another blight starts on a wounded ferelden

1,483 readers have visited Dragon age Reborn since Penfold created it.

Introduction

hello. i am thinking of doing my own custom sotry based on the dragon age origins. based on some of the ending ive had in the story along with some things ive thought up of myself.

basic plot is this: the blight has ended alister is now the only veteran grey warden. set free to train the rest from queen anora from the greywarden that gave their life to end the blight.

they have recruited and now stand 4 strong (so me and 4 others as alister is an NPC wanting at least one other grey warden. if the other for want to be grey wardens fine. but if there are two grey warden spaces left ill NPC them as staying to defend the land in ferelden given to them by queen anora)
but not all is peaceful within ferelden. Paragon Branka is working ont he anvil of the void and producing golems hoping to reclaim the lost thaigs. it is thought the dwarves will get their old empire but something has gone wrong setting up a possible new blight before ferelden has time to recover.

Malificarum from the circle of magi able to elude the surviving templars have gone to the dwarvern city of orzammar where they traveled to the anvil of the void to study the anvil while branka works on it. under the guise of trying to replicate the enchantments on it to make brankas work go faster. but when they got there the malificarum used blood magic to over power branka and the guards and steal valuble control rods. allowing them to control the golems branka made and set on releasing more dark spawn. in doing so they had dug up and tainted an old god making yet another archdemon. will the new grey wardens be enough to reach the archdemon before it fully awakens and starts a new blight once more with the wounded ferelden?

ok as for the nations heres what happened in the game (story wise)

the dalish: died but there is another clan (so no saying you were zathrians first because they died) the werewolves had moved to the kocari wilds.
Bhelen: is king of the dwarves and to move the dwarves into modern times allowed branka to use the anvil.
the magi: were saved but is wounded (only one mage must be allowed. if two apply i will see whos story is better and offer another part)
the demon that had inhabited connor was told to go away and may pop up again (dun dun dunnnn) and niether connor nor isolde died.
andraste's ashes were open to pilgrims and are now spent
haven has now closed the gates to outsiders all together.

i will want approval for charcters so ill give the basic run down of what i want posted.
Username:

out of the corner of beldurs eye he saw vin waiting and he followed shoving a few people aside so he could fit past, not hard obviously but he did her grumbles as her left. he stood next to vin and rested an arm on her shoulders "i found nothing, how about you vin?"

after hearing her he thought for a moment "i did however hear about a man they call darkwolf, who can get any information for coin. if he is as good as people seem to think he is he may be worth a try" he brushed a lock of hair out of vins eyes and kissed her brow gently "come lets head to an inn thats more...civil"

he tugged vin along just as a bar fight was about to start, possibly over who set beldur on them as beldur had a tendancy to pull them aside spilling their drinks.

they wandered the now black streets of the city, it was quiet except for the grunting behind them, cats sat outside in various places mewling at each other. beldur had a soft spot for cats and he brought one over and petted it, the cat liked the petting then ran off he led them to an inn where they would sleep for the night, beldur paying ofcourse. he stayed awake while vin slept in bed holding her close and when morning rose he spoke while they were eating
"we can try a few different inns or where ever city people gather, or we can try this darkwolf. what do you think?"
he asked flicking a bit of water at vin with a small chuckle

Vin's eyebrow quirked at the mention of some guy called Darkwolf, which was rather odd. She had never heard of the name, in fact, most people who talked to her seemed more than hesitant to reaveal their information. It seemed like Beldur had done a much better job than her, something she was rather proud of. It seemed like he didn't seem so wary around humans anymore, something that was rather useful when they tried to search for information. In fact, although he still hesitated sometimes, which even Vin did, he socialized better with them then Vin did.

"I think this Darkwold guy would probably be our best lead. I mean, even if you do have to pay for information I think his would be the best. So it's probably worth checking out him." She gave Beldur a smile and after returned the flick of water with one of her own. She giggled and grabbed Beldur by the hand, gathered their things and quickly left the inn, trying to ignore the looks that they seemed to be getting. In fact, as they left a few people bowed to Beldur, trying to show their respect to the elf who had saved them all from the Blight. She smiled and grabed his hand, lacing her fingers through his and left the inn. She looked around and after a quick question, she set off torwards where they were supposed to go.

She rambled for quite a while, enjoying at how it felt like old times. She didn't seem to get any tingles, which made her content because she still hated the Darkspawn. Although she did keep the dagger Beldur gave her close to her, the blade comforting her more than she would have liked to admit.

"So, where exactly is this Darkwolf?" She inquired with a small smile, excited to get the information.

beldur eyed vin as he was tugged, chuckling at her renewed vigor. she seemed to have been depressed and upset over the recent events, which is understandable however seeing her grin again renewed his own vigor keeping his spirits up. he sped up a bit and took the lead now leading her to a dark corner. as they arrived at the alley quite a few men surrounded both of them "what do you want? two love birds in a dark alley?"

beldur set his free hand alight revealing his face. fear washed over the men as they saw him. a fear beldur knew all to well, he even enjoyed the fear he inspired "show me to darkwolf"

the men stayed far away from him and one ran to get the man and he arrvied quickly "can you find out whats causing the darkspawn to stay above ground?" the man nodded and a pouch of gold exchanges hands

"come back later, in the meantime i suggest you check the wending wood. Caravan attacks have been going on it seems. Could be darkspawn" the darkhooded man said before walking off, beldur turned to vin as squeezes her hand “shall we go the wood now or later?, its your choice but i would suggest we go now. but i dont want you exausting yourself"

Vin turned and smiled at Beldur, he always worried for her. It was about the only constant thing in her life as long as she could remember and it was absoloutely reassuring. She really didn't appreciate tat on a daily basis but when she thought about it, it was actually endearing. Out of the meager people she had actually gotten close to in her life, Beldur was the only one who actually cared for real. She smiled and took a hard look at him; the soft curve of his lips met familiar flesh that she knew all too well, a handsome nose and a strong jawbone with slight rubble. Understanding, brilliant eyes followed that she always enjoyed staring into, trying to figure out the mystery that he proved to be. She knew that you can really never know a person completely but his eyes made her want to, she wanted to just sit there for hours, listening to his past.

