another blight starts on a wounded ferelden

Introduction

hello. i am thinking of doing my own custom sotry based on the dragon age origins. based on some of the ending ive had in the story along with some things ive thought up of myself.

basic plot is this: the blight has ended alister is now the only veteran grey warden. set free to train the rest from queen anora from the greywarden that gave their life to end the blight.

they have recruited and now stand 4 strong (so me and 4 others as alister is an NPC wanting at least one other grey warden. if the other for want to be grey wardens fine. but if there are two grey warden spaces left ill NPC them as staying to defend the land in ferelden given to them by queen anora)
but not all is peaceful within ferelden. Paragon Branka is working ont he anvil of the void and producing golems hoping to reclaim the lost thaigs. it is thought the dwarves will get their old empire but something has gone wrong setting up a possible new blight before ferelden has time to recover.

Malificarum from the circle of magi able to elude the surviving templars have gone to the dwarvern city of orzammar where they traveled to the anvil of the void to study the anvil while branka works on it. under the guise of trying to replicate the enchantments on it to make brankas work go faster. but when they got there the malificarum used blood magic to over power branka and the guards and steal valuble control rods. allowing them to control the golems branka made and set on releasing more dark spawn. in doing so they had dug up and tainted an old god making yet another archdemon. will the new grey wardens be enough to reach the archdemon before it fully awakens and starts a new blight once more with the wounded ferelden?

ok as for the nations heres what happened in the game (story wise)

the dalish: died but there is another clan (so no saying you were zathrians first because they died) the werewolves had moved to the kocari wilds.
Bhelen: is king of the dwarves and to move the dwarves into modern times allowed branka to use the anvil.
the magi: were saved but is wounded (only one mage must be allowed. if two apply i will see whos story is better and offer another part)
the demon that had inhabited connor was told to go away and may pop up again (dun dun dunnnn) and niether connor nor isolde died.
andraste's ashes were open to pilgrims and are now spent
haven has now closed the gates to outsiders all together.

i will want approval for charcters so ill give the basic run down of what i want posted.

Vin gasped at the proceeding events and the thoughts kept on jumping into her mind. Why did her father insist on even being a Grey Warden? She knew for a fact it wasn’t just to torment her, it was common news that Beldur and herself were soon quitting the Grey Wardens. And even if they weren’t, Vin couldn’t see her father wanting to even try and throw his life away to just torment Vin herself, it honestly didn’t make any sense to her, whatsoever. Her father wasn’t the type to want to help other people, let alone risk his life for others. She frowned, the thoughts moving through her mind lie fine clockwork, broken clockworks. Nothing seemed to be making sense and she hated it when things didn’t add together, it just made it that much more complicated.

But the surprisingly calm thoughts that Vin was having was the opposite of her fathers. He saw with a white hot rage in front of his vision. How dare this knife ear just waltz in and take Vin? He saw how they looked at each other and it made him sick to his stomach. Humans and those dirty elves weren’t meant to mix and he couldn’t believe that the dumb cow of his daughter was actually doing it. He clenched and unclenched his fists, his neck being grabbed by the man he felt himself despising. He didn’t care that he had stopped two blights, in fact, the knowledge disappointed him. He had been looking forward to that blight and it had stopped by the people he had expected it from the least. He looked at his daughter, right beside the damned knife ear and felt disgust well up from inside of him. Every time he looked at her, even when she was a young child, disgust was always the constant. He felt his vision turn red, he would not let these people mess up his well planned thinking.

“Let me go, believe me. You wouldn’t want to hurt your beloved’s father now, would you? Because I’m thinking that would probably upset her to see her dear old father to get hurt.” He asked with a certain amount of spite in his voice, tinged with the smallest amount of victory. He doubted that Vin had bothered saying anything about him and by a look at her face, he knew she hadn’t. Blood drained from her face and a dull horror crept through her mind and he mentioned that she was unfortunate to be his offspring. Would Beldur feel disgust at her from knowing she was related to such a narrow minded human? And at the same time, she felt her fathers gaze on her with his cold, calculating eyes. She still didn’t know what was up with him, but she had a dreaded feeling that something was. She didn’t know about him, but one thing was for sure. She trusted him as far as she could throw him. And from looking at her father’s fat stature . . . . she didn’t even think she would be able to lift the man.

beldur blinked for a moment being caught off guard "this man is vins father?" he thought to himself. it puzzled him....why didnt vin want beldur to know this? did she not trust him as much as he thought she did? his grip on the mans throat loosend a bit and beldur shoved the man back along with the other grey wardens "get back in line and get marching. elend, make it so this one does the mundane tasks. untill he learns respect. he damages the image we have died to keep strong."

elend nodded and a few of the older grey wardens that beldur recruited just after the first blight came and took vins father away. the wardens who had fought the blight were amused at the difference between them and the newer grey wardens recruited a few days ago. the older grey wardens said that they were like the new ones now "you lot wernt any different you know after i recruited you" he said with a grin and everyone marched on laughing, except beldur, vin and probably vins father. beldur slowed down keeping vin behind so both were at the back where beldur whispered into vins ear, as they marched the country flew by and by evening they were entering the lands of amaranthine

