D E M E A N O R

h e i g h t x // x6' 1"

w e i g h t x // x200 lbs

h a i r x // xTobias has deep chocolate brown hair that he keeps fairly short. The sides are usually shaved, while the top is long enough to slick back or style if he so desires.

e y e s x // xHis eyes can arguably be considered blue, but they often are a greyish tone. Tobias' father claims they are his mother's eyes, but he's never met the woman to know but they aren't his father's.

o d d i t i e s x // xTobias has a feint German accent. It usually is almost unnoticeable except for when he pronounces his w’s like v’s. When he is angry though, his accent gets thicker. More predominantly is that he is covered in tattoos and even some piercings. Most are self administered and done in part because he wanted to infuriate his clean cut and old school father.

a p p e a r a n c e x // xEverything about Tobias screams bad boy. He looks intimidating and… Well scary. He’s tall and muscular, very muscular. His shoulders are broad and lead downwards to a fit, slender waist. He’s like a walking wall of graffiti. His gaze is strong and cold hidden behind his pronounced brow. His square jawline, symmetrical nose and stiff mouth are as handsome as they are aggressive. Tobias is as enticing as he is off-putting. He usually sticks to all black or grey clothing. He’s usually in jeans and a sweater, even when he should be in things more appropriate for training exercises. Also, on very rare occasions, he can be found wearing glasses, usually when he’s reading or playing the piano.

g r a v i t y x r e d u c t i o n x // x His control over the magnetic and electromagnetic force is so refined that he can shut off gravity within a limited radius of himself by reversing the polarity of the earth's own magnetic field.

s u p e r h u m a n x s t r e n g t h x // x Under normal conditions, Tobias possesses the physical strength of a well conditioned athlete. However, he can channel vast amounts of magnetic energy through his body for the purpose of granting himself superhuman strength temporarily.

P R O F I C I E N C I E S

g e n i u s x l e v e l x i n t e l l e c t x // x His father was a genius on many levels, including genetic engineering and mutation. Tobias on the other hand, refused to learn about manipulation others. Instead, he is an expert in magnetically powered machinery, engineering and physics.

m y s t i q u e x // x To Tobias, Raven is his mom. Regardless of blood, she was there for him when no one else was. He doesn't know what he'd do without her.

b e c o m i n g x h i s x f a t h e r x // x His father is terrifying. The man is blinded by his hate for humans, and without a caring bone in his body after so many years. The man is everything he doesn't want to be, but he continually finds himself slipping closer and closer.
p r o v i n g x e v e r y o n e x r i g h t xx // x His life has been one disappointment after another. He's been lead to believe he's an abomination and will amount to nothing. Tobias will do anything not to hear "I told you so."
l o v e x // x More of a fear of heartbreak. Tobias is more sensitive than what people would think. He keeps himself guarded, so letting someone in terrifies him of the possibility of being hurt once he shows his vulnerability.
m a g n e t o x // x For good reason. The man is terrifying and it only makes matters worse that he is Tobais' father.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
xxxxxxxxxxxxx perceptive xx sullen xx vulnerable xx guarded x

Tobias has never been one to be overly social or talkative. He’s grown accustomed to being a silent shadow in the background because for so many years of his life, that’s what was expected of him. But there are also benefits of growing up in the shadows. He has become quite observant. He notices things that others might not, picking up on the slightest body language hints and tells. When you know how things work, move and think it’s easy to predict their next move. People have often asked if he also had the talent of foresight because of his perceived way of knowing what’s to come. It is nothing to do with an ability, but just watching and observing. Sometimes, if he knows a person well enough, he knows what they will say before they say it just by their facial expression, body language and how they pause before speaking.

He’s gotten a reputation without even trying. Comes with the territory of having a father like his. So, Tobias tends to keep to himself. He’d rather stick to himself than deal with judgmental stares and the endless berating of questions. He’s been referred to the brooding emo student at the academy. Instead of trying to fight the rumors or whatever else he just lets them fester. It’s not like he has to try to make them believe otherwise. His natural quietness, and intimidating presence is enough to keep people at bay. That’s not to say some of it isn’t true. Tobias’ past weighs heavily on him along with the internal conflict he feels constantly being torn between the academy, oppressive father and loving mother figure that’s on the wrong side.

What many people fail to notice, or try to get close enough to Tobias to find out, is truly how vulnerable he is. He doesn’t look it, but he feels things deeply. Underneath the rough exterior and intimidating presence, he is one of the most kind, caring and chivalrous people at the academy. Some hints come out here and there, like how he always holds the door for the women or gives a firm handshake to anyone he meets. Mystique often called him her little pitbull because people were scared of his aggressive stature and appearance, but like any well loved animal he was a teddy bear inside. He locked that side of him away as his father said it was weakness and someday, someone would use that to hurt him.

So, Tobias instead became fairly guarded. Erik always told him if he always kept his shields up then he could never get hurt. This makes him difficult to approach and even more difficult for him to make friends. Very few people get to see beyond the armor he was forced to put up because of his father. It’s become second nature, but every so often when he realizes he’s doing it, Tobias will let a crack in his shell appear. A fraction of a glance to the man deep down inside. But to most he’ll always be the tall, dark and brooding son of the enemy.

H I S T O R Y

Tobias Lehnsherr, the accident. He never was much in the eyes of his father. Of course, women were always throwing themselves at the feet of the all powerful Magneto, and who was he to argue? The man wasn’t please though when an indiscretion later in his life resulted in a child. A doorstep baby. Not something the man wanted, but Tobias came from his loins. He couldn’t very well send him to an orphanage or whatever else.

He wasn’t wanted, and Erik didn’t have to say it for Tobias to know. It wasn’t like he was the man’s first child. He knew of another pair of mutant children somewhere that were his siblings. But, no matter how much Tobias asked to meet them, Erik wouldn’t allow it. He had enough on his plate for two children, let alone three. At least the Maximoffs had a mother to take care of them, and he didn’t have to be bothered by them, but not this boy.

More often then not, Erik was off on Brotherhood business, leaving him in the care of whichever mutant was free at the time. His favorite was Mystique. Maybe it was the harbored love she still felt for his father, or what but she actually took care of him. She was the closest thing to a mother figure he had in his life. She tried to justify why his father was the way he was, but he didn’t care.

As he grew older, Tobias seemed to be a late bloomer. No evidence of powers or anything else of worth. Erik and some of the other Brotherhood mutants looked at him as a burden that wouldn’t allot to anything. He’d turn out like the humans they despised, worthless and in the way. On many occasions Erik threatened to send Tobias off to an orphanage because “even Charles Xavier wouldn’t take someone as useless as him.” Mystique talked him out of it, time and time again, but how much longer would that last?

Tobias always had a knack for being at the wrong place at the wrong time. When he was fifteen, he stumbled upon an altercation between his father and Mystique. Something deep down in him boiled, exploding out at his father when he tried to strike at her. All the pent up power within him unleashed on his father, an explosion of magnetic waves. The surprising thing… His father wasn’t mad but ecstatic. From that moment Tobias was no longer useless but a prodigy… an heir.

Erik spent all his free time from that moment training and pushing Tobias past his breaking point and back again. He looked at his son as the ultimate weapon, a legacy to continue on in his place when the time would come. So, when Tobias got the recruitment letter to the academy, Erik saw it as the perfect opportunity to put a plan in the academy… Tobias seeing it as a chance to escape. Mystique wasn’t happy about his departure but knew it was for the best. Unlike his father, over the several years he’s been at the school she’s made visits and calls regularly, while his father only checks in wanting more information about the Descendants and their next move.

The descendants at the academy are no strangers to training, but the past couple months everything has been at the next level. Spontaneous training exercises, simulations or spars without a moments notice to keep the proteges always on their toes, at peak performance. Even the most seasoned descendants at the academy have never seen training as vigorous and extensive as they were currently going through. It didn't take a genius for them to know that they were preparing for something, but they weren't given any information. "You won't always know what you're up against and time to prepare. You should be ready at a moments notice. Ready for anything, prepared for anything and expecting death."

***

Mycroft Xavier stood in the long narrow corridor that stretched the length of sub-level 23. Numerous doors plagued either wall along the hallway, leading to the elevators. There were no windows, after all, he was underground. But his surroundings were cold, almost medical. Concrete floors and walls, reinforced steel doors and buzzing fluorescents above. Stark made the rest of the tower gorgeous in every way, but the training floors weren't made for beauty. They were designed to withstand whatever these students could throw at them, and then some.

With a sigh, Mycroft raised his left hand which held a clipboard. His right index finger and thumb pulled back the sleeve of his shirt revealing a watch upon his wrist. 03 05 hours. As he readjusted his sleeve, the elevator doors opened releasing Phil and Alfred. They strolled towards him like they had no where better to be. "You're late," Mycroft said, pursing his lips.

"Apologizes Mr. Xavier, I am not used to being up at this hour," Alfred apologized before taking a sip from his hot cup of tea.

"Remind me again why we're up at this hour?" Phil asked as he came to a halt before Mycroft.

"Crash course training exercise. Threats don't wait until they've gotten a full eight hours." Mycroft checked his watch again before flipping through pages on the clipboard.

"Excellent," Phil said dryly as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "J.A.R.V.I.S. 15 minute alarm please."

"Yes sir," J.A.R.V.I.S. replied.

"Tell them to come prepared for battle," Mycroft added.

"Hold on," Alfred interjected, stepping towards Mycroft. "Some of these students use grenades, guns... live weaponry."

"Precisely."

"They should be using sparring equipment, not adamantium blades. This could get them killed," Alfred argued. He was always the tender hearted out of the mentors. He worried more about the students well being than Phil or Mycroft combined.

"That's the point Mr. Pennyworth," Mycroft concluded coldly, marking something off on his clipboard. "J.A.R.V.I.S., the message please."

Of course, Wren wasn't asleep. It was rare that she slept because she hardly ever needed rest. It left her with many nights of either boredom or loneliness. That night was no different. She decided to spend the late hours of the day watching trash TV. She laid on her large sofa without pants, surrounded by junk food and soda.

"What the fuck!? Of course, he's not the father!" she yelled, throwing popcorn at her TV. "That baby is whiter than I am!" she grumbled, shoving another handful of popcorn into her mouth.

An obnoxious beeping noise sounded throughout the towers intercoms, drowning out the results of who the father was. Wren tried to ignore it, snatching up her remote and turning up the volume. She smashed the up button until her TV was at the highest volume, but the alarm only seemed to grow louder as she tried to block it out. "God damn it J.A.R.V.I.S.! This is the only time I can watch Jerry Springer in peace." She growled, angrily shoving the bowl of popcorn off her lap, onto the floor.

"Apologies Ms. Wilson, mentors Xavier, Coulson and Pennyworth request everyone's presence on sub-level 23 in 15 minutes. They ask that you come prepared for battle."

Wren nearly spat her coke out as she took a drink, sitting up quickly. "Woah woah woah, wait a minute!" She threw out her arms like she was trying to silence a crowd, when in reality it was simply an intangible A.I. "You mean to tell me I can come... with my guns?"

"That is correct."

"Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit!" Wren hoped up from her seat. She turned around and hurdled over the back of the couch, rushing towards her bedroom. "You should have said that in the first place. There are more than a few assholes in this academy I'd like to introduce to Bonnie and Clyde." She bee lined for her closet, throwing open the doors. She yanked out her red suit and tossed it onto her bed.

"Bonnie and Clyde?"

Wren popped out of her closet, holding a pistol in each hand. "Bonnie." She waved her left hand. "Clyde." She waved her right.

J.A.R.V.I.S. remained quiet for a long moment. "10 minutes Ms. Wilson."

"Yeah, yeah." She waved her hands towards the direction of the computers voice. "Stupid computer doesn't get my jokes," Wren grumbled as she wiggled into the legs of her red suit, leaving the top half of the unitard handing off her hips.

"I heard that."

Wren rolled her eyes, slipping her guns into their holsters on either one of her thighs. She adjusted the strap of her sports bra before slipping the straps of her katanas' holster over her left shoulder like a purse. Her right hand grabbed a pair of sunglasses off her dresser as she passed it and headed towards the door.

"It is 3 am, there is no sun."

"Oh, so now you make jokes." Wren snorted, putting the sunglasses on and exited out into the hall. She sauntered down the hall to the stairs, deciding to take them instead of the elevator that will quickly be overfilled with other students.

It wasn't long before she reached sub-level 23. Wren kicked open the door, and skipped her way down the hall towards the grim trio. "What's up docs? Why the late night call?"

Alfred smiled towards her while the other two seemed to barely acknowledge her presence. Mycroft didn't even look up and make eye contact as he spoke to her. "Be quiet and take your spot in line."

"Ouch... Daytime doesn't agree with you and apparently nighttime doesn't either."

Mycroft lethargically looked up, pointing his index finger at the line on the ground before him. "Get. In. Line."

Wren held up her hand in surrender as she turned around and moved to stand on the line. But just to spite Mycroft, she removed the swords from her back and dropped them on the ground. They landed with a loud crash before she flopped down on the ground beside them. She rested her hands on the floor behind as she crossed her ankles before her. Wren could tell Mycroft wanted to say something but as he parted his lips to speak, she beat him to it. "I am on the line douche-croft."

Alfred chuckled. "Oh, let her be. It's late."

Mycroft grumbled, looking down at his papers. "You're too soft on them, old man."

***

It seemed the more time Tobias spent in the academy, the harder it was for him to sleep. Everything weighed so heavily on him. He wanted to embrace the academy. Make a name for himself that wasn't associated with Magneto. But his father lead the Brotherhood. And even worse, Mystique was trapped there. He could leave without a second glance if it was just his father, disobey him and lead an attack on the Brotherhood of Mutants. But with Raven there... He was half tempted to spy, just to keep her alive.

The thoughts kept him up at night, boiling at the base of his skull like lava. No matter how many more positives there were to completely joining the Academy, Mystique out numbered it all. She was his mum. Not biologically, but she was. He would rather die one thousand painful deaths before ever harming her... And that was his problem.

Buzz. Buzz.

His cellphone vibrated on the table beside him as he sat on his balcony, reading the Odyssey. Tobias had half a mind to ignore it, but finally caved and withdrew the device from his pocket. Mum illuminated the screen. He slid his thumb across the glass then put the phone to his ear. "I was just thinking about you."

"I had hoped you were asleep... I planned on just leaving you a message."

"It's ok, mum. I was just reading." He closed the book and set it on the table beside him.

"You should try to get some sleep, Tobias. You can't be a hero if you're fatigued."

Tobias chuckled, resting his elbows on his knees. "I'm no hero."

"Not this again... Tobias. Please, do what's best for you. I can handle him."

He rubbed his eyes with his right hand as he sighed. "...It's not that simple. You know what he'll do to you if I—"

Tobias was cut off when he heard the alarm throughout the tower. But the noise wasn't ear piercing or interruptive in his penthouse. Instead, he wouldn't have heard it at all if it weren't for him sitting on the balcony.

"I apologizes Mr. Lehnsherr, but your presence is requested."

"Thank you J.A.R.V.I.S., just a moment." He held up his index finger before speaking back towards his phone. "I must go. Training."

"I'm sure you will excel, my dear. Please, get some sleep after."

"Ok, mum. I love you." Tobias ended the call. He grabbed his book and stood up from where he was sitting. He headed back into his penthouse, slipping the novel into its home on his bookshelf.

"I am sorry for the interruption Mr. Lehnsherr, but the mentors request that you dress for battle and report to sub-level 23 in 10 minutes."

"Thank you." He headed into his bedroom, stopping in the doorway. "And thank you... For silencing the alarm."

"Of course."

It wasn't often that he got the chance to talk to Mystique. He could never call her, and she could only call him if she is able to slip away from Magneto long enough to get away with it. It might be silly to thank a computer for respecting his phone call, but he appreciated it. Even if the call was for a minute, it was important to him.

Tobias sighed, looking at himself in the mirror. He was never one to wear a ridiculous suit like some of the descendants. His father tried to get him his own set of armor, but he didn't want it. Partly because it'd only make him look even more like Magneto, but also because it slowed him down... And you can't blend into a crowd dressed like a Power Ranger. What he was wearing was good enough. He had ample movement.

He stopped by the table that held his helmet on the way towards the door. Tobias pursed his lips, staring at the head piece. Prepare for battle. The alarm didn't seem urgent enough to be anything other than another extensive training exercise. But if he were going into battle... Real battle... He'd need it. He sighed, slipping his fingers through the eye holes in the helmet and picked it up. It was helpful, but it was identical to his father's. Tobias hated how he looked in it... Like a young Erik Lehnsherr.

Tobias had no need for weapons or anything else. With a final glance around his penthouse, he sighed and opened the door. "Wish me luck J.A.R.V.I.S."

"Good luck sir. Although I do not think you need it."

He smiled, closing the door and heading down the hall. Tobias took a deep breath as he pressed the button for the elevator. He was silently relieved when it arrived absent any others. Once he entered it, he held out his left hand, palm towards the ground. Without much effort, he sent the elevator down, past all the other floors, regardless if the called for the lift or not.

