Detached Strings

Introduction

Image
They wanted puppets, they created their demise.

They picked people who had nothing else to live for, those who would easily be forgotten. They took you away to an underground facility where you became the subject of many gruesome experiments. Why? Why were you taken away from your old life and forced to become a lab rat? They wanted to create the perfect line of assassins and sell them to countries all around the world. The experiments seemed to work at first. The subjects all began to develop exceptional skills and were compliant when it came to their intensive physical training. They underwent five years of accelerated training and the scientist were sure they had successfully created the ultimate killing machines. That was, until it happened. The subjects started behaving erratically and having psychotic episodes. The scientist realized something needed to be done, so they created Tamers. They're the only people that could calm the other subjects down when they started going Berserk.

Both the prospective assassins and their tamers didn't want to be used as dogs for the scientist to make money, so they rebelled. The scientist tried to contain them, but it was too late. The defective subjects and the tamers killed everyone in the facility before they could be detained. Within hours the underground facility was in shambles, but they were free, to do whatever they wanted with their new talents. The problem was, they didn't know how to do anything except that which they were rewired for, killing. And so, they chose to stick together. They took over an old warehouse, but their peace only lasted momentarily. The facility they destroyed was only one of many the many branches of the underground group. They sent out Hunters to find and kill the rogue experiments. Some of them did die, but most of them managed to escape. Now they have to run for their lives and find a way to destroy the twisted underground corporation or be killed.

Assassins;

-They suffer through sporadic periods of psychosis, known as going Berserk, that only their Tamers can stop
-They each have exceptional skills, rather it be strength, speed, agility, etc...
-The experiments they underwent also caused them to develop other, inhuman abilities that vary between individuals
-Their minds were erased at the beginning of their training, so they have no recollection of their past lives

Tamers;
-They are the only ones that can calm the assassins using different methods, whether it's saying a certain phrase or physical contact, or something else
-They also have increased physical skills
-They developed inhuman, mental abilities
-They also can't remember their former lives before being taken away

Just as Lindsey managed to get the knife out of the tree she hear...his voice. "Well look who we have here murdering vegetation." He said. She was actually half tempted to throw the knife in hand at Sebastian, but managed to restrain herself. How hard was it to find sone alone time here in this warehouse? It was supposed to be abandoned, yet every second she spent in it she was accompanied by another.

Glaring at him she said in a bitter tone, "Of course I'm having fun, I get to spend my time with you out here" She threw the knife at the tree again, this time even harder. He was now the tree, it was either that or she threw the knife at him, and she would never hear the end of it if she accidentally killed him.

How was it that he only managed to get on her nerves? He was liked by pretty much everyone in the group. She wasn't exactly a favorite, vut she didn't want to be. Still she didn't know how nobody else cringed when they saw him or flinched when they heard his voice. It was just so, she didn't know how to describe the anger that he stirred. It was as angry as she could get without going berseek it seemed. "How is it that your such a peoples person around everyone else yet I am the ONLY person that hates you? I mean, I have perfect reason to, yet nobody else seems to notice how annoying you are." She was just thinking aloud and figured she would probably regret asking, since he would find some way to make her want to kill him with the answer he gave. She decided to leave the knife in the tree, but couldn't help but notice all the other rocks and pebbles just lying around.
Where's a sharp rock?

Haine

"I need to get out"

Ember's voice brought Haine back to reality as he looked into her eyes and his lips curled into a toothy grin. He was dying to get out! He bowed to her, his left hand swept like a gentleman as his eyes shone brightly like a child receiving early Christmas' presents. He greeted her cheerfully "...Hello, Ember! You look really lovely today" He clapped his hands together excitedly "...When can we go? Can we go now? Can I kill?" He shot her hundreds questions, eager to get out of the gloomy house. He hated staying inside for too long and besides, his power was beginning to get out of hands if his temperature were any indications. He ran a hand through his messy hair in an attempt to look 'cool' and he walked side by side with his tamper. He didn't understand her for some reasons. Well, what was so wrong with loosen up sometimes? He knew that she always tried to kill in the least messy ways possible but what was the fun in that? What was the fun in choking a man or making him have a heart-attack? Wasn't painting the house red with his blood way funnier? Or maybe cutting his limbs into pieces was much more excited...Either way, his tamper preferred to keep her temper and her desires. Haine really didn't understand that. He would probably jump at the first chance of a messy kill and wouldn't be hesitant to rip off a man's heart. But he guessed that was what his tamper was for. To control his impulses. He licked his lips as he imagined how much fun he could have if he went outside this house. And it seemed his tamper was getting a little bit restless. That was good. If the girl gave him the permission to have a mass massacre, he would be a very, very happy man. He stiffened a giggle as he listened to her answers. Hopefully, Ember would give him what he wanted.