She touched his face, her fingers resting on his cheek as she stared into his eyes, her own inquisitive. She wanted to be there forever with him, but she knew how unlikely that was. Grey Wardens lived short, fast paces lives and she would be lucky if they would be able to squeeze perharps another ten years out of it. She also knew, even though she hated thinking about it and the mere thought made her spine tingle unpleasently, she wouldn't always be able to protect him. Things happened and they lived a dangerous life and it didn't matter how much she loved him, it wouldn't stop the world from taking place. She sighed and removed her hands from his face, putting them on her thigh for the moment and gave Beldur a cheesy smile, still slightly lost in thought.

"You don't need to fret about me Beldur, it wasn't the deep." She glanced at the other men, making sure they knew that she wasn't that harmed and she could still fend for herself; just in case they got any thoughts of mugging them with an injured Grey Warden, even though it was quite unlikely because Beldur was around. "But going to the woods sounds like a good idea, getting rid of unwanted Darkspawn is always fun." She grinned and gave Beldur a small wink, assuring him that she would not exaust herself. She, like always, was not worried about exhausting but instead of how many there would be, being outnumbered was never great fun. But the challenge, on the other hand, was great fun.

She took ahold of Beldurs hand, giving a nod and a promise to return later to the other men as she walked away with Beldur. She pursed her lips and walked in silence, simply listening to the crunch of gravel under her feet. It was one of those sounds that she really enjoyed listening to, it always just sounded right. Her free hand found itself in her hair as the slight wind made it sway. She would need to cut it again, it was getting too long for her tastes; she hated when it got in her face in battle. Long hair was a simple annoyance to her although she would probably murder Beldur if he cut his, it just looked good on him.

"Do you really think there are Darkspawn chilling out in the forest attacking caravans? I mean, I can see it happening but it sounds more like a petty thives thing. But I guess it is worth a look, you never know, right?" She asked Beldur, looking around at the ruddy, twilight sky. The nights first few stars where already out, trying vainly to light up the night, the slight outline of the moon doing a better job. As they walked further, trees started to block out the sky, making it seem much darker than it really was. But, with her hand in Beldur's grip, she felt safe. Her eyes surveyed the area as they continued walking, a comfortable silence falling between the two.

The silence lasted for a while and Vin sighed, there was still no signs or anything or anyone. "I seriously doubt there's anyone here Beldur. But do you want to be safe and cover extra ground and split up? Because if there were darkspawn I'm sure they would have attacked by now. Now I just think we're looking for a few thieves who have nothing better to do than rob caravens." She told him, pulling her hand out of his and resting them on her torso, on of them compression her wound that had been pulsating, nothing she couldn't handle though, she had had worse. "Want to?" She said, a small smile on her face, not that he would be able to see it that well in the darkness.

beldur eyed the men knowing they were too fearful of him. people had many reasons to be fearful of beldur, because he was an elf, because he was a mage, because he was a dalish and because he was a grey warden. his previous companions told him many times he was like the grey wardens of old, fearful yet awe-inspiring. dangerous yet protecting. powerful yet humble.

he stared into vins eyes attempting to guess the relationship her and her father had such thoughts left him to wonder about his own father but old memories returned and he pushed them away, it was old images of a life long since dead to him, he listened to vin and the men speak at length as he often did, while he was obviously the leader of the wardens he disliked the act of leading himself, he was always one to do things himself, to him it was so he knew it was done, but vins case, he did things himself because he hated seeing her covered in her own blood, he pictured her naked his thoughts focused on all the scars upon her body each with a story to be told. he wasnt used to hearing a story with similar pain as what he had gone through as he lived with the mages most of the time...."funny" he thought. he rememberes his time at the tower first than his time with the dalish
"well we can see if darkspawn are there or not but i hear darkwolf is never wrong. but we will see, lets go then vin if your sure your up to it"

as they walked away beldurs long ears twitched as he heard the people sigh with relief and each one mention something they feared about him "bloody dalish, Dammed elves, filthy mages" but the last one caught his attention for it was simply: "grey wardens" the last comment obviously being about both of them as they walked in the moonlight appraoching the woods it was pitch black and beldur tensed, the veil was weak here, this forest had a similar story to the brecillian forest. "ahhh i remember being here as a child. this is one of the few woods that a clan lives here permamently. if you asked a dalish where their home was. this is the closest thing to being a third home" as they walked deeper he thought about vins question in silent no, we will not split up in the dark. they walked before beldur kicked something and stumbled over falling, it was a corpse he saw, a spearhead standing head up stabbed beldur int he thigh and he grunted loudly. there was then a snapping sound as beldur and vins mind felt the familiar feeling of darkspawn, aswell as something else. but beldur felt yet another thing. a mage was here, somewhere

The first thing to make Vin aware that there was something wrong was the corpse on the ground. Vin, being the brilliant girl she was, was quite aware of the fact that corpses meant that something unenjoyable was about to occur. But that was only from her experiences which weren't exactly the most positive experieces. But her danger raydar sent alarms through her body, sending a burst of adrenaline to acompagny it when an arrowhead went into Beldurs thigh. She gritted her teeth and turned to Beldur to see if he was alright, just as the feeling of darkspawn shot through her mind, hitting her like a brick wall. Small starburst went off behind her eyes and her head was left with a ringing noise, something she wanted to buzz out with fighting. She ignored it, instead breaking the wood off of the spear, only leaving a small piece in his thigh, knowing that if she hadn't it could've gotten caught on something.

Vin glanced at his face before turning around, knowing that being back to back was the safest way to protect herself. His face ligered in her mind, something didn't look right. It wasn't filled with his usual fill of determination and slight ange; his face was filled with curiousity and confusion, it was the only words she could use to describe it. It sent alarms through her body, why would Beldur be confused about something? He never was and just knowing that confusion was lingering in his mind made her feel uncomfortable, in her mind Beldur knew practically everything.

But this was no time for a racing mind so she turned the switch off in her brain that made her overthink things and instead pulled her daggers out of the sheathes around her wast, leaving the dagger that Beldur got her on the sheathe around her thigh, only for emergency use. Her eyes peeled through the darkness, trying to spot something that would clue her in to what was happening. It didn't take long before she heard Beldur's breathing intake to increase for her to know that something was definately wrong.

After that, chaos.

Vines, that she hadn't even seen coming, whipped themselves around her wrist, leaving superficial skin tears on her forearm. She hissed but was quick to cut them with her dagger, wondering what was happening. This was something that a mage would do and she sincerly doubted that there was a mage around; it made no sense. Was Beldur just pranking her?