"why didnt you tell me your father was in the wardens? were you embarressed if he found out you and i were together?... or were you embarressed about him being your father?" he gave ehr a soft squeeze of the hand a small frown on his lips as they walked as worrying thoughts crept into his head

Vin returned Beldurs hand squeeze, feeling reassured next to him. Her heart has slowed down from its previous hammering in fear and she didn't feel quite to sick anymore. Apparently Beldur just happened to have that calming affect on her, something that she was grateful for. She sighed, trying to take calming breaths that was increasingly working with each second that went by. She peeked ahead and saw her father rather compliant, which was odd because he usually didn't listen and once again she had the thought pop into her head, the one that told her something was up with him. There was no way he was doing this all for naught, he had hidden motives.

"What do you think? At this point half of Ferelden knows we're together, so it was probably the him being my father. That and I really didn't want anything to happen. But hey, I guess something did, I've told you all about him." She rolled her eyes and kept her hand in his, glad for his reassurance. "But, We are leaving them sooner or later, which is good I guess. But I'm wondering why he actually bothere to become a Grey Warden. He has never once had other's interest in mind but he becomes a Grey Warden? It makes no sense to me." She realized she had started to think out loud and shut her mouth, not wanting to speculate any further in front of Beldur.

beldur listend to her speak and eventually her wondering aloud before shutting herself up. he merely frowned and nodded and walked on keeping vin's hand in his own as they walked.

they didnt stop for dinner , they just continued on untill they reached the grand warden hall of amaranthine. the accent was very different than ferelden and beldur explained that amaranthine is a seperate country like highever but they are still tuld by alistair. a large sigh of relief came from all the wardens, except vins father probably as they walked in, go changed and sat down for a feast that had been prepared

they all ate hungrily for once not talking to each other and even beldur had a lot of food to go through. some of the newer wardens were surprised out how much the others ate. everyone having enough food for 2 people on their plates at first and still reaching out for more.
"youll eat this much. come on, eat if you eat enough for a normal person youll starve to death " beldur explained and that got the new wardens eating which made the otehrs laugh a little.after the feat beldur headed straight for bed bypassing the wine "you can stay and have some wine vin, you deserve it. but of course if not ill be waiting in our room"

he headed straight for his roo removed his shoes and lay on the bed ever since he entered amaranthine he had been sensing something odd. not a darkspawn, not a grey warden but....something else, what could it be? he frowned and he led their pondering

Vin grinned turned into a frown as soon as Beldur left and she felt the immediate discomfort from being left alone with her father. Well, not alone considering there was still a lot of Grey Wardens she just felt odd. So she grabbed a bottle of wine with two glasses, sticking her tongue out at the others who questioned her motives. She just shook her head and smirked when some of the older Grey Wardens cat called. Elend called out something dirty and she just laughed, retorting that they were all just jealous.

She went to the room and knocked on the door before entering, pulling the glass out and placing it on the counter, pouring them each a bit. She smiled as she drank a bit, kicking her shoes and socks off as well as her sweater. “You need to stop thinking so much Beldur, it’ll drive you crazy. What’s wrong?” She asked playfully, hoping that it had nothing to do with her father. She was already urging to leave, not trusting her father enough to be in the same place as him.

“So, we’re leaving tomorrow, right?” She asked, handing Beldur his glass of wine and clanging the glass together in a cheers.

he drunk his wine slowly a puzzled frown fixed upon his face "you dont feel it vin....i sense something like a grey warden...but also darkspawn." his eyes then went wide. "of course no one here is experenced enough to tell a warden from a darkspawn." even beldur never learnt which means. this thing he sensed is neither.

no sooner had he realised he pounced onto vin tackling her off the bed as darkspawn ripped thorugh the window. the confusion of battle roared as half drunk wardens grabbed weapons as darkspawn poured into the keep.
"vin! gets your daggers and pay attention to your senses.... if anything feels wrong...it is, these arnt normal darkspawn" he lunged onto the darkspawn grasping its throat just as his hands burst into flames strangling the ambusher.

an alarm rang fires started and people began screaming. he took vin into the corridor after giving her back her daggers which were lying on the table near the wine where they were surrounded on both sides
"be careful vin. watch out" the darkspawn chagred at him and he shapeshifted into his most common form. a horde of bugs. from there the cloud spread over the darkspawn biting in weak places like the neck, inside the mouth and nose and the main veins of the darkspawn. spreading himself took a while to kill so many darkspawn at once but none of them went for vin being too busy in pain.

a fewminutes after the fight elend came after having killed three darkspawn byhimself despite having one arm he grabbed vin
"hurry! vin, beldur lets go the newer wardens need your help!"

Vin’s eyes widened when Beldur pounced on top of her, her wine spilling on the bed she had been on. Confusion lit her eyes for a second, then dirty thoughts and then realization when she saw the darkspawn. She hissed and rolled away as Beldur got up to fight, his hands soon flaming. She cussed and took a shard of glass that had unfortunately embedded itself into her arm. She winced as it pulled at the soft flesh and she dropped it down, pulling herself up.