When he reached the appropriate floor, he quietly walked down the hall towards the mentors and a reclining Wren. Tobias quirked a brow at the red head, but said nothing as he stood a few feet down the line from her.

"See," Mycroft said pointing towards Tobias but talking towards Wren. "That is how you stand in line."

"Oh, blow it out your ass," Wren scoffed, bouncing her right foot over her left, not even looking in Tobias' direction.

Frankie was sound asleep in her bed, snuggled under a mountain of blankets. When the alarm sounded, it rang through her room like the soft chirping of birds and the sounds of leaves rustling in the wind. She groaned softly as she shifted in bed, rubbing her eyes. When she opened her eyes, she sat up seeing as how it was still black as night outside.

"J.A.R.V.I.S.? What's going on?" she asked through yawns, stretching her arms out in either direction. Frankie was tempted to just lay back down and go back to sleep. But she never woke in the night on her own unless it was a nightmare. And considering she cannot remember what she dreamt of, she knew that wasn't it.

"I am sorry to wake you Ms. Parker. But your presence is required on sub-level 23. Your mentors request that you be present in 15 minutes and dress for battle."

Frankie sighed, throwing her blankets off her legs and lethargically climbed out of bed. "J.A.R.V.I.S.? Could you please brew a pot of coffee while I get dressed?"

"Certainly."

Frankie padded her bare feet over to her closet, pushing back the doors. She slid clothes over out of the way to reveal her mothers suit in a cabinet along the back wall. A melancholy smile graced her lips as she took it out. She stood frozen for a long moment, looking over the white and black suit. "Hi mom," she whispered, thumbing over the fabric.

In no time she was dressed in her mother's old Spider Gwen suit, walking out into the living room of her penthouse. Frankie picked up her webshooters that rested on the coffee table, attaching them to her wrists as she made her way to the kitchen. She closed her eyes, inhaling deeply the scent of fresh brewed coffee. "J.A.R.V.I.S. you rock!" she said as she made herself a cup of the wonderfully warm caffeinated drink. She held the mug in her small hands, sipping from it as she exited her penthouse and walked towards the elevator.

It seemed to take extra long that particular moment, and she could have sworn she heard it go down right past her floor, but she was content with waiting and drinking her coffee. When it finally came she stepped on and road it down to the training floor. Frankie walked down the hall, smiling towards the mentors and other descendants that were waiting in line. "Morn—Evening?" She moved to stand beside Tobias, and held her coffee out towards him. "Wanna sip?"

"Thanks," he replied quietly, taking a drink from her mug and then handed it back.

"Wren?" Frankie motioned the cup towards her.

"Oh, you don't want me to drink that," Wren replied. "Then I'll never shut up."

***

Ross snored as his body was swallowed by the giant bean bag chair. The blue light from his TV shined against his face as the Xbox controlled raised and lowered on his chest with his breathing. When the alarm blared throughout his room, he startled awake sending the controller flying across the room. "Aye! Who be there?!"

"Me, Mr. McCulloch."

He groaned, waving his hand like he was shooing the computer away as he rolled over on the beanbag and immediately started snoring again. But it didn't last long when the alarms grew louder. "Yer mother is a fackin' whore!" Ross yelled, lethargically rolling out of the bean bag chair and onto the floor.

"I don't have mother... Unless you want to call Mr. Stark my mother, but—"

"Oy, shut up." Ross pushed off the ground, nearly falling over as he tried to balance on his own two feet. "T'fuck you want?" He rubbed his eyes, dragging his feet as he headed towards his bedroom. But before he entered, the door slammed shut in his face.

"I'm sorry sir, but you are going the wrong way."

"The hell I am!?" Ross rested his forehead against the door, banging his hand weakly on its surface. "Le'me sleep!"

"You are requested to go to sub-level 23 dressed for battle in 10 minutes."

"I'm not goin'." Ross started walking back towards the bean bag chair, eyes barely opened.

"I've been ordered to turn on the sprinklers in your room if you do not come."

Ross growled, kicking the bean bag chair. He wouldn't have cared, he could sleep in rain, shine... Tornado. But everything in his room would be ruined... Especially the arcade. "Fine!" Ross grabbed the closet outfit he could find and nearly put it on backwards as he got dressed, almost falling over as he stepped in the legs of his pants. He snatched up his mirror pack on the way to the door and slammed the door shut behind him as he exited his penthouse.

When he reached the training floor, the bags were prominent under his eyes as he seemed to move in slow motion over to the line. His gaze dragged over to the cup of glorious steamy goodness in Frankie's hand. "Fer the love of God." He didn't wait to be offered a drink. He reached out and took the cup, nearly drinking half of its contents. "Yer a Goddess, Frankeh. Has anyone told yeh?"

Frankie chuckled, taking back the cup. "You look like you need it more than I do."

Ross gave a weak smirk, leaning back against the wall. Even on two feet, his eyes fought to fall. It seemed to take more energy to try and keep them open than it did to remain standing. Every moment or so, rubbing his eyes with a yawn.

Startling a half demon was probably not the best idea in the world, but startling this particular half demon, could very well be the last mistake a person could ever make. A lesson the poor walls of her penthouse learned the hard way as her cape manifested itself and sent spikes into the wall as she darted upright, hand to her chest. "Fucking hell," She said as she caught her breathe, dust falling around her as her cape went back to its fabric-like structure. She looked at her dust covered arms and sighed. "Jarvis!" She called with a bit of a whine.
"Yes, Ms. Simmons,"
"It happened again."She sighed. "I am aware, Ms. Simmons, It will be repaired before you returned." He or It told her and Schuyler nodded. "Kay," She said and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. "What's this about anyway?"
"your presence is required on sub-level 23, You are to be prepared for battle" He told her and she rubbed the back of her head. "When am I not?" She asked rhetorically, gesturing to her penthouse that looked oddly like two Kryptonians had their way with it. She climbed out of bed and dragged herself into the shower which was working thank Odin. She rubbed her face as she passed the mirror, she never looked in it, she was always terrified of what she might see looking back at her, and it wasn't the demon she was worried about. It was the girl, the human part of her that was losing its battle and fast. Mirrors were to be avoided at all cost. She peeled off her pajamas and climbed into the shower, she planned to be quick but the training had been intesnse, and that was saying a lot coming from someone who was raised as an Asgardian. You'd think she'd be used to this level of intensity but even in Asgard it wasn't this often, or if it was, it would be small bursts of little tasks not mission level training. At least there were people here she like, however few and far between, in Asgard, it just sucked, all the time, they didn't like her and she didn't like them because of it. At least here, when she bitched about the training, she had a few people to bitch right along with her, not tell her how weak she must be to this hard, or how a demon shouldn't even be in the school learning, and that she should be grateful to be in their mere presence. Fuck that noise.

She made her shower quick and dressed in her Asgardian style armor, helmet included and summoned her cape, which flowed behind her like red ink. Hey, she was told to dress for battle, not training.

She made her way toward sublevel 23and saw that Frankie had arrived and was passing out coffee along with a few others that she cared little to mention until Wren made a comment she couldn't resist. "Oh, you don't want me to drink that then I'll never shut up." Now, the smart thing to do here would be not to say anything to provoke the one they called the Mouth, whose sole purpose in life was to gray Schuyler's hair but it was too good to pass up.

"By Odin's Beard! So it's true, this magical place in time when you actually don't speak, actually exists! They said it couldn't be real, it was only a myth!" Schuyler said feigning shock, a hand to her chest."Frankie, call the Daily Bugle! This front page!news! " She said, grabbed Frankie's shoulders, and shaking her just a little. She laughed to herself her as she stepped in line beside Frankie, and nodded to the men. "Boys." Contrary to popular belief, She didn't hate Wren, there were two people at this school that fell into that dark category, Wren wasn't one of them, she was like that pothole you run over every day one the way to work, you know it's there and you could try to avoid it but the effort is pointless, so it's just a part of your daily routine. As she awaited Wren's inevitable response, She gave a respectful nod to the older men, Alfred, Phil, and Mycroft. Believe it or not, she didn't give the teachers any trouble, that was beating out of her years ago.

Jaxon was sprawled across his bed in spread-eagle position on his stomach. When an alarm blared loudly throughout his room, Jaxon jerked his head up from his bed. What the hell, he thought as he blinked the sleepiness out of his eyes. He rolled over and stared up at the ceiling groggily.

"Mr. Storm, you are to report to sub-level 23 in 15 minutes, and be fully dressed for battle."

Irritated look on his face, Jaxon sat up in his bed. "My beauty sleep was interrupted for training?"

J.A.R.V.I.S. responded, "I'm afraid so, sir. It was at the request of your mentors."

Of course it was the mentors, who else would it be. It was probably Mycroft's idea, he's always making them work their asses off. Jaxon sighed and slapped both of his cheeks to wake himself up. As he stood from his bed, the sheets dropped and revealed Jaxon in all of his glory. He had always found sleeping naked to be more freeing. Plus he was always hot, so the less clothes he had on, the better. He lazily scratched his ass as he went to get his suit of his closet.

Jaxon pulled out the human torch suit that was given to him by his father and slid it on. He would wear clothes underneath it, but they would just end up burnt and it would defeat the whole purpose of his suit. Jaxon walked to the mirror in his bathroom and admired himself in the tightfitting suit. He nodded approvingly, it defined his muscles and showed off his ass. His eyes went from his suit to his hair which was slightly ruffled. Jaxon ran his hands though it once and called it good, he normally kept his hair messy anyways.

He called out to J.A.R.V.I.S as he left the bathroom. "Thanks for giving me the message J.A.R.V.I.S, I'm heading down there right now."

"Your welcome, Mr. Storm."

Jaxon reached the elevator and jumped in. As the elevator took him to the training room he quickly lit himself on fire to give himself a little jumpstart. It worked a little bit, Jaxon was beginning to feel more alert. He rolled his head around on his shoulders, hoping that would help as well. Compared to the others, Jaxon would be a bit bare when it comes to gadgets. All he had was his specialized suit whereas they had weapons of every kind. The only other skill Jaxon had was his knowledge in mechanics and what would he do with that? Bring a wrench and start whacking people with it? As amusing as that would be, it would be of no help to Jaxon whatsoever.

The doors opened and he stepped out into the training room. Not many people were here yet, but they were sure to start pouring in soon. He walked over to the line they were seeming to form and listened as Wren and Skye already began to run their mouths. Jaxon found the two of them to be quite amusing. He didn't know how they were both wide awake while he was still shaking off the last of his grogginess, but it didn't surprise him. Especially when it came to Wren as she talked every second of every day. Normally Jaxon would join in the conversation, but at the moment he was too tired to add a comment.

ImageCurled up tightly in a chair, a downy-soft blanket wrapped around her shoulders - one of few luxuries Petra allowed herself - Petra's soft, sleep-slow breathing was the only sound filling her penthouse. A book lay open on the armrest beside her, its worn pages betraying its age. Not for the first time, Petra had fallen asleep reading, too comfortable in her chair to move to bed when she was supposed to a few hours ago. The few lit lamps cast their gentle light around the room, illuminating part of her face, her expression for once relaxed in slumber.

A soft sigh echoed around the walls, J.A.R.V.I.S. clearly reluctant to rouse the sleeping witch. The alarm sounded anyway, its klaxon sounding even louder than it really was given the relative silence in the room. Petra's head shot upright from where it had been resting on the chair, her hair slightly dishevelled, eyes wide and staring wildly around. Before she could gain her surroundings, her palm was already up and ready, a pale red ball of energy pulsing at the ready. "What?"

"My apologies for waking you, Ms. Maximoff, but your mentors request your presence at sub-level 23 in 15 minutes. Please be dressed for battle." The A.I.'s dulcet tones calmed Petra down almost immediately, and she lowered her hand.

"Do you have any idea what they want?" Petra questioned as she threw off the blanket, sitting up and running a hand through her hair to untangle it. She got to her feet, leaving the blanket still draped over the chair, and her book still on its perch.

"Negative, Ms. Maximoff."

"I see. My thanks for the alarm." Petra swapped her comfortable sweatpants and tee for a blouse and jeans, then considered herself in the mirror for a moment. As an afterthought, she pulled a sweater on, and took her cloak off its hanger, pinning it around her shoulders.

As she strode down the hall towards the training room, her heels made a satisfyingly professional clicking noise. She knew some wondered why she, for all her formalities and morals, would bother with a perfect face of makeup and high heels at every situation, but it wasn't quite their place to judge. For Petra, all the little details she put towards putting her best self forward added to her control; she wasn't going to let any part of herself, physical or otherwise, be less than completely in her control.

Mycroft barely glanced up from his notes, but greeted her with a curt, "Petra. Please join the rest." He pointed at the line. Figuring an explanation would arrive soon, she moved to join the rest of the students, positioning herself near Ross, assessing the rest of the group present. Wren, mouthing off as usual, and with Schuyler, no less - birds of a feather flock together, I suppose; Tobias, whom she gave a slight nod to upon meeting his eye; Frankie, as bright as ever; Ross, looking like he was barely awake; and Jaxon, watching the rest like she was. A likely group.

ImageRiley wasn't asleep - as per the norm, he was attempting to keep himself busy by mopping the apartment floor for the third night that week. The sky outside was pitch black, and the tower was mostly quiet, but not Riley. He hummed softly and tunelessly to himself as he worked, taking comfort in the clean swipe of his mop over the floor, and the shine reflected in the lights from outside the window; he had turned all the lights in his apartment off. In any case, he could still see clearly - peak human senses had their positives outside of battle.

"Mr. Barton?"

At J.A.R.V.I.S.'s voice, Riley's mop stilled, and he glanced up. "J.A.R.V.I.S. Is something up?"

"I'm afraid so, sir. Your mentors request that you be at sub-level 23 in 15 minutes, with everything you require for battle."

"I got it. Thanks, J.A.R.V.I.S." Sighing, Riley left the mop and bucket in the bathroom, and grabbed his bow and filled quiver, strapping them to his back, pulling his protective vest on under his sweater. Its presence was betrayed by a slight bulge around his chest, but that was nothing new. Trading his bedroom slippers for a pair of sneakers, Riley loped out of his room, heading for the training room.

The bright lights of the training room hit Riley's eyes, and he instinctively raised a hand to shield them, wincing slightly. He might have been awake, but that didn't mean that the brightness was something he was already adjusted to. "Hi, guys," he greeted, flashing a smile around at the room, still mostly half asleep.

"Riley. Please join the rest." Activity was already underway, he observed, so he joined the rest of the group, wondering what Mycroft and Phil wanted this early in the morning. Some barely spared him a glance, but that was excusable, he supposed, given that most of them had been woken from slumber. "Jaxon. What's up?" he said perfunctorily, nudging the other man's shoulder lightly with a fist.

The TV's music became intense as Conrad watched with wide eyes as Simba's father fell to his death. A pillow was held to his chest as Scar smiled menacing. Conrad buried his face in his pillow, screaming into it.

"SCAR! That's your brother! Why would you-" A loud alarm went off, causing Conrad to fall to the floor in surprise. He looked around trying to pinpoint the source, finally realizing it was the alert bell. "Jarvis! ¡Estoy ocupado! ¿Qué es?"

"I am sorry to disturb your movie, Mr. Wagner. But your presence is required on sub-level 23. Your mentors request that you be present in 15 minutes and dress for battle."

Conrad glanced at the clock on the wall. 3:05 AM! He's been watching movies since ten thirty! Conrad collapsed on his back in defeat. He wanted nothing more than to sleep, but his movie collection kept staring at him until he popped a DVD in. He groaned as the alarm kept sounding off.

'Mr. Wagner, I was informed to tell you that your movie collection would be removed if you did not hurry."

Can you at least play Hakuna Matata while I get ready? Also, check if a red bull is in the fridge, please? I need to stay alert for training."

"Yes, sir."

As the song played throughout his room, Conrad looked for his uniform. His father had passed it onto him once he was admitted to Descendants. He smiled as he touched the red material. Conrad loved the original attire, as boy, with the pointed shoulders. However, his father wanted something more practical so the point shoulders were lost and the whole look was changed to be skin tight, while still being flexible. He would've preferred something more breathable, however, he was told the outfit made him look good. He sighed. Only in this skin. Conrad began his change into his other appearance. The shift wasn't painful, but it can be a shock to his team when he does it suddenly. Conrad stared at his body in the mirror, watching his mocha skin become a royal blue and tail sprout from his behind. His hands began to morph into claws and suction cups replaced his finger tips. His once brown eyes turned yellow, giving him a demonic look. He was a demon, half demon, but still a demon. Conrad grabbed his three swords, slipping them into his carrier belt, as he grabbed the cold Red Bull from his fridge.

"¡Gracias Jarvis! ¡Eres el mejor!"

"You are welcome, Mr. Wagner."