The thought had no time to developpe nor did she get enough time to realize that it couldn't be Beldure from the arrow in his thigh, another sent of vines wrapped around her ankles, snaking their way up her calves, squeezing. She cussed and quickly started to squirm, trying to detach the strange forestation from her. The sound of fighting behind her told her that Beldur was more than busy, leaving her to fend for herself. Her arms trembled as she tried to ignore the constant stinging from her legs, it was too close for her comfort. But they weren't like the first ones, tentitive vines that were provoking at best, these were too thick to cut and not as much as a warning and more of an 'I want to kill you'. She grunted and squirmed, the vines seemingly having a life of their own. They jerked which sent Vin to inadvertedly fall on her ass, leaving her glaring up at the clearing in the trees.

The glare was when she saw him; knowing his position helping her. Mages relied too much on their power and left themselves to become weak physically, something she could hopefully take advantage of. She tried to pathetically cut at the vines but nothing seemed to cut them. She squirmed some more before she realized the more she seemed to squirm, the looser their hold became.

With that advantage, the vines were out from her in no time, still leaving her at a dasadvantage; there was no way she would get to a mage by herself, espicially one that seemed to be cast happy. She looked around but decided that going at him would be best, maybe she would get lucky.

But, alas, Vin had never been a lucky girl and the second she had taken more than two steps, her feet seemed to sink into the ground. She sighed in exasperation, the mage was toying with her, he was self confident enought in his authority to play with her before desposing of her. And it was no help in the quick sand trap that he seemed to find so amusing. Through snickers that she was certain was the mages', she tried to get out of the trap, eventually getting out with a pathetic amount of struggle.

What the Shit?

Vin's mouth clamped shut before she turned and looked over at Beldur fighting through the crowds, she was going to change this up a bit. "Beldur, get that mage before I kill myself trying." She yelled at him, as she switched enemies. She knew she wouldn't be able to get close enough to the mage to do any real damage, but she was oh so good with close up combat. She gave him a small smirk as they passed, her good spirits high once more. There was no way she would lose this fight.

The magic this hidden mage was using aswell as beldurs was similar. beldur then knew, they were figthing a dalish mage. but he couldnt think about that every time vin stuggled he turned his head to look but another wave of darkspawn game up, this was too many darkspawn he thoughts and he sent a small white wisp into one as it exploded sending more small white wisps into more making them explode. a thick cloud of blood drenched beldur as it sent the rest of the dark spawn flying to the side, in this breif respite beldur picked vin out of the quicksand and gave her a kiss on the lips knowing she was agitated "leave the mage to me vin. and be careful. i cant sense all these darkspawn which means some of them are intelligent, i know im asking alot of you but youll need to keep your eye on the darkspawn and on the mage incase he still goes for you... who ever it is, they know dalish magic so hopefully my plan will work"

he spun around vin making a nova of ice freezing some darkspawn that were going to jump onto beldur, with a wink to his love he turned to face the mage and shouted out in the ancient elhven "Na Melana Halam Ar tu na'din Emma shem'nan Ma emma harel" what he said was "your time has finished, i will kill you, my revenge is swift and you should fear me" obviously talking about the mage hurting vin. in beldurs voice was a fire that Vin heard when the archdemon had hurt vin. he was mad now and the mage knew it sending vine after vine swirling at beldur but Beldurs own vines countered it and the duel of the nature mages began. they started off matching each other move for move. who ever this mage was, he was skilled in magic. maybe even a keeper. But beldur was no longer a dalish my technicality. he was a grey warden and as such he thought. despite his sadness to think this... ."i am free to kill him for i am no longer a hunter" this saddened him as he loved the dalish, but he loved vin more.

The darkspawn rallied and both vin and beldur could hear the intelligent ones giving orders normal hurlocks which vin and beldur could sense came two at a time from either side which wouldnt be hard for her vin thought. every time a vine went for vin beldur went out of his way to parry often taking a hit from another vine. he didnt make a noise though knowing vin was concentrating and he had to protect her. he sent his vines at the tree and ripped it in half, throwing the halves into the darkspawn mass as he focused on the mage. the veil was thin here.... beldur hoped he wouldnt get possesed during the fight. he had too much to concentrate on he didnt pay attention to the whispers in his mind

The Darkspawn was something Vin was more familiar with, which meant that they didn't really stand much of a chance. It was still a challenge to defeat that many at the same time but somehow she managed, this is what she had spent years training. There was no way she would lose; it was practically systematic to her. The strange rambling that was coming from Beldurs mouth made her laugh, right in the heat of battle, she had no idea what he was saying but she knew that it must've not been exactly nice. With the sound of her laughter, something that even sounded odd in her ears at the moment, followed with another darkspawn body collapsing to the floor. Easiest battle she had been in all day, which wasn't exactly something because a mage wasn't comparible to Darkspawn.

The Darkspawn, much like the mage, only seemed to be toying with her. Their attacks weren't impressionable and the battle was easy for that. She, more than once, had to fight off an angry one that seemed to stray too far to try and attack Beldur. They seemed to want to get to him, something that peeved her off more than she was before. Why would they want Beldur, perhaps it had something to do with the mage? She really hoped Beldur wouldn't off it off before he managed to get a clue out of it. Taunting was essential but she doubted Beldur would, he was more of a get to the point type of guy.

Heads continue to roll, although their attacks increasing difficulty. Vin continued to fight, blood covering herself, the blood of Darkspawn mingling with some of hers as she got injured. She still felt the stab wound that she had received some time ago strain in the battle, the tissue lossening in battle. She hissed with pain as sharp nails dug into her shoulder, drawing blood. The blow was received with one of her own, stabbing the thing. She smirked, scanning the others. Not many left but she could still spot something within the groupings of the tree, almost as if it was waiting for an oppertunity. She turned, deciding to ignore it when out of the corner of an eye she saw a tree being torn in half. She gulped, glad that it wasn't her lying in half on the floor. But she tossed that thought out of her head and fought through the darkspawn, offing off more than what she felt comfortable with, where were they all coming from?