She didn’t have any time after that to react, she was being dragged by Beldur out in the hallway. She was suddenly really happy that she didn’t have a lot of wine, something that would prove to be really unfortunate if she had, she would probably be too uncoordinated to fight properly. Beldur transformed into bugs and she felt shivers crawl through her skin as she always did, there were so many bugs. It was probably a good thing that she wasn’t scared of them, only creeped out when they where around here in large quantities.

Once more, she had no chance to really register what was happening, let alone fight. Elend grabbed her and his words were rushed. Vin nodded and followed, making sure Beldur was trailing behind her. She clenched the daggers in her hand, her hands uncharacteristically sweating. She frowned and then walked into the rooms where swarms upon swarms of darkspawn where fighting with the newer Grey Wardens, most of them drunken messes. Vin giggled at the hilarity of the situation, knowing that no one was really hurt yet before she went to fight the darkspawn, thoughts of her father completely out of her mind.

the hall was large and filled to the brim of fighting. darkspawn outumbered the wardens and down the entrance hall darkspawn were killing the guards. beldur began casting as a eerie blue aura surrounded him he then shot a small white ball of light to the darkspawn in the middle of the largest crowd. that darkspawn began to glow. then after a spirirt bolt from beldur that one darkspawn exploded in a cloud of blood killing all the others fighting the wardens. they all looked scared for a moment when they saw beldur they all cheered and ran drunkenly to fight the darkspawn killing the guards.

then the unexpected happened. an ogre smashed through the wall and punched elend so he went flying against the wall. beldur eyes widened and he shoved vin out of the ogres reach just as it did a sweep sending beldur off his feet to land on the flor hard after falling onto the temble which broke under the force
"ugh....vin....be careful" beldur spat some blood to the side and slowly got about getting up. in his mind a voice spoke to him. this time it wasnt the slurring voice of the demon he has come to know. but his own voice. "nows a good time to use that dalish magic we learnt from that book"...the book..he had forgotten about that. oh well its gone now. he continued to get up as he got the spell he needed in his head remembering everything he needed. it was a spell that would make the ogre submit to his will

Vin felt herself get oushed to the side before her brain was really able to process what was happening. It seemed like a lot of that was happening tonight and she just felt incredibly upset at that. She felt like she was in a bad mood, something that was really rare for her. She scanned the room and saw her father just standing there with a smirk, not fighting whatsoever. She felt a certain rage course through her body before looking up and seeing Beldur be thrown across the room. Her lips went into a fine line and she felt herself cracking her knuckles, feeling bad for the unfortunate soul that had pissed her off, not that it deserved her pity.

She screamed as she threw one of her daggers and watched as it hit the ogre in its head, landing dead on her target right between its eyes. She felt herself saying a string of cusses that she hadn't even realized she had been saying as she started stomping up to the damned ogre, just wanting the night to be over with so she could sleep. She was fortunate that her dagger had managed to severely injure the ogre but right now she wasn't thinking that way. As she got up to it she just started to continueslly stab it wherever her dagger happened to land, not realizing in her mind that it had died many stabs ago. The fact that her father had left with a few other darkspawn also didn't register in her head, no, she just kept on stabbing the ogre, the string of cusses still flowing from her mouth.

beldur groaned and watched as vin threw her dagger into the ogres head and slash at it. by the time he got up and made his way to her the fight had ended but vin was still slashing at it "vin, enough its dead" he panted putting his hands on vin's shoulders and pulled her away from the ogre. he viewed the carnarge that had happens. his eyes wide with shock. out of all the wardens, vins father. elend and the young mage woman had survived. he staggerd back and mae a gesture of prayer "oh creators. what happened? how did they get in without any of us sensing?.... why...."

beldurs question was answered but not the way he expected it. another darkspawn walked in. wearing clothes and having a large sword. it then spoke to beldur "he wanted you dead. he foretold that you would come. while youdefeated these. others likes us still roam the land. brotehrs come to me!"
at that moment shreiks. elven darkspawn appeared and held everyone at bay. even the few guards that had survived "the scheneschal said that the hero would be coming. he did not know. that you will die"

beldur whom also looked quite angry unleashed the spell that he seemed to have just learnt. the darkspawn grunted and knelt before beldur in a glow of magic "your kind have fell to me in two blights. you will be no different. i will fine your prophet and i will rend his soulless body limb from limb" as he spoke he shifted into his dragon form. and in one sweep of his tail he sent all the shrieks into one corner of the room. with his wings he buffeted the talking darkspawn who grunted. its eyes then widened in fear and screamed as beldur shot a burst of flames incinerating the group in a mass of writihng loud shreiks. he shifted back and wnet to vin after helping elend up "vin. oh thank creators your alive. are you hurt?"