Sergio had finished the eggs and had his arms raised and hands ready to open a pack of bacon when a hand extended before his face. The thumb and middle finger came together in a muted snap as Sergio’s brown eyes rolled down the length of the arm to meet the stoic face of Devan. Out of all the people in the kitchen, why did he have to come to him? Did he not see he was making breakfast? Perhaps, it was because he was the oldest…

Setting the bacon pack on the counter, Sergio closed his eyes and frowned as he took a long drag from his cigarette to finish it off. He tossed it into the sink as it rolled along the steel and uttered a hissy extinguish as it hit a wet spot. With a grey, irritable sigh, Sergio strode out of the kitchen and went to Devan’s room. He removed his headphones on the way over and wrapped them about his mp3 player. Upon entering Devan’s room, he noticed Emilia lying haphazardly across the floor. The tamer’s expression lightened from its dark irritation as he walked over to take a knee next to her body. The first thing he did was press two fingers to her neck to check and see if she had a pulse. He then pressed the back of his hand to her forehead to feel if she had a fever.

Well, she wasn’t dead. Sergio looked to Devan and told him, “Take her to her room. She just fainted.”

If Sergio had seen her behavior, then he might have assumed it was due to stress, but he had his perception focused on the kitchen and parts of the living room. The circumference of his mind’s eye hadn’t been that wide to reach the bedrooms. Since Devan was her assassin, it was his responsibility to care for his tamer.

Seb made a small motion with his neck, sending the stray lock dangling in his face scurrying away, back to the safety behind his ear. Then he grinned pleasantly, which seemed almost eerie. Like a grinning cat, something one doesn't see very often. It was a natural enough look, but smiles just didn't fit Seb's face right. "Ouch, sweetheart, your sarcasm's stinging." He spoke in response to the statement, the one chased by a glare. She was so amusing when she looked angry. He stretched his arms indifferently. His spine popped a few times, complaining of the time he'd spent curled up or hunched over.

Amber eyes flicked over Monsowa's face and he lifted an eyebrow slightly, his grin fading one one side, leaving it lopsided. He took a few measured steps forward, his gaze flicking to the knife buried in the trunk of the tree. He considered his answers for a second, his expression waning sardonic before going stony again. He met her face again and deadpanned.

"There's a simple answer, Ladybug, if only you'd open your eyes and see it." he leaned against a tree, fingering the rough pattern of the bark delicately. "It's not me, it's you." he flashed a grin before dropping it easily. "Have you ever considered that perhaps your strings are the only ones I bother to tug because your reactions are so damn funny?" He was walking again now, nonchalantly towards the tree bearing the knife. He gently eased it out of the poor bark-covered being, using two fingers against the trunk to create pressure so he'd not have to exert himself.

Seb's fingers were nearly a blur as he spun the weapon expertly around on his finger, not touching the wasp-sting blade. He knew Lindsey prided herself on how sharp her weapon was and how well she could use it, which was the only reason he was messing with it now. He glanced at her, flicking his wrist in an off-handed motion; sending the blade right back into the tree he'd so carefully removed it from.

"You should be honored that I talk to you, Ladybug, I don't bother with any of the others." he shot her a devilish look as he deliberately turned his back on her to walk back to his tree, the one he'd been leaning on. Ladybug, he liked that nickname, perhaps he'd apply it permanently to the little lady, rather than using Scarlett, so unoriginal. He was no Rhett, so why call her that? Ladybug was true too. She was red with anger, and little. And a lady, oh, he shouldn't forget that. And she was irritating but harmless just like a little ladybird. Perfection. Seb was amused with his creative genius.

Devan followed after Sergio back to his room. He then watched the man carefully, like a student observing his teacher's every move. The youth frowned somewhat at Sergio's first test; he doubted Emilia was dead. Surely, he would have noticed if his tamer had died...? He was quick to not put any more thought to the notion as Sergio appeared to move on.

He stared blankly at the dark-haired tamer for almost a solid minute, as if he hadn't heard Sergio in the least... or maybe like the man's head had suddenly popped off, sprouted legs, and crawled away. Only when the tamer's words seemed to sink in did Devan's brows knit, and he shook his head dismissively. Why did he have to take her anywhere?
Because she was on his bed.
Why couldn't Sergio just wake her up?
Because if that was an option, he would have done it already.

A faint scowl crossed the youth's features. He didn't like touching people if it didn't involve hurting them. He cast a fleeting looking to Sergio as a last plea for anything else that could be done, but sighed defeatedly to kneel beside Emilia. He examined her doll-like form for a minute, possibly gauging how heavy she might be - which undoubtedly was not very heavy at all, thankfully for Devan, who was not especially gifted in the way of brute strength. After another moment's hesitation, he maneuvered to scoop up his tamer into his arms, then lifting back onto his feet with some effort. A vaguely unsettled expression hovered over his face while he carried Emilia to her room, not out of the energy expended in the task, but out of the alien feeling of all the physical contact involved.

Once he had reached his tamer's room, Devan deposited her more or less gently onto her bed. He then stepped away and shivered a little, rubbing at his arms not unlike a germaphobe haunted by the idea of bacteria. Hesitantly, his gaze wandered back to Emilia, checking if she showed signs of stirring.

