Do not fear me

Dead, dead, their bodies piled up in the streets, their blood running into the gutters. Ashes drifted through the air, bodies nailed to crosses, hung from posts, bags over their heads. The lake had turned black, the odd finger popping up every once in a while. If they floated, they were a witch, if they drowned, they were human. The grave yards were crammed with stones full of grievances of young lives lost too soon. Accused of witch craft, died because of a witch's spell, killed in a witch hunt. There were so few of them left; the real spell keepers, guardians of the book.

99% of the time the accused perished.

The Town of Salem was once a quaint, sleepy, albeit religious settlement. Their people had no idea that right under their noses was one of the oldest covens in America, the Witches of Time. They welcomed everyone into their coven with open arms, men and women, frightened children, passing off as an alternative church that sat in the woods. On good terms with the church, the blood was not shed until the Black Plague reached Salem. The Coven was blamed, people lay dead in the streets, the smell of the sick and dying filled the air. Fingers were pointed at the witches, they were dragged out of their cozy streets and hung by the neck until dead. The people were not satisfied, the seed had been planted, the witch hunts had begun. No one was safe, especially not the familiars. They were burned by the dozens, an eternal fire in the square of Salem. Their ashes dusted the air in a sick snowfall, a black plague truly had been set upon the city.

I hate humans
────────────────────
The Witch Hunting ended the same way it began, with the Covens. Dozen of the magically gifted traveled to Salem to place a spell of peace upon the once sleepy town. They encircled it, casting their magic to make the people forget about magic, to realize the sins of their actions, and to ban the sanctioning of the outlandish trials. Their magic was successful in its cast, the people of Salem rest peacefully in their beds and the witches fled, taking their familiars and all traces of magic with them.

Pointed hats, brimstone, blood, and ash; these are the things wizards are made of.
To the woods they went, fleeing into the safety of natural world. Magical circles were drawn to keep outsiders out, runes used to propel them away from the settlements built into the trees and grass. Safely tucked away, the witches had closed themselves off from the world and thrived, building their own society and land with rules and strict regulations. They had schools and jobs, their lives sleepy and peaceful; they had grown content with their world and set in their ways.

At least, until the stranger came.

Blessed with the gift of magic, abandoned by everyone she loved, the stranger had stumbled into their village, allowed through the magical border thanks to her gift. Both a curse and a blessing in disguise, the villagers must rethink their very ways of life and confront the fears they had been harboring for generations; Outsiders.

You like rules? No? Well too bad, without these we would have a bunch of nonsense everywhere.

Commitment || I am looking for committed role players only. If you are bored and only seeking temporary relief and have no intention of sticking with the RP then don't reserve. If I know you to be someone who reserves with the intention of never finishing your character I will deny you a spot. Not publicly, but privately.

Face claims || Anime only please. Manga is fine, but no anime games or real face claims. If you need help finding a face claim then feel free to ask.

Content || This RP will have suggestive content including character deaths if you suddenly disappear. If you do not like these themes then do not join. Once more I will state if you have no intention of ever finishing your character or replying DO NOT JOIN.

Grammar || This is an advanced RP for literate humans only (I apologize to all the cats and robots but meow is not an acceptable response in a dramatic situation). I expect at least 400 words per post, please do not forget to proofread. Speaking of which if you have read this far please put a gif of your face claim when reserving your character.

Replies || You are expected to reply at least once a week. This is a really important rule. Why? Because that's how you keep an RP alive. If you can reply more then once a week then great! If not please inform me why otherwise you might come back and find your character accidentally got pushed off a building and didn't survive.

Password || And now for the moment you've all been waiting for, the glorious password! If you have read this far congratulations! The password is your favorite song in purple. If it's not in purple I will not accept it.

Skeleton || Will be posted in the OOC

Characters || Must be submitted within 48 hours, after that you have five, count 'em, five days to finish it or you will be banished. There are no assigned roles, I would like to try and keep an even amount of boys and girls. If you have any ideas for the RP or have certain expectations I'm all ears, I love to hear your feedback. Collaborations are an option as well, I'm literally always looking for ways to improve so if you have some suggestions feel free to post them!

Credit for rules goes to Masquerade (Skye) do not use without permission.

Zinnia did not want to say goodbye either, she had grown fond of their housemate, who lived in the converted storage room. Wing would be greatly missed, but as the saying went, all good things must come to an end. Thus, Zinnia gave a final wave as Wing exited through the portal. No doubt Flammel could sense it, the loss of his travel companion. He would not need anyone to explain what had happened to the time traveling witch. Zinnia turned towards Yue, awkwardly attempting to enrobe her in a hug. “I know you feel this is a great loss, but the future has gained a much needed witch.” She released Yue as the Elders moved towards them. Claris had been apprehended and Zolair had disappeared. Yuu held her in his arms, carrying her like a Princess. “I’ll take her to Madame Pomfrey to make sure she’s received no injuries,” Dean Eincrad nodded in ascent. “She should be in the University,” Salla and Darris were conjuring clothing to hide their shame. Whether or not they would still be Heads after this incident had yet to be determined.

“I am glad you hold no ill will towards her,” Zinnia spoke softly. She turned towards Yue as Autumn took Orie’s soul piece, witches could touch soul pieces of course, as they were neither demon nor human. She watched as Autumn placed the stone on the ground and tapped her wand against it. The art of reviving demon soul pieces was a closely guarded secret and passed down from one generation to the next. It was a spell Zinnia I’d not know and thus, she watched with rapt attention, lest she need to use the cast on her own familiar in the future. Orie’s body reappeared, similar to the demon she had previously been, but not quite there. She looked as though she were in between, her human body familiar, but the demon features obvious. “Orie will not have to be a familiar to live here,” as there was a law that any demon living within the magical city of Constantina had to have a Master. “Not unless she so wishes it.”

Zinnia pulled off her own robe, using it to cover Orie’s prone body. “Welcome back,” she spoke softly, beckoning Yue over. Blithe shifted uneasily behind them, wondering if she should have merely allowed Orie to lay in her final resting place. Had her soul piece been discovered, she may have merely been revived in the future against her will. At least, this way, she could live with the people she loved. Zinnia stepped back to allow Orie and Yue their reunion, feeling as though she had somehow intruded. Even if Zinnia and Yue loved one another, Orie was Yue’s soulmate and sister. There was an unbreakable bond that could live through time and space and Zinnia was happy for that. Blithe conjured new clothing for her Master, wrapping her arms around her. “Would you cry if I died Zin-Zin?” Blithe inquired, rocking back and forth, resting her chin on the short witche’s mixed color hair. “You’ve died twice already Blithe and both times I shed a tear.”

