Description

"Life in this city is pretty hectic. It takes some getting used to! But once you've acclimated to it, I'm sure you will have a blast. Literally, in some cases."
"Hello Word! - Bump of Chicken[dj-Jo Remix]:

Name: Gen Cordus
"Kinda rolls off the tongue, right?"

Gender: Male

Image

Realm: Gen hails from quite a hectic realm, lacking any rational fundamentals and sane concepts. The city he lives in is a carbon copy of New York City, excluding its dilapidated appearance. A sporadic cocktail of beings roam its streets, all originating from separate realms to find solace in the crazy island, completely surrounded by a thick shroud of mist. Somehow, Gen manages to stay alive within the manic lifestyle it forces upon its citizens. He doesn't remember when he started living in such a place, although he is aware that he is the sole operator of the realm. Regardless of his presiding position of the city, rather than becoming a lord of reality, he has simply dissolved into the endless sea of people, living as a common, underpaid individual. Although, he sometimes bends the rules and makes things go in his favor.
"First rule of Morta City, don't stick your head into a lot of things. Might find yourself deep in alien crap. Just keep your head on a swivel, and stay alive."

Spirit

Appearance:
Gen is quite a lanky character, which is the prime reason why he wears a fleece large enough to impersonate a somewhat bulky physique. Standing at 5'7", the boy's hair is an uncoordinated mess of brown. As for his eyelids, they are usually kept tightly squeezed shut, masking the utilities taking the place of his actual eyes. The Spirit isn't exactly sure how or why he was born with such unique contraptions, commonly dubbed "The All-Seeing Eyes" by a few of his elders. They are renowned as genetically inherited relics, barely any accounts of their existence are published, even in the spirit world resources are limited. He has a pair of orange tinted goggles strapped around his neck, and his choice of attire varies between casual and formal sets of apparel. The boy does indeed look quite dashing with a pristine suit and tie. Unlike most spirits of his caliber, he doesn't have the slightest of a clue what his true form looks like.

Personality:
Even though he religiously and intentionally steers clear of it, trouble always has its way of tracing down Gen and forcefully seizing him. He's quite an innocent individual, tactful in his ways and decisive when need be. The Spirit tends to freak out easily when abruptly thrown into detrimental situations, which are unfortunately a commodity in his line of work. Although he originally sought a peaceful living as a mere number within the grand scheme of things, perhaps his unwanted role as the realm's operator has trouble following him on purpose. He is fully aware that he could quit his job at any time, yet stays true to the bonds he has formed with his comrades. Gen is devout to those close to him to an insurmountable extent, albeit he is a little reliant on them when he's in life threatening scenarios. He can be very playful in casual times, and has a threshold for most people.

Summon Style

Stylized Appearance: At times, Gen tends to manifest attire following Xavier's example. Although his personal formal wear suffices, he is content with his Summoner's choice of clothing.

Power: Reality Distortion - TBW
"I can't let on that much. Where I come from, you always need an ace up your sleeve."

Mortal Disguise: Gen's original appearance is human enough that is doesn't require a disguise, though tinted glasses seem to blend in more than clunky goggles. If he has to change to a more compact form, he'll impersonate what is commonly referred to as a "Mach Monkey" back in Morta City. They are frighteningly agile and fast, yet are easy to spot in most terrains if one has a keen enough eye. Unfortunately, such acute eyesight is highly uncommon.

Background

"Shall I, too, speak of the things I have seen up until now?"

"No place better to die than within the crazed land of Morta City!" Is a phrase which commonly circulated through the streets of the lively city. There was never a boring day in the eventful province, one would never even hazard catching a breath, as they would be left in utter awe at the sight before them. Or they would be helplessly fleeing while facing impending doom. Gen has had too many run-ins with death to count, and he has evaded his morbid grasp even many more times. The Spirit doesn't quite remember when the city and himself were manifested. All he knew was that the region of Morta belonged to him and him alone, and that he could change the parameters of reality as he saw fit. Rather than playing god like an imaginative child, overflowing with ideas and possibilities, he took what he believed was a more passive and simpler route. He blended into the wide facet of common folk, a mere head bobbing through the travelings crowds. There were indeed a few scenarios where he used his ability as the realm's unofficial dictator to his benefit. He unfairly avoided death, a commodity in the hectic city named after it. Instead of dawdling in wait of his demise, he decided to expand upon the more vibrant aspects of his lifestyle. Soon enough, his abilities were noticed by an organization he was already aware of. Playing the innocent role, he acted as if its existence was news to him. Without his own personal inquiry, he was soon accepted into its ranks, and assisted in keeping the city in one peace. What he expected was a monotonous conglomerate of business associates and killers, yet in his mind's steed was a friendly group of coworkers, borderline family in all honesty. The boy continued to have close calls alongside his comrades, and believed he would live through these willingly live through these recurring days. They were all aware of the fact that he was a Spirit, the one which presided over the realm nonetheless, yet they weren't particularly frightened of him. He was only reminded of his inhumane origin when he unconsciously began to make connections with another world. It was relatively nearby in conjunction to his realm, yet he never wanted to traverse the gap between. Slowly, but surely, he would soon realize that he would have to cross such a bridge at some point.