The mage revealed herself which beldur found surprising from what he rememebred only his clan had female keepers. the dalish markings on this elven mages face were clear, her eyes seemed a bit wild and feral as if she wasnt in control of her senses, she often threw magic at both beldur and the darkspawn "you travel with this weakling shem! i sense darkness in you. grey warden you fight me rather than the darkspawn. perhaps the stories are all lies" beldur visibly growled and lashed out with some more vines towards her, the female dalish casued root to surround her delfecting his attack and she seemed to have teleported to a tree. the intelligent darkspawn began to flee seeing the mage fight and how devastating vin was in battle leaving a surprisingly low number of darkspawn left "the architect must been informing of this. the grey wardens have been coming here!" the leader of the warband called. what little darkspawn remained surged on vin and both beldur and the dalish mage seemed to get exausted.

all the deaths from the darkspawn opened a tear in the sky spirits flew into the trees deforming them and making them come alive. beldur gasped and push vin aside as spiked roots came out of the ground towards them, them being back to back would have hurt both, after shoving vin back beldur copied the other keepers magic sending roots around him and teleporting to the nearest tree, which happened to be these alive ones. then with a breif moment beldur summoned a towering inferno burning the trees to a crisp. spirits went into both beldur and the dalish and the familiar flickering between beldur and demon began once more.

he had been careless, the fight exausted him and he forgot to pay attention.... this was a lesser demon and could easily be resisted but it had entered now and it would be harder. beldur began flickering from him to a rage demon. a being of fire and hatred, a shadow of what beldur was feeling. fire began to seep from beldur like blood setting the ground alight

Vin gasped as she saw the sky just tear open, what the Hell? She was certain that the two mages fighting had something to do with it, which obviously meant it wasn't good. For once why couldn't Beldur accedently tear a hole in the sky to a secret garden, now that would be nice. Vin had never been one to linger on wishes and pushed it out of her mind. The trees seemed to come alive around her and her intuition was telling her that a dagger would not solve this problem. Roots were wisking about, the trees looking demonic in the dead of the night, it was incredibly eerie. One shot towards her but she didn't register it, the next thing she knew she was sitting on the ground with a suddenly sore butt. She looked up at Beldur who was apparently just teleporting all over the place. She got up, trying to stay out of the way of stay root which actually proved to be quite difficult because of the sole reason they were going after her with a vengeance.

She hopped around for a few moments before she saw an inferno of flames rushing towards her. She cussed and shot down to the ground, feeling the heat pass over her. She huffed, blowing the stray hair out of her face. Today was definately not her night. As much as she enjoyed romantic strolls in the forest in the middle of the night, darkspawn trying to murder her, an avenging mage, bewitches trees and killer flames wasn't top in her book of things that she genuinely liked.

She stood up, dusting the dirt off of her and look around at all of the burnt trees. She didn't care how bad that was for the environment, as long as she didn't end up as fertilizer for the trees. There was nothing left to fight though, she had lost count of the mage as well as Beldur so she immediatly when looking for him. She found him near the center of the flame marks on the ground, obviously, absoloutely exhausted. "Hey, Beldur, are you okay?" She asked him, wondering how badly hurt he was. She crouched down and rubbed his cheek with her thumb, noticing his obvious struggle with something. "What's wrong Beldur?" She asked him.

She notcied something leaking from Beldur before she actually felt the heat. The second she noticed the flames seeping from him, she jumped away. She tried to stamp it out with her shoe, only to end up burning herself. Great, another awesome addition to the awesome list of awesome things that happened to her tonight. She groaned and pulled her dagger out, not knowing who she would have to kill to stop this. "Beldur, seriously, what's wrong?" She asked, her teeth clenched together.

Beldur screamed in fury spreading fire everywhere the female dalish leaped onto vin pushing her away from a large fire blast "you idiot shem! dont you see an abombination when you see one? do you want to die or are you just naturally stupid?"
the dalish elf sent more roots around beldurs limbs holding him in a vulnerable pose and drawn a dagger exactly like the one vin has and began to walk to beldur.

thoughts raced through beldurs mind. he slipped up again. why? he never has? it was not knowing about the darkspawn. it was the keeper who was marching on him now this was a rage demon possessing his body. why cant he resist it. had his plan with the archdemon caused beldur to be too weak? the last time this happened it was a desire demon. he remembered it clearly. it first began whispering to him when he wanted to kill the templars. and then again when he wanted to recall alot of the old lore, and he did. he brought shapechanging to the dalish and brought the nature magic to his clan. he even gave the art of reversing burns from the first's mistakes. what else could this have done?he didnt know. but he knew he was weak but also his rage was strong.

the firey demon that had replaced beldur was strong and burning away the roots but not faster than the dalish elf could replace them
"he has been possesed by a demon. there is only one way to cure him now, he knows this!" she spoke as she advanced. and beldur screamed somehow peircing the demon his voice booming and yet faint, calm and yet struggling "NO! ive reveresed this before!" with a scream of pain and rage he lauched at the dalish who deftly sidestepped a flaming wall seperating vin from the keeper and vines covered the demon once more.

"vin. help me!" he screamed in his mind but it wasnt enough.... he waitied a moment and urged his soul to scream
"Vin....help.....me" beldurs voice sounded once more before the demons voice was also heard "the desire demon failed where i have won. you are mine and the knowlege of the elves will belong to all demons...once ive destroyed you and this elf...and the other mortal"

Vin only felt a the slight burn of fire before, once more, someone decided it would be a great idea to leap on her. She glared up at the female mage, wondering why exactly she thought that was a good idea. She was trying to kill her just seconds ago and now she thought she would be nice and save her? Seriously, there was something with mages about their decisiveness, she was positive of it. She clenched her teeth at the words she said. "Oh please, do you know how many times I've been through this, believe me, I'm not naturally stupid. Although I can spot an abomination when I see one." She insuated at the dalish chick, someone Vin decided that she did not like, at all. She pushed her off of her and sat up, watching the female Dalish march up to Beldur.

That was when she mentioned that she would have to kill Beldur. Vin rolled her eyes, how much more dramatic would this night become? All she honestly wanted to do was sleep and start a new day, this one was becoming increasingly worse. And that mage must've not known that Vin was not in the mood today or apparently never heard the phrase 'Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned'. "Leave him alone, seriously, I don't know what your problem is but you need serious help. He'll be fine, he's strong." She told the mage, trying not to put the worry in her voice.

But she got cut off by a flaming wall and Vin screamed in exasperation, no way. That bitch Vin felt more frustrated then she had in a long time, she couldn't get past that wall, she was just a human. The mage was going to take advantage of Beldur in his weaked time . . . Vin didn't know what to do. She hated this and just felt all her rage and frustration ball up inside of her body, putting her hair at edge. She had never been this angry and she didn't know what to do, even the pit of her stomach was clenched.

