What would you do if your world was falling apart without your knowing?

805 readers have visited Disaster since Shynx created it.

Introduction

You awake to the birds singing and a cool breeze blowing through the window of your cottage. It's another lovely day in your village, nestled in a small meadow surrounded by forests. As you stand and look out your window, you see children playing in the dirt paths. A woman, most likely the mother, scolds them for using their elemental abilities while playing with one another.

You live on the planet of Allyia, a world created by the Twelve Goddesses. The story goes as such:

Long ago, on a distant planet called Earth, humans worshiped many Gods and Goddesses. Every culture had their own to worship. But there were thirteen, ones hidden yet who lived on Earth among the humans. Twelve of them were the Goddesses of Allyia. The thirteenth was their father, a God so powerful that the forces of the universe were forced to restrain his power to that of a normal God. These thirteen divine beings lived in a forest hidden and protected by their magic. Even so, the Twelve Goddesses had a secret fountain with water that gave them everlasting youth.

When their father discovered this fountain, he was so outraged that he banished the Goddesses from Earth so he could have the fountain to himself. Lost, and without a home, the twelve Goddesses combined their magic and created a new world called Allyia.

There they lived peacefully, but soon grew weary of being the only life in the whole world. Sacrificing some of their magic, they created beings that were filled with elemental power, shaped like the human beings they lived with on Earth. They decided that when each new baby was born from these elemental beings, they would be born with an affinity for one of the types of magic found in the world. There are twelve elements: Fire, water, air, earth, light, darkness, sound, lightning, metal, animal, psychic, and healing.

But something is coming to Allyia, bringing chaos and havoc with it. It is called Disaster, the father of the twelve Goddesses. The one difference is that he has regained his power and is coming to destroy his daughters and their world. They gave up all their powers to protect their sons and daughters, but it wasn't enough. Darkness is spreading, and only the people of Allyia can stop it.

Asherah woke up with a curse as she hit her head on the thatched roof of her hut. It was a crude little hut, the only thing she could afford with the money she earned by playing her violin on the streets. It didn't help that she was taller than most people in her village. She carefully climbed out of bed and rubbed the bruise on her head. "If only I could move the roof up with my sound affinity..." She muttered to herself. She slipped into her day clothes and shook out her hair, tied her scarf around her neck, and headed outside with Lilith. Her violin was strapped to her back. She glanced up at the cloudless sky and waved at her friend, who was helping her father remove the last few clouds that hung over the village. Today a new baby was going to be born, and everything had to be perfect for the affinity test. "Do you think we have time to play today before mom gets a hold of me and makes me dress up for my duet at the testing?" Lilith blinked up at her owner and Asherah laughed. "If I had known I would rescue you, I would've wished for the animal affinity." They weaved around the people on the street and settled down in their spot beside the road. Asherah took out her violin and began playing, ignoring the people who stopped to watch and listen. Soon she began singing along, and people threw money into the basket she had set beside her.

Serenity walked along the edge of the road, head down and completely hidden by her hood. She walked along, leaning on her staff because the heat was getting to her and her water was empty. She had seen this small village a couple miles back from a top a hill and was now making her way for a quick regeneration before hitting the road; she was low on water and food and was ready for a break from walking. The road was dusty and dry, the heat pounded on her back amplifying bu the leather, and this was normal for Serenity. She was used to being by herself in the most uncomfortable situations and was stuck in survival mode because of this.

As she approached the village she heard music; beautiful music played by a violin and accompanied by a woman's voice. Serenity walked up and stood behind a massive crowd, watching the woman play on an electric violin. It seemed as though she was taken back in time, back to when she was more human and lived to live not to survive. These memories were dredged up from nowhere and out of the dark closet she never open, that held those painful memories of her past.

She was spinning, a young girl with wavy black hair and who was covered in scarves. She was spinning and jumping, kicking and leaping, all they while a stream of light followed her and flowed in beautiful designs. There were people around her playing instruments that Serenity recognized as a fiddle, a guitar, and a hand held drum that the person was hitting with stick on both sides. Then there were people around those people clapping in time with the music, laughing, and dancing themselves, though most were actually watching the young child in the middle as she kept up with the music with energetic movements that swirled and flowed you'd think the dance was already choreographed before hand, but Serenity knew that this was impromptu dancing. She also knew this young girl with the light accompanying her dancing, was her, and these people around her laughing and enjoying life for what it was, was her troupe, her family.

