Dragon Hatchling

Dragons have been at War with the humans for centuries and both sides have mysteriously called a Truce. Turns out the Queen and King of the Dragons have had a Hatchling that is in danger from an entirely new species of Dragons...

Introduction

Dragon Hatchling

Atlantis, the home of the Dragons, has been home to many great battles of the war between humans and dragons. The current dragon King was over five centuries old, and his mate, the Queen has been over two centuries old, but their lives came to end two days ago while protecting their only hatchling heir... Two weeks ago they came down from their Wild Lands and proposed the idea of a Truce between their species. The human King, Ruthford Sinclair and his Queen, Elizabeth Sinclair agreed on the terms that they protect the dragon hatchling heir. The hatchling had then been brought forth and taken away to be hidden and protected by both Dragons and Human knights.
Thus far, the hatchling was kept safe but lately... It's been showing signs of hatching. It's shell color has changed from a dull grey to a crimson red. It's also been making some noise and rolling as if something was moving inside.
Now you might be wondering what the dragon King and Queen has been hiding their hatchling from... They were hiding it from a forgotten species of dragons... Wraiths. They are just like a normal dragon, but they are bigger and they keep growing throughout their lives, and they can live for hundreds of hundreds of years. They also are basically... Made of dark magic. They think, and breathe but all they care about is killing, and power. Leading these Wraiths is a wraith dragon thats so old his name was forgotten and so many creatures call him Shade. His kind had been trapped and imprisioned by the ancient dragon Kings and Queens long ago inside the mountain dubbed Tempest. The mountian exploded a few days before the dragon rulers gave up their hatchling.

So far...

When the dragon King and Queen gave up their hatchling they explained to Rutherford and Elizabeth what was out there and what was after the hatchling with the blood of the ancient dragon rulers before it's birth. Both the human King and Queen decided to send it on the road to the safe haven accompanied with both Dragons and Human knights. The dragons going on the journey are Warrior dragons with no reason but to gaurd the hatchling and ensure their races' survival. They are the best of the best in the dragon's life and dangerous killing machines. The human knights are also the best of the best in the human world and are in fact supposed to be gaurding the human King and Queen.
Sadly, the human King and Queen are dead and Shade's followers have thrust both kingdoms into chaos. The hands of both Kingdoms lay in the hands of the hatchling heir and the two teenage children that had been left at the age of 6 months to accompany the hatchling, to be safe. Somehow, the hatchling when left alone with the boy human of royal blood, hatched.

[size=200]Nineteen years later...

The teenage children have grown, and so has the hatchling heir. He is actually almost full grown now, and is a red dragon. The dragon protectors have grown fond of the human knights and have let them ride on their backs... Almost like they've become dragon riders. The dragon heir, is best friends with the teenage boy. The group has stayed hidden far within the Wild lands and have run into several rebellious dragons fleeing from Shade's anger. Oh, and Shade, of course, has become King of both kingdoms.
Some of the rebellious dragons decided to stay with the group, and one of them is a Wraith dragon or at least half Wraith. She was born, or created when Shade chose a blue dragon as a mate, not as Queen. She hatched two weeks after Shade got control of the place.

Facts about Wraiths
  • Keep growing throughout their entire lives.
  • All Wraiths are black.
  • You can sometimes see their bones when they move too fast and their shadow flesh is... like shadows.

Facts about Normal Dragons
  • Blue dragons are usually great strategists, and logical thinkers.
  • Red dragons usually have great power in breathing fire, impulsive and many famous dragon war lords were red.
  • White dragons are many in number and are often quite brainy, gentle and caring.
  • Black dragons are rare, and most black dragons become shaman or seers among their own kind.
  • Gold dragons are the ones that "gaurd" the loot, and are full of energy.
  • Green dragons are shy, and have an affinity for healing, and like gardening.
  • Many dragons don't stop growing until they are about a century old.
  • Dragons don't mate for life.
  • Dragons can live for centuries.
  • Dragons can speak many languages if they try hard to learn it, and use telepathy to communicate with other dragons and humans.