And that was when she head Beldur calling her for help, followed by the female mage saying something completly irrevelant to her because she kept on replaying Beldurs words in her mind, her wrath building up when she didn't even think it was possible.

That was when she snapped.

She screamed once more, this time not from frustration but from pain. It felt like all the anger in her body just exploded, leaving all of her nerves on end. Her mouth gaped as the fire wall infront of her did some strange flickering before it was put out, leaving nothing before her. She panted, exhausted suddenly physically and mentally, not knowing what happened. Her mind was blank, her body was simply reacting to the situation it was given.

Vin lashed.

She glared at the chick mage, whipping her dagger at her. She saw the mage try and deflect it with vines, but was unsucessful. Somehow they had wilted, exhausting Vin more. She had no idea what she was going and how, but she was. The dagger hit her in the chest and Vin rushed over to Beldur, not even double checking to see if she was dead. The vines that were entraping him unfurled, wilting, and disintergrated. Vin opened her eyes, her mind ruching with a painful noise, feeling more drained than she ever had in her life. Her eyes couldn't seem to focuse but somehow her hand found Beldurs, not comprehending that the demon could still be within him. She shook, not from cold, but from pure exhaustion.

"What the fu-" She didn't even get to finish her sentence as she promptly passed out.

"what was that?" beldur thought then he was hit with an ice cold nova which shocked him back into control... he looked at himself and around, he saw the dalish mage on the floor and vin falling on him, he caught her and looked her over "from vin? no i coulnt be....she cant be a mage?" he thought. how did it happen? is magic a disease? could it be caught? how? maybe the blood of the archdemon during the fight? or the magic novas when him and the demon were exchanging wills?.....impossible...but it happend

he held vin close and stared into her face. it took a while but there was a faint aura about her
"impossible......" he spoke to himself. vin has somehow become a mage. the signs of mages start about 6 years of age and vin is much older than that. beldur felt tired and he fell backwards passing out aswell as if vin drained his own energy pool. when they awaken he would need to tell vin alot of things...."shes a smart woman she should be able to handle it" his hlast half concentrated through drifted accros his mind before silence.

In the grey brown blurry world of the beyond beldurs spirirt a veteran of being here looked around the defiled ruins of the city they always appear in. vin would be in a nightmare the first nightmare she would be awake in. he began to scan the fade for any erractic auras. a new mage of such power would attract every demon possibly. he needed to make sure vin didnt become an abombinatiion. a mage at the beginning has no limits to his or her power they get learned gradually. if vin got possessed now it could be unstoppable just the same as someone with power like beldur got possessed.
"v-vin!!" his spirirt echoed "v-vin. dont believe anything or anyone untill i get there"

the veil had closed aswell.....why? what did vin do? demons swelled around him but magic worked here just as it did in the mortal realm. so with ease beldur rid himself of the lesser spirirts chasing him. he glided to vins aura hoping he would get there in time. "creators lets me get there in time"

Vin knew she had passed out, she was positive. So why was she not passed out, instead she was standing in some sort of ruined city. She hunched her shoulders and crossed her arms, scared out of her mind. She was not here two seconds ago, she was in a forest. How did she get here, was she dead? The last thought struck her like a bunch of bricks, terrifying her. There was no way she was dead, she was too young. She knew it came with being a Grey Warden, but death wasn't this much of a wasteland, was it? She expected peace, nothing, but this definately wasn't it. She shuddered, it was just too eerie. The city was a wasteland of nothingness, was too quiet for her. The buildings were nothing more than a broken foundation, making her wonder what could have happened to it.

She felt hands on her back before she got pushed face first on the ground. She grunted and turned around, only to scream; a demon was standing before her. Her hands went automatically down to her daggers but they weren't there. Her hands patted dawn around her waist, panic suddenly surging through her veins. She was weaponless. The demon was whispering things, such obscene things. She tried to block it out, scrambling to her feet. She back up slowly, each step back she took the demon met with a step forward. She didn't want to run and keep her back to the thing, espcially with all the things it was whispering to her, taunting her with.

Her scream rang out once more as she back into something, sincerly doubting it was a wall. Nails dug into her shoulder as a raspy voice whispering her things she wanted to believe as lies. She tried to struggle out of its grasp but she couldn't, the thing was stronger than her. Yet it didn't seem like it was trying to kill her, only taunt her with her doubts, making her believe it. The other demon was too convincing to, her mind filling with their blasphemy. Voices seemed to fill up around her and when she looked up, she saw spirits filling the sky along with demon scattered everywhere. They were all trying to talk with her, telling her things she didn't want to hear.

Which was why Beldurs voice stood out like a beacon for her. After she heard his voice, she yelled his name out in responce, panicking. Had he died too? Did the mage stab them both? She didn't know what was happening and she absoloutely hated that. Her voice was desperate, calling out for Beldur. It may have been selfish of her to draw Beldur here but she had never been so confused and desperate in her life.

Beldur's head snapped in the direction of vins voice and in seconds he was there. the demon turned around and matched wills with beldur. a feat only the strongest demons could do and soon it screamed and fled. beldur looked at vin. a large magical aura was surrounding her. beldur was outstanded by the raw power vin seemed to have he slowly took a step towards her and reached out
"there is nothing i can say to make you believe me, but i am the real beldur you are in the beyond.... the sh- humans call it the fade. youve been here every night but not like this.... mages come here in a waking state able to think, feel and travel. but becasue of this we are beacons....we....you are a mage it seems vin, something i thought impossible but i saw and felt it..... that burst came from you and exausted you."

beldur hugged vin close and kissed her on the lips trying to calm the probably hysterical woman "we are our spirits and this..." he guestured around them "this is the black city... the seat of your maker. when you sleep your spirit leaves your body and comes here. here unlike others we are at our most powerful but also our most vulnerable. what you went through just then will happen every time you go to sleep or come here for some reason. you must keep your mind vigilent, believe nothing but me and if i come and ask to take you somewhere dont go. demons may mimic me and pretend"

he hugged vin close and wondered how many questions vin would bombard him with. Demons flew towards vin all the time but beldur stared at them matching their wills sending them away in the distance massive demons bigger than ogres were walking around not paying them anymind which beldur seemed relieved about, some of the demons whispered to him "i can give your people their homeland beldur. i can give you the power to defeat an infinate arch demons. i can make you life forever despite your warden curse" the whisperings came from a lilac skinned woman with an exposed chest, some lace covering her waist, a bone like tail and disgusting horns glowing with purple fire, beldur stared at the demon and it skulked off "you will be mine my sweet"

beldur sighed. it was here "so she survived the archdemon too....."this was a powerful desire demon..... the one that haunted him in the battle against the archdemon. trying to possess him then he put ehr out of his mind quickly and looked at vin

Vin only felt the claws letting go of her before she felt a new pair of arms around her, these ones familiar. She swallowed, still wondering if Beldur had died along with her. He started talking, Vin not really understanding what he was going at. There was no plausible way she was a mage, it just wasn't believable. Before she could deny anything his lips crushed her, capturing her in a kiss. But when it was over, she backed up, not certain what was happening. There was clearly no way that that could've really been Beldur; he knew for a fact that she wasn't a mage.

