Setting
"The Rift is an open arena and the largest in the game, with a large central castle surrounded by several smaller turrets and towers floating in the air. Quickmove indicators connect the various towers to the central area. Portals to other areas of the Void from Final Fantasy V appear in the sky as background elements."

The Dimensional Fortress area is the representative area of Final Fantasy V in Dissidia under the name The Rift.

Emperor Mateus [8] The Emperor of Palamecia who views everyone as mere pawns.
Bartz Klauser (FF5) [8] A wandering adventurer who simply goes where he pleases. He is skilled in mimicry, and can use other's weapons against them.
Vincent Valentine [7] A former Turk that once died and was revived through experiments made by Lucretia Crescent, he is a master gunner and a shapeshifter.
Faris Scherwiz (FF5) [7] "I'm just not cut out for a princess, I'm afraid. Pirating's much more my style."
Lightning [6] The main character from Final Fantasy XIII.
Squall Leonhart [5] An elite student who is unsociable and hates forming relationships with others.
Leon (FF2) [4] Firion's adoptive brother, and Maria's biological brother. He has been captured by the Emperor, and willingly joined the Palamecian Empire serving as a Black Knight.
Maria (FF2) [4] She is Leon's biological sister, and Firion's foster sister. She is a skilled archer, and as such wields a bow.
Kefka Palazzo [0] "Theres a reason "Oppose" rhymes with "Dispose" HAAAHAHAHAHA!"

Hector Hojo arched an eyebrow. "No. I'm Hector Hojo!... Not related to Zidane at all.", he added the last part in a low tone.
Faris Scherwiz (FF5) looked at Bartz, and sighed. "Who is Zidane anyways? Bartz, please don't tell me he's another Warrior of Cosmos." she said.
Bartz Klauser (FF5) shrugged at Faris, and replied. "Well, he's...a Warrior of Cosmos. I think he has a girlfriend, but he's always flirting with every girl he sees anyways."
Hector Hojo 's jaw dropped. "Uh no way man. I don't flirt with every girl! That was just a well deserved compliment!", he said.
Bartz Klauser (FF5) looked over to Hector, and shook his head. "No, I was talking about Zidane. Not you." he replied.
Faris Scherwiz (FF5) sighed again. "I guess it's a good thing I was summoned here, rather than my sister." she said, not really to anyone in particular.
Bartz Klauser (FF5) shook his head again at Hector. "Sorry, I apologize. You're kinda new here, right? Nice to meet you, I'm Bartz."
Lightning frowned as she moved her hand away from her sword, looking over at Bartz. "Shouldn't you be with your group?"
Bartz Klauser (FF5) nodded at Hector. "Alright, cool. Well, good luck finding your Crystal and stuff." he replied, then looked over to Lightning. "Yeah, about that...I can't find them. But then I ran into you guys here, and thought I'd say hi to Faris."
Lightning nodded, understanding a little, as her own group had split up somewhat to sort of go their own ways.
Faris Scherwiz (FF5) looked over to Bartz, and nodded. "Yeah, good to see you here. But, if we're here then that must mean Exdeath and Gilgamesh should be here too." she said to Bartz.
Bartz Klauser (FF5) nodded at Faris. "Yeah, that's exactly right. As far as I know, everybody on our side has somebody on Chaos' side who they have some sort of rivalry with." he replied.
