Introduction
Edith Hawksworth was once a boarding school for everyone. It didn't matter if you were a boy or a girl, had powers or not, were a human or not. One day however two girls befriended each other. One of them was Miriam March, a human with the power to communicate with animals. The other was Venera Avalon, a mermaid. They were very close friends who graduated together and started working at the school, having great power and influence over it. The mermaid became a principal, the human - vice principal. In times when men were given more opportunities, the two women decided it would be fair to make the school only for girls.
Soon the higher position of the mermaid started bothering the human. Their friendship was slowly dying and turning into rivalry. This caused them to separate the school in two parts - March wing for supernatural humans and Avalon wing for supernatural humanoids. Even after their death, later principals kept all of their traditions from deep respect or fear of them, as the rumors say they still roam in the building.
Many of the modern students differ in opinnions. Some of them are into the competition between the two wings. Others want peace. Most of them wish to make the boarding school for both genders again. What does your character think?
Character sheet:
Name:
Age: (15-19. Chronologically they can be much older, as long as their species allows it.)
Grade: (9th-12th)
Height:
Appearance:
Sexual preference:
Wing: (March or Avalon)
Power: (Members of the Avalon wing may also have powers, as long as they're linked to their species. The March wing members must have only one specific power (firebending, flying, telekinesis, etc.))
Species:
Roommate:
Romantic interest:
Personality: (Don't make them too perfect or too unlikeable. Balance between their good and bad sides. Let their bad sides have a bad impact on them. Include their likes and dislikes, but don't rely mostly on them. Also, don't make loners who don't want to socialize with anyone. Character interaction is needed!)
History: (It can be brief. Feel free to hide a shocking part of thier past and reveal it somewhere in the story. In case they have a traumatic background, don't make them constantly thinking about it.)
Rules:
- After you reserve a role\announce you want to participate, you have two days to create your character. If you need more time, just tell me.
- Variety is preferable - feel free to give some information about your character in the OOC before you submit them, so others can see it and create something different.
- This is a girl's boarding school, so I expect female characters. However, I don't mind if there's a guy who wants to cross dress in order to enter. One or two at most. Again - variety is preferable.
- Post often, but don't flood it.
- Less on the details of the characters doing something by themselves.
- If you want to leave, don't just vanish, leaving your character hanging around the story. Please, don't. I'm begging you. If you want to leave, please:
* Announce in the OOC that you want to leave and give some explanation. Even a simple "I don't feel like it any more" is enough.
* Tell us what you want to happen to your character. Do you want them to be adopted by someone? By who? Do you want them to leave? Do you want them to die?
* Abandon the character, so someone else can adopt them.
* If you want your character to leave the story, describe how it happened. Did they die? How? Did they leave the school? Did they let the other characters know?
- This role play is labelled as yuri, but your character can be straight, even having a boyfriend if you want. Maybe they want the school to be for both genders because they're straight.
- The characters don't have to be Japanese, but anime appearance is preferable.
- At one point I'll stop accepting characters.
- Have fun! :)

The elf got up and stared at the sky as the light breeze moved her long blonde hair. Her glance stopped at several girls from the academy.
"Bingo." she grinned and ran.
"Hey there, March students!" she yelled with a wide smile on her face. "I bet none of you can beat me in tree climbing! Is there anyone who wants to prove me wrong?"

"Actually, I think I could try it out... have a fun falling!" Ryder scampered up the tall tree, struggling to cling to the rough bark. She sat down on a large branch and gazed at the ground, panting.
"Anyone gonna join me?" She yelled.

Nanami was in the grass taking a rest while hears someone calling the March Students, she gets up and looks to the person who was calling them, Nanami was one of the March Students. "A challenge, huh? I can use my supernatural powers." Nanami's power was Telekinesis with that power she can move things, etc... with her mind. "I accept that challenge!" She puts her hand up and looks to the Avalon Student with a grin in her lips. She wanted to help her friends (The March Students) She says while approaches Eloise. "Can I join that challenge?" She asked while watches her. "It's time to start the party." She thought to herself.