"There's a simple answer, Ladybug, if only you'd open your eyes and see it."Lindsey couldn't help but cringe when she heard her new nickname. Ladybug? Scarlett had been bad enough, she hadn't even known what he meant when he called her that, she always it just assumed it meant something she wouldn't like. But ladybug? It was just...frail. That wasn't her permanent nickname now was it?

As he took a few steps towards her she stiffened, but he stopped, making her mind begin going a thousand different ways.
He called me Ladybug
He walked closer
He stopped
Why did he glance at my knife?

That was when he walked over and took it out of the tree. He flipped it in his hands multiple times and she actually began to feel the gun in it's little belt holster begin to grow heavier, itching her to use it.

"You should be honored that I talk to you, Ladybug, I don't bother with any of the others."
That was when she found a rock. Picking it up she hardly thought about what she was doing. She didn't notice as she gripped it the rock started to cut through her skin. She didn't notice when she threw it that it had drawn blood the same spot she had been cut before. All she knew was that when she released it, the flat part of the rock would hit his head. She refused to throw the sharp point at him, she had put up with him this long. If he dodged it she was going to be pissed.

Emilia Rae Marlen

Flying. She was flying, or perhaps she was floating. It seemed as if she had no control over her body. Around her, she heard voices, but she didn't seem to be able to comprehend what was being said. She felt that she should recognize them, but as she tried to make them out they faded away. Falling. She then felt as if she were falling, and it didn't seem to stop. As she opened her mouth to scream, nothing came out, her voice wasn't there - and she was engulfed by complete nothingness.

As Emilia sat up abruptly, the first thing she saw was Devan. "Are you okay? Have you eaten? They did save food for you right? What's wrong...you look..." She finally took a moment to breathe and look around, realizing she was in her room. But why was she in her room, the last place she had been in was in Devan's room. And she was on her bed, but why? It occurred to her how tired she had been, the sleep she hadn't gotten, how frustrated she was - but how did she get into her bed? But as she focused more on Devan, she was able to make out he had been the one who took back to her bedroom, reason being it looked like he had just touched some disgusting creature or was covered in germs so to speak. Like he was trying to get them off somehow. Her drained expression turned into a smile, "Thank you." she said softly. "I'm..so sorry, I promise it wont happen again." She felt bad, Devan wasn't exactly comfortable with the whole physical contact thing.

Emilia slowly rolled over onto her tummy and pulled up her pillow. "So after breakfast, I had these for you. Well, Sergio got them." She grabbed one of the bags of candy and placed it on what she used as a sort of end table. Emilia yawned and fought her current double vision, placing herself in a sitting position on her bed. She brushed her snow white hair out of her face, her long time shackles slightly jingling as she did so. She wasn't sure why she was the only person in the house that had them, or still had them, but she somehow had them transformed into weapons. She caught a glimpse of the mess on her floor and flushed a bright red color, apparently she didn't kick them all under her bed like she thought. "So did you eat yet?" she asked again. She then stood up slowly, pushing herself and refusing to believe she was too tired to function properly. She asked Devan many things, even though he wasn't one to talk. In her mind, she believed not talking to him at all would be worse and hurtful.

She recalled wanting to help with breakfast, and frowned slightly, twice today she couldn't help when she wanted to. "I'm just going to grab a plate." she said to Devan. She then walked into the kitchen, spotting what were eggs. Eggs, she loved eggs - eggs and bacon. "Ah...Sergio I am so sorry, I meant to -" she paused, yawning. "I'll clean up when you're all done if that is okay with you." she then grabbed a plate and placed some eggs neatly on it. "Please save me two slices of bacon? Or one slice of bacon - but if there is nothing left it's okay don't worry about it. And I hope you're doing okay..." she said to Sergio. Emilia then walked back into her room, hopefully some food would do her well. She felt so appreciative of Sergio cooking all the time, she always remembered to compliment him and thank him after meals. Though Emilia preferred to eat with everyone, and check up on how they were doing, she didn't want to be seen how she was now.

He notably flinched as Emilia sat up; having not actually expected her to move, he was startled by her sudden awakening. Another second, and he was assaulted with questions spewed so quickly he could almost envision them hurling past his head to smash against the wall. Emilia's flood of concern irked the wild-haired youth, and he stepped back, inching toward the door - but he paused as she seemed to slow down.

A troubled look crossed his face at her thanks, something like a faint scowl mixed with uncertainty. Devan didn't like giving people a reason to thank him, to say the least. On the occasion he earned gratitude - which was on accident half the time - he would often retaliate with violence or just acting like a pest, as if to make up for it. But Emilia frequently got away with her 'thank you's unscathed. Devan sometimes felt she was too fragile for even his smallest acts of malice. On one hand this made him want to rip her apart just to find all the places she could be broken, but on the other it made him want to avoid her entirely - as seemed to be his perspective on children: some things were so fragile the notion of harming them was almost terrifying, and because of Devan's overwhelming tendency to harm, he would thus be driven to avoid such things altogether. In his case, it wasn't so much any sense of morality that kept him from hurting children, but the keen awareness of the public uproar that would undoubtedly ensue from such an act.