“How kind of you Master.”

~~~
With Zolair buried in the past, it was time to move forward to the future. Almost a week after, Claris had come to visit Zinnia’s home in the forest during school. Zinnia was no longer banned from magic and was happily stirring potions in her work room when the door opened. “H-hello?” Claris inquired nervously, her hand had turned permanently black from the use of dark magic; a scar that would follow her for the rest of her life. “Come in!” Zinnia called, wiping her hands on an apron. All of the windows in the home had been thrown open in an attempt to rid the house of the overwhelming smell of poppy seeds. “Oh Claris, it’s you. Blithe, would you mind putting up some tea?” Zinnia inquired, beckoning to the girl to come to the table. Claris shook her head, wringing her hands nervously on her school robes. “I won’t be here long,” Zinnia stood. Claris could not meet her eyes, “you protected me from the other students. Why?”
“Because we are not enemies Claris, you are a fellow witch.” Zinnia rustled through her supplies in a chest, taking something out wrapped in an dusty cloth. She placed it in Claris’s hand, the other witch unraveling the cloth to find a stone that glowed amber in the light of midday. “To ward away the bad spirits,” she smiled. “You seem to be plagued by them,” Claris’s hands shook as she placed the stone around her neck, “how can you tell?”
“Because I too, am steeped in demons of my own.”
Hollow’s Eve was in one week from now, Zinnia’s home was visited by a second guest shortly after the first had left. “Zinnia,” Ally entered, having made herself at home in Zinnia’s house. She settled on the couch, wearing robes of mauve that dusted the floor and high heeled shoes that seemed impractical in the mud of fall. “Alty, to what do I owe the pleasure?” Blithe had brewed the tea and brought it out on a silver tray. She placed the cups down, having prepared Zinnia’s to her specifications. “As you know, the festival is next week. I’m hoping it will be grandiose, as it will bolster the spirits of our townspeople.” Alty, one of the few remaining originals, was still not on good terms with Zinnia Evernight, but they were cordial enough that Zinnia felt no need to banish her from her home.
“Yes, I am well aware Alty. Blithe has been busy at work with our costumes,” which she refused to tell Zinnia about, merely letting her know that the costumes were being made. “Since you have become something of an icon in our humble village, I would very much like for you to attend the costume contest as a judge.” Her words were a purr, but somehow, Zinnia felt as though she was not asking. “Alright, I will accept. On the condition that Blithe and Rainarch can attend the festival as well,” naturally, familiars were not always the most welcome presence as witches were overly superstitious. “Alright, I will ascent to your request. The only payment I can offer is the unrelenting love of Constantina.” Zinnia, a humble witch who wished for no fame or fortune, had become something of a celebrity.
It was only natural, considering she was the daughter of the Elder’s, had defeated Asmodeus, rescued the mages from Seele, and cured the snow pox. Yue too, had been slowly growing in fame. Alty finished her tea and rose, a twinkle in her eye. “I do hope that this is the best Hollow’s Eve festival that Constantina has ever seen.”
Special Episode: The Glaive
It was in the dead of night that Doll made her excursion to the lower levels of the East Tower, a small care package in her arms. Normally, something like this was forbidden, but their new Director was allowing it, for the time being. Echo had yet to go on trial, it would be tomorrow when they would put her on the stand. “Echo?” Doll whispered, her sister laying facing the wall. The airlock hissed open and Doll stepped into the cell, sealed inside. Echo sat up slowly, sniffling; it was clear she had been crying. “I came to give you this, to make it a little more like home.” A certain stuffed bear sat atop the pile of belongings. “Why did you come?” Echo whispered, wiping her eyes. “Because I’m your sister,” but Doll had never been exactly fond of the littlest King. Melody had warned her of the signs of abuse, but Doll had looked away.
“Why did you kill him Echo?” Doll asked, setting the basket down.
“I didn’t mean to.”
“None of that, why did you do it?”
“Director LaFleur gave me a knife, she told me to do what I needed to.” There was a recorder in the basket, listening in on their conversation, not that Echo knew. “And what was it you needed to do?”
“Protect them.”
“And what did you do?”
“I-I killed them!” Echo wailed, her eyes red. “Alastair and Director Harway, I killed them! I didn’t mean to, but when I took the knife, all I could think about was driving it into them!” A cursed knife, that’s what the witch; Zinnia Evernight, had told her. “Echo, the allegations are serious this time. That’s the third human you’ve killed.” Her breath hitched in her throat, both sisters knew what this meant, of course. “I don’t want to die,” Echo whispered, choking on her tears. “You’re not going to die, I’ll make sure of that.” Doll stroked her head, distracting Echo long enough to turn off the recorder.
She really was a terrible big sister.
That conversation was supposed to be private, but Doll did as she said, she made sure that Echo was not put to death, instead, jailed indefinitely by Director LaFluer’s orders. She left the trial feeling sick to her stomach, she was a horrible older sister. “Why did you do that?” Silence asked softly, she knew of course, she was on guard duty that night. She was not meant to hear the conversation, “Echo is a danger to all humans,” Doll repeated numbly. Silence stepped forward, Prey clinging to her hand. “You don’t really believe that, do you?”
But Doll did not answer.
She sat in her room, the one she and Prey shared, wondering where she had gone wrong.
Silence sat on the roof, her glaive clutched against herself. She was still so small, this time being just after the Second Impact. She had not seen nor heard the footsteps behind her. “Hello there child,” a woman cloaked in black smiled. She had a scar down on her eye and held a stick in her hands. “Who are you?” Silence asked, rising to her feet. She had been contemplating what she would do if Prey ever turned against her. “That’s not important, but I need your stick, you see, it’s very important.” Silence was instantly on edge, “Director LaFluer told me not to give it to anyone, ever.” Her limbs stiffened, could Prey sense her distress?
“I’m here on LaFluer’s orders child,” the figure smiled, she muttered a few words, black snakes trailing from her stick. “What are you doing?!” Silence yelped in alarm as the snakes bound her, covering her mouth. Her eyes glowed, she dropped her Glaive, which rolled, the woman lifting it, admiring the weapon in the light. “I’m going to borrow this, don’t worry, I’ll return it eventually.” She pat Silence’s cheek, then disappeared into the night. Silence thrashed against her bindings, attempting to free herself. “Silence!” Prey yelled, Doll following behind her. “What happened?”
Doll sliced through the snake around her mouth, Silence coughed, slumping into Prey’s arms. “I lost it-“ she wretched, “the Glaive, that woman took it.”
“What woman?” Doll asked, kneeling down with a bottle of water.
“I-I think she was a witch.”
"Good girl." Yue said quietly, patting the baby's head. Baby Wing stared at her in confusion, tilting her head to the side. She was still barely conscious of the world, but wasn't she just so cute? Yue and Orie often spent time each weekend visiting the nursery to check up on the baby. Now that Orie was a demon, she wasn't sure if she was allowed back though. "Of course you're allowed back." The lady at the counter said with a smile. "Don't be a stranger. Wing loves her aunties very much, isn't that right, Wing?" Baby Wing made a strange sound that was probably supposed to be giggling. "Once I graduate I might adopt her." Would Zinnia be alright with taking care of a child, though? Would she be against it? "I'm sure Zinnia would love it." Orie said with a little grin.
Orie was brought back to life. Yue never had a choice in the matter but in the end, she would have made the same decision so it wasn't really a big deal to her. She wasn't a witch anymore, but it wasn't as if she had had much magic anyways. She was a demon, but retained more of her human qualities this time, the only sign of her being a demon, other than her demonic energy, was the red markings all over her arms, dark red lines decorating them like chalk. She was even given a job as Constantina's official Inventor, a role the Elders made up in order to give to her. Already Orie had plans on introducing more Magitech to the lives of Constantinans, this time intending to make something to help those who lacked sufficient mana. They were rare, but some mages are born with such small mana pools that they can't cast even simple spells without passing out."Let's go, Wing looks tired now and there's more we have to do today." They still needed costumes for Hallow's Eve, but they still had a week to figure something out.
On the way home they saw the Aurora Wand Shop. It was currently closed, but due to the house arrest order Yue knew someone was here. Yue knocked on the door and then Claris opened it after a few minutes, using magic to control a broom to dust the place. Ever since the incident at the school, it seemed Claris was the one suppressed by the potion. The Elders are doing research to figure out what went wrong in order to bring her back, but for the time being Zolair was permitted to continue existing, so long as he was supervised whenever he went out in public. "What do you want." Zolair muttered, crossing his arms. He was pacified for the time being, due to Zinnia and the Elders promising to help and protect Claris from now on. "Claris still isn't back if that's what you're asking."
"We're just checking up on you." Yue said, crossing her arms. She still didn't forgive him, but she understood where he came from. If it felt like all of Constantina was ganging up to hurt Orie, Yue might have done the same thing Zolair did. Minus the taking over body aspect, because obviously that much was impossible and also she had her own body which was perfectly fine. "Making sure you're not thinking of attacking people again." Orie was a bit more heated, which was understandable. She was killed by him, after all. "As long as you guys keep up your part of the bargain, I won't." Zolair said with a surly frown, shaking his head. "So find a way to wake her up already." Sir Flammel was trying to help too, of course, he was on his travels searching for a way to save both Ulrich and Claris now.
There was one more visit they had to make.
Because Yue was the Silver Witch and Orie was the Inventor, they were allowed into the access room, built into part of the Containment Tree, which was the closest thing Constantina had to a prison. Protea Zonenshine was brought out to see them. Zinnia's old friend would be spending time here. Of course, she was also given private lessons on magic in the hopes that she could regain some of her old mana that Zeal had stolen from her. "Oh, it's you two. I was hoping Zinnia would come visit." With Zeal gone, Protea seemed happier, more at peace with herself. She didn't mind serving time, she knew she deserved it for all the lives she stole.
