Imagine yourself in an alternate timeline. One so different than today's history, one seemingly far fetched. History always proclaimed the firearm as death dealer to the ancient arts like swords, halberds and axes. They became obsolete with the advantages of the gun. The most obvious advantage was reach. Bullets could travel hundreds of feet--even miles away-- and impact the lives of people and therefore rearrange democracies and dictatorships alike.

However, as the gun's apparent advantages outweighed the need for years and years of practiced use, a failure to comply with a healthy respect for the innovations behind ever increasingly more powerful arsenals. This led to a breakdown of civilization as a whole. Improvements to the lethality of modern arms brought increasingly more violent conflicts that threatened the livelihood of the world as a whole.

The world regressed to a more simpler time. While technology undoubtedly still existed, it progressed heavily in defensive technology in Japan. Personal shielding tech made firearms almost instantly due to the electromagnetic magnetic resonator that repulsed projectiles but also protected the wearer from physical injury as long as he didn't do anything crazy. It would even deflect melee attacks at first. No country outside of Japan had yet reached this peak in technology so it was rather easy for Japan to subdue a larger empire.

Countries sold themselves out to the Japanese as a their failing economy's took their toll against the rising super power. Armies were vanquished with out much effort or losses due in large part to the technological edge as was prevalent through out history. The Chinese Empire, however, had its own plans. The only power that could handle staggering losses, was China.

A long time rival of Japan, it was credited with stealing the prototype suit from Japan and reverse engineering it to create a weapon. What they came up with was a beam based Guan Dao. The way the weapon worked was simple. It is comparable to a European fauchard or glaive and consists of a heavy blade with a spike at the back and sometimes also a notch at the spike's upper base that can catch an opponent's weapon. In addition there are often irregular serrations that lead the back edge of the blade to the spike. The blade is mounted atop a 1.5 m to 1.8 m (5–6 foot) long wooden or metal pole with a pointed metal counter weight used to balance the heavy blade and for striking on the opposite end. The blade is very deeply curved and therefore unlike most polearms, solely useful for sweeping cuts where it relies on range and power.

The blade itself is the singularly most important component. Within the head is placed a small chip. This chip activates a field that causes the outer edge of where normally the actual 'blade' is located to superheat up to nearly 4000 degrees Fahrenheit. Easily enough to cut swaths through the shields that were being produced commonly and in mass numbers. The more advanced shields for captains and generals were, largely, unaffected. However, it was enough to stop the advance of the Japanese enough...for now.

The Chinese and Japanese made the world resort to Feudalism. The countries under their influence were ruled by Royal Families. Beneath them, were provincial princes that ruled over regions under the Royal Family's control. Much the same, the Song Family of China--hailing from the same name of the Song Dynasty that was a ruling dynasty in China between 960 and 1279; it succeeded the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms Period, and was followed by the Yuan Dynasty--Also had a reigning ruling family, and several vassals.

The Song Family has a princess heir and the Takeda Family had a prince heir. With their family's vying to out do each other, they each had to respect the other as an enemy. But they are both teens, and full of pride for their Families and full of questions about the world and what to do about their family's conquests--if love doesn't stop them first.

Princess of China Jiao Song and Prince Eiji Takeda gradually fall in love during the course of great turmoil, though neither really know who the other is. When War breaks out, the revelation of just where they stand will test their new found romance, but will it be enough?

Classes: Japanese:

Elite unit: Samurai- More will be added later.

The samurai class that existed before developed a code of ethics based solely on perfecting ones technique and serving ones lord. Now called to do the same, many schools have propagated through out lands owned by the Japanese to form these swords man elite. The most elite Samurai are born often from the princes of the surrounding nations to form the fabled Shinsengumi. This special forces group specialize in sword combat and don't wear the heavy armors of their compatriots. However, they were ornate Hakamas, gis, and haoris with their family crest printed upon the backside.

Classes: Chinese:

Elite Unit: The Qiang Pikeman- is a Chinese infantry unit that uses a pike called a qiang. The qiang spear is often called the "King of Weapons" because of its ubiquitous role as one of the longest used and most reliable Chinese weapons, popularized during the Shang Dynasty (seventeenth century-eleventh century BCE) and used up until the end of the Qing Dynasty (1616-1911 CE). In that time, it changed very little.