Vin frowned and shook her head, hearing Beldur in the background saying something about the dead creature. She was going to continue to go at it but she felt his comforting hand on her shoulder and she looked down and grabbed the two of her daggers, giving it one more slash of fury before standing back up. She tried to wipe away the blood that had gotten all over her but, of course, it was blood and blood couldn't simply be wiped off. "I don't know . . " She commented back, her head throbbing and the haze of anger still clouded her vision.

A darkspawn that seemed different from all of the others marched in and started speaking, it's eyes focused on Beldur and she found herself shivering even though the gaze was directed to him. It looked scary and she really didn't want to be attracting it's attention. Maybe she would sneak bvehind it while it's attention was still on Beldur as it spoke of useless things and she could stab it in its heart.

Although Vin never got the chance to do that. Beldue cast his magic before Vin even had the chance to move from her spot. Beldur spoke to it, his tone harsh and truthful. She shivered when he spoke of finding the prophet and tearing the man limb from limb, it was so unlike him to get so angry from that. But then agani all of the other Wardens were dead now and she felt sorrow in her heart. They always died . . . She sighed, angry at herself for not being able to protect them. Beldur turned into a dragon and she managed to get out of the way before he swiped his tail, effectively getting rid of the rest of the Darkspawn. She and Elend were thrust into the same corner and she saw tears running down his face, probably from the others. She grasped his hand, not sure what else to do.

Beldur soon turned back and she stood, depsite the pain she felt from the fighting and grabbed onto him, giving him an embrass. She breathed in a few deep breaths before answering a short "I'm fine." She whimpered softly and closed her eyes shut, not in the mood to look at all of the dead bodies. "What just happened?" she muttered into his shoulder, feeling her eyes brim over with tears as she could hear a few moans from dying Wardens.

beldur held vin tightly pulling the crying girl as close as possible. he forced himself not to share her sorrow forcing the feelind of dread and guilt down making his voice sound calm "i...i dont know vin..... i have no idea" beldur rarely said it and everyone knew that. so for beldur to have no answers the chances are its never happened before "a talking darkspawn.... thats never happened before. nor have they been so consistant we have to find out whats happening"

elend walked over sniffing and wiping his cheeks "im sorry for you seeing me like this beldur" beldur just patted the crying man on the shoulder "i would think you a lesser man had you not cried elend. go and rest. you too vin. ill ... clean up" he said that with a bit of dread looking at the corpses "looks like we cant leave the wardens just yet so im still in charge as i am the oldest warden here. you." he pointed to vins father. the man didnt fight and beldur intended to make him regret it "you are the least wounded here. move the darkspawn corpses including the ogre. be wary of the talking darkspawn... he may still be hot" he waited till the man started moving the corpses before moving the warden corpses outside into the feild where he began to dig a mass grave taking up the whole feild he was in. he spread out the elves and climbed a tree gathering acorns. he then planted a single acorn plan over every elven corpse "may the creators recieve their souls and may the humans maker take them" he prayed for both races of warden but obviously spending a bit mroe time praying for the elven wardens that had died.

about 4 hours later at midnight beldur went back into his room silently. he removes his robes cleaned his muddy hands and climbed into bed with vin giving her a soft, long, loving kiss o the lips before sleeping with her
"in the morning vin we have alot to do. sleep well if we can"

Vin nodded and left back for the room, knowing she wouldn't be able to deal with all of the death. She crawled in the bed and closed her eyes, trying not to think of the horrific images she had seen. She didn't want to think about what had happened, she didn't want to remember the bodies of the people she had knew and become friends with, the young ones who had just recently joined. She didn't want to entertain the possibility that now they would now have to stay with her father that much longer and she definately didn't want to entertain the thought of what he was going to do. So instead she did the easiest thing that she could do; she fell asleep. She knew she would have nightmares and she hoped that she would have them when Beldur came back so she could have someone to hold on to. But Vin lucked out, she had no nightmares. Instead she slept numbly and didn't dream, not even stirring when Beldur kissed her good night.

It wasn't all bad, in fact, if you asked Vin's father, he would say things were just perfect. Yes, the knife ear did make him help with the bodies and he had to pretend to be sombre about it but he was gleeful. Everything was going just as he had been promised, if only a little set back. The Grey Wardens were dead, yes, but still, it was the one that he wanted dead that was still alive. It urked him slightly and he really wished that . . . he couldn't even remember his name. It just wasn't worth remembering, his species didn't deserve the recognition. They didn't deserve much of anything if he were to be frank. But after the knife ear left he was still far from sleep. He had deals to make, his leader expected it from him. He wanted to know the progress and he would have to be the one to break it to him that all of his darkspawn that he had sent died. It was troublesome really, he just wanted him dead. Once he died, everything would fall into place.

when beldur awoke, vin was still sleeping he wrote a note saying: "vin i love you with all my heart. lunch is on the dresser near the mirror. i will be waiting in the dining hall"

beldur and the female mage were still cleaning up the blood elend couldnt mop obviously because he only had one arm and so he went to get mroe servants to get fresh clothes and take the dirty ones away. beldur and the female mage spoke at lengths about magic as they worked with the many servants. vins father wasnt in the hall and when vin arrived he gathered elend and the female mage

