Introduction
BACKGROUND
Welcome to Detroit. It's no secret that every city has its seedy element, but trust me, things are much worse here. It all started about 10 years ago... The crime in Detroit was all organized with one man pulling the strings, Richter White. He was the head of a mega corporation, but that was a front for the more lucrative drug trade. His extensive network ran deep. Then things changed. An infamous mercenary tried to stage a hostile take over of the empire, shaking up the balance in Detroit. Over time, White's empire crumbled into a smaller piece of the original whole. Now there are seven major criminal empires in the city, one run by Richter White, another by the rugged mercenary, and five by other maniacs.
You have been a vigilante in the area long enough to grab my attention. I am the Voice and I brought you and other heroes here with one ultimate goal: to remove the seven lords from their seats of power. I will provide you with room, board, and any equipment you'll need to bring down these sons of bitches.
CRIME LORDS
- Richter White - His gang, the Chairmen, control most of central Detroit and have the largest financial banking. They have the best toys, the best planners, and enough funds to put a cop's kids through college. This makes them the most formidable gang of all.
- Sean Brody - This former member of the IRA was the mercenary who was the catalyst in this whole situation. He runs with the Black Suns, a highly militarized and well armed group. They pack only serious firepower and intimidate most of the local businesses in their territory.
- Vetrov - An unabashed murderer and anarchist. This guy is a total ghost. No records on him, but he's definitely not new to this game. He leads the One Star Republic (OSR). These guys are total self-righteous, sociopaths. No honor among these fools.
- Marie Ramy - Is a high priestess in her cult. The Ouroboros practice all sorts of black magic and voodoo rituals. This gang is already crazy, but word is that she slips some of the product into the group's meals. The last thing the streets need are coked up, satanic thugs.
- Joseph Martin - Martin is a total car nut. He knows all the inner workings of cars, so it's no surprise that he operates with the Wheelers. These guys mostly operate around the auto-industries and control all vehicle related crime. They're the least violent, but they do drive recklessly.
- Ono Hitori - The Yūrei operate almost completely through random street thugs as puppets, but don't be fooled. Hitori is a former Yakuza and the core group that actually comprises the gang are extremely dangerous men. They are the most ambitious gang of all.
- Robert McMurphy - The Aegis were once a noble group. Membership has since expanded, but it was originally comprised of former cops, trying to do good for Detroit. Unfortunately, they started tapping into the drug trade and fell from grace. Problem is, not all of the public is aware of this fact.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- THE VOICE
This is a character that I will control. His purpose is to give the players direction if needed and provide the reason for everyone to gather in the first place. He is a former detective and has a secret warehouse under Grand Circus Park that will serve as your home base. The former detective has spared no expense as you will have many raw materials at your disposal here.
- THE POLICE
The cops as NPCs will investigate reports of gang wars. The force is not necessarily corrupt, but some cops are dirty and will accept bribes. If any NPC or player dies, the police will investigate. This is not as a meta-game punishment, but meant to be a somewhat realistic obstacle that you may find yourself in to.
- FAME AND INFAMY
The general population and gangs will keep their eye on the players. If anyone dies during an interaction with gangs, this will generate Infamy for both groups, but completing a job well-done will generate a lot of Fame in the public eye. You should also expect curve balls, like frame jobs or media interference.
- GANG MOVEMENTS
I will also post for any big gang movements or Crime Lord interactions. Intel on the gangs will likely come from the Voice, while Crime Lords are essentially considered characters during interactions with them.
- NOTES
This is the first roleplay I have ever started and I'm a fair GM. This means that I am very open and receptive to feedback. If at any point, you feel wronged or want to work something out, just chat with me and I'll try to respond accordingly.

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 6 authors
"Gentlemen, welcome." His voice was gruff and stern. "Welcome to my base of operations, and hopefully a home for you who are before me. You all received an invitation because you are all trying to kick out the bad guys. This means that all our interests align together very well. What I'm offering you individuals is a deal. The terms are clear: I provide each of you with a base, here, and all the resources you could need. In return, you will operate under my coordination. I don't plan to profit from this, and I promise that I will be unobtrusive when it comes to how you operate in the field. I understand you each already have your own style, and I wouldn't dare interfere. I just want to give each of you a goddamn fighting chance in this city. Are you in?"
The Voice leaned over the table, eyeing each of the heroes, waiting for questions or responses.
When the old man entered the room, he took him for just another costume. He however listen intently to what the man was saying. 'a free base? Must be a catch somewhere there, although perhaps keeping my hero stuff as far away from James as possible is a good thing'. He waited for the old man to finish before being the first one to pipe up. "Just so long as you don't but into the way I work, I'll happily accept the help." He was concious of how his English accent stood out horribly. 'Wouldn't take a genius to track me down after all'. He tapped the end of his beak in a moment of thought. "I can't say however that I'm just going to take orders from some... octogenarian, I'm independent and I don't need some parrot crapping in my ear every other step I make." Having finished venting he lounged back into his chair.
It was several awkward, quiet minutes until The Voice finally showed up. An old man with an eyepatch. That has to be a great story. He thought smiling under his mask.