"Here, give this a try." Orie passed Protea a small device that looked something like a metal musical note. "Is this the thing you said you'd make?" Protea asked curiously, looking at it. She didn't seem to really know what to do with it. "Yes. It's an artificial mana bank. Every day you can store some of your surplus mana, and the bank will keep it so you can cast spells from it. It's still a prototype version, so I want you to stockpile a week's worth of mana and we'll test it out." That meant by the time it was Hollow's Eve, Protea would get to see if she could cast spells again. "Remember, no violent spells. Some people still haven't forgiven you yet." It would take some time before Protea earned forgiveness for what she did. "Tell Zinnia to visit, I miss her." Protea said with a kind smile. "And thanks, I'll do my best to test your advice out."
With that done, they could finally return home. "Do you think you'll be allowed to be at the Hollow's Eve?" Yue asaked Orie as they neared Zinnia's house - which, really, was their home now too. "I don't know?" Orie shrugged helplessly. "I don't mind just staying in my room and tinkering with Magitech though." She wasn't a big party person, but even so, Yue wanted her to come. "Maybe we can ask the Elders to-" Then someone jumped on her right as they opened the door. "Welcome home!" Rain said with a big happy smile as she climbed onto Yue's face. "Zinnia, they're home!" The mist demon called, wagging her tail happily.
Glass shattered against the floor, blue liquid oozing from the vial. “Zinnia!” Blithe knelt beside her as the witch clutched her chest, breathing hard. “I-I’m fine Blithe,” her demon assisted her to her feet, her legs shaking. She carried her Master to the closest chair, “I incidentally ingested some of the weeping snipe’s poison. The antidote is on the shelf, just over-“ Blithe grabbed it before Zinnia could finish and uncorked it, pouring a droplet into Zinnia’s mouth. The witch breathed out a sigh of relief as the shaking ceased and the chest pain began to ebb. “How do you accidentally ingest poison?” Blithe’s eyes narrowed, as though Zinnia had been purposely testing her resistance. “The cauldron bubbled faster than I had expected and I was mumbling to myself,” Zinnia admitted, her cheeks flushed. Blithe sighed, an acceptable response. “I swear, you’re never careful enough in that room.” Zinnia shook her head, she had had it under control of course. Rainarch was asleep in the corner, looking like a cat the way she curled up in the sunlight.
“Don’t try to stand, I’ll go fetch some water.” The witch nodded in response and sank lower into the chair. She sat on her hands to make the shaking stop. She had noticed, in the last few days, that her feathers were growing larger. Perhaps it may have been time to visit Heaven to see what the King and Queen had to say. She did not trust angels as far as she could throw them, but there was some validity in Micheal’s desire for her to go see his parents. If her feathers were truly the same as his sister’s and his sister was currently missing, it could be a clue as to where she had gone. Zinnia rose abruptly, recalling something the demon Queen, Kitra had said during the haze of pain. “What is it?” Blithe inquired, “what’s wrong?” The witch did not reply, instead, she rushed to the shelf and withdrew the key. “We must go to Heaven,” Blithe stiffened, “I can’t.” She whispered, “demons aren’t welcome.” Amaterasu’s home was its own territory, she made her own rules, but Heaven proper was a different story.
“I will be fine Blithe,” Zinnia assured her, patting Blithe’s head. “If I’m not back by noon, then you may alert someone.” It was currently eight in the morning, the day starting as early as it always did in the Evernight household. “Fine,” Blithe pouted, “but don’t hesitate to summon me, or at least, try to.” Zinnia nodded and placed the key in the lock, turning it. She opened up the door, the light blinding. “I will return, don’t worry.” Zinnia smiled to reassure her and stepped into the light.
There were weapons surrounding her on all sides. “Don’t move!” A voice bellowed, something sharp sticking into her back. Zinnia did not cry out in pain as blood trickled from the cut. “Who are you? Who gave you that key?” A voice snapped, “I was under the impression that Micheal wanted to see me.” Zinnia replied curtly, “or at least, those were his words when he left the key.”
“Michi sent you?” One of the angels lowered his weapon, signaling to the others to do the same. “Please, pardon hesitance, Heaven is currently in a state of emergency.” Zinnia nodded, she did not hold it against them of course. “My name is Raphael, I am Michi’s younger brother,” she would have laughed at the childish nickname if not for how tense of a situation she was currently in. “Micheal told me that you were expecting me, it was quite a surprise that this was the welcome that was in waiting.” Raphael scratched the back of his head, “Michi isn’t here right now, but I’ll take you to his retainers.” She was marched from the door to the castle gates, where two other angels were waiting for her. “This way, quickly please, the Queen is expecting you.” Zinnia followed behind them, they did not offer their names, but she could sense the amount of power leaking off of them. She was overwhelmed by the amount of latent energy pouring out of the next room, the Queen’s chambers.
“Who goes there?” A voice bellowed, feminine and powerful. Zinnia would have thought to tremble had she not been there on important business. “My name is Zinnia Evernight, Micheal sent me here to see you.” She curtsied, aware of her potion stained robes. Zinnia had never felt self conscious before, the woman standing before her put all others to shame. She was beautiful in every sense of the word, from her immaculate hair coif, to the intricate lace on her dress. “Oh my,” the woman grew closer, closing the gap between them. “Celeste,” she looked at the feathers growing from Zinnia’s back. “These are my daughter’s,” Zinnia nodded. “Micheal said the same thing,” the Queen tensed, then slowly, wrapped her arms around Zinnia in a hug. “I apologize Ms. Evernight, there is nothing I can do for you,” the witch tensed at the contact, the hug was unbearably warm.
“I thought as much,” Zinnia whispered, she had not come here with high hopes. “If you stay here, I can have my scientists study your condition. We have some of the best technology in all of the realms,” Zinnia shook her head. “Thank you, but I’m afraid I cannot.” The Queen released her from the hug, holding Zinnia at an arm’s length. “In truth, I came to tell you something I overheard while I was being tortured in Hell.” The Queen tensed, she sat on a plush velveteen chair, her legs crossing. “Tell me,” the Queen beckoned someone forth to write down what Zinnia had heard, should they need to study the words later. “She said she was going to kidnap the youngest Princess and punish her to teach her the pain of her own people.” The Angel Queen’s expression grew dark. She rose, paced the floor thrice, then reached for something on her shelf. “Take this,” a book, bound in white leather with words in a language Zinnia had never seen before. “It is an ancient book, you are of pure blood, I can sense it. Puzzling this book out will be easy,” her smile was gentle, she gave no other hints as to what the book could be. “You should go now, I’m afraid I have a war room to consult.”
Zinnia stepped through the portal, the door closing behind her. Blithe and Rainarch pounced almost immediately, “Zinnia, you’re hurt!” She placed the book down, her expression quizzical. “Oh that? Yes, the angels were waiting for me.” Zinnia flipped through the pages, but this was not an alphabet she recognized. The witch winced when Blithe began to clean and bandage the wound. “What happened?” Rainarch demanded, floating on top of the table. “I had consult with the angel Queen, of course.” Zinnia closed the leather bound book and went to her own bookshelf, wondering if there was a clue. “She told me there was nothing she could do for me, but was grateful for the hint. She gave me this book as thanks,” time flowed differently in all of the realms, it was well past noon, but Blithe had not sent for her, no doubt fearing the wrath of Heaven.
“Zinny, if the angels couldn’t help you, what are you going to do?”
“I’m afraid I’m going to have to find a mermaid.” The door knob jiggled, Rainarch pounced to answer it, jumping onto her Master and Orie. “Welcome home,” Zinnia said, but it was clear she was distracted.
They made it home after the day out. Yue and Orie were beset upon by Rainarch, who was more than happy to pounce them. Blithe and Zinnia were here too, of course. "Take me next time, I'm tired of being cooped up!" Rain cried, inciting a smile from Yue who ruffled her dark hair. "Yes, we'll take you next time." She nuzzled noses with her precious familiar who scampered away to allow Zinnia and Blithe a chance to welcome the sisters home. Was there something wrong with Zinnia? She didn't seem energetic as usual, and she had a book with strange but almost familiar letters. Could it be some human language?
"Claris is still missing, but Zolair is being compliant with the Elders' orders for now." Yue told Zinnia after giving her a hug. "He's just cleaning up the shop for when Claris comes back." Orie added, frowning distinctly. Perhaps Zolair did kill her, but it was Claris's hatre dof her that allowed it. Because of that, the prodigy wasn't exactly sure how she felt about the wandmaker other than that she was an unfortunate victim of many things. "let's hope Flammel finds some way to bring Claris back." Last time they saw the Orange Wizard, he seemed lonely that Wing wasn't adventuring with him this time. Still, they had no choice but to accept that the Rainbow Witch was gone.
Protea Zonenshine was once Zinnia's friend and lover. No doubt Zinnia would care about an update on her situation as well. "Protea seems well behaved in prison." Yue gave Zinnia a half smile. "I guess she doesn't care about being in prison as long as she's free from Zeal." Orie rubbed at the red marks on her arms as she sat down, which burned and throbbed on occasion for no reason. "I gave her the prototype for the Mana Battery." Orie explained, her newest device would hopefully be a success. "If all goes well, she'll be able to use magic again soon."
With the updates over, Yue took Zinnia by the hand, grinning up at her. Why did Zinnia look so off? So distracted? The Silver Witch did not know. "Hollow's Eve is coming soon." Maybe a distraction was in order from whatever was on her love's mind. "Let's do something different. How about I choose your costume, and you choose mine?" Maybe it would spice things up a little!
Zane flashed a waning smile, it was clear that something was on her mind, the witch as easy to read as ever. She had previously been so closed off, unreadable, but now things were very different. "Rain seemed to be driving Blithe up the wall today." The two demons, while they enjoyed each other's company, also got on one another's nerves quite often. They worked well together, but when it came to bickering the two were similar to an old couple. "Yes, please take her with you." Blithe crossed her arms, giving a playful scowl as her tails swished in a rather sassy manner. Zinnia was glad that Yue and Rainarch had reconciled, the two clearly cherished one another and had a greater appreciation for their mutual presence.