Though harm to Emilia may not necessarily cause public uproar, there was still the group to consider, or otherwise... karmic backlash, or something. Besides, she was his tamer, and Devan had to admit it was good to have her around on the occasion he lost his head. That's what she was for, after all.

The assassin perked up at mention of a gift, his dark eyes alighting with curiosity. He watched Emilia pull a bag of gummy worms from under her pillow - which he was careful to make a mental note of - and set it down for him. Usually some degree of timid in his tamer's room, he skittered with much less reluctance to swipe up the candy, opening the bag then and there. He shoveled the first few worms into his mouth like they might disappear if they didn't reach his maw quickly enough. He chewed at a much more leisurely pace, however, savoring the candy. Devan offered something between a nod and a shrug at Emilia's inquiry regarding breakfast. He planned on having some of the bacon he saw Sergio making, if the other vultures hadn't wolfed it all down yet... but he had gotten that egg, at least.

When Emilia left her room to find breakfast for herself, Devan remained where he was; apparently as long as he had gummy worms, he had no motivation to go anywhere. At times, the 19-year-old may as well have been six.

Marx

Marx never turned his back on anyone unless he had reason to. And he sure as hell had reason to this time. Oh, it was painful, yes, but amusing nonetheless. He'd watched her become more and more angry, eying the rocks below before he'd turned his back on the little ladybug. The lanky form was completely relaxed when the rock smashed into the back of his head. She had a good arm, he'd give her that. A spasm of pain crossed his face for a second, but he quelled the urge to react. Small doses of pain could be beneficial to the body. He'd learned that in the place. He'd done exercises in ignoring pain and thinking through it, which he was doing now as the back of his head throbbed brutally. Awareness. Pain is temporary it shall pass sooner rather than later. Of course, the awareness didn't work with torture, that was a whole other type of pain, but for little blips it was perfect.

What wasn't so perfect was the little stream of blood dribbling down from his temple. Concussion? She'd got him right above where neck met head, so most likely. The blood vessels in his face had always been particularly sensitive to impact. It wasn't hard to bloody his nose, or do to him what was occurring now. After regaining his composure, Seb turned cordially to Monsowa. The trickle of blood had passed his temple and was now working on making it to his jaw. The edges of his vision complained about the whiteness nibbling at them. He'd need to get his noggin checked out later.

The slender form arched gracefully and captured the rock that had struck him. He gave Monsowa a semi-amused glance as he held the offending object in the palm of his left hand. There were some small smears of blood on the stone, not his blood but hers. Silently he reached up with his other hand. The lump wasn't too bad, or at least, it hadn't grown much so far. It promised to be a nasty little goose-egg, but it didn't particularly bother Seb. It was a trophy for him. Another triumph. He'd pushed Monsowa off the edge.

The male's fingers curled around the stone tightly as he began to speak. He didn't usually flaunt his powers, but it seemed apt at the moment.

"I give you props for the aim and the arm, Monsowa." He said, the grin creepily out of place on the pale face with the blood trickling down one side. "But you loose points for loosing your temper. I think that makes it...Marx twenty, Ladybug two?" He winked. Then his attention was drawn back to the stone as it shifted under his fingers. He was crushing it like it was a lump of talcum powder. The grey and rust colored stone was quickly turning to powder, to dust. He released it and then blow lightly, sending the newly formed cloud of infinitesimally small rocks on their way. Then his eyes flicked back to Lindsey.

"Got anymore rocks for me, cupcake?" the dark haired male asked, spreading his arms apart in a Christ-like gesture.

Oh, it was great fun to taunt and tease, despite the throbbing pain in the back of his head and the growing dizziness he was trying so hard to hide.

Lindsey didn't exactly know what to think at the moment. Yes, she hit him, but he didn't even seem to flinch. What seemed to suprise her the most though, was the spot of blood. Had she really thrown it that hard? It was hard to imagine Sebastian not going on a paranoid rampage if he thought he didn't look amazing. His features were always perfect, the blood seemed so out of place. She wanted to slap herself at that moment. First off, his features were NOT always perfect, that was a weird way to think.

Then she came back to reality when he examined the rock. She did too, and realized that the blood wasn't where the rock had hit him. She glanced down at her hand, realizing the hint of pain in it. Dammit, if she healed it he would notice, but if she didn't she would have to explain how she managed to injure herself without even leaving the warehouse. Both choices did not seem fun.

Just then Sebastian crushed the rock and she was glad that she had thrown something at him insteadof just putting him in a chokehold. Nobody was that strong. Then again, nobody could heal themselves and inflict pain to others just by a thought. "I give you props for the aim and the arm, Monsowa. But you loose points for loosing your temper. I think that makes it...Marx twenty, Ladybug two?" A smirk escaped her lips at that moment. She had just learned something about him, he only saw what he already knew. She walk up to him and said, "Two? Honestly, for a person as paranoid as you are I'm suprised that I have the chance to say this, but I think I'm catching up on the scoreboard. I know what makes you different Sebastian. You're stronger than everyone else, well good for you. But think about it, do you know what I can do." She gestured her hand to the warehouse. "Do any of THEM know what I can do? No, they don't." She turned on her heel and she walked away, trying to keep her composure as she left. Temper? I don't have a temper. I just kept my composure then no matter how much I wanted to insult him, or do as he said and find another rock. Plus he called me CUPCAKE! Uhg, how did I not hit him again?