The city of Spireworth was bustling as usual even after the welcoming warmth of the sun had fallen. In it's place was the pale luminous moon casting its light upon the crowds. Said crowds were with the magically gifted as well as those who were 'normal', as it was common for many mages to use their talents to make a living in a variety of ways. Stall owners called out selling crystals that held special healing properties, additional accessories for Conducts, and as normal in many markets an abundance of food. Apparently there is nothing better for roasted corn cooked by a fire mage..although normally the stall wouldn't be producing so much smoke.

A few disgruntled shoppers coughed loudly as the smoke continued, even a few remarked at the level of smoke. The fire breather merely shook his head mutely as the smoke continued to bellow out in a hurry. Said smoke was coming from behind the corn stall, seeping through the doors of a bar. There was a loud feminine cough as a young woman walked out clutching something in her hands along with a fat-looking wallet. An angry shout quickly followed the woman's exit as a rough bar patron pointed an accusing finger at the elegantly dressed woman "You cheated! You don't deserve that money..don't try to deny it. Only a cheat would do something as dirty as try to escape using that...thing...". Said thing merely glared with black eyes at its attacker before spitefully puffing out more some from its' head as a dainty hand waved the fumes away from her face "Kind sir, I am appalled you would accuse me of such a thing. I won our wager fair and was playing 'dirty' as you claimed due to your violence reaction to loosing...around". A smirk came onto the woman's face as she waved the wallet towards its former owner "Say..five hundred dollars? Shame luck wasn't on your side tonight. Maybe next time you should keep a better poker face..".

Struggling to find the right words, as the man let roar of rage, flames engulfing his fists as he swung blindly at the young woman before dropping to his knees clutching his manhood as the curved horns of Ollie slammed brutally into the man's stomach before trotting, albeit a bit clumsily towards the waiting Belladonna. The young woman merely gave the goat a gentle pat on his horns before walking away as if it was just another evening for her. The few spectators quickly cleared a path, not eager to give the hostile goat another reason to charge. Her destination was that of the bus stop which would take her back to the welcoming bed awaiting her return. Her other summon let out another huff of smoke at the small bleating of the goat. It seemed the two summons were having an arguments of sorts..."Now do behave you two, Luck you did good work tonight. Take a rest". The dice cup spirit merely let out a small smoke heart before pressing itself to the waiting card in his Summoner's hands.

Shuffling the card among the numerous others as Belladonna merely smiled at the events of the night. The money she had earned would help pay off her upcoming rent, and bring in much needed groceries. Eventually the wheezing of the bus broke her trance of shuffling as both Summoner and Spirit boarded the transporter. Eventually the place the duo called home came into view, the house was silent given the late hour. Moonlight gave some light through the windows as Belladonna shuffled towards her room eyeing each passing room briefly. She didn't know much about her roommates, although like every other mage she crossed with there were quirks to deal with. The first room belonged to Martin, a quiet, but kind man. Apparently being sickly all your life made you really focus on keeping a positive environment.

The door across from Martin belonged to an equally secretive Saturday who seemed keen on hiding herself away unless directly her scathing sarcasm at someone. Said sarcasm was actually pretty entertaining as long as it wasn't directed at Belladonna. While down from Saturday was someone clearly hiding something behind all that bravado. Xavier Poll was clearly raised with manners, although it could be hard to tell when the young man was bouncing off the walls with excitement over something trivial. Still she was becoming fond the infectious energy her roommate had, not to mention the utter heart melting cuteness of his rabbit summon. A sigh escaped her as she passed the surprisingly quiet room of her final roommate Anthem..as a house of quiet individuals would considered sacrilege as the man was nearly as boisterous as Xavier, although his energy had a more aggressive feel about it than kind. To say it was surprising this rough and tumble mage was a summoner would have shocked her given the nature of his Conduct. A baseball bat, an interesting choice..but it seemed fitting enough.

Finally reaching the end of the hall for her own piece of mind as soft cotton sheets crooned at her as she tiredly stripped down to her normal sleep ware. A simple bra and under ware would suffice..despite her favored preference of sleeping in the nude..it would do little good to flash unsuspecting roommates. Ollie merely settled himself at the end of the bed and was sleep within seconds. Envious of the goat's easy dreams, a sigh escaped Belladonna as she waited for her fatigue to take over her body.

A few hours passed by without any type of interruption...that was until a tingle came down Belladonna's spine. Darting awake as the tingles became like small shocks as her hands groped blindly for something on her nightstand. Finally her hands grasped her chosen object and roughly threw it against the wall. Cards scattered upon impact..as her eyes widened at her action of throwing her Conduct. The tingling had stopped..but the cards still rustled as before floating upwards revealing two figures, one taller and the other shorter. Snapping her fingers rapidly as the cards flew back into her hands like eager puppies, and a stunned Ollie merely charged at the taller figure without a second thought...

Who were these strangers and why did they seem so familiar to her magic?????

Keep moving forward.

That was a mindset which commonly circulated throughout Morta City, for if one was to stop for a moment and even attempt to take in the complexity of the grand scheme, they would soon be swept away by the brisk pace of life around here. Now, the phrase is supposed to be perceived in a metaphorical sense, something to keep in the back of the mind as reference. Nothing more, nothing less. Now, in Gen’s case, it was all too literal. Now the boy was never a speedy runner, even though he is unknowingly rated as a god-tier entity with this world, he rarely exploited his abilities as the realm’s sole operator. Take away the abilities of a deity, and all he has going for him is a mundane body and atypical eyes. Once in a blue moon he breaks his own terms to evade death, which he has to do way too often. His subconscious must really, really, really despise him. Anyways, back to Gen’s predicament.