"Sheesh, someone's full of energy this early. Unlike me right now--" Asuna sighed as she walked near the vicinity of the students competing in tree-climbing, of all things. "I suppose I could just project myself into that tree but--"they" might come out again." Once again, she sighed as she walked closer but not to close that the she would catch the other girls' attention.
"Actually, I think I could try it out... have a fun falling! Anyone gonna join me?" Another girl stepped up to the challenge. She managed to do it as well though, it was rather expected from her, being a resident of Avalon.
"Can I join that challenge?" Asuna's gaze turned to see a March resident step up. She wasn't too surprised considering that the two wings were in competition for quite some time now but, needless to say, it was the first time she's seeing things in person. Or was it?
"I'll let her go ahead. If she manages to do it then good for her. If not--well, let's just wait and see." Asuna thought as she crossed her arms, waiting to see how things play out.

She''d gotten used to the whole thing to some degree, she guessed she probably had better vision that most people she knew, but it was always going to be held back by something covering her eyes. Last time she'd tried to read without them she'd accidentally looked out the window and killed a small bird outside...found it lying on its back with its legs sticking up in the air. She felt guilty about that one, though taking out a starling was a little better than taking out her roommate. Honestly Meddie would've preferred not having to share with anybody, for the reason of having to try and keep her...eye problem under wraps all the time but considering her accommodation before the school she couldn't rightly complain.
Voices closeby caught her attention as she caught sight of the shape of Eloise.
"An elf wanting to climb a tree. What a shock." the gorgon muttered, until it came to her attention who the challenge was aimed at.
March students.
Meddie bristled a little.
She was not a fan of humans.
Even the weird ability-endowed ones.
At this, the hood of the top she'd been wearing began to shift as multiple pairs of beady black eyes glimmered underneath, the snakes in her hair being awoken by their counterpart's concern. They emitted a low hiss, baring their fangs until the gorgon tugged the hood up again irritably.
She then rose to her feet, regarding the whole thing from a short distance, with Dostoevsky tucked under her arm .
"Whose to say the mini-superheroes won't start cheating as soon as you get off the ground?" she remarked, quite prepared to take an opportunity to regard March students with suspicion. Her voice tended to linger a little too long on the 's' sounds, like the hiss of some kind of reptile. The sharpened teeth and forked tongue didn't really help matters.
"Not really a challenge if someone just flies or levitates or teleports to the top, is it?"

Aibu walked her way over to the tree and stared at it, then looked down at herself and suddenly realized she couldn't climb a tree to save her life. Aibu mumbled to herself, having her vassals climb a tree for her probably didn't count, "No harm in asking I guess." Trotting herself over to the who it appeared the other two challengers were approaching and Aibu spoke, "So what are the rules here, can I use my powers to help me climbing the tree?" If the answer was no Aibu would have to respectfully decline the challenge, if the answer was yes then the Count was large enough to carry her up the tree. At least she probably made the other March student who accepted the challenge more comfortable.

Ryder took her worries and turned it into a drive to win. She lifted herself from the branch, snickered, and crept on all fours to the top of the branch, perching herself on it like a bird.
"Come on, slowpoke, pick up the pace! These legs weren't made for sitting!" Ryder laughed, continuing to jump branch to branch.

"My Queen, what do you require," The Count asked as he turned towards Aibu, she smirked and nodded her head to the top of the tree.
"If you wouldn't mind Count."
"Anything for you my Queen," and without another moment wasted the Count picked up up and put her gently atop his head, then turning to the tree he charged at it. Throwing his heavy hands around the waist of the tree the Count dug his fingers and the began his ascent.
"Best of luck darlings," she chuckled as she sat atop her vassal, looking at the other climbers with superiority. If they were going to challenge her they better put up a good fight.

