"What a well groomed young lady!" Most people would say if they saw Narisia Seraphim. As the one with all the hopes of the crown upon her shoulders, of course poise and etiquette would be beaten into her, without a single hair misplaced at any social gathering. When showing her face to the public she's always immaculate and emotionless, not even a flicker of light in those cold eyes of hers. There's no room for emotion when you're fit to rule the Kingdom of Ourania after all. With shining jewelry and finery to sharpen her appearance, Narisia Seraphim is always to be perfect.

Ellen Winter is what you'd call someone prim and proper. Her hair is always straight and neat, and her clothes are always well pressed and matching. A tidy young lady, was there a wild bone in her body at all? Compared to her more rambunctious cousin, Crescent, Ellen's much more restrained in both body language and dress. Naturally she's not as stiff and rigid as she used to be, but some things never truly change. Quite, mysterious, with pale skin and raven hair, you could consider Ellen to be something of a classical beauty.

"To rule Ashia, you must be as strong and harsh as a blizzard's stormy wind."

For a long time Narisia Evangelia Seraphim was raised on that tenet. From the beginning her mother took charge, entranced by the same very blue eyes that the queen herself possessed. King Azel was busy dealing with the war with Tartaria, so he didn't have time to intrude on the mother's training of her daughter. As Ashia's resources dwindled and it's armies continued to lose, the other noble families had doubt on Queen Narina's skill to be Queen. Was she strong enough? Did she have what it takes to support King Azel's efforts to keep Ourania strong? As the courts whispers continued to grow Narina's kind and gentle hand became harsh and cruel. Her warmth became cold, and Narisia was thrust into harsh training to become an heir to prove everyone wrong. "You can't play with toys." Narina would say, slapping the toys away. "You can't play games. You must become proper, or they'll never respect you." Little Narisia was forced to grow up or face the whip's lashing punishments.

Ashia was not in a good state of affairs. The city was split into three tiers, The Rubble Tier where the least educated and most impoverished lived, the Blossom Tier, where those with comfortable lives looked down upon those from below, and finally, at the top of the food chain, the Untouchable Tier, for the elites, the rich, and their cohorts to make their lives. As the noble families played politics, trying to take away from one another, many eyes were on the younger generation, expecting the children to also compete with one another for authority and power. Above the rest were three standout children. Narisia Seraphim was one of them, Itward Cherubim, young scion of the Cherubim house was the second, and petite Aine Dorones with her angelic smile was the third. Rather than fight amongst each other, the three became friends, staying above all the other young nobles.

It was a lot of work and stress, but Narisia was finally earning her mother's approval. As long as she studied harder than the rest, worked harder than the rest, things would be well.

Finally, the war came to an end. There were peace talks being done between King Azel of Ashia and King Spirulus of Tartaria. They negotiated peace, and Narisia would be arranged to marry the young Prince Semyon of Tartaria, with his hair as white as snow and pale skin, like most Tartarians, they lived underground and didn't see much of the sun above their sandy ceiling. Neither Narisia nor Semyon were happy with this. She was busy learning about technology and machines, she had no time to court a Prince. And Prince Semyon was also unhappy, he was in love with someone else. But for the sake of peace and sparing more lives, the young Heirs chose to honor the decision their parents made.

Tensions continued to grow, however. Not from Tartaria, but from within Ashia's own walls. The Rubbles and the Blossoms were rising up, raging against the elite noble class. There was unrest, and populism began filling Ashia's streets. Who was leaking information to the lower tiers? Who was spreading knowledge and learning to those below? "Itward, Nee, there's a secret I haven't told either of you yet." Aine Dorones smiled, holding her hands out to them. "I'm the one teaching the Rubbles how to read, how to write. I'm going to make a better Ashia. Won't you two help me?" Itward frowned, troubled. He was afraid. "Isn't that dangerous?" But Narisia knew what had to be done. "It's a shame it had to be you, Aine. as the Princess of Ashia, I order your arrest for treason against the Crown." As Itward protested in confusion and fear, Narisia closed her heart off. Friends didn't matter, only maintaining balance did.

But the disappearance of Aine Dorones only made matters worse. What was once a peaceful enlightenment of the lower classes became a violent surge once their angel was taken away from them. It was an unstable situation, and they were all clambering for Princess Narisa to come out. Queen Narina invested a lot of time to carve and mold her into a proper successor to the throne, she couldn't just allow her to be hurt. "I'll put you to sleep." Narina said, pushing Narisia into a room. "So for now, just close your eyes."

12 year old Narisia wasn't sure what to think when she opened her eyes and found herself on a boat with a woman with golden hair on a lake. She had no memories, and could barely speak the language. "Heaven granted me a child." Leona Winter said, hugging the amnesiac child. "I'll name you Ellen, after my mother. My sister has a daughter, her name is Cress, I know you two would be best of friends."

Heron had left again, giving Cress time to herself. She arranged the flowers around the windows, hoping that they would get enough light despite the angle. She showered next, figuring she had enough time. Cress felt anxious, but she didn't know what to do with herself. She couldn't exactly explore much considering she couldn't read their langauge and was still curious as to how she understood it. Could she really be Ellie's sister? Was it possible that she had been ejected from this world at birth? Was her Mother really her Mother? Was that horrible woman from the ball her birth Mom? Cress had so many questions and next to no answers. Would she be able to ask them all to Ellie? No, it wasn't likely, not with Heron in the room.

Cress shuffled around for pencil and paper, she needed to write, she had to get a letter in to tell Ellie her discovery. Hopefully she would be able to slyly slip it into her pocket. Hopefully Ellie would recognize her and wouldn't feel odd that some stranger wanted to meet her. With a sigh of relief she sat down, clicking the pen and hoping it wasn't some new fangled tech they used up here. She touched it against the paper briefly to test it, but it wrote normally. Dear Ellie, Cress started, thinking to herself.

I tried to talk to you at the party, but you didn't seem very receptive, so I'm gonna try this instead, which you can read in the privacy of your own castle. Today is Tuesday, I think, it was a Sunday when I left earth and I don't know if they even have the same name for days here, but anyway, I've come across a very important discovery. When I was with the rebellion, which is a story for later, they tested my blood. They found a genetic match with a certain strain of DNA, your strain. Ellie, we're not cousins, we're sisters. I don't know how this is possible or if this is even right, but I need you to know. I don't know what to do. I feel lost, this place is so strange. I want to go home Ellie, with you. Our real home, not this strange place.

-Cress

She sealed the letter carefully and placed it in her pocket, Heron would be back soon. She erased any signs of her writing and replaced the pencil and paper. She may as well make dinner while she waited and so Cress set the table and went about making one of the meals her Mother had taught her to make, fried chicken and mashed potatoes. Comfort food, for when you felt down. The door opened and shut, "Kairi, I'm back!" Heron bound inside, seeming excited. "I've got good news, the Princess is gonna come here. We won't even have to go to the castle to see her." Cress turned, holding the wooden spoon with mashed potatoes on the end. "Really!" Her excitement was not feigned, she couldn't wait to see her cousin again.

On the morning of the day Princess Narisia was finally able to find a day where she could go and visit Cress, taking Shiro with her of cours,e it had been a few days since the letter was sent out. Kora had been spending her time pretending to be a Blossom-born and spending time with her long lost twin sister and her lover, Aspen Heterach. It was an odd time, almost like a fairytale. Learning alongside her sister, and then going out on adventures, exploring the beautiful and wondrous sights waiting for her throughout the Blossom Tier was something she didn't quite understand, but didn't want to jeopardize nonetheless. "Wake up, sleepyhead." Aya snickered, pulling Kora out of bed. "C'mon! It's the weekend!" At the end of the week there was one day where they were given a day off to enjoy free time and catch up on homework they were behind on.

"O-okay. What are we going to do?" Aya and Aspen were always going so fast all around Kora had trouble keeping up. She knew she was stupid though, a squid like her wasn't the same as these two humans. Most of the time she was just being pulled along at their pace, trying to get used to everything. "We're going to the Silver Plateau today." Aya explained with a knowing smile. "It's near the top of the Blossom Tier, and we'll get a great view of Lake Asphodel from there. Come on, let's go!" Outside the dorm that the twins now shared - Xion gave permission as her current "guardian" Aspen was waiting, his gravity bike ready. "Come on girls." He said, revving the engine. "We don't have all time to dawdle now."

She barely had had time to get dressed in common clothes and eat the teeth cleaning paste before she was put on the bike and they were flying through the air. "This is going to be so much fun! We're going to take a bike ride over Lake Asphodel!" Aya exclaimed, raising her hands up in excitement. "Slow down, Aya, you're overwhelming her." Aspen almost sounded gentle. "It's hard for a Rubble to adjust to all of this, isn't it?" Still, doubt lingered in Kora's chest. She needed to be ready to help her New Best Friend, Cress. Though was it bad that sometimes she hardly thought about her because she was busy having knowledge and learning shoved into her tiny brain?