But she ignored the fact, he wasn't bothering her. She just wanted out of here, if there was an out. She bit her lip and looked down at her nails, ignoring the demon that seemed to be around the false Beldur, it wasn't something she was interested in. "Well, as interesting as this is, I'm not quite in the mood. I want to go back to wherever I came from and yeah. And I'm totally not in the mood." She said, her hands once more searching for daggers that didn't seem to be there. She huffed and looked around the rubble once more, just wanting out of this eerie place.

they stayed there for a while while beldur explained they stayed in the dream world when ever they wernt concious and that they can only go back once their bodies get better, and almost as soon as he said that both of them were awake. when beldur opened his eyes he saw the female elven mage approach with a dagger in her hand, he kicked it out of her hand and rolled away

"what did you do? answer me!. no mage can mend the veilwe can only open it" beldur mustered his authority which he rarely did, stood taller than the elf and looked down at her "you are a disgrace to the people. you openly attack grey wardens while there were darkspawn to fight? i see no more clan so i assume youve been exiled yes? im not surprised"

the elf seemed shocked at the sudden hostile words and shrunk back a bit looking at both of them in rage "the keeper wasnt fit to lead us, my sister has been taken by that talking darkspawn mage and the keeper wouldnt send any hunters to save her!" the elf explained about the silverite mines and why she was attacking the caravans. but said she will stop if beldur agreed to help her get the sister back. he sighed and rubbed his forehead and turned to vin "what do you think my dear? either way we will need to rest here im tired and i want to end this day"

Vin glared at the mage, not believing one word she said; she honestly didn't like her whatsoever. But if that's the only way she would stop being a self-righteous bi- Vin cut her thinking off and took a deep breath. She had no idea what was happening to her lately, apparently she was some kind of mage, which she didn't believe at all. But she did know she was more exhausted than she ever had been in her life, mentally and physically she had felt absolutely drained and she had no idea why. She did remember the wilting of the vines, but that could have been anyone, right? Even Beldur reaching out from in unconsciousness, she couldn’t admit to herself that it might have been her. She sighed and nodded and Beldur, letting him know that she would endure her. It didn't mean she was happy about it but it also didn't mean that she would complain about it.

She sighed and turned over, her eyes closing on their own account. For all she cared she could get stabbed in her own sleep, she was too tired to actually care. She soon drifted off in sleep once more, uncomfortable at the dreams she was having. It didn't last long, her dreams were to disturbing and vivid to actually sleep through. She woke up with a small gasp, eyeing the two sleeping mages and walked over to a patch of trees off in the distance, the few ones that were left in the direct vicinity. She sat down next to it, hugging her legs against her chest. It was still dark out and judging from the time they had actually managed to go to sleep at, she probably hadn't gotten much sleep. She still had that tired, sluggish feeling with her but she didn't want to have to relive the dreams again, they disturbed her more that she liked.

She thought back to when she and Beldur had stopped being Grey Wardens for a bit, it was so distant to her it was like it was in another life time; in fact she couldn't even remember if they had ever gotten married or not. Small memories from that time lingered in her head but not many, it just seemed so insignificant. Most of her memories were full of dying comrades, the terrifying monsters in the blight, slaughtering Darkspawn over and over again. Her memories were ones she never thought she would have and she was surprised how much it was begging to take toll on her. She shuddered and wiped away a tear that happened to sneak its way down her face and looked out in the darkness of the night.

Beldur tossed and turned having nightmares of his own, mostly of vin becoming an abombination he shuddered awake early and looked around seeing vin was gone. he looked around worriedly and saw her by a tree, he went over to her and hugged her tightly "your alive....good" he sighed happily and sat next to her keeping an eye on the mage while resting an arm over her shoulder pulling her close. he felt that vin has had a rough few days and he wasnt entirely close enough to comfort her "nightmares? do you want to tell me about them?"

he was going to spend the early hours talking like they used to waiting for the dalish elf to wake up so they could head into the mines. when she did awake she said very little having taken beldurs words to heart and lead them silently into the mines, beldur standing close to vin at all times. when the door to the mines opened beldur and vin were hit with the tingling sense of darkspawn inside as if they were in the deep roads with beldurs first fight against the archdemon, he even shuddered at it before moving infront of vin in a clearly defensive stance.

the mines were deep and dark the halls spanning for miles up and down in large caverns. the odd darkspawn corpse could be seen on the ground along with several dalish elves which made beldur quite depressed. quite a few corrupted spiders could be seen skitting high up on the caves and the sounds of fighting and darkspawn growling echoed from deep within. beldur and the salish mage set their hands alight to light up the room, beldur sighed and whispered to vin
"this is what it means to be a grey warden vin. never rest, never peace. it was like this during the first blight before i met you. you've made it tolerable" with a depressed smile and then a sigh he moved on whispering to the dalish woman in the elven tounge. the elf and beldur stopped as their elongated ears twitched, beldur grabbed vin as foot steps could be heard and an unfamiliar voice echoed followed by one speaking in an unusual manner. it was obviously a darkspawn talking

"how goes our plans to capture the grey wardens?" the first voice said. it was a clam and soothing voice yet a booming bass to it
"it is being much more difficult thanh foretold. the female is strong and enduring the others are fearful of fighting her including the ogres.and the male is the famous mage that everyone here fears. there is also another elven one with them" the darkspawn's voice said. beldur smiled a tiny smile but stopped as the first voice spoke again
"do not kill them. we need them alive for their blood if our plan is to suceed. the elf can be disposed off. her sibling is much more important to us than she is"

the dalish mage growled and sprinted off beldur went to dive but was too slow landnig on the floor, he whispered in a hurry "vin! get her!! your faster and quiter than i am, we cannot get caught here or we will all die!"