"Well, good luck to you girls. Try not to hurt yourselves." She soon lost interest in watching and carried on walking, taking in the sights to be found in the school. She was fairly new but, she thinks she's got some bearings now. This was a school for "abnormals", as that's what she refers to those like her, with abilities that baffle people or being born of a different species. Being divided into two wings; one for them "abnormal humans" and the "non-humans", as she calls the Avalon students.
"I understand that you don't get along but, I personally had no idea that it occurs on a daily basis." Sighing for the last time, she glanced around to look for a place where she could sit down. She saw one, a wooden bench by the bench. She walked up to it and sat down, feeling the wind caress her skin. In her hurry though, she didn't notice that there was another person there.
"Ah! Sorry." She apologized thinking that she may be disturbing something and inched a little more to her right, giving some much needed space between them. Upon observation, she realized that the girl was a non-human. Still, the tension was a little unnerving so she thought of something to break the ice.
"Russian literature eh? Are you more of a classics person than contemporaries when it comes to you choice of material?" She talked to the girl on the other end.

"Just kidding! Haha! Feel free to use whatever you want, as long as we all leave the start at the same time! Teleporting, flying, time travel, dividing by zero, everything is allowed right now, right at this one race! However! " Eloise clinged to a tree. "We need a non participator who will set the start, observe the competition and announce the winner!"

"Well, as I can see everyone is going to join this challenge, so I'm going to set the start and announce the winner." She walks to the grass and stretches her arms up. "I hope everyone is ready. I believe in The March Students! They are the best!" She shouts as she watches everyone climbing the tree.
She touches her hair while keeps watching them. "Is everyone ready or not?" She asks as she keeps touching her hair. "I think Aibu is going to win I believe in her." She grins as she looks now to Aibu. Aibu was her roommate but also her bestfriend, they met each other at the kindergarten, Aibu understands a lot Nanami. She winks at her and chuckles as she approaches her and pats her head gently.

I.E, something else that she couldn't participate in by virtue of not being born able to do anything that was functional. She had one ability she couldn't use, and one she had to severely harm herself to use, and even then it was for the benefit of someone else, so what plenty of the rest of the student body saw as 'fun' Meddie saw as another reminder or her own inherent shortcomings, which she didn't really need to be reminded of when her hair was getting into a fight under her hood.
"Super fun unless, y'know, you don't have special powers to use. Then it's just another opportunity for people to laugh at you."
Of course that wasn't exactly true. Medusa did have powers, she just couldn't use them. Of course it'd be easy enough to win a competition if she took off her blindfold and killed all the other participants, but she wasn't a serial killer and had no intention of becoming one.
Hearing someone speak up, Medusa looked round. She had a hard time picking up when people were approaching as the faric tended to make her peripheral vision work badly. The snakes starting to hiss though quickly told her it was a human before she could even make them out against the sun. Meddie shifted over in discomfort.
There was a rather awkward silence before the human student started to make conversation regarding the book under the gorgon's arm.
"I read pretty much everything." she replied after a few moments. Meddie's accent was rather hard to place. It could have been greek, or eastern european...though a few of her enunciations could have passed for english.
"Anything I could get my hands on, but I haven't had a chance to read many classics until I got here."
Meddie had never had access to a library before. Most of the circus performers with who she had grown up with were poorly educated themselves. Her own literacy had been mainly self-taught, and had been from a mixture of taking the others kids' comic books, the strongman's russian bodybuilding magazines, and the fortune teller's cheap romance novels and reading through each of them. The books she had had, that were genuinely hers, had been gifts or things she'd saved up for... all left behind when she had had to walk away from her life with a backpack full of stuff. A change of clothes, a toothbrush, fifty euros and a bag of dead mice for her snakes. No room for the books.
"Making up for lost time..." she added, realizing she's been silent for a minute or so.
"Though I think I prefer The Brothers Karamasov. I can't identify with Raskolnikov. Murder isn't justified, even for a supposedly altruistic cause. Though maybe that's the point of the story."
Setting