That morning, the organization he was an employee of finally found the central component to a drug ring, injecting unethical substances into the blood of the city. Being an organization which operated in the shadows, making tweaks to the city as it went along, it’s blatantly obvious that they raided the hideout and… detained all of its cartel members. Now, what they weren’t expecting had came to bite them in the proverbial ass. It’s truly ironic when drug dealers call the cops for help, one of the members had dialed up the city’s police force during the attack. The screams and crying of death in the background didn’t help Gen and his comrades’ case. They cleaned up nicely, but whilst escaping via roof, before they knew it the city’s equivalent of SWAT was upon them. Rather than rolling down the streets in armored vans Gen had seen in nearby realms, this form of enforcement was delivered by air. And here they were, running from rooftop to rooftop. It just so happens that there were catwalks coincidentally branching the gaps between each roof. The boy didn’t want to dabble over the fact that such emplacements were legitimately pointless, but he wasn’t caring too much about covering his tracks.

”These guys are persistent, I’ll give them that!” The boy shouted out to the two men upfront, dear friends of his he had known for quite some time. One was leaner, with skin lightly singed rather than kissed by the sun. The other had more beastlike qualities, bolstering an extremely intimidating posture. ”Gen, are there any living beings inside of that bird?!” The leaner one, Jhan, called back to him as the aircraft closed in on them. The air brushed off by the propellers was almost deafening. ”Wait a sec, let me see!” As they continued to sprint through their escape, Gen cocked his head towards the transport vehicle. Within a moment his lids shot open, exposing an intricate wireframe design embedded within his retinas, glowing with a vibrant cerulean hue. He concentrated his eyes on the aircraft, in conjunction, a few symbols aesthetically similar began to rotate around his peripheral vision. The boy visually burrowed through the layers of the bird, as if he was looking at a 2D diagram. As he dug through the cabin, he spotted at least a dozen enforcement bots in the aux. bay, and two pilots. Down another layer, and he was inside of the outer metallic husks themselves. All he saw was circuitry. There wasn’t a single sliver of sentient life within that aircraft. ”Take it down!” Within the blink of an eye, Jhan pressed a miniscule device into his palm. Out of it grew a scythe twice as large as he, a product of his blood. He swiped through the hull of the vehicle in one motion. The result was a breathtaking explosion, thoroughly traced by clouds of stagnant smoke.

Shooting the air…

The boy could only inhale a sigh of relief for a moment, as a duo of the same aircrafts came into his vision. ”You know, I kinda hope the remains of that last one don’t fall onto anybody.” Gen was indeed always the one to think of less pertinent things in the middle of dire situations. The older one of the trio only clicked his tongue as he led the other two, keeping his pace ahead of them. Their pursuers loomed ever so closer as they continued to run, ”We should be near an extraction point soon, get ready to book it down the stairs!” The boy hadn’t noticed that he was lagging behind his comrades, unknowingly getting tired as he continued to run. He cursed under his breath as the two crossed the final catwalk, which unfortunately snapped into two as soon as Jhan made his way across. ”Gen, you’re gonna have to jump!” Gen gave a look of bewilderment in response, ”Look, I know we just raided a drug cartel, but I’m pretty sure you didn’t have enough time to do any of the substances there. I hope.” He peered down at the cityscape below, knowing all too well he wouldn’t be able to survive a jump.

But the severity of the situation changed drastically with the flash of a light. A portal, completely opaque and colorless in appearance, manifested itself a few feet below. Gen instinctively opened his eyes and analyzed the portal in a cursory manner. ”It’s a realm portal! I can’t tell where it leads to, not getting a clear enough image. It definitely doesn’t lead to Humas. I should be able to make one back here soon! Get out of here, I’ll find a way back!” The boy glanced at the portal again and gulped down any doubt. One of the birds broke formation and quickly decreased altitude. It flew by at a razor sharp speed, dropping off automatons in the process. The robots were heavily armored and ready to restrain the boy, they began to close the distance between them at an alarming late.Image”Better be a pillow on the other side!” He shouted as he lept off the rooftop, flailing his arms while screaming like a prepubescent manchild as he made his descent. And just like that, he was completely absorbed into the portal.

Catch me if you can.

Even when we close our eyes
There's a whole world out there
That lives outside
Ourselves and our dreams.

Xavier had been out and about since about six AM that morning. Boy was it worth it too! There was so much to do here in Spireworth, it was super fun to mess with the vendors. They always guessed Xavier was a small abandoned boy. Why ruin the vendors view of him?

Walking up slowly, letting out a cough here and there, he made is small way up to his favorite meat stand. The hulking man behind the counter glared at him, but Xavier saw his heart soften as the boy held out a small rabbit, who had discoloration on it. Xavier kicked his foot on the ground and looked up teary eyed.

"Mr, my bunny. . . He's sick."