Conrad occasionally goes back and forth between Spanish and English, sometimes German. Growing up trilingual meant language slips often. As he left his amazing penthouse, he did his morning ritual. He began to speak,
"Vater unser, der du bist im Himmel
Geheiligt werde dein Name;
Euer Königreich komme,
Dein Wille geschehe,
Auf Erden wie im Himmel.
Gib uns heute unser tägliches Brot,
Und vergib uns unsere Schuld,
Wie wir denen vergeben, die uns widerfahren;
und führe uns nicht in Versuchung,
sondern erlöse uns von dem Bösen. Amen."

Conrad closed his prayer with the sign on the cross, starting at his left shoulder to his right. Thanking the Lord before and after training meant peace for him throughout the day. The power of prayer is something he has always believed in. After finishing his prayer, an idea went through the blue man's head. He teleported himself to the lower room, conveniently behind Mycroft. Conrad began to make faces, imitating Mycroft's usual serious face.

"Watch yourself, Mr. Wagner." Conrad quickly teleported on line when he heard Mycroft's voice. Conrad may be silly, but he wouldn't push his luck with Mycroft. Some of the team was already there. Frankie was sharing her coffee like the angel she is. Wren and Schuyler mouthing off like usual. Everyone else looked exhausted.

"Good Morning! Or evening maybe? Good whatever!" Conrad's smile was huge and a bit creepy due to energy drink kicking in. He stood behind the line, playfully poking Frankie with his tail. Mycroft and Coulson's disapproving look was enough to make him stop. Can't they have a bit of fun?

The flight from Wakanda to New York was relaxing enough for the prince. He had only arrived in his room an hour ago. An important dignitary from a nearby African country, who was trying to invade their borders, was visiting, hoping to make peace for underestimating the power of such a small nation. It would've been rude for the crown prince to miss such an important meeting. Thanks to his charming personality and keen intellect, an agreement was formed on borders. T'Chioke's father was proud as his son negotiated fairly, but benefitting Wakanda at the same time. T'Chioke sighed as he flopped into his bed. He was still on Wakanda time, seven hours ahead of New York. He couldn't sleep. Thankfully, he didn't need to since an loud alarm went off throughout his luxurious penthouse.

"Jarvis? Status?"

"Welcome back, Prince T'Chioke. Your prescence is required on sub-level 23. Your mentors as that you be present in 15 minutes and dressed for battle."

"Thank you. Please tell them I will be there momentarily."

"Yes, sir.

The black panther habit stayed in glass casing when T'Chioke left for business trips. The life of a prince meant plenty of balance between the hero side of himself. As he slipped on the suit, he sighed. When was the last time I did something for myself? The Black Panther and Prince of Wakanda took up most of his time, leaving no time for T'Chioke. Leaving Wakanda to study wasn't even for himself. The idea of leaving Wakanda for educational purposes is a new idea, only done by T'Chioke's father and himself. The original idea for attending Descendants was to have powerful allies, should Wakanda need them, and to become a better prince and panther, no other reason was enough. Wakanda comes first, always has. T'Chioke glanced into his mirror, the vibranium suit shined under the lighting as did the helmet he was holding. He slipped on his clawed gloves before exiting his penthouse. Today is another busy day.

When T'Chioke arrived in the training room, he appeared pleased while secretly disappointed Xavier hadn't arrived yet. Besides Conrad, T'Chioke wasn't genuinely close with anyone at the academy. This was due to T'Chioke though. He wasn't sure who to trust just yet. T'Chioke made sure to be friendly to his teachers. They can be your most powerful champion if you treat them well. Conrad had already arrived so T'Chioke stood next to him, leaning on the wall with his helmet still under one arm.

"HEY! You're back! How was Wakanda?" Conrad's expressive eyes made the prince smile. Conrad's blue form could be considered frightening, but T'Chioke saw the value in his friend. He wanted to know so much about T'Chioke's home country and it made T'Chioke happy.

"The same."

T'Chioke's vague replies never satisfied Conrad, but telling Wakanda's secrets is a big no for the future king. Conrad may have his loyalty, but his secrets are only for him.

█████████████████████████████████

This was probably one of the rare moments Arthur had actually found himself in a peaceful sleep. Of course, he was human so sleep was a necessity but he found himself getting less and less of it as the days dragged on in the academy. He didn't mind a little deprivation, after all sleep is the most vulnerable state a person can be in. Out of most of the students, Arthur's room was rather simple and small. He didn't need a lot of the fancy schematics that some of the students had in their rooms, and he kept his belongings to a minimum.

Of course, the one time he managed to be peacefully getting some sleep J.A.R.V.I.S had other intentions. Just as the alarm had a nanosecond to start, Arthur had grabbed the knife out from under his pillow and jerked out of bed defensively. He hated being awoken abruptly, he had a hard time trying to not to think that every noise and shadow he had heard wasn't his father ready to behead him.

"Terribly sorry for the disturbance Mr. Wilson, but they have requested you be at sub-level 23 in 15 minutes, full gear and all".

It took Arthur a moment to relax, as he tossed the knife back on his bed, pinching the bridge of his nose with his open hand. "Thank you J.A.R.V.I.S." He mumbled quietly before shuffling over to the light switch and flipping it on with a flick of his hand. It was like them to plan sporadic training sessions, but Arthur still hadn't gotten used to it. He shuffled over to his closet, trying to stretch as much as he could. Of course we have no time to warm up... or even wake up.

The contents of his closet were pretty sparse, a couple of normal outfits, training gear, and some things he had managed to steal from his jackass of a father. His fingers brushed against the Promethean armor, maybe a bit too much for a training exercise. He settled on one of his father's traditional suits, he hated the fact that he looked like him, but since Arthur had stolen it, it was more of a slap in the face for Deathstroke. He shimmied on the suit as fast as he could, but left the mask off for the time being.

Now to perhaps his favorite part, the array of toys that he had acquired over the years and the new ones that Cree had given him to try it. It wasn't often that they were allowed to use their own choice weapons, so he made sure to grab as much as he could. An assortment of different grenades and bombs, his trusty ballistic staff, and finally his precious Promethean Sword. She was like his child, and he treated her with the utmost care.

The hallways were particularly quiet as Arthur made his way to the elevator his footsteps echoing down the corridor. The elevator was surprisingly empty as he made his way down to sub-level 23. The second the elevator doors opened, however, he could hear the steady chatter of some of the others. The one that stood out the most was obviously, Wren. The red-head's words made him roll his eyes slightly, she never knew when to stop but he cared for her nonetheless. On this particular morning however, he didn't feel extremely chatty as he pushed past some of the others, going as unsociable as possible to the back of the line near, T'Chioke and Conrad who were engaged in conversation. He promptly leaned against the wall, tightening the straps on his gloves, through habit, and waited for whatever shit they were about to put the group through.

james kent

█████████████████████████████████

As a Kryptonian James never needed to sleep, to him it was somewhat of a blessing and a curse. While his father told him this was ample time to train or relax, James saw it as boring. Being sociable and nocturnal do not mix. While James still had the energy from maybe eleven monster drinks, his friends were completely drained. So he busied himself by watching TV, and other things that humans would've done. It wasn't like he didn't know human culture, but it wasn't something he was used to, well other than the farm life. His father taught him about the immense history and culture of the Kryptonians, while his mother occasionally watched the news with him to keep up on world events. When he left for the academy, his parents gifted him a cellphone, which he still was figuring out how to use. He mainly just used it to communicate with his parents and Frankie.

"Mr. Kent, sorry to disturb you but I have a request from the mentors. They are asking your attendance at sub-level 23 for training. Come prepared"

J.A.R.V.I.S.'s voice rang out, quietly in James's room. He could only imagine the distress of the other students, for being woken up at this hour. For him, however, it was no different than training in the day. "Thanks J.A.R.V.I.S" He said getting up from the large lounge that substituted as his 'fake bed' in his room. He wandered into the bathroom where he decided to at least fix his hair from the tousled black locks that it was currently left in. He ran some fingers through the curls, managing to get everything in it's place other than the stubborn, trademarked curl he had inherited from his father. No matter how hard he tried to get it to stay it always fell back into place.

'Come prepared'. That could mean a couple of things, but nonetheless he found himself getting into his suit that he modeled after his fathers. He wasn't a huge fan of the underwear on the outside, so he made sure to get rid of that first. However, he decided to part with his cape for today, while it helped a little bit with flying, a huge part of it was just the finesse of the suit itself. After making sure that he hadn't forgotten anything he strolled out of his room and to the elevator. The ride down was always awkward for him, as the strange, pointless music drifted out through the speakers. After what felt like a year, the doors finally opened to one of the training wings. James could see his mentors standing, almost menacingly, in front of the group of students who had already arrived. At least Phil gave him a friendly greeting as he walked in, "Mr Kent", which James returned with polite smile and nod. He knew not to step on the mentors toes, unlike some of the students.

His face immediately brightened however when he saw Frankie in line with the same sweet smile that she always had on her face. Unfortunately to actually talk to her James would've had to cut, or stand out of the line and he wasn't ready to anger either the half-asleep Ross or uptight Mycroft. He instead managed to give her a warm smile as he passed, "Hey Francis". He always addressed her with her first name, it was something of a habit and definitely picked up from his father. It was a small greeting but he at least he got to tell her hello, before abruptly disappearing to the end of the line with Maura and Arthur. He opened his mouth to talk, but after the look on their faces, he quickly got the idea.

Maura has a knack for moving her entire body around while she sleeps. So when J.A.R.V.IS. woke her up with a rather gentle beeping noise she found herself in a complete 180. Her head was near the foot of the bed while her feet were pressed up against the headboard. As for the covers and pillows, they were scattered everywhere around her room.

She rubbed her eyes, and sat up, a quiet yawn escaping her. "Good morn- evening? J.A.R.V.I.S did you dim my room again?"

"No Ms. Howlett, your mentors are requesting your attendance at sub-level 23 for training."

"This early?" Maura groaned, stretching to grab a pillow off the ground. "Tell them to go fuck themselves" She mumbled before smashing the cool pillow against her face.

"Well, I could tell them that rather, crude, sentence but it's all in our best interests that you attend. Perhaps maybe phoning your father will give you some motivation?"

Maura let out a growl of annoyance, and complied getting up off the rather soft, and inviting bed to her dismay. "I'm not twelve J.A.R.V.I.S" She muttered as she stumbled her way to the bathroom splashing cold water on her face. It didn't take her long to throw her hair up into a high ponytail and throw on some of her normal training clothes. Unlike most of the students, she didn't have any fancy super suits or anything of the sort.

"It worked though, didn't it?"

How could a computer be such a smartass sometimes?. "Thank you J.A.R.V.I.S.!" Her tone came out entirely fake, and although she knew he didn't have any feelings she wished he felt the same.

She saw a couple other students join her in the hallway but they were also lost in thought just as she was. The elevator ride down was rather quiet, but Maura didn't mind. She enjoyed the silence once in a while. However, the second the doors opened she was greeted by the noises of the other students who were lined up in the hallway. Wren and Skye, Frankie, Maura gave the blonde a warm smile as she passed, Tobias, Jaxon, and the others. She moved behind Arthur who had rather the same idea she did with being quiet.

Caitria gazed at her beaker, her blue eyes almost glowing. The transparent silver-violet liquid was relatively still, save for the steady stream of bubbles in the center of the beaker. The solution was almost ready to advance to the next step. Caitria just needed to add one more extremely vital material.

The blonde speedster slid over to her microscope, where a slide with a sample of her reinforced and "mutated" tri-polymer molecule mixture was waiting. Caitria peered into the microscope, her lip quirking upwards in satisfaction. Things were going very well tonight. In fact, everything was going very well tonight. It was almost too good to be true.

Caitria pulled the slide out of the microscope and headed to one of her storage closets to get the rest of her supply. This solution was going to surely improve Caitria's life.

Caitria grabbed her vial with the tri-polymer solution and slowly poured it into her beaker. The solution in the beaker - still silver-violet - gradually grew more opaque by the second. "Good," Caitria murmured under her breath, raising her voice to just under normal conversation level. "Soon enough, this solution will create a highly powerful sneak attack weapon capable of taking down J.A.R.V.I.S."

Caitria swore that the entire tower could hear the alarms.

"J.A.R.V.I.S!" Caitria hollered above the screaming alarms, her sharp and loud whistle drowned out in the noise. "It. Was. A. Joke!"

The alarms turned down considerably after that.

Caitria heaved a sigh. The lab was supposed to be quiet.

"How did you know I was here?" J.A.R.V.I.S. questioned.

Caitria groaned. "Nothing goes this well without a sudden interruption."

"I apologize for intruding, Ms. Allen, but your mentors request your presence on sub-level 23. They ask that you be present in 15 minutes and dressed for battle."

"Dressed for battle...wait...does that mean I can bring my improvised radioactive weaponry?!"

There was a long pause before J.A.R.V.I.S. spoke once again. "Do you mean to tell me that you have nuclear bombs in your possession?"

Caitria laughed. "Hah, no! Those are so basic...I've tried to update those in the past, but that experiment is on hiatus. No, I mean my other radioactive weapons of mass destruction."

There was another pause. "Please get dressed, Ms. Allen."

And so Caitria did. She changed into a black uniform that allowed for aerodynamics and flexibility. She wasn't the biggest fan of the Flash bodysuit; that was why she was attempting to create a new one with a better material in the lab. The blonde headed to sub-level 23 and saw quite the mishmash of students. "Students"...hmph. Caitria was 21, if she went to a regular college, she'd have already graduated. It always felt weird to call her peers classmates or students.

Andrew wasn't a heavy sleeper. Sure, he loved his sleep, but he wasn't that hard to awaken. Once he heard the alarm, he was wide awake, ready for a message.

"What is it, Jar?" he questioned the computer system. He could practically hear J.A.R.V.I.S. pausing.

"Mr. Mulligan, my name is already an acronym. There is no need to shorten it."

"On another note, thank you for responding quickly. Your presence is required on sub-level 23. Your mentors ask that you be present in 15 minutes and dressed for battle."

Andrew's eyes brightened for the wrong reasons. "You mean I can actually bring real, dangerous guns?"

"...I suppose."

"Awesome! I already know that I can turn my limbs into weapons, but I'm quite fond of my small collection of guns. Thanks, Jar!"

"Please, Mr. Mulligan, call me J.A.R.V.I.S."

But Andrew was already paying him no mind, changing quickly out of his pajamas and into his "battle armor." The brown-eyed symbiote evaluated his rather pathetic collection of handguns and grabbed a few random ones. Although Andrew was well-versed in the art of sharpshooting, he commonly used the weapons his limbs turned into rather than handheld guns or knives. For convenience reasons, of course.

Once Andrew entered sub-level 23, he saw Riley, along with a few others, such as Ross and Wren. Andrew, grinning as he entered, made his presence known as he headed towards his friends. Riley was quite different from Ross, but Andrew was friends with both.

thaleia castle

Image
parentage: punisher
hex code: #49a98a
outfit: [x]

Image

Thaleia sat there in her kitchen, back as straight as a board, her eyes cold and heartless. The walls weren't too decorated, but there were wine bottles and a variety of shotguns, handguns, rifles, pistols, etc. on display. While Thaleia did prefer to have her weapons hidden - in case someone attempted to invade her penthouse - she displayed part of her collection of guns and a few bullets for her own sanity.

While she had no problem admitting that she admired the combat skills of some around the tower, such as smart-ass Wren and others, Thaleia didn't understand their personalities or outlooks on life. For example, Wren. Sure, she was an annoying bitch, but she did seem happy in her own little way. Thaleia did feel bitter about how Wren could be like that so easily. To get through the day, Thaleia had her own coping methods. Everything night, at precisely 2:50 AM, her internal clock would wake her up and she'd go to the kitchen. There would be no light, save for a scented candle from Bath and Body Works. It was routine, habit. There wasn't anything too special about Bath and Body Works, or candles in general, but it was how it worked.

Anyway, Thaleia would come to the kitchen everything night at precisely 2:50 AM, with a single Bath and Body Works candle, and she would remember. She was human, but Thaleia had remarkable memory when it came to weapons and everything about them. That meant everything about them, from full weaponry use to sentimental memories. Only Thaleia knew it, but while all the weapons on display were high-grade military weapons, they weren't chosen based on their quality. No, crazy events have taken place in Thaleia's past, and these guns and bullets were important to every one of them.

Thaleia hadn't cared deeply about many people at all, but those-who-must-not-be-named chose their victims well. The group could've killed a specific one of Thaleia's enemies, and she'd be far more pained than if they killed one of her friends. Thaleia didn't have too many close friends, but she had a lot of people she would grieve for.

Had. Not anymore. Thaleia cared about no one in the world now. Sure, she would do her duty. She would kill the evil in the world. But just because Thaleia did something for (what she believed was) a good cause, it didn't mean she was happy. Far from it. The people in this damned school don't even know a fraction of it.

Thaleia's gaze flickered over to a bullet in the glass case closest to her. The bullet was rusted far before loaded it into a gun. The person she shot it with died from tetanus. Predictably.