Toggle Rules

1.) No 'godmodding'. I am relatively certain we all know what 'Godmodding' essentially is but there are discrepancies to the extent of which it can or should be taken. Here is is my model for my version of 'Godmodding'.

- Godmodding is where an Gamer plays a character that can survive most challenges it faces unscathed and do so with ease. Godmodding makes other players feel that their characters are helpless which is never good for the mood of the RP. An example of a 'Godmod' would be:

- Kikobi uses his powerful singularity weapon to wipe out an entire swarm of bugs. Where as the following is not a 'Godmod': Kikobi uses his powerful singularity weapon to wipe out an entire swarm of bugs and the backlash from the weapon almost rips Kikobi apart leaving him lying there dying.

2.) No Bunnymodding: 'Bunnymoddding' is where an Gamer controls another Gamer's character without permission. Perhaps a better way of putting it would be an Gamer makes a post in which they make an assumption about how another character would respond. To give an example:

-Bourok and John are both player controlled characters and Bourok's player posts this Bourok raised his glass. "A toast! to freedom!" he called. Tapping it against John's glass as he raised his.

This post assumes John's agreement. Many characters will have motives and back-stories that you may not be aware of. Furthermore players will usually get attached to their characters and tend not to appreciate others making their character's decisions for them. A 'bunnymod' is post that makes a decision for a character that isn't yours. This means vaguely posting that your character bought a drink from a barman who is a player character isn't necessarily a 'bunnymod'.

3.) Meta Gaming: Meta Gaming is where a character acts on the information it's player knows but the character does not. It is bad form and is a form of 'godmodding'.

4.) Respect: This is a simple and obvious rule. Show the other forum goers respect. Be courteous. If someone does something wrong try and be helpful and constructive. Aggression and flaming is nothing but a downward spiral.

5.) OOC Comments: If an RP thread has an OOC thread most OOC comments and questions should be directed to the OOC thread. To identify OOC comments in an RP thread the OOC portion of the post should be enclosed in double brackets (( The OOC comment goes here)).

Also it's polite to post in the OOC thread if your going to be unable to RP for a while. Vanishing without warning while another character is talking to your character can cause them problems as they'll be stuck waiting for your response. So if your taking a break (as in days or weeks) from RP'ing, won't be able to post for a while or are leaving the RP for good (which is a great opportunity for an awesome character death) it's good practice to let the other players know.

On that note, any character that is abandoned and is deemed crucial or needed in some way--for example, a character that was in midst of talking to another that is just left, stranding that other character or any character carrying a significant portion of responsibility to the role play itself. Please don't join if you have "commitment" issues as it frustrates not only myself but other gamers who join in hopes of having fun.

6.) I should not need to say this but--All forum rules are to be respected and obeyed. Sexual oriented content may be a allowed as long as it its within the parameters.

7.)
[b]Character Creation.

Here are my personal limits. (I borrowed some from Nanophreak.)

To me, a weapon can have one normal, obvious function, like a gun shoots bullets or a blade slices through things. In this roleplay, you will have to get through an enemy's P.S or Personal Shield before you can cause damage.

Japanese weapons differ from Chinese based weaponry. While Chinese based weaponry is 'beam' or energy based--Japanese weaponry like the Reforged Katana or Odachi are heavily reliant on the oscillations. Japanese weaponry has a series of segmented blades that revolve at extremely high speeds. This allows them to rip through armor but yet not so easily able to cleave through the shielding the Chinese warriors wear. On the contrary, the energy based weaponry weaponry can get through the P.S the Japanese but the Japanese uniquely modified Samurai armor poses a very discernible obstacle.

If you have more than one weapon, the max should be three, to keep confusion down.