"I see,"

"Can you help it?" The man frowned, not an angry frown, but one of genuine concern for the boy. Handing the boy a turkey leg and some carrots the man muttered how he needed to stop being so soft. Xavier then quickly dashed away, giggling as he went. Snowball, his small rabbit, did a back-flip and landed on Xavier's shoulder. Shaking himself so the soot fell off his white fur. It seemed as if the two were both snickering like ornery children as they headed home.

As he entered the house the boy smiled sweetly at Snowball, rubbing between it's ears gently. Setting his pack down, he collapsed onto his bed. He was extremely tired but he was too frightened of what dream may await him once he loses consciousness. Instead of sleeping he curled up and clutched a pillow so tightly in his hands that it left rug-burn like markings on his knuckles.

Xavier in spite of himself was about to fall asleep when he noticed his conduct, his short sword was vibrating an glowing. Xavier shot up and grinned, it was so exciting! What could be coming through? He held Snowball close, just in case. Then a big rift opened, and through it fell a man with goggles and messy hair. He had been screaming like a small girl, but once he landed he stopped that.

"Awesome! Do it again!"

At first…

Ra flew through the skies, the rush of the cold, bitter wind cutting through her wings, it was the end of another perfect day in her realm, a realm where she was free to do what she pleased- which was mostly eat and preen herself all day. Ra was a very beautiful crow, although one of abnormal size, and she enjoyed collecting pieces of bone, pretties, and whatever else caught her eye to build up her nest.

That was why, when the first stirrings of strange magic began to thread around her, Ra resisted. It was so easy, the power was weak, fleeting, and she thought that would be the end of that – besides, who would want to summon a giant crow? That was silly, they usually wanted cute little toys to play with. Nothing with personality, or anything near her magnificence!
Yet, it happened again. A tuck, pulling at her tail feathers, causing her to spin out of control and have to land herself so she could ground herself, sink her talons into a tree, feel the solid wood and overcome the others magic. It was getting stronger, that tug, and a flash of fear filled her entire body. Something could actually summon her – something was trying to summon her and she almost went!

For two days afterwards Ra carried the weight of fear in her chest, worried that the next tug would be her last in her beloved home world, and it was that evening, as she curled up in her nest, dark eyes staring at her pretties, that she felt the last tug, ripping her free from the world. The last thing she saw of her life was shimmering bits of jewels, tucked away in her nest.

Then…

The first thing that Ra noticed was she was wrong. Something about her form – it was wrong. She was no longer a crow, rather, she had been stuffed into a humanoid suit, and she felt awkward. There was no wings, there were no talons. Luckily she still had a light dusting of wings, sporadically on her arms. Dark eyes turned to Xavier, and her lip curled in disgust.
This was the person who had plucked her from her home world?! She gave a shake of her head, white curls spilling behind her, and she opened her mouth to squawk, a horrendous noise emerged. She sounded like she was being strangled, her new vocal cords not being able to produce the noises she was used to using to communicate.

How could this have happened?!

At least she wasn't alone... Perhaps the other being would in the room, whichever one was -not- the summoner - would be able to help.

Belladonna

A variety of emotions welled up in Belladonna as the past few moments felt like eons as magical energy practically radiated in waves that Belladonna had never felt in all her short life. The first primarily emotion being shock just at the sudden appearance of the two...Spirits as well as the trance-like Ollie had been put into all by the simplest touch by the blue-haired...girl? A bit of nausea came about as her body floated into the air as the second Spirit..a male by the looks it made his displeasure clear by tossing her bed easily across the room. Cold dark eyes looked over her body as a faint flush came to Belladonna's face as she attempted to use the bed sheet in her grasp as an improv dress of sorts as it floated in the air as well. As soon as her bed came crashing along with a few mementos falling to the ground from the impact, her body hit the floor as well.

Grumbling under her breath at the rough landing and to add insult to injury, a fluffy pillow bounced off her head. Moving her messy hair out her face as a low whine escaped her throat as a large amount of fatigue hit her body. Laying back on the ground in defeat as she sighed before sitting up eyeing the two Spirits "Well it seems like there are a few of us enjoying this sudden turn of events...". Her sharp comment was directed at her once loyal Ollie and the male Spirit who was certainly making himself at home. Ollie merely let out a sheepish bleat before nudging the blue-spirit's hand as a request for her to continue her ministrations of petting. Sticking her tongue out at the goat childishly as she directed her attention to the male Spirit before stating "You know, it is not exactly polite to toss a lady's sleeping area about the room. Besides look what you did to all my mementos...". Said mementos ranged from small crystal balls, a few prized processions won from gambling, and even a few holo-pictures of her past. Said holo-pictures were quite expensive in their own right given it took specially mages to create the images from hand. Her favorite one lay on its side near the Spirit's leg, the image of a sunny day with both Luck and Ollie on her shoulders enjoying the beautiful day. A large brim hat covered the sun from her face, yet it couldn't dim the smile on her face that day.