Vin clutched at her dagger, only holding the one Beldur gave to her. She occasionally let her fingers run across the blade to feel the engraving; it seemed to comfort her, not only from the fact that she was in mines that were close to pitch black, but also with her confusion with the accusation of her being a mage. There was no way that she was going to accept that that easily, it was impossible.

She sighed, her eyes focusing on the wall to ignore the Darkspawn bodies that littered the floor, making her want to flinch. The eerie sounds of fighting Darkspawn resounding through out the small caverns made her want to end the fighting just so she wouldn't have to listen to it, it made her too jumpy. She jumped when she heard Beldurs voice, irration tears flooding her tear ducts. She quickly wiped away the extra moisture from her eyes before anyone could notice and she nodded, not trusting herself to speak without her voice breaking. Besides, she didn't want to say anything too emotional or intimate around the mage chick, Vin did not like her at all.

She felt strong arms wrap around her torso, the scream catching in her throat when she realized it was Beldur. Voices rung out and Vin was glad that Beldur stopped them before she got in their line of sight. She listened to them, odd to hear about herself from a Darkspawn point of view. Although she didn't enjoy when it ordered the thing not to kill them, it was way too weird. They were always targeted for the kill so why change that now? Why would they need them anyway, apparently it was blood but what would blood have to do with anything?

And at the mention of the mage's cousin, she darted off. Vin wasn't suprised and she nodded at Beldurs words, going in her sheath and pulling out her twin daggers, throwing them at Beldur. If he needed to dispose of Darkspawn without being seen or heard, that was the best way. She left before she even saw if he caught them or not, sneaking in by the shadows. She used to fact that she was light on her feet, knowing her speed would easily catch up to the mage. It was one thing about them that made them weak and it was the fact that physically they were incapable of outruning someome, which at the moment, made Vin happy.

Her eyes peeked at the two Darkspawn talking and her eyes widened, she had never seen bigger ones in her life. She clenched her dagger, hoping that Beldur was alright. From the lack of noise though, she assumed he was. She soon found the mage, whispering something under her breath, probably casting a spell. Vin quickly put her hand over her mouth, muffling the words and stopping her; there was no way she was going to get caught. She heard the mage start to complain, something that Vin wouldn't stand so she did the best thing she did. She put her hand between the muscle of her neck and shoulder and squeezed the joint, making the mage pass out. She supported her now dead weight and hoisted her over her shoulders, using the shadows to get back to Beldur. Before though she saw something that haunted her, a younger female chained up, bleeding. She assumed it was the cousin and Vin pursed her lips, she had obviously been tortured and beaten down; Vin wouldn't allow her to spend another day there.

She found Beldur safe and a smile graced her lips. She placed the girl on the ground and crouched, motioning Beldur beside her. "Look, I need you to get to Ferelden, I don't care how, just do. You know where I used to live before you met me? I want you to meet me up there, okay? Teleport there, bring her with you. I don't need you or her here, you guys will just slow me down." She told him, trying to sound harsh, it was the truth there. She needed him gone and it was because if she didn't suceed, she didn't want them to have her blood too. She saw the fight starting to come on but she placed a finger over his lips before he could say anything. "I need you to trust me Beldur, okay? I know what I'm doing, I'll see you soon, I promise. Keep a low profile and don't leave the house, my father should still be with the other Grey Wardens so don't fret about that." She whispered, removing her finger from his lips and gave him a kiss, letting all the passion leak in. If this was her last kiss, she would be happy.

She turned around, her knuckles red from clutching the dagger and sneaked back into the room, letting the shadows guide her. If she were lucky, this would all play out the way her mind imagined it to.

Beldur caught the daggers and scrambled up looking around he then sat on the bloodied groundit a meditating position, back straight and legs crossed. every few moments his ears twitched as he strained his hearing to extend the distance. heaving the muffling and the footstep coming from vin. when she returned he smiled gratefully to her and then look puzzled by what she was saying. "a teleport spell?" there was no such thing but before he could respond vin nearly pounced on him as they kissed, when she turned beldur did perhaps the worst thing he would ever do in his life.

he snuck up and put one knife to her back the other to her throat making her listen to him he whispered in her ear
"what do you think your doing? you want to go save her? i wont allow it vin. there is no such thing as a teleport spell. im surrpised at how little you know of magic. your a smart girl. but as your senior grey warden you are under my authoirty and i refuse to let this pass. and as the man who is completely inlove with you i refuse to let this happen, i fear for your safety. they wont kill you. they need you it seems. something about our blood. they will capture you and torture you for your blood and that wont happen. you have been hurt too much for my liking recently and your going to rest.....like it or not" he sounded extremely sad at the end of his sentance "im sorry, my love" he whispered in a pained voice before doing what he thought was unthinkable. he pulled the knife from her throat and struck the hilt on the back of her head, if it didnt knock her out if would at least stun her, then he whispered an incantation and shifted into a spider webbing both vin and the dalish mage into a tightly wrapped cocoon he then carried the cocoon up high on the wall hidden from the other spiders, he knew he would have to try and save the girl and so he thought on how to do it. his dalish magic was his most powerful weapon. he could perhaps shapeshift into a horde of bugs like he did so before, but no...that was his main way of escape. a dragon would be too cramped. and spiders would be too weak.

however he did know of the vines spell. he looked back and saw a tree he could do the tree travel spell to flee with the girl if he could get to her. the vines he hoped would trap the darkspawn long enough for him to get the girl out then he could return for vin and the mage. he hung onto the cocoon. shifted back into his normal form and kissed vin on the lips. a kiss that was saddened before he dropped down and braced himself. if he got caught there were two ways he could get out. and neither of them were pleasent

Vins mind went into panic mode when she felt cold steal against her neck and throat, her mind reeling through the possibilities within the means of a second. What if it were a Darkspawn that had managed to sneak up on her? What if it were Beldur, a demon taking over him. What if it were the angry mage that come too and decided to get revenge? What if it were the two voices she had heard in the room? From all the different options, they all only ended in the one same possibility, her life ending at that exact moment. It was the risk of a Grey Warden, it had happend to hundreds before her and it would continue happening to hundeds more, she just thought she was happy for actually living so long.