"I thought as much, I don't expect Claris to return until she feels it is safe. Id o not think Zolair would injure or kill her," that was Zinnia's honest opinion. "She no doubt feels a great sense of embarrassment and loss in killing Orie." The student body had been dealt with appropriately of course, Dean Eincrad had seen to it that justice was served swiftly. It included community service hours and issuing an apology to the folk they had disrupted, of course while also seeing to it that Claris and her cousin were given the apology they deserved too. Mevia had left the University since then and had taken up an apprenticeship at the tailor, deciding that a future career in studying magic was not for her.
"I take it she requested to see me once more?" Zinnia sighed, perhaps it was about time she grant that request. It would be cruel to stay away due to past fights. She owed Protea that much. "Perhaps next time you visit, I will go with you. I do hope the mana battery works," It would be a crying shame if Protea lost her magic because of Zeal. Blithe's expression darkened, "What if her power attracts him again?" Of course, with a general dying, it meant that Blithe's rank had been moved upwards. Unless of course, Zeal was not dead and was still out there. It almost seemed as though the generals were desperate to have Blithe back.
Yue suddenly took Zinnia's hand, her mind had been wandering again. "Yes, nearly one week's time." Zinnia wore a thinly veiled smile, she had been assisting in preparations of course, when she wasn't studying how to possibly fix herself. She blinked at Yue's suggestion, Blithe had already begun preparing costumes, but Zinnia was sure that the demon would not mind a spot of fun. "Alright," Zinnia agreed with a nod. "But we cannot reveal the choices until the costume on Hallow's Eve." Blithe frowned, then a sneaky grin grew on her lips. "Honestly I never thought my Master of all people would agree to something so scandalous!"
Yue and Zinnia made their deal - they would choose each other's costumes for Hallow's Eve. With that, it was time for school again the next day. At the end of this school week, the party would be hosted. Kissing Zinnia and telling Rain to be good and assist Orie, Yue set off for school. Ever since the Zolair Incident, the University has been more peaceful, yet more vigilent at the same time. Wracked with guilt at their inaction as Heads, Head Boy Darris and Head Girl Salla were being much more serious in their duties now. "Dueling Club, I want you all to be fighters for justice." Salla said to the club. Those who took place in the bullying and drugging of Claris were kicked out of the club, so the numbers were a lot smaller now.
"I think I need to take part in club activities more often." Yue said with a frown, rolling her eyes. While she learned lots of combat tricks from Salla, the rest of the club wasn't really that strong. Salla was doing her best to teach them, though, even if the numbers had gotten small. "That would be very helpful, thank you." Salla said with a small smile. "Just do better, okay? Zinnia didn't give you the headship for no reason." She looked ashamed of herself, her cheeks almost as red as the hair on her head. "I know. And I'm going to do better. Even if I was hurt by her father, I have to stay strong and be someone who serves justice."
With Wing gone, school had changed a lot. Yue ended up making some friends, she got closer to Salla as Salla is the president of the Dueling Club. She also gained a bit of a rival in Errol and the two competed now to see who would be first in their class for second years. Lumiere was making efforts to talk more with her too. But despite all of this, no one really was ever as close to her as Wing was. "It's not the same without you." Yue said, looking mournfully at Wing's empty seat, which had a vase of flowers on the desk for remembrance. As much as she liked to act tough and not show Zinnia her grief, Yue was in mourning, and nothing was going to change that. She just needed time.
So after a dreary day at school, Yue was ready to return home. "Let's go. Yuu's joining us for dinner tonight too." Orie said at the University gates, since she wasn't allowed inside. "It's hard, isn't it. But chin up, with time, you'll be okay." Yue had her sister, she had her lover, and even her familiar. Even without Wing, she'd have to make it somehow.
Their deal was sealed with a kiss, one perhaps, full of mischievous promises. "What are you going to pick for her?" Blithe inquired later that evening, while Zinnia was undergoing preparation for bed. "I'm not sure yet, but it will come to me by tomorrow I'm certain." Zinnia brushed her white and red hair and settled in bed. Blithe lay down beside her, the witch drifting off to sleep as Blithe stood guard, Zinnia whimpering every so often, as her sleep was most always plagued by nightmares. When morning came, Blithe prepared the bath and Zinnia awoke after Yue had already gone to school. "Blithe," Zinnia sat up in bed, feeling sick to her stomach. "What is it?" Her familiar rushed to her side, Zinnia leaned over the side of the bed and vomited, Amaterasu's ring coming up. It clinked against the ground, still sparkling despite having sat in her stomach this entire time.
"Better?" Blithe asked, wrinkling her nose. Zinnia nodded and lay back against the pillows. "I'm surprised you've had this in you for so long," Blithe murmured, using a pair of tweezers to lift it out. "I am as well, don't worry, I'll clean it." But her familiar was already on the case, using blue fire to burn it up. Zinnia slid out of bed on unsteady legs and settled into the bath. "I've decided on Yue's costume," Zinnia's smile was sneaky. "What will it be?" Blithe asked, sitting on the side of the claw foot tub. The door to the bathroom opened, Orie and Rainarch entering, as though they sensed that there was gossip afoot. "A fairy," Orie snickered, as though she knew that Yue would be distinctly uncomfortable with that.
"Ooh, you're gonna love what she picked for you," Orie sing songed, although whether Yue actually picked something yet was beyond her. "I think I shall go visit Protea today," Zinnia rose and wrapped herself in a warm towel. "I guess we'll do the shopping then, time to go to market!" Blithe cheered, rarely getting a chance to run errands alone. "I'm coming!" Rainarch remarked, "I'll tag along to," Blithe sighed, having wanted some time to herself, which was rare these days. Zinnia dressed and left her house in the woods, taking the path to the prison where Protea was kept, or as much of a prison as a tree could be. The guard at the gate greeted her, confused as to why she had come to visit a prisoner. "An old friend," Zinnia explained with a wave of a hand.
Protea was sitting on the floor of her cell, toying with the battery that Orie had given her. "Hello Protea," Zinnia stood in front of the bars, the other girl looking up in surprise. "It's about time, I thought you'd never come," she quipped in reply. "I had no reason to," Zinnia's wings fluttered. "Of course, because you have her now." Her being Yue of course. "You can't possibly be jealous Protea, we were children-"
"And what if I am? We made a promise didn't we?"
Zinnia reached through the bars, touching Protea's cheek. "What we had was special, but it is a lost cause. If the only reason you wanted to see me was to debate your one sided love, then I will be going." Protea's hands shook, she smacked Zinnia's arm away, tears stinging her eyes. "Don't be bitter, you will find someone, someday." Zinnia turned, prepared to leave. "Wait," Protea whispered, "mermaid tears, I know where to get them."
"Oh?"
"A place in the human realm-"
"I've wiped my hands of that side of the barrier Protea, but thank you."
It was now Friday. Tomorrow night would be Hallow's Eve and everyone would be there. Orie was given special permission to attend due to her being a special case demon and not a naturally born demon. As an honorary witch, she was going to get to be at the festival as well. Regardless of that, today was a special day for the second years. Those who signed up for the field trip were put into a hat and ten of them were randomly chosen to get to attend the Field Trip. "Through here." Sir Flammel said, leading them to a corner of Constantina. "This will take us to a very special Pocket Dimension." Yue looked over at the others - the only other name she knew was Errol, who had also been randomly chosen.
"I know!" Errol raised his hand, looking eager. "It's the R-" Flammel grinned and tapped his head. "Shh, let's let it be a surprise. Alright, one at a time now, kids." One at a time the children stepped through the veil, finding themselves at a strange river that floated in the night space sky. The river itself didn't even look like water, it was almost green, and seemed much softer and lighter than water was. "Welcome to the Oolong River Dimension." Flammel said with a dramatic wave of his arm. Errol's eyes were like stars and Yue wondered how many times Wing went through here. "Unlike Constantina or Empyrea, Oolong River is a transit dimension. Transit pockets exist to connect to many other dimensions. For example, riding down the river three stops will take us to where the Sahara Pocket Dimension used to be."
It was kind of overwhelming to look at. The Oolong River was almost like a roller coaster rail that floated in the middle of a starry void. There were points at various parts in the labyrinthine loop that looked almost like stations, each one with leaves you ride almost like a boat. "Do you think there's the cure for Ulrich and Claris out there somewhere in one of these hundreds of pockets?" Yue asked Flammel quietly, wondering if it was safe to hope. The others couldn't overhear of course, they were busy ooohing and aaahing at the sights. "That's what we're hoping for." Sir Flammel said, looking grim. "Once I find one that might lead us to Ogygia, I'll invite you and Zinnia and some others to travel with us through the river."
The first stop down, which Sir Flammel took them to, was, coincidentally, the Preloma Pocket Dimension. It was an abandoned Japanese-style sea of pink flowers and pink water, and it was odd being back here again. "You can look around, but be careful of what you may touch." Here Orie met Urlot, didn't she? Yue felt lonely being here again, while the others who came here with her were back at home in Constantina. She was mostly sad and bored during the excursion, but at least the others had fun. "Cheer up. Wing wouldn't want you to be sad." Flammel told her gently, touching her on the shoulder. "I can't really control that though." Yue said defensively, crossing her arms.
"Where do you think you're going?" Zinnia stiffened, "you're running a fever and you've got to be judge tomorrow at the costume contest, you aren't going anywhere." Alty crossed her arms, her expression well, cross. Zinnia's cheeks were flushed and her wings were itching her. She had been attempting to sneak out of her room through the open window and go somewhere, where Alty wasn't. "I was simply trying to add some light to the room," Zinnia lied, feeling awfully dizzy. Alty grasped her by the elbow and guided her back to bed, Blithe and Rainarch watching, slightly amused from the doorway. No one had ever been able to boss Zinnia around, but feverish, she seemed almost meek. Zinnia crawled back onto the mattress, leaning against the pile of pillows.
"You stay here, I'm going to make soup and an elixir to bring your fever down. Of all the times to get sick, the day before Hallow's Eve!" Alty turned towards Blithe and pointed a finger at her, "make sure Zinnia does not get out of bed." Blithe nodded and bustled forward, rolling her sleeves up. "And you," Rainarch jumped to attention. "Get a bucket of cold water and a towel," the witch groaned internally from the bed. "What are you doing here Althea?" Zinnia inquired, turning onto her side and regretting the small movement as it sent waves of nausea through her. "I came to make sure you were ready for tomorrow and I found you in this sorry state." Zinnia would have rolled her eyes had she the energy. "It's merely a cold."