Ember watched, her face revealing nothing as Haine gave a slight, gentlemen bow towards her. Aside from a slight raise of her eyebrows, she made no notion that she'd noticed it. Haine's eyes glowed with excitement, and Ember could practically feel his eagerness to get out.
"...Hello, Ember! You look really lovely today"
Ember, typically, ignored the compliment. She didn't particularly care what people thought of her appearance, as long as she was either considered intimidating or not to be messed with. Unknown or mysterious were acceptable observations too, pretty did not make it onto the list. Haine was practically jumping up in down in excitement and it appeared to Ember that in a way to control himself slightly he clapped his hands together, in what seemed to be a rather childlike manner. She regarded him silently, allowing her eyes to rove over his energy bound form.
"...When can we go? Can we go now? Can I kill?"
She arched one of her eyebrows slightly as he bombarded her with questions, running his hand through his hair rather arrogantly as they started to make their way out of the warehouse. As they walked out, Ember passed the notorious Alex, and couldn't help but give him a withering glare as herself and Haine exited. She couldn't stand the man. His outright arrogance, and knack of getting under her skin was enough to drive her mad. After delivering her glare, Ember swiftly looked straight forward, now purposefully ignoring the man's presence. In comparison to him, she was superior and she made sure to show the fact whenever he came within her perimeter.
Haine still was barely managing to contain his blood lust, that much she could tell as he licked his lips. He was honestly starting to get just that little bit annoying, Ember pursed her lips as she caught him stiffening a giggle. Finally, he seemed to calm down to some extent, and her black eyes met his own.
"We are simply going to the forest, and no you are not to kill." her words were clipped and cold as per usual. "You know why we can't, I can't afford to have the hunters after us"
Then again, she wouldn't mind him char grilling Alex. She continued to walk further into the forest until they were around fifteen minutes walk from the warehouse. She'd managed to gather a reasonable lot of dried wood over the last couple of weeks, in anticipation to Haine having one of his break downs.
"Go wild" she said simply, knowing he would probably be disappointed that he couldn't burn anyone. "Just don't burn the whole forest down"
She then found a nearby tree, and lazily sat down underneath one. Her rather full skirt sprawled elegantly around her, as she rested her chin on her gloved hands. Her long black hair hung in silky lengths down her back, soaking up the sun. Finding herself alone with Haine, she found her face relaxing into a rather content smile, waiting for the fireworks show. Truly, the only time she felt she could be herself was when herself and Haine were alone, no arrogant Sebastian, overly cheerful Emilia, insane Devan or smug, stupid Alex.
The sunlight filtering through the trees gave her a rather lazy, warm feeling, and for the first time in a long while, Ember found herself relaxing and allowing herself to stop analysing everything. There was something immensely satisfying about being on top of things, and knowing when to relax. She gazed over at Haine, waiting for him to relax too, and enjoy burning. No doubt she'd have to stop him from going too far, but at the moment it didn't particularly bother her. In fact, it might give some excitement to the rather strained, boring days in the warehouse. She felt empowered, sitting outside, away from the restraints of the others.

"Honey," Seb grinned as he followed her, his knees shaking slightly as he started moving. The rock had not been nice to his noggin. "You're more paranoid than I am. Why do I give a flying..." he paused for a moment to avoid explicitly cursing in front of such a dainty lady. "If they know what I can do or not. I don't care what they know about my powers." It wasn't a lie, but not a complete truth either. One should play the apathetic. "In fact, it should make them avoid me, yes?" He was close to her shoulder now, and his hand ghosted over it as he leaned forward slightly. His head was spinning still, and the rivulet of blood was soaking into the collar of his shirt. "Because they know that I could throttle them with a twitch of my wrist." His voice was lower now, an almost growl that rumbled with amusement.

"And it's enough th-" the lithe figure paused in the middle of a word as a particularly brutal throb had set his world spinning gently. He grunted in discomfort, a hand raising up to press the bridge of his nose. He halted completely. Hopefully she'd keep walking. There wasn't anything he could really do to prevent the onset of this most distasteful weakness, but it would better if he didn't have an audience. Seb wasn't much of a performer. He swayed slightly, and his face had gone a few shades paler, making the blood stand out a more prominent red.

The sticky fingers of the pain were inching their way up his skull, threading through the rest of his brain in a way that was utterly difficult to ignore. And the vertigo wasn't helping any. Perhaps sitting down would relieve the dizziness. When the thought crossed his mind his body took immediate action on it, dropping him down to his knees. He was utterly in his own world now, he couldn't tell if whats-her-face was still there or if she'd left or what. The lack of food and sleep added to the stress of paranoia and the rock colliding with the base of his skull had mixed to create this ugly feeling of helplessness.