She was an awful friend. While Cress was working hard for the Resistance Kora was playing around with her sister.

Before they could go out over the Silver Pavillion and glide over Lake Asphodel's glistening waters, there was a squadron of Knights standing there, waiting for them. "Aya Filia." The one at the center read from a page. "You're under arrest for impersonating Aine Dorones and infiltrating a party at Ashia Palace." Kora gulped, panic in her eyes as she saw Itward Cherubim approaching, the holopage in his hands. "Come quietly and you won't get hurt." Aya looked confused, tilting her head. "I wasn't at the party. I was at school, you can even ask my teachers. I didn't leave the dorm." There was annoyance on Itward's face as the knights closed in, their spears glowing.

"I-It was me! I did it!" Kora had finally gotten her sister back. She wasn't going to lose her again. "I'm the one who did it!" She didn't have the emergency smoke stick on her, she hadn't had time to get it. "She has the rights to a lawyer." Aspen said quickly as the knights clasped Kora in cuffs. "This is a violation of-" Itward snapped his fingers and the Knights hit him on the head, knocking him to the ground. "This is a matter of public security. There are exceptions." He said gruffly. Aya's eyes were wide as she looked back and forth. "H-hey! This isn't right! What do you think you're-"

Kora smiled, because she knew that as long as she smiled everything would be okay. "I'll be fine! I'm smiling!" She said with a big beaming smile. Aya stared at her sister as if realizing for the first time how damaged her sister's mental state was, how fragile it was.

"Hey, wake up." Heron was shaking her, Cress pried one eye open, then the other. She felt woozy, her stomach sick. Why was her head throbbing so much? Wait, where were her pajamas? Why was she in Heron's bed when she had her own room now? Cress bolted upright, awareness but no memories of how she ended up here. "I guess you were a light weight after all, it's almost noon." Noon? Cress glanced at the clock on the mantle, it was 11:50. "Lightweight?" Cress winced, the light too harsh for her eyes. Heron held up an empty bottle, was that... liquor? Cress blanched, she was underage. How did she get a hold of that? It all came rushing back to her. Dinner, she had made Heron dinner and Heron had opened the bottle, offered her a glass. Cress had taken a sip to be polite and then another and then-oh gosh-the whole bottle was empty.

"Anyway Cress I think we have a lot to talk about."

"So you're really a Princess?" Heron asked ten minutes later. Cress was sitting on the counter while Heron fried eggs in a pen, her hair in a messy bun and wearing one of Heron's shirts. "Yeah, at least, I think so. That's what the blood test said." Heron flipped the egg, the butter sizzling in the pan. "I mean, it almost makes sense if you think about it. Narina is the kind of Queen that doesn't see a need for extras, so she... sent you off. Probably didn't expect you to survive." She slid the eggs onto two plates, handing one to Cress, who picked up a fork. Heron leaned against the opposite counter, the two eating in silence for a few minutes. "So why a bunny?" She asked eventually, breaking the silence.

"I didn't get to pick, I just woke up like this." Cress was careful not to mention any names, Heron was a knight after all. "So why didn't you tell Princess Narisia? Or Queen Narina?" After all, Cress had seen her only last week. Today was a day off, since it was the weekend. "I couldn't, not with... you know." Cress groaned, "This is all just a big mistake. I shouldn't have sought you out." She placed her egg to the side, barely touched. "You should eat, you're gonna get hungry later." Heron nudged the plate back towards her and Cress picked it up again. "Does the Princess know?" Cress nodded. "I told her, well, I wrote a letter to her and hopefully she got it and didn't just throw it out." She swung her legs, feeling anxious.

"I'm sure she read it, Nee isn't that kind of person. I'm not on speaking terms with my brother, but he's closer to her than I am." Cress thought she was close to Ellie, turns out, she barely knew her. "Well, today is a day off. So we have time to figure it out and oh gosh, this makes me the asshole knight that slept with the Princess." Cress's cheeks turned vibrant red. "Pass me that bottle-" Heron laughed. "No, getting drunk isn't the answer. Come on, let's get dressed. I've got the day off so we can at least go get some shopping done." Cress nodded, sliding off the counter. "Hey, how old are you, really?" Heron suddenly asked, as though the thought just occured to her.

"Sixteen."

"So I'm an asshole and a pedo!?"

The little squid blinked, confused. What was she doing? She could hardly remember. She had been taken in, arrested by the Knights for impersonating Aine Dorones at the homecoming, and infiltrating the party. Itward Cherubim took her in, his grip hard, her wrists cuffed inside the fancy locks. "You're coming with us. I suggest you behave and don't act up." He told her as she was put into the carriage taking her to the Untouchable Tier. It looked so artificial and fake, as much as it was pretty Aya simply couldn't enjoy the view. Her mind had wandered in that carriage, thinking back to her sister and her lover. Aspen and the real Aya were trying to save her, but in the end Kora knew that there was no saving her. This was just karma for believing she could be like her wonderful and amazing sister.

Itward had taken her into a different place. She wasn't brought to the Palace to face the Queen, nor was she made to plead for representation as she was dragged off to the Knight Station. Instead she was taken to a large impressive building, with intimidating statues guarding both sides of the main entrance. "Welcome to the Cherubim household." Itward said simply. "I've already tried you as guilty, so you'll be coming with me." The other knights left then, leaving her alone with Itward. A strange mute girl who Aya could vaguely remember as Nio was looking at her, staring from the upper stairwell. She dashed off, hiding away into her room. Aya decided to smile because smiling made everything better. As long as she smiled, she would be okay. "Come on, stop dawdling." He pulled her harder.

Aya didn't really remember what happened next. All she knew was that she was put into a strange place. Where was it? There was no natural light? All Aya knew was that she couldn't quite move. It was dark, she couldn't see. It must be a small enclosed area since the air felt stuffy and dull to her already poor lungs thanks to living in the Rubble Tier. How long has it been? The squid had no idea. Still, eventually, the door did open, revealing a chamber that looked almost medical in nature. Itward Cherubim pulled her out, dragging her by the wrist. There was a dark look in his eyes.

"Why... am I..." Itward didn't answer, but his grip tightened as she was pulled out of the strange small cell. "You're clearly working in concert with the resistance." He said, his red hair crimson in the artificial light. "For the safety of this nation, I'm going to find out everything I know." So this was an interrogation? "How did you get in? Who helped you?" If she said anything, Cress would be in danger. So Aya kept her lips shut as she smiled reflexively. "Stop smiling." Itward shook his head. "I'll have to use force then." He grabbed her wrists and wrenched them upwards, connecting them to a wire above their heads. "You asked for this, so don't blame me." He growled, pressing a button as mechanical whirring began.

With her arms up locked in the air above her head to the wire running through the room Aya wasn't sure what to think. Itward Cheribum was looking at her. He wanted information, he wanted to know who the rebels were, he wanted her to betray everyone. If it was only Xion, if it was only Farrel and everyone else she wouldn't have cared. She would have happily given up the information because the truth was that Aya wasn't the kind of person that cared all that much about the fate of Ashia. She just wanted to live out her normal mundane life as a normal girl, smiling all the way just like her sister taught her. But now she was here in a dungeon, and she didn't want to sell out the only person who truly wanted to be her friend. She didn't want to sell out Cress.

"So you're not going to tell me?" Itward shook his head ruefully. "Then I guess you know what's about to happen. Don't blame me, you chose this of your own free will." He pressed a button and two arms reached up beside her. Aya blinked, staring at the arms in confusion. What were they going to do? She was a little bit afraid, but then the arms reached her sides, rubbing against them. What was this? It just felt weird, she didn't even laugh or anything. "Oh, you're not ticklish?" He sighed, looking at her. Tickling? This was what that was? Her sister, the real Aya, was quite ticklish but Kora wasn't at all in the slightest. "Alright, I guess I'll have to do this the hard way then." He pressed the button again and the tickle arms went back down into the floor.

Then he pulled down the raggy pants from around her bony emaciated hips, the bones jutting out, jagged and not pretty at all. Fear thumped painfully in her heart as she writhed, not liking being exposed like this. He didn't seem to show any particular interest however. She decided to smile. As long as she smiled everything would be okay. "Why are you smiling?" Itward asked, looking at her funny. "So it'll be okay." She explained. Why didn't anyone understand this? Smiling was good. No matter how bad it got, by smiling and being positive, anything can happen! That's what she always believed and in a time like this, she would cling to that belief even harder.