The Voice greeted them and explained what he wanted and what he could do for them. “A free base.” I’ve got a base, but I guess it would be safer somewhere I don’t put my head at night. “All the resources you need.” I’m always running low on supplies, especially for my poison arrows.
He stopped chewing and started to actually focus on what the man was saying. The man cleared a few other things up and after a brief silence one of the other vigilantes across from Travis spoke up first. He was wearing some type of bird mask like something a plague doctor would wear, with an obvious English accent to boot. Finishing what he had to say he leaned back in his chair.
Travis sat up and leaned on the table “How’d you find us?” He said looking up at The Voice, slightly muffled by his mask. “I don’t know about these guys but I make sure I don’t leave a trace.” This had been bothering him ever since he got the invitation here. He messed up, but he doesn’t know how and that’s something he can’t stand for.
The Voice looked at him and smiled, "Good. Aside from some of that sass, I'm glad you're on board. I'm glad to see you aren't too scared of taking on the big dogs." The Voice said this to hopefully rile up the others.
Oleander spoke next. "How’d you find us? I don’t know about these guys but I make sure I don’t leave a trace.”
The Voice let out a raspy little chuckle. "Sure, you don't leave much of a trail, but you have a pretty common MO. I was able to predict the next few times you'd strike and made sure to leave your invitation for you."
"Sure, you don't leave much of a trail, but you have a pretty common MO. I was able to predict the next few times you'd strike and made sure to leave your invitation for you."
Ricky saw the Split Arrow's body tense up a bit. Those two were having an interesting exchange, but Grant couldn't contain himself. He quickly stood up to announce, "Alright! You got me convinced! I mean, you're an eccentric with a secret bunker that contracts vigilantes! Count me in!" The Avenger realized how overzealous he may have just appeared in front of the others and quietly sat back down out of embarrassment.
"I stopped trying to kick out the bad guys as you put it a few years ago, you would know that if you knew me. Why would I want to get back involved with all the b@st@rds of the city?" Jane asks from where she was lounging back in her chair pushed away from the table. "I might consider if I have a real reason other than revenge," Jane says not really needing another reason but wanting to see if there was one.
"I can think of one reason." he said, cutting in after Jane. "With this many of us, we might actually have a chance of success. We can do more than just chip away at these gangs. Because let's face it, none of us here could take on all of them alone and reasonably expect to make a big difference. Not that I wasn't having fun just being a minor annoyance." he finished with another mischievous grin that none of the others could see. He hadn't meant to say anything yet, but the thought of someone opting out of the team was mildly depressing to him. It would tarnish the mental image he had painted in his head of the amazing team of heroes that would "save the city." There would be parades. Stores would sell Daedalus action figures. It would be awesome.
Jane had just recently been having difficulty with money anyway so she'd been forced to sell her beloved car as well as her old home and move into a small apartment that still wasn't furnished. Getting a place to live, a "base" as the voice put it, would be great, especially if it came with free wheels. Revenge was definitely a wonderful encouragement and reason to do anything, especially when the revenge is for the death of a loved one, but being able to stop all the crimes, maybe prevent some families from being divided and sad like Jane's own had been would definitely be worth it in her eyes.
“Alright! You got me convince! I mean, you’re an eccentric with a secret bunker that contracts vigilantes! Count me in!”
He looked up at The Avenger and couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle. Kids got spunk. He noted. The Avenger sat back down after a silent second. Speaking out next was a girl at the farthest seat back and then a man wearing a welder’s mask with a painted on smiley face, he seemed to be the only one that sounded like he actually wanted this. And who’s to blame him, he made a good point, they couldn’t take on this city single-handedly.
It was clear to him now, they all had to help each other. Even if they didn’t want to, which happened to be exactly how Travis felt. “Well shit, if we’re all after the same thing,” he dragged off “I guess i’m in.”
"You said you'd provide anything we need... does that include cars? Because if you know me like you seem to be saying you do, I like cars, and I need them if I'm to really tick off the powers."
Of course the Voice knew she liked cars. She had gotten into some trouble with the Wheelers before. "I have a few vehicles at the group's disposal. And I can assure that one of them is a custom car I built with some wonderful toys for you, Soldier." And as each vigilante agreed to sign up, a grin found its way onto the old man's face. He wasn't sure if everyone would start out a team player, but he knew they were all devoted, particularly the quite man in the back. The luchador's eyes told the Voice everything he needed to know. A man who was in pain, and ready to fight back. A man that didn't want anyone to feel the same pain he felt.
"Alright everyone," the Voice started as he walked towards a set of monitors. "I see you're all on board. I suggest you get to the living quarters and familiarize yourselves with your new living space before hitting the streets. If anyone needs intel, I will be in this command room."
Jane hadn't really reacted much to being called soldier. Majority of people she helped just called her a secret soldier or something, the silent soldier maybe? Whatever it was, it was probably because of the dog tags and what looked to be military clothing. Name only wore military clothing because she felt that it might bring her closer to her family. Maybe if she did help these guys, her family wouldn't feel like she betrayed them as much.
Jane couldn't help but also be quite excited to look at that car. A custom car? With toys for her as the soldier person? The car probably has some features that Jane could never afford, but could totally wreck and ruin, but also fine tune and fix if she could understand the basics of their use and such. Jane was definitely in, even if it was for only two or three reasons, one being the car...