Of course, Thaleia could remember how she shot it and the effects. But the part that seared into her mind was why. Why did she shoot the bullet? Could holding fire have saved Mark, who died in the next few days? Mark and Thaleia had a rather difficult relationship. They were "enemies", both cool, calculated, and making sharp jabs at each other. Despite this, Mark, elder by Thaleia was five years, did actually care about her in a...strange sibling way. Neither admitted it, but both knew, in the darkest corners of the mind, that the feeling was mutual. Like Thaleia would admit it.

Thaleia scowled as J.A.R.V.I.S. alerted her of its presence. "I apologize deeply for disturbing you Ms. Castle," J.A.R.V.I.S. said, "but mentors Xavier, Coulson and Pennyworth request everyone's presence on sub-level 23 in 15 minutes. They ask that you come prepared for battle."

Thaleia bit her lip harshly before nodding brusquely. She stood up in the calculated way she always did, and walked to her bathroom, where her desired weapons were located. While her sitting posture was always stiff and straight, her movements were fluid and calculated in a perfected grace - no misstep would be allowed.

Thaleia collected her guns, and went to her closet, quickly typing in a collection of passwords into a highly protected lock. She collected her grenades and some explosive ammunition, hiding it well in her clothing. Thaleia silently headed into an elevator.

The brunette's green-blue eyes always looked distant, yet at the same time, they clearly took in every detail. Thaleia had always believed her life was a huge paradox.

As Thaleia entered sub-level 23, she could feel the air around her get colder. She had that effect. People noticed her presence, and not quite in a good way.

It was just simply another peaceful, uneventful night at the Descendant Tower, the so-called academy where the succeeding generation of heroes, or villains, train to be the heir to their parents. Well, at least for now, it was as peaceful as it could get. None could ever truly know if merely seconds later, a meteor shower would be raining down on Earth or if armies of extraterrestrial beings from an unknown dimension would be marching on to invade our planet our not. In this universe, nothing is impossible, after all. With just a blink of an eye and then the world will face its' end before anyone could know it, so isn't it better to just enjoy the moment, uncaring of how the future will turn out?

But in the end, it was their job. Their most sacred of duties. To ensure that such scenarios will not be played out. And that the so-called normal people out there can continue to live on in peace, blissfully ignorant of the fact that their lives are always being hung on the balance. It really sounds like a pain, for them, isn't it? But it was of no big matters, each and every one of them simply have come to term with the fact what they were made of, and what they simply have to do.

Xavier was sitting in the center of his meditation room inside his penthouse. For those who are not well-versed with the mystic arts, it will look as if he was only meditating. But in truth, this is merely his body. His astral form has already left and was walking in the astral realm. It is impossible to describe how this plane looked like with just the languages of human, but as long as you are out of your body, all burdens suddenly become nothingness. There was no sadness, no joy, no excitement, no rage. Only tranquility. And true enlightenment.

He keeps walking and walking. It was not really walking, though, since there was no ground under his feet. And he finally encountered a familiar figure just up ahead. The very man who had blessed him with this life. "Yo, dad." Xavier called up to his father, who was standing, gazing into the uncertain distance ahead of them calmly.

"I saw you on TV last night." Stephen spoke up when his son walked up to him, "Looks like you're still doing fine without me kicking you into place, hmm?"

"You're not so bad of an old man now, too." Xavier replied jokingly, "How's mom and Sophie?"

"There's no need to fret about them. They're doing a better job than you, y'know."

"Heh, now you're underestimating your son way too much."

The two of them continued to converse in their nice father-son chitty-chat. Since the four of them are each being in their own separate places now, they have agreed to meet up in the astral plane once in a while to see how each other is holding up. Clea, his stepmother and Sofia, his stepsister, seemed to be busy with something now so they aren't joining the two males of the family. But being able to meet up with his father occasionally for Xavier is already more than enough. His family meant the whole universe to him, and he knows it is normal for him to continue to persevere, to the best of his abilities, to protect them and make them proud. Being a Sorcerer Supreme to him is simple just as that.

Suddenly, he can felt some distortion back in the real world, meaning something or someone is trying to reach out to his main body. "Well, looks like this is it. Hero's duty is always endless, y'know." Xavier said.

"Haha, tell me about it. Just go, son." Stephen replied with a laugh, "And always keep in mind that you're your daddy's pride."

"See ya around." He nodded and and bid farewell to his father before everything flashed up and he let himself being pulled back to his body.

"-ange? Mr. Strange? Are you there?" An automatic male voice thick in British accent bloomed throughout the whole penthouse after a blaring series of alarm, which was obviously used as a wake-up call for them. A rather rude method but the mentors seemed to have a serious liking for it.

"I'm here, J.A.R.V.I.S." Xavier stretched his arms and stood up from where he sat, "It wasn't morning yet, right?"

"Apologize for disturbing you, Mr. Strange, but the mentors are requesting you and everyone's presence immediately. Sub-level 23 in 15 minutes. They have also specifically stated you come in arms."

"Oh?" Xavier was actually a bit surprised at J.A.R.V.I.S's statement, before his lips curved into a bright smile, "My, my. Are you saying that they are letting me to use my arms outside the Mirror Dimension? I wouldn't recommend it."

"Recommended or not, it is their order. I am merely reporting what they said."

"So they wanted to let the beasts to roam freely and the hurricanes to go wild, hmm? I think I know what they are up to." Xavier said. J.A.R.V.I.S didn't reply because it doesn't get what he meant, "Got it. I'll go and prepare now. Thank you, J.A.R.V.I.S, your service is well appreciated."

"You're welcome, Mr. Strange."

With that said, Xavier headed to his bedroom and changed into another attire. Well, he doesn't fancy having a costume like the majority of the other descendants here. His dressing code is simply to impress others, as no matter how verbosely he dresses, it wouldn't affect his spellcasting much. When he is done, Xavier put on his Sling Ring, "Say, J.A.R.V.I.S, is it okay if I open a portal to get there instead of taking the elevator?"

"Be my guest, Mr. Strange, but wasn't you supposed to be armed?"

"I am armed, thank you for your concern." He replied as he traced his arms in a circular motion. A fiery portal was slowly conjured, showing the sub-level 23, where the mentors and some of the other descendants were standing. Of course, this was quite an entrance, so it caught the attention of everyone almost instantly.

"It was a nice evening, wasn't it? My dear mentors." Xavier greeted as he calmly walked through the portal, and it disappeared as quick as it appeared, "I hope you are ready for the whirlwinds to spin."

He then glimpsed through the line of attendees that have arrived and greeted those whom he knows well, which includes Wren, Frankie, Ross, T'Chioke, Jaxon, Conrad and Schuyler. He then stood in line, just behind Caitria, someone who, likes him, is not the most trustworthy person around, "Hello, Caitria, my dear. The breezes of the night are calming to you?" He asked her in his usual style of speech. There are still plenty of them who hadn't turned up yet so it's best to converse a bit to keep things from stalling.

Even Astrid grumbled to the intrusion on her sleep.
“Pardon me Miss Rogers but your presence is expected on sub-level 23 in 15 minutes. It is also advised you come prepared for battle.” But that b word - battle and war had an effect on her mind and body that coursed adrenaline through her and made her feel defensive of the academy, of herself and everything she stood and fought for. The only way they were going to learn was by applying themselves and treating it as real as possible, she understood that. And with Mycroft on the loose, that was easily accomplished. He didn't exactly leave much to the imagination.

Astrid didn't argue with the poor AI that endured more backchat than anyone had to, but replied with a simple “Okay,” and moved for the wardrobe to suit up. Even though it was in a slow sort of fashion. She tied her hair in a tight ponytail through a yawn and grabbed her shield. She hesitated at the door of her penthouse. “Weapons?”
“That is for you to decide.” J.A.R.V.I.S answered.
Astrid rolled over the option for some time. Too long in fact before she stepped forward and out her door. She traveled to sub-level 23 trying to conjure an energy she couldn't quite reach on the journey there.

The shield was firm in her grip and she saw her peers lined up. A few in fact making her one of the less punctual. Doubting they were doing it for fun, she fell in the back of the line automatically.
“Morning,” she greeted to anyone that heard it.
“Good morning, sunshine.” Lilith's voice emerged from behind her causing her to turn. “Today might be that day you have to toss somebody off a building.”
“I doubt that,” Astrid said seeing the likelihood as a joke and smiled.

An alarm sounded through her sanctuary and Lilith hugged her pillow tighter. When it was obvious it wasn't about to seize, Lilith peaked an eye open.
“What is happening?”
“Nothing personal Miss Isley. You and others are expected at sub-level 23 in 15 minutes prepared for battle.” J.A.R.V.I.S informed.
She took a glance at her clock then turned away in denial. “Why?” She protested.
For some time the AI was quiet. Lilith thought it had left in the best possible sense. “I detect that may a be a rhetorical question.”
Lilith turned onto her back and sighed with an arm resting across her stomach contemplating her life as it was and how, had she refused the academy she could work on her own hours. But training would have been less or nonexistent and so she might not have reached her potential.
“I am authorized to do any means of motivation, Miss Isley.”
To that she sighed and scowled and threw her blankets off. “Relax. I'm up,” she assured.

She twiddled her fingers in passing Wren and nodded to others she had a fine connection with then slipped in line behind Astrid.

“But honestly, Astrid, if it comes to your life you're still not going to kill somebody who would kill you in the blink of an eye?” She asked softly looking into her blues for the soul answer. Lilith wasn't antagonizing her or pushing her, at least not deliberately but genuinely curious.
“I feel like we've been through this. No. There's such thing as redemption and second chances and they can pay off.” Lilith arched a brow prompting her to carry on. “Say somebody never really had the option to do good and it's their only way of life. Loyalty can be earned. Circumstances and upbringing can herd people into other directions but give them a chance and they can do amazing things.”
Lilith leaned against the wall smiling and nodding to show her understanding of Astrid's viewpoint. “It's a good thing you can stand your own. That moral compass may be your demise.”
Astrid smiled again and shrugged. “Then it shouldn't effect you sweet Lily.”
Lilith was at first surprised by the sass she received from the captain's daughter then grinned. It was well played and oddly refreshing tuning both their wits up for the training ahead.

"By Odin's Beard! So it's true, this magical place in time when you actually don't speak, actually exists! They said it couldn't be real, it was only a myth!" Schuyler made her own obnoxious entrance. Surprise, surprise. Wren tried not to make audible gagging noise as she rolled her eyes, while the "Asgardian," Asgardian my ass, shook Frankie with her exaggerated shock. "Frankie, call the Daily Bugle! This front page news!"

Wren groaned, retracting her legs from in front of her so that her knees were to her chest. In a single movement, her hands pushed off the ground while her legs hoisted her up onto her feet. Her right hand slid her sunglasses up onto her forehead before she crossed her arms.

Frankie batted Schuyler's hands away with a half hearted laugh. "You're talking more than she is right now." Playful sarcasm from the blonde, but Wren liked it. She gave a bellowing chuckle, then pointed towards Frankie in an 'Ah ha' like gesture. Just to spite Schuyler, she decided not to say anything. Just give a smug as smirk with her arms crossed.

Her attention easily shifted from the aggravating wench in front of her to Liz who bee-lined towards her. Not surprising, Wren's mind was a lot more... silent compared to others' in the academy. Although its been said her mouth does double the work of normal minds, Liz still liked the relative silence she got around Wren. “I assume you are still awake yes?”

She parted her lips to answer but a different voice was quicker than her own. "Oh, she's always awake," Jack Murdock said in response to Liz's question as he strolled out of the elevator. Wren whipped her head around to glance over her shoulder in his direction to be met by a wink from the junior Daredevil himself.

"I sleep less than Schuyler showers," Wren added to Jack's comment towards Liz. "A side effect of my... spectacular stamina." Her gaze drifted towards Jack with a catlike sharpness. A suggestive smirk gracing her lips as she raised a brow.

"In fact, she just had popcorn for breakfast," Jack added as he continued past them.

Wren's flirtatious stature quickly faded as her jaw dropped slightly. She raised her right hand to check her breath with furrowed brows. "Damn his senses," she cursed under her breath. "And," she raised an index finger, "I don't think it technically counts as breakfast if I never went to bed. More like a late night snake."

Her gaze drifted over her shoulder back towards Jack when he spoke up again, this time towards Schuyler. "I wouldn't waste your time, Schuyler. The Daily Bugle isn't a gossip column. They have no patience for hearsay."

Wren snorted at the comment, unable to help but smile at the fact that Jack was only one who even slightly defended her against others' mockery. She tried to wipe the grin from her face as she turned back towards Liz. She parted her lips to speak to her current companion but again was cut off by someone else.

"Ms. Wilson, the exercise will be starting any moment. Might I suggest you finished getting dressed," Mycroft commanded in his snooty British accent.

She growled, rolling her eyes. "It's not like my tits are hanging out. Half of the sluts here wear less than this on a daily basis," Wren groaned, as she took her swords' holster off her shoulder. She held them out to Liz for her to hold momentarily. Wren then slipped her hands into the sleeves of her suit that dangled off her hips. She wiggled and shimmied her way into the tight red outfit, and zipped it up. Her right hand reached out and took her swords back from Liz, sliding it onto her back like a backpack. Wren didn't even humor another comment to Mycroft and looked back towards Liz. "As I was going to say... You look fairly awake yourself. Were you not asleep when the alarms went off?"

***

"Boys," Schuyler said towards him and Ross. Tobias tried not to scoffed or roll his eyes at the comment. He was the farthest thing from a boy. Him and Ross both were among some of the oldest students at the academy after all.

As more of his fellows students filed into the hall of sub-level 23, it was to no surprise most of them ignored Tobias' presence like he was a statue... A gargoyle that people walked past and barely spared a glance towards. That was until Petra joined the growing crowd. It was a simple nod of her head, but it was acknowledgement. The corner of Tobias' mouth curled up as he nodded his head in return towards his... niece. It's going to take awhile to get used to that.

It was then that Conrad teleported in behind Mycroft, and began to mock him behind his back. Tobias couldn't help but smirk and chuckle slightly when the uptight Brit knew Conrad was behind him the entire time. He couldn't help but wonder if baldy had ever laughed or smiled in his life. How someone like Charles Xavier created something so cold and heartless was beyond him. And why the academy wish graced with his icy disposition made no sense.

His fingers strummed along the top of his helmet that he held against his abdomen while he waited. Tobias let his mind wonder, not caring about the nonsense that carried on around him between the other students. If anything, he just wanted to get the exercise over so he could go to his room and attempt to sleep.

The ding of the elevator seemed to add more voices and chatter to the narrow corridor. When he happened to glance up for a moment to try and count who wasn't there, he met Lilith's gaze temporarily. He gave a slight nod of his head. No, they weren't the best of friends but they had a kinship over similar parentage, and what not. She wasn't scared of him, that was a start.

Sometimes Tobias hated how lonely he could feel in a room full of people. He was invisible in plain sight. Ironic, when he stood out like a sore thumb. The world would probably stop if he actually spoke up and initiated small talk with anyone standing beside him. He wasn't going to, but the thought of everyone's faces was amusing. His gaze followed Phoebe as she entered the hall and walked over to Jack. The poor girl looked terrified. Not that he blamed her. Each training exercise pushed them farther and farther until they excel... or die. And Tobias had a feeling that not all of them would graduate to hero. Everyone there should be terrified... But instead they're carrying on like they're in high school.

***

Frankie stood in her place in line, sipping from her cup of coffee occasionally. Every time the elevators open, her eyes brighten, a smile gracing her lips as she looked to see who joined them. Her delicate digits that were slipped through the coffee mug handle waved towards Petra as she joined them and stood beside Ross. They weren't the best of friends or anything, but Frankie always tried to make her feel welcome. Petra was nice, contrary to what anyone else might have thought.

Riley followed behind. Frankie gave him a friendly smile before he made his way towards his less than happy friends. Jaxon and Ross were definitely not the happiest when it came to being woken up in the middle of the night. Maybe Riley was trying to cheer them up. But what they really needed was a bed... or like ten 5 hour energies.

Frankie raised her elbow to lightly bump Ross in the side. The Scot nearly tipped over, apparently using the wall as a makeshift bed. "Jaxon, do you want a drink?" she offered, holding the cup towards Ross to pass on.

But before he handed it off, Ross took another large drink and then held it out to Jaxon. "Aye, 'll help... a wee bit, at least."

Frankie jumped when she felt a poke in her side. She quickly turned around, batting away Conrad's tail with a laugh. She went to go tickle him back, but stopped a few inches away from him when she heard Phil address another student. "Mr Kent."

Her smile only seemed to grow. Frankie's gaze was fixed on James, her right hand brushing back loose blonde locks while her right tried to catch Conrad off guard with a poke to the side. It seemed as though the young Superman's smile grew when he met her gaze. "Hey Francis."