While Serenity was consumed in her escaped memory, she hardly realized that she began swaying to this woman's music, that her feet were beginning to remember the movement they had known so long ago. No one looked at this strange woman in the back of the crowd as she started to remember the movements of how to dance and of memories that she had locked away, and especially the fact that the tip of her staff, a glass orb wrapped in a scarf, had begun to glow ever-so slightly.

Asherah had not looked up from her violin once as she played, not to see almost everyone in her village watching her nor caring. She had grown used to this; most of her village consisted of water, earth, and air affinities and she was one of the few who was different; and the only one who carried the element of sound.

So when something unusual caught her eye, a type of light she had never seen before, she looked up and saw a woman with raven-black hair swaying along to the beat of the song she was playing in the back of the crowd. What she really noticed, though, was the staff that she held. Her eyes widened as it began to glow, and she knew immediately what affinity this woman had.

The level of shock she had upon seeing this surprised her, and she stood, making her way to the back of the crowd. She had never seen the light element- as it was very rare in Allyia- and she wanted to get a closer look at this stranger. The crowd turned to watch her, and saw the other dark-haired girl who was beginning to dance along to the music.

Ashley entered the village, weary from her travels. Checking her water bottle, she despaired. It was empty, and she had no food. Hoping that this village would sell her supplies. As she began her search for a shop, Ashley came across a crowd. Ashley began listening to the crowd, trying to figure out why they had gathered. Then she heard the violins.

Ashley walked forward and gently pushed her way through the crowd, muttering apologies as she accidentally tread on someone's toes. When she finally saw what had caused the people to gather, she smiled. "They must be street performers..." she thought to herself. Ashley reached into her pack and withdrew a small bag of gold coins. Smiling, she dropped the bag at the violinist's feet. "Thanks for the music, you're really good!" Ashley praised, before turning to leave. She still had supplies to purchase.

When Ashley reached the village's equivalant of a store, she was dismayed to find the shopkeeper had gone somewhere for the day. Sighing to herself, Ashley resigned herself to hunger, for the moment. She began wandering the village, looking for something to do.

Asherah looked surprised when Ashley spoke to her and dropped a bag of coins at her feet. She nodded in thanks and grabbed the money before anyone else could. She opened her mouth to speak to the dancer but was cut off by her mother, who had arrived and began shooing the crowd away to get to her daughter. "You're coming with me! We have to get you ready for your duet!" Despite Asherah's protests, her mother pulled her off in the direction her family's cottage.

Ashley had been wandering around for some time now, and she still had no food. She had slaked her thirst using a nearby stream, but she hadn't seen any animals worth hunting. Sighing, her stomach's protests becoming audibly louder, Ashley headed back towards where the group of people had been, hoping to find someone who could sell her some food.

When she got there, there were still a few people gathered, but most had dispersed. The violinist had also gone, but the dancer was still there.
"Hello!" Ashley called out cheerfully to the dancer. "Do you know where someone might find a bite to eat around here?"

The sudden call to Serenity shocked her out of her daze and she stopped dancing. She noticed people had been staring at her once the violinist left, this light in her orb sizzled out completely like it had been for years, back to its dormant state. Any spark of life that might have gotten into Serenity's bright blue eyes was now gone and was replaced by the usual dead, cold stare. She walked quickly over to the girl who had called out to her.

"No, I just..." and then she left into the crowd without another word. She was embarrassed at having been stared at for Goddess knows how long, and she was also shocked by the sudden memory, all she really wanted was to go somewhere, where she could be alone and think. She was hoping that this would be the only memory that would escape because it was a good nostalgic memory and she was also afraid of the others that might follow. She soon found herself at a stream that wasn't too far from the town. She sat down and filled her pouch, when it was full she just looked to the sky and stared at it getting lost in her thoughts. She sat quietly as the clear sky bathed in the hot sun, only a small breeze came and interrupted her thoughts, but it was gentle enough she let it get away with it.