"Yes, well, according to the other's you've always been particularly susceptible to these sorts of things," Protea too, had easily caught human borne illnesses. "I cannot believe, of all the time's to become ill, the day before Hallow's Eve," Zinnia murmured. "Yes, well, you've never had the best timing." Blithe brushed Zinnia's hair out of her face. Zinnia felt wretched, she wanted to merely drift off to sleep but Alty would not let her. She insisted on making Zinnia eat soup and drink potions to try and rid herself of the cold faster, or at least mask the symptoms. "I simply need some rest," Zinnia shook her head, feeling dizzy. She lay back against the pillows once more, closing her eyes and welcoming the darkness.
When she awoke once more, the afternoon cicadas of fall were abuzz. The sunlight filtered in gently, it seemed all of those foul tasting potions Alty had concocted had worked somewhat. "Look who's up!" Blithe chirped, offering Zinnia a cup of tea, which the witch drank gratefully, her throat dreadfully dry. "Is Althea still here?" Blithe shook her head, "she left after cleaning the house from top to bottom. It seems she isn't as fond of spiders and mice as you are," Zinnia scowled. Why would that dreadful original not leave her alone? Her wings twitched with annoyance. "Yue will be back from school soon, Orie went to pick her up." Blithe put in helpfully, Zinnia slid out of bed and put on her apron. "I'll garden in the meantime, I suppose." She murmured, going to the green house barefoot in her nightgown.
The trip to the Oolong River Dimension was interesting and Yue was already wondering what other kind of worlds the river might connect to, should they try to explore it and see what was out there. As the students on the field trip with Sir Flammel returned to the school to pick up their things, Flammel waved them off, seeming almost nostalgic. "Ogygia might be out there somewhere." There were two known ways to reach the Isle of the Mermaids. The first was to travel by sea and search somewhere in the Atlantic, rumors saying that perhaps if you found where Atlantis was said to have fallen, you could find it. The other way was to find the right path through the Oolong River Dimension and hope you get lucky.
"How was school today?" Orie asked, waiting patiently at the front gate. Yue gave her a wave and stepped more quickly to reach her. "Did you get the costume like I asked?" Orie gave a sneaky grin and nodded, eyes twinkling. Orie was to go out and get the costume meant for Zinnia today. "I made the order, the tailor should have it ready for us. Let's go get it." Yue nodded, following Orie through the jumbled streets of Constantina as students returned to their homes or to their workplaces after the school day. It was the weekend now, everyone's favorite time. Inside a tree on the west side of town, they entered the store.
A familiar girl looked up at them with an awkward smile, waving her hand. "Hi and welcome to Mondems." Mevia said, the precious little thing seeming more comfortable here than ever at school. The Aurora girls wouldn't get hurt anymore, Yue would make sure of it. "Is Mondem not here today?" Yue asked, looking around. Mevia glanced tot he back room and shook her head. "Um, Master's in creative mode today. The-the costume you requested is ready though, O-Orie." She shuffled through the shelves and pulled out the dress. Yue's eyes widened when saw it. "I, um, I worked on it a little, I helped with the seams." Mevia beamed, clearly proud of herself. "You did good, thank you." Orie paid the price on the bill and held the costume close to her.
Yue giggled, casting a spell to send the dress to her room. "So what made you decide on that?" Orie asked, tilting her head to the side. "It's the dress of the lost Vampire Princess. It's what Riven Seylum used to wear before she disappeared." Black with long sleeves, trails on the back with white frills, it was a great dress. "Zinnia's going to look great wearing this." They opened the door, making their way back home. Rain limped over to the door, wiggling, then she sneezed because she caught a demon cold. "Yellow." Rain said with an inviting wriggle. "The package arrived safe n' sound! Yay!"
After giving Rain a good petting session, Yue went to find Zinnia, giving her a hug. "I hope you're feeling better for the Hallow's Eve festival tomorrow." She told her, knowing Zinnia was feeling under the weather lately. "Get ready for the costume exchange tomorrow morning! Don't forget, okay?"
Zinnia looked up when the door to the green house opened, Yue coming in to give her a hug. "Hello," Zinnia wiped her hands on her apron, still wearing her nightgown underneath. "Yes, I'm feeling much better," she replied, having brewed her own potion to rid herself of the cold completely. "I have not forgotten," Zinnia shook her head, smiling. "The costume is ready," custom made just for Yue. Zinnia had Blithe pick it up this morning, between the ordeal with Althea. Blithe watched them from inside the house, preparing dinner. "I'm worried," she admitted quietly to Orie and Rainarch. "Since the whole... kidnapped and tortured in Hell thing, Zinnia hasn't been herself." Blithe stirred the pot of soup, a bit distracted. "I mean, it makes sense," Orie shrugged, playing with a piece of tech on the table. "Her whole body was changed, she and Yue sort of broke up, Zinnia had to save everyone. It all happened within a short amount of time. Probably hasn't had any real time to process it."
Was that all it was? Blithe hoped so, but she couldn't help but stay by Zinnia's side as she slept, troubled by nightmares until dawn. Blithe had nodded off for a fraction of a moment and when she awoke, her eyes blurry, Zinnia was perched on the open windowsill. Zinnia wasn't sure what had prompted her to climb up there, her wings spread in the early morning sunlight. "Zinny?" Zinnia was transfixed on the clouds in the sky, her eyes glassy. "Zinnia-" Blithe grabbed her nightgown as she stepped off of the windowsill and pulled her back inside. Zinnia blinked slowly, wondering what had just happened. "What were you thinking- you can't fly with those! You could have died!" The glassiness in her eyes began to clear and she sat up slowly, clutching her head. "Why did you do that?"
"I can't quite recall, it was as though my body was no longer my own." Zinnia spoke softly, hugging herself. "Zinny, is there something you want to talk about?" Hopefully their screaming had not awoken the whole house. "No, it's nothing," the witch looked away, but Blithe knew better. Zinnia did not want to burden Blithe with her thoughts. "I can see right through you, you know. You can't keep secrets from me," Blithe took her Master's hands and gently turned them over to look at her palms, crimson spilling out of little red moons where her nails had dug into her skin. "You big idiot," Blithe murmured, hugging Zinnia against her. "Just tell me when you're hurting."
"I can't."
"Why not?"
"This body is no longer my own, Blithe. I am... infected."
"That's stupid, you're your own person."
"Someone, or something is in my head Blithe."
"Do you want me to call Madame Pomfrey?"
"No! No, tonight is Hallow's Eve, let's not bother her today." Zinnia rose, heading towards the restroom, the last thing she needed was for the Elders to confine her to her home again. No, she was to appear tonight as a judge for the costume contest. Zinnia was not quite sure what was happening to her. At first, she thought, it was merely the wings. She was adjusting, she felt off kilter. Then slowly, she realized that her body was responding to someone else's commands in her sleep. She had checked herself for enchantments or binding marks, but nothing of the sort marked her body. Was it trauma? Sleep walking? Zinnia was not sure, but she did not want to share these thoughts with anyone.
After her bath Zinnia dressed and brushed her hair, splitting its two colors down the middle. Staring at her reflection was still a bit jolting. White and red, blue and purple. Not a witch or an angel, but something in between. With a sigh, Zinnia rubbed lotion on her skin and grabbed the garment bag for her and Yue's exchange. "Ready for the big reveal?" Zinnia inquired.
The bodies all danced in a throng as the music beat, a tribal, ferocious tune, yet somehow whimsical as well. It was Hallow's Eve, and everyone was in costume, dressed up as the magical creatures around them, a banquet of mana for the witches and wizards of Contantina. Yue purposely did not look down at her own costume as she gazed about the vision. She was a bit dizzy - likely she had ingested some Sunshine - a magical alcohol variant of moonshine - and was slightly drunk as she too, followed the dance. Mevia was dancing with Zolair, who had been allowed out for this night, Protea was given leave to watch the proceedings, though with Yuu guarding her to ensure she didn't escape and cause more trouble.
"How's it going?" Protea asked her as Yue dizzily stumbled over to her. "Hey, drink some water, can someone get her water?" Yuu was quick to hand the water over, shaking his head with an amused smile. "What are you doing?" He laughed as Yue struggled to gulp down the water, the liquid clearing her head somewhat from the frantic spinning. "Don't you want to go dance with Zinnia? She's probably somewhere in the middle over there." Yue glanced over, shaking. "I got separated from her, I'll try to find her." Protea smiled, tapping her head. "Don't be lost too long, silly. You should be with your lover, not wandering around like a drunk." It was odd how Protea had accepted her. Ever since losing Zeal, the Saharan Witch never once held ill will for Yue. She had gracefully lost and had moved on from Zinnia now - likely since the day Zinnia came to visit her at the prison.
Where was Zinnia? Why couldn't Yue find her? Something was wrong? "Maybe Orie knows?" Yue looked over to where she saw Orie last, tinkering with something at a table rather than dancing, but Orie wasn't there either. Where was everyone? Yue felt a dull pain in her arm then, almost like an injection. She turned around sluggishly, swiping at nothing. "Wait, who-" Something covered her head and then everything went black.
Yue awoke abruptly, a cold chill running down her spine. She could hear faint noises from Zinnia and Blithe but she would let them at it. Rain looked at her with a worried expression, having taken off the mask. "Take it easy." Rain said softly, holding her hand. "What did you see?" Yue grit her teeth, knowing something was going to badly. "I think someone's kidnapping people." She shivered, anger rising in her chest. Zinnia was already fragile enough, she would shatter if she was kidnapped again! "I have to stop it..." Rain piped up, puffing out her chest. "I'll let Blithe know! We'll sneak in and protect you guys, just you wait, Master!"
After brushing her teeth and washing her face, Yue met Zinnia, the costume in her arms, ready. "Hey, love. Here, I'm ready. This is yours." She waited for Zinnia to open the bag to reveal the costume she and Orie had ordered from Mondens. The dress was modeled after old paintings of the lost vampire princess, Riven Seylum, and what she was said to wear while under King Seylum's orders. "I thought this would look really good on you, so we got this costume for you!" Yue beamed, trying to shake off the horrid vision of last night. With that, she decided to take her turn and open her bag, wondering what she'd find.