"morning vin" he said with a kiss on the lips before adressing the others "me and vin will get to the bottom of this problem. you two will need to gather the senechal and help the people. and rule in our absence. elend your in charge of things while im away. we are going into the city of amaranthine to get any idea on what happened"

elend mentioned about some wardens from orlais had gone missing and beldur nodded "we will find them and get to the bottom. this could have ended worse if we were late. thank the creators we were early. there is also a dalish clan in the ruins of dales. we will speak with them. if anyone knows about darkspawn its them"

Vin woke up to a relatively light room, surprised that she had slept in for so long, especially considered that she went to bed relatively early the night before. She jumped out of bed with a yawn and a stretch before her eyes caught the note Beldur had left her. A small smile graced her face after she read it out and then sauntered over to the dresser, grabbing an apple and then heading towards the bathroom. She showered and got dressed in record time, having a feeling that she would need to do something rather soon thanks to the darkspawn the night before.

She left the room and met up Beldur in the dining hall and she was greeting with a kiss. She smiled once more and was glad that she had had the extra time to sort out her thoughts the night before. She listened to his plan and she nodded along, it would be a good chance to finally get down to the bottom of things while leaving the new Grey Wardens to themselves to try and recruit new members as well as organize themselves. It really did sound like the best option in her mind so she grasped his hand in agreement.

“That’s good, I’ll go get us ready and you finish up here.” She told him before giving him another kiss and leaving the room back to the one they had been staying at. She hummed a soft tune while packing up the things they two of them needed and sharpened their weapons. By the time she was satisfied she went back to meet up with Beldur and handed him his bag, Vin already ready to go out on their way to the Dalish clan. “Are we going to visit your family again or is it a different one?” She inquired, knowing that if it were a different one many of them would be wary of Vin once more.

beldur watched vin as she walked off taking in every detail before turning to elend "this will be your first true test as a warden commander. you will need to defend this with the few people you have and recruit more. i will send any recruits i find along your way"

he nodded and beldur jumped slightly at vin seeming to just appear next to him holding their bags. he was surprised at how little time she took. but he smiles and took his bag and his dagger which vin had sharpened. he then wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her into a hug
"ready to go? and it will be a different dalish clan. we are in a different country now vin. in ferelde alone there are 3 dalish clans and the number of clans in any given reigon usually remains the same. but martithari my clans keeper dislikes heading the direction we came so she goes accross the sea to the free marches"

beldur had a breif wonderof what the clan would be like when they find out vin and beldur are a couple. he was well known among the dalish as one of the faster learners of magic. and of course his sad story had been told on how he got infected by darkspawn while he was young. but they were thoughts for another time. he kissed vin and nodded to elend and gave the female mage a little wave before walking with her out of the keep. he smiled awkwardly at the servants who stopped whatever they were doing to bow or curtsie at him which beldur found odd. maybe vin knows why they do it.

they got out of the keep and were on the road again. the journey to the city would likely be about 3 hours and bring them into lunch time. beldur smiled at vin as they walked
"traveling again. excited? personally i would have liked a longer rest with you"

Vin nodded as Beldur told her all about the Dalish clans, suprised that she had never knownt hat information. She usually enjoyed knowing different things about Beldur's heritage and she disliked how little knowledge she did actually know about. But they soon found themselves on the march and Vin took Beldurs hand in her own, a small giggle bubbling onto her lips. "A longer rest would be nice but I guess there's just no rest for the wicked." She winked at him. "But we still have our alone time, just now we get to fight again." She smiled, knowing that settling down wasn't quite for her, she enjoyed the trill of the fight even though she loathed the gore and ichor or broken bodies. "And what was with that uncomfortable look on your face when we left? It was the bowing and curtsies, wasn't it?" She asked with a nudge of her elbow. She had found it quite humourous and still did, in fact. "They were showing you their respect. I guess they appreciate you for saving their lives countless times. You're a hero." She told him playfully, her pace faltering for a moment as she gave him a peck on the cheek.

But her foolhardyness was quite short lived as a small ruslting in the bushes made her become serious again. She stopped, her hand still in Beldurs as she looked around, not quite finding anything out of the usual. She let go of his hand and grabbed both of her daggers, getting ready for just about anything. She felt the taint and frowned, why hadn't she felt it before? Was she losing her touch or what? She cussed and put her back to Beldurs, not knowing where exactly they would attack. She tensed as all of her muscles locked and waited for the darkspawn to make the first move.