An hour had passed since Asherah had been dragged away by her mother, and at the current point in time she sat in her parent's cottage while her mother roughly ran a brush through her curly hair.

"I swear, Asherah, you need to spend more time taking care of yourself instead of sitting on that dirty road playing for money! There are plenty of jobs you can take on that give you an honest pay." The woman let out a deep sigh as her mother lectured her. She had heard this many times over; but she had never listened to the advice. "I'm sorry, mother." Was all she said in reply, cutting her mother's speech off. Her mother ceased brushing her hair and headed into the kitchen to make lunch. Asherah stood carefully in her traditional dress and snuck outside. She wandered along the street, searching for the dark-haired woman that had shown signs of carrying the light element.

Ashley had followed the dancer to a nearby stream. Satisfied that the girl wasn't in any danger, Ashley returned to town and began wandering around in search of food again. Luckily, this time the shop was open, and Ashley purchased her supplies. She then asked for direstions to the nearest pub.

Ashley entered the pub and ate a hearty lunch. She chatted with a few of the people in there, snuck a drink or two of someone's ale, and had a good laugh at a joke someone told. Paying for her meal, Ashley exited the pub and began searching for some light work, to add a few coins to her already heavy purse. Walking around without really looking where she was going, Ashley lightly bumped into a girl in a dress. After apologising, she realized it was the violinist.

"Watch where you're going!" Asherah snapped at the woman that bumped into her. She glanced up to give her a cold stare and noted that she looked familiar, but not one that was a resident of the village. "Who are you?" She demanded.

Sora was basking in the sun a she traveled on her trusty companion Maliki, the large lion strutting proudly as they neared a village. They had been traveling for some time now without coming in contact with any villages so Sora took this opportunity to restock on supplies. She smirked as the crowds in the streets parted as they moved through them, Maliki looking from side to side with savage eyes and baring his teeth, it was all just for show, he was well trained and wouldn't attack anyone without orders from Sora first, but Sora like to intimidate people and Maliki was the perfect way to do it.

"Maliki, stop here a second." Sora said, sliding off his back outside of a shop, smirking. "I'll be a few minutes, try not to kill anyone." She laughed, entering the shop.

Maliki lay down outside the shop door, grunting every time someone got a bit too close too him. He too enjoyed intimidating people, it was amusing too him to see their reactions. Sora emerged from the shop after a few minutes and Maliki stood up, stretching and letting out a thunderous yawn, causing the street to shake a little bit.

"Maliki, keep it down you fool. You nearly deafened me." Sora siad with a slap across Maliki's nose. "I think we'll have a little stroll around this village, stretch my legs, carry these Maliki." She said, putting her supplies into Maliki's mouth and started to wander. She unsheathed her sword as she walked, inspecting it for any blemishes, but there was none. She always kept her sword in pristine condition, making it more efficient. She was distracted from her inspection and wandering by a couple of people causing a fuss, Sora looked up and realized she was lost but saw one of the people, a you woman wearing a dress, looking quite annoyed and snapping at another woman.

"Oooh, this looks interesting." Sora said with curiosity and stared at the two woman with interest, watching their movements.

"Sorry I bumped into you," Ashley said, looking a little amused at the girl's reaction. "And no, I'm not a resident, I'm a traveler."
Deciding to mess with the girl a little, Ashley smirked and said "And didn't your parents ever teach you to give your own name before asking someone else for theirs?" It was fairly obvious that Ashley was just trying to mess with her, the way she was smiling.

Ashley stopped cold when she saw the girl with the giant lion staring at her with weapon drawn. Flicking a leather strap off of the hilt of her own weapon so she could draw it if she needed to, she called out to the girl. "Hey, a person might get nervous if another person stares at them with their weapon drawn..." Ashley then shifted her posture just a little, in case she needed to draw her weapon.

Asherah said nothing in response and instead turned to face the girl with the sword. "A lion? Three travelers in this village at once. Most exciting thing that's ever happened here." She muttered to herself. One of the guards rang the bell three times, and she cursed under her breath. Without wasting breath to say goodbye to the other two woman she set off at a quick pace towards the theater.