Senses:

No smelling against the wind.
Vision can't be stronger than anything that exists in nature.
If they says it's scentless or tasteless before you smell/taste it, you can't detect it.
No mind reading on anyone farther than fifteen feet away, and even then you should only be able to detect vague intentions, or a single mood.
Predicting the future should only happen in dreams, so you can't predict an attack right before it happens.
If you can hear somebody whisper forty feet away, if they shout your eardrums explode. Normal conversation standing about five feet apart would knock you out. So, you can do it, but you shouldn't.
No being "aware" of all important things happening near you. That's being a god, which only an idiot couldn't tell is 'godmodding'.

Abilities:

Deflecting bullets is okay, because you can't be expecting them to get themselves shot every time. However, only one part of the body or one weapon can deflect bullets. Dodging them is risky, and you have to break it down for each bullet.
Super-strength is a no-go
No running faster than eighty mph.
You can't move your whole body faster than the eye can see.
You need sleep and food. Period.
You can't be invincible, etc etc.

Posting:

Begin the attack in one post, connect in another if its not blocked. In chat, give the person at least seven seconds to dodge or block.

Of course sleep didn't come easily..it seldom did these days. Although the days events had started early, so eventually sleep claimed her. Granted her sleep was restless, knowing her father was of course very worried..anyone would be after the nights events.
Of course, the days always began early..right before dawn she was awoken by her alarm clock, glaring at the very idea of how early it was. At least it was a quick matter to get dressed for practice..having to do little more than toss on her practice clothing and make a break for the training yard, long hair pulled up into a ponytail. Of course her instructor worked her hard, the man certainly wasn't hesitant about marking her with bruises when she wasn't paying attention. Thus..the mornings routine began..the peace talks set for later that morning. Although she was already required to attend, she would have to do more than simply sit back and let things take course..she might have to steer her own family toward peace..one never knew.

For a moment, it looked as if Yoko had startled him, but only for as long as it took him to recognize her. “Oh…you…” He seemed to calm down bit as he continued, “You are...a...friend of Ejji..."

Yoko looked to the floor for a moment upon being recognized as such. She didn’t know how to feel about that. On one hand, it was an honor to be recognized as the prince’s friend, but on the other, it would be odd for someone of her station to be too close to him. The worst part about it was that she sometimes felt the conflict was bigger in her mind than it was in real life.

"No..I merely had nostalgia on my schedule tonight..." Takeda-sama answered, pausing for a moment. Yoko looked back up to see him facing forward again rather pensively. “I am surprised you know me, girl. I am hardly a strapping prince..." His voice was almost passive aggressive, but only almost. He spoke to her as his equal, which was a pleasant change of pace for Yoko. Since becoming a miko, only Eiji had spoken to her in such a manner.

“I do not remember only the handsome ones who cross my path…” Yoko spoke somewhat formally out of habit, “Besides…You are Eiji-sama’s uncle…”

((I did have more but I decided that last part would do better at another time for maximum trolling affect))

The seasoned man only tilted his remaining eye away from the shrine maiden after having heard her spoke once and thus returned his gaze back to the wall and the dull candle lights that shun upon it, giving a lazy glow to the scenery in that part of the shrine when having no real specific features to stand out apart from the odd array of cracks and chips of frayed, old wood that seemed to be scattered randomly upon the wall. A moment passed during this, filled only with the sound of air entering and leaving their throats as well as the shrine due to the breeze as well as being followed by the gentle chirps of crickets out with in the night shrouded grounds that surrounded the building and thus created nothing but a rather serene moment of tranquility even though the moons rays appear to have been denied access to the constructs windows due to being shoved out of view by a small group of melancholy set of grey tinted clouds with a strong resemblance to a depressing, gloomy prison wall in color and texture. Takeda only slowly started to move once more as he took in a rather brief breath of air through his nose, extending his nostrils and letting his figure move up an inch and then down as his lungs filled up before allowing his single violet eye twirl to towards her direction, peeking at the maiden out the corner of his sockets after having that small moment of time to silence.