Something sharp and painful entered her from beneath. She barely even knew she had an opening down there for something to be put in. Blood dripped down onto the chromatic metal floor and then she began to twitch and scream as the sound began, the drilling. He watched her with stony hard eyes as she twitched, as her vision flashed, as her legs danced and her toes curled. Was he doing something bad to her? Was he going to turn her into furniture? Her vision faded and she could no longer see and she went limp on the drill spike.

Her vision blanked back into existence thanks to an injection digging into her thigh. It was still going on, her body was still being destroyed. "Who are the rebels?" He asked, glaring at her. She didn't know, she couldn't even think anymore let alone answer any questions. All she knew was that even as she screamed, she did her best to smile.

"I don't think the ice cream is gonna solve this." They were at a cafe now, sharing an ice cream sundae despite Cress insisting that she wasn't all that hungry. "Wait a second... is this a date?" She asked, rising to her feet. "Did you just notice?" Heron asked, seeming surprised. Cress's cheeks turned bright red for the fifth time that day and it wasn't even four. "We, you know, it's only proper so your Mom doesn't think I'm a complete skirt chaser." Cress didn't know what to think, her bunny ears were twitching with mild annoyance. "Eat some, or I'm gonna take all the whipped cream." Cress sighed and picked up her spoon, her thoughts drifting to Aya. Was she safe? Had Xion extracted her like she promised? Cress hoped so. "What are you thinking about?" Heron asked, curious. "My Rubble friend, but I don't know what happened to her."

"What's her name?" Cress shook her head, if she said that much, it would be obvious who she was. "I don't know, she helped me when I came to earth, but I never learned her name." An easy enough lie, although she felt guilty about it. She ate the whipped cream off of her side of the ice cream so Heron couldn't have any. "What are we doing next?" Cress inquired, since apparently she was now on a date. "I was thinking we could go to Lake Asphodel and then we'll grab some dinner somewhere." Heron rose, holding out a hand. Cress ignored the hand and followed her, the two of them taking the train again. "You remind me of someone." Heron drummed a finger against her chin as they stood on the platform. "But I don't know who," she looked past her, her eyes widening.

"Shit, not here. This is the last place I expected them to be." Who? Cress tried to look, but Heron blocked her path. "Come on, we're going this way." She grabbed Cress's wrist, dragging her through the crowd. "Heron, what are you doing? Who's following us?" Cress asked, wondering if she should be worried. "Rebels, they're tailing us. The Cherubims are known for their red hair," Cress didn't have the heart to tell Heron that they were probably assigned to keep an eye on Cress and not after them, but she also had the sense to keep her mouth shut. "What are we gonna do??" Cress asked instead. "Take a different train," one stopped on the platform, it was near silent, if not for the ding that meant it had arrived.

They stepped inside, Heron tugging on Cress, her hand on Cress's waist. Almost immediately, they were surrounded, the rebels holding them at gun point. "Heron Cherubim, don't make a fuss. You're coming with us," Heron's free hand flit to her side, but someone had already grabbed her rapier. Cress's hands balled into fists, it seemed that the jig was up. "Cress, they took Aya." Farren said, pushing his way to the front. "What do you mean? Who took Aya?" Cress asked quietly as Heron was pat down, her weapons confiscated. "Itward Cherubim, Heron's brother."

Aya was curled up on the ground, whimpering and shaking. "Stop fighting it." Itward Cherubim muttered, holding the cauterizing stick in his hands. "You're bleeding out, you're going to die if this keeps up." She could barely move, but still, she didn't want him to do anything to her anymore. Without the strength to smile, she no longer believed that everything would be okay. Try as she might, the little squid didn't have what it took to keep on smiling. The stupid little squid didn't know how to do it. Her sister always told her to smile no matter what happened, but in the end she couldn't even do that. How pathetic, was she. Since she couldn't keep on smiling, she was no longer promised a life of happiness and joy. Because she couldn't keep on smiling, it was all over now.

She screamed as the heat burned at her insides, stopping the flow of blood. "If you'd just tell me what I needed to know, this wouldn't have happened." He shook his head, looking at her as if she were an alien. Was this what it meant to be an Untouchable? Did all Untouchables do this? Aya didn't know, she didn't know anything. How could a stupid girl - was she a girl anymore? Her special thing down there was destroyed, was there anything she could do that was girly anymore? The squid whimpered and shivered, remaining a useless heap on the bloody ground. She heard a sigh of annoyance and then Itward Cherubim disappeared up the stairs. Aya sniffled, not knowing how to move. Was it possible for squid furniture to move? The stupid girl didn't know, but she would remain like this forever probably.

There was a creak. The door opened, but the footsteps were different. They were most definitely lighter, not like Itward's deliberate and slow steps that clearly indicated his presence. Still, Aya tensed, her blonde hair like a carpet of yellow on the floor, spreading all out from her head, some strands soaked in the red blood puddle that was her new bed. A tuft of red hair, bright yet grim eyes, and a voiceless gasp greeted her. Aya had been forced to recognize this girl's face. It was Nio Cherubim, the youngest daughter of the Cherubim family. She pulled out some strange white gel and began working, rubbing it on the hurt spot. Aya twitched, sliding away from her. What was that? What was that? She didn't want that.

Nio pulled at her collar then, the choker pulling away from her throat to reveal a series of harsh painful scars lining her throat. She opened her mouth and tried to speak but no sound came out. Was - could it be? Was Nio another of Itward's victims? His own sisters? But family was supposed to love each other, but what kind of family did this? Nio's gentle hands, her delicate touch allowed Aya to feel a bit of relief and the worst parts of the pain faded away into nothingness. Nio helped clean Aya up with a wet sponge, dutifully scrubbing away at the blood.

"Here's the plan," Xion began. Heron and Cress were both tied to chairs in the rebel base. They had to keep up the charade, of course, that Cress was not part of the rebellion and simply a girl working for Heron. They didn't know, of course, that Cress had told Heron in a drunken stupor what her true identity was. "Why should I do anything for you?" Heron growled, clearly unhappy about being taken. Cress acted meek and scared the way she was supposed to, Farren having tied her bunny ears together with a scrunchy. "Because this is an innocent girl that was taken by your brother," Xion slammed her fist against the wall, making Cress jump. She straightened, fixing her eye patch and clearing her throat. "As I was saying, here's the plan. Heron, you're going to distract your brother. You'll take your servant- what's her name?"

"Kairi," Cress supplied in a meek tone. "You'll take your servant Kairi and Farren, who will act as your other servant. You and Kairi will serve as a distraction while Farren extracts Aya. Once Aya is secure, Farren will give you the signal and you can leave as though nothing happened." Heron grit her jaw, struggling against the zip ties that bound her to the chair. Cress didn't struggle, Farren had barely even tied her down. "And why should I help you? What's in it for me?" Heron asked, her leg bouncing. "You get to join the rebellion and go against your brother and we'll let you keep your little bunny slave instead of freeing her." Xion grabbed Cress by the rabbit-ears, the pain in Cress's expression very real. "Too hard," Farren whispered in Xion's ear, but she didn't let up. They had an act to keep up, of course.

Heron's mouth drew into a tight line. Her eyes met Cress's, a supposed innocent bystander to all of this. "Fine," Heron sighed, it seemed she had no other choice. "We'll do it, but after that, you'll leave my servant and I alone. If you try something again, I'll be delivering your heads to the Queen myself." Xion released Cress's ears, which flopped over almost immediately. The tears of relief in the corners of Cress's eyes were very real. "We leave in an hour," Xion made her exit. Farren was nice enough to release them from the chairs, locking the doors behind him. It seemed until it was time, they would be stuck in this room. "Heron, we can... escape through the window? You don't have to do this." Cress made a lame attempt to open the window, which was, predictably, locked. "No, I do have to. My brother's kidnapped an innocent girl who was forced to play Untouchable by these rebels. I've gotta go set him straight." Heron grabbed Cress's hand, drawing Cress into her arms. "I'm not gonna let them hurt you."

The guilt Cress felt was real. She was using Heron just as much as everyone else here. She shouldn't feel like this, Heron nearly killed her, so why did Cress feel a pang in her chest? The hour seemed to pass far too quickly. Farren opened the doors when it was time to go and led them to an unmarked van. "Ready?" He asked and before they could answer, it shot off down the road. "Itward and I aren't technically on speaking terms," Heron muttered, clearly frustrated by all of this. "Maybe Nio'll open the door so I don't have to talk to him." Cress touched Heron's shoulder. "We can do this," she tried to smile reassuringly, but the risk of being caught was great.