Serenity her murmurs coming from the village, loud murmurs and then the yawn of what sounded like a big creature. Curious, she stood up and walked to the village, avoiding the crowds as best she could and trying to stay in the shadows. She only caught glimpses of what looked to be a lion which only increased her curiosity. Only when she was just about to reach where the "lion" was a bell rang out three times and then the crowd began to push and shove her towards some building.

After a while of trying to fight it, she then just let the crowd flow around her pushing her into some sort of building that Serenity identified as a theater. It was a near realization what this building was because of her experience in the past on stage. When the crowd finally stopped and settled down, Serenity started to shove her way towards a nearby wall and close to the back in case she wanted to make a quick escape.

"If I'm making a person nervous just like this, then that means I've been acting right, a little intimidation goes far." Sora said with a slight mile, re sheathing her sword on her back. "So you're a traveler to er, what was your name again?"

Sora walked closer the the girls, Maliki glaring over her shoulder as he matched her footsteps, his teeth were bared and he was growling. He noticed that one girl was getting ready to strike and he didn't trust her so he walked ahead of Sora and put his body between them to shield Sora. When they reached the girls a bell rang out and one of them took off along with the others on the street.

"Well that's strange." Sora said looking around. "I'm guessing we should follow them, one thing first though, I suggest you put that leather strap on your weapon before Maliki rips your arm off, this big cutie is slightly protective." She gave a crude laugh as she ran her hands through his mane.

"Sorry, I don't take orders. I'm not out looking for any fights, but I'm not about to deny myself a chance to defend myself. I hope you understand."
Ashley then smirked, putting one hand on her hip, while keeping the other on the hilt of her sword. "You can call me Ashe. As for my destination, I don't really have one. I just go where I feel like going, unless there's treasure to be had elsewhere. It's not easy, but I like doing it."

The violinist moved through the crowd entering the theater, being careful not to dirty her dress. She reached the stage- a small platform that was raised two feet above the dirt floor of the building. The ceiling was open at the moment, letting natural sunlight flood the room. Asherah went to the tiny room behind the stage where she drank some water and prepared her violin to play. Her partner- a man of the sound element from a village south of this one- stood in the room talking to the Elder who would be performing the ceremony. He turned and broke into a grin at the sight of Asherah. "Well, if it isn't Ashie!" The woman smiled and gave him a hug. "Nice to see you again," She said as she finished preparing for the performance. They exited the room and went to the stage, and the crowd fell silent.

"It wasn't an order, it was more of a piece of advice." Sora smirked. "I'm just out here exploring this village. I'm Sora by the way, I'm also a traveler. I don't about you but I am slightly intruiged by the sudden disappearance of everyone. I'm going to explore, you going to join me?" Sora asked, walking towards the direction the woman in the dress took off. Maliki strutting behind her, flashing a malicious look at Ashe. "Maliki, be nice to her, I'm sure she means no harm." Sora commanded. The lion just looked down at Sora's feet as she followed the crowds to a theater type place. "There must be some kind of event. Maliki, go run about, have some fun. No attacking anyone or anything ok." Sora said, pushing the doors to the theater and standing at the back of the room, watching as the woman with the dress on and another man walked onto the stage. Maliki took this time to rest, he found a nearby tree, took a few steps and jumped ad started climbing up the tree, testing a branch for its sturdiness before laying down and going to sleep.

The duo stood upon the stage for a couple moments before the man began humming a tune and playing it on his guitar. The crowd watched silently, as if waiting for a cue. A few minutes passed and then Asherah picked up the melody with her violin. The villagers seemed to explode into action; they began to sing, dance, and laugh to the music that was flowing together almost perfectly from the guitar and violin, and their owners voices. Asherah grinned as she played and began to dance as well, spinning around her partner in circles. She didn't care to put up her angry side; all the villagers knew her true self so she decided to show it. Even the Elder was in a good mood, smiling at all the villagers and the man and woman on the stage as she stepped onto it, holding the baby who would receive his element test.

Sora watched the play with slight interest as the two people danced and played music, they were good but that type of stuff never appealed to Sora, she really got interested when an old woman stepped onto the stage with a baby.

"Now, what're they doing here." She thought to herself, walking closer to the stage.