"Good morning," Zinnia took the bag and lifted up Yue's handing it to her. Inside, as promised, was the fairy costume. "I picked this out because I thought bright colors would be a pleasant change." Yue's wardrobe was comprised of dark colored robes, which was fine, but Zinnia wanted to see Yue wear something a bit more lighthearted. The witch looked inside of the garment bag, her eyes widening. Then, unexpectedly, she laughed. A rare sound from the witch that almost seemed emotionless at times. "I suppose you've reached that chapter in the History of Magic then?" Of course Zinnia knew of Riven Seylum, the name struck fear into the hearts of many. To young witches, however, she was more of a story meant to keep mages in line.
Zinnia stripped right there in the living room, not minding of course because they had all already seen her in the nude. She pulled the costume on, Blithe coming over to tie it in the back. "Well? How does it look?" Zinnia inquired, turning in a slow circle for them to see. "I think it looks good!" Blithe giggled, it was nice to see Zinnia acting her age rather than as the mature witch she pretended to be all the time. "Mumino," Zinnia cast, an enchanted mirror appearing to show her, her reflection. "I have to admit Yue, it looks good." Zinnia smiled as the mirror dissipated. The festivities went on all day for Hallow's Eve, until late in the evening when the costume contest and dancing was held in the town square, a mana feast for all.
It was nice, to wear a costume, to put aside her worries, even if it was only for a day and pretend to be a normal witch once more. What had she been doing this time last year? Zinnia couldn't even remember, it had been such a whirlwind. Was that when Acacia had spirited her away to the human realm? Using Zinnia's body for her own pleasure. Or maybe that was when Zinnia and Yue had been taken by the demons? In any case, this small amount of peace was pleasant. "We should eat breakfast and make our way to Market, I am most certain that Alty is having a fit by now." Still, she did not mind making them wait. Zinnia had not been out in public for a very long time. Her house arrest had only been lifted the day Claris went missing and Zolair appeared. Zinnia had not ventured out after that.
In a sense, it was almost like she was making her debut. She was nervous of course, as one might be when they had been away from home for so long that they began to forget what it was like. What would people say when they saw her? Her two toned hair, the wings on her back. Surely they would stare. Even among the costumed and masked, Zinnia would still stand out. Zinnia sat at the table, smoothing down the creases in her skirt. It was a meticulously crafted costume and Zinnia could only imagine the amount of time Mevia had put into making it.
Yue grinned as she saw the costume. "Uhhh..." She was a bit hesitant. Wasn't she always in dull dark colors? They were what was most comfortable for her. These colors were so bright, the wings too, while cute, wasn't this so much more something Zinnia would wear? "Okay, I'll do it!" Zinnia bravely revealed herself to them all and so Yue pouted, deciding to do the same. Flammel removed her old scars from her old life, but Yue had new scars now from her various fights as a witch, particularly from when she was dissected by Seele in the attempt to create Baron Ziel. She put the costume on, even affixing the wings onto her back, finding the weight of the wings to be slightly uncomfortable but okay.
Zinnia looked just as adorable as Yue expected wearing Riven Seylum's costume. Zinnia asked how she looked, so Yue decided to approach and give her a kiss right on the lips, hand on Zinnia's waist, tongue intertwining with Zinnia's own. After a brief moment, Yue released her, lust clear in her eyes. "That should answer your question, shouldn't it?" She blushed a little when Zinnia said that she, too, was cute. "Not as cute as you, love." Yue assured her, stroking her hair. They were both dressed and ready to go, a fairy and a vampire princess to wreck havoc on the streets.
Rain was telling Blithe, but Yue needed Zinnia to know too. "I had a vision last night." Yue was, after all, the new Official Diviner of Constantina. Even after she graduated, she would take that as her profession most likely. Once she graduated she would be paid for her reports to the Elders, and would have to make regular reports for the safety of Constantina. "Something happens during the dance portion of the festival, Zinnia." A dark expression appeared on her face as they left the house. "You disappeared, and then Orie did, and then I think I was attacked too. There'll be enemies hidden in the crowd... so Zinny, we'll have to stick together, okay?" Zinnia was always being targeted, but Yue would protect her.
They made their way to Little Cup and Yue ordered breakfast. Yue had baked fish strips on a stick, and it tasted odd but fun at the same time. She didn't regret the decision. Already others were in costume too, ready to enjoy a good Hallow's Eve Festival. "You don't have to worry about how you look." Yue told Zinnia with a quiet nod, knowing how Zinnia was unhappy with how she looked now. "I love you no matter how you look. And everyone cares about you just the same." She held Zinnia's hand and squeezed it, hoping her feelings would get through to silly Zinny. "I'm sure your fanclub's missed you." Yue added with a wry grin.
Zinnia blushed as she and Yue parted, a thread of spittle running between them. Blithe cleared her throat, "Get a room you two!" Rainarch yelled teasingly, the two of them not allowed to go to the Hallow's Eve celebration. "A vision?" Zinnia stopped in the doorway, her brow furrowing. "Should we remain home then?" Zinnia could always tell Alty that she was still under the weather and remain home, but it seemed that Yue wanted to go despite the vision. "Alright," it seemed that the visionary had realized that she could not change the future, Zinnia only hoped that whoever it was that was targeting them could be put down easily. "We should warn the Elders," they would have to put the Guardians on alert of course. If someone attempted to ruin their Hallow's Eve, there would be hell to pay. "Yes, let's stay beside one another."
They arrived at Little Cup without incident. Zinnia sat across from Yue, the two of them mercifully alone. The cafe wasn't busy this morning, but the dwarf serving them was preparing for a large crowd later in the evening. Zinnia ordered hot cakes and maple syrup, eating slowly to relish the taste. It wasn't often she got to have cake for breakfast, after all. They mainly cooked using the vegetables in the garden as well as meat and fish every so often. "Were my thoughts that obvious? Or perhaps your occlumency is getting better?" Zinnia inquired, her smile questioning as she took a bite out of her breakfast. "It just feels... strange. Their eyes used to be on me because of the chair and now... I think I would rather the chair."
Her smile was small when Yue mentioned the fan club. "They must have their hands full, what with the preparations for the costume contest and all." The bell on the door rang, "There you are." Althea placed her hands on her hips, her brow furrowed. "We've been looking everywhere for you, I went to your home, but no one was there." Althea turned towards Yue, "You were volunteered for one of the booths tonight, as the fortune teller." Her smile was genuine, unlike when she spoke to Zinnia, where her lips were always pressed together in a thin line. "You will have your own table of course, we would like for you to practice common fortune telling tricks, surely you've learned those from Forester?" That was another thing about witches, one that Zinnia had never informed or warned Yue of.
They could have no tact sometimes. Especially the Elders, who seemed to always get straight to the point. Thankfully the newer generation had a bit more manners. "Yue can refuse the offer of course," Zinnia said pointedly, in case Althea attempted to pressure Yue into doing something she did not want to. "This is Yue's first Hallow's Eve celebration, after all. It would be a shame if she was confined to a table for the entirety of it." Zinnia sipped at her tea, well aware of the glare she was receiving and paying it no mind. "Of course, you are free to move about the celebration as you'd like. The Party Comity only thought it would be nice for Constantina's official Seer to participate."
Little Cup would always be their staple place to go and eat, whether it be breakfast or lunches, Yue had grown used to the place and liked the food the dwarf always made for them. Zinnia wondered how Yue knew about her insecurities. "Well, since Wing is gone, I figured I may as well focus on getting better at Occlumency." Yue said bashfully, twirling a finger in her hair. It was a little embarrassing because she was not as good as Wing was, but still strong enough to penetrate Zinnia's mental barrier to some extent. It took some effort though to do that. "I wonder if she would be proud of me?" Ever since the new year Yue had taken schooling more seriously, and as such, her grades are always at the top of her class now. Who knew a stupid person like her could do so well? "Once Flammel finds Ogygia, he'll take us there and we'll help you. It won't take much longer, love."
Someone unexpected arrived then. It was one of the originals, Althea, who came to visit them. Apparently she had been looking for them earlier as well, but was unable to find them. Yue was on guard, remembering how Althea was more than willing to sell Zinnia away to the Angels of Heaven, away from Yue, out of her life forever if not for Zinnia's daring escape. So when Althea smiled at her as if they were friends Yue did not return the gesture. "Hello." She said stiffly, her expression clear that she had no interest in hearing anything Althea had to say. It was one thing to be civil, it was another to tolerate her presence. Yue was an Eldriss, and she wouldn't forgive.
"Of course I learned from Forster. He made sure I was prepared for the duty." Yue muttered, feeling indignant. Everyone had the worst opinion of him, but no one understood that he was not the man everyone saw him as. She understood his suffering and knew that no one else ever did or tried. "If I told you there would be danger at tonight's festival, would you believe me?" Her voice was hard, her eyes narrowed. "I had a vision. You can look into my head and confirm it yourself." They were in danger, her, Orie, and Zinnia were all in danger. "My guess is the remnant dark mages." Those who once followed Freya were still out there and at large. "I can't imagine any other enemies currently."
Would she take the deal? Didn't Althea know about the danger? "I'm not going anywhere without Zinnia. I have to be with her to protect her." Yue said, shaking her head. "And it would be a shame for Zinnia to be forced to stick around a booth all night. So I'll only have the booth available for half the night." Unfortunately, being the official Diviner and Seer of Constantina came with responsibilities. Yue accepted that the moment she picked up her lamb mask. She glanced at Zinnia, wondering if she made the right choice.