"James," Frankie replied quietly. Her cheeks flushing slightly when he addressed her by her proper name. He was the only one at the academy that did that. And the only one who could get away with it. She watched him move to the end of the line, but diverted her gaze towards Maura who smiled towards her as she passed. Frankie raised her free hand and waved towards her before she too disappeared to the back of the line.

She turned around fully to face Conrad, making sure to keep an eye on his tail. "You look pretty... awake. Were you up late watching movies again?" Frankie asked with a playful smile.

Ross was so far... unbelievably out of it. Somehow he managed to find a way to prop himself against the wall just right that even when he started dozing off, his body remained standing. The occasional thing brought him out of it, people lining up near him, talking or when Frankie asked him to pass the cup of coffee to Jaxon. It sucked. Why they had to be awake at this time was ridiculous.

Usually he'd be chatting and bullshitting with Jaxon, Riley and Jack but he could barely keep his eyes open. Let alone hold a conversation. Just when he seemed to get into a good niche on the wall and allow himself to doze off once again, someone finally came for him. Not Jaxon or Frankie... And, of course, not Tobias. But him.

“You look like you need a pick me up.”

Ross groaned, not opening his eyes to look towards Cree. He didn't need to see her to know it was her. "Ey need a fuckin' bed." He finally cracked his right eye to see the bottle of caffeine pills she rattled before him. He moaned lethargically as he pushed off the wall and snatched the bottle from her hand. He dumped an unknown amount of pills into his palm before handing the bottle back and taking Frankie's cup of coffee from Jaxon. Caffeine chased by caffeine. This was going to go badly.

"When 'm more hyper than a toddler with a sugar high, I'm goin' to be yer problem Luthor." Ross gave a tired and attempted innocent smile towards his friend. "Ya may want a new mate." He chuckled, trying to rub the sleep from his eyes.

With a yawn, he raised his head and glanced around the hall. It seemed in Ross' fit of dozing in and out of sleep, most of his classmates had filled the corridor. But he couldn't help but notice the absence of a particular person... Abigail. Where was she? And why was it causing an unsettling feeling in his stomach that she wasn't there? She's just a rather large pain in the ass. Why should he care if she's tardy. He scratched at his head, looking back towards Cree, trying not to think about it.

Mycroft checked his watch again, before slipping his clipboard under his arm, holding it between his bicep and chest. He cupped his hands together in front of him before clearing his throat to get the student's attention. "Alright, simmer down." He waited cold and stoic until they all grew silent and gave him their undivided attention. "... Finally."

He took a deep breath and motioned to the doors on either side of the hall. "As you've probably guessed, this is a training exercise. Evil and intergalactic threats couldn't care less if you've had your full 8 hours or not. So you must be prepared at any moment, hungry, tired or injured to fight and accomplish what you must."

"I'm sure most of you are assuming this shall be another sparring exercise where we pair you off and let you fight. But we're beyond that now. That was to prepare you for whatever threat you may face, but now we are going to assess you. This exercise is the most realistic and likely of situations you will encounter thus far. We do not want you to take it lightly for we will not assess you lightly. You receive either a pass or fail. There are no in betweens or partial grades."

Mycroft looked towards the other mentors, and Phil then stepped forward. "As you all may know, a few years ago Captain America, Black Widow, and the Falcon... Along with others, faced down a threat of Hydra within S.H.I.E.L.D. During a raid on a particular Hydra base, we got complete scans of the facilities. Within each simulation room is an exact replica of said base. Barricaded, reinforced with hundreds of soldiers. Your objective will be to penetrate their defenses—" Phil's gaze did not fluctuate. "Not a word Ms. Wilson."

Wren groaned. "I didn't say anything... yet," she mumbled.

Phil sighed before continuing. "As I was saying... Penetrate their defenses, and gain access to their base. You need to get to their mainframe in the basement... Within there, there is a single manila envelope. You are to retrieve this envelope and return it to us."

Mycroft holds up his finger to silence everyone before they start speaking up again. "It is not quite that simple... So before you start acting like this is a cake walk... There are some guidelines. The envelope must not be damaged in any way, so blowing up the facility is not an option. We'll allow folding it to put in a pack or pocket... But burns, tears, water damage, etc. are unacceptable. You also may not open the envelope. The contents are highly secretive and delicate."

Phil cleared his throat before continuing on. "You may accomplish this task however you see fit. If that be through stealth or brute force. There are no hostages or innocents. If you are seen by anyone you must eliminate the threat. And if the alarms go off, you cannot leave until every threat has been terminated. In a mission of high sensitivity you can not leave any loose ends because it could compromise you, your loved ones and the academy."

Alfred gave a warm smile. "Lastly, you may tackle this mission on your own or you may partner up with another student of your choosing. Both options have merit but if you work along side someone else, please know that you must work as a team. 50/50 and together. Your grade will be no different going at it solo or in a partnership, but do choose your partners wisely if that is the route you decide to take. There is no time limit... but the longer you take, the more likely you will be discovered or fail. But I do suggest beating sunrise."

Wren stood there with her arms crossed and lips pursed. "That's it? Just stroll in there, take a stupid fucking envelope and leave?" Cold sarcasm was dripping from every word. "This is what we were brought here for?"

Mycroft stepped forward unamused. "Ms. Wilson it took all of the avengers to infiltrate a Hydra base in Sokovia. Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye and the Hulk... Easy is being allowed to spar your fellow classmates without lethal weapons, being allowed to stop before death."

She rolled her eyes pushing off the wall. "Do we get anything for completing it first?"

"You can go to bed sooner than everyone else."

Wren snorted and rolled her eyes. Her right hand placed her mask in her mouth as she walked past the mentors. She twisted her braid and held it in place against her skull. Then with her other hand, took her mask and put it on. She weaved her way through the other Descendants, making her way to a door at the farthest end of the hall. As she walked she tightened her weapons holsters and adjusted them on her. She stopped in front of the door and proceeded to check the clips of her guns and turn the safeties off.

She glanced back over her shoulder towards her other classmates. Wren wondered if she should ask someone to partner with her or not. Of course, she could go in solo... Literally run right through the front door and kill everyone. The Avengers can't take 100 bullets and live, but she could. But Wren thought a friendly competition throughout the exercise with Arthur could be interesting. Jack would be able to keep up with her and could probably know what she's thinking before she says it. Those were the only two she'd consider partnering with, after all... They were the only ones who'd tolerate her for more than five minutes.

Instead, she stood silent in front of the door. Surprising. She figured if someone wanted to partner with her, they'd ask. If not... Well, then she'd have a blast fucking up those simulated Hydras' asses. Wren tightened the straps of her katana holster. Then adjusted the tight fitting red suit. God, did it bunch in all the wrong places.

***

Tobias stood silent like a shadow, listening and waiting. A Hydra base? Really? All he's heard of those of Hyrda are that they think they're smart when they're not. He'd bet each one of those soldiers have something metal on them. He'd be in and out before any of the other students reached the front door. He wasn't dumb enough to think that anyone of these Descendants would want to partner themselves with him. Most of them hardly ever spoke to him, so why would they want to partner with him?

He sighed, and started towards one of the doors on the far end of the hall. But when he passed Mycroft, the man's arm stretched out to stop Tobias. "Mr. Lehnsherr?" he asked, holding a hand out towards his Magneto helmet.

"You said 'come prepared for battle.' This is what I need for battle." He held up the helmet, holding it through the eye slots.

"All the same, I cannot allow you to enter the simulation with it."

"It's a fucking helmet, Mycroft."

"A fucking helmet that blocks telepaths... That is the way I stay in contact with all of the Descendants while in the simulations. How else am I supposed to know if I need to pull you out of it?"

Tobias shrugs, giving a sarcastic head shrug. "I don't know... I'm almost dead?"

"No simulation is going to read your mind, Tobias. They are a computer program, nothing more."

Tobias' nostrils flared as Mycroft wasn't giving an inch. He raised the helmet and slammed it against Mycroft's chest as he walked past him towards the doors down the far end of the hall. He stopped in front of the door, clenching his jaw. He removed his jacket and placed it on the hook that hung off the wall besides the entrance to the simulation room. He took off his sunglasses, slipping them into the pocket of his jacket before he began rolling up the sleeves of his shirt. He checked the pocket of his jeans finding two golf ball sized metal balls. He tossed them up into the air once before putting them back into his pocket. Come prepared for battle... For everyone but the son of Magneto. Bullshit

***

Mycroft motioned for the other mentors to follow him towards the elevators. "The simulation will begin in 5 minutes. The doors will open when its time, dropping you a mile out from the base. You have that long to choose partners or prepare to enter alone. We will be on viewing level the next floor up. I will be in touch telepathically... If there is an emergency need to evacuate, let us know." Mycroft didn't need to turn around to know that Wren had a question.

Wren let her raised hand fall. "Ummm... telepaths can't read my mind?"

"I have the utmost confidence you won't need to be removed from the simulation. But if you do... I'm sure your mouth will let us know."

Wren scoffed, turning her attention back to the door in front of her. "Good thing you can't read my mind baldy," she grumbled to herself.

The mentors disappeared into the elevator, leaving the students with a small handful of minutes to prepared and make the necessary alliances if they so chose.

Even simulations, Frankie didn't like the idea that she may have to kill someone to get an envelope. Seems like a steep price. She already knew she'd want to take a more stealth approach to hopefully get in and out without being noticed. In the event of this being a real situation, she wouldn't want to kill everyone to get a single piece of information. Everyone is capable of coming back from the dark side... No matter how dark. She'd rather them spend time in prison, thinking on their crimes rather than in death. In death you can seek penance and forgiveness.

She glanced around the hall of classmates mentally tallying whom she thought would be the more stealthy of options. Astrid and James had the same moral drive as her to spare life. James tends to stick out like a sore thumb, but coming in from the sky versus the ground is easier, quicker and under the radar. With Astrid, they'd have no choice but to spill blood unless they somehow got the drop on every single person they came upon, and knocked them out before they saw them both.

Maura would be good for combat but Wolverine and Deadpool both were never known for their subtly, so that would without a doubt end in having to take lives... Artificial lives, but lives. Riley would be a good partner as well, morally, but no matter how Frankie added it up in her mind, she didn't know how they could get in and out without being noticed. Conrad could teleport in, but if she remembered correctly, his father could only teleport to places he's seen or been to before so that wasn't certain. Phoebe is an amazing dear as well, good moral stands, again the issue of stealth.

Frankie toiled over the options in her head as she looked around the collection of Descendants. She ringed her mask in her hands as she slipped her way through all of the people, smiling towards everyone and giving them reassuring brushes of her hand on their backs. She slowly came to a halt behind James, lightly tapping her finger against his shoulder to get his attention. "Hey," she said with a warm smile, all too known to Frankie. "Did, uh... Did you wanna pair up? Or were you wanting to Superman it alone?" She chuckled softly.

"I'd totally understand if you wanted to... I'm just wanting to take a more stealthy, spare the people approach." She brushes loose blonde locks behind her ears. "I'd also understand if you'd want to pair up with someone on your level... Like Phoebe or Petra or something." Frankie's brows furrowed when she realized she was rambling and probably sound idiotic.

Instead of standing around and rambling out more reasons as to why she'd understand if he didn't want to partner up with her, she made her way towards an unoccupied door. She looked at the flat metal surface before her, mentally kicking herself for being a bumbling idiot as she pinned her braids on her head. With a soft sigh, she pulled her mask over her head and then lifted up the hood. Frankie then proceeded to stretch. Lifting a foot into her hand and tugging to loosen a quad, putting her foot on a bench and leaning down until her forehead touched her knee. She always has been agile and flexible, but even superhumans can pull a muscle.

***

Ross was too tired to care about pairing up or not. This student is good with this, this descendant is good at that. Who cares? He was tired, cranky and getting hangry. His plan? Walk right in through the fucking door, travel through his mirrors until he ends up in the mainframe, get the fucking envelope and get out. Anyone who stops him will be trapped in a mirror and shattered on the floor. Sounded like a solid enough plan for him.

He didn't intend to finish off Frankie's coffee but he knew she wouldn't mind. He'd make it up to her by letting her play pacman later, it was always her favorite. Ross swerved his way to an empty door. Once in front of it, he took off his back pack, checking to make sure he had all his mirrors and blaster. He took out the mirror blaster, checking to make sure it was fully charged along with a compact mirror. Women used them for makeup, but it was perfect for him. He always liked to have a reflective surface on him at all times. He then rubbed his eyes and slapped his cheeks trying to wake himself up before the doors open.

xxxSCHUYLER x SIMMONS

Outfit Hexcode:#700909 Interacting with: Frankie Parker, Wren Wilson, Conrad Wagner

When Wren didn't immediately respond, Schuyler wondered if she had a cold or something. he merely smirked with Frankie batted her hands from her shoulder's with a smile. "You're talking more than she is right now." She said and Schuyler merely shrugged. "Oh certainly, but I've never pretended I was capable of otherwise." She said with an 'I'm quite pleased with myself' grin. It when then that Jack appeared. She had a respect for Wren, something like a rivalry, but this asshole, she had no idea what crawled up his ass and died but the resulting infection made him lash out at her. He always had so fuckery to spew from his mouth that was hardly clever enough to merit Schuyler's respect. Wren was clever, Jack was not.

"I wouldn't waste your time, Schuyler," He said as he walked by. "The Daily Bugle isn't a gossip column. They have no patience for hearsay." Schuyler palmed her forehead. See, not clever at all. When she first got to Midgard, she took things quite literal, now, she understood sarcasm and irony as if she was born here, what the hell Jack's excuse was, she couldn't say.

"I sleep less than Schuyler showers," Wren commented and Schuyler rolled her eyes. "Come now, Wren, Darling, You can do better than that, Careful, we don't want Jack's 'wit' rubbing off on you." She said just as the hall began to fill with other students. She noticed Phoebe Prince and appreciate that she wasn't the only one in full battle regalia, everyone else wore some costume that while was built for their unique abilities, weren't very subtle. She was never meant to be subtle, she was a warrior, an Asgardian Warrior, and as was Phoebe.

It was then that Mycroft began to speak and Schuyler was all ears. She might be a certain way with her fellow classmates, but teachers or at least the teachers here always had her utmost respect. They were the ones to make her feel welcomed and at home. Without them, she'd have already lost herself to her demon. Her classmates thought she was bad now...they haven't seen a thing.

It seemed a simple enough task but the package couldn't be damage, she got the feeling there was much more to it than that. Was it really just an envelope? Or was it something they were calling an envelope? Something was off here, Mycroft said it was harder then it sound and that she believed, but she got the feeling it was even harder than that. These training sessions had as of late been putting Magic training in the Hall to shame. If Mycroft said it was hard, she expected it to be harder still.

She looked at the group and considered a partner. Teams of two would be much more efficient than going it alone, which would have been something she preferred. This wasn't a simple smash and grab. her first thought was Conrad. his ability to teleport gave him an upper hand but that only worked if he'd been to that room previously. She could teleport too but that was the same way. She needed someone who balanced her abilities. She was brute force, Her powers were better suited to head on attacks and diversions, she could hold off an army, so sh need someone who was better suited for stealth to counter that but who?

Her next thought was Phoebe but now, she was a vanguard like herself, so now. She skipped over Jack Murdock because though he would be ideal, his mouth would have him strung up on the hole before the damn thing started, besides the fact that she wasn't asking him to be her partner...he was too childish to understand the tactical advantages of them teaming up. Wren was too much for flare, she too was more of a diversion. Frankie was her next choice but then she saw that she'd chosen a partner, which was good, she chose Kent, which tactically sound. Whether they knew that or not, she couldn't say but it was still a good choice. Then it was Caitria, she was fast, which was grossly understated but still. She would be best for such a thing. She turned to Conrad though, he was her best friend, she couldn't not choose him and his powers while hey weren't as ideal as Caitria, they could d the job, it would just be a bit harder, and take a little longer.

"Conrad!" She called to him, striding up to him in all of her Asgardian glory. "Team up?" She asked with a smirk.

Plot twist. So they wouldn't be sparring each other after all. Instead, the sleepy students of Descendant Academy would be partaking in something much more interesting: a military base-themed scavenger hunt complete with barricaded defenses, hundreds of soldiers, and no hostages.

Jack couldn't stop himself from smiling.

With his powers, this would be a cake-walk in the picnic park.

"That's it? Just stroll in there, take a stupid fucking envelope and leave?" Wren was just as surprised as he was. And maybe just as pissed. "This is what we were brought here for?"

Mycroft stepped forward.

True. Then again, none of those Avengers had a radar sense that could tell them how many soldiers were in the base, how many levels to travel down, and where that pesky manilla envelope was hiding.

"Do we get anything for completing it first?"

"You can go to bed sooner than everyone else."

Music to his ears.

Before Phoebe could even turn her head to reaffirm that they would be sticking to their famous Manhattan tag team, Jack waltzed through the crowd, taking his sweet time before approaching Wren Wilson's side. As soon as the mentors departed for the elevators, he was standing right next to her.