It was the middle of the night when Itward Cherubim came back down. Aya was still laying down in a heap, she didn't want to move but at least she wasn't covered in her own blood anymore. She was horribly hungry, and desperately needed to pee, but right now she didn't have the strength to take care of any of that. "You're being overdramatic." Itward said simply, picking her up as if she were a sack of potatoes. "All you had to do was tell me what I needed to know. Don't you know how dangerous the rebels are?" Right now the most dangerous thing to Aya was this devil with red hair and cruel eyes. Were the rebels dangerous? Yes, and Aya wanted nothing to do with them. But Itward actually hurt her while all the rebels did was call her a squid and boss her around.

"A lady shouldn't be laying around with her bottom half exposed like that." He said and Aya couldn't help but laugh weakly, her emaciated body trembling as he sat her down. "I'm guessing Nio came down to take care of you?" She didn't want to sell Nio out but it was pretty obvious Aya was in no state to take care of herself. "Am I still...?" She wasn't a girl anymore, not after what happened. She didn't know what she was now. A squid was probably the best way to describe the blonde twin. "Look, I don't like doing stuff like this, okay?" Itward sighed, helping Aya into better clothes, though she didn't do much in terms of helping. "But just be glad it wasn't the Queen who found you. You'd never see the light of day again." Was it worse than this? That was hard to believe.

But she couldn't tell him about Cress. If she did, who knows what sort of horrible things would happen to her best friend? What did Cress's voice sound like again? All Aya could really remember was the head of fiery hair so bright it was almost like the shining of the sun overhead. There was a sound then. "Someone's here. I'll go tend to it then." He went upstairs, leaving Aya on a sofa in the basement. She shivered, closing her eyes. What was happening now? The squid really didn't want to know. Lighter footsteps came then and who else but little Nio, with a few steaming hot honey buns in her hands. She did a silent smile and handed one to Aya, an insistent look on her tiny face.

"I don't..." Nio shook her head and shoved it into Aya's mouth as she tried to talk. It tasted sweet, it was warm, it was nothing like the plastic nutrient paste she was used to consuming. Real food was an oddity to Aya and it still hurt her stomach to try to take it in. It wasn't the best at breaking down anything that wasn't the plasticy nutrient paste she always ate. Nio was smiling happily as she ate her own honey bun, it was a shame she shared the same hair as her awful brother.

They stopped a block away from Itward's home. The three of them exited the vehicle, Farrel fixing his ears in the reflection of a window before Heron ushered them along towards a large house with an even larger gate. "Welcome to the Cherubim estate," she grumbled. It was nearly midnight now, the perfect time for a home visit, apparently. Heron had work tomorrow and Cress, well, she would just be waiting in Heron's apartment, so it wasn't like it mattered. Heron pushed a button on the gate, crossing her arms. "Itward? It's me! It's Heron, let me in!" She spoke into an invisible camera. "Can't believe I'm doing this." She muttered, grasping Cress by the hip, almost as though it were a reflex. Farrel didn't seem nervous in the least, unlike Cress and Heron, especially Heron.

The gate opened, the three of them walking inside. The door opened as though someone were waiting for them, but there was no one there. It was creepy, almost. "This way," Heron led the way. Itward was waiting for them in in what Cress assumed was a parlor or drawing room. Before he could catch sight of him, Farrel slunk away, going to find out where Aya was being hidden and hopefully rescue her. "I thought you weren't speaking to me?" Itward asked casually, inspecting his nails. Heron crossed through the threshold, Itward's eyes flickering upwards. They went immediately to Cress, whom Heron was attempting to obscure behind her. "What's that? A new girl toy for you to play with?" Cress's cheeks heated up immediately, her rabbit ears twitching.

"That's why I'm here." Heron said softly, taking a seat on the opposite end of the room. She grabbed Cress's wrist, pulling her onto her lap. "Itward, there are rebels listening." Heron of course, worked for the Queen. To betray the rebels meant ensuring her future and good standing as a knight, but she wasn't going to let an innocent girl continue to be tortured. "Heron, what are you doing?" Cress whispered, Heron's grip tightening around her. "This girl is related to the Princess, I rescued her from the rebels. They followed us here, I'm sure they're listening right now." She was going off script, she was going rogue. What was Heron thinking? Itward leaned forward. "Ridiculous, the Princess does-"

"It's true," Cress cut him off. "E-Princess Narisia and I are sisters." Itward was silent for a moment. "How can this be? The Queen nor Princess ever made mention of another heir." They needed to abort the mission, Heron had spilled too much and yet-this was Cress's best chance of getting close to Ellie. "You can test my blood," Cress held out her arm. "If you truly are related to the Princess, you can't stay with my womanizer of a sister. You'll stay here, I'll appoint a room for you and-"

"No, I'd rather stay with Heron." Cress... trusted Heron more than she did Itward. She knew that Heron wouldn't purposely hurt her, she wasn't so sure about this redhead. "Nio!" Itward called outside the room, "grab me the blood kit!" He closed the door behind him. "How is Nio?" Heron asked softly, Itward sat back down. "She doesn't want to see you," he replied stiffly. Heron grit her jaw, her teeth grinding together. "I understand," Heron replied reluctantly. Itward rose when someone knocked, obscuring Cress and Heron's view. "Hold out your arm," Cress did as told, the cold wipe against her forearm making her slightly nauseous. The needle was different, it was more of a suction cup than anything. She watched as he tapped it against the vein, the suction pulling blood up almost immediately. There was no pain, none of the inconviences of earth.

"How are you gonna test it?" Heron asked, wondering if Itward had the Princess's DNA stored somewhere, which wouldn't surprise her. "Computers Heron, they do all of the leg work these days. Honestly," he shook his head, turning to the large computer that Cress had just noticed. He placed the vial into a slot, the computer reading her DNA. Cress watched, slightly entranced.

Only one match came up, Princess Narisia.

"Impossible, the DNA is near identical."

Nio shook her head as Aya coughed, unable to fully ingest the honey buns as she was expected to. The little redhaired mute gaped, fishing around her bag for something else instead. It seemed there was more food available inside of it, Aya could smell it from here. She still wasn't used to the idea of food having a smell. Really, food wasn't supposed to smell, because nutrient paste was both tasteless and scent free. They made it that way just in case there were any Rubbles born with chemical insensitivities that couldn't handle it. A bar of some sort was pulled out and Nio carefully unwrapped the colorful wrapper. It was made of some sort of butter and cream, and even that smelled good. Nio gave a smile and handed it over to Aya, who wasn't sure what to do with it.

Was it really okay for a piece of furniture to eat? A little useless broken squid like her? She didn't even know how to smile, let alone do anything else. Nio smiled and took another one out, unwrapping it and biting into it, chewing. Aya did the same, though with a bit more hesitance as she did so. She chewed, flavor exploding in her mouth. Nio nodded, patting her tummy enthusiastically. Aya blinked, deciding to pat hers as well. She didn't quite understand the purpose of doing so, but she did so regardless. Suddenly there was a yell from upstairs, sudden enough that Nio jumped up in shock. She did a little gesture of apology with her hands and scurried up the stairs like a frightened rat. Itward called for her, so now Aya would have to be alone again down here. Little Nio made sure to fasten the choker to hide the scars first of course.

What was happening up there? Aya didn't know. Was Itward having her be transferred to the Queen? If Itward did this much pain and damage to her, wouldn't the Queen be even worse? She didn't want that, she didn't want to be hurt anymore. She just wanted to go back to her Father and smile all the pain away. She sniffled, rubbing at her eyes. Would she ever get to see the real Aya again? Kora sure hoped so. It was almost like a dream seeing her the first time, but did dreams exist? Were Rubbles allowed to dream? Blossoms and Untouchables would say no, they always stamped on the dreams of poor Rubbles.

She really needed to pee. Aya decided to try and stand up, but the sudden movement made her head spin and her legs wobbly so she fell towards the wall to catch up, trying to hold herself up by leaning against it. Was there a bathroom around here? Aya hobbled around at the speed of an elderly person until she found another room in the basement. It was strange, shiny with something that looked like a fancier version of the toilets Aya was used to back home. She slid her pants down and sat on the seat, whimpering. It burned, it stung, it hurt to try and let out the pee. Why did it hurt? She whimpered and sobbed, trying to force it all out but it just hurt so much.

"I've located Aya, I'm moving to extract her now." Farrel's voice crackled in Cress's ear. It was a relief to hear that they had found her and were taking her to somewhere safe. "Heron, she should stay here. I know you, you're going to prey on her." Itward and Heron were arguing while Cress sat on the couch, the two siblings standing across from one another, in the middle of a shouting match while Cress awkwardly watched. "I would feel more comfortable returning with Heron." Cress piped up, but she was barely heard. It seemed it mattered not what she wanted, despite being the one whose future was at stake. Cress rose, she was tired of playing the meek rabbit. Cress was better than that. She cleared her throat, both of them stopping long enough to stare at her.