She closed her eyes, bracing against the cold steel on her, getting ready to die. Her eyes, despite her permission, started to tear. Goosebumps rose as she felt someones breath on her ear, only for one exhale and she thought of all of the words she didn't want to hear before she died. But what she heard was worse than absoloutely anything she could have, it was Beldur; and it was his voice, not a demon controlling him. Her blood froze and her hands suddenly felt too weak to support a dagger, the weapon falling to the floor with a neat, resounding clang. She wanted to scream at him, hit him, put him in the same situation she was in but she couldn't move, not one bit. But as he spoke, her blood turned from ice to boiling faster than Hell itself. She used all of the cuss words that she knew in her head, inventing new ones, calling Beldur every single one of them. She had never been as mad as she was with Beldur and that was because of her own stupidity. She had let him close and if the two managed to survive this, she would make sure that that situation would reverse itself. That was the last thought she managed to have before she blacked out, her head being the source of impact.

But when she woke up, well, there hath no fury like a woman scorned and Vin had been scorned so badly that fury was putting simple. It was unfortunate for whoever got in her way that she wasn't dead, but lucky enough that she was strung up in a spiders web without something sharp to get her out of. Her best friend was still knocked up from previous, which made Vin happy to see. She squirmed around a bit and judged the drop, it was survivable and probability was in her favor that she wouldn't break any bones. She gritted her teeth and kept on squirming, trying to attack the webbing with her nails. It soon started to fall away beneath her and her weight broke her part, Vin landed on the floor with a noticible sound. She peeked up and saw that the webbing was still supporting the female mage and she nodded, looking off to the way of the cavern. She looked around in the dark, her head pounding with protest. She saw a gleam on the floor and went over to check it out, glaring when she saw it was the dagger Beldur gave to her. She cussed at it and kicked it to the side of the walls, she wasn't going to use that. She started her way off to the voices once more, her fists clenched along with her teeth.

Beldur sneaked up to the darkspawn as quick as he dared without getting sensed analizing the situation. he then decided on a plan, looking back at vin who slowly started to move she sighed whispered " i love you vin" and went on to what he thought may be his death. but if it was to save the life vin wished too then it should be worth it.

he took a deep breath and sprinted into the middle of the darksapwn as they reeled in surprise, there was a surpring number of them, more than beldur sensed but he unleashed with his dalish magic as roots struck from out of the ground into all the darkspawn except the talking mage impaling them all against the wall. he looked and his eyes went wide. "he dodged it? how?" beldurs mind exploded in thining every possible way the fight could go out. but he chose a plan and stuck with it. drawing the energy around him beldur sent a huge lightning bolt making the loudest of sounds at the mage. it would stun him and then he can free all the women and get out. but the unthinkable happened, the mage lifted his hand and the bolt split down the middle each half rebounding off some sort of magical feild and headed towards him
"impossible!" was all he could say as the lightning sturck him throwing him against the wall with a loud crunching sound that echoed.

beldur groaned and blinked awake. "hes too powerful to live. i cant stun him. he has to die" he thought to himself, then he began to draw all his power all his rage, flames rose from his eyes and from his mouth as if he was burning from the inside. flames covered his hands as he stood englufing the entire cave with fire the dalish girl was safe from this though but the darkspawn seemed bored as he parted the flames and sent them back, beldur dieved to the side and dodged drawing upon more magic to fire again each time the screams of magic flying getting louder and louder beldur felt his limit drawing close as he fell to his feet. he ran out of ideas
"poor mage. you know you could always cross your limits, and be welcome to power unforeseen for years in one such as you. but of course i dont want you to. i need you alive" beldur thought about that. if he tampered with the darkmagics he could die and stop his plan. drawing on his last reserves he looked around and saw a dagger vin gave him. he looked and saw vin had awoken and caught up "how long were we fighting?" he thought. it felt like seconds and yet years. he stabbed his hand as it bled to the ground and drew upon the dark forbidden magic. blood magic striking a wave at the darkspawn "VIN! GET AWAY NOW!" as always the darkspawn mage split the wave of blood and shot a bolt of magic to beldur as the wound healed and the blood vanished, then massive bloody tenticles ceom from the darkness and dragged the now unconcious beldur off

"we have all the blood we need now" he said looking at vin "you can take the girl if you wish, i only have need for one grey warden" then as if vin wasnt there he began to walk off

With clenched fist she made way to the room, only to see Beldur on fire. She scoffed, secretely hoping that it was him set on fire and not some dumb magic trick he seemed to do so often. But it really only did take her a second to realize that it was just magic and not actually him on fire. She glared at the book of his head as she marched into the room, not bothering to keep hidden. And if looks could kill Beldur would be in the most unfortunate situation right now. A few darkspawn glanced at her and turned back to Beldur, only one of them coming to attack her. Apparently they thought it would only take one of them to get her, which fueled her anger even more. Oh, he was dangerous and she was a kitten? Was she supposed to meow for them or what?

She punched the Darkspawn right in it's face, her eyes widening when she heard a loud crunch. She looked down and saw that she had broken a knuckle and looked back up at the Darkspawn, looking at it's stupid grin. She glared and kicked it in the shin and watched as it crumpled to the floor from the suprised. She kicked it again in the head and then stole its sword, stabbing it in it's stomach. The sword was awkward and something Vin wasn't used too, she was used to light daggers that she could use of balance in both hands, not this heavy long thing that made her sway to one side.

She tried to lift it sucessfully, her back against the wall and not one pair of eyes turned towards her. Some eyes did, however, turn to her when Beldur screamed for her to get out. She snorted, like Hell she was ever going to listen to him again. But one moment Beldur was fighting and the next moment he was gone and every eyes was on her. The mage darkspawn looked at her and just told her off. Her mouth dropped open, not knowing what to say. He then proceeded to turn away and walk off, like she wasn't even there.

But she was way too angry for people to pretend like she wasn't there, instead she started to run towards the darkspawn mage in blind wrath, planning on killing it. But she really wasn't used to the weight of a sword and how difficult it would be to run with one. She tripped over the blade, her ankle slicing open in the process. She groaned and the mage turned around with a grin on his face.

Apparently he had changed his mind about not wanting her too because the last thing she registered before getting knocked out for the second time that day was the feeling of course rope tying around her wrists.