Zinnia could not help but smile behind her hands at Yue's attitude towards Alty, the old witch didn't seem to mind, in fact she was almost amused by Yue's behavior. "I believe you, I suppose I'll warn the Guardians to be on close watch," Aly straightened, if Yue was going into business mode then so would she. Zinnia watched, thoroughly delighted as Yue delved into the details. Was it pride that welled up inside of her? Of course no doubt Zinnia had nothing to do with this, Yue had always had a bit of an attitude once she had come into magic and it was her responsibility to divine the possible outcomes of Constantina. "I'll agree to that," Alty nodded. "It is Hallow's Eve, I do not doubt that dark forces will try to collect mana as well." It was akin to a mana feast for the mages tonight, once the full moon was at its pique.
"That is fine with me," Zinnia smiled, Alty rolled her eyes, but nodded. "Alright, if that is the arrangement then I will agree to your terms," she smiled and walked away, pleased with herself for some untold reason. "Yue, you do not need to protect me," Zinnia spoke softly, seriously. She was one of the most powerful witches in Constantina, "The last thing I would ever want is for you to get dragged into whatever mess I will be pulled into." Yue had to stay safe, Zinnia would make certain of it. She did not want her... girlfriend to be doomed to a similar fate. Even now, her feather's itched, her wings threatening to grow.
Should Zinnia become an angel, she would lose her witch hood. Of course, the witch had never heard of someone simply becoming an angel. Perhaps she would simply cease to exist, becoming part of some sort of strange purgatory. Or maybe her soul would be dammed, as everyone knew that witches did not go to Heaven. "I don't want to see you hurt because of me," Zinnia's expression was serious. She knew that Yue would protest and go against her wishes, but Zinnia would do everything she could to make certain that Yue was kept safe. For now, there was no use in discussing these things. Zinnia had finished her tea and pancakes and was ready to get some shopping done. "Come, let us go to Market, I have a bit of extra money and could use a new robe."
Zinnia rose, heading out of Little Cup considering they were both finished with their breakfasts. Outside, the Market square was bustling with costumed patrons and children. They were already setting up for the festival, shouting wares and selling all sorts of enchanted foods to play tricks and hand out treats. "Hallow's Eve is always the busiest time of year," Zinnia explained, "since being underneath the moon helps replenish your mana, the festivities go on until late in the evening." Sometimes almost until sunrise.
With Alty here being a pain in the butt, Little Cup's air was being spoiled. Althea was not a friend of hers, and not someone Yue wanted to associate with. Yes, she understood that she was supposed to respect the Original, but respect was a two way street. If Althea did not act in either Yue or Zinnia's benefit, why should Yue care about her? Althea agreed to inform the Guardians, but hopefully that would be enough to contain the threat. Once she was gone, Zinnia seemed to be worried, telling her not to protect her. "You might be stronger than me, and one of the strongest witches there are, but enemies have beat you before." Multiple times now, in fact. "We're stronger together, so we'll protect each other." They were a couple, so they were going to be a team.
Heading into the marketplace, the city was already hustling and bustling with activity and people preparing for Hallow's Eve. Yue could spy Yuu going about with a team of Guardians to watch and patrol the area. "They're already on the lookout for enemies." Yue said softly. Was it stupid to tempt fate by heading out for the festival night? Perhaps it was. But this was one night Zinnia was allowed out of her house arrest. Yue couldn't take that away from her. "The moon was still up in my vision when the enemies attacked." Yue said after hearing Zinnia's explanation of tonight. "So they're probably already in position." Too bad Wing wasn't here anymore - her ability to scan the head of anyone they passed would be very helpful in flushing out who the enemy was, and who not to trust.
With a new bundle of Filament sticks in her arms, Yue pocketed them into Zinnia's robes. She figured Zinnia may want them, even if she didn't technically need tools to cast magic anymore. What was Zinnia? Was she a witch, an angel, or something more? Yue didn't know - but she knew one thing, and that was that whatever Zinnia was, the Eldriss girl would love her nonetheless. "Sorry if I'm sometimes a pain in the butt, Zinny." Yue told her quietly, watching the people about them getting ready. The sun was high in the sky, as if watching with anticipation for tonight's festivities. "I should set up my fortune telling booth, shouldn't I?"
Finding a nice spot underneath a pretty clearing where the moon could shine down at her booth, Yue glanced at Zinnia. "Want to help me set it up?" They had purchased materials, wood, cloth, little ornaments to set the mood, candles. But Zinnia was a better designer than Yue was, who lacked the imagination for this kind of thing. "Let's do it here, I like this spot." It was pretty close to the square where the main dancing would be done, as well.
Zinnia was glad to watch Althea go. While they were not enemies, they were not exactly on good terms. Zinnia viewed Althea as a nagging Grandmother why Alty seemed to think of Zinnia as a wayward grand child that needed her guidance, even though Zinnia had never asked for it and did not want it. She shook her head, glad to be rid of the nuisance and turned back towards Yue. "No one is infallible Yue, I may be strong, but I am not without my faults." Sure, a few enemies had beaten her, but Zinnia had always beaten them back. If she hadn't, well, she would no doubt be a full angel. Zinnia fingered the end of one of her long sleeves, suddenly feeling self conscious of herself once more. She shook her head, this was not the time for that. Zinnia had other things to think and worry about.
She rose, following Yue out the door after having paid for their meal. "It is always best to prepare for the worst." They had no idea if Yue's vision would come true, or if perhaps the enemy might strike another day. They also knew not what time, only that it was while the moon was full and the witches and wizards were at their strongest. It was a shame really, that this night may be spoiled by the enemy. Zinnia, of course, would do her best to fight them off for the sake of Constantina now that she knew of the threat. She would keep her inhibitions about her, or at least try to. "We will keep a watchful eye out for them and I suspect that Blithe and Rainarch are hiding somewhere in the fold." She could sense the watchful aura of her familiar.
"You are never a pain Yue," Zinnia smiled and awkwardly took the hand of her love, giving it a light squeeze before letting their hands fall apart. Contact was not something that Zinnia was overly comfortable with, especially in public. While their kind did not mind same sex couples and were very affectionate, Zinnia had largely grown up without anyone to hug or hold her. Thus, she was awkward when it came to affairs of affection, especially public ones. "Yes, we should find a place for you to settle," it seemed Zinnia would be beside her too, at least until the costume contest began. She was glad, for the most part, that she would not have to attend the party alone. In years prior, Zinnia had always shown up late and left early. She had no friends, up until now.
Tonight was different. Tonight, she had Yue and Orie. Yuu as well, if he was allowed to have a spot of fun. Perhaps the others would be here as well, Zolair and Protea, should they be allowed to join them for the evening. "Yes," Zinnia took Yue up on the offer, assisting in setting up the table. She drew a magical circle out of crushed flower petals and set the globe in the center of it, arranging the candles meticulously around the table. "There, that should do it." There were others setting up booths, food and drink were essential to Hallow's Eve, after all. "So, what do they do in Obsidian for Hallow's Eve? What was it like?" Zinnia wanted to know, wondering if the humans even celebrated the Wicca holiday.
There was another reason why Yue was not trying to change fate. The dark mages were a problem and as long as they were allowed to exist out there - Yue's own parents included - they were a threat. How do you contain a threat? You extinguish them, of course. The best way to do that is to, naturally, exterminate them all. In order to achieve that goal, Yue was hoping for them to come and attack. Blithe and Rainarch were already made aware of the issue as well, so they could follow behind them to where the dark mages made their lair. Yue would willingly get caught if it meant destroying more of her enemies. Likely Zinnia would get hurt too - and that was a tragic side effect - but if it meant wiping out the dark mages, it was worth it.
It was time now to prepare for Hallow's Eve. Yue found a good spot for herself to set up her fortune telling booth. She knew little tricks here and there too, Forster made sure she knew how. When did Forster start grooming her into the next Seer? Could it have been from the very first time they met? "I'll have to wear the Lamb Mask when I do it." Yue told Zinnia with a shrug as they set up the booth, using magic to move the wood and cloth and other materials to make an appealing stand. Other booths were being set up as well now, Zolair was given permission to do one too. His booth, near the garden pavilion entrance, was one where you could buy and try prank wands, like a wand that can only make purple lights, or another that always copies the voice of the person. "Don't worry, without an enchanted sleep it's just a fancy ornament." That was a lie, but Zinnia didn't need to know everything else the Lamb Mask was for, right?
As they admired their handiwork with the booth, it was afternoon and more people were preparing, setting up decorations, the Empyreans drew magic circles in chalk to commemorate the evening. It was interesting watching the two different cultures mesh together to celebrate the same event. "You want to know how humans do it?" Yue didn't know everything custom, but she knew what Americans tended to do. "We dressed up in costumes, like vampires and ghosts, and then walk around people's houses to take their candy. We also decorate our houses to look scary." It wasn't anything like what the witches did.
"Probably no one will come." Zolair muttered quietly, staring at the booth he had set up for himself. "Not after what happened." He had a bitter scowl on his face, shaking his head. Yue frowned at Zinnia. Would people come to see the prank wands? The Auroras weren't very popular in Constantina right now, though people liked Claris the victim more than they liked Zolair. "Have you tried apologizing?" The moon girl asked the boy. His face twisted in annoyance. "Why should I? I was only protecting my sister from being hurt. What's to apologize for?"
"I'm not worried Yue," Zinnia shook her head. "I trust that you can make smart decisions for yourself," she also knew that Yue was lying, but that was not something to confront her about right now. Zinnia listened to Yue in earnest when she spoke of how the humans celebrated Hallow's Eve. A smile roused to her face, "How strange. To dress as vampires and ghosts? Although, we too, don costumes but for a very different reason." Why would they take candy from one another? The entire practice sounded outlandish. "For mages it's more like a masquerade ball, our mana will flourish tonight and will be at its peak."