His fingers were clenching the roots of his hair now, knuckles white with the effort of keeping himself semi-composed, and his body was going cold with sweat. Really he felt likely to vomit, but he was trying his best not to. Mostly because there was nothing in his belly to expel, and doing away with his stomach acid wasn't a very nice sight. Seb refused to do that.

Instead, the usually cocky male groaned softly, the sound muffled by his wrists, which were pressing against his face. Dear god, he'd do anything to make the vertigo pain stop. It was throbbing in his head and his belly as one, and it was forcing him to sway back and forth like he was heavily stoned or at the top of a very high unstable building. This time he couldn't hold back the curse, and a string of them left his lips in nonsensical order.

This was not good. And to top it all off,the blood, which was beginning to dry, was smearing all over his face, making him look like a gory cadaver.

He couldn't decide whether he hoped Monsowa had stayed or left. it was too close to call.

Lindsey was almost in the door when she heard his pauses start. She frowned and turned around slowly, only to find Sebastian on the ground. "Shit..." She said to herself. Leave it to her to let her anger get her in trouble with all the others. No, nobody had to know about this, but she wasn't going to be happy with herself once she had fixed this.

Walking over to Sebastian She bent down so there faces were level and sighed to herself. "In my defense you turned your back to me." Then placed her hand where the blood seemed to be coming from. She tried to ignore the blood appearing on her hand, but she pulled her hand back after only a moment to find it soaked crimson. Putting her hand back slowly, feeling the warm blood once again as she touched the wound. "Now once I do this you don't speak of this moment, okay? If you do I'm giving it all back to you." Lindsey began concentrating.

She felt the skin underneath her shifting and it felt uncomfortable for her, probably felt even stranger for Sebastian though. She never used her power on anybody else, so this was quite strange for her. The blood was there but now she couldn't feel any source point. Getting up she looked in disgust at her hand. "You bleed alot you know that?" She said, but was really just trying to hide her anger. She wasn't even angry at him this time, she was angry at herself.

As soon as Devan left his bedroom carrying Emilia, Sergio returned to the kitchen to set the strips of bacon in the pan. With a pair of tongs, he lined them up neatly and probed at them every now and then until they began to stiffen and wrinkle. Just then Emilia’s voice entered the kitchen. She had recovered pretty quickly, but it wasn’t like she was knocked unconscious. He listened to her apology and how should voluntarily clean the kitchen to save him the trouble—he was tired.

“Thanks,” Sergio replied plainly. “I am fine.”

He retrieved a plate from the cupboard and laid down two paper towel strips; and with the tongs, placed the crispy, dripping bacon on it. With the eggs, bacon, and toast—thanks to Sasha—finished, Sergio got himself a plate of scrambled eggs, bacon, two pieces of toast, and fruit juice from the fridge. He walked with his plate into the living room by the front door and took a seat at the rickety table. He began making a sandwich, piling the eggs and bacon onto the toast before laying the second piece of bread overtop. Smashing it down lightly, Sergio plugged one of his headphones back into his ear as he then raised his sandwich and took a crunchy bite out of it.

His dark brown eyes stared aimlessly across the space of the warehouse at the wall on the other side. The only thoughts that were on his mind were how long it would take him to finish eating, how much time would he have to take a shower and nap, and estimating the spare time he had left to make it to his job on time.

Marx

The slender male didn't hear the girl's words, but he did feel her hand on his head. His body froze, and his eyes flicked open. The amber disks were glazed with pain, but all the same they fixed on the blonde, trying to discern what exactly she was doing. A little part of his mind was flipping out, warning bells blaring crazily. Weakness, she is right there and you are totally helpless. Do something you idiot! The little bit of grey matter screeched. But he didn't move away. She was speaking again, and He was trying to listen.

Don't speak of it? Speak of what? Seb wondered for a moment. Then he discovered what it was. At first he thought he was imagining the tug he felt on the delicate skin of his forehead, but no. His skin was actually knitting itself back together. The male's eyes almost bugged out. it didn't hurt, per say, but he was beginning to really wonder if he was stoned. Well, he had been stoned, with just...one stone, but not that kind of stoned. High, stoned. The pain in his brain began to fade away as the skin continued it's slow merge back to it's original location, and Marx let out a soft sigh of relief. Well, relief mixed with paranoia. He owed Monsowa now, she was helping him. He hated owning people things, but this couldn't really be helped.

He'd just not think about it, eh?

When she pulled her hand away, Seb was restored enough in his humors to make a somewhat retort. "It's because of my big heart." He gave a sort of shaky grin. He was still much too pale, and his face was smeared with blood, but he was feeling much better. His knees still wanted to give out though. He needed something to eat.

Carefully, Seb began to move, stretching himself first. Then, on a sudden urge he leaned over and brushed his lips against Lyndsey's cheek. "Thanks, Monsowa." He said. With that he swaggered off, back to the house as gracefully as he possibly could.