A faint blush came upon her once again as she noted her state of dress. Those that said she had problem with stripping under stress were incorrect. She stripped to free up her focus in the heat of combat or a bet..or just to piss someone off. Gingerly picking her way to her closet in hopes of finding something a bit more suitable for entertaining guests at this late hour. Settling on a pair of cotton shorts and a tank top in her rush as she looked at both her 'guests' before rubbing the back of her head "I am not entirely sure what is going on here. Yet from what I am assuming...you two are what the scholars would call Spirits right? It's been centuries since any mage has been able to do this. At least according to the book we found...". Snapping her fingers out of reflex as the various cards about the room zipped into her hands once again as she began shuffling them out of habit "I apologize for the untimely summoning..it wasn't intentional I promise you that. I think I would have chosen Spirits who were less likely to toss me out of my bed and steal the affections of my goat..". Her words were a touch sarcastic as she hoped humor would help diffuse the tension in the Spirit's. Who knew what power lurked beneath their mortal forms...what did they exactly look like?

A small groan escaped her as she realized the likely possibility that her fellow roommates were dealing with uninvited guests as well. A faint laugh escaped her at the hilarity of the situation at all the possible damages that would occur. So much for reassuring the landlord that the house would remain standing after this group inhabited the home. The shuffling stopped in an abrupt manner as she said in a hopeful voice "Well it seems I will have to call a house-meeting..can you two please stay here. Or at least not wreak anymore of my room...You can keep Ollie for company". A wink was directed at the blue-haired girl as the goat rubbed its face affectionally against her leg. Taking small steps out of the room as she pointed an accusatory finger at the lounging spirit "I mean it..don't start throwing shit around again". The door to the bedroom closed quietly, only to be opened roughly as Belladonna poked her head into the room.."By the way, my name is Belladonna Ace. I am a Summoner..and I guess now yours too..Unless this one huge dream...". Shuffling down the hall as she rapped loudly on each door with her knuckles before announcing "I am assuming we need to have a house meeting...might I suggest we leave our guests alone to get to know one another..".

Without waiting for a response, the brunette walked wearily into the kitchen before browsing through the fridge and popping the lid off a cold beer. Placing the cool glass along her forehead as a headache was starting to form and sitting on top of a bar stool near the kitchen island waiting for the inevitable similar tales from her roommates. Taking another sip of the bitter liquid as Belladonna grumbled "I am going to need another one of these...". Hopefully the Spirits would at least take her words to heart as she did not want to have play a game of hide and seek in the city tonight...

Even when we close our eyes

Naruto's Daily Life

It had all begun so suddenly. To Xavier the day had been fairly normal he supposed. Now what though? There were two people sprawled out on his floor. Approaching the two figures cautiously, which is better than his first reaction had been. Although whatever had just happened there was awesome! What had happened? Were these spirits? Like Snowball? No, cause these were way tougher than Snowball.

Clearing his throat and trying to stand confidently above the two creatures Xavier put his hands on his hips.
"Alright! I see you received my summons." Then he laughed, he was gonna claim whatever just happened as a result of his own doing. Mainly because he thought whatever had happened, had been the coolest thing ever in the history of living here. A mischievous smirk turned at the boy's lips and a dark aura seemed to radiate from him. He was a powerful summoner! Take that EVERYONE who doubted me! Setting his sights back onto the spirits he took a step nearer to look them over.

He tried to stay cool but it failed. His childlike-awe got the better of him. First was the dude with the dark hair and cool eyes. Xavier squirmed with excitement, steam seemed to shoot from his nostrils, as if he were in some sort of odd cartoon. He began poking at the other boy, a huge grin on his face. He grabbed the other boy's hair and moved it around.

"So fascinating!" Squealing like a school girl he hopped around, unfortunately he lost his footing and fell over into his nightstand, his arm reaching out, his fingers wrapping around the other spirit, the woman's, hair. He yanked on it as he toppled backwards with a cry. He pulled the woman on top of him on accident, as they landed on the ground a vase fell onto Xavier's head, as it had been precariously perched above on the nightstand.

"OUCH!!!" Xavier cried and bolted upright, rubbing his sore head and forgetting there was a woman right there, his foot accidentally landed on something soft. Huh? What did I step on-OH NO. Turning bright red Xavier became lightheaded and fell onto the other guy's lap. Looking away from the woman but stammering and sputtering Xavier flailed his arms about wildly.

"I'M SO SORRY! I d-didn't mean to step o-on your-" He couldn't say it, he instead stood up and made his way to a spot where he could see both of them. Running a hand through his hair and laughing he spoke again.

"The name's Xavier, Xavier Poll. I guess I summoned you two here. Isn't that the coolest thing? Heh heh. . ."
Xavier prepared himself to be yelled at or something. Probably he'd get slapped but it'd be worth it. These two seemed really cool. Maybe they'd be willing to be his friends? Imagine the shenanigans we could pull! Eeep! The adventures we will have, I can't wait! Xavier mentally fist pumped the air, but remained cool as could be on the outside.