Beside them, Zolair was attempting to set up his own booth, seeming desolate despite the fact that the festivities had yet to begin. There were some patrons, but at noon they were far and few between. Yue was scolding him, but Zolair seemed to think he had nothing to apologize for. "I would like to buy one," Zinnia rose from her seat, looking at the table where each trick wand was labeled with what function it had been cast with. Zinnia herself no longer needed a wand, but she knew someone she would very much like to trick this with. "This one," she pointed to the wand that would shock your hand if you attempted to cast a spell. It was time to teach Althea, a traditional wand user, a lesson.
"It might within yours and Claris's best interest to learn to produce fillament." It would help with their sales considering the Empyrean producer's home had burned down when Constantina had been set ablaze. "You may find some loyal patrons." Zinnia sat back down, new trick wand bundled up to sneak into Alty's pocket later. "Zinnia!" A familiar head of blond hair was waving exuberantly at them as he bound towards them, grinning fiendishly."Hello Zeus," internally Zinnia groaned. "That costume is rather ravishing, I like the look of black on you." Zeus leaned against the table, grinning. "Are you here to have your fortune read or simply to flirt?" Her wings twitched in irritation. "I thought you were dead after the whole Seele affair, everyone was speculating the the Elder Council was covering it up by saying you were just resting at home."
"As you can see I am very much alive and content in my relations." Zeus was dressed as a lion, his fake tail flickering with enchantment. "I knew you were alive, you would never kick the bucket so easily," Zeus leaned forward conspiratorially, as though he had some great secret to tell. "When you saved the University, everyone knew it was you of course, the whole town was talking about it and then Althea announced you were going to be a judge in the costume contest. I knew I had to enter." Zinnia shook her head, "I merely assisted in that endeavor. I did not save the University."
Zolair was being a little bit impertinent. He didn't really understand that right now, what Claris needed most was for people to forgive the Aurora family for what they did. Zacharius Aurora was a dark mage and a criminal who hurt Salla in an awful way, and Zolair attacked the University and killed Orie, forcing her into a life as a demon rather than as a mage. Apologizing was a good first step to having them be accepted again into the community. "I didn't do anything wrong." Zolair said with a frown, looking surprised as Zinnia bought a shock wand. "Not apologizing means Claris will have more enemies once we find a way to wake her up." Zinnia came up with the idea of having the Aurora siblings learn how to make filament. It was a good idea - more people were taking the Filament course at the University in the hopes of being able to wield the strange new material after all.
Zolair shrugged with a surly groan. "Flammel's already arranged for me to learn, then I can teach Claris about it if I'm not suppressed again." He explained, relaxing in his booth, safe from the sun that was steadily approaching the sunset. There was probably only a few hours left before the festivities began. Was Yue nervous? Excited? She didn't really know. A part of her just felt grim resignation due to the fact that they likely were not going to have a chance to enjoy this Hallow's Eve festival, not with the dark mages ready to strike at any moment. "How does Flammel even know these things?" It seemed the Orange Wizard knew just about anything there was to know.
Zeus popped up again. For a short few weeks he had been one of Orie's classmates as he was first year now at the University. Though like all Empyrean males, he had far more mana than the average Constantinian. Yue bristled as Zeus once again found it fitting to flirt with her girl. "She's mine, and don't you forget it." Yue decided to step on his foot in a very sportsmanship way. "Go find your own lion." She rolled her eyes at Zinnia once again getting all the credit for the University incident when Zolair attacked. "Really, it was Yuu who dealt the finishing blow." Zinnia held Zolair off and then Yuu came to end his rampage, taking responsibility for his role in Claris's breakdown.
Someone came to interrupt their party then. "Sorry, but I have to leave her with you two." Yuu said, barely noticing Zeus at all. Protea gave a little wave and had a wristband to signify she was to remain under supervision, as she was still a prisoner. "I was originally supposed to be her supervisor, but the Elders put me on patrol duty to find the dark mages, so Protea can stay with you two for tonight." Yue didn't see a problem with this, she knew Protea had no ill will for anyone ever since she was freed of Zeal's possession. The only problem was that if Protea stayed with them, there was a good chance she could get wrapped up in the dark mage mess. "I'll be good." Protea said with a lazy smile. "Where's Orie? She wanted to see the mana battery before the night began."
"I will greatly enjoy the company," Zinnia said as Yuu dropped off Protea to be in their care. Zinnia did not mind, of course Yue would end up babysitting her once the costume contest began. "Orie will be joining us soon, do not worry." Zeus had been scared off, no doubt Yuu's presence intimidated him. After all, he respected men more than women, therefore Yue had not intimidated him. Zolair too, seemed eager for the evening's festivities to begin. The sun was steadily going down and the trickle of people had begun. As soon as the golden hour hit the sky, the town square began to fill with music and laughter. "I will return in a moment," Zinnia assured Yue, pointing to the booth she was going to. It was right across, directly in her field of vision. Zinnia did not mind the feeling of being babysat of course, although she was rather frustrated that Yue did not trust her to protect herself.
Zinnia strode purposefully towards the booth, purchasing four pumpkin cupcakes and warm chai tea. She carried the tray carefully back towards the fortune telling both. Zinnia placed one on Zolair's table and handed one to Protea. "For... me?" She inquired, her eyes widening. "Yes," Zinnia nodded. She held up her steaming cup of tea, smiling. "A toast is in order, I suppose." Her expression was serene as she raised her glass, "to friendship," perhaps this was the start of more friends, of more people that Zinnia could rely on. The sun was hanging low in the sky, Zinnia sipped her tea, the fall chill making her shiver. The tea warmed her belly, smelling lightly of cinnamon and vanilla. Fall flavors danced on her tongue and she bit into her cupcake, careful to not get any on her costume.
"Oh Yue, it appears as though you have a customer." Zinnia nodded towards the group that was meandering towards them. Salla and Darris smiled, waving shyly. Lumier was behind them, stuffing a pastry into their mouth. "We came to have our fortunes read!" Darris declared, pulling out the chair to sit down on. Zinnia stepped to the side, allowing Yue to take over. They all knew how fortune telling worked of course. The magic was readily available to anyone who so wished to seek it, but having your fortune told by the Seer of Constantina was special; she had magic that no one else had, more reliable than any other diviner in their city. Salla, in the meanwhile, hesitantly went over to Zolair's booth to browse the magic trick wands.
Zinnia kept her eyes out of course, they had to be wary of an enemy. The sun was just going down, but the Hallow's Eve celebration had begun. "Zinnia!" She stiffened, it seemed that her fellow Constantinian's had been quick to find her. No doubt the rumor mill had been swirling ever since she had disappeared after assisting in the rescue of the remaining witches from Seele. Somehow, the square seemed empty without many of their fellow mages. Her feathers ruffled, if only she had been faster. They could have halved the damage done to their wonderful city. They were still in repair, yes, but the future had dawned upon their city and not unkindly. "Hello," Zinnia put on a smile, knowing that she would need to do her best to put her shyness away.
As Zinnia went off to buy treats from one of the snack booths, Yue got a better look at Protea. Somehow even she was able to get dressed up and in costume. Yuu must have gotten her a winged frog onesie for Hallow's Eve. It looked ridiculous and strange, but Protea did not seem to mind. If anything she seemed to like the odd costume choice. "What? Jealous of my amazing costume?" Protea stuck her tongue out Yue's way, doing a little wiggle in her winged frog onesie. "Stuff it, Zinnia chose mine especially, so my costume is the best." Protea gave an understanding nod and grinned sneakily at her. "Let's just agree that Zinny looks the best of anyone tonight." People were strolling in, but none looked as beautiful as Zinnia in the Seylum Princess dress.
Zinnia returned with snacks and Yue put her mask on after eating some and they shared a toast. "Friendship is nice." Protea agreed, leaving her old feelings for Zinnia behind. The night was on, and it was time for a festival. Yue would do her part and spend a few hours at the booth. It was a part of her duty as a Seer, after all. Already her first customers were here, the Third Years and leaders of the Zinnia Fanclub had arrived. Salla still looked as if she was recovering from being hurt when she went to check out Zolair's prank wands. For the record, Zolair didn't seem to be holding anything against her despite her role in the Claris mess. "So which of you two wants to go first?" Yue asked, wondering how odd it was to be wearing her Lamb Mask while also wearing a fairy costume. "The banshee Lumiere, or the kappa Darris?"
Darris pointed to himself with a cheeky grin, having already sat down in the chair. "I'll be your first." He volunteered. Yue nodded, waving her hand to light the candles to have them glow an eerie purple to set the mood. "Give me your hand. I'll divine an important event for your future from your hand." Darris nodded, laying his hand palm faced up for Yue to examine. She closed her eyes and focused on it through the eyes of her Lamb Mask, seeing the threads of fate weaving through the air. Yue pulled one at random, deciding it would be okay. "I saw your hand casting a spell, a very specific spell." Yue leaned in closer and lowered her voice. "You will summon a familiar, and that familiar will be a good friend to you for life." Darris looked excited - despite his skill in most other types of magic, he never had been able to summon a demon and make a contract. "That's great news, love!" Lumiere clapped his back, excited for him as his eyes lit up with glee.
Next was Lumiere who sat daintily on the chair, offering her hand. Yue closed her eyes and focused on the palm once again, pulling at a thread when suddenly she felt as if she wanted to vomit. Why did she see Lumiere killing herself? What could that possibly - no, Yue would save that for later and look into it at another time. She didn't want to spoil the mood of the night. She yanked on another thread to summon the future. "Your hand is wet with tears as you hand the Head Girl badge to the successor after a good final year at University." She smiled wryly. "There was a ring on it, though I wonder what that could be for." Lumiere let out a squeal as Darris blushed bashfully. "Hey, even I didn't know I was gonna do that yet!" It seemed the couple would move on and become each other's intendeds. Yue glanced at Zinnia, wondering if she and her would ever take that step one day.