He just wanted to elicit a reaction, he told himself decisively. He wasn't going soft or anything. Emotions were for fools, and he sure as hell didn't feel anything but detached amusement towards the blonde. Now was food time though, best not to think of such things. He'd keep quiet. Nothing every happened. Nothing at all.

The tall male nodded at Dashkov as he passed the sitting room, uncaring as to whether the other noticed his polite gesture or not. Although, it would be rather difficult to miss him, with his blood-smeared face and pale countenance. Upon entering the kitchen, Seb attacked the remaining food, procuring bacon, eggs, toast, and upending a milk carton over his face to retrieve the last pint from it. Then he settled down on the floor next to the table, he preferred floors to chairs, to eat, his back to the door again because he was so involved in masticating his food. He was hungrier than he's though he was.

Next he'd need to wash the blood off his face, but for right now he was content to eat.

Once Lindsey felt the skin stop moving she removed her hand, looking at Sebastian's face she saw the blood still smeared on it. Color was returning to his face but he still looked pale, even for his standards. She almost brushed the hair out of her face but when she realized she still had his blood on her hands she stopped and just blew them away from her eyes. The blood had began to drip and she figured she was going to have to wash the crimson off her hands now. Splendid. Simply splendid. But was he okay?

It's because of my big heart. Yeah, weasel was back. She would have to give him a new nickname, since he didn't really seem like a weasel anymore. She didn't know why he ever seemed like one in the first place, except for the fact that she was tall and thin, getting into people like her (or only her) buisness, or just the fact that she didn't like weasels. Whatever it had been didn't matter, she needed to think of something else. Her expression turned from a hint of worry to one of relief, but she quickly hid that. Why am I relieved? She thought to herself. Wasn't that what I meant to do? She shook the thought out from her head and was about to spit out another insult towards him when she saw him lean in closer. She was prepared to swat him but what he did caught her by suprise.

He bent over and kissed her cheek. Instead of the normal swarm of emotions she felt whenever he did something, he mind went blank. Empty. She couldn't say or think anything. When he walked away Lindsey didn't even hear him thank her, she still felt his lips on her cheek. When he walked inside her face heated up and she knew she was blushing. She could finally think enough to be embarrassed? What just happened? Se thought as she slowly walked inside, thinking that she must have stopped blushing, or that the natural blush in her cheeks would cover any redness still in her face. She saw Sergio and didn't even feel like bugging him. She could only think about what had just occured. He's never tried to annoy me like that.

Emilia Rae Marlen

Emilia made her way back to her bed, plopping down onto it, plate in hand. Devan seemed consumed with gummy worms, such a simple little thing it was cute. She lay on her side on the bed, and started nibbling on the food before her. Every few bites or so she would yawn, but she was going to fight to stay awake to finish her meal. She figured if she had not dreamed what she had, she would be 'sleeping' already. She wasn't sure why it bothered her so much as to wake her up, and it made her curious, she could only relate it to the emptiness. The nothingness, she disappeared into nothingness, as if to say that she as a person disappeared completely. She didn't remember her past, but she didn't have the time to try, as she was always stressing on the present - always focusing on Devan. She wondered what kind of family Devan was from, what his past was like, these were things she thought about more than herself.

"You enjoying those?" Emilia asked flashing Devan a playful smile. She watched him eat for a moment with the utmost amount of affection on her face. What were they going to do? She cared about each and every person here, but she was worried about the future - what was it that Devan wanted? She didn't supposed she could get an answer from him. "What would you like to be doing with now?" she asked in a soft voice, yawning again. "Wherever you go I'll take care of you." she appeared as if half asleep now. But was just, hanging on to consciousness, by a thread. Often times she would have nightmares, nightmares of everyone dying, nightmares of Devan being caught, and things she wasn't sure how to piece together or explain. It made her all the more nervous some days, making her Devan's shadow at moments. Her well being was not important, it never was, it never would be - and that was fine.

She heard the others speaking from the other room, it made her smile, referring to them as family. The only family she had, and perhaps would ever have. She started nibbling on her eggs again, being they started to get cold, and remembered that she had wanted to bacon. "Ah the bacon, I hope they saved us some." she said, knowing Devan would want some as well. "Or at least, I want you to get some." she continued. She finally finished her eggs and set the plate on her so called end table - box. "Try not to get sick off those okay?"

Still standing in her room when Emilia returned, Devan watched her move back to the bed, eyeing her plate interestedly. Though when his gaze flitted up to meet hers, a warier look came into his face, as if he was staring at a predator who might take eye contact as a threat. He soon averted his gaze. His tamer's large, dark eyes were almost disgustingly beautiful and innocent... It irked Devan to study them for too long, especially with the way Emilia looked at him. Her shining, brown eyes gazed at him so kindly it seemed as if she held the belief the sun revolved around him - which was not a notion he cared for. Having the sun revolve around you sounded like it entailed a lot of responsibility, which was not something that appealed to Devan in the least. Responsibility was not his thing.