"Hey again, Wrenpool," he trilled, looking pleased as punch for a man with bags under his eyes. "Question for you...are you feeling like speedrunning this thing? Cause I definitely feel like speedrunning this thing."

He gazed down, spinning his red helmet in both hands. "Of course, you're more than capable of handling this yourself. It would be nice to have some backup though." He leaned in closer. "And with my senses, we'd be able to find that damn envelope in less than five minutes."

Sure, he'd have to put up with her prattling and unpredictability for a short time (and maybe he'd have to dodge a few taunts as well), but with Wren's brute strength and his way of mapping out areas, it was highly likely they'd finish the stupid exercise before the sun even moved an inch in the sky. And they'd both receive stellar grades. There was no likelihood of running into any surprises.

Except if the alarms went off. But it wouldn't come to that.

He extended his hand, feeling her body temperature, heartbeat and everything inbetween. He couldn't believe what he was about to ask...

"Partners?"

Well, she would've been relieved by the details of the exercise if Jack Murdock hadn't brushed her aside so quickly.

'Insulted' wasn't even close to what she was feeling in that moment. Apparently, six years of partnership meant nothing to him. Yes, it was just a stupid exercise, but he could've at least expressed his desire to team up with Wren Wilson before completely blowing her off. It was kind of like betrayal. No, it was betrayal. He knew her strengths and weaknesses and she knew his. They gained so much recognition in New York because they balanced each other out. Instead of facing another challenge together in confidence, he was leaving Phoebe to fend for herself in the dark. Horrible, considering she was still the new kid on the block.

He had even forgotten his cellphone, which was still stuck in her hands. It was like a bolt of lightning had surged through her body, leaving her paralyzed and unable to speak. Phoebe watched with a slack jaw as he nonchalantly chatted to the crimson-haired girl at the front of the line, not even looking back in her direction.

Well, so much for staying alive.

Was it possible to complete the exercise by herself? Well yes, it certainly was. But it was also likely that she could be overwhelmed by the 'hundreds' of soldiers Mycroft claimed were inside the base. And if an alarm went off, she was a dead girl walking. Going solo meant no room for error, and with how many knots her stupefied brain was twisting itself into thanks to Jack Murdock's Benedict Arnold treachery, she knew mistakes would be impossible to avoid. She'd have to partner up with someone else. It was absolutely terrifying, but it was inevitable.

Stuffing Jack's phone and earbuds into her sweatpants pocket, she mulled over the options. Her first instinct was to run right up to Frankie, but unfortunately the descendant of Peter Parker was already inquiring the aid of Superman Junior. It would be a felony to break those two up. She saw the way they looked at each other. Anyone with half a brain knew they were like Romeo and Juliet but with spider senses and heat vision.

What about Conner? Well, he was also in the middle of teaming up with Schuyler, and Phoebe didn't have the guts to intrude upon their conversation. It was no use asking Ross or Caitria, since they both had powers that could allow them to complete the assignment without any need for backup. Ross had a mirror gun and Caitria had her speed. Teaming up with them would be to jeopardize their perfect grades.

And then there was him: the tall, dark-haired, completely inked man who stood like a spectre near the side of the hallway. She watched as Mycroft approached him, forcing the descendant of Magneto to hand over his signature helmet. Tobias would be a perfect candidate for anyone to partner with, there was no question about that. If the simulation they'd be entering was realistic enough (knowing Tony Stark's designs, it surely would be), then there would be a goldmine of metal for him to manipulate. It was all under his thumb: weapons, bullets, locks, vehicles, gravity. He could even control the iron within a person's bloodstream. Which, of course, was terrifying as hell, but particularly beneficial in this situation.

And she could be of benefit to him, too. Since his head was now vulnerable, she could offer him the protection of her shield and bracelets. He could probably even manipulate her sword so that it flew around piercing soldiers while she lassoed up the stragglers. It was a perfect strategy. It would be a terrible idea to waste...

She stared at him while he marched to the end of the hallway, placing his jacket on a hook and spinning twin metal balls in the air. He was standing just by the doors.

Say something...talk to him...

But the more she stared at his expression, the more she doubted herself. He looked vehemently determined - like he was ready to storm the base and complete the mission all by himself. Nearing him would be like breaking a runner's concentration just before the gun went off. Maybe it was fruitless to request his help. After all, he was one of the most powerful students at the academy. Asking him to partner up would also be to jeopardize his grade, which would be absolutely glowing if he ran the course alone.

Time was running out. Desperate and unwilling to take a chance, Phoebe frantically approached Frankie, hoping that her entrance wouldn't be an annoying interruption to her soirée with Mr. Kent.

"Hey," she smiled meekly, eyeing both her friend and James. "You two are going to make a great team!"

Her lips quivered as she leaned in closer to Frankie, lowly whispering in her ear.

"Um...so Jack had plans to partner with someone else...I don't know if I'll be able to do this alone. Is it possible...that, uh...that you might...have any suggestions?"

The mission sounds straightforward: get in, get the envelope, get out, all while being unnoticed. However, getting all of that done is another matter. The thought of doing this alone was not a favorable choice. Conrad likes working with other people and he hopes people think he's a good teammate. Looking at all of the other students, Conrad didn't want to choose. Each person had the ability to succeed with him and choosing one would be difficult. He would prefer the stealth approach though, but if it comes to it, he can fight. Killing isn't a goal for Conrad. He prefers stunning or make them unconscious. I'd like someone I can do this with. With his teleportation, he can only go to places he's been before or knows the layout of. He needs someone who can get the two of them in and he can get them out since he'll know the layout after getting the envelope.

Who to choose though? Wren, Jaxon, and Andrew were off the list. All three are too bold, lacking the subtly Conrad needed. Frankie is fun to partner with, but it looked like her and James were together so no for both. T'Chioke would be another appropriate choice, but... it didn't feel right to choose him. Honestly, Conrad didn't want to team up with him. The prince is a great friend, but Conrad knows the panther would rather plan the whole mission himself than listen to anyone else's ideas or suggestions. An X mark there. A lot of heroes here tend to ignore stealth so maybe he should decide on someone who can get them through their opponents.

He narrowed it down to three people: Schuyler, Riley, or Tobias. Magneto’s son’s argument with Mycroft over his helmet didn't go unnoticed by the mutant. Tobias tends to be guarded and not very trusting, but his ability to manipulate metal is nothing short of amazing. He can also sense when guards are approaching due to their auras, allowing Conrad to teleport the two of them to a safer location. However, teleporting takes a drain on his energy if the distance is large. His father trained him to go to four miles when traveling east-to-west and six miles north-to-south, double Kurt's standards. Teleporting can also drain Tobias though if the distance is too long. Schuyler and him both had the ability to teleport, but without knowing the layout of the location that would be useless until they got the envelope. She was better offensively than him, while not overwhelmingly. They both utilized swords for their fighting and Schuyler is a skilled tactician so attacks would be well thought out. The two-demon born have been best friends since arriving so working together wouldn’t be so difficult. Lastly, Riley is also a skilled tactician and his skill with weapons should never be underestimated. Yes, he wasn’t a very high level, but he could be powerful when needed. The two get along well so working together wouldn’t be difficult.

Conrad kept looking back and forth between the three. He couldn’t decide. All three would be fantastic. As he kept pondering, a voice called out to him.
"Conrad!" Schuyler called to him, striding to him in all her Asgardian glory. Her uniform always brings a smile of fondness to his face. "Team up?" She asked with a smirk. I guess I don’t need to choose now. He was relieved on the inside.
“I would love to team up! Dream Team right here!” Conrad held up his hand, waiting for his teammate to return the high five.

So, the Academy decides to toughen training? That was perfectly fine for the prince. He grew weary of sparring with his classmates over and over, feeling no benefit doing the action. A realistic mission would be perfect to assess everyone’s abilities and find the weak points. Choosing whether to partner up provided an interesting choice for himself. T’Chioke is aware he isn’t very liked at the academy. He’s viewed as untrustworthy and uses people for his benefit. All are true, but his reasoning was sound, at least in his mind. There are more important things in life than maintaining meaningless relationships.

The genius’s mind began to race, thinking of suitable partner. Completing the mission by himself wouldn’t be difficult, but partnering up provided a bonding opportunity between him and the person of his choosing. Who to choose is the current question. The son of Magneto was denied before the thought came to T’Chioke’s mind. It doesn’t take super senses to know the men don’t like each other. T’Chioke knows it’s only a matter of time before the supervillain’s son decides to take after his father. How people can trust him baffles the prince. Conrad would be a smart choice, but the two were already close. He didn’t need to bond as much with the boy, though he is fond of him. An indistinguishable situation with Xavier, too. It appears Frankie, James, Wren, and Jack have decided on their companions, not that he would’ve chosen any of them. He did consider Jack, being that he is a friend, a neutral one however. When his eyes landed on her, a brief smile appeared on his lips.

Phoebe.

She would be perfect for his plan. The goal of the exercise is to find the envelope either without getting noticed or destroying the witnesses. The idea of killing the guards wasn’t disturbing nor thrilling to the genius. The job needed to be done and if blood is spilled, it’s a part of the hero lifestyle. Casualties are present in any mission, planned or not. The prince learned that at a very early age.

Ignoring the painful memory, T’Chioke began to formulate his, and soon Phoebe’s, plan. While he could detect smells of any kind, an envelope won’t have an easy scent to pick up. He didn’t want to spend a majority of the mission searching for it so that’s when Phoebe came in. Well, her lasso would come in. The guards must know what they are guarding, at the very least it’s location. Naturally, the guard wouldn’t say of his own free will of the item’s location, but with some persuasion, and Phoebe’s lasso of truth, he’ll give up the location and how to get there. With T’Chioke’s intelligence, he’ll remember everything told by the guard. After gaining said information, her lasso would make the guard forget their encounter and they would send him away. The envelope would most likely be heavily guarded and, knowing Phoebe’s weakness for offensive strategies, T’Chioke’s cloaking technology will allow him to slip past the guards since he will be invisible. The envelope will be kept in his suit, since it’s near indestructible. After that, the plan is escaping. T’Chioke’s acute senses will allow him to detect any approaching guards, allowing the two of them to flee to a safer location. He’s aware Phoebe has a similar ability, however not as potent. In the unlikely event of a group of guards swarming them, the two are skilled to fight. T’Chioke’s aware he will take most of the guards, since he is more comfortable offensively, but Phoebe will make a respectable backup. The two should be in the clear unless any unexpected trials were thrown at them.

Deciding on his brilliant idea after a few seconds of thinking, T’Chioke made his way to the daughter of Diana. He stopped momentarily, seeing his potential partner speaking to Frankie. His chances were slipping every second the two of them talked. The spider was wary of him due to his odd nature when she tried to befriend him. He simply warned her of the dangers of befriending him if her motives were depraved. She began to keep her distance, somewhat, after that conversation. She was only proving his point with the sudden withdrawals. Phoebe is new at the Academy and an ally that T’Chioke is eager to have. He hoped she wouldn’t believe everything people said about him. He didn’t think of himself as bad guy. T’Chioke was doing what he needed to for his country. Surely, the only other royal could understand his thinking. The prince took a deep breathe, placing his most charming expression on his face before approaching the three students.

“Pardon my intrusion, but I was hoping I could talk to Phoebe. I’m in need of partner if you’d like to join me.”

"Hello, Caitria, my dear," Caitria turned to face Xavier, protege of Dr. Strange. He, like her, wasn't the most trusted person in the academy. "The breezes of the night are calming to you?" To be honest, Caitria always found it a tad hard to find a good response to Xavier's style of speech.

"I have no opinion on night breezes, to be honest," Caitria responded lightly, taking the question quite literally. "Is life going well for you?" However, before Xavier could respond, Mycroft had cleared his throat, grabbing the students' attention.

"Alright, simmer down," he waited, his stance almost rigid and his eyes stoic and cold as the descendants finally gave him their attention. His stance reminded Caitria of Thaleia Castle, to be honest. "... Finally."

Mycroft took a deep breath and motioned to the doors on either side of the hall. "As you've probably guessed, this is a training exercise. Evil and intergalactic threats couldn't care less if you've had your full 8 hours or not. So you must be prepared at any moment, hungry, tired or injured to fight and accomplish what you must."

You're supposed to sleep eight hours every night? Caitria thought. ...oops.

"I'm sure most of you are assuming this shall be another sparring exercise where we pair you off and let you fight," Mycroft continued. "But we're beyond that now. That was to prepare you for whatever threat you may face, but now we are going to assess you. This exercise is the most realistic and likely of situations you will encounter thus far. We do not want you to take it lightly for we will not assess you lightly. You receive either a pass or fail. There are no in-betweens or partial grades."

Phil took Mycroft's place, talking about how they got an exact replica of Hydra's facilities in each stimulation room. "Your objective will be to penetrate their defenses—" Phil's gaze did not falter. "Not a word Ms. Wilson."

Wren groaned. "I didn't say anything...yet," she mumbled.

Phil sighed, before continuing on. "As I was saying...penetrate their defenses, and gain access to their base. You need to get to their mainframe in the basement... Within there, there is a single manila envelope. You are to retrieve this envelope and return it to us."

Caitria had superspeed on her side. She was the fastest person in the Academy. This couldn't be so hard...right?

Unfortunately, Mycroft, like always, had to ruin it all. "It is not quite that simple...so before you start acting like this is a cake walk...there are some guidelines. The envelope must not be damaged in any way, so blowing up the facility is not an option." Caitria had to bite a lip to stifle her yell of "Goddammit!" She brought improvised nuclear bombs with her. Now the only possible way to use them is to calculate the blast radius precisely to make sure the envelope wasn't damaged in any way. "We'll allow folding it to put in a pack or pocket... But burns, tears, water damage, etc. are unacceptable. You also may not open the envelope. The contents are highly secretive and delicate."

The mentors continued their long speech of instructions, before they closed the lecture to an end. Caitria raised her eyebrows at the mention of partners, and started calculating pros and cons, strengths and weaknesses. Did Caitria actually need a partner? After all, she was incredibly speedy. If she was stealthy enough, she could zip through the base, grab the envelope, and zip back out without drawing any attention to herself. No one in Hydra was as fast as her (Caitria tried not to sound cocky). It'd be hard for anyone to keep up with her, since the Flash is the fastest being on Earth (well, there were problems with Reverse-Flash, but that threat was eliminated early on).

If Caitria did this solo, all she had to do was make sure to keep an eye out for alarms and threats in general. If someone did intend to attack her, Caitria was definitely not completely defenseless. Being known for superhuman speed made others forget about her other abilities. Caitria had calculated every variable for the perfect punches, kicks, etc., to take down almost anybody. Speed could be an asset in combat, and not just for dodging.

Caitria made her (relatively simple) decision. She was going solo, but if anyone wanted to team up, they would approach her themselves. Caitria knew that some of her peers were considering her as an ally, but so far, they've turned her away, and the blonde was perfectly fine with that.

Andrew was taking this partner thing very seriously.

So far, no one approached him. So he had time to think. Hmm...what advantages would his abilities provide, and what weaknesses did they harbor?

Andrew's powers were mainly offensive, considering the fact that he could form weapons out of his limbs, but some of his powers, such as his camouflage, provided a mainly defensive advantage.

Andrew swore that he literally considered everybody in the room.

Wren - nope, they were too similar, plus, Jack Murdock approached her anyway. Tobias - eh. Frankie - nah, she approached James. Good choice, though. Ross - he was totally cool, but he looked shit tired and ready to rock the assignment on his own. Arthur...the two didn't exactly know each other well. At all. Caitria was a good asset to have, but with her powers, she could probably seal the deal by herself. Thaleia - no offense, but did anyone want to work with her? Xavier was a cool guy, but something about him irked Andrew. T'Chioke looked like he was considering Phoebe as a partner. Petra was mainly an offensive fighter. Riley made a good choice, attempting to partner up with Maura (although it was a bit obvious that he was kind of scared of her, in a way). Andrew and Jaxon were definitely buds, but to be honest, Jaxon wasn't exactly the best choice of a partner for the dark-eyed symbiote.

Ah, Andrew was not good at this pros and cons thing when it came to choosing partners. He would try to succeed by himself, but if anybody came up to him, Andrew decided, he would definitely put them into consideration.

Image

To be honest, although Thaleia strongly preferred to work alone, she didn't mind teaming up with someone as much as she minded making friends. Many thought she just didn't like people in general, and while that was the case most of the time, if partnering up with someone was vital to achieving a goal, then Thaleia would suck it up and do so.

Despite that, Thaleia actually did have preferences in her life - most of them she chose to ignore for the "greater good", or at least, her interpretation of it. But the thing Thaleia was most picky about in life was people, no surprise there. Some thought she was just cold and unsociable, but believe it or not, Thaleia was cold for everybody's own good - and perhaps, out of a little fear. Thaleia believed she wasn't thinking completely rationally when it came to this friend thing, but the pure percentage of loved ones killed by the same group of murderers was simply astounding. Although Thaleia did kill people for a living - many complained about her messed-up morals - she hated it when people killed the innocent.