It didn't take long, moments later seven darkspawn emerged from the bushes. She cussed once more before taking a deep breath, unstensed her muscles and jumped forward, getting ready for her attack.

beldur smiled to vin as they travels the clear blue sky of morning said that a storm would be coming. beldur thought about going into a cave or the next village. the cave would probably be safer in case more darkspawn show up without either vin or himself seemingly to being able to detect them. he then looked to vin as she explained the bowing

"im not used to having respect shown. im just used to being called a demon summoner, a knife ear or just an elf in the tone most human nobles use. i do believe apart from the king and queen.... i think your the only one who has treated me as a person" in his mind beldur went over all the people he knew. there was wynne and irving but they didnt reat him as a person they treated him as just another mage, the templars certanily didnt treat him right

as they walked he felt a tingle in his mind. he knew it was darkspawn but...he couldnt tell hor far they were away. it was only when vin stopped him he was able to pin point them. but by the time he did it they were jumping from the bushes he felt vin go to his back, curse and leap into the action he started the battle with a walking bomb spell sending the darkspawn into the group that attacked him and explode sending the tohers flying. these were armoured darksapwn and so he knew they were still alive. and so he looked around and prepared a burning hands spell for when they get close

"vin are you ok?" he asked worriedly before turning to look while keeping an eye on his darkspawn

Vin had managed to sink her dagger into one of them before they all went flying. She frowned and remained confused for a few seconds until she realized that it was simply Beldur who had cast a spell. She grimaced and hoped that he was okay, hoping that he wouldn't tire easily. They still had a fair amount of marching to do and she didn't want him exhausting, resting on these roads would be dangerous considering the trouble they were having with darkspawn lately. She needed to figure the things out and something in the back of her mind kept on nagging her about her father. She didn't exactly no why but his actions were continuously causing her to suspect him. There was just something not right with him joining the Grey Wardens at his age, especially with his hatred for elves, and then surviving a fight that managed to kill off most of the Grey Wardens.

Her fists clenched against the hilts of the two daggers at his thought as her eyes darted from place to place, waiting for a Darkspawn to jump out of the bushes at any time. The reassuring feel of Beldur's back against hers made her feel incredibly safe. She didn't know if he knew the extent of what he did to her, how he managed to make her feel even while she was in danger, she had never really felt that way before. She smiled with her odd little realisation at the most awkward of times before smiling at his question. "I'm absolutely perfect Beldur. Are you okay?" She asked him, an undoubtable happiness in her voice.

But the Darkspawns apparently weren’t conscious of the little moment that she was having, that or they didn't care, because they jumped out of the bushes once more and Vin went at the three on her side with a renewed sense of vigor. It wasn't like she hadn't fought that number of Darkspawn before, hell, she had done it so many times she had lost count. It was just that they seemed stronger, something that struck her as incredibly odd considering that Beldur had just stopped the Blight practically himself. He was a hero, something that she didn't think he had quite processed yet, or had many ungrateful humans. But that never seemed to have stopped him before, something that made her quite proud of him.

She had stabbed one in the neck just as she felt cold steel bite into her torso, ripping through her black shirt on the side, leaving her an open wound. She winced but knew it wasn't that bad, there were no guts spilling, she would survive. She turned and punched the one who had just done that to her, her dagger in her left hand had gone flying a few moments before that killed off the second darkspawn. Her knuckles came back bloodied and the thing seemed to smile. She shivered but cried out as she felt another blade slice the back of her calf from the darkspawn she thought the flying dagger had killed. She frowned and finished off the darkspawn in front of her before she took her last dagger and threw it into his neck once more. The thing seemed to grin as it feel lifeless once more and Vin went to collect her daggers before she even thought about tending to her wounds.

She turned to Beldur and saw him finished off his Darkspawn and she frowned as he turned to look at her. "There's something wrong Beldur, they were creepy these guys. Before two of them died, they both smiled . . . and then there was one, I'm sure I killed it. . . ." She trailed off, unsure of her words. She looked down to see her wounds and the blood seeping out of them, blood was always so messy. She sighed before taking her bags and pulling out some gauze as she started to patch herself up.

"And their fighting techniques, I mean, don't they usually stab, not slice? It's like they were only playing with us . . ." She said as she pulled her shirt off and started to wrap the slice wound around her torso. She finished up quickly and then shuffled through her bag some more to retrieve a new shirt that wasn't covered in blood or torn. She bent down and fixed the slice around her calf, glad that she had worn shorts and she didn't ruin a pair of pants. She tossed the gauze around in her hands before looking at Beldur.

"Need any?" She asked, trying to snuff down her anxiety from their odd behaviour.

as the fight ended beldur frowned he couldnt sense anymore but in order to be sure he looked around and while vin was tending to her wounds, beldur mutterts a few words.

at first a few wisps of flame circled around him and they continually got bigger untill he was surrounded by a ring of fire, he spread his legs as if bracing himself, he seemed to grab the flames with his hands and lift it the flames stretching into a massive tornado of fire, the fires being magic didnt set flames to the trees but it did burn the corpses to a crisp, a few strangels screams from the dying ones were ehard. beldur and vin were in the eye of this fire storm and the wind and flames didnt touch them
"i am well vin, but you are hurt. can you walk or will i need to carry you? i will also deal with any fights from here to amaranthine.