Mrala

The villager Haymitch licked his dry chapped lips, wizened with age. He set the pail down and began to stretch out his back, ignored the dark shadows in the shadows of the wild trees. While doing so, he muttered under his breath, "Damn back muscles. Old lady of the house should've done the task earlier. What the..." The old man stared at the black form he'd thought was shadows in the shadows of the trees. He saw the ancient tree shake, it's leaves parting to reveal the... reptilian lips pulling back to show ivory sharp teeth. The old man gasped and stumbled backwards.

Old men and women, wrinkled pelts and graying fur. Mrala growled, and moved foward, the branches and leaves that touched her blackened with death. The shadows that accompanied her whispered words that only she could hear and those that were ready to greet their death. She bent her massive head and surveyed the old man frozen with terror. Her ebony black scales didn't glitter when the sun's rays shown down on them. Mrala sniffed him then jerked backwards, smelling dragon nearby. She would be caught and then... not be accepted her because she had, without thinking, made a promise that she would not harm any rebel humans. She turned and growled hating the trees that were in her way. She roared at the ancient tree she's been hiding beneath and slammed her head into it before launching herself into the air above the tree to fly back... Away, to be able to sink her teeth into something.

The clouds sailed by lazily, revealing the rays of the sun as it shone down upon the land in its fullest glory. With it came the warmth and its revitalizing touch, which Anabeth has grown to appreciate - despite the nasty side-effect of perspiration. She straightened her posture as she proceeded to walk out of her room and out of the little hut she was in. Outside, a detachment of guards were carrying out their usual training, some lifting heavy logs, some jogging around the field, some practicing their sword moves. All of them had something to be busy with; Anabeth could not help but sense a tiny bit of jealousy rising in her. She suppressed it, however, taking care not to show it. Instead, she smiled at the soldiers who had glanced her way.

Better to be as she was now, with nothing much to do besides taking casual strolls, than to be out there sweating buckets. At least, that was how she intended to convince herself before the words 'sour grapes' kept surfacing in her mind. Thus followed a great urge to scowl at herself, which she also managed to hide as she continued on her stroll, shifting her frustration to managing her posture and elegance as she walked.

The little 'village' that she was in was one that she and her brother had settled in many years back when they were still babies. According to history as she knows it, the Dragons and Humans were about to settle for a truce of some kind. Then, Shade came along. Shade was a Wraith, an apparently separate species of Dragons composed of an entirely different essence that Anabeth could not quite comprehend. However, one thing was certain - Shade was powerful. With his power, he sent both the Kingdoms of the Dragons and the Humans down a spiral of chaos. Fortunately, Anabeth's parents had the wisdom of sending both her brother and herself away before the situation got to its worst in the Royal Palace.

Anabeth was loathe to think about what happened subsequently. As much as she would like to feel a sense of loss and anger, she realized she could not genuinely feel it. She was far too young to know of her parents' love. Granted, they gave their lives to save her brother's and her's, but still, that feeling of sadness was almost obligatory. Perhaps it was a strength though, Anabeth thought, for it has allowed her to be less vengeful towards the Wraiths. In a sense, that was how she could have befriended a Wraith.

Mrala was the example of that. Admittedly though, sometimes, Mrala does have conversations or thoughts that are in conflict with her ideas of ideals as a Princess. Anabeth sighed as she wandered onto the edges of the village where there it was sheltered by the trees of the surrounding forest and where it was very much more quiet.

Gliding along on a sea of cotton and cream, Galiran was in a state of bliss. Whatever petty little disputations were going on beneath the layer of clouds mattered not to him, for he did not want to impede his relaxed state with such stresses. Although the air was thinner high in the sky, Galiran accepted this setback with the benefit that came with it. Being above the clouds allowed him to see far beyond the horizon, and no creature could get within twenty klicks of him without being spotted. Plus, no one on the ground would expect they had a neighbor in the sky just behind that cloudy door. With the glistening sun warming his scales, and the airy blanket of a jet stream settling gently under him, he young dragon thought that he might doze off. On the other hand, waking up in free fall did not sound quite as relaxing, and Galiran shifted his wings to get more blood flowing.