He was roused from his thoughts when the fair-haired girl spoke up. He stared at her without answering for a minute, until finally he gave a subtle nod. At her second question, he seemed to think a moment, pulling worm after worm into his mouth like it was a furnace to directly fuel his mind. It certainly seemed like Devan ran on gummy worms, at the rate he ate them. But for all his thinking, he only offered a nonchalant shrug. Killing was all the young man ever really felt like doing. It still felt so early... but he didn't want to go back to bed now. Maybe he could go out for a quick kill... but it sounded like Emilia intended to come along. He didn't like being watched when he picked off animals, even less when he was in the mood to make a mess of them. It felt personal to him; a quiet place he could retreat to be himself. But if things got out of hand and the blood set off a bout of real psychosis, he could do something reckless in broad daylight without Emilia to calm him down. Quite a dilemma. Though already, the familiar itch to hurt something was beginning to make his mind for him.

The youth perked at mention of bacon, despite that his mouth was already full of food. He rolled his eyes like a child at Emilia's warning. It took more than one bag to make Devan sick; usually two or two and a half was when his stomach started to feel clogged with gummy and his digestion took a turn for the worse. But it rarely happened that he had two bags - or was permitted by Emilia to eat both of them in one sitting. But it was always worth it, at any rate.

Re: Detached Strings

lol. It was less about order and more about my own OCD XD it took great effort to force myself to do it, but I did. Wo-hoo.

Re: Detached Strings

If you can post, by all means post. xD I wouldn't worry about order when we're this slow.

Re: Detached Strings

Gee it is quiet. I'm trying to decide whether it's proper to post now or not. I hate having back and forth posts in succession, but it's been four days and I'm dying to post XD

Re: Detached Strings

I LLLLIIIVVVVEEEE! Sorry for not posting everyone, I've only been on and read my PMs but haven't had time to really do anything. I made my post up then got kicked off of the computer without getting a chance to save it. I have a major research paper I am working for for the end of the year, so I will post this weekend when I get some time. Again I'm extremely sorry for the absence.

Re: Detached Strings

Seeing as Blackwolf can't post all that much, I am happy with Alek interacting with Ember. In my next post (tonight), I will have her and Haine go out into the forest, he could always follow them. That would ensure some fireworks and entertainment ;)

Re: Detached Strings

So... D': someone talk to me! I was talking to Alex, but Lovely hasn't posted or responded to my PMs so I don't know what to do Dx

Re: Detached Strings

Hey guys sorry I have not posted its been hard with finals testing project's and what not. Also my aunt had died last night when I was going to post but we got a phone call about it. I will try to post as soon as possible!!!I am very sorry

Re: Detached Strings

Happy birthday!, first off.

it comes back invalid because your session has timed out, try copy-pasting into a new window and sending right off, if that doesn't work clear your cashe of cookies.

The site's been doing that logging off thing for a while. They are trying to fix it though, to no avail.

And Happy birthday! again!

Re: Detached Strings

Okay, besides my "a" key being fucked up, this website is experiencing issues where every time I try to post a message, it comes back as invalid. It doesn't work with any browser except Safari it seems (in my case). This site has also been logging me out multiple times. I'll get a post up soon. Today is my b-day, and I've been out all day, and I'm about to leave for "all night" celebrating that. The next few days, I got military crap to get done so that explains my silence.

Re: Detached Strings

uuuuugh... I've PMed lovely twise...I know she got them but she hast responded..

Re: Detached Strings

Haven't posted in the OOC in a while. Still here, waiting and lurking. :)

Re: Detached Strings

Hehe. I'm horrible to my characters. It'll be such fun though~

Re: Detached Strings

Aww....young love ^.^

I'm sure once they both know that will make for an interesting moment. XD

Re: Detached Strings

...Seb likes Lindsey.... hehe. Just decided that. He's not going to acknowledge it though~

/so cute/

-gonna wait for others to post before I reply again-

Re: Detached Strings

My sincerest apologies!!!

I have not been able to post in forever, and my post is not that good either DX I'm trying to post on my phone at midnight...so i'm having a bit of trouble... :/

Once again...my apologies :(

Re: Detached Strings

Still here.. still waiting on Lovely...

Re: Detached Strings

I'm waiting for someone else to post as well. I don't feel like I have enough info to do anything meaningful at the moment, so I felt to merely lurk until I find a better opportunity.

Re: Detached Strings

Aha, half hour break between classes! I seized the opportunity to let you guys know really quick that I'm still here! Or well, I'm trying to be! I've had four different projects to turn in this week and the next two I have exams scattered all over the place so I've been trying to study and not, you know, fail everything >.< I think I'll have enough time to post on Sunday so I'll really make an effort to do so! I picked a bad time to make this RP T-T

Re: Detached Strings

For the record, Devan has very little regard for germs and will eat that "bad egg" if it's presented to him, lol. Consider him the group's garbage disposal. xD

I'll be posting tonight, I swearz~

Re: Detached Strings

Blackwolf's right in the middle of his Final Exams, so he might be on sparingly until the 12th of May (I heard this from a different roleplay I share with him)
