provinces where elves frequented Orina on business.

The family he had here was pleasant enough as well, the Barmaiden who was napping in one of the vacant rooms was his daughter of 18, and helped him out working out several supplies. In the meantime most of the travelers either left the inn or Rented a room for the night. And he half expected no other visitors at the moment.

After wandering around the city for a while longer, Jing Su had finally found the White Ram Inn. Stepping inside, he was immediately thrown off by the bustling establishment. Even at this time of night, there were still some adventurers and drunkards about, talking and telling tales. He weaved his way past some of the patrons to get to the innkeeper's counter "Good evening, sir." he says, reaching into a pocket in his coat and pulling out a small brown bag. Opening it, he pulls out a few coins of decent value and places them on the counter "Will...this be enough for a room and a morning meal?" he asks, making sure not to accidentally knock anything over, especially not someone's drink. He learned that lesson the hard way a year back.

As he waited for a response, he looked around the Inn. It was lively and filled with jolly people, but he had a problem with crowds. He kept to himself and thought about the day's events. He made a mental note to not traverse the rooftops again, as that would draw suspicion with the guards. He also contemplated what he felt when he was in the castle. It didn't feel natural, as if he was not safe as long as he was near there. For now though, he concentrates on what he could do tomorrow. With this many people in the inn, he figured someone would have a request or job they need help with, so he would ask around in the morning. He looks to the innkeeper "Has anything strange been going on recently? Any rumors going around?" he asks. Rumors were also a great way to get information. Perhaps they would lead to dead ends, but they were better than wandering blindly without any sort of idea.

Zaldir Kestal

Zaldir felt relieved that they bought it. However, he knew he only killed a fifth of them whilst Arianrhod took out the rest. None of that mattered much though, his sword, he pretty much did the deed. Then the captain of the guard shouted in announcement that the Princess was now the Queen. "Long live the Queen. Long.....live....the Queen?" his mind slowly drew a blank but the guards helped him up and started to lead him, with Aria in his arms, to her chambers.

But his mind felt like it was recalling something so long ago. But he could not place the strange memory that wormed in his mind

---

He was standing at attention as she was being crowned Queen, wearing a helmet that was not yet adorned with the crest upon it. She looked every bit a Queen, Long had he served her in his youth as a Princess. He watched her in her flowing silver dress which brought about the brightness of her silver eyes. Both Servant and mistress had grown and matured in their own environment.

He dutifully followed her orders of being in the military, having had training of the sword by his own Father. But then, a black creature appeared and started attacking the guests, clawing and gnashing it's way towards the Queen. He began to charge at the monster...

-----

Zaldir's Mind snapped back to reality and found he followed the guards to Arianrhod's Chambers and they left him alone with her. He set her down on what seemed to him a bed as he eyed a cup with strange liquid. Curiosity egged him on as he took the cup and sniffed it. He took a small sip of the cup and immediately set it down quickly and backed up, starting to smack his lips at the strange taste of his first taste of tea.

White Ram Inn

"Oh, yes sir, that'll do kindly." Phillip said as he started writing the amount on his logbook. "This'll cover a night and a nice warm meal. And if you wish sir I'll make a Welcome package for ya. For an extra Two Silvers I give you from a week to a month's worth of staying in White Ram, Free of charge."

Phil paused in his writing when the stranger asked for any rumors about. "When isn't there Rumors lad? Are you some kind of adventurer? Anyway, aside from the world wide cult rumors, I hear tell of a small goblin den or two an hour's walk from the Capital that the farm folk of that area are having troubles with. Perfect start for a man like you."

Phillip then flipped the book around. "Just sign on this area here and your room is the Second door to yer right upstairs."

Intrigued by the deal offered to him, Jing Su happily placed two more silver coins on the counter "I'll accept that deal, thank you." he smiles under his hood. He wanted to stay in the city for a while longer, wanting to figure out what exactly was going on. There seemed to be much turmoil here. Besides, he hadn't had a place to stay for an extended period of time in a while, so this would be a nice way to have a real bed for some time.

Onto more serious issues, he raised an eyebrow at the rumors of the cult. He'd have to look into that at some point. First, however, he wanted to do what he could now, which was help drive away the goblins. "Thanks for the information. I'll see if I can deal with those goblins tomorrow. A farmer's life is difficult enough without monsters intervening." he said, turning to walk up the stairs. He opened the door to his room and walked inside, noticing a comfortable bed, a dresser, a nightstand, and a window that gave a view of part of the city outside.

He placed his satchel on the nightstand and placed his sword near the bed. He removes his robe, which leaves him in a black undershirt. Deciding it would be best to get a good night's sleep, he lies down on the bed, slowly closing his eyes. He wonders how the village was doing. It's been a few years since he left on his journey and he missed his home greatly. He missed his mother's cooking, training with his father, and helping around the village whenever he could. He couldn't wait to tell everyone about the adventures he's been on so far, but he felt like he still had a long road ahead of him before he could consider himself ready to return home.