The uncle driftingly lets his shoulders slide around a few more mili metres so the chest on his torso will now roughly face close to her direction although he still was very much far away from looking at her head on, only standing in a diagonal manner while his face half hid underneath the clothe he wore when peeking at the girl before slowly letting his cheeks move up and down as he moved his mouth to reply " No...of course not.." The aged strangers words seemed to dull, growing more masculine this time but a lot more towards being apathetic entirely as if the conversation had been strained for a second before carrying on with a much more aware voice just after a small second of breath "I am his Uncle..I was hoping my reputation would earn my own status beyond being a royals uncle though.." The mans words were indeed somewhat gruffed half way as if a rather dis-pleasing thought had snuck up on him mid way of his words although his strong and strict tone slowly reverted to a more lighter selection of rhetoric towards his next sentence "It would appear I will have to try harder to stand out on my own worth..clearly the Uno-Duki Project did not spread enough whispers about me.." The mans orbs glinted slightly towards her, now having a rather venomous gaze to it as the eye managed to somehow grow darker all over as if being swallowed by shadow yet shine at the very edge at the same time, the fact he was so obviously smiling due to his lifted cheeks did not help sly gaze within his orbs after having talked in such an out of character tone for him.

For Eiji, rest came with a great deal of trouble for him. It started with a pillow and quickly grew into a bed. He wasn't used to western style beds. Stripping the mattress of its sheets and bedding, he made a pallet on the floor, cushioned by comforters and laid down on flat, solid ground. His breaths were deep, and he barely moved the entire rest of the morning until he was adequately rested. He awoke around what was 11 in the morning, only a few hours of sleep, but it was a lot better than sleeping permanently, or being too nervous to sleep at all.

He neatly folded his bedding and blankets after he appropriately dressed himself for the afternoon. He was now in a summer kimono. It was of a lighter fabric, but its solid 'dulled' tones made it formal nonetheless. He was too old for the more vibrant displays his country seemed to be known for. The world outside there's seemed to think that all Japanese people wandered around, listless and in kimonos. What an odd preconceived notion. He knew the Chinese were definitely among that particular flock. Their dresses also were very ornate and often, very form fitting. Like Cheongsam.

After he dressed and replaced his bed sheets, he stepped outside. First he ventured through the busy city outside the walls of the palatial seat of power. The city was overwhelming, so then, he decided to calm his mind. Returning, he wandered through the Forbidden City's gardens. The greenery; shrubs and brushes as well as the many ponds and other bodies of water eased his mind. It almost felt like he were back home. By now Yoko would be tending the grounds of the temple. She loved that place, of course anyone would having virtually grown up there. She loved the temple as much as he enjoyed working for this purpose. Finding peace between these two vast and ancient kingdoms.

Eiji came across the training grounds where he spotted princess Jiao. He casually sauntered on, wandering the training area, not meaning to cause a distraction. That was hard considering many Chinese felt angry towards the Japanese and some even felt the Chinese government was superior. So, some stopped in mid stride, some sneered, some whispered, murmured. Even the instructor stopped and turned around. Eiji halted, looking around at the many who now took attention to him. Smiling timidly, though it would ultimately be a farce few could tell.

"Lively bunch, huh?"

Sorry but this Role Play was un-able to stay alive. I feel sympathy for your plight.

Re: [OOC] Dividing Line: Ima wa jidai ga kawatteiru.

Meh, back after a long 'break'. Sorry guys..had to go take care of my mom up North. She was in and out of the ICU and all that fun stuff..no way to get on the net at the hospital..

Re: [OOC] Dividing Line: Ima wa jidai ga kawatteiru.

I'm really sorry. My mom's computer is plagued by a horrible virus and I've been unable to post. I'm only on right now because I'm using my friend's mac.

Re: [OOC] Dividing Line: Ima wa jidai ga kawatteiru.

Oh, come on. Please do not tell me this is dead. I thought I was doing a good job, did my post bore anyone.

I was having fun too, what a waste of potential.

Re: [OOC] Dividing Line: Ima wa jidai ga kawatteiru.

If you would care to, Statement, that is fine with me.Though you needn't if it was just for a assassin.

Re: [OOC] Dividing Line: Ima wa jidai ga kawatteiru.

Goodday, Everyone.

Seraph, I do not normally do this but considering there are not a great deal of people here should I submit an assasin character?

Re: [OOC] Dividing Line: Ima wa jidai ga kawatteiru.

EikouNekoChan. Not that I want to be rude but if we take too long Eji and the Princess will need to interact with a supporting character-one of us-and not each other to avoid repitition, we may not be available due to being in mid conversation.