Thaleia never understood the point of killing her loved ones. If someone wanted to extinguish her will to do her job as the Punisher, they were doing a shit job of it.

It seemed as though many of her peers have partnered up already. Of course, all the good ones were taken. If Thaleia was completely honest, she wasn't exactly confident in her ability to fulfill this task. HYDRA was comprised of mutants, and as much as Thaleia hated to admit it, she was still a human. Her combat skills were astounding compared to other humans, but mutants actually had powers. Even though this was only a simulation, that lowered Thaleia's chanced at succeeding significantly.

But due to her slowness, many of the good partners were already taken. Thaleia may sound like a machine, comparing people as if they were tools, but that was just how she was.

Thaleia still had to remember, that despite her skill with weapons, she had no supernatural powers of her own. A partner would help substantially.

Thaleia's eyes roamed over the remaining options, landing on the most unexpected choice.

Tobias.

Yes, to say that Thaleia was surprised at her subconscious mind's choice was an understatement. But the choice was actually fitting, considering the circumstances. Sure, Tobias had no need to partner up with Thaleia, but she was going to ignore that for the moment. Most people avoided Tobias due to his social adeptness and parentage, not his powers. Thaleia didn't care about either of those factors, so she had no reason to avoid him. Plus, it wasn't like they were enemies. Thaleia may never be Tobias' best friend, but they were similar in a sense that actually worked. Despite Thaleia's distaste of being fond of anyone, she wouldn't leave Tobias to die, so she supposed there would be some form of trust in that partnership.

Thaleia didn't care what others thought of her; after all, if she did, she would be drowning in despair at this point. She also didn't have any fear of being rejected; if Tobias didn't want her as a partner - which would be the most likely outcome - she was just going to rough it out herself.

Before she knew it, Thaleia was approaching the son of Magneto. She wasn't exactly socially adept, so this might be a problem. "Hey," she started, rather emotionless, but not too cold. "Would you have anything against partnering up with me?"

The conversation between Xavier and Caitria was cut off abruptly as Mycroft - one of the so-called mentors spoke up and gained the attention of the lots of them. That man is rather notorious for being a rather moody and hard-to-please character, much unlike his father whom Xavier found to be a rather inspiring man. But, it's not like that he hasn't seen all sorts of people out there. An 'old' man like him may not be so young and wild like his seniors around him, but he is quite confident that he is somewhat more seasoned than them in terms of relationships and reading someone, even without his telepathic abilities. He can work fine with just about anyone, if this assignment requires him to, though usually he would stick to himself if no one else is up to teaming up with him.

Xavier stood still with his arms crossed as he took in every word from Mycroft. But this is not something that he didn't expect though. Having been in this Academy longer than almost every other descendants, there's nothing that he hadn't been put to gone through. This mission is quite simple. Infiltrated a simulated Hydra base within the simulation rooms that the mentors have set up - which according to them, strays not an inch from reality itself, meaning everything happens in there will really affect you, be it a small injury or losing a limb, and retrieve an envelope holding some sorts of secretive information that should not be disclosed. As the envelope must not be damaged, obliterate the whole base in one move is not a viable option.

"So, it's just another infiltration session, hmm? I would be lying if I say I didn't expect something more, but I welcome all challenges." Xavier commented.

He is fine with both frontal and stealth tactics, but if he were to take a whole faction head-on, it would benefits him more if the settings are somewhere in the outside air, where he can freely let his magic roams about. But, since this is confined in a base of sorts, sneaking in will be more suitable. With his powers, Xavier can study the structures of the base in matters of minutes, and his presence sensor can warn him of any threats coming up, keeping the number of encounters with the simulated Hydra guards at the minimum. The capability to tamper with memories come in real handy here, since Xavier would have no needs dirty his hand to literally eliminate any threats, though he has no qualms doing so if he must. Walking in like a calm breeze, sneaking out like a graceful wind. That's how he would work.

If he had decided to go the stealth route, going by himself would get him to the designated target faster, as he wouldn't be weighed down. But, Xavier is not that reckless. He needs someone to got his back should he runs into some kind of anti-magic zones, since Hydra would be well-equipped to counter pretty much everything. To have a view of what you are about to face is the first step to lead to success, after all.

Xavier gave an quick glance over the other descendants. While he has no problem working with just about anyone, someone who wouldn't shed a doubt over his abilities and coordinates will with him would be more favorable. Petra and Schuyler are two picks he thought of firstly, since, well, they belonged to magic team. But, since Petra would probably be busy putting her guard over him more than the Hydra guards, and her rather unstable powers might turn out to be a hindrance at the worst moments, she is off the list. Schuyler would make a good teammate, thanks to her cleverness and capability to be tactical, but she seemed to have already found another teammate, so she's also out.

He gave the remaining descendants a thought. So far, those whom he thought to work the best with him have already found their own halves, so he turned his attention to those who are less of a perfect match for him, but can still do a good job if they are willing to listen. Magic really did give one a versatility to fit in any situations, after all. Caitria can be hard to catch up with her speed, but he can teleport so it's not too much of a big deal. The same also goes to Conrad. Tobias is a bit of a wild card. The young man can work well with his capabilities and he is not as overly cautious as Petra is, so the two of them may fit, as tempting it is for Xavier to observe how he acts.

But now when Xavier gives it a second thought, pairing up with someone who is daring enough to gain attention, while he sneaks behind and finish off anything that might come in the way, clearing a path straight to the envelope probably will help them to accomplish their task faster. And, that is when Jaxon came to him, asking him to be his partner. Of course, he would jump at the chance, "Seems like the two pieces of the puzzles fit again this time, my dear Jaxon." He nodded to the younger man with his usual gallant smile, "Let's show them what we've got, shall we? I'm sure you will literally blaze a trail over those simulated guards, and I'd gladly got your back."

Wren sighed as she stared at the back of the steal door. God did five minutes seem to take forever to pass. She let her right hand drop to her side, pulling the pistol from her thigh holster. She popped out the clip, making sure it was full.

She froze holding the clip in her left hand, gun in her right when she heard someone step up beside her. "Hey again, Wrenpool." Jack fucking Murdock. Wren remained completely stoic, only her feet moving as she pivoted around to face him. "Question for you...are you feeling like speedrunning this thing? Cause I definitely feel like speedrunning this thing."

Her gaze fell to his red helmet that he spun in his hands. Before Jack continued talking, she shoved the clip back into the pistol. Her free left hand snatched his helmet and slid it halfway onto her head over her mask. "Of course, you're more than capable of handling this yourself. It would be nice to have some backup though." He leaned closer to her. "And with my senses, we'd be able to find that damn envelope in less than five minutes."

Of course Wren liked the idea. Why wouldn't she? But Jack's idea of speedrunning and hers... Were different... Very different. If Jack had even a sliver of what his dad had, there's the whole no killing dilemma. While Wade and Wren like guns. She wondered if he considered that before he approached her? Or was determined in finding one of the more capable students to be in and out in a jiff so he could go back to bed.

"Partners?" he asked, extending his hand towards her.

Wren snorted, cocking the slide on her pistol as she stared at his hand. "You do realize I'm as subtle as Santa Claus on the fourth of July, right?" She flicked his Daredevil helmet back like a baseball cap. "I planned on strolling right in there. Setting off the alarm, and letting those Hydra fucks come to me. Pow. Pow. Pow." She aimed her gun around in circles pretending to shoot it with every pow.

She sighed, slipping her pistol back into its holster. "But you're not bullet proof. So... I either go maximum effort with my swords, or you..." She hooks her finger in his utility belt as she steps closer. "Whip out a silencer from your batman belt."

Wren smirked, although it wasn't totally visible through her mask. She raised her right hand and removed his helmet. Then she placed it on his head, then slid her hand into his palm, barely enough room between the two of them as they shook hands.

***

Tobias clenched his jaw, staring blankly at the steel door before him. The metallic balls floating clockwise above his right palm. He just wanted the damned doors to open so he could get this over. He was so focused on his anger towards Mycroft and devising a plan of attack in his mind, that he didn't notice Thaleia approach until she spoke. "Hey," she said.

He nearly dropped the metal balls when his concentration was broken. Tobias partially turned, glancing over his shoulder at her. He was certain he probably looked similar to a deer in highlights. Not that he minded being approached or talked to, but he certainly wasn't used to it. "Hi?"

"Would you have anything against partnering up with me?"

Well, he doubted she was there to ask him how he slept or what product he used in his hair... Although he got that question a lot. "I... uh... sure. Why not." Solid response. In his defense, he was still surprised. "I didn't really plan on a stealth approach. If we set of the alarms immediately, you could take offense while I keep the fire power away from you. We'd have everyone dead before entering the building."

Tobias shrugged his shoulders, sliding the metal balls into his pocket before completely turning to face her. "Unless you had a better plan of attack?... You're not Steve Rogers or Peter Parker, so I assume you have no issue spilling blood."

***

Frankie slowly leaned over, wrapping her arms around her legs to stretch the back of her legs and back. As she stood there folded in two, she saw Phoebe approach her from the corner of her eyes. She smiled, but her mask probably veiled most of that from her friend. "Hey," Phoebe said, snaking up beside her.

"Hey there," Frankie said as she stood upright.

"You two are going to make a great team!"

Frankie glanced over her shoulder towards James with a smile, then looked back towards Phoebe. "Figured his x-ray vision could be useful... Or ya know, muscles." She laughed.

Phoebe seemed nervous as she stepped closer, and spoke softly. "Um...so Jack had plans to partner with someone else...I don't know if I'll be able to do this alone. Is it possible...that, uh...that you might...have any suggestions?"

"Hmmm..." Frankie looked around, thinking of who would be a good match for Phoebe.

But before she could say anything, T'Chioke approached. Frankie gave him a slight wave of her fingers. “Pardon my intrusion, but I was hoping I could talk to Phoebe. I’m in need of partner if you’d like to join me.”

"She'd be happy to!" Frankie smiled, giving her friend a playful nudge with her elbow. "Kick some ass."

***

Ross squatted down on the ground, removing his backpack. He unzipped it, slipping his sunglasses into it. He rubbed his eyes with a yawn, before pulling out his mirror blaster and a compact mirror the size of a cellphone. He closed up the pack and put it back on as he stood. Flipping open the compact mirror, he wiped it off on his shirt. Quick in, quick out. All for a bloody fuckin' envelope.

When he looked up, Ross noticed Petra standing a lone at the door beside him. He ignored it for awhile, sliding the mirror into his pocket and checking his mirror blaster to make sure it's at full power. "Eh red?" he said towards her with a nod of his head. Once he had gotten her attention, he took a step in her direction.

It wasn't like he thought Petra needed a partner. To the contrary, she could probably kill ever Hydra solider with a snap of her finger. But still... it was odd one of the weaker students wasn't chomping at the bit to try and snag her as a partner. Of course, Ross fell into that category. But that's a technicality. His mirrors gave him some abilities that even the supers didn't have. So, he was mortal. That just makes things interesting. He didn't need a partner and neither did she, but knowing that at least someone would enjoy teaming up with you makes it all better.

Ross cleared his throat, holding his blaster between his left bicep and ribcage. "I know ya don' need a partner. I'd bet you could bloody well destroy everyone with a wave of yer hand. But... If'd like someone to have yer back, you can always go in with meh." He gave a slight smile with a shrug of his shoulders. "I could get us in and out easy enough. Throw in your finger wiggles, we can be back in bed before they know what hit 'em."

With that, he nodded his head towards her and walked back over towards his own door. Ross' free hand rubbed his eyes, yawning yet again. He figured if Petra wanted to take him up on his offer, she'd com over to him. If not? Well, he'd do it solo then.

***

When the five minutes were up, an alarm bell dinged throughout the hall. Then all at once, the steel doors opened into the simulation rooms. The corridor instantly was flooded with blizzard winds whipping out from the rooms. The simulation dropped them at the top of a snow covered hill in the middle of a snow storm at night. Surrounding the hill is a thick forest that stretches for a mile before opening up to a Hydra base nearly the size of the pentagon. Twenty stories high, with twenty more sublevels. Over 500 soliders secured the premises on the grounds and throughout the building. They have heavy artillery, trip lines and men stationed at every turn. The main frame is located on the lowest level behind 3 foot thick bullet proof glass, no way in or out other than that door.

***

Wren clapped her hands together with a bounce in her step, before flicking her index finger on the horn on Jack's helmet. "Come on Evel Knievel, let's see those moves."

With that, she skipped her way through the door and out into the knee deep snow. Wren stopped at the top of the hill, raising her left hand to block the snow from blowing into her face so she could get a good look at the base. It was large... She couldn't tell how many were down there, but there was enough.

But instead of devising a plan of attack, a way of penetrating the facility... Wren yanked off her left glove and threw it into the wind. "Let it go!" She spun around in a circle with her arms spread. "Let it—" She quickly snapped out of it, chasing after the glove. "Get back you piece of shit!" She jumped up in the air, snatching it back and quickly slid it on her hand.

She looked back towards Jack, sifting her way through the snow in his direction. "We're... a mile out? We could try to hit the base from the back," Wren snorted at the pervertedness of her statement. "Or go right in through the front doors. I'll leave that up to you handsome." With that she hopped onto his back, piggyback style. Her left arm wrapped around his torso, while her right hand pointed forward. "Mush!!"

***

When the doors flew open, Tobias instinctually turned his back towards the wind, blocking himself and Thaleia. He clenched his jaw, reaching up and taking his jacket from the hook he placed it on. Turns out he'd be needing it after all. After zipping it up, he motioned his hand for the lady to go first. Not out of fear or because she expendable, but because, despite what people think, he is a gentleman.

Tobias followed Thaleia into the simulation, tucking his hands into his pockets. He trudged his way through the deep snow, squinting through the snow to try and get a good view of the base. He pointed his hand towards the building, then looked back towards his partner. "We could walk, take out a couple on our way... Or..."

He hesitated before speaking again, it was a weird statement that he was used to a negative response. "If you trust me, I could fly us there... You could pick some off with a silencer, or just blast away like Wren Wilson. I suggest stealth while mid air, it's more difficult to curve bullets and focus on levitating two people." Tobias raised his brows in her direction. "But I'll leave that up to you..."

***

Frankie turned her face away from the door when the freezing air blasted through the open doorway and hit her like a train. She raised her right arm to block as much of it as possible as her steps sunk into the deep snow. Thankfully her mother's suit, although thin, blocked a lot of the cold and wind, but that didn't mean she couldn't feel it. She wasn't sure if James would follow or not but either way it was a mile trek to the base... And swinging on webs through a dense forest is a quick way to turn into George of the jungle, and slam into a tree.

So with a deep breath, she crossed her arms, tucking her hands under them and started walking towards the bunker. Thankfully, her suit was partly white... That had to be some advantage right?

***

Ross tugged the beanie tighter onto his head as he walked against the strong winds into the simulation. Once at the peak of the hill, he studied the base. Luckily for him there were windows... Which meant reflective surfaces. He glanced back over his shoulder towards Petra, adjusting his backpack, tightening the straps. "The only reflective surfaces I can make out 're the windows of the buildin' itself. So, the minute we step through, we'll most likely meet dick heads 'n guns."

He pulled the compact mirror out of his pocket, staring into the surface searching for the appropriate window. "If we both go in opposite directions, we could take out who ever is in the room." Ross dropped the mirror on the ground, with the reflection facing upward. He shot it once with his mirror blaster. He glanced over his shoulder towards Petra, extending his right hand towards her. "Do ya trust meh?"

They pitched the exercise ahead involving penetrating a high security base of Hyrda's, abundant with enemies, hostile, armed and dangerous. If they made an error basically alarms would trigger and heat would swarm their way. Which was of incredible high intensity needless to say and they could either embrace the heat, going in swinging or a more stealthy option. Additionally, they weren't to damage the goods.

Astrid pressed her tongue to her cheek and lowered her gaze. She wasn’t bad at sneaking but it wasn’t her forte and there was always a chance of getting surrounded while trying to take it slow and steady. Contrast to that was the crashing and banging option and it wasn’t ever her style. Somewhere in the middle. One room sweep at a time so the journey back from receiving the "delicate information" was smooth.

She preferred to work with a partner for more tactical advantage and back up but if not than so be it. In some sense it would be better to do it alone so there would be no disputes of moral values and pace. Besides, what would it be like to report to the captain that she scraped through there as well.

Almost immediately did she feel bad for such a vain thought to ever cross her mind. She marched up to a door alone, fists clenching by her sides and having to run out the clock until the doors opened and get her head straight.

Once the steel door unlocked, white cold wind blew at her and she shielded her eyes with her arm and her boots sunk into snow. “Right,” she said and started the march towards the base. At the moment it was no more than a shadow, the details too hard to make through the storm at the current distance. But the closer she got, the more structured plan she'd gain.