"I said I want to return with Heron." Cress placed her hands on her hips, "I don't care about what happens next, but I want to stay with Heron. I feel safer with her," Heron sidled up behind her, a sly smile on her lips. She wrapped an arm around Cress's waist, her expression one of keen satisfaction. It was clear that for once, someone was on Heron's side and not Itward's. "Then you'll both stay here," Itward said suddenly, but Heron shook her head. "It's too far out of the way, I've got work in the morning. Look, I only came here to ask for your help, I don't need your protection." Itward was grinding his teeth at this point. "You said the rebels were after you, of course you need my protection! There's nowhere safer than our house!"

"Yeah, but I don't want to be here." Heron crossed her arms, releasing Cress from her grasp. Itward ran a hand through his hair in frustration. "Fine," he said at last. "Fine, go back to your apartment. I'll come in the morning to pick Kairi up. You'll go straight to the Queen," Cress crossed her arms. "Isn't she the one that got rid of me in the first place?" Heron and Itward both looked at her. "We don't know that," Itward said after an awkard lapse of silence. "I don't think we should take her to the Queen," Heron agreed, her arm was around Cress's waist again, almost as though it fell there instinctively. "What about the Princess?" Itward inquired, taking a seat once more. It was past midnight now, they were all tired.

"I'm fine with meeting the Princess," Cress replied a bit too quickly. "Of course, she's your sister. I'm sure you're eager to reunite with her." Heron pulled Cress onto her lap on the couch again. "I'm just afraid that she's not who I think she is." Cress admitted, but they did not know what she meant by that of course. "I'm going to have my driver take you home." Itward pulled out what looked like a piece of glass, the screen illuminating, images projected above it. Cress had never seen anything like it before. "I don't want you taking the train this late. I'll be at your apartment in the morning, if Kairi is who she says she is, she needs to be coached. You don't just declare yourself a Princess and have the mannerisms of a rubble."

Oh, what a week it was. First she was told by Itward that he found the rebel behind Aine Dorones's mysterious appearance. Not only that, but she was given a mysterious invitation by Heron to come visit her at her apartment. Why ever would Heron Cherubim make such a request? What was it with these Cherubim siblings and their wanting her to make time for them anyways? As Narisia and Shiro continued with their studies under the careful eye of Tutri Vance, she tried to play and balance with schedules until finally she had a free day to go out and do both visits at once. "Odd, no one's here." She took a carriage that deposited both her and Shiro right at Heron Cherubim's assigned apartment. "There's no one here." Well, she would go tend to her visit with Itward Cherubim for now then. Apparently she had a sister she didn't remember, and Cress was being dragged into something bothersome, but what could she do about it? It was late, but she had some free time so she didn't care. She had permission from King Azel, her father, so there was nothing Mother could do or say about it this time.

"Yes, please take me to the Cherubim Estate." She sighed, looking calmly out the window. "Sorry, Shiro, I thought we might have found an ally." Someone to fight against the Queen with but someone as flighty and silly as Heron couldn't really be relied on. As Narisia approached the Cherubim Estate she found the gate already open. Just whatever could be going on? She didn't know, but it was quite suspicious nonetheless. "Careful. Let's sneak in, I have a bad feeling." She instructed Shiro, knowing her attendant could be quite clumsy in the worst of times. So she and Shiro made their way into the Estate, trying their best not to be seen. They snuck around the corners, and then just as expected, she saw someone who really shouldn't be there.

"Pri-Princess Narisia?" A fox eared man gasped, startled. He was holding someone in his arms, her hair blonde just like the sun. This was the Aine lookalike, wasn't it? "I was told a prisoner was here for me to pick up." Narisia's voice was cold and uncaring. "I don't recall Itward hiring anyone like you here." She raised her fist, a new invention around her wrist. The fox eared man was lifted into the air by an invisible force and pinned against the wall. The bloody girl was dropped onto the ground and she whimpered, shivering. "I'll be taking her for now." Narisia decided, taking her in. She reached for the fox eared man but he dashed out the window before she could cuff him, too.

Narisia decided to knock out the Aine lookalike for now, choking her with her new Gravity Drive until she fell limp. That was when she and Shiro made their way to where she heard voices. Her eyes locked together with someone who really wasn't supposed to be here. Heron and Itward, collaborating? There was something ridiculous going on, Heron and Itward seemed to be the ones responsible. Weren't they not on speaking terms ever since he tried to marry her off? "Before anyone goes anywhere, I think I want to know what's going on." Her eyes were cold as she glowered at all three conspirators. "I-its late, I didn't realize you were still-" Itward started but he fell silent. "Heron, I don't know what you're planning, but you're getting in over your head." She wouldn't believe any nonsense about having a sister. "That girl!" Heron started, surprised. "She impersonated my friend." Narisia's voice was harsh with intent. "I'm taking her to the Queen."

Narisia was annoyed. "They sent us the letter, remember?" Cress apparently telling her that they were sisters and that they needed to meet. Today she finally had some free time, so she sent notice that they would be coming but Heron didn't even have the decency to stick around. Truly, it really was such a bother. You weren't supposed to stand up the Princess of Ashia after all, something like that was very improper for a knight to do. "Sorry, but this is something very important we have to do." Shiro would just have to stick it out until then. "And if I'm out here while you're back at the castle, who knows what my mother would do to you?" It was a subtle threat to Shiro to let her know that her place was at Narisia's side, no matter where she may go.

With the fox eared man escaping with his life, and the Aine impersonator properly taken care of for the time being, Narisia and Shiro made their way to the main room where Itward, Heron, and a rabbit eared girl were. Was this what they were running around for? A rabbit eared girl was pretending to be a sister she didn't have? "Princess, you're gonna wanna listen to what this girl's got to say." Heron said suddenly, holding onto her rapier. Itward looked tense, gritting his teeth. "You might want to take better care of your prisoners." Narisia lowered the Aine impersonator onto the ground, releasing control of the gravity drive connected to her wrist. "A rebel was in the process of rescuing her, Itward." He narrowed his eyes and nodded. "She doesn't know about the rebels, so you shouldn't-

Narisia smiled icily. "That's for my mother to determine, and not you, Itward." She turned her head then to address the nonsense she was being told by the rabbit girl. She introduced herself as Cress, a name not just anyone would be able to know. So they were supposed to be sisters? Something like that sounded ridiculous, but the numbers wouldn't lie... "Even so, there's a reason why my Mother disposed of you. If she finds out you're here, you'll only be in further danger." Should someone named Nui Seraphim truly exist, and if that person is Cress, then Cress is in even more danger than before.

"I'll find a way to send you back to Earth. All you must do is wait for me to take care of Mother." It was dangerous to talk about these sorts of things, but she needed to make things clear to Cress. "So do not get yourself involved in anything dangerous until I take care of matters here." Sisters, cousins, what mattered was that Cress was returned home to her family, to where she belonged. That was what Narisia was fighting for. "Itward, I'll send a message to my Mother that I'm staying the night here on official business. I'd rather not return home with rebels scampering about like insects." He nodded, a grim expression on his face. "Then... I'll make rooms." He glowered at Heron who seemed unhappy about this arrangement as well. "You'd do well to stay away from her." Narisia said simply to Heron, putting a hand on her chest. "A knight and a princess together is very improper, even if the princess doesn't technically exist."

Shiro was in slight shock. She looked between Princess Narisia and the rabbit-eared girl, who claimed to be a Princess as well. The DNA strains confirmed it. Shiro grit her jaw, wondering how there could be two Princess. Did that mean she was to serve both of them? How come she had never heard of or seen this Princess before now? Shiro nervously glanced between the Princess and the-other Princess. She called herself Cress, but wasn't that the same name of the girl that had been at the ball the other night? The one by the side of Aine? Or rather, the imposter Aine. Did that mean the other Princess was a rebel? Is that why Shiro had never heard of her? They would be staying here the night, Itward would not allow them to leave with rebels running around loose, but hadn't they already infiltrated his home?

"Wait, Ellie!" Shiro stepped quickly between the rabbit called Crescent and the Princess. "U-um please address the Princess by her name," Shiro said nervously, not wanting this imposter to disrespcet the Princess. "Fine, Princess Nari-whatever-"

"Narisia!"

"Your snootyness," Shiro crossed her arms. "Fine, Princess Narisia," she waved air quotes around the Princess part, but Shiro was satisfied for the most part. "I can't just go back to earth, I don't know how much time has passed there, if the continuum is different. I also apparently never belonged there. That woman on earth isn't my Mom and that man sure as hell wasn't my Dad. My world has been turned upside down and you're just giving me the cold shoulder. I'm sorry if this isn't what you wanted, but this isn't what I wanted either. I can't just go back, not without answers at least. I need to talk to to the Queen." Shiro glanced between the rabbit and the Princess, wondering if they could beleive anything she said.