Unfortunately, there was no pillow on the other side. Instead was only the cold and flat metal flooring, which stoicly received the impact of Gen’s face. The portal dissipated as soon as it had appeared, leaving the boy stuck in his current predicament. He let out a groan as he picked himself off of the floor, then fell back onto his rear to get a glimpse of where he was. The room itself seemed bourgeois, by no means was it housing a pompous inhabitant. Though his claim was disapproved by the other presence he sensed in the room. His eyes instinctively fluttered open, a slew of vibrant symbols revolved around his sockets as they homed in on the individual. Gen’s vision quickly focused to adhere to the lighting, then transitioned into validating that the individual had body heat. In actuality, his eyes registered two entities within the room. The larger one was quickly determined to be a human, whilst the other, perched on the boy’s shoulder, was a weaker summon, similar to himself. ”Wait a second… Is that a human? Oh, so I wound up in Humas. Grand.” Although there was a tinge of sarcasm embedded into his thought, having landed within this realm was a strike of luck at the least. Rather than being startled, the boy was exuberantly jumping about, waiting for Gen to repeat the process of realm-jumping. ”As much as I would like to, I have to find a desirable point to create a gate. There should be one nearby at least…” As if answering the blonde’s requests, another portal came into fruition. Gen automatically turned his head on a swivel to gaze into the image, yet all he saw was a decrepit forest. Whoever was passing through, their world wasn’t as lively as his. The spirit tilted his head expectantly, waiting until a figure plummeted from the gate.

The individual was a spirit as well. From what he could sense, she wasn’t exactly god-tier, but she was still a formidable force. The woman had avian-esque features, yet her overall physique screamed humanoid. From what he had deduced from his past travels, not all spirits maintained such an appearance. Gen had simply woken up with such a body, and saw no need to change it. Speaking of his personal standing, he was surprised with a quick glance at himself. His laid-back attire had been transformed into a white collar prodigy. ”From rags to riches, eh?” A fedora was also firmly sitting on his head, a product of the finest craftsmanship. His goggles didn’t seem to fit with the theme, but they stuck with him regardless. The boy fumbled with his tie, running his fingers down the silky fabric until his attention was forcibly snatched by the blonde. ”Alright, I see you received my summons.” Gen instantly knew this was mere bluff, as a summoner of his expertise would be unable to commit such a feat without his noticing. His subconscious was truly to blame. Its childish meddling had wound him up here, in foreign lands. To briskly skim over the terms between Gen and his subconscious, it’s as if they were in constant strife. One is the main thought, while the other plays around behind the curtains, secretly pulling the strings without the former’s noticing. Rather than shooting the kid down, he let the child continue on with his rambling. Besides, the cause of the other spirit’s summoning was yet to be determined. Gen let out a sigh and slipped off his hat, which soon proved to be a catalyst to a series of unfortunate events. All of a sudden, his hair was under a poking assault. All the spirit could do was muster a mere ”What.”

Aaaaaaaand, then the boy lost his balance and ended up committing a crime tenfold as horrible to the other spirit. ”Somebody wasn’t properly pampered as a child.” He thought to himself as the scene unfolded before him. The blonde had as much grace as a young gazelle... with a brain tumor. The two tumbled over into an uncoordinated heap, followed by a vase landing on the human’s little scalp. The boy shot up and began rubbing his head, unknowing of where his foot was about to landed. Before Gen could call out to stop the blonde, the trajectory course was already set, and his heel was directly planted onto the spirit’s- ”Oh-hoh. Quite the adventerous summoner, eh?” Gen jeered as the kid fell backwards onto him, brimming with embarrassment. This was without a doubt quite the interesting situation. The summoner quickly collected the shattered remains of whatever control he had and stood up, then introduced himself as Xavier Poll. ”It is pretty cool, Xavier. Surprised you were able to produce an operational gate.” Of course, he didn’t do it on his own. Before Gen could ask him anymore questions, Xavier was abruptly summoned to a house meeting. He quickly gathered himself and stormed out of the room, promising to return soon. The spirit let out a sigh as he turned to face his company, ”A very energetic fellow, right? Was about to introduce myself, but I guess that will have to wait for later. The name’s Gen Cordus, operator of Morta City, and beholder of the All-Seeing Eyes. Pleased to meet you.” He slipped hat back onto his head and pressed it into place, ”I don’t think he saw it, but I caught a glimpse of your realm. Seems peaceful, in its own way.” Gen made a slight smile, then stood up from the floor, ”Well, guess we’ll have to wait for his return. Might as well get a decent lookover of this room.” Even in the dark lighting, this world seemed colorful in its own respect. Out the window was the moon, boldly shining in the night sky. "Might as well enjoy the sights and sounds, while we're here."

One by one, the roommates slowly trickled in with a variety of expressions on their faces. There was at least one rational human with the appropriate expression of fatigue..but Martin always seemed so tried. Xavier looked like a child that had been told Christmas had come early. While Anthem looked pissed off as normal and chided her on the emergency beer..even his dog seemed to be scolding her. While Saturday decided to be a little pest and steal away her beloved drink..a small pout formed on Belladonna's face at the action which faded as questions each posing a similar wording came from then.

Stretching her arms over her head as a yawn broke as Belladonna halfheartedly poked Saturday's forehead "Stay away from my drinks, kid..". Her eyes widened as a loud honking from outside broke the silence..~Please tell me it wasn't that Grey Spirit..I don't want to have to chase him around town~. As the sound faded away Belladonna merely snapped her fingers before scooting off her seating "Do not move. I just remembered something that might help us..". Running down the hall as she quickly darted into her room rummaging through a bookshelf. Grasping a large leather tome with a victorious smile before walking out of the room. Her head did a quick double-take as girl Spirt seemed to be taking it upon herself to grow a 'fairy garden' of sorts.. finding her voice "Please do make sure..those plants don't uproot too much of the carpet. I still am not sure how I will explain that to my landlord. Oh and keep Ollie away from those roses..he gets a bit energetic after eating them.". The goat merely let out a sheepish response before inching his way towards the pink flesh of a rose blooming elegantly.