It was one of those partly cloudy days that cleverly balanced the gloom of a winter sky with the jubilee of a summer one. Having finished his morning routine, Galiran had decided to fly up to the more overcast part of the heavens and practice his gliding. While he was a proficient enough flier, it was gliding that really got one places, and learning to endure a long flight was a skill he needed to hone. After all, what would he do if he got into a situation where he couldn't land? Say, over the sea?

After a long while of travel, Galiran had completed an arbitrarily determined circuit, and he lazily searched for a break in the clouds. Finding a gap, he gazed through it, and looked down at the agrarian countryside. He sweeped his eyes to the North, and he saw the golden fields of the privileged and elite, the grains flowing in the wind looked almost more noble than their masters. The fields to the South and West looked almost the same as the fields of the nobles, but with many more breaks between plots where roads for troops had been slashed through the countryside. While these fields outwardly displayed prosperity, by the ends of the season a good portion of it would be gone to taxes, famine, and rampaging armies. Galiran then looked East, to the Moorish wasteland that had once housed the great population centers of the nation. Now with ground blackened and fields bloodied, it showed only the signs that the Wraith wanted it to. Signs of a recently crushed rebellion.

Galiran recoiled at the thought of the last revolt against Shade's power. Like he did with all revolutions, the crafty warlord sent only his weakest human armies to fight the rabble, those armies filled with conscripts from troublesome districts. Only after false confidence had been instilled in the rebels and Shade's political enemies eliminated did he crush them with his endless forces of Wraiths, ravaging the district for decades to come. It was here that Galiran headed, for it was there that he stayed with his companions in the little pocket of rebellion that still remained.

Sighing, Galiran left the protection of the clouds and descended to the ground as quick as was safe, landing in a small wooded field. It wouldn't do to have loyalist peasants seeing a dragon falling from the sky.

Re: Dragon Hatchling

Oh, sorry guys, but yeah, lets get the RP started and go with Theo's idea...

Re: Dragon Hatchling

Any idea when would this be starting? I see some key roles may not have been filled yet, but perhaps we could start it out first and see if anyone would join in while we're at it? It's been quite a while, and I'm hoping the interest in this role play is not going to die off before we even get started. :)

Re: Dragon Hatchling

-facedesk-

I'm an idiot.

resubmitting him now.

Re: Dragon Hatchling

The royals' last name is Sinclair.

Re: Dragon Hatchling

Wait...what should the last name for the son be?

Re: Dragon Hatchling

Yep! Thanks for accepting, that's the correct one that you've accepted~! :D Can't wait for the role play to start now!

Re: Dragon Hatchling

@Final: Yes, you may. I was a bit of in a hurry when I made the RP, so sorry if there are still some rough edges.

@Theod: Um, which did you want me to accept? I'm a bit confused by it. I accepted Anabetha Cecilia... Hope I accepted the correct one.

Re: Dragon Hatchling

OMG.... I'm sorry, I'm fairly new to this site and all. I think I might have sent my character application multiple times. It wasn't intentional! Wanted to notify you via private messaging as well, but I didn't know how as well. Sorry about that! That said, I hope you'll look at the very last application.

Re: Dragon Hatchling

Meh? No reservations, damn. I'll submit a character for Teenage Male 1 if someone doesn't beat me to it, also may I use another character sheet that has all of that on it and a bit more? Yours is a bit...lacking so to say.

Re: Dragon Hatchling

First come first serve... You send in your characters, and if I like them, I accept them... Oh, and the RP is not with our modern day inventions. Its the old sort of old age thing; They use swords, spears, metal shields, etc,. They're no guns or computers... Oh, and there is of course, magic involved. BEWARE BAD WITCHS!!!!

Re: Dragon Hatchling

Can I reserve royal teen 2

Re: Dragon Hatchling

Teenage Assassin please? :3

Ouch, Role Five is sort of harsh... well I hope the time I put into my character isn't going to be removed just because someone better comes along, haha.