"I think it would be best if all of this was talked out in the morning," Itward said decisively. Heron jumped in as well, pulling the rabbit-girl away. Narisia stepped forward, warning Heron to stay away from the girl. Shiro's tail wagged, wondering if she should say something as well to back the Princess up. "Relax Nee, I'm just protecting her." Cress, perhaps seeing Narisia's protective side as well, sidled up beside Heron. "I asked for her help," she cocked a hip, crossing her arms. "Everyone relax," Itward said suddenly. "Come, I'll show you to your rooms." He led them upstairs to the guest wing, Cress and Heron each given a separate room, per the legitimate Princess's request. "Shiro you can sleep in-"

"That's okay! I can sleep on the floor beside the Princess's bed." After all, she was just a loyal dog and she had to stay close to the Princess to protect her, not that she could protect her very well. "Alright then, I'll have a servant bring in a spare cot." Shiro's tail wagged as she opened up the door, glad she could do at least this much right. As she sat down on the mattress she suddenly realized that she had not been expecting an overnight trip. She had brought no change of clothes and no spare diapers. Her cheeks turned red as she came to this revelation, wondering what she would do. She couldn't very well stay in this soiled one, now could she? It would begin to smell in a few hours.

It seemed they were going to stay the night here in the Cherubim Estate, where only two Cherubims really lived anymore. Beatrice lived with the Liefthith family now, and Titana was somewhere else as well, and both of their parents were dead and Heron had moved out to become a knight to avoid being married off herself. Cress seemed adamant to stay here on Ouranous instead of return to Earth where it was safe. Why? "Mother tried to get rid of you before." Narisia's voice was thin. "She'll just do it again if you approach her, except this time, permanently." Sbe didn't know the kind of person Queen Narina was. Only Narisia truly understood her mother, because Narisia was just the same as her. She and Shiro left then to go to their guest room, but not before Narisia secured the prisoner.

"Please, it hurts. Aya hurts." The Aine Imposter whimpered, bound in cuffs and locked in a cell. "Oh, did Itward do something?" Narisia gazed at her dispassionately. She nodded, looking quite pathetic. Why was a Rubble involved in this mess anyways? "Well, you could have avoided it if you simply answered the questions Itward asked of you." Oh well. She would know better for the next time once it was time to play interrogation with the Queen. So Narisia returned to her guest room with Shiro, laying on the bed. "It'll be okay, Shiro. I received father's permission to go out." So neither she nor Shiro would be punished for being out so late. She made sure to notify her mother she was out on official business as well, just to cover her tracks. "Get some sleep. If you're uncomfortable, you can spend a few hours on the bed with me if you'd like."

"Can I go play with my friends?" Little Narisia asked, her voice chipper and bright. "They're waiting for me outside the gate!" Her mother smiled, taking her by the hand. "I'm sorry love, but they aren't your friends. You're the princess of Ashia, they just want to take what you have." Her mother's grip was tight and loving. "No one loves you but me. Don't trust anyone but me." Narisia frowned. "But Itward and Aine are-" Mama smiled, kissing her on the forehead. "When have I ever lead you astray? All you have to do is trust me, the one who loves you most, dear."

When morning broke Narisia smelled something odd. "Shiro, is something wrong?" She asked, looking at her lady in waiting. She smelled a little, well, soiled. "If you have a problem, I expect you to keep me informed." A new set of clothes for both of them had been prepared and a little redhaired girl poked her head in. It was Nio Cherubim, was she acting as a maid? "Hello, Nio. Sing for us, it's been too long since I heard your singing." The little one had a talent for song after all, but Nio shook her head. Was she shy in front of Shiro? Suddenly Nio took Shiro's hand, wanting to take her somewhere else, a look of concern on her face. "Let us get changed first, then you can play with my servant." Narisia ordered, smoothing out her hair with her fingers.

Shiro was nervous of course, sleeping in the same room as the Princess would normally be considered indecent, but Shiro had to stay by her side. She would remain the night to make sure that the Princess was safe and stick by her side, which is what the Queen would want. If Shiro went astray, then she would be punished. She changed into pajamas that someone had set on the cot for her and went to the bathroom to clean out her diaper the best she could, it would just have to wait until tomorrow. Hopefully it wouldn't begin to smell in the meanwhile. "Goodnight Princess, don't be afraid to wake me during the night if you need anything," Shiro said as she tucked herself into bed, her tail wagging until she drifted off, thumb somehow ending up in her mouth as she slept.

"Shiro, come here!" One of the maids called out to her. She picked up the ball she was playing with in the garden and to meet the call. "What is it?" She asked, the maid's face a mere shadow. "The Queen is calling for you," she went stiff with fright. The Queen? Shiro had been living in the castle for as long as she could remember, but the Queen still intimidated her. "Yes, this way," the woman took Shiro's hand, they had all known this day would come, the day Shiro was finally old enough to begin her duties. She was small, never having been very big to begin with, but the day she was summoned by the Queen was one she had always been preparing for, both physically and mentally. Shiro clutched her ball as they neared the Queen's quarters.

"My Lady, she is here." The door opened, the Queen sitting on a velvet couch, wearing a dress that dripped with pearls. "Ah, there you are." Her smile was benevolent, but Shiro had seen her angry before, she knew that behind that smile were evil thoughts, bad thoughts. Shiro swallowed hard and curtsied, dropping her ball. "You must be Shiro," the Queen leaned forward. "Please, raise your head." Shiro braved a peek upwards, "from today on, you will be training to become my daughter's Lady in Waiting." She reached out a hand and Shiro braved a step closer, then another. The Queen's palm settled on her head, "so cute and small." She smiled, but it did not quite reach her eyes. "Let's ensure that never changes."

Shiro awoke to the sound of the Princess rising. Oh no! She had overslept, hadn't she? She expected her collar to shock her, she braced for it, then recalled that the Princess had-had it turned off. The first thing she noticed was the smell, the color draining from her face. "I-I apologize Princess for keeping this from you," Shiro hung her head, feeling slightly ashamed of herself. Nio came in then, with a change of clothing. Shiro took them gratefully, confused when Nio gestured for her to come with her. She looked between Nio and the Princess, but the Princess made the decision for her, Shiro would stay, because she served Narisia first. As soon as the door closed, Shiro's cheeks heated up with shame, her tail hanging between her legs.

"S-since that day I f-fell off the balcony, I haven't been able to feel when I need to use the restroom, so I've-" her cheeks turned even redder, if that was possible. "I've been wearing diapers and I didn't bring any spares b-because I didn't realize we were staying the night!" She bowed, wondering if the Princess would discharge her from service for being such a bad dog.

Shiro began making a fuss, talking about something or other. Was this a health issue? She was having difficulty sensing when she needed to use the bathroom ever since the Queen pushed her off. "It's not your fault that you were hurt, Shiro." Narisia said calmly, taking Shiro's hand into her own. "Next time there's an issue, please inform me so that I can be aware of your needs." After all, Nee had to make sure her internal tech wasn't glitching out or anything. Shiro was a valuable pet project of hers, it would be a waste to just let this opportunity die away. You needed to properly care for your projects after all.

After calling for Nio and retrieving a diaper from the oddly quiet girl, Narisia handed it to Shiro. "Clean yourself up and we'll get dressed." She gave a small little icy smile. "And you can help dress me as usual once you've taken care of yourself first." After both girls got ready for the day the ice princess made sure to page her father, King Azel, that she expected to return to the palace sometime after noon. It would take some time to get everything ready to get back home. Ever since she discovered her cousin here, everything only got more complicated. No doubt someone like Cress would try to do everything on her own and make a mess of Nee's own efforts to send her home safely. So Narisia, with Shiro, went out to the breakfast hall to face the music.

Heron was feeding the Aine Imposter breakfast, helping the trembling girl eat. What was she doing out of the chains anyways? "I'd appreciate you not treating my prisoner like that." Narisia said icily, staring at Heron. Wasn't it improper for an Ashian Knight to be so gentle to a rebel like the Aine Imposter? "She's not a prisoner, she's Aya, and she's got nothing to do with any of this, Nee." Heron's red flowing mane was bright and proud. "I-I - um - I don't know anything, so don't hurt Aya please." The girl, apparently called Aya, said with a shiver. "It'll be okay. I'll talk to Itward about what he did." Itward narrowed his eyes as Nio delivered food for everyone from the kitchen, her little feet scampering about the manor. "I was well within my rights as a noble of Ashia." He said defensively. "Rebels are dangerous, they have to be contained or else people will die."