"Really? That's rather admirable. I personally find myself unable to finish any material in one sitting. I guess that's why I prefer short reads like articles, editorials and stuff, you know?" Asuna replied. The person she was talking to seem to have some sort of accent but, it wasn't too hard to catch. Asuna herself was no native English speaker as well. "Come to think of it, I haven't sat down with a nice book in a while..." She recalled.
"Though I think I prefer The Brothers Karamasov. I can't identify with Raskolnikov. Murder isn't justified, even for a supposedly altruistic cause. Though maybe that's the point of the story."
"Hmmm...I haven't read Russian literature myself so I don't know the whole story but--I seem to recall a lesson I once learned way back then." Asuna's interest was caught by the word "justified". She somehow had an interest in looking up philosophies and the like. To prevent her hands from wandering about in gestures, she cast a small illusion of a lump of shadow in her hands. She was shaping it as she talked, which made her feel a bit more comfortable.
"Murder, the act itself, can be called evil. There's no doubt about that. However, I was taught that there can be factors that makes it justified. One is that when it is done with good intentions like, say, self-defense or as a means of retaliating against authority. Among the hierarchy of values, one's own life is more important than an aggressor's. Or at least that's what I heard. Another thing is the circumstances. By principle of double effect, if there is no other way out, then--well, you know. So while it can't be good, it can be justified." Asuna finished at the same time as she finished shaping it into a butterfly, letting it fly out of her hand.
"Oh, sorry. I got carried away in my ramblings. Hope I wasn't being too much of a bother." She apologized to the Avalon student. She shifted her gaze back to the competition. "Hey, what do you think of the competition? Between our two wings, that is." Asuna asked.

The conversation was turning to more immediate, issues.
"The 'competition'? it's a joke, and not a funny one." she responded derisively.
"Competition would imply that there was any actual skill involved, when there's none whatsoever. Who ever has the power best suited to the situation will win. You don't have to be good at anything. What's the point of having competitions when it only measures who is naturally equipped to cheat most effectively? "

Who ever has the power best suited to the situation will win. You don't have to be good at anything. What's the point of having competitions when it only measures who is naturally equipped to cheat most effectively? "
"But, isn't that generalization a bit unfair? As humans--no--as creatures of this Earth, none of us are alike in every form. We are all born with different capabilities from each other, some more suited to certain tasks than others--such as this little facade, for instance. Maybe--" Asuna paused for a bit to gather some more shadows, just so she can keep her hands busy. "Maybe most of us are insecure within ourselves. Maybe that's why we choose to challenge others in fields we excel in. No one likes wandering out of their comfort zones. Everyone prefers to stay within their own boxes, I guess."
Asuna glanced back at the competition. It seemed they were about to start. "I don't think I can blame them though. We all just like to be different and, well...somehow better than the rest. While most prefer to stay within their own box, no one likes sharing that box with others, hence the need to keep proving ourselves. Is it even still cheating...when what you have is a talent you acquired by birth or developed on your own? Aren't we somehow all veterans here? Having learned to regulate our own abilities--I think that can be called as skill, no?"
Her eyes shifted to the blue firmament above as she gets completely lost in the conversation. "In the end, I think it's just pride. As long as we have it, facades like these are bound to happen. The question is how to overcome it? Our own pride. What do you think?"

"I'll let you have a rematch." the elf looked at obth of them. "The competition will be different." she hopped off the tree.
"This time..." Eloise let her cane go. "...no powers involved. It will be all on physical abilities. Whenever you want, I'm ready. Would that be now? Later? After classes? Some other day? It will be up to you three. Also, the red hair over there! I want you to participate! I'm in the same room with this beauty over there..." she pointed ar Ryder and told the rest the room number.
"We'll have a rematch... or just hang out. Or both! We must do both!"
"You two over there! I want you to join us too! I want you to participate in the rematch! No powers involved, you hear?" she pointed at Meddie and Asuna.

"No powers? A little disadvantageous to March students don't you think? In their basic form, non-humans generally have some sort of physical leverage. Plus, I'm not really a tree-climber so, you guys go on. I'll just spectate from here. Good luck to those who'll be joining in."
Asuna replied, content with sampling observing the small "façade" play out in front of her.

Eloise later turned to the rest. "We don't have to do this competition now. We can just go hang out somewhere before class starts."

OK, History - recent bad love affair at special school for mutants. Transferred at advice of guidance officer.
Personality: Very mercurial. Seems self-effacing, but given to sudden enthusiasms of bouts of rage. Likes standing outside in rain storms. Totally unafraid of lightening.