A few minutes passed by as Belladonna made her way through that once quiet hallway..hushed voices came from a few bedrooms and there appeared to be smoke coming from Martin's. With a sigh Belladonna slammed the tome down before the others in the center of the kitchen table before the rustling of papers and a few muttered words came from her as her finger came down onto a lengthy passage "It's stated here of a legend of Summoners that managed to call upon these Spirits through consolidating their powers with one another. Although we obviously haven't been having any pow-wow sessions..or at least I haven't. Her smile became a teasing smirk as her eyes caught each roommate's within her own as if tempting to weed out those that would have such friendly relations so early...

Flexing her fingers in apprehension as she said "Well since we know how we called these Spirits here. What exactly do you think we should do with them..Obviously some of them aren't pleased by the sudden Summoning..and are frightened to say the least. I think since we brought them here, we owe it to the Spirits and on our names as Summoners to be a guardian of sorts until we figure out how to send them back into their own Realms. That way if they do want to work alongside us..they know we only have the best intentions in mind..". A faint smile come on her face as the opportunity the humans had been given..hopefully it all worked out in the end.

The faint roar of a car broke her peaceful state as her mind returned to the destructive Spirit that she had hypothesized had left her room. With a faint wave she called over her shoulder "If you hear screaming and or stuff starts getting thrown into the air..that would be my Spirit's doing..Wish me luck". Hesitantly stepping outside the safety of the house as a bizarre scene sat before her..the Spirit was standing near the area where a mailbox should have been and flipping the empty road off?

Nervous laughter bubbled up from her throat as she inched closer to the Spirit "You know that is a bit rude. Then again you do seem like an asshole for a Spirit..from my personal experience with your charming personality..". A sigh escaped her as she inspected the damage done to the driveway "Well the landlord is going to have a field day with this. This". Her hand snapped toward the broken mailbox with accusation "Is why I asked you to stay inside..which is where you really should be as of now. So will you come with me or not?". Raising her fingers to her lips as she let out a low whistle..a distant baa answered as she hoped Ollie would bring his new friend along with him to this potential fight.. "Don't make this any harder than it has to be Grey. All I want is to get some shut-eye and I am sure you want that too. The sooner this night is over..the sooner we can try and figure out how to get you Spirits back home..".

Even when we close our eyes
There's a whole world out there
That lives outside
Ourselves and our dreams.

Chick-A-Boom||Daddy Dew-Drop

Sitting in the meeting wide-eyed as Belladonna spoke, all Xavier caught was . . ."What shall we do?" Or something like that. Well he knew, he was going to pull all sorts of shenanigans with his two new best friends that's what! A stupid smile plastered to his face as he rose after Bella left. He began his happy little march back to his room. Once he was out of the eyesight of everyone else he took off at a dead-sprint towards his door.

Thud, thud, thud, tha thud.

The sounds of his feet slamming against the carpeted flooring getting louder the more excited he got. He couldn't believe it! He had two new friends, this was going to be great. He'd never had real friends before. He silently crossed his fingers praying to whatever controlled such things, he prayed that he wouldn't mess this up for himself like he usually would.

Taking a deep breath Xavier opened his door and there they were, dressed much like he was. The girl however was dressed like some sexy dancer. Stuttering a bit Xavier leaned in his mouth gaping.

"Dang lady! You got like, way hotter while I was gone!" Putting his hands on his hips and kicking the door shut behind him he spoke in his most "manly" voice.

"Ahem, well as it seems. . . I am your new guardian. I know, incredible. So, I say, as your guardian of course, that us three become the best of friends! Or something like that." His voice changing to show his excitement. "Can we go on super rad adventures together? Oh oh and eat melons and sea-salt ice cream?"

Xavier sat cross-legged grinning up at the other two.

While Xavier was out and about doing Morta knows what, Gen seized the chance to take in his surroundings. At least, the premise which he presumed he would be living in for the time being, as a preferable site to establish a gate was yet to be determined. The room itself wasn’t classy by the slightest, the only pompous articles was the overly decorated lamp shade, and the apparel the two were dressed in. The spirit paced his way around the room, taking in every aspect at his disposal. ”Wow, this room seems pretty bland, in comparison to Jhan’s or my boss’. Well, he is only in his early teens, can’t expect him to buy high-end furniture. Not that I’m one for pompous living, I’m fine with living in any conditions.” He murmured to himself as he ran his fingers between the creases of books, feeling out the titles inked onto their backs. ”Well, life in Morta City is far from peaceful. If you can stay alive without being blown up or crushed by some random occurrence, you might as well be a saint. Of course, they’re a few religious groups who aren’t too fond of saints, so that would probably just increase your mortality rate.” Gen pondered this for a few moments before waving off the thought. Judging from his company’s tone and dialect, English wasn’t a language endorsed in her realm. If anything, her original form was most likely far from her current figure. She spoke in chopped up phrases, which when glued together, formed a somewhat concise sentence. In all honesty, her magic was doing an extraordinary job assisting her in adapting. The boy fully opened his eyes, allowing the projections to take form around the rims of his temples. It was mostly to improve his vision in the dim lighting, but to also catch a glimpse at the composition of Ra’s garments. They were, for all intensive purposes, ordinary. No trace of magic or external interference, much like his own. “Yeah, I guess you can list them off as normal. For the times or casual gatherings, I’m not so sure, but they’ll definitely leave a few men captivated…”