Nee fully intended to bring this Aya girl in for further questioning. She was the link she needed to track down the rebels. Maybe if Nee got rid of the rebels she would earn her mother's favor. "I hope you're not letting Cress talk to my mother." She told Heron. Cress was probably still brushing her hair or doing her teeth or something. "There's a reason she was deleted from all the records." Cress would be in danger, did no one understand? "When I made my oath as a knight , I swore to protect the Princess." Heron said with a flashy grin. "I think that applies to both Princesses, wouldn't you say, Nee?"

Shiro fully expected the Princess to find her disgusting, she expected the Princess to be repulsed by her presence and wish for her to be discharged from service. Her head snapped up in surprise when the Princess said that it wasn't her fault. She looked down at again, squeezing her hands together. The Princess knew that it was her Mother who had done this, but even so, Shiro could never admit to it. To blame the Queen for her actions was like asking to be executed. "I-I will!" Shiro looked up again, cheeks still pink, but her tail wagging. It was clear she was happy, her tail completely giving her emotions away. "Thank you Princess," Shiro curtsied, her relief palbable. Shiro didn't know what she would have done if the Princess fired her, she couldn't survive out there on her own.

Shiro didn't know if she could even provide for herself. She didn't know where food came from, or how to prepare it. The only thing Shiro knew was her life in the castle. "Yes Princess!" Shiro bustled off to the bathroom to change herself once Nio delivered the diaper. She made sure to scrub herself clean so that there was no smell and used a bit of scented oil, just in case. Once she exited the bathroom, Shiro assisted the Princess in dressing herself and then the two made their way to breakfast. Shiro sat beside the Princess, a rare occasion where she and the Princess could sit together at the same table, considering Shiro was a guest in this household as well. It made her nervous, but Itward insisted that it was fine.

Heron was feeding their prisoner breakfast, which Shiro was fine with. "What if she was blackmailed into doing it?" Shiro asked quietly. "The rebels aren't above using those means." What if Aya too, was a victim? Then surely delivering her to be executed by the Queen would be morally wrong? Shiro couldn't answer for the Princess though and it was the Princess who was offended by Aya's impersonation of her friend. A girl Shiro did not recognized came downstairs, she had bright red eyes and short cropped hair. She took a seat next to Heron, scooting closer to the table. "You must feel much better without all of those modifications," Itward mentioned, bowing his head.

It dawned on Shiro who the girl was. The other Princess! This must be what she looked like without her disguise! Shiro's eyes sparkled, while Princess Narisia's eyes were cold and calculating the second Princess's eyes were warm and fiery. She had her Father's eyes, while Princess Narisia had her mother's. "Good morning Ellie," she said, taking a bite out of a piece of bread. Itward suddenly rose, as though taken aback. "You-you're the other rebel!" Despite his yelling, the other Princess seemed unperturbed. "Well, yeah? How the hell was I gonna get to my sister if I didn't manipulate those guys?" Of course, she had barely done any manipulating, but they didn't need to know that.

Right before Narisia's cold icy eyes was someone who was most definitely an enemy. How could anyone see a rebel like this Aya girl as anything but an enemy was beyond the Princess in any case. Yet Shiro was doing just that, she was giving hypotheticals that just maybe, Aya was not a willing participant in any of this. While it was nice to have someone who knew how to dress her, but it wouldn't do for that person to start coming up with silly reasons to pity the enemy. "It's okay, Shiro." Narisia told her lady in waiting without sparing her a glance. "You're kind, but don't let yourself get tricked by enemies, okay? It doesn't matter who Aya is, but she knows who the rebels are." That was reason enough to want her questioned.

As Itward looked very uncomfortable and as Nio brought everyone food with a glittering smile in her eyes, and they ate food to replenish their bellies with energy to last through the day, someone came walking down. Her hair was just as always, her sunkissed eyes like a warm fire on a cold day. This was no doubt just the same as the rabbit eared girl from last night. "Cress." Narisia said quietly, looking over at her. "Cress!" The fake Aine exclaimed, looking over at her with relief in her own eyes, a stupid look on her face. Narisia pinched her foot with her heel and drew a cry of pain from Aya before locking eyes with her cousin - or perhaps more accurately, her sister.

Cress was very much the other rebel who was there at the ball that night. "I think I like her more like this." Heron said with a grin, taking a drink out of her mug. "More of your natural charm shines through like this, don't you think?" Narisia sighed, rubbing her head as if she had an awful headache. "Just so you're aware, I had amnesia when I arrived on Earth. It was only returning home to Ashia that I remembered my real identity as Princess Narisia." For a moment her old self shined through, the still cold but not as robotic Ellie looked at her precious cousin. "...What we had on Earth was real too."

But still, this was business. "However, if you know who the rebels are, you'll have to tell us. If Aya won't say who they are, I hope you'll understand how important it is that we stop them." Heron grinned then, pulling Aya into her protectively. "Then you won't take Aya to the Queen, right?" She asked, her eyes flashing. "This little squid won't have any important information after we know who the rebels are!" Narisia sighed heavily. Did they really care about the fake Aine so much? Itward shared a similar face with her. "Fine. I won't touch her as long as I found out who they are."

Shiro sat back and looked at her lap, recalling that it was not her place to speak out of turn. "Yes Princess, I'm sorry." Shiro whispered, staring down at her plate. She had done something bad, hadn't she? She had spoken out of turn. It wasn't her place to mention things like whether or not Aya was actually a rebel. "It won't happen again," she picked up her fork, falling silent. Cress joined the fray, taking her seat beside Heron and next to Aya. Shiro watched her, she had none of the mannerisms of a Princess, placing both elbows on a able and running her finger around the rim of her glass of juice. She had no training, Shiro could tell, unlike Princess Narisia, whose posture was perfect and folded both hands elegantly in her lap. They were a stark contrast, fire and water. Not for the first itme, Shiro wondered where this Princess had been all of this time.

"With all due respect Ellie, I don't know what's real and what's not right now. That woman on earth isn't even my Mother." Cress's eyes were full of fire, Shiro swallowed hard, glancing at Princess Narisia. The second Princess sighed, leaning back against her seat, her arms crossed. "Sorry, I just... I want answers." It was clear she was confused, Shiro glanced back tentitively at the others. They all went back to speaking of Aya. Shiro's tail wagged tensely, wondering if they would truly let Aya go. "If giving you the information on the rebels will make you leave Aya alone, then I'll tell you." Cress replied, taking what Shiro thought was an angry bite out of her eggs. Was it possible to eat angrily? Shiro didn't know. "That's a good thing, Princess, right?" Shiro secretly hoped that Aya too, would get to go free.

"Promise me," Cress leaned back in her seat, she had finished off her food quickly. "I'll promise in the Princess's stead, since she cannot make such a vow." Itward said suddenly. "Give us the information you have on the rebels and Aya will go free. You have my word," Cress nodded, seemingly satisfied. Was it wrong that Shiro was glad that someone else was under extreme scrutiny for once? She was just glad they weren't looking at her. Cress took a long sip out of her juice, then at last started speaking. She told them everything, from the day she had gotten there, leading up to the ball, including the plan to befriend Heron and ask for her protection, then she confessed to getting drunk and confessing everything to Heron, who had promised to protect her before they-well-Heron covered Shiro's ears so she didn't know what that part was.

When Cress finished, she sat back in her chair and took another long sip of her juice. "That's a lot to take in," Itward had recorded the entire thing of course, so that he could listen to it later and review the information. "That's everything I know," Cress said at last. "I think you covered all your bases," Heron said shamelessly, patting Cress's shoulder. "Here, I'll get you more juice," she picked up Cress's cup and disappeared into the kitchen.

What kind of secret meeting was this anyways? This really was quite a dilemma. Seeing Itward and Heron not trying to kill each other for once was certainly interesting at least. Hopefully they would remain civil. Shiro apologized for giving her opinion and Narisia accepted the apology. She hadn't meant to be harsh, but whatever the case, Cress had come so there wasn't any more time to talk about anything else. The topic drifted to Aya and her fate. They needed to get answers out of her, but since Cress worked with the rebels too, it would be possible to get answers out of them instead. "D-don't torture her." Aya muttered frantically, shaking her head. "N-n-not like Aya. P-punish Aya instead of Cress." The way she shook like a leaf was pathetic. Why get involved with rebels if you're going to be so afraid of getting caught?

"She's a Princess, I couldn't torture her." Itward said with a dismissive frown, glowering at the Aine imposter. Both Narisia and Itward felt the same on the topic. Aine had been their dear friend, and while they were both at fault for her death, it was important to them that her memory wasn't disrespected like this. In the end Cress wanted Aya's freedom in exchange for the information they needed. Itward made the promise in her place and Aya seemed to let out a sigh of panicked relief with the promise that Cress wasn't going to be hurt. As if they would, Narisia wouldn't allow something like that to happen. With a deep breath Itward began recording and Cress began retelling the story of her life since coming here to Ashia, since being transported from Earth where Narisia had hoped she belonged.

