Personality
Easy-going and almost playful at times, Loki does not appear to be a dark mage. But the truth is - he is. He is one of the strongest dark mages out there. However, his position and his role are both kept under very tight wraps. Most people don't even know that Loki specializes in the dark arts. He is very protective of helpless things - mainly, animals and young children. Adults, royals, ignorant bastards who think they're all that? Forget it. Loki's personality can change on a dime. One moment, smiling and changing the colors of a girl's hair ribbon - the next, viciously holding up a male at least half a foot taller than him, his voice low, teeth bared.
Rebellious at times, Loki often does not listen to orders he feels goes against his own wishes. However, Loki's wishes tends to correspond with the wishes of his king. Despite his outwardly teasing and optimistic appearance, Loki harbors deep ambitions, and many dark secrets. A very observant fellow, Loki does not actively participate in debates he feels are a waste of his time. Instead, he watches those time-wasting debates, learning about his opponents, drinking in anything they might leak.
A skilled liar and actor, almost nobody save for those that know Loki extremely well, can ever see through his act. But some might say Loki is insane - and they would not be wrong....
History
Loki's fox ears come from the fact that when he was a young boy, he wandered into the forest - lost. There, he met a fox demon, a kitsune. The demon, sensing the boy's potential to grow into a fabulous dark mage, gave him a choice. Form a contract with the fox and never be touched by other demons, or forever be cursed. Naturally, Loki took the former. The curse took the physical form of the ears on the side of his head. As such, Loki's lifespan has been cut in half - but the amount of power, the amount of magic and the skill and speed by which he can cast it...well, Loki believes that those rewards are enough for the curse.
He became under contract of the king by the time he was fourteen. By then, he was already expanding his knowledge of magic. The king took him in, had him trained under professionals, all under the cover that Loki was an orphaned boy, whom one of the court magicians had seen as a boy with so much potential.
Nobody ever knew Loki's beginnings.
Other
He makes many different kinds of masks and hands them out to others. It's a past time of his.
He joins the group and lies to them - none of them know that he is the dark mage.