Is my post lacking an appropriate opportunity for you to enter?

Re: [OOC] Dividing Line: Ima wa jidai ga kawatteiru.

^-^ I'm glad you like Yoko, and my post. I look forward to being able to move on with her as a character.

Re: [OOC] Dividing Line: Ima wa jidai ga kawatteiru.

Nonsense. There would be no point in writing her any different. She's Eiji's friend Eikou-dono, not his entourage. I merely selected China first because it would give me a good starting line and amplify Eiji's pacifistic nature along with his willingness to do what was right. In short, I wanted Eiji to make a strong first step and therefore give rise to his own uncle's ambitions as well as place Yoko-dono in the precarious position of a childhood friend.

P.S Your post was very well written by the way.

Re: [OOC] Dividing Line: Ima wa jidai ga kawatteiru.

EikouNekoChan wrote:So...where does the current situation leave Yoko? Had I know the rp would start off in China, I would have written her differently.

Well, I'm just entering the RP so we could interact in Japan while they are in China if you would like?

Re: [OOC] Dividing Line: Ima wa jidai ga kawatteiru.

Good day, Seraph.

I just felt I should inform that I went ahead and submitted the profile with a picture instead of text-I draw the picture, so it entirely accurate of how my character looks. Although it just a quicky, no massive shading or indepth details and perfect posing-and though it was easier for you to decide if you like it as you go along rather than let us both wait for you to approve and then wait for the profile to be submitted.

Re: [OOC] Dividing Line: Ima wa jidai ga kawatteiru.

So...where does the current situation leave Yoko? Had I know the rp would start off in China, I would have written her differently.

Re: [OOC] Dividing Line: Ima wa jidai ga kawatteiru.

D: Eeeeeh!?! When did we start!? And on a night when I don't have time to write a post...

EDIT: And I posted anyways...Honestly, I probably should have used that time to work on a math project, but I'll be up late anyways due to the coffee I drank, so I figured why not. Hope it's alright. It's an awfully short intro for me...

Re: [OOC] Dividing Line: Ima wa jidai ga kawatteiru.

Good Day, Seraph.

I am going to submit a profile as Takeda's Uncle like you suggested although I was wondering would it be ok if I used a drawn picture as you have already seen my descriptive and literacy abilities. I figured it would save people reading three paragraghs for a simple design and let me start getting used to drawing my Role Playing Charcters.

Oh, what is the family relationship like by the way. Am I like the step in father because the ruler too busy or am I just the random uncle that seems to appear out of nowhere and drink all the beer out of the fridge?

I got a history idea for my character too if I am allowed some freedom, thinking about making him a founder of a recouperation project that handles the affects of radation and elctro-magnetic negative affects on rural villages that have been victim to the explosion of new war based technology lately.

Thank you for the compliment by the way. Just in case you are confused I am refering to you're Private Message.

Re: [OOC] Dividing Line: Ima wa jidai ga kawatteiru.

That is for you to decide. Eiji is actual 18. By traditional standards, he is considered a man by the age of at least 13. Small Samurai began practising the basics of fencing with wooden swords at the age of 3, being given a real weapon, a mamorigatana sword for self-defence, between the ages of 5 and 7. A child had to be able to protect itself from surrounding dangers, family enemies, robbers and vagrants, with his father and male relatives providing early combat training. Boys were sent to be raised by relatives or to the home of a fencing instructor, where they were taught military tactics, archery, riding, handling a spear and unarmed combat, jujutsu, i.e. yawara. Attention was also paid to the development of intellectual virtues.

Re: [OOC] Dividing Line: Ima wa jidai ga kawatteiru.

Hey! MY interest is piqued and I have begun to create a character to be Eiji's friend. However, she will not be posted until tomorrow. I do hope you will wait to see her before picking that character, because she's a great character I've used once before (though she went by Hiimisa Yoko, instead of Fujihara Yoko at the time- I changed it to be more traditional).

Also, so I can take it into account as I create her, I was wondering if I could find out how old Eiji is. We don't want a huge age gap, do we?