Her heart sunk a little for Tobias seeing his helmet confiscated for the moment. Hearing Mycroft’s explanation, she got it to a degree but it was still unfair and beyond bad luck. “Tob..” she went to step forward and argue that they could pair up and Mycroft could pick her mind instead for the updates but he had marched forward in a bad mood. And even then if they split up, Lilith wouldn't know Tobias's state.

She leaned back to the wall blowing out her lips in defeat. Besides even thinking of it beneficially their powers wouldn't flatter each other. Then the voices in her head began to nag.
Astrid didn't walk off to someone nor someone approach her as Lilith predicted and her no kill rule was going to be her demise. Could she just let her favorite brunette march off without back up? Should she not consider her own benefited partner? Lilith didn't fancy any individuals that would be barking at her the whole time or somebody she'd slow down. Her eyes washed over her acquaintances of the academy partnering up and those left over. Caitria, Andrew, Arthur all of which she conveniently had...well enough relationships with. Arthur struck her as an impatient kind for errors or physical struggles as Lilith may experience and she wasn't in the mood to handle honest feedback.
Caitria...a good option but may be slowed down and despite belief Lilith wasn't an overly selfish person.
So somewhat hesitantly she approached Andrew. Not because she was unsure of him as a partner but his whole head space right now. “Would you mind if we teamed up? No obligation necessary. ” She assured.

A partner was a preference since in detail they didn't know exactly what awaited them but if she heard that classic dreaded 'no' word, then she was sure she could manage herself. Let her and nature run wild together.

Caitria saw a few people consider her as a partner - how nice, she was flattered - but they all seemed to turn her down in their minds. Good thing for Caitria. She wasn't a mind-reader, she didn't know why they stopped considering her, but with her speed, a partner may just slow her down. Of course, there were always a few exceptions. Xavier could possibly keep up with his magic, but Jaxon approached him. Caitria always thought that Doctor Strange was as cool as hell - nothing against her dad, though. But if those few who considered her eliminated her as a choice because they thought they were going to slow her down, then Caitria was sincerely flattered by their thoughtfulness. Not everyone was selfless.

The alarm bells ringed down the hall as the five minutes were up. The steel simulation doors opened and Caitria immediately felt blizzard winds. She grit her teeth. The cold slowed her down more than any of her peers could in a million years. She had to be fast in more than one way.

Caitria zipped through the cold. She analysed the Hydra building quickly; superhuman speed meant superhuman speed reading and superhuman evaluating. You get the idea.

There were many, many guards. But Caitria could move at the speed of light if she wanted to. Even if the Hydra alarms were that high-tech, Caitria could find the envelope and walk out of the simulation in less than a fraction of a second. The speed of light traveled at 299,792,458 meters per second, or approximately 186,282 miles. Caitria didn't even have to go near that fast to finish this challenge without batting an eye.

No, literally without batting an eye.

Caitria dashed into the building, into the basement, avoiding all the guards and soldiers. The mainframe was locked and sealed by a three-foot thick door made of bulletproof glass. Sure, the blonde could steal a key card, but the guards might notice the door opening. She had a more effective way anyway.

Caitria started vibrating, faster and faster, until the molecules of her body were loose enough to pass through a tangible object. She ran through the door, the guards not noticing a thing. The door was unaffected.

Caitria snatched the manila envelope, shoving it somewhat gracefully in her pocket to avoid it catching fire whilst she ran. The blue-eyed speedster dashed out of the building and out of the simulation, the entire process taking less than even a fraction of a second.

She sauntered into the hall, waving the envelope in the air. "I'm finished, Mycroft! What's my grade?"

If Caitria wasn't the first done, she'd be sorely disappointed.

Andrew, who was absentmindedly letting his gaze roam over the assembling pairs while waiting for the five minutes to be up, almost choked when he saw Thaleia Castle approach Tobias.

You couldn't exactly blame him. Thaleia Castle? Well, she was known for being the complete ice queen at the Academy. For her to actually approach someone, especially Tobias Lehnsherr, in attempt to partner up, was enough to blow Andrew's mind.

Andrew almost didn't notice Lilith head towards him, but caught her approaching at just the right moment. "Would you mind if we teamed up?" the blonde asked. Andrew almost did a double-take; he didn't expect anybody to request to be his partner. "No obligation necessary."

Of course, while some of the students were better off than others for this assignment (such as Caitria; Andrew was almost jealous of her ability to just zip into a building at the speed of freakin' light and head out with barely any effort), a partner was a good asset to have.

But Andrew had to wonder, what did Lilith have to offer? Sure, she was the daughter of Poison Ivy, but in the end, this Hydra thing was a simulation.

However, Andrew had to assume that her ability with toxins and poisons would help. Plus, unlike some people, he didn't thing in a purely logical manner. It wasn't exactly easy for him to turn down an offer, especially if it offered no disadvantages.

Andrew grinned, facing Lilith. "Sure," he said. "Why not?"

Abruptly, the alarm bells dinged throughout the hall, the strong winds blowing into Andrew's face as the simulation doors opened, catching him off-guard. He turned to Lilith.

"Ideas?" he asked loudly over the sound of the roaring winds, giving his partner a chance to suggest some things.

Tobias nearly dropped his metal spheres when Thaleia spoke up. He turned his head, glancing over his shoulder. Thaleia had to refrain from laughing; Tobias Lehnsherr was looking like a deer in headlights, and the expression wasn't exactly a natural fit for him. "Hi?" the son of Magneto squeaked out.

"Would you have anything against partnering up with me?"

"I...uh...sure. Why not." Tobias managed to crank out a response as Thaleia raised an eyebrow, not particularly impressed. Then again, she couldn't exactly blame him. Practically no one ever approached a Lehnsherr, much less Thaleia Castle, the daughter of the Punisher who was basically 100% antisocial. Two wrongs make a right, the brunette supposed.

"I didn't really plan on a stealth approach," Tobias continued, regaining his composure. "If we set off the alarms immediately, you could take offense while I keep the fire power away from you. We'd have everyone dead before entering the building." That would work, Thaleia supposed.

Tobias shrugged, sliding his metal balls - good God, that sounded wrong - into his pocket before completely turning to face her. "Unless you had a better plan of attack? ...You're not Steve Rogers or Peter Parker, so I assume you have no issue spilling blood."

Thaleia scoffed. "No one should have a problem spilling simulated blood," she quipped. "But yes, I could kill ten people in a row without batting an eye, as long as it's justified. I don't slaughter the innocent; it's not worth my time."

A few moments after Thaleia said that sentence, the five minutes were up as an alarm bell dinged throughout the hall. The doors flew open, and Tobias instinctively turned his back towards the wind, blocking himself and Thaleia. The son of Magneto zipped up his jacket and motioned with his hand, allowing Thaleia to go first. She raised an eyebrow, but had no real problem with it as she entered the simulation.

Thaleia trudged through the snow, blocking out the cold. Tobias pointed towards the Hydra building, before looking back at Thaleia. "We could walk, take out a couple on our way...or..."

Tobias hesitated, as if he wasn't sure whether or not to propose his idea. Thaleia gestured for him to continue. She wasn't the most patient person out there. "If you trust me," he started, "I could fly us there...you could pick some off with a silencer, or just blast away like Wren Wilson. I suggest stealth while mid air, it's more difficult to curve bullets and focus on levitating two people." Tobias raised his eyebrows. "But I'll leave that up to you..."

Thaleia shrugged. "Well, last time I checked, it was your dad who's evil, not you," the brunette stated rather bluntly. "No reason not to trust you, and I'm not squeamish." Thaleia directed her gaze to the tall tattooed man. "Knock you socks off. Just don't kill me, and this partnership'll work."

"Oh, so I'm your sled dog now," Jack retorted when Wren jumped on his back for a quick lift. But, he didn't throw her off his back or stop mid step refusing to go farther until she got off. So, how mad could he really be?

"Oh... I'm not that heavy," Wren scoffed, rested her chin on his shoulder as they approached the facility.

As they trudged.... Well Jack trudged them through the forest he began to divulge his plan for attack. "So if we could fly like Supes Jr., the most convenient way in would be through the roof. But since we're both landlubbers, I'd say the best way to tackle this would be to split up, then meet somewhere in the middle and go through the main frame together. That way we'd divide their forces in half. I know how much you love the element of surprise..."

When the snow began to get more shallow, Wren slipped off Jack's back. She walked up beside him, adjusting her inconveniently tight suit before hooking her thumbs in her utility belt. "Since you've made it clear your trigger finger's itching, I suggest you take the front. A lot more men up there. I'll quickly head through the back and ambush them from behind. They'll be trapped that way." He smiled towards her. "Sound like a plan, Wrenpool?"

Wren's hands grabbed her pistols. "Just remember you're not bullet proof lover boy." She would have winked to him or something else suggestive but she was wearing a mask so it'd just look like she was staring awkwardly. She started walking towards the tree line in the direction of the front of the base. She turned around, walking backwards as she added a final comment. "I'll try to keep the alarms from going off... But, don't worry. Your catholic boy morals will still be intact. It's just a simulation."

With that, she pivoted on her heels and sprinted straight for the front door. Surprisingly, Wren was able to walk right out in the open without anyone noticing her. She's in a red fucking suit. She raised her pistol and shot out the two immediate security cameras she saw on either side of the base. Every soldier seemed to freeze where they were and turn to face her. "Now that I have your atten—"

Then there was a gun shot. Slammed Wren right in the chest, throwing her back on the ground. "Ow! That hurt asshole," she groaned. She slowly rolled over onto all fours. Without even looking she raised her gun and popped one right into the head of the stupid Hydra dude that shot her. "Your interrupted my speech!"

Wren pushed off the ground, hopping up onto her feet. Then the alarm blared ringing a loud siren in her ears while red lights around the base began flashing. "Oops." Well, hopefully Murdock doesn't hate me forever. She pointed her pistols up into the air, shooting off a couple loud rounds to get everyones attention to the front. "Show time!"

It took a whole... 5 minutes? Maybe 6, Wren wasn't counting minutes, she was counting bullets. Halfway through the onslaught she had to switch to swords. She always seemed to either forget ammo or never pack enough. She stepped over the heaps of boundaries, grunting and groaning at the bullet holes in her arm, leg and more than a few in her torso. She skipped her way through the base with ease, making her way down to the mainframe. When she reached the 3 foot think glass door blocking off the envelope, she sheathed her swords and leaned back against the door, crossing her arms over her chest. Now to wait.

"Well, last time I checked, it was your dad who's evil, not you," the brunette stated rather bluntly. "No reason not to trust you, and I'm not squeamish." Thaleia's gaze drifted towards him. "Knock your socks off. Just don't kill me, and this partnership'll work."

Tobias gave a weak laugh. "I won't, as long as you don't draw too much attention to us in the air." He stepped up behind her, towering over her as his left arm wrapped around her waist. It was always best to keep one arm free incase he needed to divert fire, but having a hold of Thaleia made him control their levitation easier. "Hold onto your bullets."

With that he lifted them up into the air and then higher. Tobias made sure to keep them high and hopefully out of sight. He held tight to Thaleia as they closed in on the base, letting her do what she does best as he controlled their flight. But the longer they were up there, the more he realized they were out in the open, without cover or camouflage. So once he figured enough on the ground were picked off, he lead them towards the roof of the base.

Below them, Tobias could see seven guards standing at different vantage points, watching the ground around the base. "Don't make any sudden movements," Tobias told Thaleia as he released his grasp on her. He focused some of his attention at holding the brunette where she floated in the air, while he lowered himself behind a guard on the roof. His right hand hovered over his pocket, willing his fingers slightly while his left hand was aimed up at Thaleia.

Then what happened next flashed in the blink of an eye. The metal spheres shot out from Tobias' pocket and zipped through the air, knocking each of the Hydra men in the head one after the other. When the balls landed back in the palm of his hand all of the guards hit the ground in unison. Without glancing back, Tobias lowered his left hand gently guiding Thaleia down to the roof top. "Work our way down?" He motioned his head towards the roof top entrance.

Frankie had made it halfway through the woods towards the base. It seemed as she walked the snow only got deeper and the temperature colder. When she was almost to the base, her heart nearly broke out of her ribcage when she felt a hand grab her by the arm. She spun around, balling up her fist getting ready to slug whatever Hydra meathead tried to sneak up on her. Just before she would have hit him, she realized it was Nathaniel.

"Oh my god," she gasped, resting her hand on her heart as she tried to catch her breath. This time she intentionally punched him in the shoulder. Not hard enough to do any damage but to get her point across. "You shouldn't sneak up on people like that... I could have killed you or... Thrown you off balance." She laughed. Nathaniel was a walking wall and even with her super strength, she probably couldn't put a dent in him.

"There's no way I'm letting you do this alone." The towering man gave a faint smile while releasing her arm.

"You know, I am a big kid... I can lift nearly as much as you. And," she raised an index finger, "I'm more flexible." But she wasn't going to argue about having a partner or anything. Just wanted to prove a point that she could handle herself.

"Do you have a plan?"

"Actually I do." Frankie started to run ahead to the edge of the tree line that put them at the back of the facility. She looked out from around the trees seeing a break in the guards for maybe a minute tops. She grabs Nathaniel by the hand and placing him in the proper position. She pressed her hands down on his shoulders to make him crotch then guided his hands so that his fingers were entangled, palms up. "Launch me, towards that window." She pointed her hand at the a window up on the 9th floor.

Frankie backed up into the woods a good 50 or so feet back from Nathaniel. Then she sprinted at him, placing her right foot into his palms. As he shot her up in the air, she shot out webs on either side of the window and pulled herself even faster towards the window. With their joint force, feet first she broke through the thick glass with ease. Still mid air, flying through the window, Frankie released the webs on the side of the building and shot new ones to her right and left. The webs grabbed hold guards on either side of her. When she hit the ground, Frankie hunched over and yanked them towards the other. With a crash they both slammed into each other and were instantly knocked unconscious.

She gave each a tap with her foot to make sure they were out before she hurried back over to the window. Frankie leaned her head out looking in either direction. She didn't have long to get Nathaniel up before the guards could see him. "Brace yourself," she whispered down to him. Then she shot both webs down at him, grabbing hold of both of his shoulders. She braced her left foot against the window sill and gave a forceful jerk.

It'd be an understatement saying Frankie sometimes underestimates her own strength. She had to quickly duck down as Nathaniel came shooting through the window after her. She reached out her hands and quickly grabbed hold of him before he slammed into the wall or anything else that'd make a lot of noise or hurt him. "You ok?" she asked with her hands on his shoulders.

After looking him over, Frankie looked around then back towards him. "That's as far as I got with my plan..." She gave a quiet chuckle.

"Simulation, so I can't sense them," Petra said.

Ross could see the tension rise in her at the comment. Understandable why she'd take him up on his offer after all. When some of the things your rely on to fight don't work, it's nice to have someone to split the work with. He zipped up his jacket as he spoke, "Don' worry lass. We won't be here long enough to need it."

He waited next to their mirror portal with his hand outstretched. Petra didn't seem to hesitate as she came to stand by him and take his hand. "I trust you. Let's go kick some simulated guard ass."

Ross held tight to her as he jumped through the mirror, bringing her in with him. Once in the mirror realm, he didn't let go though. If anything he held onto her hand tighter making sure he didn't lose her within it. Everything around them appeared like shards of glass moving and shifting. Each surface showing a different view. One looks into a bathroom of one of the penthouses in the tower. Another looks out from the lenses of Mycroft's glasses. It was easy to get mixed up, confused or lost within the mirror world.

"This s'not a place ye liked to be lost. Bein' trapped in here... Without this," he held up his mirror blaster. "You'll n'er get out. Trapped forever like a fly on the wall, watchin' the world flash by without ya."

He came to a halt when many of the surfaces that surrounded them looked like different views of the base. Reflection off a sniper's scope. window looking out towards the woods. Puddle from melting ice. "No... No... No..." He thoroughly checked each surface trying to find which ever would get them the closest to the envelope. As he kept searching, he nearly passed a small sliver where two guards were standing. Ross got closer and could see past their shoulders a thick glass door and the envelope.

"There, he said, pointing at the envelope. Ross looked around seeing if he could find the surface of the glass door itself but to no luck. Somehow the surface wasn't reflective enough or something, but this would have to do. With his free hand, he took his mirror blaster and shot the shard that showed the guards and envelope. "3... 2... 1..."

Ross jumped through, pulling Petra along with him. The second they were through, he released her hand and went after the first guard. He threw his right foot into the man's torso, sending him flying back into the wall. He then yanked the guards helmet off and slammed it into the guy's head knocking him out. Ross pivoted on his heel, turning to face the other guard. He chucked the helmet at him, nailing the solider in the gut. As he was doubled over, Ross ran over too him and thrusted his elbow upward into the guy's nose.

The second guard slumped down the ground as Ross walked back over to Petra, hooking his mirror blaster on his belt. "So... Got an idea how to get us, in there?" He pointed at the 3 foot thick glass wall. "This would be a good time for yer finger wiggles," he said, wiggling his fingers at her with a sarcastic grin.