as for the darkspawn i have no idea what they are doing. they are acting with intelligence. but the arch demon is dead...both of them, there cannot be a thrid blight as i have had no nightmares about a new archdemon. and these armoured ones are too tough to be normal. why they would target us is obvious, but how did they know about the orleasian wardens"

beldur looked both puzzled and irratated, he didnt know and he hated not knowing. the flames died down and the only remains of the darkspawn were the melted remains of their weapons and armour. he step over to vin, kissed her on the lips and then turned kneeling infront of her so she could climb onto him "lets go, if you walk with these injuries youll only make them worse. and you are too pretty to be in pain" he said with a smile, not giving vin a chance to refuse he grabbed her by the upper thights and pulled vin onto his back before getting up and walking, vin could see in beldurs eyes he wasnt paying attention to the road but sensing for darkspawn as he walked. a few times beldur stumbled and noticed they were about to walk into a tree or fall on a rock and he swerved to avoid it

a few hours down the road, the tingle started
"more of them, stay out of the fight vin. your arms are working yes? climb the tree" he said as he set vin near the tree and walked into a clearing looking around as dark shapes growled in the bushes "you hurt my love, i cannot allow that. this will only hurt untill you die" beldurs entire body began to glow which caused fear and confusion among the darkspawn, they all rushed towards him jsut as he took his dragno form. it had been a while since beldur had been a dragon and yet the scars from his fights with the arch demon and his fights in the deep roads have left his many marks and tiny holes in his wings from the arrows and spears. the darkspawn went flying back in screams of surprise and beldur set to work on crushing these darksapwn who seemed like any other normal darkspawn, mindless ones

Vin wanted to disagree with Beldur, she really wansn't injured. In fact she believed that him carring her here was quite superfluous, she was more than capable to move on her own and fight, the gashes were hardly even bad. Perhaps just a change in bandaging when they got there would be quite sufficient. She sighed in exasperation as Beldur transformed into his dragon form, something that was way too soon after the recent blight to her liking.

She sighed, her temper turning increasingly upset for some reason, she was mad at the darkspawn and even at Beldur for not giving her a chance to fight, she felt like a child. But she still scrambled up the tree, not wanting to accendently get stomped by Beldur, who was much bigger than she was at the moment and she was in no mood to get squashed by a dragon. She didn't think she would exactly look good as a bloody stain on a road side, it was never her style.

She sighed, quite exasperated, trying to just sort her feelings out. She didn't enjoy not knowing about what was happening, the last blight didn't grate her nerves so much because she knew about it. Now, with everything happening, she had no idea. Something was screaming at her, trying to tell her about her father, which didn't exactly help her nevers either. She cracked her knuckles, peeking over at Beldur stomping the Darkspawn silly, their screams ringing in her ears. And after all the time she had killed them, it would seem like she would get used to their screams of death.

But she still wanted to cover her ears like a child each time she heard them. She peeked and saw Beldur finishing up and she scrambled back down the tree and pulled some more gauze out of her backpack, in the case that Beldur would need it. She walked over to him, her frown still dancing on her face. "Hey, Beldur, can humans help with darkspawn? Or can a darkspawn look like a human?" She asked him, trying to conjure up a few theories about things. She was confused and there was nothing Vin hated more than being confused.

after Beldur changed back leaving the bloody and charred corpses f darkspawn he looks behind to vin as she asked her questions then took a pondering tone "humans can help yes. the blaght we just defeated had been started by blood mages. they took over the minds of some darkspawn and forced them to dig, somehow they know where to look for another arch demon. as for darkspawn helping humans, i dont think so. normally it would be impossible but....im not sure anymore, maybe...." he looked confused again for a moment but shook his head and looked over the area probing with his mind "i cant sense anything vin, can you? if not lets hurry and hope we can undo the changes and get to amaranthine in the morning instead of mid day"

there were no darkspawn and after a kiss on the cheek they traveld the road again stopping for lunch and then once more for dinner talking about general things as they do very often "im sorry i didnt let you fight vin" he said during dinner as the sun was setting behind vin "its these darkspawn, the fact im unable to sense them is unerving, i got scared that you might get ambushed. its maddening, althought you probably feel the same way. how are your wounds? any discomfort?"

beldur had made a few decoys of them scattered around the opening to help alert them to the darkspawn incase he missed them, they spent the night in the same spot, beldur stayed awake constantly trying to sense them. he wanted vin to go to sleep but knew she wouldnt and was glad in a way. he loved spending time with her and so they kept watch hand in hand during the peaceful evening, the bird chriped and the bug made the background noise of forests.... as if the darkspawn have never existed. and this peace lasted all through the night

Vin stayed closely to Beldur, trying to share body heat with him as the night wore it. It was exactly what she needed, she had time to appreciate everything that she hadn't in a while. With Beldur that close to her, close enough that she was able to hear his heart thump gently in his chest. She sighed and spent the night there in silence, just enjoying the time. It was rare that she was able to hear herself think, the complete lack of noise was practically welcoming to her. She sighed in contempt and took hold of Beldur's hand, letting the thoughts that has been bugging her in the back of her mind just come out, she needed to sort them out once and for all.

