Aiden is a typical teenage guy living in an atypical situation. He is easy-going, sometimes sarcastic, but always funny. He learned from a young age that humor was a great way to diffuse most intense situations, so he often makes jokes as a weird form of self defense. Aiden is also a little bit clueless. He often misses the subtle interactions between people that go unsaid, and is left playing catch up to information he should have gotten first-hand. Finally, Aiden hates fighting. He hates everything about it and will do anything possible to avoid being in one, seeing one, or having one happen in his general vicinity.
Aiden has had a weirdly skewed dream of a life for as long as he can remember. He had a loving mother, father, and half-sister... it's just that the love didn't quite extend to each other the way it did to him. His mom and Cris especially couldn't stand each other. For years, Aiden had to learn to quickly diffuse situations between his mother and half-sister, especially since his father seemed to think it was his duty to take his wife's side in all things. It was hard as well because Aiden could sense from a young age that Cris' mom wasn't as attentive as she should have been. Aiden wanted desperately for Cris to come live with them, but once it finally happened, things were worse than ever.
When Cris died, suddenly everyone wanted to think that they had been closest to her, that they were the ones most hurt by her passing, when they had barely cared about her at all when they were alive. It honestly made Aiden sick. His father began a long (and costly) campaign to sue the guy who hit her for everything he was worth. The resulting suit was costly and ultimately solved nothing. A year later, the two families were still fighting in court, his father had quit his job, and his parents could barely put food on the table. Aiden maintains that he just... snapped. He broke into his father's office, grabbed his gun, and headed out to the nearest gas station.