Once it was done Narisia's eyes were like that of a frozen lake, glistening and frigid. She took Heron's hand into hers and smiled with the tension of ice cracking over the lake. "So it's true that you fornicated with the Princess, and my sister?" The rare protective side was coming out, perhaps it was a remnant left behind by Ellie when Nee's memories took over again. "H-hey, I didn't know at the time!" Heron was barely an adult herself though, eighteen years old with two years of Knight training. For some reason Aya looked angry, narrowing her eyes and glaring at the crimson knight. "In any case, run along, Aya. This talk isn't for a Rubble to hear-"

"No!" Suddenly Aya grabbed Cress's arm, clinging to it angrily, like a gnat or a moth. "A - Aya has to keep Cress safe from lechers!" She glared at Heron in particular. How could Cress have fallen in with such an irritating girl anyways? Heron stuck her tongue out and left then, getting juice. "Then I'll tell you about Mother." Cress needed to know just what they were dealing with. So Narisia told her sister all about how her mother refused to let her play with toys and dolls, refused to let her have friends, would beat her and punish her if she ever did anything that wasn't princess-like. "You can't trust anyone else. I'm the only one that loves you." She recited, recalling her mother's words. "No doubt she saw your eyes and disposed of you out of disgust." While Nee was carefully molded into the perfect little Heiress.

Shiro listened quietly, Princess Narisia was angry at Heron for sleeping with the Princess, but for some reason, Cress seemed even angrier. She slapped her hand against the table, the other on her hip. "It wouldn't have come to that if you had just listened to me at the ball!" Shiro meekly sat back, her gaze falling to her lap. She coudn't protect the Princess from this anger, but somehow, she couldn't help but feel as though it was partially her fault. After all, she had mistaken Cress for another servant, she hadn't intervened when the Princess brushed Cress off. Shiro squirmed, her tail drooping. Nio pat her arm, shaking her head. No doubt she felt the pain of it as well, thinking that you had failed your Master, even if it wasn't actually your fault.

Cress sank back down. For some reason, Aya too, seemed angry about Heron and Cress's fornication. "What if-" Shiro squeaked, then recalled it wasn't her place. They were already staring at her though, she cleared her throat, unable to look up from her lap. "What if Aya was trained as a lady in waiting?" She asked quietly, squirming. "This way Cress has more credibility as a Princess once she's presented before the Queen?" She glanced at the Princess, wondering if her idea was approved or not. "I'm not going to force Aya to do anything she doesn't want to. I just wanted to save her from her abusive home." Cress crossed her arms, leaning back in her seat. Heron returned with more juice and Cress took her glass gratefully.

Princess Narisia began to describe what the Queen was like, cold, unforgiving, strict. Shiro had seen all of these attributes in the Queen. Of course, she had also seen a side most others, fortunately, did not get to see. Her cruelty. "It doesn't surprirse me," Cress replied, "considering the way you act around here." It wasn't an insult, technically, but Shiro felt insulted in the Princess's stead. Still, she knew better to talk out of turn, even if her tail was now wagging angrily. "Either way, we have to prepare Princess Cress for meeting her," Itward said suddenly. It was clear that Cress was set on seeking answers. "I think it would be safest if she remained here, in my custody, where she can be trained as a proper Princess.

"I want to stay with Heron," Cress insisted, crossing her arms. Shiro glanced back at Princess Narisia, then at Itward, then at Heron, who was beaming and had put an arm around Cress's shoulder as though to gloat to the others. What was going to happen? Shiro had no say of course, but Cress would lose credibility if she stayed with a lowly knight like Heron in the dorms. "Um Princess, what about an apartment in the Untouchable Tier? Not Heron's, but her own?" If the Princess approved, Cress could live there until the Princess could figure out how to return her to earth.

Really, of all people to do it with, Cress chose that a skirt chasing Knight was the best choice for her? And Cress even had the gall to pin the blame for her poor choices on Narisia? The ice princess sat calmly, cold anger in her tone, her eyes clear and focused. "I couldn't just do that in front of my mother, in front of all the watching eyes." Did Cress not understand how dangerous the Untouchable Tier was? Did she not understand the threat yet? "You don't have to rebel by opening up your legs just because someone decided to pay you a few cheap compliments." Heron grinned, looking cheerful for some reason. "Hey, I put good work in those compliments! I meant them, they were very well deserved!" Narisia rolled her eyes. "You compliment every pretty girl you see. You even used to talk me up before I went to Earth." Heron snickered, her tall slender figure definitely one to behold. "Hey, you're still a looker now, but a bit doll-ish."

Shiro had an idea and Narisia bit the sigh back, knowing that her lady in waiting was a flighty creature that did as she pleased. She pitied the Aine imposter because she never knew the real Aine or how important she was. No one here did except for Narisia and Itward. They shared a glance as Shiro spoke, but Cress went and said that she didn't want Aya doing anything she didn't want to do. "Want to go home." Aya's voice was squeaky and pitched, her brief anger flare towards Heron dying down quickly. "Father's waiting for me at home." So she had a father then, but Cress was calling him abusive. "H-he's not abusive! It's parenting so that Aya stays good."

"Wait, is she being abused at home?" Heron asked Cress quizzically, putting an arm around her to show that she was welcome to stay at her place. No doubt the crimson knight just wanted to play more with Cress's body during nightly adventures. "If so, then as a proper knight I can't just sit and let that happen." Aya shook her head, a harsh stare coming off her emerald eyes. "N-no! It's not! M-Mr. Itward hurt Aya more than Father ever did." Her hands were shut tight, clenching nothing but palm. "Father is Aya's family. Can Aya go back now?" She looked imploringly, almost begging like a squid with no dignity or shame. "If she wants to leave, then there's no reason to stop her." Itward had already tortured her after all, and the well being of one rebel wasn't much of a concern to Narisia. She was irrelevant.

Shiro made another idea then, to have her own apartment in the Untouchable Tier. "There might be one available near the Liefthith estate." So Corren would be able to go and check on her to make sure she was safe and secure. "Hey, that's on the opposite side of town from me!" Heron yelped, shaking her head. "Yes, that is the idea." Narisia checked her holophone. It was noon now, she had to go back to the Palace soon if she didn't want to get in trouble.

Cress glared, it seemed that there was a lot she didn't agree with, but wasn't in a position to bargain. "Just because you've ascended to princess doesn't mean you have to act like a cold bitch Ellie." She rose, Shiro rising too. She stood in Cress's way, who clearly intended to leave. "Y-you should apologize." Shiro's tail swished nervously. There was a fire in Cress's eyes, one that Shiro was afraid would consume her. "Why?" Shiro swallowed hard, it was clear that she wasn't going to be able to calm things down, but it was her job to protect the princess and in Shiro's mind, that meant from verbal abuse as well. "B-because she's your sister! Sisters shouldn't fight!" Shiro had never had a sister, she had never had a family. She didn't know what it was like when siblings fought.

"P-please?" Shiro tried, her tail sagging, "at least sit back down?" She tried to bargain. "Fine," Cress angrily went back to her seat, sitting back down and crossing her arms. "See? That wasn't so hard." Shiro sat back down beside Princess Narisia and continued to eat her breakfast as though nothing happened. Of course, Shiro couldn't possibly imagine what was going through either Princess's mind. She didn't know what earth was like, but perhaps one day she would ask? Unless the Princess did not want ot speak of it ever again, then Shiro would not. "I agree that Cress would be safest away from my sister." Itward crossed his arms, leaning back in his seat.

Shiro too, knew that Heron would creep on any vulnerable prey. No doubt the second Princess had been feeling especially lonely when Heron intoxicated her. "I can assign guards to protect her, private security so the Queen won't get word of this. Tutors as well, if Princess Cress wants to go before hte Queen, she needs to prove her lineage. No offense," Cress shook her head. "Don't call me Princess," she mumbled, her nails digging into her arms. Heron leaned over, placing a hand on top of Cress's and peeling it away so that Cress wouldn't hurt herself. As though she were a small child and not a teenager. It was an oddly gentle gesture, it was clear that despite Heron's womanizing ways, she truly did care for Cress.

"Princess-" Shiro suddenly squeaked, noticing the time. "P-perhaps we should leave the rest to Itward and begin making our way back to the castle?" It was almost noon now, which meant that they would need to be getting back. Princess Narisia had permission to be out, but not this late and no doubt the Queen would begin to wonder where they had gone. Shiro glanced at Aya, the rebel, and wondered if the Princess would truly let her go or if she had simply said that to appease her supposed sister.