They weren't good thoughts, they were mostly concerns about her father. It was odd that a man of such age with such a hatred towards everything to just become a Grey Warden. She didn't understand how he was able to survive after everything, it made no sense. He gave her such a sense of unease, she wanted to cower behind Beldur ever time she had to face him, it was unbelievable. She felt her hand trail to the scar that ran from her hip bone to her bellybutton and frowned, letting her hand rest on it. She didn't trust the man, he gave her no reason to ever trust him. Espicially now that she had the knowledge that he could actually help out with the Darkspawn, she would have to speak to Beldur about that at a prior time.

But peace could only last so long and soon the sun had risen and Vin stood up, helping Beldur up with her. They had to travel again, they needed to find out what was happening with the darkspawn. Vin doubted it was a blight but it still made her awkward to know that there was something happening that she didn't know about. She didn't want to not be a Grey Warden when things like these were happening. But with a quick kiss, they were marching once more.

-x-x-x-x-

The familier tingle swirled within his mind, the useless way to say that there were darkspawn nearby. Vin's father almost wanted to snort at that, he would know when there was Darkspawn nearby, he needed no superfluous tingle to tell him. But even though it proved to be an annoyance to this strict man, he still enjoyed the occasion tingle of his mind when one slipped through his presence, it made him feel more alert.

His gaze turned to a nearby strider, the creature resembling a grotesque spider and his mouth split into a smile, it was only one out of dozens he had. And that was only striders, he had every type of darkspawn that anyone could wish for and then more, he was going to something he had wanted to do for a long time with the help of the Darkspawn and for such a small price.

First, he would wipe out the elven race. That was something he was going to enjoy doing, espicially when his insolent daughter had gotten with one, the dumb bitch had never known much of anything and hardly knew up from down. She had always live in too much of a cloud, too caring; he didn't like it. But after that, he would gather him armies and attack everywhere at once. He would have enough to do so and with so many places taken under siege, he would be able to mold them all to his pleasing.

Yes, all he had to do was wait, the darkspawn were gaining their strenght in ways that he himself hardly understood and their numbers were something boredering on obscene. This would be perfect.

the large city of amaranthine opened up as a fortress, there were farms and small markets then the giant stone walls of the city. a castle in its own right where hundreds if nto thousonds of people gathered everyday. as beldur and vin walked into the city people stopped and looked at the both of them. it took a few hours since first light and beldur walking with vin an arm around her waist were drawing attention and excited mutters. people knew they were the heros of the blight but some were asking if beldur was the arl and some argued how he left the wardens

beldur felt awkward again being the focus of such attention. some of the women said he was handsome and others said they were both a pretty couple. it seems their relationship was well known throughout the land which made beldur feel even more awkward. but they headed for the tavern where they were given water to quench their thirst
"ok vin lets ask around the market. someone is bound to know something. we are looking for a miner who found an entrance to the deep roads. and asking about the marchant caravan attacks. if you find something call me"

with a kiss to the cheek and a smile he started asking people. beldur was never one to get the hang of mingling. espically with humans. and as such he often tapped them on the shoulder to get half an insult before the patron figured out who he was and stammered apologies or beldur would just pull a man from random to a side and asking questions. he didnt seem to be getting much luck though but beldur hoped vin would have been able to. in about half an hour he must have heard "knife ear" about twenty or thrity times. and everytime the word wasnt finished. people knew beldur, they knew him to be one of the most respected and feared mages of all time. a mage rarely commanded the power he did without blood magic. but of course dalish mages rarely became famous

Vin herself wasn't having a difficult time talking with people; she was naturally a social person which often helped her out in situations just like these. Flashing a smile made people more than willing to talk to her, especially when the connected her with the girl who was dating the famous Grey Warden who had already stopped 2 blights. Each time she heard that she beamed, she enjoyed the recognition he was getting; although she still heard knife ear a few times, which she had to clench her fists to stop herself from knocking the person out. She was worried about how Beldur was doing, she knew that he didn’t like humans and especially didn’t get along with them. She frowned and rubbed her hands together to try and warm them up as she looked for more people to talk to.

But the information was rather scarce, apparently most people didn't look out for the things she was looking for, which was somewhat irritating. She sighed and found her way around the market place, looking at the sun a few times. The air was becoming more frigid as time wore on and her breath was starting to come out in small puffs. Her earlier injury bothered her a bit with a dull throbbing but it was enough to shrug off. The night was wearing thin and the hope of gathering information started to grow more and more pathetic. She wondered if Beldur had managed to get anything out of it and her mind started to stray towards Elend, she hoped he was having good luck with recruiting other Grey Wardens.

She sighed in exasperation, nothing was happening. These people were just frustrating her with their consistent questions about Beldur, they were hardly focusing on the question. The ones that seemed to be listening to the questions promply freaked out afterwards. It was exasperatung more that it was helpful and by the time it was dark, Vin gave up. She sighed and walked over to the place where she was to meet up with Beldur and leaned up against a wall as she looked around. There was really no need for her to pay attention, she was in a city after all, the chance of getting a tingle in her mind was rare to none. She started to hum, trying to think about the little information she had received today; which was quite scarce. Merchents were being attacked but no one was willing to point any fingers at who or would tell any suspicions. So as far as Vin knew, nothing was happening besides the obvious.
