Faris is courageous, sometimes reckless, and determined. She charts her own course and does not care what anyone else thinks of it. One of the key aspects of Faris's character is that she is selfish, in contrast of Lenna's altruistic persona. Being a pirate captain, she is also shown to possess great leadership capabilities and dislikes being excluded from the party. Faris still has a caring side; as she finds out Lenna could be her sister she becomes protective of her.

"Captain's Coat": Faris' default outfit is based on her Amano artwork, though her hair color is purple instead of blonde. In this outfit, she wears a dark blue coat with gold pauldrons, along with white pants and knee-high blue boots with pointed metal tips and feather decorations near the ankles. She also has several sashes of various colors and patterns, and a belt set with gems and beads around her waist.

"Lady Corsair": Faris' first alternate outfit is based off of an alternate Amano artwork of her. In this alt, she wears red and gray clothing with a red cape. She also has blonde hair with a different hairdo, and has different shoulder pads and high-heeled boots.

"Freelancer": Faris' second alternate outfit is based off of her sprite appearance in FF5, giving her a blue tunic with a green shawl and headband. It is based off of her SD Artwork, and FF5 Sprite.

"Princess Sarisa": Faris' third alternate outfit is based off of her appearance when she returns to Tycoon Castle and dresses like a princess briefly. In this outfit she wears a yellow dress with her hair pulled back into a ponytail with a silver tiara on her head. She also wears earrings, a choker necklace, and her boots are replaced with stilettos.

Avast: An up-close attack where Faris quickly strikes with her cutlass for a total of four hits if it connects.

Walk the Plank: Faris horizontally swings her cutlass. If it strikes, she follows up with another two slashes and a shot from her pistol, blowing the opponent away.

Open Fire: A cannon appears and Faris fires a normal cannonball out of it.

[center]Flame Cannon: Faris spontaneously makes a large cannon appear, loads some ingredients into it (Blitzshot and a Flame Scroll), then fires a huge flaming projectile that explodes on impact, dealing major damage with a wide area of effect. However, this attack is kinda slow and requires some charge-up time.

Rapid Fire: A four-hit saber combo with the last hit dealing HP damage.

Flametongue: Faris imbues her cutlass with Fire magic, then diagonally slashes with it. Releases a small wave of flame that does a small amount of Brave damage before landing the HP blow.

Quake Cannon: Faris once again conjures her cannon, then fires a large rock projectile from it. It has about the same charge time as Faris Cannon, but covers less distance and has a smaller area of effect than Flame Cannon.

Chaos Cannon: Fires a sphere of Dark magic from her cannon, dealing HP damage on contact.

[center]Divine Cannon: Faris' cannon appears and from it she fires a laser beam of Holy magic. It deals a chain of Brave damage before the opponent takes HP damage from the beam.

EX Mode{Master Cannoneer}: Similar to Bartz, she gains three stars over her head in EX Mode. Effects include shortened charge time for her cannon attacks, Regen, and a critical hit boost.

EX Burst{Pirates Ahoy!}: Faris starts off with a flurry of slashes, then calls her ship in and jumps onto the bow. She then holds her sword out in front of her as the ship dragged by Syldra approaches the enemy. Her crew unleashes a barrage of cannon fire, and then Syldra finishes off the combo with Thunderstorm unleashing a chain of Lightning, Wind, and Ice magic.

Faris is a female pirate captain, although she disguises herself as a man. In truth, she is the elder sister of Lenna Charlotte Tycoon and is technically the queen of Tycoon by birthright, however, she does not accept the position, preferring the life of a pirate over that of an aristocrat. As a Warrior of Light in FF5, she represented Fire, the element of Courage. Born Sarisa Scherwil Tycoon; the daughter of King Alexander Highwind Tycoon, Sarisa became lost at sea as a small child and was found by pirates. As she was unable to pronounce her name correctly (calling herself "Farifa"), they dubbed her "Faris". Due to how women are not respected on an equal level among the all-male crew, and due to the dangers inherent in being the sole woman on an all-male ship, Faris was raised and disguised as a boy, dressing and acting accordingly. When she was fifteen years old the ship encountered a mysterious whirlpool. The crew unable to escape it, Faris dove into the water and came out with Syldra, a sea-dragon, with whom she formed an almost sisterly bond. This bond enabled her to tame the dragon, eventually using it as a steed to pull the ship through the ocean without the need of sails. The pirates, unaware of her true gender, made her their captain for this, supposedly the youngest a pirate had ever been made captain. She has been summoned as a Warrior of Cosmos to help in the fight against Chaos in the 11th cycle.