As if on cue, Xavier bursted into the room, jumping about with immeasurable exuberance. And then he saw Ra. At that possibly moment might have entirely gone through pubescence and back, because his voice dropped at least three decibles. The amount of force exulted when Gen’s palm slammed into his face was greater than that of a continental shift. He could have just created two new land masses with how much laughter he was bottling up. Xavier quickly recollected himself and cleared his throat, then continued to give a brief synopsis of their current standings. ”New guardian? Well, I guess it makes sense, since we are guests in your home. Besides, we should be able to establish a gate soon. It’ll be easier to then establish a link to Ra’s world from there, since Morta City is more of a transport hub than anything. Then we could move on to assisting the other spirits” He motioned to the sounds of commotion within the other rooms, which were without a doubt other visitors. Gen could have easily used his eyes to peer through the layers of sheetrock, but he didn’t want to take the chance of seeing anything… unsightly. ”Yeah, adventures sound fun. Not so sure about sea-salt ice cream, though. That sounds like putting ice in boiling water.” He glanced at Xavier, then at Ra, thinking about their next choice of action. ”Well, Xavier, since we are indefinitely working with eachother now, we might as well share a bit of ourselves… right?” A slight smirk formed on Gen’s face as the symbols revolving around his sockets changed color, transitioning into a veridiscent green. Within the blink of an eye, two copies of the sets popped up around the eyes of both Ra and Xavier. ”What better way than a visual presentation, am I right?”

A new projection took form in the middle of the trio, it was a mirror similar in appearance to a gate. It glistened in the moonlight before coloring itself with an image, lighting up the entire room. The angle focused upon an entire cityscape, covered by a dome of dense clouds, bordered off from the rest of the world. ”This is the outside of Morta City. I’m the operator of this realm. It’s a carbon copy of Humas’ renowned island, New York City. Excluding…” As he trailed off, the vantage point relocated itself within the dome, showing an endless sea of skyscrapers, mixed with the bustling life forms varying in shapes and sizes. ”...the fact that half of the buildings are in a decrepit state, it’s also an easy access point to Dante’s Inferno, and stuff is blowing up at least every hour.”Image As he said this, an explosion went off in the distance near the top of a skyscraper. The angle focused closer on the origin, showing a very familiar fellow. Gen was running across the catwalks spanning the skyscraper roofs, barely keeping up with Jhan and his boss. The remains of an aircraft were plummeting aimlessly through the sky, on a crash course for the street below. The project entailed the entire event, up until Gen leaping into the portal. ”...And that’s how I wound up here. I deduced that my sub-conscious was making a connection to you, which is why I’m here.” The mirror dissipated, and also did the symbols revolving around their eyes. ”But I will hand it to you, Xavier, you managed to summon Ra all on your own.” The spirit sighed as he lowered his eyelids to only a sliver, ”Anyways, we might want to settle down and get some rest, who knows what tomorrow will entail.”

Upon hearing the answer that she had expected – that the clothing was at least normal – she gave a delicate shrug of her shoulders. Without Xavier directly in the room the anger that she felt at being ripped from her homeland and shoved into this unfamiliar body, with unfamiliar surroundings, and a new person, mostly faded into a sense of melancholy. She was not a fighting spirit and, though she had magic, she had no clue why she of all creatures had to have been summoned. It made Ra wonder what was in store for them. Considering that her original form was that of a giant crow, she did not particularly have a religion or believe power – so she was stuck out of the wind in this strange place.

Thump thump.

The loud footsteps, Xavier coming back up the stairs, drowned out the last of Gen’s words, her hypersensitive hearing overriding his words, magic unable to translate – or infer – what he meant by her outrageous outfit turning heads. The outfit was certainly a reflection of the inner style, the true person who Xavier could possibly be – or was, beneath his foolish, childish exterior. Yet, Ra didn't know that, and when he burst into the room, his words coming out a low, garbled mess that her magic, or perhaps the anger she felt – didn't allow for a translation.

”Dancer…?

She spoke the word beneath her breath, assuming it was something bad, tone harsh and she took a step forward. She wasn't sure what she was going to do to the boy – throttle him, scratch him, shriek once more – but Gen’s offer to share his world and about himself caused her attention to drift, pupil-less eyes locking on the projections that surrounded him that she had missed earlier.
His magic was much more powerful, much more showy, than her own and the sights that he showed – the fire of his world, the explosions, shocked and disgusted the avian woman stumbled back, literally collapsing onto Xavier’s bed, the feathers on her arms standing straight up, an expression of horror on her face. She did not understand war. She did not understand the fire, the destruction of nests – homes.

Magic exploded out from her body, a simple wind spell that should have just gently ruffled books and papers instead knocking over a lamp and a few lighter pieces of furniture, tears sparkling in her eyes.

“Not.. There.”

She was not going there.

”Nest. We..Nest."

Gen was correct, who knew what they'd have to deal with - and Ra, as angry as she was at being summoned - didn't want to go home if it meant going to such a place.
